- 0:22Speaker 2: At the end of the game, the defense looked pretty fresh.
- 0:25Speaker 3: I was just sitting here waiting to, like, just chime
- 0:27Speaker 3: in with that, because some pointed out, no, no, there's
- 0:30Speaker 3: no way you put a friend all.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Of a sudden asking a question at a press conference.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I was like, is that is that? Paul I did
- 0:35Speaker 2: a double take. The boycott is over? Boy, you said
- 0:39Speaker 2: you're you're done with that.
- 0:40Speaker 4: I never said that. I thought I'm trying to be cordial.
- 0:43Speaker 2: I thought there was a boycott. I thought there was
- 0:45Speaker 2: a d'angelo's sub. That's ridiculous going please bring back three
- 0:50Speaker 2: points by Parola?
- 0:52Speaker 4: So you you too, YouTube don't know ye, someday I'll
- 0:55Speaker 4: I'll tell you how important I used to be. Started
- 0:57Speaker 4: with five points from the money points. It cuts me.
- 1:00Speaker 4: It cuts down to three.
- 1:02Speaker 2: In the fourth we get a kick return touchdown, a
- 1:04Speaker 2: pick and a sack. What do Pauline induce to toss
- 1:07Speaker 2: the wet blanket on the whole thing? Fellas, come on,
- 1:11Speaker 2: we get it. Improve us needed blah blah blah, but
- 1:13Speaker 2: we won.
- 1:14Speaker 4: That's right, because I'm angry that this email was angering me.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I know I need to know the entomology. I'll tell
- 1:23Speaker 2: you tomorrow.
- 1:24Speaker 4: It's the same play ptamology.

- 2:04Speaker 2: your brunt three quarter zip on, good for you, represent
- 2:08Speaker 2: good for you.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it's geting to be quarter zip weather, three quarter
- 2:12Speaker 3: quarters of u zip q zip weather.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I think his first time.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Fauls got his ninety eight point five shirt that he's
- 2:18Speaker 2: going to be wearing today when he goes.
- 2:19Speaker 4: On just a golf shirt.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I know, but you've got to look good for ninety
- 2:24Speaker 2: eight point five. Yeah, get to the bottom. ILL be
- 2:27Speaker 2: wearing that Northeastern stuff on ninety eight point five. Wear
- 2:31Speaker 2: that here.
- 2:31Speaker 4: You think I never won? You think I never dug
- 2:33Speaker 4: a hole before. I think I never wear my Northeastern
- 2:36Speaker 4: stuff on ninety eight point five.
- 2:38Speaker 2: All right, So what do we got? We're gonna be Oh,
- 2:41Speaker 2: by the way, we'll be going to Rabel Live when
- 2:43Speaker 2: he starts at about twelve fifty five.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Well, we're fromon digs in the locker room today, of course,
- 2:48Speaker 3: and I think everyone wants to know big news talk
- 2:51Speaker 3: about he's a McCarty b expecting big news.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I hope, I hope he agrees with her assessment. Oh yeah,
- 2:57Speaker 2: let's let's see. I assume that there'll be I assume
- 3:01Speaker 2: that they'll be asking him about it in the locker room.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Somebody will Well.
- 3:06Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 3:06Speaker 3: I'll get in there with the mic and we'll get
- 3:08Speaker 3: the we'll get the answers. We'll get the answers we
- 3:10Speaker 3: need people. It's done the impossible. He's silenced.
- 3:15Speaker 2: It's just, you know, this is good. I don't know
- 3:17Speaker 2: what's going on here. I thought they were broken up.
- 3:20Speaker 2: I don't know how they're back together. She says she's
- 3:22Speaker 2: coming to all the games.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I don't know, thinks about billion butt lifts. I don't
- 3:26Speaker 3: know what's going onlicated.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I just hope these kids can work it out all right.
- 3:31Speaker 2: But but onto football. I was watching the Twitter today
- 3:35Speaker 2: and one of Evans guys, Dan Orlovsky, had a very
- 3:40Speaker 2: good breakdown of how when teams run at or away
- 3:44Speaker 2: from Wat how much better the numbers are when they
- 3:47Speaker 2: run away from him, Like they they average around two
- 3:51Speaker 2: two plus yards of carry running at him in over
- 3:54Speaker 2: six yards of carry running away from him, and teams
- 3:58Speaker 2: and it's a good sample side out of two games,
- 4:01Speaker 2: it's like thirteen carries at him, thirty four plus thirty
- 4:05Speaker 2: four so carries away from him. It's not like they
- 4:07Speaker 2: only ran a couple times away from him and had
- 4:10Speaker 2: good results. And maybe, you know, what do you think
- 4:12Speaker 2: about that?
- 4:13Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe even more tempting with Alex high Smith out
- 4:16Speaker 3: with a high ankle sprain, so you know, might be rookie.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Jack Sawyer over there playing a little bit as well.
- 4:20Speaker 3: So yeah, I don't know, I feel like I'm having
- 4:22Speaker 3: a tough time getting a beat on this on this
- 4:24Speaker 3: Pittsburgh team. I don't know why, Like they kind of
- 4:27Speaker 3: do what they do, and they got their guys that
- 4:28Speaker 3: they've had.
- 4:29Speaker 1: But injuries and I don't know, there's just something I
- 4:33Speaker 1: can't feel.
- 4:33Speaker 3: I can't quite put my finger on it where I
- 4:35Speaker 3: feel like I know what team this is right now.
- 4:37Speaker 3: I don't know if that sounds weird, but maybe it's
- 4:39Speaker 3: because my computer didn't work almost well.
- 4:41Speaker 7: It's because they're better on paper than what they've played
- 4:43Speaker 7: in the first two weeks.
- 4:45Speaker 4: It is defensively, I didn't realize all those guys were out,
- 4:47Speaker 4: to be honest with you, so I feel like I
- 4:49Speaker 4: was really I was taking a boose no, because I
- 4:54Speaker 4: was just like everybody else. It's like, you know, they're
- 4:56Speaker 4: not really stopping anything. I mean, guys are throwing on them,
- 4:59Speaker 4: guys are running on them. Two teams in two weeks
- 5:02Speaker 4: have squed thirty points. I know some of that was
- 5:04Speaker 4: not necessarily defense related, but then I'm reading and you
- 5:08Speaker 4: know they're missing two guys in the secondary for both games.
- 5:11Speaker 4: High Smith played ten plays. The other day. He was
- 5:14Speaker 4: replaced by her Big. I think the rookie defensive lineman
- 5:18Speaker 4: hasn't played yet Harmon, so that's like five starters that
- 5:22Speaker 4: they haven't had for the bulk of the two games. Yeah,
- 5:26Speaker 4: so now I can more readily understand why they're giving
- 5:30Speaker 4: up so much yardage. And I was looking at the
- 5:33Speaker 4: run stuff with Seattle and it's like Kenneth Walker dominated
- 5:37Speaker 4: them and Zach Charboney couldn't do a thing. Yeah, So
- 5:41Speaker 4: like how do you, like, how do you reconcile that?
- 5:43Speaker 4: Like I think Charpertey had something like ten carries for
- 5:45Speaker 4: fifteen yards and then Walker had like the same amount
- 5:49Speaker 4: of carries like one hundred yards, right, yeah, like how
- 5:52Speaker 4: does that happen?
- 5:53Speaker 7: I was we were talking about that on Cash twent
- 5:54Speaker 7: two because I noticed the same thing. Walker averaged eight
- 5:57Speaker 7: yards of carry, yeah, and Sharboney couldn't do anything. But
- 6:01Speaker 7: I think the main reason for that was is that
- 6:04Speaker 7: they were running so much outside zone and like Sharbony
- 6:06Speaker 7: is just a big power running back, you know that
- 6:09Speaker 7: he wants to get downhill and run right at you,
- 6:12Speaker 7: whereas Walker's got you.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Know, a lot of.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Game.
- 6:15Speaker 7: Well that was sort of my takeaway from it, and
- 6:18Speaker 7: not to you know, pick on Remandre after he just
- 6:20Speaker 7: had a great game on Sunday, But Gibson and Travon
- 6:23Speaker 7: Henderson definitely are more in the mold of a Kenneth
- 6:26Speaker 7: Walker than than remandre Is. And you know, to Fred's
- 6:29Speaker 7: like stat about running away from TJ. Watt, who typically
- 6:33Speaker 7: lines up over the right side, Like if you run
- 6:36Speaker 7: outside zone left and you get the edge on the
- 6:39Speaker 7: left side against their backups over there on the left side,
- 6:42Speaker 7: Like that was how Seattle ran the ball on Sunday
- 6:46Speaker 7: with Walker. So like that's kind of been the book
- 6:49Speaker 7: right now on on the Steelers, and kind to bring
- 6:52Speaker 7: it back to one of Paul's shows. You week one,
- 6:54Speaker 7: they ran away from Max Crosby the entire game and
- 6:56Speaker 7: everybody was up in arms that they only ran it left,
- 6:59Speaker 7: and they're and you know, they only they were predictable,
- 7:02Speaker 7: Like they're only running it left, and now the stats
- 7:04Speaker 7: are telling you to run away from TJ. Watt, which
- 7:06Speaker 7: means another game where they should be only running left.
- 7:09Speaker 4: So if they only run left on.
- 7:11Speaker 7: Sunday, this is why it's because Watt is on the
- 7:13Speaker 7: right side and they're trying to run away from well.
- 7:15Speaker 2: And but then you know, it gets to that you
- 7:17Speaker 2: know cat and mouse game where okay, the Steelers know
- 7:21Speaker 2: what everyone else knows about that you know, you assume
- 7:25Speaker 2: they're going to make adjustments, because when I looked at
- 7:28Speaker 2: the tape when Orlosky was talking about it, they were,
- 7:31Speaker 2: i mean, their defense was gearing up for the other
- 7:36Speaker 2: team to run toward Wat Like it was like, aren't
- 7:39Speaker 2: you going to adjust here?
- 7:40Speaker 7: Well, because there was a strong side of the formation, right,
- 7:43Speaker 7: they were putting the tight ends over.
- 7:44Speaker 2: All, and then they're running against that right side of
- 7:46Speaker 2: the formation, right, So what adjustments are Pittsburgh going to make?
- 7:51Speaker 2: And I would imagine that it's going to declare early.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Well, I'd say there were a couple of tweets this
- 7:56Speaker 3: morning pointing to say, you know, lamenting that Mike Tomlin
- 7:58Speaker 3: doesn't adjust enough and does do enough with his scheme
- 8:01Speaker 3: and just you know, kind of allows his players to,
- 8:03Speaker 3: you know, try to make plays. And you know, maybe
- 8:05Speaker 3: that's part of the confusion for me is when I
- 8:06Speaker 3: see you know, Jalen Ramsey and uh, you know Watt
- 8:11Speaker 3: and et cetera, those guys, Cameron Hayward, you know, you
- 8:14Speaker 3: just think these guys are always going to be in
- 8:16Speaker 3: for a dogfight. And I think I always felt that
- 8:19Speaker 3: way generally going into the Steeler game. And then Brady,
- 8:21Speaker 3: which is unleash an aerial assault upon them.
- 8:23Speaker 1: So I don't know, I don't know.
- 8:24Speaker 4: That is one thing that kind of worries me, like
- 8:26Speaker 4: their run defenses. You know, guys just talked about it.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Cameron Hayward basically took the summer off, so maybe he's
- 8:34Speaker 4: going to be a little bit more ready, you know,
- 8:36Speaker 4: with a couple of games under his belt. Maybe he's
- 8:38Speaker 4: a little bit more in shape. He made a play
- 8:43Speaker 4: in that game that was just unbelievable individual effort on
- 8:45Speaker 4: a fourth down that he basically created a turnoverall by himself.
- 8:49Speaker 4: It was amazing. But maybe that might be part of
- 8:53Speaker 4: the problem with the you know, the the problems up
- 8:56Speaker 4: front because they usually even when they even when the
- 9:00Speaker 4: Patriots used to shred them like they were tough.
- 9:03Speaker 1: To run the area.
- 9:04Speaker 4: But most part it was Brady just picking them apart
- 9:06Speaker 4: and then doing what you said, Mike and not adjusting
- 9:09Speaker 4: because we do what we do. Wow, right, you know,
- 9:12Speaker 4: well it is great when he's just killing you.
- 9:14Speaker 7: Yeah, it is an element of this game though. That's
- 9:16Speaker 7: on my mind is the institutional knowledge that Josh McDaniels
- 9:20Speaker 7: has of Mike Tomlin and the Steelers defense, and every
- 9:23Speaker 7: time Belichick disciple coach has coached against the Steelers defense.
- 9:28Speaker 7: The Patriots have had some success offensively, like even Mac
- 9:31Speaker 7: Jones and Bailey Zappy had success against the Steelers, you know,
- 9:34Speaker 7: in twenty two and twenty three. So I just I
- 9:38Speaker 7: think that that's a big part of this. And then
- 9:40Speaker 7: on the other side of the ball, you know, Arthur
- 9:42Speaker 7: Smith is the coordinator for the Steelers on offense and
- 9:45Speaker 7: that's Mike Rabel's old offensive coordinator.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Yep.
- 9:48Speaker 7: So I think there's a lot of knowledge of the
- 9:50Speaker 7: coaching staff here from a Patriots standpoint that you know,
- 9:54Speaker 7: as we go here, I feel like that's going to
- 9:56Speaker 7: be a real advantage for them with game planning. Is
- 9:59Speaker 7: Rabel and and McDaniels have a lot of experience and
- 10:03Speaker 7: they have based all of these coaches in the leagues before,
- 10:06Speaker 7: you know, in the league before, and this is another
- 10:08Speaker 7: one of those matchups.
- 10:10Speaker 4: I'm kind of going to do that the thing I
- 10:11Speaker 4: was accused of yesterday. I'm going to do the e
- 10:13Speaker 4: or thing. Oh Brabizo and three against Pittsburgh as a coach,
- 10:17Speaker 4: because he was he was undefeated against Tua and that
- 10:21Speaker 4: worked out. He continued, he's three and oh Now against
- 10:24Speaker 4: Miami with you know, with Tua. So that was just
- 10:27Speaker 4: something that I noticed this morning. He hasn't beaten Pittsburgh.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Should just point out to Jawan Bentley just signed with
- 10:33Speaker 3: their practice squad.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to talk about that dynamic peppers and
- 10:38Speaker 2: over there, but over under. Still on the Patriots rushing game,
- 10:43Speaker 2: Drake May thirty eight rushing yards over under.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna stay under. I'm gonna say over.
- 10:50Speaker 2: I'm gonna say over too.
- 10:51Speaker 7: I think they're going to play a lot of man
- 10:52Speaker 7: coverage and try to come after. Yeah, I mean that's
- 10:54Speaker 7: what they do. They play man to man, they blitz
- 10:57Speaker 7: a lot.
- 10:58Speaker 2: But I think you're going to see some design runs too.
- 11:01Speaker 7: Oh okay, Uh, the Jets did that in week one
- 11:05Speaker 7: and they had some success with it. I mean I
- 11:08Speaker 7: just justin feels a different different runner than than Drake is.
- 11:12Speaker 7: But they had some success within in week one, so
- 11:14Speaker 7: they could do that. But watching the Seattle tape like
- 11:17Speaker 7: it was, it was West Coast. Oh yeah, outside zone,
- 11:21Speaker 7: outside zone boot, outside zone, outside zone boot, and the
- 11:24Speaker 7: Steelers just could not stop it. So I just I
- 11:27Speaker 7: don't know why you would go away from that.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Well that's but that's the thing. That's that gets back
- 11:30Speaker 2: to what I said before. The Steelers know that that. Well,
- 11:33Speaker 2: if I was another team, this is what I would
- 11:35Speaker 2: be trying to do because we haven't done well. So
- 11:38Speaker 2: they're gonna, you know, I would imagine they're going to
- 11:41Speaker 2: do something to rectify that. Patriots assume that they're going
- 11:44Speaker 2: to do that, and I think you're going to get
- 11:46Speaker 2: Drake May involved in the running game a little bit
- 11:48Speaker 2: to just get them on their heels.
- 11:50Speaker 4: But didn't you just tell you that that's what the
- 11:51Speaker 4: Jets did did in Week one? But why wouldn't they
- 11:54Speaker 4: be ready to stop.
- 11:55Speaker 2: That because we two seattle shredded them doing something else,
- 12:00Speaker 2: you know, which was very odd.
- 12:01Speaker 4: I wouldn't want I mean, I think it's reasonable to
- 12:04Speaker 4: suggest over that total. But because of what Evan said,
- 12:07Speaker 4: if they're going to play a lot of man, that
- 12:09Speaker 4: opens up some scrambles. Like last year, he had plenty
- 12:13Speaker 4: of games that was over thirty eight yards rushing, but
- 12:14Speaker 4: they didn't really have any design runs. I don't want
- 12:16Speaker 4: to have him design run a lot in the red
- 12:19Speaker 4: zone or something, you know, like that's that's good, but
- 12:23Speaker 4: I don't I don't think I want to continue to
- 12:25Speaker 4: do with build on what they did last week, which
- 12:27Speaker 4: is exactly.
- 12:28Speaker 7: What Seattle did against Pittsburgh. So like I just I
- 12:31Speaker 7: would just stick to it.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Now.
- 12:32Speaker 7: The one adjustment that I think Pittsburgh will make is
- 12:34Speaker 7: they play a lot of single high safety coverage and
- 12:37Speaker 7: teams are just running crossing routes against them and getting
- 12:39Speaker 7: guys open. I would probably expect them to play a
- 12:42Speaker 7: lot more too high in this game because they're going
- 12:45Speaker 7: to expect the Patriots to run the crossing routes like
- 12:47Speaker 7: Seattle and the Jets did, and so with two high
- 12:50Speaker 7: safeties you can stay over the top of both of
- 12:52Speaker 7: those routes. But at the same time, I just Seattle
- 12:56Speaker 7: Klink Kubiak's air offensive coordinator Shanahan. Guy, he'd hit all
- 13:01Speaker 7: the same notes to the Patriots hit down in Miami.
- 13:04Speaker 7: You know, bootlegs, move the pocket, outside zone, run the
- 13:08Speaker 7: football like it's all that. It was all the same
- 13:12Speaker 7: sequencing that the Patriots used to beat the Dolphins. So
- 13:15Speaker 7: until the Steelers prove that they can stop it, I
- 13:18Speaker 7: don't know why you would necessarily go away from that.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Yeah, just for me, with Josh's experience and like we
- 13:23Speaker 3: talked about, with Brady being able to carve them up
- 13:25Speaker 3: through the air. I would be encouraging to me to
- 13:27Speaker 3: just see Drake carve him through the air and yeah,
- 13:29Speaker 3: you know, opportunities present themselves. Third down, everybody's covered, he runs.
- 13:34Speaker 3: But you know, to me, I think that's what I
- 13:36Speaker 3: want to continue to see is just Drake in command
- 13:38Speaker 3: and control. And like I said, we've seen these guys
- 13:41Speaker 3: get picked apart before.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Maybe he's able to do it too.
- 13:43Speaker 2: So move into the other side of the ball, Aaron Rodgers,
- 13:47Speaker 2: I mean, is goal number one to just hurry him
- 13:50Speaker 2: up and get screw with his timing.
- 13:53Speaker 7: Yeah, I would come after Aaron Rodgers. Well, I would
- 13:58Speaker 7: come after him like move.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Did you just have an argument with your boy about this? No? Hey, continue?
- 14:06Speaker 4: Then I don't know because I've heard Alex this morning
- 14:09Speaker 4: on one of my shows.
- 14:11Speaker 7: Yeah, and I hear his point. But watching Aaron Rodgers
- 14:16Speaker 7: I mentioned the pressure to saccrate yesterday, like he can't.
- 14:20Speaker 7: His sack avoidance is totally gone. Like when he gets pressured,
- 14:23Speaker 7: he's going down. And I don't think he wants to
- 14:26Speaker 7: get hit. So if I'm the Patriots, I am teeing
- 14:30Speaker 7: off and I am coming after Aaron Rodgers, and I
- 14:34Speaker 7: am making him beat me with his legs, like, make
- 14:38Speaker 7: him move off his spot, get him rattled. I don't
- 14:42Speaker 7: think he's interested in sitting in the pocket and getting
- 14:44Speaker 7: hit at this stage of his career, and I don't
- 14:46Speaker 7: think that he can avoid it if they get pressure
- 14:49Speaker 7: on him. So I hope fingers crossed that we see
- 14:53Speaker 7: a certain number zero out there at practice today, because
- 14:57Speaker 7: getting him back and being able to play man to
- 14:59Speaker 7: man and then come after Rogers is probably the best
- 15:03Speaker 7: formula that they can put out there. I just don't
- 15:05Speaker 7: know if they're going to have the horses in the
- 15:07Speaker 7: back end to do it. If Gonzales can't play.
- 15:09Speaker 1: If if he was back, how would you use him?
- 15:11Speaker 3: I mean, is Carlton Davis more appealing with DK a
- 15:14Speaker 3: little bit more just because of the size or do
- 15:16Speaker 3: you feel good about that matchup with Gonzales?
- 15:18Speaker 7: Yeah, it's a good question, And I actually don't hate
- 15:21Speaker 7: Carlton Davis on DK and Marcus Jones on Calvin Austin,
- 15:25Speaker 7: Like I don't think that's a terrible matchup, but they
- 15:28Speaker 7: use so much to tight end that. Like I'd worried
- 15:31Speaker 7: about who's covering Friar Mooth, who's covering John Hu with
- 15:34Speaker 7: the tight ends where if you have Gonzo back, like
- 15:37Speaker 7: maybe you can use Carlton Davis in that capacity or
- 15:40Speaker 7: Alex Austin in that capacity, and it just kind of
- 15:42Speaker 7: creates that trickle down effects. Let's so I'm out like
- 15:45Speaker 7: the matchups because I think they would actually be okay
- 15:47Speaker 7: with the receivers without Gonzo, because I do think Carlton
- 15:50Speaker 7: Davis matches up pretty well against DK, But it's just
- 15:54Speaker 7: the other guys that would worry me.
- 15:55Speaker 1: John of Smith and plan them.
- 15:57Speaker 4: I mean, I think it's a really good question, but
- 16:00Speaker 4: because of Gonzales' health, I think if you were one
- 16:04Speaker 4: hundred percent, I'm not. I'm not weighing those two. It's
- 16:07Speaker 4: Gonzales would be on DK metcalf for me. But it's
- 16:10Speaker 4: a I think it's a great point for what you
- 16:12Speaker 4: guys just said. It's not a terrible matchup for Carlton
- 16:15Speaker 4: Davis with his physicality, but I would want my best
- 16:18Speaker 4: guy on their best guy. And as long as it's
- 16:21Speaker 4: not like a small little jitterbug type that maybe you
- 16:25Speaker 4: know presents a different kind of a matchup problem, I'll
- 16:30Speaker 4: tell you I do kind of expect him to be
- 16:32Speaker 4: at practice. I don't know if he's going to be
- 16:34Speaker 4: able to play Sunday. I would if I was another,
- 16:39Speaker 4: if I was the opposing team, whenever he gets back
- 16:41Speaker 4: on the field, test him. I would just run nothing
- 16:45Speaker 4: but go ro. I would maybe even put one of
- 16:47Speaker 4: my secondary I would try to, like get one of
- 16:49Speaker 4: my secondary receivers and just run and just run them
- 16:53Speaker 4: on as many go routes as you could, just to
- 16:55Speaker 4: test it, to see how much, you know, how how
- 16:58Speaker 4: close to one hundred percent is he and can you
- 17:00Speaker 4: hold up? This is a long time.
- 17:03Speaker 2: He would imagine it. If he's out there, he's one
- 17:05Speaker 2: hundred percent. Isn't that what this is all about?
- 17:07Speaker 4: Yeah, well I don't think he's going to be one
- 17:08Speaker 4: hundred percent. If he played Sunday.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Right hard hard three practices and jump right in and
- 17:12Speaker 3: that it would just be good to start the clock.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Like even if he's out there today, I don't necessarily
- 17:16Speaker 3: all right he's playing Sunday like I I mean, I
- 17:18Speaker 3: I forget I heard talking about it, but I mean, really,
- 17:21Speaker 3: Buffalo is kind of the target if you you know,
- 17:22Speaker 3: you really want him to get up to full speed.
- 17:24Speaker 3: So maybe get him back of practice this week. He's
- 17:27Speaker 3: him in next week. Against the Panthers and then you know,
- 17:29Speaker 3: really feel good about where he's at by the time
- 17:30Speaker 3: you get the Buffalo.
- 17:31Speaker 2: So if you're the Steelers looking at the Patriots tape
- 17:33Speaker 2: from last week, you're saying, oh, they're having trouble matching
- 17:36Speaker 2: up in the middle of the field with linebackers. So
- 17:39Speaker 2: it was yeah, you go after that question. Maybe they
- 17:43Speaker 2: have the personality.
- 17:45Speaker 7: J Warren's been sneaky good for them to start the year.
- 17:48Speaker 7: But he's not each in. He's not like a speed running.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Ganewell's a good scat back too, but not not that
- 17:54Speaker 4: way you're talking about.
- 17:55Speaker 7: They do you have tight ends, So tight ends are good, Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 7: Johnny Friarmuth. Uh, you know, Darnel Washington's a blocking tight end.
- 18:01Speaker 7: He's basically a third tackle when he plays. But they
- 18:04Speaker 7: do have good tight ends, and you know the middle
- 18:07Speaker 7: of the field will now, you know, with getting Gonzo
- 18:10Speaker 7: back and with Davis, I think that's where it helps
- 18:13Speaker 7: most because you can trust those guys to cover one
- 18:15Speaker 7: on one on the outside and then you can flood
- 18:17Speaker 7: the middle of the field with bodies so you don't
- 18:20Speaker 7: get Robert Spulane on a chan with a bunch of
- 18:22Speaker 7: space in the middle of the field, So hopefully that
- 18:25Speaker 7: that does happen. But with like Gonzo, even if he
- 18:28Speaker 7: just comes back this week and plays on third down
- 18:30Speaker 7: and he just plays fifteen to twenty plays on third down,
- 18:34Speaker 7: like just to get him back in to it like
- 18:36Speaker 7: he had. He didn't have a training camp, he had
- 18:39Speaker 7: no preseason games, he did nothing all summer long, So
- 18:43Speaker 7: like you have to have some sort of of build
- 18:45Speaker 7: up to get him ready.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Is this a must win for the Steelers?
- 18:50Speaker 6: No?
- 18:50Speaker 3: No, No, I mean I mean from a certain perspective
- 18:53Speaker 3: of looking at Aaron Rodgers, what are you expecting out
- 18:56Speaker 3: of him? Like in that regard, I mean maybe like
- 18:59Speaker 3: this is one and done for him, right, I mean,
- 19:01Speaker 3: he's going to be done, So every game is valuable
- 19:03Speaker 3: to them. They only have so much landing path to
- 19:06Speaker 3: work with, you know, like the Patriots You've got Drake
- 19:08Speaker 3: May and you know if they were to lose this one,
- 19:10Speaker 3: you feel, right, well, we're still building something. It's like
- 19:12Speaker 3: time is taken for this iteration of the Steelers.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Yeah, if I were a Steelers fan, that's what I
- 19:17Speaker 4: would be monitoring, Like is this going to be different
- 19:20Speaker 4: than the last two or three years? Are we going
- 19:22Speaker 4: to be held back by our lack of quarterback play.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, and you're using these weeks to try to
- 19:28Speaker 4: figure that out. And one that looked like you weren't
- 19:30Speaker 4: going to be in week two, it was a little
- 19:32Speaker 4: more up and down, you know. He I mean, he
- 19:34Speaker 4: made some plays, but he Evan keeps saying it, and
- 19:36Speaker 4: I think it's it's worth repeating. He can't avoid any
- 19:42Speaker 4: kind of pressure anymore. So he used to be able
- 19:45Speaker 4: to be as good as anybody moving around, making throws
- 19:48Speaker 4: with his feet off the ground, and you just he
- 19:50Speaker 4: can still do all that stuff, but he's not interested
- 19:53Speaker 4: in moving anymore. He can't and he won't. So it's both.
- 19:57Speaker 2: It's almost like he's like trying to show the other
- 19:59Speaker 2: team if you're not going too for me, I'm not
- 20:01Speaker 2: going to move.
- 20:03Speaker 7: He wants to be in the shotgun and just pick Matt.
- 20:05Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, like pre snap, like where am I going
- 20:07Speaker 7: with the ball and I'm just going to get the
- 20:09Speaker 7: football out? And he can still drop dimes like he's
- 20:11Speaker 7: got great it's still got great arm talent, but that's
- 20:15Speaker 7: just what he does.
- 20:15Speaker 3: But I mean, he's he's really good on I mean,
- 20:17Speaker 3: the athletic guy good on the run, like is he
- 20:19Speaker 3: still like are you still concerned about him breaking the
- 20:21Speaker 3: pocket and making plays on the run like where he
- 20:23Speaker 3: used to be where? Or are you just kind of saying,
- 20:25Speaker 3: like he can't really move, let's just send Barmore and
- 20:27Speaker 3: Williams right up.
- 20:28Speaker 1: In the first game last.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Year where we were thinking he couldn't move, and then
- 20:31Speaker 2: all of a sudden against us he could move all
- 20:33Speaker 2: over the place.
- 20:34Speaker 4: He did. It was the one game in the two
- 20:36Speaker 4: year well a year of now plus two games that
- 20:39Speaker 4: he moved. It was, you're absolutely right. We all said
- 20:41Speaker 4: all those things and then he went and moved all
- 20:43Speaker 4: over the place.
- 20:44Speaker 2: He used it all up against.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Us, like him and Gino Smith, And I know.
- 20:48Speaker 7: He can move by you know, like they do run
- 20:49Speaker 7: a lot of bootlegs with Arthur Smith, and like he
- 20:52Speaker 7: can still leg and like move by design. He's great
- 20:54Speaker 7: with the fakes and all that stuff. Still, but if
- 20:57Speaker 7: you get him under pressure, he goes down. I mean,
- 21:00Speaker 7: that's just he's going down thirty percent of the time
- 21:02Speaker 7: when he's getting pressured. It's it's a really high number.
- 21:05Speaker 2: All right, Well, let's hope they can do that. We
- 21:07Speaker 2: need a home win, Patriots need a home win at
- 21:10Speaker 2: a stadium.
- 21:11Speaker 1: We have a little bit of breaking news.
- 21:12Speaker 7: I want to share it.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, let's hear it.
- 21:14Speaker 7: Uh Antonio Gibson Special Teams Player of the Week.
- 21:18Speaker 1: Right, Okay, I did, Yeah, I did.
- 21:24Speaker 4: I did.
- 21:24Speaker 3: No good for uh Antonio when we were joking, you know,
- 21:27Speaker 3: if they lost, maybe the other punt return would.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Have gotten it. But but no good for him.
- 21:31Speaker 3: I what a what a run? Pulled away full speed
- 21:33Speaker 3: and uh yeah good?
- 21:35Speaker 2: Uh.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I mean he had a bunch of yards too.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, I guess that's kind of the
- 21:39Speaker 3: function of kickoff returns now where you're going to pass
- 21:42Speaker 3: some more kickoff. I mean, he had like one hundred
- 21:43Speaker 3: and seventy yards, but you know he's getting twenty five
- 21:45Speaker 3: yards of a clip.
- 21:45Speaker 1: But now he's been he's been solid.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Him and Travon in the preseason hopefully continue to make plays.
- 21:50Speaker 3: I mean we talked about it a little bit. I mean,
- 21:52Speaker 3: that's a it's a legit play now, that kickoff.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I guess you know, with the short amount of time
- 21:58Speaker 2: that we've had to review it, the new kickoff rule
- 22:01Speaker 2: is kind of good. Yeah, I mean it it has
- 22:04Speaker 2: increased I think I don't know the actual numbers but
- 22:07Speaker 2: it seems like it's increased the amount of returns.
- 22:10Speaker 4: First, absolutely first.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Touchbacks, and at the same time, because they're not running
- 22:14Speaker 2: full length, it has helped with safety. I don't know,
- 22:17Speaker 2: so it's done both.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean true, there's a lot of people that
- 22:20Speaker 4: have pushed back on the safety part of it, but
- 22:23Speaker 4: you can't argue that if they wanted to get the
- 22:25Speaker 4: kickoff back in the game, this adjustment has worked. Yeah,
- 22:29Speaker 4: you know, because I want to say, it was like
- 22:31Speaker 4: over seventy percent seventy five plus percent returns as opposed
- 22:36Speaker 4: to all those touchbacks that you had last year. I've
- 22:39Speaker 4: been a little surprised. I thought if the returns were
- 22:42Speaker 4: creating problems for teams, they would just start saying, well,
- 22:45Speaker 4: what's the difference between five yards? But just give them
- 22:47Speaker 4: the touchback and give them the ball. But we haven't
- 22:49Speaker 4: really seen it yet. Two weeks I think I haven't
- 22:52Speaker 4: really seen any increase in the touchbacks. I still think
- 22:55Speaker 4: that might happen, yeah, but I think it hasn't so far.
- 22:58Speaker 4: Teams have covered pretty well. Also, you know, I don't
- 23:01Speaker 4: know what the average I think everybody's starting over the
- 23:04Speaker 4: thirty yard line anyway.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Well, but if it's short of the thirty five, then
- 23:08Speaker 2: there's also that chance that you could pin them back
- 23:10Speaker 2: even further.
- 23:10Speaker 4: So I don't know, but my point is you're risking
- 23:13Speaker 4: a big play and you're still get them the ball
- 23:15Speaker 4: over the thirty yard line. Just give them the touchback
- 23:18Speaker 4: right like that. I think it's been a problem. I
- 23:20Speaker 4: think there's been a lot of big returns.
- 23:22Speaker 2: What's the average drive start?
- 23:24Speaker 1: I mean, that's a good kick.
- 23:25Speaker 3: That yeah, I mean personally, I'll dive into stats until
- 23:28Speaker 3: like week four, but.
- 23:29Speaker 4: It's too But you're right for that because it's too
- 23:31Speaker 4: small of a sample size.
- 23:32Speaker 2: You're right.
- 23:33Speaker 1: But it's also some.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Additional pressure on the kickers to get it in the
- 23:36Speaker 3: landing zone. I mean, there was always that pressure in
- 23:38Speaker 3: getting it out of bounds and that was, you know,
- 23:40Speaker 3: a big no no for the kickers. But now you
- 23:42Speaker 3: go from making an extra point to now you've got
- 23:45Speaker 3: to land the ball in the landing zone.
- 23:47Speaker 2: And and I guess because you need to be more accurate.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I'm surprised we haven't seen more really high kicks to
- 23:54Speaker 2: give your coverage team time to get there and set up.
- 23:58Speaker 4: You can't do.
- 23:58Speaker 2: You've seen more like chipsh It's almost that. It's almost
- 24:02Speaker 2: like you're pitching it on with a golf club into
- 24:04Speaker 2: that landing zone, which to me, gives the advantage to
- 24:08Speaker 2: the returner because the ball gets there quicker and you
- 24:11Speaker 2: know space.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Yeah, what are we gonna say? No, what are we
- 24:14Speaker 1: going to say? I don't know. I want to hear it.
- 24:15Speaker 4: It doesn't matter how high you kick it or how
- 24:18Speaker 4: it gets there. They can't move until he gets touched.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Oh is that right?
- 24:20Speaker 1: Right?
- 24:21Speaker 8: Oh?
- 24:21Speaker 2: Okay, they never mind.
- 24:22Speaker 4: So that's why what teams are trying, what some kickers
- 24:26Speaker 4: are trying to do, is they're trying to perfect that
- 24:28Speaker 4: line drive that hits the ground in the landing zone
- 24:32Speaker 4: and then maybe gives the return. Kind of like what
- 24:34Speaker 4: happened to Antonio Gibson in the last late in the
- 24:36Speaker 4: first half, we've kind of mishandled, he babbled. It ended
- 24:39Speaker 4: up being irrelevant because it was the end of the half,
- 24:41Speaker 4: but they ended up being out of bounds at the
- 24:43Speaker 4: four yard line.
- 24:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:44Speaker 4: That's what they're trying to create, some problems handling the ball,
- 24:48Speaker 4: or if it goes in the end zone, that touchback
- 24:50Speaker 4: doesn't go to the thirty five, It goes to the
- 24:54Speaker 4: twenty right, if the ball lands in the field and
- 24:57Speaker 4: then ends up in the end zone for a touchback,
- 24:59Speaker 4: that doesn't go out of the thirty five. So that's
- 25:01Speaker 4: what the kickers are trying to do. But it's not easy. Yeah,
- 25:04Speaker 4: it's not a normal kick for no.
- 25:06Speaker 3: I mean I kind of have to give the NFL
- 25:07Speaker 3: credit for you know, we were talking about all these rule
- 25:09Speaker 3: changes constantly, but this seems like one where yeah, you
- 25:11Speaker 3: got to watch the kickoffs now, it's not just yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 4: I just don't understand why they can't just have the
- 25:15Speaker 4: kickoff the way it normally was. Why they had to
- 25:18Speaker 4: do this thing, And that's why I think there's a
- 25:19Speaker 4: lot of people pushing back on the safety thing, and frankly,
- 25:24Speaker 4: Vrabel's one of them who doesn't necessarily see why this
- 25:26Speaker 4: is safer. We're exciting, no, But what I'm saying is
- 25:31Speaker 4: you could have the same excitement if you had the
- 25:33Speaker 4: touch back of the thirty five. They would stop touching
- 25:35Speaker 4: it back just on a regular kickoff. Yeah, you know,
- 25:38Speaker 4: because I think it's kind of making it a gimmick
- 25:40Speaker 4: play now with the everybody lined.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Up like that, Well, don't you think I And again
- 25:45Speaker 2: I don't have the data, but the fact that it's
- 25:49Speaker 2: not as long a run for the coverage team and
- 25:52Speaker 2: the collisions aren't as huge, that in itself makes it
- 25:56Speaker 2: a little safe.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I don't know if this is not me talking, is
- 26:00Speaker 4: I'm just listening to some coaches that have kind of
- 26:02Speaker 4: pushed back on me of no, no, no, we're talking about
- 26:06Speaker 4: collicious We're talking concussions and collisions. They claim that this
- 26:10Speaker 4: doesn't really too much to their coaches. Okay, well and
- 26:16Speaker 4: it's not. And I'm sure it's not every coach.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I'd just be interested.
- 26:19Speaker 4: But some coaches that push back, well, that really hasn't.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Like Mike said, you know, we're talking about a season
- 26:24Speaker 4: plus two weeks where the data I.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Thought that I was being a hard o for saying that,
- 26:29Speaker 3: and I appreciate the support on that point. I really
- 26:32Speaker 3: don't try to like get too carried away with any
- 26:34Speaker 3: stats right now.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Well, and that's like the whole thing with like, and
- 26:39Speaker 4: I know part of it is reputation, but we're you know,
- 26:41Speaker 4: going back to the Steelers and you're looking at it
- 26:43Speaker 4: and you're like, well, wow, like two teams were able
- 26:47Speaker 4: to really throw the ball on them, and the Jets
- 26:50Speaker 4: were able to run all over them. I don't think
- 26:52Speaker 4: Seattle had as much success running as it's sort of
- 26:54Speaker 4: I mean, one hundred and seventeen yards, it's kind of
- 26:56Speaker 4: a pedestrian day running the ball. But Kenneth certainly had
- 27:00Speaker 4: a great day, averaging eight yards to carry. So you
- 27:04Speaker 4: sort of look at that and say, like, well, is
- 27:06Speaker 4: that what Pittsburgh is now? Are they just not going
- 27:08Speaker 4: to be a good defense this year or it's just
- 27:10Speaker 4: a tough start to the season and maybe the Jets
- 27:13Speaker 4: did some things that really caught him off, you know,
- 27:15Speaker 4: new quarterback with a different style of play. You know,
- 27:18Speaker 4: I don't know if we have enough to go on.
- 27:20Speaker 4: So heading into the week, I was thinking, you know,
- 27:24Speaker 4: everybody's going to be like, this is a great defense
- 27:26Speaker 4: for the Patriots to be facing. Now, you know, I
- 27:28Speaker 4: think Pittsburgh's gonna you know, like TJ. Watt to me,
- 27:31Speaker 4: I'd be very surprised if he has a quiet day Sunday.
- 27:34Speaker 4: He's had a pretty quiet start to the season. But
- 27:37Speaker 4: then I'm looking at all these guys, you know, Joey
- 27:38Speaker 4: Porter and Deshaun Elliott haven't played yet, or I haven't
- 27:42Speaker 4: played much. Derek Harmon hasn't played at all, Alex Highsmith's
- 27:46Speaker 4: a pretty good edge linebacker. He's going to be out
- 27:48Speaker 4: of this game with the high ankle sprain. Maybe this
- 27:52Speaker 4: is going to be another week that Pittsburgh's defense struggles.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Yeah, you're embodying like what I said at the top
- 27:57Speaker 3: of like, there's just so many conflicting thoughts that I
- 27:59Speaker 3: have about this team in this matchup historically and based
- 28:02Speaker 3: on the first two weeks that I don't know, I
- 28:04Speaker 3: just don't feel like.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I have a good beat on it. Everything you guys.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Tell, I mean, we're a new team, really, and so
- 28:09Speaker 4: you know, yeah, one guy I would say after, is
- 28:11Speaker 4: there a new team?
- 28:12Speaker 3: I know we mentioned him yesterday, but I'd like to
- 28:14Speaker 3: see Anthony Jennings active again. And I think he's a
- 28:17Speaker 3: useful piece against the big, physical team like this, And
- 28:20Speaker 3: you just seeing Jennings get out there, you're reminded that
- 28:23Speaker 3: he has an NFL skill set of being a really
- 28:26Speaker 3: tough sob on that edge, you know, and it's it's
- 28:29Speaker 3: just a good thing to have, especially when you never
- 28:31Speaker 3: know how a game is going to unfold.
- 28:33Speaker 1: You know you can count on him for that.
- 28:35Speaker 3: I'm curious how it lines up if ke On White's
- 28:38Speaker 3: back from his illness of last week? Is Keyon White
- 28:41Speaker 3: take a step back or is he right back in there?
- 28:43Speaker 3: But I really liked what I saw from anphony Jennings.
- 28:45Speaker 3: I think he'd be useful this week.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Sounds good, all right? Jack writes in about the game
- 28:51Speaker 2: kind of about the game. He says, to prepare for
- 28:54Speaker 2: the game, the PU team should play stud or stiff.
- 28:57Speaker 2: For each of the five stealers below. Each member of
- 29:00Speaker 2: the team must declare whether he is a stud or
- 29:02Speaker 2: a stiff. It must be one or the other, no
- 29:04Speaker 2: middle ground.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Okay, it's a tough game.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers stiff Stiff really became Metcalf stud John Smith.
- 29:14Speaker 4: See this is that That's exactly the guy I was
- 29:17Speaker 4: thinking of. I'm gonna have to say stud. But I
- 29:20Speaker 4: don't think he's a stud. But he's not a stiff.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Maybe stud against our d.
- 29:23Speaker 4: He's closer to a stud than a stiff. So I'm
- 29:25Speaker 4: going to go stud.
- 29:26Speaker 2: T J Watt Stud Jalen Ramsey.
- 29:30Speaker 1: He's getting stiffy.
- 29:31Speaker 4: You closer to us.
- 29:33Speaker 1: He's like the opposite of Johnny John is closer to stud.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I'd say they're both.
- 29:37Speaker 4: I would say is closer to stud than stiff. But
- 29:40Speaker 4: he's not a stud anymore. That's a good game though.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Coaching matchup. Do they have the edge?
- 29:47Speaker 4: No, I don't think something. I mean, I mean you
- 29:49Speaker 4: should like, I don't think we should be going into
- 29:52Speaker 4: games thinking the other team has the coaching edge anymore.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, yeah, we'll see.
- 29:58Speaker 3: I mean, we gotta get a sa ample size under
- 30:00Speaker 3: Vrabel and start to understand what his teams, what his
- 30:03Speaker 3: teams play like.
- 30:04Speaker 1: And you know, it's just like again, it's just hard
- 30:07Speaker 1: to know what are you going to see?
- 30:08Speaker 3: Is are rabel team's going to be consistent and pretty
- 30:11Speaker 3: close to getting better each week, or are they going
- 30:13Speaker 3: to be the kind of team that's up and down
- 30:15Speaker 3: and it was good last week and then this week
- 30:16Speaker 3: they're going to come home and maybe it isn't this.
- 30:18Speaker 4: Like I knew the point that everyone was making when
- 30:20Speaker 4: he was talking about, you know, Josh McDaniel's familiarity with
- 30:22Speaker 4: Pittsburgh and then Rabel with Arthur Smith, but I think
- 30:26Speaker 4: that's kind of negated. I think obviously Tomlin has immense
- 30:31Speaker 4: knowledge of the Patriots, and Arthur Smith knows Rabel like
- 30:35Speaker 4: anything you have. Rabel to Smith. Smith has the Rabel like.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Especially on they weren't looking at it, were together like
- 30:41Speaker 3: looking at the Patriots defense now, Arthur Smith obviously a
- 30:44Speaker 3: lot of what hentime.
- 30:44Speaker 4: So to answer your question, Freddie, I don't think that
- 30:47Speaker 4: the Steelers have an edge, but I don't look at
- 30:50Speaker 4: the Patriots having an edge either, right. I think there's
- 30:52Speaker 4: probably two good coaching staffs. Yeah, you know, I don't
- 30:55Speaker 4: think kind of like the first game of the year,
- 30:58Speaker 4: you know, with with Pete Carroll and look at that
- 31:00Speaker 4: as a huge edge for the Patriots either.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay, eight five five Pats five hundred is the
- 31:07Speaker 2: hot line podcast at Patriots dot com. Is the way
- 31:11Speaker 2: to email us. I'll remind everyone that at around twelve
- 31:15Speaker 2: fifty five we'll go to Mike Rabel Live. We'll do
- 31:18Speaker 2: his press conference. Good thing we did that last week
- 31:20Speaker 2: because there was like breaking news we found out about
- 31:23Speaker 2: Carell Williams during that press conference. So you never know
- 31:28Speaker 2: what's what's gonna happen during the press conference.
- 31:31Speaker 3: So we did hear from Rabele on Monday saying that
- 31:33Speaker 3: Turtles will be back in a round, But it doesn't sound.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Like he's fully back back.
- 31:37Speaker 3: He's around, but I don't know if he's resuming his
- 31:39Speaker 3: full duties still.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Have Zach k place Zach. Yeah, what was I about
- 31:46Speaker 2: to say? I forget?
- 31:47Speaker 8: Oh?
- 31:47Speaker 2: And then what did Evan go? Not sure?
- 31:50Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I thought he was gonna hang for the first It's like.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Locker rooms after rape, right, So why is he leaning
- 31:54Speaker 2: at twelve thirty? I don't know, get in line for Diggs.
- 31:58Speaker 1: What's going Maybe Barth the mergency or something.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Yeah, because if Mike isn't until twelve giving a rush
- 32:03Speaker 4: to the.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Hospital, that's Cardi Cardi B alex B Cardi B. No,
- 32:09Speaker 3: I'm not sure we'll find out.
- 32:11Speaker 4: Okay, you just got it, because Mike is twelve fifty five, right, Yeah, locker.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Room one time.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.
- 32:16Speaker 2: He just like ran out. I don't know.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Maybe felt like he emptied the clip of football knowledge
- 32:20Speaker 3: today after catch twenty two and you have nothing more
- 32:22Speaker 3: to say.
- 32:22Speaker 4: I don't think that Evans ever emptied the clip before.
- 32:27Speaker 2: All right, let's start off with Anthony and Seattle. What's up, Anthony?
- 32:31Speaker 4: Hey, what's up my people?
- 32:33Speaker 2: Hey?
- 32:34Speaker 9: I checked the forecast.
- 32:36Speaker 4: It's gonna be a beautiful weekend for.
- 32:38Speaker 9: My first trip to Boston. It's also gonna be nice
- 32:40Speaker 9: in Foxborough. But Fred Hey, we're staying in Boston, so
- 32:44Speaker 9: obviously we're you know, we're gonna be seeing the city
- 32:47Speaker 9: and all that stuff on Saturday and then driving out
- 32:49Speaker 9: the Foxboro for the game on Sunday. But when they
- 32:52Speaker 9: have a vinch like that, isn't there probably a good
- 32:54Speaker 9: chance that they'd have them as like guests at the
- 32:56Speaker 9: game and maybe do a little something that at halftime.
- 32:59Speaker 9: I will be pretty cool to see jewels at halftime.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Yeah, you will see jewels at halftime. Parcels won't be there.
- 33:05Speaker 2: He can only be here for Saturday, but they will
- 33:08Speaker 2: honor Julian at halftime of the game.
- 33:11Speaker 9: Nice.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Nice.
- 33:12Speaker 9: So I just want to I never do this, but
- 33:14Speaker 9: I did want to follow up on my call from yesterday.
- 33:16Speaker 9: I didn't get a chance to make my point before
- 33:18Speaker 9: Paul jumped in there, and then I wanted to give
- 33:20Speaker 9: duces flowers. But hey, Paul, all I was trying to
- 33:23Speaker 9: say is that when Patriots fans have done that in
- 33:26Speaker 9: the past with the blank amount of offensive points, you
- 33:29Speaker 9: made a very good point that I agree with, is
- 33:31Speaker 9: that that's one less possession for an offense that you
- 33:34Speaker 9: haven't really stopped. And so the same way I thought
- 33:36Speaker 9: Miami scored around thirty because their offense played well. The
- 33:40Speaker 9: Patris scored around thirty because they're typically when your offense
- 33:42Speaker 9: is playing well, you know, thirty points is kind of
- 33:45Speaker 9: you're going to be in that thirty point or better range.
- 33:47Speaker 9: So we can agree to disagree, but that was all
- 33:49Speaker 9: I was saying. We're as reduced, So as reduced, you
- 33:55Speaker 9: might not want these flowers because of how we're feeling
- 33:57Speaker 9: about the defense as a whole. And I agree, know
- 34:00Speaker 9: they got it, tighten it up and maybe Gonza will
- 34:02Speaker 9: help with that stuff. However, you know, you were on
- 34:05Speaker 9: this and I got this was it was cool to
- 34:07Speaker 9: see it come to fruition. But you know this that
- 34:10Speaker 9: first of all, the defensive stop to close out a game.
- 34:13Speaker 9: We've been looking for that stop for five you know,
- 34:15Speaker 9: for five years. But I just I specifically remember when
- 34:20Speaker 9: uh Rabo first came and was, you know, bringing in
- 34:22Speaker 9: all the new faces, and you on this show said,
- 34:26Speaker 9: it feels like they're they're they're building a defense that
- 34:28Speaker 9: has the ability, uh to deliver a CounterPunch and you know,
- 34:32Speaker 9: not sit back and keep everything in front and wait
- 34:35Speaker 9: for mistake. And yes, Miami helped out with some of
- 34:37Speaker 9: the down and distance situation. But the bottom line is
- 34:40Speaker 9: with the you know, two fourth down stops game on
- 34:42Speaker 9: the line, you're getting multipook pressures back interception like that
- 34:46Speaker 9: is the definition of delivering a counter punch to an
- 34:49Speaker 9: offense that's moved the ball up and down the field
- 34:51Speaker 9: on you all all game long. And I think I
- 34:53Speaker 9: think we're starting to have a little bit of that
- 34:55Speaker 9: fun that you were talking about a few years ago.
- 34:57Speaker 1: All right, thanks Anthony, I was fun. I was fun
- 35:00Speaker 1: on Saturday. Yeah, I just I just wish it wasn't
- 35:03Speaker 1: so I think we would.
- 35:04Speaker 4: I knew you were going to do that way I
- 35:10Speaker 4: could tell my.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Well, I just it needs to be more consistent.
- 35:14Speaker 3: And I mean we said it coming out of training
- 35:16Speaker 3: camp that you know, it seems like this is going
- 35:18Speaker 3: to be a lot of boom er busts. They're going
- 35:19Speaker 3: to make a big play, they're going to give up
- 35:20Speaker 3: a big play, and it's kind of been exactly that,
- 35:22Speaker 3: So you know, you want them to find a middle ground,
- 35:25Speaker 3: but at the same time make those big plays and
- 35:27Speaker 3: those you know, game ending plays are huge. So you
- 35:30Speaker 3: know that, I think that gives us a little positive
- 35:33Speaker 3: vibe about it all. But you know, when you look
- 35:35Speaker 3: at the real pressure and at all it was kind
- 35:36Speaker 3: of too doing what he wanted for three quarters.
- 35:38Speaker 1: So uh, you know me, I like, I try, I
- 35:40Speaker 1: try to stay balanced, but.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I only scored great points.
- 35:44Speaker 4: They did that. The bottom line is they only scored
- 35:46Speaker 4: twenty points, and I don't think that they played defense
- 35:50Speaker 4: that would you know, sort of lead you to believe
- 35:53Speaker 4: they were only scored in twenty But that's all they scored.
- 35:55Speaker 4: And they were able to take advantage of the second
- 35:57Speaker 4: and third opportunities they got and they closed it out.
- 36:00Speaker 4: That's why I think that, like the most exciting part
- 36:03Speaker 4: for me was when they've been in that situation in
- 36:07Speaker 4: the past, they would you know, it wouldn't matter, like
- 36:11Speaker 4: they would just okay, so we got to go, we
- 36:13Speaker 4: got to do this again, and they would just do
- 36:15Speaker 4: it again. Well this time, you know, guy steps out
- 36:18Speaker 4: of bounds, get a couple of penalties. The Patriots closed
- 36:21Speaker 4: it out. That's me was the big difference. You know
- 36:24Speaker 4: that the Patriots came through and made the plays when
- 36:26Speaker 4: they had to. That's why all the stuff that went
- 36:29Speaker 4: wrong I acknowledge. I'm not ignoring it. I'm just not
- 36:33Speaker 4: ready to talk about it now because it was such
- 36:35Speaker 4: a departure from what we've seen for three years now,
- 36:38Speaker 4: two plus seasons, Like they couldn't get those stops against
- 36:41Speaker 4: the Raiders even in week one. From Week one to
- 36:44Speaker 4: week two, they got the stops. When the Raiders got
- 36:47Speaker 4: the ball back at the end of the game up
- 36:49Speaker 4: a score, they're throwing bombs over Carlton Davis to continue
- 36:52Speaker 4: the you know, chew the clock up. This week they
- 36:56Speaker 4: were able to stop them twice. That's that's big progress.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Listen, nothing says football season like firing up the
- 37:05Speaker 2: grill in the backyard and having a cookout. And the
- 37:08Speaker 2: best cookouts have the best looking lawns. And that brings
- 37:11Speaker 2: me to Arrans. The lawns that are cut with an
- 37:13Speaker 2: Aaron's mower are the best looking lawns. Aarons, the official
- 37:17Speaker 2: lawnmower of the New England Patriots, is proud to help
- 37:20Speaker 2: Patriots fans get back to football. Visit www Dot Aarons
- 37:24Speaker 2: dot com to find your errands.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Starting to wind down the grassroom mowent a little bit now, Yeah,
- 37:31Speaker 3: starts to get cooler.
- 37:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I really need it, because I told you I
- 37:34Speaker 4: was planning on doing it last weekend and I didn't
- 37:37Speaker 4: now I'm like scrambling. I'm not gonna be able to
- 37:39Speaker 4: do it this weekend. I don't need an an. There's
- 37:43Speaker 4: a power right through, even if it's a little long.
- 37:46Speaker 4: That's what you know.
- 37:46Speaker 3: When you wait too long, then you know my mower
- 37:48Speaker 3: it's not an errand so I probably need to get
- 37:50Speaker 3: one because.
- 37:50Speaker 1: It struggles when the grass, you know, and they said
- 37:52Speaker 1: by a week or two.
- 37:53Speaker 4: And it doesn't get along to the point where I
- 37:55Speaker 4: can't mow it.
- 37:55Speaker 2: No, no do errate and thatch. In this fall, I
- 37:58Speaker 2: try to thatch a little bit.
- 38:00Speaker 1: I try to thatch. I haven't overseated yet, but maybe
- 38:02Speaker 1: next year. Don't do that. In the spring, I don't
- 38:05Speaker 1: do anything.
- 38:06Speaker 2: You don't do any of that.
- 38:07Speaker 1: No, mine's all just weeds and I just mow it.
- 38:09Speaker 1: And I've just moted enough. There's nothing.
- 38:12Speaker 4: It's nothing like when you mow it and it's like
- 38:16Speaker 4: maybe like twilight, you know, a little dark, not quite dark,
- 38:19Speaker 4: but you look and you're like, yeah, I know, hunt,
- 38:22Speaker 4: I know how long looks fantastic because you don't see
- 38:24Speaker 4: all the little bear spots all the right, just dark
- 38:28Speaker 4: enough that it all looks not set.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Out on the front steps and watching them like it
- 38:31Speaker 3: almost like a golf course out there.
- 38:33Speaker 4: Right now, You like that like an hour after you
- 38:35Speaker 4: mow it, But when then you get up at like
- 38:36Speaker 4: ten o'clock the next morning, you're like.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Different. And yeah, all.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Right, let's go to Eddie Eddie in l A on
- 38:45Speaker 2: the hotline. What's up Eddie.
- 38:49Speaker 10: Eddie's going guys? I just wanted to ask real quick.
- 38:55Speaker 8: I know Evan.
- 38:57Speaker 10: I think it was Evan that just said that, like
- 38:58Speaker 10: he's not really worried about Jay Warren. And obviously Devon
- 39:02Speaker 10: a Shen is like a different animal. He's highly explosive.
- 39:05Speaker 10: But I also don't know if the defense is, you know,
- 39:09Speaker 10: fast enough to cover the good pass catching running backs.
- 39:15Speaker 10: And I just don't want to see JAYL. Warren have
- 39:17Speaker 10: a big game because last week he did have like
- 39:19Speaker 10: an explosive catch that he took for like fifty yards
- 39:22Speaker 10: I think, and then the week before he did have
- 39:24Speaker 10: a receiving touchdown. So I just want to know what
- 39:27Speaker 10: you got. How do you guys think like you could
- 39:28Speaker 10: shut down Jenla Warren in the passing game. That's all
- 39:30Speaker 10: I got for you, guys.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Okay, thanks, that's a good question, and I would definitely
- 39:33Speaker 3: look it's the Patriots linebackers are you know, a very
- 39:36Speaker 3: low you've got You've got to target them. If I'm Pittsburgh,
- 39:39Speaker 3: I've got to test that out. So you know, I
- 39:40Speaker 3: would find a way to use John new Smith, use
- 39:43Speaker 3: Jalen Warren and try to get them matched up. I
- 39:46Speaker 3: think some of it is a little bit of scheme,
- 39:48Speaker 3: and you know, Splaine just put in tough, tough spots
- 39:52Speaker 3: with you know, in space. I mean, there's not a
- 39:53Speaker 3: lot of linebackers in the league that can man up
- 39:57Speaker 3: on Devin Hm. Well, he's already got a little bit
- 39:59Speaker 3: of ahead of steam. So you know, hopefully those guys
- 40:01Speaker 3: start to getting gear. I mean, I think it's critical
- 40:03Speaker 3: for the for the defense, and I just it's been
- 40:05Speaker 3: a couple of tough matchups right out of the gate.
- 40:07Speaker 3: There's been some issues. Trying to be patient, but I'd
- 40:09Speaker 3: expect Steelers to target.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Him for sure. Middle of the field.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Middle of the field. Yeah, okay, let's go to Providence, Randy.
- 40:20Speaker 11: Hey, guys, how's it going to that?
- 40:24Speaker 6: So?
- 40:24Speaker 11: Yeah, I called to ask I word about Roberts Blaine.
- 40:27Speaker 11: I mean, through two games, his production just hasn't been
- 40:29Speaker 11: what you saw on Vegas and I mean I think that, like,
- 40:33Speaker 11: not only is the a liability and coverage, but there
- 40:35Speaker 11: are times that he's just almost wortting lost out there,
- 40:38Speaker 11: like it's just not sure where he needs to be.
- 40:40Speaker 11: He's kind of floating around the action but not really
- 40:42Speaker 11: part of it. And I wonder if you guys are
- 40:45Speaker 11: concerned about like his fit in this defense. And then
- 40:48Speaker 11: you guys were talking about Jalen Ramsey earlier, and I mean,
- 40:50Speaker 11: I think that he's getting a little older. He's on
- 40:53Speaker 11: the wrong side of thirty, but he's done playing like
- 40:56Speaker 11: with his air on fire. In the past couple of
- 40:57Speaker 11: games from Pittsburgh, if you're watching those games, well off,
- 41:01Speaker 11: he's hit the hard pass break up left and right. Uh,
- 41:05Speaker 11: he have the Garrett Wilson one that sealed the game,
- 41:07Speaker 11: but he had a couple more last week too, and
- 41:09Speaker 11: in an interception, And I just wonder, like, how you
- 41:13Speaker 11: think we're gonna deal with him?
- 41:16Speaker 1: I almost I mean on Spleen, I almost thought the opposite.
- 41:18Speaker 3: I wonder if he's overthinking things and just getting too
- 41:21Speaker 3: much in his own head and just just play, dude.
- 41:23Speaker 1: You you're you know you're a good linebacker. You've tackled people.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Before, uh, you know, trying to force turnovers, trying to
- 41:29Speaker 3: you know, launch himself and then he gets to the tackle.
- 41:31Speaker 3: We know that play I'm talking about. Uh, I we
- 41:35Speaker 3: go in the locker room today. He usually he's talked.
- 41:36Speaker 3: I think last Wednesday he talked To'll be curious to
- 41:38Speaker 3: get by his locker to hear him talk. I mean, catain,
- 41:40Speaker 3: he should, he should talk. And somebody else pointed out
- 41:43Speaker 3: what I pointed out yesterday that I think was Reese
- 41:45Speaker 3: actually just saying. The look on Robert Splaine's face after
- 41:48Speaker 3: that game was not somebody who was excited about that.
- 41:50Speaker 3: They just want a game, So I mean, don't worry
- 41:51Speaker 3: about the extremely upset that.
- 41:53Speaker 2: They don't worry about the big hit, just settle.
- 41:55Speaker 1: In and play.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Get out to his point, though, like I have noticed,
- 41:59Speaker 4: he seems to like out of position at times, especially
- 42:01Speaker 4: in the run game, you know, like he's jumping gaps
- 42:04Speaker 4: and picking the wrong one. And I'm not sure, you know,
- 42:07Speaker 4: I don't know. Obviously, I'm not privy to what the
- 42:10Speaker 4: calls are and what he's spoke, you know, what his
- 42:12Speaker 4: his job description is, but it does seem like he's
- 42:14Speaker 4: taking himself out of some plays as well, as some
- 42:16Speaker 4: of the mistackles that Mike is talking about. It's a
- 42:20Speaker 4: couple of games. He's obviously familiar with his defense. He's
- 42:23Speaker 4: played in it before. So again I'm going to go
- 42:27Speaker 4: back to that small sample sized thing. It hasn't been good.
- 42:29Speaker 4: I'm not trying to sugarcoat it. He hasn't played well. No,
- 42:32Speaker 4: but but I know what you're saying, play than this.
- 42:34Speaker 3: Yeah, on that eight chance touchdown where you know, it's
- 42:36Speaker 3: like he set closer to the sideline like he's kind
- 42:39Speaker 3: of waiting, and it's like the model of the middle
- 42:41Speaker 3: of the field is wide open, and you know, like
- 42:43Speaker 3: we talked about the that that should have been the priority.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Like I'd rather force two or to throw the out
- 42:47Speaker 3: than to throw just a little slant across the middle,
- 42:50Speaker 3: easy pass and then it's a sixth.
- 42:51Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm not going to get two worked up.
- 42:54Speaker 1: I mean, I know no one is more sad than
- 42:55Speaker 1: Robertspaline about this.
- 42:57Speaker 3: That's why I think would be interesting to hear from
- 42:59Speaker 3: today and see what his mindset is.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Joan into this week.
- 43:02Speaker 2: Sounds good, Cody writes in props to the first caller yesterday,
- 43:07Speaker 2: forty minutes into the show, talking about the Dolphins game,
- 43:10Speaker 2: He asked, so, what did you think of the game?
- 43:14Speaker 2: Question for today? What do you think about the Steelers game?
- 43:17Speaker 2: What we've been talking about Cody. He's been all over
- 43:20Speaker 2: me though, he's been writing all these nasty emails. I
- 43:23Speaker 2: love it about shortening the pregame, show us that you were.
- 43:29Speaker 4: Going to do that we actually did, you.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Know, he always been all over me.
- 43:34Speaker 4: That's the one guy.
- 43:37Speaker 1: I think the our Frea game is great, you know what.
- 43:39Speaker 4: I know. What I really like, though, is the the
- 43:41Speaker 4: increase of Cody is the latest of the caller on
- 43:44Speaker 4: cod Crime, the emailer email.
- 43:47Speaker 2: I love it for absolutely. Darius Sis Spallaine actually looks
- 43:53Speaker 2: like an undrafted player so far. I hope he cleans
- 43:55Speaker 2: it up. Yeah, I mean he we know he can
- 43:59Speaker 2: do it. He's so let's just yeah, just get get
- 44:03Speaker 2: right here.
- 44:03Speaker 3: I think it was just so surprising as he just
- 44:04Speaker 3: exudes such confidence, and I mean he has the stats
- 44:07Speaker 3: from the last couple of years. I mean, the guy's
- 44:08Speaker 3: all over the field making tackles, you know, so at
- 44:12Speaker 3: the very least I thought he'd be able to do that.
- 44:14Speaker 1: The hope for me was, alright, he's going to be
- 44:16Speaker 1: a tackling machine.
- 44:16Speaker 3: But is he going to be able to have the
- 44:18Speaker 3: tackles for loss, the passes, defense, the you know, pressures
- 44:21Speaker 3: and they have been using him as a pass rusher
- 44:23Speaker 3: a little bit, so he has he has delivered.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Some of that, but you know, the other stuff, not
- 44:28Speaker 1: really at all.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Yep, David writes in He's from the Philippines. Uh, this
- 44:37Speaker 2: is my worry about this week's game. Good Pittsburgh has
- 44:40Speaker 2: only been called for six penalties totaling forty one yards
- 44:43Speaker 2: so far this season. That's tied for the least penalties
- 44:46Speaker 2: called against in the entire NFL. Unfortunately, our team has
- 44:49Speaker 2: had twenty one penalties in two games, which is tied
- 44:52Speaker 2: for second worst. We really need to clean up the mistakes.
- 44:56Speaker 2: We got away with twelve penalties against Miami in large
- 44:59Speaker 2: part because they also made a lot of mistakes. They
- 45:02Speaker 2: had ten penalties on their side, so we only were
- 45:04Speaker 2: two behind. Pittsburgh won't likely do that if we can
- 45:08Speaker 2: find a way to clean up our act and play
- 45:10Speaker 2: with minimum errors, and I think we have a shot.
- 45:12Speaker 2: If we continue to shoot ourselves in the head every
- 45:14Speaker 2: four or five plays, we won't. So it's interesting because
- 45:18Speaker 2: Rabel was talking about that, and he was saying that,
- 45:22Speaker 2: you know, his metrics, his key metrics aren't the team
- 45:26Speaker 2: with the least amount of penalties. It's quarterback rating, it's
- 45:29Speaker 2: run differential, and I think one other things and turnovers.
- 45:33Speaker 4: That's win rate, win rate.
- 45:35Speaker 2: And then you know, and he mentioned the stat with
- 45:40Speaker 2: you know, he said he looked it up and teams
- 45:42Speaker 2: that have the more penalties, you know, win lose at
- 45:46Speaker 2: about fifty percent. It's I think they lose at about
- 45:49Speaker 2: fifty three percent, so they only win forty but it
- 45:52Speaker 2: is around fifty percent where those other metrics he mentioned,
- 45:54Speaker 2: it is a big difference in win rate.
- 45:57Speaker 3: Well, when you're not the most talented team, I think
- 45:59Speaker 3: you can afford to live in the margins a little
- 46:01Speaker 3: bit more. And for a new team that you're trying
- 46:04Speaker 3: to instill, you know, one hand, you want them to
- 46:06Speaker 3: be aggressive and tough and snarly and all those things
- 46:09Speaker 3: that they're trying to put into this defense and you know,
- 46:12Speaker 3: and offense personality wise, but you've got to be able
- 46:15Speaker 3: to clean.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Up those things.
- 46:16Speaker 3: So even if you know it's not the biggest priority obviously,
- 46:20Speaker 3: especially being at home, help a little bit.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Too in Pittsburgh or you know, They've always been a
- 46:25Speaker 2: highly you know, in the past, when they were really good,
- 46:27Speaker 2: they had a lot of penalty Yeah, you know, but
- 46:30Speaker 2: they were so good that could overcome it. When you're
- 46:32Speaker 2: a middling team or not too good, you can't afford
- 46:35Speaker 2: any mistake. I would just say, even the slightest off side,
- 46:38Speaker 2: just the rails everything.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Look at the Dolphins last week.
- 46:40Speaker 4: You know, I heard my talking about that and he said,
- 46:43Speaker 4: you know, early in his coaching career in Tennessee, he
- 46:46Speaker 4: was considered himself a little bit of a playoff nazi.
- 46:49Speaker 4: Like he got he went out of his mind playoff
- 46:51Speaker 4: a penalty. Sorry, yes, And he went back and he looked,
- 46:56Speaker 4: I just feel like that that is so short sighted,
- 47:00Speaker 4: like to suggest, well, we went back and looked at
- 47:03Speaker 4: the data. The team that had more penalties doesn't necessarily lose. Well, like, so,
- 47:09Speaker 4: does that mean you should try to commit penalties?
- 47:10Speaker 2: Like, No, that's not what he's saying.
- 47:13Speaker 4: So he has his three win rate things right. So
- 47:16Speaker 4: on Sunday, just out of you know, your quarterback played
- 47:19Speaker 4: the best game of his career and won the quarterback
- 47:21Speaker 4: rating battle. You were plus one in turnovers, and you
- 47:25Speaker 4: had double the rushing yardage. So why do we need
- 47:28Speaker 4: to go down to the last play of the game.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Maybe because we committed twelve penalties? Yeah, like everything is important,
- 47:35Speaker 4: like to see. And I know that Mike is not
- 47:37Speaker 4: saying penalties aren't important. I know that's not what he's saying.
- 47:40Speaker 4: But I just thought that was a little bit of
- 47:42Speaker 4: a lase fair attitude to it. The penalties. I think, well,
- 47:44Speaker 4: that's not really you know, an indicator of winning. Well, yeah,
- 47:48Speaker 4: I know, like did you play better or not? Like
- 47:50Speaker 4: that's usually the indicator of winning.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Knowing him, he's trying to he's probably trying to nip
- 47:54Speaker 2: that narrative in the bud and a week long thing
- 47:57Speaker 2: that you know, penalties, penalties, penalties, and he's trying to
- 48:01Speaker 2: but you know, I can't imagine he does. He doesn't
- 48:04Speaker 2: care if his team.
- 48:05Speaker 4: Yeah that's what I said. I'm not suggesting that he
- 48:07Speaker 4: doesn't care about penalties, right, I just thought there was
- 48:10Speaker 4: some of the some of the explanation to me was
- 48:13Speaker 4: a little short sighted. That's not a good way to
- 48:17Speaker 4: go about business. And was that a press conference or
- 48:20Speaker 4: was on the I think it was on the radio.
- 48:22Speaker 2: The radio.
- 48:22Speaker 3: It was one of the how he talks to his
- 48:24Speaker 3: team about it or you know, like he'd asked a
- 48:26Speaker 3: question and don't.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Worry about the penalty.
- 48:29Speaker 4: I mean, no, No, there is an element like and
- 48:32Speaker 4: it's not really nowadays because you can't really you can't
- 48:36Speaker 4: really play with an intimidating you know, nature like you
- 48:38Speaker 4: used to. But the Raiders that was part of their DNA, right.
- 48:41Speaker 4: You know, we're going to commit penalties, We're gonna kind
- 48:44Speaker 4: of do it intentionally because we're going to try to intimidate,
- 48:46Speaker 4: and that's how you know we're gonna end up winning
- 48:48Speaker 4: games as a result. I mean, teams don't really do
- 48:51Speaker 4: that anymore.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Well, the rules don't allow.
- 48:53Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying.
- 48:53Speaker 2: You're gonna get kicked out if you do what they did.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Uh.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Sean is in Virginia. Yeah, what's up, Sean?
- 49:02Speaker 1: How you guys doing, Sean?
- 49:05Speaker 12: Yeah, that's two point I want to make. Like the
- 49:07Speaker 12: first one is like, uh, like when I kept reirating
- 49:09Speaker 12: about like how the reason why the Patreparon was able
- 49:12Speaker 12: to replicate the success that the coach were able to
- 49:14Speaker 12: do against the Dolphins, I keep talking about the linebackers.
- 49:17Speaker 12: Libreck is not able to cover very well, move very well,
- 49:21Speaker 12: you know, and uh, and the safety player is not
- 49:24Speaker 12: as as great, so like say, it would be hard
- 49:27Speaker 12: for them and got like tours as far as try
- 49:30Speaker 12: to attack the zone. Uh and despite where he likes
- 49:33Speaker 12: to go in to the middle of the field. Now
- 49:34Speaker 12: with the second point, like the attack is that, I
- 49:36Speaker 12: really think they should really play Kyrie wins in this
- 49:38Speaker 12: game because that's certain things that I see with Jay
- 49:41Speaker 12: with Dylan Ramsey, like, I feel like they can attack him,
- 49:45Speaker 12: especially if he's playing safety in this game because he's
- 49:48Speaker 12: so sipping. He struggled against the shifty with our receivers, uh,
- 49:51Speaker 12: you know with the certain zones, just like where he
- 49:53Speaker 12: got beat on that touchdown on the right side by
- 49:54Speaker 12: that by Smith a jig. But I think one of
- 49:56Speaker 12: those receivers, I forget their name, but I really think
- 49:58Speaker 12: they should play Hie wins this game because of that.
- 50:00Speaker 12: That's all I wanted to say.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Okay, thanks Sean to Shawn, Okay, yeah, all right, okay, yeah,
- 50:07Speaker 2: I hope, I hope the coaches are listening. Get him
- 50:09Speaker 2: out to get the game plan here right on Patriots Unfiltered.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Well, I think they tried to take a shot to him,
- 50:14Speaker 3: like the second play of the game where they had
- 50:16Speaker 3: like three tight ends and he was the only receiver
- 50:18Speaker 3: out and was.
- 50:19Speaker 4: The very slow developing pass was a deep ball designed
- 50:23Speaker 4: for him that he got sacked.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Only guy on the route, only guy on the route.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Danny's and Daytona d.
- 50:34Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:36Speaker 13: So I just had a couple of takes for you guys.
- 50:40Speaker 13: I wanted to say I didn't get to call in
- 50:43Speaker 13: on Tuesday, but UH, I wanted to mention that I was.
- 50:49Speaker 13: I was pleased with the performance on Tuesday or Sunday,
- 50:54Speaker 13: but I did not like UH the first week's game
- 50:58Speaker 13: with the Raiders. I agree with everybody's take on how
- 51:01Speaker 13: they should have won that game, but I'm glad they
- 51:04Speaker 13: turned it around. There's a couple of things I wanted
- 51:06Speaker 13: to mention with you guys. Paul, one of one of
- 51:09Speaker 13: your guys from your show was talking about UH about
- 51:12Speaker 13: how they should have just ran it back with Gerraw
- 51:14Speaker 13: because the defense looks just about the same as it
- 51:16Speaker 13: did last year. I know there are some new guys,
- 51:19Speaker 13: the communication it just looks terrible. And I don't know
- 51:23Speaker 13: if Mike Rabel should just call plays until Terrell's back
- 51:27Speaker 13: or what they should do, or maybe they should bring
- 51:29Speaker 13: an advisor and I don't know, it doesn't look great.
- 51:32Speaker 12: It doesn't look good at all.
- 51:33Speaker 13: And then the other take, did you guys see freaking
- 51:36Speaker 13: Taekwon Thornton? So what is up with all these Patriots
- 51:39Speaker 13: players leading the Patriots? Those are the chiefs and they
- 51:42Speaker 13: look like real NFL players?
- 51:44Speaker 2: Is this something?
- 51:44Speaker 13: Is it just a lack that we can't develop skill
- 51:47Speaker 13: players or like? What is that?
- 51:50Speaker 2: So?
- 51:50Speaker 4: I don't think they're being very many of those rank
- 51:53Speaker 4: I mean, I would say John Smith would be the
- 51:55Speaker 4: example of one of those guys that success he left,
- 51:59Speaker 4: But I mean for everyone of those, I can come
- 52:01Speaker 4: up with a you know, Juju who's done nothing since
- 52:03Speaker 4: he left.
- 52:04Speaker 3: And Taekwony, like everything I've seen, looks like a different person.
- 52:10Speaker 4: I'm sorry he's he's made some big plays for them,
- 52:15Speaker 4: he's been just like you would think Mahomes can make
- 52:18Speaker 4: anybody look good. I'm going to give Mahomes the credit
- 52:21Speaker 4: for that rather than you know Thornton. But that's me
- 52:23Speaker 4: being stubborn exact. But like Nikhil Harry, like he had
- 52:26Speaker 4: a couple of opportunities elsewhere, did he ever look any like?
- 52:29Speaker 4: I don't think there are very many guys that skill
- 52:31Speaker 4: position guys I'm talking about that have left and gone
- 52:34Speaker 4: on to greener pastors and all of a sudden, But geez,
- 52:36Speaker 4: he couldn't do anything here. Jakobe Myers did exactly what
- 52:39Speaker 4: he's doing with the Raiders. He did with the Patriots.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, he's one that. Yeah, I mean, he's
- 52:43Speaker 1: done with everybody. I meant John Raiders. Yeah, I mean,
- 52:48Speaker 1: but but.
- 52:49Speaker 2: He was a good player here, and he's a good
- 52:50Speaker 2: player there.
- 52:51Speaker 4: He was good. That's good, that's perfectly poet. I mean
- 52:54Speaker 4: he's he's still good.
- 52:55Speaker 1: Yeah, he's just in.
- 52:56Speaker 3: He's still good, right, And I mean he would have
- 52:58Speaker 3: been worth the money he able to paid because he
- 53:00Speaker 3: would have been.
- 53:00Speaker 2: But the amount of guys who weren't good here that
- 53:04Speaker 2: ended up being good on other teams, that's a small,
- 53:07Speaker 2: much smaller list.
- 53:08Speaker 4: Yeah, And lately, like in the last four or five years,
- 53:11Speaker 4: there have been some guys that have left and they've succeeded,
- 53:15Speaker 4: but not like the skilled guy like the wide receivers
- 53:17Speaker 4: is what we're talking about. Aston Barrier, I'm going to
- 53:19Speaker 4: be very surprised to see. Yeah, that's not only was
- 53:21Speaker 4: he's done nothing like Nelson, you know, Nelson Agalor I.
- 53:25Speaker 1: Mean a little bit.
- 53:26Speaker 4: They're just like there, Like Agalore isn't any different than
- 53:30Speaker 4: he was in the Patriots. He's a second secondary guy.
- 53:33Speaker 4: He's like a fourth receiver.
- 53:35Speaker 8: You know.
- 53:36Speaker 4: You could make an argument, well, he's on a better
- 53:38Speaker 4: team now, so that's why he's just like hanging on
- 53:43Speaker 4: in the league.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Yeah. One thing I do want to push back a
- 53:47Speaker 2: little bit about the defense. Yes, the numbers say that
- 53:51Speaker 2: they're having the same problems they had last year, but
- 53:54Speaker 2: if I look at elements of this defense this year,
- 53:58Speaker 2: I can see where they could be better. Yeah, and
- 54:01Speaker 2: not just like on paper. I mean Landry and Milton
- 54:05Speaker 2: Williams in the middle and and Barbara being back healthy.
- 54:11Speaker 2: I think eventually you're going to see a better defense
- 54:14Speaker 2: than you saw last year. Now that's a low bar, right,
- 54:17Speaker 2: but but I think you're going to see a better.
- 54:20Speaker 4: Basically turn the whole unit over.
- 54:22Speaker 12: Right.
- 54:23Speaker 2: But right now he's saying, oh, you might as well
- 54:25Speaker 2: have had the same defense as I think right now,
- 54:28Speaker 2: right right, But I think you're going to see eventually
- 54:31Speaker 2: that this this defense gets better.
- 54:33Speaker 4: I think so, I mean, I mean it'll be better.
- 54:36Speaker 3: Yeah, they I mean they have some talent now, and
- 54:39Speaker 3: they just have to come together and again two games
- 54:42Speaker 3: like to hear what they have to.
- 54:43Speaker 1: Say about it. Those guy's in the locker room.
- 54:45Speaker 8: Yep.
- 54:46Speaker 2: So we're getting on. Uh, we're coming up to Variable
- 54:48Speaker 2: pretty soon. So up here we go. So I think
- 54:51Speaker 2: we need to go to vrabel Alex Is that right?
- 54:57Speaker 2: Maybe not not yet?
- 54:59Speaker 1: Okay, scribes are ready, scribes are waiting.
- 55:02Speaker 2: The scribes are ready, but he's not there yet.
- 55:04Speaker 4: Okay, there's a live look in from one of my shows.
- 55:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what everybody wants to see, the backheads of
- 55:10Speaker 3: the media.
- 55:11Speaker 2: I just want to make sure we it's I'm just
- 55:13Speaker 2: not mine, you know. While we're waiting.
- 55:14Speaker 4: It's like an eclipse.

- 55:50Speaker 3: You wear the brunt work boots very comfortab Yeahry you
- 55:53Speaker 3: didn't get them dirty at all, did you?
- 55:54Speaker 2: Nope, that's the thing that's so nice.
- 55:56Speaker 1: I don't want to wear them.
- 55:57Speaker 2: I got to get the other ones.
- 55:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I think called the barrens.
- 56:00Speaker 1: Get him chewed up a little bit, just typical looking work.
- 56:05Speaker 4: Do you think can you see yourself like shoveling snow,
- 56:08Speaker 4: getting the the Aaron snowblower out there?
- 56:10Speaker 2: Absolutely with those on runs.
- 56:12Speaker 4: That's what I'm gonna have to do. These are my
- 56:15Speaker 4: new uh my new snow boots. Yes, So I don't
- 56:17Speaker 4: want them to be too nice that I don't feel comfortable,
- 56:20Speaker 4: you know, cleaning my.
- 56:21Speaker 2: Yards very comfortable.
- 56:22Speaker 1: It's all on you know, Paul, you know you no help?
- 56:25Speaker 4: Yeah, and a lot has changed in that regard me too,
- 56:30Speaker 4: my too useless. But I can't even call the other
- 56:32Speaker 4: one a putting pop anymore for what he's doing right now.
- 56:34Speaker 1: So yeah, he's he's got a he's got a pretty
- 56:37Speaker 1: good tough.
- 56:37Speaker 4: To get to talk to. Him last night. His voice
- 56:39Speaker 4: is all raspy. It's so funny.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Used to get yelled at uh Low and Philly.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Small note on Stevenson's two point conversion Sunday. It was
- 56:49Speaker 2: one of my favorite plays of the game, simply for
- 56:51Speaker 2: the offensive lines, excitement.
- 56:53Speaker 1: After great that's a great call out, Wilson.
- 56:55Speaker 2: Bradbury and on when you moved Miami's D line to
- 56:57Speaker 2: another zip code and after the play the excite and
- 57:00Speaker 2: Jared Wilson showed was contagious.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Yep, I agree, I agree. I clocked that too. It's
- 57:04Speaker 1: a good call out.
- 57:05Speaker 6: It was.
- 57:05Speaker 3: It was cool to see, and you know, it's just
- 57:07Speaker 3: you know, Jared Wilson had been on the journey with
- 57:08Speaker 3: him a little bit, didn't know what to expect of him.
- 57:11Speaker 3: People were very high on his athleticism, thought he was
- 57:13Speaker 3: going to be a center, had kind of a position
- 57:15Speaker 3: battle all summer, and.
- 57:16Speaker 4: It's true, I thought he would be starting at center
- 57:18Speaker 4: and the guard.
- 57:19Speaker 3: But it's you know, it's it's always fun to see
- 57:21Speaker 3: how this point, how they fit in where they're going
- 57:23Speaker 3: to end up. And you know, there was even a
- 57:24Speaker 3: period of time where people are like, is he even
- 57:26Speaker 3: the right guy? And you know, just to see him
- 57:29Speaker 3: have a kind of tough game last week and then
- 57:31Speaker 3: come in this week and and have that play to
- 57:33Speaker 3: kind of seal it off and you can just see
- 57:34Speaker 3: the again. For me, it's all about just building confidence
- 57:37Speaker 3: and building belief, and those are plays where I really
- 57:40Speaker 3: feel like you see it coming off the field with
- 57:42Speaker 3: those guys.
- 57:42Speaker 2: Yeah, good stuff. Let's see Matt and Wichita Kansas. If
- 57:48Speaker 2: you're saying we should expect a lot of man and
- 57:51Speaker 2: a lot of blitzing from Pittsburgh, do you think this
- 57:53Speaker 2: is a good game to sneak in a little Kyle Williams.
- 57:57Speaker 2: He would likely be up against their third best pass coverage,
- 58:00Speaker 2: and I don't think the league has really seen what
- 58:02Speaker 2: he can do. I think he's the best downfield threat
- 58:04Speaker 2: on the team, and the Patriots haven't really shown him yet.
- 58:07Speaker 3: Well, I think that they tried to on that second play,
- 58:09Speaker 3: and I think that's just a little glimpse of you know,
- 58:12Speaker 3: how Josh I think, is gonna try to sneak him
- 58:14Speaker 3: in struggling think him back like of former draft picks
- 58:19Speaker 3: that made the team, and we're going to develop and
- 58:21Speaker 3: play and how Josh got them into the system, got
- 58:24Speaker 3: them experience, when they were young.
- 58:26Speaker 8: You know.
- 58:27Speaker 3: Edelman is like a weird example because he kind of
- 58:29Speaker 3: got thrown into the mix when Woker got hurt like
- 58:31Speaker 3: week two, and yeah, you know, yeah, I agree, it's
- 58:33Speaker 3: kind of tough. So I don't know, maybe you guys,
- 58:36Speaker 3: maybe that's something that you guys.
- 58:38Speaker 4: I mean, McDaniels, they haven't developed a lot of I receivers.
- 58:41Speaker 1: In a long time.
- 58:42Speaker 4: You know, was McDaniels here from Malcolm Mitchell? Is that
- 58:48Speaker 4: like helped me out with my timeline. So he you know,
- 58:50Speaker 4: he was he was injured a little bit, but he
- 58:53Speaker 4: I mean he he probably contributed as much as a
- 58:55Speaker 4: rookie as any any of the rookie receivers did. He
- 59:00Speaker 4: would be one in that positive category. For the most part,
- 59:03Speaker 4: it's been a struggle. I mean, it's well documented they
- 59:06Speaker 4: haven't done well at that position. You know, we'll see
- 59:10Speaker 4: if it's any different with Kyle Williams. I don't really
- 59:16Speaker 4: I agree that he could be a good downfield option
- 59:19Speaker 4: for them if they're looking to stretch the field, But otherwise,
- 59:24Speaker 4: I'm kind of comfortable with sort of the three for
- 59:27Speaker 4: four spots that they have going, you know, and if
- 59:30Speaker 4: they have different game plan ideas with Mac Collins and
- 59:33Speaker 4: to Mario Douglas. That made perfect sense to me. Even
- 59:37Speaker 4: an idiot like me who's not breaking down the x's
- 59:39Speaker 4: and o's, I can understand what we wanted to be
- 59:41Speaker 4: a little bit more physical. We wanted to sort of
- 59:43Speaker 4: be more versatile out of you know, some of these formations,
- 59:47Speaker 4: and we wanted to make something look the same run pass.
- 59:51Speaker 4: You know, with with Douglas on the field, you probably
- 59:54Speaker 4: pretty much know it's pass because he's not going to
- 59:56Speaker 4: be as you know, effective in the blocking game. So
- 59:59Speaker 4: with Mac Collins you might get a little bit more versatility.
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: So I kind of like those three for the four spots,
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: and if Kyle Williams can continue to progress and works
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: his way into that mix, I think that'd be great.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Yeah all right, Well, waiting for Mike Rabel. It's a
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: little late, not like him usually. What's that.
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: Up here?
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: We go?
- 1:00:19Speaker 8: Good? Yeah, so far, so good.
- 1:00:23Speaker 14: It's been about three years since his team put together
- 1:00:28Speaker 14: back to back wins. How important is it in the
- 1:00:33Speaker 14: culture what you're trying to build, you know, to get
- 1:00:36Speaker 14: some moments on you with streams.
- 1:00:39Speaker 15: It's always important to win as many games as you
- 1:00:41Speaker 15: possibly can. There's a lot of stats here, guys that
- 1:00:45Speaker 15: I'm not familiar with, nor am.
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: I concerned with.
- 1:00:49Speaker 15: Right the focus is, you know, trying to build some
- 1:00:52Speaker 15: consistency which would then lead to confidence and continue to
- 1:00:57Speaker 15: build on what we did and prove the things that
- 1:01:00Speaker 15: we have to fix, uh and then continue to eliminate
- 1:01:03Speaker 15: some of the things that we feel like I could
- 1:01:06Speaker 15: could get your beat and uh so I'm excited about
- 1:01:09Speaker 15: doing that today through meetings and practice and getting them
- 1:01:13Speaker 15: to uh, you know, get ready for a new opponent.
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: Just like we did last week.
- 1:01:17Speaker 15: We we cleared the deck and and focused on on
- 1:01:22Speaker 15: the next opponent.
- 1:01:23Speaker 16: Like how is Terrell feeling and what do you expect
- 1:01:26Speaker 16: from him this week?
- 1:01:27Speaker 8: In terms of it's.
- 1:01:27Speaker 15: Involved, I'd say he's feeling better. I think that we'll
- 1:01:32Speaker 15: probably be upright and under the same premise. I mean,
- 1:01:35Speaker 15: Terrell's around. I just you know, want to try to
- 1:01:38Speaker 15: get some continuity and you know, with the situation probably
- 1:01:42Speaker 15: being fluid, you know, we'll stick to to the same
- 1:01:47Speaker 15: plan kind of that we had last week. I'll just
- 1:01:49Speaker 15: be uh more involved. I just want to make sure
- 1:01:53Speaker 15: that we're not in and.
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: Out and in and out.
- 1:01:55Speaker 15: That's all Christian I would expect him to do some
- 1:02:00Speaker 15: stuff today at practice, Like.
- 1:02:02Speaker 9: On Sunday Travion had revolving calls.
- 1:02:06Speaker 15: Do you play on working with him this week with
- 1:02:09Speaker 15: the lecture with technique to try to minimize that happening
- 1:02:12Speaker 15: try namp again. Yeah, obviously, I mean, of course, and
- 1:02:15Speaker 15: we believe, you know, in Trayvion's ability to protect him.
- 1:02:19Speaker 15: That's one thing that we think that he can do.
- 1:02:22Speaker 15: And I think if you ask Antonio, Antonio.
- 1:02:26Speaker 8: Would probably be as much at fault as the one
- 1:02:31Speaker 8: on the kickoff return.
- 1:02:32Speaker 15: I mean, I don't think you can really bounce the
- 1:02:35Speaker 15: ball out when we're kicking somebody out by the sideline,
- 1:02:38Speaker 15: So that one, I'll give him a pass on, you know.
- 1:02:43Speaker 15: The other ones, we just have to make sure we
- 1:02:44Speaker 15: keep our head up, stay square, and be able to
- 1:02:48Speaker 15: move our feet and not let them beat our feet
- 1:02:49Speaker 15: and grab them. So you know, two's too many, so
- 1:02:54Speaker 15: we'll just keep working on it.
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: If Christian is doing stuff in practice today, does that
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: Sunday possibility for sure?
- 1:03:02Speaker 17: Like one of the things we have to do with
- 1:03:05Speaker 17: talk about injuries is every we're not supposed to speculate,
- 1:03:08Speaker 17: but everybody's speculate as us coach, you said, how long
- 1:03:10Speaker 17: is it gonna be? He is beating at that when
- 1:03:13Speaker 17: something is imagined to take a shorter time and it
- 1:03:16Speaker 17: takes one.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: And I remember Bill talking about this.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: We don't talk about timeline because.
- 1:03:19Speaker 8: We don't over recipe around us.
- 1:03:21Speaker 17: But is it hard for a player to not have
- 1:03:26Speaker 17: his injury understood by the public?
- 1:03:29Speaker 15: I don't know, you know, I mean, I certainly nobody.
- 1:03:34Speaker 15: I guess if everybody's looking for somebody to blame and
- 1:03:36Speaker 15: I'm not, you know, I mean, I'm trying to just
- 1:03:39Speaker 15: get them back as soon as they can get back
- 1:03:41Speaker 15: and make sure that they're staying engaged, and then you know,
- 1:03:43Speaker 15: we have to decide how.
- 1:03:45Speaker 8: Long that's gonna be. Is a short term?
- 1:03:47Speaker 15: I are all these different things that come into it.
- 1:03:51Speaker 15: But but everybody wants to blame if it's not in
- 1:03:54Speaker 15: some window that the doctor on in twitter uh suggests
- 1:03:59Speaker 15: or recommends. Again, having had a numerous injuries, they all
- 1:04:04Speaker 15: recover differently, and bad players that have recovered, you know, differently,
- 1:04:07Speaker 15: and it's like, well, why did one injury take this long?
- 1:04:10Speaker 15: And is it you know, the player not working hard
- 1:04:12Speaker 15: to come back? Is it the trainer's fault? Is it
- 1:04:14Speaker 15: this person's fault. You know, I've said this. The injury
- 1:04:19Speaker 15: rated in professional football league is one hundred percent. If
- 1:04:22Speaker 15: you play this game long enough, you are guaranteed to
- 1:04:24Speaker 15: get injured. I don't think you can avoid that. I
- 1:04:27Speaker 15: think it's just how you handle it and you.
- 1:04:30Speaker 8: Know, kind of go from there. It just doesn't help you.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: Guys can put it off that how long somebody's gone to.
- 1:04:34Speaker 15: Go, But I mean why because it could be shorter,
- 1:04:37Speaker 15: it could be longer, and then when it doesn't meet
- 1:04:39Speaker 15: the timeline, then somebody's going to come back and say, well.
- 1:04:43Speaker 8: You said it was going to be two weeks. I
- 1:04:45Speaker 8: don't know.
- 1:04:46Speaker 15: So instead of being wrong every single time, I choose
- 1:04:50Speaker 15: to just try not to say a timeline. And if
- 1:04:53Speaker 15: they are back in a week, then great. If it
- 1:04:56Speaker 15: takes a couple of weeks, and there we are, and
- 1:04:59Speaker 15: let's go for everything.
- 1:05:00Speaker 17: From from a player's perspective, you.
- 1:05:03Speaker 8: Would hotly crap.
- 1:05:04Speaker 17: People are starting to take a stake it to.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: One that wish I could tell people what's wrong with me.
- 1:05:08Speaker 15: This is a big understand and and I think that
- 1:05:11Speaker 15: that's great in this case maybe, but then it's gonna
- 1:05:14Speaker 15: be the next thing and the next thing like people
- 1:05:15Speaker 15: are you're gonna write. You got all pads and recorders.
- 1:05:18Speaker 15: You're gonna write whatever you want to write. They're gonna
- 1:05:19Speaker 15: think whatever they want to think. You know, I think
- 1:05:23Speaker 15: where to that end? Where would you stop? You know,
- 1:05:26Speaker 15: where would you stop?
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: When you went back and watched the film, umturious what
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: you saw like the mistackles want.
- 1:05:32Speaker 8: To tackle much better.
- 1:05:32Speaker 15: We'll have to tackle Warren John hu Metcalf Austin. You know,
- 1:05:37Speaker 15: so that that's the focus. You know, that'll be a
- 1:05:42Speaker 15: critical part of this game plan. Those guys are great
- 1:05:44Speaker 15: with the boner hand. They run very hard, they're skilled,
- 1:05:46Speaker 15: they're big and uh present a challenge.
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: Aaron Rodgers twice when you're in Tennessee. What's the challenge
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: of facing him? And is he still look like the
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: save Aaron Rodgers that.
- 1:05:57Speaker 8: You saw, man, I think the ball can go.
- 1:05:58Speaker 15: I mean when you see him extend the play to
- 1:06:00Speaker 15: the right and throw it down sixty yards or whatever
- 1:06:02Speaker 15: that was.
- 1:06:03Speaker 8: His operation is excellent.
- 1:06:07Speaker 15: His ability to find relief throws and plays that aren't
- 1:06:12Speaker 15: that he doesn't think will be positive plays.
- 1:06:14Speaker 8: He finds relief throws.
- 1:06:16Speaker 15: You know, would be a great challenge to be able
- 1:06:19Speaker 15: to find ways to affect him.
- 1:06:23Speaker 14: Follow up.
- 1:06:24Speaker 8: What they're doing is Arthur's offense.
- 1:06:26Speaker 17: Versus how much of this is what arg has sort
- 1:06:29Speaker 17: of brought with him from Green Bay to New York.
- 1:06:31Speaker 15: And I think Arthur's done things with multiple quarterbacks. I mean,
- 1:06:36Speaker 15: is he doing what he did with with Ritter where
- 1:06:38Speaker 15: they're running the zone read No, But there's also other
- 1:06:41Speaker 15: elements that he's done a lot of.
- 1:06:43Speaker 8: And Aaron haven't played quarterback.
- 1:06:45Speaker 15: As long as he has, gonna have things that he likes,
- 1:06:47Speaker 15: and so I'd say it's a blend.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: I cat you have one last follow up with christ
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: Some players are getching to get back, maybe even too
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: early based on the injury.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: How does his mindset?
- 1:06:57Speaker 15: As you know the locker room will be open in
- 1:06:59Speaker 15: five minutes, be able to ask him. I'm not going
- 1:07:01Speaker 15: to speak for his mindset. I mean that's just I mean,
- 1:07:05Speaker 15: if you ask me about anybody's mindset right now, I'd
- 1:07:07Speaker 15: say you just feel free to ask them. They'll tell
- 1:07:09Speaker 15: you exactly what their mind's thinking.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: What have you learned about him when it.
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: Comes to motivation?
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: And let's let's you know, everyone is wired differently.
- 1:07:18Speaker 15: What do we really think that we can motivate really,
- 1:07:21Speaker 15: I mean, we're trying to inspire them. I think they're
- 1:07:23Speaker 15: all motivated. They're professional athletes, and if they're motivated by championships,
- 1:07:28Speaker 15: that's really great. If they're motivated in college because they
- 1:07:31Speaker 15: want to date the cheerleader, even better, if they're motivated
- 1:07:34Speaker 15: to earn a starting job, like I just think that
- 1:07:38Speaker 15: thinking that we have to motivate them. I want to
- 1:07:40Speaker 15: inspire them and give them confidence and trust that they
- 1:07:43Speaker 15: can go out there and do their job.
- 1:07:44Speaker 8: I think that's the.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: The player's personality.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: Do you have to approach each one different way?
- 1:07:49Speaker 8: Well, yeah, we do that all the way, you know.
- 1:07:50Speaker 15: I mean whether we're teaching them, whether we're trying to
- 1:07:52Speaker 15: inspire them, make a connection with them. I think you
- 1:07:55Speaker 15: just have to know the audience and know who they are. Again,
- 1:07:58Speaker 15: we've talked about having differ from personalities and trying to
- 1:08:01Speaker 15: have one one mindset and one mentality.
- 1:08:04Speaker 8: So you know, I think.
- 1:08:06Speaker 15: He's personally motivated, and I think he's earning a lot
- 1:08:11Speaker 15: of confidence, and I think just the decisiveness and the
- 1:08:15Speaker 15: ability to perform and seeing these things translate from the
- 1:08:19Speaker 15: first week to the second week was was really good.
- 1:08:23Speaker 16: You guys had some more success in the ground game
- 1:08:25Speaker 16: last week, but there were still some inconsistencies.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: It seemed like maybe specifically was outside z on stuff.
- 1:08:30Speaker 16: Curious, what do you feel like you guys did better
- 1:08:31Speaker 16: and what can you do to improve this week with
- 1:08:33Speaker 16: some of those issues.
- 1:08:35Speaker 15: We'll just have to you know, handle a front handle movement.
- 1:08:38Speaker 15: You know, it's never going to be great, you know,
- 1:08:41Speaker 15: almost average five yards of carry. We'll try to improve
- 1:08:44Speaker 15: on that and kind of keep the scheme multiple.
- 1:08:47Speaker 8: You have the involved with.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: Andy Cornelis and kind of saying like never lost the
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: faith you Why was that so important to just highlight
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: him after that game.
- 1:08:56Speaker 15: Well, we'll play a lot of rookies and you know
- 1:08:58Speaker 15: that one in particular. You know, when there's a missed
- 1:09:02Speaker 15: combination block. Other than Taylor, I don't think anybody else
- 1:09:05Speaker 15: is going to notice. But when you miss a kick,
- 1:09:08Speaker 15: everybody notices. And if the receiver you know, lines up
- 1:09:13Speaker 15: in the wrong spot, and nobody notices if an offensive
- 1:09:16Speaker 15: lineman fall starts the entire stadium and everybody watching you know,
- 1:09:20Speaker 15: so again, I just think that's a that's a job
- 1:09:24Speaker 15: that I wanted to recognize him going out there, and
- 1:09:26Speaker 15: it's a huge kick. The difference between three and six
- 1:09:28Speaker 15: and situations changed really quick. I'm sure in his mind
- 1:09:32Speaker 15: he's like, oh, we're going for it, I'm off, and
- 1:09:34Speaker 15: then all.
- 1:09:35Speaker 8: Of a sudden, we're kicking. So to me, that that's
- 1:09:38Speaker 8: that's pretty cool.
- 1:09:39Speaker 5: Like doing a story in Zach Korr to the best
- 1:09:42Speaker 5: I can tell, when you hired him in Tennessee, all
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: of his experience was on the offensive side of the ball.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: Why did you put him on defensive? Why did you
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: think he can handle that?
- 1:09:50Speaker 15: Just because I thought his you know, we talked about
- 1:09:52Speaker 15: some of these trends from college, uh coming and you know,
- 1:09:56Speaker 15: nobody watches more defense than offensive coordinators. But you know,
- 1:10:00Speaker 15: he learned, he learned what we were doing, he brought
- 1:10:02Speaker 15: other ideas and then helped us, you know, bridge the
- 1:10:05Speaker 15: gap with some of those trends that were coming from
- 1:10:07Speaker 15: from college and kind of what they were thinking. And
- 1:10:11Speaker 15: was heavily involved and did our red zone stuff in
- 1:10:14Speaker 15: Tennessee and and really grew exponentially as as a defensive
- 1:10:19Speaker 15: football coach.
- 1:10:20Speaker 16: Like you get a lead like you did, you can
- 1:10:23Speaker 16: run whatever offense you want. But it seemed like the
- 1:10:25Speaker 16: marriage can running pass was really strong. There is that
- 1:10:28Speaker 16: something that would just that's best for us against the
- 1:10:30Speaker 16: Dolphins defense or something that identity.
- 1:10:32Speaker 15: You don't have to be the same thing this week,
- 1:10:34Speaker 15: you know what I mean, I'm going to really struggle
- 1:10:36Speaker 15: going forward if on Wednesdays we're reviewing the game. I
- 1:10:39Speaker 15: mean we do that on Monday, and uh, you know,
- 1:10:42Speaker 15: we got a tough challenge. Just you know, Pittsburgh has
- 1:10:44Speaker 15: got veterans, they got athletes.
- 1:10:46Speaker 8: Linebackers are fast. You know TJ.
- 1:10:49Speaker 15: Watt's going to be an issue. Her big have always
- 1:10:51Speaker 15: had a lot of respect for his game. Cam Hayward
- 1:10:55Speaker 15: will push the pocket back in the middle, and then
- 1:10:56Speaker 15: you never know where Jalen Ramsey's going to be a corner,
- 1:10:59Speaker 15: He's gonna be a nickel, is going to be a safety.

- 1:13:46Speaker 4: No, I just because I got out of Felger and

- 1:14:08Speaker 4: That must have been a long time ago, because I
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: haven't had an inspection in a long time.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: Or a physical eight five five past five hundred. It
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: is the hotline. We just heard Mike Rabel. No big
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: news today, A little bit.
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: Okay, Christian's Alice is going to be at the practice field.
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: He said, did we expect to see him out there today?
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Did he?
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: I thought someone says, if he's out there, would you.
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: He said, expect to see we expect him to do
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: some things today practice. I think he said, okay, all right.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: And then the follow up a couple of questions later,
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: was if he's assuming he's out there a practice, does
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: that mean that he would have a chance on Sunday?
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: And he said sure, yeah. So it was a little
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: disc saying there's a chance.
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess so.
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: But last week. There was no chance last week.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: Absolutely, it's progress, progress, So let's cross our fingers because
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: we need a little bit.
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: Of an edgy mic today, a little bit. You know,
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: I thought he was cut off a couple of questions,
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: not confrontational.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: Like per se suffering fools.
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: Yeah, but a little leggie, A little leggie. I mean,
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: you know, I like that. I like, well, he was
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: like Edgie Mike.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: He was like five minutes late. So maybe if there's
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: something going on.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: Yeah, he did mention in terms of just news, just
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: catching up the news. He was asked about Terrell Williams
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: again and just I think he indicated that they would
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: kind of go with what they it's a fluid situation.
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: I think he said, we'll go with what we the
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: same plan that we had last week. So I would
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: expect Zach Koorr to be the defensive play caller again
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: in them to set things up the way they did
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: last week. But Williams is here. I'm not exactly sure
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: in what capacity he'll be helping out, but I.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: Am I'm totally with him on his philosophy for not
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: talking about timelines for injuries.
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: Oh yeah, most coaches would agreed with that.
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: I can't win. But I remember George Seaffert with the
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: when he was with the Panthers, he would trot out
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: the team doctor, and the team doctor would be giving
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: you all that stuff, and I was like, what are
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: they doing over there in Carolina?
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a different argument. This This seems to do that,
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: like Andy Reid does that. Mike Tomlin has done that.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: But everybody heals differently, you know.
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: But they don't necessarily the time, the timetable timeline is
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: not necessarily something they all get into. But they'll like
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: I've seen Mike Mike Tomlin started press conference with you know, uh,
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: you know, you know, Joey Porter has got a hamstring, Uh,
- 1:16:34Speaker 4: Deshaun Elliott's dealing with a sprained MCL and uh, you know,
- 1:16:39Speaker 4: Alex Highsmith's got a high ankle sprain. I've seen him
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: do that, but that falls short of it. But I
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: don't back and yeah, I don't think he necessary. I mean,
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: I don't watch all Pittsburgh press conferences, but I don't
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: think I don't think Mike Tomlin is then saying we
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: expect him to be out for eight weeks, right right,
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: you know, But I'm just kind of pointing out that
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: it doesn't necessar. I really mean, you can't win games.
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: Andy Reid and Mike Tomin have won a lot of
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: games in the NFL, and they've given a lot of
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: injury information over the years.
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: Darius and Louisville says, of course he's mad at me
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: because of course the defense is better. They have better players.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: But Gerrod Mayo could coach the same exact results as
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: we are seeing now. Yes, Rabel is a better coach,
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: but don't blame slash credit the talent of the players
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: entirely on the coach. Did I do that?
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: I don't think you did that. No, I would love to.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: Jump in, and I also said the results so far,
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: I can understand where somebody would say that, But it's
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: my prediction, my belief that given the players on this team,
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: you will see a better defense in time than we
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: had last year. That's all I'm saying. That's all I said.
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: That is all you said, and I would expect things
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: to get better too. I mean, it's been a tough
- 1:17:53Speaker 4: start to the season. I mean they're down in the
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: thirties in a lot of categories. It's been a tough
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: start to the season, and they haven't exactly played, you know,
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: offensive Juggernauts. Both teams that they played, as I mentioned yesterday,
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: were completely shut down in their other game, especially the Raiders.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: As you can see, Deuce has gone to the locker room.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: He'll be better.
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: Try to get a little sit down with some defensive players.
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: And maybe you're heart to heart with Robert Splaine, because
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: I know that Deuce is hurting, and of course I
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: know Digs.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: A lot of you are on the edge of your
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: seat waiting to hear from Diggs on the latest announcement
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: by I guess his girlfriend Cardi b. I'm not sure,
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: so what you just like she said they were broken up.
- 1:18:37Speaker 4: She said that my boyfriend, right, but at one.
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: Time she took off one office into her Instagram.
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: Yeah, but I don't think she said that they were
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: broken up. I think that there was a oh whatever
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: the public Uh yeah, you know so, but you you
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: seem to be calling into question this whole relationship.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: I'm not. I think it's volatile.
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: Well, I absolutely think when you have famous people who
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: are often in volatile relation.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: I think I think it's entertainers, athletes.
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: It's not like Drew and Mora, right, But you know,
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: it's not Drew And yeah, well only one of those
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: people were famous. But I think entertainers and athletes would
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: to me kind of lend itself to.
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: A volage Chris Everett volatile, you know, right, Stefanie Graff.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: And who did you go out with? Did you go
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: with Agasy?
- 1:19:24Speaker 4: Andre you go out with? Or marry?
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: Oh they got married.
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: Oh they're still married.
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: Those kids have made it. Those kids have made it.
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: Andre Agassi originally with Brooks Shields, they were mad.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: That's it. Yeah, Brooks Shields all right. Back to the phones.
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: We get just like how you just I don't know.
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: They saved it, like get they're together. But Fred's not
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: buying it. I'm not buying the.
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: Real What to believe these days? Sean's and Vancouver? What's
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: up Sean? Sean?
- 1:19:52Speaker 19: Hey, Fred, We've got to give you props for guaranteeing
- 1:19:55Speaker 19: the win. That was amazing at work. I hope you
- 1:19:58Speaker 19: could do it some more. We need that.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: If I believe it, I'll say it. If I don't,
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: then I won't.
- 1:20:04Speaker 19: Yeah, well I'm hoping you you believe that. Coming up
- 1:20:08Speaker 19: soon and then we'll get some more wins. I also
- 1:20:12Speaker 19: wanted to ask about the Sacks that. I know the
- 1:20:17Speaker 19: defense hasn't been playing great, had some issues, but it's early. However,
- 1:20:22Speaker 19: the Patriots lead the league with nine sacks. Do you
- 1:20:25Speaker 19: think they'll get four or five against Rogers this week?
- 1:20:28Speaker 19: And I'll leave it at that.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: Yeah, what's okay? Thanks Shall. What's what's the average?
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: Now?
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: I think he had four? He was sacked how many
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: times last week?
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: I don't know, but yeah, I would expect to see
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: the sacked total continue to rise. He's a guy. I
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: think Evan's stat about the pressure rate is eye opening.
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: Like that means he's getting good protection and still getting
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: sacked a lot because every time the other team gets through,
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: they sack them. Yeah, they're like over thirty percent. Sack
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: rate is very high. But you know, yeah, I would
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: expect the Patriots to get at least three.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: Well, tell me how good the Patriots offense is going
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: to be, and then I'll tell you how many times
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: they're going to sack them. Because if we can get
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: out to a lead and we're forcing them to pass,
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: then yeah we're gonna we're gonna be all over them.
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: But if it's a close game and they can be
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: balanced Pittsburgh, then our opportunities aren't going to be.
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: And that's that's a good point. Like the game script
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: often you know, helps in that regard. But I would
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: also say, does Pittsburgh's offense have any success at all
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: like running the ball, and do they stay out of
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: long yarded situations? Because I this is funny. I never
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: got to get into it with Evan, but because I
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: heard his buddy Alex this morning on on Toucher and
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: Hardy saying, you don't really want to blitz Rogers, that's
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: really playing with fire, My thought was, yes, I know
- 1:21:59Speaker 4: that he is obviously seen every every defensive coverage that
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: you're going to come up with, He's seen it. But
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: I don't think he can avoid pressure anymore. So if
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: you blitz him and you get home, you're probably gonna,
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: you know, pull the plug on the play.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: And how good is his receiving core?
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: I mean, I think they have good enough receivers. I
- 1:22:21Speaker 4: mean DK Metcalf's a good receiver and Calvin Austin you know,
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: is okay, you know, the two tight ends I think
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: are really good, and they have backs that can catch
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: the ball. I think he has options and you know,
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: to throw to, but I I would go after him
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: a little bit. I wouldn't necessarily blitz like they did
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: against the Raiders in the first game where they had
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: that high of a blitz rate. But I wouldn't sit
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: back like they did for the most part against Tua either.
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: I would want to get after him, and I just
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: it's interesting to me that the catch twenty two guys
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: ye have coming at this from opposite view points.
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: You know, it's so funny. It's it's you know, talk
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: about you know, having the feel for the league. It's
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: is so often you have to figure out is what
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: you're seeing an anomaly with Pittsburgh or is this who
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: they are and they've got problems, And when it's early
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: in the season, it's really tough to tell. Uh, you know,
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: teams turn it around. Yeah, hasn't been bad, but we
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: might this might be who Pittsburgh is defensively.
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: Defensively that yeah, we could just be sort of seeing
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: the beginning of the end of that defense. You know,
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: a little bit older, and you know, maybe guys aren't
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: quite as good. You know, Patrick Queen's been around a while.
- 1:23:39Speaker 8: T J.
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: Watts, no, no Spring Chicken anymore, cam Heywood. So maybe
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: some of the better players are getting a little older,
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: and this is the start of a decline.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: Absolutely, And you know, and we talk about Rogers, maybe
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: this is it for him too, because remember that last
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: year with Brady, he had a good numbers year, but
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: like he was getting hit a lot.
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: Oh, Rogers, I think is done. Yeah, I mean I
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: he was terrible.
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: So, like you know, we talked about last year when
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: they played US early in the season and Rogers was
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: the old Rogers.
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: That was this one good game of the year is
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: a Week three or two or something week week three,
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: Week three ironically the same week as this.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: And he really didn't do it after that. Maybe that
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: was his last tarade. Maybe.
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: And I know we had some good statistical games, especially
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: down the stretch last year. I just don't think he
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: played very well. I know that the numbers would tell
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: you he was great. I don't think he played great
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: in those games.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: Uh, let's go to Kendall in North Carolina. Hate Kendall.
- 1:24:34Speaker 11: Hey, what's going on?
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Guy?
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: Hey not?
- 1:24:37Speaker 11: I don't really have a christ in just a statement.
- 1:24:39Speaker 12: I'm kind of with fred Man.
- 1:24:40Speaker 11: Can we can we finally get a home win? I know,
- 1:24:45Speaker 11: I know, so that's all I really want. Okay, what
- 1:24:50Speaker 11: we have to do to win at home.
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: Score more points than the opposition. Uh, I'm only kidding, Kendle,
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: but I hear I hear you. It's like, no, they haven't.
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: We had a lot of success. I mean, they won
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: the last home game, but that kind of didn't count,
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: you know, against Buffalo last year.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: But yeah, they absolutely didn't.
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean the whole home rode like they have
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: won a lot of games.
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: Thanks, Kendall. True, true, but he've been even beyond last year,
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: going back a few years.
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: Our home record, but they haven't won anywhere, is what
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: I'm trying to say.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: No, I know we need home game wins. Good, good
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: for everybody. Let's see Jamie and Carlo Ireland. I've been
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: a listener since twenty twelve, mainly through podcasts while on
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: the way to school. One of my favorite memories was
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: Andy arguing with no one that Tom Brady is better
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: than Manning because he has bigger hands, and I was hooked.
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: I just wanted to say thank you for all you do.
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: My girlfriend got admitted to the hospital on the first
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: due to complications with their pregnancy, and I'm happy to
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: say that on the fourth, she gave birth to our
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: first child, a healthy boy, gradual. We were there for
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: two weeks in between the three shows Catch twenty two
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: pre and postgame and PU you guys help me cope
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: with the stress and anxiety.
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: Oh glad we could help. Yeah, we're there for you,
- 1:26:09Speaker 4: and best to you and your new family.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: Yeah, we're there. We're there for you, Joel, and San
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: Antonio writes in I'm listening on a bit of a delay,
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: So if this has been asked before my apologize, I
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: was wondering that if Gonzo misses the next game as well,
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: if it wouldn't have been easier to put him on
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: IR for the first four weeks and be able to
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: elevate or being another defensive back for the time being.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: Just curious now, I think if they knew that, they would.
- 1:26:39Speaker 4: Well, if he let's put it this way, if he
- 1:26:44Speaker 4: didn't play against Pittsburgh and then he comes back and
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: he's sort of fifty to fifty questionable against Carolina, that's
- 1:26:51Speaker 4: certainly a worthy second guess. I think it's worth it
- 1:26:56Speaker 4: because even if you could get him for the Carolina game,
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: he's good enough player that I'll sit him out for
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: three weeks without having a guarantee that he has to
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: sit out for four you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: he's a good enough player to do that.
- 1:27:08Speaker 8: Boy.
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: Michael and Nebraska has two questions, says, if Gonzo comes
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: back soon and has an amazing year, would you ever
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: consider trading him due to his one injury history, only
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: four games his rookie year, sixteen last year, and now
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: his current injury. Two, his trade value may be at
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: an all time high. And three, he may want to
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: get paid a substantial amount this offseason.
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: So this is funny. This is suddenly on my shows
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: yesterday it was Beatle and Zoe I think who brought
- 1:27:40Speaker 4: it up, and then Mike and Tony sort of, you know,
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: piggybacked on it trading Gonzales, you know, and everybody's like, well,
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: I think they asked Mike Grease. I think Beatle and
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: Zoe asked Mike Grease, would you trade Gonzales for a
- 1:27:54Speaker 4: first round pick? Mike said no, I would be interested
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: in something more along the lines of an established player.
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: And what Mike and Tony brought up was aj Brown
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: in Philadelphia, who has been kind of a bit player
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: in the first couple of games for the Eagles. It's
- 1:28:13Speaker 4: only twenty eight it's not that old, so still theoretically
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: has some productive years left in him.
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: We were talking.
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: I don't know why Philadelphia would want to do that,
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: but just play along the hypothetical here. Would you be
- 1:28:28Speaker 4: willing to do that?
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: Yes, see, we talked about I wouldn't at this point. One,
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: I haven't given up on Gonzo as you know, you know,
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: one of those injury play players yet, so I don't
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: think that to me, I haven't put him in that
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: category yet. Two, in my opinion, in the NFL, it's
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: a lot easier to get a really good receiver than
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: a real good cornerback. I think there are a lot
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: more good receivers in the NFL than there are shutdown corners.
- 1:28:59Speaker 4: So I would We talked about this off air a
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: little bit, and I would agree with Freddy's assessment there.
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: I think there are probably more elite receivers in the
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: league than there are elite corners. I don't think it's
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: much easier, but I think you're right. I would be
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: interested in that trade. I'm not sure you could get
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: aj Brown straight up for Christian Gonzales, but if that
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: you know, again we're doing hypotheticals here, I would have
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: to think about that. I think that would be the
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: kind of piece offensively that could put your passing game
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: in a different stratosphere. Yeah, I would. Now, I'm not
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: giving up on Gonzales because I'm convinced that he's an
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: injury prone guy or whatever. I'm just wondering if I
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: might find something more valuable for my team.
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: Right, I don't know if there's anything more valuable other
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: than a quarterback than a true shut down corner.
- 1:29:56Speaker 4: Y see, I disagree. I think there's a lot of
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: teams that win a lot of games without true shut corners.
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: I don't know if you can do it without having,
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: you know, some offensive firepower. I don't know, But I
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: mean it's it's a great it's a great argument. It's
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: a great debate. And before say, I know, I just
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: opened myself up for all kinds of criticism. I'm sure
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: there are teams that have won without you know, it's like,
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: you know, the Cowboys traded Micah Parsons. Right, let's go
- 1:30:20Speaker 4: back to like this elite player getting traded thing. Did
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: you remember what happened in the immediate aftermath of the Micah
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: Parsons trade?
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: You know what?
- 1:30:26Speaker 4: You know what you don't need to win titles. You
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: know what never wins titles elite edge guys Suddenly like,
- 1:30:31Speaker 4: you don't need an elite edge guy because those those
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: guys never win. And I'm like, did I like, I
- 1:30:37Speaker 4: don't care what position they played. Did the Eagles not
- 1:30:39Speaker 4: like dominate the Chiefs in the Super Bowl last year
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: with their pass rush?
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: Like, I don't care if it came from Milton Williams
- 1:30:45Speaker 4: and in whoever, I don't care if Josh Swett isn't
- 1:30:48Speaker 4: your eyes.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: Aaron Donald helped the Rams.
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean those guys were dominant. Chris Jones was
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: dominant for the Chiefs, and they're back to back titles.
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: Like again, I'm getting off track. I don't know if
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: you know who is the dominant shut down corner for
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: the Eagles last year? I don't know, because they didn't
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: really have one. They have really really good defense with
- 1:31:14Speaker 4: a lot of good players, was really good.
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: You have to Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm not
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: saying you have to have a dominant shut that in
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: order to win. But if you have a dominant shutdown corner,
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: it's it makes life a lot easier, it does, you know,
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: because you can put them on their best guy.
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: But you know what, but you know what makes it
- 1:31:33Speaker 4: a lot easier, And you're right everything you just said
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: is I agree with I just think having dominant players
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: regardless of position. But but I don't think having a
- 1:31:43Speaker 4: dominant corner helps you anymore than having a dominant But
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: it's harder.
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: To find those guys. And I don't know, I agree
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: with you if you and far between true shutdown, Yeah,
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: I think corner. But you know I'm talking you know,
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: the real guy, the real shutdown.
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: Because you can you can go type, you can go
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: like Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, you know, and those kinds
- 1:32:05Speaker 4: of receivers, and you can say, like you know, Ceedee Lamb,
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: the truly dominant receivers, and you can say I could
- 1:32:12Speaker 4: probably keep going into ten fifteen range. Whereas with corner,
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: to your point, you know, it's Patrick Sartan and Derek
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: Stingley and Sauce Gardner and Gonzo and you kind of
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: start running out, Yeah, when you look at it that way.
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: So I do think that you make a good point
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: about it being harder to get a corner. I just
- 1:32:34Speaker 4: don't think it's any more valuable to have that than
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: anything else. If you have a dominant player, you have
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: a dominant player. My feeling would be, I think A. J.
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: Brown's a better player than Christian Gonzales.
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: I remember twenty fourteen and he was far from his prime.
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: We brought in Revas and yeah he was. I have
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: a different it was a big that was a big deal.
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I have a different hole. Like I think, how
- 1:32:57Speaker 4: would that have been without the offense that they had.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: I'm just saying it put them up?
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: Did Darrell Rivas? See That's like, I don't think that
- 1:33:08Speaker 4: put him over the top. I think Tom Brady did.
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: I think Tom Brady's kicking the ass from Jimmy Garoppolo
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: put them over the top. And I think that the
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: you know, I don't think Darrel Rievas and Brandon Browner,
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: you know, led a ten point you know, fourteen point
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: comeback in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: If you remember back then in that era, you know,
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: two thousand and nine, ten.
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: Defense was better in fourteen. You're right, You're right. I mean,
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: like again, on paper, facts are facts. It's like Felger facts,
- 1:33:37Speaker 4: you know, like they had defenses that were good, that
- 1:33:40Speaker 4: they had an offense that was good enough to get
- 1:33:41Speaker 4: to the Super Bowl, but the defense wasn't good enough
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: for them to win it, right, And then in fourteen
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: they brought in Browner, and they brought in Revis and
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: the defense improved and they were good enough to win it.
- 1:33:51Speaker 4: I can't argue with that, that's fact, but I think
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: Brady was just that much better and that's why they
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: won the Super Bowl.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: The other question Mike and the brown is why do
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: you think Kyle Williams only played seven snaps against the
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: Raiders and ten against the Dolphins. Is he just not
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: good enough yet or are they waiting for something? Is
- 1:34:09Speaker 2: starting to feel like another Poke Baker situation, and I
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: hope it doesn't turn out that way. I just think
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: it's a numbers game at this point. Yeah, Like he
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: hasn't been that good where he's pushing people out of
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: the way.
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: I think it's the opposite of Polk. Polk played virtually
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: every play at this time last year and just wasn't
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: productive with it, whereas Williams, I think is biding his
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: time and waiting for his opportunities. And I think Mike
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: is right about some of the things that they sort
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: of tried with him a little bit in this game.
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: Right now, he's the fifth receiver. So the fifth receiver
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: is not going to get a ton of you know,
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: a ton of snaps. But I would also say a
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: lot of teams that the fifth receiver who doesn't play
- 1:34:50Speaker 4: special teams wouldn't even be dressed. So they must really
- 1:34:53Speaker 4: like Kyle Williams and they must see some potential in
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: him that they want to have him part of the
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: game day roster, even as a small role, and they
- 1:35:02Speaker 4: feel like he's developing. I still have some I have
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: some faith there. I think there's there's something there with
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: Kyle Williams.
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: Paul and the colony. UH. With Burrow going down, seems
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: like the Bengals will try to unload some of their
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: big salaries this year, and Sin and Hagens seem like
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: obvious choices. But are there others on the team that.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: We could be see that happening?
- 1:35:22Speaker 4: I think Coach, I think that they'll look at this
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: and say we can tread water and we can with
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: it two and zero, which they have not been ever
- 1:35:30Speaker 4: in this Zach Taylor regime. Right, I think that they'll
- 1:35:34Speaker 4: look to win games with Jake Browning like they did
- 1:35:36Speaker 4: two years ago in Burrow's absence and see if they can,
- 1:35:40Speaker 4: you know, find a way to you know, win enough
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: games to make it worthwhile for Borrow to come back
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: at the end of the year. I don't know if
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: that is that realistic. I don't know, but I think
- 1:35:50Speaker 4: it's it's definitely realistic that they can win games without Burrow.
- 1:35:53Speaker 4: They've done it before. Two years ago they I think
- 1:35:56Speaker 4: they won, went four and three without Burrow.
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: I I feel better.
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: So if you go four and three in the next
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: seven right now, you know, you're six and three.
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: I feel bad for Burrow, but it couldn't happen to
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: a better team.
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: No, But do you know understand what my point is,
- 1:36:11Speaker 4: you're snark aside, which don't get me wrong, I'm here
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: for the snark. If you were, I believe they went
- 1:36:19Speaker 4: four and three two years ago with Browning as the quarterback.
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: Let's say they go four and three in the next
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: seven games. So now you're you know, like I said,
- 1:36:27Speaker 4: you're six and three around the trade deadline. Are you
- 1:36:31Speaker 4: selling off pieces?
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:36:33Speaker 4: Right, or you're saying no, we can go four and
- 1:36:35Speaker 4: three in the next seven games and then maybe Borrow's
- 1:36:38Speaker 4: back exactly.
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: Yeah, So yeah, you only do that if you don't
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: think you can.
- 1:36:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean if they if they go out and
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: you know, instead of going four and three, they go
- 1:36:46Speaker 4: two and five, then maybe you're selling off a piece.
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: But I think they went in for this year and
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: I think they got to see it through.
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: Cole writes in do we take into consideration at all
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: the history of success the Patriot have had against the
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: Steelers heading into this game, especially considering McDaniels is going
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: to know exactly how to attack this defense, assuming it's
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: the same old Pittsburgh defense. If so, should we expect
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: a monster game from the tight ends our tight ends?
- 1:37:18Speaker 4: Yeah? No, I know, any man, he's thinking of Gronk.
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: I what, like I would just I would ask, what
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: would constant trute? A monster game from Hunter Henry?
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: Two touchdowns, eighty yards, two tuddies.
- 1:37:38Speaker 4: I mean sure maybe. I mean I'm just thinking we're
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: thinking of Rob Gronkowski, you know, ten for one hundred
- 1:37:44Speaker 4: and thirty and two touchdowns, Like I don't think that's
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: going to happen. Yeah, do you know what I mean? Right?
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: And you know, I know last week so you know
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: I'm going to be called a hypocrite here. We talked
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: all about the Miami history and going down there and
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: how hard it is to win no matter who the
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: team is, and oh and seven against Tua. So we
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: took history into consideration there, But I'm less apt to
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: do that this week with Pittsburgh.
- 1:38:12Speaker 4: So I would be less app too, because it's Aaron Rodgers, right,
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: It's not Ben Roethlisberger, Ben Roethlisberger, right. You know, it's
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: not the same Steelers team. And you know with the
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: with the Dolphins, it was Tua and Waddle and Hill
- 1:38:27Speaker 4: and ate to the same guys for the most part
- 1:38:30Speaker 4: that you were going against. So I think there was
- 1:38:32Speaker 4: a little bit more reason to look at the history
- 1:38:33Speaker 4: with Miami than you would this year. But I have
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: I do have faith in the Patriots' recent success with Pittsburgh.
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: I think that's relevant and specifically what the emailer talked about,
- 1:38:45Speaker 4: Josh McDaniels has had a lot of success going against
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: the Steelers defense.
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: Martin out of Kansas. Personally, I view the Steelers as
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: the cowboys of the AFC North. The mainstream sports media,
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: not you guys, hypes them up every year. Yet they're
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: just a speed bump for any team facing them in
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: the first round of the playoffs. As Paul said earlier,
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: on paper, they should play better than they have. I
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: see Drake May having yet another best career game with
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: our King Godora type running back room dominating the Steelers defense.
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: I don't know what King Godora me is. Ghid o
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: r ah, it's a Godzilla thing? Okay?
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: Oh oh, all right? Three headed is that Godora? I
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: thought that was Rodan oh Gira? Okay, well, now it
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: makes sense because they have the three headed monster. Okay, good?
- 1:39:42Speaker 4: Good reference, Okay, good.
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: The Patriots defense having Rogers run for his lifeball game
- 1:39:48Speaker 2: throwing two plus interceptions Patriots forty eight, Steelers twenty three.
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: Well, if Rogers is throwing interceptions, then I could see
- 1:39:58Speaker 4: that happening. I don't see it throwing the interceptions. He
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: doesn't really do that. Yeah, I mean, you know he
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: has the best interception rate in the history of the NFL.
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: Is that right? Yeah? Wow? Yeah.
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: He didn't even throw a lot of interceptions last year
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: when he's stunk, right, so I.
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: Wouldn't because he throws it out of bounds.
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: Well whatever, he doesn't throw a lot of interceptions, gives up,
- 1:40:20Speaker 4: doesn't try. Maybe I don't think he tried very hard.
- 1:40:23Speaker 4: Last year. I kind of agree, Dan, you're trying to
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: get me involved in an argument. You're not going to
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: I think nothing like. I couldn't think less of his professionalism.
- 1:40:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't throw interceptions either. Fighting Try Dan in
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: Virginia and Michigan. I don't like Rogers or the Steelers
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: at all. It would be the most Jets thing. However, However,
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: if Rogers did well this year and the two years
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: of his lowest production were the two years he was
- 1:40:49Speaker 2: with the Jets. There was some discussion yesterday about naming
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: the win against Miami. How about marvelous mess in Miami?
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: If you want to really amp up the ridiculous in alliteration,
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: it could be the marvelous mess in Miami that made
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: me a man. No, I think it's the Rabel kickoff game.
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: I like the Rabel kick return. Yeah, so Rabel return game.
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think that's it.
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: I was I was laughing there.
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: I could say it's the main coming out game, but
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: it wasn't a last second win.
- 1:41:24Speaker 4: So I'm gonna I'm gonna button hook you. You know
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: why I don't want to go with that because I
- 1:41:28Speaker 4: think we're going to be looking at games like this
- 1:41:32Speaker 4: is like pedestrian.
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: Like and it wasn't like him winning it in the
- 1:41:36Speaker 2: last second.
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: No, yeah, then I would say it was a coming
- 1:41:39Speaker 4: out part, right, But I think you're going to be
- 1:41:41Speaker 4: looking at games like he had on Sunday as pedestrian
- 1:41:44Speaker 4: like he wasn't asked to do a whole lot, right,
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: and he and he handled it fine. But man, when
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: he's really locked in and he's.
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, yeah, yeah, the coming out game will be.
- 1:41:55Speaker 4: Four touchdowns running around. Yeah, that's that's the coming out party.
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: Mike and the OC. Not sure if you've addressed Tom
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: Brady wearing the coaching had set and assisting Chip Kelly
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: and the Hiders offense. Wanted to get your thoughts on
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: him if being a broadcaster truly gives him and the
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: Raiders an advantage. In any case, I'm still upset he's
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: in his position with the Raiders. The Patriots Organization has
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: done an amazing job rehabbing the relationship with Brady after
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: the split and honoring his legacy the best way possible.
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: Just wish we had him in our coaching personal office,
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: similar to Lway with the Broncos. So yeah, I mean,
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: you know, we were talking about it before the big deal.
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: Isn't that he's an owner of a team anywhere on
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: the field, the owners can do whatever they want. It's
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: that he's a broadcaster for Fox doing other teams games. Right.
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: That's where you know the conflict comes in.
- 1:42:52Speaker 4: So, yeah, it's ridiculous. I think it's an enormous conflict
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: of interest and it's an advantage for them. So he's
- 1:43:04Speaker 4: not allowed to go to practice, right, He's not allowed
- 1:43:08Speaker 4: in the other team's facility. Right, that's the way they
- 1:43:11Speaker 4: have it. His broadcast partner is going to practice on Friday.
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: You don't think he's telling them everything he saw a
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: practice on Friday, Right, And you don't think this is
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: a league where teams go through unbelievable lengths to find
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: any in all information that might help them win a game. Right.
- 1:43:30Speaker 4: You don't think that that potentially helps the Raiders win
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: a game?
- 1:43:33Speaker 8: Right?
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: Him knowing what?
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: I think?
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: Someone said that they have like Chicago this week and
- 1:43:39Speaker 4: then next week they play whoever they play. It doesn't matter.
- 1:43:43Speaker 4: They have a team this week and for Fox that
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: the Raiders are playing the following week. You don't think
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: that that could help him, right?
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: You know? And I'm listening on one of my other shows.
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: That means EEI not the Sports Hub this morning, and
- 1:43:57Speaker 4: then really downplaying it. Wiggy was the only one and
- 1:44:00Speaker 4: thought it was relevant and they're really downplaying it. And
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: I'm like, well, what's just to stop them from calling up?
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: Like he's got a million friends, you know, Wes Welker's
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: on the coaching staff in Washington. What's to stop them
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: from talking to Wes Welker about the Commanders? And I'm
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: thinking to myself, what's to stop them? Wes Welker knows
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: that he's the owner of the Raiders. That's what would
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: stop him. He's not going to be forthcoming with him
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: on oh geez, you know what. You should see our
- 1:44:27Speaker 4: third downpackage this week, Tom and we're going to use
- 1:44:29Speaker 4: it against the Raiders too. Like that's not going to happen, right,
- 1:44:33Speaker 4: he is, Like, I think it's an enormous edge for
- 1:44:36Speaker 4: no reason. I think, much like everybody else in this
- 1:44:38Speaker 4: I think he needs to pick a lane, and I
- 1:44:40Speaker 4: think he should be forced to pick a lane. You're
- 1:44:42Speaker 4: either an announcer or you're a part owner. I have
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: no problem with him being in the coaches booth with
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: headsets owners do that all the time. I mean, ours doesn't,
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: but a lot of owners around the league are they
- 1:44:56Speaker 4: just look, what's the woman's name, and she's been doing.
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: It for years Yep, Carly or something.
- 1:45:04Speaker 4: Yeah, she I mean, she just has the headsets on.
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: I don't think she has input. She just wants to listen.
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: She's on the sideline, and she's on the sideline listening
- 1:45:10Speaker 4: to what the coaches are saying, like that's their Do
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: you own the team, that's your prerogative. You should be
- 1:45:15Speaker 4: able to do any and all of that kind of
- 1:45:17Speaker 4: stuff if you do that if you were the owner,
- 1:45:19Speaker 4: I wouldn't mind listening. If I was the owner, Yeah,
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: but but I would make it clear this is I'm
- 1:45:23Speaker 4: not listening. So I'm I'm like trying to keep tabs
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: on you. I'm I'm genuinely interested in.
- 1:45:29Speaker 2: From the owner's booth, though, I'd have like.
- 1:45:31Speaker 4: However, yeah, however it could be done, and I would
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: also try to do it as inconspicuously as I could,
- 1:45:37Speaker 4: maybe with like earbuds or something like that. But yeah, okay, yeah,
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: So I couldn't believe the NFL wasted time putting out
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: a statement explaining how it's it's within the rules for
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: an owner to be listening to of course it is.
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: It's the owner that's not the issue here. The owner.
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: The the issue here is the owner is also a broadcaster, Right,
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: have another pet peeve?
- 1:46:01Speaker 2: You probably won't way Brady related or no.
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: No, just in general, like, just because the networks spend
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: billions of dollars, we have to have these for COCTA broadcast.
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: Meetings, I mean production meetings.
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: Yeah, Like why you don't like it?
- 1:46:21Speaker 2: No, you don't think they should get some backgrounds so
- 1:46:24Speaker 2: they come into the game a little bit more informed
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: for the fans.
- 1:46:27Speaker 4: No, No, no, I don't. I don't think they should.
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: I don't think they should be privy to anything behind
- 1:46:33Speaker 4: the scenes. And I know why. Obviously it's money. All
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: the money they pay that much money, they got to
- 1:46:38Speaker 4: get something and return. I understand that. You know, the
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: media is here every day like they're covering your team,
- 1:46:46Speaker 4: they're promoting your product just as much as the networks are. Yep,
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: they don't get that access, right And I'm not talking
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: about us individual I'm just talking you know, like the
- 1:46:54Speaker 4: Boston Globe.
- 1:46:55Speaker 2: I'm sure if klinis paid a billion dollars, they get
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: that right.
- 1:46:57Speaker 4: But what I'm saying you shouln't be about you shouldn't
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: just pay for your access. That's I don't think it's right.
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: Welcome to America, I know, I know, Like I'm not naive.
- 1:47:05Speaker 4: I just don't like it. Do you know what I'm saying?
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: Like I understand why it happens.
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's an age old tradition. I mean, even
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: before billion dollar deals they would have been having production meetings.
- 1:47:15Speaker 4: But I can understand, like in the in the day,
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: they needed the broadcast partners to promote their product, right,
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: you know, it's different now.
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: I remember speaking of Bill Parcells back when he was
- 1:47:27Speaker 2: the coach and Don Lowry was our PR guy before
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: Stacey James. Even, I said to Don, I said, hey,
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: don can you ask Parcels if I can sit on
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: the you know, the production meeting with NBC. Like he's
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: not gonna, I just ask him. So he comes back
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: the next day. So what did he say? He said,
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: He said, tell Fred he's not NBC.
- 1:47:49Speaker 4: So, which is That's a great story, but it kindlantic no, no,
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: but it lends lends it to what I'm talking about. Obviously,
- 1:47:56Speaker 4: the coaches weren't real happy with it. They didn't want
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: other people in their preva. If we have to do
- 1:48:00Speaker 4: it for NBC, I guess we have to do it like.
- 1:48:03Speaker 4: They don't want to do that. They don't want to
- 1:48:05Speaker 4: give that information away. So when people say, well, why
- 1:48:07Speaker 4: is it such a big deal that Tom Brady, that's
- 1:48:10Speaker 4: the coaches. Don't The coaches think it's a big deal.
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: But at least Parcels did.
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: Yep, and a lot of times, you know, you would.
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: I would imagine some coaches use those production meetings to
- 1:48:21Speaker 2: help them get something out there. Like they tell something
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: that they're hoping the broadcasters will repeat it.
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: Like and on that thing that I heard this morning,
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: I think they had a clip from Jimmy Johnson talking
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: about like those meetings are useless. There's never been anything
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: that comes out of it. I used to not say
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: anything about it, and I was like, well, that's great.
- 1:48:39Speaker 4: That's what you did. You you were able to do
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: it that way. I think that it's also kind of
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: interesting that he's downplaying it as a Fox guy. I
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: know he'd retired, but he's a Fox guy. This is
- 1:48:51Speaker 4: the his network's broadcast team. That is, you know in question.
- 1:48:56Speaker 4: I just think it's disingenuous on Jimmy Johnson's part regard
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: he's telling you how we didn't tell him anything. Yeah,
- 1:49:03Speaker 4: oh okay, so you're telling me that there's nothing to
- 1:49:06Speaker 4: be gleaned from going to the Friday practice, and but
- 1:49:09Speaker 4: you didn't tell him anything, right, right? So what are
- 1:49:12Speaker 4: you like? So you were hiding it is what you
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: were doing. I just think, speaking of.
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: Telling teams things, the Steelers signed Pepper's earlier and just
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: yesterday announced that they had signed j Want Bentley. Is
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: there any information that those two guys can give the
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: team that would help them against the Patriots? We'll talk
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: about my question.
- 1:49:43Speaker 19: That none of them look like in the locker room.
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: What was it like, Mike?
- 1:49:55Speaker 4: What was it like?
- 1:49:58Speaker 8: Sorry?
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: A little crazy really back sooner.
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: But we had, of course Stefan Diggs spoke, and then
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: we had Christian Zalez and we had AFC Special Teams
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: Player of the Week Antonio Gibson as well. So all
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: three of those guys was waiting for Antonio to get
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: out of the shower so we could interview him. So
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: that's why I'm a little later. Didn't get a chance
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: to talk to explaining or anybody on the defense that
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: was one of the things I.
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: Wanted to do.
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: No, you wanted to have a heart to heart with
- 1:50:20Speaker 4: your defensive mates.
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: No, no, none of that today.
- 1:50:23Speaker 3: But we did talk to Diggs, and you know, he seems,
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: uh saying all the right things, you know, and just
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: everybody theme of having a win and getting some confidence
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: and trying to build off for that and trying to
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: you know, keep the train rolling was kind of the
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: general sentiment.
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: Christian Zalez, playing a little close to the.
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: Vest, asked about, you know, did you have a setback,
- 1:50:40Speaker 3: And I don't want to talk about it. I'm gonna
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: be out there today. I'm gonna focus on today, and
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: you know, we'll see where I'm at the end of
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: that day. So yeah, he didn't set any expectations or
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: anything like that.
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: So that's all good.
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: And so yeah, what's the news.
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: The news is that he's gonna practice no digs? Oh
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: uh no news.
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: What did they didn't talk about?
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: H asked him about that about his uh andy, I
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: don't talk about private life, so he kind of he
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: kind of shut it down. He didn't really he didn't
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: really talk.
- 1:51:07Speaker 4: About it's not buying it.
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know, I just think it's you know,
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: he seemed generally a volatile situation.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: Oh, he seemed genuinely confused.
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: When someone was like, so I figure with the quite
- 1:51:19Speaker 3: how exactly how they phrased, He's like, what what are
- 1:51:21Speaker 3: you talking about? Like and like, oh, you know, the announcement,
- 1:51:24Speaker 3: and he's like, I don't know. Let's see, I don't
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: really have my personal life. So yeah, playing close to
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: the Bob question.
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: When you're with a woman and you both love each other.
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: Yeah, the birds and the bees.
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: Uh so yeah, that was so that was kind of
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: the vibe though in locker room Eber getting ready to
- 1:51:43Speaker 3: go out shells no no pads today, Yeah, and uh yeah,
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: we'll see from Evan once and I did find out
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: where Evan was. He was conducting an interview with Bill
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: O'Brien regarding a piece he was writing on Julian Edelman,
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: who's being.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: Inducted into the Hall of Fame this weekend.
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: So that's why he he had to cut out on
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: our first hour after billyo for a little bit.
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: So there you go. Was this an approved piece that
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: he's writing, believe it is something that he's doing it
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: for his own block.
- 1:52:09Speaker 4: His home block.
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: Evan A lot of media.
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: Sounded like it was auded, very crowded, and uh, I
- 1:52:17Speaker 3: don't know if you want my shoulders. Very tired, sure
- 1:52:21Speaker 3: holding the mics so you know ninety eight five and
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: I helped them out today Mark Capella, you know the
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: mic so but you know, it's like trying to hold
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: a two pound weight for five minutes like this.
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: It's kind of hard.
- 1:52:32Speaker 2: Hard. I don't like them, you know, enlisting you.
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: Well, it was you know, you scratch my back, guy,
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: scratch yours kind of thing. Sometimes you get you get
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: closed out. It's tight space.
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: You can't get in there.
- 1:52:43Speaker 12: You know.
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: Maria Capello comes over and he's like, I can't get
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: in there. I cut in on it, like think Mike
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: shows someday.
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: So I know, all good. We all work together as
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: a team trying to get those interviews. So some good
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: stuff today.
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: Okay, all right, so Gonzo he talked, that's a good sign. Yep, yep, yep.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: Right at that, I was that was actually reminiscing you
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: came up.
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: Paul was talking to Mike g r D and we
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: were talking about Stephan Gilmore and and you know how
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: he would and I said, yeah, Paul always say like
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: you know, people would be like, oh, he doesn't act
- 1:53:11Speaker 3: like a number one corner, and Pul's like, that's just
- 1:53:12Speaker 3: because you can't hear him quiet.
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: He did in the best cover corner. He would say
- 1:53:18Speaker 4: stuff right Juju Smith, Schuster, He locker he can't get open?
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: Was that was Tylaw in that locker too, or anybody
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: else in that that right by the.
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: Door right there?
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: I remember, I remember stuff being there.
- 1:53:29Speaker 4: Law was over there. I don't know if he was
- 1:53:31Speaker 4: the end. Yeah, he might have been in the middle
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: of that bank, but he was on that. I mean,
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: that's obviously with.
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: It rivass the corner you.
- 1:53:40Speaker 4: May have been in that. It made it kind of
- 1:53:42Speaker 4: goes by number. So like all three of those guys
- 1:53:45Speaker 4: were number well not Gonzales, but Revis, Gilmore and Law.
- 1:53:49Speaker 4: We're all twenty four, right, so they were in that
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: general vicinity.
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's all. The mood was could good stuff, you know.
- 1:53:58Speaker 3: Steph said, He's like, you guys, maybe you couldn't last week,
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: but you could feel like, you know, the mood last
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: week was definitely, you know, a little bit more down,
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: and you know this week you have a little confidence
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: built up. So yeah, he said, everybody's feeling good after
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: that win, and I think feeling like, hey, let's go
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: get a win at home.
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: So also too they.
- 1:54:14Speaker 3: You know how they have the nameplates up the top,
- 1:54:16Speaker 3: they're all digital. Now they were red for the throwback
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: game this week, so.
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: I've never seen it. There was just a so just
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: a red haze all up, very bright, very bright, like.
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: Christopher Walking when you said that red red Hay, that.
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: Was a red haze about me. I could I was.
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: I found a little bit much, but it was funny.
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: One of the members and now you know what I'm
- 1:54:36Speaker 3: thinking about, right, he took this watch in his But
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: one of the members of media like, you know, it's
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: clearly if there's red everywhere, all the pat Patriots helmets
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: are out. And I heard one of the media guys,
- 1:54:47Speaker 3: just one of the camera brandom guys, like, oh, they
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: were in those white.
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: Helmets this week. Bro, it's a throwback week. Come on,
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: get on our level.
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: Okay, So they will be in throwbacks, they will be
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: in throwbacks.
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: Okay, Ready, how were they against the Steelers in the
- 1:54:59Speaker 3: thing throwbably?
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: Not too good in the seventies.
- 1:55:01Speaker 4: I'm at I don't win in seventy six yeah, in
- 1:55:06Speaker 4: throw right, not throw the were actually that was the
- 1:55:10Speaker 4: throat then.
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Patriots. There was somebody who wrote in and said
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: he's coming first time for a game.
- 1:55:18Speaker 4: Well, Anthony and Seattle's coming.
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Anyway, he just wanted some info about Saturday's uh Saturday. Yeah,
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: So the info on Saturday for the induction is it
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: starts at four o'clock in the Patriots Place Patriot Place
- 1:55:37Speaker 2: Plaza below the stairs. I don't know the exact setup,
- 1:55:42Speaker 2: but it's free of charge, So just show up, I would.
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: I mean, if you want to get close, I don't
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: think it matters. You know, you can. They're gonna have
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: screens probably set up so you'll be able to see
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: wherever you're sitting. You can sit on the stairs, you
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: can you can be anywhere. But if you you know,
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: obviously they're earlier to get there, the closer he'll be.
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: And I would say two o'clock is when you probably
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: want to get there if you really want to get close.
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: But otherwise, you know, just show up and like I said,
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: you don't have to pay. Parking is free, and it'll
- 1:56:16Speaker 2: be a great event and it's going to be Bill
- 1:56:17Speaker 2: Parcels and Julian Edelman starting at for you know, I'm
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: sure there'll be other speakers and video and and all that,
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: so that that should be really good. So if you're
- 1:56:27Speaker 2: in the area, check it out.
- 1:56:29Speaker 4: Check it out.
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: Yeah, any any people coming into town for these two guys.
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: I don't know the guest list now, Yeah.
- 1:56:37Speaker 3: I would assume Edelman is going to have a pretty
- 1:56:39Speaker 3: good guest list. A lot of guys come off for him. YEA,
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: be probably a pretty good party Saturday night, I imagine too.
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: I wonder who I think Scott Pioli will be here,
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: Bill's son in law.
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: Right, Well, that's that's.
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: A great point for good chance, good chance, Dallas.
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: I think some of the old writers will be coming back, Paul.
- 1:56:57Speaker 4: That's what Matt and I would talk Matt, Matti Nosa
- 1:57:00Speaker 4: and I were talking about that today. You know, Kevin Mannix,
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: Ron Hobson, you know, maybe Ron Borges, some of those guys.
- 1:57:06Speaker 4: But I don't know, like does it lend itself to
- 1:57:08Speaker 4: being able to like really talk to parcels.
- 1:57:10Speaker 2: I don't know. They loved him, yeah.
- 1:57:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean he had a great relationship with Hobby.
- 1:57:16Speaker 4: He was always very very fun back and forth with
- 1:57:20Speaker 4: Ron Hobson, who The.
- 1:57:22Speaker 3: Award is named after correct good guy the media Good
- 1:57:25Speaker 3: Guy Award.
- 1:57:26Speaker 4: You will not.
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: But he would have back and forth as a good guy,
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: fun fun, fun back and forth.
- 1:57:30Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, all right, Yeah, I think this is before me.
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: Unlike Belichick, who I really honestly think had disdained for
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: the media, like felt they.
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: Would below hands people generally, probably, I.
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: Think Parcels respected the media, especially the older guys, like
- 1:57:46Speaker 2: they're kind of his kind of guy, you know, and
- 1:57:50Speaker 2: he understood the job that they had to do. And
- 1:57:52Speaker 2: I think the more crusty you were, I think the
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: more he related. Yeah, because he was a crusty guy. Yeah,
- 1:58:01Speaker 2: but I don't being maybe I'm just you know, because
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: he's from that New Jersey, New York area, you know,
- 1:58:09Speaker 2: he's one.
- 1:58:10Speaker 4: Of the areas that Fred's from.
- 1:58:11Speaker 2: So yeah, you know, he just he just got along
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: with those types of guys better.
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:58:16Speaker 3: Sure, like the I don't know, I'm just picturing the
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: old newspaper guy smoking cigarettes typing here.
- 1:58:22Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a lot of that.
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: That's what That's what Parcels was. He was the guys
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: smoking butts.
- 1:58:26Speaker 3: And yeah, I'm excited to, like I said, I just
- 1:58:30Speaker 3: get him back in the fold just you know, see
- 1:58:31Speaker 3: what he what he has to say, and you know
- 1:58:34Speaker 3: how it kind of becomes full circle for that whole period,
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: which you know, for me was like really I was
- 1:58:39Speaker 3: a Patriots fan, but like once Parcels came in blood,
- 1:58:41Speaker 3: so that was like game on and that was that
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: was pretty I.
- 1:58:44Speaker 4: Was always a Patriots fan. I'm not going to pretend
- 1:58:46Speaker 4: to have gotten on board, you know when they came.
- 1:58:49Speaker 4: But when they came, that's when, yeah, you finally will
- 1:58:53Speaker 4: like everybody else, now we're a legitimate franchise. And then
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: Robert buys the team the next year, here we go,
- 1:58:59Speaker 4: here we go, right, Yeah.
- 1:59:00Speaker 2: I remember, you know, Parcel's what I was say, I
- 1:59:02Speaker 2: don't pay attention to one day, you know, and one
- 1:59:05Speaker 2: day I'm in front of the stadium and he pulls
- 1:59:07Speaker 2: up in his Cadillac and gets out of his car
- 1:59:10Speaker 2: with a pile of Global barrels that he's throwing away
- 1:59:14Speaker 2: that have been piling up in his car because you know,
- 1:59:16Speaker 2: he read it right right, and he saw me looking
- 1:59:19Speaker 2: at him, and he kind of smiles like you caught me.
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: So no PFW's in there.
- 1:59:25Speaker 2: Maybe all right, that's going to be it for this
- 1:59:28Speaker 2: edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be back tomorrow at noon,
- 1:59:34Speaker 2: so we'll wrap it up. We'll do our picks. Any preview, Paul,
- 1:59:37Speaker 2: how did the gang do so?
- 1:59:39Speaker 4: I mean this is a new Sheriff. I mean it's
- 1:59:41Speaker 4: just Alex's world and we're all living.
- 1:59:43Speaker 2: In Oh is that right? Wow?
- 1:59:45Speaker 4: Yeah, and I remain in the basement with the poop
- 1:59:49Speaker 4: Emoji's okay, I'm having a tough start to the season.
