Transcript
- 0:01SPEAKER_01: If you felt lonely, isolated, disconnected, with an empty feeling inside and just yearning for more, knowing something is missing, then this podcast is for you.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: So here's your host, Joe Minigal.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to We.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Have you ever looked at your life and thought, why am I doing this again?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Why am I having the same reaction?
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Why am I feeling the same anger?
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Why am I experiencing the same sadness?
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Why do I keep ending up in the same emotional place?
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Even though I thought I'd already healed this part of myself.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: If you've ever been there, I know exactly what you're feeling.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: And for me, honestly, make me feel both sad and really mad.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Sad because I say to myself, you know what, I've grown so much.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Why am I reacting the same way?
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Mad because there are still moments when old emotional patterns show up, and before I even realize what's happening, I find myself responding like the person I used to be.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: For much of my life, I thought the people around me were causing my emotions.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: If someone hurt me, they made me angry.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: If someone rejected me, they made me feel unworthy.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: If life didn't happen the way I wanted it to happen, life was doing something to me.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: And without realizing it, I was living in a place of powerlessness.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: I kept looking outside myself for the cause of what I was feeling inside.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: But emotional healing began teaching me something very different.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: The people and the circumstances in my life weren't always creating what I was feeling.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Sometimes they were simply revealing what I was already living inside of me.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Old wounds, old fears, old beliefs, old expectations, old emotional patterns that I'd carried with me, quite honestly, for years.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And once I began to understand that, something started changing.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Instead of asking myself, why is this happening to me?
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: I began asking, what is this trying to show me about me?
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: What is the circumstance trying to teach me?
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: That question, quite honestly, folks, changed my life.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Because I began to realize that maybe my emotional patterns weren't showing up to punish me.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Maybe they were showing up so I could finally see them, heal them, release them, and become someone different.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Today, when one of those old patterns returns, I'm learning that I have a choice.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: I can return to fear.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: I certainly know how to blame the world.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: I can try to control everyone and everything around me.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: And of course, I can live in powerlessness.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Or I can surrender.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: I can trust.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: I can turn towards my higher power and ask, who are you helping me become through this experience?
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: For me, that's where faith begins.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Faith doesn't mean that I never feel sad.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Faith doesn't mean I never get mad.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: Faith doesn't mean that old emotional patterns never return.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Faith means that those emotions no longer have to determine who I become next.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Because maybe freedom isn't reaching a place where nothing ever triggers me again.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Maybe freedom isn't reaching a place where the trigger no longer controls me, where fear no longer controls me, where my past no longer controls me, and where where I no longer need the world around me to change before I can experience peace within me.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: That's the journey I'm on today, folks, and that's what we're going to talk about today in this episode.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: How we go from powerlessness to faith, from separation to oneness, from reacting to the world around me to becoming aware of the world within me.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: And maybe that's the part of us we're all here to discover in the first place that underneath all of our fear, our pain, anger, sadness, differences, and emotional patterns, we were actually never as separate as we truly thought we were.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: My name is Joe Mittigah, and this is we.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Welcome everybody.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: It's a great night here in Atlanta, Georgia.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Super excited to be with everybody.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: And you know, I've had a really interesting week.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: I've gone through the plethora of emotions from super excited about things to, you know, being tweaked a little bit on some different topics, which I'm going to share with everybody here today what those are about.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: And, you know, this topic here is a really good one because so very often we tend to repeat our life, and then we come up with all sorts of belief systems and reasons and all of the, I don't know, old spiritual delusions of karma and I deserve it, and all that kind of stuff.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna sort through some of that today and share some how-to's on how to change, to truly change your external world and to literally stop the behaviors that cause your external world to repeat itself.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna talk about that today.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: We're gonna talk about what we do about it, and we're gonna talk about the true solution on why it's happening and what happened to us to cause it to happen.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: And I'm talking about those experiences where, you know, you really think that you outgrew a behavior or a person or a personality or an action or a belief, and then you find yourself right back in the middle of it.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna talk about what we do about that.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: You know, the Wii podcast is something that I have a real passion for.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: It's my way to give back.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I've been sober now over 30 some odd years.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: And my kids ask me all the time, they're like, Dad, what the heck?
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Who the heck would want to listen to you, Dad?
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, you know what?
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: I don't know, but I just know there's a bunch of people out there just like me.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: And I just happen to be on a path for a really long time, the same spiritual path each of you are on.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: I mean, the whole concept of spiritual growth and a spiritual path and feeling more spiritual than religious, and none of it is a right or wrong.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: You know, when I do the comparison sentence, more spiritual than religious, quite honestly, there are billions of people that say, absolutely not.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: I am without question more religious than spiritual.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: And I honor you.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: I honor all people, quite honestly.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: I do the best I can with that.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: Am I perfect at it?
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: No, I'm not perfect at anything, but I will admit my mistakes.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: I will.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: I pursue to bring happiness and joy to people in my world, and I do it through the honoring of the depths of self and the communion with a power greater than myself, and that's the we.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: So, welcome everybody.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: You know, the we podcast is continuing to explode around the globe, ranked 36th in the global podcast rankings at Apple and now on Spotify.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: You know, we're in the trending charts.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: And I always want to bring that up because I want to thank all of you, because it's everybody who's listening that's causing it to happen.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: You know, literally, we are all kindred spirits.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: You would not be able to make it and listen and come back to a podcast like the We Podcast if you weren't on a spiritual journey, if you weren't the true spiritual warrior.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: And I say that because we are.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Humanity's waking up.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Is it waking up for everybody?
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Is it waking up for millions?
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Yes, it is.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: And that awakening process, do I know why?
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: No.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Do I know what caused it?
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: No.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: I just know that human transformation of consciousness is a real life thing.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: And we're in an era of time where it's happening faster than ever.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: Literally, people are waking up on a Monday morning and have no idea they can hear their thoughts.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: And by Tuesday and then Wednesday and then Thursday, they're like in a totally confused place because of hearing these voices that they didn't even know were in them.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: It's called conscious awakening, conscious thought.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: Now, for a lot of people on this path, your first conscious thoughts were decades ago.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: Mine were back in the late 80s.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: My first awareness of the inner child, which this particular podcast is going to be a lot about the inner sense of self, because that's the reason we get back into the same external patterns, is because our voices in our head are causing us to choose action steps that repeat the external.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: And we're going to talk about that.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: We're going to talk about where it started, how it started, why it started, the voices in our head, the crazy voices, and where the hurt comes from.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: And what do we do about it?
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: Because the whole key to spiritual growth is emotional growth.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: You know, I moved from a place of a mindset of a me to the consciousness of a we, not by pursuit.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: I was not pursuing a God of an understanding.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: I just wasn't.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: I didn't care.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: All I wanted to do was stop hurting.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: And that's where I share all the time.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: I don't really teach anything new here.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: I help and I mirror back the remembering process of your spiritual sense of self.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Folks, we are spiritual beings having human experiences.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: And it's a humanity experience.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: And that's why I always say, and I always like to acknowledge the different countries around the world that are listening in the areas around the world: United Kingdom and Norway, Malaysia, South Korea, Germany, Canada, of course, China, Taiwan, Oman.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: The list goes on and on.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: And I honor all of you and I thank all of you for being here.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: I really, really do.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: Because the more we wake up together, the more we literally have the availability to make a difference in the world.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: And that's why I call us the generation of change.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: I really do.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: I say all the time the whole concept of the generation of change is truly available to us because consciously the awakened people out there in the world, the people that are seeking their next thing because they're at a different place in their life, are the people that give back.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: And it's through the giving back of enough of us that we help heal the rest of humanity.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Truly.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: My goal is to bring enough awareness to the water crisis on the planet that 10 years, 20 years, every living human being on the planet has running water in their home.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Now, for people here where I live, everywhere I live, here in Atlanta, Georgia, people have water.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: And their hoses, in their bathtubs, and they're out of coming out of the refrigerators.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: But that's not the way it is in a lot of countries.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: I learned all that a couple years ago when I was in South Africa.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: 400 million people in the continent of Africa do not have running water.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: I didn't know.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Well, my whole nonprofit, Project Smile, is about, I have two caregivers I give to, I support.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: And actually, one of them, I got a wealthy gentleman out of Dubai to build that community a well and a school.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: And together we can do more and more things like that.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: You can be somebody like Matt Damon, who started water.org, and I heard somewhere out there they've raised$100 million.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: Fabulous, Mr.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: Damon.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: I applaud you, sir, and others like him.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: They have massive exposure and tremendous wealth and character to give back, and it's wonderful.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: And for the person who has a passion to go visit hospitals and get a little dog and take him there and give away things, that's a giving back that is equally as important.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: How many people can raise$100 million?
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: Not near as many.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: How many people can do the small acts of kindness, the small acts of giving back on a daily basis?
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Hundreds of millions.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: And as hundreds of millions do that, that means hundreds of millions of people are feeling and receiving that.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: And that's the goal of the We Podcast: 100 million downloads a month.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: And I say that because I believe if through the We podcast and through the technology of today, I can help people remember they are a we, moving out of the consciousness mindset of a me, the isolated humanity, human, to the conscious expansion perspective of a we, human self, higher self, inner self.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: The more people understand that, the more people are going to become consciously aware that you have an internal, infinite guidance system called your divinity, my words, you can call your guidance system whatever you want, that will guide you to grandness.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: And what is your grandness looks like external?
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: What is it experience and feel like internal?
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: It's called oneness.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: It truly is.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: We're going to talk a lot more about that later on in this podcast.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: You know, throughout this past week, a couple episodes, I think I was sharing everybody.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: If you're new here, welcome.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: I'll tell a little bit about myself.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: I like to do that every podcast because we have so many new people.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: But in one of my past podcasts, I was sharing how I somehow crossed the boundary of a colleague and they got upset with me.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: They did.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: And for that first week, I had the voice just like everybody else.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: What the heck's wrong with her?
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: I didn't do anything wrong.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Why is she mad?
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: I did nothing.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: What's wrong?
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: All of that, which we have it.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: And living from a place of overflow, living from a place of a grander you, if you cause somebody harm, whether you're aware of it or not, whether you think you did or not, whether you actually were the source of it or not, has nothing to do with it.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: It has everything to do if another person believes you caused them harm, then you did.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: And how do what do we do about it?
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: Well, we make amends, and I did.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: A week later, how did I get there?
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: I wrote down all my big ass voices that were not happy and wanted to be right and I didn't want to be wrong, and you know, all the normal human voices, and I made amends.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Week later, didn't hear anything.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: No reply.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: Was I expecting a reply?
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: No.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: Was I kind of in my heart hoping I'd get a reply?
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: You know, I don't like it that somebody's out there that's upset because I did something.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: I don't like it.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: It doesn't feel good.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Well, have I gotten a reply yet in a couple weeks?
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: No.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Does it hurt?
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it does.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: It does.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: It hurts.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Is that hurt a bad thing?
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: No, it's called being human.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: And that's the other thing I want people to understand.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: Your humanity is going to have emotion.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Mad, glad, sad, and scared.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: You're going to.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: And as you pursue a oneness, a grandness, a grander you, it does not mean that you are devoid of emotion.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: In fact, the emotions can even be more intense.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: When my dog Zeus passed away, when I had to put him asleep, the emotional consequence of that loss was intense.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: And it's all part of being human.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: And that's why I say all the time, I kind of push against some human norms, so the conscious norms and the delusional ridiculousness that the more one with God you get, that everything is airy-fairy and lovey dovey, and it's not.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: We are still human.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: We're still here living a human experience.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: Now, of course, I will caveat if you're walking on water like the guy did 2,000 years ago, you're probably far beyond me, that's for sure.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: You might have less emotion, but for the rest of us, there's going to be emotion.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: And it's the honoring of that emotion that allows us to stay human while we're having a spiritual experience collectively.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: It's all the above.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I say it different things that, and I say it because I want the Wii podcast to be a place where I validate and honor all of us the mental side, the physical side, the emotional side, and the spiritual side.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: And when I talk about the affirmations and affirmations don't heal anything, they don't.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: Because an affirmation is the pursuit of changing the mind of the voice in your head.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: Now I applaud the people because they can hear those crazy voices.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: But the delusion that talking to the voice in your head changes it, it's a falsehood.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: And how do I know?
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Because if it worked, you do it once, then it'd be gone.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: Well, you can't do it once.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: You have to keep going back and you have to keep trying.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Does it mean it's not a wonderful thing?
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: No, it's a beautiful thing.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Does it help in the moment?
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Yes, it does.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: But the We Podcast isn't about helping in the moment.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: The We podcast is about healing the reasons, the how to heal.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: That's why we're an emotional growth healing podcast.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: And every crazy voice you have in your head has a source in your heart called a wounded little kid.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: We're going to talk more about that today.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: And I can, you know, on my podcast, people rate the podcast, right?
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: And I get all sorts of five stars and I applaud them all.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: But you know what?
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: I am not accustomed to having a random stranger write something that isn't nice and it isn't loving.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: So here, and my kids look on the they poke fun at me unmercifully.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: They do, which is all in good fun.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: Well, I got a review here lately, and the headline is Z, Z Z Z, like snoring, right?
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: And basically, this reply was, yeah, if you want a boring self-help heard it all before podcast, listen to this guy.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: He's it's grandpa's stories.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: At first I kind of chuckled, and then I felt the tweak, like, doesn't feel good.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: Now, I'm not dishonoring this human.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: I believe you.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: And I'm, you know, if you heard it was going on in my head, and I love that people are willing to share.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: And yeah, it kind of tweaks, it does.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: And I have to tell you, the 75 or 76 five stars, that feels good also.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: Because if you've given the We podcast a five star, that means that's people's way of sharing back with me that somehow, somehow, my voice has helped.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: And that's all I want.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: That's why I'm here.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: People ask me all the time, don't you make money on the podcast?
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: I'm like, no, I'm not here to make money on the podcast.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: I'm here to help people feel better.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: I'm here to help people to keep you company in your darker times, to celebrate you in your higher times, to be with you every day, to share things you might not hear other places.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: Because most of you listening, you might have a small community of people that are as consciously awake as you are, but most of you don't.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: Literally, you don't.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: And it's not a bad thing.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: That's why I call you a spiritual warrior, a spiritual leader.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: And how do you lead?
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: You lead by the living of your true self, the living of your oneness.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Well, how do we get there?
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: Through the emotional healing of your inner self.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: That's that.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: And why do I know that so profoundly?
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: It's because that's how I remembered.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: I wasn't pursuing a God thing.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: I say it all the time.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: I considered myself an F you God guy, way back when.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: And I said that.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: There's no way there could be a God and me being so much pain.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: For new people here, there was a period of time in the when I first got sober.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: I was struck sober, February 20th, 1994.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: Raised my hands after drinking and drugging my entire life.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: I was right before my 31st birthday.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Raised my hands and said, after a week, God, if I'm not supposed to drink and drug, I need your help.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: I feel a rush of energy through my body, literally a physical feeling of energy and a tear out of my left eye, and my compulsions were gone, removed completely, never came back.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: 53 days later, they came back briefly trying to buffer memories of being severely abused.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: April 16th is my sobriety day.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: For the following seven years, I lived on less than$3,000 a year,$250 a month.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: And why was that?
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: I went into a sacred solitude, a sacred silence, which was solitude, silence and isolation, literally.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: And this is, of course, before cell phones and internet and beepers and all that to heal.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: I just knew I needed to heal.
- 23:09SPEAKER_00: Coming out of the other side, I started to feel better and I started remembering a conscious perspective of a power greater than myself.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: Over the years, I realized and I learned that all of us have two sides, a male side of self and a female side of self.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: And those sides of self are they're not gender specific.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: Women have a male side and a female side.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: A man has a female side and a male side.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: We both have both sides.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: It's more from a perspective of energetic description of a human being: mental, physical, emotional, spiritual.
- 23:49SPEAKER_00: Well, the mental, physical is the mind and the physical body.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: And that part of self has dominated humanity for millennia.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Ask Caesar 2,000 years ago.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: He's a pretty strong guy with a very deliberate way of governing power, control, fear.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Fast forward over the years, right?
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: And today, what's happening is humanity as a consciousness is waking up to the feminine side of herself.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: It's a spiritual evolution that humanity is literally going through as we're speaking, literally.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: And though it's happening to make that happen, as that's happening, you're becoming more and more consciously aware.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: For those of you that have conscious awareness of your thoughts, you're also becoming more and more consciously aware of your emotions.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: And the We Podcast is a place that I'm going to validate your emotions, all of them.
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: The mad ones, the glad ones, the sad ones, and the scared ones.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: Because we're emotional beings.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: And everybody's on, you know, if you're on a spiritual path, that means you're wanting the spiritual communion and the goodie of connecting with a power greater than yourself.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: And if you were going to do that, what would word would that be?
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: It'd be love.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: The single word that describes all essences, all different adjectives of a power greater than itself.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: And I don't care what you call it, is love.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: Truly.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: Well, what is love?
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's right, it's an emotion.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Well, we're emotions in the heart.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: Well, how do you get there?
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: You have to be able to learn how to commune consciously with your heart.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: And that's a lot of what we talk about here at the Wii Podcast.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: The consciousness, the true conscious action steps that create more of a deliberate, specific conscious behavior with your inner self, your emotional self.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: And in addition to that, conscious behavior, conscious action steps, literally thinking about it, deciding what you're going to say, and taking action on the asking for strength and courage or guidance or whatever it is you need to ask for from a power greater than yourself.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: And then listen.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: Because if you're on this podcast and you're sticking around and you're listening to a lot of them, you have that capacity right now, more than ever before, literally more than ever before.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: And for a lot of you, if you told your community around you, I can talk to God inside of me, they're going to think you're nuts.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: For a lot of you, are you nuts?
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: No.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: You're waking up.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: It's called spiritual awakening, and it's happening around the globe.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: Some of the techniques to get there, you know, to be guided by a power greater than ourselves, we have to be able to learn how to hear the part.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: And some of us hear it by a voice.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: Some of us hear our higher power or our divinity by a feeling.
- 26:59SPEAKER_00: Some of us sense it.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: And the best way to really get in the practice of communing with that power greater than yourself is the act of silence, is taking the action step of being silent for an extended period of time per day.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: And for those of you that are new, I'm asking everybody on this podcast to start with five minutes a day.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: And going silent does not mean no motion.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: It means no external stimulus, no radios, no cell phones, no TV, no kids, no nothing.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: Just be in silence and be aware of the voices in your head, but don't act on them.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: Don't pay attention to them.
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: Don't listen.
- 27:45SPEAKER_00: Hear them, but don't listen.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: Be more of a witness to the voices in your head.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: And if those voices, you hear some crazy, unloving ones, the technique I talk about all the time.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: We have to honor all parts.
- 28:01SPEAKER_00: And that means the crazy voices, they get to be honored also.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: And what do we do to honor them?
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: We write them down.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Bullet point, bullet point, bullet point, whatever your voices are.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: The technique of the past was act like the voice isn't there, work very diligently to change the mind of the voice, and then do an action step regardless of what the voice is telling you.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: And I say all the time, if that's working, great.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: For the other 99% of you, write the voices down.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: Get them out of your head and tell somebody else.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: That's an action step that starts changing guidance system.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: One of the reasons, the primary reason you recreate the same external world is because it's the same internal voices in your head that are the ones in charge of your action steps.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: We're going to talk about how to separate all that here in just a couple minutes.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: In silence, you're going to be aware of the loud voices, and then over time listen to the softer voice.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: Listen for a softer voice, a gentler voice, a more inclusive voice.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: And that more inclusive voice, folks, is your higher power.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: And that being doing that technique of silence, it really gives you a literal action step to start the process of how you become aware of a different guidance system.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: Guidance system is that part of you that when you're sitting there on a Tuesday morning, you hear a voice that says, it's time to go grocery shopping.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: You hear a voice that says it's time to go to work.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: You hear a voice that says, you know, I got to make sure my kids are to school.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: There's something in you guiding you.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: It's the voice or the part of you that tells you, your physical being, what to do.
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: Well, that voice, if it is unconsciously guiding you, 99% of the time it's going to be guiding you out of fear.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: Fear of not getting what you want or fear of losing what you have.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: And that is why we repeat over and over and recreate in our external world over and over the same things.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: Because we have the same voice in us guiding us on a Tuesday, even though we break up with the old boyfriend last week.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: On Tuesday morning, we start taking action steps guided by the same type of voice.
- 30:39SPEAKER_00: And a month, two months, three months, little action step at a time, we end up attracting the same type of person that we just broke up.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: Different package, different personality, different whatever ends up being the same thing.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: And I've heard people say, well, that's karma.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: The external world is crap because I did crazy stuff in my yesterday.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: That's just simply not true.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: That's not true.
- 31:05SPEAKER_00: We do not live in a punishing world.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: It doesn't exist.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: Your external world is the same tomorrow as your yesterday if you don't make any changes today.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: And the Wii Podcast is about teaching you the changes you can make today so that your tomorrow can be different.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: We're going to talk about some of those changes here in just a little bit.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: The whole idea of stillness and silence, I say, you know, five or six minutes a day start.
- 31:33SPEAKER_00: I've been working on my puzzle.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: I work big puzzles.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: I've just about done.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: I've got a 40,000-piece puzzle I'm working on.
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: I'm just about done with the first section, 4,000 pieces.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: And I spend five or six hours a day working that puzzle, and that's my silence.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: That's my silent time.
- 31:53SPEAKER_00: It's Joe with Joe.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: And some of the stuff I've heard has been pretty amazing.
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: Some of the guidance I've had, pretty amazing, truly.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: And there are long periods of time where the only thing I'm thinking is where the heck is that piece of puzzle?
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: I can sit there for an hour and not put in one piece.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: And then something shifts, and the exact piece is that I needed was right in front of me the whole time.
- 32:18SPEAKER_00: Why is that?
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: That's all part of conscious living.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: On a Tuesday, you don't see it.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: On a Wednesday, you do.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: Well, in my world, I do that with puzzle pieces all the time.
- 32:30SPEAKER_00: But what's the metaphor?
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: How do we become the grandest sense of ourself created in God's image?
- 32:40SPEAKER_00: Means that you're pursuing the grandest you possible.
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: And what does that grandish you look like?
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: That grandish you looks like the aspect of you that's living with in communion with a power greater than yourself, in communion called oneness, and then you share back out into the world a place of overflow, which is called love in whatever you love to do.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: Some people love to do big, bold, multi-billion dollar deals.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: Most, most love to do something that's just more right for you.
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: And there is no right or wrong.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: It could be that cookbook, it could be walking, it could be whatever.
- 33:26SPEAKER_00: And we're going to start talking about the physical side of self here.
- 33:31SPEAKER_00: I'm in my early 60s.
- 33:33SPEAKER_00: I am never sick.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: I take nutrition, vitamins, I exercise some.
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: I wish I would do more.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: I try to do more.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: I'm always in the pursuit of doing more, but I do always do some.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: And you know, there are certain things in the honoring of self that we have to constantly be conscious about.
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: And some of the simplest things when it comes to our physical body is drinking water, getting in some sunlight every day, and getting some exercise, walking.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: And I can promise you, if you do those three things, you physically feel better than the person that doesn't do those three things.
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: And we're going to talk about not as much today, but how do we get started?
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: And then how do we make sure we keep doing it?
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: We've heard our whole life we need to walk.
- 34:22SPEAKER_00: Well, why don't you?
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: Well, there's all sorts of voices in your head telling you you can't.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: We're going to talk about what we do to start that, to shift that.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: And the same with overeating.
- 34:32SPEAKER_00: And the other thing is literally, you know, there's a whole belief system about the sun, but the facts are no sun, no earth.
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: No sun, no life.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: I'm not talking going outside and baking yourself.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: I'm talking going outside and getting sun on your skin a little bit.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: Five minutes a day, ten minutes a day, five minutes every other day.
- 34:53SPEAKER_00: Some quantity that you can do it and feel good about doing it.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: And those types of things we're going to start talking about more and more.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: Well, let's talk about why do we repeat patterns?
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: What is it that causes us to repeat the pattern?
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: And the pattern being how and why do we keep recreating in our external world something that isn't favorable to us?
- 35:21SPEAKER_00: And what does that look like and how does it happen?
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: Well, let's just talk about relationships or a job or where you live or conflict or whatever it is.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: The whole idea of karma, like the universe is doing something to you, simply not true.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: What's happening is that the world around you, the humans around you, are in your world to help you become more aware of you, the inner you.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: And how I literally went from a place of completely unconscious to a place of really in a powerful communion, a oneness with a power greater than myself, was not out of the pursuit of a relationship consciously with a higher power, with a God.
- 36:14SPEAKER_00: I wasn't.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: But what happened was when I started learning emotional growth techniques, emotional growth techniques of healing.
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: The way you heal emotionally is you move from the position of I'm hurting inside and the external world is the reason, to I'm hurting inside, and the external world is showing me that I'm hurting inside.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: Well, I, you know, that's very much easier said than done, of course.
- 36:47SPEAKER_00: And it took me a good 10 years or longer, and multiple different times where therapists would say, Well, Joe, if there's one finger pointing out, three pointing back.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: And what did that mean?
- 36:58SPEAKER_00: Something would happen.
- 36:59SPEAKER_00: You know, I'd get mad, I'd get sad, someone would reject me, someone would say no, somebody would do something.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: And I would blame them for the pit in my stomach, the anger in my heart, the grief in my belly.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: I would blame the external world for the emotional experience I'm having.
- 37:16SPEAKER_00: Now, does that mean that nothing in your external world will ever cause you harm?
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: No, there's plenty of things in your external world that will cause you harm.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: I'm not talking about normal human responses to something that happens in your external world.
- 37:33SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about the massive responses, not normal responses.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: If somebody isn't nice to you or they say something unloving, it hurts.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: Yes, human.
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: That hopefully that person is conscious enough to say they're sorry.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: I did.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: I didn't, I still don't even really know what I did.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: But I said I was sorry.
- 37:53SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm not talking about normal responsive emotion.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about the massive reactionary responses.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: And we all know what that is.
- 38:05SPEAKER_00: It's the big reaction, it's the big, immediate reactions, and those are always based in a source of pain.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: So your external world is not the source of your massive reaction your past life was, your past world was.
- 38:22SPEAKER_00: Your internal world is the reason for the massive reaction.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: And we're going to talk about how do we heal that.
- 38:30SPEAKER_00: Well, the way you heal it is you first have to A, understand the external world is not the source of your angst, it's the reflection of your angst.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: Hear me.
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: The external world is not the source, it's the reflection.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: And yes, there's plenty of things that happen in our external world that mirror, that help us create a mirror for our internal world.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: And over time, when I was constantly in pain and angst and anger and fear and sadness, and always blaming the external world, when you're blaming the external world, then you're trying to fix the external world in the delusion that if the external world is fixed, then I'll feel better.
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: But that doesn't work.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: Because the reason you don't feel good in the first place is a wound inside.
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: So we literally get on this hamster wheel of constantly feeling an angst, whatever it is, big or small, and thinking in our unconscious perspective that if I change my outside, my inside will heal.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: And it doesn't.
- 39:45SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: Because the pain isn't sourced from the outside.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: The pain is in you.
- 39:51SPEAKER_00: So if your consciousness is always looking outside and changing the outside, thinking that if the external is different, I will feel better, then that's powerlessness because you're looking in the wrong place.
- 40:03SPEAKER_00: You will never heal that way.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: You can't.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: You have to bring your consciousness inside.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: And that's what happened for me.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: Well, as I started doing that, literally in the beginning, little by little, and over the years, on every moment, every perspective, every interaction pursuit, of course, with help, then I realized that if I was hurting, I didn't have to change anything in my outside world.
- 40:32SPEAKER_00: I had to communicate with my inside world, which we're going to talk about how to do that here with the dual-hand journaling here in just a little bit.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: The communion inside, bringing our awareness inside, is the step, is the pursuit, is the how to heal.
- 40:50SPEAKER_00: And as you move from external solution to internal solution, you're literally moving from an external world of powerlessness to an internal world of, I don't know what the heck I'm looking for, and I don't know what the heck I'm going to do about it, and I don't really know how I'm going to do it, but I'm going to keep working until I do it.
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: And when you get in that position, then you move from powerlessness to faith.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: Faith, because I would have experiences, and literally, you know, something, a job or a client would go away, or my girlfriend and I would get in a fight, or whatever the it was.
- 41:28SPEAKER_00: And eventually, and that's the whole concept of you have to look at your side of the street.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: And that's a beautiful way to be in the beginning, especially.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: Look at your side of the street.
- 41:39SPEAKER_00: What is your side of every experience?
- 41:42SPEAKER_00: Because when you come to your side, you have control over your actions, your perceptions, your choices, your lack of choices, your decisions, your lack of decisions, your action steps, your lack of action steps.
- 41:58SPEAKER_00: You can control you.
- 42:01SPEAKER_00: And when you get in a place of the perspective that says, I'm hurting, my outside world caused it somehow, but I know my answers are inside.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: And I don't know where it is.
- 42:14SPEAKER_00: I don't know how to do it.
- 42:15SPEAKER_00: I really don't know if I'll ever get to it, but I'm going to keep working until I do.
- 42:20SPEAKER_00: And I'm going to work until I find it and then heal it.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: Moving from a place of external solution to internal solution and knowing over time you'll heal, that's an act of faith.
- 42:32SPEAKER_00: Faith is trust in action.
- 42:35SPEAKER_00: Well, if you're trusting that the answers are inside, and then the action steps are about self-discovery, we're journaling and talking it out with a therapist and talking it out with friends and talking about your stuff, that's the action.
- 42:50SPEAKER_00: So if you trust that you'll get to the solution and you take the action, which are all inside, that's called faith.
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: That's what faith is.
- 42:58SPEAKER_00: Well, I started doing that more and more.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: I did it all the time.
- 43:02SPEAKER_00: And what I found was the more I did it, the more I actually got solutions.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: And every time the solution in my world was a hurt inner child, was a hurt emotional side of myself.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: And for those of you that are new, what is the inner child?
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: We all have an emotional sense of self.
- 43:21SPEAKER_00: We are multidimensional beings and mental, physical.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: You know what your mental is.
- 43:28SPEAKER_00: Multiply three times 10.
- 43:30SPEAKER_00: That's your mind.
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: You know what your physical is.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: Pick up a glass of water, go for a walk.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: You know what your spiritual is, a pursuit of a relationship with God through religion or through enlightenment, whatever it is.
- 43:42SPEAKER_00: Well, the emotional side is the side that society has never supported.
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: And it still doesn't for most.
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: That's why the We Podcast is exploding, because I do it all the time.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: Why do I do it all the time?
- 43:55SPEAKER_00: Because 100% of my spiritual communion happened not every As a pursuit, as a consequence of, as the result of, my spiritual oneness happened as a result of healing my inside world.
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: How did I start that?
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: One finger out, three fingers back.
- 44:16SPEAKER_00: So I started to feel deep, big, huge angst, and I did the best I could not to blame my world.
- 44:24SPEAKER_00: I took that angst to someone I could talk to about it.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: And then eventually, instead of blaming my world, I pursued an answer inside.
- 44:32SPEAKER_00: And the very first thing you do, how do you change the blaming of the external world?
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: You should write a first step, whatever the it is.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: And let's say you're dating somebody and they stay out late at night and you're feeling uncomfortable or whatever, and they don't call you, and you get mad.
- 44:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, now it's the next day.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: And you're still mad.
- 44:58SPEAKER_00: And they should have called and they didn't respect me, and whatever the it is, and it's big, it's festering, you're pissed, you can hardly wait to see him because you're gonna tear their head off.
- 45:09SPEAKER_00: Well, you know what the facts are?
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: Whoever the human is that didn't call you, were they loving?
- 45:13SPEAKER_00: No, they weren't.
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: Would it have been more loving for them to call you?
- 45:17SPEAKER_00: Yes, they were.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: Your bigness because they did not call you is yours.
- 45:23SPEAKER_00: Hear me?
- 45:24SPEAKER_00: Your bigness because they did not call you, that's your pain.
- 45:30SPEAKER_00: Should they have called you?
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 45:32SPEAKER_00: Are they, you know, could we put a bunch of adjectives on them because they didn't call you?
- 45:37SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: Your bigness because they didn't call is your pain.
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: Period.
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 45:43SPEAKER_00: So what do we do?
- 45:45SPEAKER_00: Instead of, that's what I used the concept, you sit your backside on your couch and hear the voices.
- 45:53SPEAKER_00: Everything you want to say to your unloving boyfriend, because he didn't call you last night, everything you want to say to him, write on a piece of paper.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: Every voice you hear in your head when you're in your bigness of emotion, anger, sadness, or fear.
- 46:15SPEAKER_00: If you have another human being's name in your head sentences, write it down.
- 46:22SPEAKER_00: He's a blank, he's a this, he should have done that, he wasn't loving.
- 46:28SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying all those statements aren't true about your boyfriend.
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: Maybe he's all those things.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: I don't really care.
- 46:34SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: We're not talking about your boyfriend, we're talking about the bigness in your angst.
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: That's what we want to get to.
- 46:43SPEAKER_00: How do we get to it?
- 46:44SPEAKER_00: We have to write down the voices.
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 46:46SPEAKER_00: Because if you don't write them down and tell somebody else those voices, as soon as that boyfriend of your comes walking in the room, sooner or later, you're gonna hammer them with all those voices.
- 46:57SPEAKER_00: Or you might not, and then you just, you know, abandon yourself because you don't say anything because you're a good girl and your codependence is too big, and then you build resentment from your own voices because of somebody else's behavior.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: The bottom line: somebody else's behavior is theirs.
- 47:15SPEAKER_00: Your big emotional reaction to it is yours.
- 47:19SPEAKER_00: How do we change the behavior?
- 47:22SPEAKER_00: We write down the voices before we act out the behavior.
- 47:26SPEAKER_00: We write down the voices before we act out the behavior.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 47:33SPEAKER_00: Because when you write down those voices, you're getting those unloving, hurt, hateful, harmful voices that you want to project onto somebody else.
- 47:43SPEAKER_00: You're getting those voices out of you.
- 47:46SPEAKER_00: And eventually you sit on that couch long enough, you're gonna hear an inner part of you, a part of you whose feelings were hurt because your boyfriend didn't call.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: A part of you who was afraid because your boyfriend didn't call.
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: The inner child in you, the inner emotional you is the you under all those big voices.
- 48:15SPEAKER_00: The problem with humanity is that we act out the voices thinking that it's the boyfriend's fault.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: You're in so much pain because he wasn't loving.
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: And when you're acting out the voice, you've got a little kid in here who's scared and sad, who's not being paid attention to.
- 48:33SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 48:33SPEAKER_00: Because you're too busy blaming the boyfriend.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: So we write the voices and then we listen over time, and you'll hear a softer voice, you'll hear a gentler voice, you'll hear an inner child voice.
- 48:46SPEAKER_00: And that's when you switch from one-hand journaling to dual-hand journaling.
- 48:52SPEAKER_00: When you hear, or for a lot of you women, you're gonna feel, you're gonna sense a childlike presence inside yourself.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: And when you hear that part, that part's gonna be communicating with you.
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: The inner you is gonna be communicating with the adult you, saying, you know, you ask how you're feeling, or whatever.
- 49:13SPEAKER_00: And then that part with the nom-dominant hand is gonna say, you know, my feelings were hurt that he didn't call us last night.
- 49:19SPEAKER_00: I'm scared that he found somebody else because he didn't call us last night.
- 49:23SPEAKER_00: I'm scared that he got hurt and I didn't know.
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: See, when the inner essence of you has an adult, you to listen to her emotional angst, mad glad sad or scared, then she's being listened to and honored and put first for most of you for the first time.
- 49:43SPEAKER_00: And that's how we start healing the angst.
- 49:47SPEAKER_00: We start healing the deeper part.
- 49:49SPEAKER_00: And if she's sad long enough, there's probably gonna be some tears.
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: She could be mad, the little kid could be mad, and there's gonna be some anger.
- 49:58SPEAKER_00: That's why I say, you know, especially for men, the anger is gonna come.
- 50:02SPEAKER_00: Get that whiffle ball bat five minutes a week, you know, get pictures and beat a bat to get the anger out in a healthy way.
- 50:10SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 50:11SPEAKER_00: But it's in that dual-hand journaling that we stop the behavior of blame, the big voices, and then we sit there long enough to honor the part who's hurting.
- 50:25SPEAKER_00: The only reason you had a big blame, he's a blank blank blank, the bigness, is because there's a hurt inside.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: Flip it the other way.
- 50:36SPEAKER_00: You're a guy, and your girlfriend goes out with her friends, and she goes out with that one girl, you know that one, the one that flirts all the time, the one that drinks too much, you know.
- 50:46SPEAKER_00: Your girlfriend doesn't do that, you know that, you trust her, but she's with that girl.
- 50:50SPEAKER_00: And I just don't like her being around that girl.
- 50:52SPEAKER_00: And then they were all out all night, and you know, that's just not okay, you know, because.
- 50:59SPEAKER_00: And then listen to your voices.
- 51:01SPEAKER_00: The pain you're feeling, the loss you're feeling, the emptiness you're feeling, the pit in your stomach you're feeling because of your belief that your female partner was with somebody else or doing something you didn't like or drinking too much, or whatever she was doing.
- 51:17SPEAKER_00: She's a grown woman, by the way.
- 51:18SPEAKER_00: She can do whatever the heck she wants to do.
- 51:21SPEAKER_00: Now, if you have a connected relationship, hopefully she's not doing anything stupid, you know, or you might have to change the street, you know, find someone else.
- 51:28SPEAKER_00: But 99% of the time, the people that in those circumstances, they're just being them having fun with their friends.
- 51:37SPEAKER_00: The deep angst in your belly is yours.
- 51:40SPEAKER_00: The pit in your stomach is yours.
- 51:43SPEAKER_00: The fear, the loneliness, the pain is yours.
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: How do you get to it?
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: All those hateful, ugly things you want to call her your girlfriend, and your girlfriend's friend.
- 51:56SPEAKER_00: It'd be more probably all the ugly things you want to call that the friend of the girlfriend, you know, that one that drinks too much, and the one that flirts too much.
- 52:04SPEAKER_00: You know, everybody has the one.
- 52:05SPEAKER_00: Write down all those ugly voices you have about that person.
- 52:08SPEAKER_00: Write them down.
- 52:09SPEAKER_00: Bullet point, bullet point, bullet point, and then listen.
- 52:14SPEAKER_00: You're gonna feel it, fellas.
- 52:15SPEAKER_00: For most men, you're gonna feel the anger first.
- 52:17SPEAKER_00: Now, where does all that come from?
- 52:19SPEAKER_00: Why does everybody, 99% of people, have a hurt inner self, a hurt emotional self?
- 52:27SPEAKER_00: Because when we were kids, folks, the whole idea of emotionally supporting us, it didn't exist.
- 52:35SPEAKER_00: I grew up in the 60s and 70s.
- 52:38SPEAKER_00: It did not exist.
- 52:40SPEAKER_00: Consciousness of the 60s and 70s and 80s, it didn't exist, the conscious perspective of honoring emotions and creating safe environments so you can feel what you need to heal.
- 52:54SPEAKER_00: The concept humanity hadn't grown to a place yet to where emotions were honored.
- 53:01SPEAKER_00: Well, does that mean we didn't have emotions as kids?
- 53:04SPEAKER_00: No, we had plenty of them.
- 53:06SPEAKER_00: What it means is if our parents and our environments didn't honor and create safe places so we could express the emotions, it means those emotions were suppressed.
- 53:17SPEAKER_00: And our emotional well-being, our emotional development, it never developed.
- 53:24SPEAKER_00: Emotionally, we never developed as young people.
- 53:29SPEAKER_00: Now, intellectually, we did because we went to school.
- 53:32SPEAKER_00: You know, you go to school and you were taught one plus one, and then eventually you were taught three times three, and then eventually you were taught algebra, and then eventually you were taught calculus.
- 53:42SPEAKER_00: Well, think about it.
- 53:43SPEAKER_00: Think about where humanity would be if school never existed.
- 53:48SPEAKER_00: Now, my boys would say fantastic, and humanity would be great, but I'm saying literally, if we had no social and human humanity to develop the mental side of ourselves, where would humanity be?
- 54:04SPEAKER_00: We'd be in the Stone Ages.
- 54:06SPEAKER_00: Well, for the past millennia, we've developed the mental side of ourselves.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: Fantastic.
- 54:14SPEAKER_00: We haven't developed the emotional side.
- 54:16SPEAKER_00: That's what we're doing now.
- 54:17SPEAKER_00: That's what the We Podcast is all about.
- 54:19SPEAKER_00: And I'm here to tell you, literally, as we're speaking, right now, you could turn this podcast off, but with your dominant hand and a piece of paper, write down, imagine yourself as a kid inside.
- 54:31SPEAKER_00: Whatever age comes, it'll just come and write down, ask that part, how are you?
- 54:37SPEAKER_00: How are you feeling?
- 54:38SPEAKER_00: And then listen.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: My book, Filling the Void.
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: That's what it's about.
- 54:43SPEAKER_00: And I hope you visit joemittica.com.
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: You know, I hope people visit that and get my book.
- 54:49SPEAKER_00: It's free.
- 54:49SPEAKER_00: It's a free download.
- 54:51SPEAKER_00: Because I want people to learn the conscious availability of healing the deep angst.
- 54:59SPEAKER_00: And how do we know we have the deep pain?
- 55:02SPEAKER_00: Because the massive reactionary patterns of our voices and our anger and our frustration and our powerlessness.
- 55:11SPEAKER_00: For the human being who isn't closed down but also doesn't have massive emotional outbursts and the big voices, that just tells me over time they've done a lot of emotional work.
- 55:24SPEAKER_00: They've developed themselves emotionally all these years, and a lot of you have.
- 55:29SPEAKER_00: Doesn't mean there's not more, because there is.
- 55:32SPEAKER_00: And as we learn consciously, we can bring our perspective, our conscious awareness inside, and ask, understanding.
- 55:44SPEAKER_00: First off, you have to understand you're multidimensional.
- 55:47SPEAKER_00: And from an even grander hawk view, you're a spiritual being having a human experience.
- 55:53SPEAKER_00: And that spiritual essence of you, the way humanity communes with your spiritual essence, your divinity, your spiritual sense of self, it's infinite.
- 56:04SPEAKER_00: It's your communion to all that is, to the oneness.
- 56:07SPEAKER_00: How do we commune with it?
- 56:09SPEAKER_00: We commune with it through our emotions.
- 56:11SPEAKER_00: How does humanity truly become one with our spiritual sense of self?
- 56:17SPEAKER_00: Well, what do we call the spiritual sense of self if there was one word?
- 56:21SPEAKER_00: Love.
- 56:22SPEAKER_00: What's love?
- 56:22SPEAKER_00: An emotion.
- 56:23SPEAKER_00: Where are emotions?
- 56:24SPEAKER_00: In our heart.
- 56:25SPEAKER_00: How do we commune with our emotions?
- 56:27SPEAKER_00: How do we consciously connect with our emotions?
- 56:31SPEAKER_00: Dual-hand journaling with your inner child.
- 56:33SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 56:34SPEAKER_00: Because your inner child, our inner self, our inner sense of self is your emotional communion.
- 56:41SPEAKER_00: It represents your emotional sense of self.
- 56:44SPEAKER_00: And you can actually dialogue, communicate with that part.
- 56:49SPEAKER_00: And the more that part of you feels heard, it'll feel safe.
- 56:53SPEAKER_00: The more that part of you feels honored, it'll feel loved.
- 56:57SPEAKER_00: Self-worth and self-esteem from the inside out happens as the inner part of you feels more loved by you.
- 57:09SPEAKER_00: Starting next week, I came across this book, this little pocket book.
- 57:14SPEAKER_00: It's got 36 character qualities.
- 57:17SPEAKER_00: And most, like in this book, it's beautiful.
- 57:20SPEAKER_00: I'll find out who wrote it.
- 57:21SPEAKER_00: It's not my stuff, but I'll find out who wrote it.
- 57:23SPEAKER_00: I'll give them full credit.
- 57:24SPEAKER_00: And every one of these 36 characteristics that they write, they write about the behavior pattern of acceptance from person one to person B, person one to person two, or allowance, or whatever the different words are, right?
- 57:40SPEAKER_00: They're cool.
- 57:41SPEAKER_00: It's a really cool thing.
- 57:42SPEAKER_00: Creativity, courage, decisiveness, cautiousness.
- 57:46SPEAKER_00: All the different, there's 36 of them.
- 57:47SPEAKER_00: Well, each week I'm going to take one of those and integrate it into my conversation here.
- 57:52SPEAKER_00: Not you relative to another human, but you relative to you doing that.
- 57:58SPEAKER_00: Acceptance is the first one we're going to talk about.
- 58:01SPEAKER_00: And acceptance from the emotional side is you have to understand we got a bunch of them.
- 58:06SPEAKER_00: Mad, glad, sad, and scared.
- 58:08SPEAKER_00: For most of us, we got a bunch of it suppressed.
- 58:10SPEAKER_00: How do we know?
- 58:11SPEAKER_00: How many voices do you have in your head?
- 58:14SPEAKER_00: Every voice, unloving voice in your head has a source in your heart called an emotional sense of self.
- 58:20SPEAKER_00: And that's how we heal it.
- 58:21SPEAKER_00: We heal it through becoming aware of the voices by something in our external world.
- 58:27SPEAKER_00: Why do we repeat over and over and over?
- 58:29SPEAKER_00: Why do we tend to have the same type of relationships with the same type of personalities?
- 58:35SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 58:36SPEAKER_00: Because when we're 40 or 30 or 20, and we're dating somebody who goes out and they don't have the self-esteem or self-love to consider somebody else, right?
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: And that inability for them to consider you by their actions is mirroring your inability to consider your own inner child.
- 58:58SPEAKER_00: That's what it's mirroring.
- 59:00SPEAKER_00: Well, how do we fix that?
- 59:04SPEAKER_00: Instead of acting out your big voices, making them wrong for your angst, bring your awareness inside, and go look for the angst.
- 59:15SPEAKER_00: Go listen for the angst, and then let the angst talk, let the angst share.
- 59:22SPEAKER_00: And eventually the angst, the inner angst part, is going to emote.
- 59:29SPEAKER_00: And it's after that emotion, after the release of the suppressed emotion, then you won't have the same voices.
- 59:38SPEAKER_00: And then over time, you won't attract the same type of personality.
- 59:41SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 59:42SPEAKER_00: Because the more considerate you are of you, hear me.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: The more considerate you are of you, and you are of the inner you, and you let that inner you heal, and then you and the inner sense of self gain a sense of esteem and gain a sense of worth and gain a sense of value more and more, then you will attract a human being on your external world that treats you the same way as you treat yourself.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_00: And that's how we change the behavior.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_00: That's how we change the repeat behavior by doing it just like that.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_00: I can tell you a couple stories.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_00: When I was first married, my oldest son was 18 months, and my past wife and I, we had a great relationship.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_00: You know, won't talk for her, but there was a very long time.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_00: We got along really well.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_00: And she had a parenting technique, and I had a parenting technique.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_00: Well, I've been doing interchild work for 20 years, and we were down in Savannah, and my oldest son, Joseph, was about 18 months old, little, you know, maybe even a year old, little, he's a baby, big enough to get in a so he's probably 18 months old.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: And their style of parenting was put him in a playpen, you say, night, night, kissy, kissy, and you walk out.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_00: And when he cries, you just let him cry until he passes out.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_00: Well, I was no sooner going to do that than a man on a freaking moon.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_00: It wasn't happening.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_00: Period.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_00: Because can you say abandonment, neglect, abuse?
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_00: That's Joe's perspective of what my son would have gone through.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_00: Their perspective was he learns to take care of himself.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_00: He learns to be independent.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_00: He's 18 months old.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_00: I have a different perspective than that.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_00: And I didn't care.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_00: There were three of them and it was me.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_00: I didn't care.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_00: I argued and I grabbed my.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_00: And I wasn't going in there to do anything except sit in the rocking chair next to my son Joseph's crib.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_00: So he could see that his dad is there.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_00: He's in a strange city, in a strange room, in a dark room, on one of those play pens that wasn't soft at all.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_00: And he was scared.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_00: And all he needed was an adult in there so he could feel safe.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_00: The adults are supposed to make sure their kids feel safe and him go to sleep.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_00: Well, they fought, I fought, they screamed, I could care less.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_00: I wasn't leaving the room.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_00: It's me against the world, right?
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_00: Well, that isn't the story.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_00: I'm driving back.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_00: I call this my Savannah experience.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_00: And I call at the time my preacher, my minister, who happened to be my father-in-law, but we were good friends.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_00: And I tell him the story.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_00: And I just knew he's going to be on my side.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_00: I just knew it.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_00: I was right.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_00: I knew I was right.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_00: You know what he said to me?
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_00: He says, Joe, I just have to tell you, I think you're in a blind spot.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_00: And he used that classic line: one finger pointing out, three fingers pointing back.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_00: And I was like, no, what you're missing.
- 1:02:56SPEAKER_00: You don't understand.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_00: His name is Steve, beautiful man, a masterful minister, Steve Boland.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_00: Steve, you don't understand.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_00: They wanted this.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_00: And I was fighting.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_00: And I was fighting.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_00: He says, Joe, you know, I just think you got a blind spot.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_00: I didn't, I really thought he was gonna be on my side, and he wasn't.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_00: Because it isn't about side when there's discovery.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_00: Because I wasn't looking for my side, I was looking to be right.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_00: And I was looking then to have somebody tell me I was right.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_00: Well, what did he say?
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_00: Jay in a blind spot.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_00: And I'll never forget that.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_00: It was about did I get it immediately?
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_00: Did I see my side?
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_00: They were wrong, I was right, period.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_00: I would never do that to my son, never.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_00: And the argument, what happened was the reason there was an argument wasn't behavior differences.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_00: It was they were trying to convince me they were right, and I was trying to convince them I was right.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_00: The arguing was about me trying to change their minds so that they would agree with me that I'm right.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_00: And I didn't see it at the time.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_00: I didn't.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_00: I didn't see it at all.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_00: I never left that room.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_00: My son eventually went to sleep.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_00: My past wife and I didn't talk for two weeks or a week, whatever.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_00: She's fiery.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_00: She's a fighter.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_00: She was, you know, 100 pounds, but just a fighter.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_00: You know, equal to me, of course.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_00: She just knew she was right, and I just knew I was right, and blah, blah, blah.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_00: And eventually what I realized was the arguing wasn't about the behavior patterns.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_00: The bottom line is I did it one way, they did it another way.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_00: And grown conscious adults in that moment, 20 years ago, this would have been literally 18, 19 years ago, would have said, we're going to agree to disagree.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_00: And Joe, you do what you want.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_00: If you need to sit in there, sit in there, and we're going to do what we want.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_00: Well, that isn't what happened.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_00: I was fighting to change their mind.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_00: Because my own issues, the belief, the bigness of my angst with the thought of my 18-month-old being in there all alone and fearful by himself.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_00: Would he have made it?
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_00: Of course he would have.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_00: Would he have been okay the next morning?
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he wouldn't have thought a thing about it.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_00: My bigness was my own inner child.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_00: The fear, the abandonment, the neglect of my own inner child, literally.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_00: And took me a while to get it.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_00: Eventually I had to make amends, which is always the part that's hard.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_00: Did anyone make amends to me?
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_00: Does that matter?
- 1:05:47SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_00: Would have felt better that they would have said, Yeah, you know, we're sorry, Joe.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_00: No, that isn't the people.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_00: They didn't.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_00: That's their world, not my world.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_00: And what I realized was.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_00: In theory, was I being a loving dad?
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_00: Sure, to my son.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_00: Was the being a loving dad to my son what caused the bigness of the fight?
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_00: The bigness of the fight was because my fear inside was fighting and trying to change their minds.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_00: So what did I do?
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_00: Eventually I heard it.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_00: Eventually I wrote down everything I said to them, you know, literally.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_00: Now, this is a week later, a month later, whatever, I took it to therapy.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_00: And eventually I reached a little boy in me who was always abandoned, who was always put in one of those play pens that would be left alone, who was afraid.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_00: Literally, my own inner child.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_00: And that's an example of when we see it isn't about right and wrong.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_00: We're not gauging self-discovery based on right and wrong.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_00: We gauge self-discovery based on reactionary bigness.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_00: On the real I was livid, livid, mad, mad, and I'm big.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_00: So when I'm big and mad, I shake the house.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_00: Well, it was three of them, and I didn't care.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_00: Well, it's the bigness, the reactionary bigness, which is the red flag.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_00: And when you can be conscious enough, instead of acting out the red flag, but in my case, I acted it out completely, and then a month later I figured it out.
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_00: I call it my Savannah Experience, because that was big for me.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_00: It wasn't about right or wrong with my son, it was about me trying to change their mind.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_00: I was powerless to changing them.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, of course.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_00: They're them, I'm me.
- 1:07:49SPEAKER_00: Well, when we see in a self-discovery conscious healing, emotional healing perspective, when you see your the reactionary bigness, that's the red flag.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_00: That's the beginning state of the how-to.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_00: When you see your own bigness, try to step back, try to move away, try to turn away, try to go somewhere else instead of acting out the words.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_00: Because as I was yelling and screaming and whatever at these other three adults, first off, I was scaring the crap out of my son, but I was abandoning my own little kid.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_00: In the trying to change their mind, external change of them, I was blaming them for my bigness.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_00: I was abandoning myself, literally.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_00: Well, it took me a while, and I got to that part, and I journaled with that part.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_00: Eventually, that part grieved.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_00: Eventually, I remembered times when I was a little older than Joseph, and it was hard.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_00: I was basically acting out.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_00: And in that car, I just knew he was going to agree with me.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_00: And when he didn't, it made me pause.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_00: It did.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_00: He wasn't trying to rescue, he was just stating his view.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_00: And I don't even know if he knew what he saw, but he could intuitively he knew that the way I was talking, I was talking about them instead of me.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_00: So what was he describing as the blind spot?
- 1:09:21SPEAKER_00: Did he know therapeutically what my blind spot was?
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_00: What could he hear?
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_00: He's been on a conscious path 50 years longer than me.
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_00: He could hear that I was blaming them for my bigness.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_00: That's what he could hear.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_00: And he pointed it out.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_00: Joe, I think you got a blind spot in a very calm voice.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_00: I hung up that phone.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_00: I'll never forget.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_00: I was so disappointed.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_00: I just knew he was going to be on my side.
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_00: And he wasn't.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_00: So it caused me to feel sadness, it caused me to feel more.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_00: And I got with my kid and we journaled.
- 1:09:50SPEAKER_00: Why do we do it?
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_00: What's the end result?
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_00: Well, the end result is if you want your external world to truly change, like literally change, it changes as you learn how to change the part of you who guides your Tuesday morning decisions.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_00: That's how your external world changes.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_00: It's not karma and all that craziness.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_00: That has nothing to do with anything.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_00: Nada.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_00: The universe isn't coming after you.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_00: The universe is mirroring you.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_00: It's spiritual law, literally mirroring.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_00: So, how do we change the external experience?
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_00: We learn how to change the internal guidance system.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_00: So, the how-to, the next time you hear or feel yourself in big emotional reactionary experience, the very first place to do that's your humanity having a big emotional reaction is you say to your higher power, please guide me.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_00: Dear God, please guide me.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_00: Dear God, please help me.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_00: Dear God, help me see me.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_00: I would I learned to say, Dear God, give me the strength and courage to feel what I need to heal.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_00: Today I would say, you know, divinity, guide me.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_00: And so as soon as I, instead of letting my reactionary voices be projected on another human, which is an unconscious perspective, an unconscious action, I go to conscious action.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_00: And that conscious action is instead of reacting, if it was me and my girlfriend, it would be saying, Dear God, help me, dear God, what are you trying to show me here?
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_00: Dear God, dear higher power, guide me here.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_00: So I'm bringing conscious awareness instead of reacting unconsciously, I'm bringing conscious awareness to pursuing support from a higher power first, which then, as soon as you start pursuing support from a higher power, you're moving from fear to faith.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_00: Your external world will constantly repeat itself because your behavior patterns and your action steps are based in fear.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_00: What is a fear-based behavior pattern in this particular example?
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_00: The bigness of your emotion, and it's her fault.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_00: Her.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_00: No, your bigness of emotion is in you.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_00: But if you believe it's her, that's a fear-based perspective.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_00: A faith-based perspective, an overflow-based perspective is the perspective of discovery.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_00: You bring your awareness inside.
- 1:12:31SPEAKER_00: Well, that's really hard to do, Jeff.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_00: That's why you ask for help from a higher power first.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_00: As we remember, we're not a me.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_00: We, as a human experience, are a we.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_00: The human self, in this case, that's having massive reactionary emotion, the divine self that you can ask for strength and courage from, and the inner self who's in pain.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_00: The only reason we have big reactionary responses is because we've got an inner child, an inner essence who's in pain.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_00: As we heal that pain, as we bring awareness to that pain, as we put the inner us first long enough, that part starts feeling better.
- 1:13:16SPEAKER_00: That part starts feeling honored.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_00: That part starts feeling loved.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_00: That part starts feeling trust.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_00: And the ability, your ability to trust, which is different than love, the guidance system of a power greater than yourself, that ability to trust is created by the relationship you have with you and your inner sense of self.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_00: That inner sense of self is an independent aspect of you.
- 1:13:46SPEAKER_00: As you keep it first, and that part feels safe, eventually it trusts.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_00: You earn the trust of that part.
- 1:13:54SPEAKER_00: It'll open, it'll grieve, it'll emote, it'll heal.
- 1:13:58SPEAKER_00: And then what do you have after it heals?
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_00: An open part and more ability to trust.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_00: What is oneness with a power greater than yourself?
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_00: Living from your own place of love in your heart, and that love is the communion with a power greater than yourself, and then following the guidance system of that higher power.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_00: How do you do that?
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_00: You have to be able to trust, truly.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_00: Literally, in my recent month or so in silence, I've learned, I heard a part because there would be different ways I would be guided.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_00: And typically it was based on something I was pursuing or something, an object or a thing or a person or whatever.
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_00: And if I would think about that part or whatever, I had for four years what I call this one particular woman, my Red Hawk experience.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_00: Like if I would think of her, she'd come up, whatever.
- 1:14:51SPEAKER_00: I would use that person.
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_00: I've never met this woman, but I just use that figure and I'd go online.
- 1:14:57SPEAKER_00: Look around, whatever I was supposed to find.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_00: And I did.
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_00: That's how the Wii podcast started.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_00: Wendy Stevens, I met her after one of those spiritual experiences a year ago, right now.
- 1:15:06SPEAKER_00: Well, just recently, I heard it's for Joe, it's time to be guided by the blankness.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_00: Be guided by the blankness, which is a different level of allowance, it's a different level of guidance, it's a different style of guidance, and quite honestly, a very different style of trust.
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_00: Because being guided by blankness means for me, if it's blank, then no action is needed, there's nothing to do.
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_00: And you trust that eventually, in the blankness, something will show up.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_00: I'll hear it, I'll feel it, I'll see it, I'll sense it, and then I'll take action.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_00: In future episodes, I'm going to talk about that experience even more.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_00: The consequence of healing the depths of ourselves is eventually we live out in a world where communing with a power greater than yourself is the only experience left.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_00: Because all the voices are gone.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_00: Because the reason the voices were there were a hurt little kid.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_00: Well, for years and years I did the hurt little kid, and the hurt little kid's much better.
- 1:16:18SPEAKER_00: I don't have the voices.
- 1:16:20SPEAKER_00: I literally, I've shared this story, and I'll end with this.
- 1:16:24SPEAKER_00: I've got a woman I support out of Texas, fabulous.
- 1:16:27SPEAKER_00: She went through some challenges, went through, you know, about a 90-day period of time where, you know, her communion and her connection, she just felt like it was squeezed off.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_00: Well, through support and listening, and you know, I'm not a therapist, I listen.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_00: Well, she sat on her couch and she had some grief come up around a teenage age.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_00: She had some grief come up about an eight-year-old age.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_00: You know, a couple six weeks or so.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_00: And while she's doing other stuff, then out of nowhere, it's like her spiritual flow is now back times 10.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_00: And that's why I say people are doing it a lot faster.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_00: Your communion and oneness with a power greater than yourself will accelerate as you honor the emotional side of yourself, also in addition to.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_00: When you use the big reactionary times in your life as a red flag instead to step away, versus a motivation to take external crazy act, as you use it as a red flag to take a different action, step back, ask for support from a higher power, journal with your little kid, dual hand, write out the voices in your head.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_00: As you get all of that fear-based, unloving guidance system based in your out of you by writing about it.
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_00: You become conscious with it, you give it to somebody else in a first step, then what's left is a very different style of guidance.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_00: It's a very different style of living.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_00: And it's in that difference that everything is different.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_00: The We Podcast is truly here to help a hundred million people understand that we are as a humanity, individual humanity, we live as the existence of a we human self, higher self, inner self.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_00: Your communion and oneness with the grandest essence of you, we do it through love.
- 1:18:33SPEAKER_00: How do we commune with love?
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_00: We dual-hand journal with the aspect, your emotional aspect.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_00: And through the doing that, we're honoring not just love, but the mad, the sad, and the scared motions too.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_00: The ones that are left are love.
- 1:18:50SPEAKER_00: As more of us do it, more of us do it.
- 1:18:52SPEAKER_00: And as we heal, the more oneness we have, and the more oneness we live, the more overflow we have to give to the world.
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_00: And as that continues, that's how we heal the world.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_00: Literally.
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_00: My goal of healing humanity and 100 million downloads a month.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:19:11SPEAKER_00: Because as more of us live from that place of oneness, the action steps of the day from oneness is the pursuit of grace, which is the pursuit of giving back.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_00: And as more and more people give back, more and more people feel better.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_00: As more and more people feel better, more and more people heal.
- 1:19:32SPEAKER_00: And together, that's how we're healing humanity one smile at a time.
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_00: And from around the world, I want to welcome everybody to we.
