- 1:45Speaker 3: the final, the final regularly scheduled Live on the Levee
- 1:48Speaker 3: happening tonight. Had ed Riverfront Park, but there may be
- 1:52Speaker 3: some wiggle room in there. Jim Strawn is going to
- 1:54Speaker 3: join us to talk about that, coming up a little
- 1:56Speaker 3: bit later on. One thing I can tell you is
- 1:58Speaker 3: the weather is going to be absolutely fantastic. You know,
- 2:01Speaker 3: there's still the chances of rain I think this morning,
- 2:03Speaker 3: but after that lower humidity is going to be a
- 2:05Speaker 3: great night for live on the Levee tonight. Of course
- 2:07Speaker 3: tomorrow the Taste of Nitro is going on. We talked
- 2:10Speaker 3: about that yesterday with Joe Stevens on the show. So
- 2:13Speaker 3: get out there and enjoy some activities this week. We'll
- 2:15Speaker 3: talk to Jim Strong though about Live on the Levee.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Also delicate Hollis Lewis is going to stop by this

- 2:29Speaker 3: zero four nine three five five zero zero eight, And
- 2:32Speaker 3: of course we'll get into some things going on at
- 2:33Speaker 3: the news. The big news here locally yesterday, and we
- 2:38Speaker 3: talked about on Metro News midday yesterday that this unfortunate
- 2:42Speaker 3: event that in this lead story this morning wv Metronews
- 2:46Speaker 3: dot com happening with a bailiff within the Kenawa County
- 2:48Speaker 3: Sheriff's Department. That bailiff has been fired and is sitting
- 2:51Speaker 3: in jail now at South Central, And we'll talk about
- 2:54Speaker 3: that coming up a little bit later on. Let me
- 2:56Speaker 3: bring in our good buddy though it's Friday, which means
- 2:58Speaker 3: we talked to Angie Gillen from the Ganallala Charleston Humane
- 3:01Speaker 3: Association with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week. Angie,
- 3:04Speaker 3: Good morning, welcome to the show, and happy Friday.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Good morning and happy Friday, and.
- 3:09Speaker 3: As always our pet of the week's photo posted on
- 3:12Speaker 3: my social media it's Dave Allen Radio on Facebook and
- 3:15Speaker 3: at Dave A seventy one X. Tell us about the
- 3:17Speaker 3: cat known as Midnight's.
- 3:21Speaker 5: So, Midnight is literally about two pounds of just buzz
- 3:26Speaker 5: and hair. Midnight is, like I said, two pounds, two
- 3:30Speaker 5: months old. He's already been neutered. And the exciting news
- 3:34Speaker 5: is Midnight is one of mini cats that we have
- 3:38Speaker 5: moved into the Tay's Valley pet Co, into those pet
- 3:41Speaker 5: Co penthouses.
- 3:42Speaker 3: The pet coo penhouses. And I've got a special place
- 3:45Speaker 3: in my heart, as you know, for cats. But also
- 3:48Speaker 3: the last cat that my wife and I had two
- 3:52Speaker 3: now with the one we had for a number of
- 3:54Speaker 3: years that we had to have put down was a
- 3:55Speaker 3: black cat named Midnight. So I don't have to ask you,
- 3:59Speaker 3: o Ryan, for nextlanation of what that name means. I
- 4:02Speaker 3: know about Midnight, what's Midnight's story. I know that he's
- 4:06Speaker 3: as you said, he's living it up right now and
- 4:08Speaker 3: the Petco penhouse at Tays Valley location of petcoll But
- 4:12Speaker 3: what's the story.
- 4:14Speaker 5: He actually came in as astray with another sibling and
- 4:18Speaker 5: no mommy cat or anything like that. So just a
- 4:22Speaker 5: straight hitting orphan that needed somewhere to go and grow
- 4:25Speaker 5: big and strong to be available for an option.
- 4:28Speaker 3: And he's a beautiful cat. Now you said he is
- 4:31Speaker 3: newtered is he vaccinated as well? I didn't catch that.
- 4:34Speaker 5: He is as up to date on vaccines as we
- 4:36Speaker 5: can get him. He's still a little young to have
- 4:38Speaker 5: a rabies vaccine, so if you do decide to take
- 4:40Speaker 5: Midnight Homekeeper in mind, you'll have to do that at
- 4:43Speaker 5: three months old. But right now he's fully vaccinated as
- 4:47Speaker 5: he can.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Be for two months old. But you have to have
- 4:49Speaker 3: another round when he turns three months old. Three months old.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Let's talk about one of your big events coming up.
- 4:55Speaker 3: He went Kegs for Canines on the way.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Kegs for Canones is coming up literally next week, and
- 5:03Speaker 5: that would be four to seven pm at the Red
- 5:05Speaker 5: Carpet Lounge. And if you are interested in drinking beer,
- 5:10Speaker 5: petting dogs and raising money for a good cause, this
- 5:13Speaker 5: is the event for you. It's much more relaxed than
- 5:16Speaker 5: Texas and Tails, and you can honestly buy tickets up
- 5:21Speaker 5: until the day of the event, Like you can show
- 5:23Speaker 5: up at Red Carpet and say you want to come
- 5:24Speaker 5: in for kegs and we will let you in.
- 5:27Speaker 3: It's a great event, and I have an opportunity last year.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Steve Animal and I were there last year for the event,
- 5:33Speaker 3: and it's a great event. As you said, it's very,
- 5:35Speaker 3: very laid back. It said one of the best places
- 5:37Speaker 3: in Charleston to have events like add over the Red
- 5:39Speaker 3: Carpet Lounge and those folks A big shout out to
- 5:41Speaker 3: those folks for turning over their property for the day
- 5:43Speaker 3: so you can have a few drinks and maybe grab
- 5:46Speaker 3: something to eat, and maybe adopt a pet. We told
- 5:49Speaker 3: you the story once before about our good buddy Mark,
- 5:51Speaker 3: friend of the program, who adopted a dog named Miller
- 5:56Speaker 3: last year at that event. And I was at an
- 5:59Speaker 3: event with the a couple of weeks ago and I
- 6:01Speaker 3: got a chance to ask him about Miller. Miller. Miller
- 6:03Speaker 3: was taken from that event and he's doing fine.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Goh yeah, I am so happy to hear that. I
- 6:08Speaker 5: actually got to see Miller at another event we did
- 6:11Speaker 5: and got like a little update on him in between
- 6:14Speaker 5: the last time we talked about Miller, So I am yeah,
- 6:17Speaker 5: I'm very happy to hear that. And he has grown
- 6:19Speaker 5: into such a beautiful dog because he was just a
- 6:21Speaker 5: little puppy when he was Oh.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he's a beautiful dog. We're talking to Angie
- 6:24Speaker 3: Gillenwater our weekly check in with the folks of the
- 6:27Speaker 3: Canalled Charleston, New Maine Association. But Dave Allen showing five
- 6:29Speaker 3: Andy Live is brought to part by Morgan and Morgan,
- 6:31Speaker 3: America's largest injury law firm. Let's talk about numbers at
- 6:34Speaker 3: the shelters.
- 6:36Speaker 5: So numbers are becoming a little bit more manageable. We
- 6:39Speaker 5: are at least not breaking five hundred anymore. We're born
- 6:43Speaker 5: into like the four to fifty range, So still crowded,
- 6:47Speaker 5: still need to more wiggle room with adult dogs and cats,
- 6:50Speaker 5: but a lot better than we have been. And we
- 6:53Speaker 5: actually have an adoption special right now where you can
- 6:56Speaker 5: come to the shelter and spend our wheel of fortune
- 6:59Speaker 5: if you will, you spin a whee that determines your
- 7:02Speaker 5: adoption fee, and that is for adult dogs that are
- 7:06Speaker 5: already stayed.
- 7:06Speaker 3: And utered, and you got some great looking animals. As
- 7:11Speaker 3: I do every Thursday night preparing for the show, I
- 7:13Speaker 3: always so you go over your social media pages and
- 7:16Speaker 3: you just you got some great looking animals right now.
- 7:19Speaker 3: And it doesn't matter what if you want an older dog,
- 7:22Speaker 3: you want a younger dog, you want a puppy with cats,
- 7:24Speaker 3: you want a cat full grown, or you want a
- 7:26Speaker 3: kitten or whatever. You pretty much got whatever anybody would
- 7:29Speaker 3: want up there. All as they say in the car business,
- 7:31Speaker 3: as you all makes and all models ready to.
- 7:34Speaker 5: Go, absolutely there are some things everybody's type is at
- 7:38Speaker 5: the shelter right now. I can promise you that what.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Are you currently in need of? As far as donations,
- 7:43Speaker 3: I know there's some things we talk about every week
- 7:45Speaker 3: that you need. You're always looking for towels and newspapers
- 7:48Speaker 3: and things like that. What else can people help out with?
- 7:51Speaker 5: So the things right now that are running extremely low
- 7:54Speaker 5: are newspaper and Purina dog chowl along with wet dog food.
- 8:00Speaker 5: So those are the three big ones that we are
- 8:02Speaker 5: running very low on right now. Any pet supplies, any
- 8:06Speaker 5: type of monetary checks anything like that are also super helpful.
- 8:10Speaker 3: You have any events going on this weekend.
- 8:13Speaker 5: We're actually going to be in Dunbar at a back
- 8:16Speaker 5: to school event tomorrow. Meet and seth. We'll be there
- 8:19Speaker 5: if you want to stop by and say hi with
- 8:20Speaker 5: some adoptable puppies and hopefully some kittens.
- 8:23Speaker 3: And where is that going to be in Dunbar?
- 8:27Speaker 5: I you know I have have to look at that.
- 8:30Speaker 5: I'm not you haven't been.
- 8:32Speaker 3: You haven't been told where to be yet? Is that
- 8:34Speaker 3: what you're saying?
- 8:36Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I just know it is a Dunbar back
- 8:39Speaker 5: to school event.
- 8:40Speaker 3: All right, Dunbar back to school event. We'll try to
- 8:42Speaker 3: see if we can find out something about that to
- 8:44Speaker 3: let people know where you're going to be tomorrow exactly
- 8:46Speaker 3: and what time will you be there? What's the time frame?
- 8:49Speaker 5: So we'll be there from twelve to three, all.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Right, twelve to three somewhere in Dunbar tomorrow. We'll find
- 8:53Speaker 3: out where it is for you and you'll have different
- 8:56Speaker 3: pets available there.
- 8:57Speaker 5: I take it, ram, yep, yes, we will different pets
- 9:00Speaker 5: available for adoption. If you can't adopt and just want
- 9:02Speaker 5: some puffy love, we're there for that too.
- 9:05Speaker 3: And the weather's going to be great. I was talking
- 9:06Speaker 3: about that at the top of the show. I mean,
- 9:08Speaker 3: we've suffered with this heat and humidity and severe weather,
- 9:12Speaker 3: you know, it seems like every day, but things are
- 9:14Speaker 3: starting to look up. We're gonna have a really, really
- 9:16Speaker 3: nice weekend being a great opportunity for folks to come
- 9:18Speaker 3: out there and join you in Done Bar tomorrow. Talk
- 9:21Speaker 3: about the need as we always I like to talk
- 9:23Speaker 3: about this every week, talk about your need for fosters
- 9:25Speaker 3: and people just to come volunteer at the shelter.
- 9:29Speaker 5: So it's number one. It helps with our animal stress levels.
- 9:33Speaker 5: That is a big thing, is to just get them out,
- 9:35Speaker 5: even for just today. And our friends at Ellen's Homemade
- 9:38Speaker 5: ice Cream have recognized that need and have started offering
- 9:43Speaker 5: free pub cups if you participate in our what we
- 9:46Speaker 5: call Borrow a Buddy program. It's literally just taking the
- 9:50Speaker 5: dog out for the day and you return them at
- 9:53Speaker 5: the end of the day. You can take them to Ellen's,
- 9:55Speaker 5: get a free pub cup, walk the bowl of art,
- 9:57Speaker 5: you know, whatever you want to do during the day
- 10:00Speaker 5: is pet friendly, and then you bring them back and
- 10:04Speaker 5: I'm telling you, the dogs never have had a nicer
- 10:07Speaker 5: sleep than when they come back from the Borrow Buddy
- 10:10Speaker 5: day trips.
- 10:11Speaker 3: I love it.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Yeah, just it really helps our pets and it also
- 10:14Speaker 5: helps our staff at the shelter promote them for adopters.
- 10:18Speaker 3: And we're just you know, a couple of weeks away.
- 10:20Speaker 3: It's been on where you live from school starting, and
- 10:22Speaker 3: we will remind parents and grandparents and teachers and so
- 10:24Speaker 3: on and so forth that if those kids need community
- 10:27Speaker 3: service hours, because it's required to graduate in West Virginia schools,
- 10:30Speaker 3: you'd be glad to work with them on that.
- 10:32Speaker 6: Oh.
- 10:33Speaker 5: I would absolutely love to help whoever achieve their community
- 10:36Speaker 5: service hours. Come see us for sure.
- 10:39Speaker 3: All right, Hey, Angie, we'll look for you somewhere and
- 10:41Speaker 3: Dunbar tomorrow between noon and three. I appreciate you being
- 10:44Speaker 3: here and we'll talk next week because we want to
- 10:47Speaker 3: go full on throughout the week. We'll be promoting Kegs
- 10:50Speaker 3: for cane IDEs, which is happening next Saturday over the
- 10:52Speaker 3: Red Carpet Lounge. Appreciate you being here and we'll talk soon.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Thanks a lot.
- 10:57Speaker 5: Sounds great, Have a good one.
- 10:58Speaker 7: All right.
- 10:59Speaker 3: It's Angie Gill from the Kenaw Charles Newman Association with
- 11:02Speaker 3: this week's adopt Me. Please put it the week again.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Kegs for Canines is happening next Saturday at the Red
- 11:06Speaker 3: Carpet Lounge. Will be over there. I hope to see
- 11:08Speaker 3: you there as well. Let's review all right. Midnight is
- 11:13Speaker 3: a two month old male cat. He's neutered, ready to
- 11:17Speaker 3: go home. He's already had one round of vaccinations, but
- 11:19Speaker 3: because of his age two months old, they can't do
- 11:21Speaker 3: the big one, the rabies vaccine, until he is three
- 11:24Speaker 3: months old, so you will have to take care of that.
- 11:26Speaker 3: And I've got his pictures always I do every week
- 11:29Speaker 3: posted on my social media. It's Dave Allen Radio on
- 11:31Speaker 3: Facebook or at Dave a seventy on x and he's
- 11:33Speaker 3: currently a resident of the Petco penhouses at the Petco
- 11:37Speaker 3: in Tays Valley there at Liberty Square, just off the exit.
- 11:40Speaker 3: If you're coming I sixty four, get off the Tay's
- 11:42Speaker 3: Valley exit, hang a ride. It's over in the applaza
- 11:45Speaker 3: there where Applebe's and Bob Evans and everything is next
- 11:47Speaker 3: to Aldie. So cruise on over there and take a
- 11:50Speaker 3: look at Midnight, beautiful beautiful cat. As I said, I've
- 11:53Speaker 3: kind of got a special place in my heart for
- 11:55Speaker 3: a black cat's name Midnight, because my wife and I
- 11:57Speaker 3: had a black cat named Midnight that we had to
- 11:59Speaker 3: have a down about it's almost I guess it's almost
- 12:02Speaker 3: two years or so now. But a beautiful cat. Take
- 12:05Speaker 3: a look at this picture over on Dave Island Radio
- 12:07Speaker 3: on Facebook and at Dave A seventy on x text
- 12:12Speaker 3: says Midnight looks like a baby. How old is He's
- 12:14Speaker 3: two months old? And it's his sibling still available for adoption.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Sad to think of them? Operator, I don't know, and
- 12:20Speaker 3: I don't know. I have to have to reach out
- 12:22Speaker 3: to Angie about that. They did come in. Astray said,
- 12:24Speaker 3: you can imagine how little they were when they came in.
- 12:27Speaker 3: He and a sibling. I'll find out if the other
- 12:30Speaker 3: one is available as well. Texas seen on different Facebook pages,
- 12:35Speaker 3: the increase of poor dogs and cats being dumped all
- 12:38Speaker 3: across the state. What's it going to take for this
- 12:40Speaker 3: to stop? I mean, I don't know how you fix it,
- 12:44Speaker 3: you know, and just let you know what just goes
- 12:47Speaker 3: on everywhere. I follow a lot of radio stations being
- 12:50Speaker 3: a radio geek all over the nation, and there's a
- 12:54Speaker 3: radio station that I'm aware of in Grundy, Virginia that
- 12:58Speaker 3: this morning when the morning guy got there to open
- 13:00Speaker 3: things up, was greeted with a box of kittens and
- 13:04Speaker 3: he's trying to give away kittens on the air. That
- 13:07Speaker 3: was at at one of the radio stations in the Grundy, Virginuary.
- 13:11Speaker 3: So it does indeed happen everywhere. But Dave Allen Show

- 16:05Speaker 3: in addition to watching tvt Best Virginia, of course falling
- 16:09Speaker 3: to defeat. But what a great run, what a great
- 16:11Speaker 3: speaking to people that have had great runs, Jim Strown.
- 16:14Speaker 11: Top of the Morning to you, Dave, how are you,
- 16:15Speaker 11: my friend?
- 16:16Speaker 3: Fine, buddy? How's it going with you?
- 16:17Speaker 11: I'm really, really, really good. I'm really good, probably the
- 16:20Speaker 11: best I've ever been. I was at the game last
- 16:21Speaker 11: night for TBT, and as you just said, great run.
- 16:25Speaker 11: We played five games. You give me this team next year,
- 16:29Speaker 11: and I think we're already thinking about it trying to
- 16:31Speaker 11: keep that team assembled. Coach West did a great job.
- 16:34Speaker 11: I was honored to be with them. I guess Wednesday
- 16:36Speaker 11: night we were able to feed the team at Fazio,
- 16:39Speaker 11: so I got the gnomes, sit down with them, and
- 16:41Speaker 11: I like their chemistry. I like them. You give me
- 16:43Speaker 11: this team next year. I think we'll make another deep run.
- 16:46Speaker 11: I'm a little I'm a little shocked in a way.
- 16:48Speaker 11: I thought we were gonna win it after we won
- 16:50Speaker 11: the other night. We're just as good as anybody in
- 16:51Speaker 11: the nation right now. So that was a lot of
- 16:53Speaker 11: fun to It's.
- 16:54Speaker 3: One of those things that if you played let's say
- 16:57Speaker 3: two games instead of one, the best Virginia may have
- 16:59Speaker 3: won the next and then we would be waiting week.
- 17:01Speaker 11: So we had a tough third quarter, just the shots
- 17:03Speaker 11: didn't go down.
- 17:03Speaker 3: We had him.
- 17:04Speaker 11: You know, that's the way it goes. The other team
- 17:06Speaker 11: obviously a very good, very skilled I kind of hope
- 17:09Speaker 11: they win it all now, but boy, we were right there,
- 17:12Speaker 11: proud of the best Virginia. Great run and the congratulations
- 17:15Speaker 11: Coach West and the entire team. It was Boy, it
- 17:18Speaker 11: was great for the coliseum, It was great for the city.
- 17:20Speaker 11: This town was fun.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah. And look, if you're a basketball junkie, I
- 17:25Speaker 3: like basketball, but I'm a baseball football guy. But I
- 17:28Speaker 3: will say, if you're a basketball person, to have in
- 17:31Speaker 3: the heat of summer, when it's one hundred and eighty
- 17:32Speaker 3: eight degrees outside, to be able to be talking basketball
- 17:35Speaker 3: at the end of July into early August, that's pretty
- 17:38Speaker 3: cool stuff. I'm gonna ask you real quick. You mentioned
- 17:39Speaker 3: PHASEOS and then yeah, and of course, yeah, are things
- 17:42Speaker 3: going to PHASEOS right now?
- 17:43Speaker 11: You know what it's it's still it's still numbing in
- 17:48Speaker 11: a way. And if you're not if you don't know
- 17:51Speaker 11: what we're talking about our good friend Doug scaff Junior,
- 17:55Speaker 11: tragically killed on June the tenth, and he had just
- 18:00Speaker 11: put together an investment group and we closed on that
- 18:03Speaker 11: May the twelfth, so he, you know, just a month
- 18:06Speaker 11: or so. But I talked to his father a lot.
- 18:09Speaker 11: I talked of the Synthday a lot. I'm going a
- 18:12Speaker 11: lot more than I did there For a few weeks,
- 18:14Speaker 11: I couldn't go in, Dave, I didn't go in, right,
- 18:16Speaker 11: I understood, and I'm going in now. And just so
- 18:20Speaker 11: you know, we're doing very, very well. The team is assembled,
- 18:24Speaker 11: The weight staff and servers are just impeccable with their service.
- 18:30Speaker 11: I'm hearing that the food is as good as it's
- 18:34Speaker 11: it's ever ever, ever, ever been. There's a good vibe
- 18:38Speaker 11: in the restaurant. It feels good to go in, and
- 18:41Speaker 11: people are coming in droves and really really enjoying it.
- 18:46Speaker 11: You know, dinner five to nine Tuesday through Saturday. We're
- 18:50Speaker 11: not overdoing it. We haven't expanded the hours just yet.
- 18:54Speaker 11: Doug's vision was to do that. I hope, I hope
- 18:57Speaker 11: we entertain his vision and do that. I hope we
- 19:00Speaker 11: do open on Sundays eventually and put a lounge in
- 19:03Speaker 11: like he wanted to do. But right now it's business
- 19:06Speaker 11: as usual and quite frankly, people are coming and they're
- 19:10Speaker 11: enjoying it. So thanks for asking.
- 19:11Speaker 2: All right.

- 19:26Speaker 3: let's talk live on the levee.
- 19:27Speaker 11: Let's talk Live on levee, Season twenty one, week number
- 19:30Speaker 11: six of the Moses Outer Group Live on the Levee.
- 19:32Speaker 11: And just when you thought tonight might be the last
- 19:34Speaker 11: one day? Did you think tonight was the last one?
- 19:37Speaker 3: Well, you know you hearing anything, you know, you know.
- 19:39Speaker 11: I'm going to break it right now if you want
- 19:40Speaker 11: me to.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Sorry, breaking breaking news, breaking news, what do you got?
- 19:44Speaker 11: Yeah, the city now is yesterday. We've been working on this.
- 19:46Speaker 11: You know, we've had some rain outs this year. So
- 19:48Speaker 11: we're going to have a makeup live on the levee
- 19:50Speaker 11: three weeks from today Friday August to twenty second August
- 19:55Speaker 11: to twenty second, folks, circle your calendar. That will be
- 19:58Speaker 11: the final live on the levee. The car Arp and
- 20:00Speaker 11: Durance will play at six, and we're going to bring
- 20:02Speaker 11: back the Charlie West All Stars who did not get
- 20:05Speaker 11: a chance to play about a month ago because of
- 20:07Speaker 11: lightning all around us. Our buddy Joey Simonton got to
- 20:11Speaker 11: play and do the Phil Collins thing from six to seven,
- 20:14Speaker 11: and right at seven o'clock when he got done, lightning
- 20:16Speaker 11: struck and it kept coming. And much like a golf tournament,
- 20:19Speaker 11: every time there's lightning, you gotta wait at least thirty
- 20:21Speaker 11: minutes and it would not go away. So the Charlie
- 20:23Speaker 11: West All Stars did not get to play that night,
- 20:26Speaker 11: but we're going to welcome them back on August to
- 20:28Speaker 11: twenty second. So I'll be back. Unfortunately for you, I'll
- 20:31Speaker 11: be back in three weeks and we'll talk more about
- 20:34Speaker 11: that then. But tonight, all right, tonight you are going
- 20:38Speaker 11: to have me back.
- 20:39Speaker 12: Right?
- 20:40Speaker 3: Oh no, no, your contract is over. The contract is over.
- 20:42Speaker 11: Oh by the way, welcome to August.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Right, yeah, here we are, August twenty twenty five.
- 20:46Speaker 11: Acts like it's got to be somewhere soon, right, it's
- 20:49Speaker 11: going pretty quick. But tonight six o'clock it's a back
- 20:53Speaker 11: to school night, so we're catering to the children. Catering
- 20:56Speaker 11: to the kids. The city's done an amazing job assembling
- 20:59Speaker 11: a lot lot of cool things for the kids, fun games, resources, supplies, treats.
- 21:06Speaker 11: There might be some backpacks. I'm sure there'll be pens
- 21:09Speaker 11: and pencils and different notebooks and different things for the kids.
- 21:13Speaker 11: A lot of vendors will be down there. It should
- 21:15Speaker 11: be a pretty special night for the family. So moms
- 21:18Speaker 11: and dads, guardians, aunts, uncles, grandparents, bring your children down
- 21:22Speaker 11: and oh, by the way, while you're hanging out down there,
- 21:25Speaker 11: back to school and letting your kids go around to
- 21:27Speaker 11: all these vendors, there's going to be some really cool
- 21:30Speaker 11: music breaking out. About six o'clock. We have Sneezy. I
- 21:32Speaker 11: love the name Sneeze. I haven't seen them yet, but
- 21:34Speaker 11: I've listened to them a little bit. Sneezy will take
- 21:38Speaker 11: center stage right at six o'clock. They do a blend,
- 21:41Speaker 11: they do a little pop, they do a little reggae,
- 21:44Speaker 11: they do a little hip hop, they do a little rock,
- 21:46Speaker 11: and it all comes together with a really groovy vibe
- 21:49Speaker 11: and it's really fun. You dance a little bit to them.
- 21:52Speaker 11: I like to hear them. I haven't seen them live yet,
- 21:54Speaker 11: so they describe it as electrifying infusion. I can't wait
- 21:59Speaker 11: for Sneezy to take center stage. At six o'clock. We'll
- 22:02Speaker 11: do a little break. At seven, we'll thank our vendors,
- 22:04Speaker 11: will throw out some T shirts. East Coast t S
- 22:07Speaker 11: T shirts by the way, and then it's seven crap,
- 22:10Speaker 11: Yeah that.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Steve Z listening animal own an operator by Steve Animals.
- 22:15Speaker 3: I'm throwing that out.
- 22:16Speaker 11: We love him, we love him, we love him, seven thirty.
- 22:19Speaker 11: I have welcomed them and introduced them to the Levee stage.
- 22:22Speaker 11: It might have been eight or nine, it could have
- 22:24Speaker 11: been ten years ago. But they're back and they're big.
- 22:27Speaker 11: They're they've gone national. Owner n a from the town
- 22:31Speaker 11: of They're awesome, I mean alternative rocko. So this is
- 22:35Speaker 11: their last local performance. They're hitting a national tour day
- 22:39Speaker 11: mid August. They're going national in about two weeks, so
- 22:42Speaker 11: this is the last chance to see Umnless. You want
- 22:44Speaker 11: to travel with them and be a groupie as they
- 22:46Speaker 11: head onto the highways and ways of America.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Ahead, own ahead.
- 22:51Speaker 11: They very nicely done, but you know they got this
- 22:53Speaker 11: alternative rock. They're really popular, they're a fan favorite, and
- 22:57Speaker 11: they're going to play for ninety minutes from seven thirty
- 23:00Speaker 11: until nine. We'll do the fifty to fifty drawing right
- 23:03Speaker 11: at nine for our five charities, So please support that
- 23:06Speaker 11: is volunteers walk around selling fifty to fifty tickets. But yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 11: come down on the weather day. It might be the
- 23:13Speaker 11: best one we've had. I'm gonna get I might say
- 23:16Speaker 11: three years, because last year was pretty warm. This year
- 23:19Speaker 11: has been a little muggy and hot and then rainy
- 23:21Speaker 11: and then so tonight, I think seventy eight pay humidity,
- 23:24Speaker 11: I think a little breeze, and again picture perfect evening
- 23:28Speaker 11: to bring the entire family down. One hundred and four
- 23:32Speaker 11: and four, bring the kids down. We're really rolling out
- 23:35Speaker 11: the red carpet for the kidd oh's. The city's done
- 23:37Speaker 11: a great job. The mayor wanted to do this two
- 23:39Speaker 11: or three years ago, and it's been growing ever since.
- 23:43Speaker 11: We did the back to school night. So whether your
- 23:45Speaker 11: student's going to college or preschool, there's gonna be something
- 23:48Speaker 11: down there down Therefore, you stop down, get your bite,
- 23:51Speaker 11: enjoy the food vendors, enjoy all the back to school vendors,
- 23:54Speaker 11: get your spirit of beverage, stay hydrated, lots of pop,
- 23:57Speaker 11: lots of waters down there, whatever you'd like. It's I'm
- 24:01Speaker 11: looking forward to tonight. And just when you thought it
- 24:03Speaker 11: was the last one, I'll be back in three weeks,
- 24:05Speaker 11: three weeks and we'll have one more live on Levy.
- 24:08Speaker 11: But folks, get down there tonight. It's gonna be nice.
- 24:10Speaker 11: It's also the forty fifth anniversary kind of the reunion
- 24:13Speaker 11: for the Charleston High group. There's gonna be lots of
- 24:15Speaker 11: Charleston High Mountain around tonight.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:18Speaker 11: Jimmy small Ridge and his committee put this thing together,
- 24:20Speaker 11: so there's gonna be a lot of of my age
- 24:23Speaker 11: people there. Although my high school union, my forty fifth,
- 24:26Speaker 11: was two years ago. So these folks graduated ton eighty
- 24:29Speaker 11: from Charleston High. There'll be a lot of Charleston High
- 24:32Speaker 11: Mountain lines running around. So we welcome them back to town,
- 24:34Speaker 11: back to your hometown. If you're visiting and listening to this,
- 24:37Speaker 11: we'll see you tonight down there, and we'll see you
- 24:39Speaker 11: tonight down there. Just come down and listen to some
- 24:42Speaker 11: really great music. Sneezy and then Owner you've heard Owner.
- 24:45Speaker 3: You yeah know, IVMC a couple of events, right. I
- 24:48Speaker 3: thought you knew them.
- 24:49Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, you know sneezy.
- 24:50Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 24:52Speaker 11: I just listened to them because I I wanted to
- 24:54Speaker 11: see what they said.
- 24:55Speaker 6: No.
- 24:55Speaker 11: There they bring a cool vibe.
- 24:57Speaker 3: It'll be fun soul FORUL.
- 24:58Speaker 11: I like it.
- 24:59Speaker 3: It'll be I mean it just kind of all the
- 25:01Speaker 3: music that we have down there, whether it's country rock,
- 25:03Speaker 3: whatever's good. But there's just something about that kind of music.
- 25:07Speaker 3: And I haven't heard him with the way you're describing
- 25:08Speaker 3: on a night like tonight, when it's gonna be picture perfect,
- 25:11Speaker 3: maybe drinking hand, soft drinking hand, whatever the case may be.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Just out there, water coming, you know, the wind coming
- 25:16Speaker 3: off the water. I mean, we've earned this with this.
- 25:19Speaker 3: That's a great way to say that we've had with
- 25:23Speaker 3: heat indexes heat ind of seas. That makes you sound
- 25:26Speaker 3: important when you say hint heat indeceased. Heat indosees have
- 25:29Speaker 3: been like well over one hundred, and it seems like
- 25:31Speaker 3: it's one shower and thunderstorm after the other, hail storms
- 25:33Speaker 3: and I don't know, locus petulants, whatever. We've had all
- 25:36Speaker 3: these different things and we're going this is our just reward.
- 25:39Speaker 3: We're gonna have a nice night to night. But the
- 25:41Speaker 3: big story coming out of this again, it ain't over, right,
- 25:46Speaker 3: it ain't over until Jimmy strawn.
- 25:47Speaker 11: Sings Yes, No, we have we had one more. We're
- 25:49Speaker 11: gonna yeah. I can't wait for the Charlie West All Stars.
- 25:51Speaker 11: We talked about him before. I mean Tony's that. You know,
- 25:54Speaker 11: Tony's got a little something to do with that. Shayla
- 25:56Speaker 11: Leffis will be on stage, and you know there's like
- 25:58Speaker 11: ten leven Charleston All Star, Charlie West Ollstars. They're all Stars,
- 26:02Speaker 11: and they've really been working all our summer. So I'm
- 26:04Speaker 11: glad we're giving them an opportunity. I'm glad the city
- 26:07Speaker 11: did this. I'm grateful to the city, and I know
- 26:10Speaker 11: the sponsors and the vendors are as well. And I
- 26:13Speaker 11: look forward to the twenty second, but quite frankly, I
- 26:15Speaker 11: look forward to the night.
- 26:17Speaker 3: I've got a couple of questions here for you, okay.
- 26:19Speaker 3: One says, or the fifty to fifty tickets cash only
- 26:22Speaker 3: to buy because I always forget to stop at the ATM.
- 26:24Speaker 11: They are it's a cash it's cash on hand, it's
- 26:27Speaker 11: cash on hand. But so stee, I stop at the
- 26:28Speaker 11: ATM there's one right across the street at four points
- 26:31Speaker 11: by Sharon. And you know, spend the dollars, spend five,
- 26:33Speaker 11: spend ten, you spend twenty bucks. You get a pretty
- 26:36Speaker 11: big arm length. And we do that drawing right at
- 26:38Speaker 11: nine o'clock now, right as the last note is over.
- 26:42Speaker 11: And again this is so nice. I don't think I've
- 26:44Speaker 11: said on this segment, but the last twenty plus seasons
- 26:47Speaker 11: we've raised about one hundred and twenty seven thousand dollars
- 26:50Speaker 11: for our CCR Covenant House, Sojourner, shelter Man and Meal
- 26:54Speaker 11: and KVC Collective. So that, folks, thank you so much
- 26:58Speaker 11: for your kindness and generosity. That's that's a lot of
- 27:01Speaker 11: money and it helps all the inner city organizations that
- 27:06Speaker 11: help people might need a BikeE eat and maybe a
- 27:09Speaker 11: place to lay their head at night.
- 27:11Speaker 3: So thank you.
- 27:13Speaker 11: I just love that we do this. This was Tom
- 27:14Speaker 11: Lane's vision twenty two years ago. Great fun for a
- 27:18Speaker 11: great cause. It's been the same tagline for twenty two years.
- 27:21Speaker 11: So thanks for that question.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Got another text here for you. This has nothing to
- 27:24Speaker 3: do with Live on the Levee, but we were talking
- 27:26Speaker 3: about the TVT do either of you know what the
- 27:29Speaker 3: everline player who made the winning shot shouted at the
- 27:32Speaker 3: crowd after that looked like he was running his trap
- 27:34Speaker 3: at our people. I saw it on television after, you know,
- 27:38Speaker 3: the e lamnding, and I saw the player and he
- 27:40Speaker 3: was walking and he was running around, and he was
- 27:41Speaker 3: kind of and I'm doing this on radio, kind of
- 27:44Speaker 3: making the gesture like, you know, like to show me
- 27:47Speaker 3: the money kind of thing.
- 27:48Speaker 7: You know.
- 27:49Speaker 3: I didn't think a whole lot about it. Well, but
- 27:51Speaker 3: I wasn't there.
- 27:52Speaker 11: They're young players playing for a million dollars, one million dollars,
- 27:55Speaker 11: and of course their share is going to be sixty
- 27:57Speaker 11: to eighty thousand. That's a lot of money when you're
- 28:00Speaker 11: twenty two, twenty three, twenty four. I hope he was excited,
- 28:04Speaker 11: and whenever an away team beats like the home crowd
- 28:07Speaker 11: we had, we had some pretty we had some pretty
- 28:09Speaker 11: nice electricity in the coliseum last night, and I'm sure
- 28:12Speaker 11: it was just it's a big win for him. He
- 28:15Speaker 11: hit a big three. As soon as the bucket went in.
- 28:18Speaker 3: I walked out. I walked out.
- 28:20Speaker 11: I don't want to see them celebrating on my own court.
- 28:22Speaker 11: So I didn't see his actions, but I did watch
- 28:24Speaker 11: the game. There was a lot of jawing during the game.
- 28:27Speaker 11: It's both sides. Yeah, so that's that's normal. So if
- 28:30Speaker 11: you if you, if you don't like that, you're not
- 28:33Speaker 11: a true fan of the game, because that's just the
- 28:35Speaker 11: game of it.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Par It's just the game. Yeah, all right, Jim, We'll
- 28:38Speaker 3: see you tonight live on the levee.
- 28:39Speaker 11: Thank you, Bud, I see you see six o'clock, sneezy,
- 28:41Speaker 11: seven thirty on. Come down, enjoy, get your bite, get
- 28:45Speaker 11: your drink, enjoy, Say hi to me and we'll see tonight.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Guys.
- 28:47Speaker 11: Thanks to you here in a couple of weeks. Three
- 28:49Speaker 11: weeks brother, thanks man.

- 36:05Speaker 3: bailiff with the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department accused of sexually
- 36:08Speaker 3: assaulting a female inmate at the Judicial Building. His name
- 36:11Speaker 3: is cast Close, fifty four and he's from quick. He
- 36:14Speaker 3: was arraigned yesterday morning on the charges of imposition of
- 36:17Speaker 3: sexual acts on persons incarcerated, detained or under supervision. Sheriff
- 36:22Speaker 3: Joe Crawford said the Close was fired and then arrested
- 36:25Speaker 3: by state police. State police will be the ones handling
- 36:27Speaker 3: the investigation, although there will be an internal investigation by
- 36:30Speaker 3: the Sheriff's department as well. The alleged events happening on Tuesday,
- 36:34Speaker 3: the victims saying the assault happened while she was waiting
- 36:37Speaker 3: for a court hearing. She says the bailiff made sexual
- 36:40Speaker 3: comments to her and took her into a holding cell
- 36:43Speaker 3: in his office, and that he forced her to perform
- 36:46Speaker 3: sexual acts. He's also accused of photographing the thing. Sheriff Crawford,

- 37:00Speaker 3: His bond set at one hundred thousand dollars. And when
- 37:03Speaker 3: the folks can talk about that. Of course, we've reached
- 37:06Speaker 3: out to all those folks I mentioned earlier, and obviously
- 37:09Speaker 3: they're being pretty tight lipped about it right now. They
- 37:11Speaker 3: can't speak about it, which is completely understandable. We'll have
- 37:13Speaker 3: that information once it becomes available and when we could

- 37:45Speaker 3: I got to ask you last time that we had
- 37:47Speaker 3: you'd studio, you were on Metro News midday and you
- 37:48Speaker 3: had a couple of your lovely family members in here
- 37:51Speaker 3: with you. Have they everybody had a good summer?
- 37:53Speaker 16: Yeah, they've had a great summer. We've been to Louisiana
- 37:55Speaker 16: a couple of times. The girls are going back this
- 37:58Speaker 16: next week, so you know, schools about to start so summer.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Are they all excited about school?
- 38:03Speaker 12: Yeah?
- 38:04Speaker 16: They are, you know, get back with their friends and
- 38:05Speaker 16: everything like that.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Get away from parents. Yes. Are you okay with them
- 38:09Speaker 3: going back to school? For sure?
- 38:11Speaker 2: Yes?
- 38:11Speaker 3: Absolutely, it's time to go back. Get all right. Speaking
- 38:15Speaker 3: of Witcher's a couple of things I want to talk
- 38:16Speaker 3: to you about. The sales tax holiday kicks off today.
- 38:19Speaker 3: Uh and this is in I think it's in code,
- 38:21Speaker 3: and the governor, of course, may make it a pretty big
- 38:24Speaker 3: deal about it. TJ writes about his commentary today. Here's
- 38:27Speaker 3: overall thoughts of the sales tax holiday.
- 38:29Speaker 16: It's a good I mean, I wish it could be
- 38:30Speaker 16: a little bit longer to give parents and families a
- 38:32Speaker 16: little bit more time to get out there and get
- 38:34Speaker 16: the supplies and everything in the Uh. I want to
- 38:37Speaker 16: thank Delegate Minority Leader Sean Hornbuckle for uh in the
- 38:41Speaker 16: late Duck scaff for getting that codified through an amendment. So, yeah,
- 38:45Speaker 16: it's a great thing.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's kicks off I think today. I believe so.
- 38:51Speaker 16: And specifically I know there's like a liminal clothes and uh,
- 38:55Speaker 16: electronics and school supplies and different things of that nature.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:58Speaker 5: Uh.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Can we're talking with Delegate Hog this past weekend. I
- 39:02Speaker 3: think it was you were part of a big dedication
- 39:04Speaker 3: here in Kodolva. Telling me about this dedication and about
- 39:08Speaker 3: the guy that was honored.
- 39:08Speaker 16: Well, we had a bridge naming ceremonies. Resident House Resolution
- 39:12Speaker 16: thirty one, myself and Delegate Hall Walter Hall sponsored from
- 39:17Speaker 16: Saint Albans And you know, it was to honor Colonel
- 39:20Speaker 16: Q as he was affectionately known. He was a Vietnam
- 39:22Speaker 16: War veteran. I think he did two tours over there,
- 39:25Speaker 16: Purple Heart, numerous other awards. He came to West Virginia
- 39:29Speaker 16: by way of Florida to teach at the ROTC program
- 39:32Speaker 16: at West Virginia State University. And if you know anything
- 39:35Speaker 16: about the ROTC program at West Virginia State University, it's historic.
- 39:39Speaker 16: A lot of generals and high ranking personnel have come
- 39:43Speaker 16: out of there. And in addition, he worked specifically with
- 39:47Speaker 16: juveniles in the community, worked with West Virginia State football team,
- 39:51Speaker 16: was our chaplain and photographer, manager, coach, all those different things.
- 39:54Speaker 16: And it's just a community guide all levels. A person
- 39:58Speaker 16: who really strived to bring people together.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Yeah and uh. And I got opportunity to know him
- 40:02Speaker 3: a couple of years ago through some things he did
- 40:03Speaker 3: with Rotary Club.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Yep.
- 40:05Speaker 11: Uh.
- 40:05Speaker 3: And I had a chance to when I was in Rotary,
- 40:08Speaker 3: I had a chance to visit he was very involved
- 40:10Speaker 3: in that. I had a chance to visit their chapter,
- 40:11Speaker 3: which I think he was in the St. Albans chapter
- 40:14Speaker 3: met him through actually through Delicate Wall Hall. Yeah, as
- 40:16Speaker 3: you mentioned, he was a great He's a great gentleman.
- 40:20Speaker 16: Very very very good gentleman. Like I said, he was
- 40:22Speaker 16: a mentor to our youth. He was on the West
- 40:24Speaker 16: Virginia State Parole war He worked in juvenile services at
- 40:27Speaker 16: the state level.
- 40:27Speaker 3: I mean, what didn't he do thing?
- 40:29Speaker 16: What didn't he do? But I think his heart was
- 40:31Speaker 16: really for kids. He even coached Pop Warner team won
- 40:36Speaker 16: a national championship there. So it was he was really
- 40:39Speaker 16: just an overall great person and anybody who knew him,
- 40:43Speaker 16: like I said, he was a father and uncle, brother,
- 40:45Speaker 16: a mentor. He was that affectionate, you know, once you
- 40:48Speaker 16: got to know him.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Talk about the importance of when we have these because sometimes,
- 40:53Speaker 3: you know, you dedicate a bridge or a building to somebody,
- 40:56Speaker 3: and after a while you have the big ceremony and
- 40:59Speaker 3: you cut the ribbon and everybody has cake and everything,
- 41:01Speaker 3: and then they and then and then it just becomes
- 41:04Speaker 3: we're okay, well we just drive across this bridge, or
- 41:06Speaker 3: we just are we just drive down this this street
- 41:08Speaker 3: or whatever. Talk about the importance of letting people know
- 41:12Speaker 3: no matter who it is, why this man or woman
- 41:15Speaker 3: was important to the community.
- 41:16Speaker 16: Well, I think his daughter stated it best that you know,
- 41:18Speaker 16: small act of kindness and services can lead up to,
- 41:22Speaker 16: you know, what what happened last week. As far as
- 41:25Speaker 16: the bridge naming ceremony, and you know, I think it's
- 41:28Speaker 16: also important to that we honor those who fought for
- 41:32Speaker 16: our country, you know, like I said, he was a
- 41:36Speaker 16: Vietnam War vet, did multiple tours, purple hearts, all these
- 41:40Speaker 16: different honors, so I think that was permanent. And in addition,
- 41:44Speaker 16: even in his death, within this bridge naming ceremony, we
- 41:47Speaker 16: see so much political strife. Where we had two individuals
- 41:50Speaker 16: from you know, different sides of the hour, we're able
- 41:54Speaker 16: to come together and actually do this. So I think
- 41:57Speaker 16: that far as just being a display, was actually great.
- 42:00Speaker 3: And I like that. And Walt Hall is a good
- 42:02Speaker 3: friend of mine, has been for years. He's been on
- 42:04Speaker 3: the show numerous times. I know he's also a good
- 42:05Speaker 3: friend of yours. And I love that because in the
- 42:08Speaker 3: in the news headlines, you know, we always hear about
- 42:11Speaker 3: the strife, as you said, and the beef and so on.
- 42:14Speaker 3: So and it happens nationwide, it happens you're locally too,
- 42:16Speaker 3: But the fact that two individuals came together and it's
- 42:19Speaker 3: not about politics, it's about honoring a great.
- 42:21Speaker 16: Man exactly, And I think that, you know, and again
- 42:24Speaker 16: I just haven't seen too much of that, you know,
- 42:27Speaker 16: whether it's locally or nationally. So I think that was
- 42:30Speaker 16: just on its face, just very good for this the
- 42:32Speaker 16: public to see that, hey man, we're gonna come together,
- 42:35Speaker 16: and the individual, a citizen who, like I said, worked
- 42:38Speaker 16: it in the community at all levels even in his death,
- 42:42Speaker 16: was able to do this.

- 43:05Speaker 16: I think that's kind of been short of the on
- 43:07Speaker 16: the tip of everybody's tongue and everybody's wondering about that.
- 43:10Speaker 16: So I thought that what maybe happen sort of midsummer,
- 43:13Speaker 16: So we'll see if that's something that's going to be
- 43:16Speaker 16: happening as far as going back into the school, so
- 43:18Speaker 16: we can address some things that are looming far as
- 43:22Speaker 16: pi A and obviously what's going to happen with medicaid.
- 43:25Speaker 16: So we got some issues that need to be worked out.
- 43:27Speaker 16: That's probably is going to take a little bit longer
- 43:29Speaker 16: than a regular session.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and the thing about the special sessions, I mean,
- 43:34Speaker 3: you don't and we talked about this on the Shaw
- 43:35Speaker 3: on Metro Is Midday yesterday. You don't just go in
- 43:37Speaker 3: and say, okay, we're going to fix this. You got
- 43:38Speaker 3: to have a game plan because you don't want to
- 43:40Speaker 3: waste taxpayer's money exactly.
- 43:42Speaker 16: And I think, like I said, we have a lot
- 43:44Speaker 16: of things, you know, whether it's like I said, PIA, medicaid,
- 43:47Speaker 16: flood resiliency, it's a lot of things that need to

- 46:58Speaker 3: may have heard me talking about this on the show
- 47:00Speaker 3: earlier this week, the number of people that are millionaires
- 47:04Speaker 3: now in America. John Burdette, who you hear every Monday
- 47:08Speaker 3: on retire Right Radio, is going to join me to
- 47:10Speaker 3: talk about that political commentator Mark Curtis. He retired from
- 47:15Speaker 3: WWK and the next to our family of stations and
- 47:17Speaker 3: Inside West Virginia Politics, but worst retirement ever because he
- 47:21Speaker 3: still writes a weekly political column, generally speaking on national issues,
- 47:25Speaker 3: but he keeps an eye on what's going on in
- 47:27Speaker 3: West Virginia even though he doesn't live here anymore. He's
- 47:30Speaker 3: soaking up the raised in Florida right now. Well deserved retirement,
- 47:33Speaker 3: but he still writes his column and he joins us

- 47:39Speaker 3: with him. Also, every Friday, we introduce you to another

- 47:59Speaker 3: By the way, that email address for that show is

- 48:04Speaker 3: Of course, Open Line West Virginia coming up as well.
- 48:06Speaker 3: It's all on Mentro News Midday powered by Selangel Law
- 48:09Speaker 3: with thirteen News and Tonight Live anchor Manda Baron and
- 48:11Speaker 3: Me coming up at noon today on this show. On Monday,
- 48:14Speaker 3: the local show, Charleston Mayor Amy Schuler Goodwin will join us.
- 48:17Speaker 3: G Money from our sister station one O seven three
- 48:20Speaker 3: The Beats will join us to talk about the upcoming
- 48:22Speaker 3: Salvation Army golf tournament and about the Beats backpack Attack
- 48:26Speaker 3: which is happening on our parking lot here next Wednesday,
- 48:28Speaker 3: eleven eleven Virginia Street East in Charleston. It's the I
- 48:32Speaker 3: think the eighteenth annual backpack Attack lineup is at three
- 48:36Speaker 3: next Wednesday. We'll start handing them out at four o'clock.
- 48:39Speaker 3: So it's kind of the brain child of Woody Woods
- 48:41Speaker 3: and G Money. GM Money will join us on the
- 48:43Speaker 3: show to talk about it. Coming up on Monday, Texas
- 48:47Speaker 3: David's Fun Friday, and it's hilarious watching Trump's caddy move
- 48:51Speaker 3: his ball to a better spot. Because Trump is such
- 48:53Speaker 3: a terrible golfer. It seems like a metaphor for what
- 48:56Speaker 3: the GOP is doing for Trump, carrying his weight and
- 48:59Speaker 3: helping him succeed as he falls because or fails rather
- 49:02Speaker 3: because of an aptitude. I just you know, we have
- 49:04Speaker 3: a TV in the studio and it's kind of on
- 49:07Speaker 3: just in case there's breaking news or whatever. And I
- 49:10Speaker 3: just happened to glance up at the TV as I
- 49:13Speaker 3: was beginning the show, and President Trump was having a
- 49:17Speaker 3: press conference, And again obviously it's on mute, so I
- 49:19Speaker 3: don't know exactly what they were talking about. But Triple
- 49:21Speaker 3: H was at the sports entertainer. You know that, I
- 49:25Speaker 3: didn't call him a wrestler, the sports entertainer from WWE,
- 49:28Speaker 3: and I guess he's like the president of the company
- 49:30Speaker 3: now was there with him, and I don't know exactly
- 49:32Speaker 3: what they were talking about, but we had Triple H
- 49:35Speaker 3: with him. Deck said, did everyone see that Paton McAfee
- 49:39Speaker 3: wants College Game Day in Morgantown for the backyard Brawl
- 49:42Speaker 3: this season? Even country star Luke Comb sees that. In
- 49:45Speaker 3: a video Barstools Sports posted on x ask which rivalry
- 49:49Speaker 3: is the most underrated in college football? Combs said to me,
- 49:52Speaker 3: it's the backyard Brawl West Virginia and Pitt. I know
- 49:57Speaker 3: that people that are in the West Virginia pit rivalry
- 49:59Speaker 3: are gonna be like, how that underrated? I think it's
- 50:01Speaker 3: entirely in the country. Super underrated rivalry, says a texture
- 50:06Speaker 3: the complaints, says texture was about billionaires, not millionaires. No,
- 50:11Speaker 3: I was referring to appreciate the text. I was referring
- 50:14Speaker 3: to a article that came out reported by the Associated
- 50:17Speaker 3: Press this week that more and more people are becoming
- 50:20Speaker 3: millionaires in America and the biggest segment of those are
- 50:23Speaker 3: forty and under. So those who say, well, it's different,
- 50:25Speaker 3: young people can't do well, not necessarily, it's forty and under.
- 50:28Speaker 3: It's the fastest growing class of millionaires, not billionaires. One
- 50:32Speaker 3: in ten people in America are millionaires now. And again
- 50:35Speaker 3: that doesn't mean necessarily just money in the bank, all right.
- 50:38Speaker 3: So TJ. Meadows joins us now, who's always always ready
- 50:44Speaker 3: to talk about money and things like that. Why we
- 50:46Speaker 3: got to be hating on people for doing well, having
- 50:48Speaker 3: a good number, Because there's a war on success in
- 50:50Speaker 3: this country and there has been.
- 50:51Speaker 2: For some time.
- 50:51Speaker 3: So I will say this.
- 50:52Speaker 10: You know, I was born in nineteen eighty. A million
- 50:55Speaker 10: bucks in nineteen eighty is far different from a million
- 50:57Speaker 10: dollars today. Indeed, you need about four point one five
- 51:00Speaker 10: million dollars based on inflation to have the same buying power.
- 51:03Speaker 10: With that said, having a million dollar net worth even
- 51:09Speaker 10: today you're in pretty good shape relatively speaking compared to
- 51:12Speaker 10: the rest of America, and you can do it. It's
- 51:15Speaker 10: like looking at the guy or gal who go to
- 51:17Speaker 10: the gym all the time. Oh man, you know, I
- 51:19Speaker 10: hate that guy, Bubble.
- 51:21Speaker 3: They're willing to put in the work. That's the way
- 51:23Speaker 3: they That's why they looked at as people like me
- 51:25Speaker 3: set there with a quarter pound are going. Man, I
- 51:26Speaker 3: can't stand that guy.
- 51:27Speaker 14: I know.
- 51:28Speaker 10: So you know what it's it's not too difficult find
- 51:32Speaker 10: a job you're good at. Most people are work hard,
- 51:34Speaker 10: live below your means. It's not that hard to do
- 51:36Speaker 10: if you're willing to do it. Most people aren't willing
- 51:38Speaker 10: to put in the work. Well, then stop, I don't
- 51:40Speaker 10: complaining complaining because I be glad you got some of
- 51:43Speaker 10: those people, because if you didn't imagine the mess we
- 51:46Speaker 10: would be in with Social Security and everything else. Look America,
- 51:49Speaker 10: the baby boomers, they are entirely unready for retirement. People
- 51:53Speaker 10: can't take care of themselves. That's why we have all
- 51:55Speaker 10: these entitlement programs. Suck it up, Buttercup.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Wow, all right, all right, Well, Bernie Sanders is gonna
- 52:03Speaker 3: come to West Virginia. He's coming to Wheeling, Charleston and
- 52:06Speaker 3: Lenore in Mingo County. Move go ahead and say this
- 52:09Speaker 3: right now. He's not going to get a warm reception
- 52:11Speaker 3: when he goes to Mingo County. I'm just telling you
- 52:13Speaker 3: the Trump boys and the girls are going to be
- 52:15Speaker 3: out there. Give me fifteen twenty seconds. What's on the
- 52:17Speaker 3: big show today?
- 52:18Speaker 10: Eric Nelson kicks us off revenue numbers first month of
- 52:22Speaker 10: the fiscal year. Out Chris steyer Wald at eleven o'clock
- 52:24Speaker 10: eleven thirty at Steam Release.
- 52:26Speaker 3: Baby, I might get into rich Rod too. He says
- 52:28Speaker 3: we're soft, and he's right. He's absolutely right. I reposted
- 52:31Speaker 3: what he said on my social media. We are soft,
- 52:34Speaker 3: says the guy that eats a quarter pound. All right,
- 52:37Speaker 3: all right, I'll see you later today. I'll Metro News
- 52:39Speaker 3: Midday with Amanda Baron, thirteen News to NightLive anchor Vanda
- 52:42Speaker 3: Baron and me coming up at noon. Until then, have
- 52:43Speaker 3: fun and love somebody.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Sea. Yeah, give you two d r F M Charlestown,
- 53:01Speaker 2: W two A three HQ Cross Lanes at WVRC Media Station.
