I've been saying them all week. Lucas: That's awesome. Today we're adding two more: skirt and jacket. In Malay, skirt is 'rok'. Try it with me: rok. Luna: Rok. That's short and sweet! Lucas: Exactly. 'Rok.' And jacket is 'jaket'. Say it with me: jaket. Luna: Jaket. Sounds like 'jacket' but with a 'k'. Lucas: Yeah, close enough. Now, to say 'I wear a skirt', you say 'Saya pakai rok.' Let's break it down. Luna: Saya pakai... rok. Saya pakai rok. Lucas: Perfect! And 'I wear a jacket' is 'Saya pakai jaket.' You try. Luna: Saya pakai jaket. Got it. Lucas: Nice. Now, let's add colors. Remember blue is 'biru' and black is 'hitam'? So 'rok biru' is a blue skirt. Luna: Rok biru. That sounds pretty. Lucas: And 'jaket hitam' is a black jacket. Luna: Jaket hitam. Very sleek. Lucas: Okay, imagine you're going out. You're wearing a blue skirt. How would you say that? Luna: Uhh... Saya pakai rok biru. Lucas: Yes! You said it. And if you're also wearing a black jacket? Luna: Saya pakai rok biru dan jaket hitam. Lucas: Wow, using 'dan' for 'and'! That's great. Luna: Thanks. I remember from before. Lucas: Let's do a quick practice. I'll say the English, you say the Malay. 'Skirt.' Luna: Rok. Lucas: 'Jacket.' Luna: Jaket. Lucas: 'I wear a skirt.' Luna: Saya pakai rok. Lucas: 'I wear a jacket.' Luna: Saya pakai jaket. Lucas: 'Blue skirt.' Luna: Rok biru. Lucas: 'Black jacket.' Luna: Jaket hitam. Lucas: You're nailing this! So, what are you wearing today, Luna? Luna: Hmm... Saya pakai baju merah dan seluar biru. No rok or jaket today. Lucas: Nice! Red shirt and blue pants. That's a good outfit. Luna: Thanks. But I might wear a jaket later if it gets cold. Lucas: Smart.
