- speaker-0: We need to let our kids have space for honest questions and not shut them down and just ⁓ you know, paint it over with Christian cliches. Just live, laugh, love, it's gonna be fine. ⁓ too blessed to be stressed. We don't wanna do that. So we need to stop the cliche and s we need to learn the power of lament and lamenting alongside our kids. speaker-1: Dream Many parents are wondering what this actually looks like in everyday family life. So I know you've already given us some practical tips, but I want to kind of dig a little deeper. So when our kids go through hard things like rejection or disappointment, some of these bigger issues, how can we help them to recognize the lies that they might be believing and replace those with the truth of who they are in Christ? speaker-0: Do you think that's a conversation? And that that's the importance of conversational parenting. And that is, how does that make you feel when you experience that friend walking away from you? how can you become a different kind of friend? How can this become a cautionary tale to you about how to treat others? what ⁓ what did you know, as you know, getting back to how that make you feel? Well, let's unpack that a little bit. It may have made you feel rejected. And that I validate that. That's very hard. And I've gone through that too. And I it it it breaks my heart to be misunderstood or rejected. ⁓ but how can we find Jesus in the middle of this? How can he how does he understand? He absolutely understands misunderstanding, he absolutely understands betrayal and dis and all of those things. And so, This can cause us to go to him for the help that we need because he actually does understand. He's an empathetic savior. The reason he walked this earth was so that he would understand what it's like to be a human being in this crazy world. So he knows. He knows to the nth degree. Therefore, we can approach him and ask questions of him. And it's okay also to be angry. It's okay to be like, why did this happen? ⁓ we need to let our kids have space for honest questions and not shut them down and just ⁓ you know. Painted over with Christian cliches. Just live, laugh, love. It's gonna be fine. ⁓ too blessed to be stressed. We don't wanna do that. So we need to stop the cliche and s we need to learn the power of lament and lamenting alongside our kids, just like Job's friends did at the beginning. They laid with him in the dirt while they picked out his scabs, but then they opened their mouths and they said a bunch of judgy things. So we need to be more like the f friends at first, not the friends at last. speaker-2: This episode of Homeschool Insights is brought to you by Liberty HealthShare.
