- 0:03Speaker 1: Good morning sunshine.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Shock circuit with Sonia and Joakim on 987. Can't believe
- 0:10Speaker 1: it's the 19th of October and um it's good to
- 0:12Speaker 1: be back. I'm sorry I left you alone for the
- 0:14Speaker 1: past two days. Hey, you know what, no worries. The
- 0:17Speaker 1: haze was in maybe the 200+ range last week. I know.
- 0:21Speaker 1: But can I just say this? Yesterday night while I
- 0:24Speaker 1: was walking around Bishan with my mom and I looked
- 0:27Speaker 1: up at the skies, right? It was better, right? It's
- 0:29Speaker 1: the clearest.
- 0:30Speaker 1: I've seen the air yeah yeah yeah yeah in the
- 0:33Speaker 1: last maybe say 10 days or so. Yeah, I was
- 0:36Speaker 1: gonna say the same. So my mom was telling me, oh,
- 0:39Speaker 1: I can finally bring Maxi for like a longer walk. Oh,
- 0:42Speaker 1: that's nice because you know it's it's harmful for your
- 0:44Speaker 1: pets too that there have been some articles that came
- 0:46Speaker 1: out already and that's why I was wondering how our
- 0:49Speaker 1: friends at Mandai Wildlife Reserve how are they doing.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I, I think they're doing the best they can because
- 0:57Speaker 1: how can you can't like relocate the animals into aircon room, right?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Speaking of animals, I don't know if this video is
- 1:04Speaker 1: AI or not, but there was a video circulating on
- 1:07Speaker 1: social media where I think they took it from one
- 1:09Speaker 1: of the forest fires in Indonesia where you can see
- 1:13Speaker 1: an orangutan, I don't think it's AI the orangutan was
- 1:18Speaker 1: hugging the keepers and just a baby was crying.
- 1:22Speaker 1: For help and in pain. I don't think it's AI
- 1:24Speaker 1: because if I'm not wrong, the same clip was reposted
- 1:27Speaker 1: on like BBC or something. So I, I have faith
- 1:30Speaker 1: they must have verified it. There needs to be an
- 1:33Speaker 1: AI detector, you know, some videos I'm watching now, I'm
- 1:37Speaker 1: like OK, so here's the interesting thing, right? Like one
- 1:39Speaker 1: of my friends is a writer. OK, this is a
- 1:42Speaker 1: bit off tangent, but he's a writer and um he's
- 1:45Speaker 1: applying for a new job. So he wrote like an
- 1:47Speaker 1: essay or he had to write something, OK.
- 1:50Speaker 1: So, just out of curiosity, he decided to run his
- 1:52Speaker 1: essay through like an AI checker, and they they they
- 1:55Speaker 1: exist online. You can run your work through AI checkers.
- 1:59Speaker 1: And it flagged up that um 28% of his work
- 2:03Speaker 1: was AI when he wrote everything. So here's the question, right?
- 2:07Speaker 1: AI pulls from material that's already existing on the internet.
- 2:13Speaker 1: So if you've already written, let's say in his case,
- 2:15Speaker 1: he's already written like quite a number of articles in
- 2:17Speaker 1: the past. Do you think it's pulling from his previous
- 2:20Speaker 1: articles and then saying that, 00, you use the, you're
- 2:24Speaker 1: you're you're faking your essay, you know what I mean?
- 2:26Speaker 1: AI telling you you're faking your own work. Exactly. So, no,
- 2:30Speaker 1: that that was our conclusion. We were like, it must
- 2:32Speaker 1: be because he, he published a lot of articles previously, so.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yeah, weird times. We go from AI to real life.
- 2:39Speaker 1: What a show we got lined up for you because
- 2:41Speaker 1: at just past 9 a.m. one of my friends is
- 2:45Speaker 1: coming on the show actually. The queen will be joining us,
- 2:48Speaker 1: Dinesh himself, the man who danced next to Zara Larsson.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And you know what, he's got a lot to fill
- 2:54Speaker 1: you in on, on pursuing his career in LA also
- 2:57Speaker 1: and can't wait to.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Probably catch up with him on air. It's something that
- 3:01Speaker 1: I don't have the major FOO spirit thingy, but when
- 3:05Speaker 1: I looked, I thought you wanted me to list all
- 3:07Speaker 1: the things that you don't have, OK, when I was
- 3:10Speaker 1: on social media and looking at Insta stories and TikTok, wow,
- 3:15Speaker 1: the amount of Big Bang concert videos. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 3:18Speaker 1: and not just the NCT.
- 3:20Speaker 1: We were in town as well. Was it the same
- 3:22Speaker 1: night at the indoor stadium? Oh no. So you know what,
- 3:26Speaker 1: well done to our friends over at SMRT and the Kallang,
- 3:29Speaker 1: because usually after the concert, that's where the crowd really
- 3:33Speaker 1: builds before they go into stadium MRT or maybe even
- 3:36Speaker 1: Tanjong R or Kallang MRT station. But I think, um,
- 3:40Speaker 1: two very different crowds, although.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You know how Big Bang is like a legend in K-pop, right?
- 3:46Speaker 1: They're like legendary and they appeal to people who are
- 3:51Speaker 1: fans back in the day, like in the early 2010s
- 3:55Speaker 1: or even was it 2010s? I think early 2010s, right? Yeah,
- 3:58Speaker 1: about 10 years ago.
- 3:59Speaker 1: And they also appeal to the new, new age K-pop
- 4:02Speaker 1: fans because basically your current K-pop idols idolize Big Bang,
- 4:07Speaker 1: if you get what I mean. I mean they were
- 4:09Speaker 1: the makers. They were, they were the ones who paved
- 4:10Speaker 1: the way, makers. That's a TV show. No, that's a
- 4:19Speaker 1: new government task force.
- 4:22Speaker 1: The path makers. Correct. So, like I mentioned earlier, people
- 4:26Speaker 1: have gotten very creative when it comes to um still
- 4:28Speaker 1: clocking in your steps or getting your runs in with
- 4:32Speaker 1: your run club because um over the past week or so,
- 4:35Speaker 1: I think, you know, we were advised to keep our
- 4:37Speaker 1: outdoor activity as minimal as possible, um just in case,
- 4:41Speaker 1: you know, you don't want to get sick or anything.
- 4:42Speaker 1: But these athletic groups, some of them have gotten very creative.
- 4:46Speaker 1: They decided, you know what, I've got an idea to
- 4:48Speaker 1: avoid the haze. I'm going to run indoors at the
- 4:51Speaker 1: shopping mall before on hours. But before you jump to
- 4:55Speaker 1: conclusions and think like, oh, they did it, like anyhow
- 4:58Speaker 1: just went and did it. Can I just go and
- 4:59Speaker 1: do it too? No, they actually got the permission, um,
- 5:02Speaker 1: they got.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Permission from the mall first to do that. So, one
- 5:06Speaker 1: participant actually clocked about 19 kilometers. Another one ran a
- 5:11Speaker 1: half marathon. That's 21 km by the way. Um, they
- 5:15Speaker 1: took their run indoors at Marina Square on, uh, just
- 5:19Speaker 1: two days ago, actually on the 17th before opening hours,
- 5:21Speaker 1: so it still looked a little bit dark, but
- 5:23Speaker 1: Um, they ran an empty mall past the shops that
- 5:25Speaker 1: were not even open just yet. Actually, it was quite cute,
- 5:27Speaker 1: to be honest. Actually, if you think about it, the
- 5:30Speaker 1: mall here in Singapore.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Uh, that up and down if they allow it or
- 5:37Speaker 1: Suntec City. Oh yeah, true, true is a really big
- 5:40Speaker 1: one too from the convention center all the way to
- 5:42Speaker 1: the end tower up and down. How about Vivo City?
- 5:46Speaker 1: That's pretty big too, right? If you, if you run
- 5:49Speaker 1: the parameter of Vivo City, it's quite big as well.
- 5:52Speaker 1: What other malls will be good for this?
- 5:56Speaker 1: I don't know, man. Um, I, no, Ion is smaller.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Ion feels smaller than Vivo. Ion is a stair stairs,
- 6:05Speaker 1: up and down, up. No, that one is, um, that
- 6:07Speaker 1: one has to be Swiss Hotel already. That's the one
- 6:09Speaker 1: where they do that vertical marathon thing, yeah, used to
- 6:12Speaker 1: do it rather. I mean, the one mall I don't
- 6:13Speaker 1: want to run it is Next. I'll get lost.
- 6:17Speaker 1: I, I, I won't be able to find my way
- 6:19Speaker 1: back to my car. Next Point City. There you go. Anyway, so, um,
- 6:24Speaker 1: now apparently this group called X Run, they're going to
- 6:27Speaker 1: organize weekly runs at Marina Square every Saturday at 7:00 a.m. now.
- 6:31Speaker 1: So I'm, I'm expecting the group to grow. I mean,
- 6:33Speaker 1: for as long as the haze persists, and for the
- 6:36Speaker 1: very first time in gyms here in Singapore, there's actually
- 6:39Speaker 1: a queue for the treadmill. 000 really? There's a queue. Yeah,
- 6:43Speaker 1: people are using their shoes to choke their sports for
- 6:46Speaker 1: the treadmill, don't do that.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Why would you do that? I mean, because if you,
- 6:49Speaker 1: if you're gonna stand there and wait for the longest time,
- 6:52Speaker 1: it might, um, obstruct traffic in the gym, right? So
- 6:55Speaker 1: I guess they put their shoes quite near the edge
- 6:56Speaker 1: of the treadmill to show that, OK, I'm next. I'm next,
- 6:58Speaker 1: I'm next. they're gonna need some. Yeah, so I wonder
- 7:02Speaker 1: what the signups are for the Anytime Fitness or 24/7
- 7:06Speaker 1: gyms here in Singapore because with the haze, I'm very
- 7:08Speaker 1: sure signups at an all-time high for for people who
- 7:11Speaker 1: want to use the treadmill. OK, so in case you
- 7:14Speaker 1: didn't hear.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yet, but I'm pretty sure the girls from the school
- 7:17Speaker 1: heard from their teachers already because they're in, they should
- 7:19Speaker 1: be into their like post-exam activities right now. Nice. Saint Anthony's,
- 7:24Speaker 1: we're coming to you later on. I'm, I'm actually very
- 7:27Speaker 1: excited because this is my first time. Yeah, it is
- 7:30Speaker 1: going back to your secondary school with you. So this
- 7:33Speaker 1: is actually the first time 987 is going to Saint
- 7:38Speaker 1: Anthony's for a school invasion. Oh wow. So the previous
- 7:41Speaker 1: times that I went there, I went there.
- 7:42Speaker 1: On my own accord, like as an alumni, and it
- 7:45Speaker 1: was for like career week, you know, that kind of stuff. So.
- 7:49Speaker 1: So but it was so cute because even though, I mean,
- 7:51Speaker 1: I want to show you around the school, but I
- 7:53Speaker 1: will say first, this wasn't the, the school that I
- 7:57Speaker 1: went to in a way because they have upgraded a
- 8:00Speaker 1: lot ever since. So even though there are certain areas
- 8:03Speaker 1: that still look very similar to me and very familiar, um,
- 8:06Speaker 1: a lot of the design has changed since then.
- 8:09Speaker 1: To the teachers or principal of Saint Anthony's Kenosian Secondary School,
- 8:13Speaker 1: can I ask for a favor? Can you all stand
- 8:15Speaker 1: by your school blazer? I want to see if it
- 8:18Speaker 1: fits Sonia, and then you need to recreate that picture. Yeah,
- 8:22Speaker 1: I know which picture you're talking. The one where I'm
- 8:24Speaker 1: wearing braces, right? Yes, please recreate it if there's the
- 8:28Speaker 1: same door or the.
- 8:29Speaker 1: No, that will not be that wasn't in my, that
- 8:32Speaker 1: wasn't taken in my school. It was like um, I,
- 8:35Speaker 1: I remember this, I think if I'm not wrong, it
- 8:38Speaker 1: was like a debate tournament. It was somewhere else. Yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 1: but that jacket, I don't think I have it anymore.
- 8:44Speaker 1: It's probably returned. You know, because it's my first time
- 8:47Speaker 1: going with you, I want to document this and make
- 8:48Speaker 1: a video.
- 8:51Speaker 1: I have plenty of videos from Saint Anthony's and I've
- 8:54Speaker 1: been there like quite a number of times. That's you,
- 8:56Speaker 1: not me. It's my first time. I want to remember it. Oh,
- 8:58Speaker 1: and who better to show me around than Sonny Chew. Yes, yes,
- 9:02Speaker 1: I will show you around later on and maybe get
- 9:04Speaker 1: some canteen food or something. Yes, please. Thank you. Anyway, um,
- 9:07Speaker 1: the girls of Saint Anthony's, we're gonna be with you this, uh,
- 9:11Speaker 1: noon actually. What do you call yourselves? SACNs SANs.
- 9:15Speaker 1: That's what I don't know, yeah, SAC, so it's like
- 9:19Speaker 1: sanity excursion, right? So SA SAC, yeah, sounds like assassins,
- 9:24Speaker 1: but I think that's why they still call themselves. Bit
- 9:26Speaker 1: of an international tea for you, OK, and this one's
- 9:30Speaker 1: quite spicy. It really sounds like one of those spy
- 9:34Speaker 1: films or espionage films that you might like to enjoy
- 9:37Speaker 1: on Netflix or whichever platform you're on.
- 9:40Speaker 1: This one involves Chinese-made cars like EVs, yeah, I mean
- 9:45Speaker 1: whichever EV or or petrol car whatsoever and Norwegian military exercises.
- 9:53Speaker 1: What's the link? So apparently our friends over at Norway
- 9:56Speaker 1: rented Chinese-made cars for their military exercises. They discovered that
- 10:03Speaker 1: these cars were recording sensitive information.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Like access codes and all that. I'm not too sure. I,
- 10:10Speaker 1: I mean, I, I wish I owned an EV made
- 10:12Speaker 1: from China to understand how the recording system works, but, uh, yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 1: there's one quite prominent brand that we all know, yeah, uh,
- 10:21Speaker 1: so I don't want to mention it on air just
- 10:22Speaker 1: in case, but in the article it lists a couple
- 10:25Speaker 1: of brands that they rented from, and they, they spoke
- 10:28Speaker 1: to a representative and they said, yeah, we found.
- 10:30Speaker 1: found out that they were recording sensitive info during our training.
- 10:33Speaker 1: But the thing is, aren't, OK, I, I'm not entirely
- 10:38Speaker 1: familiar with this, aren't most cars equipped with a recording
- 10:44Speaker 1: device now? As in it's just installed, right? Could it
- 10:47Speaker 1: be the case where it was unintended, but it looks
- 10:50Speaker 1: like it was intended or do you think there's something
- 10:54Speaker 1: deeper there?
- 10:54Speaker 1: Whether it's been shared with a third party or if
- 10:56Speaker 1: there's like a database, for example, this car's brand, right,
- 11:00Speaker 1: whatever it is recorded is sent to the main channel
- 11:02Speaker 1: or the main database or whatsoever, but after this security breach,
- 11:06Speaker 1: I think the Norwegian military will now rent cars, but
- 11:09Speaker 1: they will remove all the recording devices and the cameras.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I mean, look, OK, having driven an EV for some
- 11:15Speaker 1: time now, almost a year already, um.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I do know that aside from the fact that yes,
- 11:21Speaker 1: it's got a dashboard cam installed, there's actually a camera
- 11:24Speaker 1: on my steering wheel that's pointed at me.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I don't know if you've heard of this before, but anyway, um,
- 11:31Speaker 1: it is supposed to be a sensor to sense if
- 11:33Speaker 1: the driver's alert and awake. It's a safety feature. So,
- 11:37Speaker 1: if I happen to yawn, or my eyes are like semi-closing,
- 11:41Speaker 1: it will immediately send me an alert, which personally I
- 11:44Speaker 1: find very useful because when you're driving long distances or
- 11:47Speaker 1: when you're very tired, right, sometimes, you know, you go
- 11:50Speaker 1: through a tunnel and it's like, I don't know, 15
- 11:52Speaker 1: minutes long or something.
- 11:54Speaker 1: It's, it's good sometimes if you like doze off a bit,
- 11:56Speaker 1: it like, you know, alerts you if you doze off.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Here comes. Skeptical. You know how all of us or
- 12:03Speaker 1: most of us might put a black tape on our
- 12:05Speaker 1: laptop camera? Should we do the same with these kind
- 12:08Speaker 1: of sensors to be, you know, to be safe because
- 12:10Speaker 1: technically you can turn it off if you don't want
- 12:12Speaker 1: it because there's a red light indicator that is on.
- 12:15Speaker 1: So you can, you can turn it off if you wish.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Can you imagine a hacker who knows how to drive?
- 12:20Speaker 1: I've been, you know. There's nothing going on there to
- 12:27Speaker 1: be very honest. She's playing this song again. I'm bored.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I'm bored.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Give us something more exciting. OK, so over the weekends,
- 12:38Speaker 1: this popped up and uh some news channels have actually
- 12:41Speaker 1: covered it already. I was on the fence of um
- 12:45Speaker 1: categorizing it as Bordo crime because technically they haven't been
- 12:49Speaker 1: open inverted commas dealt with just yet. It's still under investigation.
- 12:53Speaker 1: It's a, yes, so, so it, however,
- 12:57Speaker 1: These boys actually posted the evidence on their own page lah,
- 13:00Speaker 1: so this one is, I can't help them there. Wait,
- 13:02Speaker 1: you said. Yes, so two youths, they decided to go
- 13:08Speaker 1: fishing at a prohibited area. I was gonna say, can
- 13:12Speaker 1: I guess what the boys were doing? I was gonna
- 13:14Speaker 1: ask you how young are they and then maybe in
- 13:19Speaker 1: their teenage years. You know, for some reason, like a
- 13:22Speaker 1: lot of teenage boys like fishing.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Did you, did you like fishing? No, no, I, I
- 13:29Speaker 1: never liked looking at. Oh yeah, in general, you don't
- 13:31Speaker 1: like an immense fear. I feel like uncomfortable. Yeah, so
- 13:37Speaker 1: when you order fish actually you don't really order fish
- 13:40Speaker 1: at any restaurant, but you will not eat it as
- 13:43Speaker 1: a whole like that. Yeah, if you steam.
- 13:46Speaker 1: You're not into that, right? Yeah. Um, anyway, so this
- 13:50Speaker 1: isn't the first time that, um, people have been caught
- 13:54Speaker 1: fishing at prohibited areas. This time around, it was, you
- 13:57Speaker 1: know where Louis Vuitton is at Marina Bay Sands, the, that,
- 14:02Speaker 1: that island looking building, right? So, so they fished at
- 14:06Speaker 1: that area.
- 14:08Speaker 1: At that exact area and they actually caught a beautiful
- 14:11Speaker 1: fish and it was quite big, to be honest, to
- 14:14Speaker 1: which I felt quite pain because, you know, who knows
- 14:16Speaker 1: the reasons why you're, you're not allowed to fish in
- 14:18Speaker 1: that area. It could be like protecting certain species. I mean,
- 14:21Speaker 1: I don't know about that. I'm not an expert. Was
- 14:24Speaker 1: it a catch and release? Yeah, so I can only hope.
- 14:27Speaker 1: That it was, um, they filmed it, they took a
- 14:30Speaker 1: picture with it. They didn't really, they didn't really say
- 14:33Speaker 1: what happened after that. So I think they're being investigated
- 14:35Speaker 1: right now. Yeah, I don't see any information about it
- 14:38Speaker 1: being released back into the river. Again, not just the
- 14:43Speaker 1: Marina Bay Sands area, but even at
- 14:47Speaker 1: When I run at Bishan and I cross the bridge
- 14:50Speaker 1: going towards Toa Payoh, there's a canal there as well,
- 14:54Speaker 1: and there's a clear sign that says no fishing is allowed.
- 14:57Speaker 1: But whenever I run during sunset, I'll see some boys fishing,
- 15:00Speaker 1: and I'm right, right where the sign is, right? And
- 15:03Speaker 1: then I'm torn between two worlds, or three rather. The
- 15:06Speaker 1: first one is Mind my own business. Then don't even
- 15:09Speaker 1: say anything. The second one is say, Hey guys, better
- 15:12Speaker 1: not let they catch you. Or third, enjoy the fact
- 15:15Speaker 1: that our youth are fishing again.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Yeah, but, yeah, exactly, exactly. So what does this, what
- 15:22Speaker 1: does this say? Is the sign not big enough? Because previously,
- 15:26Speaker 1: if you recall, there was another case of two teenage boys, um,
- 15:29Speaker 1: fishing and they did it right in front of the
- 15:33Speaker 1: no fishing sign, which is also near the Marina Bay area.
- 15:36Speaker 1: There are areas here in Singapore where you can just
- 15:38Speaker 1: go towards those areas. Yeah, you know, frankly, I tried
- 15:43Speaker 1: fishing before.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Um, overseas as well, and I hated it because I don't,
- 15:49Speaker 1: I don't like the fact that I hook a fish
- 15:52Speaker 1: and it's, I don't know, it must be hurting, right?
- 15:55Speaker 1: And then even if you release it, it takes time
- 15:57Speaker 1: to heal. I can't do it, I can't do it,
- 15:58Speaker 1: I can't do it.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I really cannot. I don't know. It makes me cringe.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Anything to it. My, my parents used to tell me
- 16:10Speaker 1: that back in the day, back in their day when
- 16:13Speaker 1: they were in school, they used to have to cut
- 16:15Speaker 1: up frogs in biology. Like they cut up frogs, I didn't,
- 16:20Speaker 1: I didn't like when I did biology, it didn't happen
- 16:23Speaker 1: for me. I think they probably phased it out a
- 16:24Speaker 1: long time ago, but I can't imagine having to do that.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I will freak out.
- 16:29Speaker 1: I will literally freak out. I don't, I cannot. And
- 16:31Speaker 1: that's why you're not a doctor. OK.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Doctor, different though. You're like saving lives. I mean, if
- 16:38Speaker 1: you can't cut up a frog which is very small,
- 16:42Speaker 1: can you do the same for a human to operate
- 16:44Speaker 1: on them? I think I can. I can watch Grey's
- 16:46Speaker 1: Anatomy while eating my dinner. The only thing about you
- 16:49Speaker 1: is your handwriting.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Don't be rude. You might be talking to a future
- 16:53Speaker 1: genius here. So in India, an influencer is getting pranked
- 16:59Speaker 1: by his followers, and this is why you should never
- 17:02Speaker 1: ever do this, whether you're a public personality or an
- 17:04Speaker 1: everyday person, you should never ever reveal your address, your full.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Address. Why would you do yourself? Your full address on
- 17:13Speaker 1: social media. So he was saying, Hey, you know what guys,
- 17:15Speaker 1: Deepavali is coming soon. I'm hoping for my followers. Can
- 17:18Speaker 1: you all send me some sweets, you know, as apavali gift, OK.
- 17:23Speaker 1: He asked them to send him, send him sweets and
- 17:26Speaker 1: some Depavali gifts and all that.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Uh, his followers, who are a bunch of trolls as well,
- 17:32Speaker 1: have started to send him cash on delivery order items.
- 17:35Speaker 1: That means he must pay. So they sent him food
- 17:38Speaker 1: that he has to pay for. They sent him a television,
- 17:41Speaker 1: all sorts of other electronics, and apparently, you know, in
- 17:44Speaker 1: the latest video he posted, somebody ordered an excavator. No, dude,
- 17:50Speaker 1: that's hilarious.
- 17:51Speaker 1: And I'm not too sure whether this is Photoshopped, but
- 17:54Speaker 1: somebody apparently ordered a tank to be delivered to his
- 17:57Speaker 1: house to be Photoshopped. You never know. So he was saying, Guys,
- 18:00Speaker 1: why are you doing this to me? Ah, I cannot
- 18:02Speaker 1: take it if I'm gonna leave my house. So apparently
- 18:04Speaker 1: when Indian media went to his place, they found it
- 18:06Speaker 1: padlocked and all that, and his neighbors confirmed that he's
- 18:08Speaker 1: left town. So then what happened to all the items,
- 18:12Speaker 1: I guess they have to, so the delivery men are,
- 18:14Speaker 1: are quite.
- 18:16Speaker 1: How, how do I say this, they have been very
- 18:18Speaker 1: inconvenienced by this because they ride long distances to go
- 18:22Speaker 1: to where he lives to make the delivery, and he
- 18:23Speaker 1: can't pay for it. And how would the delivery men
- 18:26Speaker 1: or women earn their keep, right? It's down to the
- 18:30Speaker 1: prankers to pay for it.
- 18:33Speaker 1: So, please, no matter what circumstance, do not reveal your
- 18:36Speaker 1: address to anyone, especially on social media. I mean, not
- 18:39Speaker 1: at all, not even carpet number just bleep it out,
- 18:42Speaker 1: you know. Actually, yeah, that could be an unintentional form
- 18:46Speaker 1: of doxing and you can, it can.
- 18:49Speaker 1: To your address. It could, it could. So safe to
- 18:51Speaker 1: say we've kind of gone into D&D season already, it
- 18:55Speaker 1: being October. I think every single company is throwing a
- 18:58Speaker 1: D&D somehow. Yeah, actually, the first one that I did,
- 19:01Speaker 1: believe it or not, was at the end of August.
- 19:04Speaker 1: That was like the earliest D&D I've ever done. OK,
- 19:06Speaker 1: they have it. They have it earlier, yeah, before everyone
- 19:09Speaker 1: does it. That was the strategy the ballrooms could be
- 19:11Speaker 1: quite tough to book. Yeah, true facts. But anyway, it
- 19:14Speaker 1: got us thinking also because do you realize that it's
- 19:17Speaker 1: been a while since Media Corp has done any sort
- 19:19Speaker 1: of D&D? Like, OK, the thing is that we are
- 19:23Speaker 1: so involved in other people's D&Ds, but our own company,
- 19:26Speaker 1: maybe we're like fatigued already from.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Doing things for other companies that we don't even have
- 19:31Speaker 1: our own D&D actually. I mean, for the other departments,
- 19:34Speaker 1: maybe they'll be there, but for the talent department, maybe
- 19:38Speaker 1: some people could be on shoot, some could be on gigs.
- 19:41Speaker 1: So when was the last time we had D&D? OK,
- 19:44Speaker 1: we have, can you even name?
- 19:46Speaker 1: OK, as a whole company we used to, but I
- 19:51Speaker 1: don't know anymore because not in, not in the time
- 19:54Speaker 1: that we've been here. We have gatherings. Yeah, but that's
- 19:58Speaker 1: that's not D&D scale, right? And the only times that
- 20:01Speaker 1: we do that is when
- 20:02Speaker 1: OK, maybe CNY we hosted to invite clients. OK, so, so,
- 20:07Speaker 1: so we're talking about Marina Bay Sands Media Corp, just
- 20:10Speaker 1: Media Corp, like nothing related to clients. We haven't done
- 20:14Speaker 1: that in the entirety of the time that we've been here,
- 20:17Speaker 1: but
- 20:17Speaker 1: You know, every time Joakim and I do certain D&Ds,
- 20:20Speaker 1: especially with, you know, um, a lot of very big
- 20:22Speaker 1: companies who are like, what, a few 1000 people strong, right? Um, typically,
- 20:27Speaker 1: if it's over at a place like Marina Bay Convention
- 20:29Speaker 1: Center or something, um, there usually is a partnership with Marquee,
- 20:33Speaker 1: and then they will offer a free entry for, you know, the,
- 20:36Speaker 1: the guests to go. And actually sometimes when you come
- 20:39Speaker 1: down from the convention center, you will see the marquee bouncers.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Or the door people actually there with the stamp like
- 20:45Speaker 1: waiting for you whenever we make the announcement on stage saying,
- 20:49Speaker 1: hey guys, guess what, free entry to cheers, and it
- 20:55Speaker 1: always gets us thinking, so do the bosses usually go
- 20:59Speaker 1: and attend with you so they can, you know, if
- 21:02Speaker 1: you want to lead by example. Yeah, and some bosses
- 21:06Speaker 1: actually offer to pay for a table.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I've seen that before, that bonus, but, but here's the
- 21:13Speaker 1: thing and you know me.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Do I really want to party?
- 21:20Speaker 1: I, you don't even need to finish that sentence, Joakim. Like,
- 21:23Speaker 1: I mean, do I really want to party with my boss?
- 21:26Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever seen Joakim party with our boss. God, lah.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I mean, during our 987 gatherings and all that, once
- 21:32Speaker 1: we finished after that, after that you because I'm tired.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I want to go home and sleep or game or rest.
- 21:38Speaker 1: OK, OK, I get you, I get you, but yeah, I, I,
- 21:41Speaker 1: I realized that even at the D&D setting itself, right,
- 21:45Speaker 1: there are some tables where they are really lively bosses
- 21:49Speaker 1: and characters and all that, but then there are other
- 21:50Speaker 1: tables where they are really sitting on the school principal
- 21:54Speaker 1: is with them, you know, it depends on the.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Character of the boss and the dynamic that you have
- 22:00Speaker 1: with your team also, I guess. I don't know. Would
- 22:02Speaker 1: you party with our bosses? I have. OK. I have actually, yeah,
- 22:07Speaker 1: I have partied with our bosses. I was there. What?
- 22:10Speaker 1: Which one? When, OK, this is uh outing boss Janice here. OK.
- 22:15Speaker 1: There was one night Avery.
- 22:17Speaker 1: feeding her shots and we were all there at Wali
- 22:19Speaker 1: when he was still around. That was the one time
- 22:21Speaker 1: that you were there, the one time that Joakim was there, man.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I mean, I can come with one hand. OK, let's
- 22:27Speaker 1: just put it that way. Then again, our good friend
- 22:29Speaker 1: Avery will party with anyone, so there you go. Facts.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Give us a call 669-11987.
- 22:36Speaker 1: And tell us, would you party with your boss, like
- 22:39Speaker 1: in whatever setting? Let's say it's a D&D, they, you know,
- 22:43Speaker 1: I don't want to use the word pressure, but they suggest,
- 22:45Speaker 1: let's go for an after party or a random weekend.
- 22:48Speaker 1: They're like, OK, the whole company goes. You can remain
- 22:51Speaker 1: anonymous if you want to. 669-11987 or WhatsApp us at 90050987.
- 22:58Speaker 1: So on the topic of partying with your bosses.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Managers or even your HR team, company D&Ds or the
- 23:07Speaker 1: after parties, are you for it? Like, would you go
- 23:10Speaker 1: and party with them, or would you like, hey guys,
- 23:12Speaker 1: we are all colleagues, right? Let's go to another place
- 23:15Speaker 1: away from the bosses and the HR people. Look, I
- 23:19Speaker 1: understand like how it can be awkward also for your
- 23:23Speaker 1: manager and your boss, you see, because they, they do
- 23:26Speaker 1: have a certain level of authority still, and they.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Maybe they come from a headspace where like I cannot
- 23:30Speaker 1: let loose so easily. Like I still need to maintain
- 23:33Speaker 1: some sort of, you know, image. Yeah, and also. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Don't be surprised if your boss might not even know
- 23:40Speaker 1: your name, but that's the thing, it's a big company.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I do know some.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Managers and bosses who actually maintain quite a good like
- 23:47Speaker 1: friendship with their team. So the team still like finds
- 23:49Speaker 1: them cool but they managed to find that balance, which
- 23:53Speaker 1: I think is really ideal. OK, so we have a
- 23:55Speaker 1: text coming in at 90050987 WL. WL says, Hey guys,
- 24:02Speaker 1: depends on the character of the boss. Some bossy bosses
- 24:06Speaker 1: just want to exert their authority.
- 24:09Speaker 1: As a boss and want to win every conversation if
- 24:13Speaker 1: that's the case, the conversation feels like superior to subordinate relationship,
- 24:17Speaker 1: which is quite sen. I'll try to avoid that. Some
- 24:20Speaker 1: fun bosses are a different story though, fun to be
- 24:22Speaker 1: around work or non-work related. These are like the gems, man.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Like it's the ones that manage to find the balance.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Keep them, keep them, and hopefully they stay in your
- 24:32Speaker 1: company for as long as they can with them, yeah.
- 24:34Speaker 1: The calls coming in over at 669-119-87 or you can
- 24:38Speaker 1: WhatsApp us at 90050987. Um, you might have seen the
- 24:42Speaker 1: super viral videos on Instagram and TikTok already of one
- 24:46Speaker 1: of our very own Singaporean local dancers, Dinesh. He is
- 24:51Speaker 1: super fabulous, amazing at what he does, and he got
- 24:54Speaker 1: pulled up on stage to dance with Zahra Larson. He
- 24:57Speaker 1: did a tell-all and how it happened.
- 25:00Speaker 1: But we want to hear it live in person on
- 25:03Speaker 1: air and really just watch him react to this. Go
- 25:07Speaker 1: to the history of Dinesh as a dancer and performer
- 25:11Speaker 1: here in Singapore, that would be nice. And not just that,
- 25:13Speaker 1: because prior to this whole appearance on Zahra Larson's stage,
- 25:17Speaker 1: he's been pursuing dance in uh in the US and
- 25:21Speaker 1: he's been getting a lot of eyeballs and attention there
- 25:24Speaker 1: like and people are always saying,
- 25:25Speaker 1: Wait, you mean that guy from Singapore, that guy from Singapore,
- 25:28Speaker 1: they're all like talking about him because he's so good.
- 25:30Speaker 1: You know what? If Dinesh were my boss, I'll party
- 25:33Speaker 1: with him. Oh, yeah, 100%, for sure. Um, and I've
- 25:36Speaker 1: had the pleasure of partying with him before. He's, you know,
- 25:39Speaker 1: one of my friends as well outside of, uh, what
- 25:42Speaker 1: he does and very happy to have him on later on.
- 25:44Speaker 1: After 9 a.m. So bringing back to the topic of
- 25:47Speaker 1: partying with your bosses during a company D&D or the afterparty,
- 25:51Speaker 1: would you do it? Are you for it? Uh, I
- 25:54Speaker 1: want to say hello to username Pat on WhatsApp, and
- 25:58Speaker 1: this is a very good message, OK, praising her CEO
- 26:02Speaker 1: or the CEO.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Hands down the best boss. From Schindler Malaysia to CEO
- 26:08Speaker 1: of Schindler Asia, Mr. Ashok Ramachandran has always brought the
- 26:12Speaker 1: absolute best energy. Remembering the name of every single staff
- 26:17Speaker 1: member among 400+ people isn't just impressive, it shows how
- 26:21Speaker 1: deeply he values everyone. Thank you for making work feel
- 26:24Speaker 1: like home and bringing such amazing.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Vibes to the team. I love that. Wow, that's actually amazing.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Like it. Ashok? Everybody will want a boss like that. Yeah, OK.
- 26:34Speaker 1: One coming in from anonymous texter. OK. I once worked
- 26:38Speaker 1: in a company. The bosses love to party, drink. Those
- 26:42Speaker 1: who enjoy partying will join, and it was kind of fun.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I joined in too. I'm HR, by the way.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Uh, however, employees that came in from other companies found
- 26:52Speaker 1: this a huge culture shock for a bit. Yeah, yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I mean, you know, let's say or something, and there
- 27:02Speaker 1: are some clients that are very well known for like
- 27:05Speaker 1: wanting to entertain and drink. So our manager um will
- 27:10Speaker 1: actually give me a heads up and say like hey
- 27:13Speaker 1: FYI she's like, I know you're OK with drinking, but
- 27:16Speaker 1: just letting you know, to pace yourself because these clients
- 27:19Speaker 1: really love to drink. So they may suggest to go
- 27:21Speaker 1: out like after the day filming is over. They may
- 27:24Speaker 1: suggest to go hang out or like go party or something.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Better stand by your bounce back pills. Funny enough, those
- 27:30Speaker 1: don't work for me. Yeah, I, I'm, I'm like worse
- 27:33Speaker 1: after that. I don't know. It's something in the, it's
- 27:35Speaker 1: an ingredient in those anti.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Hangover pills that make me feel even worse. Or maybe
- 27:40Speaker 1: that jelly you had at your wedding. Oh, that one
- 27:42Speaker 1: is OK for some reason, yeah, the jelly works. Talking
- 27:45Speaker 1: about partying with your boss, has that happened for you
- 27:49Speaker 1: before or do you kind of like try to avoid it? Finally,
- 27:52Speaker 1: I found a text message I can relate to. What
- 27:55Speaker 1: I want to say good morning to anonymous texter number 2. OK. Hey,
- 27:58Speaker 1: Sonia and Joakim. Yes, whenever there's company D&D's.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Not to say I dread it, but I show up,
- 28:05Speaker 1: but the moment it's over, I leave straight for home. Actually,
- 28:10Speaker 1: you know, um, having been a part of quite a
- 28:13Speaker 1: number of D&Ds before where we host, right? In fact, uh,
- 28:16Speaker 1: we just did one for our friends over at Ernst
- 28:18Speaker 1: and Young. Hi, thank you for having us, by the way, yeah,
- 28:20Speaker 1: just on Friday, um, but I, I do notice like
- 28:24Speaker 1: sometimes when, you know, we're done with the show and
- 28:26Speaker 1: we leave, right?
- 28:27Speaker 1: You will see a bunch of people, they were already
- 28:29Speaker 1: streaming out when the last lucky draw winner has been announced.
- 28:34Speaker 1: If it's not, they leave. Exactly. So you know that
- 28:36Speaker 1: those are the people that are definitely not going for
- 28:38Speaker 1: the after party. They were just waiting to see if
- 28:40Speaker 1: they won the first prize. No, no win. I'm going home.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Or they meet their other friends for drinks, maybe. I
- 28:46Speaker 1: don't know. But you know, it's, it's always fun to
- 28:49Speaker 1: meet all of you at all these, um, D&D's because
- 28:53Speaker 1: it is probably one of the perfect settings to link up.
- 28:57Speaker 1: With our listeners. Yeah, and if you're tuned in again,
- 28:59Speaker 1: thank you very much for having Sonia and I host
- 29:01Speaker 1: your D&D on Friday night. It was so much fun. Yeah.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Down to our last few messages here, um, talking about
- 29:06Speaker 1: whether or not you'll party with your boss, because it
- 29:09Speaker 1: being D&D season right now in full swing, we've met
- 29:12Speaker 1: like tons of our listeners, um, across all different types
- 29:16Speaker 1: of companies who have come up to like say hi
- 29:18Speaker 1: to us at all these D&Ds and uh we always
- 29:21Speaker 1: wonder how many, what was the percentage of people that
- 29:24Speaker 1: actually go for the afterparty.
- 29:26Speaker 1: With their bosses. By the way, I just want to
- 29:28Speaker 1: say this, doing what we do for a living, whenever
- 29:31Speaker 1: someone comes up to us saying, Hey, I really enjoy
- 29:33Speaker 1: listening to the both of you, thank you. It means
- 29:36Speaker 1: the world to us. OK. So I wanna say thank
- 29:39Speaker 1: you to everyone who said that so far.
- 29:41Speaker 1: And some tea coming in from DC. OK, not anonymous, ah, yeah, DC.
- 29:46Speaker 1: I remember many years back, a few of us went
- 29:49Speaker 1: for an overseas incentive trip with our nasty big boss.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Oh no. We had a drinking session in a KTV,
- 29:55Speaker 1: and for whatever reason, my boss was merrily drinking till
- 29:58Speaker 1: he was so drunk that he uttered his deep embarrassing
- 30:01Speaker 1: secrets and dancing so wildly that we couldn't even believe
- 30:04Speaker 1: he was our boss. Oh my God. One of my
- 30:07Speaker 1: colleagues and I had no choice but to drag.
- 30:09Speaker 1: him back to his hotel room with his puke all
- 30:10Speaker 1: over him and tucked him in his bed. The morning after,
- 30:14Speaker 1: he probably recalled what happened and invited two of us
- 30:17Speaker 1: for tea, trying to find out what he had told us.
- 30:20Speaker 1: My colleague and I maintained our innocence and told him
- 30:22Speaker 1: he was good. You're good. But then he did not
- 30:25Speaker 1: believe us and treated us especially nice when we went
- 30:29Speaker 1: back to work thereafter. Till today, my colleague and I
- 30:31Speaker 1: laughed when we recall the incident. So yeah, party, why not?
- 30:34Speaker 1: For a better treatment at our mercy.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Actually, now I'm so curious. What was the, what was the?
- 30:41Speaker 1: What was it? One more coming in from an anonymous texter.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Morning guys. I was working in Japan and the company
- 30:48Speaker 1: had a rice planting team building event. After the event,
- 30:52Speaker 1: I thought we would just go home, but to my horror,
- 30:54Speaker 1: they said we will all have to go to the onsen.
- 30:56Speaker 1: After that, my boss included, and you know we were
- 31:01Speaker 1: onsen in Japan, no clothing allowed. So I basically saw
- 31:04Speaker 1: my boss butt naked.
- 31:06Speaker 1: OK, why would you do that? That's Japanese culture, but
- 31:10Speaker 1: I wouldn't suggest to go with my colleagues. But if
- 31:17Speaker 1: the company is in Japan and Japanese workers and you
- 31:19Speaker 1: are like the handful of people from overseas that come
- 31:22Speaker 1: to Japan to work there, right.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Hey, you know, introduce it to our Japanese culture of on,
- 31:28Speaker 1: but I feel like the whole idea of on-sen, you
- 31:31Speaker 1: can do it on your own. Like you don't need
- 31:33Speaker 1: to make it a team bonding activity. There are other things,
- 31:36Speaker 1: I mean, OK, that involves sake or izakaya. I wouldn't
- 31:39Speaker 1: mind the onsen if I can wear my boxes. You can't,
- 31:42Speaker 1: you can't. Basically you're not allowed to wear anything except
- 31:45Speaker 1: you're allowed to bring a small towel.
- 31:48Speaker 1: And um the running joke was that, you know, previously
- 31:51Speaker 1: when I did go to Japan for snowboarding and it
- 31:54Speaker 1: was unfortunately during the holiday season in Singapore, this particular
- 31:57Speaker 1: resort had, it was full of Singaporeans. So needless to say,
- 32:01Speaker 1: I got recognized there and um there was this woman
- 32:04Speaker 1: that was just butt naked and waving at me and she's,
- 32:07Speaker 1: oh my God, you're the DJ. I didn't know where
- 32:09Speaker 1: to look, I swear.
- 32:11Speaker 1: From then on, one of my friends made a joke
- 32:14Speaker 1: saying like, maybe you should use the towel to cover
- 32:16Speaker 1: your face instead so no one recognized you.
- 32:20Speaker 1: OK, so before we actually bring in Dinesh in the studio,
- 32:23Speaker 1: just want to say the reviews are out for Street Fighter.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Oh no, I read some of the reviews. Yeah, OK,
- 32:28Speaker 1: so it's one of, it's exactly like Mortal Kombat reviews.
- 32:32Speaker 1: The recent Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, OK. So the
- 32:35Speaker 1: reviews are those who play the game.
- 32:37Speaker 1: And those who follow the Street Fighter law, they love it.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Those who watch it for like a storyline, have no
- 32:43Speaker 1: clue what's going on, they will give very bad reviews
- 32:45Speaker 1: and maybe even some purist of Street Fighter, they like,
- 32:48Speaker 1: they are like going, how can you do this to
- 32:50Speaker 1: this character or that character? So yeah, I, I'm curious. I,
- 32:54Speaker 1: I want to go watch it only because I'm also
- 32:55Speaker 1: curious to see Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. Who was
- 33:00Speaker 1: the who was the girl that played, um, Chun Kalina Leung. OK,
- 33:06Speaker 1: she actually studied in Singapore.
- 33:08Speaker 1: She studied acting in Laselle, because I saw an interview
- 33:11Speaker 1: that she did, how to, how she trained to get
- 33:14Speaker 1: the physique for Chun. She ate 10 eggs in the morning. 12. 0,
- 33:19Speaker 1: was it 12? 12 eggs. Dude, how do you even
- 33:21Speaker 1: eat 12 eggs? And she scrambled that. I believe we
- 33:23Speaker 1: both watched the same video. That's crazy. I can't even
- 33:26Speaker 1: eat 3. Well done. So yeah, I might want to
- 33:29Speaker 1: go check it out in cinemas there and also a
- 33:31Speaker 1: couple of local films. I want to say congrats to Sandbox.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I think showtimes are still.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Available and we are all not strangers could still be
- 33:39Speaker 1: screening as well. Go support it and very soon it's
- 33:42Speaker 1: going to be the Ting Ma Tian Golden Horse Awards.
- 33:45Speaker 1: We'll keep our eyes peeled for that. Today we are
- 33:48Speaker 1: joined by an icon, a queen, an upcoming star in
- 33:52Speaker 1: the international dance world, I will say. Can I, can
- 33:55Speaker 1: I give you a bit of a worrying concern for
- 33:57Speaker 1: concerts here in Singapore? Why? You know, when the artists
- 34:00Speaker 1: go to someone and he or she is Singaporean, and
- 34:03Speaker 1: for example, the artist puts the mic in his or
- 34:05Speaker 1: her face.
- 34:06Speaker 1: We're just hoping that person knows that, because, because that
- 34:09Speaker 1: 5 seconds could go viral on social media. And then
- 34:13Speaker 1: fast forward to 2 weeks ago for Formula One weekend
- 34:17Speaker 1: where my FYP on Reels and TikTok were blowing up
- 34:20Speaker 1: with this, this queen. Look, I mean, I've been following
- 34:26Speaker 1: this icon for a long time and the videos popped off.
- 34:30Speaker 1: The videos absolutely popped off. Please say hi to dance extraordinaire.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Hello
- 34:37Speaker 1: Singapore.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 34:40Speaker 1: And you can add one of Zara's lush boys.
- 34:44Speaker 2: You're Singapore's lush life boy.
- 34:46Speaker 1: I love that. Thank you so much for making it
- 34:48Speaker 1: so early. Like, when I dropped you a DM, I
- 34:50Speaker 1: wasn't even sure whether, you know, you'll be able to
- 34:52Speaker 1: make it at 9 a.m. because I know it's crazy early.
- 34:55Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Oh, you're Sonia Cho, of course I'm making.
- 35:00Speaker 1: No. OK, so both Sonia and I actually know Dinesh.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I won't say for me personally, but whenever, OK, this
- 35:07Speaker 1: is where I give you your flowers and I say.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Uh, I owe you a two year overdue thank you,
- 35:12Speaker 1: you know, because we've done NDP before, NDP 2024. If
- 35:14Speaker 1: you watch the Fried Rice Paradise, he was part of it,
- 35:18Speaker 1: but I must say, because after every NDP rehearsals, like
- 35:20Speaker 1: where we are tired, you know, decompressing, he will always
- 35:23Speaker 1: be there. He'd be like, You look good, king. You
- 35:25Speaker 1: look good, queen. He, he's such uplifting, such a light.
- 35:28Speaker 1: So thank you for doing that, even at events where I'm.
- 35:31Speaker 1: So totally bored and you were there. Him and his
- 35:33Speaker 1: presence and the and the words that you speak. Thank
- 35:36Speaker 1: you so much for being such a positive light in
- 35:38Speaker 1: this world.
- 35:39Speaker 2: So thank you guys. You guys are like such a
- 35:40Speaker 2: light and like I look up to you guys. It's
- 35:42Speaker 2: always so nice seeing you guys and you guys always
- 35:44Speaker 2: have like a nice energy and so humble. So I'm
- 35:46Speaker 2: always like, well, returning the energy back.
- 35:49Speaker 1: So we're we're receiving glazing both ways.
- 35:54Speaker 1: But let's get straight to it. I mean, look, you know,
- 35:57Speaker 1: it must have been a dream come true for you, and,
- 35:59Speaker 1: and I know that you've been hustling out there in LA.
- 36:01Speaker 1: You've been really like putting yourself out there in the
- 36:04Speaker 1: dance world. It's been paying off. How did this whole
- 36:07Speaker 1: moment happen on stage with Zahra
- 36:09Speaker 2: Larson? Oh my God.
- 36:10Speaker 2: So, honestly, obviously not planned at all. It just happened
- 36:13Speaker 2: on the day. Uh, my, I also got tickets like
- 36:16Speaker 2: literally just a week before, less than a week before. Yeah.
- 36:19Speaker 2: And then my friends were there who got tickets and
- 36:22Speaker 2: then they came early. So obviously, I, not being a
- 36:25Speaker 2: morning person.
- 36:27Speaker 2: I had to, I woke up a little late and
- 36:28Speaker 2: I had to get ready, do my makeup, do my outfit,
- 36:30Speaker 2: and then, which is like honestly just like 1 hour each. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 36:36Speaker 2: not 1 hour each, like maybe 2 hours in total,
- 36:38Speaker 2: I would say. But yeah, so like makeup and then
- 36:40Speaker 2: I was trying to film a video, you know, for content.
- 36:42Speaker 2: So that takes a lot of time somehow, you know,
- 36:45Speaker 2: and then also like I didn't put my outfit together,
- 36:47Speaker 2: so it's like on the day, just like, you know,
- 36:51Speaker 2: it's like it's in my mind. So on the day
- 36:53Speaker 2: it's just, well, let's see it. I just knew I
- 36:57Speaker 2: had this piece, this piece, this piece, and I'm like, OK,
- 36:59Speaker 2: let me put it together. So then I also filmed
- 37:01Speaker 2: a video.
- 37:01Speaker 2: For that, and then by the time I got there,
- 37:03Speaker 2: it was already like 4 p.m. and the day before
- 37:05Speaker 2: like Cardi, I knew the K-pop fans were there since
- 37:07Speaker 2: like last year, since last year, yeah. So I was like,
- 37:11Speaker 2: oh my God, no way am I like gonna make it,
- 37:14Speaker 2: you know. And then my friends who were there, they
- 37:16Speaker 2: said they got barricades, so I was screaming, and they
- 37:17Speaker 2: met her dancers because that's how early they were.
- 37:20Speaker 2: around and everything. So, yeah, and then I just came there.
- 37:24Speaker 2: I was like barricade, thank God. And then she came
- 37:27Speaker 2: on and on like I think the crowd came like
- 37:29Speaker 2: literally 45 minutes before the set. That's when everyone came.
- 37:32Speaker 2: And during, obviously I knew what was gonna happen and
- 37:35Speaker 2: I was like manifesting with my friends like I want
- 37:36Speaker 2: to be the Lush Life boy. I even posted on
- 37:39Speaker 2: TikTok like not even thinking should come here. Like last
- 37:41Speaker 2: year I was like, oh, well, when Zara Larson comes
- 37:43Speaker 2: to Singapore, this is what I'm gonna do. Yeah, so
- 37:45Speaker 2: I think that was really like manifestation at its core,
- 37:48Speaker 2: you know, so.
- 37:49Speaker 2: So when it came on, I made sure I got
- 37:52Speaker 2: like as much attention on me. My friends were all
- 37:54Speaker 2: pointing at me and it also helped that the dancers
- 37:57Speaker 2: recognized them, I think. They're like, wait, it's, it's you guys.
- 38:00Speaker 2: So and then I was like, me, me, me, and
- 38:01Speaker 2: then I was like trying to dance also to show
- 38:03Speaker 2: them like I'm a dancer, yeah, I'm not just like,
- 38:07Speaker 2: you're not gonna go on stage and like, I don't know,
- 38:08Speaker 2: do something random, like I'm gonna dance. So, and the
- 38:12Speaker 2: dancer saw me, thank God, and Zara came and she
- 38:14Speaker 2: was like, Wait, do you see someone? And the dancer
- 38:16Speaker 2: pointed me out and
- 38:18Speaker 1: The rest
- 38:19Speaker 1: is history. Oh my God. Can I, can I ask
- 38:22Speaker 1: a follow-up question on the topic of making sure that
- 38:24Speaker 1: it wasn't rehearsed and all that, right? How hard was
- 38:27Speaker 1: it convincing people like, guys, look, I know I dance,
- 38:30Speaker 1: but I didn't plan this. No one, because who knows
- 38:34Speaker 1: you know you're an amazing dancer. Yeah.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Thank you so much. Well, honestly, I had a few
- 38:38Speaker 2: comments on TikTok and Instagram like, oh, was this stage,
- 38:41Speaker 2: but it wasn't anything like rude or anything. It was
- 38:43Speaker 2: a question. So all I had to do was just
- 38:45Speaker 2: make a video and be like, yeah, you know, this
- 38:46Speaker 2: is a.
- 38:47Speaker 2: viral moment and I think a lot of them know
- 38:48Speaker 2: that also. So it's like, yeah, it was just me
- 38:51Speaker 2: saying that that's it. It wasn't that hard to be like, guys,
- 38:53Speaker 2: listen
- 38:54Speaker 1: to me. Thank goodness Singapore represent and represent well on stage. Yeah,
- 38:58Speaker 1: thank you. I mean, so after that whole experience, like
- 39:01Speaker 1: I'm sure that you're still like reeling from it and
- 39:03Speaker 1: you know, you're still looking at the videos and the
- 39:05Speaker 1: pictures every day. I'm very sure. Every day. Yes. Then
- 39:09Speaker 1: how are you going to top this after? Did you
- 39:11Speaker 1: like start to think about that or,
- 39:13Speaker 2: well, that's what I'm like, well, what's next now?
- 39:16Speaker 2: Because it's insane and that is like the highest high
- 39:19Speaker 2: of a high I could have like, in my entire
- 39:21Speaker 2: life and like one of my biggest milestones, I would say,
- 39:24Speaker 2: but I feel like for me, I always manifest what's
- 39:26Speaker 2: next and what's, what's, what, what are the goals I
- 39:29Speaker 2: can um
- 39:29Speaker 1: top like how do you
- 39:31Speaker 1: use this to.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. So I'm, you know, trying to like make
- 39:34Speaker 2: content of this, but also, you know, trying to let
- 39:36Speaker 2: my brand new audience also get to know Dinesh and
- 39:39Speaker 2: who he is and hopefully like the world and whoever
- 39:42Speaker 2: who needs to see me sees me and um.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Gets me like opportunities, opportunities that like I'm dreaming of,
- 39:50Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 39:51Speaker 1: No, I think it's, I think it's gonna happen in
- 39:56Speaker 1: LA and you learn a lot, I'm sure. What was
- 39:58Speaker 1: the one thing you learned in your experience?
- 40:01Speaker 1: Training in LA that has opened your eyes to, I
- 40:04Speaker 1: don't know, more opportunities or what have
- 40:06Speaker 1: you learned?
- 40:06Speaker 2: So I think like the second time I went to
- 40:08Speaker 2: LA for two months, it really opened my eyes and
- 40:11Speaker 2: of how like unapologetic you should be and how you
- 40:15Speaker 2: should really like
- 40:17Speaker 2: Not shy away when the opportunity is right in front
- 40:19Speaker 2: of your face.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Yeah,
- 40:23Speaker 1: yeah,
- 40:23Speaker 2: don't be Asian because like we are like, you know, like,
- 40:26Speaker 1: sorry,
- 40:26Speaker 2: like second guessing,
- 40:28Speaker 1: yeah, yeah, exactly,
- 40:28Speaker 2: which is also really nice, you know, but I think
- 40:31Speaker 2: when you really want it, you have to show that
- 40:33Speaker 2: you want it. And also like the biggest thing that
- 40:35Speaker 2: I've learned is like, close, close mouth, don't get fat
- 40:39Speaker 2: because I, I'm like, I mean, if you guys didn't know.
- 40:42Speaker 2: I'm like a really shy person, so I, I like,
- 40:44Speaker 2: you know, I get embarrassed to ask for things that
- 40:46Speaker 2: I really want, but I feel being in like this industry,
- 40:50Speaker 2: the dance or like social media or like content creating,
- 40:52Speaker 2: you really have to kind of ask when you want it, yeah, yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 2: because if not, they also wouldn't really know the other side.
- 40:59Speaker 1: I
- 40:59Speaker 1: totally, I totally understand and get that it's something I
- 41:01Speaker 1: could do better with what I want to, you know,
- 41:04Speaker 1: on that note of who is Dinesh, I feel that's
- 41:06Speaker 1: something we should touch on.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Come back from a break. And of course, we're still
- 41:09Speaker 1: with dance extraordinaire, Dinesh. Hello, good morning. You, in case
- 41:14Speaker 1: you just joined us on air, um, he was pulled
- 41:17Speaker 1: up on stage to dance with Zahra Larson. We're officially
- 41:19Speaker 1: still live on TikTok right now. If you want to
- 41:21Speaker 1: catch a glimpse of his beautiful self, he got so
- 41:23Speaker 1: ready for our show this morning. I, I feel terribly
- 41:27Speaker 1: underdressed because we're both in 987 shirts. Hang on, if
- 41:30Speaker 1: you feel underdressed, I'm practically butt naked.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Studio. OK, let's, let's not go there. But, uh, earlier
- 41:36Speaker 1: we focused on that viral moment and that dance move
- 41:38Speaker 1: with Zara Larsson, and I feel right now it's time
- 41:41Speaker 1: to have Dinesh shine on 987. Who is Dinesh? To,
- 41:45Speaker 1: to someone who's not familiar with you, tell us about
- 41:48Speaker 1: your backstory. How did your love for dance come about?
- 41:50Speaker 1: Did you study it? Tell
- 41:52Speaker 1: us more.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Yeah. OK. Well, hello world. It's Dinesh, and I'm 23
- 41:57Speaker 2: this year.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Um, I started dancing when I was like primary 3
- 42:02Speaker 2: or 4, through like an enrichment class outside of school.
- 42:06Speaker 2: So I started with like hip hop, like street styles,
- 42:09Speaker 2: and then I started doing Latin ballroom. So yeah, and
- 42:12Speaker 2: then I went to School of the Arts where I
- 42:15Speaker 2: did like ballet and contemp training. That's where I got
- 42:18Speaker 2: more exposed to dance, like really, really dance training, and
- 42:21Speaker 2: then I did my diploma in La Salle.
- 42:24Speaker 2: So I graduated with a diploma in dance and ever
- 42:27Speaker 2: since then, I've been obviously dancing and trying to find
- 42:30Speaker 2: my way in the industry. Um, I started dancing honestly
- 42:34Speaker 2: because honestly, my whole family dances, like not really professionally,
- 42:37Speaker 2: my sister did it professionally as a kid, but my
- 42:39Speaker 2: mom and dad like they met through dance also in
- 42:41Speaker 2: the streets.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I tell people that and I'm like, it seems
- 42:45Speaker 2: like I'm joking, but it's really not like everyone dances
- 42:47Speaker 2: in my family. So I always had that in my genes,
- 42:50Speaker 2: I feel, yeah, just that I needed to put myself
- 42:52Speaker 2: in the classes. So besides dance, I also um try
- 42:56Speaker 2: to do content, um.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Um, I also try to like freelance model because I
- 43:01Speaker 2: love being in front of the camera, I can't get enough. Yes,
- 43:05Speaker 2: and yeah, I love fashion also. I love makeup. So
- 43:08Speaker 2: I try to do content related to those also and
- 43:10Speaker 2: also like, I guess just sharing my life because like,
- 43:13Speaker 2: I don't know, it's like when cool things like this happen,
- 43:15Speaker 2: I also want to share it with people who, you know,
- 43:17Speaker 2: manifest things with me and like are happy for me
- 43:20Speaker 2: and all the comments. I'm like, I need to share
- 43:22Speaker 2: this with y'all.
- 43:23Speaker 1: No, I think it goes back to like, there's always
- 43:28Speaker 1: gonna be people out there who are critics who may
- 43:32Speaker 1: not even be sharing it because they're happy for you.
- 43:34Speaker 1: They might be like.
- 43:35Speaker 1: Like, why is this person, it happens all the time,
- 43:37Speaker 1: but you somehow, you know, you want to maintain that
- 43:39Speaker 1: good headspace, right? Um, one thing I wanted to ask
- 43:42Speaker 1: you is because, you know, when I see and I
- 43:44Speaker 1: watch your dance videos, you are so strong, like in
- 43:48Speaker 1: terms of the movements and everything, and you must have
- 43:51Speaker 1: another workout routine. Do you?
- 43:54Speaker 2: I
- 43:54Speaker 1: really
- 43:55Speaker 2: don't.
- 43:55Speaker 1: You don't I don't.
- 43:56Speaker 1: I'm like dying to ask you this because you, you're
- 43:59Speaker 1: so like sculpted. I think like is it just the genes?
- 44:03Speaker 1: What's happening?
- 44:04Speaker 2: I think it's the jeans also, but also like I
- 44:06Speaker 2: think it was just my dance training from school that
- 44:08Speaker 2: still retains in the body and it's a workout. Yeah, that,
- 44:11Speaker 2: that
- 44:11Speaker 1: is definitely a workout
- 44:13Speaker 1: and it's like
- 44:16Speaker 2: like 9 a.m. in the morning till 6 p.m., 5 p.m.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Dancing, I
- 44:21Speaker 1: mean, look, if I'm at Marquis from like what, 12
- 44:24Speaker 1: to 5, I'm I worked out. Honestly
- 44:26Speaker 2: though, honestly, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 44:28Speaker 1: and you're like in heels too.
- 44:30Speaker 1: The same amount of calories we burn at Marquee for
- 44:33Speaker 1: 5 hours is the same as him as a professional.
- 44:35Speaker 1: I'm sorry, hold on. Me and you burn very different
- 44:38Speaker 1: calories at Marquee, OK. I think Jo's just his arm,
- 44:42Speaker 1: his arm is tired from holding his drink. That's it.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I make up for it with the run, OK? Yeah.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Where can we catch you on stage next? Anything coming
- 44:51Speaker 1: up for you? Anything you can say or can't say
- 44:53Speaker 1: yet?
- 44:54Speaker 2: Well, I mean,
- 44:57Speaker 2: I would, I would say hopefully the world stages, but
- 44:59Speaker 2: right now I'm actually doing, I'm dancing at Halloween Horror Night.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Yeah,
- 45:04Speaker 2: so I'm literally like a Poinciana, literally like you go
- 45:08Speaker 2: from Lush Life to Poinciana. Is it
- 45:10Speaker 1: the opening act?
- 45:12Speaker 1: No, no, no,
- 45:12Speaker 2: it's the one in New York,
- 45:14Speaker 1: and we do like
- 45:14Speaker 2: 34 shows a night.
- 45:16Speaker 1: So
- 45:16Speaker 1: that's what I'm the graveyard, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it's literally to my, to my back.
- 45:25Speaker 1: You are, you are so fabulous. I cannot imagine you
- 45:27Speaker 1: as the one thing I fear the most as well,
- 45:29Speaker 1: so maybe not. Yeah, you fear that the most. Do
- 45:31Speaker 1: you know? OK, you know, he doesn't even dare say
- 45:34Speaker 1: the name. He calls it, I was like there are
- 45:36Speaker 1: a few days you can't say it, right? I mean, Thursdays,
- 45:39Speaker 1: you can't say name on Thursday. Apparently there's some magic. No, but, uh,
- 45:43Speaker 1: just a very quick Halloween horror story. A long time
- 45:45Speaker 1: ago they had this thing called.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Camp Marty. I was with Sonia, right, and it hit
- 45:50Speaker 1: too close to home because I have some National Service
- 45:52Speaker 1: stories as well. And there was ones where, and back
- 45:55Speaker 1: then the Martins were here on 987, they left the room.
- 45:57Speaker 1: So I left. I was alone, but no, you threw
- 45:59Speaker 1: me in front. I went in first, and of all
- 46:02Speaker 1: times to be alone, there was the bathroom door that
- 46:04Speaker 1: had to open. What was inside the pee, the pee lady,
- 46:07Speaker 1: and it was right in front of me. You can
- 46:08Speaker 1: say it's Monday. You can do Monday morning.
- 46:12Speaker 1: It's Monday. It's OK. She's sleeping. She's sleeping. She's sleeping. Anyway, Dean,
- 46:17Speaker 1: thank you so much for being with us today. It
- 46:18Speaker 1: was so much fun to have you here. Anything you
- 46:21Speaker 1: want to say to your newfound fans and friends, and
- 46:23Speaker 1: we've got over 2000 viewers on TikTok right now if
- 46:25Speaker 1: you want to just like give them a shout out. Yeah.
- 46:27Speaker 2: Thank you guys so much. It really means a lot.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Like I'm not just saying this just to say this.
- 46:31Speaker 2: I'm really grateful and I hope you guys follow me
- 46:35Speaker 2: on my journey to superstardom and hopefully dance on the
- 46:38Speaker 2: stage with Ariana Grande and Beyonce.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Beyonce and Ariana Grande and she represents. OK. To catch
- 46:46Speaker 1: the full clip of him dancing on stage with Czar Larson,
- 46:49Speaker 1: which was just a week ago. I can't believe time
- 46:50Speaker 1: is just flying by. Um please follow him up on
- 46:53Speaker 1: all socials. Please tell our listeners where to find
- 46:55Speaker 2: you. Oh my God, you guys can follow me on
- 46:57Speaker 2: Instagram at Dinesh, D I N E A I S
- 47:00Speaker 2: H and on TikTok at You're Only.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Uh-huh, that's what you are. Dinesh, that's true and and
- 47:10Speaker 1: Ariana together. Oh my God. Alright guys, thank you so
- 47:12Speaker 1: much for tuning in on TikTok live and on air
- 47:15Speaker 1: as well. Actually, I failed to ask you this question.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Inspired by what Dinesh did over at Formula One.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Weekend with Sarah Larson, right? If you had a chance, no, no, no, no, no,
- 47:24Speaker 1: not dance. I mean, if you had a chance to
- 47:26Speaker 1: be pulled on stage by your favorite singer or celebrity, OK,
- 47:29Speaker 1: who would that be? Wow, um, my favorite singer or
- 47:33Speaker 1: celebrity would have to be Dua Lipa. Oh, but I
- 47:37Speaker 1: have no skills to offer her.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I know I can't sing. Let's, let's practice for when
- 47:43Speaker 1: she comes to Singapore, OK? What am I supposed to do?
- 47:45Speaker 1: I don't know. So she's doing training season, alright, and
- 47:47Speaker 1: she looks for someone in the crowd. She sees you
- 47:49Speaker 1: and she pulls you up, and she gives you the mic. How?
- 47:52Speaker 1: I'll just do the manifesting trend. I'll just pray you
- 47:56Speaker 1: and everybody else, and she will pull up for that, right? No, no, no. Look,
- 47:59Speaker 1: if I, if I knew there was a chance, yeah, OK,
- 48:03Speaker 1: for that to happen, and if I'm like a.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Performer, of course, I would train my butt off for it.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Like I will practice, but maybe I can be like
- 48:10Speaker 1: a hype girl or something for like one of her songs.
- 48:13Speaker 1: That's the most I can do for now. OK. Other
- 48:15Speaker 1: than that, I've got two left feet. You already know.
- 48:17Speaker 1: That would be great. Yeah, it sounds like a great
- 48:20Speaker 1: like duo. Fair enough, you know, why not, right? Maybe
- 48:23Speaker 1: I'll manifest that the next time she comes back to Singapore. Oh,
- 48:26Speaker 1: why not? Let's see. Her concert, OK, one of the best,
- 48:30Speaker 1: one of the best.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Yes, I really had so much fun. And for yours
- 48:32Speaker 1: truly very common answer Coldplay on the piano playing clocks
- 48:36Speaker 1: with them, right? I tried once, but I realized very small. Oh,
- 48:41Speaker 1: is it? Nobody could see anything. Yo, no, but the rest,
- 48:43Speaker 1: they actually brought like the proper A3 vanguard sheet and
- 48:46Speaker 1: the and the letters they wrote were very blocked and
- 48:49Speaker 1: very colored like really big. OK, OK. Well, next time then,
- 48:52Speaker 1: although I don't know whether there's a next time for
- 48:54Speaker 1: them in Singapore.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Is there? I don't know actually. I mean, they're probably
- 48:59Speaker 1: making new music. Sounded like that might have been one
- 49:02Speaker 1: of the last times they might be here. Then again,
- 49:05Speaker 1: they always say it's their last album, last tour, last tour,
- 49:08Speaker 1: and still they come back. So maybe one more album
- 49:10Speaker 1: from them, hopefully, yeah, a major world tour and they
- 49:12Speaker 1: call it a day. Yeah, um, you know, however, they
- 49:15Speaker 1: still look very similar from when I first saw them.
- 49:18Speaker 1: They didn't really age.
