- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: Would you rather get one good gift or like multiples like bad gifts?
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, not bad gifts, but like one big good gift or a few smaller gifts.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: Well, as a kid, how big can a gift be?
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: You can get a car.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you want toys.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: So, like we talking about the size of the toy, like, I think I always like two gifts, because to me, a gift was a gift.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I was already happy.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's no gift that's like, I mean, obviously there's one that you feel like are better than others, but I feel like... Stop saying, I feel like.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: Stop saying, I feel like.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: No, we talked about this.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: You say, I feel like too much.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: I do, and it's a problem.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so in 20 conscious about it.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: So in 20, oh, I am.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: But in 2026, I'm going to stop.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: This is when the...
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: When the stop saying it.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: In the new year, I'm going to...
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so no more, I feel like.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: Unless it really just makes sense.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so, oh, you asked me how I realized...
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: So did you know that Santa was in real?
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember, I don't remember when I realized he wasn't real.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: But I remember that.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: But there was a time where you thought, say no, it was a real.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like...
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: Those times were weird.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, comes.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: I used to watch Santa on the online like Santa map.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: When they first, I don't know.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it was, I mean, I was the online Santa map.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think by the time that that was a thing, you probably already knew that Santa wasn't real.
- 1:38[UNKNOWN]: Oh.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: but I remember he was like the last few years when I was maybe like seven, eight, where that was like 7,000, 7,000, eight.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: So they made like a Santa map where you could go online and see where Santa is depending on the time zone.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: And so then it was like all of Santa's in like Paris right now.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's working.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was crazy.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's who was so exciting.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I feel like it's important.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I want to give.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I want to give our kids that too.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: I want to give our kids that we never I didn't have a time where somebody dressed at Pesanta because I was the last one in my family that still believed in it.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: My cousins and my siblings were already older but when my sister and my brother were young I think like somebody dressed up at Santa.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: Somal from the family?
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: Because it was fun for the kids to see Santa and I just think keeping this sort of magical life for children, I can still remember how magical I felt even now knowing that it wasn't real.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: When it was real, it was the best thing ever.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I want
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and on me too, did you guys have a go to the mall to take pictures with the sand that was down there?
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that was interesting.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it might be a thing now, but like mall Santa didn't really exist.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: Or at least we didn't really do that.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: Why is Santa so magical for kids?
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's like they get so excited.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's the whole concept of like...
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: some strange person like coming to your house and dropping off a bunch of presidents and then you get to this right I would write like my gift list of like what I want for Christmas
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: I was so so cute.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: There was so many like home videos of different Christmas and like what we looked like.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's so good that you guys did that.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: We never really made home videos like parents didn't record us.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: Everyone in my family like my grandpa, my parents, like everybody was really into like filming and documenting, which is really interesting.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: Now basically what I do.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: who took some photos but like I cannot find this videos of of me doing shit when I was young I mean I might have just wanted to have me dancing on my own cause wedding yeah but it's interesting because you don't have anything like even later maybe when you were but I don't know like seven eight
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't have videos of me doing anything.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like, 12, 15.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, okay, 15, I guess you weren't really.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: 15.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: A 15 where they're phones?
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: What else?
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't have, I may have just a couple basketball videos of me when I was 15.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: But they're on the phone.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I don't have like videos of me when I was like 11 or 10 doing anything.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: Damn.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's in your head, obviously.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: And you have some photos.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I don't know.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: My family was just everybody, most people in my family were just huge with, like, as soon as they could buy, like a big ass camcorder, like, my dad was always filming that.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: There's a whole story where, like, I broke the mic because I grabbed, like, the thing covering the mic.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: When I was a baby, obviously, but to answer the question, I remember the time when I realized Cric Santa was in real
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think I was eight or nine.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: My siblings already knew, obviously.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: And we were in the living room.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then they were like, oh, Ali, let's go into the room and like hang out or whatever, which I thought was weird because I never, it's not a thing to be like, oh, let's go play in the room.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: We were older.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like my sister was, I don't know, 14 or 15.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: My brother was 12, we didn't really hang out like that.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: I already thought that was weird.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: And then my mom then was in her room and I could hear from my room how she was like ripping paper.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they were just kind of like over me not knowing and they didn't want to keep her tending on this whole thing so they got a little sloppy.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: And then I remember also I was looking for socks in my mom's closet because I needed socks.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: I remember seeing like something that looked like it was closed that would fit me.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: That were in like a new clothes because they were in this like plastic wrapping thing.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: So I was like, oh, I wonder if those are for me.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: But then I didn't think about it anymore.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then I saw that was one of my gifts.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: Did that ruin Christmas for you after that?
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it didn't ruin Christmas.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: Christmas is still fun.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm still excited for Christmas now, you know?
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so speaking about Christmas now.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
