- 0:02So they did it.
- 0:04They counted down the top one hundred
- 0:06women.
- 0:07Did we need it?
- 0:19I love the chase and the hunt and
- 0:21I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:22I always take what I want and I
- 0:24always give it one hundred.
- 0:25Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:27Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:28I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:30Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:31Now wake up!
- 0:33It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:35Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:37friend to me.
- 0:38It's not working out,
- 0:39maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:41It's time to break up so I can
- 0:43make a better me.
- 0:44It's lunch time.
- 0:50what is going on everybody welcome to
- 0:53lunch with the clydesdale good to be back
- 0:55on a friday afternoon oh man what a
- 0:59week what a week ready for the weekend
- 1:02ready to chill and relax hope you guys
- 1:05have had a great week yesterday i tuned
- 1:09in for the us canada finals in the
- 1:12women's hockey it was a beautiful day
- 1:15outside
- 1:17One thing you have to know,
- 1:18I get very excited at watching sports,
- 1:22watching sports.
- 1:22But most of the time,
- 1:25most of the time,
- 1:26like my passion is my Chicago Bears and
- 1:30then the CrossFit events.
- 1:31So most of the time,
- 1:33my house is sealed up.
- 1:36And because it's winter time and I'm
- 1:38rooting for my bears,
- 1:40but yesterday I tuned into USA,
- 1:42Canada women's hockey.
- 1:43What a game comes down to an empty
- 1:48net extra man situation for the U S
- 1:52women who tip the goal in,
- 1:55tie it up and take it to overtime.
- 1:58They go to three on three hockey for
- 2:00overtime.
- 2:02And then, and then,
- 2:06What an amazing play.
- 2:08A little deke,
- 2:10go past the goalie and backhand in for
- 2:13the score.
- 2:14And I literally, literally screamed, goal!
- 2:21as loud as I could back door was
- 2:24wide open,
- 2:24letting some fresh air come in yesterday.
- 2:27My whole neighborhood knew I was excited
- 2:29that the U S scored the goal.
- 2:31I couldn't like, it just,
- 2:33it just blurted out of me at full
- 2:36decibel language or, uh,
- 2:38uh loudness what a game what a game
- 2:42i that's why we love sports it is
- 2:44so unpredictable the u.s women dominated
- 2:47the entire tournament and canada had them
- 2:51on the ropes the u.s has not won
- 2:54a goal since
- 2:57They've been silver to the Canadians the
- 2:59last two Olympics.
- 3:01And to finally get that win, oh,
- 3:04so freaking awesome.
- 3:07What a way to end yesterday.
- 3:10I was so pumped.
- 3:13Really made the end of my workday go
- 3:14wild.
- 3:15But yeah, so, so cool.
- 3:17If you did not get a chance to
- 3:18see it,
- 3:19Amazing.
- 3:20And today we have the men.
- 3:22Canada plays in the one semifinal against
- 3:24Finland.
- 3:25The US plays in the other semifinal.
- 3:27Hopefully we get a US Canada final where
- 3:31we can watch that.
- 3:32I think it'll be on Sunday.
- 3:36But yeah.
- 3:37But in that case,
- 3:38I think the Canadians would be favored.
- 3:40U.S.
- 3:41would be the plucky underdogs.
- 3:43And we'd see how that kind of played
- 3:45out.
- 3:45But man, what a freaking game.
- 3:48What a freaking game.
- 3:51Got a lot of people in the chat.
- 3:53We got Vicky.
- 3:54We got Dave.
- 3:55We've got Frida.
- 3:56We've got Mark.
- 3:58Corey.
- 3:58Corey is not here because he's dealing
- 4:00with stuff from the accident.
- 4:02But he says he might jump on if
- 4:03he gets back in time.
- 4:05We've got Andrew Sten.
- 4:09We've got Sean in Oregon back with us.
- 4:12Good to see you, Sean.
- 4:13Been a minute.
- 4:14Glad to be here and happy to be
- 4:15a paid supporter of this channel.
- 4:17Yes, thank you so much for just,
- 4:19I think, as low as three ninety nine.
- 4:21You can support the channel by hitting
- 4:22that membership button.
- 4:24It helps us keep this show running.
- 4:26So, yeah, there's Terry.
- 4:31We've got Amanda.
- 4:32Figure skating had me up way too late,
- 4:34but so worth it.
- 4:36Yeah,
- 4:37I haven't got into figure skating this
- 4:38year.
- 4:39Watching a lot of snowboarding,
- 4:41watching a lot of skiing,
- 4:43watching some curling,
- 4:45watching a lot of hockey.
- 4:48I think that there's so much going on
- 4:50at the Olympics that it's hard to digest
- 4:54it all.
- 4:55You almost have to pick your lanes for
- 4:58the Olympics and then just get the updates
- 5:02on everything else.
- 5:05So yeah, it's been fun though.
- 5:11So the big news,
- 5:13if anybody didn't see it,
- 5:21I think this is the real.
- 5:23I'm going to share it.
- 5:24Hopefully this is the real.
- 5:29Hiller clipped this from a show I did,
- 5:32I think.
- 5:33Yep.
- 5:34like Brian is sticking his chest out like,
- 5:37John can't beat me down to a hundred.
- 5:41I think there's people that would still
- 5:42like to see me and John do some
- 5:43stuff together.
- 5:44Like a top hundred sort of deal?
- 5:46I would be up for it.
- 5:47I don't know if John could go a
- 5:49hundred deep.
- 5:49But here's the deal.
- 5:50Why do you need to go a hundred
- 5:51deep?
- 5:52Top ten in the world for women,
- 5:54top twenty for men.
- 5:55He's as good as anyone.
- 5:56Why is that even a thing?
- 5:58My full-time job is this sport.
- 6:01The media is too close to the athletes.
- 6:03What happens if he were to beat you?
- 6:05I will never root for Brooke Wills.
- 6:06How would he beat me?
- 6:08John was riding Austin Hatfield.
- 6:10It became personal with me.
- 6:12I will never root for Brookwells.
- 6:14Sorry.
- 6:15It's a fact.
- 6:15Brian Brent,
- 6:17that's why I'm the best analyst in this
- 6:19place.
- 6:20It makes no sense.
- 6:24It doesn't matter what you think.
- 6:29So, uh,
- 6:31Hiller clipped that up from my show and
- 6:33some of his show, uh,
- 6:35and they did a top one hundred women
- 6:37in the world countdown today.
- 6:41Uh, it was released about two hours ago.
- 6:43I watched it on time and a half
- 6:45speed, uh,
- 6:46to get through it before we did the
- 6:49show today.
- 6:52Um, my question to you is,
- 6:53and I still stand by this,
- 6:55why do we need to go to a
- 6:57hundred?
- 6:58Why do we need to go to a
- 6:59hundred?
- 7:00And, um, and so because,
- 7:08and we talked about this and I talked
- 7:09about it with Corey a few weeks ago.
- 7:13I don't get it.
- 7:14Like the games only has the top thirty
- 7:18in the world.
- 7:20And so the people relevant to the games
- 7:23are probably top fifty or
- 7:28Now,
- 7:29I want to make it clear because Jamie
- 7:31kind of came at me last night when
- 7:32we were texting that her and I have
- 7:35been one of the people who care about
- 7:37the top one hundred.
- 7:38It's not that I don't care about the
- 7:40top one hundred.
- 7:41It's not that I don't care about those
- 7:43athletes and their stories because I do.
- 7:46I think those stories could be told.
- 7:48And there are some really interesting
- 7:50stories in there that should be told.
- 7:53But when you get past...
- 7:57I mean, let's safely say forty.
- 8:00I would probably say thirty.
- 8:04The difference between the athletes is so
- 8:06minute, is so minute,
- 8:09and it's so program dependent that to rank
- 8:13them just seems silly.
- 8:17Like,
- 8:17I'm glad that some of these people are
- 8:19getting talked about and that their
- 8:23stories are being told a little bit.
- 8:26But to rank them just doesn't seem to
- 8:30matter to me.
- 8:32Because really, really, the, gosh,
- 8:37you could even, like,
- 8:39they made a great point with Hannah Black,
- 8:41right?
- 8:43John is like, she is a specialist.
- 8:45She's a strength specialist.
- 8:46She can win strength events and she can
- 8:49do very well at that.
- 8:51If the bias of that programming is towards
- 8:54strength,
- 8:55she will do better than somebody who is
- 8:58not strength bias.
- 9:00Yet,
- 9:01if Hannah goes to another competition and
- 9:05it is not strength biased and it's more
- 9:07CrossFit-y and it's more gymnastics,
- 9:11she's going to get trounced by some of
- 9:13these people that you have ranked around
- 9:15her.
- 9:15It is so program dependent.
- 9:18It is so, so program dependent.
- 9:21Yeah.
- 9:27Larry Young says,
- 9:28I watch everything and I have zero desire
- 9:30to watch that.
- 9:40We don't.
- 9:40No one cares after maybe twenty five or
- 9:42thirty.
- 9:43See,
- 9:43I think that's where the verbiage is is
- 9:46different.
- 9:47There are people I care about.
- 9:51deeply that they've ranked beyond thirty.
- 9:55That I love their stories.
- 9:56That I love seeing them at events.
- 9:59That I love watching them on the floor.
- 10:02But I think to rank them is the
- 10:04silly part.
- 10:06Now,
- 10:08this is a world where you're trying to
- 10:09create content.
- 10:10You're trying to come up with
- 10:13conversations.
- 10:14And the two-hour interview they did
- 10:17together was
- 10:19created storylines they talked it was some
- 10:22of it was very very compelling and some
- 10:24of it was very interesting but to to
- 10:27have the rankings mean anything just just
- 10:32doesn't matter just doesn't matter um
- 10:37I already said that one.
- 10:39Sean,
- 10:39how many elite CrossFit athletes are even
- 10:41out there?
- 10:41Doesn't a hundred basically cover them
- 10:43all?
- 10:44You'd be surprised who they have in the
- 10:46top one hundred.
- 10:47They are names you know.
- 10:52But again,
- 10:53I just don't know what the difference
- 10:56between sixty and ninety is.
- 10:59Because ninety could beat sixty on any
- 11:01given day if the programming's right.
- 11:08Craig says a hundred would highlight
- 11:09developing and upcoming athletes to look
- 11:11out for her in the future.
- 11:13I think we should do that.
- 11:15I do Craig.
- 11:15I think we should highlight up and coming
- 11:17athletes.
- 11:18I just think a ranking is, is silly.
- 11:25It would only matter if we had regionals
- 11:26back.
- 11:28I think even if we had a semifinal
- 11:31that you had one shot and,
- 11:36or maybe two shots but this like where
- 11:38you can be at sixteen different semifinals
- 11:41takes a lot of the fifty beyond out
- 11:44of the mix um so uh Mark says
- 11:54I'm about fifty minutes in in the banter
- 11:56is interesting I suppose um
- 12:02Yeah, like I said,
- 12:03there was some good banter.
- 12:04There was some good discussion.
- 12:06I think what came out of it for
- 12:10me on the whole is...
- 12:13That John and Brian have very distinct
- 12:15differences in what they value as
- 12:19meaningful competition for these athletes
- 12:23and how they rank them is dependent on
- 12:27how they performed in what they deem to
- 12:30be important.
- 12:31And what they deem to be important is
- 12:33very different.
- 12:38So...
- 12:41Terry says,
- 12:41has this been posted on YouTube on
- 12:43Hiller's channel?
- 12:43I haven't seen it.
- 12:44It is on Hiller's channel.
- 12:48Here is the, they actually have,
- 12:52if you don't want to sit through the
- 12:53two hours,
- 12:54they actually have the rankings.
- 12:57They're right here.
- 12:59The barbell spin actually put it up.
- 13:03And he collaborated with Hiller
- 13:04apparently.
- 13:06But there are the rankings right there.
- 13:09One through a hundred.
- 13:14So if you just want to see what
- 13:15the rankings are, there they are.
- 13:19The other thing that became abundantly
- 13:21clear to me and is something that I
- 13:23mentioned in the show previously is that
- 13:28every one of us media members,
- 13:29because of the close-knitness of this
- 13:32community,
- 13:33have a relationship with a lot of these
- 13:36athletes.
- 13:38And because of those relationships,
- 13:40we have a bias.
- 13:43And that's where when I said,
- 13:45I don't root for Brookwell's, right?
- 13:48That was one example that I gave.
- 13:50Like the full context of that is in
- 13:53all of my travels,
- 13:55in all of my covering events,
- 13:57I've asked a lot of athletes for an
- 13:59interview.
- 14:00A lot of athletes.
- 14:02And Brooke Wells always denied me an
- 14:07interview every single time.
- 14:09And she has the right to do that.
- 14:11She's at a competition.
- 14:13I'm not there to take away from her
- 14:15performance.
- 14:16But because of that,
- 14:17I'm just never going to root for her.
- 14:19She never gave me the time of day.
- 14:21She gave other people the time of day,
- 14:23but she chose not me.
- 14:25And because of that,
- 14:26my bias is that I didn't want her
- 14:28to do well.
- 14:31On the other hand,
- 14:32someone like Ariel Lowen will just come up
- 14:34to me and stand beside me on the
- 14:36rail and have a conversation with me.
- 14:38I don't even have a mic in front
- 14:39of me.
- 14:40We just hang out and talk.
- 14:42Emily Rolfe will do that.
- 14:43Because of that,
- 14:45they are way higher in my rankings than
- 14:48other people because I have a great
- 14:50relationship with them and they always
- 14:53come and say hi and they always say
- 14:55yes when I ask for an interview.
- 14:57So I have a bias and I know,
- 15:00I know that Brian and John have biases
- 15:03as well because they've developed
- 15:05relationships with athletes.
- 15:08I see John on the spin all the
- 15:09time,
- 15:10text Allen or text Austin or text whoever,
- 15:14like he has a relationship with these
- 15:17people.
- 15:18And so in his head,
- 15:20he is going to root for them or
- 15:23that is going to taint his opinion of
- 15:26them in how they should be ranked.
- 15:33So all of these rankings have biases to
- 15:37them.
- 15:38And in this case,
- 15:39because of what happened in twenty twenty
- 15:41fourth,
- 15:41the CrossFit Games and WFP being created,
- 15:45the two of them have very,
- 15:46very different biases.
- 15:48And it became abundantly clear when they
- 15:50were talking how those biases affect
- 15:54affected these rankings.
- 16:00Frida, when it gets personal,
- 16:02it gets real.
- 16:03it's not even like Frida,
- 16:04it's not that I took it personally.
- 16:06It's just,
- 16:07it gives me a perspective in my head
- 16:09where I just don't want her to do
- 16:10well.
- 16:12Like,
- 16:13because I want to interview the people
- 16:15that do well.
- 16:17And if she's not doing well,
- 16:18I don't have to worry about it anymore.
- 16:19She's retired now.
- 16:20So she's a good example to use.
- 16:23Um,
- 16:28Terry says, thank you.
- 16:29I'm not that interested in Hiller's new
- 16:31two-hour stuff just too long.
- 16:33I love some of it, though.
- 16:34Terry, I got to tell you,
- 16:36I really like that he's doing the
- 16:39interviews in person.
- 16:42To me, that makes a huge, huge difference.
- 16:46A huge difference.
- 16:48And he's just recently starting this.
- 16:52I,
- 16:53that made the banter between John and
- 16:56Brian much better because they were
- 16:59sitting across the table from each other.
- 17:02It wasn't done on a zoom meeting.
- 17:04It wasn't done through stream yard.
- 17:07They were sitting at a table right across
- 17:09from each other face to face,
- 17:12and they were answering each other's
- 17:13questions and accusations.
- 17:16That's what made it better.
- 17:20Um,
- 17:21but I think he just needs like more
- 17:24content in that Avenue, uh,
- 17:26to make it swing a lot better,
- 17:29but it's really, really good.
- 17:31And it's really made it.
- 17:32So when I'm on the road this year,
- 17:34my goal is to sit down with athletes
- 17:38and record those interviews as opposed to
- 17:41like doing a stream yard version of it
- 17:44or quick hitters,
- 17:45like actually having a conversation and,
- 17:48um and recording those and banking those
- 17:51to play throughout the year um jody says
- 17:58brooke has no clue she's like a popular
- 18:00girl who won't acknowledge the peasants
- 18:03i'm sure there's a touch of that i'm
- 18:05sure of it um
- 18:08She's not the only one that has refused
- 18:10me interviews.
- 18:11I will say that.
- 18:13Just because she's retired,
- 18:15she's no longer in the game.
- 18:17It was just a safe example to use.
- 18:22For sure, they both have strong biases.
- 18:24Yes, Craig.
- 18:25And when you watch this ranking,
- 18:29they actually question each other and why
- 18:33they did things.
- 18:34And that's where it gets interesting.
- 18:36Not necessarily where they put people,
- 18:38but why they put them there.
- 18:47Love Gabby, but she missed a full year.
- 18:50Look how high they placed Gabby.
- 18:53I've been saying on this show,
- 18:54I think she needs another year to recover.
- 19:01Achilles injuries are no joke.
- 19:04And coming back from them takes time.
- 19:06And I think for her,
- 19:09it's going to take some time.
- 19:11Now, in a ranking show,
- 19:13you get to have that discussion, right?
- 19:15Why is she not ranked higher?
- 19:17Why is she ranked too high?
- 19:19Those are interesting.
- 19:21But when you're doing that at ninety and
- 19:23eighty seven,
- 19:24like the reasons for it are so slight.
- 19:32So there it is, right?
- 19:36Um,
- 19:37the Hiller pod was way better than what
- 19:38if I guy listen, that's,
- 19:42what's beautiful about this content space.
- 19:45There are tons and tons of options that
- 19:47we all can listen to, um,
- 19:50depending on what we're interested in that
- 19:52day.
- 19:53And, uh,
- 19:54and I love that we have those options.
- 19:56Right.
- 19:58So the other thing that blew me away
- 20:01is right off the top,
- 20:02Hiller used some of those clips that I
- 20:04just showed you at the beginning of his
- 20:07video.
- 20:08And he was asked about,
- 20:11should we go deeper into this ranking?
- 20:14And John actually said the words,
- 20:17I agree with the Clydesdale that we
- 20:19shouldn't go that far.
- 20:21And
- 20:23when John gets to say that he agrees
- 20:25with me, um,
- 20:28that makes me happy because John and I
- 20:30don't always agree.
- 20:32We agree sometimes,
- 20:33but when I hear that he's agreed with
- 20:35me on this take made me happy.
- 20:38Um,
- 20:40Cause I love poking fun at John.
- 20:42I love giving John, um, grief.
- 20:46Um,
- 20:46and I'm sure he loves poking it back,
- 20:48but, uh, it,
- 20:49it was just really entertaining for me
- 20:52when he gave me, uh,
- 20:54props at the beginning of, of the,
- 20:58the rankings or whatever.
- 21:06Um,
- 21:08I'm going to be in that camp after
- 21:09the shit you gave me on the lightweight
- 21:12open.
- 21:13Which camp?
- 21:15What are you referencing, Larry?
- 21:21Joseph says it's sixty percent
- 21:23performance, forty percent popularity.
- 21:26I don't think that it's that that weighted
- 21:29of a bias.
- 21:30I would say like eighty twenty seventy
- 21:33five twenty five somewhere in that range
- 21:36that I think the bias kicks in because
- 21:38I think a lot of us do watch
- 21:40the sport and we do try to.
- 21:43look at the performances and think where
- 21:45we think people are going to finish i
- 21:48don't think it's it's blind loyalty to
- 21:51somebody else but i do think that if
- 21:53it comes down to me picking between ariel
- 21:57lowen and brooke wells i'm gonna lean
- 21:59ariel lowen because she's that's just my
- 22:02bias right
- 22:11Jody,
- 22:12it's so weird it all started with you.
- 22:13I don't think it started with me.
- 22:15I think it started with Brian saying that
- 22:17on Hiller's show.
- 22:18And then I reacted to it.
- 22:20And just because of my reaction,
- 22:23it played well into what Hiller was trying
- 22:25to do.
- 22:33Rankings are seldom only performance.
- 22:36Oh, don't go, Larry.
- 22:38I wanted to get into some open talk
- 22:40with you.
- 22:43I just didn't understand what you were
- 22:45referencing in the previous comment.
- 22:54Maybe you have a bias against me because
- 22:56of what I said about the lightweight.
- 22:58I want to make this clear, Larry.
- 22:59I want to make this clear.
- 23:00Hopefully you're still here.
- 23:02I love a heavy open.
- 23:05I do way better in a heavy open.
- 23:08Me personally, I do much,
- 23:10much better in a heavy open.
- 23:12I would want what you want,
- 23:16but I don't think it's what's best for
- 23:18the overall community.
- 23:20Do I think they need to be more
- 23:21creative?
- 23:22Yes.
- 23:24I don't think it should be the same
- 23:25workout every year.
- 23:27But I do think there are levels to
- 23:30this thing,
- 23:31and the open needs to be accessible for
- 23:35a majority of the community to start.
- 23:38It doesn't mean it needs to be dumbed
- 23:40down and not creative.
- 23:42It just needs to be accessible.
- 23:49So...
- 23:51My heart agrees with you.
- 23:52I want heavy.
- 23:53I want a shot to lift some weight.
- 23:56I want to show that I'm strong.
- 23:58I haven't had that opportunity to do that.
- 24:06Joseph Ramirez says,
- 24:06That would just be hellish.
- 24:15Uh,
- 24:15the B that beep agent workout guests would
- 24:18be sweet.
- 24:19No way.
- 24:19Is Dave going to take a Hiller workout
- 24:22and make it the first workout of the
- 24:24open?
- 24:25No way in hell.
- 24:27No way.
- 24:34Uh, David Reed says double grace, please.
- 24:37That would be cool.
- 24:38That would be cool.
- 24:41Um, Freitas's prediction,
- 24:43seven minutes of burpees followed by max
- 24:44reps of snatch at Randy weight.
- 24:50That'd be awesome.
- 24:51I just,
- 24:53I hope it's a barbell and not a
- 24:56dumbbell.
- 24:57I think Larry does make a good point.
- 24:59If we go dumbbell snatch and burpees
- 25:02again, it that's, it's too repetitive.
- 25:07We need something different.
- 25:13Dave's latest video,
- 25:14we're getting a heavy deadlift.
- 25:17Deadlift is accessible for everybody.
- 25:22I don't think it's the greatest test of
- 25:23fitness.
- 25:24Depends on what it's paired with, I guess.
- 25:30But yeah, I saw the video today.
- 25:33He did the cap workout.
- 25:35It was a set of heavy deadlifts today.
- 25:38So...
- 25:44Joseph Ramirez.
- 25:45I'd be good with that.
- 25:48Train all the burpees over rower.
- 25:50I don't, I think if they do that,
- 25:54they have to bastardize it.
- 25:55And I don't,
- 25:57they have to allow the step over.
- 26:00And if they allow the step over,
- 26:01it just kind of bastardizes it.
- 26:05I mean, that's,
- 26:06that's a much more significant jump than
- 26:08over a bar.
- 26:11And for newbie athletes in their first
- 26:13year, is that something you want to do?
- 26:16I don't know.
- 26:25Um, bench in the judge's course.
- 26:28Some said I'd be thrilled.
- 26:30I'm taking the judge's course this
- 26:31weekend.
- 26:33Um, so we'll see.
- 26:34I heard it's in there.
- 26:35I've heard some other things.
- 26:40But the bench was in the team series.
- 26:43I don't see it making it into the
- 26:46open.
- 26:46I'd love that,
- 26:48but I don't see it happening.
- 26:56Kettlebell snatches would be different.
- 26:57I don't see them doing kettlebell snatches
- 26:59in the open.
- 27:03You have to learn how to punch the
- 27:06kettlebell at the top so it doesn't break
- 27:08your wrist.
- 27:12and I'm being a little facetious, but, um,
- 27:14but yeah,
- 27:15that punch at the top is so important
- 27:16on a kettlebell snatch.
- 27:18And if you haven't learned that, man,
- 27:19that gets painful.
- 27:24Uh, uh,
- 27:26train olive says maybe allow a step for
- 27:29all.
- 27:29See, I think that bastardizes it too much.
- 27:32Do we want to see a bunch of
- 27:33videos of people stepping over the rower?
- 27:37Um,
- 27:39I guess you could do jump over the
- 27:41rower for RX and step over for scaled.
- 27:47But again,
- 27:48it's just a much more significant jump
- 27:51than a bar, but we'll see.
- 27:55I know,
- 27:55I think Carolyn and Jamie both said that
- 27:57they think they would see it in it.
- 28:05So there we go.
- 28:08What about a seventeen point four redo?
- 28:10I don't remember seventeen four, Joseph.
- 28:12You'd have to tell me which one that
- 28:14is.
- 28:14I'm not great with the numbers.
- 28:17The only numbers I remember are the ones
- 28:18that I hated.
- 28:23Yeah, Corey,
- 28:23we have time if you want to jump
- 28:24in.
- 28:29Jody says, yeah,
- 28:30I don't do kettlebell snatch.
- 28:32I ain't going to the games and I
- 28:33need my wrists.
- 28:34Kettlebell snatch are one of my favorite
- 28:36moves in all of CrossFit.
- 28:38The feeling of that pop at the top
- 28:40when you get it down is so,
- 28:43so much fun.
- 28:44I do kettlebell snatches in my garage all
- 28:46the time.
- 28:48They are one of my favorites.
- 28:50Overhead squat, kettlebell snatches,
- 28:54love them to death.
- 28:57Would love to see it.
- 28:58I just don't think we will.
- 29:04Asking for trouble jumping over rowers.
- 29:06Yeah.
- 29:08I agree, Arlene.
- 29:09I agree.
- 29:13So it was the fifty-fives.
- 29:14Gotcha, Joseph.
- 29:15Fifty-fives was great.
- 29:17The thing about the fifty-fives is you
- 29:19think it's easier than it is.
- 29:21You're like, fifty-five deadlifts,
- 29:22no problem.
- 29:23Fifty-five wall balls, no problem.
- 29:25You get like ten reps into those wall
- 29:27balls and you're like, holy shit,
- 29:29I'm dying.
- 29:31That was a great one.
- 29:33Love the fifty-fives.
- 29:34And I think they did it twice.
- 29:38It was a repeat as well.
- 29:41That was a fun one.
- 29:50I didn't even get to the handstand
- 29:51push-ups on that one.
- 29:52What is up?
- 29:55What's up, dude?
- 29:57Sorry I'm late.
- 30:02You get everything taken care of?
- 30:04I did.
- 30:04I did.
- 30:05I did.
- 30:06I absolutely did.
- 30:07We actually got a hard copy and a
- 30:09digital copy of the police report,
- 30:11which is going to play really,
- 30:13really well as soon as Jennifer gets it
- 30:14back to that girl's or her parents'
- 30:17insurance company.
- 30:18Because it literally has her statement
- 30:20where she says she got over,
- 30:21decided to get over,
- 30:22did not see my wife and ran smack
- 30:24into her.
- 30:24So it's kind of the important part.
- 30:28So Hillary's in the house.
- 30:29Why do we need to go to a
- 30:30hundred?
- 30:30Why not, Patrick?
- 30:31Why not?
- 30:33because it gives him a two-hour podcast.
- 30:37I don't know if you saw it in
- 30:38the beginning, Hiller,
- 30:39but my point is the gap between the
- 30:42athletes from fifty to a hundred is so
- 30:45small, ranking them just seems silly.
- 30:50I like the stories.
- 30:52I actually like the discussion,
- 30:54but I think we could have had the
- 30:55discussion minus the ranking, maybe.
- 31:00I don't know.
- 31:01I listened to the whole thing.
- 31:02I actually enjoyed the banter,
- 31:05but the ranking was meaningless to me
- 31:08until we got down to the top thirty.
- 31:14I would say even the top fifty would
- 31:15make sense to have a discussion about
- 31:17because the twenty outside of the top
- 31:20thirty, the next twenty in line,
- 31:23are all fighting to get into that top
- 31:25thirty.
- 31:27I get that.
- 31:28I totally get that.
- 31:29But those twenty are so close.
- 31:32That's what I'm saying.
- 31:33Program dependent.
- 31:34Correct.
- 31:35Yeah, I would agree.
- 31:36Program dependent.
- 31:37Yep.
- 31:39So.
- 31:42So anyway, there we go.
- 31:45But I did enjoy it.
- 31:46I thought the banter back and forth was
- 31:48really good.
- 31:50And for John to say what two weeks
- 31:53ago, I'm never working with Brian Friend.
- 31:56Unless Taylor calls.
- 31:59And now he does a pod with him.
- 32:02I'm never working with Brian Friend unless
- 32:03Andrew calls.
- 32:04If Andrew calls, then I'll do it.
- 32:06I didn't hear the Andrew calls part last
- 32:08time.
- 32:08No, but that's implied at this point.
- 32:09Oh, gotcha.
- 32:10That's implied.
- 32:15Gotcha, gotcha.
- 32:17I haven't had to watch it.
- 32:18I saw a chance to watch it.
- 32:19I saw it popped up this morning,
- 32:20and I was doing three different things
- 32:23between listening to –
- 32:26um cj and claire and moving on to
- 32:30savann for a little bit and then just
- 32:31trying to get caught up with actually work
- 32:35fun stuff um uh jody says she's sorry
- 32:41about your wife's accident that's awful
- 32:43appreciate it uh jody she's fine by the
- 32:46way everybody uh car's not she is though
- 32:52Oh, um,
- 32:54Vicki wants to know if Hiller paid JY.
- 32:57I don't think Hiller paid JY.
- 32:58I think JY jumped at the chance.
- 33:02My guess, my guess, but anyway,
- 33:06he's got to prove that senior analyst
- 33:08status.
- 33:11Yeah, I think, uh, yeah,
- 33:15I think the ego of PR of proving
- 33:18that he is the senior analyst means more
- 33:21to him than the cash.
- 33:23Absolutely.
- 33:24But it may not mean more to him
- 33:27than the C-IV.
- 33:31I don't blame him.
- 33:31There's a twelve pack of it.
- 33:33Well,
- 33:33about half a twelve pack now sitting right
- 33:35over there next to my desk.
- 33:37So I've cut way back on the C-IV,
- 33:39like way, way, way back, right?
- 33:42because of the heart bib stuff, right?
- 33:46But I saw that Jolly Rancher flavor,
- 33:48and my mouth started watering watching him
- 33:52through that whole show.
- 33:53What kind of Pavlovian response is that?
- 33:58I got the Hawaiian punch right here next
- 34:01to my desk, and it is fantastic.
- 34:03Yeah.
- 34:11um actual work laughing my ass off i
- 34:14don't start working until after scott
- 34:16finishes i'm glad i have that effect um
- 34:24i need to try gorilla mind hearing good
- 34:27things it's pretty good they make it uh
- 34:29they have some good flavors the uh oh
- 34:33which one is it the black cherry vanilla
- 34:36is the best one i've tried so far
- 34:37mark get you some of that it's pretty
- 34:39darn it's pretty darn tasty
- 34:41Yeah.
- 34:43So, uh,
- 34:44I had something here on my list.
- 34:45I wanted to ask you,
- 34:46it started on the WOD prep podcast this
- 34:49morning and it's all about like,
- 34:53they were talking about periodization from
- 34:56the Hiller Mason startup video and their
- 34:58argument over what is varied, what is not,
- 35:03uh,
- 35:04but it got into running and how people
- 35:07hate running.
- 35:10When I started CrossFit,
- 35:12every workout I did,
- 35:13when it came to the run,
- 35:15I lost ground on everybody.
- 35:17Every single time, right?
- 35:20I cycle a barbell fast,
- 35:22get ahead of everybody, head out the door,
- 35:24and they all like blow by me on
- 35:26the run.
- 35:28So at some point in like,
- 35:30the only way I'm going to stop this
- 35:32is just start running like every single
- 35:35day.
- 35:38And so as much as I hated it,
- 35:40as much as I hated it,
- 35:42I started running every single day.
- 35:45I would, it would be,
- 35:46I would get to the gym early and
- 35:47I would just go out for,
- 35:48and it may only be an a hundred
- 35:50meter that day.
- 35:50That's all I had time for or whatever,
- 35:52but I was going to go run every
- 35:54single day on two days a week.
- 35:57I did like a couple of miles.
- 36:00Those were my long running days just to
- 36:02kind of get over the whole thing.
- 36:04And at one point,
- 36:06like a year into that,
- 36:09I got into it and I would get
- 36:10into workouts and the run became where I
- 36:14like caught my breath.
- 36:16Yeah.
- 36:17And then it was like, oh,
- 36:19I don't like, I don't hate this anymore.
- 36:21Like this is the part where I kind
- 36:23of get to catch my breath and I'm
- 36:25not losing so much ground.
- 36:28And in some cases I'm losing no ground.
- 36:32And I was like, okay,
- 36:33now I don't even hate it.
- 36:36Then I started hating other things.
- 36:38But with all that,
- 36:39then my burpees got better.
- 36:42Other things got better.
- 36:45And I think it was more,
- 36:46it was as much a mindset shift as
- 36:49it was the actual physical doing.
- 36:53I think the physical doing helped a ton.
- 36:56But I think the mindset shift was as
- 36:58much an asset to that as everything else.
- 37:03And as I'm going through these surgeries
- 37:05and starting to feel better,
- 37:06I feel that Scott coming back.
- 37:11Like, I want to embrace the suck.
- 37:13I want to get past the things I
- 37:15suck at,
- 37:16and I want to build that back.
- 37:19Do it anyway.
- 37:22Right.
- 37:24But it's more than just do it because
- 37:26you know you have to.
- 37:27It's about embracing it.
- 37:29that's what i that's what i was trying
- 37:30to get across is that um before i
- 37:33started crossfit i was doing a lot of
- 37:34running like half marathons five k's ten
- 37:38k's all that good i ran a whole
- 37:41bunch because that was my my marker for
- 37:44fitness i guess you could call it is
- 37:45i wanted to get a sub-twenty-one five k
- 37:48i wanted to run a sub-forty-five uh ten
- 37:51k and uh eventually like a sub hour
- 37:54and a half half marathon like that would
- 37:56those are those are my milestones
- 37:59um and i was just i was a
- 38:01decent runner and then more i got into
- 38:02crossfit the less i ran right and at
- 38:05one point it the whole thing flipped i
- 38:06went from being that guy who we had
- 38:09running in the workout i was all excited
- 38:10and people looking at me like i was
- 38:11retarded and it flipped to i don't i
- 38:17don't want to do this anymore and here
- 38:18just recently
- 38:20uh okay i need to get out and
- 38:22run i need to i need to why
- 38:24because it needs to get done and because
- 38:26i don't like it so i need to
- 38:28dive head first into it and i'm not
- 38:31i'm not saying i'm gonna like it at
- 38:33no point i'm gonna turn around and be
- 38:34like oh yeah this is fun again because
- 38:36it's not it's just not but embrace it
- 38:40because it's there it's not going away i
- 38:43am a terrible rower
- 38:46Brandon would say I'm not because I've
- 38:49been making some pretty decent progress,
- 38:51but I am not built for rowing.
- 38:53Anybody who's ever met me will understand
- 38:55just by looking at me for about ten
- 38:57seconds is that I am not built to
- 38:58row.
- 38:59I got stubby legs.
- 39:00I got stubby arms.
- 39:01I'm all torso, not built to row.
- 39:05But I row as if my life depends
- 39:08on it so that I can get better
- 39:10at it.
- 39:11Because the only way to get better at
- 39:13it is to actually do it.
- 39:15And what I've seen from like doing our,
- 39:18our,
- 39:18our two K program is that it affects
- 39:20everything else.
- 39:21Because now that I'm a better rower,
- 39:24I can bike better.
- 39:25I can run better.
- 39:26I've been running,
- 39:27which it's all transfers over.
- 39:30It all transfers over and you don't have
- 39:32to like it.
- 39:35You don't have to be that guy who's
- 39:37like, oh,
- 39:37I get to run a mile for time
- 39:39today.
- 39:41But you're going to have to do it
- 39:43anyway.
- 39:43Well,
- 39:44what it changes in your daily life too,
- 39:46not just in workouts,
- 39:49but just your daily life, like,
- 39:52running down your,
- 39:53your kid in the yard or running after,
- 39:57you know, Oh my gosh,
- 39:58I'm late for this and I need to
- 39:59run.
- 40:00Gosh,
- 40:00I remember a time like when I was
- 40:02doing all this,
- 40:03I was on a business trip and I
- 40:04wanted to work out at eighth day CrossFit.
- 40:07I was in grand Rapids, Michigan.
- 40:09Eighth day is always going to the games.
- 40:11I wanted to go to their gym,
- 40:13signed up for a class.
- 40:14My,
- 40:15my seminar went late and like I put
- 40:18on my shit and I ran and
- 40:20Like the four blocks to eighth day
- 40:22CrossFit to get there.
- 40:24And it was, it was like nothing.
- 40:26It was like my warmup for the workout.
- 40:30Wild how that works.
- 40:32Wild how that works.
- 40:33Your dog gets off the leash and he's
- 40:35one of those dogs that like,
- 40:36once he gets off,
- 40:37he's trying to get to freedom.
- 40:39Right.
- 40:39What are you going to do?
- 40:41He's not paying attention to you at that
- 40:42point.
- 40:42You're going to have to run and chase
- 40:43him down.
- 40:45The kid thing is like highly,
- 40:48highly motivated.
- 40:49Right.
- 40:50You run around,
- 40:51you want to be able to run with
- 40:52your kids, to chase your kids, to go.
- 40:54My daughter wants to run the bases after
- 40:56she gets done with softball practice some
- 40:59days.
- 40:59Guess who gets nominated for that?
- 41:01That would be me.
- 41:03We all do it.
- 41:04Jennifer does it.
- 41:06If Brody's there for her practice,
- 41:07for her games or whatnot,
- 41:08he'll run with her as well.
- 41:10But it's kind of a thing, right?
- 41:13It's a natural evolution from walking,
- 41:16which everybody does.
- 41:17So why wouldn't you run?
- 41:19Doesn't matter if you don't.
- 41:21Well,
- 41:21look at the real world application here.
- 41:24Ortega uses it to run away from ice.
- 41:27Everyday things.
- 41:29There it is.
- 41:30It's just part of life.
- 41:32It is just part of life.
- 41:34Sean in Oregon, don't love running,
- 41:36but Glassman said we need to try new
- 41:37sports.
- 41:38So I use CrossFit to train for trail
- 41:40running.
- 41:41Have two coming up in March and April.
- 41:44I run Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
- 41:48a ten K and a half marathon,
- 41:49which would be the longest distance I've
- 41:51ever run.
- 41:52Kudos to you.
- 41:53I've gone quarter marathon,
- 41:57never gone half.
- 41:59We, uh,
- 42:02Our head coach slash owner Cecil and his
- 42:04wife signed up for,
- 42:06this was years and years ago,
- 42:08but signed up for a half marathon and
- 42:11just showed up on race day and ran
- 42:14it because they do CrossFit five or six
- 42:16days a week.
- 42:17Some of that involves running.
- 42:20And it's a more mental thing at that
- 42:21point is just to keep going.
- 42:24Keep putting one foot in front of the
- 42:25other.
- 42:26It doesn't matter if you're going in,
- 42:27you know, that's an old runner nonsense.
- 42:30It doesn't matter if you're running a
- 42:31fifteen minute mile or a four minute mile.
- 42:33Like you're still running if you're out
- 42:35there.
- 42:36We just keep keep on plodding along.
- 42:40And this isn't just running.
- 42:41It's whatever you need to get better at.
- 42:43That's what you do.
- 42:44You embrace.
- 42:45Right.
- 42:45Yeah.
- 42:45It's not just for me.
- 42:47It's running.
- 42:48For someone else,
- 42:49it might be pull-up stamina.
- 42:51It may be barbell cycling.
- 42:53It may be whatever.
- 42:57Frida says,
- 42:57I might be biased with running.
- 42:59Most of the time during the winter,
- 43:00I got to choose between hamster wheel and
- 43:02skidding on ice.
- 43:04Well, I hate running on ice.
- 43:07And actually, running on ice hurts me.
- 43:09It makes my stride so short that I
- 43:13ache in places I didn't know I could
- 43:15ache.
- 43:16And so I would choose hamster wheel over
- 43:21ice running any day of the week.
- 43:24Lucky for me.
- 43:26Yeah.
- 43:26In a climate that that's not,
- 43:29it's eight degrees outside right now.
- 43:32As you guys are shaming me into adding
- 43:34more runs in.
- 43:35Thanks a lot.
- 43:36You are welcome.
- 43:38As a, uh, no extra charge.
- 43:43So you're telling me there's a chance.
- 43:53Yeah!
- 43:53Like him or not,
- 43:54Nick Bear's ability to run a sub-two-forty
- 43:56marathon at his size is impressive.
- 44:02Ugh,
- 44:02you have convinced me I need to run.
- 44:05There we go.
- 44:07Just go and... Where is my super suit?
- 44:08Beautiful thing.
- 44:18Yeah, both of those are legitimate.
- 44:20Why would you run a nice birch?
- 44:22Why?
- 44:22My question is how?
- 44:25I signed up for a five K on
- 44:26New Year's Day.
- 44:27My birthday is New Year's Day.
- 44:29This was a couple of years ago and
- 44:31we got a snowstorm the night before.
- 44:33There was literally a tractor with a plow
- 44:38making a trail for us on the run.
- 44:43I had to go short and choppy strides
- 44:46to get through that five K and I
- 44:48ached for a week.
- 44:50There's an old video, um,
- 44:53old clip from a,
- 44:54some like man on the street reporting with
- 44:56two people out there running like an in
- 44:58and running clues.
- 44:59And they got the little reflective stuff
- 45:01on and ask him about running when it's
- 45:03cold and snowy outside.
- 45:05And the girl's like, no, it's fine.
- 45:06We do it all the time, whatever.
- 45:08And she turns around and the camera
- 45:09follows her and she takes six steps and
- 45:11falls.
- 45:11Um,
- 45:15It's fantastic.
- 45:16Be free to short strides and hope for
- 45:17the best.
- 45:21I don't run outside if it's too cold,
- 45:23period.
- 45:24Like if it's cold and breezy, nope.
- 45:27You know what we call it in Ohio?
- 45:30Wolfs.
- 45:31Yeah, just call me whatever you want.
- 45:33That's fine.
- 45:36I'll take it, dude.
- 45:37I am not from somewhere –
- 45:40just cold is one thing if it's twenty
- 45:42seven degrees outside but there's not
- 45:44there's not much wind to speak of I
- 45:46will get layered up and I will go
- 45:47run but if it's breezy nah bro I'll
- 45:53be all right I'll find I'll do I'll
- 45:54do I'll do a thousand burpees per time
- 45:56before I do that and I'm not exaggerating
- 45:59um
- 46:04Yeah.
- 46:05On another subject,
- 46:06let's move on from running.
- 46:08CrossFit Oslo announced their finalized
- 46:11roster.
- 46:12They are the defending CrossFit Games
- 46:14champions.
- 46:16Kristen Holta is back.
- 46:19Thought she was just filling in last year
- 46:21as a last-minute replacement.
- 46:23Looks like she had so much fun,
- 46:25she decided to do it again.
- 46:27I mean, winning is fun, Scott.
- 46:28Yeah.
- 46:31She's going with Tola Morakunio and BKG
- 46:36going team.
- 46:38It's the time, right?
- 46:39It's time for BKG to go team.
- 46:42What I just find odd is that he
- 46:45owns Reykjavik and now he is competing
- 46:48with Oslo.
- 46:51That's a hell of a team.
- 46:54It is.
- 46:55It's just like we talked all last week
- 46:59about
- 47:00To make CrossFit great again,
- 47:01we needed a regional type competition.
- 47:04And we needed the teams to be like
- 47:06affiliate based.
- 47:09This is so counter that,
- 47:11that it just is...
- 47:16I don't want to say icky.
- 47:17It's just not my ideal of what I
- 47:19want CrossFit to be.
- 47:21You're trying to say BKG is not from
- 47:23Norway?
- 47:24Well, he's Icelandic.
- 47:26He just is.
- 47:27He's not even from the country.
- 47:29And that's fine.
- 47:30The rules are what they are right now,
- 47:32and they can do that.
- 47:34I just think I like the regionalized...
- 47:40with more affiliate-based stuff.
- 47:42I think that's how you get affiliates more
- 47:44involved.
- 47:44I think that's how you grow everything.
- 47:47I would agree.
- 47:49And while this is a great team and
- 47:53they have a great shot at winning again,
- 47:57it's not what I want.
- 48:01Will I still enjoy them at the games?
- 48:03Probably.
- 48:04I was about to say,
- 48:04it's still going to be fun to watch
- 48:05because that is a hell of a team.
- 48:09It is.
- 48:10It is.
- 48:11Like you added BKG because, you know.
- 48:14You could.
- 48:15You could.
- 48:16Yeah.
- 48:19Yeah.
- 48:19It's pretty awesome.
- 48:22It's pretty awesome.
- 48:23I would like to see, speaking of that,
- 48:26because I would think it's a possibility
- 48:28in all Australian super team would be
- 48:31pretty easy to do.
- 48:35Because they almost had that – they had
- 48:37like one odd man out when Kara Saunders
- 48:41went.
- 48:41Was that two years ago?
- 48:43It was Kara and – That was a
- 48:47Mayhem team though, right?
- 48:49It was,
- 48:50but they were all – they were like
- 48:51Mayhem Australia or whatever.
- 48:54It wasn't by any stretch of the
- 48:55imagination that the main Mayhem team.
- 48:59Yeah.
- 48:59They beat the Noah Chandler team.
- 49:03Yep.
- 49:04um yeah i why can't i remember who
- 49:07it all was but i know what you're
- 49:08talking about yeah emily de roy cara
- 49:14goodness is it royce or no probably that
- 49:20wouldn't that wouldn't surprise me and
- 49:21then um what is the man's name anyway
- 49:28that was a fun team to watch
- 49:29Yeah,
- 49:30that's why we're the best in the business,
- 49:31man.
- 49:31That's why you can't get analyst.
- 49:34You can't get Brian friend.
- 49:36Yeah, you can't get it.
- 49:37You can't get stuff like this anywhere
- 49:39else.
- 49:39This is only here.
- 49:41You know that team with the people doing
- 49:43it.
- 49:43They had faces.
- 49:44They had pretty fit, visible abs,
- 49:46you know, hair.
- 49:48Most of them.
- 49:49Yeah, probably.
- 49:51Yeah, that team.
- 49:51Exactly.
- 49:54All right.
- 49:54We have we have numbers from yesterday.
- 49:58And then I'll see if we have numbers
- 49:59from today as I'm doing this.
- 50:02Helping put these out yesterday at twelve
- 50:05thirty three hundred thirty three thousand
- 50:08three hundred and sixty six.
- 50:11People signed up for the open.
- 50:15And then I'll see if anything updated is
- 50:18usually does it while we're in the show.
- 50:21Got it.
- 50:23And no.
- 50:26You can add one more to it because
- 50:27my son's going to get signed up at
- 50:30some point probably today or this weekend
- 50:32because he was asking me about it last
- 50:34night after class.
- 50:35Vicky knows we're the best stats guys,
- 50:37Scott and the Cowboy.
- 50:39Honestly.
- 50:40And when you want hard facts,
- 50:43we are your men.
- 50:44Yeah.
- 50:46It's synonymous.
- 50:47Our name is synonymous.
- 50:52Yeah!
- 50:56How many did we have last year?
- 50:57That's what I really want to know.
- 51:01How many what?
- 51:02How many did we have last year?
- 51:05You cut out on me a second time.
- 51:08How many sign-ups did we get last year?
- 51:11It was only a hundred and some thousand.
- 51:12We're almost there.
- 51:15Okay.
- 51:16Let me see if he has that still.
- 51:19So at this point last year,
- 51:21we were at one hundred and four thousand.
- 51:24Twenty point one percent increase over
- 51:27last year.
- 51:31The overall number,
- 51:32I don't know if you put it in
- 51:34here or not.
- 51:36Yeah, he didn't put it in.
- 51:40But I want to say it was under
- 51:41two hundred thousand was the total for
- 51:43last year.
- 51:46And a lot of people wait till last
- 51:48minute.
- 51:51A lot of people are like,
- 51:52I'm going to sign up.
- 51:52When?
- 51:53When the workout comes out,
- 51:54when the first one comes out.
- 51:57This is the way people are, man.
- 51:59I would never understand that.
- 52:00We have one week to go.
- 52:02Within the hour that registration went up,
- 52:06I'd signed up.
- 52:09Yeah.
- 52:11Because here's the thing.
- 52:12I'll forget.
- 52:14If I don't do it, I'll be like,
- 52:16I've been meaning to take the judge's
- 52:17course for three weeks now.
- 52:18I still have yet to do it.
- 52:21Yeah, I've got mine purchased.
- 52:22I just have to do it this weekend.
- 52:26Because I got judge at my gym every
- 52:27single year.
- 52:30Claire jumps in late.
- 52:33She missed our whole conversation about
- 52:35what she did to inspire me to have
- 52:36a conversation about running.
- 52:38Yeah.
- 52:42But she runs a mile every single day,
- 52:44which I find super inspiring and really...
- 52:51Yeah, to do that no matter what weather,
- 52:53what is at you, where you're traveling to,
- 52:55where you're traveling from.
- 52:59And I liked how she explained it this
- 53:00morning that it just makes her day better.
- 53:03And when I was doing the running five
- 53:05days a week,
- 53:06it really set up the rest of my
- 53:09day, week, whatever.
- 53:10Yeah, absolutely.
- 53:12And I mean, look, even if you run,
- 53:15if you average a twelve minute mile,
- 53:18it's twelve minutes out of your entire
- 53:20day.
- 53:21Yeah.
- 53:22Now I'm,
- 53:23this is somebody saying that that does not
- 53:25run a mile a day,
- 53:26but if I were to set that upon
- 53:29myself, it's not gonna take that long.
- 53:32It's even if I run super slow,
- 53:34that is ten minutes from our gym,
- 53:38from the gym door, stop sign,
- 53:40stop sign back to gym door is one
- 53:42mile, ten minutes, boom, done.
- 53:45It's already in you accomplish something
- 53:46for the day.
- 53:47Hey, if you did nothing else,
- 53:48you ran a mile today.
- 53:51Yeah.
- 53:53A good owner, dude.
- 53:54Good owner.
- 53:55I am not that.
- 53:58So, you know, you know,
- 53:59what's great is we have a chat that
- 54:01knows more stats than we do.
- 54:04Yeah.
- 54:04And that's why we have Joseph who can
- 54:06go find us the stats.
- 54:08Two thousand twenty five at two hundred
- 54:10and thirty three thousand eight hundred
- 54:11and fifteen signups down from three
- 54:14hundred and forty three thousand four
- 54:15hundred ninety six and twenty twenty four.
- 54:18I think the realistic goal that everybody
- 54:20is looking at is.
- 54:21Right.
- 54:25Um, is where we are trending right now.
- 54:31Um,
- 54:32and I think that's the most realistic
- 54:34that's coming out of COVID that was
- 54:36recovering from a,
- 54:38from Greg selling the company from the
- 54:40COVID thing,
- 54:42all of that recovering from that.
- 54:43And we started to build,
- 54:45then we had the death at the games
- 54:47and then it tanked again.
- 54:48And now we're on that uphill swing again.
- 54:52We just need to have a clean couple
- 54:54years to see where this truly can go.
- 54:58hundred percent we have a couple years
- 55:00where nothing crazy happens and like it's
- 55:05just steady on growth the positivity
- 55:08that's building it just needs to keep
- 55:10rolling and keep rolling keep rolling i'm
- 55:12gonna tell you this dude my gym in
- 55:15particular we have had we had two more
- 55:19people sign up for memberships just last
- 55:22week
- 55:24They did an on-ramp actually earlier this
- 55:26week and been in big church since then.
- 55:31And on top of the other one, two,
- 55:33three, four,
- 55:34probably ten or twelve people that signed
- 55:37up since the first of the year and
- 55:39have been coming.
- 55:40Like not just I signed a membership and
- 55:42then, you know,
- 55:43I'm paying you all this money and like
- 55:45they are actually attending class.
- 55:47That's a good sign for me to say
- 55:49that people are still looking at it.
- 55:51We got CrossFit on the sign.
- 55:52Can't miss it.
- 55:53Like I want to go do that.
- 55:57Everyone in this chat better have signed
- 55:58up, says Vicky.
- 56:01Do you know who else is doing some
- 56:04positive things and moving in the right
- 56:06direction?
- 56:07Thirdsy.
- 56:09You know when you do that run and
- 56:10you need to get a good night's sleep
- 56:12and you need to recover?
- 56:14Thirdsy.
- 56:15They are a great partner for us.
- 56:17They are a great supporter of this
- 56:18channel.
- 56:19Go to thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy.

- 56:38before the open.
- 56:40You are.
- 56:41What better way to do it
- 56:43than with some Thirteen.
- 56:45I can't think of a better word.
- 56:47It doesn't have that melatonin hangover.
- 56:49It doesn't have any of the crap in
- 56:51it.

- 57:16um if you do this at check out
- 57:18yeah if you uh uh had four hundred
- 57:24and fifteen thousand participants did it
- 57:30though i that doesn't i thought twenty
- 57:33eighteen with three hundred something was
- 57:35like peak uh
- 57:45So,
- 57:46Vicky was asking Claire to go live with
- 57:48her run so people could run with her.
- 57:51Claire's response is that she snags the
- 57:53mile at most random times based on the
- 57:55day's schedule.
- 57:56That would be tough to coordinate with any
- 57:58consistency,
- 57:59but it would be fun to play something
- 58:01IRL at events when possible in real life.
- 58:05Getting good.
- 58:06Oh, you're learning.
- 58:07Good man.
- 58:08Getting better.
- 58:10Yeah.
- 58:11After my daughter moved out, man,
- 58:13trying to keep up with all the, uh,
- 58:15it's a lot.
- 58:16Yeah.
- 58:18So yeah, it's going to be fun.
- 58:23Well, I think that's it for today.
- 58:26We've got USA going hockey semifinal
- 58:30today.
- 58:30Um, I will not be here on Monday.
- 58:36I'll be here Sunday night, no show Monday,
- 58:39lung biopsy to hopefully be the last piece
- 58:43of the puzzle to get me back to
- 58:46fully Scott again.
- 58:48Let's go.
- 58:49Um,
- 58:51So hopefully, hopefully that all,
- 58:53it turns out to be good on Monday.
- 58:56I'll probably get the results later in the
- 58:58week.
- 58:58So we'll update you as to whether I
- 59:00can be on for lunch at that point.
- 59:03But I don't have the follow-up scheduled
- 59:04yet to know.
- 59:07But yeah,
- 59:07I have that first thing in the morning
- 59:08Monday.
- 59:10And then they're putting me under for this
- 59:14biopsy.
- 59:15So I'll be all like sleepy all day
- 59:19Monday.
- 59:19And then we'll be back Tuesday.
- 59:22fresh and better than ever oh yeah uh
- 59:25thank you very much vicky for that i
- 59:27feel the nose surgery was a tremendous
- 59:30success so so much better i know i've
- 59:35told you this before and other people have
- 59:36too but the difference in quality of your
