- 0:12Hello friends, it's Sean here. It
- 0:15is Friday. It is the third of May. Oh,
- 0:19we've reached the end of another week. Well
- 0:21done to you. Well done. I
- 0:23hope it's been a good week. And
- 0:25I hope the weekend ahead is looking wonderful as
- 0:28well. As today we will read a Psalm
- 0:30together, Psalm 114, which is brilliant. This
- 0:34is a Psalm that in the Arabic version of the Bible
- 0:37when translated into that language, its title is
- 0:40Hallelujah, which I think says it all. This
- 0:44is a song, a Psalm that is celebrated as the Hebrew
- 0:49people celebrate their Passover because it talks
- 0:51of God rescuing their people. And
- 0:54of course, this rescue echoes forward through all
- 0:57the stories of rescue as Jesus rescues us and the
- 1:02gospel story rescues people even today. So
- 1:06let us sing this brief but very triumphant Psalm, Psalm
- 1:11114. The
- 1:43mountains skipped like rams and the hills like lambs.
- 1:47What's wrong, Red Sea? What
- 1:50made you hurry out of their way? What
- 1:53happened, Jordan River, that you turned away? Why
- 1:57mountains did you skip like rams? Why
- 2:00hills like lambs? Tremble, O earth, at the presence
- 2:06of the Lord, at the presence of the God of
- 2:09Jacob, he turned the rock into a pool of water. Yes,
- 2:16a spring of water flowed from solid rock. You
- 2:29are a saving God. Jesus, you are our savior and we
- 2:35worship you. And yes, indeed you have turned
- 2:40the rocks of our heart into an ever flowing spring
- 2:45of life giving water. You are so wonderful and you
- 2:52have rescued your people from the very beginning of
- 2:55your journey with humanity. You
- 2:56have rescued us again and again and again. And
- 3:00today we will need rescuing all over again because we
- 3:04are broken people but we are loved and rescued by
- 3:09you. So we thank you for your
- 3:12rescue. We accept the gift of your
- 3:15rescue and we praise you and we pray all of this
- 3:20in your name, Jesus. Amen.
