Transcript
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to Ag Squawk AM.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here, live from Gill, Colorado.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Today we're going to be talking about the good to excellent corn throughout the country.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: We're going to also chat just a bit about the cattle weight cycle.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: And Trump and G are meeting, and what are they going to talk about with regards to AI?
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: We'll get to all of that and more here in a bit.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Feeder cattle are down about two and a quarter at 328, about even.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Lean Hog saw a boost, though.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: They were at$79.28 up a dollar and thirteen.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: As I quote the grain market here live, like to shout out our sponsor, plus$500.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: We use plus$500 T4 trading software to quote the markets every single day.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: And as I look here, November soybeans, they're at$13.19 and a quarter, coming down just a little bit overnight.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Corn December, they're at$5.32 even.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: And Chicago, December wheat bouncing this morning.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: They're at 7 14 and a quarter.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: On to the weather discussion for today.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: The Southern Plains has shifted west.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: The Southern Plains rain has shifted west and stepped down from earlier expectations.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Central and eastern Kansas and most of Oklahoma stay dry throughout the weekend.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: The Eastern Corn Belt harvest window is intact and clean, though.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Illinois through Ohio stays essentially dry with near-normal highs, no frost risk for five straight open days.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: That'll be great to see.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: And this was the grain market discussion that caught my eye this morning as I was clicking through some new charts that I have access to, which I think are pretty dang exciting.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: But this is the good to excellent corn throughout the country.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And as you can see, the pattern of weather tells the story.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: The things that we've been talking about, Nag Squawk, AM, the dry areas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska, up into the Dakotas, especially North Dakota up there, where Tommy's area of expertise is, it has been dry.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: But in the rest of the Corn Belt, if you know anything about it, is you know that it's been exceptionally wet throughout this year.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Illinois had more major weather events than any other state, and it shows an effect on this crop condition.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: The cattle cycle, I think something I'd talk about real quick.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: As you can see, year over year it fluctuates back up and down, back up and down, and we've been trending higher towards kind of the top end of what these cattle can weigh when we send them to town, and we're kind of in that valley right now.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: But it will be interesting to watch how this progresses as we move farther into you know the end of 2026 into 2027, if we continue to trend upward or if we plateau, because at some point the physical skeletal limitations of these cattle will be met.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Mike Sands and I are going to talk more about cattle and everything there, about all of the things from the the Cattle on Feed Report on our Fat Tuesday show.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Really looking forward to getting together with Mike and catching up with him.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: On the outside market discussion, it's very clear that I mean about the top ten headlines on my news feed this morning were all about Trump and G's summit.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: This one said Trump and G's summit puts AI safety talks on the table, but neither side wants to slow down.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Trump and G are likely to discuss AI safety amid fears of over increasingly capability of autonomous models.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: US and Chinese officials have floated an AI dialogue for national security-related incidents.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: Export controls on advanced NVIDIA trips and claims of AI distillation remain major sticking points.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: It'll be interesting to see how this progresses with regards to world leaders over the next couple years, because national safety is a concern with something that can think for itself and protecting our data and information.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: On the economic calendar for today, the MBA mortgage applications comes out here at 6 or already came out, excuse me, at 6 a.m.

- 4:35SPEAKER_00: The SP Global PMI comes out at 8 45 a.m.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: The EIA energy stocks at 9 30 a.m.
