- 1:10Speaker 1: You were my son's you were younger than mine.
- 1:12Speaker 2: You met me when I was like nineteen.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Ah ah, because I moved here when I was eighteen,
- 1:18Speaker 3: So you met me when.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I was nineteen.
- 1:19Speaker 1: You were nineteen.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Oh my god, like I think when we did the
- 1:24Speaker 3: Great Taste, Great Taste, I was nineteen because I also
- 1:27Speaker 3: had that was the first time. That was the first
- 1:29Speaker 3: you matter hoodie that made that I wore an episode
- 1:32Speaker 3: and so ya I was in nineteen.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Dang, I'm aging. Yep, you really are. You could literally
- 1:38Speaker 1: be my child almost.
- 1:41Speaker 2: I like to think of myself as as a bonus.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Day uh pulling up a little bit meat or or
- 1:48Speaker 1: there you go. Uh dang, dang. So you've had like
- 1:54Speaker 1: a ten year career already almost.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Yeah, right, yeah, because I started well, I started on
- 1:59Speaker 3: YouTube when I was so it's been a lot of.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So you're young old when it comes to that. Yeah,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you've had like like, bro, you ain't the game as
- 2:09Speaker 1: much as me, but you're just fifteen years younger. Yeah
- 2:12Speaker 1: what I'm four forty Okay yeah man, yeah, okay, So
- 2:17Speaker 1: let's go.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Look, you look forty. You'll give forty the bald head,
- 2:21Speaker 2: don't give it. But you've been bald this whole time.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I've been bald a minute.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Yeah even if you if you if it was like
- 2:26Speaker 3: a progression, if you're getting balder, it'll be like one
- 2:29Speaker 3: of them Bosley commercionals.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I just let it go. I let it go one
- 2:34Speaker 1: day and I was done. So let's go back to vine.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Right what I imagine, like most people at that time,
- 2:41Speaker 1: you was just you was just popping, like you just
- 2:43Speaker 1: making videos and having fun. Right when did you know, like,
- 2:47Speaker 1: hold on a second, my videos are doing more than
- 2:50Speaker 1: most videos because you were like in the top twenty
- 2:52Speaker 1: creators period of Vine. When when did it start to
- 2:56Speaker 1: feel different for you? When I was in.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Did summer after junior year of high school? Okay, but
- 3:04Speaker 3: senior years where it was like, oh okay, this is
- 3:07Speaker 3: any thing?
- 3:08Speaker 1: Was it a certain video? Was it like a wave?
- 3:10Speaker 3: It was I want to say it was like a
- 3:11Speaker 3: wave of like consistency. So it would be like one
- 3:14Speaker 3: video making like a million views, and like mine, that's
- 3:16Speaker 3: a lot. You know what I mean because you can
- 3:18Speaker 3: see your views up top and it just slowed loop bros.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You see I mean luc got Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 2: So I think the video that I made because my
- 3:28Speaker 2: best friend was like doing very well one who's your
- 3:30Speaker 2: best friend? Dope? Violin?
- 3:32Speaker 1: Oh Angela, Okay, I didn't. I never saw him on
- 3:34Speaker 1: vine as much he was.
- 3:36Speaker 2: He inspired me to go harder online.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Oh really, It's like I want to say, junior year
- 3:40Speaker 3: of high school before the summer.
- 3:44Speaker 2: It's this thing called ring zoo dot com.
- 3:45Speaker 3: You can see how many you game to day, and
- 3:48Speaker 3: he was getting like twenty thousand followers a day. I
- 3:50Speaker 3: was like, no, I have a like I mean like
- 3:52Speaker 3: every day he dropping like two videos. They getting like
- 3:55Speaker 3: ten million loops. This is crazy.
- 3:58Speaker 1: So I had.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Just start trying to make a video every day, regardless
- 4:03Speaker 3: what the idea was and how like stupid it may seem.
- 4:06Speaker 3: And then they started like latching on. And then senior year,
- 4:10Speaker 3: I just knew I wasn't going to college because of mine.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Well I didn't like school. Oh okay, I was doing
- 4:15Speaker 3: horrible in school really yeah, I wasn't paying attention.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so it was like.
- 4:22Speaker 2: It was just like I'd be up because I haven't
- 4:24Speaker 2: sawn me.
- 4:25Speaker 3: I'd be up at night go to school. And they
- 4:29Speaker 3: didn't make it no better because I had a job.
- 4:30Speaker 3: I was wearing a little seasons And if you had
- 4:32Speaker 3: a job, you could leave school two hours early. Oh
- 4:35Speaker 3: I'll go to school from like seven to eleven eleven
- 4:38Speaker 3: am and leave.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Why could you just leave early because it's like you
- 4:42Speaker 1: got real life already.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Yes, so you could have elective.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Oh so my elective took up my last two hours
- 4:46Speaker 3: because I only have four court classes, So I knock
- 4:49Speaker 3: all my four classes out and then lunch would start.
- 4:52Speaker 3: But while I go to lunch, if I'm not coming
- 4:54Speaker 3: back last, so I just leave at eleven and then
- 4:57Speaker 3: feel like a YouTube video wow, and then I go
- 5:00Speaker 3: to work at like four o'clock.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Dangn you the whole life. Yeah, sixteen Yeah, two jobs basically. Yeah,
- 5:09Speaker 1: because creating content is especially at Vine, and that's why
- 5:13Speaker 1: I don't know if y'all ever created vines at the time,
- 5:15Speaker 1: when you were doing it, you had to shoot and
- 5:17Speaker 1: edit inside a vine, yeah, and it was there was
- 5:20Speaker 1: no app outside at the very beginning. You had to
- 5:22Speaker 1: like if you mess up, you able to delete it,
- 5:24Speaker 1: like you was really doing that and then going to work.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a lot. I mean it wasn't that hard.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Like since I had been on Vine since the first
- 5:33Speaker 3: year came out, you kind of knew what you needed
- 5:36Speaker 3: to do and like how to do the cut scenes
- 5:38Speaker 3: and stuff like that. But there definitely was like third
- 5:40Speaker 3: party apps that you could download and pay.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Yeah, eventually I remember there was like stuff you could do,
- 5:44Speaker 1: but early, early, no earlier.
- 5:46Speaker 3: It was disgusting. It was because if you get a
- 5:48Speaker 3: take it right, but you hear like a go at
- 5:50Speaker 3: the beginning, it's like, yeah, I just got to leave
- 5:51Speaker 3: it in there.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I don't know, but it changed.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I think they I think by the time, like like
- 5:58Speaker 3: I said, when it started popping, like and I was
- 6:00Speaker 3: gaining a lot of followers and gained a lot of trash,
- 6:02Speaker 3: was like it was the last year of Vine, okay,
- 6:05Speaker 3: because Vine got deleted when I graduatedro high school.
- 6:08Speaker 1: So Vine was only what was it only like three
- 6:10Speaker 1: or four years?
- 6:11Speaker 3: Yeah, because it came out when I was in ninth
- 6:12Speaker 3: grade and it got deleted when I graduated.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Dang, I didn't realize it was that shorter time. I
- 6:18Speaker 1: felt like it was longer than that.
- 6:19Speaker 2: No, it was very sure.
- 6:21Speaker 1: It just was so social, like some people who were
- 6:24Speaker 1: viners are still looking Paul, the Paul Brothers, Uh Katie
- 6:28Speaker 1: Donna found on Vine. King Batch started on I mean
- 6:32Speaker 1: like a lot of people right you as well? So
- 6:35Speaker 1: what was that like? Were you getting brandos and stuff
- 6:38Speaker 1: at that time?
- 6:39Speaker 2: No, I said, nigga too much for That's still my
- 6:45Speaker 2: problem to this daydog. Yeah, they was like, let the
- 6:50Speaker 2: cut to the word.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I don't know, and you know how like the thing
- 6:55Speaker 3: is to get like branded deals for a six second video,
- 6:58Speaker 3: Like it's hard to convince somebody that I should pay you.
- 7:02Speaker 3: It's disgusting, Like there's like there's nothing I could do
- 7:05Speaker 3: in that six seconds to convince somebody.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, so were you getting was it YouTube paying
- 7:10Speaker 1: you at the time? Are you just doing it for love?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Then?
- 7:12Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it was definitely for the love.
- 7:15Speaker 2: It's definitely.
- 7:17Speaker 1: YouTube is faming.
- 7:18Speaker 3: But it was like YouTube checks yeah yeah, yeah, So
- 7:20Speaker 3: it wasn't nothing that was like changing my life, but
- 7:24Speaker 3: there definitely was that.
- 7:25Speaker 2: It was.
- 7:25Speaker 3: It was a company called Collapse yea, I remember the
- 7:28Speaker 3: people that would do vine compilations.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Yep.
- 7:30Speaker 3: So then they basically would just take the revenue that
- 7:32Speaker 3: those people were making for the vine compilations and give
- 7:34Speaker 3: it to you, excluding my property, and then give it
- 7:36Speaker 3: to us.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Was that good money? Yes? Really it was great money.
- 7:40Speaker 1: It was great money.
- 7:41Speaker 2: It was great.
- 7:45Speaker 3: That's what I was bro because I didn't even think
- 7:48Speaker 3: about that of that stuff. Yeah, just making I'm not
- 7:50Speaker 3: because there was no way to monetize on right, right,
- 7:53Speaker 3: So they like, yeah, we monetage your content, uh, and
- 7:57Speaker 3: it will take anybody who has your videos and these
- 8:00Speaker 3: are like thirty minute videos with like two million beauty,
- 8:04Speaker 3: and it would be like a bunch of them, you
- 8:05Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. And I remember the first check
- 8:09Speaker 3: was straight.
- 8:10Speaker 2: I'm in.
- 8:10Speaker 3: I'm a senior in high school, right, I'm working at
- 8:12Speaker 3: a little seasons. I'm w and I hate im like
- 8:16Speaker 3: I'm doing this like the board outside, that's what you're doing. Yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 3: I was cooking inside too, But like if you yeaheah,
- 8:23Speaker 3: you were. It wasn't crazy effort, like it was like hey, guys,
- 8:27Speaker 3: hot and ready, but it was you know what I mean.
- 8:29Speaker 1: You were one of those people who was like this
- 8:30Speaker 1: is my craft.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Oh No, I wasn't.
- 8:32Speaker 1: No, no, not at all.
- 8:33Speaker 3: But it definitely was embarrassing because it was like two
- 8:36Speaker 3: minutes away from my high school. Oh and this is
- 8:38Speaker 3: by the time, I never talked about what I did
- 8:40Speaker 3: on social media, but because I'm a senior now, because
- 8:43Speaker 3: it was like blowing up. People in school now know
- 8:46Speaker 3: of me without me ever having spoken to him because
- 8:48Speaker 3: of Vine.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And so that that that collapse check came in and
- 8:52Speaker 2: changed my life.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Did you throw the side down?
- 8:54Speaker 2: No? They fired me.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Why the manager didn't like me, he said, I can't
- 8:59Speaker 3: give enough effort. But it was like, nigga, bro, we
- 9:02Speaker 3: make pizzas. You over me Like he wanted me to
- 9:06Speaker 3: just be like enthused, and it's like, Bro, the thing is,
- 9:10Speaker 3: I'm doing my job.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Like you don't know what a rush looks like to you.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Are in the middle of Dearborn, Michigan during Ramanan.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Yeah, making a million vegetarian pizzas and we got Hallo Pepperoni.
- 9:21Speaker 2: So it's just both burners on.
- 9:24Speaker 3: I'm cutting pizzas, I'm making the pizzas, I'm building the boxes,
- 9:29Speaker 3: and I'm taking orders.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It's nothing else. I'm not going.
- 9:31Speaker 3: I have nothing else to give you. My my, my
- 9:34Speaker 3: enthusiasm is gone because we just cleaned out all the utensils.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Starts saying the sundown, We're about the clothes. You just
- 9:44Speaker 3: it's like fifteen orders of pizza per family. It was disgusting.
- 9:50Speaker 1: This is like out of context saying, you know, we
- 9:55Speaker 1: have allow of pepperoni. Funny in the context the story,
- 10:00Speaker 1: it makes perfect sense. But out of context, I never
- 10:03Speaker 1: thought out to hear you saying, you know, we had
- 10:04Speaker 1: a lot of Bro, they're hitting us up and there's
- 10:09Speaker 1: a five dollars hot. Yeah. Yeah, we got a lot
- 10:12Speaker 1: of going crazy.
- 10:13Speaker 3: And the problem is it's like, well, people don't understand
- 10:16Speaker 3: about Jesus, which is why I hate it work here.
- 10:20Speaker 2: It's like a fast food pizza place. That's how people
- 10:23Speaker 2: treat it. They'd be like, oh, yeah, what we we
- 10:26Speaker 2: run at High Rais. We gotta make more and.
- 10:28Speaker 3: A pizza doesn't get made in fucking two minutes, you
- 10:30Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. So it's like then we gotta
- 10:32Speaker 3: mix like because they make like they prep them. It'd
- 10:35Speaker 3: be like forty in like a little stack. Yeah, and
- 10:38Speaker 3: then they'll already have like probably like ten fifteen depending
- 10:40Speaker 3: on them hour. Yeah, and then they'll throw twenty high
- 10:44Speaker 3: radies in. But then we get like a custom order
- 10:45Speaker 3: where we need like ten vegetarian pizzas. We got to
- 10:49Speaker 3: wait till the High Rais. You got the way you
- 10:50Speaker 3: gotta bake them too exactly, we gotta bake them then
- 10:53Speaker 3: church people coming well done.
- 10:55Speaker 2: It's just too much.
- 10:56Speaker 1: You can order pizza well done?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yeah what you mean?
- 10:58Speaker 1: I didn't know you had a choice. Little Caesars. It's
- 11:00Speaker 1: five dollars whatever I hand you.
- 11:03Speaker 2: That's the problem.
- 11:04Speaker 3: People think that's the only thing we got, so we'd
- 11:07Speaker 3: just be running out of pizzas and we won't got
- 11:09Speaker 3: hot and ready.
- 11:10Speaker 2: It's like they turn into like Black Friday customers.
- 11:13Speaker 3: They just get very upset.
- 11:15Speaker 2: No, it's disgusting, little just getting abused by.
- 11:21Speaker 3: You know how you go to look like if you
- 11:22Speaker 3: went to McDonald's, like fries and then like, oh, we
- 11:24Speaker 3: ain't got any fries right now, got fries, it's your
- 11:26Speaker 3: whole things go narchries.
- 11:28Speaker 2: You got Little Seasars, it ain't.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Got hot ready.
- 11:29Speaker 3: It's like you got HoTT and ready. It's hot and
- 11:32Speaker 3: ready pizza pizza, you know what I mean? So's I
- 11:34Speaker 3: seen the commercial man find out a hot and ready
- 11:38Speaker 3: pizza pizza.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Can't go to five your part is hot and ready,
- 11:42Speaker 1: and the pizza pizza people be pissed when they're hungry too. Yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 1: I have it the fact that you have to go
- 11:48Speaker 1: to Little Caesars. It's not your first choice. So if
- 11:52Speaker 1: I go to Little Seasons not ready, now I'm pissed.
- 11:55Speaker 1: All I got is the five man.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Come on, that's like it is we got crazy bread.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I don't like I don't like the smell of parmesan.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I don't know if you know crazy bread that's in
- 12:07Speaker 3: this big ass bucket. And whenever you like run out
- 12:11Speaker 3: on the shaker, you gotta dip your whole head in
- 12:13Speaker 3: the bucket. So I just go home in my two
- 12:16Speaker 3: thousand and three cord An orange T shirt with a
- 12:19Speaker 3: little Caesars man on it, smelling like parmesan.
- 12:22Speaker 2: For the whole day. And it just was, it just
- 12:25Speaker 2: wasn't cutting it. Dog Little Seasons, Hell, I love those seasons.
- 12:30Speaker 3: If I could own a Little Seasons, I would, really,
- 12:32Speaker 3: but I never working one again. Oh my god, that's bigger.
- 12:36Speaker 1: It's bigger. Bigger is the playing Little Seazars arena now?
- 12:40Speaker 3: Yeah, Little Seasons from you trot though.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I didn't know that Little Seasons was gone for like
- 12:44Speaker 1: eleven years. It was not it was going out here.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Oh it never left Detroit. That ship got us through
- 12:49Speaker 1: the recession.
- 12:51Speaker 3: The recession, yea, yeah, it was Little Seasons and Boulet
- 12:54Speaker 3: movies and that ship got us through.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Little Seedars held us down.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Five dollars and it never changed. It's like six dollars now, yeah,
- 13:04Speaker 2: fine enough, do what you need to do. You've paid
- 13:07Speaker 2: your dudes.
- 13:08Speaker 1: When I used to be a youth pastor, the Little
- 13:10Speaker 1: Caesars was the only thing them kids ate. Twenty dollars
- 13:15Speaker 1: buys a lot of pizza. Who cares if it's good?
- 13:17Speaker 2: Like forty bro, and it's gonna be good though, yes, because.
- 13:22Speaker 1: You getting paid for it. You're fifteen. Shut up. He
- 13:26Speaker 1: just allowed Pepperoni, So okay, So you blow up on Vine.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I don't even know the trajectory because I feel like
- 13:36Speaker 1: after Vine, I feel like I saw you the most
- 13:39Speaker 1: on Twitter. Yeah, you in Dope Island. I mean you
- 13:44Speaker 1: have some legendary skits. I mean you and him as
- 13:52Speaker 1: God in mos I mean just Goldielocks in the Three Bears,
- 13:56Speaker 1: just and the funny thing was like you, the production
- 14:00Speaker 1: value was non existent, but the videos were so funny
- 14:06Speaker 1: it didn't matter your funniness, I don't I always tell
- 14:11Speaker 1: people A lot of times, people think I need this
- 14:14Speaker 1: right camera, the red ari. If you are funny, you
- 14:18Speaker 1: can have low quality. If you're not funny, it doesn't
- 14:22Speaker 1: matter if Steven Spielberg shoots your video. You're not funny.
- 14:25Speaker 1: People will deal with a lot if the funniness is
- 14:29Speaker 1: worth it, and you and his videos were worth it.
- 14:32Speaker 1: So tell me what it was like to pop again.
- 14:35Speaker 1: And you guys were just trending and trending and trending.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I mean, like, what was that like at that time
- 14:41Speaker 1: because you were very young still and going crazy.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I couldn't drink alcohol, like when one like the
- 14:47Speaker 3: Adam Eve came out, we were like twenty.
- 14:53Speaker 1: But uh, it's very hard here. I wasn't understanding all
- 14:58Speaker 1: you were in time. I just don't. You are much
- 15:03Speaker 1: closer to my children's age than mine. You are closer
- 15:06Speaker 1: than my son's age than you are to my age. Yeah,
- 15:09Speaker 1: how did you think I was thirty? Don't know, Beach,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I don't know. Let's not focus on it. It's a
- 15:14Speaker 1: big source spot for me. My son is driving. Tell
- 15:17Speaker 1: me about how you felt when you're blowing up again
- 15:20Speaker 1: on another platform. It felt good, I.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Mean it didn't really like I want to say. When
- 15:25Speaker 3: I first moved here to La that was right when
- 15:28Speaker 3: Vaughn got deleted, Like I got deleted that summer, so
- 15:31Speaker 3: that I moved here in November.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And I was just living here for a year and
- 15:35Speaker 2: I really know what to do.
- 15:37Speaker 3: I was an acting class. I really enjoy acting class.
- 15:40Speaker 3: But it was just like I was living with five
- 15:42Speaker 3: other people. So it's hard to like have my scene
- 15:44Speaker 3: partner come over and practice and have some type of
- 15:46Speaker 3: quiet space. So I kind of gave up on that.
- 15:48Speaker 3: I really didn't know what I want to do, but
- 15:49Speaker 3: I knew I didn't want to go to college. Yeap,
- 15:51Speaker 3: So I just came out here and I told Angela,
- 15:53Speaker 3: I'm like, you move out here, let's get together, get
- 15:55Speaker 3: apartment together, and we do that. Yeah, And I had
- 15:59Speaker 3: I not that I had already been doing YouTube still,
- 16:02Speaker 3: like more full time because vine was going. But uh,
- 16:06Speaker 3: I'm like, we should make YouTube channel together because we'd
- 16:09Speaker 3: been best friends since a pride.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Oh wow, Ok, But he went to a completely different.
- 16:13Speaker 3: School than me, so we didn't see each other on
- 16:16Speaker 3: the weekdays, so our vines were never together.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Got it?
- 16:19Speaker 3: Like actual skits we made on mine were never together.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Like we posted video of it's like dancing music or
- 16:23Speaker 3: something like that. That was just because we hung out
- 16:24Speaker 3: on the weekend. But when we finally got to see
- 16:26Speaker 3: each other, we would hang out. And so I'm like
- 16:28Speaker 3: we couldlay together, we make YouTube channel and just at
- 16:31Speaker 3: the minimum pay our rent and most do whatever else.
- 16:34Speaker 1: We want to do.
- 16:36Speaker 3: And I think like the first.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Video we made was just about like fish poop.
- 16:45Speaker 3: And it was like I had cause he still lived
- 16:47Speaker 3: He still lived in Michigan at the time, so I
- 16:50Speaker 3: had when we were feeling at my mom's house and
- 16:51Speaker 3: it was just like like a fish trying to flirt
- 16:53Speaker 3: with a girl and he like poops, you know, like
- 16:55Speaker 3: the poop floats up, and it's just like it goes
- 16:58Speaker 3: into that. Now that the first video we had did
- 16:59Speaker 3: together and really well, and then we finally moved in
- 17:03Speaker 3: together and it didn't feel like anything. Honestly, I feel
- 17:06Speaker 3: like I was making stuff with my best friend and
- 17:08Speaker 3: then like you of course see where it's going, so
- 17:11Speaker 3: you're trying to keep that momentum. But it really was
- 17:14Speaker 3: just as easy as that. Like we I typically would
- 17:17Speaker 3: just have idea and Angelo like, I think we should
- 17:20Speaker 3: make a video about Goldilock and three, and.
- 17:25Speaker 2: We wouldn't have no like, no script, no, everything was improvised.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Yet I think that's how we talk to each other.
- 17:33Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 17:35Speaker 2: But like the Goldilock video, I think the only thing
- 17:36Speaker 2: like we always have how maybe how we wanted to
- 17:39Speaker 2: end or like specific parts.
- 17:41Speaker 3: So I'm like, if it was Adam and E video,
- 17:44Speaker 3: I'm like, I think it'd be funny if like Forbidding
- 17:47Speaker 3: was written on the apple, you know what I mean,
- 17:49Speaker 3: we have to prepare.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Other than that, it would just be here you start
- 17:52Speaker 2: the camera.
- 17:52Speaker 3: He started talking and now I'm just reacting to what
- 17:54Speaker 3: he's saying as Adam or Eve.
- 17:58Speaker 1: That's so y'all. I mean, the mystery makes more sense now.
- 18:02Speaker 1: But like the fact that y'all didn't prep the lines,
- 18:06Speaker 1: like y'all just vibing and it's like that funny no
- 18:09Speaker 1: writers people like, like, that's a really insane talent for
- 18:15Speaker 1: both of y'all. And then also in sane chemistry.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yeah, we're just best friends. That's how we talk.
- 18:20Speaker 3: That's actually how we naturally communicate each other. And I
- 18:22Speaker 3: think that's what made us start doing skits. Like while
- 18:25Speaker 3: we started doing it in the way that we do
- 18:27Speaker 3: it is like our level of our comedic sense. It's
- 18:30Speaker 3: the same whenever meet him talk and find something funny,
- 18:33Speaker 3: we just build on and build on it and build
- 18:34Speaker 3: on it. Like he'll say a joke, I'll say a
- 18:36Speaker 3: joke to build on that joke, and then he'll.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Continues to do that.
- 18:40Speaker 3: And I think using when we film it would be
- 18:42Speaker 3: like whoever starts it, it's kind of like what it's
- 18:45Speaker 3: kind of like improvising on stage. Yeah, so like if
- 18:48Speaker 3: I say, we're on a lawn, now you gotta ride
- 18:50Speaker 3: with me, and at any point you could take this
- 18:52Speaker 3: a whole different direction. So he'd be saying something. Now
- 18:56Speaker 3: react to what he's saying and just taking what he's
- 18:58Speaker 3: giving me and will just go with that scene until
- 19:01Speaker 3: we break character and as soon as we break care,
- 19:04Speaker 3: like what we usually do when we break care. Because
- 19:05Speaker 3: Angelo edited all the videos and that's why they were like,
- 19:09Speaker 3: I can't edit chaotics.
- 19:10Speaker 1: How he does like you know what I'm saying, I
- 19:16Speaker 1: can't edit chaotics.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Well because he like it's just it's so much happening.
- 19:22Speaker 3: And that was like the secret recipe to like, of course,
- 19:25Speaker 3: like the footage is funny. For sure, thought the footage
- 19:28Speaker 3: was funny, but it'd be like he's editing. He's like, oh,
- 19:30Speaker 3: we need a voiceover in the background here very distant
- 19:33Speaker 3: like meets you go to the back room, I'm gonna
- 19:34Speaker 3: push record at the front door and just yell and so.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Like just little stuff like that, like like Angel makes music.
- 19:42Speaker 1: So it's like, yeah, I thought I saw he's like
- 19:44Speaker 1: a rapper too.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, now he like he already knows how to
- 19:48Speaker 3: think about how it should how the sound should fill
- 19:51Speaker 3: up the space?
- 19:52Speaker 1: Got it? Did he move back to Detroit too?
- 19:53Speaker 2: No?
- 19:53Speaker 3: He lives here.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Oh he stayed here. He never went back with you.
- 19:55Speaker 3: He went back before I went back, and then when
- 19:57Speaker 3: I went back, he went back here. Oh really very stupid,
- 20:02Speaker 3: like the year. He lived there for a year and
- 20:04Speaker 3: then when I decided I was moving back, he's like yet.
- 20:11Speaker 1: So let's talk about you matter. Okay, you guys have
- 20:14Speaker 1: probably seen me where this specific hoodie and plenty of

- 22:02Speaker 1: issued by Evolved Bank and Trust member FDI C and
- 22:05Speaker 1: now back to the show. I'm gonna say it, you
- 22:11Speaker 1: feel it with insane jealousy. What yes, when it comes
- 22:15Speaker 1: to you matter you matter to me is like God
- 22:19Speaker 1: is dope. Nike, just do it. You You have created
- 22:23Speaker 1: something that is you get it immediately. But what you
- 22:30Speaker 1: specifically do well and I'm very curious how you do it.
- 22:34Speaker 1: You have these drops that are themed that are like
- 22:37Speaker 1: the University was a great one. You Matter Racing was
- 22:40Speaker 1: another great one. You had this marketing email that explained
- 22:44Speaker 1: the pre order process. I stopped doing pre orders because
- 22:46Speaker 1: I get frustrated explaining how it works and people just
- 22:51Speaker 1: ignore him. And also, I think Amazon hurts hurts us
- 22:57Speaker 1: because you are used to getting things with it in
- 23:00Speaker 1: a day or two, even if you don't realize it.
- 23:01Speaker 1: You're just used to order now and that thing comes
- 23:03Speaker 1: to like usually within seven days almost, but Amazon like
- 23:07Speaker 1: two days. So it's conditioned most people to expect it
- 23:09Speaker 1: in that amount of time. But that small businesses we
- 23:12Speaker 1: cannot operate at that speed. So pre orders taking three
- 23:16Speaker 1: or four weeks or a month, they're just like you've
- 23:20Speaker 1: stolen my money. Now, Like I can sometimes do it
- 23:23Speaker 1: with my audience, but it's sore. I don't even do it,
- 23:26Speaker 1: and it's a better business model because I can't afford
- 23:28Speaker 1: to have a whole bunch of dead shirts. I wasted
- 23:32Speaker 1: so much money on the drop because I was done
- 23:33Speaker 1: with pre orders. You don't know how much I wish
- 23:36Speaker 1: I could have pre ordered that, because if you weren't
- 23:37Speaker 1: gonna buy none, then it excitedn't have to order none.
- 23:40Speaker 1: But I ordered an excess because I'm like, this is
- 23:42Speaker 1: fit to change my family's life. Yes, and of you
- 23:47Speaker 1: are going to lose a lot of money and the
- 23:50Speaker 1: way you do this is gonna change. Forget me. Where
- 23:54Speaker 1: did you matter come from? Because I imagine it's a
- 23:58Speaker 1: big part of your business now, So what was the
- 24:01Speaker 1: idea for it? Then I'll ask more questions after you
- 24:04Speaker 1: answer this one.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Well, it's a long Wines story, long iness story you
- 24:07Speaker 3: want to.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I want the story. This is your story to tell.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I would love the version you would want to tell.
- 24:15Speaker 3: So I I'm the youngest child of three older brothers.
- 24:22Speaker 3: The one that's closest in age to me be besides,
- 24:24Speaker 3: my newest young brother is seven years.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Older than me.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Okay, so you can imagine when they're in like high
- 24:29Speaker 3: school and when they're becoming themselves. I'm still in like
- 24:33Speaker 3: second first grade, yes, because yeah, so they don't want
- 24:36Speaker 3: to hang out with me things like that versus before
- 24:38Speaker 3: when I was a kid, never closer in my age,
- 24:39Speaker 3: video games stuff like that.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so I had a lot.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I went from being like very like a lot of
- 24:44Speaker 3: people around the house always to like it just being me.
- 24:48Speaker 3: My parents and I would just start being on like online,
- 24:52Speaker 3: and my friend showed me this, Uh it's an online
- 24:55Speaker 3: video game called Naruto Arena and they had a forum
- 24:59Speaker 3: and and people. That's why I introduced to graphic designing,
- 25:02Speaker 3: because you know when people make like signatures that are
- 25:05Speaker 3: like images. So I was, ah, I used to do this.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I'm very young, but I torrented I pirty it photoshop.
- 25:13Speaker 1: That's why they make you subscribe now because everybody was
- 25:17Speaker 1: because it was like fire bugs. Niggas ain't got it, man,
- 25:20Speaker 1: I'm selling pizza for a liv.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Updated drop a newon what are we doing?
- 25:25Speaker 3: But I talked myself aout photoshop when I was really young,
- 25:28Speaker 3: and then when I was in like six or seventh grade,
- 25:33Speaker 3: I still was like at photoshopping, you know what I mean.
- 25:36Speaker 3: And I was a pretty like quiet reserve kid. Like
- 25:38Speaker 3: I used to want to be like an author of
- 25:40Speaker 3: like mangas, you know what I mean saying. So I
- 25:44Speaker 3: didn't make a lot of friends through like being social.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I made a lot of friends from like being a
- 25:50Speaker 3: kid on Facebook that will like design your propibity.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Got it? Okay?
- 25:56Speaker 2: So through like me doing that work.
- 25:59Speaker 3: On Photoshop and then posting on Facebook, I like gotten
- 26:01Speaker 3: this Facebook group for graphic designers. And I always try
- 26:06Speaker 3: and figure out a way to like monetize graphic designing.
- 26:09Speaker 3: And I think that might just be like from me
- 26:11Speaker 3: being like coming from the parents I come from, like
- 26:13Speaker 3: always looking for a way to like hustle.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 26:17Speaker 3: My mom used to go to like Canal Street and
- 26:20Speaker 3: like Michael Jordan Jerry's sell them in our basement, you
- 26:23Speaker 3: know what I.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Mean, filip from like that. So I always just had
- 26:26Speaker 2: that in my mind.
- 26:27Speaker 3: And this dude in there had a clothing run and
- 26:30Speaker 3: he was using one of those sites where you upload design,
- 26:32Speaker 3: send people to it, you get your commission off of it,
- 26:34Speaker 3: and they handle everything. So that's where I introduced to
- 26:37Speaker 3: like using to where creating clothing was a medium I
- 26:42Speaker 3: would use to express anything I wanted to, like say, Okay,
- 26:45Speaker 3: So I was doing that in like seventh, eighth grade,
- 26:47Speaker 3: ninth grade, tenth grade, all the way through like to
- 26:50Speaker 3: now that's where I gonna start with clothing. And I've
- 26:54Speaker 3: been someone that struggles with depression and like mental health
- 27:00Speaker 3: issues with that, like anxiety or insomnia, since maybe I
- 27:04Speaker 3: was in sixth grade, okay, and so.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I just I never felt like that was a safe place.
- 27:09Speaker 3: I never felt like that was a thing I could
- 27:11Speaker 3: talk about, you know what I mean, Because your world
- 27:13Speaker 3: is as limited as usually the walls that you're in.
- 27:16Speaker 3: So that's like my home, and back then it wasn't
- 27:19Speaker 3: like you talk about stuff like that, you know what
- 27:20Speaker 3: I mean. And so I escaped towards like Tumblr, and
- 27:24Speaker 3: I would like write my poems and post my poems
- 27:27Speaker 3: on tumblring like share very raw feelings.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Same time Vaughn is working, so like I'm being loved
- 27:34Speaker 2: on for.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Like a specific part of me, which is like the
- 27:36Speaker 3: comedy that's coming from pain yep. And I just got
- 27:40Speaker 3: used to show an that side. So I stopped doing
- 27:42Speaker 3: all that together, you know. But Tumble's a bit underground
- 27:44Speaker 3: versus like Facebook or Instagram like that, so it never
- 27:47Speaker 3: really hit the masses until I want to say, like
- 27:50Speaker 3: maybe eleventh grade, I had said something, but I still
- 27:54Speaker 3: have a little bit of followers, and I had stopped
- 27:56Speaker 3: that in my tracks when I mentioned something about my
- 27:58Speaker 3: mental health because someone in school was like, and what
- 28:00Speaker 3: was going on?
- 28:01Speaker 2: Like your tweet like tweet that you want to kill yourself?
- 28:03Speaker 3: And I couldn't. I couldn't deal with it in real life.
- 28:08Speaker 3: It was easier for me to post on social media.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Strangers might give me, regardless of stranger responding strangers. If
- 28:15Speaker 3: someone I can see every day in school to know
- 28:17Speaker 3: something like that about me, I was scared. Yeah, I
- 28:20Speaker 3: like backed away from him for a while, and I
- 28:23Speaker 3: was just struggling a lot twelfth grade year because I
- 28:25Speaker 3: knew I did horrible on SAT. I knew I wasn't
- 28:29Speaker 3: going to college. I didn't apply to any college at
- 28:32Speaker 3: any point. And there's a lot of pressure too, you know,
- 28:35Speaker 3: like people around like you're gonna make six second videos
- 28:37Speaker 3: the rest of your life, or like, you know what
- 28:38Speaker 3: I mean, My dad like what's your plan?
- 28:40Speaker 2: I don't have a plan, you know what I mean?
- 28:43Speaker 3: And I went back to going to closing a little
- 28:47Speaker 3: bit after I had like I always used to write
- 28:49Speaker 3: like in my journal when you write poetry, Like I
- 28:52Speaker 3: love writing things down to the point where I had
- 28:55Speaker 3: a chalkboard wall.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Oh really, I've made my.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Give me a drug world war. So I was writing
- 29:01Speaker 3: stuff down, but I had like a post it and
- 29:04Speaker 3: I was just writing down like affirmations for myself.
- 29:07Speaker 2: But I kept ending it with like matters.
- 29:08Speaker 3: So like if you look at the first you matter
- 29:10Speaker 3: who the ideas, it's like your emotions, your mental health,
- 29:13Speaker 3: like things like that are on this bicep. Because those
- 29:16Speaker 3: are the things that I was relating to. Is like
- 29:18Speaker 3: my creative creativity means something, you know what I mean.
- 29:21Speaker 3: And like when I finally looked back at it, after
- 29:24Speaker 3: I was done with that moment, after I like was
- 29:26Speaker 3: a little bit okay, Like when I found those stick
- 29:28Speaker 3: you know, something like oh this like encompasses me, Like
- 29:31Speaker 3: it's not just the funny you're You're not just the
- 29:33Speaker 3: funny part of me, not just a sad part of me,
- 29:35Speaker 3: Like the whole being that I am mean something to
- 29:38Speaker 3: his world and that's where you matter him from.
- 29:40Speaker 1: That's beautiful, that's amazing. So let me understand this because
- 29:44Speaker 1: I feel like I'm picking this up. Do you actually design.
- 29:47Speaker 2: These most of them.
- 29:51Speaker 3: If I need like help, I have like friends that
- 29:53Speaker 3: do graphic designer, but they're all like typography, so it's
- 29:56Speaker 3: pretty easy for me to do. And if not, i'll
- 29:59Speaker 3: like like the try stuff like I drew that down,
- 30:01Speaker 3: like how underlogan is into a friend and he did it,
- 30:04Speaker 3: or like the racing like the same thing. I drew
- 30:06Speaker 3: it down and friend turned into like a graphic and
- 30:09Speaker 3: we turned into a tech pack and then it gets produced.
- 30:12Speaker 3: But most stuff, yeah.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Wow, I knew you were talented. I knew, but I
- 30:21Speaker 1: did I didn't know you were the actual designer for
- 30:23Speaker 1: a lot of these. I like doing the marketing more though,
- 30:26Speaker 1: let me tell you and I'm I'm listen. One thing
- 30:30Speaker 1: I'm really good at is marketing, right. It's probably one
- 30:33Speaker 1: of my better skills, more than being funny or many
- 30:35Speaker 1: other things. I can sell you on something. Do you
- 30:39Speaker 1: matter marketing? You just you get it smart, it's fun,
- 30:45Speaker 1: it's young, You've spread the gamut of people with looks,
- 30:48Speaker 1: you've got, disability, you've got you really went to college
- 30:51Speaker 1: for the you mat a university. Probably my favorite campaign
- 30:54Speaker 1: that was just I was just filled with rage, like pride, jail,
- 31:00Speaker 1: let's get a rage because I was like, I can't
- 31:02Speaker 1: do this as well. It was around the time I
- 31:04Speaker 1: was sucking so bad at that merch. But where do
- 31:08Speaker 1: you think that marketing thing came from? Because I've seen athletes, actors,
- 31:14Speaker 1: NBA PO, I mean, I've seen everybody rocking you Matter
- 31:17Speaker 1: stuff like it connects to a lot of people, and
- 31:20Speaker 1: that all started in your mind. Like where do you
- 31:23Speaker 1: think that innate marketing skill? Like obviously didn't go to
- 31:26Speaker 1: college for it, Like where did it come from?
- 31:30Speaker 2: I don't know. I think I'm just genuine. I think
- 31:32Speaker 2: that's really all it is. And like.
- 31:35Speaker 3: I don't try to like ifever I release something that's
- 31:38Speaker 3: not like you Matter started because of me, started from
- 31:42Speaker 3: my story.
- 31:42Speaker 2: So I don't want to be the poster child for this.
- 31:45Speaker 3: But like I know, Okay, someone might be out there
- 31:48Speaker 3: and they might not feel like anyone else insists are
- 31:50Speaker 3: going through in relation to their depression.
- 31:53Speaker 2: So like when I did you mat at university? I'm like, bro,
- 31:55Speaker 2: I didn't go to college, and.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Like I'm speaking at these schools and I don't get
- 31:59Speaker 3: to say I'm coming from my home mater, like I
- 32:01Speaker 3: have no home or foundation. So the first thought I
- 32:05Speaker 3: have of that is like, well, this is what I
- 32:08Speaker 3: decided to do my time instead of going to college,
- 32:10Speaker 3: the matter is could be my university. Yeah, and then
- 32:14Speaker 3: from there it just went to that, you know what
- 32:16Speaker 3: I mean. But I always imagine, like what was school
- 32:19Speaker 3: looked like? If I like, what was I never got
- 32:21Speaker 3: to go to like these parties?
- 32:22Speaker 2: I never you know what I mean.
- 32:24Speaker 3: It was at a cafe on campus. Like I don't
- 32:26Speaker 3: have any of those experiences. So the first time we
- 32:28Speaker 3: introduce you matter of university, it was very important to
- 32:31Speaker 3: me to like paint the picture like I want.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I believe a lot in like world building, you know
- 32:37Speaker 2: what I mean. So like the product is the product.
- 32:39Speaker 3: You don't have to buy the product, yeah, but I
- 32:42Speaker 3: want you to at least see why this product even
- 32:44Speaker 3: made it here.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I mean, Like in front of.
- 32:46Speaker 3: You, what does this represent for me?
- 32:48Speaker 1: I'm still in all this. Oh this is great, keep going.
- 32:54Speaker 2: It's it's just a matter of like it come from
- 32:57Speaker 2: a real place.
- 32:57Speaker 3: So even like the racing too, you know what I mean,
- 33:00Speaker 3: Like when we were shooting it, it was like a
- 33:03Speaker 3: lot of old school Ferraris and things like that. And
- 33:08Speaker 3: I was telling the team on board that day I'm like, yeah, like,
- 33:11Speaker 3: I like this, but I'm gonna go talk to my doctor.
- 33:13Speaker 3: My doctor is a car collector. I'm talk too, doctor,
- 33:16Speaker 3: and that's who I want to be the face of this.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Your actual doctor, Yeah, my actual doctor, doctor William Puschell.
- 33:21Speaker 3: Like he collects old school cards so like the sixties corvettes, wow,
- 33:26Speaker 3: and like has awards all over his office since I've
- 33:30Speaker 3: been a child, you know what I mean. But the
- 33:32Speaker 3: reason why I did it, you matter racing is just
- 33:34Speaker 3: because of the motor city. Yeah, so it means something
- 33:36Speaker 3: to me. So I'm like, I want this very perfectly
- 33:40Speaker 3: articulated throughout the collection. And it could be through words,
- 33:44Speaker 3: it could be through the photos, it could be through
- 33:46Speaker 3: the product. I know that, Like there's multiple ways to
- 33:48Speaker 3: communicate something, but I think a consumer or anyone viewing
- 33:52Speaker 3: something just appreciates when something is like honest.
- 33:56Speaker 1: You remind me of like Jerry Lorenzo. You're familiar with him,
- 34:02Speaker 1: Jerry Lorenzo, Rest in peace, Virgil Eyeblow, the dude who
- 34:08Speaker 1: does kiss Ronnie something Ronnie five? Yeah, me neither, but
- 34:13Speaker 1: you remind me of them. The way they the way
- 34:16Speaker 1: you see your uh company, your brand, uh, the the
- 34:23Speaker 1: attention to detail you have for like when you made
- 34:26Speaker 1: the hoodie with the satin claw right like I got
- 34:31Speaker 1: Black women. You want to protect your hair, you can
- 34:33Speaker 1: put it on. Like your attention to detail. The quality
- 34:36Speaker 1: of the stuff too, Like listen, we all start from somewhere.
- 34:39Speaker 1: A lot of us start off with guilding gilded unhooked,
- 34:42Speaker 1: a lot of us up a little Caesar.
- 34:47Speaker 2: They got ression put us through.
- 34:50Speaker 1: And also gilden has more quality. I didn't realize they
- 34:52Speaker 1: got some eye and stuff too. And you can white
- 34:55Speaker 1: label some guilded. Take that tag off. Put your niggas
- 34:57Speaker 1: won't know it's guilded unless you're in the business, right,
- 35:02Speaker 1: but you have that, say, I can see you having
- 35:04Speaker 1: that same level of success like the Running Fact Due
- 35:07Speaker 1: just did a collab with the New York Giants, and
- 35:10Speaker 1: I'm like, I can see because you're authentic, I can
- 35:12Speaker 1: see a Detroit collab with the Lions or Little Caesars
- 35:14Speaker 1: or something like that. Or I can just see your
- 35:17Speaker 1: brand getting that big. Do you feel like because you
- 35:21Speaker 1: comedically act, you do this, you cook as well, Like
- 35:25Speaker 1: I want to get to that too. Do you have
- 35:28Speaker 1: like a pull towards one or the other, or do
- 35:30Speaker 1: you just feel like, Okay, I'm gona expressed myself this way,
- 35:32Speaker 1: and then I'm expressing myself that way. You know what
- 35:34Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 35:35Speaker 2: I think, like right now.
- 35:38Speaker 3: It's just a matter of like figuring out what is
- 35:43Speaker 3: the best way to like honestly portray myself.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Okay, you know what I mean.
- 35:47Speaker 3: So, like when you matter, I've been working to continue
- 35:50Speaker 3: to separate it from me just so that like it
- 35:54Speaker 3: can exist on its own too. Okay, But I want,
- 35:57Speaker 3: like the ethos behind it allays be like things that
- 36:01Speaker 3: are like that I feel deeply about, you know what
- 36:04Speaker 3: I mean. A big thing is always like giving back,
- 36:09Speaker 3: you know what I mean, regardless of what it's about,
- 36:12Speaker 3: you know what I mean, regardless if it's directly too.
- 36:14Speaker 3: Like we donate to organization's very important to me to
- 36:17Speaker 3: also donate directly to individuals.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Is that where the scholarship came from.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Yeah, the scholarship came from that. But we had to
- 36:23Speaker 3: do Black Business Grant during Black History Month and I
- 36:27Speaker 3: was like, oh, we could probably keep this going, you
- 36:29Speaker 3: know what I mean. So I think I've done two
- 36:32Speaker 3: a year of two scholarships before, but the pool is
- 36:36Speaker 3: definitely like I feel like I wasn't.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I wasn't.
- 36:41Speaker 3: I stopped being like in the social media line life
- 36:44Speaker 3: for a little while and like now I'm not like
- 36:46Speaker 3: afraid to post anymore.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to talk about that too, Right, because
- 36:50Speaker 1: I follow you and I'm a fan. I feel like
- 36:54Speaker 1: anytime you get attacked, right, you the person from me.
- 37:00Speaker 1: And this happened also with Lizzel. This this person put
- 37:02Speaker 1: this very clear that you have your fans, people who
- 37:05Speaker 1: support you, and they will give you the benefit of doubt.
- 37:08Speaker 1: They want to listen. They have people who are on
- 37:10Speaker 1: the side and like how you respond, they're going to
- 37:12Speaker 1: decide they're gonna continue to support you or they're not.
- 37:15Speaker 1: I mean, you have people who never liked you and
- 37:17Speaker 1: they're gonna capitalize on this moment and they're just gonna
- 37:20Speaker 1: be like, ah, this nigga finally did something so early
- 37:24Speaker 1: in the you Matter thing. Let me know how much
- 37:26Speaker 1: you're comfortable talking with this if you're not with okay
- 37:29Speaker 1: earlier that you Matter history.
- 37:31Speaker 2: I was hoping you wasn't uncomfortable with me bring yet No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I think it's part of your story, right, you used
- 37:38Speaker 1: to do this thing, Like if you've ever hurt yourself
- 37:40Speaker 1: or harmed yourself, like, let me know basically, and I'll
- 37:43Speaker 1: either give you a discount or give you a free
- 37:44Speaker 1: hoodie because I've been there. And when I saw that,
- 37:46Speaker 1: I was like, oh my god, like that's I love that.
- 37:49Speaker 1: You know, that's smart, not smart, but like that's genuine.
- 37:53Speaker 1: That's what I felt like. It was genuine if you're
- 37:54Speaker 1: struggling and you know the money, because the hoodies were
- 37:57Speaker 1: like eighty bucks, right, sixty bump peoples to get on
- 37:58Speaker 1: you so tough.
- 37:59Speaker 2: About that eighty nine it was sixty, yeah, sixty.
- 38:02Speaker 1: At that time, people would be like, you're robbing me,
- 38:05Speaker 1: Like this is a product that you can choose to
- 38:08Speaker 1: buy or not. Why are you so mad? You don't
- 38:11Speaker 1: have to buy this? People be so livid. So you
- 38:14Speaker 1: would do that right, and you did it a lot.
- 38:16Speaker 1: I feel like you've done.
- 38:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:19Speaker 1: So one time on our favorite site, Twitter, that that
- 38:26Speaker 1: thought became twisted. Right. People online took your what I
- 38:33Speaker 1: feel like, took your authentic, genuine desire to give back
- 38:37Speaker 1: and to see somebody who probably isn't being seen, and
- 38:40Speaker 1: they said they put a negative spin on it, and
- 38:44Speaker 1: it was like, oh, if you hurt yourself buy my hoodeye.
- 38:46Speaker 1: He't like, you cut yourself and you do this, and
- 38:48Speaker 1: I'm like, whoa, that's not what he was saying.
- 38:52Speaker 2: But nobody cares, you know, it actually cares on Twitter,
- 38:55Speaker 2: they don't actually care.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Right. But to the person, I always say, it's not
- 39:02Speaker 1: the world, But at the time, it feels like the
- 39:04Speaker 1: world is on you. Like you feel like torches, like
- 39:09Speaker 1: they're watching to your house to like hurt you. Right,
- 39:13Speaker 1: So I want to know what was that like navigating
- 39:17Speaker 1: that which you were probably eleven years old at the time.
- 39:19Speaker 2: You boy fucking.
- 39:23Speaker 1: But you are a very young man.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I was like twenty one maybe.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Yeah, you're twenty one. You are having success, You're navigating
- 39:31Speaker 1: the Internet, and then all of a sudden you got
- 39:34Speaker 1: vitriol coming at you and you don't there's no handbook
- 39:37Speaker 1: for this. This is not the thing hardly anybody in
- 39:39Speaker 1: the world ever has to go through. Period. I know
- 39:43Speaker 1: that was terrible because I've been home the side of that,
- 39:45Speaker 1: but not even as bad as you. What was that
- 39:47Speaker 1: process like, because I know it changed how you won
- 39:51Speaker 1: the Internet.
- 39:51Speaker 3: I mean, it wasn't just that one thing. It was
- 39:54Speaker 3: like a commelation of things. Okay, you know what I
- 39:56Speaker 3: mean of like different cancelings. So I want to say
- 39:59Speaker 3: maybe it was like a building up, like it was
- 40:02Speaker 3: like and that's that's probably why it happens, because public
- 40:05Speaker 3: opinion of me changed.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Okay, you know what I mean. But I have been this.
- 40:08Speaker 3: I am the same person. I've been the same person
- 40:10Speaker 3: like to start off. That was always genuine. But at
- 40:14Speaker 3: first when I started, you matter, my my own personal growth,
- 40:19Speaker 3: like as on social media, we weren't doing like me
- 40:22Speaker 3: and love video yet.
- 40:23Speaker 2: Yeah, so the eyes that are on my Twitter completely different,
- 40:26Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 40:27Speaker 3: So it used to be like dm me and I'll
- 40:29Speaker 3: send you like a little colde and probably thirty people
- 40:31Speaker 3: a dm me, you know what I mean.
- 40:33Speaker 2: It couldn't be d It never was like dm me improved.
- 40:36Speaker 3: You have scars, just like if you've been through this,
- 40:38Speaker 3: just dm me and I'll give you a call, you
- 40:40Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 40:40Speaker 2: And so.
- 40:43Speaker 3: To go from like two hundred thousand followers on Twitter
- 40:46Speaker 3: when you're first doing this to one point seven million, Yeah,
- 40:49Speaker 3: and trying to still be like dm me for a
- 40:51Speaker 3: cold to kind not even a gatekeeper, but just to
- 40:53Speaker 3: be able to like actually get it to the right people,
- 40:56Speaker 3: so that people that aren't just scrolling past that wanna
- 40:58Speaker 3: hoodie for whatever reason, take advantage DEVI order ten hoodies
- 41:01Speaker 3: for their friends and families. Yeah, so that's why I
- 41:04Speaker 3: went from free hoodie to like forty fifty percent off,
- 41:06Speaker 3: because that's basically just me doing it for cost value,
- 41:09Speaker 3: like cost of production. And I did it every drop,
- 41:12Speaker 3: but I received positive reassurance, you know what I mean,
- 41:16Speaker 3: like this is a great idea, like tweets going viral,
- 41:18Speaker 3: respindal like this is so Jamie.
- 41:19Speaker 2: I love his brand, you know what I mean.
- 41:21Speaker 3: And at that time, like in social media in general,
- 41:23Speaker 3: when you if if you don't check like yourself and
- 41:28Speaker 3: like start to have your own idea about things, then
- 41:30Speaker 3: you're going to just get kind of like caught in
- 41:32Speaker 3: the loop of popular opinion versus popular opinion. Yes, so
- 41:36Speaker 3: I'm like, this is a good idea, let's keep doing it.
- 41:39Speaker 3: But I'm twenty I'm twenty one, you know what I mean.
- 41:41Speaker 3: So I'm not like, oh, I probably could like donate
- 41:44Speaker 3: a little bit more, or I probably could do this
- 41:46Speaker 3: or go about it like this, because I definitely like
- 41:49Speaker 3: even me not doing it now, it's not like I
- 41:50Speaker 3: don't do it anymore. And I'm like, I'm not helping
- 41:53Speaker 3: anyone because I'm not doing it the way I want
- 41:55Speaker 3: it to. I'm like, oh yeah, I definitely could do
- 41:57Speaker 3: something else, you know what I mean. I just actually
- 41:59Speaker 3: is more active then here and take this hoodie, you
- 42:02Speaker 3: know what I mean. But I'm twenty I'm twenty one,
- 42:05Speaker 3: and like the hoodies helped me even right now, you
- 42:07Speaker 3: like it's hot, right, I always had I've always like covered,
- 42:11Speaker 3: you know what i mean, just because I'm not like
- 42:13Speaker 3: I've never been comfortable like showing mo like skin, like
- 42:17Speaker 3: because I used to cut myself and like burn my
- 42:19Speaker 3: face and stuff like that. So it's I've never been
- 42:21Speaker 3: comfortable showing like like not having a hoodie on. So
- 42:24Speaker 3: it always just helped me as like a comfort item.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Got it.
- 42:28Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah, yeah, So going backwards, it was like
- 42:32Speaker 3: in June or July or something that I had like
- 42:34Speaker 3: an ID article and I'm working with what's that I'm
- 42:41Speaker 3: working with All Death for like a show, like I'm
- 42:44Speaker 3: hosting a show or something like that. All Death for
- 42:47Speaker 3: a show. I just did an I D article.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Everything is on. I got a new manager, a new agent,
- 42:53Speaker 2: I got a model agent.
- 42:56Speaker 3: So I did an article with I d I don't
- 42:59Speaker 3: like vet it dropped my quote tweeted he like I
- 43:03Speaker 3: pitched the same idea ide they didn't respond. They took
- 43:05Speaker 3: my ship and ran with it, and YadA YadA, and
- 43:08Speaker 3: everybody like, you're not gonna.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Speak up for him, speak up for another black creator.
- 43:11Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't even know what the going because
- 43:14Speaker 3: the same thing is it's like I know my agent
- 43:16Speaker 3: at the time pitched that herself, but it's not so
- 43:19Speaker 3: like it's it's may it's mental health money.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Who else like pitching me for mental health money is
- 43:27Speaker 2: not that Like.
- 43:28Speaker 1: It's like Keith Lee Man, you should do a food show,
- 43:30Speaker 1: and being like that was my idea, Like it right,
- 43:33Speaker 1: I don't want ever though about that. Maybe he should
- 43:36Speaker 1: review it and maybe do one through.
- 43:37Speaker 3: Ten exactly like, but people be like, nah, you stole
- 43:42Speaker 3: from me. So that's what happened, And he had like
- 43:45Speaker 3: DM me and so I'm like, yeah, like, what's what's
- 43:47Speaker 3: going on. I don't really know what's going on. I
- 43:49Speaker 3: can't like if I speak for you and if I
- 43:52Speaker 3: show support for you, I'm like going against them and
- 43:57Speaker 3: my agent and my manager. I don't I shouldn't mean
- 43:59Speaker 3: in the middle of this. That's what I'm trying get through.
- 44:01Speaker 3: I'm trying get through is I did nothing here. I
- 44:04Speaker 3: just showed up for work. I'm sorry. I don't know
- 44:05Speaker 3: what to do, you know what I mean. But I'm like,
- 44:07Speaker 3: I know how our end looked, D would be and
- 44:10Speaker 3: my team, so I know this was like, hey, like,
- 44:13Speaker 3: would you be interested in doing like an article with
- 44:16Speaker 3: boom boom boom and we'll see who picks it up?
- 44:18Speaker 2: And I d ended up picking it up, you know
- 44:20Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 44:20Speaker 3: But I got flagged for that because it was like
- 44:23Speaker 3: you in support he posted DMS YadA YadA, and like
- 44:27Speaker 3: I'm on set the first day of said calling him
- 44:30Speaker 3: like yo, what's up? He like, yeah, like I told you,
- 44:32Speaker 3: like you got twenty four hours responding on the post DM,
- 44:35Speaker 3: I'm like, what do you want for me out of
- 44:36Speaker 3: this situation?
- 44:37Speaker 1: Like what the fuck do you want me to do?
- 44:39Speaker 2: Like you know what I mean. So then it went
- 44:41Speaker 2: from that to I was uh.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Uh it was it became pride. So then a big
- 44:52Speaker 3: idea to me was just like I don't I don't.
- 44:54Speaker 3: I don't like when I go into Target and I
- 44:56Speaker 3: see any form of like pandering, right, I hate it.
- 45:00Speaker 2: It like makes me mad.
- 45:01Speaker 3: I forgot what I just saw in Walmart the other day,
- 45:03Speaker 3: but it was it was something stupid with like the
- 45:05Speaker 3: Pride flag on it, And I'm like, this is just like,
- 45:08Speaker 3: oh yeah, we're going to throw a Pride flag on it,
- 45:12Speaker 3: thrown eight five percent and just keep ranking it in.
- 45:15Speaker 3: So I'm like, all right, I'll do because we've done
- 45:18Speaker 3: like a shirt before, like where we donated one hundred
- 45:20Speaker 3: percent of proceeds, but like it just didn't it didn't
- 45:22Speaker 3: sell well. So I'm like, I don't even think that
- 45:25Speaker 3: like selling Pride flags would sell well. I didn't know
- 45:28Speaker 3: how to do something like I'll just sell them at
- 45:30Speaker 3: production value, which was like fifteen dollurs just so you
- 45:33Speaker 3: guys have it, Like because you've got a matter of
- 45:35Speaker 3: hood you kind of have a way to represent what
- 45:37Speaker 3: you've been throughing what like community you're a part of. Yeah,
- 45:40Speaker 3: but we do a Pride like if we do a hoodie,
- 45:42Speaker 3: it's just a hoodie. But like I've seen a lot
- 45:43Speaker 3: of people with like the taper street walls, don'ts do
- 45:46Speaker 3: a Pride flag and you guys can just have them.
- 45:48Speaker 3: It's fifteen hours. I'm not making any money off this.
- 45:50Speaker 3: I don't want to make any money off this community.
- 45:52Speaker 3: I just want to show my allegiance as well as
- 45:55Speaker 3: like give you guys something to represent yourself. And again
- 45:59Speaker 3: another thing of like good intention. It probably could have
- 46:02Speaker 3: been better like execution, but I'm twenty one and I
- 46:06Speaker 3: just want to help everybody.
- 46:07Speaker 1: Yes, you know what I mean?
- 46:08Speaker 2: Like that that part is lost on everyone at that
- 46:11Speaker 2: time too, because it's like I've been seeing you for
- 46:13Speaker 2: like eight years, you're probably like thirty.
- 46:16Speaker 1: And that's what I want people like put into perspective.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Can you imagine you the viewer because me, you can't
- 46:22Speaker 1: imagine even its life. But can you imagine you doing
- 46:25Speaker 1: what you thought was right at twenty one and one
- 46:28Speaker 1: point seven million fully realized adults judging you?
- 46:33Speaker 3: And like, god, what did I know.
- 46:35Speaker 1: At twenty one? Like what I thought was right? Luckily,
- 46:39Speaker 1: by the grace of God, I didn't have social media,
- 46:41Speaker 1: so I could make my mistakes in the dark. But
- 46:43Speaker 1: you had millions of people judging your You are still
- 46:47Speaker 1: young now, twenty five. I think your brain doesn't stop
- 46:50Speaker 1: forming into you like twenty five. Yeah, that's when twenty five,
- 46:54Speaker 1: like most of us are not prepared to do that.
- 46:57Speaker 1: And you had a lot, and when at one point
- 47:01Speaker 1: sevent million followers, that's not people who don't follow you
- 47:04Speaker 1: and who are just piling on.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly right, exactly, So, like.
- 47:08Speaker 1: It's really unfair to a person who don't like you
- 47:12Speaker 1: can do the I remember, Uh, this just happened. Like
- 47:16Speaker 1: what has happened to you is you don't realize how
- 47:19Speaker 1: much your audience is scaling. Like you can't fathom what
- 47:23Speaker 1: one point seven million people look like if they were
- 47:25Speaker 1: all together at one point. Yeah right, you can't even
- 47:28Speaker 1: where could you even fit that many people where you
- 47:29Speaker 1: could see them at all?
- 47:30Speaker 2: Nowhere?
- 47:31Speaker 1: So in your mind, it's just these videos are going crazy,
- 47:34Speaker 1: Like millions of views means millions of people are either
- 47:37Speaker 1: pressing play or watching it over and over. But your
- 47:39Speaker 1: mind can't wrap that around. So imagine that many people
- 47:43Speaker 1: being pissed off at you.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Yes, it's it's like it's I don't know, I.
- 47:49Speaker 3: Don't use Twitter for that reason, you know what I mean,
- 47:51Speaker 3: Like I'll get on and stuff like that, but like
- 47:54Speaker 3: it was very hurtful, you know what I mean, because
- 47:56Speaker 3: I just know my intentions. Yeah, I know these people
- 47:59Speaker 3: don't know me, but I'm twenty one and I just
- 48:01Speaker 3: want to be liked. Like I'm the kid that just
- 48:02Speaker 3: want to be liked, you know what I mean.
- 48:04Speaker 1: So like you were speaking my language. You don't like me,
- 48:08Speaker 1: but I'm trying so hard to be liked and be
- 48:10Speaker 1: your friend.
- 48:12Speaker 2: And the more you tried, the worst, the more they
- 48:14Speaker 2: hate you.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Like I think you're trying to be like but no, no, no, no,
- 48:17Speaker 1: but I want to do right.
- 48:19Speaker 3: And it's like the thing is too, Like there's a
- 48:21Speaker 3: certain fear that comes with that because it's like, oh,
- 48:23Speaker 3: like I didn't even think I my intention was wrong.
- 48:26Speaker 3: I think my execution was wrong. Yeah, and I'm mature
- 48:28Speaker 3: enough as a young age to know that. But I'm
- 48:31Speaker 3: like okay, Like I keep explaining the same thing over like,
- 48:33Speaker 3: cause the problem people were having with the Pride Flag
- 48:35Speaker 3: thing was you're profiting off of and I'm like, oh,
- 48:38Speaker 3: we're not. Probably in the first post it says we're
- 48:40Speaker 3: not profiting. This is cost of production. Even shipping is
- 48:44Speaker 3: already put into cost production, so it's really just fifteen
- 48:47Speaker 3: hours if anything, were losing money on shipping, but that's
- 48:49Speaker 3: about it. But I'm like, we're not doing this boom boom.
- 48:52Speaker 3: And then so I have the original like the journalists
- 48:55Speaker 3: like news coming through having on the same time, I'm
- 48:58Speaker 3: gonna hate for that. I'm hate for this, So I
- 49:00Speaker 3: close my dms. But because they used to be open
- 49:03Speaker 3: to the public just because people would reach out to
- 49:05Speaker 3: me and like the device and stuff like that, so
- 49:06Speaker 3: I still wanted to be like accessible, and so I
- 49:09Speaker 3: closed them. And so I want to say, the next
- 49:12Speaker 3: day I was on set, we had shot. I was
- 49:14Speaker 3: like interviewing people, so we shot to do that. I
- 49:16Speaker 3: was like trying like with training kids and like stuff
- 49:18Speaker 3: like that, and I'm leaving. I had been with him
- 49:20Speaker 3: all day and like a nine degree weather day, I'm
- 49:22Speaker 3: watching him like we're trying to do workouts.
- 49:25Speaker 1: On a football field nine weather in California.
- 49:28Speaker 2: I'm an uber, you know.
- 49:30Speaker 3: I checked Instagram and I check Twitter and it's a
- 49:32Speaker 3: tweet and it's like, yeah, my friend DM Demetrius about
- 49:35Speaker 3: what he was doing with the money, and this was
- 49:36Speaker 3: a response.
- 49:37Speaker 2: So it's the it's the it's the DM. And it
- 49:40Speaker 2: says like, you know, maybe you could donate to here.
- 49:43Speaker 3: And then I had closed my dms though, and that's
- 49:46Speaker 3: part of the DM, and it's but I didn't say
- 49:48Speaker 3: I never opened the DM. It just it says you
- 49:50Speaker 3: no longer have access to DM this person, but it's
- 49:53Speaker 3: because I closed my DM to.
- 49:54Speaker 1: The public if you blocked him.
- 49:55Speaker 3: Yeah, so they thought I blocked him, and I'm like,
- 49:57Speaker 3: I didn't block the person. Why are you making this
- 49:58Speaker 3: sh up? You can't block someone from d m U
- 50:01Speaker 3: unless you block them, man, So then that becomes a thing.
- 50:05Speaker 3: And then I think I told someone to shut the
- 50:07Speaker 3: fuck up.
- 50:08Speaker 1: You did do that.
- 50:09Speaker 2: I told someone to shut the fuck up.
- 50:11Speaker 3: They were trans And then it became like my followers
- 50:17Speaker 3: at the time are like, really my followers, so they're
- 50:19Speaker 3: just attacking this person. I'm not thinking, no, I'm just
- 50:22Speaker 3: upset I shut the fuck up, like y'are being stupid,
- 50:24Speaker 3: and so again like I just didn't need to do that,
- 50:27Speaker 3: as well as not realizing like my influence, so like
- 50:30Speaker 3: where this is not a one on one conversation.
- 50:32Speaker 2: If you say something like kay, shut the.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Fuck up, yes you get hurtier.
- 50:37Speaker 2: And that's just like us though.
- 50:39Speaker 3: But if I said shut the fuck up and what happened,
- 50:41Speaker 3: probably wouldn't say that. So like five minutes later, I
- 50:43Speaker 3: had deleted it all in the tweets, and I'm just like,
- 50:46Speaker 3: we need to recognize that like there's a person behind
- 50:48Speaker 3: these accounts and like not just y'all like me too,
- 50:53Speaker 3: And then I deleted the tweet. I left that tweet
- 50:56Speaker 3: and I was like, you know, like I'm someone from detroited,
- 50:58Speaker 3: Like I don't do these shenanigans like this internet back
- 51:01Speaker 3: and forth we're doing it. It doesn't like I think
- 51:03Speaker 3: my brother was in jail at that time, you know
- 51:04Speaker 3: what I mean. So I'm like, I don't give a
- 51:06Speaker 3: fuck about of you're talking about. I'm trying to help
- 51:08Speaker 3: and go about my day. But that got taken as
- 51:10Speaker 3: like did you just fucking threaten the trans person? And
- 51:12Speaker 3: I'm like, what are we talking about? So then I
- 51:15Speaker 3: just I broke down because I was dealing with the
- 51:17Speaker 3: stress from like because the producers on the show like,
- 51:19Speaker 3: you know, your energy is not there, like YadA YadA,
- 51:21Speaker 3: And that's because I'm dealing with this, yeah, and you
- 51:23Speaker 3: know what I mean, I'm like, I might lose this
- 51:25Speaker 3: fucking like big job. I'm getting attacked on Instagram and Twitter,
- 51:29Speaker 3: you know what I mean, my brothers and jail, like
- 51:31Speaker 3: you know, it was a lot on me. So I
- 51:32Speaker 3: like broke down, like Angelo like came into my room
- 51:34Speaker 3: and I was like curled in the ball. The next
- 51:36Speaker 3: day was the first day I went to therapy, like
- 51:38Speaker 3: as an adult really and yeah, so I'm dealing with
- 51:42Speaker 3: all that I just left. I was off Twitter for
- 51:44Speaker 3: like a month or two, you know what I mean.
- 51:47Speaker 3: I come back and the like, yeah, you you dost
- 51:51Speaker 3: docs docs. They like you docked this person. I'm like,
- 51:53Speaker 3: what are you talking about? And I didn't know what
- 51:54Speaker 3: docs was, But basically.
- 51:56Speaker 2: I think that means like you like leaked their personal information.
- 51:59Speaker 3: But I didn't know none of this happened, Like their
- 52:01Speaker 3: count got planned all of a sudd I didn't know
- 52:03Speaker 3: none of this happened. And so now that's like on
- 52:06Speaker 3: my shoulders from probably like me responding for four minutes
- 52:09Speaker 3: my tweeter, you know what I mean. So that became
- 52:11Speaker 3: like a whole thing, and then everything else that has
- 52:13Speaker 3: just been a continuation that. And people hate that I
- 52:15Speaker 3: have chains, they have trains like jor what is that road? Yeah,
- 52:22Speaker 3: I'm supposed to be like, I don't know. I think
- 52:25Speaker 3: it's because like I do do mental health and in
- 52:28Speaker 3: their mind, the only way I ever have made money
- 52:30Speaker 3: is from you matter to And like I don't think
- 52:34Speaker 3: they I think they forget about like how big of
- 52:36Speaker 3: influences me and a little word at the point.
- 52:39Speaker 1: You know what, I thought? Mine was bad?
- 52:45Speaker 2: Mine is horrible.
- 52:46Speaker 1: I posted me on id in I remember that. I
- 52:50Speaker 1: was like, oh, y'all, just you just gonna be mad
- 52:52Speaker 1: no matter what he does.
- 52:55Speaker 3: Just happy because I, like, I fasted the whole way through. Yeah,
- 52:58Speaker 3: no social media. I went further with my fast and
- 53:01Speaker 3: like I actually necessarily needed to. I wasn't on the media.
- 53:06Speaker 3: I was following the whole rules of the fast from
- 53:08Speaker 3: like breaking f tar at the right time and.
- 53:10Speaker 2: All that, you know what I mean.
- 53:11Speaker 3: I just felt so connected to myself to God. You
- 53:15Speaker 3: feel me like appreciative for everything I have, like in
- 53:18Speaker 3: the sense of like food, water, like my family and
- 53:21Speaker 3: so me just sharing that picture was just like.
- 53:25Speaker 2: I shouldn't have did it. It was too personal.
- 53:27Speaker 1: So when I got backlashed for it, it was even
- 53:31Speaker 1: the backlash.
- 53:31Speaker 3: What was you know, whenever someone like a career does something,
- 53:34Speaker 3: they turned, they turned, they converted to Islam. But like,
- 53:38Speaker 3: if you look at my history, I've been I've been
- 53:40Speaker 3: supporting the Muslim community in my entire like social media career.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Because I grew up in Dearmore I didn't know everyone
- 53:46Speaker 1: had a big.
- 53:47Speaker 3: One has the largest Muslim community.
- 53:50Speaker 1: And I mean really in America. I honestly thought it
- 53:55Speaker 1: was when you're saying Ramadan, I was like that, I
- 53:57Speaker 1: didn't realize Detroit was like, but if you don't go
- 54:00Speaker 1: to a place, you you don't know Philly had one
- 54:02Speaker 1: because Philly has a you know, a lot of black
- 54:04Speaker 1: people in the jobs and stuff, a lot of beers,
- 54:06Speaker 1: a lot of coofies. So I was like, is Philly
- 54:08Speaker 1: the number one? It was like, I remember that's when
- 54:10Speaker 1: I first heard, like, actually, Detroit has a big one too,
- 54:12Speaker 1: New York. You know what I'm saying. But do you
- 54:14Speaker 1: did you ever get like I feel like, all right,
- 54:18Speaker 1: I'm just done with this, all of this, Like what
- 54:21Speaker 1: made you not stop? Though? Uh?
- 54:25Speaker 2: People care about me, you know what I mean?
- 54:28Speaker 3: And like it's definitely if you look at my numbers,
- 54:31Speaker 3: it's different than it was maybe four years ago, but
- 54:33Speaker 3: it's still somebody that go on my page on YouTube
- 54:36Speaker 3: every Monday expected me to like chease him a recipe
- 54:40Speaker 3: and so like it's I enjoy doing it, and if
- 54:44Speaker 3: it has to be to a smaller audience, I might
- 54:47Speaker 3: welcome that even more because now it's between me and them,
- 54:49Speaker 3: you know what I mean? And like all my biggest
- 54:52Speaker 3: thing is community, Like I think that's the best thing
- 54:54Speaker 3: we could achieve as humans. Yeah, and so like when
- 54:58Speaker 3: I'm on Twitch and I really get to talk to
- 55:00Speaker 3: the same person, like I know their name, we actually
- 55:03Speaker 3: have a conversation. It's like how you doing today, Like,
- 55:05Speaker 3: oh yeah, I have my drivers. I can remember that
- 55:07Speaker 3: stuff because it's a smaller amount of people then were
- 55:10Speaker 3: back to the grassroots.
- 55:11Speaker 1: When I tell you my Patreon has like it is
- 55:16Speaker 1: a saving grace because I like me and you. Right,
- 55:19Speaker 1: if I offend you by mistake, we have enough report
- 55:22Speaker 1: he'd be like, that's cap He probably didn't mean to
- 55:25Speaker 1: like that. The internet does not give you that grace, right,
- 55:28Speaker 1: And sometimes they are hoping you mess up or waiting
- 55:31Speaker 1: to pounds. Right, So having an audience that gives you
- 55:35Speaker 1: that grace, Like just this past week, this Saturday, I've
- 55:38Speaker 1: been on tour for like a year. My brother just
- 55:40Speaker 1: passed away. Last year, I went on tour for a
- 55:42Speaker 1: whole year, right, And that's probably part of how I
- 55:44Speaker 1: cope with, Like work, this is what we did together
- 55:46Speaker 1: with like kind of honoring him, but just traveling and
- 55:49Speaker 1: performing is very taxing. Finished the whole year of tour,
- 55:52Speaker 1: and that week I had like a concert that I
- 55:54Speaker 1: went to, just a whole bunch of life stuff, shooting
- 55:56Speaker 1: every day, shot a commercial on all that stuff I do,
- 56:00Speaker 1: and it was time to shoot the Bonus episode on
- 56:01Speaker 1: that Saturday. So I'm like, I'm coming home from that
- 56:04Speaker 1: set and if we get off like eleven o'clock or
- 56:06Speaker 1: on their way home, it's like eleven thirty, right, And
- 56:10Speaker 1: then some food I order on Postmates was nasty and
- 56:12Speaker 1: somebody said it was good, and that was that was it.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Like at that point, there's nothing worse than somebody being like,
- 56:17Speaker 1: now this is gonna slap. And then you get home
- 56:19Speaker 1: and you're like, and now don't slap. And all the
- 56:21Speaker 1: restaurants are closed now, and I've been waiting for this.
- 56:24Speaker 1: I can deal with a lot, but you're telling me
- 56:26Speaker 1: it's Fox staring it eate. Now I'm about to not
- 56:28Speaker 1: im about to have a bad night. And it was
- 56:31Speaker 1: so she had all go here, go here, far from
- 56:34Speaker 1: my house, but it was even the Postmate range where
- 56:36Speaker 1: meat I was kissed, and I'm like, I gotta get
- 56:40Speaker 1: up and be there. I gotta get up at seven
- 56:43Speaker 1: am and I haven't slept, like bad food I got
- 56:48Speaker 1: for me. I can deal with a lot, but no food.
- 56:51Speaker 1: So I'm like, man, I'm really tired. I don't really
- 56:54Speaker 1: have the energy to do this. I haven't been like
- 56:55Speaker 1: I'm tired. So I tell the Patreon like I'm not
- 56:58Speaker 1: gonna I can't do it, and they're like, brought.
- 57:00Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 57:00Speaker 1: We good get your rest. And as an influencer creator
- 57:04Speaker 1: for a long time, you don't get that. You don't
- 57:06Speaker 1: get that it's very transactional. So I've always said that
- 57:11Speaker 1: the worst case scenario, if all I ever have is
- 57:13Speaker 1: this Patreon audience, I'll be cool and I don't need
- 57:16Speaker 1: to be rich because to be rich but your life
- 57:19Speaker 1: is like bombardment of hate and anger. Like I'd rather
- 57:23Speaker 1: be cool, Like for me, just bros, I used to
- 57:27Speaker 1: work at a bank. If I can make the money
- 57:30Speaker 1: I made at a bank doing this, I'll be happy.
- 57:33Speaker 1: I don't have to be rich because a lot of
- 57:34Speaker 1: stuff that comes with fame invisibility is terrible.
- 57:37Speaker 2: It's terrifying.
- 57:38Speaker 1: It's terrifying, and I don't want so I get what
- 57:44Speaker 1: you're saying, like I'm okay with smaller but people who care.
- 57:48Speaker 1: I'd rather have smaller people who care than big people
- 57:51Speaker 1: who are just waiting for this misstep. Want to go
- 57:53Speaker 1: at me, don't want to understand me, don't care, don't
- 57:55Speaker 1: give me no grace, no benething to doubt. That's taxing, man.
- 57:58Speaker 3: I think the most fucked up part about I'm allowed
- 58:00Speaker 3: to cuss on her, but.
- 58:03Speaker 1: You ain't got to hide the babe. I just just
- 58:06Speaker 1: hold okay, Like I took the hoodie because like I have,
- 58:09Speaker 1: but whenever I got a music like, yeah, it's meant
- 58:12Speaker 1: a lot to me what you said, he's comorable to
- 58:14Speaker 1: take the HOODIEO. We got the safe space here, we.
- 58:17Speaker 2: Got a bear on the ones and too, that's what
- 58:19Speaker 2: I gotto.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Yeah, you already cussed a lot, so to ask now
- 58:25Speaker 1: like an hour in so can I cuss because if
- 58:27Speaker 1: I have it, we should go back.
- 58:34Speaker 3: But yeah, I think that was like the hardest part
- 58:36Speaker 3: I've seen like people switch up on me that I
- 58:38Speaker 3: like know in person, you know what I mean, Like
- 58:40Speaker 3: my like my old roommate, like he another influencer, Yeah,
- 58:45Speaker 3: but like he thinks he's fucking hilarious and he tried
- 58:48Speaker 3: to say like some like corny ass punchline joke and
- 58:52Speaker 3: like he the end of the tweet is I'm happy
- 58:54Speaker 3: he cut and then it's like his prices in half
- 58:58Speaker 3: talking about like the discuy's really like you're saying you
- 59:01Speaker 3: have to cut myself and like that was like it
- 59:03Speaker 3: wasn't like we already weren't cool, like after me moving out,
- 59:06Speaker 3: but it was like damn, like we shared stories, like
- 59:10Speaker 3: you know how.
- 59:10Speaker 2: Deeply I go through things?
- 59:12Speaker 3: Yeah, how deeply you go through things like this isn't
- 59:15Speaker 3: I think that's when I realized, like I'm not a
- 59:16Speaker 3: human to a lot of these people. I'm an idea.
- 59:18Speaker 3: I'm a topic to discuss and then move on from.
- 59:21Speaker 3: Like my life is not a real thing. How this
- 59:23Speaker 3: might affect me is not a real thing, you know
- 59:25Speaker 3: what I mean? Like if I be honest, like some
- 59:29Speaker 3: of my closest friends I have to this day now
- 59:33Speaker 3: are those people that like either defended me publicly or
- 59:36Speaker 3: like we're texting me like every time something, every time
- 59:38Speaker 3: something happens on social media, like where people are like
- 59:40Speaker 3: I get back last like Little Yachty Touches texted me
- 59:43Speaker 3: really like bro, like the last time, like the Ramenah
- 59:45Speaker 3: should happened, Like I hate how much people be on you,
- 59:49Speaker 3: because I got so much love for you, and this
- 59:51Speaker 3: shit is stupid, you know what I mean, even when
- 59:52Speaker 3: it was happening before, Like Quinn Blackwell texted me, you
- 59:55Speaker 3: know what I mean, Like Angelo is the most reserve,
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: like sweethearted, like don't really have any hate his hard person.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: But he got in there when all that she was
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: having the first time, like during Black Friday, and was like,
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: y'all are fucking less than humans, Like the is wrong
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: with y'all? Yeah, and like in defense of me, you
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: know what I mean, because I can't show it on
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: social media. No one cared Like if if I show
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: that I was hurt during that time, like it's gonna
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: be worse.
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: Yeah exactly.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: They got you, exactly, lady and jentlemen, we got them.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: So I just I just got off Twitter for like
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: two three months. But like the people in my life
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: saw how it was affecting me, you know what I mean,
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: Like I'm not eating and like you know what I mean,
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: I'm losing weight and like I'm just not myself, Like
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: there's no smile in my eyes, you know what I mean.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: And so I think that's the worst part when it
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: comes to like social media like backlash.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: It's like I even hate it when I see it
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: and it's not me.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: How can y'all discuss this person life like y'all know them?
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: Bro to such a deep like part where you have
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: in real life arguments like you was there with them
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: in that room and you you know them, you know
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: what I mean?
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: Like, and then for people who know me, it was.
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: Even worse, like even if you met me once, you
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: know what I mean. If you've met me once, then
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: you know my character. I ain't never turned my back
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: on somebody on a picture. I ain't never like I'm
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: never not available for anybody, regardless of who they are,
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: you know what I mean. And so it's like seeing
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: people who like came up to me in Detroit and
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: like tweeting by the ship like yeah, I knew he was.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: I'm like, bro, I'm gonna see you.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: Like this. You're not a part of the crowd of
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: people that live in Minnesota or something that I might
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: never run into.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: I'm gonna run into you, bro, like and why are
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: we doing this?
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: Bro?
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: Like you know what I mean. But it's Detroit every
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: once in a while, like Nigga, I almost see you
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: for real.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: But that's the thing though I seen him out and
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: it was just like.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: Of course, but it's like it don't gotta beat this
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: because I got so much love in my heart everybody.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: But it's like it's like everybody want to be on
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: the right side.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Yeah, so somebody winning, I want to be with the
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: winning team, and when they losing, I don't want to
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: stand by them, you know what I mean. And it's
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: like it's like every person is gonna make mistakes, but
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: you have to look at the contents of someone's heart.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: And I feel like I've been so vulnerable and like transparent.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: About what I give a fuck about and like why
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: I do these things because like I didn't see myself
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: making it to the age of twenty five, right, you
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: know what I mean? So like I can like I
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: would be lying to you if I say, like, oh,
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: I don't value like material things, you know what I mean?
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: Like I wanted to Rowlex, you know what I mean.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: Like I want my cardial bus.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: And let me tell you what Detroit wait to have
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: a cardigal. I want my bus.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: But it's like at the end of the day, I
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: know that like none of these things will forever belong
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: to me. So like I take what I need and
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: I give the rest of the world, you know what
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: I mean. So like, if if I just need a place,
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: like to get from A to B, I'd rather and
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: like gets a card to a mother that really needed.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Like I've been trying to do some of the pistons
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: where I like give away a car, but like we
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: I'm you go. I think at nineteen, I probably gave
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: away like two hundred thousand dollars before I spent two
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: hun thousand dollars on myself. I still haven't spent two
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: hundredousands myself, you know what I mean. Like I'm sending
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: I'm giving scholarships to kids, and I got like real
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: life family that's in my life that could probably use
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: that money, you know what I mean. So it's like
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: I know that these things don't belong to me. I
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: just take what I need and the rest is for
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: everyone else.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: That's an amazing philosophy that I do not share. I
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: love that for you. But as Denzel was saying, I'm
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: leaving here with something, I'm around the way I'm leaving
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: here with something. Now I give a lot as well.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: But I love that. And I noticed you Uber here too.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: I was like this, I thought you had the bands
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: of the roles of the Phantom. That's got Let me
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: tell you right now, when you see y'a on the
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: private plane, y'all can tell me about carbon footprint. You
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: can say, I feel you. I get it. I'm flying
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: on the G six. It's my dream. Burke is burning
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: up anyway, I can't say it. Captain Planet couldn't do it,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: and he had the Planet tears. So when you see
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: me on the Clairport, baby, you gonna be mad, cause
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: I'm going there. That's my goal. But I think part
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: of you, like the person you gotta be okay with
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: people being like I don't like that about you. I
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: don't like okay, Yeah, but nigga, that's I don't know
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: you though. Like remember the Kardashians flew I say this
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: all the time during the pandemic and stuff. They were like, yeah,
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: well we going to a beach on our seven thirty seven.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: People are like, that's great. You shouldn't do that, and
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: they're like, well, we are doing it, And quietly I
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: was like, whoa, I wish like They're like, you can't
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: be bad as for COVID, like we all testing and stuff,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: but I used to really live in that. Like I
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: don't want people be mad. I don't, but at the
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: end of the day, they don't know me and they
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: won't give you the grace anyway, So you might as
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: well live your life regardless. Then just be mad. At
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: least you'll be mad for who I really am. I'm not.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: You're not gonna be mad for me trying to be
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: who I think you want me to be, because that
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: goal post is ever moving and changing. Like, with the
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: right intention, you can still piss off people. I remember
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Lizo got in trouble because she was complaining her postmates
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: older had got wrong or something, and she did what
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: most people do, and people like your platforming. She's like, Okay,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: you're right. Like you sometimes forget how big you've gotten too.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: People people think you should automatically know exactly what to
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: do in a position you've never been in, and it's
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: not like most people ever are in it, so it's
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: not like a road book or a guidebook, and you
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: want to so desperately to feel normal and be normal,
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: but you ain't.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: It's a thing too that people don't realize how new.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: Social media is yes, Like Instagram came out when I
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: was in eighth grade, eighth for seventh grade. Yeah, I'm sorry,
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Why this bothered me.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: So but for real, I remember like Instagram was only
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: for I phone, you know what I mean. So it's like, well,
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: we got Facebook was there Facebook start? I remember YouTube
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: came out like maybe two thousand and seven on stage,
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: like I remember like all that shit. It's like this
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: is still new. It's very They're still running new studies
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: for the effects of social media or how to there's
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: no like you know what I mean, like the how
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: tos of like how to be a father, how to
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: be a mother, like because people have been fucking fathers
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: and mothers this whole time and still messed that up exactly.
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: So it's like expect me to know what because this
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: is the you opposed it. Like I forget I got
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: a bill your father because I get two thousand likes. Okay,
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: the fuck that was bullshit? Fifty million likes?
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: I oh, you know what I mean.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: So it's like, bro, yeah, it definitely definitely. Uh, I'm
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: older now, you know what I mean.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: Like, like I said, I'm on social media with these
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: insecurities or with this trauma more so you know what
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: I mean. And it's not trauma that was given to me, No, no,
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: I Can's just I have younger childs, childs, and you
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: I'm used to like getting the hand me downs.
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: I'm used to like dancing in the corner and trying
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: like look at me, look at me like I'm used
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: to like needing everybody to like me.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: So so that plays so terribly for social media.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: And the thing is, I hadn't received any hate in
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: my like six years being on social media until the
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: seventy year.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: So I'm like, ain't no way he came. They came
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: so the first time.
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: Oh my god, they hate me for real. Because it
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: feel good when it's a million people like you. It
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: feel horrible when it's a million people not like you.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: You don't even know how much you're speaking to my soul.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: That's where my Patreon hurt me the most. Why can't
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: nobody like you?
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: You a good Christian man.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: I could give you a myriad of reasons why they
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: don't like me. Part of it could be because, oh
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: my god, trust me, that is myriaaud of reasons. Some
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: nigga Remember she was frankly, she was joking. She was
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: gonna keep you this one time. She was like, I
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: just be sick of care. I love my wife, I
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: love my kids. Like even that is like, people think
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: that's fake.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Niggas don't Niggas don't like niggas don't like happy home.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: They don't like straight Tyler Perry. Whoever said that, he
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: said straight, Tyler Perry, ain't funny to me, that nigga.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: That one got between the gloves. I keep my gloves up,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: but straight Tyler Perry is not that funny to me.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Their rings in my ears. One dude said it, so
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: many people thought that was funny. He said it.
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: When you said it, I thought you just said like
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: somebody would say it. Tyler Perry.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: Well, he not address.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: Straight. Tyler Perry got me right. So I want to
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: you know, gloves shit. Everybody should be funny. That should
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: be reserved for a select you. But everybody's fun But
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: it was really helpful. Actually, be like a nigga. All
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: these people don't love you. Some people want you to fail.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: That's okay for I let you go. I want to
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: talk about this cooking thing. I want to keep talking
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: to you. Just keep it going. Now, I follow you
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: just as like a fan of who Like I really
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: like who you are, so I watch your stories and
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: stuff and I remember watching I'd be like this nigga's wings,
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: these are not regular wings. Like when this nigga cooks,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: you'd be like, I'm gonna get drunk and fry some
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: shrip and I'm looking at the shrimp like, hold on
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: this nigga, really, like what what is the cooking thing?
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Because you you're not cooking like regular people, like your
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: stuff looked like you you're taking the time to really
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: cook like it looks legit. Where did this come from?
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: With it from your little seas days? Because now you've
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: turned it into a show, like you've made it hard.
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: Cooking is a very hard content. It's very hard content
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: to make it, yes, because you actually have to cook.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: You either got to pre cook or you got to
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: cooking way, or you gotta cook and shoot.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: It is hard to plan out.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: It's a lot. My girl is as Danny Rose is
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: a influencer who's a chef as well, and like being
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: on set with her, I'm like, oh my god, this
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: is the worst. It's very like for a cooking it's ridiculous.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Cooking is a lot without cameras to cook on camera
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: and be good and looks.
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: It's way too I need to cameras at this point
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: because I'm like, we keep having to go from it
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: in front of me to like yes, because I get
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: enough angles from TikTok to cut it down.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but I love cooking.
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: You have to.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: So is it just fun or is it like a
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: true desire because the Cooking show, We're supposed to do it,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: but I still want to do it. We still do it. Yeah,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: I'll come to Detroit just Yeah. Now that I'm not
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: on tour, I can do a lot of.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: Stuff that like it could just show you.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: I'm like, where the is this? You told was?
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: Why? Look at It's just I am on tour.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: For all the I'm trying not to do that anymore
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: because I lose a lot of other opportunities. Come home.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: I kissed my kids on the cheek.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: I go back out the hell.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Next year, I'm coming to Detroit just to shoot the
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: cookie show. I'll come back home.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: What was the question?
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Where did nick love for cooking come from? And the
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: desire to make it to a content?
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: I don't know. I used to just spend a lot
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: of time with my parents in the kitchen when they're
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: cook So like my mom when she would make like
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: I usually eat probably wings every Saturday or so, like
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: she just fry wings and you know we eating wash
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: like basketball.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Someone got it.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: So I just be in there like like where our
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: kitchen was said up, it's like a brier that overlooks
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: the kitchen.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: So even if I'm not in there with her, me
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: and my brothers, it's always like interesting, the food is good.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: Got it.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: And because I'm the youngest, there's a point time where
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: everybody had to cook for me, start teaching me how
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: to cook.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: So it was like, all right, that's how you make
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: robin noodles.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: Once I got tied robin noodles, it was like, all right,
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: this is how you fried potatoes. Said that I'm not
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: have for potatoes. And it's like this is how I
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: use George for me, And now I make my breath
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: is now I'm making chicken breats on George Foreman and
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: my brother. Like I'm the youngest, so I'm just looking
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: up to everybody. So like I got into like art,
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: I can draw portraits and stuff like that, because.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah, all the talent in the world.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: My brother.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: I'm young.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: So my brother's in art class arts school, and he
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: came home one day like this portrait did because he
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: that was the assignment in class.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Got it.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: I'm like, you know what, I'm gonna do that ship too,
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: and I just start drawing so to.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: Draw like, And then my other brother was in photography,
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: so then I started learning photography. That's what made me
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: know how to use a camera to do to YouTube.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Got it.
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: And then my other brother he had a colorary art
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: class in high school, so he'd come home with all
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: new like different.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: So you're just you're a true little brother. Yeah, whatever
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: your older brothers do is the best thing in the world. Yeah.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: So I'm really just like if you if you ever
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: met all my brothers at once, you could see the
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: different parts of like my personality that like were influenced
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: by them. I still have, like obviously my own personality,
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: but like it was a moment where I didn't I
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: didn't even know these things were Like I just wanted
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: to do what my big brothers were doing, you know
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: what I mean. So he had colorary class, and then
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: when I got to more high because I went to
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: a school called Rogue ninth grade year and I got
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: more high and wanted the electives. The first elected I
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: picked was woods shot class and culinary class, so that
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: I got a culinary class. You started food science, and
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: I said, this is pretty fucking interesting.
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: Serious shout up, missus. Anderson was like, we're going here.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: That makes a lot of sense. You explained it like that.
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: That makes a lot of fun sense because all these
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: things make up final product, and they all have a
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: specific bro I'm just thinking we just throwing it in there.
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: So then I just always used to cook, So I
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: think my first project for cooking class was I made
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: a crape. So I talked myself and make a crape.
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: And then from there I just saw aways love it.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: I just cooked for my friends. I get drunk. We
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: have a game nights, and I be like, I got
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: some wings. I'll get drunk while making the wings. But
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: how you were saying, it looks like I put like
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: a lot of parp into it. Just like food deserves that.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: If you're giving something to someone for them to digest,
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: it deserves the love and attention. So regardless of the
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: state of mind, man, I'm going to be locked in
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: on this food until.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: It's done.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Left the alcoholic.
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's how it be.
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: I'll be smoking ribs that should take like six seven hours,
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: and i'd just be outside drunk.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: I'm real like drunk the whole time.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: But but you go clear up enough to.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: A flipping off and we need somebody give me some
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: more wood chips. As soon as them ribs come come
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: off and I cut them up and they saw stuff.
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: Don't talk to me because I'm liable to say something
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: that you didn't. You didn't even realize I was drunk.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: You didn't even realize I've been blacked out drunk this
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: whole time. But it's like it's like a It's like
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: when people take all except it's cook God, I just
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: focused on one food thing and I just I like it.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: So I want to say and let me know if
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: I'm closer off. I follow you on TikTok and I
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: love the content you're making now is just very haphaszard.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Pick the camera up and say cut it off. Like
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: you seem to be in a cool place where you're
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: with your content, with your life, Like do you feel
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: like you're settling into Like I got a better handle
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: on this now because you seem cool. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: and you're still funny even in this version of yourself.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: I like this version too, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: It's like an album and I just make a different album, Like, well,
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: I like this one too, Like I like this this
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: place you're in now, it seems like you you settled
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: into yourself.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: Some Yeah, I think it's just come with growing up though,
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: Like you know what I mean, I didn't think that before.
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: Like when I obviously I think I know every thing,
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: you know what I mean. I have been doing social
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: media so long that I also thought I knew everything
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: about the identity I wanted for myself on social media,
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: and so it was like I never was being fake,
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: Like I never was not being myself.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: But I do think.
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: Even we're doing skits, it was like, oh, the Bible
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: shit works, Let's keep doing the Bible.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: Ship, you know what I mean.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, cool.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: So like now it's like I think I think I
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: took a break from social media. I think people rolle
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: me off, and I think now it's like I'm still
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: in his corn, still funny as fuck, still as telling
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: us I know I am, but everybody ain't just wave
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: for me. So I'm just like over here, y'all leave
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: me over here. I got the people that can about me.
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: Were gonna have a great time. So that's what's happening though.
- 1:16:46Speaker 3: Like I just cook in my house with the homies,
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: like everybody come on the show. Like somebody wanted somebody
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: I know in the with my tweets where I had
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: just did a cookie show and he was like, I
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: love how the cookie show. Whatever you had, guess is
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: just your guests bothering you while you cook. Like that's
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: because I've only had like two guests come on the show,
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: and like the reason for the guest using is like
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: show me a recipe you love, and will you make
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: it for me? And I'll show your recipe I love,
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: and I'll make it for you, and we trade our
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: recipes and now you have a recipe of mine that
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: can cook.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: If you brought me I don't know what. I'll show
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: you what I like to order a postman.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're a good Christian man.
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: No, not even that.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: I just don't want to. There's so much food that
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: people will bring to you. Yeah, I get that it's
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: hot in the kitchen. All I cook right now is
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: put on a man. No, I've been eating roasted chicken
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: and I'm able to cook. I don't find the joy.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: All you said I'm gonna make something digested. I could.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: I'll give you money.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Access service is one of my that makes more sense.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: But cook is not a love or joy for me.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Eating is.
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: The best feeling is when you you finished, get the
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: house being loud as fucking certain places, everybody just yeah,
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: I'd be staying there with my bottle.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: One go there, youth.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: It's all good. But you gave me everything I need.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: But I know I did.
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: My Mom's like, I know that ship good and the
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: motherfucker because I had tried it before I gave it
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: to you, and I know you have there fucked up.
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: And after they done, they thought they placed the way,
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: they just sit.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: Down and just who. That's not a specific moment, but
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: I know it is my favorite part. People who cook
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: love that watch it. Like people who love to cook,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: they don't even eat to satisfy themselves. They just eat
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: to taste to make sure it's good, and they want
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: you to enjoy. They could be like I did it again.
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: I had just something new with the way his last Sunday,
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: and the home came over. A few of them came over,
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: but he he said, I think he's done. I'm cleaned up.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: He's like, how long you marinate that? I said, I said, huh.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: He said, how are you marinated that? I was like,
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: probably like an hour.
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: I was like, I was the gym and I came
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: back forgot the marinated. He said, I can't gonna get
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: fucked up over at one hour marinate dog. I'm like, yeah,
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: it's just some soy sauce and apple juice and all.
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: That's a good feeling.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: Bro Oh, listen, man, this was great, meach. This was
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: the quickest hour seventeen ever. It's hours seventeen and that's

- 1:19:33Speaker 1: what we was chopping it up before. Let the people
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: who are new to you. A lot of people in

- 1:19:39Speaker 1: are new to you, let them know where to find you.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Where we going, Jesus, ain't nobody doing no work at work.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: Y'all is out here hanging out. This is what I
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: make the content for for you to be like, all right, man,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: I'm I'm at work, but I'm not working.
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: I'm at work, but I'm not working.
