- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simone Show. Live from the WOR LifeVac studios. Hey,
- 0:07Speaker 1: with us right now, Bill O'Reilly, of course, the number
- 0:09Speaker 1: one TV anchor for decades. He's the number one best-selling
- 0:13Speaker 1: non-fiction author on earth, and his latest book is already
- 0:16Speaker 1: a huge bestseller. If you haven't ordered it yet, go
- 0:19Speaker 1: get it. It's out. It's Confronting America. He takes you
- 0:23Speaker 1: through some of the biggest moments in American history over
- 0:25Speaker 1: the last couple of decades. He was there on the
- 0:27Speaker 1: front lines. It's quite a book, Confronting America. Order it now. And,
- 0:31Speaker 1: of course, go to BillOReilly.com. You can get his column,
- 0:34Speaker 1: the TV show. Watch his podcast. We'll do it live,
- 0:38Speaker 1: the Bill O'Reilly YouTube channel. You can get everything at BillOReilly.com.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Bill O'Reilly, how are you doing?
- 0:43Speaker 2: I'm already busy. It's just Monday, right? Is it just Monday? Yeah.
- 0:50Speaker 1: After a miserable weekend, it's Monday.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Right. I don't even know what day it is anymore.
- 0:58Speaker 2: But I'm doing okay. How about you?
- 0:59Speaker 1: I'm good. I'm good. Hey, you spent some time in
- 1:02Speaker 1: China recently. The visit with President Xi, President Trump, very respectful,
- 1:08Speaker 1: very cordial. Was he too cordial to him?
- 1:12Speaker 2: No, I mean, look, China is a very, let's see
- 1:20Speaker 2: what word I want to use, unpredictable place. And You're
- 1:25Speaker 2: not going to get anywhere browbeating them or insulting them.
- 1:31Speaker 2: You're not. So it's a waste of time. So the
- 1:34Speaker 2: only other avenue is to flatter them. Trump is good
- 1:37Speaker 2: at that. Yeah. And that's what that was all about,
- 1:40Speaker 2: to try to get Xi, who's a dictator, I mean,
- 1:44Speaker 2: he doesn't have to consult with anybody, to like Trump
- 1:48Speaker 2: so that Xi doesn't go out of his way to
- 1:50Speaker 2: hurt the USA, which he could. Yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 1: But is it that simple? A guy like Xi in China,
- 1:56Speaker 1: he's like, I like the guy. I mean, it's like
- 1:59Speaker 1: a gangster. They can't help themselves. They got to do
- 2:02Speaker 1: something bad to people.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a bad guy. He wears a little Mao suit.
- 2:10Speaker 2: You know, when I saw that, I went, oh. But
- 2:15Speaker 2: we have to deal with bad guys. And that's that.
- 2:19Speaker 2: And people who live in a bubble or live in
- 2:21Speaker 2: a world that doesn't exist, oh, we'll confront them. No,
- 2:24Speaker 2: you won't. Because then you think Iran's tough? Yeah. You
- 2:28Speaker 2: get involved with China?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Come on.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And then the AI stuff is just coming to a
- 2:38Speaker 2: point where most Americans don't even know what's on the horizon.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I wrote a column, and it was posted on BillOReilly.com,
- 2:49Speaker 2: wrote it yesterday, my Sunday column. And I looked at
- 2:53Speaker 2: how many reads there were on the column, hundreds of thousands,
- 2:57Speaker 2: but not what it is for a celebrity. So if
- 3:01Speaker 2: I interview a celebrity, we got a lot more views
- 3:06Speaker 2: than we did this AI stuff. That tells me that
- 3:11Speaker 2: most Americans, they're not locked into this yet. And you
- 3:16Speaker 2: better get locked in because these hackers, which are going
- 3:20Speaker 2: to work in conjunction with the AI, they have the
- 3:25Speaker 2: potential to really cause massive trouble, not only to the world,
- 3:30Speaker 2: but to you. And they're hacking medical records and financial records,
- 3:36Speaker 2: and Congress has got to step in and get involved.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Yeah, obviously it's a huge hacking problem. But Bill Gates
- 3:44Speaker 1: on the Sunday show, you know, he said it's going
- 3:46Speaker 1: to kill billions of people. We'll all be dead by Tuesday.
- 3:48Speaker 1: It's not as bad as he makes it out to be,
- 3:50Speaker 1: is it?
- 3:51Speaker 2: Not yet. No. Not yet. But if they don't control
- 3:57Speaker 2: the miscreants who are desperately trying to get advantage in AI,
- 4:02Speaker 2: like China, I mean, just think about where did COVID
- 4:07Speaker 2: come from? I think it was China. Yeah. This is
- 4:11Speaker 2: a million times worse. And when you read the column,
- 4:18Speaker 2: and we'll do it live. If you don't want to read,
- 4:22Speaker 2: you can just watch what we did with this MIT professor.
- 4:27Speaker 2: They call them rogue agents, but they're not really human.
- 4:32Speaker 2: They're machines. And they just go out of control and
- 4:37Speaker 2: don't obey orders. what their masters tell them to do.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I mean, a five-year-old, no, that's not good. Yet most
- 4:48Speaker 2: Americans are concerned, right, still, still, the gasoline, the food prices,
- 4:54Speaker 2: I understand, but boy, oh boy, this is coming fast,
- 4:58Speaker 2: this AI stuff.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and what you're talking about is the part of
- 5:03Speaker 1: the AI you've got to worry about is what they
- 5:04Speaker 1: call the recursive AI, where it can break out of
- 5:08Speaker 1: whatever limits it has. It can reinvent itself. It can
- 5:12Speaker 1: go totally rogue. But as Bill Gates and these other
- 5:15Speaker 1: guys point out, there's actually no such thing as a
- 5:18Speaker 1: kill switch. That's a myth, a total myth.
- 5:21Speaker 2: And it gets stronger.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:24Speaker 2: See, right now, most of these AI companies can rein
- 5:29Speaker 2: in something that's going wrong. But in a year from now,
- 5:35Speaker 2: they're not going to be able to do that. Hmm.
- 5:37Speaker 2: So whatever is going wrong is going to continue to
- 5:41Speaker 2: go wrong because there's no way to stop it at
- 5:45Speaker 2: this point. Now, I assume the CIA and the American
- 5:50Speaker 2: government is trying to get enough power in cyberspace to
- 5:57Speaker 2: head this stuff off. But China's not. Just China wants
- 6:01Speaker 2: unrestrained use of A.I., And that's what Trump's worried about.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Trump doesn't buy into the Armageddon situation. He goes, if
- 6:12Speaker 2: we clamp limits on AI, China will dominate all over
- 6:19Speaker 2: the world. And you have to take that seriously as well.
- 6:25Speaker 2: But my opinion is that Congress has to pass a
- 6:30Speaker 2: series of new laws that if you are involved with AI...
- 6:35Speaker 2: And doing something badly, you go to prison for a
- 6:40Speaker 2: long period of time. That's the only inhibitor I can see.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah. But we already have those laws, don't we? Liability, product?
- 6:49Speaker 2: No? Not really. You got civil laws.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 2: But you don't have federal laws. Some states have them,
- 6:58Speaker 2: but they're soft. And there's no investigative agency. We need...
- 7:03Speaker 2: And AI, FBI, that's a lot of initials, but we're
- 7:08Speaker 2: going to have to have a federal agency with the
- 7:11Speaker 2: power to surveil what the deuce is happening here. And
- 7:17Speaker 2: most Americans, it gives them a headache. They'd rather watch
- 7:20Speaker 2: the game or the movie or whatever. They don't want
- 7:23Speaker 2: to get involved with this. But I'm telling you, we've
- 7:25Speaker 2: been warned.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Hmm. Hey, Bill O'Reilly's new book, you've got to get
- 7:29Speaker 1: this book. You'll love this book, Confronting America. It takes
- 7:32Speaker 1: you through a lot of American history, and he was
- 7:34Speaker 1: there for it. We've never had a time where half
- 7:37Speaker 1: the country wanted to wipe out the other half politically.
- 7:40Speaker 1: I mean, go back to the late 60s. A bunch
- 7:43Speaker 1: of young college types hated the old people. But this
- 7:46Speaker 1: is all ages, this political war, civil war. We've never
- 7:51Speaker 1: had anything like this, have we?
- 7:53Speaker 2: No, but it's temporary. And I say that because if
- 7:58Speaker 2: President Trump did not confront Iran, the Republicans would coast
- 8:07Speaker 2: in the midterms. That changed everything, not one action. And
- 8:12Speaker 2: you remember I was on your program, and I said
- 8:15Speaker 2: it was the biggest scandal of President Trump's life, the
- 8:18Speaker 2: whole life, confronting these guys, because they don't care if
- 8:23Speaker 2: they live or die or if their people live or die.
- 8:26Speaker 2: That's a tough enemy to fight. And it's gone south.
- 8:31Speaker 2: And because it's gone south here, there may be a
- 8:35Speaker 2: political change in Congress, which is scary because these progressives, socialists, communists,
- 8:42Speaker 2: whatever they may be, they're dangerous. But I don't think
- 8:47Speaker 2: it's going to be that overwhelming. Democrats think it will be.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I think the Republicans at this point will hang on
- 8:59Speaker 2: to the Senate.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Oh, okay. All right. Well, that's good news. Bill O'Reilly's
- 9:04Speaker 1: new book. You want to get the book. It's really,
- 9:06Speaker 1: really good. Confronting America. It's already a huge bestseller. But
- 9:10Speaker 1: order Bill O'Reilly's new book, Confronting America. The podcast will
- 9:14Speaker 1: do it live. You've got a new episode coming this week, right?
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah, we have. I'm going to the White House on Wednesday.
- 9:22Speaker 2: We got Peter Navarro.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Very good.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, boy, that's going to be something. Because he
- 9:31Speaker 2: hates China.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah. And he knows a lot about it.
- 9:36Speaker 2: And his office, yeah, his office is right across the
- 9:39Speaker 2: hall from Trump's. So that'll be an interesting discussion. So
- 9:47Speaker 2: we'll drop that on Thursday. We have the AI stuff.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Great stuff. Take a listen to the podcast. We'll do
- 9:55Speaker 1: it live. Watch Bill O'Reilly's YouTube channel. Get the book.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I'm highly recommending this. book, Confronting America. And, of course,
- 10:02Speaker 1: go to BillOReilly.com. Bill O'Reilly, thanks for being with us.
