- 0:19Speaker 5: I don't take the Texans as well? How about Davis Mills?
- 0:21Speaker 5: How about a little scrapulous.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Best? How about Acid Rain live from Best of Times?
- 0:28Speaker 6: I don't know what that is.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It's a movie. It's freezing here.
- 0:31Speaker 7: I go to imagine.
- 0:32Speaker 4: It's freezing Minnesota.
- 0:33Speaker 5: Have Chicago's number overall and we'll be played inside. Yea, Minnesota,
- 0:38Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I hear he's afraid of women, are we all?
- 0:46Speaker 5: I am afraid of being accused. That man's plainning. Hey,
- 0:50Speaker 5: I don't that does worry me? Your men? And also
- 0:55Speaker 5: the album room is nasty. I don't like that place.
- 1:00Speaker 2: It could be called the asteroids. Do I have them covering? Yes?
- 1:04Speaker 2: Twenty eight to nine? Right, yeah, I'm not closed. Social media?
- 1:09Speaker 4: Yes, social media.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I thought you meant to play No No, No team.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I was interested when I thought it was real. This
- 1:14Speaker 2: is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:18Speaker 8: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:23Speaker 3: All right, Welcome the Patriots unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:27Speaker 3: at Chilette Stadium. Seems like a long time ago since
- 1:30Speaker 3: we played a game, I know, a show back at Thursday.
- 1:33Speaker 4: But we've got a lot to talk about.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Nevertheless, going back to Thursday's game, everything that happened over
- 1:39Speaker 3: the weekend, it.
- 1:40Speaker 4: All works out for the Patriots.
- 1:43Speaker 9: Well we're waiting on the appeal, right, I mean, everything
- 1:45Speaker 9: works sound great for tomorro Chase.
- 1:47Speaker 2: That's what we're referring, right, Well, that's one of the
- 1:49Speaker 2: things that's really the only thing they work.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Yeah, that's gonna say. It's really this was a.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Very anti Normally, when you have a bye week or
- 1:56Speaker 2: a mini bye week, like every team that you want
- 1:59Speaker 2: to lose loses. This one went the other way.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Well, Kansas City didn't lose. I mean, uh yeah, yeah, they.
- 2:07Speaker 4: We wanted them to win that Denver would happen.
- 2:10Speaker 9: But a good debate that Paul and I had because
- 2:12Speaker 9: it goes into like, do you want someone to just
- 2:14Speaker 9: dead and bury them? Are you kind of concerned if
- 2:17Speaker 9: they sneak in a's like listen.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Strategically, if you're a Patriots fan, you wanted the Chiefs
- 2:21Speaker 3: to beat the Broncos, But I can understand wanting to
- 2:24Speaker 3: bury Mahomes.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean I want nothing to do
- 2:27Speaker 2: with my home, especially since neither happened, Like the Chiefs
- 2:32Speaker 2: didn't win, and the Chiefs aren't buried, no, no, no no,
- 2:34Speaker 2: but they took a step towards me.
- 2:36Speaker 4: I kind of felt you got to lose one to
- 2:38Speaker 4: get toward being buried.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of felt like this was a bad
- 2:41Speaker 5: weekend for the Patriots.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I agree, And now all the games went against them.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Well, and Williams is on injured reserve Thursday, Oh yeah,
- 2:50Speaker 5: but that didn't happen officially that he was going to
- 2:52Speaker 5: go on i R until Saturday, and and that to
- 2:55Speaker 5: me is it puts a little bit of a damper
- 2:58Speaker 5: on this Thursday night went honestly like you were gonna
- 3:00Speaker 5: win the game anyways, and so to so to lose
- 3:03Speaker 5: Millon Williams for the Bills and the Ravens game is
- 3:07Speaker 5: not good. Like that's not good. So that's a tough one.
- 3:11Speaker 5: Like the first real no offense to Antonio Gibson, the
- 3:14Speaker 5: first real significant injury for the Patriots of the season.
- 3:17Speaker 2: But Christians all too.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Yeah, but you know that was the beginning of the year.
- 3:22Speaker 2: You didn't know what you didn't have yet.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I didn't go.
- 3:24Speaker 2: On I R.
- 3:25Speaker 4: So yeah, first starter on I R. Well we'll talk about.
- 3:28Speaker 3: What the impact of losing Williams for a few games
- 3:31Speaker 3: will be. But going back to Thursday, how about them uniforms? Huh,
- 3:37Speaker 3: great debut.
- 3:39Speaker 9: You know what I thought, Fred, I just the stadium
- 3:41Speaker 9: looked great, Like just the lights, like the way that
- 3:43Speaker 9: it was all lit up, Like I don't is that
- 3:45Speaker 9: to me?
- 3:46Speaker 2: Like I never really get a sense of it, but
- 3:47Speaker 2: here's the thing school out there. The way it was
- 3:49Speaker 2: all lit up. And then the player announcements I thought
- 3:51Speaker 2: was cool. I don't even like them.
- 3:52Speaker 3: But since they since they put in led lights at
- 3:55Speaker 3: the stadium which allows you to do all that flashing stuff,
- 3:58Speaker 3: we haven't had a lot of NI game right, so
- 4:00Speaker 3: we haven't why, you know, chances to use them.
- 4:03Speaker 2: But it's a chance.
- 4:03Speaker 9: Like all the different screens around the stadium are all
- 4:06Speaker 9: connected now, yeah, like all of a sudden, it's all
- 4:08Speaker 9: on one kind of thing.
- 4:09Speaker 2: And it's just even like the.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Aisles of the seats had like something.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Just looking out out in the press box. I was like, damn,
- 4:15Speaker 2: the stadium was pretty cool. Yeah, night, But that you know,
- 4:17Speaker 2: the uniforms thought really doing some juice.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Well, yeah, the juice, I I really I think our
- 4:22Speaker 3: rivalries uniforms are the best.
- 4:24Speaker 7: I do.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Oh, I do too.
- 4:26Speaker 9: Uh, but do you guys see digs running out like
- 4:27Speaker 9: you could tell like you to see other s to
- 4:30Speaker 9: get like announced it to come out and you know,
- 4:32Speaker 9: I just I'm I'm kind of a fan of this
- 4:34Speaker 9: switch is something different.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I think it's great. I think there was some juice
- 4:37Speaker 2: in the building. I think. For as much criticism and
- 4:40Speaker 2: I'm at the top of the list for as much
- 4:43Speaker 2: criticism as I give Thursday night football, I think it's
- 4:45Speaker 2: ridiculous that they play it. They make an event out
- 4:48Speaker 2: of it. They they do it up. They bring a
- 4:50Speaker 2: lot of personnel. I think there's a lot of different
- 4:52Speaker 2: kind of bells and whistles that go along with it.
- 4:54Speaker 2: There was there was some juice in the building. It's
- 4:56Speaker 2: a little electricity.
- 4:58Speaker 9: Richard Sherman down in k sp Zalis didn't go up
- 5:02Speaker 9: in uh saying I was going to ask him.
- 5:04Speaker 2: If he was mad, bro, but Bro, I thought he
- 5:06Speaker 2: might hit me, so I didn't. That was pretty cool.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Salas feel to be the second best tight end in
- 5:11Speaker 5: the building.
- 5:13Speaker 2: That's good.
- 5:14Speaker 9: Uh Now, I always thought it was cool Richard Sherman
- 5:16Speaker 9: after Super Bowl forty nine kind of kneeling in front
- 5:18Speaker 9: of shaking Brady's hand.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I mean it was.
- 5:19Speaker 9: It was a little bit performative to me. Oh but
- 5:22Speaker 9: coming off of you, mad bro a couple of years before,
- 5:26Speaker 9: and so much respect for that defense. But Shrman's big dude,
- 5:28Speaker 9: I didn't I didn't have in person six three.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Yeah, big guys actually are.
- 5:33Speaker 9: And of course Turissa Thompson, Paul's he's friend was there
- 5:37Speaker 9: as well.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I was saying, I think Currisa and I may have
- 5:39Speaker 2: had a moment.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Okay.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I don't want to always walk by her on his
- 5:42Speaker 2: way to the bathroom. I mean I did, I did
- 5:43Speaker 2: actually see her. I don't want to overstay at the moment. Well,
- 5:46Speaker 2: Alex Ali had a little chat, yeah, chat.
- 5:51Speaker 3: And of course the main thing is the Patriots come
- 5:53Speaker 3: away with a thirteen point win over the New York
- 5:57Speaker 3: New Jersey Jets. So good stuff AFC East Patriots run the.
- 6:02Speaker 2: East right for sure, good stuff. Josh Allen. That's six touchdowns,
- 6:07Speaker 2: so so get ready in a few weeks, you guys,
- 6:09Speaker 2: and you're get ready.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Beer starting m VP I'm afraid of Mahomes.
- 6:14Speaker 3: I'm afraid, you know, like come on now, healthy respect
- 6:17Speaker 3: before the season we were, you know, if they can
- 6:20Speaker 3: just show improvement and Drake May can just show.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Them that's all gone exactly, that's all gone.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Like we've done that. Like we're on like.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Right, want you want now? You want the number one scene?
- 6:33Speaker 8: Right?
- 6:33Speaker 4: And you guys are afraid, who's it's all it's all gravy.
- 6:40Speaker 2: But you say, I'm afraid it's all gravy. You're human, Orange, don't.
- 6:44Speaker 3: I don't want any piece of Mahomes. A lot of
- 6:46Speaker 3: people have had pieces of him and they're beating them.
- 6:49Speaker 5: I mean, you want to play Mahomes in a wild
- 6:51Speaker 5: card game?
- 6:51Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 6:52Speaker 5: Like just like that, you're one and done and all
- 6:54Speaker 5: this great juju that we have this season.
- 6:57Speaker 4: So you've already lost the game.
- 6:58Speaker 5: I'm not saying you've already lost.
- 6:59Speaker 4: Each other said that, just like that, you're one of them.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Because comparatively speaking to what you normally would draw as
- 7:05Speaker 5: the seventh seed in the AFC, as a two seed.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Jacksonville who says we're going to be the seed.
- 7:11Speaker 5: Now, if that happens to be the Cats, we are
- 7:14Speaker 5: right now, they are the current two seed, and they
- 7:17Speaker 5: right now would face the Jaguars, which I think I'd
- 7:20Speaker 5: picked the Patriots to win the jackson against Jacksonville here
- 7:23Speaker 5: in January, when it's gonna be like twenty degrees, I
- 7:26Speaker 5: think I'd picked the Patriots to win that game by
- 7:27Speaker 5: three touchdowns. Okay, but if you have all of a sudden,
- 7:31Speaker 5: Baltimore sneaks in or Kansas City sneaks in, and now
- 7:34Speaker 5: you're playing one of those teams, and now we're gonna lose,
- 7:36Speaker 5: it's just a bad draws.
- 7:37Speaker 2: You're gonna lose. Why are you being why? Why you
- 7:40Speaker 2: it's just a bad draw?
- 7:41Speaker 5: We can't bad draw.
- 7:44Speaker 4: I just don't like the fear.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I don't know why that has to be classified as
- 7:48Speaker 2: fear when you look at teams with the pedigree of
- 7:51Speaker 2: Baltimore and Kansas City and Buffalo and you don't equate them.
- 7:55Speaker 3: With so all all seasons, the Jaguars or the Chargers,
- 7:59Speaker 3: all season were being told you got an easy schedule,
- 8:02Speaker 3: easy schedule.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Then you get to the playoffs and you want more
- 8:05Speaker 4: easy schedule.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Yes, who wouldn't you know?
- 8:07Speaker 3: Who taught me that? Fred Kurk, not me, Not me.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I take on all comers. Oh, I take on all comers.
- 8:14Speaker 5: I mean especially without the second by like you're playing
- 8:17Speaker 5: on wild card weekend. Unless you're the one seed and
- 8:21Speaker 5: you get Lamar Jackson on wild no one wants that.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Who would want that?
- 8:24Speaker 2: I mean Fred wantson. I mean that you can't win,
- 8:30Speaker 2: like Fred's this whole fear thing. It's just no, you're
- 8:33Speaker 2: comparing like you can get a seventh seed or a
- 8:35Speaker 2: six seed as opposed to a team like Baltimore who
- 8:39Speaker 2: had all kinds of things happened negatively in the first
- 8:42Speaker 2: six weeks of the season. If they end up turning
- 8:46Speaker 2: this around, like they look like they're on the way
- 8:48Speaker 2: to doing and they're say, I don't know, a twelve
- 8:51Speaker 2: win team and eleven win team and they go into
- 8:53Speaker 2: the playoffs of the seventh seed, that's better than playing Jacksonville.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I Mean what came to my mind was that Buffalo
- 9:01Speaker 2: is now just going to go.
- 9:02Speaker 9: Into I think I suck Greg Rosenthal, but like mash
- 9:04Speaker 9: the seventeen button, like now it's just.
- 9:06Speaker 2: They're getting down to the stretch.
- 9:07Speaker 9: They're going to lean into their MVP player Josh Allen,
- 9:10Speaker 9: and I think that's you know what you're going to
- 9:12Speaker 9: see down the stretch.
- 9:13Speaker 2: That's the guy that's going to come in here is
- 9:14Speaker 2: you know, it's not going to be Hey, let's wrest
- 9:16Speaker 2: some of our wide receivers or anything like that.
- 9:18Speaker 4: Question.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I have a Buffalo related question that I don't know
- 9:21Speaker 2: the answer to. I'm not I'm not on trial, not ayes,
- 9:24Speaker 2: I don't know, that's all. I can't. Why do they
- 9:26Speaker 2: have to play two Thursday night games? Why?
- 9:29Speaker 4: Why do they have to be?
- 9:31Speaker 2: Uh No, they do. They played Miami earlier in the
- 9:33Speaker 2: year on like Week three on a Thursday night, and
- 9:35Speaker 2: they're playing this Thursday.
- 9:36Speaker 9: Part of the rule change of that teams can play
- 9:39Speaker 9: too now because of the flex ruling.
- 9:40Speaker 3: All, obviously they can. But like I mean asking why
- 9:44Speaker 3: how did that happen? I mean, it's just schedule.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Gods, Yeah, I didn't down. I think it's ridiculous that
- 9:50Speaker 2: anybody who plays one Thursday night game, let alone.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Two, it is.
- 9:53Speaker 2: And that's why.
- 9:54Speaker 3: So you're saying everyone hates the Bills.
- 9:57Speaker 2: No, I'm not going to as that's.
- 10:01Speaker 3: A reserve for the Patriots, right, everybody hates I'm not
- 10:03Speaker 3: necessarily saying that, but it's it's weird to me.
- 10:06Speaker 2: That, you know, I know, thanksgivings a little different because sometimes, yeah,
- 10:11Speaker 2: you know, the Dallas is in Detroit's have to play
- 10:13Speaker 2: other Thursday night games.
- 10:14Speaker 4: But I don't know.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Sometimes I think you're someselves, you know, like the request
- 10:18Speaker 3: an individual team gives to the schedule, like we can't
- 10:21Speaker 3: play this game, we can't play this week that forces
- 10:24Speaker 3: them to say, well, if you're going to ask for
- 10:25Speaker 3: those requests, you're gonna have to play a second Thursday
- 10:27Speaker 3: night game.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Out having any of the information, I can't imagine anyone's
- 10:30Speaker 2: ever asked to play a second Thursday night.
- 10:33Speaker 4: I didn't say they asked for that.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I said that because of other requests they made, they
- 10:38Speaker 3: might have been can't have to play?
- 10:40Speaker 2: Like can you give me like an example, like we.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Have concerts or soccer games or whatever.
- 10:44Speaker 2: They need a road game in week fourteen.
- 10:46Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I don't mean you have to play on Thursday.
- 10:48Speaker 3: I'm just saying, like, like you said, no team request
- 10:51Speaker 3: to Thursday night.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Games, but no team would make a request that would
- 10:54Speaker 2: require you to have to play on a Thursday night.
- 10:56Speaker 2: That's That's what I'm saying. Who knows that, but someone
- 11:00Speaker 2: to your point, someone might say, well, our stadium is
- 11:02Speaker 2: busy in week twelve, right, so you play a road
- 11:05Speaker 2: game that week? Yeah, Like it doesn't necessarily have to
- 11:07Speaker 2: go to a road game on a Thursday night.
- 11:09Speaker 3: This some reason weird, There some reason why they ended
- 11:12Speaker 3: up with two Thursday night games, and I'm sure it
- 11:14Speaker 3: wasn't because they wanted.
- 11:15Speaker 2: It, and they're probably not the only one. I just
- 11:16Speaker 2: happened to notice it this week that Buffalo I was.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I looked at it. I was like, yeah, there was
- 11:20Speaker 2: an injury report for Buffalo came out. I just said,
- 11:22Speaker 2: why do they putt an injury report out? I'm like, oh,
- 11:24Speaker 2: they're playing Thursday turn around.
- 11:27Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 2: No, It's funny when we all get to watch football
- 11:29Speaker 2: on Sunday and soon to talk about.
- 11:31Speaker 4: It's not just theriots.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Can I just tie you spend your day? What a
- 11:33Speaker 2: terrific red zone Sundays? If you watch a lot of
- 11:36Speaker 2: games that went right down? Knowing that I enjoyed the
- 11:40Speaker 2: first of all, there were four really good matchups, but
- 11:42Speaker 2: in addition to that, a lot of the other games
- 11:45Speaker 2: even you know, like Carolina Atlanta, terrific game Tennessee Houston,
- 11:50Speaker 2: because as I spit at Tennessee.
- 11:52Speaker 4: Houston was at least two overtime games, right.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah, the morning game, which sent sent coaching back decades.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Coaching professional football.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Well, it didn't help with if they had just kicked
- 12:05Speaker 2: field goals, the game wouldn't have looked as bad as
- 12:07Speaker 2: it was. Like, let's put it that way, but yeah,
- 12:10Speaker 2: two bad teams.
- 12:11Speaker 4: I did.
- 12:11Speaker 5: When I was watching Bucks Bills, I started to really
- 12:18Speaker 5: be even more thankful for Mike Rabel and Stretch because
- 12:22Speaker 5: watching Todd Bowles punt the ball back to Buffalo repeatedly.
- 12:27Speaker 2: With this much was just that was ridiculous. I'm totally with.
- 12:31Speaker 5: It, agonizing three times in that game, and I'm sitting
- 12:34Speaker 5: there and I'm rooting hard for the Bucks, right, I'm like,
- 12:37Speaker 5: let's go Tampa Bay and they're going toe to toe.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Baker's going right down the field on that Bill's defense, and.
- 12:42Speaker 2: It's declared this is a shootout. You know what it
- 12:46Speaker 2: takes to win this game.
- 12:47Speaker 5: And he's punting the day with from on the other
- 12:50Speaker 5: side of the fifty, like he's punting the ball just
- 12:53Speaker 5: so right, and I was like, what are we doing?
- 12:56Speaker 5: And I I know not to like be that guy,
- 12:59Speaker 5: but there's no way that stretches telling were able to punt,
- 13:02Speaker 5: like there's no way, and there I'm sitting there and
- 13:05Speaker 5: I'm like, how are we were punting? They punted the
- 13:07Speaker 5: ball back to Buffalo in the fourth quarter down I
- 13:10Speaker 5: think it was five points in the fourth quarter when
- 13:13Speaker 5: they couldn't stop Buffalo the entire game, and I was like,
- 13:16Speaker 5: this is going to be a two score game within
- 13:19Speaker 5: two minutes.
- 13:20Speaker 2: And you know your funny part about that is and
- 13:22Speaker 2: I thought the Sully thing when I was I was
- 13:23Speaker 2: watching it thinking the same exact thing that Evan just said.
- 13:26Speaker 2: And then they actually stopped him. They had a quick
- 13:28Speaker 2: screen to Shakir that was like third and fifteen. They
- 13:31Speaker 2: had it bottled up and they rip him down by
- 13:33Speaker 2: his head and they got the ear hole and the
- 13:36Speaker 2: underneath of the help. Like they made it so blatantly
- 13:38Speaker 2: obvious they had to call it, and they gave him
- 13:40Speaker 2: a first down, and a couple of plays later they
- 13:42Speaker 2: had the two school They called out a face maskers.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you can't do that. But even if you
- 13:46Speaker 2: don't just grab the earhole, ear hole, the bottom of
- 13:49Speaker 2: the hell, you can't take a guy down by the help.
- 13:51Speaker 3: He can't any opening. You can't grab any opening.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Separate rule for that.
- 13:55Speaker 9: But you know what I enjoyed, Fred was I wasn't afraid,
- 13:58Speaker 9: but I did enjoy on Sunday morning, you know, just
- 14:00Speaker 9: screw around, pull up the standings, you know for the conference,
- 14:03Speaker 9: and I'm like, what is this two thousand and five,
- 14:04Speaker 9: and it's like New England won Indy two, you know,
- 14:07Speaker 9: right down the line of like it's just that that
- 14:10Speaker 9: visual of seeing the Patriots back on top. I mean,
- 14:12Speaker 9: I know it was albeit briefly, but still it was
- 14:15Speaker 9: pretty cool. Like my god, it's a lot different than
- 14:18Speaker 9: than the last couple of years with his team out
- 14:19Speaker 9: and there it is, unfortunately the Broncos, but.
- 14:21Speaker 2: You know, it's like right back to the old you know,
- 14:23Speaker 2: like I said, two thousand and five. So I'm gonna
- 14:25Speaker 2: go back just very briefly, maybe not the Bills, very
- 14:28Speaker 2: briefly scenario. Yeah, just again. I you know, I got
- 14:32Speaker 2: some heat for like cause I think it's silly to
- 14:35Speaker 2: talk about strength to victory and these times. That's the
- 14:37Speaker 2: perfect example right there. The fifth like Denver has the
- 14:41Speaker 2: tiebreaker because they haven't played the same amount of games
- 14:44Speaker 2: in the conference, So why are we even looking at it?
- 14:48Speaker 2: Just you need you want Denver to lose, you want
- 14:50Speaker 2: Indy to lose. They have the same amount of losses
- 14:52Speaker 2: that you do. Like, don't worry about the tie breakers now,
- 14:55Speaker 2: they're not they don't come into play.
- 14:56Speaker 5: Yet except when the Patriots and the number one see
- 15:00Speaker 5: because they're losing the time.
- 15:02Speaker 2: But you don't need that to get the number one seed.
- 15:04Speaker 5: And the number one seeds.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Well, like Mike said, heading into the Sunday games, they
- 15:11Speaker 2: had the number one seed because the game, right, it's
- 15:14Speaker 2: just the visuals have played an extra game in the conference.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I just like the visual it's meaningless.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Well even even like I saw the passing leaders. Drake
- 15:22Speaker 3: May's number one right now, but he also most of
- 15:25Speaker 3: those quarterback I think he has an extra game played, Yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 3: you know, because we haven't had a.
- 15:29Speaker 2: You're talking about in yards Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's yeah,
- 15:32Speaker 2: he's there's a couple that would probably pass him when
- 15:35Speaker 2: they play this the important completion percentage, he's one, I
- 15:38Speaker 2: think rating he's two, he's he's top three and everything. Yeah,
- 15:45Speaker 2: so there's a good one. You talk about things that happened.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Maybe this isn't necessarily team related, but it was a
- 15:52Speaker 2: good weekend for Drake May's MVP candidates. Yea, right, yeah,
- 15:55Speaker 2: because Sam Donald regrets to the mean. Finally, Hey, Jonathan
- 15:59Speaker 2: Taylor didn't play right, so he didn't help his candidacy.
- 16:04Speaker 2: B Sam Donald threw four picks.
- 16:05Speaker 3: So cruss him off the this thing, right, Although.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford was very average, I mean, he didn't play
- 16:13Speaker 2: a bad game. He kind of did what he had
- 16:14Speaker 2: to do to win the game, but threw for like
- 16:16Speaker 2: one hundred and thirty yards and two touchdowns, so didn't
- 16:20Speaker 2: have gaudy stats. Good week, good week for Drake May's Canadas.
- 16:24Speaker 2: You know, look, Josh Allen, what I was just gonna say.
- 16:28Speaker 2: I mean, I honestly don't think he's really in it.
- 16:31Speaker 5: Six touchdowns, I do, he's well, he's in and off
- 16:35Speaker 5: of reputation. Like if he's not had a great year,
- 16:37Speaker 5: if he finishes the back end of the season like this,
- 16:40Speaker 5: that's that's different. But it's not based off of what.
- 16:43Speaker 3: I'm assuming and that he keeps playing.
- 16:46Speaker 2: He did throw two picks, one of which was absolutely horrific.
- 16:49Speaker 2: The other one was meaningless. It was a fourth down
- 16:52Speaker 2: like heave that one, but the one out of the
- 16:55Speaker 2: end zone is as bad as play as you'll ever
- 16:56Speaker 2: see a quarterback make It's.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Hard to uh if you're just looking at the MVP
- 17:00Speaker 5: through eleven weeks. I think Drake has the best cage said,
- 17:06Speaker 5: He's got all the counting stats, all the advanced metrics.
- 17:10Speaker 5: I think you can make the argument that he has
- 17:12Speaker 5: the worst supporting cast out of all the guys that
- 17:14Speaker 5: we're talking about, that he's propping up right now most
- 17:17Speaker 5: wins in the NFL. It's hard to make a really
- 17:22Speaker 5: great argument other than Josh Allen is going on a
- 17:25Speaker 5: tear in the second half of the season to steal
- 17:28Speaker 5: it from him. I guess you could make an argument
- 17:30Speaker 5: for Stafford. But even still with Stafford.
- 17:33Speaker 3: I was thinking about, like the MVP, and you know
- 17:37Speaker 3: some people, it used to be best player in the
- 17:39Speaker 3: best team, and now it's sort of changed to the
- 17:43Speaker 3: guy who is on one of the best teams with
- 17:46Speaker 3: the least support. So you know, when your quarterback or
- 17:52Speaker 3: your player gets that award under those conditions, is that
- 17:55Speaker 3: kind of like an insult to the rest of the team.
- 17:58Speaker 9: I mean, I think if you take it that way,
- 17:59Speaker 9: I don't think it's explicitly said in the in the
- 18:01Speaker 9: War that that's what it is. I mean, I get
- 18:03Speaker 9: what you're saying, and I kind of agree that's what
- 18:05Speaker 9: the MVP kind of should be. I mean, Offensive Player
- 18:07Speaker 9: of the Year should be somebody who's the best.
- 18:11Speaker 2: But yeah, very you know, that's my philosophy on the MVP.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Laid out who elevates the team the most?
- 18:16Speaker 2: But who wants to tell?
- 18:16Speaker 9: Who wants to go tell the Patriots like the reason
- 18:18Speaker 9: he won because the rest who wants to play?
- 18:22Speaker 3: You know, well it just you don't want to use
- 18:24Speaker 3: the same word value, because but whose play is most
- 18:27Speaker 3: responsible for that team winning?
- 18:30Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 18:31Speaker 5: You know, well this is why Josh Allen wanted last year. Yeah, yeah,
- 18:35Speaker 5: this is what This was what the voters, most of
- 18:37Speaker 5: the voters that uh, you know publicly stated the reason
- 18:40Speaker 5: why they voted one way or another was that they
- 18:43Speaker 5: felt like Josh Allen's supporting cast was worse than Lamar Jackson's.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Lamar Jackson had a great defense, he had Derrick Henry,
- 18:49Speaker 5: and they felt like it was harder for Josh Allen
- 18:52Speaker 5: to do what he did. And so Josh Allen won
- 18:54Speaker 5: the MVP. And if we're going to go off the
- 18:56Speaker 5: same set of circumstances, you know, the same rule, then
- 19:01Speaker 5: I think it's hard to argue that the other guys
- 19:03Speaker 5: that are in the conversation, it's not the same thing.
- 19:06Speaker 2: So the argument I made last week. Now, Matthew Stafford,
- 19:09Speaker 2: who I think has had an MVP year, eye popping
- 19:14Speaker 2: stats for Matthew Stafford, but he.
- 19:16Speaker 5: Has Pookin Decour and Devonte and.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Kyn Williams and Devonte Adams who has I think ten touchdowns.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Now Drake doesn't have all that. Now I'm not saying
- 19:26Speaker 2: that Drake has got nothing, but he doesn't have you know,
- 19:30Speaker 2: a top five receiver in the league. So I think
- 19:35Speaker 2: you get extra points for that.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Another thing that over the weekend that I kind of
- 19:39Speaker 3: thought this going into the weekend, but this weekend confirmed
- 19:42Speaker 3: me one of the best offensive players in the AFC,
- 19:45Speaker 3: if not.
- 19:45Speaker 2: The league is a chain. Oh.
- 19:47Speaker 3: I mean, he is such a double threat and he's
- 19:50Speaker 3: so good. He is so good. He's the best offensive
- 19:53Speaker 3: player on that team, which is saying a lot and
- 19:58Speaker 3: I just have a lot of respect for that guy.
- 20:00Speaker 2: He's a good player, yeah, absolutely, yeahs to get down
- 20:05Speaker 2: in bounds though, don't step out of bound.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Yeah, But in terms of just the talent, you know,
- 20:10Speaker 3: he's driving that team right now.
- 20:13Speaker 9: You guys think mc daniel's really going to survive like
- 20:15Speaker 9: I would just as a Dolphins fan. I think I
- 20:17Speaker 9: would be kind of disappointed if if they were going
- 20:19Speaker 9: to try to sell me on let's run it back
- 20:21Speaker 9: with two and McDaniel.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I think it just depends on what they do with GM.
- 20:24Speaker 3: If the GM doesn't have any juice, then he stays.
- 20:27Speaker 3: If not, he could go.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yeah. I think that there's a So Miami is not good,
- 20:32Speaker 2: and I'm not suggesting they are. I will say they're
- 20:35Speaker 2: playing hard, and I think their schedule gets very light,
- 20:38Speaker 2: and I think they're going to win some games. And
- 20:41Speaker 2: if they do, if they take care of business and
- 20:43Speaker 2: win these games, I think he probably will stay. The
- 20:45Speaker 2: quarterback is going to stay because I think it's really money.
- 20:50Speaker 2: The money will kill them, like and it's cash. I'm
- 20:52Speaker 2: not talking about cap dead money, No, I'm talking about
- 20:57Speaker 2: money they owe him.
- 20:58Speaker 4: If that becomes dead mind, if they get rid of.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't really care about the cap. I'm talking
- 21:02Speaker 2: about cash. They have to pay him to not play
- 21:04Speaker 2: for them. I don't think that they will do well.
- 21:06Speaker 4: Don't they have to pay it for him to play
- 21:08Speaker 4: as well?
- 21:09Speaker 2: Yeah, but he's playing for you. You he's your quarterback.
- 21:12Speaker 2: That it's different.
- 21:12Speaker 3: So in other way, and I don't have the DT,
- 21:15Speaker 3: you might be right, you'd be paying double. You're saying
- 21:17Speaker 3: you're paying double if they bring in.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Another I think I saw something that they owe.
- 21:21Speaker 5: Him, probably lifety sixty million.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought I saw forty six. But yeah, so yeah,
- 21:27Speaker 2: it's not in cash, but they have to. They're obligated
- 21:31Speaker 2: to pay him.
- 21:31Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yeah, like no one's going to trade for him. That's
- 21:35Speaker 2: the only way you get out of paying him that money.
- 21:37Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 21:38Speaker 5: I think you always get into a tough spot with
- 21:40Speaker 5: coaches like McDaniel where you're not going to find a
- 21:44Speaker 5: better offensive architect than Mike McDaniel, but you might find
- 21:48Speaker 5: like the whole leader amend thing right, like a better
- 21:51Speaker 5: head coach yep than Mike McDaniel. And so it's a
- 21:53Speaker 5: tough it's always toime.
- 21:54Speaker 2: If they could do the reverse of Vance Joseph with
- 21:57Speaker 2: him to send him to the offensive coordinator. Yeah, like
- 22:00Speaker 2: bring in a coach to oversee it and say, but
- 22:03Speaker 2: but we love what you do with the offense, Mike, Yeah,
- 22:08Speaker 2: team anymore. Yeah, Like Denver is probably the best defense
- 22:11Speaker 2: in football.
- 22:11Speaker 3: So ESPN is talking about the Kansas City Colts matchup
- 22:15Speaker 3: coming up this Sunday. I mean, listen, Patriots fans, you
- 22:18Speaker 3: have to be rooting hard for Mahomes this week.
- 22:21Speaker 4: You have to.
- 22:23Speaker 3: We need the Colts to lose, so you know, no.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Come on, we're gonna get that one.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Number one Sea.
- 22:31Speaker 4: I want to remove all doubt.
- 22:32Speaker 2: I'm with you because I'm focused on trying to get
- 22:34Speaker 2: the top seed. If I'm if I'm the Patriots, that's
- 22:36Speaker 2: that's my goal. It's worth everything.
- 22:38Speaker 9: I mean, have a buy nowadays, there's only one left.
- 22:41Speaker 9: I mean, that's and we'll see then who the bottom
- 22:43Speaker 9: seat is waiting for you at the other side.
- 22:45Speaker 3: But yeah, and listen, I hear what you're saying. Mahomes
- 22:49Speaker 3: is Mahomes, But I'm not sure. I wouldn't rather have
- 22:53Speaker 3: Mahomes coming to Gellette than us going to Denver.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Absolutely rather have Mahomes coming to Gillette than going to Denver.
- 23:00Speaker 2: But I'd rather go to Indye than have Mahomes come
- 23:02Speaker 2: to July.
- 23:03Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, you can always say that rather but yeah,
- 23:05Speaker 4: at the end of the day.
- 23:06Speaker 5: My chances against bo Knicks in the playoffs not.
- 23:09Speaker 2: In that building. Even Brady couldn't win there consistently. It's tough.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Four and seven, Yeah, Brady and Bill were four and
- 23:17Speaker 2: seven in Denver, three playoff losses there too, and three
- 23:21Speaker 2: in the playoffs.
- 23:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 23:22Speaker 5: I don't know. I just I don't want. I would
- 23:24Speaker 5: prefer a playoff picture if I was the Patriots that
- 23:27Speaker 5: doesn't have Lamar or.
- 23:28Speaker 7: Mahomes in it.
- 23:29Speaker 5: But so whatever, whatever has to happen to make that
- 23:31Speaker 5: happen than five.
- 23:32Speaker 3: But here we are, after eleven games, talking about playoff
- 23:37Speaker 3: seeding because.
- 23:39Speaker 5: It's crazy, but it's crazy it receeds. So like if
- 23:43Speaker 5: even if you get the number one seed and you
- 23:46Speaker 5: have a buye to the divisional round and they upset
- 23:49Speaker 5: somebody in the first round, which they probably will, then
- 23:52Speaker 5: the divisional round is now Mahomes or Lamar Jackson coming
- 23:55Speaker 5: to New England. So whatever keeps those two guys out
- 23:59Speaker 5: of the wild card, now Baltimore might win the division.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so that you might.
- 24:05Speaker 5: You might get lucky that Baltimore might.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Don't like to tell people what they should think, so
- 24:08Speaker 2: I'm going to say this anyway, that's not what I mean.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I don't mean to, but that's what you should be
- 24:12Speaker 2: rooting for with Baltimore. Is that that they overtake Pittsburgh
- 24:15Speaker 2: and win the division, and then you wouldn't have to
- 24:17Speaker 2: see them, right, more than likely until later on.
- 24:21Speaker 9: I think, to Evan's point, like set up Josh Allen
- 24:23Speaker 9: to have to play one of those teams, Like you know,
- 24:24Speaker 9: you want like the Bills Chiefs matchup in the first round.
- 24:26Speaker 9: You want the Bills Ravens somehow, you know, get try
- 24:29Speaker 9: to get one of those guys out asap.
- 24:31Speaker 5: But like if you end up losing, give me the
- 24:33Speaker 5: march the Tomato Cans.
- 24:36Speaker 4: Do you think there are any team saying we don't
- 24:37Speaker 4: want to be playing the Patriots.
- 24:39Speaker 2: No?
- 24:40Speaker 5: No, really, I think you're like kind of spinning. You're
- 24:43Speaker 5: saying like you don't want to play, like I think
- 24:46Speaker 5: they're like automatically going to lose. I just want the
- 24:49Speaker 5: easiest path.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Like to be clear, I don't think anybody's saying that
- 24:51Speaker 2: about Denver or Indy either. I think the people will
- 24:53Speaker 2: focus on five, six and seven, not one, two and three. Yep, No,
- 24:56Speaker 2: I think that's fair. But is there a chance that
- 24:58Speaker 2: those teams just aren't as good as they used to be? Y?
- 25:02Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, But just like there is a chance there
- 25:04Speaker 5: was a chance in twenty eighteen that the Patriots just
- 25:07Speaker 5: weren't as good as they used to be.
- 25:08Speaker 9: Yeah, and then you got to the playoffs and they
- 25:10Speaker 9: kicked into another gear. And that's I think what everybody's
- 25:13Speaker 9: waiting for with Kansas City Baltimore's sure, you know, you
- 25:16Speaker 9: just assume we'll be the team to knock him off.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Yeah, well we'll see.
- 25:19Speaker 9: I mean, I just I think every one of these
- 25:20Speaker 9: games is a coin flip, whether it's Kansas City coming
- 25:23Speaker 9: here or you know, I think the Patriots have a
- 25:24Speaker 9: chance against everybody, and I think everybody has a chance
- 25:27Speaker 9: against the Patriots, But the Bigs last six games.
- 25:30Speaker 2: I mean, it's a lot that can happen.
- 25:31Speaker 9: As Milton Williams come back and he's healthy and ready
- 25:33Speaker 9: to go in prime for the playoffs, like that might be.
- 25:35Speaker 2: You guys work out more in tune with this stuff
- 25:37Speaker 2: because you pay attention. Is there any information about Milton
- 25:41Speaker 2: Williams beyond ir like anybody thin four to six weeks?
- 25:45Speaker 5: Okay, that's what they're reporting is right now.
- 25:47Speaker 2: And because those high ankle sprains we know can be
- 25:49Speaker 2: a lot of you know, variants. Yes, it feels like
- 25:52Speaker 2: the optimistic view would be that he'd be the fact that.
- 25:57Speaker 3: He came out and played after the injury for a
- 26:01Speaker 3: few plays.
- 26:03Speaker 9: Feel because Gronk came back and played at the end
- 26:06Speaker 9: of the AFC Championship right like in that twenty eleven
- 26:08Speaker 9: like didn't come on just block or something, and he did.
- 26:11Speaker 2: He was just I think that's the thing with his
- 26:14Speaker 2: point is he came back and played on it in
- 26:16Speaker 2: the AFC Championship game, and two weeks later he couldn't.
- 26:19Speaker 9: Like, I just I think that's the high ankle sprain.
- 26:21Speaker 9: It's it's it's not like this killer pain, but you
- 26:25Speaker 9: just have no juice to push off anymore, and so
- 26:27Speaker 9: you know, it's it's one of those weird ones.
- 26:29Speaker 5: It also it swells overnight, didn't Jones?
- 26:33Speaker 3: Matt Jones had the high ankle sprain famously. Now how
- 26:38Speaker 3: long come back?
- 26:40Speaker 5: He came back in a month, Yeah, a month of
- 26:43Speaker 5: three to four weeks. But I think the biggest thing,
- 26:45Speaker 5: right is that, like, dude, does he have a procedure
- 26:48Speaker 5: on it, like the tightrope to try to expedite recovery
- 26:52Speaker 5: or do they think that rest and rehab and all
- 26:56Speaker 5: that good stuff is going to do the trick Because
- 26:59Speaker 5: a lot of guys go and get they get procedures done.
- 27:02Speaker 2: If they should have him back for the stretch and
- 27:04Speaker 2: you know in the playoffs that you know that'll be
- 27:06Speaker 2: that's a relief, but it is it's a bummer that
- 27:08Speaker 2: he misses Baltimore and Buffalo. Yeah, any game, right, I mean,
- 27:15Speaker 2: like those two games, they're gonna need to have surgery
- 27:17Speaker 2: so he can get back for the Miami and the Jets. Like,
- 27:20Speaker 2: like I I'd prefer to avoid surgery whenever possible and
- 27:24Speaker 2: you know, let him try to get healthy on his own.
- 27:25Speaker 2: But I mean it's one of those injuries where there
- 27:27Speaker 2: seems like there's a wide range of recovery, time, severity,
- 27:31Speaker 2: all that things it does. He's been their best probably
- 27:34Speaker 2: their best defensive player. Yeah, so it's it's a loss now.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I do think, and I was listening to Evans Boy
- 27:42Speaker 2: Alex Bathy, I do think they have some depth that
- 27:45Speaker 2: that'spot They don't have Milton Williams. So I know some
- 27:48Speaker 2: people sort of attacked Alex are being too rosy about this.
- 27:52Speaker 2: He's not suggesting that you don't need Milton Williams, but
- 27:55Speaker 2: they do have kind of a one, A and one
- 27:57Speaker 2: you know, with Barmore, So they have a really good player.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Now Tonga probably plays a little bit more.
- 28:04Speaker 7: Now.
- 28:04Speaker 2: The big question to me is those guys that sort
- 28:07Speaker 2: of see sporadic playing time, can any of them play
- 28:10Speaker 2: with the same effectiveness with more with more playing time,
- 28:15Speaker 2: you know, like those those two that Mike just mentioned him.
- 28:18Speaker 2: You know, Dirtin he goes out there and he tends
- 28:20Speaker 2: to flash a little bit in his handful of plays
- 28:23Speaker 2: that he gets every game. If you're going to ask
- 28:24Speaker 2: him to play twenty plays, now, does he flash? I
- 28:27Speaker 2: don't know, we haven't seen it. You know, I'm not
- 28:29Speaker 2: saying it's really good.
- 28:30Speaker 5: He's been really kind of sneaky good for a while now, Dirtin,
- 28:33Speaker 5: and they hope that he can step up. And he
- 28:36Speaker 5: was the guy that played a lot on third down
- 28:38Speaker 5: once Milon Williams went out of the game. It was
- 28:40Speaker 5: kind of him and bar More inside and then Tonga
- 28:43Speaker 5: just you know, short yardage when it's you know, third
- 28:45Speaker 5: and one, third and two, obviously you're gonna have Toga
- 28:47Speaker 5: in there, but Dirtin is kind of going to be
- 28:50Speaker 5: the other guy now, and you just hope that that
- 28:52Speaker 5: maybe they can do some of this.
- 28:55Speaker 3: You think this kind of mini break can help Landry
- 28:57Speaker 3: get back into shape or is what he is now
- 29:00Speaker 3: going to be what he is for the rest of
- 29:01Speaker 3: the season.
- 29:02Speaker 5: Yeah, you hope.
- 29:02Speaker 2: It's a great question, Fred I think that's a great questions.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Is he is he hurt or is he slowing down?
- 29:08Speaker 2: Or Richard? And yeah, he injured.
- 29:10Speaker 9: It does sound like the Swinson move is more somebody
- 29:14Speaker 9: wanted to poach him. But I also think that the
- 29:17Speaker 9: pass rush needs to improve, it needs to be better,
- 29:19Speaker 9: and they just they haven't been quite consistent enough.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Because listen, no one is Milton Williams, so there's going
- 29:25Speaker 3: to be a drop off. And when you have bomb
- 29:29Speaker 3: War and Williams in the middle, that creates that push
- 29:31Speaker 3: They don't. It doesn't always register for a sack, but
- 29:34Speaker 3: it it gives the quarterback less room to maneuver, and
- 29:38Speaker 3: you're going to lose some of that. So pressure needs
- 29:41Speaker 3: to come from other places too.
- 29:44Speaker 5: Ponder's gone in there, He's giving them a little bit.
- 29:47Speaker 5: I don't know if he's quite surpassed Landry yet, but
- 29:50Speaker 5: I think that that's closer than maybe you would have
- 29:52Speaker 5: imagined it being. And then, you know, I think that's
- 29:55Speaker 5: the biggest thing, is they already had like an average
- 29:58Speaker 5: four man pass rush, and so now can you generate
- 30:01Speaker 5: pressure with just four without Milton Williams or are you
- 30:04Speaker 5: going to have to be more creative in the pass
- 30:06Speaker 5: rush and start blitzing a little bit more. And we
- 30:08Speaker 5: obviously know the domino effect of what that does to
- 30:11Speaker 5: the back end, so.
- 30:12Speaker 2: It's it's a whole thing, so nothing of what it
- 30:14Speaker 2: does to the offense. If Tonga's snaps are.
- 30:17Speaker 5: Affected, Yeah, I don't think that's going to happen.
- 30:19Speaker 7: I don't.
- 30:20Speaker 2: I think they'll probably leave him in a similar role defensively, don't.
- 30:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't if he has to play ten more
- 30:26Speaker 5: snaps on defense now the three snaps a game he
- 30:28Speaker 5: plays on offense, we have to throw those out, y know.
- 30:31Speaker 2: And I'm not sure that that his role is going
- 30:33Speaker 2: to expand dramatically defensively. Me neither because of what you said. Yeah,
- 30:37Speaker 2: he's kind of a niche right down.
- 30:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know if he's going to play on
- 30:41Speaker 5: third and long.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Although he does collapse the poppet when he's in there
- 30:44Speaker 2: and pass all quick. He's a wrecking ball.
- 30:46Speaker 9: I mean, it's been I mean that was something that
- 30:48Speaker 9: I have big question coming in the year behind Williams
- 30:51Speaker 9: and Barmore.
- 30:51Speaker 2: What else did they have?
- 30:52Speaker 9: I mean, Tongo isn't under the radar signing Dirden. When
- 30:55Speaker 9: did he show up? I mean sometime in camp. I
- 30:57Speaker 9: don't remember.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Exactly what was on.
- 30:58Speaker 9: I think the Giants right right, right right, you know,
- 31:02Speaker 9: and Josh Farmer too, who's who's been a little banged up.
- 31:04Speaker 9: But you know, again, maybe like Travon Henderson, we get
- 31:07Speaker 9: a little increased opportunity here, a chance to contribute. They're
- 31:10Speaker 9: going to need those guys for sure, and they I
- 31:12Speaker 9: think they got to find some juice off the edge
- 31:14Speaker 9: to know.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I think said it perfectly.
- 31:16Speaker 9: It sounds stupid, but like they have an average pass rush,
- 31:18Speaker 9: they're an a you know, for all the praise we
- 31:20Speaker 9: heap on them for how aggressive they are, at the
- 31:22Speaker 9: end of the day, you know, it's it's not quite this,
- 31:25Speaker 9: you know, top notch pass rush that.
- 31:27Speaker 2: We'll turn the page tomorrow to the Bengals. But I
- 31:30Speaker 2: think that's going to be a big part. I mean,
- 31:33Speaker 2: Joe Joe Flacco does not move well anymore. He's forty
- 31:37Speaker 2: years old. He's not gonna want to stand in there
- 31:39Speaker 2: and take hits. They're starting to add up to that,
- 31:41Speaker 2: you see that you don't want to devote too much
- 31:44Speaker 2: in terms of you don't want to get too aggressive
- 31:46Speaker 2: the way you go after him, because you need the
- 31:47Speaker 2: guys in coverage even if Chase doesn't win his appeal
- 31:52Speaker 2: on the.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Other side of the ball. I know Tomorrow's turned the
- 31:55Speaker 3: page day, but Hendrickson out for the game.
- 31:58Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, he hasn't played while doubtful. Doubtful, yeah, Zach
- 32:02Speaker 5: Taylor said.
- 32:03Speaker 3: And then Chase with their with their appeal, what do
- 32:06Speaker 3: you think the chances of that getting overturned?
- 32:09Speaker 5: Very slim slim.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Yeah, they got the approved film with that. That was
- 32:13Speaker 2: one giant lungy.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Well, and the thing is, he's like, well mate. The
- 32:16Speaker 3: only defense I could see him saying is I was
- 32:18Speaker 3: just talking and it came out. But I don't think
- 32:21Speaker 3: the other player certainly didn't think so.
- 32:23Speaker 2: I don't think that's much of a defense. I think
- 32:24Speaker 2: you spit at him.
- 32:26Speaker 12: Not.
- 32:26Speaker 2: My only thing is it's unprecedented. The suspension is unprecedented.
- 32:30Speaker 2: It's a fine until now. So that's the only thing
- 32:33Speaker 2: I will And the guy in the beginning of the season,
- 32:36Speaker 2: because he got he got ejected from that game. He
- 32:39Speaker 2: did not get suspended, but will you let me finish
- 32:42Speaker 2: for once? I'm just I think he's going to be suspended.
- 32:45Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to get overturned.
- 32:46Speaker 7: Was told.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Want to know that the reason why he didn't get
- 32:49Speaker 3: suspended because he missed the whole game, right.
- 32:52Speaker 4: It happened even before the first snap.
- 32:54Speaker 2: And it's so so still no one who's ever spit
- 32:57Speaker 2: on somebody has been.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Suspended, I understand.
- 32:58Speaker 3: But they said that he would have been had it
- 33:01Speaker 3: happened later in the game chasing.
- 33:04Speaker 9: They would have kicked chasing and he wouldn't have been.
- 33:07Speaker 9: He's been under suspension. They'd seen it and thrown him
- 33:10Speaker 9: out of the Thank you.
- 33:11Speaker 5: It was time served.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Dak Prescott spit at Jalen Carter in the same game,
- 33:18Speaker 2: and they have it on video and they didn't suspend him.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Why because they deemed that it didn't hit him.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Did they find him.
- 33:28Speaker 5: On the ground generally spit at him. Let's call it
- 33:31Speaker 5: what it was, Okay, But I'm just telling you what
- 33:33Speaker 5: they the league didn't agree with you. That's just what.
- 33:37Speaker 2: I would disagree with.
- 33:38Speaker 4: But they didn't even find him.
- 33:39Speaker 2: I don't know what they I don't know about a fine.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I don't know about a fine. Okay, I didn't get suspended.
- 33:46Speaker 3: I think the point is with the one in the
- 33:48Speaker 3: beginning season, it was time served.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I think he is going to stay suspended. Yeah, it's
- 33:53Speaker 2: very However, I'm not going to be surprised if it's
- 33:55Speaker 2: overturned because of the precedent. That's all the president. President
- 33:59Speaker 2: fines suspension.
- 34:00Speaker 5: That's not true, Paul. The president is suspension. Jalen Carter
- 34:03Speaker 5: got suspended. He got ejected, yes, from the game, for
- 34:07Speaker 5: fighting and if he had spin on the guy in
- 34:09Speaker 5: the second quarter what they said.
- 34:11Speaker 2: But they've never done it. But he's what I'm saying,
- 34:13Speaker 2: time sir. If they do it with this one, it
- 34:16Speaker 2: will be the first.
- 34:17Speaker 5: Okay.
- 34:18Speaker 2: And I think he should be suspended because I think
- 34:20Speaker 2: I saw on video he clearly spent right at him.
- 34:23Speaker 2: He should be suspended for that.
- 34:25Speaker 5: The reason.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I don't think there's any gray area. I think he's out.
- 34:28Speaker 5: The reason why I said when president, they literally said
- 34:31Speaker 5: it was the reason why Jim Marchin.
- 34:33Speaker 2: I know what they said. I don't believe them. We
- 34:36Speaker 2: just have a difference of opinion. I don't believe that
- 34:38Speaker 2: he would have been suspended.
- 34:39Speaker 5: And understand how this could be a difference in opinion.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Because he got he got ejected from the game for fighting,
- 34:44Speaker 2: and I don't believe they would have suspended him if
- 34:46Speaker 2: he hadn't gotten ejected. I don't believe it. Maybe they
- 34:48Speaker 2: would have. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see. That's all I'm saying.
- 34:51Speaker 2: That was that was I know that that's what they said.
- 34:54Speaker 2: The just are the facts that Evan just Evan just
- 34:57Speaker 2: presented the facts, and they are undisputed, as they said,
- 35:00Speaker 2: and not a good message. Is exactly right, Evan is
- 35:04Speaker 2: one thousand percent. You're not wrong. You were not wrong.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Thank you. You are absolutely you guys have said exactly
- 35:12Speaker 2: what the league said. I don't believe the league. Okay,
- 35:15Speaker 2: this is what I'm trying to say to you, But
- 35:17Speaker 2: you guys are absolutely right, one thousand percent. That's exactly
- 35:20Speaker 2: what the league said.
- 35:21Speaker 5: It's very clear that the league does not they considered
- 35:24Speaker 5: time served. They don't want people spinning on people. Choker
- 35:28Speaker 5: can So that was Cowboys quarterbacks. So now it's going
- 35:31Speaker 5: to be this is the president that if you spin
- 35:33Speaker 5: on somebody, you are either going to get ejected immediately
- 35:36Speaker 5: or suspended. And I think that that's and I will.
- 35:39Speaker 2: That's why it's going to be up and I'm going
- 35:40Speaker 2: to watch, and believe me, I will tell you if
- 35:43Speaker 2: I start to see suspensions for this going forward, I
- 35:46Speaker 2: will say, you guys were right. That was the first one,
- 35:49Speaker 2: was the jail and Carter one, and that's what they've
- 35:51Speaker 2: started to do. I don't I think they pick and choose,
- 35:53Speaker 2: and I think it's all about these appruval films after
- 35:56Speaker 2: the fact. I don't think they wanted to suspend these guys.
- 35:58Speaker 2: I think they want to just find them.
- 35:59Speaker 5: Now do you think that this should be suspendable, because
- 36:03Speaker 5: yes I do. I think it's the worst thing you
- 36:05Speaker 5: can do, disgusting, disgusting. But it's like, I don't know.
- 36:09Speaker 2: I'm not telling you that, like Jamar Chase is this guy, look,
- 36:12Speaker 2: he lost his mind. Jalen Ramsey does this to a
- 36:14Speaker 2: lot of people. I'm not saying that this needs to
- 36:17Speaker 2: be like what Jamar Chase is known for the rest
- 36:18Speaker 2: of it. You can't spit on a guy yet.
- 36:20Speaker 5: I mean, I don't want to be suspended. I don't
- 36:22Speaker 5: want anybody anybody either. But like I know, suspensions a little.
- 36:26Speaker 3: I know, like everybody says, well, you know, kids are watching,
- 36:29Speaker 3: but it is true, and that's why they stop this because.
- 36:33Speaker 2: It's not watching.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Kids aren't watching.
- 36:36Speaker 2: No, no, no, kids get better things to do.
- 36:40Speaker 5: I just think that it's a little it's a little aggressive.
- 36:43Speaker 2: How much funny is he gonna lose a game? Check
- 36:46Speaker 2: its four and forty one expensive loogie? Yeah yeah, And
- 36:51Speaker 2: I like I do. I think you should be suspended
- 36:54Speaker 2: for that. Im out because I wanted to see Gonzo
- 36:58Speaker 2: going against Jamar Chase.
- 36:59Speaker 5: But it's like that's my point of.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Need. Like, so I'm flying to Cincinnati.
- 37:04Speaker 4: What my My entire.
- 37:07Speaker 5: Existence is always about my own entertainment. So the more
- 37:10Speaker 5: like interesting things about a game storyline wise, I'm all for.
- 37:15Speaker 2: So.
- 37:15Speaker 5: I know a lot of Patriots friends are celebrating that
- 37:17Speaker 5: Jamar Chase isn't going to play in this game. I'm
- 37:19Speaker 5: not one of them.
- 37:20Speaker 4: I want to you want to beat the best, Well.
- 37:22Speaker 5: They're gonna win anyways, So like I just much rather
- 37:25Speaker 5: win with everybody out there. I'd much rather be able
- 37:28Speaker 5: to watch Gon's over as Jamar Chase for four quarters,
- 37:31Speaker 5: go toe to toe, like that's just more exciting football,
- 37:33Speaker 5: Like this is gonna be their backup quarterback with a
- 37:36Speaker 5: bump shoulder. By the way, Joe Flacco is a bad shoulder.
- 37:39Speaker 5: And you know, without Jamar Chase and without Trey Hendrickson, Like,
- 37:43Speaker 5: it's just not not a whole lot, not a whole lot.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Okay, Kyle has something to say about Evan. He says,
- 37:51Speaker 3: Evan when talking about the Chiefs, you want to be
- 37:53Speaker 3: one and done. Evan seconds later, backpedaling, We can't just
- 37:56Speaker 3: say it's a bad draw. You weren't saying it was
- 37:59Speaker 3: a bad You were saying it's a loss. Your May
- 38:01Speaker 3: fan club card is revoked because you clearly don't believe
- 38:05Speaker 3: in him or the team. This is an over exaggerated joke,
- 38:09Speaker 3: but in all seriousness, I don't fear any team, and
- 38:11Speaker 3: I think May and the Page one can beat any
- 38:13Speaker 3: team in the playoffs.
- 38:17Speaker 4: MAYVP, MAYVP.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Yeah, now I agree with that.
- 38:20Speaker 9: I mean, do you feel the same way about the
- 38:21Speaker 9: NFC though, Like I don't. I don't know if I
- 38:22Speaker 9: necessarily feel the same about.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Listen, if we have to play an NFC team, it'll
- 38:26Speaker 2: be in the Super Bowl. Let's go like this whole
- 38:29Speaker 2: classification of fear, Like, I don't know what you want
- 38:32Speaker 2: to call it. There are some teams i'd rather not
- 38:34Speaker 2: see like I don't know, Like if you want to
- 38:36Speaker 2: say that like that, that you're afraid or not afraid,
- 38:38Speaker 2: I don't care. Semanticket all you want. I don't know.
- 38:41Speaker 2: I would rather play Jacksonville or Indy than Baltimore or
- 38:47Speaker 2: Kansas City. I don't care what the records are. I would.
- 38:50Speaker 2: I think that they have better players than those other
- 38:52Speaker 2: teams do.
- 38:52Speaker 5: It just feels like nowadays too, like once these teams
- 38:55Speaker 5: are in the dance, like especially with these Hall of
- 38:58Speaker 5: Fame future Hall of Fame VP quarterbacks, like, but once
- 39:02Speaker 5: Kansas City is in the dance, I know that they
- 39:04Speaker 5: might have had the best season that they've ever had.
- 39:07Speaker 5: But if they stumble in at ten and seven or
- 39:09Speaker 5: nine and eight, they're still going to be a tough
- 39:11Speaker 5: out in the playoffs. I would just I would play
- 39:14Speaker 5: Denver or Indianapolis anywhere. I play him here. I play
- 39:19Speaker 5: them in Denver, I play them in Madrid, I play
- 39:22Speaker 5: them in Australia. I don't care. I am taking the
- 39:25Speaker 5: Patriots in that game.
- 39:26Speaker 2: There's funny things that happen in Denver. I don't want
- 39:30Speaker 2: more than anybody Fred because every game they play is
- 39:32Speaker 2: in Denver.
- 39:32Speaker 9: I get the bonix of it all though, I mean,
- 39:34Speaker 9: I get that what happened twenty years ago just had
- 39:37Speaker 9: nothing ever to do with anything.
- 39:39Speaker 2: Then I would say, fine, But I see the guy
- 39:42Speaker 2: consistently plays play mid mid football for three quarters and
- 39:46Speaker 2: then all of a sudden he makes plays when he
- 39:48Speaker 2: has to, so that defense is going to keep them
- 39:51Speaker 2: in the game. And if he gets hot in the
- 39:52Speaker 2: fourth quarter and you can lose and in that in
- 39:56Speaker 2: that place in a four and seven, how many teams
- 40:00Speaker 2: is bill to do any that bad against the elevation
- 40:04Speaker 2: and the win?
- 40:05Speaker 5: Like, what is the two thousand and five playoff game
- 40:08Speaker 5: have anything to do with what's going to happen in
- 40:10Speaker 5: genuous to play?
- 40:12Speaker 2: If you want to say that, what does any game
- 40:13Speaker 2: have to do with the game that hasn't been played?
- 40:16Speaker 2: We can only go on history, But you're going back
- 40:18Speaker 2: twenty years, Like I'm not going back twenty years. I'm
- 40:21Speaker 2: going I'm going the whole entirety of the decade. That's
- 40:25Speaker 2: a decade, the whole entirety of honesty, they're five, four
- 40:28Speaker 2: and seven with the best quarterback who ever lived. They're
- 40:31Speaker 2: four and seven in that bill.
- 40:32Speaker 4: It's a tough play.
- 40:33Speaker 3: That's why the league lets them play there all the time, right,
- 40:35Speaker 3: they like it, even.
- 40:36Speaker 2: For everybody was trying to work a joke in there
- 40:38Speaker 2: for but you do took it home, thank you.
- 40:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll take the Patriots, but better coach Indy.
- 40:44Speaker 2: I think India. I would. I would really like that matchup.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I wouldn't mind playing Indian.
- 40:48Speaker 9: They say, like, oh, I think the Patriots like I
- 40:50Speaker 9: just think the historic context of it, the season that
- 40:53Speaker 9: they've had. You know, let's see what Daniel Jones has
- 40:55Speaker 9: in a playoff game. The Patriots run defense versus Jonathan
- 40:58Speaker 9: Taylor A lot to like that.
- 41:00Speaker 5: I'd rather play them in Indy butt drinking A don't.
- 41:02Speaker 2: Know what's the weak wouldn't have any problem playing Indie Indian.
- 41:05Speaker 2: What's the weakest team that could make the playoffs right now?
- 41:09Speaker 3: Jackson Jacksonville, Houston that could Yeah, I mean probably Jacksonville.
- 41:14Speaker 2: You can make you can make an argument for the
- 41:16Speaker 2: Chargers too, because of the state that they're in. Yeah,
- 41:19Speaker 2: I happen to think the Chargers are not going to
- 41:21Speaker 2: make you know what, I'm going to change my pick Pittsburgh.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Pittsburgh is the least talented worst team that could make
- 41:27Speaker 2: the playoff with Rogers he broke his break.
- 41:30Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 41:31Speaker 2: I mean he was he broke his left I agree
- 41:33Speaker 2: with Evan that could help him. I think I think
- 41:37Speaker 2: he's just sitting duck back Mason.
- 41:40Speaker 5: Yeah, still terrified the pressure.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Dave says about the spitting, it's not about the disgusting factor.
- 41:48Speaker 3: It's about the immense disrespect.
- 41:51Speaker 2: No, that's why respect. That's why Jalen Ramsey wanted to
- 41:54Speaker 2: fight him. But I'm talking about it's it is discussing
- 41:57Speaker 2: like it's it's disgusting.
- 41:58Speaker 4: Yeah, you might as well just whip it out and
- 42:00Speaker 4: urinate on the guy.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Yeah, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 42:03Speaker 3: I'm serious, Like it's just your bodily flute curl that
- 42:08Speaker 3: another player.
- 42:09Speaker 2: It is I think discussed. I think you should be suspended,
- 42:11Speaker 2: and I would be surprised if they overturn it.
- 42:13Speaker 5: They're not going to overturn it. And you don't want
- 42:15Speaker 5: kids doing it precedent, you.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Don't want anyone doing it. I don't want adults doing.
- 42:19Speaker 7: It, right.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I didn't even like it when my hockey coach was
- 42:21Speaker 2: spitting dip out and back of me on the bench
- 42:23Speaker 2: like he always is discussed, always had a lipper in
- 42:25Speaker 2: and it was out. You know, he's just the winter
- 42:27Speaker 2: green smell. He would stit on the on the ground
- 42:29Speaker 2: or sit on the ground. Oh oh yeah, no, it's nasty.
- 42:32Speaker 2: You get yourself a copy of you know what it
- 42:34Speaker 2: was actually And.
- 42:34Speaker 9: I feel bad calling him out, But little Bruins trivia.
- 42:37Speaker 9: Remember Jim Stewart, Jim Stewart goalie No went to holy Cross.
- 42:43Speaker 9: He played one game and he got slacked and he
- 42:45Speaker 9: never he never played again. Like what year, like nineteen
- 42:50Speaker 9: eighty eighty eight two somewhere in there.
- 42:53Speaker 2: That's in my wheelhouse. I'm surprised. I don't. I'll send
- 42:55Speaker 2: you never heard of it, all right, I'll take your
- 42:58Speaker 2: word for it.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Eight hundred eighty five to five PATS five hundred is
- 43:02Speaker 3: the hotline podcast at Patriots dot com is the email address.
- 43:06Speaker 4: I know people are.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Biting, shopping a champ bit champing at the at the bite.
- 43:12Speaker 3: I don't know anyway. They want to talk, so let's
- 43:15Speaker 3: get the listeners involved. We'll start with, well, he's been
- 43:18Speaker 3: holding on the longest Christian in LA.
- 43:21Speaker 4: What's up Christian talking about you?
- 43:24Speaker 13: Here?
- 43:24Speaker 7: You guys?
- 43:24Speaker 2: Okay, what's going on over there for you guys?
- 43:27Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 43:27Speaker 13: Here we will.
- 43:30Speaker 14: Yeah, I'm in the airport.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Lax Oh, changed in my regular Are you on your
- 43:34Speaker 2: way to belize?
- 43:37Speaker 15: I'm actually headed east to you guys.
- 43:38Speaker 14: Can you hear me?
- 43:39Speaker 6: Good?
- 43:39Speaker 4: Yeah, we can hear you.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Keep talking, but yeah, yeah.
- 43:42Speaker 15: I'm headed east to you guys. I'll be on the
- 43:44Speaker 15: East coast this week end.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Oh where about?
- 43:46Speaker 15: But but not not but not Boston with Beverly mass too,
- 43:51Speaker 15: who I usually travel with. Anyway, it seems like providence
- 43:55Speaker 15: is on our side again this year because we missed
- 43:58Speaker 15: Mike Evans with Tampa. We're gonna miss Jamar Chase. I
- 44:02Speaker 15: don't doubt if either Lamar Jackson is gone or Josh
- 44:07Speaker 15: Allen sprang to the ankle. I just feel like this
- 44:10Speaker 15: is out a year. We're on our way, guys. I'm
- 44:12Speaker 15: not having Milton woms. It's really going to prove. Is
- 44:15Speaker 15: it our run scheme or is it our run defenders
- 44:18Speaker 15: that's got us so good in the run?
- 44:20Speaker 1: What do you guys think?
- 44:21Speaker 15: Is it a combination of the scheme and the players
- 44:23Speaker 15: or is it mainly win or the other. I'll take
- 44:25Speaker 15: it off the air.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Okay, So he's asking why is our run defense so good?
- 44:29Speaker 3: Is it just the players or the positions? They're being
- 44:32Speaker 3: put in.
- 44:32Speaker 2: I think it's both. I don't know, your run defense
- 44:34Speaker 2: is this good? It's hard to point it just well,
- 44:36Speaker 2: it's just the scheme.
- 44:36Speaker 4: I yeah, it's effort. You gotta be willing to get
- 44:39Speaker 4: in there.
- 44:40Speaker 2: They picked players who, you know, Evan had a good well.
- 44:42Speaker 9: I think it's a tweet you tweeted about their mistackle
- 44:44Speaker 9: rate of you know, even when they're I mean, they've
- 44:46Speaker 9: gotten a lot better at it, but they just fly
- 44:48Speaker 9: to the ball.
- 44:49Speaker 2: They fly to the ball. It's a totally different style
- 44:50Speaker 2: of defense than what we're used to watching. And everybody's
- 44:53Speaker 2: bought in. Everybody plays with that uptown line.
- 44:56Speaker 4: And it's not just the guys up front. Gonzo's making
- 44:58Speaker 4: run stops.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Arcus Jones has got his nose dirty on several plays,
- 45:03Speaker 3: you know, so everybody's can it's a.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Whole last couple of weeks, it's been a little nine shots,
- 45:08Speaker 2: five goals. That's not good, okay, one period five goals,
- 45:13Speaker 2: a little a.
- 45:14Speaker 5: Little bit more leaky than it had been to start
- 45:17Speaker 5: the year. The last two year. Now, now Jets have
- 45:20Speaker 5: a good running game. They have a good mobile quarterback
- 45:22Speaker 5: or a quarterback that's mobile. I shouldn't say he's good
- 45:24Speaker 5: he's a good runner.
- 45:25Speaker 2: No, he's a good Yeah he is so and so
- 45:27Speaker 2: I get that.
- 45:28Speaker 5: But you know, last couple of weeks, it's been uh
- 45:31Speaker 5: and you know, Tucker game of his life against Buffalo,
- 45:34Speaker 5: So maybe he's just good. I don't know, but it's
- 45:37Speaker 5: been a little bit leaky.
- 45:38Speaker 7: No.
- 45:38Speaker 2: I agree, there's been signs of some cracks and they
- 45:42Speaker 2: weren't disasters, but they were a little bit more average
- 45:45Speaker 2: the last couple of weeks. Yeah.
- 45:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 45:48Speaker 2: Do you think it has anything to do with how
- 45:49Speaker 2: the games are kind of unfolded at all? Well, I
- 45:54Speaker 2: thought it was weird that they didn't run more. I
- 45:56Speaker 2: thought I thought Breese Hall looked like he had some
- 46:00Speaker 2: chances to get things going and they kind of got
- 46:02Speaker 2: away from him. One of those three and outs in
- 46:04Speaker 2: the in the end of the first half was three
- 46:05Speaker 2: straight passes, which I mean, when you have you know,
- 46:10Speaker 2: a d Mitchell is the intended target, you might as
- 46:12Speaker 2: well just say we're gonna just punt it too now.
- 46:14Speaker 5: So I was thinking about that because the Jets sound
- 46:18Speaker 5: like they're gonna bench justin fields they have for Tyrod
- 46:21Speaker 5: Taylor and if Adie Mitchell catches the football, like even
- 46:25Speaker 5: two out of the three are you still benching justin fields?
- 46:29Speaker 5: Because I and look, I don't watch the Jets every
- 46:32Speaker 5: single week. I know it hasn't been good for them
- 46:34Speaker 5: offensively or for fields, but I thought he puts some
- 46:38Speaker 5: throws into some competitive places.
- 46:40Speaker 2: I didn't think he played a bad game, agree with you.
- 46:42Speaker 5: And then to make that decision to bench him based
- 46:46Speaker 5: off now, like based off that game and not for
- 46:48Speaker 5: like a rookie that like maybe has something for Tyrod
- 46:52Speaker 5: Taylor like and that's the part that makes no sense,
- 46:55Speaker 5: and bench ad Mitchell like like Adie Mitchell was behind
- 46:58Speaker 5: the defense twice and dropped the ball.
- 47:00Speaker 2: And how about the crossing route that went right through
- 47:03Speaker 2: his hands?
- 47:03Speaker 5: Yeah right, I mean like he's behind Gonzo for a
- 47:06Speaker 5: potential touchdown. The ball is Yeah, it's like maybe a
- 47:09Speaker 5: little bit like of an adjustment, But you know, Kaishan
- 47:11Speaker 5: Boody is making that catch ten out of a time
- 47:13Speaker 5: time this.
- 47:14Speaker 2: I don't think there's very many receivers in football that
- 47:16Speaker 2: don't make that touch other than it was a fine ball.
- 47:22Speaker 2: He's waiting on the line.
- 47:24Speaker 5: That was the game that decided that put put it
- 47:26Speaker 5: over the top.
- 47:27Speaker 2: We have but again, Like, and I know they wanted
- 47:30Speaker 2: to play Taylor, and my guess is Taylor wasn't quite
- 47:32Speaker 2: healthy enough to play. But if you had, Like I'm
- 47:37Speaker 2: just looking on ESPN, they got some stuff with Shedea Sanders,
- 47:40Speaker 2: Like if you let Shedea Sanders and you're like, he's
- 47:42Speaker 2: a third string quarterback, you know what, let's just go,
- 47:45Speaker 2: let's see maybe there's something there. We'll go to him.
- 47:47Speaker 2: Taylor was a career backup.
- 47:49Speaker 7: He is what he is.
- 47:50Speaker 2: He's fine, like he's but you're gonna make Why wouldn't
- 47:55Speaker 2: you just play Justin Fields the last six weeks? Maybe
- 47:58Speaker 2: he gets hot and you might already said I'm moving
- 48:03Speaker 2: on from Justin Fields no matter what. I don't care
- 48:05Speaker 2: how well he plays, you might be able to do
- 48:06Speaker 2: something with him, Like, I don't know, Like it just
- 48:11Speaker 2: makes no sense to bench a quarterback for Tyrod Taylor, Right,
- 48:15Speaker 2: what are you gonna learn when you have two wins?
- 48:18Speaker 2: Makes no sense. It's typical Jets, Jets jetting.
- 48:21Speaker 4: Eldred, you want to talk about Adie Mitchell? What's up? Eldred?
- 48:26Speaker 2: Oh boy?
- 48:26Speaker 4: Hey all right?
- 48:29Speaker 6: Hey, hell yeah, I'm still taking you still take them?
- 48:33Speaker 4: You don't care?
- 48:33Speaker 6: Attitude?
- 48:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, all drops, Mitchell, you'll take him. That's what
- 48:41Speaker 4: it was.
- 48:42Speaker 2: It was pretty much all drops.
- 48:44Speaker 6: I know he dropped, but like I said, I think
- 48:46Speaker 6: the attitude. I think he's still a man. Because he
- 48:48Speaker 6: got traded, I don't think anything to say about it.
- 48:51Speaker 6: But he did burn our all star cornerback three times
- 48:55Speaker 6: he got open.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Would Yeah that's true.
- 48:58Speaker 6: We got open more than one.
- 49:00Speaker 4: But that's only half the battle.
- 49:01Speaker 6: And I would take him, but I can't tell you
- 49:04Speaker 6: if we had him and May would throw to him,
- 49:06Speaker 6: he wouldn't drop him. Okay, I still take him. But
- 49:08Speaker 6: my question is this this what scares me. I'm with you, havn't.
- 49:13Speaker 6: I don't want to see the Chiefs or Baltimore in
- 49:16Speaker 6: the playoffs, not one of them. But my question is
- 49:19Speaker 6: if they want coverage with average teams, what they're gonna
- 49:23Speaker 6: do against a good team? And I take it off
- 49:25Speaker 6: the air.
- 49:27Speaker 5: Yeah, that was one of my biggest takeaways from this game.
- 49:30Speaker 5: Like you don't watch the film through the prism of
- 49:33Speaker 5: was it good enough to beat Justin Fields and the Jets.
- 49:35Speaker 5: He isn't good enough, gonna be good enough down the line.
- 49:38Speaker 5: And I thought Drake May played one of his best
- 49:41Speaker 5: games in a while. I think really like I thought
- 49:44Speaker 5: he made one bad throw the entire night to the
- 49:46Speaker 5: deep ball to Kyle Williams was underthrown, but I thought
- 49:49Speaker 5: that was really his only true negative play the entire night.
- 49:53Speaker 5: But defensively, they they have some issues. You know, they
- 49:57Speaker 5: have some coverage issues that can iinued to creep up
- 50:00Speaker 5: every single week, And I think that the what you
- 50:03Speaker 5: worry about is when you get into the playoffs and
- 50:06Speaker 5: you know you're facing a great quarterback, will that quarterback
- 50:10Speaker 5: be consistent to just kind of nickel and dime down
- 50:13Speaker 5: the field on them, because I do think that those
- 50:16Speaker 5: soft zones are playing on early down some of the
- 50:18Speaker 5: man coverage stuff. You might not they might not be
- 50:21Speaker 5: hitting the explosives down the field like they were at
- 50:23Speaker 5: the beginning of the year, but there's a lot of
- 50:25Speaker 5: stuff underneath that's open that if you just have a
- 50:28Speaker 5: quarterback that's willing to play on schedule and just kind
- 50:32Speaker 5: of maticulate the ball and march the ball and can
- 50:35Speaker 5: do that consistently, then they don't give a lot of
- 50:39Speaker 5: resistance at times on first and second down. So I'm
- 50:42Speaker 5: with Eldred. I think that there are some cracks in
- 50:45Speaker 5: that foundation.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Mike and I talked in the postgame show a
- 50:47Speaker 2: little bit, and you know, we kind of remember, we
- 50:51Speaker 2: kind of disagreed a little because we talked about the
- 50:53Speaker 2: opening drive again, which has been an ongoing theme. But then,
- 50:57Speaker 2: you know, Mike was like, and then you know, they
- 50:58Speaker 2: just you know, they settled down and shut it down.
- 51:00Speaker 2: And I was like, I don't think they shut it
- 51:03Speaker 2: down in this game as much as you remember. And
- 51:06Speaker 2: they were three straight three and outs. We talked about this.
- 51:09Speaker 2: One of those three and outs included some of these
- 51:12Speaker 2: drops from ad Mitchell. But the second half, the Jets
- 51:16Speaker 2: really moved the ball every time they had it. The
- 51:18Speaker 2: only time they didn't move the ball in the second
- 51:20Speaker 2: half was when they fumbled on the first play, and
- 51:22Speaker 2: that that was just a fumbled snap. It wasn't anything
- 51:24Speaker 2: the Patriots did. They moved the ball reasonably well, they
- 51:29Speaker 2: scored a touchdown, they got down in scoring position and
- 51:32Speaker 2: turned it over on downs inside the ten. I think
- 51:35Speaker 2: another time, like it wasn't great defense, you know, considering
- 51:41Speaker 2: the opponent. Now you look at the numbers and it's like, whatever,
- 51:45Speaker 2: it was two and forty five yards of offense, that's
- 51:48Speaker 2: that's not good. But eight for fourteen on third down
- 51:52Speaker 2: for a team that can't move the ball, they haven't
- 51:54Speaker 2: moved it against anybody. I think the biggest concern that
- 51:57Speaker 2: you have for Pittsburgh opening Day.
- 51:59Speaker 5: So the Jets didn't win a lot of three by
- 52:01Speaker 5: one in this game, and the Patriots kept Gonzo on
- 52:06Speaker 5: the boundary in three by one. So what the Jets
- 52:09Speaker 5: were doing was they were just putting a tight end
- 52:11Speaker 5: outside on Gonzo. So Gonzo is covering a tight end
- 52:14Speaker 5: and then inside the slot. Their number three receiver was
- 52:18Speaker 5: Mechi most of the time had one of the safeties
- 52:20Speaker 5: either Hawkins or Woodson on him and beat them two
- 52:23Speaker 5: or three times, uh one for a touchdown one eighteen
- 52:28Speaker 5: yarder crossing route over the middle of the field. Similar
- 52:32Speaker 5: thing kind of happened with with the you know the
- 52:35Speaker 5: motion that that led to one of those Mitchell drops
- 52:38Speaker 5: as well. So I just when you play man coverage,
- 52:41Speaker 5: like the best man coverage, teams dictate matchups, like they say,
- 52:44Speaker 5: they shadow receivers and they're not going to allow safeties
- 52:48Speaker 5: to get on wide receivers. You know they're gonna say, well,
- 52:50Speaker 5: if your tight ends flexed out and he's the one
- 52:53Speaker 5: guy over there, then We're just gonna put Gonzo inside
- 52:56Speaker 5: the slot over the three receiver side, and we're gonna
- 52:58Speaker 5: put the safety over the tight end. And so just
- 53:01Speaker 5: trying to be better about dictating those types of matchups
- 53:05Speaker 5: because you don't want to get stuck in a position
- 53:07Speaker 5: where Jalen Hawkins is trying to run across the field
- 53:10Speaker 5: with Yoshivas this weekend in Cincinnati and Gonzo's got Drew sample,
- 53:15Speaker 5: you know, like it just that doesn't make logical sense.
- 53:20Speaker 4: Let's see Mitch is in Texas.
- 53:22Speaker 10: Hey, Mitchyay, it's a long time listener. Thanks for taking
- 53:27Speaker 10: my call. So my question is really in statement, is
- 53:29Speaker 10: really on the run game. I know there's been feels
- 53:32Speaker 10: like the past few weeks kind of a pessimism or
- 53:35Speaker 10: negativity around the success of the run games. And I
- 53:38Speaker 10: feel like, especially the past few weeks of really liked
- 53:42Speaker 10: the balance when you look at the attempts per game
- 53:45Speaker 10: or third in the league in attempts per game, and
- 53:48Speaker 10: although we're middle of the pack and just you know,
- 53:50Speaker 10: yards per carry, a lot of the team's Eagles chiefs
- 53:54Speaker 10: rams are all right with us. Their consistency and ability
- 53:58Speaker 10: to run. I feel like inside the twenty in the
- 54:00Speaker 10: red zone has been really, really good, So just curious
- 54:03Speaker 10: to hear your thoughts and the success there, and I'll
- 54:05Speaker 10: take my call off here.
- 54:08Speaker 5: Slowly improving up a lot of the you know, DVOA, EPA,
- 54:14Speaker 5: all that stuff is there. They were thirty second in
- 54:17Speaker 5: the league and run in the run game for a
- 54:18Speaker 5: lot of the season, and now they're like twenty six
- 54:22Speaker 5: instead of thirty second, So it's getting somewhat better. And
- 54:25Speaker 5: I think, you know, Trevon Henderson's breakouts obviously a huge
- 54:28Speaker 5: part of that. That's really helped me.
- 54:30Speaker 2: How much do you point to like four plays you
- 54:33Speaker 2: know that have helped me move along? It's just, yeah,
- 54:35Speaker 2: I mean the numbers, like I'm not surprised to see
- 54:40Speaker 2: that the attempts is that what he could? Yeah, they've
- 54:43Speaker 2: stuck with it, Like Josh has done a really good
- 54:45Speaker 2: job of sticking with the run all year despite the
- 54:47Speaker 2: fact that they haven't had a lot of success, because
- 54:49Speaker 2: I do think there's importance to that. Evan points this
- 54:51Speaker 2: out every week on certain plays that get dialed up
- 54:55Speaker 2: and the just the impact that it doesn't you don't
- 54:58Speaker 2: have to run effectively to run play action in different
- 55:01Speaker 2: kinds of actions and stuff. Like that. I think Henderson
- 55:05Speaker 2: has given them a little bit of juice. But really,
- 55:10Speaker 2: you know, the two long runs aside in Tampa, the
- 55:13Speaker 2: production hasn't really been there. I don't care. I think
- 55:16Speaker 2: this value in the attempts and I think that's what
- 55:19Speaker 2: Josh has been doing and I think he'll continue to
- 55:21Speaker 2: do that. I think he believes in it.
- 55:22Speaker 5: Yeah, it's their balance is important, and I think especially
- 55:27Speaker 5: out of twelve personnel, when they put both tight ends
- 55:30Speaker 5: on the field. When they can be balanced out of twelve,
- 55:33Speaker 5: then in the passing game, you can come out and
- 55:35Speaker 5: you can force defenses to play nickel or base against twelve,
- 55:38Speaker 5: and then that's when you can pass the ball out
- 55:40Speaker 5: of those groupings and get those matchups. So they will
- 55:43Speaker 5: come out in twelve, they'll run the ball, then they'll
- 55:45Speaker 5: show the same run action and they'll hit Hunter Henry
- 55:48Speaker 5: on a crossing route for like twenty yards in the
- 55:50Speaker 5: game on Thursday night. You know, those types of things
- 55:52Speaker 5: all marry up and set each other up off of
- 55:54Speaker 5: each other. If you just start abandoning the run game
- 55:57Speaker 5: because it's not productive in air quotes and all that
- 56:00Speaker 5: kind of run action stuff goes out the window.
- 56:02Speaker 9: Do you connect any of that to the elevation of
- 56:05Speaker 9: Dupree or is that as simple as somebody else was
- 56:07Speaker 9: going to sign him, just like was rumored with Swinston,
- 56:10Speaker 9: Like is there any you know, being concussed that I read,
- 56:13Speaker 9: but I don't know that.
- 56:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I do wonder. I kind of thought that Dupree
- 56:17Speaker 5: had a chance to be elevated last week.
- 56:19Speaker 2: As a blocking tight end, and Mike and I talked
- 56:21Speaker 2: about it in the pregame.
- 56:22Speaker 5: I love Hunter Henry, He's not a blocker. Every time
- 56:25Speaker 5: they ask him to max protect, he usually gives up pressure.
- 56:29Speaker 5: Now you know, you know the tight end is going
- 56:32Speaker 5: to lose to an edge rusher, so you're just kind
- 56:34Speaker 5: of hoping that he dies slowly, like you know, like
- 56:36Speaker 5: that that's the ideal thing. But I gave up a
- 56:38Speaker 5: sack again last week in pass protection, so it can
- 56:41Speaker 5: dupre who is a block He's like a two hundred
- 56:43Speaker 5: and sixty pound tight end.
- 56:44Speaker 2: Like that's what did you see from Ben Brown as
- 56:47Speaker 2: the extra you know blocker.
- 56:48Speaker 5: He hit a really good down block on Henderson's second touchdown. Uh,
- 56:53Speaker 5: And I think that that's sort of what they're looking
- 56:54Speaker 5: for there is can you know you make like a
- 56:57Speaker 5: four surface side from centered over to the tight end,
- 57:01Speaker 5: and can you really get that side to cave in
- 57:04Speaker 5: the line of scrimmage, you know, down blocking so that
- 57:07Speaker 5: you can pull from the backside like they did on
- 57:09Speaker 5: that touchdown. That's exactly why you put the sixth offensive
- 57:13Speaker 5: linemen on the field, is the draw it up like
- 57:15Speaker 5: that and then on occasion, which they did in this
- 57:17Speaker 5: game once or twice, they threw it out of six
- 57:20Speaker 5: to zero line. So now you have six blockers, you know,
- 57:23Speaker 5: that are all offensive linemen that can help block and
- 57:27Speaker 5: load up those max protect play action and take shots
- 57:29Speaker 5: down the field.
- 57:30Speaker 2: The reason I asked is just because I wondered if
- 57:32Speaker 2: that had something you know, they felt like, well, we
- 57:35Speaker 2: don't need to elevate the guy because well, you know,
- 57:37Speaker 2: we're gonna use Ben Brown in this role. And maybe
- 57:40Speaker 2: they didn't think, you know, the try just looked at
- 57:42Speaker 2: yet twelve plays he played. You know, maybe they didn't
- 57:45Speaker 2: feel like he was great in that role and they
- 57:47Speaker 2: just let's just get an actual tight end to do that.
- 57:50Speaker 2: I don't I don't know. I also think that there's
- 57:52Speaker 2: a chance that Hooper's back right, but you know, we
- 57:55Speaker 2: won't know that for sure either.
- 57:56Speaker 5: So yeah, all these things are you know, very trendy
- 58:01Speaker 5: in vogue around the NFL right now. You know, throwing
- 58:04Speaker 5: out of heavy personnel, six offensive linemen, dropping back from
- 58:09Speaker 5: under center, a quick game from under center, and these
- 58:12Speaker 5: are all things that the Patriots are doing as well
- 58:15Speaker 5: at a really high level and having a ton of
- 58:17Speaker 5: success with it.
- 58:19Speaker 3: Did Bart Scott say it's disrespectful that Drake May is
- 58:22Speaker 3: in the MVP conversation?
- 58:23Speaker 5: Did and he said it was disrespectful to Stafford and
- 58:25Speaker 5: Sam Darnold.
- 58:26Speaker 2: I believe he did say that.
- 58:27Speaker 3: He said it's Chris and Santa Fe says, it's like
- 58:31Speaker 3: all of a sudden, people don't remember how bad we
- 58:33Speaker 3: were last year. The mental gymnastics from Patriots haters reminds
- 58:36Speaker 3: me of the Dynasty years.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Disrespect that's disrespectful to Drake May. Like, I don't think
- 58:43Speaker 2: that's like Drake May's played great. I don't know why
- 58:47Speaker 2: that bothers Bart. But I haven't really heard like the
- 58:50Speaker 2: national thing the Patriots of the national darling right now,
- 58:52Speaker 2: Like I haven't heard any of that. Like the ESPN
- 58:55Speaker 2: is in love with the Patriots right now.
- 58:57Speaker 5: Good old Bart Scott, that's what he's quarterback but Scott
- 59:01Speaker 5: is tapped.
- 59:01Speaker 2: I mean, let's call it. I mean, he's out of
- 59:03Speaker 2: his mind. I loved him in the O seven Ravens game,
- 59:06Speaker 2: just like firing the flag into the stab.
- 59:08Speaker 3: That uh Sam And Saint catharinees Evan, the self proclaimed
- 59:14Speaker 3: king of the expected stats based on what should happen
- 59:17Speaker 3: given historical averages in situations, is now pooh pooing Paul
- 59:22Speaker 3: over him expecting the Patriots to struggle in Denver based
- 59:25Speaker 3: on historical outcomes for that situation.
- 59:27Speaker 2: Yet he uses the same logic for wanting to play
- 59:30Speaker 2: the Colts.
- 59:33Speaker 5: How did I use the same logic for wanting to
- 59:34Speaker 5: play the Colts.
- 59:35Speaker 2: That they have good fortune against the Colts.
- 59:37Speaker 5: No, it's nothing to do with that. I just like
- 59:39Speaker 5: Drake May in a dome. Like I don't mean to
- 59:43Speaker 5: make this about a weather thing, but like, I'll take
- 59:46Speaker 5: my chances of Drake May against Daniel Jones in a
- 59:48Speaker 5: playoff game, especially if you're gonna put him inside.
- 59:50Speaker 2: But they don't listen, the Cults are a good team. Well,
- 59:53Speaker 2: I mean I see, well, I see they're okay.
- 59:57Speaker 9: Patriots struggles at Indy too, and you know, at various
- 1:00:00Speaker 9: I'm sure I think I probably with Paul on this
- 1:00:02Speaker 9: of like, Denver is more the area.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: I think that Colts team is more of the team, Yeah,
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Peyton Manning and I mean, of course it's tough to
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: play inside, and it's loud, and they got good fans
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: and all that, but still at the end of the day,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: it's all I mean. I saw brock Osweiler beat the
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Patriots in Denver. I mean, he's one of the worst
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: quarterbacks we've seen in the last twenty years, fifteen years.
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: I don't like them, Jeff and Canada.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: Sorry, Fred, I will never root for Mahomes first seed whatever.
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: I know the logic behind what you're saying, but the
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: heart wants what it wants. The moment I turned on
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: that game, all I could do was enjoy the terrible performance,
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: like the pathetic passed through that was a pick six
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: that was called back on a weak holding call twenty
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: yards from the play.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Listen, I get that will never get old for the
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: from Patriots fans. So the Chiefs don't get the calls,
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: get all the calls that will never get old. They do.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: The Chiefs punting team got called for pushing the back.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: The hunting team is the last time you saw that.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: There's two rules in the NFL.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Nowadays, Denver gets more home games and the Chiefs get
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: more calls.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Don't forget Buffalo. What is Buffalo? They get all the
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: calls too. You got to do that. You got to
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: keep up with you behind on that one, tirads.
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: Buffalo is a home road problem.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: Though Buffalo has problems period. They've been inconsistent all year.
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: Yeah, they're a weird team.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: They are. And what I would worry about with Buffalo again,
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: I don't want to use the word afraid because I
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: know that Parish people.
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: Apparently.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: What worries me about Buffalo is what Mike talked about, Like,
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: do they get to the point in the season where
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: they see the finish line, they see what needs to
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: be done and they lock it in and you know,
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: they take care of business. Now that might look silly
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: come Thursday night. They might go to Houston. The Texans
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: defense is excellent. I don't know if they can score
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: with Buffalo, but they might not have to. If it's
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: twenty seventeen kind of a game, you know, and you
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: can look at Buffalo and say, Okay, that puts some
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: two games behind. They're probably not going to make up
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: two games.
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: I think the thing that worries you when you watch
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: Buffalo is that all the trick shots that Alan has
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: had over the last couple of years where it works. Yeah,
- 1:02:08Speaker 5: a lot of those kind of playground plays are starting
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: to not work all of a sudden, and it's just
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: probably anecdotal and just a this year type of thing.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: But like the shovel pass that he made last week, horrific,
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: Like that would have been like a first down. I
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: would have been like a twenty yard play somehow that
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: he pulled out of his butt. And now it's a
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: pick like you know and knows, but.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: He pulled a touchdown out of his butt in a
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: similar way the one to Shavers the deep ball where
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: he's like running around, Yeah, mostly throwing across the field,
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: like yeah, I giveth it, taketh that pick, that pick
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: in the end zone. You can't say enough bad things
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: about that. Yeah, he was like a ten yard chess
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: pass how I saw it. Uh, It's kind of like
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: the Chiefs of one score games too, where last year
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: ten and all last year or in five this year.
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: That's why I still would respect them, Like they're playing
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: good teams and they're losing these one score games, so
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: you're gonna feel like, obviously, at the end of the game,
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: if you've won, you feel fine, But like if you
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: were a Denver fan and that was the way the
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: game was unfold on the other day, you think that
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: Denver Denver was like, we got this when the other team,
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: when Kansas City's got the role in a tie game
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: with four minutes left, you like, we got this.
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: Said that the Chiefs are first half team, so he
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: felt pretty good about its John Payton at halftime shots. Wow, yeah,
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: but I hear what you're saying.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Then the Chiefs actually all played him in the second half.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: Yeah, Franklin Baltimore feel like I'm one of the opposite
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: opinion of Evan when it comes to Denver. Yeah, sure,
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: bo Nicks's mid as hell, But that defense they have
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: marries a hillacious pass rush with a top five coverage
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: unit that makes it hell on any quarterback trying to function.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: We've already seen May's play falter a bit these past
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: two games against teams with a decent pass rush. Denver's,
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: in comparison, is a completely different animal. Honestly, they're the
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: only team I feel which poses a signal if it
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: could matchup problem against the Patriots offense.
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: Apparently a lot of things I said triggered people today
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: you're doing. I hear what you're saying about Denver's defense legitimate.
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: Their pass rush especially is extremely legitimate, probably one of
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: the best pass rushes in the last couple of years
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: based off of some of the metrics. I just I'm sorry,
- 1:04:21Speaker 5: I'm just a lot of what we're seeing I think
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: with a lot of these teams, and I guess you
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: could put the Patriots in there too. Is like the
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: I I was going to drive people nuts. The metrics
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: do not back up the record like these A lot
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: of these teams like Baltimore, Kansas City that actually have
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: worse records, you know, they feel like, over the long run,
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: are eventually going to be better than a lot of
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: these teams like the Patriots, Broncos, Colts. Now, what I
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: like about the Patriots is I trust their coach and
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: their quarterback more than I trust these other teams. You know,
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: I don't trust Daniel Jones and Shane Steichen in a
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: playoff game, not yet. And I know that May hasn't
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: done it, but Rabel has, and I trust their talent.
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: I trust May's talent. I don't trust bo Nicks in
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: a playoff game. And maybe he proves me wrong, and
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: maybe he has these great fourth quarters or these great
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: drives in the fourth quarter, or whatever you want to
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: call it. But I take my chances. I have the
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: better quarterback, and I think i'd have the better head coach.
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: All right, listen, holidays are coming.

- 1:08:10Speaker 7: a civic duty? So if you got something.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: Okay with Milton Williams going and I are, I'm just
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: curious how you feel about the depth behind him and
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: just which guys are kind of expecting to step up.
- 1:08:26Speaker 11: All the same guys that I think have been playing.
- 1:08:28Speaker 11: Eric Gregory played in the game for the first time.
- 1:08:31Speaker 11: I thought he battled and is continuing to improve on
- 1:08:34Speaker 11: the practice squad or see me in the show team
- 1:08:36Speaker 11: stuff and practice, and.
- 1:08:38Speaker 7: You know, we'll hopefully get Josh back.
- 1:08:40Speaker 11: And I would say that, you know, Farms is doing
- 1:08:44Speaker 11: a great job as well on the show team and
- 1:08:47Speaker 11: was ready to go in there at any point. So
- 1:08:52Speaker 11: I think we're okay there as far as the depth,
- 1:08:54Speaker 11: and I don't just have to keep working, keep moving on, which.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: Is building this defense, you know, for the first tech put.
- 1:09:02Speaker 11: Is you know, we won't have Milt, you know, so
- 1:09:08Speaker 11: for the foreseeable future, he'll work hard to get back,
- 1:09:12Speaker 11: you know. So that's really where our focus is is
- 1:09:15Speaker 11: not so much as a reflection as it is just
- 1:09:18Speaker 11: focusing on how do we get the guys ready to
- 1:09:22Speaker 11: perform and continue to improve. The thing we're trying to
- 1:09:26Speaker 11: get everybody to understand is how much this is a
- 1:09:30Speaker 11: progress league and to be able to improve as the
- 1:09:33Speaker 11: season goes on. And so we'll have to do that
- 1:09:37Speaker 11: without Milt, who's one of our contributors, and you know,
- 1:09:41Speaker 11: it's a big part of what we've done.
- 1:09:42Speaker 7: But we'll have to do it without a Mare for
- 1:09:45Speaker 7: a few weeks. I know, the inevitable photomical effect that
- 1:09:48Speaker 7: might occur.
- 1:09:49Speaker 11: Does this maybe change your thinking when it comes to
- 1:09:51Speaker 11: using a guy like Tom gun special chief as well
- 1:09:53Speaker 11: about us?
- 1:09:55Speaker 7: One of those are things we have to consider. But
- 1:09:57Speaker 7: it's also.
- 1:10:01Speaker 11: You know, we just we have to do everything that
- 1:10:03Speaker 11: we can do to try to put the pieces together
- 1:10:05Speaker 11: to help us win. And I know that, you know,
- 1:10:10Speaker 11: we just have to be able to play the game
- 1:10:12Speaker 11: and put the guys where we expect them to and
- 1:10:16Speaker 11: any sort of injury can occur on any play at
- 1:10:19Speaker 11: any point in time in football, so.
- 1:10:23Speaker 7: Every play is critical.
- 1:10:25Speaker 11: And more block kicks this past week and on and
- 1:10:28Speaker 11: on and on, so we have to, uh, you know,
- 1:10:32Speaker 11: make sure that the eleven guys out there are the
- 1:10:34Speaker 11: ones that give us the best chance and in those
- 1:10:37Speaker 11: critical situations and kicking field goals and extra points is
- 1:10:40Speaker 11: a critical situation.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: What have you seen from Briden Swinson on the practice squad?
- 1:10:45Speaker 11: Has worked hard, He's improved, and he's worked hard in
- 1:10:48Speaker 11: a weight room and those you know, changing his body
- 1:10:53Speaker 11: and getting stronger and learning special teams and.
- 1:10:59Speaker 7: Doing a good job up there give us a great look.
- 1:11:01Speaker 11: And those guys coaches have done a great job of
- 1:11:04Speaker 11: improving a lot of those guys and hopefully getting them
- 1:11:07Speaker 11: ready here for when they have to play.
- 1:11:11Speaker 13: On him.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Is this the time of year where you got to
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: protect your guys?
- 1:11:15Speaker 9: You want to keep working with him and spend time
- 1:11:17Speaker 9: with like him, you know, developing as other teams can
- 1:11:20Speaker 9: come on your practice well guys and.
- 1:11:22Speaker 7: Try to take them away. You know, there's some of that.
- 1:11:25Speaker 11: You know, there's some of that, And again it's also
- 1:11:28Speaker 11: about opportunity and when we feel like they're ready for
- 1:11:31Speaker 11: it and when they've earned it, and you know, in
- 1:11:33Speaker 11: that case, you know, I think Branden has so we'll
- 1:11:37Speaker 11: have to evaluate what he can do and how he
- 1:11:39Speaker 11: can help us and get him ready to go.
- 1:11:42Speaker 13: With m Andre and Kashawan, they who saw the practica
- 1:11:46Speaker 13: during the short week that they ultimately didn't play on Thursday.
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: Do you have any update on them as a concern
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: he is heading into the streame.
- 1:11:53Speaker 11: I would expect them to be out there Wednesday, and
- 1:11:56Speaker 11: then again we'll see monitor how that goes. You know,
- 1:12:02Speaker 11: to me, when you come back, it's just about you know,
- 1:12:06Speaker 11: the volume and handling what their their normal volume would
- 1:12:09Speaker 11: be and can they obviously you know, do their job
- 1:12:14Speaker 11: up to what we expect and what they expected to
- 1:12:16Speaker 11: be and being able to protect themselves out there, like
- 1:12:20Speaker 11: just a.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: Sort of a fall from the game.
- 1:12:24Speaker 8: I don't knowing you guys have moved on from it,
- 1:12:25Speaker 8: but you might see some mobile quarterbacks.
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: You are to see some mobile quarterbacks down the line here.
- 1:12:29Speaker 10: How helpful?
- 1:12:30Speaker 11: Maybe is it just to have that film now having
- 1:12:32Speaker 11: played fields.
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: And some of the design quarterback?
- 1:12:34Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it's always just to understand how fast
- 1:12:36Speaker 7: they are.
- 1:12:37Speaker 11: Recreate the speed of a player like that, that's hard,
- 1:12:40Speaker 11: whether that's the design plays or the quarterback play extensions
- 1:12:45Speaker 11: that that turned into Chunkyardede. So you know there's a
- 1:12:49Speaker 11: lot to that to the run game and where those
- 1:12:52Speaker 11: numbers get, you know, moved around in the mobile quarterback
- 1:12:56Speaker 11: and so you know we'll have to play the run
- 1:12:59Speaker 11: much better, you know.
- 1:13:00Speaker 7: Obviously moving forward. Brown's a great.
- 1:13:04Speaker 11: Bat, you know, makes a lot out of nothing sometimes
- 1:13:07Speaker 11: and the cracks and his burst and his contact balance,
- 1:13:10Speaker 11: so uh, he's been fun to watch.
- 1:13:12Speaker 7: So we'll have to do a great job this week.
- 1:13:15Speaker 11: But certainly being able to see some of those quarterback runs,
- 1:13:19Speaker 11: I understand how quickly you know, they can get on
- 1:13:23Speaker 11: the edge and you know there weren't you know, the
- 1:13:26Speaker 11: ones that are critical are the you know, down in
- 1:13:29Speaker 11: the goal line when they're you know, it's three yard.
- 1:13:32Speaker 7: Game is a touchdown, not a second and seven?
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: How have you seen Delpez grow in the system since
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: the spring? And also how has he maximized the opportunities
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: that's got any games?
- 1:13:41Speaker 11: And Dell continues to work hard and work on communication
- 1:13:44Speaker 11: and core special teams player for us and learning multiple
- 1:13:50Speaker 11: positions in the defense back end, working down as the dimes,
- 1:13:55Speaker 11: sometimes in sub and.
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: In two minutes.
- 1:13:59Speaker 11: And it's been good to see him take advantage of
- 1:14:01Speaker 11: the opportunities, showed up, made some plays and working hard
- 1:14:06Speaker 11: on all the little things that we give them each
- 1:14:08Speaker 11: and every week.
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: Another few days off like you guys did this weekend.
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: Would you rather both players and staff get wait for
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: the game completely or still kind.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: To be engaged.
- 1:14:21Speaker 11: Whatever gets us back to to neutral and be able to, uh,
- 1:14:26Speaker 11: you know, move forward and prepare and you know, stay
- 1:14:30Speaker 11: on our conditioning and you know, but you know, it's
- 1:14:34Speaker 11: a long stretch of games that we just had, and
- 1:14:36Speaker 11: you know, I think that the energy is great right
- 1:14:38Speaker 11: now where we're at, you know, coming back in here
- 1:14:40Speaker 11: on a Monday and meeting and getting all those things
- 1:14:43Speaker 11: reviewed and working out and so those would be good stuff.
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: We'd seemed to veryan previously, be like the extra tight
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: end and some back just been Brown got that opportunity.
- 1:14:52Speaker 7: What led to him getting those?
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: And what did you think was performance?
- 1:14:55Speaker 7: What led?
- 1:14:56Speaker 11: And same thing that leads to every coach's decision. It's
- 1:15:01Speaker 11: about the the trust that you have and the player
- 1:15:04Speaker 11: knows what to do. And for Darien's right there, ready
- 1:15:07Speaker 11: to go.
- 1:15:07Speaker 7: And what with Ben? Ben's done a little bit earlier
- 1:15:11Speaker 7: in the season, Carolina, I think maybe or he played guard.
- 1:15:17Speaker 7: They've both been repping it, you know, and just decided
- 1:15:21Speaker 7: to go with Ben, and you know, I know for
- 1:15:23Speaker 7: Darians ready to go as well. Earlier in the season
- 1:15:29Speaker 7: I had asked you.
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: And now great moments in.
- 1:15:35Speaker 7: History.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: If you say he's a friend of Eric, yes, isn't
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: that proper? Isn't a friend of Eric's redundant? Yes? If
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: he belongs to Eric, that's what the OV means. It's possessive.
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: So why do we get involve Eric's That's a good one,
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: like you don't know its friend Eric's friend would be proper.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: But if you say he's a friend of Eric, that's
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: also proper. Now, yes, but a lot of people people
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: would say he's a friend of erics right now, I don't.
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: I don't know that I'm right.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: I don't know that I'm right about that one. So
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: I'm not being all frank Eric right. That's how iired,
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: That's how I would write, ye grammar deep dive in yes,
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: ap Pilo English. I know it's very specific. I know
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: you just got on a blog and just wrote on
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: your own.
- 1:16:16Speaker 15: Some of us had to go to.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: College and learn how to do it.
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: Perfect elitism.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: Very good.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: But that's another great moment from.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered A five five
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: Pats five hundred is the hotline podcast at Patriots.
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: Dot Com is the email address.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: Urie in Brazil wants to know where else can I
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: listen to Paul Parolo talk. I know he's at Felger
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: and Maz once a week and I listen to them
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: every time he's on the show. Please let me know
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: where else I can listen to the big white Snark's
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: opinion in other places besides being called Sunshine dot com.
- 1:16:56Speaker 9: Yeah, catch him on a Peeping the Deuce. Well, any morning,
- 1:16:59Speaker 9: if you were local, any library, you can just you know,
- 1:17:03Speaker 9: you can book him to speak to you.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: Because he does the library toward that's funny. The library
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: season is coming up.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that and any of the awards, you know, youth
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: uh youth sports award banquets.
- 1:17:16Speaker 9: You know, people would enjoy just coming and hanging out
- 1:17:20Speaker 9: in our little bullpen when you know Paul comes in
- 1:17:22Speaker 9: and then holds court and you should put a.
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: Camera in there, I know, like a little one of those.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: You know, that's where the real opinions come out. I
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: wouldn't say this on air, but you know those not
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: just poems and all. Well that's what Fred, and Fred
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: says it on air, right, That's that's that's the difference.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: Can't be trusted like Fred, that was in the corn
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: of silence in the press box. We're not supposed to
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: bring that on the air. Take that out and gets
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: on few Fred on filtered and he just let it few.
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: There you go, Jeremiah.
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: I understand everyone's concerned about playing in Denver, and I
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: think they are extremely valid. But I have to agree
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: with Evan who I'd rather see in the playoffs. I
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: usually think quarterbacks and head coaches are the biggest factors
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: in playoff games and would rather see the mid QB
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: who hasn't won a playoff game than see a three
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: time Super Bowl champ despite our team's history in Denver.
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: How far do you think Drake me could throw the
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: ball in Denver? Because I think he could probably throw it.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: Like I didn't get that who's the three? I mean
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: neither the neither quarterback? I would have won a playoff game?
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: Oh Bonix, I think, right, yeah, referring to he's talking
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: about bone X, but then he was talking about a
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: three time champ, the Patrick Mahomes. Oh okay, all right.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: I thought we were talking about Denver and the Patriots
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: about Denver in Kansas City. I even watched it. I
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: got lost in some of the pregame before that Denver game.
- 1:18:42Speaker 9: I was looking at that stadium. I'm like, I don't
- 1:18:44Speaker 9: want to I don't like that place, Like I just
- 1:18:46Speaker 9: I don't know bad juju there for me. It's also
- 1:18:48Speaker 9: like my own experience when we played air Force on
- 1:18:50Speaker 9: college back in my day. But like we got off
- 1:18:52Speaker 9: the plane and I went we went to pregame ski
- 1:18:54Speaker 9: I couldn't feel my feet.
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: I'm like, what is going on here? Like it's I mean,
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: I know I'm not a professional athlete.
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: I was there couple of years ago and Christmas, and
- 1:19:01Speaker 5: as like it's fine.
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: Like walking around.
- 1:19:04Speaker 5: Yeah, like I mean, granted, like I'm not playing in
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: the game, which I said.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: Multiple physical activity, but I'm not tired at all.
- 1:19:12Speaker 5: But as I don't know, this altitude thing doesn't really
- 1:19:15Speaker 5: bother me.
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: All right, let's get to the hotline. Roberts in Seattle.
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: Hey, Robert, Hello, Robert, Robert.
- 1:19:25Speaker 10: Hey, can you guys hear it?
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: Yes?
- 1:19:28Speaker 12: All right, I got a quick scenario I heard on
- 1:19:32Speaker 12: first yesterday about the Chiefs missing the playoffs. There's a
- 1:19:36Speaker 12: scenario where in the Chargers last week of the season,
- 1:19:42Speaker 12: and the Chargers currently hold the tiebreaker over the Chiefs,
- 1:19:46Speaker 12: and there could be a scenario where Sehn Payton dressed
- 1:19:49Speaker 12: all the starters and let the Chargers win to knock
- 1:19:52Speaker 12: He's out of the Super Bowl, out of the playoffs.
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: What your guys thoughts on this?
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: Yeah, well, tiebreaker doesn't matter until they play twice. So
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: if the Chargers beat the Chiefs again, then it'll be
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: a moot point. But assuming the Chiefs beat the Chargers,
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: they will no longer have that head to head tiebreaker thing.
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: That's another reason why tiebreaker talk in the middle of
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: the season is somewhat irrelevant now if you want to
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: talk about like specific non divisional teams like Kansas City
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: lost to Jacksonville. Those are two teams that could be
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: fighting for the seventh spot. That tiebreakers relevant. Jacksonville has
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: the head to head, that's not going to change. They
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: only played once. If they tie, Jacksonville has the edge.
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: You know, that's different than teams are going to play again.
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: You know, like right now, the Patriots beat Buffalo, the first.
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: About to ask you this, how?
- 1:20:51Speaker 13: How?
- 1:20:51Speaker 5: What kind of lead? What would you call the Patriots
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: current lead in the AFC game and a half, which
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: I thought was like common sense.
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: None, no, No, it's two games if you listen to
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Tony Romo, But it's not. And it's a game and a.
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: Half literally, just baseball, it's a game and a half.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: And if if Buffalo were to win Thursday night heading
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: into Sunday, it would be a one game lead, you know,
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: like to me, if the Patriots lose the second game,
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: that tiebreaker is gone. Now the Patriots would still have
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: an edge. I talked about this last week too, because
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: of the division record, right, Buffalo losing to Miami was enormous,
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: not just for the fact that Buffalo lost, but they
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: lost in the division, right, that would mean the Patriots
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: probably are going to have the tiebreaker over Buffalo, provided
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: that they beat the Jets in Miami in the last
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: two games of the season. Even if they lose to Buffalo,
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: they will have that tiebreaker edge with the division record.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: So now you just have to make sure you stay
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: at least tied.
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: There you go.
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: That's why the whole Milton Williams timeline. I do wonder
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: if like they were actually more concerned about him being
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: back for the Dolphins and Jets, because that's going to
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: be probably a hat and T shirt game at that point,
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: and you get him back, plays a game or two,
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: get him, you know, back up the speed for the playoffs,
- 1:22:14Speaker 5: and then you're into the playoffs.
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: Okay, thanks Robert, Let's go to Patty and Hey, Patty.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: Afternoon, gens. What's going on? Hey, so talking about playoff
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: speeding and who we might play. I remember back in
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: the day, back in the Dynasty one point zero, I
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: used to listen to a lot of EI. Sorry, Fred,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: I didn't know about Patriots dot Com back then, but
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: I would say it would it would be like split
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: fans would be worried about having to play teams like
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: the Colts or the Titans or the Steelers. And I
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: always had the mindset of not necessarily iron shirpinsion, But
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: don't you want to play the best competition because what
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: do what do you really learn about yourself and don't
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: have to play like.
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: I want to win games?
- 1:23:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I want to win titles.
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean when they played Tim Tebow's Broncos and
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: had to buy to the second to the AFC Championship game,
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: I had no problem with that. When they played like
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: that terrible Pittsburgh team the year I think the year
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: they played Baltimore in the Division round, they had the
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: war with Baltimore. Then they played that awful Steelers team
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: in the championship. The next week's was it the Colts?
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: The Colts team?
- 1:23:23Speaker 5: Yeah? That was older kind of touchdown pass it.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that was the game. Yeah, you're right, Yeah, give
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: me the Colts any day, any day.
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: I know, I hear what you're saying, Paul, and I agree.
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: I just want to win titles. I don't I don't
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: care who we play. But at the same time, when
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: we go back and we look at you know, the
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: the double buys.
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: We laugh at them, you know, and no, I know,
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: because we won titles. I know. No, that's why we
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: laugh at.
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: We laugh at the games themselves as pushovers. And and
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: then you look back at those years where you had
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: to beat Pittsburgh and go to Pittsburgh and beat Pittsburgh,
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: and you you you look, you know, more fondly on
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: those games than you did like Jacksonville.
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: But that's knowing I won, I know, but like if
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: I win, I would rather have beaten the best, the
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: best teams, you know, like the very first one in
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: one they were the number two seed. They played the
- 1:24:19Speaker 2: three seed in the division around, the one seed in
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: the championship, and the one seed from the NFC in
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: the Super Bowl. You can't get much more difficult than that,
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: you know, but they won, So like, wouldn't you have
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: rather said, jeez, it's too bad. Too bad the Jets
- 1:24:33Speaker 2: didn't upset Pittsburgh, so we can easier way if you
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: had lost the Tuck Bowl.
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: I just remember when the Broncos, the tebou Broncos beat
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: the Steelers in the wild card round. I celebrated like
- 1:24:44Speaker 5: the Patriots had won a game, like because you knew.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: You just the Tim Tebow game. Yeah, absolutely tomorrow, Thomas.
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: We talked about it before. I'll never forget when Denver lost.
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: They were they were the runner, and you didn't have
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: to not just play them, but you didn't have to
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: go to Denver and you end up having.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: Can you imagine how nervous I got because you won't
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: remember this, but it was. That was a Saturday game
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: that the Broncos lost to the Jaguars and the Patriots
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: didn't play untill Sunday. I was like, just like Fred's
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: talking about the Broncos are out. The Broncos are out. Now,
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: I get nervous. Now are we going to be Pittsburgh?
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: You know, like you get worried about it. But yeah,
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: sign me up for the for the easiest route as
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: long as I get there. It's now, if I'm guaranteed
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: to win, sure, I'll take a tougher route win six.
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: Where like you can have each one go a little
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: bit of a different like when you were in six
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: of them, you can say, oh, this one might have
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: been better than that one. But like, right, we let's
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: just get Mike Rabel and Drake May right, super Bowl.
- 1:25:41Speaker 9: I don't really care, That's what I was gonna say,
- 1:25:43Speaker 9: because I you know, I don't really look back on
- 1:25:46Speaker 9: the Super Bowls and think much about the path to
- 1:25:48Speaker 9: get to those super Bowls, Like twenty fourteen is probably
- 1:25:50Speaker 9: my favorite one, but I couldn't.
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: Really watch three games to glory.
- 1:25:53Speaker 9: I own all of them, Fred, you know, hey, but
- 1:25:55Speaker 9: I don't like, look when I reflect upon my favorite
- 1:25:57Speaker 9: super Bowl, I don't think, well, you know, fourteen, yeah,
- 1:25:59Speaker 9: but they you know, just House the Colts, you know,
- 1:26:01Speaker 9: like that. But I don't remember anything about like that
- 1:26:04Speaker 9: Colts AAFC championship. But when you talk about like Tennessee
- 1:26:07Speaker 9: and O three and an m v P and then
- 1:26:09Speaker 9: you talk about like I remember those games, So.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: Maybe there is something said they remember the Baltimore game
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: games and because it was if it was a close game,
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: you'd remember. Yeah, yeah, that's probably maybe that's the case.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: That's probably why I can't remember any like the Houston games.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: You don't remember, right, like like oh yeah, right, like
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Deon Lewis kickoff return. That's but that's about it.
- 1:26:30Speaker 9: But like I could almost go blow for blow on
- 1:26:32Speaker 9: like the three AFC championship against Peyton Manning with you
- 1:26:37Speaker 9: high law picking all passes left the right, you know.
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: Like you just but can you go blow for blow
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: of the five division around at Denver that you lost? Unfortunately, No,
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: and probably still a touchback, but you probably can't go
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: blow for blow in that game.
- 1:26:49Speaker 12: No.
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: But but I will say that's the games an outlive
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: for me because that's like one of the most impactful
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: games I feel like on me sitting here right now,
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: because like that game bugged me so much that it
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: just like sparked me into whole new territory of like
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: wondering about the Patriots and covering football and all that.
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: It was a touchback like it was, it was a
- 1:27:07Speaker 5: Blaine I think that was like absolutely that was you
- 1:27:09Speaker 5: know uppings from the tuck rule. You know, they're like,
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: well you got the break, you know one, so now
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: we're gonna go.
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: They couldn't have us continue winning like that.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: No, they didn't have it that day anyway. I mean
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: that was that game because maybe they might not want
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: to throw one hundred and eight yard interception and you
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: wouldn't have had that happened. Just saying, you know, Frady
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: was great and all, but that was a horrific play.
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: Vinnie in Vegas, what's up, Vinnie?
- 1:27:34Speaker 13: Hey, guys, how's it going all right? You know, I
- 1:27:37Speaker 13: apologize if you guys have already spoken extensively about the defense,
- 1:27:41Speaker 13: but I just, you know, I just started listening right now.
- 1:27:45Speaker 13: Don't get me wrong. I am very excited about the year,
- 1:27:49Speaker 13: and I think, no matter what happens from now on,
- 1:27:52Speaker 13: we can consider this a successful year, even with the
- 1:27:55Speaker 13: new expectations. But I do think that our defense is
- 1:27:59Speaker 13: going to be eventually a downfall. I don't think that,
- 1:28:02Speaker 13: you know, we don't. We made some quarterbacks, some bad
- 1:28:06Speaker 13: quarterbacks look pretty good. We don't take them all away.
- 1:28:10Speaker 13: We don't pressure the quarterbacks that you know, what will
- 1:28:12Speaker 13: be considered a high rate. I think Carlton Davis has
- 1:28:16Speaker 13: been underwhelming, and I think Gonzo has been all right,
- 1:28:20Speaker 13: but I don't think he's been great. I just think eventually,
- 1:28:23Speaker 13: like I said, it's gonna catch up to us. Our
- 1:28:25Speaker 13: defense is just okay, nothing great.
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, thanks Vinnie, most of the stats we're
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: not perfect. Most of the stats would agree with Vinnie. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:28:35Speaker 5: they're they're I think they're twenty eighth right now in
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: DVOA on defense. Like most of the metrics and even
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: some of the eye tests, I would say that would agree. Now,
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: every week I think it's gonna come and bite them
- 1:28:48Speaker 5: in the butt. And every week they give up an
- 1:28:50Speaker 5: opening drive touchdown and then they give up no points
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: for two quarters. So eventually you're going to play a
- 1:28:54Speaker 5: team that maybe is better. But I just watched Tampa
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: Bay go up and down the field in Buffalo against
- 1:29:00Speaker 5: the Bills in different kind of game, different type of
- 1:29:03Speaker 5: you know, situation, But they didn't do that against the
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: Patriots defense. You know, they had some success, but they
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: didn't put thirty three points up on the Patriots defense.
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: So I don't know. Every week I think it's going
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: to be that week that they're going to finally the
- 1:29:17Speaker 5: Chickens are going to come home to roost. And every
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: week I look up in the fourth quarter and it's
- 1:29:21Speaker 5: seventeen twenty twenty one points, So maybe it won't in.
- 1:29:26Speaker 9: Sometimes it's almost the same thing as like the run
- 1:29:27Speaker 9: gamer you're just talking about where a few handful of
- 1:29:30Speaker 9: plays kind of change how you think about it. And
- 1:29:32Speaker 9: I think some of the defense in that way too,
- 1:29:34Speaker 9: Like there's you know a handful of defensive plays over
- 1:29:36Speaker 9: the course of this season that have dramatically impacted games.
- 1:29:40Speaker 9: But you know, on a down to down basis, I
- 1:29:41Speaker 9: don't know how great the running game is, and on
- 1:29:43Speaker 9: a down to down basis, I don't know how great
- 1:29:45Speaker 9: the defense is.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: I think I mean a lot of what any just said.
- 1:29:48Speaker 9: It's it's you just wonder if a team is going
- 1:29:50Speaker 9: to come out and really not blank after that first
- 1:29:54Speaker 9: drive and score and then score again. And you and
- 1:29:57Speaker 9: I at least like the Patriots' chances with Drake made
- 1:29:59Speaker 9: to keep pace now with that, like that, if that
- 1:30:00Speaker 9: was you know, Mac Jones will still the quarterback, you'd
- 1:30:02Speaker 9: be like death sentence, like, you know. So I still
- 1:30:04Speaker 9: think that they're going to be able to get into
- 1:30:06Speaker 9: some of those back and forth kind of games. But
- 1:30:09Speaker 9: but I get it, you know, and I think that's
- 1:30:10Speaker 9: you know, I want to learn the truth, you know.
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: Do they have the ability, like if a team comes
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: out that has a good offense, that's willing to be
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: aggressive on first and second down and just actually throw
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: the ball, because what's happening right now is that first
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: down happens. Then they get into these second downs and
- 1:30:29Speaker 5: teams are running the ball on second and down against
- 1:30:31Speaker 5: the Patriots, And the Patriots run defense has been really,
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: really good so now you know they might get five
- 1:30:36Speaker 5: six yards on first down, then they get zero yards
- 1:30:39Speaker 5: on second down, and then all of a sudden you're
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: playing the third and medium. And that's just been the
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: pattern all year long. So do if one of these teams,
- 1:30:46Speaker 5: you know, I I'd to whoever in the playoffs, if
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: you just go into this game and you say, you
- 1:30:51Speaker 5: know what, we're probably going to throw it forty five
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: times and that we're not really going to be able
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: to run much on these guys. We're not going to
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: get into second and and run the ball and turn
- 1:31:01Speaker 5: it into third and long automatically. We're going to throw
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: the ball on first and second down aggressively. Did the
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: Patriots have the ability to stop it?
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: Dink and dunk middle of the field right like Brady? Would?
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: Brady be a tough matchup for this. And I think
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: people are just worried, I mean partly because that's what
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: we do as fans, We worry. But they haven't really
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: faced I mean, really only two teams that had the
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: ability to do what Evan's talking about, Like Justin Fields
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: isn't going to be able to do that. Dylan Gabriel
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: can't do that. Cam Wood can't do that what he
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: just talked about, but Baker Mayfield probably could have, and
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: we know Josh Allen can. Those are the two games
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: that I thought the defense played the best considering who
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: they were, you know, considering the opponent. Buffalo turned it
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: over three times, they had eleven penalties. Tampa didn't do
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: that stuff. They stopped Tampa. They held them to twenty three,
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: you know, without you know, a lot of you know,
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: self inflicted wounds by this, you know, I think Buffalo
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: held itself twenty I think Tampa the Patriots stopped. Now,
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: you can make an argument Tampa isn't that kind of offense.
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: But to Evan's point, the next week on the road,
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: they put ten more points up on Buffalo. Then they
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: scored against you so and it was on the road.
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: So they're more than capable of having those kinds of games.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: I think that's what people worry about. What would this
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: defense look like if they had to play these teams
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: more frequently? And you're going to see more of those
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: in the playoffs.
- 1:32:28Speaker 5: When you get to second and medium or long against
- 1:32:31Speaker 5: his defense every single time a team runs the ball
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: and second and ten against the Patriots, I'm like thank you.
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: Just bring the punter out because you're not going to
- 1:32:39Speaker 5: be able to run the football effectively. So second down
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: and long becomes third and long, and now the Patriots
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: have a chance to get off the field. So what
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: happens when second and long becomes a pass and it's
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: Josh Allen dropping back to pass on second down? Do
- 1:32:52Speaker 5: you even get to third down?
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:32:54Speaker 7: You know?
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: And those are the things that worry you about the defense?
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: Nick in Boston writes in he says, I agree Fred
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: about the rivalry uniforms.
- 1:33:01Speaker 4: I love them.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: Are we ever gonna wear them again? Once per year?
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: What's the plan?
- 1:33:05Speaker 7: Well?
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: I know they're going to wear them once a year
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: for the next three years. Whether or not they wear
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: them more than that, I think the league has to.
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: Allow for that, so they always be at home when
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: you wear them. I don't know. Probably so did you
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: guys the uniforms the Rams War, Yeah, those right? With
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: those considered, I really liked those, Yeah, Blackout, I really
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: liked when those blue in the and I really liked
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: the helmets. Helmets they just didn't seem to be much
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: pomp and circumstances around well during the day ours was
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: that night? Yeah? Yeah.
- 1:33:38Speaker 4: Also shout out to Tom E.
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: Curran, who, take two weeks into the season, quadrupled down
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: in his take that he would draft JJ McCarthy over
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: Drake May because he was more pro ready and had
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: a better arm and processing.
- 1:33:50Speaker 4: I saw people getting on Tom.
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: That was week two.
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: So what does he think now, Well, he also would
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: have drafted you're keeping the receipts.
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: Yeah, but I tried not to do it. I like Tom,
- 1:34:01Speaker 5: so I don't want to like make this a whole
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: thing because I should never know if I don't want
- 1:34:09Speaker 5: to do that. But he's been a JJ McCarthy guy.
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: But what does he think now, would he still take McCarthy.
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: Or well, he would have drafted McCarthy and that's all
- 1:34:15Speaker 5: that matters.
- 1:34:17Speaker 4: Okay, you wouldn't have drafted him at all McCarthy.
- 1:34:20Speaker 5: No, Zach Wilson two point zero, no thing, okay, but
- 1:34:23Speaker 5: I I that was what he thought at the time
- 1:34:26Speaker 5: of the draft.
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: That's all.
- 1:34:28Speaker 9: If you do this job long enough, you're probably going
- 1:34:30Speaker 9: to have some bad of course, you know, if you
- 1:34:31Speaker 9: have any kind of ability to stand question, are you
- 1:34:35Speaker 9: willing to change your mind?
- 1:34:36Speaker 7: See?
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: I agree with Fred. Yeah, if he would still take
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: JJ McCarthy then then just being stubborn, but I don't
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: think you would.
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: Max in Atlanta a long time.
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: I know we should have an advantage with Burrow, Hendrickson
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: and Chase all out for Cincinnati, but I.
- 1:34:51Speaker 2: Do wonder what we do as players, what we do
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: about Higgins.
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: Would you be willing to hire an intern to go
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: piss off T Higgins enough to spit on him before
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: Sunday game. Obviously Gonzales could eliminate Higgins from the stats sheet,
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: but I prefer going against a completely toothless Bengal since
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: a Bengal with one tooth would look weird.
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: I do think it's interesting.
- 1:35:13Speaker 11: Uh.
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: I put this out on Twitter last night. Do you
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: use Carlon Davis with you know, do you double T
- 1:35:19Speaker 5: Higgins and then put Gonzo on Yoshiva's or do you
- 1:35:23Speaker 5: put Gonzo on Higgins and Davis on Yeshiva's. I think
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: there's an argument to be made to double Higgins with Davis,
- 1:35:32Speaker 5: who I think is stylistically it's a decent matchup for Davis,
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: I agree, and then you can put Gonzo on Yoshivas,
- 1:35:40Speaker 5: who's not Jamar Chase, but he's not slouch like Yeshiva's
- 1:35:45Speaker 5: can as a solid player, he doesn't get a ton
- 1:35:48Speaker 5: of targets, which is you know, because of those two
- 1:35:51Speaker 5: headed monsters.
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: Averages over thirteen yards of catch on the season. As
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: like you said, as the third banana, it's the whole
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: Double the number one, and you put Gonzo on a
- 1:36:00Speaker 5: island with Yoshiva's. I don't know which way I would.
- 1:36:04Speaker 5: I would probably lean towards that way, but that's that's
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: just me.
- 1:36:07Speaker 9: What can they scheme it up to and try to
- 1:36:09Speaker 9: get you know, Higgins or Yoshiva's on Marcus Joanes somehow,
- 1:36:13Speaker 9: And that's right, that's a SEIS mismatch too.
- 1:36:15Speaker 5: Well, that's the concern, and that's why I feel like
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: you have to go into this game with matchups like
- 1:36:20Speaker 5: like what if Davis has Higgins?
- 1:36:22Speaker 4: What did Pittsburgh do to limit the uh two high.
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: Safeties they play? Everybody's playing two high safeties because Joe
- 1:36:30Speaker 5: Flack was a statue. So you put the two high
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: safeties up top, you put one.
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: Of everybody's doing it. But they were scoring points up
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: to that point.
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: Uh yeah, I think it was a funny pressure until
- 1:36:40Speaker 5: until really this past week.
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: There was a lot of wind in Pittsburgh that affected
- 1:36:45Speaker 2: the game, I think. I think also Flacco had I mean,
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: Tomlin has a lot of experience going against Flacco. He
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: hasn't always played well in Pittsburgh, Okay, And it was
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: kind of a funny game, Like it's twenty to twelve.
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: The drive in, he throws the pick to Kyle Duggar.
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: Yeah for a pick six, goes like seventy yards for
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: a touchdown. You know, if you go in there and
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: it's twenty to eighteen at the worst, you know it's
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: probably game on. Instead it's twenty seven to twelve, the
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: game's over. And then I think the last touchdown was
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: a fumble return for a touchdown.
- 1:37:17Speaker 4: Do we have an early weather report for Cincinnati.
- 1:37:19Speaker 5: It's supposed to be mild mile yeah. Yeah, Like if
- 1:37:22Speaker 5: these like low fifties, high forties, but no wind, yeah,
- 1:37:26Speaker 5: I don't think so.
- 1:37:27Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: I didn't look the wind.
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: But I wonder also if this is kind of the
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: you know, Flacco has done this where he comes back,
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: he's good for a few weeks and then you know
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: he's forty Yeah, so he kind of runs out of
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: gas a little bit. Maybe that was the beginning of
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: the end.
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: I kind of thought that Tide was turning the two
- 1:37:42Speaker 5: I safety thing. The splitz are are ridiculous, like because
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: if you put one safety up top, then you can
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: only help the Higgins or Chase. You can't help the
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: both guys. So when you put the two ice safeties
- 1:37:53Speaker 5: up top and both guys have an umbrella over them
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: and they can't hit the ball down the field, you
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: usually don't want to play two high safety against a
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: mobile quarterback because then there's nobody left for the quarterback.
- 1:38:03Speaker 5: So then the guy's just gonna run all over the place.
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: But he don't.
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: He ain't over, he can't run, he can't go anywhere.
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: So you're you just put the safeties up top, you
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: double both Higgins and Chase with the safeties you rush for,
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: and then you have you know, I thought the Jets
- 1:38:18Speaker 5: towards the end of that game, even though the Bengals
- 1:38:20Speaker 5: scored a lot of points early in that game, by
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: the end of that game, the Jets kind of figured
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: that out and were starting to, you know, kind of
- 1:38:27Speaker 5: bracket both guys and force in the ball out.
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: Chicago did the same thing after the Bear scored the
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: level and touchdown, but they kind of shut it down. Yeah,
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: so the Jets up a lot of points.
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: But yeah, the Jets I felt like, kind of put
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: their fourth quarter, kind of put a blueprint a little
- 1:38:45Speaker 5: bit out there. And then Pittsburgh played seventy one percent
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: of the game out of two high safeties and completely
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: shut down the Bengals. So I think that that's that's
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: really what it's looking at. But I don't know if
- 1:38:56Speaker 5: you need to do that necessarily, if it's just take it,
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: you know, don't know if you need to put that
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: many resources in coverage.
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: Shawn's and Vancouver Hey, Sean cove Hey.
- 1:39:07Speaker 14: So there's been a lot of talk about Casey in
- 1:39:11Speaker 14: the playoffs there. They're five and five. They've lost to Jacksonville,
- 1:39:15Speaker 14: to Buffalo, the third in the division. They have a
- 1:39:17Speaker 14: tough schedule.
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: I don't they have one of the easiest schedules remaining.
- 1:39:22Speaker 14: Well, they still play like three tough games, Like it's
- 1:39:25Speaker 14: not as easy as the Patriots. But I mean, I
- 1:39:27Speaker 14: don't think unless they went out, I don't even know
- 1:39:28Speaker 14: they're going to make the plays.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they might not. I mean, they have
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: five losses. My guess is they'll they'll end up with
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: at least ten wins and get in ten.
- 1:39:38Speaker 14: I don't know, we'll do it and not tamed third
- 1:39:41Speaker 14: in entergiment and maybe the Chargers will will completely fall apart.
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: But why that mean three made it last year from
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: that division? Why can't they do it again?
- 1:39:48Speaker 7: Well?
- 1:39:49Speaker 14: Well, because Patriots are are are the team that's probably
- 1:39:52Speaker 14: going to win the East, That's why. And Buffalo is
- 1:39:54Speaker 14: still there, so there's just not enough space if they
- 1:39:58Speaker 14: win ten wins, and what's Jacksonville going to do? I mean,
- 1:40:00Speaker 14: they're probably going to win ten as well.
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: Who do you think would have a better chance of
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: winning ten Jacksonville or Kansas City.
- 1:40:06Speaker 14: At this point, Jacksonville because they have more wins.
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: Okay, I mean I would. I would bet on Kansas
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: City if I was if I had to bet money,
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: I'm not allowed to do that, but I would have
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: more faith in the stretch Drive with Patrick Mahomes than
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence. And then you know, games that you have
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: to win. I would have more faith in Kansas City
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: winning games that you have to win.
- 1:40:28Speaker 14: Yeah, okay, but.
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: Last year, I mean just last year, all three of
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: those teams from the AFC West made the playoffs, So
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: I don't know why that would be so out of
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: the ordinary to happen again. Plus, I think the Chargers
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: are trending the other way because their offensive line is
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: just completely in shambles. And I don't even think Justin
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: Herberts has a chance to make it through the season.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: So when you're making a point to a caller, why
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: do you always look at Deuce? Because I thought we
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: were just talking about it now I know, But like
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: I'm listening, I have Sean, I know, I just I'm
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: just wanting it's fine one of the all time greats
- 1:40:58Speaker 2: use on the Mount.
- 1:40:59Speaker 4: Rushmore cons head on.
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: No, I just we're just talking about it. But I mean,
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: just like you know, I asked, I asked Sean what
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: he thought he thought Jacksonville saw. I was looking tonight
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: to see what maybe would you think, idiot? What do
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: you guys? I would I would put my money on
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: on Kansas City over Jacksonville too.
- 1:41:17Speaker 9: But I think that's gonna be an interesting game this
- 1:41:19Speaker 9: weekend against Indy two.
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: Thanks Sean, good good barometer for where since.
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: But let's just say they lose cities at home, Like
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: I don't. I don't put eleven wins off the table
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: for them. Like they've done this before, Like, yeah, no,
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: I hear it. When they're eliminated, then I will no
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: longer be concerned.
- 1:41:36Speaker 9: Theynern everybody, because yeah, you know, they're just that's they're
- 1:41:39Speaker 9: the team right now that like Brady and Patriots until
- 1:41:42Speaker 9: they're dead.
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: Going into the nineteen playoffs, that team stunk like down
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: the stretch, they were not good Patriots. Yeah, did you
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: think they were going to be Tennessee here in the
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: wildcard round?
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: I did.
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: I wonder that I did. I don't remember I did.
- 1:42:00Speaker 5: And I also still believed in Santa Claus back then.
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: So like I guess i'd like to think that I didn't. Yeah,
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: but I'm like, it's still Brady Brady, It's still the Patriots.
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: I think I remember saying there's no way they lose
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: this game.
- 1:42:12Speaker 9: It's funny you bring that up, Haul, because I was
- 1:42:14Speaker 9: actually at some point recently looking back at that game
- 1:42:17Speaker 9: and I was wondering that exact thing, because it was,
- 1:42:19Speaker 9: you know, my first year. I still was kind of
- 1:42:21Speaker 9: used to more being on the outside of it, and
- 1:42:24Speaker 9: that was a tumultuous season and it certainly, like Dent
- 1:42:28Speaker 9: did my faith a little bit and what the team
- 1:42:30Speaker 9: was going to be able to do. But like at
- 1:42:32Speaker 9: the same time, I don't know if it had been
- 1:42:33Speaker 9: beaten out of me yet of like, well it's Bill
- 1:42:35Speaker 9: and Tom, like come on, I don't I don't know,
- 1:42:37Speaker 9: I have to I'd love to go back and look
- 1:42:39Speaker 9: and see what I really felt about that.
- 1:42:40Speaker 5: Well after eighteen, how could you? I mean, Like, that's
- 1:42:43Speaker 5: where I keep going back to with Kansas City is
- 1:42:46Speaker 5: if you had told me after the Miami Miracle that
- 1:42:48Speaker 5: that team was going to win the Super Bowl in
- 1:42:50Speaker 5: twenty eighteen, I would have said you were crazy, Like
- 1:42:52Speaker 5: we were having like oh bits on the you know,
- 1:42:54Speaker 5: after that game, on the season and on the Dynasty
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: like that that it was over. I just wonder if
- 1:43:00Speaker 5: Kansas City is just at that point now where they're
- 1:43:02Speaker 5: just like, let's just get to the dance, Like, let's
- 1:43:04Speaker 5: get in the dance and then we have Patrick Mahomes
- 1:43:06Speaker 5: and we have Andy Reid, we have Travis Kelcey and
- 1:43:09Speaker 5: Chris Jones and we'll figure it out.
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: I'm kind of looking at them a little like the
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: O nine Patriots, Like I just I don't think this
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: is the year for them. You want to talk big picture,
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: like where they're going where they're headed with this ceiling
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: is I don't think this is it for them. I
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: think they have too many, too many flaws. It stuts
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: to me with that right tackle who is completely and
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: utterly incompetent, Is it Juwan Taylor? Yes, I always say
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: the wrong name. He can't line up. He can't line
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: up because he has no faith in his ability. I mean,
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: there's the reason why he's always in the backfield because
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: he's cheating because he can't block straight up that completely.
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: When I watch them play, they move the ball and
- 1:43:47Speaker 2: then he either get sacked or forced to throw the
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: ball away at some point to end a drive. And
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: it's almost always at some point where he can't contain
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: the guy in front of them. Yeah, and I don't
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: know why. I have a lot of respect for Andy Reid.
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: I don't know why they haven't figured that out to
- 1:44:01Speaker 2: find somebody who can play better than him. But they haven't.
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: And they have too many they have too many holes.
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: It's like, how do you discern though, between because there
- 1:44:10Speaker 2: are plenty of years. I'm sure you felt the Patriots
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: just didn't have it that year nine was one. How
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: do you differentiate though, between the Chiefs don't have it
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: this year, or the Ravens just don't have it this year,
- 1:44:18Speaker 2: they bills don't just or they're going to turn it
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: on when they need to, you know that. But I'll
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: give you another year that I didn't think the Patriots
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: had it, and damn they almost did.
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: Was six.
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: They just weren't that good. Yeah, but or not? You know,
- 1:44:33Speaker 2: you look, you look up and they've beaten a fourteen
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: and two team on the road in the playoffs, and
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: then they have a twenty one to three lead in
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: the AFC Championship game that obviously they couldn't hold on to.
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: But I think that was a very simple. Well, they
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: pumped in the flu.
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: They're pumped in the flu and the noise the flu.
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: They gave the whole team the flu.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: They put it in the gator.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: Well, you have Alexander to cover Dallas clock. You know
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: that that might have had a problem.
- 1:44:56Speaker 5: But Rodney Harris, But the question is is like Mahomes
- 1:44:59Speaker 5: is timeline and I like is where you are like
- 1:45:02Speaker 5: six oh nine timeline for Brady, But the rest of
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: the team ain't like and you read sixty eight years old.
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: You know, Travis Kelsey is gonna if he's not going
- 1:45:10Speaker 5: to retire at the end of this year. He's retiring,
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: so he's done. Chris Jones, I think, is also starting
- 1:45:16Speaker 5: to be closer to Dune sure as well.
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: So like, well, listen, they're not going to fall off
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: the cliff, but it's a gradual but it's going to
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: be very similar to the Patriots. But all of a sudden,
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: you know, like because I agree with everything, I just.
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: Don't because of the age of Reed. So like they're
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: gonna have to They're gonna they need a new head coach. Yeah,
- 1:45:34Speaker 5: they might, they might do. They might have to do
- 1:45:36Speaker 5: the good thing of it. And it's kind of happening
- 1:45:38Speaker 5: now too. Is that Bill and Brady age wise lined
- 1:45:43Speaker 5: up perfectly that they both could be here for twenty years.
- 1:45:46Speaker 5: That's not going to happen with Mahomes and and.
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: And it's a good point. He's going to last. That's
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: a good point. They need the Gronk Draft, you know,
- 1:45:54Speaker 2: That's what I was getting at, Like, look at like
- 1:45:57Speaker 2: the last couple of years. You know, it's guys like
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: Brock Bauers and Sam Laporta and like Colston Loveland, Tyler Warren.
- 1:46:06Speaker 2: They need they need one of those guys in the
- 1:46:08Speaker 2: next draft, like in the first round. Maybe even not
- 1:46:11Speaker 2: a great tight end draft. Okay, I don't care. Someone
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: will be really good. Is pretty good, someone will be
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: really good. They need to Evan's right, you know, they
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: need to They need to stop relying on Kelsey because
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: he I mean, and he actually had a pretty good
- 1:46:24Speaker 2: game the other day, but he didn't get it anymore.
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: He can't be that guy for them anymore. I mean,
- 1:46:30Speaker 2: it's literally but it can change like that.
- 1:46:32Speaker 5: Taekwon Thornton, Xavier Worthy is a one trick pony or
- 1:46:36Speaker 5: she Rice is back.
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: But right, but Rice was terrible the other day and
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: he's a better player than that. Yeah, but he was
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: invisible in that game.
- 1:46:43Speaker 5: It would be one thing if they were just the
- 1:46:45Speaker 5: nine Patriots that just needed to turn the roster over
- 1:46:48Speaker 5: around Brady and Belichick. But they might need a new coach.
- 1:46:51Speaker 7: Now.
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: Your point about the coach is a good one, and
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: that and that does differentiate. That's a good point.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: Good point.
- 1:46:57Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: Is it Bill Wallace to George and the beat just
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: keeps going on or is this to build a gerd
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: my own?
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: George Seffert was closer to Gerard Mao than.
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: If it's Matt Nagy.
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: Going back to the uh Thursday night games and teams
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: with multiple ones, Dan from Maine says that the bill Seahawks, Rams, Dolphins, Broncos,
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: and Eagles have two.
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: The Cowboys have four.
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: Well, the Cowboys played Opening Day, which doesn't to me
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: count as that theresayn I despite the fact that it's
- 1:47:28Speaker 2: played on Thursday. Now I agree with that, but they
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: also play on Thanksgiving and then they play two other
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: thanks Yeah, that's a lot. Yeah, that's a lot. You
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: know three let's I agree with you.
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: The first one doesn't count, but even three is too many.
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: Yeah, they have to play on Thanksgiving because they're you know,
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: they de Troy and Dallas play on well, I mean
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: that's just the way they do it.
- 1:47:52Speaker 4: But they don't.
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: They shouldn't have to play two others.
- 1:47:54Speaker 5: You play four.
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: They should play one other, not two others.
- 1:47:58Speaker 5: Why do they have well one of them? I think
- 1:48:00Speaker 5: it's Christmas.
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: Should we get rid of that tradition.
- 1:48:03Speaker 4: Where the Lions and Cowboys have to play.
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: On Evan clearly says yes, yes, I don't know.
- 1:48:09Speaker 5: I like I at least the Lions now are good
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: so like, but as a kid, it wasn't that case,
- 1:48:14Speaker 5: and they were all you know, I love long hair
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: Brady against the Lions. I mean, oh yeah, Brady at
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: some point like can we just the best game?
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: And selfishly I want to keep them there because that's
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: less chances of having to play on things.
- 1:48:28Speaker 4: That's true.
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, as a fan, if I was going to
- 1:48:31Speaker 2: look at it from ten thousand feet, I would say, yeah,
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: these guys are right. You know, let's have three NICs.
- 1:48:36Speaker 2: Detroit's good now because you three different games every year.
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: Force fed just got that Friday game?
- 1:48:40Speaker 4: Who's got the Black Friday Game on Amazon this year?
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: At the top of mind.
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: And it's a double header, right.
- 1:48:47Speaker 5: I think it's just one, just one Bears Eagles, which
- 1:48:50Speaker 5: will be good.
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: That's a that's a good matchup.
- 1:48:52Speaker 5: Shout out to my boy looking pretty good, Ben Johnson
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: there in Chicago. What's the name of that running back?
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: They got mug wires something. I he looks good. I
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: mean he runs hard.
- 1:49:03Speaker 4: It's like when guy.
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: Caleb Caleb looks are really good, really good.
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: So I watch him a little bit and you know,
- 1:49:12Speaker 2: again we got a chance to see that. Like, I
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: think he looks better than his numbers would indicate. I
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: think he looks like a whole different guy from that's all.
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: Ben Johnson, he's a problem man. You can't he can't
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: get him down. I mean, he's just so slippery. He
- 1:49:24Speaker 2: still doesn't have great numbers, though his stats are made
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: at best.
- 1:49:28Speaker 5: It is crazy to see the exposition between Ben Johnson
- 1:49:32Speaker 5: and Rable, Like they just could not be more polar opposite.
- 1:49:35Speaker 2: It's great if they both end up being really good.
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: That's great for the league. I don't have to do
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: it one way.
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: Was like Bear's Patriots super Bowl. Down the line is
- 1:49:44Speaker 5: like our super Bowl. It's like the football guy versus
- 1:49:47Speaker 5: the nerd Drake and Caleb like it just.
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: You know what I mean, Like everybody's like, oh, you
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: got to do it this wee you gotta have the
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: tight pants offensive mind. You know there's a or you know,
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: no defense still wins championships.
- 1:50:00Speaker 7: Got to do it that way.
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: No, Like there's a lot of different ways to win.
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: I think it'd be great if both of those guys
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: who I agree with Evan those they're kind of polar opposites.
- 1:50:07Speaker 7: Bart And.
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: Poland says, I don't want to brag, but this was
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: part of my email from beginning of August. I really
- 1:50:14Speaker 3: don't think ten wins this season is that far fester
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: and realistic. With some good luck, the right breaks and
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: a big year two leap from Drake, even eleven or
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: twelve wouldn't totally shock me, end quote.
- 1:50:25Speaker 2: And we are looking nicely for at least those twelve wins.
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: Obviously, if we go fourteen and three and get the
- 1:50:30Speaker 3: number one seed, that would be really surprising from the
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: preseason perspective.
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: But let's act like let's not act like nobody.
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: Had us having around twelve wins before the season with
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: May making a big leap.
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: Well, Bart, you were one of them.
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: I'm going to give Erson that had twelve wins.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: I'm going to get Bart as flowers because I believe
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: that he wrote that in and I'll bet anything that
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: I laughed except for the part about Drake May's second
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: year two leaps. Here was always my caveat.
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: But I think he would have had to have a
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: y or two leave to have ten wins. Well, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: I forget twelve or fourteen.
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: I mean, you watch some of these other teams.
- 1:51:07Speaker 9: You know that the Patriots have played Carolina, the Falcons
- 1:51:09Speaker 9: that are so up and down week to week and.
- 1:51:11Speaker 2: They win one and they lose one, and you know,
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: you just Carolina up and down inconsistency, young Carolina is
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: I mean Atlanta, Oh yeah, yeah, well but you know
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: they won some games.
- 1:51:20Speaker 9: I mean, you know it's I mean it's not every
- 1:51:22Speaker 9: back and forth, but what is that your Carolina team they.
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: Keep they keep on that back and but you know
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: what I mean, like frisky every other week.
- 1:51:30Speaker 5: That you would play like they're frisky.
- 1:51:32Speaker 9: All these teams are kind of frisky. Yeah, I don't
- 1:51:34Speaker 9: think incredibly unfrisky.
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: Well Carolina. Carolina is the epitome of your frisk.
- 1:51:40Speaker 5: Week four Carolina, that blowout looking a little bit better some.
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: Weeks, next week's better. Next week it'll look bad.
- 1:51:49Speaker 5: On defense this week it looks.
- 1:51:51Speaker 9: But I just think generally speaking that that is what
- 1:51:54Speaker 9: we expected the Patriots to be. One of those teams
- 1:51:57Speaker 9: that they beat a bad team they lose to, you know,
- 1:51:59Speaker 9: up and down.
- 1:52:00Speaker 2: And I said it a million times. There's like twelve
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: toss up games. They're probably going to go six and six.
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: Instead they're going to go ten and two. Yeah, right right,
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: and there it is. They're going to go ten and
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: two with those toss up games. Because I don't see
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: them losing to Cincinnati. No, Cincinnati wasn't even one of
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: the toss up games. I don't see them losing to
- 1:52:16Speaker 2: the Giants. Well, the Dolphins, Jets, those are the to me,
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: the remaining toss up games. I don't see them losing those.
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: I Uh.
- 1:52:26Speaker 5: The Atlanta thing fascinates me because I would think that
- 1:52:29Speaker 5: they're in the head coach and maybe even they traded
- 1:52:32Speaker 5: their first round pick.
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, you know who hasn't Yeah, the Rams,
- 1:52:37Speaker 2: you know who might have their quarterback of the future
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: in this next draft if they find one that they
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: really like, and there it is.
- 1:52:43Speaker 5: They they traded their first round pick for James Pierce,
- 1:52:46Speaker 5: who's been fine, but like not worth.
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: Trading worth trading up there.
- 1:52:49Speaker 5: Yeah, and they so they don't have a first round
- 1:52:52Speaker 5: pick next year. They've completely broken Pennix, Like he's just
- 1:52:55Speaker 5: completely broken literally amphis Yeah, and you're right, literally, like
- 1:53:00Speaker 5: so that that whole thing could be turned over again.
- 1:53:03Speaker 5: That might be an entire.
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: Clean Another one that bugged me, like, I have nothing
- 1:53:06Speaker 2: like Michael Panix. He's fine, like whatever, Oh too bad.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: This kid just can't catch a break. He can't stay healthy,
- 1:53:12Speaker 2: like that's not been the problem. Like he's not very
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: good well, but he like he came out of college
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: with injuries.
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: Yeah, but like that that he's had six career season
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: ending injuries in his career.
- 1:53:25Speaker 2: How many seasons as he played?
- 1:53:26Speaker 5: Yeah, he well, he had like there's all that picture
- 1:53:29Speaker 5: that goes around with him with in a wheelchair with
- 1:53:31Speaker 5: both knees all wrapped up. He's he's had like significant
- 1:53:36Speaker 5: knee injuries, like not just like oh, he tore his
- 1:53:39Speaker 5: acl when he was seventeen, Like he's had knee injuries
- 1:53:42Speaker 5: in the past that were career threatening already and now
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: he has another one.
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: Oh yeah, No, I mean like he had a lot
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: of injuries in college for sure, But like I don't
- 1:53:51Speaker 2: think he's played all that well. I don't think it's
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: because of his injuries that have like they were like
- 1:53:55Speaker 2: he's played really well and then and then he gets hurt,
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: you know, like JJ mcarthy, we have no idea, Like
- 1:54:02Speaker 2: he missed his whole rookie year and then one game
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: into his second year he's out for six weeks. Now
- 1:54:08Speaker 2: when he has played, he hasn't played well.
- 1:54:10Speaker 5: Out for six weeks.
- 1:54:12Speaker 2: He missed six games.
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: Oh you're saying maybe like a quiet Ben j Okay
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: for Carson Wentz.
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: He played like one good quarter of football and he.
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: Has not played. That's not My point. Wasn't that he's good.
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: My point was if someone wanted to argue and say, well,
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: we haven't really seen enough from j. J. McCarthy because
- 1:54:37Speaker 2: he's always hurt. He's always hurt, like Michael Penicks just
- 1:54:40Speaker 2: got hurt, Like he missed one game with like a
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: like a bruise knee or something in his career prior
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: to this. Right, he didn't miss it, did he? Like,
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: am I misremembering? Did he miss time last year with
- 1:54:53Speaker 2: an injury?
- 1:54:54Speaker 5: No, he just didn't start right away and he finished
- 1:54:57Speaker 5: the season mid at best. JJ McCarthy's like just hitting
- 1:55:02Speaker 5: ball boys on the sideline.
- 1:55:04Speaker 2: It's like it's like Lance blew on his knee, like
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: in the first game that he ever played his alter
- 1:55:10Speaker 2: ego nine.
- 1:55:12Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:55:13Speaker 5: I love it when like he's like like airmail is
- 1:55:15Speaker 5: a receiver on the sideline and someone on the.
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: Bench is like, did you see like like any shots
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: like Jefferson in this game?
- 1:55:22Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:55:23Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: Can we pry him loose to New England? JJ? Justin Jets,
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: give me it's great.
- 1:55:29Speaker 3: I'm Ryan, and Quincy writes in hand up, I'm walking
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: back my take that this team is not in win
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: mode now.
- 1:55:40Speaker 4: Or win now mode.
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: Uh, this team's just won and covered a game in
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: prime time on a short week while playing a C
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: minus game at best. That's a sign of a team
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: that can win at all. Also, I'm not sure if
- 1:55:53Speaker 3: you have heard Drake's new nickname that the haters are using. Uh,
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: they're starting to call him the schedule. I haven't heard that. Okay,
- 1:56:02Speaker 3: have you heard that? No, I haven't heard that.
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: I just heard Drake Drake May May.
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: Yeah, Drake Drake May May is his nickname.
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: We can do better than that.
- 1:56:11Speaker 5: No, Well, that's the point is that he doesn't need
- 1:56:14Speaker 5: a nickname. He's just Drake May because everybody says the
- 1:56:18Speaker 5: full name first of all, which is I think it
- 1:56:20Speaker 5: is feeling. I feel like it's true. Like you know,
- 1:56:22Speaker 5: whenever anybody brings him up, it's always Drake May. It's
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: not May, it's just Drake May.
- 1:56:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna have to pay attention to that. I'll see
- 1:56:28Speaker 2: if I d May May.
- 1:56:30Speaker 5: Yeah, Because everybody was trying to come up with a
- 1:56:32Speaker 5: nickname for him, and then the nickname that that settled
- 1:56:35Speaker 5: on was just well, he's just Drake.
- 1:56:37Speaker 2: May come up with a new tradition. You can't come
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: up with a new nickname when you're trying. It just
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: has to happen, Okay.
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: One final exactly, no, I know, and.
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: He called me d trained for the first like month
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: I worked here and that didn't work out.
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: One final email, Chris and Virginia, thank you for your service.
- 1:56:55Speaker 3: A few months ago or a few shows ago, I
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: should say, someone mentioned that the upcoming game against the
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: Bills is not possible to be flex because the first
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: matchup between the two teams was already on primetime.
- 1:57:06Speaker 4: Are there any other rules?
- 1:57:07Speaker 3: Now?
- 1:57:07Speaker 4: I'm not sure about that.
- 1:57:08Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't know that that.
- 1:57:09Speaker 4: I'm not sure that's the case.
- 1:57:11Speaker 2: There's a running theory that the NFL doesn't like to
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: have the same two teams play in primetime in the
- 1:57:16Speaker 2: same year. According to Microsoft co pilot, there is no
- 1:57:18Speaker 2: rule that says that they cannot. Yeah, but I need
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: the NFL rule that one.
- 1:57:23Speaker 4: Are there any other rules to prevent a game from
- 1:57:25Speaker 4: being flex?
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: I'm specifically looking at the game in Baltimore that we
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: have tickets for and wondering what chances there is of
- 1:57:32Speaker 3: that game being flex.
- 1:57:33Speaker 2: I think there's a very small chance of that game
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: being played at one o'clock on Sunday. Let me just
- 1:57:39Speaker 2: put it that way. I don't know go to four,
- 1:57:40Speaker 2: I don't know where they'll move it to, but I'd
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: be very surprised if it's stayed at one.
- 1:57:44Speaker 5: I'm thinking for twenty five, has you know game of
- 1:57:47Speaker 5: the week Nance and Romo for twenty five.
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: Does kind of seem like that?
- 1:57:51Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, that's going to be it for this
- 1:57:53Speaker 3: edition of Patriots Unfiltered on a Tuesday. We'll see it
- 1:57:57Speaker 3: tomorrow at noon. Evan, you've got Catch twenty two at ten, correct.
- 1:58:01Speaker 3: I always take this opportunity to check in a wellness
- 1:58:04Speaker 3: check on Barth.
- 1:58:05Speaker 4: How's he doing?
- 1:58:06Speaker 5: Doing very well? Worked a lot this weekend. Yes, he's
- 1:58:09Speaker 5: very disappointed with him about.
- 1:58:11Speaker 2: A lot of people taking time off.
- 1:58:12Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm just like, you know, you can say no
- 1:58:15Speaker 5: to all the like at some point. Now he's on
- 1:58:17Speaker 5: felgriham Maz on Friday, and I told him that don't
- 1:58:20Speaker 5: say no to if they ask you to be on
- 1:58:22Speaker 5: the third chair on felgrim Maz, you go do that.
- 1:58:24Speaker 5: But all the seventeen other podcasts that he had to do.
- 1:58:27Speaker 5: Besides that, I'm like, it's not.
- 1:58:29Speaker 4: Work for him though, you don't understand.
- 1:58:31Speaker 2: No, he loves this. This is his passions, lives for.
- 1:58:34Speaker 5: He needs a girl this way.
- 1:58:36Speaker 4: His girlfriend is Pickskin.
- 1:58:38Speaker 2: Your wife doesn't have any friends, nice, nice single friend.
- 1:58:42Speaker 4: He's married to the.
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: All right, so you'll be with Barth at ten. We'll
- 1:58:48Speaker 3: be back at noon. We're going to turn the page
- 1:58:50Speaker 3: to the Cincinnati Bengals. See by then, maybe we'll have
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: some developments on the chase.
- 1:58:55Speaker 2: I think it's going to be supposed to be heard today.
- 1:58:57Speaker 5: All the insiders are saying tonight, okay, all.
- 1:59:00Speaker 4: Right, see you tomorrow.
