- 0:26Speaker 2: Here's Johnson. He lost the ball to the stiffer. Still
- 0:29Speaker 2: on the carpet. Eric Stokes on top. A fumble recovered
- 0:35Speaker 2: by the Raiders. Tough battle.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Really good game. Ultimately, you know, turnovers in the fourth
- 0:42Speaker 3: quarter got us, and we're unable to overcome those. These
- 0:45Speaker 3: guys are better than us, and, you know, there's a
- 0:47Speaker 3: lot of good stuff on this film, but ultimately we
- 0:48Speaker 3: didn't get it done collectively.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Gag me with a sweaty tube sock.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Ugh.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Saints lose 35-27 to the Raiders. After you go and
- 1:07Speaker 1: steal one on the road against Baltimore as an eight
- 1:12Speaker 1: and a half point underdog, you come home and you
- 1:18Speaker 1: just hand it right back to the Raiders. A game
- 1:23Speaker 1: where you led by double digits against in the second half,
- 1:31Speaker 1: and you.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Turned the ball over four.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Friggin' times in the fourth quarter. I mean, you just
- 1:39Speaker 1: defecated all over yourself in the fourth quarter. What a collapse, man.
- 1:47Speaker 1: How disheartening.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Look, I.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Certainly thought New Orleans would be one and two through
- 1:56Speaker 1: three games. I thought they'd lose the two road games
- 1:59Speaker 1: and beat the Raiders. But you go and have the
- 2:06Speaker 1: amazing comeback and do all the heavy lifting to get
- 2:11Speaker 1: that road win, only to come home in front of
- 2:14Speaker 1: a bonkers crowd where you build the lead and then
- 2:19Speaker 1: you hand it right back. A team that's been notorious
- 2:21Speaker 1: for starting slow and finish strong did the opposite in
- 2:24Speaker 1: this game. Just an absolute melt. An inexplicable, inexcusable melt
- 2:31Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. I mean, you could not have
- 2:34Speaker 1: had a better sequence to start the second half. I mean, remember,
- 2:41Speaker 1: they're trying to go back-to-back. End of the first half,
- 2:44Speaker 1: start of the second. Because they score right before half
- 2:47Speaker 1: to go up 16-13. They get the ball to start
- 2:49Speaker 1: the second half. Now they're trying to build a two-score lead.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And what does your defense do?
- 2:54Speaker 2: Three and out. Hell yeah. Let's go. Your offense gets
- 2:58Speaker 2: the ball. Boom. Right down the field in the third quarter.
- 3:03Speaker 1: 12 plays, 87 yards, 650 off the clock.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Right up your donkey. Saints lead 20-16. Then what happens?
- 3:13Speaker 1: Ensuing kickoff, you jar the ball loose, you recover, you're
- 3:17Speaker 1: right back in the end zone two plays later. Two plays,
- 3:20Speaker 1: 32 yards, took 47 seconds, the Noah Fant touchdown, and
- 3:25Speaker 1: just like that, you're up 27-16. You got an 11-point lead,
- 3:29Speaker 1: the roof is about to blow off the Superdome, it
- 3:32Speaker 1: could collapse on the Raiders, and then what happens? Five plays,
- 3:39Speaker 1: they score. Even after that, even after that, I don't
- 3:48Speaker 1: feel great, but the offense has been moving all day.
- 3:53Speaker 1: That offensive line has done a fantastic job holding up
- 3:55Speaker 1: against a really elite pass rush from the Raiders without
- 3:59Speaker 1: Kelvin Banks and the Saints punt. And this, to me,
- 4:05Speaker 1: I thought was the game. I thought this was the game.
- 4:08Speaker 1: The Raiders scored. It's a five-point game.
- 4:10Speaker 3: It's 27-22.
- 4:13Speaker 2: You're late in the third.
- 4:15Speaker 1: The Raiders have the ball now with a chance to
- 4:17Speaker 1: go take the lead. And your defense, just like at
- 4:20Speaker 1: the start of the second half, forces a three and out.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I'm going, this is it. This is your chance. You
- 4:24Speaker 1: have your, if I could see a line from Russ Mitchell,
- 4:27Speaker 1: put your foot on his throat and choke him out.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Here's your opportunity. Go back, score, make it a two
- 4:36Speaker 1: score game. Let's go home and celebrate. And my goodness,
- 4:39Speaker 1: Saints are trying. matriculating the ball down the field, nine plays,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and then boom.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Sack fumble.
- 4:53Speaker 1: You had third and four at the Vegas 29-yard line,
- 4:57Speaker 1: sack fumble. Now, this play is going to be the
- 5:02Speaker 1: center of debate for Saints fans, and I get it.
- 5:06Speaker 2: You're upset about this today? I don't blame you one iota.
- 5:10Speaker 2: You should be.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Because we saw an almost mirror image of this play
- 5:15Speaker 1: two weeks ago in Detroit when the Saints had a
- 5:18Speaker 1: defensive score taken off the board because of a cockamamie
- 5:22Speaker 1: rule that we were all told, yeah, but I know
- 5:25Speaker 1: what it looked like, and I know the ball went
- 5:27Speaker 1: backwards 20 yards, but the intent was to throw the
- 5:30Speaker 1: ball forward, and so it's actually an incomplete forward pass.
- 5:35Speaker 2: None of us liked it.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I crapped on it, said it's an awful rule, even
- 5:41Speaker 1: if enforced properly, it needs to change. And the same
- 5:46Speaker 1: stinking thing happens, and it's a fumble. Again, I think
- 5:53Speaker 1: it's a fumble. But so too was the play two
- 5:56Speaker 1: weeks ago. The inconsistencies are the hard things to reconcile. Anyway,
- 6:01Speaker 1: in this moment, you're trying to put the game away. Instead,
- 6:04Speaker 1: they have the ball, new life, and we all know
- 6:06Speaker 1: what happened after that point. After the Saints fumbled, the
- 6:09Speaker 1: Raiders go down and score to take a 28-27 lead,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and the Saints just decided that they were going to
- 6:15Speaker 1: implode and be a team that looked like the Little
- 6:17Speaker 1: Giants or something like that who just never played football before.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I mean, this is how the Saints ended the football
- 6:24Speaker 1: game offensively.
- 6:25Speaker 2: They're serious.
- 6:27Speaker 1: After the touchdown to go up 27-16, punt, fumble, interception, fumble, fumble.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Horrendous.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I'll give you a gigantic positive. I thought this is
- 6:43Speaker 1: the best game I've seen Chris Alave play in his life.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I've been hard on Chris Alave, y'all. I think he's
- 6:49Speaker 1: an outstanding football player. My contention has been he's not
- 6:52Speaker 1: a dominant number one that's worthy of being paid like
- 6:54Speaker 1: the sixth best receiver in the NFL. That's been my contention.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Too many people misconstrue what I'm saying. I've never said
- 6:58Speaker 1: he's bad. I haven't said he's not a great receiver.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I think all those things are true. I said I
- 7:02Speaker 1: wouldn't pay him like the sixth best receiver in the NFL.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That's my point. I don't think that's outlandish. You can
- 7:07Speaker 1: keep all your stat padding games where he gets 15
- 7:09Speaker 1: targets and has a lot of yards.
- 7:10Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I want impactful plays. And in this game, Chris Alave
- 7:14Speaker 1: time and again made impactful plays. And I love to
- 7:17Speaker 1: see that. Please prove me wrong. Prove to me that
- 7:19Speaker 1: you're worth $ 30 million a year.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Please. I want to be wrong on that.
- 7:25Speaker 1: First touchdown drive of the game, third and 11 after
- 7:27Speaker 1: the illegal shift, a lave. Second touchdown drive at the
- 7:30Speaker 1: end of the first half, back-to-back plays, 13 yards, 16 yards, boom, boom, boom,
- 7:34Speaker 1: a lave right down the field. The third quarter touchdown drive,
- 7:39Speaker 1: he makes the reception, gets you down to the one
- 7:41Speaker 1: yard line when they went to Jawan Johnson next. It
- 7:43Speaker 1: looked like maybe he had gotten in, but contested catch
- 7:48Speaker 1: right at the goal line. Love to see it.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Even the play.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Before the fumble in the fourth quarter that we just
- 7:54Speaker 1: talked about where the strip sack fumble, the play before,
- 7:58Speaker 1: right before, or two play, like there were two play
- 8:01Speaker 1: on that drive. He converts a third and five and
- 8:03Speaker 1: the play before was a conversion on third and nine
- 8:05Speaker 1: where they went to a lobby to get the ball
- 8:06Speaker 1: down to the 29 yard line. Please give me impactful plays.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Please continue showing me, yes, $ 31 million receiver.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Great day by Chris Alave. If I'm going to criticize,
- 8:18Speaker 1: I'm going to give Flowers one warranted. Man, was it
- 8:20Speaker 1: warranted yesterday. He was awesome yesterday. What was not awesome
- 8:24Speaker 1: was the offensive collapse late in the game, and that's
- 8:26Speaker 1: the most disappointing. I don't know what the expectation is.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I mean, I know what my expectation was in this game.
- 8:34Speaker 1: It was my concern was that great Raiders pass rush
- 8:37Speaker 1: led by Max Crosby against a Saints offensive.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Line where you lose.
- 8:43Speaker 1: your top 10 draft pick left tackle in Kelvin Banks.
- 8:46Speaker 1: And now Asim Richards is replacing him. And for three quarters,
- 8:50Speaker 1: they held up. For three quarters, they held up. They
- 8:53Speaker 1: kept Tyler Shuck upright, moved the ball down the field,
- 8:56Speaker 1: kept him clean for the most part, did really well.
- 9:00Speaker 1: And then in the fourth quarter, they all sucked. Richards
- 9:04Speaker 1: ends the game allowing six pressures, three hurries, two quarterback hits,
- 9:08Speaker 1: and a sack. And most of it was in the
- 9:10Speaker 1: fourth quarter. Maybe I just look and go, he held
- 9:16Speaker 1: up for as long as he could, and then at
- 9:17Speaker 1: the end, he just wasn't able to do it anymore.
- 9:20Speaker 2: How massively disappointing.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Even the other silver lining I could give you from
- 9:25Speaker 1: this football game is that the Saints rushing offense, which
- 9:28Speaker 1: has been one of the worst in the NFL the
- 9:31Speaker 1: past two years, and even to start this season, the
- 9:33Speaker 1: Saints rushing offense showed up yesterday. 28 carries, 148 yards,
- 9:36Speaker 1: an average of 5.3. That was aided by a 36-yarder,
- 9:41Speaker 1: Tyler Shuck on the first possession, but it's part of
- 9:44Speaker 1: the rushing.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Totally.
- 9:45Speaker 1: You hadn't even had that in the past. That was
- 9:47Speaker 1: Shuck's only rushing attempt of the day, by the way.
- 9:49Speaker 1: But I love to see the fact that you actually
- 9:51Speaker 1: were able to run the ball competently. Travis Aitken, 13
- 9:56Speaker 1: for 57, not awesome, but averaged over four yards a carry. Kamara,
- 10:01Speaker 1: nine for 36, right at four yards a carry. Kendra
- 10:04Speaker 1: Miller had 14 yards rushing on the ground on four attempts.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I mean, you committed to the run and you averaged
- 10:11Speaker 1: as a team over five yards a carry. 148 yards
- 10:14Speaker 1: on the ground on 28 carries. I'll take that on
- 10:16Speaker 1: an NFL Sunday. What sucks is that Travis Aitken went
- 10:20Speaker 1: out with a hamstring injury, and on Monday, Kellen Moore
- 10:26Speaker 1: confirmed that this is not going to be a short-term
- 10:27Speaker 1: thing for Aitken.
- 10:29Speaker 3: We'll see. We're gathering a little bit of information. Travis
- 10:31Speaker 3: will be time loss with the hammy. We'll see ultimately
- 10:34Speaker 3: what that timeline looks like. And then Grando and Jennings,
- 10:38Speaker 3: we'll see how that times out. And then Pete Warner. Obviously,
- 10:41Speaker 3: we have one more day this week, and so we'll
- 10:43Speaker 3: gather a little bit more information.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Another injury to a significant player.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Another soft tissue injury.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Man, it just mounts. It's been mounting since camp, and
- 10:54Speaker 1: this is just so disappointing. The loss is insult to
- 10:57Speaker 1: injury with all these literal injuries here. But you let
- 11:02Speaker 1: one get away, man. You gave one back, and in
- 11:04Speaker 1: this league it's too hard to do. The silver lining
- 11:07Speaker 1: is that the NFC South is the worst division in football.
- 11:11Speaker 1: The Bucs are 0-3 and Baker Mayfield's hurt. Atlanta and
- 11:14Speaker 1: Carolina are both 1-2, so you're tied right now at
- 11:17Speaker 1: 1-2 for the division lead. And I just can't help
- 11:21Speaker 1: but think if this comes down to an 8-9, 9-8
- 11:24Speaker 1: situation at the end of the year, we're not going
- 11:27Speaker 1: to look back at this game and go, that's the
- 11:30Speaker 1: one you let get away that cost you.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I hope it doesn't.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I hope they learn from this, they catch fire, and
- 11:35Speaker 1: they go on a run. But these are the types
- 11:38Speaker 1: of games where it's so hard to win in the
- 11:40Speaker 1: NFL that and you're at home with an 11-point lead
- 11:44Speaker 1: in the second half, and you have them on the ropes,
- 11:46Speaker 1: and you implode. Those are the ones that you look
- 11:48Speaker 1: back on at the end of the season and go,
- 11:51Speaker 1: that's the one that cost us from getting to wherever
- 11:53Speaker 1: our goal is going to be. I hope it doesn't
- 11:55Speaker 1: happen that way for New Orleans, but my goodness, what
- 11:58Speaker 1: an incredibly disappointing day in the Superdome for the Saints,
- 12:02Speaker 1: losing to the Raiders 35-27. Now, you've got to pick
- 12:05Speaker 1: yourself up. Monday night football against the Falcons. We just
- 12:07Speaker 1: talked about how bad this division is. What if it
- 12:09Speaker 1: comes down to division tiebreakers? You've got to win your
- 12:11Speaker 1: division games. You've got a bad Atlanta team that's going
- 12:14Speaker 1: to be on extra rest because they played Thursday night.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Atlanta's got a long week, extra rest, almost like a
- 12:19Speaker 1: mini-bye coming to New Orleans for Monday night football.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Better show up in a big way and go get
- 12:23Speaker 2: that one done.
