It's still up. Welcome everybody. Welcome to This week's edition is snow Real
0:20
Go Show episode number six hundred ninety four for June one, twenty twenty three.
0:26
Welcome to your Tie United Champions, an XT Battle, Brownie a w
0:31
Double or Nothing recap and review, EDI Show of ass of to you.
0:37
I am one half the show. I am Jeff Pack joined every single week
0:41
to my cost one only. Doctor Try Franklin, Doctor try, I see
0:44
you're wearing. I survived fifteen hours of wrestling programming my friend. Yeah,
0:48
it's it's a quote aligned from the Hangover, But did you die? Like
0:53
that's kind of how I felt coming into actually Thursday, because literally wrestling Saturday,
1:00
wrestling Sunday, wrestling on Monday, wrestling on Tuesday, wrestling on Wednesday,
1:04
And uh yeah I survived this um and I didn't die. So that's
1:10
always about his points. I guess that. I mean, it'd be hard
1:11
to do the pote the podcast with the ghost of Trey Franklin. No,
1:15
that would be that would be very difficult. I watched Night of Champions,
1:19
I watched Anexty, Battleground, AW Double or Nothing, Raw, n xt
1:23
AW, Dynamite, and then just to spice things up here a little bit,
1:27
Doctor Trey. I watched Most Wanted Treasures, w Most Wanted Treasures on
1:33
an E, Sonhold Takes on America on A and E, and I watched
1:37
the season debut of Vice's Dark Side of the Ring with Tammy Sitch and Chris
1:45
Candido. So I was like fully in through all the Profreshion wrestling programming over
1:49
the last week. Highly recommend the Dark Side of the Ring stuff for those
1:53
who have never watched it. But yeah, I guess we won't recap the
1:57
final three, but we definitely have a lot of stuff to recap in the
2:01
first three. Doctor Trey. Lots of wrestling this past weekend, and of
2:04
course it was a Memorial Day. Also, did you watch You didn't watch
2:07
the show that came on after Dynamite, The Hulk Hogan. I didn't.
2:12
I did not, So actually it's funny you say that. So I watched
2:15
Dynamite on DVR a little bit of a delay and it cut into that show
2:21
and I was like, crap, I did not DVR it. I made
2:25
it all the way through. Now, mind you, I haven't been sleeping
2:29
much. Okay, he is pregnant for those one ring oh god, I
2:34
can only dream. I mean, I'd make a lot of money off that.
2:38
So I made it. It was almost like do you remember the old
2:39
VH one behind the Music Store like show? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
2:44
I'm old. Remember we just had this discussion off air. We're both old.
2:46
I do remember those. So it was kind of done like that,
2:52
like they don't interview Hogan, they're interviewing Flair. They're interviewing like the writer
2:55
of the unauthorized biography. They're they're interviewing and the Rate characters to Hogan's life.
3:00
So I made it all the way up through where the sex tape came
3:05
out, and then I was like, okay, I'm doing I can only
3:08
take so much Bubba the Love Sponge on my TV at one point and I
3:12
was like, yeah, I'm done. We're good for now. So would
3:15
you recommend me watching it if you like the sensationalism because they referenced the sex
3:23
tape, they referenced the you know in words stuff like they referenced the Rate
3:28
well, the racist rant however you want to phrase it. They reference all
3:30
that stuff, and then I don't know how it ended, Like the first
3:34
half was really good. This shows some old footage of Hogan from the seventies
3:38
and early eighties, and they chronicle the run of there. But once they
3:43
got into the sensationalism of the Hogan sex tape and the racist rant, I
3:47
was like, yeah, it's it's I'm wrestling doubt so I am going too
3:52
bad and dream about wrestling. So it sounds like, no, I should
3:55
not watch it. It's not. I mean, if you're comparing it to
4:00
like, I mean, we love the Vice stuff the Dark Side, it's
4:02
amazing. I don't think there's been a bad episode of Dark Side of the
4:06
Ring yet that I've seen. So if you're comparing it, it's like watching
4:11
if it's watching a documentary that you're really into, versus the v H one
4:15
behind the music stuff. Okay, all right, good stuff, good stuff,
4:18
all right, I'll have to see and potentially check that out. Highly
4:23
recommend The Dark Side of the Ring. By the way, Chris Candino story
4:28
incredibly sad, and I forgot how incredibly it's sad sad it was until I
4:32
rewatched it recently and the first episode of this past Tuesday over on a Vice,
4:40
which I guess could be going bankrupt soon or is bankrupt at this point.
4:44
Lots to cover here on this week's This Show. Let's start chronologically.
4:46
We'll go to Saturday, Doctor Trey nine of Champions recab and review this past
4:50
Saturday from Jetta Superdome in Jetta, Saudi Arabia, and I'll just start it
4:55
out. Well, maybe I'll save it towards the end. Let's get to
4:57
the first match. Seth Freaking Roll Defeast aj Styles in the tournament final to
5:01
win the inaugural w World Await Championship. You and I both had Seth Frank
5:04
and Rons again the victory. Solid match that felt like this result was a
5:08
foregone conclusion all along. Seth Rons is a world champion again, and I
5:13
am here for it. Doctor Trey. Yeah, like SE's one of our
5:15
favorite characters on TV right now. I don't know if I can say this
5:20
match delivered just because of the fact that, you know, it's a little
5:25
bit it wasn't as good like the foregot the conclusion was there, so to
5:29
speak, Yeah, yeah, it was. It just it just always felt
5:31
like it was gonna be Cody or Seth Frank and Rons. I guess is
5:34
where I sit on it? Sorry, they're making me move my vehicle.
5:42
Oh, no problem, who who is making you move to your vehicle?
5:45
So apparently, so I stopped at a target to record the podcast on the
5:48
way home, and I guess they're about to repave the concrete. So the
5:56
workers are like, hey, weird guy on the phone in an suv,
5:59
can you please leave your vehicle to the other park a lot? And it
6:00
was a guy who spoke very very little English, so I had to acquiesce
6:05
to his request. That's I'm going to leave this in this podcast. So
6:10
usually we edit stuff like this out, but I think we leave this one
6:13
in because it was like, I'm like, do we lose them? No,
6:15
it's not as good. It's not as good as the policeman. But
6:18
now like it's not as good as say, this might be top four,
6:20
but this is not good as Sammy assaulting me or the police. But when
6:26
you have a hispanic what is that noise? I don't know what that always
6:30
is? What is that? Oh? Apparently got an email? Nothing all
6:35
day? And then of course I get this guy and then the emails um
6:39
shows going off the rails here, folks, Oh, I know quickly this
6:42
is this is like I survived. This podcast should be the T shirt.
6:45
I'm wearing it all right, let's get to h Let's get to the next
6:47
match here, Doctor Trey tris Stradis defeats Becky Lynch. You and I bought
6:50
that tristradis good match. Really like the addition of Zoe Start to this feud
6:54
and getting involved in the match to help Trish. Did not see that comment.
6:57
I'm a fan of Zoe Stark, so I liked what I saw.
7:00
Good match this past Saturday night. Yeah, I really enjoyed the match.
7:02
I love the Zoe Start pairing because for a lot of the younger fans,
7:05
they don't are the fans, they don't want to Anstey don't only know her,
7:08
but not just that, but she looks like a version of Trish.
7:11
She looks like a little bit younger Jack Verger or Trish where they staying side
7:15
by side, So I loved it. Plus this also they could also bring
7:17
Leda back into the picture because we could get Becky and Leda versus Zoe and
7:20
Trish as well. So that makes my heart happy as well. Next match
7:26
here is Gunther defeating Mustafa Ali to retain the w Intercontinental Championship. We both
7:30
had Gunther very entertaining match. Mustafa Ali looked like a star and I don't
7:34
know when the last time we saw a bad match from Gunther. So great
7:38
match Gunther mustaf Ali, who later showed up on NXE television this past week.
7:44
I guess hess I set on the North American Championship in Wesley. Loved
7:47
this match, Doc Tree, it was a lot of fun. No fantastic
7:49
match. Doesn't have a bad match. This also to me, this reminded
7:54
me of Rhan Zalina from you know, the previous pay per viewer, like
7:58
over with the crowd. They had to make him look good. You still
8:01
got the heel champion winning, but Mustafa comes out look. The only thing
8:05
I question is Mustafa comes out looking really strong and then he gets sent to
8:07
NXT Like that makes kind of question the thought process behind him, so I
8:13
question that as well. And then he made mention that he's a free agent.
8:18
I was like, that's interesting, and they did play off of his
8:20
match with Gunther going for the Intercontinental Championship that he wants more opportunities at gold.
8:26
He's a free agent. We saw who attacked Carmelo Hayes at the end
8:31
of NXC television that we'll talk about here. Later on, So I thought
8:35
from a storyline standpoint and actually made sense. But I could see your understanding,
8:39
like, Okay, he goes from Icy title to maybe the North American
8:41
Championship. But I think it does help elevate NXC some when you have the
8:46
most recent Intercontinental Championship challenger down in NXT going after one of their championships.
8:52
Yeah. I mean, we saw it with Dolf last year doing that and
8:56
helping Guy. We see you with Apollo, So it's a formula. It's
8:58
worked. It was just like you said, like going from the Intercontal title
9:01
to now I guess the NXT version of the Intercontal title the North American title
9:05
is kind of to me a step backwards. And at this point, I
9:09
just I think I think they're trying to figure out what to do with Mustafa
9:13
because the positive Ali gimmick didn't really work, the retribution gimmick didn't work.
9:18
The only one that people really got behind was the iron man gimmick that he
9:20
was kind of doing for a while, you know, during the two oh
9:24
five Live days, and he's just I think he's a star. I'm a
9:28
Mustaf Ali fan, and wherever he ends up, if he gets more television
9:31
time and more match time. I'm here for it, so happy for him.
9:35
Oscar defeats Bianca Belair to win the w W RAW Woman's Championship. I
9:39
had Oscar Doctor Trey Bianca Belair. I liked to finish with Oscar sprain that
9:43
miss on our hands to blind Bianca during the ko D spot. This was
9:46
the right call, as Bianca's title ran was kind of getting a little bit
9:48
stale Doctor Trey, what say you? Yeah, You're absolutely right. I
9:52
had Bianca winning because it was the John Cena factor, like until she loses.
9:56
I just didn't see her losing. I love the finish I have.
10:00
I've seen I saw the great kabuky do that in like nineteen eighty three,
10:03
so I love that. It's just a long throwback to the mist on the
10:07
hands to help get the win. So made a ton of sense. Oscar
10:11
is a heel, so she has to cheat to win. And then now
10:13
you get to see if Bianca can rise back with the rank or if they
10:16
end up flipping her heel. Perhaps maybe at some point m SO tuned.
10:20
Next match, here's Riha Ripley defeating Natalia to retain the WI Smack to him
10:24
it's championship. We both at Ria Ripley disappointing match that reflected the bill for
10:28
this feud very well. As always with a result like this, it'll be
10:31
interesting if this leads to anything for Riha and Natty. Did not see anything
10:35
on RAW. We'll see if anything further happens. Just hate to see Nattie
10:37
get jobbed out like this unless there's some sort of storyline behind it. Yeah,
10:41
and I hated it because A it makes Natty look bad because you got
10:46
distracted by Dom and then b doesn't do anything for Rea, Like Ria had
10:50
to beat Natty really quickly with the help from Dodd, So it's like it
10:54
doesn't really benefit either person going forward. So just hated it, really really
11:00
hated it. Next match here is brock Lesnar feeding Cody Rhodes. We both
11:05
had brock Lessner entertaining match that told the great story. I like where this
11:09
is heading for Cody Rhodes, and this feud has really been impressive in helping
11:13
continue to grow Cody as a character, especially following the night after Russellmany people
11:18
did not like it. I'm liking this, Doctor Trey. Your thoughts,
11:22
Yeah, I really enjoyed this match, one of Brock's better matches he's had
11:24
in a while. I love the cast stuff. I love that in the
11:28
beginning he was trying to fight alarmed, then he realized he could use the
11:31
cast like it all made a ton of sense and really worked and so great
11:35
storytelling. And this is what we talk about. Cody has to have obstacles
11:39
to overcome, and he's got a big one that he has overcome heading into
11:43
SummerSlam season. And then finally the main event here, Kevin Owens and Sammy
11:46
Zane defeat Roman Rains and Solo Sitoa to retain the undisputed WE Tag Team Championship.
11:52
We both had Ko and Sammy get the victory. The finish of this
11:54
match was really good. The USO's accidentally super kicking Solo the first thing Roman
12:00
Rain saw to Roman pushing Jay around to these superkicks from Jimmy. It was
12:05
all very well done, leading to Sammy and Kevin retaining. I officially think
12:11
Jay usso Met may be the most compelling wrestling character in the entire industry,
12:16
as he is once again torn when it comes to his relationship with a bloodline.
12:20
Like Great Match Love, the Finnish Great clothes, compelling stuff. Can't
12:26
wait to see where this heads on Friday night SmackDown, Doctor Trey. Your
12:30
thoughts, my friend, Yeah, loved it, Love the entrances. I
12:33
love Sammy coming out and speaking Arabic. Love the whole match. Loved the
12:39
finish, Like, this is just great storytelling. And you're right, like,
12:41
I love that it's Jimmy that turned on Roman and that Jay is torn
12:48
again, like and he does. He may be one of the top five
12:52
wrestlers with facial expressions in the business a day. Just great storytelling, great
12:58
character work. And then you're right. Now, I have to watch SmackDown
13:01
to add to my collection of wrestling this week to see what happens with the
13:03
bloodline because of how that match ended. Yeah, it's it's great stuff.
13:09
You know, I do question, Doctor Trey, is it somewhat too much?
13:13
Sometimes? Because it was reminiscent of the Sam Musane stuff from the Royal
13:18
Rumble. But this time Jimmy was siding with Roman, and it wasn't that
13:22
long ago where you know, Jimmy was on the side of Roman and making
13:24
them choose, and you know, Roman basically pushed him and his brother around
13:30
following WrestleMania, Like I do question, is it, like is it too
13:33
much throwing shit at the wall, But it's just so damn good. They
13:37
execute it so darned well and it's enjoyable. But I do question, like,
13:43
like I said, I do question is if it's too much sometimes?
13:46
And then they still haven't touched on the solo angle of it, with solo
13:50
actually being Jimmy and Jay's brother. Yeah, yeah, that's another layer to
13:54
the story that could still take you. My issue was maybe the turnaround time
14:00
was too quick. Maybe we should have waited another month for this December before
14:03
pointing the trick has only it's only been yeah, a couple of months as
14:07
WrestleMania, that's only a couple of months after you know, Sammy did his
14:11
turn because elimination Chamber was in February. So is it too soon for all
14:15
of these people's turning against Roman. But hey, empires have to crumble to
14:18
then get rebuilt someday, So maybe they're like, hey, if we're going
14:22
to tear it down, let's just tear it down to you know, just
14:24
the bricks in the mortar. The beauty of this feud and the beauty of
14:28
that moment at the close of Night of Champions Is it took me back to
14:31
Helen a Cell twenty twenty when it was Jus versus Roman Rains and Jimmy,
14:37
who was hurt at the time, came in the ring and that was like
14:41
the beginning of Jay and Jimmy siding with Roman, and it was like,
14:45
this is what you should have done a long time ago. Like the storylines
14:48
has just made sense. And the callbacks even three years later, whether it
14:54
was intentional or not by de Wust part just it's it's so well written,
15:00
and I think it's forgotten because the head of creative at the time from w
15:05
was a different person than it is now with Triple h at the Helm versus
15:09
Vincent the Helm, even though Bruce Pritchard was someone and you know, heavily
15:11
involved as well. I just like the callbacks. I like how they tie
15:16
things up. I like the full circle stuff. I love the fan theories
15:20
about it, like those are always the cool things about stories that we all
15:24
see, whether it's for those that are you know, fans of Ted Lasso
15:28
and that his season just end recently and people are coming up with theories Mandalorian
15:33
anything, Star Wars, whatever, like fans always make up their own theories,
15:37
and that's what w has done with his feud. And I don't ever
15:41
remember a storyline like this where you have fan theories as to what you're seeing
15:46
and what people are thinking. Like it's it's heavily enjoyable. Yeah, so
15:50
in your mind, what what is the big what's the payoff? I mean,
15:52
there's gotta be a one on one match. There's gotta be a payoff,
15:54
is it? I do? I think the payoff is Jay Usso And
16:00
I mean this is this is for a story for another day and maybe we
16:03
talk about it at greater length on next week sins the show, but the
16:07
stories are out there right now that the plan still is for Cody versus Roman
16:11
and Wrestlemanning of forty next year, Like that's still the plan. And in
16:15
my mind, it's like, all right, well, Cody's not going to
16:17
lose two in a row to Roman and wrestle Maning, Like that's when they
16:19
when they pull the trigger and we have a new champion, I would think.
16:23
But um, it's like, you know, I'm starting to think like
16:26
this could beat the breakout for Juso. I never saw the usos as the
16:33
Heart Foundation or the Rockers or the Hardy Boys or Edging Christian where one of
16:40
the two members of the you know, one of the members of that team,
16:44
legendary team becomes a world champion or a main event player. And I
16:49
think Jay Usso has that capability. Like the fans, I don't think there's
16:55
anybody that's more compelling and captivating right now and relatable to the fans and Jay
16:59
Uso and in any wrestling organization right now. I think the fans are have
17:04
more close sincere feelings with Jay Usso than any wrestler in the entire company now
17:11
into all of wrestling. Yeah, and I think the crazy part of as
17:14
I don't. I think the fans relate to Jay Usso, but they don't
17:18
know how to feel about Jayuso. Yeah, yeah, ntil will until we
17:22
see it, right, I mean, Sammy's done it, Jimmy's done it
17:25
is solo next? When does Jay? Maybe? The compelling storyline here is
17:30
we were waiting for Sammy to pull the trigger for all the entire time?
17:34
Is it now? Jay? Is Jay the one that pulls the trigger?
17:37
And does Jay side with Roman? Tomorrow night on SmackDown, Friday Night on
17:41
SmackDown and then feuge with his brother for a little bit, and then he
17:45
in three four months from now, pulls the trigger like what's it going to
17:48
take? And I think that's where everybody's kind of watch right now. The
17:52
feeling is very reminiscent of Sammy that Jay eventually turns on Roman, and that
17:56
reaction from the fans may be bigger than Sammy and Roman from Royal Rumble.
18:00
So great show overall. I went seven out Dot Trey went six and one.
18:06
Coming out of the show, I went forty three and fifteen Doctor Troy
18:08
thirty nine and nineteen. Match of the Night and event rating. I gave
18:15
nxc xcuse me w Knight of Champions four point one out of five, and
18:19
I gave Sammy, Sandy, Kevin Owens taking on Roman, Range and soloticoa
18:22
my Match of the night, Doctor Trey, what say you? I went
18:26
a little lower. I was three point nine. I thought it was a
18:27
really solid show. Obviously the finishingly great. The rest stuff kind of pulled
18:32
it down a little bit for me. My match, I know I did.
18:34
I went with Gunther and mustaf Ali. I love the crowd for that
18:38
match. I mean, I mean obviously the main event match. The crowd
18:42
was really into it. But mustaf Ali getting a chance to shine and then
18:47
having a great match with Gunther. He power bombed Gunther for crying out loud.
18:51
That was incredible. So I gave it to Gunther and mustaf Ali for
18:55
the for match of the night. And I was going to mention this at
18:56
the top, but I'll mention it now um off until we recap the show.
19:00
These Saudi Arabia shows are just like a regular wrestling, you know,
19:04
premium life event. Now, there was a period of time where it just
19:07
felt like a throwaway. It's like, up, here's the Monsoor match,
19:11
here's the legend that the Saudi Arabian officials want to see. It's Goldberg versus
19:15
Undertaker, It's Bray Wyatt versus Goldberger, gets Dax reuniting, It's the Brothers
19:21
and Destructions. It's a legit show. Now, dout Trey and Propositivity.
19:25
We for giving us a legit show and not something that's just a throwaway.
19:29
Not to mention like a couple of things. I know. It is like,
19:30
hey, they've changed the seatings. Remember early on they had the big
19:33
giant like throne looking chair, they had like couches. Yeah, yeah,
19:37
Now, I mean they look like a wrestling show at a strip club.
19:41
Basically early on it was weird. It looks more like an actual event.
19:45
And then also we're at a point now they had three women's matches on that
19:48
show, like how far has this? How far has w become in Saudi
19:52
Arabia to have three women's matches when we could barely get one early on,
19:57
we just had three. It was fantastic, Yeah, it was. It
20:00
was a rat show overall, really enjoyable, and that takes us to Sunday
20:04
Night now. NXE Battleground recap review of this past Sunny from the Songa Center
20:08
in Lowe, Massachusetts. First match was west Lee defeating Tyler Bit and Joe
20:12
Gayzy and a triple threat match to retain the NXCY North American Championship. We
20:17
both at Joe Gacy such an enjoyable triple threat match. Westlee continues to prove
20:21
me wrong during the North American Championship title rain. I don't think I've picked
20:25
him once, suck to try, and I think I should keep it that
20:27
way. I think Westlee, it would be happy if you stop, if
20:33
you just kept not picking him to win. I'm mad because typically I always
20:37
picked Wesley and I didn't because I thought Joe Gayzy really needed to win.
20:41
It was a great I really enjoyed the match. I don't I don't know
20:45
about you. I don't know how I feel about Tyler Bate right now.
20:48
You think about Tyler Bate from now to four years ago when he won the
20:51
first UK title to where he's at now. I just I don't feel like
20:55
he's been elevated like. I don't think he's any better now than he was
20:59
four years In fact, he's probably a stepped down from where he was,
21:02
so that's a little discerning. Although he does have like the Chris Hemsworth hair
21:06
and mustatch thing going on right now, he does, he certainly does.
21:10
Next match. There's no I'm Dard fitting Dragon Lee in a British Rounds Rules
21:12
match Retaine the NX Heritage Cup. I had Dragon lead, doubt Trey and
21:17
No i'm Dar. It looks like No I'm Dar has himself a stable now
21:19
and I'm not sure if the British Rounds Rules match played well to a live
21:23
US crowd at Battle Brown. I did enjoy these matches in Axe UK,
21:26
but it didn't seem like the crowd was enjoying it. Doctor Try. I
21:30
don't think the crowd really knew the rules. You know, we're not like,
21:33
we're not accustomed to this stuff. And although they put it on screen
21:37
for the at home audience, I don't really know if they did that for
21:40
the in ring crowd. So, and they didn't do it on the actual
21:45
introductions. So I think this is one of the things that people are going
21:48
to have, much like the all that the Grand Championship they had an impact
21:53
years ago. You know, it's like it's gonna take a little while for
21:56
people to really kind of figure it out, figure out how it works,
22:00
all those things. Because I was still getting kind of lost because I didn't
22:03
really follow it in NXT or in NXTUK. So even I was like,
22:07
wait, so if they get two falls, it's over, like, but
22:11
if it's tied, they don't go to the route like. It was a
22:14
little bit kind of confusing at first, and you know, so I'm still
22:18
like, okay, give me another one, give me another one, and
22:19
then once I get the hang of it, I'll be fine with it.
22:22
Yeah, it does take a little bit. I think they should have done
22:25
more of those matches on NXEC television to get fans ready. To be honest,
22:29
I think there's only one, so yeah, they should have done more
22:33
heritage cut matches. Elia dragon offf defeats Daijack in a last man standy match.
22:37
I had Elia dot Trey a Dijack, really good compelling match. I
22:41
had a great storytelling him. The only thing is I wish they had a
22:42
little bit more time to play it out. Eli defeats Daijack Doctor Trey.
22:48
Yeah, I really enjoyed this match. Elia Dragonof was one of like polarizing
22:52
figures for me when it comes to wrestling because he's so small, but yet
22:56
he's so freaking brutal. Sometimes I'm like, is that believable? Like,
23:02
but he's just so entertaining to watch. Um, I don't know about you.
23:06
Like, but when Djack came out and like pointed out his wife and
23:08
his kid and told her to like, hey, he doesn't need they don't
23:11
even see this, I was kind of hoping for an interaction with dragging off
23:15
with them. But overall, like the brutality of this match man was just
23:19
second to none, Like those Kendos stick shots in the corner man, it
23:22
was killer, so I really enjoyed it. I you know, five more
23:26
minutes of it maybe would have paid off a little bit more. But overall,
23:30
man, it was a really really fun match to watch and just super
23:33
brutal. Next matches Gallasafeed and the Creed Brothers to retain an exec Tag Team
23:37
championship by the Gallast trade the Creed Brothers solid tag match. I would have
23:41
preferred a different finish than av attack in Ivy Now Nile to distract the Creed
23:45
Brothers leading to the loss, but they did follow it up on NXEC television
23:51
the next two nights, Tuesday Night, Gallasafeeds the Creeds out to try.
23:56
Yeah, this is this is my Westley thing. I'm not picking the Creeds
23:59
any more. So ye welcome, welcome to the club. Yeah. Just
24:03
when I get on board with them, then they let me down. So
24:07
but I do love Gallas. I mean, Gallas reminds me of some of
24:08
these indie tag teams I see out there, because they don't look like your
24:11
prototypical WW wrestlers. They just two big, strong, tough guys that just
24:15
beat the crap out each other. I mean, watching that match, I
24:19
mean those belly of bellies that Julius was throwing. I'm like, you were
24:23
not getting a Suplex City reference here, nothing like that. Like he was
24:26
just tossing those boys around. And that's why I was kind disappointing to finish,
24:30
because I was like, man, you made Julius look like a star.
24:33
But then he's the one who took the pin that took the pinfall loss.
24:34
So um wasn't It wasn't a great fan of the Fish, but the
24:38
match itself was fine and really fun to watch. And um Like, I'm
24:41
a huge fan of the Crane, but I'm just not gonna pick them anytime
24:45
soon. Welcome MAT's how I feel about Wesley. Um, I just completely
24:49
whiff on all that. Next matches Triffany Strat Tiffany Stratton defeating and liar Lyler
24:55
Valka VALKILLERI jeez, I can't even say this one. Tiffany Stratton defeating Lyra
25:00
Valkyrie in the tournament final to win the Vaca Anexy Women's Championship. We both
25:03
had Tiffany Stratton. The crowd seemed really into this match and or Tiffany.
25:08
I thought the match was fine and while the Tiffany Stretton character is definitely there.
25:12
The in ring work is still a step or two behind. If she
25:15
could put that all together, she'll be a force in WWE for some time.
25:18
It kind of reminds me of how Jade Cargill has been in AW where
25:22
you can see the potential but the in ring work is just not there yet,
25:27
your thoughts ought to try. Yeah, it's it's one of those things.
25:32
So I mean, this is the w blueprint. Now, it's the
25:36
Charlotte Flair, It's the Mandy Roadside blueprint for Tiffany Stretton. They love their
25:40
beautiful blonde bombshells. Like, I thought the match was okay, but this
25:45
goes to show that Tiffany needs a good dance partner. Like you go back
25:48
and watch that match with Rock Samperez and she looks fantastic, and Lyra's maybe
25:52
a step below where Rock sands at and you can see it in the match.
25:56
Plus like a couple those spots. I just like, I don't think
25:59
they're done it before, and it just looked like they've never done it before.
26:03
But I think the choice of putting the title on Tiffany makes the most
26:07
sense because she's the most likely person to be booed by the fans at some
26:10
point. Just you know, they like if if they could start a new
26:12
BFFs, Like, I'd be on board with it. Yeah. You were
26:18
a couple of people with who was that summer Ray and Sasha Banks? Right
26:22
the summer Sasha and then Charlish right yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
26:27
that was a great early NXT on Dodoy Network group. Um yeah,
26:32
they got to do something. And did you did you watch Tuesday's NXC No?
26:37
I had to work, so yeah that sucks the working thing. You
26:41
know, you gotta pay the bills. Tiffany Stratton's promo not good. I
26:45
yeah, and in ring live promos have not been great. Behind the scenes
26:52
interviews with Mackenzie Mitchell or Vignette very good. The in Rings it's almost like
26:57
she's lost track of like what she's supposed to say at times, Like it's
27:02
these weird breaks in between. It's it's the Jade Cargill effect for me.
27:07
In doctory, It's like, you know, this girl could be a star.
27:10
It's just she's got to put it all together here soon. I mean
27:12
she's been she's only been in the business less than what two years? And
27:18
and I don't know who teaches promo class in WW but we don't have a
27:22
Dusty Rhodes there anymore, no, you know, like that was I mean.
27:25
And some people are just naturally gifted and talented and some people they really
27:29
have to work at it. And I think she I think when and I've
27:32
knows in her live promos like she tends to focus on one subject line that
27:36
she knows she has a nail, but she will say it like three or
27:37
four times and it just like, yeah, we get the point, and
27:41
Jade does kind of the same thing, you know, and then when once
27:44
that point gets out there, they go all right, now what you know,
27:47
it just kind of comes off like they're like deer in headlights. But
27:49
then again, she's she's a blonde, so maybe she just forgets her lines.
27:52
I don't know. And finally the main event, Carmel Hayes defeats Broun
27:56
Breaker just retain the NXC Championship. We both Carmelo Hayes good back and forth
28:00
physical match. Carmelo need this win. It continues show he is for real
28:04
as the NXC champion. Be interest to see what's next for braun Breaker Doctor
28:08
Trey Carmela defeats Braun. M Yeah, I'm trying to figure out who's the
28:12
free agent that they can bring down. I don't know. I mean Braun
28:18
and Dragon off. I think that'd be fun, I'd be interesting. I
28:21
don't know. It is is kind of one of those things where like where
28:25
do you go with him? Do you decide to move him to the main
28:26
roster heading in the SummerSlam and they can be kind of an attraction like debuting,
28:32
or do you keep him an exc longer. I think he's proven that
28:33
he can be a heel and a baby face. It's just where do they
28:37
see him as a good fit going forward? Because you land him on on
28:41
Monday, I mean you land him on SmackDown. You know, now,
28:45
this is the guy that can physically match up with Roman. If you decide
28:48
to go that way, you put him on Raw, he can physically match
28:51
up with Gunther for the Innerconhel title. Like, you can go either way
28:55
with him, just depends on what's the best fit. Or you can leave
28:57
him an exte for more seasoning as a heel and then try to, you
29:00
know, rebuild him back up to be another threat. Because now he's owing
29:03
two against Carmelo, did we interest in what happens with Braun next because because
29:07
I don't know, because that's always the weird thing about NXC. These former
29:11
champions. They reach a point where they have the final match for the title,
29:15
they lose, and then it's like, well, did they get called
29:18
up? Does he go raw or SmackDown? They just had the draft?
29:22
Does he say an NXC? If he does, what do you do with
29:23
him? So interesting times for Braun. Carmelo has somebody that wants to vie
29:30
for his NXC championship, Dot Trey. As the close of NXC television.
29:33
Since you did not watch, I will fill you in, and I think
29:37
you're sitting down to hear this. But Baron Corban made his NXC to return
29:42
the free agent and he took out Carmelo Hayes to close out this week's edition
29:47
of NXC Television. After Carmelo retained against no Am Daring the main event,
29:52
Baron Corban Carmelo Hayes. I guess I could get down with that. Now
29:56
you're going to fill me in. Now is this happy urban Baron Corban or
30:00
a lone wolf Baron Corbin? It it looks like it's just Baron Corbin.
30:07
I guess, no gimmicks, No gimmicks, Baron Corbin, no gimmicks.
30:11
Yeah, there's your Chris Candido reference. I make it full. Yeah,
30:15
you know I I do. I don't mind the Baron Corbin moved down because
30:19
he kind of needs to get out of the main It's kind of the same
30:23
thing with the Lias, Like he's been buried and beating so much on the
30:27
main roster. Like, hey, maybe get him out of sight, out
30:30
of mind for a while, try something different, whatever it is. Uh,
30:36
just don't make Baron have a brother that we didn't know about. That's
30:38
a twin. I'll be fine with that as well. Um, it's it's
30:42
and we've seen it work a little bit for Apollo. We've seen it work
30:45
in the past with you know, Cesarro and uh t or Tyson kid Like
30:52
we've seen these work. You know, we saw with Finn Balor. It
30:55
worked with Finn. So it's a chance to kind of get out of the
30:57
eye. Get he said, because in a lossie, Baron Corbyn's one of
31:00
the best heels in professional wrestling. It's just that right now he's kind of
31:06
missed where nobody takes him seriously as a credible threat. To win a match,
31:08
and somehow you have to change that narrative in order for him to be
31:12
successful again. I went four and two, Doctor went Frame three coming out
31:17
of a forty seven and seventeen tray forty two and twenty two Match of the
31:22
Night event rating. I gave NXC Battleground a three point five. My match
31:26
to night was Wesley Tyler, Bate, Joe Gacy, Doctor Trey, What
31:30
say you? I was three point six. My match to night was Gallus
31:34
and the Creed Brothers. Because that Julius Creed, I I'm sold on him
31:38
like that Dud's gonna be sorry. And I told you man, I know,
31:41
and I like Bruce. My only issue Bruce is he needs a facial
31:45
hair because he looks like he's an overgrown thirteen year old bold ring. Sure
31:48
he does. He does from like Ohio or Iowa or something. Maybe they
31:52
are from Iowa, I don't know. And then finally, aw dolla or
31:56
nothing. Recap and review this past sign from the T Mobile Arena and Nevada.
32:00
I guess before we get into this dive of Trey lots stuff going on
32:04
social media. We mentioned this a couple of weeks ago when we were talking
32:07
about all In in the UK. I was perplexed because all in the UK
32:13
was selling Gangbusters sixty five thousand tickets have been sold at this point, and
32:17
then Doublore Nothing was having a really tough time with their ticket sales, like
32:22
it was like six hundred and sixty in a three week span that were like
32:27
sold by Brandon Thurston of Russell Nomics. And then you saw the pictures online.
32:32
I don't know if you saw them do Trey, but lots of empty
32:35
seats just really disappointing to see because you know, we want aw to thrive,
32:40
but that was not a good look at all, and I do believe
32:44
it's reflective of what they've been put on their television over the last three months.
32:47
Well, it's also Vegas. I mean in Vegas one of the hardest
32:51
cities of drawing because you have so much competition. I mean you got to
32:53
think about I mean WW backed out of the Allegiant Building Stadium. Yeah with
33:00
the Raiders play. You know, to me, I think you can put
33:05
Vegas in Miami in the same category when it comes to professional wrestling, where
33:08
it's like, yeah, if it's the only thing going on in town that
33:12
night, it'll do a good crowd, but it's Italy. The crowds just
33:14
aren't into it. They're not that they're just kind of passive, you know,
33:20
Los Angeles and we do like the Staples Centers occasionally. He's kind of
33:22
like that too. Some of these like tourist attraction towns don't really draw well.
33:30
You need kind of those blue collar kind of cities for the crowds to
33:32
really get behind him. So I put I put some the blame, as
33:36
you know once again, and the T Mobile Center they help our mouths.
33:39
And you're going to tell me the T Mobile Center can only draw six and
33:43
sixty people, like there's some other things going on there, But I really
33:45
think it's just Vegas on a Memorial Day weekend more than anything else. Just
33:50
to be clear, it wasn't six hundred and sixty people in attendance oh sold
33:53
you know, yeah, over like a three week span. It was very
33:55
very small numbers. First match, you were somebody buying the hard He's in
34:00
Hook defeat Ethan Page and the Guns in a six man tag team match.
34:02
Would the win Matt Hardy owns Ethan Page's contract. We both had the Hardies
34:07
in Hook solid opener and start the show. They will be forever one of
34:09
the best, but you can start to see that time is catching him to
34:13
the hardies. Unfortunately, Doctor try Yeah, so does this mean that Ethan
34:16
Page is in an indentured servants Like, I don't really know what a good
34:22
guy owns the bad guy's contract. I don't really know what they're gonna have
34:25
him do. Is he gonna be like put him in the French made out
34:27
but the hardy compound? I don't know. They didn't follow up it on
34:30
Wednesday's Dynamite. I guess maybe Friday's rampage, which was unfortunate. Yeah,
34:36
shocking. They don't follow up on that, but they'll put Hook in the
34:37
rain to get beat up by the embassy, to have Jungle Boy make the
34:40
say, hey, you got to reunite Junkle hook Man. Next match,
34:45
just Orange Cassidy to retain the aw International Championship and a twenty one man Blackjack
34:50
Battle Royal. I had Orange Cassidy on last week's show. We went back
34:54
and forth. I was like, I think Powerhouse Hobbs is in it.
34:57
He wasn't, so I did give Doctor the field. Nonetheless, Orange Cassidy
35:01
did retain. Battle Royals can sometimes be very formula lake and unoriginal, but
35:07
I felt like this Battle Royal was not that, and I really enjoyed the
35:09
finishing minutes with Sweve Strickling and Orange Cassidy. Orange Cassidy remains one of the
35:14
best champions in all of russ In Right now, Dot, trade your thoughts
35:16
on the twenty one man Blackshack Battle Royal. By the way, I love
35:21
swerves look with kind of the cross of being a rapper and then also being
35:25
embassy. Look like it's like he's a terrorist hip hop star. I love
35:29
that look for some reason. Yeah, I mean for a Battle Royal.
35:32
I enjoyed it. I love the finish. The finish, the little half
35:35
kick to take Swerve out was great. So it's just to me, I'm
35:40
looking at going like we you have to build like Swerve. Is Swerve really
35:45
like the only credible challenger right now for the international title? Like I love
35:50
Orange Cassidy, I love the run, but you've got to learn to build
35:53
the next level of challengers. I don't think they really do that very well.
35:58
For the undercards to speak, I think actually Swerve could be the guy
36:01
that stops the rain. Dot try they're facing off at Wednesday's Dynamite. I'm
36:06
a fan of Swerve right now. I've enjoyed his run as of late.
36:09
Yeah, I agree, Like, if you're going to pull the trigger,
36:12
now's the time. Um. Plus, apparently we're just gonna start by the
36:15
way, you go back to a jungle hook. Why we can't do hook
36:19
boys, hook boys? Hook hooker boys? Maybe hooker boys? Yeah?
36:25
Tweet Tony con that against the gass Boys the hooker Boys. Adam Cole defeats
36:30
Chris Jericho in an unsanctioned match with Sabo is the special guest enforcer with both
36:35
at Adam Cole, I felt like this match was a little bit underwhelming and
36:38
disappointing at some good moments, but overall felt like it missed the mark since
36:42
there were high helps for the match and it felt like the crowd lost interest
36:45
as the match went on. To have no idea why Sabo was even announced
36:49
for this match, because he was in it for like less than five minutes
36:52
and then wasn't a special guest enforcer. Very strange, but Adam Cole got
36:55
the victory Dutch tray, he went through a table, he did, he
37:00
did, God bless him. So that's all the like Tony Goil everything,
37:04
Tony con said, Hey, we'll pay you some money to go through a
37:06
table. I don't know how I feel about this match because I didn't hate
37:09
it, I didn't love it, and then I don't know. I almost
37:14
feel bad for Chris Jericho right now because it just seems like he's in I'm
37:16
gonna help, which is not a bad thing. We've talked about Jericho being
37:20
in women one of the ultimate soldiers in professional wrestling, Like he's like right
37:23
now, he's just trying to help get everybody else over. But I feel
37:29
like he's so far down the food chains, like a credible world title challenger.
37:32
I still think you need him upper of the card and still stealing wins
37:37
to help keep that just in case you need to pull that trigger again.
37:40
So like, I'm happy with the match, and Adam Cole needs it because
37:44
he's just he's back in dude, I just kind of feel bad for Jericho.
37:46
Yeah, Well, I don't know. I don't know how you can
37:49
feel bad for Jericho sometimes, man. I mean he's there to put over
37:52
guys, right yeah, and that's he's done that for the last you know,
37:58
five years, six years, not just this AUW time, but even
38:01
at the end of his WW run, he was guying there just to help
38:04
put guys over, So that's kind of his job now at this point,
38:07
though, I know, I think he takes pride in it. I think
38:08
he takes pride. I do. I agree. I guess you're right.
38:12
I don't know if I feel sorry for him. I just I love when
38:14
the Jericho characters at the top of the card. Although this was a great
38:17
featured match, I like when Jericho's in the title picture just because he's so
38:22
much fun to watch and so much fun to listen to. FTR defeats Jeff
38:27
Jarret and Jay Lethal to retain the end of a AW World Tag Team Champion,
38:30
with Mark Briscoes a specially guest referee. Both at FTR solid match.
38:34
I enjoyed the dynamical Mark brisco Is the referee, and I enjoyed it.
38:37
I did enjoy how this feud played out. It was good stuff. FTR
38:39
retains Yeah, and any Like we said earlier, it's hard to believe that
38:45
the two guys challenging for this match were the two guys fighting Rick Flair his
38:49
last match. Yeah, it's just it's like, Wow, that's really kind
38:52
of how we've come through this so far. But I enjoyed it, and
38:55
you know, like we talked about last week's show, like Jeff Jarret's damn
38:59
near national track meleasure to be as old as he is and still perform at
39:00
that lovely was tastic. You know, like, I really don't think with
39:07
these four guys and then Adam Mark Bresco, you can really have a bad
39:09
match because there's ultimate professionals when it comes to they're wrestling. Wardlow defeats Christian
39:15
Cage in a ladder match retain AWT and T Championship with Christian create Cage g
39:19
in the victory. Good match, Swanton bomb table spot was insane. Arn
39:22
Anderson biting Luca's source's thumb was bad. Strange trend at this point with outside
39:29
interference and influence in several double or nothing matches. We saw interference in Adam
39:35
Cole and Chris Jericho FTR and Jeff Jarrett, and then they did it again
39:39
with Wardlow and Christian Cage doctor Trey what aw using outside interference and matches No,
39:46
Like, look, there are times I feel like I'm watching WCW at
39:51
the end of their run like there's some stuff going on where my guys,
39:53
you just did outside interference three matches in a row and we haven't even talked
39:58
about the main of it yet. So is It's like, can't we just
40:01
like these the fans always talk about they want clean finishes, they want wrestling,
40:06
and they want true victors, and yet we have all of these outside
40:10
interference run in spots to make everybody still look strong and nobody loses cleanly.
40:15
But it's super indie wrestling at times. Speaking of which, Tony Storm defeats
40:20
Jamie Hayder to win the AWE Women's World Championship. We both had Tony Storm
40:23
not a great match, lots of again outside interference and influence. Again,
40:29
felt like this was booked to right Jamie Hayder off due to her injury.
40:31
If so, props to Jamie if you're getting it out despite battling her.
40:35
Tony Storm is the new aw Women's World Champion. Doctor try yeah, and
40:39
maybe the least known person in the outcasts. It's like, really, okay,
40:45
I mean, if you ask the casual, if you put I think
40:46
it would be Ruby soho. I gotta be honest. I think she had
40:50
more main time on WWE. So and if you ask, just if you
40:53
put the pictures out of the Stormers age, that's Ruby Riot, that's Tony's
41:00
fair fair fair yep, I would look h to me this This should have
41:05
been a Sorea spot, like if you're trying to set things up because you
41:09
know we'll get into another match later, Like, I like, is she
41:13
to the challenger? Is because Baker looks like she's tied up with Sorea?
41:16
Like is she to the next challenger for Tony Storm? Like? Is that
41:20
where we're going? And if so, haven't we kind of already seen Sheta
41:23
in this title picture? And is Rio missing? Do we need to put
41:27
out like a milk carton for her? Like? Where at the hell is
41:30
Rio? She's been that way since the pandemic. Yeah, it's like she's
41:32
here for a little bit, She's not. House of Black defeat The Acclaimed
41:37
and Billy Gunn in a open house rules match or retained the aw Trio's championship.
41:40
We did not put through this match as it was not announced when we
41:44
recorded. Match started slow but picked up towards the middle fun match. The
41:47
open house rules match presentation is really simple but great visually. House of Black
41:52
retained actor try. Yeah. I was confused at first when they said House
41:55
of Black ants and open house rules, I was like, are they are
41:59
they selling? Their house? Is the House of Black up for sale?
42:01
And if you ever been to an open house, they usually have snacks and
42:05
there was no snacks but fun match and the entire time all I can think
42:09
about is Buddy Murphy data Alexa Bliss, and now he's dating Rhea Ripley,
42:14
Like apparently that man has no type because those are total opposite ends of the
42:17
spectrum. But kudos to Buddy and Murphy for his love life as well.
42:22
Jade Cargill defeats Tie of Valka retain the to retain the awtb's Championship. We
42:28
both had Jade Cargill matches a bit of a cluster. If Jay can put
42:30
it together, she would be one of the biggest women wrestling stars in the
42:35
game today. It does feel like she may have plateaued in ring wise though
42:38
Dutch trade. Jade Cargill retained in mismatch. Yeah, Like, if she
42:43
can ever put together, she'd be the African American trailer flair, Like she
42:45
has all the athleticism to look at the charisma everything. If she can ever
42:50
just put it together, it'd be great. Just once again. This kind
42:55
of it kind of felt like crappy for Tia because it's the Athena, it's
43:00
the Ruby, soho. It's like, you get these big stars to come
43:04
in to help la a j but then what do you do with him after?
43:07
And I don't know about you. I was totally confused by taias staring
43:09
at the TV on Dynamite. It was totally confused. She's mad at the
43:13
person who wins the next match. I want to get right into it.
43:16
Yeah, go right into it. Chris stat Landard feats Jade Cargill to win
43:20
the AWTBS Championship. We did not predict that. Obviously, nice surprise to
43:24
see Chris stat Lander back from injury, but even sweeter to see her defeat
43:28
Jade Cargill to win the AWTVS Championship in a imprompt to match. Stan leanderd
43:32
has gone through a lot the last two years with multiple torn ACL injuries,
43:37
and it's nice to see her get some gold in a return as she deserves
43:38
that. This also protects Jade Carter Giles, she finally lost in an imprompt
43:43
two match rather than it was booked in advance, and I thought the streak
43:46
was a little bit stale because I just felt like fans didn't believe in it.
43:50
Chris stat Lanard is the new TBS champion Dodger Try. Yeah, totally
43:53
happy for Chris dat Lander. Like, I thought it was a good move
43:59
because that helped elevate another young talent that is similar to Jade and Tia and
44:06
build an athleticism. I do miss the alien gimmick full disclosure. I like
44:10
the booping, but like you said, it's say it spares Jade, it
44:16
elevates stat Lander, and then, like I said, like Tie is mad
44:21
because she lost, but the next person one, Like you're making Tie a
44:25
heel out of this, Like that part of I think the probably the storyline
44:30
is that Tie a soft and drop for Christallander. Right, yeah, but
44:34
then you're automatically turning a brand new person heel because of her losing. Like
44:40
it's like you haven't the crowd Like if if you turn her, the crowd
44:45
doesn't care because they haven't had time to invest in her one lay or the
44:47
other. So that's why I don't like that angle going forward, because you're
44:52
going to turn her and you're not going to get a reaction out of it.
44:54
I do you feel like tie is a much better heel than a much
44:58
better heal in a baby face? Yes? I agree. Next match here
45:02
is MJF defeating Sama Cavara, Darby Allen, and jungle Boy Jack Perry in
45:07
a four way match to retain the AW World Championship with both at MJF.
45:10
Really good fatal four away match. Loved a lot of spots in this match,
45:14
from all three guys team up early on to take out MJF, to
45:16
the tribute to the mentors, to Jungle Boy toying with using the AW World
45:20
Championship as a weapon to the finish that made so much sense with mjf's character
45:24
with the belt on top of jungle Boy, the when Darby was doing the
45:30
Cascad drop and then doing the head lock takeover a nice callback to their feud.
45:37
Fun and entertaining match, Doctor Trey, what say you as MJF retains
45:40
and best entrance of the weekend. Like out of all the shows, I
45:45
thought MGF had the best entrance. I love the throne, the mask,
45:47
the people, I loved all that stuff. Match was really really good,
45:52
But then you leave the question. Now, MJF just beat the other three
45:55
pillars? What does that mean for the other three pillars? And we saw
45:59
a little little bit with you know, Jungle Boy and Hook, we saw
46:02
a little bit with Derby and Staying and Orne Cassidy. So we just gotta
46:08
figure out what they're doing. Is Sammy next? It's just once again,
46:12
have you built anybody up to be the next challenger? Like you have to
46:15
have a plan of succession in line when it comes to building folks. So
46:19
maybe it's Sammy, you know, maybe they count they circle back to it.
46:22
But uh, it's great for MJF. It's great for the MJF character.
46:25
Storytelling was fantastic, But once again, who's next in line? You
46:30
have to have that kind of thing in mindset and they didn't pay it off
46:34
on Dynamite, their biggest show of the week. To answer your next in
46:37
line question, I think it's Adam Cole. The reports out that there was
46:40
a segment last week on Dynamite between Britt Breaker and MJF that was pre taped
46:47
that was going to lead towards the seeds being planted for that and they trashed
46:53
at that point. Um. I think Adam Cole's next in line, and
46:58
then I think the enter question of this is or the I guess a statement
47:02
more more or less here is. I felt like Sammy LaVar came out of
47:07
a feed as a star doctor Trey, like he became a baby face again,
47:09
like and he was very hateable. Like the baby announcement kind of wrapped
47:14
up. I'm like, dude, Sammy, is Sammy with JS anymore?
47:16
Because fans are down with Sammy var again? Yeah, I think in Sammy's
47:22
one of and I don't know if you agree to Sammy maybe one of the
47:24
most polarizing people in professional wrestling. Like you either love Sammy or you hate
47:30
Sammy. There's no middle ground. But as one who was a reviled heel
47:37
that proposed to his girlfriend in the ring in front of a live audience and
47:42
the crowd ate it up and kind of turned me baby face for about two
47:46
weeks. People love happy endings, people love happy news, and it's kind
47:51
of hard to boo the guy where they come out announced that they're having a
47:53
baby together. So just thinking about this, in eighteen years, you could
47:58
have the Tai Conti child battled, the Alexa Bliss child. Oh, stay
48:04
tuned, Stay tuned for more next match here. This is the main event
48:07
in Blackpool. Combat Club defeats the Elite and the Anarchy in the arena match.
48:13
We both at the Elite and victory. Fun match. Love the music
48:16
playing throughout. I did like Takeshka turning down the Elite and then how about
48:21
Wheeler you to getting the pin on Kenny Omega and then he followed it up
48:24
on Wednesday's Dynamite as well. But big for Wheeler Utah to get the pin
48:30
on Kenny like that was insane. Doctor trade your thoughts outside interference? Oh
48:36
of course, uh some shenanigans involved. I love. So this reminds me
48:40
a little bit of Paul Hayman when they gave him right back and they gave
48:45
him Curtis Curtis Axel back in the day, Like, Hey, we have
48:51
these guys that we think we go. We just know they need a mouthpiece,
48:53
you know. And so the pairing of of Don kalis in Takushida can't
49:00
pronounce his name, that's my liar to Keshka. I love the pairing because
49:05
ta Kesha's English isn't fantastic, so having and I mean seriously, Don Callis's
49:10
heat that he got on Wednesday night. It was the most heat I've seen
49:15
a manager get since the nineties, Like I have never seen a manager get
49:20
booed that hard and forever. So I loved it, as you know,
49:24
a lifelong fan of wrestling managers. So and then you too, getting the
49:29
winds great for him in his career because he can always hold that up and
49:30
then they can always circle back to at some point like it's let's say keny
49:34
Omega at some point against the world title, hey Udo can always bring up
49:37
the fact he pinned him. He deserves the title shot. So I love
49:39
that it gives that young man some some ammunition down the road when he needs
49:44
to use it. And then pay per view prediction records I went seven and
49:49
two, Dot Tree went six and three, closing out the entire weekend,
49:52
I went fifty four and nineteen. Doctor Trey went forty eight and twenty five.
49:57
For the year, Match of the Night and event rating, I gave
50:00
double or nothing any three point six and I gave MJF Samon Cavar At,
50:05
Darby Allan and Jungle Boy in my Match of the night doubt to try.
50:07
I was at a three point seven once again, like one of my things
50:12
on papers, I need a moment where it is memorable that I'm going to
50:15
remember for five or ten years. I don't think we got that, really.
50:19
But I also went with the four Pillar match mainly because I loved and
50:23
Jf's entrance, and I really thought that, like you said, they paid
50:27
homage to their mentors. You know, you tease a Jungle Boy heel turn
50:30
if they go that route. At some point, if Jungle Boy turns on
50:34
hook, I might pop for that, I will say, I will say
50:37
that, so that'd be kind of cool. I thought that was coming.
50:38
I really did. And I also thought the Acclaim was going to turn on
50:40
Daddy ass on Dynamite this past week. That was the second worst promo behind
50:47
the Tiffany Strand thing, apparently because that Acclaimed believe it made no sense,
50:52
Like what was the point of this? Yeah, it was like, what
50:55
is this leading in? Something? Like? It was bizarre, very bizarre,
51:00
all right, doctor. The big news outside of everything that took place
51:04
this past week is America's Professional wrestling in America's Nightmare is over as aw Tony
51:12
Kahn has announced the return of cmpunk to all Elite wrestling will be taking place
51:19
on Saturday Night Collision June seventeenth from the United c that are in Chicago,
51:22
Illinois. The back and forth of Willie Ever Wrestle again, the issues with
51:28
AW buying the scenes, the Instagram post story, NDA's the brawlout, suspensions,
51:37
torn triceps, John Moxley being mad. It's over essentially until he gets
51:45
buying the scenes and maybe another brawl out happens. But we have heard for
51:50
the first time since September twenty twenty two, Cmpunk's name uttered another. There's
51:54
been other times, but I guess for actual stakes in the game. See
52:00
him Punk uttered on AW television and returning to the ring acknowledgement from the announcers,
52:08
your thoughts see him Punk is back, by the way, So when
52:13
you saw it when they went to the live announced table after they made the
52:15
announcement, I think Tony Shivanni hate see him Punk, Like he looked disgusted,
52:22
almost like he's sold it, like excuse me, Like he sold it
52:24
like he was like, hey, it's great news. It's the greatest night
52:28
in the history of our business. But you can just see him almost like
52:30
rolling his eyes. Well, I was like, it'll be interesting how he
52:34
comes back as he baby face or heel. I also thought it was very
52:37
awkward the way that Tony Conn did it. Who is just Lord love him,
52:40
but he's just very awkward on television. He reminds me of like the
52:45
kid who has to give a book report and does not like standing in front
52:47
of the classroom. Oh it's terrible pretapes like where's the guy that was on
52:52
Impact Wrestling in twenty twenty? Oh yeah, I mean, but then again,
52:54
like it's easy to be a heel, it's hard to be likable,
52:57
that's true, But then again, is this not one of the most anti
53:01
climactic big news type thing Like I don't really like to have the big announcement
53:09
that we're having collision and then was it a week later, two weeks later,
53:15
I don't know the exact timeline, but to have a pre taped announcement
53:19
during the middle of Dynamites that hey, we're just happy to announce that CM
53:23
punk will be a collisions, Like, man, you could have made that
53:27
way grander And maybe it's their way of kind of test and still poking CM
53:34
Punk And I don't know about you. That crowd was split. It was
53:37
they said it was sixty forty. I read online that a lot of fans
53:40
and attendance were like sixty forty in favor of Punk, and you gotta figure
53:45
that's gonna be that way and unless it's Chicago, and then like, what
53:50
does this do to the Dynamite ratings? I mean, because they still have
53:53
not announced if it's a brand split or we're going to have people on bullshow,
53:57
like what we're gonna do? Like if that CM Punk show, are
54:01
the punk fans gonna not watch Dynamite out of loyalty to punk and vice versa?
54:07
Like is that actual? Actually don't doubt that. I don't think it's
54:09
as cultish as it was, like you know, two three years ago when
54:13
he was coming back, and you know, cultish when he was away from
54:17
wrestling all this time. I think I think the majority of fans don't side
54:23
with what he did, right Like you and I are big sampunk stands,
54:29
and I don't agree with what he did during that press comment. So I
54:32
think you don't air that dirty laundry out following all out like that. Yeah,
54:38
no, that I agree with, But then again, I still like
54:40
I still hold to that my blame for that whole situation is don't be gone
54:45
agree agree, But Sony just stood there like a goof and just making a
54:51
happy face and nodding his head in agreement. So yeah, I don't think
54:54
he what he did was the right thing to do. But like it,
54:58
you know, like you just said, if the crowd, if the live
55:00
crowd and a neutral city is split, sixty forty, Now Chicago crowd is
55:05
gonna be like all about it. But you know if if a live crowd
55:08
in neutral city sixty forty are like, what are the fans at home?
55:13
Like are they sixty forty? And some people may not watch it just because
55:15
they dislike everything that happens. So I don't know they need him back,
55:21
like it's clear his day they need him. But like I hate to say
55:24
that, but it's the truth. Like AW television has not been great like
55:30
double or nothing was. It was a solid show, but it was disappointing
55:35
on the AW standards. Yeah, you expect a lot more excitement, a
55:38
lot more buzz, a lot better in ringwork. The multiple like outside interferences
55:45
was laughable throughout the show. It's just creatively there's been something missing from AW
55:52
for a long time, and I think having seen him punk back. There
55:55
is gonna help at least that's my hope. Yeah. I just look at
56:00
like to have that announcement at that point of the show, and the way
56:05
it was done, it was weird. It was and it's so like an
56:08
can't do a Yeah, you can't do a vignette. No. He comes
56:13
out to the ring for every other big news event he does, but he
56:15
does a pre tape on this. He's been doing the pre tapes lately though
56:19
he's a busy man. He's trying to move the job wards. I just
56:22
think that they know that it's really strange when he gets on the screen,
56:24
like did you see his announcement about the owen Hart Cup, like and them
56:29
going to Canada? No, I missed that one, dear God. Like
56:32
so when he announced the dates and I don't know if it was for Collision
56:37
or the owen Hart Cup or mixture of both. I don't remember, but
56:40
he said Regina, which is a city in Canada, and you could hear
56:45
the crowd laughing, like I don't There was just like emphasis on him saying
56:50
Regina, Like it was like, dude, Like I like Tony con I
56:53
appreciate everything he's done. With aw dude talk work like the hugs, his
57:00
delivery on stuff. I feel like he hit like fifteen and then that was
57:06
it, Like he stopped at fifteen in his life, like the age of
57:08
fifteen, like over emphasizing red giants like it's a funny word, you know,
57:13
and then just that awkward smile like I'll tell you right now if if
57:17
I opened up my window and that face was smiling at me I when I'm
57:21
calling the cops, Like it's just kind of a creepy, odd look he
57:25
presents. And as much as we used to hate on Vince, like when
57:30
Vince was on TV, it was compelling television, whether it going back to
57:36
his announcing days or the mister McMahon character or any other iteration of him,
57:39
Like I don't know if there's anybody else that's been in a leadership role.
57:43
And this goes back to the beginning. Remember in the beginning, they didn't
57:45
want Tony on TV at all. Oh rightfully so, and Tony's on TV
57:50
every week now, so it's kind of like again that delivery, and it's
57:53
like and at the debut episode, will be see him punk like you almost
57:57
if you blink you miss it it's like, wait, you say punk and
58:00
then they cut to the crowd like you can't even have a bill towards that
58:05
and joining us for his return to the company at AW Collision in his hometown
58:10
of Chicago, Illinois, is the former two time AW World champion c M
58:16
Punk. Like, really, you just like and it's gonna be Cempunk.
58:22
Maybe it's a maybe it's a fake cmpunk. Maybe he's learning from the vince
58:25
Rest. Yeah, it could be see him Hunk, see him monk dunk.
58:31
Oh god, if I don't see an indie show guy, do c
58:35
M Monk and he actually comes out like Friar Tuck with a straight edged with
58:39
a straight edge of fist, wrist tapes and stuff. Oh my god,
58:44
that's gonna be. That's if I can get that somebody to do that gimmick.
58:47
I think I could actually retire happy. I mean I did. I
58:50
did get a gimmick called the blue Waffle over at his shows. Stay tuned,
58:54
folks, stay tuned. U. That will do it. For this
