- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Who?
- 0:16Welcome back to the Three O Take presented by Chinook.
- 0:18Cedry, this is episode 544. I'll be your host, Kyle Corwin.
- 0:22I'm here with my Co host Nate Reyes.
- 0:28Nate. KC How are we dog?
- 0:40Quick update on the MVPO 5 dynasty might.
- 0:45Have to call this dead. Might have to end this segment
- 0:47if you don't get a freaking dubs.
- 0:49Have yet have yet to get a win. I believe we are O.
- 0:55We're O and 10 now I believe Nolan Ryan crapped his pants yet
- 1:02again. So I said you're out of here.
- 1:05Shipped him out, got him in a got pool holes in a trade and I
- 1:12shipped out. I shipped out somebody else and
- 1:15I got, I got Mickey Mantle. I don't remember who I traded.
- 1:20I, I was trading in a blind rage.
- 1:22I was just mashing proposed trade, proposed trade, proposed
- 1:25trade. I don't remember who was
- 1:27involved. All I know is our team is like I
- 1:30think our our dynasty has like 100,000 in the bank to work with
- 1:35so. Yeah, just emptying it out.
- 1:38Yeah. I don't know what to say.
- 1:44I don't know how to advise you at this point.
- 1:46Can you change the settings? Or I can, but I I don't, I'm not
- 1:49going to do that. That's that, that's.
- 1:52All where is? Where do we draw the line?
- 1:54We're going to talk about integrity on this show and 20.
- 1:57I don't whatever it takes to to ensure that I don't.
- 2:02I don't finish with the worst record in in Major League
- 2:05history. I'm I'm essentially chasing the
- 2:07Rockies right now is what I'm doing.
- 2:09As I mentioned, that's what I'm doing.
- 2:11So just giving you a little quick update there not not good
- 2:15news to to write home about I. Don't think we need to check
- 2:20back in until the dub happens. That's fair.
- 2:25Yeah, I can agree to that. I'll agree to that.
- 2:29Story until and I'm going to be concerned if it's not before our
- 2:33trip. I, I, Yeah, I agree to that.
- 2:40Yeah. You will not hear from me about
- 2:41my MVP team, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, featuring ace Bob Gibson.
- 2:46Good. Until we get a win.
- 2:49Good. O and 10.
- 2:52You want socks and ball. Sure, why not?
- 2:55That's why we socks, socks and ball.
- 2:58Let's start with sort of a little juicy, little juicy topic
- 3:02off the top. And I mentioned integrity.
- 3:05Integrity is going to be a, a vital role to this segment.
- 3:09And I don't think even you have any idea as to what I'm
- 3:12referring to, but we're going to let's talk this Jazz Chisholm
- 3:17thing. Nate, I, I got to be honest with
- 3:21you, I'm at a point. I'm at a point now where I can
- 3:28safely say I'm, I'm out. I'm out on on jazz.
- 3:33I tried. I really did.
- 3:34I really tried. When were you ever close to
- 3:37being in? Pre Yankees days, obviously like
- 3:41I I, I try to make an effort I did, but I'm like I'm officially
- 3:47out. Whether he stays with the
- 3:48Yankees, he signs an extension. Whether I mean, and I don't even
- 3:54know that the Yankees would would offer him an extension.
- 3:56But if they did and he decided to say they're I'm still out.
- 3:59If he goes to another team, I'm still out.
- 4:03I can't do it anymore. I can't, I can't deal with the
- 4:07theatrics. I can't deal with the over the
- 4:10top showmanship and bringing it back to the integrity point.
- 4:16This is what I have to say, not that he would ever hear any of
- 4:21this anyway, but if for whatever reason caught wind of of me
- 4:28announcing the fact that I'm I'm kind of out on him.
- 4:33I don't want to be subjected to screenshots because I know that
- 4:38that's what that's the kind of guy Jazz Chism is.
- 4:40If if he's got receipts and if you come at him is is very like
- 4:44Marcus Stroman esque in that way.
- 4:48Yeah, he keeps receipts. You know he keeps receipts.
- 4:52No one's like Marcus Drummond on that way.
- 4:54Yeah, that's, hey, you know what?
- 4:56That's. No one's in that camp.
- 5:05That's a one-on-one. That's on me.
- 5:08I'll take that. Sorry.
- 5:10I was getting a little ahead of myself, but I just wanted to get
- 5:12out in front of this because I don't like I want to be free and
- 5:17clear to to say this and I just I need to get this out of the
- 5:20way. OK.
- 5:21So yes, for those that don't know, years ago we we did like
- 5:31like outside of the merch that we just had like we have now,
- 5:33like years ago, we sort of dabbled in like the team
- 5:36specific stuff. Did I say free and queer?
- 5:42No, I said free and clear. Thanks, I've lost my train of
- 5:49thought. I what was I saying?
- 5:51Oh, we did the merch. We did like team specific stuff.
- 5:54And so one of the things that we did Oh, Major League quote.
- 5:59OK, I I OK, I get the reference now.
- 6:01I was wondering if I actually said it.
- 6:04I'll get to my point eventually. So we, we did team specific
- 6:09stuff and at the time Jazz was like stop, stop with the put in
- 6:13your head, the, your head in your hand.
- 6:15I'm getting there. We did one specific for Jazz and
- 6:18it was very simple. It was Miami themed colors, the
- 6:21Miami Vice theme. It just said you like Jazz.
- 6:24And so I, I put it out on the shop did pretty well.
- 6:27I sent it, I, I messaged Jazz and I said, actually, let me
- 6:32just pull it up, 'cause I don't, I don't want him to speak here.
- 6:37I said, hey man, this was April 17th, 2021.
- 6:40I said, hey man, can we send you a shirt?
- 6:42He said send it to the stadium. I said I got you.
- 6:45He said what size you need. Out of out of respect to him,
- 6:51I'll I'll refrain from sharing what size he requested.
- 6:55I'm going to say medium. I'm going to guess.
- 6:59I said I said. I said good deal man, appreciate
- 7:03it, keep it up. And I then I sent him a a
- 7:06message in May. I said if anyone wants to know
- 7:08where they can get the shirt, just point him to us.
- 7:10Ha ha laughing emoji. Appreciate you men.
- 7:14July that year, 2021, I said, hey Jazz, let me know if you've
- 7:17got 30 minutes to hop on the pod.
- 7:18If you've got any downtime during your IL stint, we'd love
- 7:22to have you on and I know our listeners would love to hear
- 7:24from you. Didn't hear anything.
- 7:28Followed up in August. I'll followed up in August.
- 7:32Players do this to us, so I feel like.
- 7:34Not a lot. There's a there's a few that I'm
- 7:36not going to, I'm not going to name names.
- 7:38I'm only doing this because it's jazz.
- 7:39But outside of jazz, there's only been a few Truly, truly to
- 7:45the point where I've like made initial contact.
- 7:47There's guys sure guys all the time will just not even respond.
- 7:50But jazz like had responded to me in August.
- 7:54I said jazz when you coming on the pod, man, our listeners want
- 7:57you on laughing emoji and that was it.
- 8:02So again, if, if this ever caught wind of like, oh, like
- 8:07the guy who wanted me on the podcast years ago is coming
- 8:10after me, I just want to get that out in the open.
- 8:12So now I can, I can say that this whole, this whole tag
- 8:18thing, don't tell me that. Well, first of all, don't tell
- 8:23me that you're, you're OK with this response.
- 8:28Dude, come on. This was this was well over the
- 8:30top. I'll get to my thoughts, I mean.
- 8:34I OK, well, I've talked long enough.
- 8:36We can come back, interject, interject with your thoughts.
- 8:40What do you got? I, I don't think it's that big
- 8:43of a deal. I think I mean it goes back to
- 8:45last year and that's what the whole, you know, Michael,
- 8:48Michael Garcia stuff has come to and there's been a few different
- 8:53collisions. Obviously one of those being
- 8:55like benches clearing incident. You know, I can see where like
- 9:11Michael Garcia probably would have gotten upset with like the
- 9:13Volpe tag last year. But as far as like this Jazz 1,
- 9:20I don't know. I mean it like the helmet comes
- 9:23off. It's a bang, bang play.
- 9:27Like I I don't think you really like in the moment fully can see
- 9:33what's going on if your helmet is like over your eyes, like you
- 9:35don't, you don't know if that's a knee.
- 9:37You don't know if it's like A tag, you don't.
- 9:39It's just like it happened so fast.
- 9:41So I think he probably just misinterpreted what occurred and
- 9:47then those were his comments. So like, I don't know if he got
- 9:51a chance, has like since gotten a chance to like review and like
- 9:55actually look at the replay and be like, Oh yeah, like this was
- 9:59clearly like incidental. And he but that's to my point.
- 10:03Do you think Jazz is going to be the kind of guy that comes out
- 10:05and it's like, hey, that's, that's that's my bad.
- 10:08That's my bad. Let's keep playing ball.
- 10:09I think if it was anyone else except Michael Garcia, then yes.
- 10:13But the fact that it is Michael Garcia and the fact that there
- 10:16has been a little bit of history and one of those being in the
- 10:20the LDS, like maybe that's where this is coming from.
- 10:27I think if it was anyone else on the field that was wearing a
- 10:30Royals uniform, this would have been fine.
- 10:34I don't know. I don't, I feel like this.
- 10:36I don't even know why it's being talked about this much like I
- 10:38watched it live. Well, it was the like, it was
- 10:41the response, man. Like it's, it's just, it's so
- 10:45unnecessary. It's so like fake tough guy.
- 10:48He gets up and for some reason starts talking to his to the
- 10:53third base coach. What?
- 10:57What's his face? Rojas, right.
- 10:59Yeah, He he's talking to him. He looks at him and he's like,
- 11:02I'm going to tell you one more time.
- 11:04As if like this was a continuation of a conversation
- 11:08they were having in the dugout or something.
- 11:10It was, I don't know, it was a weird thing to say.
- 11:11I'm going to I'm going to tell you one more time.
- 11:13If he slaps me like that again, I'm going to I'm going to slap
- 11:17the F out of him. I'm like, what a like what a
- 11:21cornball thing to say. And it's just this isn't like an
- 11:24isolated event. And I think that's why it's
- 11:26getting talked about is because Jazz has moments like this where
- 11:29it like the whole free smoke thing the other day that he put
- 11:32on his story. And then I think like he's had
- 11:35moments like this where it's the fake tough guy thing.
- 11:37And then he'll proceed to go like over 4 or he'll go on a run
- 11:41where he he goes like 2 for 18 or something like that.
- 11:46To your point, it it happened so fast that for Michael Garcia to
- 11:51slap him that hard, that would imply that Jazz Chisholm was
- 11:54slow enough to the point where Michael Garcia was quick had
- 11:58enough time to receive the ball, lift the glove up to create
- 12:02force of momentum and drop it down on his head.
- 12:10That's what I'm saying. Like as a baserunner, you don't
- 12:12see that stuff. So like, I think you just you
- 12:15slide in and your helmet comes off and you know, it wasn't you
- 12:19jarring your helmet loose like I I just, I don't think you saw
- 12:22what happened. I don't think I mean you're not
- 12:24seeing any of that in a split second.
- 12:27So I think it was probably like a pre.
- 12:36Is this position, the word that like you, you feel like, hey, I
- 12:42know I'm going to steal this bag if there is another occurrence
- 12:45with him, like, you know what I mean?
- 12:47Like I wonder if there was just like a pre.
- 12:51You know what I'm saying? Like he had in his head.
- 12:54I don't know, I, I don't even care.
- 12:56I don't the Royals don't mean anything to me as far as like
- 13:01competition goes. Like I, I just, I don't see any
- 13:06of this actually holding water. Seems all very manufactured.
- 13:11It seemed manufactured when Michael Garcia was starting
- 13:15stuff initially. And then it's just it's kind of
- 13:18like started turning into more and more any play that involves
- 13:22them. Right, but I guess I just made
- 13:24a. Insane double play to get out of
- 13:28bases loaded jam, so props to that.
- 13:30I guess my point though is you talk about manufacturing like
- 13:35since that dust up between Michael Garcia and Jazz Chisholm
- 13:39last time, how many times have you heard?
- 13:44How many times have you heard from Michael Garcia?
- 13:47How many how many times has Michael Garcia made the news for
- 13:49for things like that? We're on the flip side that's.
- 13:52What I'm saying like there's not really.
- 13:54On the flip, on the flip side, where?
- 13:55How many times have we heard about Jazz saying something
- 13:57stupid, posting something stupid, running his mouth?
- 14:00I. Hear you.
- 14:01I don't. I don't think he's it just it is
- 14:06what it is. I don't know, like I'm with you,
- 14:09I'm not. I'm not going to sit here and
- 14:10like defend Jazz Chisholm. Like I'm not.
- 14:15I tell you all the time that like he's going to end the year
- 14:18with 22 home runs and at 735 OPS and it's going to be like,
- 14:24thanks for your service like that.
- 14:25He's going to make an occasional big play defensively.
- 14:30I I don't think it's worth the antics.
- 14:32But like, at the same time, I, I don't know, this is what it is.
- 14:40I don't, it doesn't mean as much to Yankee fans as it means to
- 14:45the rest of baseball fans. I guess.
- 14:48Like, we don't really notice and we don't really, he hasn't
- 14:52really earned his pinstripes in a way for us to just be like,
- 14:54oh, that's our guy. I'll die for him.
- 14:57You know he's a tweener. In the chat, his name is Jazz.
- 15:01We're always going to hear about it.
- 15:02That's a that's a funny point. Like what if his name was
- 15:09Bartholomew Chisholm? Like, do we think, do we think
- 15:13that this is being talked? About.
- 15:18Probably not. Probably not.
- 15:20Unless if he goes by Bart for sure not.
- 15:23If he goes by Bart, he's probably not even in the league,
- 15:26if we're being right, I mean, if we're telling.
- 15:28Is Jared Bart in the league? Not now.
- 15:35Let's see, Bartolo doesn't count.
- 15:39No. Bartolome.
- 15:44If Bartolo doesn't count Bartolome, it definitely
- 15:47doesn't. Bart Johnson, 1969 to 1977.
- 15:52Perfect, perfect. Bart Shirley 19641968 Now last
- 15:57thing I'll say is, and I've said this to you before, like I I
- 16:01hate the Yankees. I hate everything about the
- 16:03Yankees. I hate what they represent.
- 16:04I hate what they stand for. I hate their stupid ballpark.
- 16:08It's not even a real Yankee Stadium.
- 16:11Stop trying to tell me you've been there for like 100 plus
- 16:13years. You haven't stupid.
- 16:18You're just everything about it sucks.
- 16:21But at the very least there's a standard there.
- 16:27And I've said, I've said that I said this to you the other day.
- 16:29I said I just need Jazz to play for another team because I feel
- 16:34like he's I'm not saying he's solely responsible for it, but
- 16:39he's with with some of his his actions, the things he posts,
- 16:44the things he like, just running his mouth.
- 16:45It's like very anti Aaron Judge, where it's like Aaron Judge very
- 16:50clearly upholds the the Yankee way, the Yankee standard,
- 16:53whatever you want to call it. And then I feel like Jazz just
- 16:57actively erodes it. And again, I hate the Yankees,
- 17:01but I just feel like he's he's actively working against what
- 17:04the what the team has built up and can and tries to continue to
- 17:09uphold. That's all.
- 17:11I suppose I mean, you, Deion Sanders played for this team.
- 17:16Reggie Jackson was in the news for altercations all the time.
- 17:19So I mean, it's just like, I don't, I don't think that the
- 17:24Yankees are like immune to having these types of players.
- 17:28I think it's just been a little while, but I it is what it is
- 17:34now. To be fair, like you, you kind
- 17:36of just, if there's success, you just kind of accept it and wear
- 17:41it. I mean, Reggie, Reggie Jackson
- 17:44popped off from time to time, but that's Reggie Jackson.
- 17:49We're talking about Jazz Chisholm.
- 17:51I hear you. Let's.
- 17:52Let's not let's not get too deep into the numbers there because
- 17:55you might be surprised at what you find.
- 17:56No, I mean, I'm just, I'm just saying that like you're, yeah,
- 18:02it's not the first and last time we're going to look at an
- 18:05athlete and be like, I don't admire the way you go about
- 18:09things like this. Just this is the way of sports.
- 18:12I don't know. I'm I'm less invested in it and
- 18:16I definitely don't even really care about this Michael Garcia
- 18:19stuff. It does nothing for me.
- 18:22I don't think it is bulletin board material worthy at all.
- 18:29Jazz might disagree. Speaking of bulletin board
- 18:32material, I don't know what was on Juan Soto's bulletin board,
- 18:36but something seems to be working.
- 18:38Looks like looks like the former Bronx Bomber himself is is back
- 18:44to form since June or since start of the month.
- 18:47Coming into the day Wednesday, he's hitting 367 with three
- 18:52homers, 6 ribbies, and a 1291 OPS across 9 games during that
- 18:57span. He's got an on base streak that
- 18:59dates back to May 28th and I've also seen you would know better
- 19:08than I, but it appears as though the Soto Shuffle is back.
- 19:12Is that correct? I did.
- 19:13I did see that it was weird that it just was gone for a while.
- 19:20I mean, I think the Soto shuffle directly correlates to his
- 19:24confidence. Like when he's feeling himself,
- 19:26he's he's Soto. He's Soto shuffling to the box
- 19:30like before his a bat even starts.
- 19:33And you know he's going to do it every pitch.
- 19:34But when he's at, there was a yeah, there was a stretch there
- 19:38where I don't think he was quite right in the head from a
- 19:43mechanical standpoint. Like mentally as a as an elite
- 19:46hitter, he just wasn't, I'm not saying like mentally, but I'm
- 19:49saying just like confidence wise as a hitter, he just was not
- 19:53himself. And I think that's where we saw
- 19:56it disappear. But checking in on some savant
- 20:01numbers. Love me some savant.
- 20:05Leads all of baseball and chase rate.
- 20:07Leads all of baseball and walk rate.
- 20:12His bail rate is back above his career average.
- 20:17His launch angle sweet spot rate is back over his career average.
- 20:25His top five overall of expected outcomes.
- 20:28Shout out to ex woba and shout out to Mets Analytics for for
- 20:33doing some deep diving. I don't know, I guess this is
- 20:40bad news for the rest of the league.
- 20:44I did see that clip of yesterday just staring down Mackenzie Gore
- 20:54talk about manufactured. I mean, I think I get I gave
- 21:00said that too package that he was included in.
- 21:03But like I I don't it's just. Like you also wanted out.
- 21:09So like, don't act like you were disrespected by like being
- 21:12shipped out of town. Right, exactly.
- 21:14Like at, I don't know, I'm out on Juan Soto for sure.
- 21:19And and I was thinking about that the other day where I was
- 21:21like, that's what these contracts do.
- 21:25These massive contracts especially like record
- 21:28contracts, they make you pick a side.
- 21:32You can no longer be indifferent about them.
- 21:35Like you either hate them or love them.
- 21:37That's the only way it goes. Great point.
- 21:40There's no other like you have to be.
- 21:46I'm just. Yeah.
- 21:46Is there another? That's an interesting, that's an
- 21:48interesting point. I I hadn't really.
- 21:50Think of think of them before that contract and then when the
- 21:52contract hits. Is there another guy or two that
- 21:55you can think of where this is applied to?
- 21:57I mean like I went back to like the obvious time of like a rod,
- 22:00like pre Yankees, you know what I mean?
- 22:03Like pre Yankees, no one really disliked a rod.
- 22:06Yeah, well, I mean, going to the Yankees carries its own level
- 22:10of, you know, it's it, it hasn't, and it adds another
- 22:14layer to it, but. Yeah, Stanton kind of a same
- 22:20thing. Like I don't know if people
- 22:21necessarily hate him. Again, it's a Yankee, but like.
- 22:25Outside of New York, I mean, like you, you.
- 22:28Outside of New York, maybe. I mean, it sounds like we're
- 22:30just talking Yankee after Yankee after Yankee.
- 22:34I mean, it's a lot of the big contracts.
- 22:36Machado, well, not a great example either because that's, I
- 22:40mean, Machado had. His own Tatis kind of had his
- 22:43own. Yeah.
- 22:45PED, stuff like that. Is there anybody that's received
- 22:49a contract that's either not like a a borderline dirtbag or
- 22:54like a guy that's been busted that we can apply this?
- 22:58It can't be like middle of the road.
- 22:59I'm saying like big enough contract that like that is the
- 23:02talking point for the rest of the offseason no matter what
- 23:04other contracts happen. That's kind of what I'm getting
- 23:07at. I mean, Harper, but again, not a
- 23:18great example because people didn't like him anyway.
- 23:20It wasn't like people were kind of like on the fence about him.
- 23:24Maybe, I don't know. I mean, like, maybe we were a
- 23:27little too close to Bryce Harper when he was a national and like
- 23:30as he was coming up, like maybe there were people, like, think
- 23:33about it, when he was coming up. How old were we?
- 23:38I mean, when he was on Sports Illustrated, Yeah, we were in
- 23:40high school. Yeah, so like if you were to ask
- 23:47a 30 year old back then how they felt about Bryce Harper, they'd
- 23:49be like, oh, I'm excited to see what this kid is like.
- 23:53I think true baseball fans, like we look at, you know, a a Jack
- 23:56Caglione and like no matter what you're like, yeah, this kids
- 24:00exciting, you know, like I want to see him succeed.
- 24:03And then if all of a sudden, Fast forward 5-6 years down the
- 24:07road and he's ruined a couple other teams and he's walked it
- 24:11off on a couple of your favorite relievers and he signs a massive
- 24:15300 plus $1,000,000 contract, You're like, maybe I kind of
- 24:19hate this kid. I don't know.
- 24:21So I think there's certain guys that just kind of have that.
- 24:24Well, even with him, we talked it when he got called up, we
- 24:26were talking about how there's already hints.
- 24:29Maybe hints is a little too subtle, like evidence, yeah, but
- 24:33develop could blossom. I think it just depends on like
- 24:36the the antics and like what you're always going to have
- 24:39these guys that are just a Wan so to ask of like, I don't care
- 24:45if you like me. In fact, I prefer if you hate me
- 24:49because it knows I know that it's working.
- 24:51You know what I mean? To certain guys like that
- 24:56Terrell Owens was like awesome when he was a 49er and then he
- 25:01goes to Philly and like everyone's like screw this guy.
- 25:04You know what I mean? Like it.
- 25:05You could do this across sports. You could do this with anybody,
- 25:08LeBron. Everyone love LeBron the first
- 25:10time in Cleveland, you go to Miami, I hate you.
- 25:14You're a jerk, right? Like it's just you have these
- 25:17guys that like as the second you see the ego tie into you being
- 25:24the best and you having the most money.
- 25:27A lot of people are out, but this is what Juan Soto is.
- 25:32It's no new. It's it's not a secret.
- 25:34This isn't new, right? Like this is it's just, it's
- 25:39what it is. I, I think it's just a little
- 25:41bit of a different view because everyone looked at him as a
- 25:43Yankee and was like preparing to hate him for the rest of his
- 25:47career because it looked like he was going to be a Yankee.
- 25:49He looked good as a Yankee. And then now it's like this
- 25:52weird like, oh, you slighted the Yankees.
- 25:55We kind of like that you slighted the Yankees.
- 25:57Like, you know what I'm saying? I think by year, this time next
- 26:01year, one year from now, majority of baseball fans would
- 26:05be like, this guy kind of sucks. I don't know.
- 26:08I just don't like him, you know, And then he's like officially a
- 26:12met and and then I don't know, maybe there is some later
- 26:16chapter that he gets to, you know what I mean?
- 26:18Like maybe there's some Bryce Harper threshold that he reaches
- 26:21where you're like, you're just calm.
- 26:24You don't have a high heartbeat at all.
- 26:27You don't stare anybody down. You just, you're super
- 26:31confident. Lance Berkman.
- 26:33Jacob, is there anybody in the world that dislikes Lance
- 26:37Berkman? That guy is just what ego?
- 26:44I don't remember an ego on Lance Berkman at all.
- 26:47I don't. I don't.
- 26:48I mean, I, I remember like a little bit of like rough around
- 26:51the edges, but I mean, I don't know if I don't know enough to
- 26:55warrant. I mean, maybe it's a lesser
- 26:58degree, but I don't know if I don't know if that's an example
- 27:00that fits into this. Contract.
- 27:02Yeah, exactly. It's got to be like the
- 27:04superstar of superstars, right? And and that's just it's where
- 27:10he is so like, I don't I don't it's probably a perfect cocktail
- 27:13of like I'm kind of jealous visibility and his money and I'm
- 27:20jealous that he gets to stare people down before hitting a
- 27:22tank and then gets to stare him down again.
- 27:25You know what I mean? Like it's this is what I said a
- 27:29few episodes ago, though. I was like, dude, get the
- 27:32confidence back and just be the villain.
- 27:34Like be truly be the villain. You've been riding that fence
- 27:37throughout your career of like, I don't know if I want to be
- 27:40loved. I don't know if I want to be
- 27:41hated. I kind of do things that make me
- 27:44be, you know, that that make me feel hated.
- 27:49Like just do it all the way. Be hated.
- 27:52Especially for a best in the National League New York Mets
- 27:56team that is desperate for some of that energy, I would have to
- 28:01imagine. I think it's here, it's look
- 28:03out. I've safe to say he's he's back
- 28:09and this isn't like he's not he's not up and down fluky
- 28:14hitter like that. We could probably Fast forward
- 28:20to the end of year and be like, hey, if you take out April.
- 28:23Yeah. Then half of may dudes hitting
- 28:27380, you know what I mean? Like it's probably going to be
- 28:29one of those types of. Stuff you take out like half the
- 28:31season. This guy was on a Hall of Fame
- 28:34trajectory this year. Now I get what you're saying,
- 28:36but yeah, I mean, I don't think it's going to fluctuate much
- 28:39beyond what we've already seen to this point.
- 28:40I think we're getting good old regular Juan Soto back at this
- 28:47point. Speaking to Soto, his former
- 28:49club, the San Diego Padres, dropped their first series
- 28:53against the Dodgers today. Dodgers take two or three.
- 29:00The game that the Padres do win a score of 11 to 1, which was
- 29:05crazy in and of itself, but this was the first match up between
- 29:11the two teams since the post season match up that everybody
- 29:15was talking about last October. But yeah, that middle game crazy
- 29:23dude you got Dylan sees given giving you a just twirl in a
- 29:29gem. 7 innings, three hits, no runs, 11 KS.
- 29:35And then on the flip side of the ball you got Matt Sauer who is
- 29:43was essentially left out there to die.
- 29:47Sure, Lou Trevino starts the game, gives you an inning
- 29:51essentially of of perfect ball and then the and then old old
- 29:56Doc Roberts rolls out Matt Sauer, who proceeds to throw 4
- 30:022/3, giving up thirteen hits, nine runs, three walks and a
- 30:11Homer across 111 pitches. No, that's I mean, that's a true
- 30:17hero that. OK, I'm glad you said that
- 30:20because there's so many people. And I listened to the I listened
- 30:24to the clip from Dave Roberts. I guess it was pregame today
- 30:27before the the series finale and they were asking him and they
- 30:31were like, Dave, what do you have to say?
- 30:33And credit to whoever it was that asked the question.
- 30:35He's like, I get it. I'm sure most of the rest of us
- 30:38here understand why you did what you did.
- 30:41But he said, can you explain to the fans why or or how you can
- 30:46justify rolling him out there for as long as he did and
- 30:50allowing what happened to happen?
- 30:53And Dave Roberts just look exhausted, as if he doesn't have
- 30:56like a juggernaut of a baseball team.
- 30:58But he looked exhausted and was like, I don't want to waste my
- 31:02energy having to trying to explain this to the fans.
- 31:06He said he's a big boy. He said he know I, I don't, I'm,
- 31:10I'm paraphrasing, but it was essentially like we were all on
- 31:13the same page as to what need to happen.
- 31:15He said, we're trying to win as many baseball games as you can.
- 31:18And when you're down like. You kind of have to punt, man.
- 31:21Yeah, you get to a point where it's like, OK, this isn't worth
- 31:24blowing the rest of our bullpen for, for a a pretty, you know,
- 31:28it's it's June, but it's a pretty important series.
- 31:33So yeah, we're going to punt this.
- 31:35And by the way, we're going to close the game with with Kiki on
- 31:37the bump yet again. Who has officially given up his
- 31:42first turn run by the way? Give up a tater to Manny.
- 31:48Two guys on that weren't his but did give up the tater on like a
- 31:5557 mile an hour pitch. Shame on him for not being able
- 32:01to clean up Sauer's mess. That's that's.
- 32:04Weak through two and a third, yeah.
- 32:07That's that's crazy. Hey, is Kiki going to be
- 32:11eligible as a pitcher in fantasy?
- 32:13It's possible it might be something to consider.
- 32:18He's what, 2? One away, 2 away.
- 32:20I think you got to make 5. Appearances.
- 32:22You can't keep him. You got to keep him in the
- 32:24pitching spot the whole time. Like what do you?
- 32:27You can't. You never know when the game is
- 32:30going to get out of the hand. It's like you can't slide him,
- 32:33you know? Yeah.
- 32:35Do you hear what I'm saying? We're talking about Kika
- 32:36Hernandez. I'm not like actually
- 32:38considering trying to like add him as an asset.
- 32:41I'll throw anything out there at the moment.
- 32:43That's yeah, I mean, that's. That's I've lost four straight
- 32:46weeks so. Tough break for you, but no,
- 32:49that more of the just the novelty of it.
- 32:51I'm, I would, I would love to see him become eligible as
- 32:54pitcher. Yeah.
- 32:57But the take away for me with it with this series was that the
- 33:00Dodgers were able to take a series against you with little
- 33:04to no starting pitching. Correct.
- 33:08And what were the? I'm sorry, what were or you may
- 33:10have already said it, but we had cease who were the.
- 33:13Pavetto Pavetto win games won. Who's been who's been like OK
- 33:18for you? But he just he like he just
- 33:20wasn't sharp this game. So you know.
- 33:22This is what you've said. Like you've said, this is what
- 33:25Nick Pavetto is like. He's.
- 33:27He goes on runs. Yeah, and then he goes.
- 33:30And when he's on, he's on. And then he'll go on slides and.
- 33:36Then that happened. I think Dustin may right, I
- 33:39think. That was so Dustin May and then
- 33:41Dodgers had quote UN quote bullpen game and then I don't
- 33:46remember who they who they rolled out there today.
- 33:54The Dodgers. Yeah.
- 34:01Oh, it was. What's his face, Cass?
- 34:05Yeah, yeah, yeah, they rolled him out.
- 34:07Yeah. Full blown bullpen game again.
- 34:10So the Dodgers are able to take a series for me with little to
- 34:12no starting pitching, as I said. They used 12345678 arms today.
- 34:23Did you also see that which I have my own thoughts, but at
- 34:29who? What opinion?
- 34:32Like what does my opinion matter to Dodgers or Padres or Giants
- 34:35fans? But did you see the the line
- 34:37where Max Muncie said for me, your rival is just one team.
- 34:40You don't have multiple teams as a rival, citing the Giants as
- 34:45the true rival of the Dodgers. What do what?
- 34:49What are we thinking there? I think he's still trying to
- 34:51hold on to go get it out of the ocean.
- 34:53I think that's what he's trying to hold on to, yeah.
- 34:57I mean even. If even if, even if the division
- 35:01somehow ends up with the giants over the Padres and it's a tight
- 35:04race at the end, like I'm still not.
- 35:07I still don't think it's as hot as this rivalry.
- 35:11And like, shame on you. Max wants to eat, dude.
- 35:13Like this is arguably the best rivalry that we have.
- 35:16That's what I'm. Saying latch on to this.
- 35:20Annoying. Whatever.
- 35:23Ridiculous. Last note on the Dodgers here,
- 35:28an update on Shohei to the bump. Sounds like there's a good
- 35:33chance that he would end up back on the mound as early as July as
- 35:39opposed to August. July is not far.
- 35:41Which was originally planned and I think I also read.
- 35:46Yes, there's a quote north of zero chance, which is just a
- 35:51weird way of saying there's a chance that Otani joins the
- 35:56team's. Dave Roberts said that there's a
- 36:02north of zero chance that he joins the team's rotation before
- 36:05the break. I OK don't have to do with that
- 36:15stupid way of saying that slight is there is is that what he
- 36:19means? There's a slight chance, yes.
- 36:23North of 0, meaning like slightly above 0.
- 36:26Stupid. That's a stupid way of saying
- 36:28that that aggravates me and I don't know why I don't.
- 36:34Cool. I think Joe I it's hard to It's
- 36:39hard to care. I hate this team.
- 36:41I hate them. It's hard for me to care.
- 36:45It's hard for me to get excited for, for us to get absolutely
- 36:51buried with notifications and updates the second he returns to
- 36:55the mound. I'm not mentally strong enough
- 36:59for it. I'm not ready for it.
- 37:02My phone is going to overheat with the notifications that pour
- 37:07in the second he steps on the bump, and I don't.
- 37:12I don't want it. I prefer this life, I prefer him
- 37:16as ADH only. It's just quieter for me.
- 37:21Am I OK in saying that? Is there anyone else out there
- 37:25that feels this way? I'm, I'm in.
- 37:29You said it well. You.
- 37:34You've made it clear that you hate the you that you hate the
- 37:38sorry, I'm putting Yankees, Royals on.
- 37:41Oh, perfect timing. You made it clear that you hate
- 37:46OK Sick. Judge Tater, whatever you were
- 37:53wondering. Whatever.
- 37:55Watching live, whatever, you made it clear that you hate the
- 37:59Dodgers. Let's talk about a team here for
- 38:01a minute. That you, you actually, you're
- 38:03very fond of the Boston Red Sox. Roman Anthony.
- 38:07Roman Anthony getting the call up this week, getting a call up
- 38:11on Monday. Was the 700 foot Grand Slam he
- 38:17hit the final nail in the coffin for them or?
- 38:22I I think it was. Was it 497?
- 38:27No, not 497. Four, it was, It was an absolute
- 38:32tater, dude. It was like 470 or something
- 38:35like that. It was like 472. 490 No, it was
- 38:39four, 97150 miles off the bat. 100.
- 38:43And what? 115.
- 38:47All you were joking is at 150. Basically, no, no 115 yeah, may
- 38:52as well have been. But yeah, to your point, I I
- 38:56genuinely think the organization was holding out for 500, but
- 38:59then they got they got bullied into into calling them up.
- 39:03But very cool moment gets gets the call up, goes O for the
- 39:07first, the first game, I think gets his first RBI in game one,
- 39:12but then his parents. That's like one of my favorite
- 39:16parts about these call UPS is when when the turn around time
- 39:19is so fast for that first game that nobody can get there.
- 39:23And then like low key, they kind of like suck.
- 39:25Well, then it'll suck, but it's like nothing to write home
- 39:27about. You don't get it.
- 39:28You don't get that first hit, But then everybody rolls into
- 39:30town the next day and then you're like, all right, now we
- 39:32go. Not to mention he changes.
- 39:35He changed his his jersey number overnight, rolled into town for
- 39:41with 48 for the first game and. What is it now?
- 39:44Second, now it's 19 better, much better, much better.
- 39:52Not great, but better. I, I, I can roll with 19 for
- 39:58now. Theater.
- 39:59I mean, that's what, yeah. Now I, I, I'm with it.
- 40:04But very, very cool moment. I'm biased to 14 and under.
- 40:12It's kind of my threshold I'll take.
- 40:16Actually, I'll run that up to. Which is weird. 18 and under.
- 40:19Which is weird because the team that you pull for, you haven't
- 40:22seen anybody actually play with any of those numbers except
- 40:27maybe 3. Yeah.
- 40:30So I don't know what your infatuation with these low
- 40:32numbers. Are for me personally, no, no, I
- 40:34low numbers are always the GOAT. That's always that's fair,
- 40:37that's fair. But for an outfielder, like a
- 40:39corner outfielder. Yeah, well, Speaking of corner,
- 40:41I saw him boot scoop boogie whiff on one that went all the
- 40:45way to the wall. Was that game one again?
- 40:47Game one Game one goes over jitters.
- 40:53Let the ball roll right by him, which is fine couple.
- 40:57Couple run score. Was it the difference in the
- 41:02game? Did it matter?
- 41:06Dude these games are starting. I'm literally just finished up
- 41:08the game tonight. What was that a difference maker
- 41:12in that game? I'd like to know.
- 41:20Well, they did lose 8 to 10, so yeah, going to go ahead and.
- 41:28Could have. But it was early.
- 41:29There were still time to bounce. Back.
- 41:32Sure, sure. Just trying to give, well,
- 41:34somewhat early, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.
- 41:37Anyway, he was 40. 8 That's why he changed.
- 41:40That's what I'm saying. The issue I have with it though,
- 41:43is that it's already been reported that both him and
- 41:46Marcella Meyer are not going to get many opportunities against
- 41:50lefties. Which stop with this dude.
- 41:55I'm so sick of this. I'm so over the.
- 41:59Like catering to matchups like we're I I'm of the belief that
- 42:04Major League Baseball is never go.
- 42:05You're not going to be able to solve the equation that is big
- 42:09League Baseball. It's in.
- 42:11It's an unsolvable equation. Yes.
- 42:16But I tell you what, these nerds are trying their darndest I know
- 42:20to get as close as they can where it's just like, I it, it
- 42:26goes back to that quote that I've referenced on here before,
- 42:28like the the, what was it the the Jurassic Park quote where
- 42:32it's like they spent so much time trying to figure out if
- 42:34they could that they didn't stop to think about whether they
- 42:37should. And it's like, can we platoon
- 42:41every player on the field every day for 162 games of a season?
- 42:46Sure. But like, who wants to do that?
- 42:50I understand that you're trying to win games.
- 42:51You're trying to like, like maximize efficiency, but like,
- 42:54can can we just like put that back?
- 42:58Can we put that genie back in the box and just go back to a
- 43:02time where like you, you roll your your your best nine out
- 43:08there and just let them. I mean, you, you get a sub in
- 43:11here and there, but like you just let your guys go out and
- 43:14play like stop with the platooning, stop with like the
- 43:18the third time through the lineup, stop with the pinch hits
- 43:21in the 5th. Like just let them play
- 43:23baseball. Yeah.
- 43:25It's the the number one prospect in baseball like he's he's
- 43:29probably going to be pretty good.
- 43:31Just let them play. That's what I'm saying is that
- 43:33like, I, I understand if it's, if that it's a struggling young
- 43:36prospect that's playing like a role.
- 43:38And I just don't fully understand when it's like you
- 43:45said, like somebody who you're banking on being a superstar,
- 43:48like banking on being an everyday guy and be building
- 43:51your franchise around in a way. Like I don't why, why
- 43:58immediately create a problem. I just don't get it.
- 44:05By the way, Marcelo Meyer, I don't love the hair.
- 44:07What's with the? Pipe down.
- 44:09He had two. He had two jacks tonight.
- 44:12It takes odd the pipe down. Stop weird.
- 44:16He doesn't flowy. He doesn't care. 2012.
- 44:20He doesn't care about what you have to say about his hair.
- 44:24I know, but Jazz definitely cares about how you feel about
- 44:30him so. Just like Marcus Stroman, they
- 44:34won't admit it, but they do. They do.
- 44:37It eats at them. Is your next?
- 44:39Is your next goal in life to get blocked by jazz?
- 44:42No, I don't. I don't care that much.
- 44:44Marcus Stroman. However, I was, I was on a
- 44:46mission there and I you're proud of it.
- 44:48I succeeded. It's a big accolade.
- 44:51I mean, again, there's a long. List.
- 44:53I would love to see that list of blocked contacts.
- 44:59I'm blocked by the Reds. What is that about?
- 45:03I don't it, I, I think I was like spamming them with with
- 45:07replies years ago. And I guess the guy, whoever,
- 45:10the guy girl, whoever's running the account just got sick of
- 45:13seeing my face and said no more. So I'm blocked by the Reds,
- 45:17which is weird. I think I might even be blocked
- 45:19by the Brewers. Was it one of those like day one
- 45:23of doing this? No, I'm not blocked by the
- 45:27Brewers. Doing what?
- 45:30The pod. You what were those things where
- 45:33you're like day one of tagging them until this happens day 2.
- 45:37Oh, no, no, no, no. I honestly don't even remember,
- 45:40but I know it wasn't that. But for whatever reason, they
- 45:43were just like, yeah, no. You did something and you gave
- 45:46up. I don't remember what it was.
- 45:48Oh, oh, oh, oh. That was the that was something
- 45:54with Mike Trout, something with Mike Trout.
- 46:01Day one of something. Tagging Mike Trout.
- 46:04Yeah, I'd have to go. Back and look and it it went on
- 46:06for like 2-3 weeks and I was like.
- 46:09Hey, you're in a towel. This isn't as fun, so I thought
- 46:11it would be. That is now like a trend on
- 46:16TikTok, by the way. That's like a new that's like
- 46:18the thing on TikTok is that like you just like tag.
- 46:22Like there's I see a lot of accounts that are like, my wife
- 46:24promised me that I'll get I can get new Golf clubs if Bryson de
- 46:27shampoo de shampoo de shampoo de shampoo responds.
- 46:33Going on a going on a flight won't have Internet, need 5
- 46:37brands to comment but crap like that.
- 46:40Like you know what, whatever works man, whatever works.
- 46:43Money's not Speaking of money. Hold on.
- 46:52Gotta find it. There it is.
- 46:56First of all, I need to preface the Credit Cannon segment today
- 47:00with a with a disclaimer. With a disclaimer with a
- 47:03message. I kid you not.
- 47:06So you know him, you love him, Murray.
- 47:12He sent me a text on Monday night.
- 47:14Was he? Playing the pod in the in the
- 47:16shop. Again, as you know, he plays the
- 47:18pod in the shop that he works in.
- 47:21Shout out marae, you know, like I said, you know him, you love
- 47:24him. The day one, the day one he's an
- 47:26OG. Texted me Monday night and said
- 47:31dude, I'm sure he wouldn't mind. Mind me telling you this?
- 47:34I don't think. He cares.
- 47:36Everybody said, dude, our service department just had a
- 47:38meeting asking the techs not to blast shooting noises or sirens
- 47:42on our speakers. Everyone looked at me and I
- 47:46said, it's a baseball podcast. And I'm like, you know, and
- 47:54look, I, I know we're laughing and not to make light of it, but
- 47:57like, it also doesn't help the fact that this is going on.
- 48:00He's in LA with like everything that's going on in LA right now.
- 48:03Like I'm sure that's not helping.
- 48:04So I I mean that's. That's exactly.
- 48:10What, what do we do? Do I do I still move forward
- 48:14with the cannon or I just maybe need to put out a disclaimer
- 48:20each time? I don't know, maybe Moray should
- 48:22get some Airpods I. Yeah, I mean, that's fair.
- 48:25That's fair. The fact that you, our voices,
- 48:27are just echoing around this, this shop.
- 48:31Which is wild though. Yo that's sick.
- 48:33Honestly, I like it. And if Murray gets fired, Murray
- 48:38gets fired. It's it's for the pod.
- 48:40Murray can come for the team. Murray can come work for us.
- 48:43Yeah. But now let's talk.
- 48:46Just wanted to preface the segment with with that note from
- 48:50from our good our good friend starting us off here.
- 48:57Should I do it? Yeah, Pete Alonzo, the National
- 49:07League Player of the week. He had 400, had an OPS of 14525
- 49:13homers and 15 ribbies. He's I've read and I like, sort
- 49:19of confirmed myself because I wanted to see it for my own
- 49:22eyes. I it looks as though he's
- 49:24tracking for the best season of his career.
- 49:29Should should things continue? Mets should have offered a a
- 49:34decent contract when they had the chance.
- 49:37I think bro's going to get paid man.
- 49:39He's about to start the All Star game for the NL 2.
- 49:45All Star game it, Which will be it?
- 49:47Likely Run Derby as well, 'cause.
- 49:51That's what he looks for 'cause why not?
- 49:54The Peter Alonzo Trophy. The Peter Alonzo Trophy coming
- 49:57in today. He's hitting a clean 317 dongs
- 50:03and then 983 OPS. 180 OPS plus. Worthy of a credit cannon.
- 50:08That might be his debut. Might be first.
- 50:12Might be his debut. Next up on the list, Jose
- 50:19Ramirez. I'm just, I'm putting myself in
- 50:23the shop and then like if you just hear this, that's.
- 50:26All it is. If you like, if you hear this
- 50:31and then the next, the next couple sentences are like, yeah,
- 50:34he's 12 for his last 15 with six homers.
- 50:38Like what is what is going through your mind?
- 50:41If you're hearing this, don't recommend.
- 50:43If you do listen to the podcast in public, I recommend putting
- 50:47in those Airpods for the credit cannon segment.
- 50:49Otherwise you you are in fact going to get some looks.
- 50:53HR is coming to you. Yeah, don't.
- 50:56Yeah, you listen to it on a speaker or you just play it loud
- 51:00from your phone. Just you just consider yourself
- 51:03warned. We we we're doing what we can to
- 51:05help you out, keep you from getting fired.
- 51:07But you know who's not going to get fired?
- 51:11Oh my. I'll wake you up.
- 51:12I guess the juices going. That's why we love it here.
- 51:15Jose Ramirez coming into today riding a 36 game career high 36
- 51:23game on base streak, also bringing with him a 10 game
- 51:28hitting streak. Yeah, in the chat Jacob said
- 51:31don't listen in the car, you will swerve.
- 51:34So really the only place you can listen to this segment is like
- 51:37on a walk. Peaceful.
- 51:42Yeah. But then again, if you're like
- 51:44going for a walk in the park and you've got your headphones in,
- 51:47you might think that you're being you're being held up.
- 51:52It's only certain places. In the car with the windows
- 51:58rolled up at medium volume. Not driving.
- 52:03Yes, not driving during the hitting streak he's in.
- 52:09He's slashing 405-480-8676 with three homers, seven runs scored,
- 52:15five ribbies and five swipes during the on base streak, which
- 52:18as I mentioned, was 36 games, 388-450-2626, seven homers, 18
- 52:25extra base hits, 18 ribbies and 14 swipes.
- 52:32The dude just doesn't have holes in his swing.
- 52:35He doesn't have holes. He doesn't have places to like
- 52:38hitters can't attack him and he's patient.
- 52:41Like he's, he's unbelievable. We're not don't say it.
- 52:47Don't say that he's he's underrated.
- 52:49We've we've exhausted that beyond belief.
- 52:53Everyone knows how good Jose Ramirez and I'm not saying that
- 52:56you're making that case. I'm just getting ahead of it in
- 52:58case you were. No, I was going to say that like
- 53:00I, I, I, I wish we could go back.
- 53:05I I no disrespect to Cleveland, no disrespect, no disrespect,
- 53:10but like I, I wish I would have seen what that guy would have
- 53:13pulled in on the market at that time.
- 53:16I think he would have pulled in a big contract and I think he
- 53:19would have been in a lot of big post season matchups.
- 53:24That would be historical in my mind.
- 53:27Like that's kind of how I picture.
- 53:29It's, I'm not going to say it's a full on waste, but it's kind
- 53:31of a waste. I won't go as far as to say it's
- 53:34a waste, although no disrespect, of course not.
- 53:37No, no, no disrespect. And maybe at one point or
- 53:40another over the life of this podcast that I said it's been a
- 53:42waste, but I'm older now, I'm wiser.
- 53:47If I had said that, maybe I rescinded a little bit.
- 53:50My bigger take away is not that it's so much a waste, but that I
- 53:58just would have been curious to see him elsewhere.
- 54:02Not in that like, oh, Cleveland's wasting his career
- 54:04because, like, they've made some runs, obviously.
- 54:07But, you know, it's just kind of one of those classic like what
- 54:10ifs like. If you see, he's also been in
- 54:12the league for a long time, Sure, I think he's.
- 54:17Further adding to my point, like, you know, maybe a little
- 54:20fresh. I mean, at this point it's not
- 54:22going to happen. But like, you know, a little
- 54:26little new face in a new place kind of thing.
- 54:28I don't know. I'd say like 2014.
- 54:31That's that's my guess. Where would you, where would be
- 54:35a place just like off the top, where'd be a place that just
- 54:38kind of randomly you, you wouldn't mind seeing?
- 54:41Well, I mean, if if we were to go back that far, it's kind of
- 54:44like a 2013 played 15 games. Jeez.
- 54:53It's been only 13 years. Man, how old is he, you said or
- 54:56did you say? 32 This is 30 age 32 season.
- 55:00How old was he when he came up? 20.
- 55:05Oh, smokes J Ram. I don't know, been doing it.
- 55:08Where? Where's the place you'd like to
- 55:09see him? Well, I was going to say it's
- 55:11it's like I'm not going to say like to see him, but it was pre
- 55:15Raffi Devers. Like I he he kind of just looks
- 55:18like a Red Sox. Like I don't know what it is
- 55:20about him. He's always kind of looked that
- 55:23way. And like as a switch hitter,
- 55:24like you kind of take advantage of that field in a way without
- 55:28being pigeonholed as just Fenway righty, you know what I mean?
- 55:35Like, I think that would have been interesting.
- 55:38I don't know. That's kind of what came to mind
- 55:42right away. No it's a good one, hadn't
- 55:44really considered it because it's to your point like pre Rafi
- 55:49Devers you still like? I still sometimes feel like Rafi
- 55:53Devers has been here for like 3 years, but then you realize he's
- 55:58been here for a minute. Yeah, well, he does.
- 56:01He he's always, he always looks like he's 12, but sometimes you
- 56:05just forget how long he's been up.
- 56:09Speaking of the Sox, shout out Trevor's story, man, Shout them
- 56:17out. And I know sure some bias is
- 56:20playing here because you're going to hear these numbers and
- 56:22you're going to go, this is worth this is what qualifies as
- 56:27credit cannon worthy. Let me let me explain.
- 56:31Let me explain better. Hurry up because I'm looking at
- 56:35these stats. Go ahead.
- 56:37I've got the numbers here. I've got the numbers from
- 56:43opening day to stop, put the phone down.
- 56:46It's. Been four games.
- 56:50What are you talking about? Go ahead.
- 56:52Four games. What?
- 56:53Four games of good baseball. Stop.
- 56:55Put it down. And it ended today.
- 56:59It was over. These are.
- 57:02Always coming into today numbers.
- 57:05You know this, how long we've been doing this.
- 57:08Trevor Story from opening day through the final day of May May
- 57:1431st if. You take that out.
- 57:17No, I'm, I'm very much including this because it's it's proving
- 57:22my point here. Let me get to my point.
- 57:25Trevor's story from Opening Day to May 31st was hitting 216 with
- 57:30seven home runs, 23 RBI's and a 585 OPS.
- 57:38He was one of, if not the worst statistical hitter during the
- 57:43stretch of the season. OK.
- 57:45Since June 1st, coming into today, not including today, he's
- 57:51hitting 343 with two homers, 11 ribbies and a 966 OPS.
- 58:02His OPS is over almost 400 points higher.
- 58:11Comparatively. Hey look, I hear you.
- 58:14Nothing wrong with the Canon focusing on the short term.
- 58:17It's the whole point. I understand.
- 58:24Is that it? Was there more to that or you
- 58:26just acknowledging? OK, fair.
- 58:28When did? He start sucking at short by the
- 58:31way, when was when did he start? Becoming this year liability
- 58:34this year last year, I I think he was still he was still above
- 58:38average defensively, but then with the injuries it just I
- 58:43think this year was a tough hill to climb yeah, but for the most
- 58:48part has stayed stayed healthy. He's just sucked.
- 58:51That's the problem, but not since June 1st right, which is
- 58:57why is in this segment lastly here.
- 59:00No, not oh shoot, we got a we got we got some more here.
- 59:04This was a this was a a juicy credit cannon segment today.
- 59:09You know what, I I might, I might rescind this pic.
- 59:18Well, I can't because I said this is all about coming into
- 59:21the day numbers. I was going to say, I was going
- 59:24to say Zach Latell. Your bias is showing.
- 59:27Zach Latell, did he get lit up coming into the well, He just
- 59:32wasn't. He wasn't sharp tonight coming
- 59:34into the day five and O of the Tampa Bay Rays, by the way. 5
- 59:38and O with an ERA of two. Seven O, 30 strikeouts in seven
- 59:43starts since May 3rd. Coming into today, one walk in
- 59:49his last four starts highlighted.
- 59:53Still didn't have any walks today so that's fine.
- 59:55One walk in his last five starts, including today.
- 1:00:01Highlighted by his start against the Astros on May 31st where he
- 1:00:05went all nine, giving up just three runs with six KS.
- 1:00:10What was what was his final line tonight?
- 1:00:136 innings, eight hits, four earned runs, six KS.
- 1:00:19Yeah, it's not going to really get it done for the Canon, you
- 1:00:22know, but it, you know, as we talked about integrity and up
- 1:00:27not going to change the rules. He deserves the credit Cannon
- 1:00:31for coming in for numbers coming into today.
- 1:00:33His teammate Drew Rasmussen coming into today, four and O
- 1:00:40with an ERA of .62. That's 0.62 with 24 strikeouts
- 1:00:47and five starts since May 17th. According to Optus Stats, he is
- 1:00:52the first pitcher in the American League in American
- 1:00:54League history to have a four start span with a four and O
- 1:00:57record zero runs allowed, 10 or fewer hits allowed and three or
- 1:01:03fewer walks allowed all. Right.
- 1:01:06That's a good run. That is a good run.
- 1:01:10It's a good run. On the year he's got a 222 with
- 1:01:14a whip of sub one whip .9. I I bet he gets flipped whether
- 1:01:22the Rays are in the hunt or not. I could see that because I think
- 1:01:24he's got to be close to end of control.
- 1:01:27Yeah, with some injury history like this might be the best time
- 1:01:30to move them. Like it may not ever be this
- 1:01:34high of a value. I mean, they are a postseason
- 1:01:37team as of this moment. I get it.
- 1:01:42Let's see what that contract is real quick.
- 1:01:48Yeah, Club option next year. 31 years old.
- 1:01:54I bet he gets moved. I can see him like as AI could
- 1:01:59see him as like a cub, something like that.
- 1:02:07I didn't have him, I didn't have a note jotted down to mention
- 1:02:10it, but Sandy Alcantara had had a nice little bounce back.
- 1:02:14I believe his last start out so, or maybe last.
- 1:02:18Was it last two starts? I think maybe.
- 1:02:20I'm rooting for that. I need that because I'd like to
- 1:02:22see him elsewhere. Well, you yeah, you mentioned
- 1:02:24Cubs. I think the Cubs have been and I
- 1:02:27think we even talked about it actually at one point where Cubs
- 1:02:29are possibly in on that, you know, the the freaking Dodgers
- 1:02:34are going to be in on any, any of these names.
- 1:02:37Yeah. Well, to be fair, they they
- 1:02:39actually kind of do need it because they're they got nobody.
- 1:02:42As we talked about, they have an entire Major League team on
- 1:02:47their IL right now. Yeah, that's all anyone ever
- 1:02:49wants to talk about. Every broadcast ever.
- 1:02:58All right. I covered the two rays lastly
- 1:03:00here and it's not even for a statistical job well done.
- 1:03:08This is a first of its kind. Did we talk about these catches
- 1:03:14from Denzel Clark? My.
- 1:03:18Word has he in in his short time, has he just like inserted
- 1:03:26himself into the conversation of like best defensive center
- 1:03:29fielder in baseball? I mean this is this is crazy.
- 1:03:34It's insane. It's insane.
- 1:03:37I think it's he's got what I think there have been like 4.
- 1:03:44I know of. 33 I thought there was 32, but I went back and
- 1:03:47checked. I think there was actually four.
- 1:03:49I think it was May 30th. Scaled the wall in against the
- 1:03:54Jays to rob Alejandro Kirk. And then there was that like
- 1:03:59full speed Sprint against the OS yard sale on the ground after he
- 1:04:05hit the wall. June 6 off off the bat of Mateo
- 1:04:09Jorge Mateo full speed into the wall.
- 1:04:12That was June 6th. June 9th was the the one that I
- 1:04:18think made made waves where he scaled the wall, hung out there
- 1:04:23for a little bit, made the catch, came back down.
- 1:04:26He was like parallel with the wall.
- 1:04:28I think I'm going to, I think I'm going to go ahead and join
- 1:04:30the camp that that Jenny Kavnar in that broadcast booth is, is
- 1:04:37ruining moments at this point. It's not just.
- 1:04:41Our guy friend of the pod, Dallas, really, really let it
- 1:04:46eat. He did for that, for that catch
- 1:04:48he did. I think we just leave it there.
- 1:04:52Yeah, I think we just leave it there.
- 1:04:53Our our friend of the pod, friend of the pod, Dallas Raiden
- 1:04:56did a great job in the booth for that call.
- 1:05:01Yeah, I think that's, I think we just.
- 1:05:03I know I remember a couple episodes ago, 'cause we were
- 1:05:05like, is she gone Like it 'cause remember the last catch Denzel
- 1:05:09Clark made where you're like, that wasn't her calling it.
- 1:05:13I wonder if she's been moved to a new role.
- 1:05:18Well, I think we know. No, no.
- 1:05:20And then I think June 10th as well, going back to that list of
- 1:05:24four, I think it was the the one that Chanel hit.
- 1:05:33I don't know, kids a stud kids. An absolute freak, fun to watch.
- 1:05:41A an athletic freak close the book here.
- 1:05:46Just a couple items before we before we sign off Matt Chapman
- 1:05:52to the 10 day IL with the sprained right hand.
- 1:05:58And then as of today, I think it was reported by the Tigers that
- 1:06:02Jackson Job, who I believe was my Rookie of the year pick.
- 1:06:08Was it let? Me confirm I should know this,
- 1:06:15but I'm like 99% sure. Yeah, I had.
- 1:06:20Yeah, dude, I had Bubba, Chandler and Jack.
- 1:06:25So I got time for Bubba running low.
- 1:06:30Some of these rookie narratives are just they're I think they've
- 1:06:33they've took off you. Get caught up.
- 1:06:34You get caught up in the Yeah, I, I've have Jack Hagley on.
- 1:06:39So like I'm feeling feeling like that could.
- 1:06:41You beat the buzzer for sure. That was a that was a good call.
- 1:06:45And I remember texting you before the season.
- 1:06:46I was like his ETA is I think technically 2020.
- 1:06:50I remember saying I was like, Nah, the kids raking, yeah, he's
- 1:06:52coming. He's he's fine.
- 1:06:55Think you reeled off some spring training numbers or something.
- 1:06:57I was like, OK, I gotcha. I think he had like a 1500 OPS
- 1:07:01in spring training or something. It was.
- 1:07:03Ridiculous spring training or not, that's insane.
- 1:07:10Like you're you're still heading off professional arms at the end
- 1:07:13of the day. But yeah, Jackson, Joe.
- 1:07:15Will maybe they're not professional when when you're
- 1:07:17done with them anymore you. Know that's true, yeah.
- 1:07:20He probably ended some careers honestly right then and there,
- 1:07:23yeah. But yeah, Jackson Joe will
- 1:07:25undergo TJ. So he will be out probably until
- 1:07:30the end of next year, if not 2027.
- 1:07:36On the year he used four and one with a 422 with a whip of 149.
- 1:07:43So that's tough, tough. He had a few good starts there
- 1:07:49for the the old Motor City Kitties.
- 1:07:55Yeah, I don't know how I feel about that nickname personally.
- 1:07:59Some mine. I'm not that I'm not that
- 1:08:02creative, but anyway, anything you got Oh up any update on on
- 1:08:10your search for APS 2 so we can? Yeah, yeah, I've been looking
- 1:08:17this up. I think I need to start.
- 1:08:18I need to start branching out on the search, but I've been
- 1:08:21looking on an offer up. You need to tell Paige to look
- 1:08:25on. Facebook Marketplace, I just
- 1:08:27need a stealer phone and do it. But I've yeah, because I had
- 1:08:31there's a lot of the old full size ones which I will do.
- 1:08:36Those are said I have to imagine.
- 1:08:38I mean I'm not I I never had a PS2 but I have to imagine those
- 1:08:41are still lighter than the OG Xbox is correct?
- 1:08:44Tough to say. Those are big boys.
- 1:08:46Those are arguably the biggest ones, but I found a couple of
- 1:08:51I'm just trying. I don't feel like going through
- 1:08:53the process of like selling mine and meeting up with someone.
- 1:08:56So I was just like, what if we can just I'll give you my PS4
- 1:08:58and all my games for your much older PlayStation two and like,
- 1:09:03if you want to resell this, then like the PS2 is worth more.
- 1:09:07Nah, the PS2 I would argue is for.
- 1:09:09I mean, I'm not a. Game I don't know, but based on
- 1:09:11my searches, not really. Not really.
- 1:09:14Plus all the games that I still have.
- 1:09:17You said this is a three or a four.
- 1:09:20I have a four. I want a 2.
- 1:09:24I think if you had a three, then we we very would three.
- 1:09:27I'd be out on very, very clearly know the answer on what what's
- 1:09:31bringing more value. But four?
- 1:09:32Yeah, it's still. I found one person that's
- 1:09:35willing to trade, but he's got the the old thicky PlayStation
- 1:09:392. There's a guy that has the
- 1:09:41PlayStation 2 Slim and all the cords and controllers and it's
- 1:09:45like and memory cards because it's back in those days.
- 1:09:49It's important. Boy, I was like, yo, I let's
- 1:09:53just swap. Dude.
- 1:09:54Like yours looks great. And he's like, now cash only.
- 1:09:59So yeah. At the very least.
- 1:10:01Might have to just sell mine. It would be helpful if you
- 1:10:05brought it because I'm going to be bringing some some other gear
- 1:10:08and I may not have room. To do this, I got you, I got
- 1:10:12you. Do you think it's worth it if I
- 1:10:13just get the big boy PlayStation 2?
- 1:10:17Do those require memory cards? Yeah.
- 1:10:22I don't know about that life over here in Xbox.
- 1:10:23World. That's the thing too, is that
- 1:10:25this guy has no games. It's just the PlayStation two.
- 1:10:28Well. We get the games.
- 1:10:30This is kind of a RIP, like I'm giving you 15 games in a
- 1:10:34PlayStation 4. Like you can resell this for a
- 1:10:38lot more than whatever you're trying to sell this for, you
- 1:10:40know what I mean? If you have no idea what we're
- 1:10:42talking about, we'd we've decided that we are essentially
- 1:10:46going to run a World Series worth of games on MVPO 5 when
- 1:10:54we're in Atlanta for the All Star game.
- 1:10:56We might even run a couple World Series.
- 1:10:57Dude. We, I think we can, we'll be
- 1:11:00able to squeeze a lot of games in.
- 1:11:02Yeah, we will. Stand up till 234 in the morning
- 1:11:04just. I will.
- 1:11:05I'm not kidding, I will. Can't wait.
- 1:11:09I'm maybe it's going to be tough.
- 1:11:13I'll try. You're already walking it back.
- 1:11:17I can already see you're going to be out by 8.
- 1:11:20My closing thought is have we talked about like the building
- 1:11:24submarines thing? Build submarines.
- 1:11:28Yeah, how? It's just everywhere.
- 1:11:32What is that? Is that your?
- 1:11:33Is that your? The point you're making?
- 1:11:34This is just everywhere. Yeah, well, I just saw it in the
- 1:11:37at the Royals backstop and I'm like, what's what's going on?
- 1:11:42What are we? Somebody's got to build them.
- 1:11:48Are we still using them? Yeah, well, we won't be able to
- 1:11:53if nobody builds them. That's why they need to build
- 1:11:55them buildsubmarines.com. For what?
- 1:11:57For what? Things you don't even want to
- 1:12:01know. I don't like the ocean as is so.
- 1:12:06So let's leave it to the people in the submarines.
- 1:12:09The very the least we can do is build them for them.
- 1:12:12So that's what that to answer your question, that's what it's
- 1:12:15all about. I just want to know what they're
- 1:12:17spending on advertising on a yearly basis.
- 1:12:21Got to spend money to build build submarines as they say.
- 1:12:26That's the thing. That is the thing.
- 1:12:28All right, that's it. You got to go eat dinner.
- 1:12:29I got to go eat dinner. Yeah, it's 1020 and I'm going to
- 1:12:33go go up and sit down at the table and enjoy some some
- 1:12:36dinner. Yep.
- 1:12:39Tough. That's on me.
- 1:12:40That's on me. Hey, it's all good.
- 1:12:41I'll wear it. I'll wear it.
- 1:12:45All right, guy. Good stuff.
- 1:12:47You keep up the good work. Likewise, everybody have a great
- 1:12:51rest of your week. I'm always tempted to say have a
- 1:12:55great weekend. So you know what?
- 1:12:56I'm just going to say it because tomorrow's Thursday and it's
- 1:13:00basically Friday and we all know the Friday.
- 1:13:03Doesn't count. Doesn't count, so happy weekend.
- 1:13:05Don't. Go chasing curveballs.
- 1:13:08We love you all and as always, looking forward to talking more
- 1:13:10baseball with you guys soon. Until next time, stay filthy.
