  - Hello and welcome to your PCJ Pop, my name is Shauna.
• 0:11
  - And I'm Olivia.
• 0:13
  - My PCJ Pop this week is something that Olivia
• 0:16
has been nagging me to read for years
• 0:20
  and I finally caved.
• 0:22
I am finally reading the Crescent City series.
• 0:26
  - by Sarah J. Maas.
• 0:27
  - So if you are under a rock and maybe not
• 0:30
in the book talk community, like you should be,
• 0:33
a Sarah J. Maas announced not one ACOTAR book,
• 0:37
  but two.
• 0:39
ACOTAR is A Court of Thorns and Roses.
• 0:42
  - For the uninitiated.
• 0:44
  (laughing)
• 0:45
  - So she announced ACOTAR six in October
• 0:48
and ACOTAR seven inside of January.
• 0:53
So that is really, really short.
• 0:54
And the reason that they're separated
• 0:56
is the book physically could not hold all of those pages.
• 1:01
And so she is doing them kind of like three months apart
• 1:04
there a little bit less than that.
• 1:06
And if you've read ACOTAR, you'd like ACOTAR,
• 1:09
you'd wanna read the six and seventh book.
• 1:11
I hate to tell you this.
• 1:12
I don't hate to tell you this.
• 1:13
  I love Crescent City.
• 1:14
You need to read Crescent City.
• 1:16
  - And that's what you have to tell me.
• 1:18
  - I was so avoidant because I'm just like,
• 1:20
  that is so many books.
• 1:22
  These books are thick.
• 1:23
  - They look so good.
• 1:24
  - Exactly.
• 1:25
  - There's a lot of pages in these bad boys.
• 1:29
The first book is called House of Earth in Blood.
• 1:31
  It came out in 2020.
• 1:33
  Very brief plot.
• 1:35
Bryce Quinlan and Hunt Athalar investigate a series
• 1:38
  of murders.
• 1:39
Along the way, they uncover a larger conspiracy
• 1:42
involving powerful rulers and a rebellion.
• 1:45
  It is adult fantasy.
• 1:47
  It's a murder mystery.
• 1:49
  I'm only halfway through it.
• 1:50
So I'm not gonna spoil it, right?
• 1:53
And Olivia's not going to because I'm still reading it.
• 1:56
This book is like 1000 pages, maybe 900 pages.
• 2:00
I'm halfway through and I am obsessed.
• 2:03
I can't put this thing down.
• 2:05
I read it and then I, oh my God.
• 2:07
And then I listen to it in the car when I'm driving.
• 2:10
  - Yeah.
• 2:11
  - Bryce and Hunt are so good.
• 2:14
Bryce reminds me of me in college.
• 2:16
She's like a party girl who lives with her best friend
• 2:20
and they just hit the town.
• 2:22
  Doesn't suffer from virginal.
• 2:24
Never done anything in my wrong.
• 2:26
  - No, she's not that virginal,
• 2:29
  innocent main character.
• 2:30
It opens and she's like, I like to do drugs.
• 2:32
  I like to drink.
• 2:33
I like to have sex with boys.
• 2:35
  Here I am.
• 2:36
My best friend likes to do it too.
• 2:36
We're gonna go on the town and look hot.
• 2:38
And I'm like, that's my girl.
• 2:39
  Let's go.
• 2:41
But you know, like I mentioned,
• 2:42
  it's a murder mystery series.
• 2:44
And so I am very into it.
• 2:46
And I'm excited to read the rest of it.
• 2:48
So I hope you listeners will join me on this journey
• 2:52
as I go through the Crescent City series
• 2:55
  by Sarah J. Mass.
• 2:58
And that is my Pop for the Week.
