- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to dive into that, talk about that, and then I'll give my take on, like,
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: what I think about the biggest training camp battles for the Jaguars really are.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, very excited for it.

- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, once pads come on, that'll be even a little bit more exciting.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, not'll probably be Monday, the Monday following that Wednesday, but something like that.

- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button, helps out a ton.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to take a look at what been so like has to say here.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'll drop the link.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: in description below.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: All three of the following Jaguars will see plenty of targets this season Brian Thomas Jr. to cope with Myers and Parker Washington.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, let's get wild and throwing a fourth Travis Hunter.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: In what order those targets gets distributed?
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: Your guess is good as mine.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think you would be remiss to not also mention Britain's strange who will be targeted a lot.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, obviously not a wider silver.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's second year front office in coaching staff have invested most in Myers for whom they traded fourth and sixth round picks at the deadline last season and then Myers was extended midseason at a solid $3 or $60 million figure.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: This is notable because Thomas was drafted by the old brass and Washington has not been extended even as he approaches the final year of his contract.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: there is still time for that park or Washington extension to get done and before training camp I mean there's eight days as I mentioned before they take the practice field so obviously reporting is like a couple days before that for veterans but I predicted that the Washington would get the deal done with the Jack Wars before training camp I still think that happens but that's my guess that's my guess.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: So Myers' role is the most secure, according to Solek, even if he doesn't end up the leading target geter.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: Down the stretch last season, that player was Washington, who has the easy separation and middle of the field toughness that seems to pair well with quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: Washington is more of a traditional slot option, so he could lose snaps to Jaguar's incoming commitment to multi-titan sets as drafting of Titan-Nate
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't view Washington as I don't think that Washington is going to get cut out based on 12 personnel.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think there will be times where Washington is not on the field in 12 personnel.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think there will be times where Myers isn't on the field in 12 personnel.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: I think there will be times where Brian Thomas Jr. isn't on the field in 12 personnel.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's going to depend on what they're really trying to get accomplished, match-ups,
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: And then, so, like, continues, then there's Thomas, a first round selection who exploded as a rookie, but faded dramatically in his first year under Liam Cohen.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: Thomas reportedly shining in OTAs as a deep threat, so he might end up in every down starter, even if he isn't the same target funnel he was in 2024.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: This is less a battle for a starting job, and more a battle for positioning in the target hierarchy, but Thomas is the one to watch in training camp.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: If he looks healed from whatever odd affliction
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: very strange wording, so like he's by far the most dynamic playmaker of the three primary options.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's yeah, he is.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: And he's been one of my guys to watch for for a very long time here in Jacksonville all off season ever since like the first time we saw him on the practice field and started looking different than it had looked before.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we've been keeping an eye on BTJ.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: There are a couple things I would say.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: Is it not somewhat of an investment in Brian Thomas Jr. the fact that the Jaguar's haven't traded him?
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: Because it seems like there's been a lot of trade options on the table, et cetera, maybe nothing to their liking, but that's at least like a knot in his direction.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: The thing I would say though, so Lex, main takeaway here, this is less a battle for a starting job and more a battle for positioning in the target hierarchy.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: I hesitate to really feel that way, because I
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: I think that each one of these players is going to be targeted more or have more snaps in a specific game based on schematics and based on matchups, right?
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think if the Jaguars are going up against a team where they just don't think that that team is going to be able to compete with Brian Thomas Jr. down the field.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a Ryan Thomas junior day.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think if they're going up against a team where they want to pound the rock, where they want to kind of keep it.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: close it to the line of scrimmage.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: You're talking more Jacobi Myers.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: If you're talking about going up against the team that maybe they struggle over the middle of the field, maybe they struggle to tackle, maybe you're talking about a little bit more Parker Washington Jr.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think I'll, I just say Parker Washington, is he Parker Washington Jr. right, tripping?
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: No, Parker Washington.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: Brian Thomas Jr. Parker.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, I think that,
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: all three of these guys are going to be heavily featured, um, I think Travis Hunter will also get his most weeks, but I think it's going to be again more match up dependent, more schematics dependent, and then just like, let's say a team gives extra attention to Brian Thomas Jr.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: then you get Parker.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: If a team gives extra attention to Parker, then you get BTJ or Jericho, right?
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like different things like that.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: And again, Britain strangers, a huge factor, Travis Hunter's a huge factor too.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's fascinating to watch, but not because it's really a battle for positioning in my mind.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think that these roles are kind of very much set.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think Trevor Lawrence,
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to targets, I mean, BTJ is trying to earn more targets than he got last year, but I honestly feel like it's already there with Trevor and BTJ.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like the connection in the chemistry is showing and as long as that continues, Brian Thomas Jr. is gonna be targeted at a ton, Parker Washington's gonna be targeted at a ton, Jacob and Miles is gonna be targeted at a ton, and then you also have Britain Strange and Travis Hunter getting targeted quite a bit.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: and some of the backs out of the backfield too, primarily toton and Allen.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: But it's interesting that that would be among the top five training camp battles to watch for been so lack.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: When I think about the Jaguars, I think about right guard.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: I think that is absolutely a training camp battle, Patrick McCarrier, the incumbent.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: You've got why a Milim who should compete.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: Emmanuel Pregnant can compete as well.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: You talk about
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: off ball linebacker i think ventral miller is going to win that job i think brands in homes is going to push he's going to make it competitive uh i look at you know some of the other spots like
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: because there'd be a battle at nickel corner between Jordan Lewis and Jarian Jones.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: That feels legitimate, potentially.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Lewis, the vet, but coming off of foot injury and getting up there and certainly doesn't have the same level of speed that Jarian Jones has.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: They're super competitive.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: The battle for Edge 3, I think it's fascinating between Danny Striggow, Wesley Williams, B.J.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: Greens,
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: These guys are going to be getting after it and they actually are going to have you know stuff on the line More so in my opinion than this jackwares wide receiver group, which is going to be fun to watch I'm going to be watching them every day.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: Don't give me a wrong But not because I think that there's really that much to be had be earned or or taken away Now I guess if BGJ comes out and just looks horrible Then you can start talking about that, but
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't expect that to happen honestly the way he has shown his the maturity the work ethic the focus this off season So yeah, that's where I'm at with this one interesting that so I'll put that in the top five position battles to watch or training camp battles to watch it's
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: Barely even in my top five for the Jaguars, much less the entire NFL.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: But I do really appreciate y'all tuning in, supporting the channel.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content here, please like and subscribe.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a great one.
