- 0:06Speaker 1: Hello, gorgeous, welcome to give them la la. I've been
- 0:10Speaker 1: hanging out with Heather McDonald's.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I was gonna say, I could tell that was way
- 0:14Speaker 2: more Heather McDonald's.
- 0:15Speaker 1: And every time I see her, I go, it's juice scoop.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I plug her podcast so much on this I wish
- 0:24Speaker 1: you would plug mine. She has way more listeners.
- 0:27Speaker 2: You hear that, Heather.
- 0:29Speaker 1: No, anyway, Okay, I have I have a funny story. Okay,
- 0:35Speaker 1: before we get the podcast pop in, or is this
- 0:38Speaker 1: story gonna get the podcast pop in? This story may
- 0:41Speaker 1: make you sick, Okay, before we get the podcast pop in.
- 0:46Speaker 1: So the other night, I decide to take the dogs
- 0:51Speaker 1: and Ocean to go get a pizza. Right, we walk there,
- 0:56Speaker 1: we eat there on the way back, and we're there
- 0:59Speaker 1: for like forty five minutes. Right and as we're like
- 1:02Speaker 1: maneuvering through the joint, the pizza joint, like my mom's
- 1:05Speaker 1: holding the dogs, they're getting like all tangled up. It's
- 1:08Speaker 1: just like it's starting to turn into a hot mess. Okay,
- 1:11Speaker 1: Like my mom's running into people trying to get the
- 1:14Speaker 1: dogs untangled. I'm like hitting curves with Ocean's freaking stroller.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Like where it's just like time to get home. Okay.
- 1:23Speaker 1: We are walking down the street and all of the
- 1:26Speaker 1: sudden and met the strollers behind Lily, and Lily just
- 1:30Speaker 1: starts projectile shitting all over the sidewalk, right where the
- 1:36Speaker 1: bus stop is. Thank god, no one's there. But I
- 1:40Speaker 1: tell my mom. I'm like, Mom, stop. She's kind of
- 1:44Speaker 1: dragging Lily like not realizing okay, And I look at
- 1:49Speaker 1: her and I'm like, and I have a milkshake in
- 1:51Speaker 1: my hand, and I was like, I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 1:54Speaker 1: be sick. So I park Ocean as safely as I
- 1:59Speaker 1: can to. Immediately, I just start vomiting all over my.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Shold you actually got sick.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I got very sick coming through my nose. What it
- 2:10Speaker 1: made me ill?
- 2:12Speaker 2: So the hurt Lily shitting made you vomit. So now
- 2:15Speaker 2: Lily shitting and your vomiting.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Lily shitting, I'm vomiting. My mom realizes she has one
- 2:20Speaker 1: poop bag. She My Mom's going through the trash with
- 2:23Speaker 1: her bare hands, trying to find something to like clean
- 2:27Speaker 1: up the rest of the mess or cover it up,
- 2:31Speaker 1: and Ocean is just staring me dead in my eyes, like, Mom,
- 2:38Speaker 1: what's going on? It was not. I mean, I wish
- 2:43Speaker 1: there would have been a camera.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, what would you have done
- 2:47Speaker 2: if see I feel like you though, if paparazzi or
- 2:50Speaker 2: honestly anyone. I was gonna say, if anyone caught that,
- 2:53Speaker 2: you would have you would have posted it?
- 2:56Speaker 1: Of course I would have. It was a very proud
- 2:58Speaker 1: moment for me. But Mom's going through.
- 3:01Speaker 2: The garbage to get what wait, oh, because she'll anything,
- 3:05Speaker 2: We'll want one, oh, and she was, Yes.
- 3:08Speaker 1: We were concerned. You know, people arriving to get on
- 3:11Speaker 1: the bus. There's vomit on one like by the bench,
- 3:15Speaker 1: and then there's shit right there. It was repulsive and hilarious,
- 3:20Speaker 1: all wrapped into a big shit though.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Do you know what that reminds me of the scene
- 3:25Speaker 2: kind of it's the same energy as the scene in
- 3:27Speaker 2: Bridesmaids where they're all shitting in the back, sally what it.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Was, exactly what it was, and vomiting that. Yes, I know,
- 3:36Speaker 1: it's all so gross. I'm so sorry you guys. I
- 3:38Speaker 1: had to share it with you though. That's and then
- 3:41Speaker 1: that night my mom is watching TV and a trailer
- 3:47Speaker 1: for a movie pops up and she goes, oh, my gosh,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I've been wanting to see this. It's with Doosel Dwarf
- 3:53Speaker 1: from Harry Potter, and I go like, double door.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Doul Dwarf, Doosel Dwarfs.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I love it, just like a really sweet night girl time,
- 4:07Speaker 1: just filled with I mean, I thought it was hysterical.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So anyway that happened, I'm sorry for anybody who has
- 4:12Speaker 1: a weak stomach. Clearly I do.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and yeah, that's funny. That should have been listen.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I'm glad I wasn't captured on camera, but if it was, yeah,
- 4:23Speaker 2: that would have been pretty iconic.
- 4:24Speaker 1: It would have been iconic. So what's happened since last
- 4:28Speaker 1: week's episode is I obviously did hear the slap heard
- 4:32Speaker 1: around the world.
- 4:34Speaker 2: You heard about it more I watched it. Oh yes,
- 4:38Speaker 2: I had heard about it.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Okay, when when we did the podcast last week, I
- 4:42Speaker 1: still hadn't seen it. Now I've seen it, and I
- 4:46Speaker 1: feel like when I'm the next question I'm going to
- 4:50Speaker 1: ask when like I go on a date is like
- 4:55Speaker 1: what side are you on? Will or Chris? Yes? Because
- 5:01Speaker 1: I follow a lot, Will not follow, But like my
- 5:04Speaker 1: Explore page is very all over the place, like it's
- 5:08Speaker 1: just there's like puppies. Then there's like praise Jesus. Then
- 5:12Speaker 1: there's like, oh my gosh, remember Tupac's song back and
- 5:15Speaker 1: blah blah blah.
- 5:15Speaker 2: So you fall off.
- 5:17Speaker 1: There's like a supermodel. So my explore page is full
- 5:20Speaker 1: of like all different kinds of stuff. And when I
- 5:22Speaker 1: was on my explore page, I was seeing that there
- 5:25Speaker 1: were a lot of people that were condoning Will Smith
- 5:28Speaker 1: smacking Chris Rock and that shocked me, okay, because I
- 5:36Speaker 1: just don't feel like you can put your hands on people.
- 5:39Speaker 1: There was one comment that was like, so what now
- 5:44Speaker 1: when someone says something, you're not allowed to smack them
- 5:48Speaker 1: and put.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Them in check.
- 5:48Speaker 1: And I was like, that's not just like now, this
- 5:51Speaker 1: is how it's always been, Like what do you mean? Like, no,
- 5:54Speaker 1: you can fight words with other words, and if you're
- 5:57Speaker 1: not good at that, then I suggest you go get
- 6:00Speaker 1: good at it because you cannot touch somebody.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and stand up comedians. I saw a few, which
- 6:07Speaker 2: I'm sure you did, who said oh great, now I'm
- 6:10Speaker 2: gonna that opens it up for I'm at my comedy show.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I make a joke that might be offensive and someone
- 6:16Speaker 2: can come up and slap me in the face if
- 6:18Speaker 2: they're offended by it.
- 6:19Speaker 1: No, like what I know, I don't I don't like it.
- 6:22Speaker 1: So that's like, and by the way, I'm okay with
- 6:26Speaker 1: the answer Chris Rock maybe shouldn't be making jokes like that.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Whether he wrote the joke, whether it was ad libbed,
- 6:33Speaker 1: whoever's fault it was, doesn't matter, Like shouldn't have been done.
- 6:37Speaker 1: But like on the flip side, you can't put your
- 6:39Speaker 1: hands on people, like this is not a complicated we
- 6:43Speaker 1: need to deep dive into the details. Like no, you
- 6:46Speaker 1: can't fucking hit anybody. There's like there's no gray area.
- 6:51Speaker 1: That to me is so frustrating, And.
- 6:53Speaker 2: There are like I hate I usually hate when people
- 6:56Speaker 2: say this, but it's true. There's like families watching the
- 6:58Speaker 2: Oscars and little kids and that's like not the greatest
- 7:02Speaker 2: thing to a lot.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Of kids that look up to Will Smith. Yeah ano,
- 7:05Speaker 1: they're seeing him smack the shit out of people. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:09Speaker 1: not cool.
- 7:10Speaker 3: I know.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Wait, I'm gonna quickly go back to so you said
- 7:13Speaker 2: your Explore page on Instagram because it was a couple
- 7:16Speaker 2: months ago, or you said on the podcast you are
- 7:21Speaker 2: you curate your Explore page to be just animals?
- 7:24Speaker 1: So have you fallen off doing that. I always fall
- 7:27Speaker 1: off too, I always fall off. I see one picture
- 7:32Speaker 1: of Kim Kay's ass and I come into a fucking
- 7:35Speaker 1: deep dive. Okay, okay, okay, you know. Yeah, I type
- 7:41Speaker 1: in Kylie Jenner to my you know, search bar, and
- 7:45Speaker 1: then I'm fucked. That's so true.
- 7:48Speaker 2: It's so sensitive.
- 7:50Speaker 1: It's so sensitive. Yeah. So, but there's a lot of
- 7:54Speaker 1: on my Explore page about like God in narcissists right now?
- 8:00Speaker 1: Oh no, And I may or may not have read
- 8:03Speaker 1: some inspirational quote the other day. Yeah, the other day
- 8:05Speaker 1: meaning last night. That was like all about like God's
- 8:09Speaker 1: timing and whatever, and they're like, if you believe in this, right, amen?
- 8:14Speaker 1: And I like went into that.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I was like, amen, you made a rogue a comment,
- 8:20Speaker 2: you guys. Rogue comments are so hilarious and wild to me.
- 8:24Speaker 2: When I'm just scrolling through innocently a random page and
- 8:27Speaker 2: i see someone I know or follow make a comment,
- 8:30Speaker 2: I'm like, yes, girl or guy, not to anyone. They
- 8:33Speaker 2: don't tag anyone. They're just like, I want you to
- 8:36Speaker 2: know I saw this, Amen, Lala a rogue comment. Kyle
- 8:40Speaker 2: has done it before, and I'm like, what the hell
- 8:43Speaker 2: I mean?
- 8:43Speaker 4: Humiliate?
- 8:44Speaker 2: I call him out all the time, like what the
- 8:45Speaker 2: hell is this?
- 8:47Speaker 1: What are you doing? It's hilarious, I know, But what's
- 8:51Speaker 1: more hilarious the fact that you're looking, like how are
- 8:53Speaker 1: you coming in us? What you said? He's like, what
- 8:56Speaker 1: are you scrolling? What do you Why are you just
- 8:58Speaker 1: looking at random comments?
- 8:59Speaker 2: And I'm like, why are you making random comments?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Because we're proud.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I love the amen though. I think Kyle's last comment
- 9:06Speaker 2: was like it was like on a meme page and
- 9:08Speaker 2: it was about women and like girls, it was funny.
- 9:11Speaker 2: And then his comment was like cause we're sick and
- 9:13Speaker 2: tired of your shit, and I'm like, what the hell
- 9:15Speaker 2: is this?
- 9:16Speaker 1: And he was like it's funny. I thought it was
- 9:17Speaker 1: a funny joke. This is hilarious.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Amen is a good Roague comment.
- 9:22Speaker 1: They said, if you believe in this, write amen. So
- 9:26Speaker 1: I just followed the instructions and by the way, I
- 9:31Speaker 1: was reading the other comments and I'm like, no, they
- 9:34Speaker 1: told you, if you agree, you write amen.
- 9:37Speaker 2: That's very face.
- 9:38Speaker 1: They write a heart, Yeah, posted an emoji heart. They
- 9:40Speaker 1: didn't say comment your thoughts. Yeah, you just write amen
- 9:45Speaker 1: if you agree? You guys, that's.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Very Grandma Facebook energy of like share this or seven
- 9:50Speaker 2: people will die. And then I see on my grandma's
- 9:52Speaker 2: wallet's share share this if you believe in Jesus Christ,
- 9:55Speaker 2: since she shares it, and I'm like, Graham, you don't
- 9:57Speaker 2: actually have to me, but I love it.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Because no one will believe that you believe in Jesus
- 10:04Speaker 1: Christ if you don't, if you don't.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Share or common amen or amen amen. So on that note,
- 10:11Speaker 2: besides making Roague comments, how has it? How is your weekend?
- 10:16Speaker 1: Would you do? This weekend? Was really fun? When you
- 10:18Speaker 1: even do?
- 10:18Speaker 2: Oh?
- 10:19Speaker 1: I played with the gusbands fun naturally. Okay, we did
- 10:22Speaker 1: a hike, we got centered. I watched a lot of
- 10:26Speaker 1: Real Housewives of Orange County. Okay, it was like a
- 10:31Speaker 1: It was like a mental health weekend.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I love a mental health weekend. Wait, Real Housewives? Did
- 10:36Speaker 2: you see the Dubai trailer?
- 10:39Speaker 1: The Dubai trailer gave me all the life in.
- 10:42Speaker 2: The world chills, and I'm like, you know me, I
- 10:45Speaker 2: try and keep up with housewives, but it's hard for me.
- 10:47Speaker 2: And I saw that in like the sand, and I
- 10:49Speaker 2: was like, oh no, oh, my gosh, I have.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Like chills all over my body. And that's going to
- 10:55Speaker 1: Bravo I don't think it's on Peacock. I don't know.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I think it's on though. I know that House Sides
- 11:02Speaker 1: in Miami is about to start production as well, so
- 11:06Speaker 1: that's huge. Beverly Hills is coming back in May. I
- 11:10Speaker 1: think the trailer is about to come out. You have
- 11:13Speaker 1: to know every time. So, like the ones that I'm
- 11:16Speaker 1: watching now, Miami came to an end, and I was like,
- 11:18Speaker 1: shit now because I get into the zone of being
- 11:21Speaker 1: so excited because then my like Sundays and Wednesdays are
- 11:25Speaker 1: filled with housewives, yes, and so when yep, when one
- 11:30Speaker 1: comes to an end, I go into panic mode, okay,
- 11:34Speaker 1: and I'm like no, no, no, I gotta have two
- 11:37Speaker 1: going at once. Yeah, so now I have something to
- 11:40Speaker 1: look forward to Jersey, see. I was like, Jersey now
- 11:44Speaker 1: filled in for Miami. Okay, okay, and then those are
- 11:49Speaker 1: gonna start wrapping up.
- 11:51Speaker 2: So you always want two going on at once.
- 11:53Speaker 1: I mean, I'd prefer three for three.
- 11:57Speaker 2: It's like four a lot.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Do they ever ate? I don't think they know they have,
- 12:00Speaker 1: And usually it's like the tail end of one of them. Yeah,
- 12:06Speaker 1: and then you're getting into like a third one because
- 12:08Speaker 1: there's always two on it once.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Okay, that makes sense.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Okay, so do you want to hear something crazy? What
- 12:20Speaker 1: the shy? I have never seen an entire episode of
- 12:23Speaker 1: Keeping the Kardashians Stop, never a full one.
- 12:27Speaker 2: May to know why though? Do you check out early?
- 12:30Speaker 2: Is it boring to you or what? Are they too long?
- 12:33Speaker 2: What's the reason? Because that's interesting?
- 12:36Speaker 1: It just doesn't keep my attention, you know, yeah, not
- 12:42Speaker 1: enough drama. I think they're extremely interesting to look at
- 12:47Speaker 1: and like obviously, like I'm into it, like I want
- 12:50Speaker 1: to know everything, like their works of art, like them
- 12:53Speaker 1: as people. Right, yeah, but like when I'm watching a
- 12:58Speaker 1: reality TV show, like I'm trying to you fucking scream
- 13:01Speaker 1: at each other once in a while, like I don't
- 13:03Speaker 1: want to sit here and like talk about oh my god,
- 13:05Speaker 1: we're like so famous and like that. Let's talk about
- 13:08Speaker 1: it while eating solid.
- 13:11Speaker 2: While shaking ourselves and being like.
- 13:12Speaker 1: You know, and I'm like, I'm sure I'm like one
- 13:16Speaker 1: in a billion who like has never seen a full episode?
- 13:20Speaker 3: Right?
- 13:20Speaker 2: Do you plan on seeing a full episode with this
- 13:22Speaker 2: new seases?
- 13:23Speaker 1: That's the thing is, every time the trailer comes out,
- 13:26Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, okay, I'm watching, and then
- 13:28Speaker 1: I do it and I'm like, you packed the interesting
- 13:31Speaker 1: shit into the trailer, so I've seen it all, you know. Yeah,
- 13:35Speaker 1: So I don't know.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I mean they're different than the Housewives energy. I love
- 13:40Speaker 2: watching the Kardashians, but it's like for weird reasons. It's like, oh, damn,
- 13:45Speaker 2: you make the sweatpants look like you could wear them out,
- 13:48Speaker 2: but you do that for me too, And then I'm like, oh,
- 13:50Speaker 2: you're drinking this cool tea that now I want to
- 13:53Speaker 2: like google it and like, oh, your makeup and just different.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Oh what are you using? Like that's a cool sound system.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Oh let me see the inside.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Of your house. Interesting.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Because I wasn't interested in the beginning seasons of Kardashians.
- 14:06Speaker 2: It's probably like rude or whatever to say, but it's shallow.
- 14:09Speaker 2: But then they started getting more successful and got like
- 14:12Speaker 2: the bigger houses, and then I was like into it.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I think that was most people. Yeah, people like watching
- 14:18Speaker 1: other people be really fucking rich.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Yes, which is housewives, which is why.
- 14:22Speaker 1: But see, I feel like it's not like it's not
- 14:25Speaker 1: a level of success that you that's like that's not reachable.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I mean some of them, obviously, you watch Heather de Brone,
- 14:32Speaker 1: it's like Okay, I'm never going to be able to
- 14:33Speaker 1: afford a forty million dollar home, right, But like I
- 14:38Speaker 1: I don't like watching that stuff that's interesting. I just
- 14:41Speaker 1: doesn't interest me.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Right, I'm curious if you will. I heard and read
- 14:48Speaker 2: that this new season of Kardashians is more tailored. I
- 14:53Speaker 2: heard it's less documentary style, or maybe it's more documentary style.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Either way, I heard it's different from when it was
- 15:01Speaker 2: on E. So I'm curious if you'll watch it. I'm
- 15:04Speaker 2: curious if you'll like it, or for the first time
- 15:06Speaker 2: ever watch a whole episode.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, I think I'm gonna try.
- 15:11Speaker 2: You're gonna try.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Yeah, You're gonna give it a chance because the trailer
- 15:14Speaker 1: looked bomb. Yeah, and like they're all in such like
- 15:18Speaker 1: strange places. They are, like like with this Pete Davidson,
- 15:21Speaker 1: it's like, what the fuck is going on?
- 15:23Speaker 2: I know, I know?
- 15:24Speaker 1: And then courting with Travis Wow, yes, that whole thing.
- 15:30Speaker 1: And then like Kylie Jenner is just giving birth to
- 15:32Speaker 1: another baby. I know that she that she named Wolf
- 15:35Speaker 1: and then decided anymore. It's like so strange. I love
- 15:40Speaker 1: it all. Yeah, see, so why do I love it all?
- 15:43Speaker 1: But I can't watch it.
- 15:44Speaker 2: It's just something about the show. I bet it's that
- 15:46Speaker 2: there are shows that I want to love so bad
- 15:49Speaker 2: and I can't. I cannot sit through them. I just can't.
- 15:53Speaker 2: There's something about them that I'm just like, I tune
- 15:56Speaker 2: out different stuff like that.
- 15:58Speaker 1: So I mean, I tune motion out. That's why I
- 16:03Speaker 1: have you, Because we'll like be on a meeting and
- 16:05Speaker 1: I look at you after we hang up, I'm like,
- 16:08Speaker 1: what did they even say?
- 16:09Speaker 2: But see, Lala, you tell her once and she's all in,
- 16:12Speaker 2: start repeating yourself, and it's like she's got other shit
- 16:16Speaker 2: to do.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Make my worst pet peep. Okay. When we're on a
- 16:20Speaker 1: phone call and it's like we're sitting there for fifteen minutes,
- 16:23Speaker 1: I'm like, we're on repeater. We're on repeater. We could
- 16:27Speaker 1: have spent the last ten minutes of this phone call
- 16:30Speaker 1: executing the damn thing.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Yes, and now we're just and you're like me and
- 16:34Speaker 2: where I'm not a big fan of talkers, like you'll
- 16:37Speaker 2: see like Lalla will be on We'll be on meetings
- 16:41Speaker 2: or phone calls and there's people who will like promise
- 16:43Speaker 2: and be like can we could do this and that
- 16:45Speaker 2: and this and that and then a couple of weeks
- 16:47Speaker 2: go by and Lala's like, I don't She's just not
- 16:49Speaker 2: a fan of talkers of doers.
- 16:52Speaker 1: I'm a fan of doers too, And I also don't
- 16:55Speaker 1: like how we got from kardown to this conversation. I
- 16:58Speaker 1: have no idea it's fun. I also am not the
- 17:01Speaker 1: type of person where if, even if I have a
- 17:04Speaker 1: conversation and it sounds great, even if like a deal
- 17:07Speaker 1: is signed, I don't count on it until the work
- 17:12Speaker 1: has been done and money has been transferred.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Yes that is me, Yes, that is me. And I'm
- 17:21Speaker 2: also not someone in this. You might not be able
- 17:24Speaker 2: to relate to this. I don't know, though. I have
- 17:26Speaker 2: a lot of friends who will post things on socials,
- 17:31Speaker 2: big things happening. Can't say anything about it yet, but
- 17:34Speaker 2: just know it's huge.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I have a friend like that, you do.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I have so many, and I love them to death.
- 17:38Speaker 2: But I'm also like I would never do. I'm the
- 17:40Speaker 2: kind of person that like, giant things could be happening
- 17:43Speaker 2: and you're not going to know until an article in
- 17:45Speaker 2: Deadline is released or something correct. And that's what I like,
- 17:48Speaker 2: and I feel like you're that same energy.
- 17:50Speaker 1: But there have been times though, where my friends have
- 17:52Speaker 1: been like, why did you not tell us that, like
- 17:55Speaker 1: this was happening. It was like when I started to
- 17:57Speaker 1: give them Lalla beauty and we launched, and my friends like,
- 18:00Speaker 1: you've just been worried, like and you didn't tell us.
- 18:02Speaker 1: And I'm like, because what if it like never came
- 18:04Speaker 1: to fruition? Yea, then what then you ask me every
- 18:08Speaker 1: day like when's that happening? And I have to tell
- 18:10Speaker 1: you that it's not. Yes, then that puts me. It's
- 18:13Speaker 1: like not about me not wanting to share with you,
- 18:16Speaker 1: it's me not wanting to have to explain why it's
- 18:18Speaker 1: not happening if it doesn't happen. I totally agree. Much
- 18:22Speaker 1: cooler to have everyone chilling and then some big things released.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I totally agree.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I totally agree.
- 18:28Speaker 2: And I also wouldn't want to be that person who
- 18:30Speaker 2: then well, then when I tell you if I were
- 18:33Speaker 2: to be that way and it didn't happen, then I
- 18:35Speaker 2: tell you again like, oh, but I'm working on this,
- 18:37Speaker 2: and your reaction or at least I think it's like,
- 18:40Speaker 2: m but are you.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Are you action?
- 18:43Speaker 3: No?
- 18:43Speaker 2: I literally have a friend like that, Yeah, you're like, okay,
- 18:46Speaker 2: but last time it didn't happen.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Where all of these great things are supposed to be
- 18:50Speaker 1: happening and then they still talk about it and like
- 18:54Speaker 1: nothing's happening. Yeah, put it to bed.
- 18:57Speaker 2: Interesting. Interesting.
- 19:00Speaker 1: We have a really sexy an inspiring female on the
- 19:06Speaker 1: podcast today. Her name is Katie Austin. You may have
- 19:10Speaker 1: heard of her, and she's going to be in Sports Illustrated.
- 19:14Speaker 1: In May, she got Rookie of the Year. I'm super
- 19:18Speaker 1: excited to talk to her. But before we have her on,
- 19:22Speaker 1: just do we have voicemails? Yes, we do.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Hey, La La, I just want to say that you
- 19:28Speaker 4: are a boss, badass.
- 19:31Speaker 5: Bitch and such an example to women everywhere with how
- 19:35Speaker 5: you've handled the entire situation with he who will not
- 19:39Speaker 5: be named because he doesn't even deserve his name to
- 19:42Speaker 5: be rolling off your lips.
- 19:45Speaker 4: And you just need to keep your tin up and
- 19:48Speaker 4: keep doing you. My question is, let's talk about the
- 19:53Speaker 4: iconic gray, fuzzy robe that we all need in our lives.
- 19:58Speaker 4: And I think it's time high time that you build
- 20:02Speaker 4: a key on who the hell makes your gray robe
- 20:05Speaker 4: and whether that's.
- 20:06Speaker 5: Still incorporated into your day to day routine by.
- 20:12Speaker 1: That bathrobe, the gray one is iconic. Yeah, and I
- 20:17Speaker 1: live in it, and if I didn't have book press today,
- 20:21Speaker 1: for give them Lalla. By the way, national bestseller paperback
- 20:24Speaker 1: is out April twelve. Yeah, if I didn't have Live
- 20:28Speaker 1: book Press today, I would still be in it. That's true.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I get them at bed Bathom Beyond, but I have
- 20:37Speaker 1: to say, because I am a fuzzy bathrobe connoisseur, give
- 20:45Speaker 1: them Lalla. Beauty will have its own bathrobe coming out
- 20:50Speaker 1: very soon, and I've added a hoodie to it. Oh
- 20:55Speaker 1: my god, I know, because the iconic gray bathrobe. I'm like,
- 21:00Speaker 1: this would be so much more lit if it had
- 21:03Speaker 1: a hood So this bathrobe that give them a lot
- 21:08Speaker 1: Beauty is going to have is gonna be so cute,
- 21:12Speaker 1: so cozy. I handpicked that fucking fabric myself.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I know you went. You put a lot of thought
- 21:18Speaker 2: into that too. I'm like, damn, this is a robe.
- 21:20Speaker 2: And she's like back and forth with your notes.
- 21:23Speaker 1: This is a robe, and we live in these because
- 21:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna be in it, I know, twenty three hours
- 21:28Speaker 1: a day.
- 21:31Speaker 2: And usually you guys, even if she is doing press,
- 21:33Speaker 2: it's like off to the side, it's very close by,
- 21:36Speaker 2: so it.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Can be thrown back. I love my bathrobe. So yeah,
- 21:40Speaker 1: this one's gonna have a hood and I'm super excited
- 21:42Speaker 1: about it. Next voicemail, Hi.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Lala, my name is Josie. I am calling from South Carolina.
- 21:49Speaker 3: I know we are not on your stop for the tour,
- 21:52Speaker 3: but I was wondering if you are going to be
- 21:56Speaker 3: selling like video version of it or if we can
- 21:59Speaker 3: tune in, if that's even an option, because I know
- 22:04Speaker 3: we can't travel right now, but I'm sure there's a
- 22:07Speaker 3: lot of people who would like to log in and
- 22:09Speaker 3: watch your tour live.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Be great to hear from me and think, I like
- 22:15Speaker 1: this question. I feel like because the tour that we're
- 22:20Speaker 1: doing this round is it's kind of like we're dipping
- 22:24Speaker 1: our toe in the water. We're gonna see how it goes.
- 22:26Speaker 1: We're going to see if people enjoy it. We're going
- 22:28Speaker 1: to see if I enjoy it, because it's new territory
- 22:31Speaker 1: for me. I've never been on a tour or done
- 22:34Speaker 1: like a live show ever, so we got to see
- 22:37Speaker 1: if like all parties involved even like it. I definitely
- 22:42Speaker 1: will have a lot of bts from the tour, but
- 22:47Speaker 1: say it goes well, then I'm going to be adding
- 22:50Speaker 1: a ton of dates where we're gonna, you know, travel
- 22:53Speaker 1: all over the United States. So I definitely don't want
- 22:57Speaker 1: to post the entire tour because then you're giving stuff away.
- 23:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yeah, just like if we decide that we want to,
- 23:03Speaker 1: you know, keep it moving and do like a lot
- 23:06Speaker 1: of different cities than I want people to really not
- 23:09Speaker 1: know what to expect. So I think behind the scenes
- 23:11Speaker 1: is the way to go. I love that, don't you think.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, and like behind the scenes for you content
- 23:18Speaker 2: that I'm really going to be trying to capture, Like
- 23:20Speaker 2: you before your very first show.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Oh my god, I.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Know you're gonna be like up and down, and I'm
- 23:25Speaker 2: gonna try and capture it all.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Do you all cry the first time I go on
- 23:29Speaker 1: to like a stage and see people.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Yeah, And if it's not, if you don't cry on stage,
- 23:36Speaker 2: it's gonna either be before of excitement or after of like,
- 23:39Speaker 2: holy shit, that was incredible. All these people came on
- 23:41Speaker 2: to see me. It's like Irvine sold out, Nashville sold out.
- 23:44Speaker 2: A lot of cities are like very close to being
- 23:47Speaker 2: sold out, if not already sold out by the time
- 23:49Speaker 2: this comes out. So I think you'll cry.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Well, I cried at the book signing you did. Yes,
- 23:57Speaker 1: when you see people who show up to support you
- 23:59Speaker 1: and like you're kind of unsure why, Like they don't
- 24:03Speaker 1: they don't know you. You know, Like when I say
- 24:06Speaker 1: they don't know you, they don't owe me anything, is
- 24:09Speaker 1: what I should say. Yeah, because we do know each other,
- 24:13Speaker 1: like we bond over social media. Like it's just a
- 24:15Speaker 1: different day and age where you can know people without
- 24:17Speaker 1: like actually seeing them and hanging out with them every day. Yeah,
- 24:21Speaker 1: So to see people show up for me who don't
- 24:24Speaker 1: owe me anything, that may that like triggers so many
- 24:27Speaker 1: emotions in me triggered in the best way possible. Holy shit,
- 24:32Speaker 1: that's so.
- 24:32Speaker 2: And then when you do I guess this is technically
- 24:36Speaker 2: a teaser, but when you do like audience Q and
- 24:38Speaker 2: A with them, I think it'll be with the guests
- 24:41Speaker 2: who come out for the tour, not guests, but the audience.
- 24:43Speaker 2: I think it'll be really interesting because from what I
- 24:48Speaker 2: saw at your book signing and just what I see
- 24:50Speaker 2: on socials, Yeah, you give certain people different things. Like
- 24:55Speaker 2: one person is like, you're a badass bitch and I
- 24:57Speaker 2: love that you stand up for yourself and confidence. And
- 24:59Speaker 2: then the other a person's like what you went through
- 25:01Speaker 2: this year, gave me courage and like another. So it's
- 25:04Speaker 2: just going to be interesting because I think you give
- 25:06Speaker 2: certain people a bunch of different things that I think
- 25:10Speaker 2: you're you know, you say, well what do I give
- 25:12Speaker 2: to you? Or whatever you just said, and I think
- 25:14Speaker 2: it's different for everyone. Right, I'm kissing her ass again.
- 25:18Speaker 2: You guys, you're welcome.
- 25:19Speaker 1: You can't silence me. I don't feel like it's kissed.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I feel like I don't at all.
- 25:24Speaker 2: That's why I still do it.
- 25:25Speaker 1: But because they're so so strengs.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Just speaking the truth my friends, Yeah, yeah, but what
- 25:30Speaker 2: do you act?
- 25:31Speaker 1: I think it's just true.
- 25:33Speaker 2: I'm just speaking the truth.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Can I tell you? Though? We before I forget. We
- 25:37Speaker 1: should definitely have tissues on stage because if I do cry,
- 25:42Speaker 1: like yeah, I don't want to be sitting there fanning
- 25:44Speaker 1: my face trying to.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Like that's true, pull it together on stage, tissues, backstage,
- 25:50Speaker 2: tissues everywhere, tissues everywhere.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Love those voicemails. My gusband has just arrived in the
- 25:57Speaker 1: building and when we come back. I love a good gusband.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Whenever he texts me and he's like want to hang,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I'm like, sure, come chill while I podcast. When we
- 26:07Speaker 1: come back, we have Katie Austin. We are back with
- 26:14Speaker 1: someone that I'm so intimidated by. We have Katie Austin
- 26:18Speaker 1: on the podcast What's Up?
- 26:20Speaker 5: Bill?
- 26:21Speaker 7: Hi?
- 26:21Speaker 6: How are you? I'm so excited to be on.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I'm so excited to have you and like, oh my gosh,
- 26:27Speaker 1: like everything about you is just amazing and beautiful from
- 26:32Speaker 1: the inside out.
- 26:34Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 26:34Speaker 6: I appreciate that.
- 26:35Speaker 7: I hope you don't mean intimidated by like a workout
- 26:38Speaker 7: sides or anything like that.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Well, don't even get me started on that, because I
- 26:43Speaker 1: will tell you what I fell off of the workout game,
- 26:46Speaker 1: like when I was put on bed rest for my daughter,
- 26:50Speaker 1: and then I'm the type of person where you give
- 26:52Speaker 1: me one day off and I'm like, we're off the schedule.
- 26:57Speaker 1: We have to like start from scratch. So you give
- 26:59Speaker 1: me nine months off and we're really off.
- 27:02Speaker 7: I mean, by the way, you have to obviously give
- 27:04Speaker 7: your body rest, listen to your body, and don't get
- 27:06Speaker 7: too hard on yourself. I will say the hardest thing
- 27:09Speaker 7: is just starting and getting back into that routine.
- 27:12Speaker 6: But once you start that.
- 27:13Speaker 7: Rhythm that you find it becomes easier and easier, and
- 27:16Speaker 7: not starting with anything like too crazier and too intense.
- 27:20Speaker 7: When you're back at it, it's just like starting with
- 27:21Speaker 7: like a ten minute walk a day or nothing too intimidating,
- 27:24Speaker 7: you know.
- 27:24Speaker 6: I feel like starting is definitely the hardest part.
- 27:27Speaker 7: But once you start going and you realize like ten
- 27:30Speaker 7: fifteen minutes sometimes all you need to feel better, and
- 27:33Speaker 7: you just feel so much better just after that short
- 27:35Speaker 7: period of time, it changes the entire mindset about your workout.
- 27:39Speaker 1: No, you're so right, because if you give me like
- 27:41Speaker 1: a week straight, I like can't live without it, and
- 27:43Speaker 1: I'm excited to go and do my thing. So before
- 27:47Speaker 1: we get into everything, I just want you to give
- 27:52Speaker 1: my listeners, Katie. Give them Katie.
- 27:56Speaker 7: All right. I can go on for quite a while,
- 27:59Speaker 7: but I'll give you this short spiel. Basically, I'm from
- 28:01Speaker 7: the East Coast but went to USC on a lacrosse scholarships.
- 28:04Speaker 7: So while I was a division and athlete, after I
- 28:06Speaker 7: moved on from college sports, I became a sports host
- 28:09Speaker 7: because I studied broadcast. I was on Fox Sports West.
- 28:12Speaker 7: I've done the Super Bowl, I've done the NBA Awards.
- 28:14Speaker 7: I went to the NBA for a little while, and
- 28:16Speaker 7: then you know, twenty twenty hit and I started to
- 28:19Speaker 7: focus more on in home workouts. I always really have
- 28:21Speaker 7: My background was fitness growing up. My mom is Denny Saustin.
- 28:25Speaker 7: I don't know if you ever heard of her, but
- 28:27Speaker 7: she had her own show on ESPN and Lifetime for
- 28:29Speaker 7: twenty six years. She was like the longest standy fitness show.
- 28:33Speaker 7: So I have kind of been in the industry for
- 28:35Speaker 7: quite a while, but it wasn't until like the last
- 28:38Speaker 7: two three years that I've really like taken it up
- 28:40Speaker 7: as my business per se, like a full time career
- 28:43Speaker 7: of being an influencer, having my own workout app and
- 28:46Speaker 7: now having my own show, my own Snapchat show, and
- 28:49Speaker 7: recently I'm most excited about being a sports lilister in
- 28:52Speaker 7: swimsuit rookie. I just got the news a few months
- 28:54Speaker 7: ago and shot my looks and everything in Europe this year,
- 28:58Speaker 7: so that was really exciting and the dream of mine.
- 29:00Speaker 7: So a few different hats that I wear as a career,
- 29:03Speaker 7: but I would consider myself all in all like a
- 29:06Speaker 7: fitness personality is what I like to call myself.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Okay, so you you grew up in the fitness world
- 29:10Speaker 1: and then you just dropped someone like just in Sports Illustrated.
- 29:14Speaker 7: But no, like.
- 29:17Speaker 1: What was that Like? Were you intimidated? Were you excited
- 29:21Speaker 1: like about about going and shooting for Sports Illustrated.
- 29:25Speaker 6: Yeah, it's still surreal to me.
- 29:26Speaker 7: I'm not gonna lie, like it's a really crazy feeling,
- 29:28Speaker 7: and I think it's going to become more real.
- 29:30Speaker 6: I obviously already.
- 29:31Speaker 7: Shot it and that was really real, like being there
- 29:33Speaker 7: with a twenty person team and MJ. Day directing you
- 29:36Speaker 7: and like showing you the photos. Obviously it's still real
- 29:38Speaker 7: to me. But when I like open that magazine in May,
- 29:41Speaker 7: I think it's going to be even just like more surreal,
- 29:43Speaker 7: Like holy shit, I actually did this. I actually went
- 29:46Speaker 7: through an entire process, and I've tried out since twenty seventeen.
- 29:50Speaker 6: So hopefully that just inspires people out there.
- 29:53Speaker 7: If you don't get it the first time, I know,
- 29:55Speaker 7: in like our industry, we get so many no's, and
- 29:58Speaker 7: so I really hope that inspires you just don't take that,
- 30:01Speaker 7: know and be like Okay, shoot, can't do it. Take
- 30:03Speaker 7: that know and be extra motivated and keep try again,
- 30:06Speaker 7: because don't give up on something that you think that
- 30:08Speaker 7: you actually can do when you dream about. And so
- 30:11Speaker 7: for me, I was an athlete my entire life growing up,
- 30:13Speaker 7: and I always wanted to be in Sports Illustrated as
- 30:15Speaker 7: an athlete and showing like strong bodies and you know,
- 30:18Speaker 7: fitness bodies, and so I auditioned for that purpose that,
- 30:21Speaker 7: like I think strong and sexy and showing girls that
- 30:23Speaker 7: you don't have to be a real model, like I
- 30:25Speaker 7: don't have a modeling agec I'm on a model. My
- 30:28Speaker 7: first big shoot literally I finished rapping for SI Swimsuit
- 30:32Speaker 7: and the interview question was, so, what when was your
- 30:37Speaker 7: first big shoot that we were like, damn, you made it.
- 30:40Speaker 7: Go literally right now, I've never really shot anything like
- 30:43Speaker 7: this before right now. They're like, oh, okay, yeah, what.
- 30:47Speaker 1: A great answer. Though. Yeah, you know, because when you
- 30:52Speaker 1: hear things like that, where you know it's like, I mean,
- 30:56Speaker 1: I know where I am right now, but do you
- 30:57Speaker 1: guys know where we are? Like, what do you mean?
- 31:00Speaker 1: What's my biggest shoot where I knew I made it?
- 31:03Speaker 1: This is Sports Illustrated.
- 31:04Speaker 7: Yeah, absolutely, and like my biggest modeling shoot, you know,
- 31:08Speaker 7: for me, I am not a model with no agent,
- 31:11Speaker 7: And so I also wanted to inspire girls that, like,
- 31:13Speaker 7: you don't need to fit in a certain end. Quote
- 31:16Speaker 7: stereotype to do what you want. You know, I think
- 31:18Speaker 7: the industry is changing so much, and I'm really you know,
- 31:21Speaker 7: happy that it is, and it's it's great for the
- 31:24Speaker 7: every type of girl.
- 31:25Speaker 6: The normal girl. I like calling myself a normal girl.
- 31:28Speaker 7: And I know sometimes the word normal isn't like a
- 31:30Speaker 7: good thing to say about yourself, but I'm saying in
- 31:32Speaker 7: a really positive way to inspire girls that, like, you
- 31:35Speaker 7: can be the normal girl and do it all and
- 31:36Speaker 7: be in sports illustrated and so I'm really really freaking
- 31:39Speaker 7: excited for me.
- 31:40Speaker 1: I mean, I'm so excited for you, and you should
- 31:43Speaker 1: be very proud, and I know that you are. When
- 31:46Speaker 1: did your fitness app like get on and pop in?
- 31:50Speaker 1: Because that's no east, Like that's hard to do, and
- 31:54Speaker 1: the app world is very intense, especially I'm sure with
- 31:58Speaker 1: what you do where it's like every one's very into fitness,
- 32:01Speaker 1: Like what is the app called? When did it start?
- 32:03Speaker 1: And what can people expect from it?
- 32:05Speaker 7: So I actually started my first fitness app in college
- 32:09Speaker 7: my senior year, and I had a student build it
- 32:12Speaker 7: for me, and it was god awful and I literally
- 32:16Speaker 7: lost so much money. It was all my life, like
- 32:18Speaker 7: my own savings and everything, and after I graduated, I
- 32:21Speaker 7: knew I wanted to create a fitness app. You know,
- 32:24Speaker 7: I love doing in home workouts and that's kind of
- 32:26Speaker 7: my background with my mom. But at the same time
- 32:30Speaker 7: of what five years ago, I guess like all apps
- 32:33Speaker 7: were like one hundred thousand dollars to build this like
- 32:35Speaker 7: two hundred K, and I was like, don't have that
- 32:37Speaker 7: at all. I'm not taking a penny for my parents.
- 32:39Speaker 7: And so I actually started it. I like white labeled
- 32:42Speaker 7: an app. I did it all myself. I'm like kind
- 32:45Speaker 7: of a one person team. Honestly, I have an assistant now,
- 32:48Speaker 7: but like I really do everything myself. I film edit,
- 32:51Speaker 7: I put the videos up, and so it's kind of
- 32:53Speaker 7: like a very homemade app, but I kind of like
- 32:54Speaker 7: it that feel because it feels like real, it's me,
- 32:57Speaker 7: it's authentic. I'm the one returning customers service emails, and
- 33:00Speaker 7: so the business is it's it's a lot of work,
- 33:04Speaker 7: but you can expect like really accessible workouts for girls.
- 33:08Speaker 7: It's only you know, ten dollars a month, and I
- 33:09Speaker 7: wanted to bring girls like a ton of different variety
- 33:12Speaker 7: of workouts so they can feel their best self at
- 33:14Speaker 7: home and like they don't need a gym membership. So
- 33:16Speaker 7: that's really the whole point of it.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I mean I love that, especially now that I have
- 33:20Speaker 1: a kid. I'm like, tell me what I can do
- 33:23Speaker 1: in my home so that I don't have to leave?
- 33:27Speaker 1: And what would you say, like things people should have
- 33:32Speaker 1: in their home to accomplish a stellar workout? Is it
- 33:35Speaker 1: like bands? Is it a workout ball or whatever you
- 33:38Speaker 1: call it? Like? What should people have?
- 33:40Speaker 7: I mean, you really don't need anything. I'll say that,
- 33:43Speaker 7: like I wait, workouts, I really do. And my mom
- 33:47Speaker 7: always says, your muscles don't know if you're in a
- 33:49Speaker 7: fancy gym or in your living room, and like, I
- 33:51Speaker 7: love that quote so much.
- 33:52Speaker 6: She's so cliche, but it's so true.
- 33:54Speaker 1: It is so true.
- 33:55Speaker 6: Yeah, And you know, for a.
- 33:56Speaker 7: Mom like you like, ten to fifteen minutes here and
- 33:59Speaker 7: there really does add up. I will say one of
- 34:02Speaker 7: my favorite pieces of equipment, though obviously I love a
- 34:05Speaker 7: band because it weighs nothing. You will put it in
- 34:06Speaker 7: your suitcase, take it anywhere, But ankle weights. I think
- 34:09Speaker 7: ankle weights are so amazing because if you're at your
- 34:13Speaker 7: work desk, you can just actually put them on your
- 34:15Speaker 7: wrists and do some nice like chest openers, some arm circles,
- 34:18Speaker 7: or if you're like on a conference call, put them
- 34:20Speaker 7: around your ankles and do some leglifts. So like, little
- 34:22Speaker 7: things really do add up throughout the day, even if
- 34:24Speaker 7: you don't want to break a sweat that day, or
- 34:26Speaker 7: even if you don't have thirty whole minutes, just little
- 34:29Speaker 7: things on your conference call, waiting for your water to boil,
- 34:32Speaker 7: or like you know, watching your child or anything. I
- 34:34Speaker 7: think ankle weights are great addition if you're gonn get
- 34:36Speaker 7: a warkiece equipment.
- 34:37Speaker 1: You know what. I love your outlook on fitness.
- 34:40Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 34:41Speaker 1: You don't It's very fresh. There's not many people who
- 34:46Speaker 1: have your approach, and I think it's very refreshing, So
- 34:49Speaker 1: thank you.
- 34:50Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 34:50Speaker 7: And I think if you know me in real life,
- 34:52Speaker 7: you know how I hate the word balanced, but balanced
- 34:56Speaker 7: I am. I drink a lot of alcohol. I work
- 34:59Speaker 7: out for thirty and it's day five times a week.
- 35:01Speaker 7: I'm not like one of those crazy fitness professionals because
- 35:03Speaker 7: it's just not realistic for my lifestyle. And so like
- 35:06Speaker 7: as a you know a working girl too who is
- 35:08Speaker 7: in their twenties and wants to have a social life.
- 35:11Speaker 7: I don't think you need to work out for an
- 35:12Speaker 7: hour every day and like track your macros. I just
- 35:14Speaker 7: don't think you need to even step on a scale.
- 35:17Speaker 7: It's all just like how you feel on the inside
- 35:18Speaker 7: and whatever feels right, and not being too hard on
- 35:21Speaker 7: yourself and doing something too intimidating.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I love that you say all of that, and I
- 35:25Speaker 1: also saw that you know your other goal is to
- 35:30Speaker 1: encourage people to not look at social media and see
- 35:35Speaker 1: certain bodies that you like think oh my gosh, I
- 35:39Speaker 1: wish that I could look like that, Like how do
- 35:40Speaker 1: we because here I am thirty one years old and
- 35:43Speaker 1: you know I be looking at you know, Kylie Jenner
- 35:47Speaker 1: or Hailey Bieber thinking how do I get that right?
- 35:51Speaker 7: And at the same time not to really take down
- 35:54Speaker 7: other girls because there's always going to be someone more
- 35:57Speaker 7: beautiful and fitter and you know, skinnier than you at
- 36:01Speaker 7: the same time, but you have to realize like you
- 36:04Speaker 7: are you and that is your power. Like plus, if
- 36:07Speaker 7: you are working out to attain a certain type of body,
- 36:11Speaker 7: you are always going to fail. You have a different
- 36:13Speaker 7: bone structure, a different genetics. Then you know, if you're
- 36:16Speaker 7: looking at me and you're like, oh, I'm going to
- 36:17Speaker 7: do Katie's worouts to look like Katie, You're never going
- 36:20Speaker 7: to get there because every single body is different, so
- 36:23Speaker 7: what I eat in a day might not work for
- 36:24Speaker 7: you and vice versa. So realizing just to work out
- 36:28Speaker 7: for you is the most important first step. You're not
- 36:31Speaker 7: working out to look like anyone else for your ex boyfriend,
- 36:34Speaker 7: even though it's great motivation. At the same time, you're
- 36:37Speaker 7: working out to feel your apbsolute best self, so you can,
- 36:40Speaker 7: you know, walk into a room with so much confidence,
- 36:42Speaker 7: be better in your relationships and be mentally stable, happier.
- 36:46Speaker 7: It's all about you and how you feel on the inside.
- 36:49Speaker 7: And so I think it's really important to you know,
- 36:51Speaker 7: never compare yourself. Obviously, it's really fricking hard. If you
- 36:55Speaker 7: do start to compare yourself, just exit the social media apps,
- 36:58Speaker 7: look yourself in the mirror, and tell you yourself, like
- 37:00Speaker 7: three amazing things that you love about yourself.
- 37:03Speaker 1: It's so it's crazy because it sounds so simple. I know,
- 37:06Speaker 1: and I'm telling you, I know when I'm in a
- 37:09Speaker 1: funk that I scrolled too much. I'm like you, you
- 37:13Speaker 1: took on too many like models pages today because right,
- 37:19Speaker 1: And it's and it's hard because social media has everybody
- 37:24Speaker 1: trip and no matter what age you're sitting at. And
- 37:27Speaker 1: I am the type of person where I walk into
- 37:29Speaker 1: the gym and I'm like, I'm getting a Jennifer Lopez
- 37:33Speaker 1: ass and no one can tell me otherwise, and it's like, girl,
- 37:36Speaker 1: it ain't gonna happen. Like it's just not It's.
- 37:40Speaker 7: Not gonna happen. And I will say this, it's funny
- 37:42Speaker 7: you bring it up from social media too. I was
- 37:44Speaker 7: just having a conversation last night with my boyfriend about
- 37:47Speaker 7: I feel myself the days that I'm on social media
- 37:50Speaker 7: a lot.
- 37:50Speaker 6: More the way more heightened. My anxiety is crazy.
- 37:55Speaker 7: Like the less I'm on social media but too busy,
- 37:57Speaker 7: I'm like, you know, having some all of my friends
- 37:59Speaker 7: or just working, like doing something normal than not on
- 38:02Speaker 7: social media, the less anxiety I have. But the days
- 38:05Speaker 7: I'm like sitting at home, like just like not doing
- 38:08Speaker 7: as much, my anxiety is so heightened because I'm just
- 38:10Speaker 7: scrolling for hours. It's so messed up.
- 38:14Speaker 1: No, it is okay. So you have you have a boyfriend.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Is he in the fitness world as well or like
- 38:19Speaker 1: how do you balance that?
- 38:21Speaker 6: No?
- 38:21Speaker 7: And thank god he's not in the fitness industry. I
- 38:23Speaker 7: don't think I could.
- 38:24Speaker 6: Ever do that.
- 38:26Speaker 7: Yeah, he loves to work out though, we like to
- 38:28Speaker 7: work out together. We actually just moved in together, not
- 38:33Speaker 7: just I guess six months ago.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I mean that's kind of just yeah.
- 38:37Speaker 7: Yeah, it feels really new still. It feels like we've
- 38:39Speaker 7: been living together for like eight years, but like a
- 38:41Speaker 7: week at the same time. It's like a weird law
- 38:44Speaker 7: lawland no pun intended. And so, yeah, we just moved
- 38:48Speaker 7: in together. He's amazing. He has a commercial real estate
- 38:51Speaker 7: finance job, and so he does not understand social media.
- 38:54Speaker 7: He doesn't even post on Instagram. And so that is
- 38:57Speaker 7: the exact way I want it to be, right because.
- 38:59Speaker 1: I mean, you being in the fitness industry with you know,
- 39:03Speaker 1: your dad being in the sports world, your mom in fitness,
- 39:08Speaker 1: Like that's a lot of fitness. If you found someone
- 39:10Speaker 1: who to date that's in that world as well, like
- 39:13Speaker 1: it sounds like again you practice balance.
- 39:16Speaker 7: Totally and yeah, setting boundaries too. And you know, I
- 39:19Speaker 7: used to date someone I'm an athlete and him also
- 39:22Speaker 7: having like an Instagram following and caring about what he's posting,
- 39:25Speaker 7: and it wasn't good for my mental health because you
- 39:28Speaker 7: have two creators and two people guess in the Spotlight
- 39:32Speaker 7: per se and so dating someone who is totally out
- 39:36Speaker 7: of it and who just doesn't care about social media
- 39:38Speaker 7: because he understands it's not real life. It's been like
- 39:40Speaker 7: so much better for my mental health. So I'm very
- 39:44Speaker 7: very lucky I haven't. And plus, like like yesterday I
- 39:46Speaker 7: posted a photo with like another guy and like I
- 39:49Speaker 7: got all these dms like this is so disrespectful to
- 39:53Speaker 7: your boyfriend, Like does he care? Does he agelus? I'm like, no,
- 39:55Speaker 7: he doesn't give a shit. He knows this is social media.
- 39:57Speaker 7: It's it's not real, right, It's fake. Yeah, no one
- 40:00Speaker 7: gets that yet. You try to explain to people that
- 40:02Speaker 7: it's not real, and then it's not real, and then
- 40:06Speaker 7: people come after me and be like, oh so you're
- 40:07Speaker 7: not real. I'm like, okay, just stop.
- 40:09Speaker 1: You just have to disengage with the trolls. Yeah, but
- 40:12Speaker 1: at least they're coming to your page. They're probably doing
- 40:15Speaker 1: your workouts while they're trolling you, which is all you
- 40:17Speaker 1: can ask for.
- 40:18Speaker 6: True. How do you deal with trolls? I actually want
- 40:20Speaker 6: to know.
- 40:21Speaker 7: Like I feel like it's as I grow, the more
- 40:24Speaker 7: hate I get, which I guess is good because people
- 40:26Speaker 7: are starting to care.
- 40:27Speaker 6: But it's been like really hard on the last few months.
- 40:30Speaker 1: You know what. I I don't always avoid the comments
- 40:34Speaker 1: section in DMS, but I try very hard to ignore
- 40:39Speaker 1: the you know, because you have all of these amazing
- 40:42Speaker 1: comments and then for some reason, you just want to
- 40:44Speaker 1: respond to the one mean one, and so I try
- 40:47Speaker 1: to go through and the ones that are negative, I like,
- 40:51Speaker 1: I try to envision them just at a really horrible
- 40:54Speaker 1: job that they hate, and go, you know what, this
- 40:57Speaker 1: isn't about me, it's about them, And now I'm going
- 40:59Speaker 1: to respond to someone kind.
- 41:01Speaker 6: It's so true.
- 41:02Speaker 7: I feel like also I do the exact same thing.
- 41:04Speaker 7: I will, for some reason, get one hundred nice comments
- 41:07Speaker 7: and then one mean one and I will reply to
- 41:09Speaker 7: that mean one, and it's kind of neglecting and like
- 41:12Speaker 7: disrespectful to the ninety nine. I know that who's so nice?
- 41:16Speaker 7: So I do need to remember.
- 41:17Speaker 1: That, Yes, and you definitely because I always think about
- 41:20Speaker 1: doing that. You know, I'm like all of these kind
- 41:22Speaker 1: people and I couldn't take time to like respond to
- 41:24Speaker 1: their sweetness, but I could respond to this like person
- 41:27Speaker 1: who's soul sucking. How does that make sense?
- 41:30Speaker 6: No?
- 41:30Speaker 7: It doesn't at all.
- 41:31Speaker 1: And then what is your What is your show about?
- 41:34Speaker 6: My show?
- 41:35Speaker 7: We actually just started season two, so I have two shows.
- 41:38Speaker 6: Congratulations, thank you, I'm really excited, so fifty episodes.
- 41:42Speaker 7: My show is really just like interviewing anyone and everyone.
- 41:46Speaker 6: I'd love to have you on my show too, anytime.
- 41:49Speaker 7: We talk about advice, sometimes like sex talk, sometimes relationship
- 41:53Speaker 7: it learning about people's journeys in their careers as well.
- 41:57Speaker 7: And then my Snapchat show, I'm super excs about it.
- 42:00Speaker 7: It is called Healthy Hacks, and basically it's like a
- 42:03Speaker 7: three to four minute show, so it's like a quick
- 42:05Speaker 7: bite of my favorite recipes. So basically, I love to
- 42:09Speaker 7: cook at home and I want to show girls how
- 42:11Speaker 7: you can cook at home in a healthy way that's
- 42:13Speaker 7: very realistic to your lifestyle. So that just got picked
- 42:16Speaker 7: up as a Snapchat original show, which is really really
- 42:18Speaker 7: fun for me.
- 42:19Speaker 1: You're killing it. You should be so proud, Like what
- 42:22Speaker 1: you're doing is not easy and you're doing the damn
- 42:25Speaker 1: thing when you are cooking, do you take into consideration
- 42:30Speaker 1: because I know that you said things need to be
- 42:33Speaker 1: realistic for you, whether it's fitness, your job, like everything
- 42:36Speaker 1: has to fall into a real realistic place. Do you
- 42:40Speaker 1: think like we're not we're cooking things that are this
- 42:45Speaker 1: many calories and we're not going above or are you
- 42:47Speaker 1: like I'm cooking what tastes good and that's it.
- 42:49Speaker 7: I'm cooking what tastes good and that's it. I will say,
- 42:53Speaker 7: if you are trying to genuinely lose weight, tracking your
- 42:57Speaker 7: calories does really help, Or someone who is just trying
- 43:01Speaker 7: to maintain their way and be healthy, like me, counting
- 43:04Speaker 7: calories would just not be good for my mental health.
- 43:07Speaker 7: I also will say I have a ballpark knowledge of
- 43:10Speaker 7: how much the things I cook, how many calories are
- 43:13Speaker 7: in it, So like I know how much you know
- 43:16Speaker 7: a handful of say omens, or like how much pasta,
- 43:19Speaker 7: how many car grams and carbs, and so if you
- 43:21Speaker 7: have a ballpark knowledge of like how many calories are
- 43:25Speaker 7: in certain things you're eating, I would say that really
- 43:27Speaker 7: really does help. But I never ever focus on that,
- 43:30Speaker 7: And that is the number one question though that I get,
- 43:32Speaker 7: Like how many calories does this meal happen? I'm like,
- 43:34Speaker 7: I'm not telling you because it does not matter at all.
- 43:38Speaker 7: And so I think cooking you know, with ten ingredients
- 43:41Speaker 7: or less, is like really important and I'm never the
- 43:43Speaker 7: type of person who's like, you know, using different superfoods
- 43:48Speaker 7: or going to air one and getting like the craziest
- 43:50Speaker 7: thing in their meal, because a lot of my followers
- 43:52Speaker 7: are like very you know not they're not in La,
- 43:55Speaker 7: They're not going to air one. They have a huge
- 43:57Speaker 7: budget to spend. So I would say if I take
- 43:59Speaker 7: anything in account, it's like budget and like how to
- 44:02Speaker 7: be healthier with less money?
- 44:04Speaker 1: That's so brilliant. I know when you live in LA
- 44:08Speaker 1: for a while, you start like, I'm from Utah, right,
- 44:12Speaker 1: but there are certain things out here in LA where
- 44:14Speaker 1: I'm like, this is weird and why am I spending
- 44:18Speaker 1: like twenty dollars on it when it probably doesn't even
- 44:21Speaker 1: taste that good.
- 44:23Speaker 7: And sometimes you get caught in a bubble where you
- 44:25Speaker 7: pay seventeen dollars for smoothie and you actually don't even
- 44:28Speaker 7: question it. You're like, oh, yeah, of course it was
- 44:30Speaker 7: my smoothie.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Like I told me it was good for me, Like what?
- 44:33Speaker 7: And I sometimes need to when I go back home
- 44:36Speaker 7: to Virginia, I get kind of like humbled, and I
- 44:38Speaker 7: have a really great group of friends. You like humble me,
- 44:41Speaker 7: You're like Katie, you live in a bubble. That's not okay,
- 44:45Speaker 7: that's not okay totally.
- 44:47Speaker 1: My mom is the same way, Like when we go
- 44:49Speaker 1: grocery shopping, She's like, this is how much milk costs,
- 44:53Speaker 1: and I'm like, I don't even think about it, I
- 44:54Speaker 1: just get it. And she's like, no, we need to
- 44:57Speaker 1: like take a moment to realize this is not normal totally.
- 45:02Speaker 7: And I think like my parents actually really help with
- 45:04Speaker 7: that too, you know. They never my mom never bought
- 45:07Speaker 7: anything designer like you always. We always really lived on
- 45:10Speaker 7: a budget to really even if we didn't need to.
- 45:13Speaker 7: So like I didn't understand this sounds really crazy, but
- 45:17Speaker 7: I didn't understand.
- 45:18Speaker 6: Like the value of like I guess wealth until I got.
- 45:22Speaker 7: To LA, like people flaught their money in different ways
- 45:25Speaker 7: because I just wasn't from that at all.
- 45:27Speaker 6: I guess I was like.
- 45:28Speaker 7: A very humble family and very humble friends, and you
- 45:33Speaker 7: get to LA and people are like flaunting different designer
- 45:35Speaker 7: bags and different like things that they have, and it's
- 45:38Speaker 7: like then I understood like the value of like money wealth.
- 45:41Speaker 6: So yeah, it was like a weird transition, that's for sure.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Oh I'm sure. I mean it was weird for me,
- 45:47Speaker 1: you know, It's like I knew rich people back home
- 45:49Speaker 1: in Utah, but then you get out here and you're like,
- 45:51Speaker 1: oh my gosh, it's a little insane and excessive. And
- 45:56Speaker 1: then you have me where I'm like, well, now I
- 45:58Speaker 1: need thirty designer bags and I don't even know why.
- 46:01Speaker 1: I'm just like, wake up, what are we doing?
- 46:04Speaker 7: I know I actually bought my first designer back this year,
- 46:08Speaker 7: and I was like, Okay, don't go off in a
- 46:11Speaker 7: spiral and buy ten more because you don't need it
- 46:14Speaker 7: at all.
- 46:15Speaker 1: It kind of becomes an addiction.
- 46:17Speaker 6: I know.
- 46:17Speaker 7: It's like tattoos. I got one finger tattoo and I'm like, damn,
- 46:20Speaker 7: I kind of want like five more on my hand.
- 46:22Speaker 1: No, baby, you're screwed. I got one tattoo and now
- 46:25Speaker 1: I have twelve and I'm like, what am I doing?
- 46:27Speaker 1: I have to stop.
- 46:28Speaker 6: That's me. That's me.
- 46:30Speaker 1: So where can people find you and follow you? And
- 46:35Speaker 1: what are the names of your shows? And when can
- 46:38Speaker 1: we catch a copy of your Sports Illustrated?
- 46:41Speaker 7: Oh okay, so everyone can find me at Katie Austin.
- 46:44Speaker 7: My biggest platform is actually Snapchat. So if you guys
- 46:46Speaker 7: follow me there on Snapchat, what's up? Then I have
- 46:50Speaker 7: my show called Austin af and Healthy Hacks on Snapchat
- 46:53Speaker 7: as well, and then my Sports Illustrated at some suit
- 46:58Speaker 7: debut comes out in me, So make sure to get your.
- 47:02Speaker 6: Copy and open the page to me or whatever page
- 47:05Speaker 6: that is.
- 47:05Speaker 7: I don't even know the photos yet. Yeah, I don't
- 47:08Speaker 7: know anything.
- 47:08Speaker 1: So I have chills for you.
- 47:11Speaker 7: Thank you, thank you.
- 47:12Speaker 1: It's so amazing, thank you.
- 47:14Speaker 7: It's kind of crazy though, like as soon as the
- 47:17Speaker 7: public sees what photos like, I don't know until I
- 47:19Speaker 7: go to the grocery store that morning and open it
- 47:21Speaker 7: up and to see what it is.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Oh, it's gonna be like Christmas.
- 47:24Speaker 6: I know, I know, I know, I'm not going to
- 47:26Speaker 6: sleep for.
- 47:26Speaker 7: Like two days before and like it's just it's getting
- 47:29Speaker 7: me a crazy feeling.
- 47:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna are you gonna have a party? Are you
- 47:31Speaker 1: gonna have like a celebration.
- 47:33Speaker 6: So the coolest part about what's happening to me this
- 47:36Speaker 6: year is that I actually won Rookie with one of
- 47:40Speaker 6: my best friends.
- 47:41Speaker 1: Oh, we just didn't want to mention that, yeah.
- 47:43Speaker 7: Which is really really cool.
