- 2:25Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen, This true story concerns the heart of
- 2:29Speaker 2: a great city. It took fifty eight minutes to resolve
- 2:33Speaker 2: the question of its safety or its total destruction. This

- 2:39Speaker 2: names have been changed to protect the innocent.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Dragnet the documented drama of an actual crime. Well the
- 3:00Speaker 3: next thirty minutes, in cooperation with the Los Angeles Police Department,
- 3:04Speaker 3: you will travel, step by step on the side of
- 3:06Speaker 3: the law through an actual case transcribed from official police violence,
- 3:10Speaker 3: from beginning to end, from crime to punishment, Dragnet is
- 3:14Speaker 3: the story of your police force and action.
- 3:20Speaker 4: It was Tuesday, November fifteenth, was reigning in Los Angeles.
- 3:24Speaker 4: We were off duty, reporting in on an emergency call.
- 3:26Speaker 4: My partner's Ben Romero. The boss is Lynn White, Deputy
- 3:29Speaker 4: Chief of Police. My name is Friday. Was eight twenty
- 3:32Speaker 4: five am when I walked into the main street entrance
- 3:34Speaker 4: to the city hall.
- 3:39Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right right, thank you.
- 3:58Speaker 6: How I'm going to run you up to six seeing
- 4:00Speaker 6: chief's waiting for.
- 4:01Speaker 3: You up there.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Well, what's the pitch? Only one elevator here in service
- 4:05Speaker 4: out of ten. The place looks deserted. What's going on?
- 4:09Speaker 7: Nobody in the building, shardan. All the office people have
- 4:12Speaker 7: been sent home.
- 4:13Speaker 8: Lots of trouble.
- 4:14Speaker 7: Somebody declare a holiday no joke, Sergeant's big trouble. You
- 4:18Speaker 7: convinced me?
- 4:19Speaker 6: What is it here?
- 4:20Speaker 7: We are sixteenth floor. You can't all over here?
- 4:25Speaker 8: Friday?
- 4:25Speaker 7: Right?
- 4:28Speaker 8: All right? Now? Well, Ben, we had good time.
- 4:31Speaker 7: I came as soon as I got the call in.
- 4:32Speaker 8: Sorry, I have to bring it back in.
- 4:33Speaker 7: You worked last night, Yeah, mid ninete eight this morning?
- 4:36Speaker 9: Sorry, come on, wonder is he's give him while on
- 4:39Speaker 9: the hush huts where we get inside and yeah, okay,
- 4:48Speaker 9: Number one.
- 4:48Speaker 10: Let's keep my voices down. Ah, how make it as
- 4:51Speaker 10: brief as I can. Every night counts on time?
- 4:53Speaker 7: You got Friday, eight thirty three?
- 4:56Speaker 8: All right?
- 4:56Speaker 10: Here it is fifty five minutes ago. A man walked
- 4:59Speaker 10: into this building with the homemade bomb under his arm.
- 5:01Speaker 10: We don't release his brother from the county jail by
- 5:03Speaker 10: nine o'clock this morning. He says, he'll pull a trigger
- 5:05Speaker 10: on the bomb and blow up the whole building. He's kidding, Skipper.
- 5:08Speaker 10: Who is the guy names Brenning Carney. Here's his package.
- 5:11Speaker 10: He and his brother have been in and out of
- 5:12Speaker 10: jail since nineteen thirty seven. Small town thieves.
- 5:16Speaker 7: BI kicked back here. We had him once before, both
- 5:19Speaker 7: of 'em.
- 5:20Speaker 9: Brother's name is Alwin, serving a year for car stripping,
- 5:23Speaker 9: and there's two big thief. He's sitting here in the
- 5:25Speaker 9: city hall with a bomb on his lap.
- 5:27Speaker 8: That's right, I'm extroom.
- 5:29Speaker 7: What kind of a bomb is it? Then you think
- 5:30Speaker 7: he's bluffing, could be buffing the crime lab, says no.
- 5:33Speaker 6: Lee Jones from the lab, get to look at it.
- 5:35Speaker 10: He's been in here twice. Ru under the box's glass
- 5:37Speaker 10: says he can't see much without a cluster. Luck but
- 5:39Speaker 10: you can't get near the guy.
- 5:40Speaker 7: All right?
- 5:41Speaker 8: What he wants to do, volunteer job. He can take
- 5:43Speaker 8: it or leave it. I won't order you to do it.
- 5:45Speaker 6: How do you want to handle it?
- 5:47Speaker 8: Are you sure you want a piece of this one?
- 5:49Speaker 5: Now?
- 5:49Speaker 7: No, No, he doesn't. He's got a family. Can you
- 5:51Speaker 7: get me another single man. We'll give it a try.
- 5:53Speaker 9: Wait a minute, Joe, what makes his job so different?
- 5:55Speaker 9: Every time we kick in the door, we never know
- 5:56Speaker 9: what's on the other side.
- 5:57Speaker 7: That's what makes it different. This time we do.
- 5:59Speaker 6: Oh and cut me out? Not the only time. I
- 6:01Speaker 6: know what I'm getting into.
- 6:02Speaker 10: All right, Chand was tried, Anna and Davis Watson, I've
- 6:05Speaker 10: all tried this guy. Connie knows what he's doing. There's
- 6:08Speaker 10: no pushover. But somebody's got to get that bomb away
- 6:10Speaker 10: from it. Jow baby.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Now, I looked at my watch. It was eight thirty six.
- 6:15Speaker 4: We left Chief White and started down the hall. If
- 6:18Speaker 4: Cornie was going to make good his threat to blow
- 6:20Speaker 4: up the building by nine o'clock, we had exactly twenty
- 6:22Speaker 4: four minutes to talk him out of it. Bet and
- 6:24Speaker 4: I figured we'd better look him over first and then
- 6:26Speaker 4: work out some kind of a plan.
- 6:27Speaker 7: Maybe just talking to him would do it.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Vernon Connie was sitting in a straight back chair against
- 6:33Speaker 4: the fire wall, facing the door. It was seated between
- 6:36Speaker 4: two windows that looked out over the city. In the
- 6:39Speaker 4: center of the right wall was a connecting door leading
- 6:41Speaker 4: to the office where Chief.
- 6:42Speaker 7: White had briefed us. The door was locked on both sides.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Just off the center and favoring the left of the
- 6:48Speaker 4: room was a small filing table.
- 6:50Speaker 7: There was a dictaphone on it.
- 6:52Speaker 4: In the near left corner, shielded by a white screen,
- 6:54Speaker 4: was a small wash basin. Bren and Connie sat erect
- 6:58Speaker 4: holding a black box on his lap. He held his
- 7:00Speaker 4: right hand inside one end of the box. Ben and
- 7:03Speaker 4: I walked into the room. What do you say to
- 7:07Speaker 4: a man with a bomber.
- 7:11Speaker 8: That's suppose enough.
- 7:14Speaker 7: Cigarette?
- 7:15Speaker 8: Cooney, I'm not smoking right now?
- 7:18Speaker 6: What are you trying to prove?
- 7:19Speaker 8: You know what I want?
- 7:21Speaker 6: We're not gonna let your brother out of jail.
- 7:23Speaker 11: You've gotten till nine o'clock to change your mind. In
- 7:27Speaker 11: that clock up there in the lot, you got twenty
- 7:29Speaker 11: four minutes if we go.
- 7:30Speaker 7: You're going with this, Colonel.
- 7:32Speaker 8: I don't think much of my brain to figure that
- 7:33Speaker 8: one out.
- 7:34Speaker 6: Copper, what made you think you could get away with it?
- 7:37Speaker 8: I have it yet, it ain't nine o'clock. Let's say o'clock. Slow.
- 7:42Speaker 11: I haven't checked it against my pocket watch lately. That's
- 7:44Speaker 11: the one that's running this show.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Have you given any thought to all the innocent people
- 7:48Speaker 4: that are gonna go up with that thing of yours.
- 7:50Speaker 8: My brother's innocent. I want him out of jail.
- 7:52Speaker 7: The court says he's guilty. He'll get out when he
- 7:54Speaker 7: serves his time.
- 7:55Speaker 8: That's where you're wrong, Copper. He gets out at nine
- 7:58Speaker 8: o'clock this morning.
- 8:01Speaker 7: Right, come on, Tony, get your hand out of that box.
- 8:03Speaker 7: Put the box on the table, and.
- 8:04Speaker 8: They got a bluff and donch.
- 8:07Speaker 11: I'm gonna let you get within five fitt in me
- 8:09Speaker 11: before I make a liar out here. All right, Kenny,
- 8:13Speaker 11: I guess you mean business. You can take three more
- 8:16Speaker 11: steps and find out for sure.
- 8:18Speaker 9: Suppose we did let your brother out, we'd just come
- 8:21Speaker 9: out and pick him up again, you along.
- 8:22Speaker 8: With him, if you could find us.
- 8:26Speaker 9: Let's get this straight. If we let your brother Elwood out,
- 8:30Speaker 9: how do we know you'll keep your problem?
- 8:31Speaker 11: What promise I've made? Any promises? You just get all
- 8:35Speaker 11: wa down there first, then we'll talk about it.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Look, there's just one thing I can't figure Kearnie. Yeah,
- 8:41Speaker 4: it's if we don't let your brother out. You say
- 8:44Speaker 4: you'll pull the trigger on that bomb. What are you
- 8:45Speaker 4: gonnapprove by them?
- 8:48Speaker 8: Say thirty seven? Now, you've got twenty three minutes now.
- 8:51Speaker 4: I wish you'd answer that one for me. Why do
- 8:53Speaker 4: you want to kill a lot of innocent people?
- 8:55Speaker 11: Don't try to con me, Copper. I know they cleared
- 8:56Speaker 11: everybody out of this building forty five minutes ago. I
- 8:59Speaker 11: know they clean out the whole block. They got it
- 9:00Speaker 11: roped off.
- 9:01Speaker 6: What'd you get your information?
- 9:02Speaker 11: I got a couple of windows here to look at her.
- 9:07Speaker 8: You think it's about time you send somebody over to.
- 9:09Speaker 9: Get out with wants to stop us from leaving the
- 9:12Speaker 9: building along with the other few officers, and that you
- 9:14Speaker 9: sit here and cut your off fat bone.
- 9:16Speaker 11: Go ahead. Won't be a long wait without you. Who
- 9:22Speaker 11: you're trying to kid? You let me blow up ten
- 9:25Speaker 11: million dollars with a taxpayers money? No, you're gonna let
- 9:29Speaker 11: out with that. You'll win the last minute to do it,
- 9:33Speaker 11: but you'll let him out.
- 9:35Speaker 7: Let's go and listen. Yeah, I'm still not convinced that
- 9:49Speaker 7: County can back up what he says.
- 9:50Speaker 9: Well, why don't you take the box away from him? Yeah,
- 9:53Speaker 9: we're in a spot, let's face it. How about us
- 9:55Speaker 9: getting him first?
- 9:56Speaker 8: How are you going to handle us?
- 9:57Speaker 9: I'm not topman on the pistol range, but I could
- 9:59Speaker 9: wing him and then he hands the.
- 10:00Speaker 12: Box to you, or maybe he falls and his reflex
- 10:02Speaker 12: action pulls the trigger.
- 10:03Speaker 9: Okay, I don't wing. You must stop him for key.
- 10:05Speaker 9: Just can't walk in there and shoot him down. Why
- 10:07Speaker 9: not you do the same thing with any arm graml Yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 9: but you warn him first. I'll warn him, and after
- 10:11Speaker 9: you shoot him you find out it's a harmless gadget.
- 10:12Speaker 9: Couldn't have gone off in a million years.
- 10:14Speaker 8: Our gun's not the answer. We can't shoot him till
- 10:15Speaker 8: we're positive.
- 10:16Speaker 9: We'll be positive by nine o'clock, but then there might
- 10:18Speaker 9: not be anybody around his You.
- 10:19Speaker 10: We've located Connie's apartment. There's a detail out there checking
- 10:22Speaker 10: it now. But Chilly and Morris, have.
- 10:25Speaker 7: You got any ideas at all? Anything we could try.
- 10:27Speaker 12: That's why I called you, and none of us have
- 10:29Speaker 12: gotten any further than you did.
- 10:30Speaker 8: Just now.
- 10:31Speaker 7: There's just one thing I want to know for sure.
- 10:33Speaker 8: Yeah, Friday, is it or isn't it? We all want
- 10:35Speaker 8: to know.
- 10:36Speaker 6: Either way, we got to get that bucks away from him.
- 10:38Speaker 12: I get it, White speaking, Yeah, did, I'll stay out there.
- 10:47Speaker 12: I'll call you, Kelly. They just found twenty eighth sticks
- 10:51Speaker 12: of dynamite and Carne's apartment.
- 11:03Speaker 3: You are listening to dragnet.
- 11:11Speaker 7: We knew now Carnie wasn't kidding.
- 11:13Speaker 4: We could see into the bomb through the glass window
- 11:15Speaker 4: and one end there was dynamite inside, and there was
- 11:18Speaker 4: dynamite in Carne's room. We didn't know if he had
- 11:20Speaker 4: the nerve to pull the trigger. We didn't know if
- 11:22Speaker 4: it would go off when he did. But with only
- 11:24Speaker 4: minutes remaining, nobody wanted to take the chance. From here
- 11:27Speaker 4: on in, all of us agreed that Brennan Connie sat
- 11:29Speaker 4: in the next room holding in his two hands a
- 11:31Speaker 4: force powerful enough to destroy us all.
- 11:34Speaker 7: I looked at my watch. It was twenty minutes till nine.
- 11:37Speaker 8: How do we get it away from him?
- 11:39Speaker 7: I got an idea it might work well.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Connie sitting against the firewall between two windows and they're
- 11:45Speaker 4: both open. I'm try if we could get a man
- 11:47Speaker 4: through one of those windows, we might get Carnie from behind.
- 11:49Speaker 8: How are you going to get him?
- 11:51Speaker 7: Well, whoever gets through the window could slug him.
- 11:53Speaker 6: What do you do?
- 11:53Speaker 5: Then?
- 11:54Speaker 7: Somebody grabs the box, the crime lab can tell us
- 11:56Speaker 7: what to do with it.
- 11:56Speaker 10: Then how do we get a man through one of
- 11:58Speaker 10: those windows? We're on the sixteenth floor.
- 12:00Speaker 4: There's some kind of a ledge that runs around the
- 12:02Speaker 4: building on each story. Isn't it wide enough for a
- 12:04Speaker 4: man to walk on?
- 12:04Speaker 8: Let's take a look.
- 12:11Speaker 6: See that was pretty narrow, Joe.
- 12:17Speaker 7: Good, eighteen inches could be done so risky.
- 12:20Speaker 8: It's been raining out that leg's slippery.
- 12:22Speaker 9: Strong wind out there, Jeorge tarren Man right off the building.
- 12:25Speaker 7: Yeah, I guess you're right.
- 12:26Speaker 12: There's still away. How about a ladder sixteen floor skipping?
- 12:29Speaker 12: There might be away. The fire department is know that.
- 12:31Speaker 12: I'll get Battalion Chief Ferrikson.
- 12:33Speaker 7: There's Lee Jones in the building now, he's.
- 12:34Speaker 10: Over the crime lavel. I'll get him up here too.
- 12:37Speaker 10: I don't know, Friday, maybe it'll work.
- 12:38Speaker 7: It's got too all right.
- 12:39Speaker 10: Now, Look, it's gonna take a couple of minutes to
- 12:42Speaker 10: set this up. We've got to know what Connie's doing
- 12:44Speaker 10: every second of that time.
- 12:45Speaker 6: How about the dictaphone on the table in there.
- 12:46Speaker 10: Good, get it on without him seeing you. We'll try
- 12:49Speaker 10: a dictaphone in there is connected to this one in here.
- 12:51Speaker 10: This room is sixteen fourteen.
- 12:53Speaker 8: You got that?
- 12:53Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 12:54Speaker 8: All right?
- 12:54Speaker 12: Push down key sixteen fourteen on that machine in there
- 12:56Speaker 12: and leave it down.
- 12:58Speaker 9: Get the receiver off the hook and leave it off.
- 12:59Speaker 9: Leave it that's right, you know. If it doesn't know.
- 13:01Speaker 9: If the hook, we won't be able to hear a
- 13:03Speaker 9: thing in the right.
- 13:03Speaker 8: Come on, Ben, when why is picking get your person?
- 13:15Speaker 8: Like my brother still in his self? Coppers are long
- 13:20Speaker 8: run taught, short on time.
- 13:21Speaker 6: Yeah, we know.
- 13:22Speaker 8: I'm telling you. If you're on good, you better get
- 13:24Speaker 8: on over here.
- 13:25Speaker 7: Connie.
- 13:25Speaker 4: I'll bet if we get your brother on the phone here,
- 13:27Speaker 4: he'll tell you that he doesn't want any part of this.
- 13:29Speaker 8: You mean Elwood doesn't want to get out since when Jeory.
- 13:32Speaker 6: Wants out, but not your way.
- 13:33Speaker 7: It's only got a year to serve. Why don't you
- 13:34Speaker 7: leave him alone?
- 13:36Speaker 11: I told all I told him i'd get him out.
- 13:38Speaker 11: He didn't think I could do it, but I'm doing it.
- 13:40Speaker 4: I'll make you a bet, Connie, you let us get
- 13:42Speaker 4: your brother on the phone. He won't walk out of
- 13:44Speaker 4: here with you get him on the phone. Where are
- 13:48Speaker 4: you going? One's over here. I have to use the dictaphone.
- 13:51Speaker 4: I got to get an okay from the chief? Ell
- 13:52Speaker 4: would still a prisoner.
- 13:54Speaker 8: What's the matter with the phone?
- 13:55Speaker 6: No operators? You know the building's been cleared.
- 13:58Speaker 8: That's right, I almost forgot. Okay, you can use a dictaphone.
- 14:05Speaker 4: It's Friday. Chief Connie wants to talk to his brother.
- 14:09Speaker 4: I know you'll have to send somebody over. Have n't
- 14:11Speaker 4: put the call on the extension?
- 14:12Speaker 7: Wait a minute? What's that extension? Ever?
- 14:14Speaker 6: They two three five one two.
- 14:16Speaker 7: Three five one? When right? Well, take a minute.
- 14:23Speaker 8: I kind of like Doc Dale in a couple of
- 14:26Speaker 8: months since I've seen him. Always been together Me and
- 14:29Speaker 8: how much of.
- 14:30Speaker 6: The time, Joe, that's going to see if we can't
- 14:32Speaker 6: hurry that call.
- 14:33Speaker 8: It's a good idea, boy. It's sixteen minutes to nine.
- 14:35Speaker 7: Yeah, hey, top, Yeah.
- 14:39Speaker 8: I got to hang up the dictaphone, didn't you.
- 14:44Speaker 4: I put the receiver back on the dictaphone. Ben and
- 14:47Speaker 4: I had failed to make good on the first step
- 14:48Speaker 4: of the plan. When we got outside the door, we
- 14:51Speaker 4: briefed Davis and Watson. I went in to sit with Carnie.
- 14:53Speaker 4: It would be their job to keep us posted on
- 14:55Speaker 4: Carnie's movements. The dictaphone was out. We went back into
- 14:59Speaker 4: the office next door, Chief Sam Erickson of the Fire Department,
- 15:01Speaker 4: Lieutenant Lee Jones from the crime Lab.
- 15:03Speaker 7: We're already there.
- 15:04Speaker 8: Would have been to help. We haven't got time to
- 15:06Speaker 8: cry over it.
- 15:07Speaker 9: Corney is wide awake, skipper, he doesn't miss a thing.
- 15:09Speaker 9: White Tot is a plan, Friday. We can't run a.
- 15:11Speaker 11: Ladder up from the street too high on, Chief. The
- 15:13Speaker 11: best we've got is one hundred foot aerial. You figure
- 15:15Speaker 11: twelve foot to the story, I'll take you at ninety
- 15:17Speaker 11: six feet eight floors.
- 15:19Speaker 7: We got the latest equipment.
- 15:20Speaker 8: What's that idea you had? Jones?
- 15:21Speaker 6: Sam, can you get a hold of a pump here
- 15:23Speaker 6: in a harvey?
- 15:24Speaker 8: Sure? We got a lot of scaling ladders, but you
- 15:26Speaker 8: got nothing out there to hook him on.
- 15:27Speaker 7: You figure I'm dropping down from the floor above.
- 15:29Speaker 8: That's right, and I figure pump pere would do it.
- 15:31Speaker 8: Sure would.
- 15:32Speaker 11: You could make it fast. The windows sell out there,
- 15:34Speaker 11: But you got a foot and a half ledge in
- 15:35Speaker 11: a way. Now you wants a lifeline?
- 15:38Speaker 8: You mean Nora?
- 15:38Speaker 6: A man on a rope tea.
- 15:39Speaker 8: Yeah, that's the quickest and the quietest. Could you rig
- 15:42Speaker 8: it so one of my boys could do it? Surely?
- 15:44Speaker 8: What's the risk none?
- 15:45Speaker 11: If you work it right, we'll strap on a life belt,
- 15:48Speaker 11: give the man heavy leather gloves, two of my men
- 15:51Speaker 11: to lower him down.
- 15:52Speaker 8: Pick your lightest man. What do you think that's it?
- 15:55Speaker 7: What do we do with a bomb when we get it?
- 15:57Speaker 13: I figure that box Connie's holding is about a foot square.
- 16:00Speaker 13: Here's what I'll do. I'll get you a bucket with
- 16:02Speaker 13: a foot and a half mouth and we'll be full
- 16:03Speaker 13: of water.
- 16:04Speaker 8: You know.
- 16:04Speaker 13: I'll have it right outside the door of that office.
- 16:06Speaker 13: When you get that box, place it in the water.
- 16:08Speaker 13: We'll get the bucket out of the building as fast
- 16:10Speaker 13: as we can.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Once we get the bomb underwater, win and clear.
- 16:12Speaker 13: And you can't promise you that, but it's the safest
- 16:14Speaker 13: way to handle it under the circumstances.
- 16:16Speaker 12: All right, that's it, Sam, You take care of your
- 16:17Speaker 12: end right away.
- 16:18Speaker 8: I'll get the detail.
- 16:19Speaker 13: They give me a hand down on the street and
- 16:20Speaker 13: we'll take the bomb to a safe area and decommission it.
- 16:22Speaker 13: Let's move on it right then, Which part do you
- 16:30Speaker 13: want the rope of the bomb.
- 16:31Speaker 8: You call it, Chief Erickson said, the lightest man on
- 16:34Speaker 8: a rope.
- 16:34Speaker 6: That's made you.
- 16:35Speaker 7: All right, I'll get the bomb out of the building.
- 16:36Speaker 10: Okay, that's the routine, and carry this with you, my man,
- 16:39Speaker 10: it comes down. That rope has one chance to make good.
- 16:40Speaker 10: Slug in and make it count. There's no second try. Yeah,
- 16:43Speaker 10: and Joe, when you grab that box, you've got to
- 16:45Speaker 10: get it away from Carnie before you can squeeze the trigger.
- 16:47Speaker 10: Then you've got to get it down the street.
- 16:48Speaker 7: To the elevator.
- 16:48Speaker 14: You know how to operate it, Well, that's pretty simple,
- 16:50Speaker 14: but I'll double check with the operator and you better
- 16:52Speaker 14: do it right now.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Okay, say we better get Connie's brother on the phone
- 16:54Speaker 4: for him. You seemed anxious.
- 16:55Speaker 6: It might be a pretty good idea.
- 16:57Speaker 12: All right, Remembra that's the outside phone. Get the city
- 16:59Speaker 12: jail right go on Friday time.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Hey, you elevator man, want to see if I know
- 17:12Speaker 4: how to work this thing in yours?
- 17:13Speaker 7: Are you taking over the elevator in a couple of minutes?
- 17:15Speaker 7: You want to check me out?
- 17:16Speaker 14: Nothing to it, Sharden. Here's the control. You push this
- 17:19Speaker 14: lever right to go up left of the down. You
- 17:21Speaker 14: see this little trigger on the underside of the handle. Yeah,
- 17:23Speaker 14: that's a safety lock. Be sure you squeeze it. You
- 17:25Speaker 14: can't move the lever, all right if I try it? Okay,
- 17:28Speaker 14: where I turn off the master squiet?
- 17:30Speaker 8: All right? Answer right? To go up left of the
- 17:34Speaker 8: down all right?
- 17:35Speaker 14: Know how to operate the doors automatic? They work off
- 17:37Speaker 14: the control lever. When the control levers locked, the up
- 17:39Speaker 14: or down position of the doors will close.
- 17:41Speaker 7: I got it.
- 17:42Speaker 14: Now in case they jam this red emergency button apre Yeah,
- 17:46Speaker 14: push it.
- 17:46Speaker 6: If that doesn't close it, we call a repair man.
- 17:48Speaker 7: Ok Yeah, I think I got it. You want to
- 17:49Speaker 7: turn that switchback on it?
- 17:50Speaker 8: All right?
- 17:52Speaker 7: You sure?
- 17:52Speaker 14: Now I have artists to get out of the building.
- 17:54Speaker 14: I'll just leave the elevator right here and take the
- 17:55Speaker 14: stairs down. All right, thanks a lot, All right, Sharten,
- 17:59Speaker 14: just cure. You're going to take the bomb down this car.
- 18:02Speaker 14: We're gonna try.
- 18:03Speaker 6: You won't have any trouble. We haven't had an elevator
- 18:05Speaker 6: failure in eighteen months.
- 18:09Speaker 7: The elevator man turned and went down the stairs. I
- 18:11Speaker 7: started down the corner and met Ben outside the office.
- 18:14Speaker 4: He told me that Lee Jones and Chief Erickson were
- 18:16Speaker 4: on their way up in the freight elevator at the
- 18:17Speaker 4: rear of the building with the necessary equipment.
- 18:19Speaker 7: The two Friday Department volunteers were with him.
- 18:22Speaker 4: The phone call had been put through the city jail
- 18:24Speaker 4: and in a minute Ellwood Conney would be ready at
- 18:26Speaker 4: the other end of the line.
- 18:27Speaker 7: We went in to tell Connie.
- 18:30Speaker 9: I told him over to jail to put the clothes
- 18:31Speaker 9: through an extension two three five one.
- 18:33Speaker 7: When's it coming through?
- 18:34Speaker 6: Right now?
- 18:36Speaker 8: Got Elwood? Would you know?
- 18:38Speaker 7: We told you we get him on the phone for
- 18:39Speaker 7: you call him be thrown.
- 18:41Speaker 8: Him at a Minute's a long time cop. You only
- 18:44Speaker 8: got twelve of them left.
- 18:45Speaker 7: Elwood's going to talk you out of this.
- 18:46Speaker 8: Oh sure, sure, everybody's going to talk me out of this.
- 18:49Speaker 11: First it was his other two cops, the little porky
- 18:51Speaker 11: guy and out of the monkey and you and this
- 18:54Speaker 11: Dixie doehead here now it's now come off it will
- 18:57Speaker 11: do you get my brother over here?
- 18:59Speaker 9: That's him now the coneyout games they put you just
- 19:02Speaker 9: gonna get the phone.
- 19:03Speaker 6: You want to talk to your brother, don't you.
- 19:04Speaker 8: I'll take care of the phone. We're just disconnected.
- 19:07Speaker 6: Fronto.
- 19:10Speaker 12: I got this straight, copper.
- 19:12Speaker 13: I'm through you.
- 19:12Speaker 8: The stinking rotten lion.
- 19:14Speaker 7: I want another one here, and I want to now.
- 19:17Speaker 8: I pretty remember I why I blowed you all up, preachers,
- 19:22Speaker 8: threw that phone out the hole. I did you want
- 19:25Speaker 8: me to go out there and take it up.
- 19:28Speaker 12: That's not gonna get you anyore.
- 19:29Speaker 8: You're a big boss around here to be, are you watch?
- 19:32Speaker 12: I answered you all.
- 19:33Speaker 11: Right, big boy, I got a piece of advice for you.
- 19:35Speaker 11: You take your rookie cops here and get it through
- 19:37Speaker 11: that thick headge. I mean what I say. I want
- 19:40Speaker 11: my brother over here in this room, and you got
- 19:43Speaker 11: just eleven minutes to.
- 19:44Speaker 7: Get it done.
- 19:46Speaker 8: Now you tell them that, will you?
- 19:48Speaker 7: All right?
- 19:49Speaker 8: Conny? Sure? Sure, all right?
- 20:03Speaker 12: We gotta work fast now, Jones, everything except for you.
- 20:05Speaker 8: Get the bucket with the water right here.
- 20:07Speaker 12: Cars waiting down the street, right, ricks and your boys
- 20:09Speaker 12: ready upstairs waiting.
- 20:11Speaker 8: We all know what to do.
- 20:11Speaker 7: I don't need somebody to give me a hand with
- 20:13Speaker 7: Connie when he falls.
- 20:13Speaker 8: I'll be in there with you. Friday, ready to go upstairs.
- 20:15Speaker 8: She anytime. One thing you ought to know?
- 20:18Speaker 11: What's that wind's getting stronger about twenty mile an hour
- 20:20Speaker 11: out there right now.
- 20:21Speaker 8: I'm gonna loss us out.
- 20:22Speaker 6: Nobody's going to increase this way.
- 20:23Speaker 7: You got to allow for it.
- 20:24Speaker 11: What do you mean wind's coming from the south. We'll
- 20:27Speaker 11: lower you just to the right of the window. If
- 20:28Speaker 11: I figure right, the wind will do the rest. Bigger risk.
- 20:31Speaker 11: But we don't control the weather.
- 20:32Speaker 7: How are you going to do it?
- 20:33Speaker 11: Ben?
- 20:33Speaker 9: As soon as I get him position, I'll reach him
- 20:35Speaker 9: through the window on his right and I'll use the
- 20:36Speaker 9: billy try to ketch him on the right side of
- 20:38Speaker 9: the head. One good hitch you but him away, make
- 20:40Speaker 9: it too, and be sure. Huh right, you're ready? Gee,
- 20:42Speaker 9: let's go.
- 20:46Speaker 8: What's the time?
- 20:47Speaker 7: Friday eight fifty.
- 20:48Speaker 13: Shouldn't take Hi more than a couple of minutes for
- 20:50Speaker 13: Ron there to get down to that window, unless the
- 20:52Speaker 13: wind gives him trouble.
- 20:53Speaker 8: John says, no use, you're sticking around.
- 20:54Speaker 6: I'll get Friday, and that's my job.
- 20:56Speaker 9: We got to keep you allowed to decommission a bomb.
- 20:59Speaker 9: Boom Joe see it downstairs? You ready, Lenna, Yeah, scared fuddy?
- 21:11Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 21:12Speaker 8: Thanks you seven?
- 21:13Speaker 4: Come on, Lynn White and I went into the next
- 21:19Speaker 4: room with Vernon Kearney. Ben was going to make a
- 21:21Speaker 4: try from the window on Carnie's right. Somehow he had
- 21:24Speaker 4: to keep his attention on us and away from that window.
- 21:27Speaker 4: If anything went wrong and Cannie got out of position,
- 21:29Speaker 4: the planet failed. Chief Erickson didn't estimate the force of
- 21:32Speaker 4: the wind correctly. The planet failed. I looked at my watch.
- 21:35Speaker 4: It was eight minutes tonight, Cannie.
- 21:36Speaker 12: Anything we can say that'll make you change your mind.
- 21:38Speaker 8: I've asked you one hundred times. Now I'm ordering. They're
- 21:42Speaker 8: going to get to a phone and have somebody send
- 21:44Speaker 8: all it over here right now. I'm through waiting.
- 21:47Speaker 7: Now moved, you ripped the phone out card and find
- 21:49Speaker 7: another one.
- 21:50Speaker 8: I told you, I'm sticking at two bit storm. We've
- 21:52Speaker 8: got until nine o'clock to make up our mind about this.
- 21:54Speaker 8: You had until you wouldn't do what I told you.
- 21:57Speaker 8: Now I'm cutting you short.
- 21:58Speaker 11: You guys got exactly one minute to get upon in
- 22:01Speaker 11: this room, right and hear you call it jail and
- 22:03Speaker 11: have him send Elwood over here.
- 22:04Speaker 7: He said, nine tourney.
- 22:06Speaker 12: All right, Joe. We'll give him money once.
- 22:11Speaker 8: David unlock. If I can go to this office.
- 22:14Speaker 7: I'll get the polom A card.
- 22:18Speaker 8: Reach a minute.
- 22:20Speaker 12: Yeah, your brother's a prisoners in our custoding. He's under
- 22:24Speaker 12: our protection. We can't place his life in Jeopardy.
- 22:26Speaker 8: Way that up to l.
- 22:35Speaker 12: Kenwelly because Lynn White, he went Elwood Corney over here
- 22:39Speaker 12: at city Hall. His brother wants to see him, explain
- 22:42Speaker 12: the situation. If he wants to come get him over here.
- 22:45Speaker 12: Leave it up to him Room sixteen fourteen. You'll have
- 22:47Speaker 12: to use the freight of.
- 22:48Speaker 8: Him and tell him about hurry. Yeah, tell him to hurry.
- 22:53Speaker 8: Oh that's the only smart thing you've done today. I
- 22:57Speaker 8: why don't you go next door and figure in another angle.
- 22:59Speaker 7: We'll wait for Elwood.
- 23:00Speaker 11: You don't think I'll let you get out now to you,
- 23:02Speaker 11: We're all gonna wait right here for my brother.
- 23:03Speaker 8: In case you don't show up, you're gonna see me.
- 23:06Speaker 8: Pull the plug.
- 23:07Speaker 11: Now, sit down, that's so close right where y'are. Sit down,
- 23:17Speaker 11: Love o'clock windows getting cold in.
- 23:25Speaker 8: Maybe I had to close the windows.
- 23:26Speaker 7: Turn on the heat.
- 23:27Speaker 8: Stay, what cop, what's up? What's going on?
- 23:32Speaker 7: It's the wind cut.
- 23:33Speaker 8: Somebody out there and c hisp just stupid cuts.
- 23:37Speaker 7: Pull him up.
- 23:38Speaker 6: You get back to.
- 23:38Speaker 8: Your bully might tell him pull him up.
- 23:43Speaker 15: Hold on, all right, you bet I win, your dumb coppers.
- 23:54Speaker 11: You didn't think I missed a trick like that. Now
- 23:56Speaker 11: we're just close the windows. Boys, it's one and locked.
- 24:01Speaker 12: As your brother Connie.
- 24:04Speaker 8: Yeah, oh yeah, you know I'm right. I did it.
- 24:10Speaker 8: I told you. I told you I do it, didn't
- 24:12Speaker 8: I That's fine enough for the rest of you. Yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 8: you come on over here.
- 24:23Speaker 7: Crazy and you're crazy.
- 24:24Speaker 8: That's what they've been trying to tell me. I'm going home. Now,
- 24:28Speaker 8: how you gonna do it?
- 24:28Speaker 7: There's a million times outside people, I'll ever tell heard
- 24:31Speaker 7: about this.
- 24:31Speaker 8: That holding the con ain't gonna stop us.
- 24:33Speaker 7: Now, you'll never make it, either one of you.
- 24:35Speaker 8: I got him this far, didn't I will make it.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Learn you think we could do it?
- 24:39Speaker 8: Yo?
- 24:39Speaker 11: Yeah, they're going to get a car ready for us,
- 24:42Speaker 11: so fast, have it in front of the building.
- 24:44Speaker 8: Oh all right, Friday, do what he tells you call it.
- 24:48Speaker 11: Yeah, if you went back by nine o'clock, the deal
- 24:50Speaker 11: still holds. I told him I pulled a pin of nine.
- 24:54Speaker 11: Now I say I didn't let you, uh.
- 24:56Speaker 16: Like as it really blow four miles high, bunch of bullets.
- 25:00Speaker 16: We'll get now, all right, Copper, get the car. You
- 25:04Speaker 16: got four minutes? Hey Ben, Ben, what happened is butudon?
- 25:15Speaker 4: Yeah, no time to explain. Now listen, we gotta work fast. Yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 4: we had to bring Carnie's brother over from the jail.
- 25:19Speaker 7: How much time we've got less than four minutes.
- 25:21Speaker 6: How about the ledge?
- 25:21Speaker 7: I think you can do it, strong winds, you let
- 25:23Speaker 7: the hang on like a fly.
- 25:24Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 25:24Speaker 4: I can give it a try. Okay, same plan. Every
- 25:26Speaker 4: second counts. Now I can't briefly in. He's in the
- 25:28Speaker 4: room with the guy. It's up to you and me.
- 25:29Speaker 4: I'll get on the ledge from one of these officers.
- 25:31Speaker 4: Howl will make you if you don't know, you're trying
- 25:32Speaker 4: to hurry Ben, Wait a minute, Yeah, I forgot the
- 25:35Speaker 4: window is the one on his right, he locked it.
- 25:37Speaker 7: You have to crawl around the one on my left.
- 25:38Speaker 6: You got it right, ok.
- 25:44Speaker 7: Car, I'll be ready in two minutes out front.
- 25:46Speaker 11: Why hell, and I'll just share here. Wait, it's gonna
- 25:50Speaker 11: be good being back together.
- 25:51Speaker 8: Well we always were real good together. Oh that's the
- 25:55Speaker 8: way brothers how to be together all the time. You
- 25:58Speaker 8: learned and feel better with it. Then we all need
- 26:00Speaker 8: no gun. We got the bomb.
- 26:02Speaker 6: Neither couldn't really get out to get onto the road.
- 26:06Speaker 8: Okay, take your pick. They all got yo give him your.
- 26:10Speaker 7: I'm not carrying a gun. I left it in the
- 26:11Speaker 7: other room. The cap without a gun.
- 26:14Speaker 8: Who's kidding who?
- 26:15Speaker 7: I left it in the other rooms.
- 26:17Speaker 8: The big boy though, he's got one man.
- 26:21Speaker 11: It's about time for that car, and it's two minutes
- 26:23Speaker 11: to nine.
- 26:25Speaker 8: Yeah, this is I get right in his hip, py
- 26:27Speaker 8: me to joy.
- 26:28Speaker 16: I got it.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Get the boss.
- 26:29Speaker 12: We've got along.
- 26:30Speaker 7: I got it, Ben, I gotta get his hand.
- 26:32Speaker 16: Out of it.
- 26:32Speaker 6: Run. Don't w a rock.
- 26:47Speaker 7: In a fast elevator.
- 26:48Speaker 4: Sixteen floors isn't very much, but I never shared an
- 26:50Speaker 4: elevator with a live bomb. Seemed like hours between floors.
- 26:54Speaker 4: I kept watching the bucket. The bomb was completely underwater.
- 26:58Speaker 4: A small stream of bubbles was hissing to the surface.
- 27:00Speaker 7: I waited mean floor. I picked up the bucket and
- 27:07Speaker 7: ran into the street. I missed the first step.
- 27:10Speaker 8: I fell forward.
- 27:11Speaker 7: The bucket spun out of my hand. I sprawled flat
- 27:13Speaker 7: on the sidewalk. I waited for the explosion.
- 27:21Speaker 6: It didn't go off, fighting, Yeah, I gave it a
- 27:26Speaker 6: good chance.
- 27:26Speaker 13: Lee, it was all there. O. Look at least a
- 27:30Speaker 13: dozen sticks of dynamite. Snyder, bring out over here.
- 27:38Speaker 8: Here.
- 27:39Speaker 12: You're out of ten.
- 27:41Speaker 13: It's why it didn't go off. Yeah, I had it
- 27:44Speaker 13: rigged for a hard trigger pull. Would have taken a
- 27:46Speaker 13: good yank to set this one off.
- 27:50Speaker 6: Hi, Jill, I'm ben. Let me see.
- 28:02Speaker 2: The story you have just heard was true, only the
- 28:05Speaker 2: names were changed to protect the innocent.
- 28:08Speaker 3: On February fifteenth, trial was held in Superior Court, Department
- 28:11Speaker 3: eighty seven, City and County of Los Angeles, State of California.
- 28:14Speaker 8: In a moment the results of that trial.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Vernon Connie was examined by five different psychiatrists appointed by
- 28:26Speaker 3: the Superior Court and found to be mentally incompetent. He
- 28:29Speaker 3: is now confined in the State Mental Institution for the
- 28:32Speaker 3: criminally Insane Elwood. Connie is now serving the balance of
- 28:35Speaker 3: his sentence with no time off for good behavior.
- 28:40Speaker 11: Next Sarah's Private Caper with comittian Sarah Berner on NBC.
- 28:55Speaker 11: This is Andrew J.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Graham, author of the web surface series An Made You're
- 29:01Speaker 3: listening to the Great Detectives of Old Time Radio.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Welcome Back. Well a rare case of script reuse of
- 29:14Speaker 1: outside of the annual Christmas episodes, of course, and certainly
- 29:20Speaker 1: this is a worthy one. This is one of the
- 29:22Speaker 1: best Dragnet stories ever and very high on my list,
- 29:28Speaker 1: and certainly this presentation isn't isn't hurt much. It does
- 29:35Speaker 1: lack Raymond Burr, which the original production as well as
- 29:40Speaker 1: the first television version of this contained. Well that's a slot, mind,
- 29:47Speaker 1: but overall it's still incredibly suspenseful. It definitely was worth
- 29:52Speaker 1: redoing this script to bring it to listeners who, particularly
- 29:58Speaker 1: if they hadn't tuned in in the sustaining days, if
- 30:02Speaker 1: they hadn't heard Dragnet when it was first getting started.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Since you didn't have reruns, performing the script again was
- 30:11Speaker 1: your best option. That said, I did notice a couple
- 30:14Speaker 1: of things here that I didn't quite notice before. One
- 30:18Speaker 1: of these was when Joe Friday comes in and offers
- 30:23Speaker 1: Carneye a cigarette. He's holding a bomb and you offer
- 30:27Speaker 1: him a cigarette. Now I know the tobacco company is
- 30:30Speaker 1: sponsoring the show. That's a bit much. Also, I did
- 30:34Speaker 1: think that the opening narration did kind of overstate the
- 30:39Speaker 1: story a little bit, But I guess as Dragnet generally
- 30:42Speaker 1: didn't go in for sensationalism, I can definitely forgive it,
- 30:45Speaker 1: particularly when it's a story as great as this one,
- 30:48Speaker 1: because they work so much in there, particularly at the
- 30:50Speaker 1: clock in the room and all those little sounds that
- 30:53Speaker 1: just became incredibly suspenseful when set in this situation dealing
- 30:59Speaker 1: with the bomb. All right, well, now we turn to
- 31:02Speaker 1: some listener comments and feedback. Comment by email from Joel
- 31:07Speaker 1: regarding the Big Grab. This episode really hit me emotionally.
- 31:12Speaker 1: The sater scene was so touching and beautifully done. Unusable
- 31:16Speaker 1: for this program. That is just the facts. Great stuff.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Well thanks, Joel. I think the one thing to remember
- 31:25Speaker 1: with Dragnet and its emphasis on emotion is that the
- 31:31Speaker 1: series didn't try and avoid emotion and totality, and it's
- 31:39Speaker 1: probably helpful when thinking about the way Dragnet deals with
- 31:43Speaker 1: it to compare it to other programs where you would
- 31:48Speaker 1: have these sort of archetypal reactions the very grief stricken
- 31:56Speaker 1: spouse particularly while who would just you know, go to
- 32:01Speaker 1: pieces or the femme fatale or the one well, I
- 32:06Speaker 1: don't mind telling you we were only married for money.
- 32:11Speaker 1: You know that, these sort of things when it came
- 32:16Speaker 1: to being factual, the way that dragon that traded these
- 32:20Speaker 1: things is and I think there was a great deal
- 32:24Speaker 1: of realism in the idea that people wouldn't always react predictably,
- 32:29Speaker 1: they wouldn't always react the same way, and they would
- 32:36Speaker 1: react based on their temperament and character. There's one episode
- 32:41Speaker 1: I forget the exact title. I could look it up,
- 32:45Speaker 1: but it's not particularly relevant to the point, but there
- 32:49Speaker 1: was a character who was his ex wife had been
- 32:57Speaker 1: murdered and they were estranged, and she had been a
- 33:02Speaker 1: really bad marriage. She'd been drunk and unfaithful, and yet
- 33:07Speaker 1: there was this reaction, and this emotional response was very
- 33:12Speaker 1: nuanced because he knew all that, but there was still
- 33:16Speaker 1: this grief stricken response that was mixed in with the
- 33:22Speaker 1: anger and the difficulties. It was very nuanced, and I
- 33:25Speaker 1: think it was very realistic. Dragnet didn't try and stop
- 33:30Speaker 1: all emotion when it came to people's reaction. It tried
- 33:34Speaker 1: to do it realistically, and it also tried to use
- 33:39Speaker 1: those moments, those emotional moments carefully, just like it did
- 33:44Speaker 1: when it came to violence. Dragnet, particularly in the early going,
- 33:48Speaker 1: didn't have a lot of gunfights or chases or big
- 33:53Speaker 1: emotional reactions compared to many other shows on the radio.
- 33:56Speaker 1: But the reason it did that it was sparing is
- 34:00Speaker 1: when that it did do that, you really felt the
- 34:03Speaker 1: impact if you were a regular listener to the program,
- 34:06Speaker 1: particularly when a case became so horrific that it was
- 34:11Speaker 1: really affecting to the police because that certainly didn't happen
- 34:16Speaker 1: since they were experienced in so much. But when a
- 34:19Speaker 1: case affects them, like I think the Sullivan kidnapping, it
- 34:23Speaker 1: really just brings it home. Email from Haya and God
- 34:30Speaker 1: Dog Pammy last week's episode is one of my favorites.
- 34:34Speaker 1: The portrayal of the Satar is wonderfully authentic. There's just
- 34:37Speaker 1: one major plot hole. This plot hole is emphasized by
- 34:40Speaker 1: Passover being the important family holiday that it is. How
- 34:44Speaker 1: is it possible that the boy wouldn't know something was
- 34:47Speaker 1: wrong when his mother never showed up to the Satar
- 34:50Speaker 1: and his father seemed to get upset at a random
- 34:52Speaker 1: ritualized question. The whole idea of hiding information from victims
- 34:56Speaker 1: to prevent them from worrying is rather strange construct that
- 35:00Speaker 1: is common to drag it. It actually seems to cause
- 35:03Speaker 1: more anxiety, as perhaps seen in the Gun for Christmas
- 35:07Speaker 1: episode when Friday I Think asked the mother of the
- 35:10Speaker 1: dead boy for his blood type for seemingly no reason.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Even though the issue is never addressed. I do think
- 35:15Speaker 1: that the acting is of such quality that I can
- 35:18Speaker 1: sometimes hear the failure of the strategy and their tone
- 35:21Speaker 1: of voice. Is this done in police work today? I
- 35:26Speaker 1: think that police always do want to be careful in speculating,
- 35:32Speaker 1: in releasing information prematurely. I think in the case of
- 35:38Speaker 1: the satyr, I believe that they had mentioned that she
- 35:43Speaker 1: had gone to be with relatives, which even accepting that
- 35:50Speaker 1: would be kind of an odd thing on the night
- 35:53Speaker 1: of Passover. As to how much the strategy works, well,
- 35:57Speaker 1: they might be underestimating the savvy of the kids in
- 36:01Speaker 1: the case of the big grab, but in the case
- 36:04Speaker 1: of the gun for Christmas episode, I mean, if the
- 36:07Speaker 1: parent's gonna worry about something like that, but if the
- 36:10Speaker 1: parent's child is missing, they're going to worry anyway. And
- 36:15Speaker 1: that's and the reason of course they were asking was
- 36:18Speaker 1: because blood stains were found. And telling the other oh,
- 36:23Speaker 1: we just need your son's blood typs so we can
- 36:26Speaker 1: check against some blood stains is not going to alleviate
- 36:31Speaker 1: their fears. And as Friday said, it may turn it
- 36:34Speaker 1: may have turned out to be, oh, I'm sorry we
- 36:36Speaker 1: sent you into convulsions of tears, but yeah, that this
- 36:40Speaker 1: blood present had nothing to do with the case. And
- 36:44Speaker 1: I think with the police, particularly when it comes to
- 36:47Speaker 1: some of this really tragic news. One thing I always
- 36:51Speaker 1: get a feeling of in Dragnet is there's a hope,
- 36:55Speaker 1: despite experience, that things will turn out all right. There's
- 36:59Speaker 1: a hope that they're not going to have the duty
- 37:03Speaker 1: of telling a parent that their child's not coming home.
- 37:09Speaker 1: We're telling a husband his wife's not coming home. I
- 37:14Speaker 1: think that there's always a sense it's part of the job.
- 37:18Speaker 1: It has to be done, but it's something that they
- 37:21Speaker 1: would rather avoid because it can be just as emotionally
- 37:26Speaker 1: challenging for the officer as it can be for the
- 37:31Speaker 1: family member. Good questions and thanks so much for your contact.
