Latest / Mile High Huddle Podcast / BFB #544: Bills at Broncos: Divisional Playoff Matchup Set
Transcript
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome in folks, it is Monday morning in the 12th.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: And the Broncos Divisional Matchup is set.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: We know what day they are playing.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: We have a spread for the upcoming game as well.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: But we don't know what's gonna happen in the game, Eric.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: And we don't know who all is going to be playing.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: Also, I wanna talk a little bit of injury, see if you've heard anything.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: But it is Monday morning.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Nick Kendall joined by Eric Trickle.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: This is Broncos for breakfast.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: You're probably number one show at this time slot.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: We're also probably in last place in this time slot too, but it's always, you know, it's good to be here as always.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: I am still the solo dad this week, so potentially have to hop out early if the kid is up and upset.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: I got the monitor right here.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: So, and the pets are on, they run their best behavior this week and Eric, how about you?
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: Were you on your best behavior?
- 0:53[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: Me neither.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_03]: I wasn't.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it was good dad, but eight like crap.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_03]: It was a, uh, it wasn't the great weekend here in my household, like, just a luxury, we have an eight year old who has decided that she's going to stay up until 11 o'clock PM midnight every single night, basically, and not want to sleep.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_03]: And, uh, it just is leading to some frustrations, especially when it comes to doing her schoolwork, the next day, she had a math test on Saturday, because we do schoolwork
- 1:27[SPEAKER_03]: and uh well it just didn't go so well she did all the math test but getting her to do it was a problem but okay uh but no it's uh everything's good here and you know you talked about the game we also still waiting to see what time the game is we know it's on Saturday just don't know that time slot yet that'll be determined sometime after tonight's game although i'm sure the NFL has an idea when they want it
- 1:52[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm looking forward to it.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_03]: I'm looking forward to it's that it's the bills.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_03]: As scary as Josh Allen is, I'm not afraid of that defense whatsoever, but only watched about 10 minutes of football outside of the game last night.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_03]: And it was all the final two minutes of some of those games.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_03]: So some really good football this weekend from what I gathered at least.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the only games that were not like super duper competitive was the Indiana Miami college for ball playoff game.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: I still it does not make sense what Indiana's done.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like it feels like a kid is taking controller and has playing on their Xbox somewhere and just playing on freshman mode and just roll them through them.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: But we will see what happens and we got Ethan saying that if you look on YouTube, the Broncos game says 8 p.m. Eastern times the later slot.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: We will see the issue with this is that a lot of times time zones came to determine these things.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: And the Broncos actually play in the earlier time zone than who's going to be a play in the other game because it'll be the C-Hawks versus the 49ers.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: I believe in that other matchup Eric.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, we'll see when the Broncos play, but we do know it is going to be Saturday.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: And what a good weekend of football overall.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Man, the poor, the Justin Herbert playoff, non-performer is going to really manage to be a conversation in the off season with that team as well, and yeah, Denver's got a chance.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like we said last week or like I said last week, Eric, real chance to narratively build a good off season.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: Have you can beat the bill or not off season?
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: Post season.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: If you can beat the bills, that's kind of monkey off your back.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: The one negative I guess would be for that narrative is that you can't rectify the loss versus the jags, but, you know, is what it is.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, is a, it's going to be a hell of a matchup.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited for this game.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: And on a phone, we haven't played yet this season.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, they can't rectify that loss against Jaguars, but they can get that revenge for the playoff game last year, and you know, the Broncos are going to be looking back.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to carry that into them and or into this game and want their revenge for it, and it's basically a flipped game from last year, even though the bills were the second seed in for us as I'm see live sharing, now bills coming into town.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_03]: but that was a good game.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_03]: Watching the bills in the Jaguars game, that was one of the ones where I only watched the, watched a few minutes of the first quarter where I realized how awful Tony Romo is at being an answer.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_03]: Then I watched the final few minutes of it where still was cleared, Tony Romo is awful as a dancer.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_03]: But it was a, I put the condensed game on a little bit later.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_03]: after the game last night while I was still getting some work done and it's a good game and the bill is definitely have some threats offensively, Josh Allen of course and then you know the receivers they have but it was a good game but again, a lot of good football this weekend did ramspanther's game was a good one even though that you know obviously didn't have anything to do with the Broncos and I I watched the full game of the Patriots and the Chargers game and
- 5:02[SPEAKER_03]: and got to give credit words to the, and both defenses, I think, did really well.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_03]: All game long, Charter's offense couldn't get nothing done, but did you catch Robert's blame after the game talking about the Charter's offense?
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: No, I didn't say.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_03]: You made a comment about how they had no idea, the Charter's offense of players were coming up to them and saying they had no idea what coverage they were running.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_03]: And then,
- 5:26[SPEAKER_03]: Not a good indictment of Harba or Greg Roman and their preparation for the Patriots.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_03]: And after the game, Harba was asked if Roman, Greg Roman is safe, and he's like, I don't know.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_03]: So Greg Roman shouldn't be safe in that position.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_03]: He should be fired, but we'll see what happens.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: Now, could be a offensive and defense coordinator change out there for the Los Angeles Chargers next season, no changes in a year though, you know, different day different comments, but a lot of the same people, including our guy David young can appreciate to David he says so we play the bills, who the media says is has the best player left in the playoffs.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: They have the most valuable player left in the playoffs, probably.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you wait the quarterbacks, there's probably like individual play, like if you're going by mad and ratings, right?
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can have a quarterback who's worth a 96 in a
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just go safety.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's in 99.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: The quarterback who's in 96 is more valuable even if the safety is rated higher.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: That might be a fun little exercise to see who's left, like as far as the true best rated player left in the playoffs.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: But so one playoff roadwind is not in presence.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: He's been in the league for forever.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like how many playoff road games has he actually had a chance to be in?
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like the bills have.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: He said for playoff or okay, yeah, I guess I was going to say they've had a lot of they've won the division a lot, but okay, how many of those were not against Patrick Mahomes?
- 6:56[SPEAKER_03]: Well, sorry, counting the Jaguar's game was fine, but for prior to this and only one of them was getting not going into Kansas City.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: There you have it.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's it's a it is a small sample size.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: I guess you can not be impressed by him.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to give.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to take the opposite approach and, you know, lay praise on Josh Hellen and the bills because I understand this is a monumental matchup and task ahead for this Broncos defense and probably the best quarterback they've played this season on the whole as far as how they're playing the year as well.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: So tough matchup for the Broncos also.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, probably the best rush offense the Broncos have played since week two when Jonathan Taylor went all over them granted very different team Then we could do like this is the circumstances are so different, but this is gonna be a tough matchup for the Broncos on the whole but thanks David.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean Josh Allen is gonna be a tough one for him, but You know, we'll we'll see how it plays out Steven Bungar is as good morning everyone.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: This is a matchup.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: I was wanting to see
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited for it.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: As well, I really didn't want to play the Chargers again.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I just didn't annoyed by the three fans on Twitter or whatever it is, and I have respect for Josh Allen.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: Not that I don't have it for the Chargers to some extent as well, but I did
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: kind of boring a little bit too at the same time.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: So bills is a good matchup for us.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: Done done.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: Good to see.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Happy good morning to you.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Also as chargers don't love that QB showed less.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: Don't love their QB showed last night.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, because they're getting them killed.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm really kind of tired of the I'm not just in Herbert like believer as far as like he's a talented obviously top seven quarterback in the NFL, but
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: He shrinks in the big moments and also it's not like they haven't tried to add weapons and pieces around them.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, you know, they built their training ground on day and day in burial site, so they just have crazy injury luck.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, crazy, crazy game last night, just my Herbert just got pulverized.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, they've tried to build that offensive line up around them.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_03]: And you get restaurants later and Joe Altghert, they brought in Bradley Bozman, who he's been dealing with in Cushion, they've tried and that's what they just got to keep doing and maybe work on that depth now and, you know, keep adding more weapons.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_03]: But I think the biggest thing to change it got to make has got to be offensive coordinator as getting it earlier in 22 offense of possessions with Harbain, Roman, leading the way for Herbert.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_03]: in the playoffs in the playoffs.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_03]: And so it's obviously it's not good enough.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_03]: And part of that is on Herbert, but I mean, when he turned on that game last night, he tried his hardest to carry that team to win at, you know, cost of life and limb basically.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he took some nasty hits out there and he was still out there fighting for yards as a runner and trying to make plays happen.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, it's not a good time when you're offensive line, can't even handle stunts.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, all game long, the Patriots kept throwing stunts at him and it's not like they were greatly designed stunts to be hidden or anything like that.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_03]: It's a lot of them were pretty basic stunts and they still just had no answer for it and just constantly louder to get hit.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_03]: And it was rough to watch.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think Herbert is a really good quarterback.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_03]: And he's not going to shake that like a clutch gene narrative that he has until he gets over the hump.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_03]: And part of that problem is, again, what's going on around him with that offense when the injuries that they just can't shake?
- 10:52[SPEAKER_03]: Because as you said, they just happened to build their practice field on an ancient Indian burial ground.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: something.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, also the fact that it probably, obviously, Herbert's played every single playoff game on the road.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: Also, because the chief said one had one at ten in the row.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: So it's much harder to win a playoff game of a playoff caliber opponent on the road.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: Unless, you know, you have a AFC North situation or NFC South, which still competitive game.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: We got David Quintana coming in here saying our run defense will need to work, watch,
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll get into that here soon.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, the run defense from the Broncos last season was embarrassed, I guess, against the bills and with Josh Allen's ability to run as well and some players may be cheating a little bit in their assignments, Eric.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be a week to really push the fundamentals and your rush gap run lane integrity while pressuring the bills and playing run defense through it.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this is one where John of the Cooper is definitely on watch.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, not just with his production, he had what half a sack since the mini by week, and he only has like less than 15 total pressures since then, he's just not getting home.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_03]: He's not sent.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_03]: He's not holding up as a run defender and one of the big issues that you have.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you can go on and turn on the Washington Commander's game, the Jaguar's game.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_03]: Even the the second Raiders game and one thing is constant when you watch Jonathan Cooper.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_03]: He's not staying not maintaining Pastrush lane discipline and it's allowing these quarterbacks to get out there and make plays with their feet and either running the ball or extending plays And Josh Allen is the worst one to do that against on top of that.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_03]: You have Nick Benito on the other side with the productions been there, but he's had some moments where he's hitting the quarterback and struggle under bring him down
- 12:47[SPEAKER_03]: can't do that against Sasha.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_03]: When he hit him, you got to make sure you bring him to the ground, because once that play gets broken, he becomes even bigger threat.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_03]: So big for these guys up front to maintain that discipline and make sure that they're, when they get home, that they are bringing Alan down and not allowing him to keep plays alive because he can be a tough quarterback to Zach.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not only, I mean, Alan is obviously the main one, Eric, but if you remember last year in a playoff game, it was constant leak yardage from this defense, Cody Barton.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was a main issue in that ability, but you'd have, you know, cook, you tackle him at, you know, for every gain of three yards, and then the defense offensive line it get behind him and you'd see him push forward for another six.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: And instead of it being second and seven, it's second and one.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: 12 times in that game, which I mean, that really does matter.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see how that plays out in this one, but yeah, Denver is going to have to stop the run and limit the explosives.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: Luckily for the bills, they don't really have dominant wide receivers out there, but that's also like maybe been a negative somewhat to the Broncos because Denver has such an advantage with Patrick Sertan being able to line them up against a number one,
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: You're not really taking away that big of a piece for the bills offense when you do that.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know, we'll see how the Broncos decide to support their run defense.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: And hopefully they can eat and everybody loves eating that home, right, Eric?
- 14:23[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, speaking of eating, have you guys heard of gold belly?

- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Lewis, happy Monday, fellas, excited for the game Saturday.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: Here and we're likely getting the night game.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see when it's announced.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if when it becomes officially official, but
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't only matter to me, I guess.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever one works, there'll be only two games on Saturday and all island games.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: So whether it be the Saturday is always a little later, too.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: So it could be the, what would it be here?
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: Six o'clock, six PM, mountain time, kick off, or potentially the two PM, kick off.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: Either one sounds fine to me.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think those are the times.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's a little hour earlier with the weirdness of how few games there are.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: But good to get to this point and the excited to see what happens here.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: David Quintana saying NFL favors certain players, teams, shamelessly kissing their butts.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, no chiefs butts to kiss.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: So as we got Christie coming in, it's been a bit Chris, you hope you're doing well.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: Says this is gonna be tough game.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: I have my Tom is ready for a stressful game as well.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no ulcers allowed.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: No ulcers.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: Mark Kennedy.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: Good morning, go Broncos.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: You got Justin Barlow in the house.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good morning Broncos country.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: Love y'all.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: Josh Allen is type of the fourth most quarterback.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: Comebacks this year, but they don't tell you with who, fun fact.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's Bo.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Bo next skill.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: Williams, a lot of comebacks this season.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, Josh Allen has been unbelievable.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: Second half of the year, at least as well.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's one of the best quarterbacks in football.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: And now he is prone to make some WTF decisions.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_01]: Now and then, I don't know if you watched the, got it up in the Eagles bill's game, where he had a few turnovers.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: Demer needs to create those and take advantage of those when they are there.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's what football playoff comes down.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: Our playoff football comes down to a lot, but, you know, Josh Allen is a really, really good quarterback.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think Denver's gonna be,
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: taking back by as, or anything like that to, they have confidence in themselves.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I think that Denver, I mean, again, with the beating that Denver took last year in the playoffs from the Buffalo Bills, I think they're going to come into this one a lot more focused.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's one thing that all your long that we've talked about Sean Peyton has very has kept them really focused on the current game at hand and not looking ahead and they know that it's one game at a time.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't think they're going to get caught up in, you know, the the revenge narrative even though that's definitely there.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_03]: uh, and or overlook them or look ahead to whoever they may face, which is one reason why I actually like the fact that the game is on Saturday and not Sunday.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, that it's either, you know, 230 or mountain or 6 p.m. Mountain, whichever time is on, took whichever time.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_03]: The other game is still the Seahawks 49ers game.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_03]: So there's no AFC.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_03]: They don't know who their opponent is, and I can't remember who it was, but there is a team a couple of years ago.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_03]: And they lost in the divisional round and one of the players made a comment is like, well, some of our guys in the locker room, after we saw the game yesterday, because it was a Sunday game, they're like, they made a comment about how we, they're looking ahead.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_03]: They started looking and talking about wanting to face that other team, because they lost to them in the regular season.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_03]: which is always a risk.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm glad Denver has that Saturday game for this one.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_03]: And can keep focused on it and keep their eye on the prize.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_03]: But it is a tough one.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's gonna, they gotta do a lot to slow down, not just Josh Allen, but the running game in general.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_03]: The bills have a really good rushing offensive line, run blocking off of the line.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_03]: So works cut out for them.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_03]: And I've seen a lot of people talk about how this is the matchup
- 19:36[SPEAKER_03]: It's not necessarily the one I wanted, but of what we had, this was the one that I wanted.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_03]: The only one I probably would have actually wanted more would have been the Steelers, not because it would have been a good game, which is because I think the Steelers would be an easy one.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's gonna be a good one.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really excited, and he did not bother me on Saturday.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really glad my wife was gone this weekend, and not next weekend, because I'm gonna be a ball of nerves, and I don't wanna have to be replicating,
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: loan parent behavior in the house when that's happening.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: I, ideally, I'm away from the house just because I don't want to be bothered too much.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: I need to be immersed in the game.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: If anybody's got tickets, we got the good to see you just and appreciate you at WNC.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to be a lot of playoff team signing and directing defense.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: Playoffs will always expose average defense.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: It'll expose whatever your weakest at, right?
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just like it's good teams.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: So like, you saw the chargers offensive past design and offensive line past protection plan and talent on the offensive line depth get exposed.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: Other games, they were so close and they could go in many different ways.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, there's always something you can pick at, but offensive line weapons,
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: quarterback play, it's, clay offs will expose what your weakest at, but it doesn't necessarily have to be defense.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: Justin Barlow again, Herbert now and both look took a weapon, yeah, they did, yes, they did.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: And just getting into a weapon, oh, we got Biggie also, good morning, Broncos Country, hope everyone had a good morning, bring on the bills, swing him a cloud in the house, good to see him a home's coming in, saying, morning chaps, it's my home, something else.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: So, so phobic,
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: says, a more in-chaps do fail.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm really kind of happy.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Eric, maybe I'm petty, but the jags run in with the of the small market team and like, merchant everything, shut the hell up.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, who cares?
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: They were not even giving you like a negative comment and you like, pee in the corner about it, like, goodbye, enjoy the off-season.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry that that hurt your feelings, enjoy the views from the couch, like, annoyed.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: Get out of here.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, it was a compliment.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_03]: Sean Payton was talking about how well they've done with them being a small market team to be as competitive as they are.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_03]: And the fact that they took that as an insult, and not only that, they like just cherry-picked that small market statement and none of the players, none of the fans, even knew the rest of the comment because they just focused on the small market team.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_03]: It's like they heard that and then completely zoned out.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm kind of glad they lost and I don't know what his handle was that we see, but in the Malai Huddle discord, there's a guy at Johnny Waffles, as his name came out with the thing of Liam Cohen from his presser when he said do all but it was cancun.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_03]: absolutely loved it.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was hilarious, but not just the Jaguar is losing, but the chargers as well with Tony Jefferson after that season finale game.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_03]: Ha!
- 22:38[SPEAKER_03]: You've got what you deserve.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_03]: You completely overlooked the Patriots and they came in and they beat your butts.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_03]: So both teams that I really wanted to see lost.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_03]: Sentinel Supreme said, I said that can't
- 22:56[SPEAKER_03]: I think pretty sure was the anyways if it was you I apologize for cutting the rug person but somebody in the mile I had a discord game out with it, which I absolutely cracked me up.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, both teams who made a big deal over nothing or, you know, the whole Broncos stink comment that Tony Jefferson made after you lost.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_03]: Well, congratulations you're now on vacation and Denver's as the right
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: Good to have that number one seed.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: I know there are some people talking about, getting a little bit rusty over that break, and everything, but Denver played two games where I think Sean Payton and this crew ratchet up the intensity, the game's mattered for Denver to win.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think if Denver loses this week,
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: and they look bad, it's more likely because they played a good opponent and didn't rise to the occasion than having a bi-weeking out having to play.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's, I don't know, that's my opinion on it, maybe the players would feel a little different, but I think it's a huge, a huge, huge, huge advantage at that number one seed with the receding going on and everything like that, just not having to subject yourself to a beat down like that as well.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see the James Todd coming in says worry about this game is only only because I know single ten is going to be isolated more than once You need to try out a green law out there the majority of the game
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: It does sound like green law is going to be okay to go, Eric, from what I've heard, we will not have Brandon Jones back.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think we'll see Brandon Jones again this season.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: JK Dobbins will not be back this week.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: It did open up Drew Sanders 21 day practice window.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: As far as news goes, I don't expect him to get activated, but that's the thing.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: And as far as other injuries go, PJ lock.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: Did he return in that last game or not?
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I've heard of him.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: So he doesn't sound like he's going to be playing.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like it's going to be key.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: He's back to practicing.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: He's back to practice.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm from what I heard on last Thursday.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, we're not sure about lock.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_01]: So that's good to hear.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then Wattenberg can be activated for the AFC championship game because of a rule change that occurred this offseason.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: In the first episode.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: So any injuries you want to update on I guess lock is the one that's we're keeping an eye on I thought I thought key played pretty well overall and now this is I guess a good chance for lock in a revenge game for him because he was dreadful last year against the bills
- 25:25[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and when they returned to practice this week, because they didn't return to practice until Thursday.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody was back out there practicing somewhere a little bit more limited.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_03]: I think Locke was one of those ones that was a little bit more limited in it.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_03]: The only one who wasn't back at practice with Jardfink and Myers, who was away from practice because his wife was having a baby.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_03]: So that was the only one.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_03]: So all good news on the injury front.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_03]: It sounded like I can remember who it was.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_03]: If it was Parker Gabriel or look at Evans or somebody else.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody came out and made a comment on Drew Sanders that it sounds like this is just to have the window open in case green lawn, you know, gets hurt again.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_03]: Or something else happens at lineback or just have that window open and.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_03]: Just because the 21 day window means that they can activate and right before the Super Bowl.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_03]: So it's just kind of there, just in case.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_03]: Another one that we are expected to have the practice when to open is Lucas Crawl.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_03]: I think that that is Wednesday.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_03]: That was said, is that gonna do that.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_03]: So getting some guys off of injured reserve.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm with you.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think we see Brendan Jones again this season.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_03]: JK Dobbins fully depends on where Denver gets.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_03]: promising that if they can get past the division around, maybe he is back for that championship game, but I still think the Super Bowl is far more likely.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_03]: If they get that far, Betts, all good news on the entry front, Garibulls from what I understand the swelling on his ankle has gone down tremendously.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_03]: Alex Forsyth, he's been moving fine and Lequat and Berg, you know, maybe the divisional around we're getting him bet or not the championship game we're getting him back.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_03]: So everybody's good to go pretty much so still some guys to wait and see on that were limited, but all positive news on the entry firm.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is, uh,
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's good to hear.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: Overall, in a big thing for this Broncos team, for me is getting the offensive line and running back's healthy because that is the scab that you can pick at for this Buffalo bill's defense.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: Now I know they added some serious beef this offseason and you know, Dianne Walker was added to that unit.
- 27:33[SPEAKER_01]: And they have, you know, some players on defense, but overall, this has been a unit that you can run on pretty consistently.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I think McDermott has done a pretty good job.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: putting the defensive players in good positions, more so in the past game, then in the run game as a play.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like that bill's team has been taken the ball away, at a better rate as well, but on paper, this is the worst run defense that's left in the playoffs.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: I think by a good margin, and hopefully this is a game that the Broncos can control the line of scrimmage, not put bow in a many,
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: obvious dropback pass situations and kind of give the bills a little taste of their own medicine from last year.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: Can the Broncos do that with a running backs?
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: They have, we'll see, but a good run offense would be able to really control this game and take it to the bills on defense.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: Well, find out, this is going to be a big barometer for this Broncos team this offseason, because with how bad the bills have been on the ground, you have to be able to take advantage of it and keep out on off the field.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, talking about the run defense at one point in the Jaguars game, the two running backs for the Jaguars had eight combined rushes for almost 100 yards.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_03]: And they just didn't stick with the running game, and so Denver, that's something that they got to figure out, get that running game going with consistency.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_03]: And this is a good defense to, I mean, I don't think that's going to happen to where it's weekend, week out.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_03]: just because at this point it's tough to completely flip the script with something that's been as rough around the edges as the Broncos Russian game has been, but in terms of the in this game against the bills, they should be able to find some consistency running the ball and they need it to help take that pressure off because the bills, their passing defense, well it's not great, it's still fine and they do have some guys up front that can get after the quarterback.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_03]: and you just got to help take that pressure off of Bonix and especially with the offensive line that has kind of struggled a little bit more in recent weeks in past protection than they had most of the season and so you just got to be able to take that off and the consistent run game is the one way to do it.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_03]: I'll be should see a little bit more of your little McLaughlin.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_03]: Argy Harvey, we really need to get him finding some kind of consistency on the ground.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_03]: The touchdowns are great, but there's been no consistency as a runner from him whatsoever.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_03]: Tyler Badeye.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_03]: whatever he can chip in, they just got to get something going.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_03]: So that's what the offensive line.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_03]: There's definitely some weaknesses with the bills up front when it comes to the run defense.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_03]: Some guys who don't necessarily like the discipline as run defenders that you need to hold up against the run, a lot of guys who, you know, in the system that they have, they don't exactly execute it the way that they're supposed to you.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_03]: Definitely the potential is there for the Broncos to really run this run out this game.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_03]: And control the clock that way, it just can the Broncos go out there and execute it offensively, which has been the biggest question with the running game.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: And since week 10, the regular season, the bills have the third worst EPA per rush against the run in the entire NFL.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: So they do have a
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, weakness, the question is, do the Broncos have the run game infrastructure and design in place to take advantage of that?
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: One thing also, this bill's team doesn't really scare me as far as their violence and team speed necessarily, and the back seven, I'm not saying, you know, bone X, go out there and put your body on the line, and it is the playoffs, but like, I think this is a good game where you can actually, you know,
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: that Bonix plays smart and they really take advantage of that bill's linebacker core which they're small and they're a little speedier I just am not I'm not as worried about him taking violent hits and talk about let's let the Broncos be the the leak yardage team to some extent I don't again I don't necessarily want that to be Bonix and putting your quarterback subject to those hits but
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: overall.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's that's the big thing in this one.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: The weakest part of either team is that builds run defense.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully the Broncos can take advantage of that in to that front Eric.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: I got to ask, who's going to get more carries on offense?
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: Is it going to be Jaleel?
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: Or is it going to be RJ Harvey?
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like RJ Harvey is going to get more touches.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: I would assume he's going to get more snaps, but who gets more carries when the box score the dust cells?
- 31:54[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's going to be RJ Harvey simply because when he's in there you have a little bit more versatility with him because of what he's been able to do as a receiver then over Jolima Glaffon.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_03]: And so I do think it's him.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_03]: But I do think that Jolima Glaffon is going to come away with more yards.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't think it's going to come with more carries.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a Glaffon has looked agranded again, small sample size, but Glaffon has looked way better.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a good pass projector.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: Arger Harvey isn't either, but I feel like he's improved.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: They're like I'm not as like concerned about him.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's been a few good blocks from Arger Harvey getting in the way, you know, getting the guys ankles and he's also much better out of the back for the past catcher.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: Gabe comes in and says, are we underdogs on this game?
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: I like it better when we're supposed to lose.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right now on the...
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: I check this morning, the spread is the bills by one and a half.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: Now we'll see where the sharps versus the public are coming in on that and how that line moves.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: I would have figured it should have been like a 0.5-pickum game on this one.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: So the one and a half surprised me, surprised me a little bit.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean the bills were one and a half-point favorites.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: against the jags as well.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, Vegas kind of knows what's up, but this is a this is a coin float game, but hopefully the Broncos can only into that a little bit as well and come out Matt is dogs, you know, just like about being disrespected.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: That one actually I feel like Matt is a little bit more than the misconstrued small market team, like Vegas has been down in you all season and they're doing it again.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, not just Vegas, but almost every single analyst, every single talk and head out there in the NFL.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_03]: It's always been the same thing.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_03]: It's been the teams they're facing.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_03]: They're not good teams.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_03]: They're not beating good teams.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_03]: They're barely winning these games.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_03]: They're not facing the quarterbacks because of how many quarterbacks starting quarterbacks were out for the games or went out in the early in the game.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_03]: It's always been something to detract away from what the broadcast have done this season, and even despite all that, the fact that they won as many games as they did in the row, the fact that they won as many games as they did overall.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's impressive.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_03]: It's the same thing with, even though we kind of touched on it with the Patriots and the record of the teams that they beat, you can only play who's in front of you, and it still is,
- 34:16[SPEAKER_03]: wins aren't easy in the NFL and getting to 14 wins is impressive.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_03]: And Denver should have a little bit more respect towards them than we get.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I tweeted out a thing last night talking about the, this is a revenge game for the Broncos, not even saying if Denver would win or not.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I got a couple of DMs from people who are supposedly Broncos fans that are like, well, Denver's going to lose this one.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_03]: They have no chance at it.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_03]: It's like,
- 34:41[SPEAKER_03]: How can you think that it was?
- 34:42[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not saying numbers going to lose.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's just that kind of disrespect for them has been so constant and they've really from what I understand have laid have played into that that they are taking that personally and that's you know they're using that as motivation and rightfully so as you said that is a little bit more reason to take motivation and when you're constantly being doubted and being complimented about doing as well as you are being a small marketing.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: It should be a great one.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: We got the bills fan coming and saying go bills.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mind these kind of comments.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: They don't come in.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: They're not disrespectful.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_01]: Good luck to you.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully no injuries and yeah, it's a little interesting to see what happens.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: And this game I'm really excited for it.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: We got Todd Austin to our comments and hello, Bronco fans.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see you.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: We've been, we got Keith saying Broncos Country.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: I really think we're a Super Bowl bound.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: One one at a time, but it is they got the home games laid out in front of them and can take take advantage of it.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: We'll also see how tonight's Texans game goes on.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping for a Texans Patriots, you know, brawl out there in New England, the two physical teams.
- 35:51[SPEAKER_01]: But they've just got to take care of business.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: It'll be what it is.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: Got Todd Austin to have fun in the house saying glad I get to catch the Buffalo, the breakfast show.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's rare for me, great to see you.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: And Nails comes in and says, watch, dobbins coming back and tear it up with the run defense.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: Out of the dobbins is expected back in this week.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think we had heard some chatter about that.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're like really hoping they have a championship game could happen, but probably there'll probably still be this people assuming they get that far, but we'll see.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: We'll know a lot more on Wednesday this week when they get an injury report, but happen for the Broncos to get a week to prepare
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: nurse a little bit, you know, get back to health and, you know, just not have to play a randomness or play a game where random results can happen.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_03]: But as you said, not expecting Dobbins back this week.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_03]: I think this would be a great week to get him back if he is good to go, but I think if we're looking at this week, he probably would have had as practice went to open last week or even the week before giving him some time to amp up the practicing that he's able to do because when you're on injury reserve, there are limits at what you can do.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_03]: So no practice went to open, so it just makes this week doubtful.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_03]: They's going to be back in time with it, especially with it being a Saturday game.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_03]: I'd expect we probably get some more news about it, probably tomorrow or Wednesday, like I said, Wednesday's the expectation for when they open that practice window for Lucas Crowell.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_03]: And that could be a time when they decided to do it for JK Dobbins with eyes with the championship game.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_03]: So how I kind of view it is when they open up that practice window, it's probably the week after, not that week up.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_03]: The Denver has a few times done at the season where it's been that week to have opened it.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_03]: Malcolm Roach earlier in the season is one of those guys.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_03]: uh but yeah, I'm not expecting J.K. Dobbins back this week, not Luke Watt, no Luke Watt and Berg, the guys on injuries are basically I still expect them to be on injury reserve at this point next week.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sorry, my wife was texting me and the kid still asleep so we can still keep going here.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I'm sure.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, yeah, probably wrapping it up here pretty soon.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: Um,
- 38:01[SPEAKER_01]: JS, why did the Broncos open the window on your Sanders just in case injuries occur and it's 21 days so you pretty much have the duration of the.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: At least the next two rounds to make that decision and you'll have an idea of heading into the Super Bowl, what you're at, health wise.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: So it makes sense to do, from that perspective, we got Aussie talks is, do you guys think the Broncos defense is a better equipped to handle the bills run deep game this year?
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: So your additions were made up front from last season where this deadline looked very light versus Buffalo, not necessarily true.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: You added HaFanga while you still upfront, but like HaFanga is such a plus in the rhyme game now granted.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: sometimes he's going off of vibes and instincts, and that can result in being out of position.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: And we're coming in a little hot and missing a tackle, but I got rather, obviously have him then not for the splash plays, maybe we can start to get some turnovers, and also, strunad slash greenlaw are exceptionally better taking on the run game than what we saw last season from the, from the, kind of us that we talked about earlier, Cody Barton.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think the Denver, how they got beat last season, a week to prepare as well, they, they're going to be ready.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're going to be ready for that one.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_01]: And Erica, kind of a hot take.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: Would you, obviously, it's been Cooper starting for a bit.
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: And they've had pretty good with like one, two rotations out there at the edge room.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: I honestly might want to get a little bit more Ellis out there this week in favor of Cooper because Cooper has struggled of late and I think Ellis plays a little bit more tenacity on the edge a little bit more physicality on them what we've seen from Cooper.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I would be for it.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_03]: I would like to see the Broncos.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_03]: One thing that really bothers me with the edge rotation is that it's been pretty much nicked by the one genre of the Cooper or Jonah Ellis and Don Dretelman.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_03]: They haven't really mixed it up a whole lot with that.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_03]: I'd like to see them do that a little bit more.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_03]: But I would look at Jonah Ellis over Jonathan Cooper because he is far more disciplined when it comes to the brush lane and is a I think a little bit more physical when it comes to when he makes contact a little bit more violent I guess would be the better way to put it so I would look at it I don't think they will I mean with what they paid Cooper I don't I don't see it and then as for this comment with the additions and made up front it's they really didn't add many to it, but it's.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_03]: everybody is significantly better than where they were last year.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_03]: DJ Jones last season was not as good as a lot of people made him out to be, especially against the run and then for change up a little bit with how they were using him against the run this year and he's looking significantly better.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_03]: Same with Malcolm Roach, last year he was not a good run defender whatsoever.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_03]: He looks really good this year who was a Riquei barely was playing last year because of, you know, the time that his year was
- 40:52[SPEAKER_03]: Not necessarily starter level player, but a first line man in the rotation kind of level, is that gallons looking better against the run, John.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, everybody's looking better against the run.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_03]: Then you add in the addition that you had with Hufanga in green law, and even the improvements that Sernad has made.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_03]: And Alex Singleton is back and so they've made these additions just not necessarily to the defense of front, but at mine back or at safety, which have that trickle down effect when it comes to defending the run with their ability to read the runs and be in the hole and play a little bit more violently.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_03]: than, you know, Cody Barton and even PJ Locke last year, and though, PJ Locke may be starting in this one in place of Brandon Jones.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_03]: So they still made improvements to the run defense and Denver outside of the cold scheme this year.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_03]: They played the run really well all season long.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_03]: Some of that is to, again, the improvements of players made, but also fans Joseph with some of the changes that he made with the run defense aspect of it with the defense.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's, then we're got their butts handed to them last season.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully everybody's feeling a little bit, uh, obviously ramped up for this one, but you shouldn't have to worry about that at all.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's the playoffs.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a good matchup.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: And this is one of the games where all the investments in the town at the Broncos have on the defensive line, hopefully it shows up, and it's not neutralized against a very good bills rush offensive line.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, given how this game is going to play out to Eric,
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: As we wrap it up here with everybody coming in good to see Michael Ronkio in the house taught us in Dorfazzi all these great commenter's day class and a little late crush net show wouldn't be shot could be see more Ellis probably play the best outside of.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_01]: Contain have seen from the Broncos I mean he's been great.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if they're trying to not mess things with Cooper I felt and we've been, you and I both have been talking about it.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: Cooper's not played as well since the by a week.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see if there's any chance to switch up from rotations is probably following a buy and giving the opposing offense up the NLs to think about that they don't have on tape.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: But this is gonna be my final takeaway here before we end the show.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be a low possession football game.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_01]: The Broncos with how the bill's defense plays the run and also how the bill's want to play offense.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: I imagine long slow burning drives, both teams probably take away explosive the bills like they play a lot of two high safety shells, hope that the Broncos can take away the explosives are not necessarily explosive on the perimeter with their past catchers.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: Each possession is going to really matter, this is going to feel like a pitching duel.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: I imagine so.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like a lot of times in the playoffs, you know, I always harp turnovers and expose the place, Eric, but this is going to be a game where it's going to be who can avoid that one back breaking catastrophic play is it a huge special teams one is it a DPI down the field that flips 50 yards is at one missed tackle where somebody, you know, goes for an explosive after you've really contained them the whole game.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: Low possession games means each play matters so much more so who can avoid that one backracking mistake and Who can get seven and set a three in the breadzone the two gigantic keys when you're talking low possession low total play kind of games Which is what I expect in this one
- 44:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, which is one of the reason why I've been harping about this offense when not being able to finish drives in the in the red zone or when they get near it for the last few weeks, they've been playing into that lower possession grinded out long drives and just haven't been able to finish the drives that they need to.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_03]: which is a must when you get to the playoffs.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_03]: It's a must when you play a team like the Buffalo Bills, when you have a quarterback like Josh Allen on the opposite side, mind, you've got to end with seven, not three consistently, especially when it's long drawn out drives.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_03]: I was talking with somebody and they were saying, I'm going to put the over under on total drives in this game at 14 and a half, not quite a meal downs.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, that's actually, I think that's a fair one to put it.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_03]: And it's kind of tough because when you get these longer drives, you're looking at about maybe four drives per team in each half.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_03]: So it's definitely a tough one.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be tougher, Deborah, to get it going.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_03]: And again, not only do they need to end
- 45:10[SPEAKER_03]: got to get that run game going, whether it's, you know, feeding the ball, digital McLaughlin, who has looked really good playing as a slasher in this offense, or if it's just getting using the versatility of RJ Harvey with the passing game, because the Jaguar, it's again, they played into that.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_03]: They had Travis Etagin who had, I think, 10 rushes for, I can remember how many yards in he had, like, four or five catches on top of that.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_03]: And he was a big factor for them.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_03]: They had one point both running backs.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_03]: They had eight rushes again for one by 100 yards.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_03]: The only ended with I think like 14 or 15 total rushes for like a hundred and 18 or 120 somebody yards.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_03]: Denver's just got to be a little bit more consistent.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_03]: That's one thing with this run game that that concerns me on top of the consistency is when Sean Peyton when we do get a run game going or there's a little bit of a struggle there.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_03]: John Peyton has a really bad habit of going away from it early and really playing into the passing game.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_03]: Got to stick with it especially, and again, especially in games like this, where the drives and each play matters so much more because there's going to be most likely going to be fewer drives.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: Gotta take advantage, gotta be efficient, and gotta hit your shots when they're there.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: So we're gonna wrap it up here.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to everybody, hangin' out with us today on this Monday morning as we know who the Broncos are gonna be playing over all what a fantastic week of football.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully tonight's game is also enjoyable.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: And we got Amy comin' into, good to see you, Amy.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate ya.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, overall, it's great to, great.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to football good to have the Broncos kick their feet up and excited for this matchup versus the Buffalo Bills.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk again on Friday, Eric.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be back tomorrow night to talk about this game with Carl.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: And hopefully we'll have an idea of what time this game is going to be played at too.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_01]: Just kind of get everything settled.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_01]: But Saturday, the Broncos play there,
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: Most important game in a decade I would imagine higher stakes obviously they played a playoff game last year, but this is around further into the playoffs and also you're the number one seed and The one thing I hate about not hate that's that's the stream of fan bases just as soon like oh we're here now.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be the norm going forward.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: you never know.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: So you have to take advantage of those seasons when you get the opportunity.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think Dame Campbell said it two years ago when the lions lost the NFC championship game when they are right there.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know if we'll ever be here again.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: I expect the Broncos to be very good, but number one seed, everything in front of them.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: This'll be a missed opportunity if you don't at least win this game, but it's a very good opponent.
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: I can't guarantee anything.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: Season's not a boss if you don't take care of this one, but it'll be a missed opportunity.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: No doubt so.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully the Broncos feel.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: that hunger and understand what's in front of them.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure they do, but this is a golden opportunity for the Denver Broncos.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: So Eric, make sure you guys are following him on Twitter, X, whatever it is, of course, he is at Eric Trickle, I'm at Nikhandle, I'm at GH, also Dylan Bon Arx, MHH, in the background, hang it out with us, follow him as well.

- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: Eric final thoughts before we get on out of here and start our Monday.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: Man, really excited for the Broncos display on Saturday.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: It'll be here before you know it, but I'm sure it's gonna be a long, long week as well.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's going to be a long one.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to that wait.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be a long time.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_03]: I remember when going, you know, the last season we were running, just waiting the week up to it, just how long it was, especially, you know, Thursday and Friday.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_03]: Those are going to be the really long days for it.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm excited.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm glad they got the bills.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_03]: This is a really good test for them with the quality of quarterback.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_03]: Even though Josh Allen is being done, he entered this week with a foot injury.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_03]: But he's going to be able to rest it.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_03]: He's still went out there and played a really good game against Jaguires.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_03]: They're tough on it.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_03]: They're mostly a well coach team.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_03]: They do have some lack of discipline moments, but you know, I think that's more player level than coaching.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_03]: But they're experienced in the playoffs.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_03]: Josh Allen is 8 and 6 in the playoffs.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_03]: So he's got plenty of it.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_03]: This is only Bo Nix's second game in the playoffs.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_03]: So maybe experience will come into play.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm excited for this one.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_03]: Denver has their work cut out for them.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_03]: And now that they know who their opponent is, they can get down to the nitty gritty of what they need to do to walk out with the win and keep their hopes alive and not only making this a bowl, but winning it.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it should be fantastic.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_01]: Really, really excited and looking forward to it.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate everyone in here.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_01]: In the chat, it's gonna be a great week in joint, also.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: Eric, appreciate you coming on nice and early shout out to Dylan as well.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: We will see you guys again later, have a great one.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: Happy Monday.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_02]: Go Broncos.
