- 0:03This is a bramble Jam podcast. This week on your Gabble Gabble. If
- 0:14you trade your bike for a boat on Craigslist and then want it back,
- 0:17do you understand how craigslist works? Judge Faith is here to tell you the
- 0:21law. And if you break somebody else's pool table but you hurt your back,
- 0:25is it their fault or are you out to lunch? Judge shit,
- 0:31real people cases justice. This is your gabble gabble. Jut Ross, That's
- 0:35what I'm looking for. Jut Ross Boss Ross, Boss Ross, Boss Ross.
- 0:40What are you out the water? Are you sinking? I should have
- 0:43said, like, are you sunk? Sunk? Yeah, didn't get there.
- 0:48Hey, everybody, welcome to your gabble gavel, your weekly exclusive,
- 0:52exclusive uh program all about courtroom shows and uh what goes on inside the right?
- 1:00Something new? Why does this keep? Every time you move around?
- 1:04This kind of jingles and it makes me think there's an apparition in here.
- 1:07THEO might be back there. It's THEO. That's what it is. To
- 1:11back there. The Oh what are you doing? Can you see him?
- 1:15He might be behind the TV. I don't know what's happening. Yeah,
- 1:19that's a THEO that's a situation. You want to go, Yeah, choose
- 1:23some wires. I mean there's no wires that he can really aside from the
- 1:27TV, I guess, but yeah, that would be one he could get.
- 1:30I think he's trying to get these, even all the ethernets connected from
- 1:33the router all the way to the computer. He could get all those.
- 1:36Now he's not going to do that. Your puppy's not going to do that.
- 1:38Fine, I'll go do it, but you start. I'm listening so
- 1:41here on yo, Gavel, Gavel. We have a lot of fun.
- 1:42But what we also do is is we also don't edit this show at all.
- 1:46So when something like this happens, we're vamping. That's what we're doing.
- 1:49Now. Oh well, then maybe it's just the AC buddy. I
- 1:53don't know. So it appears that brand had Boss Ross Today America's you know,
- 2:00our you know, quote unquote favorite. And I went to Judge Faith.
- 2:05Oh he's chewing that cord. Now, it's like, give me that
- 2:07chord where justice is not a foreign content is not in Judge Ross's courtroom.
- 2:12And I have judged Faith. I got a little Craigslist situation here. I
- 2:15love Judge Faith. Yeah, do you, but I have. She always
- 2:19explains things in a manner that anyone in the courtroom should be able to understand
- 2:22it. But did you know it's necessary? Did you know that she left
- 2:25to go do divorce court. Yes, and I'm gonna put you back in
- 2:30your Theo not a fan of Judge Faith, not a fan. But then
- 2:35she just left that and she's going to do some sort of other show.
- 2:38Really fantastic. I read that's unbelievable. So cool, Bran Theo is now
- 2:44going back. He's a Golden Retriever puppy. He's going back to his abode
- 2:47in the other room. And yeah, so I did Judge Faith, but
- 2:51I went first. I've been I think I'm going first the last two times.
- 2:53So can we hear from Balstore. I don't have a very It's not
- 2:55very long, you know. It could be a short gavel, could be
- 2:59a quick game ten minutes or less. Yeah, I want to answerduce you
- 3:01to Carol Hunter. Carol Hunter, you ever notice what do that? Whenever
- 3:07we need to like vamp and make it something longer and that lasts maybe two
- 3:10seconds, it really works for us. Okay, Rell Haunt, she is
- 3:15so in for seven fifty's dollars seven hundred and fifty dollars for the price of
- 3:22a pool table. She is suing Graham Platt, Graham Plat, Yeah,
- 3:30suing for and he is countersuing for more. Twenty three twenty is what he's
- 3:35suing for for injuries. It will triple the amount for counters It's exactly right.
- 3:38So Carol hosted a party for her boyfriend Jarvis, like a birthday party,
- 3:46and Jarvis is there, luckily for all of us, because you know
- 3:51he's a witness to this, and he walks up, and I need to
- 3:55explain to you what Jarvis's beard is, Like, Okay, please, it
- 4:00is not important to the story, but I've never seen anything like it.
- 4:03You imagine a long beard, I'm with you, but like a hard part
- 4:08right down the middle. So it's in two separate Is it braided, No,
- 4:13it's it's just a lot. It's just a nice long beard with a
- 4:18solid inch part like right down the middle. That's absurd. Yeah, that's
- 4:23insightly just to think about. I just I've never seen anything like it,
- 4:27and no one addresses that situation, and I'm upset about that. Jarvis and
- 4:31Graham were best of friends. According to Graham. Graham says, we would
- 4:35go club and we would pick up women. We were best friends. And
- 4:43Jarvis is like, yes, we were buddies from work. He's less excited,
- 4:46he's not right, And Jarvis is like he's trying to downplay it because
- 4:51his girl wouldn't like the things that we were doing. We were best buddies.
- 4:56We were always hanging out until she came around. Jarvis is saying this
- 4:59for great, saying this, Graham is saying, sorry, sorry, I
- 5:02say now, we're very confused. Sorry, sorry. So it's a yeah
- 5:05for real. Uh So Carol says, at the party, they started a
- 5:11pool tournament. Well, eight ball down robin situation. Yeah, so Graham
- 5:19was crushing it. He's knocking people out one after the other. Eight ball
- 5:25corner pocket still Winslow shows up. That's exactly right. And so uh then
- 5:31all of a sudden he's like talking trash. He's like, I can beat
- 5:35anybody here, Carol, you want in Carroll, he doesn't like Carol.
- 5:39He's like, Carol, I can beat you. Let's do this right now.
- 5:42Eight ball around robin trash. That's exactly right to Carol, And uh,
- 5:46Carol's like I knew I could beat him. It's my table. I
- 5:51feel good about it, so I home court advantage. So I went in
- 5:56and I beat him bad. And Judge Ross says to Graham, uh,
- 6:00so you had to eat some humble pie and Graham says yes, and it's
- 6:06the most horrible taste I've ever had. Wow. So it's an interesting back
- 6:11and forth that Graham's really doing it. Judge Ross loved it. Graham says
- 6:15that after she won, she starts running around high five and everybody talking trash.
- 6:20And so Graham says that he decided the best course of action here is
- 6:25to get on top of the pool table to I don't know, show show
- 6:30he's still the alpha. Yeah, I guess so uh, And he says
- 6:34it's important note Judge that the reason I did this is because earlier in the
- 6:39evening I saw Carol and her friends on the pool table dancing. Okay,
- 6:45So I was like, okay, this pool table precedent that we are good
- 6:49to get on the table. Carol says, yes, sometimes I do get
- 6:54on my pool table to dance when I'm in the mood. But I'm a
- 6:59little girl. It's a big table, That's what she says. So he
- 7:01gets up on the table, the table falls out from underneath him. Falls
- 7:06it you mean, like, does he break it or it fall? What
- 7:10do you mean falls? We don't cables don't fall. We don't get into
- 7:13the logistics of what happened at the table. But I imagine a couple of
- 7:16the legs snapped and so it caused him to fall down right onto his back.
- 7:23Judge Ross asks if he had been drinking and she and he says,
- 7:26yes, I had a few shots, but I fell back. I landed
- 7:30on my back and I've had back pain ever since, and I've had to
- 7:35go to the doctor to help me feel better. And he's got receipts.
- 7:40No h And Judge Ross is ready to rule. Is this at her house
- 7:45or at a bar? Is at her house? It's her table. Remember,
- 7:48seven point fifty is what she's suing for for the price of the pool
- 7:51table. He's getting nothing in his countersuit. He has no receipts. Sure
- 7:57she's gonna get the seven to fifty. Interesting going forward does not give her
- 8:03the seven to fifty. Okay, he says, either way, he says,
- 8:05because but he she is going to get something, he says, because
- 8:09you were on the pool table. An argument could be made that you getting
- 8:16on the pool table when you're in the mood that weekends the table. So
- 8:20yes, he is some some responsible but not full response. So three hundred
- 8:26is what your under half under half three hundred as well. She gets Justice
- 8:30isn't a foreign concept. It's absolutely it absolutely It was feign to me and
- 8:33then I it became unfeign. It became domestic domestic justice. Why not show
- 8:43gosh, man, what are we doing sitting around here? But what is
- 8:46domestic like? What do we do with that? We'll get a title.
- 8:48It's just it's all, Oh, it's all. I can't believe I'm giving
- 8:52this away. It's all uh disputes that happened on or during domestic flights or
- 9:03in domestic airports for domestic flights. I don't hate that. Like I was
- 9:07at the bar, I was four draft beers deep. It was eight in
- 9:09the morning. Domestic justice. And then somebody took my USB charger. I
- 9:13couldn't charge my phone. I missed out on the deal of a lifetime.
- 9:16My phone was dead. You you owe me this much money? I love
- 9:18it. Domestic justice. Well, I'll get on the phone, which,
- 9:22yeah, you talked to our people. Yeah, you call up John what's
- 9:28his name, John Plummer, John Christian Plumber whatever at Sony. They're going
- 9:31to bite on that for sure. Sure, I'll That's who I'll pitch it
- 9:35to. Of all the people I could pitch it on faith based network,
- 9:41is who's gonna really bite it for? Yeah? What you don't know is
- 9:45is it's hosted by Stephen Ferdick. Sounds like you had a giant in your
- 9:54life, that you are Goliath, even if you will. Yeah, all
- 10:00right, you ready to talk about Craigslist with Judge face. I love Craig
- 10:03Craigslist disputes. This is gonna be the shortestcalvel ever. The best part about
- 10:09this case is the names of the two the plainoff indefendant. Now the plaintiff
- 10:13is suing because he traded a bike for a boat, and his name is
- 10:18Philip Bota. Philip Bota Bota in some wait, he was trading a bike
- 10:24for so he wanted a bota. Let's right, he wanted a boda.
- 10:26Boda wants a bota. Bota wants a boda. Got it, it's spelled
- 10:30botha pronounced boda. Now he's suing Stephen Chapman. Now we don't get if
- 10:37there's a Curtis in between Stephen and Chapman, but I like to think that
- 10:41there is, Yeah, for sure. So Philip Boda is suing Stephen Curtis
- 10:46Chapman for uh the cost of the boat, which is five thousand dollars the
- 10:52max you can sue. I believe in Judge Face Cormorck to dive in.
- 10:54So let's hear from Philip Boda. Now Philip Boda is South African. Okay,
- 11:00I don't know if that's an accent or not. He's South African.
- 11:03And he went down to the Keys with his daughter and they had the best
- 11:09time on a boat. It was a great adventure. Great, it was
- 11:11a great adventure. He dove right in and uh he after he was peaceless,
- 11:16and uh, what is he saying? What's he saying? There?
- 11:26Sonomy is not a word. Uh. So he goes back home to I
- 11:31believe North Carolina. South African live in North Carolina. And he's like,
- 11:35that's it. My daughter loved this boat. We had a great experience,
- 11:39and I'm gonna I'm gonna get a boat. Whatever I need to do to
- 11:41get a boat. And so he gets on Craigslist and he says, I
- 11:45typed on craiglist trade bike for boat. That's what I typed in on Craiglist.
- 11:48This sounds great, sounds great. And he said I found Stephen and
- 11:54Famous. What kind of Curtis Chapman, what kind of bike do you have?
- 11:58And he says, I got a Yamaha of VMX. Here are the
- 12:01pictures, and then he says, this thing is pristine. It's been babied
- 12:05and taking care of almost better than I take care of my daughter, okay,
- 12:09And that was really awkward for everyone in the courtroom. I mean,
- 12:13Stephen Chapman was like, for the sake of the call man, just stop
- 12:18stop saying those things. And so they go to Stephen and they're like,
- 12:22Steven, yeah, tell us about what happened. And he's like, well,
- 12:28I brought the I got heard from him, and I told him that
- 12:33there was a water pump issue. There was no water pump didn't work in
- 12:37the boat. I send him pictures of the boat. I have all these
- 12:39texts I sent him on these pictures. He was aware and he said bring
- 12:41it on up. So I hitched it to a trailer. I brought the
- 12:46boat on up. Stephen has a giant neck tattoo, and his wife is
- 12:48there with him, and we believe his wife will say nothing the whole time,
- 12:52but she does pipe up with some very useless information a little bit later.
- 12:54She has a giant neck. No, no, he does, okay,
- 12:56super southern. So uh. He she said how long had you owned
- 13:03the butt? He said only for a month and a half. And Faith
- 13:05is like why and he said, well, I traded it for something else.
- 13:07Don't get any more details on that. So Faith says, Philip,
- 13:09what's the value of your bike? Without missing a beat, he says six
- 13:13thousand dollars, And without missing a beat, Stephen Curtis Chapman says, four
- 13:16thousand dollars your honor. And Phillip's like, no, it's six thousand dollars.
- 13:22And Steven's like, no, this is just a bite. It's not
- 13:24a Motorca motorsaw hog. Yeah, a hog if you will, and I
- 13:30will, and uh, Faith is like, actually, mister boda, Uh,
- 13:35Steven is closer to being correct mister Chapman's closure being correct. The Kelly
- 13:39Blue Book of value of your bike immense perfect condition is four thousand dollars.
- 13:43But the fair conditions in the threes and Phillip says, your honor, it's
- 13:46a custom bike. The tires alone were six hundred dollars. I promise you
- 13:50it's worth over that. And she says, well, that doesn't really matter,
- 13:54because you decided you wanted to make an even trade for this bike,
- 13:56right, and you're suing him not for the cost of the bike, but
- 14:01the cost of the boat. Why are you doing that? And he says
- 14:05very interesting, and he says, well, uh, I knew the water
- 14:09pump needed to be replaced, and so I went down to look at it,
- 14:13and then I saw under the boat that the transom was broken, like
- 14:16it was about to just completely. And when the transom's broken, it is
- 14:20a part of a boat that it kelps hold the engine up. I would
- 14:22assume it's something like the engine block. I don't know both, and he
- 14:26said, you know, upon cursory glance, he looked fixed, but once
- 14:31you got in and looked at it, someone had tried to put a cheap
- 14:33fiberglass piece on it to patch it together. And that really makes the boat
- 14:37completely worthless. And I've got plenty of pictures to show that that was the
- 14:41case. Fascinating yeah, so, but he already is this after he did
- 14:46the deal and he and she said, so you were able to see that
- 14:50on your own and he says, yes I was, and he's and and
- 14:52uh, why didn't he look at it before it? And he said why
- 14:54didn't you? She said, why didn't you look at before him? And
- 14:56I said, I'm a boat, newbie, That's what he says. I'm
- 14:58a boat and aubi. And so this is something that I thought was going
- 15:03to be the case. Steven says, Look, I'm the lord of the
- 15:07dance. Uh. And that was just an extra and thrown in because I
- 15:09just thought of it. Well, I'll just say that so far this deal
- 15:11seems like it has the fingerprints of God. All it has, you know,
- 15:15what it does covered with them, you would say, and faith.
- 15:18Before she rules, she says, imagine this. Uh, you get a
- 15:26phone call call from Regions. He says, do you want to be a
- 15:30millionaire? They put you on the show and you win with two lifelines to
- 15:35spare three lives. I think it's three. I think it's two. So
- 15:37he used the one he used, Well that's what the first millionaire did's he
- 15:41called his dad to say, that's try to win. But now I'm looking
- 15:43it up because I'm curious. We had two lifelines. Yeah, that sounds
- 15:48right. Three, yes, two, it's two, it's two, it's
- 15:52two. Three doesn't work. Three doesn't work. There, I'm going two
- 15:54lifelines, just sparever. That is not the right live out loud at all,
- 16:00Stephen Curtis Chapman, La la la la live Yeah too, that was
- 16:06right? How dare you question? So he is he's just taking that guy's
- 16:10story straight from TV. And yeah, that's right. That's always do it.
- 16:14Uh So anyway, uh, judge face is ready to rule. Okay,
- 16:19So what was the amount again? Five thousand dollars? I mean I
- 16:26feel like it is on him because he didn't do he didn't look at it
- 16:33beforehand. Just because you're a nube doesn't mean that that gives you, like
- 16:40a pass on not doing your due diligence. You to keep that. Yeah,
- 16:44but then bring a not boat nubie out like if you're not when you're
- 16:48a jungle, like, bring one out when when you're trading, when you're
- 16:52trading your your hog for a boat, you don't you bring you don't bring
- 16:59a hog to a boat. I don't do it. Bring ah, you
- 17:00bring a boat expert to see, hey, is this a fair deal?
- 17:04So I think it's one hundred on him, not the other guy's faults.
- 17:10I could see maybe giving some money because you could make the argument that what's
- 17:18his name Stephen Curtis liked did those repairs himself, and so he like it's
- 17:26on him a little bit. But I don't think it is. I'm not
- 17:27giving him any money. No money. So Faith asked Stephen Curtis one more
- 17:32question, which is uh, when you had the boat for a month and
- 17:34a half, did you have any issues? And he says nothing was wrong
- 17:37with the water pump, and then his wife pipes in and says, yeah,
- 17:38we took the family out on it several times. I sent him all
- 17:41these pictures. He knew ahead of time. Philip says, also the boat.
- 17:45He told me the boat had a four stroke motor and had a two
- 17:48stroke motor in it. And then Faith says, so the seller didn't know
- 17:52anything about the boat. And Philip goes, exactly, your honor, and
- 17:56she goes, no, I'm I'm not saying that to prove your point.
- 17:59I'm saying this isn't as is sale. It doesn't matter it's a boat.
- 18:03If the owner didn't know anything about the boat, that's not his problem,
- 18:07it's your problem. This ain't heaven in the real world, pal she said
- 18:11that she did. If you can believe it, man, this is real
- 18:15life. He doesn't have to know anything about the boat. It's Craigslist.
- 18:18There is no documentation. You're not getting any money. That's the end of
- 18:21the discussion. Boom Dancing with Cinderella. Cinderella. I don't know if we
- 18:26can bring that one up. Really. Oh yeah, I didn't know the
- 18:32exact name of it. I didn't even think about this circumstances surrounding it.
- 18:34Yeah, but I had done so well up to them, and there were
- 18:37no notes in here with any songs. No, that was all just now.
- 18:41Man, I can't wait until we start a ninety cc in podcast.
- 18:42It's happening. Oh, it's happening. Oh bring it. It's happening,
- 18:48all right, everybody. We did it. Me back next week with a
- 18:52bay side, if you can believe it. Maybe something else, who knows,
- 18:55I don't know. I don't freaking know. That's what next week holds.
- 18:57Maybe what's that sound? What I know is is who knows? When
- 19:00we're gonn announce the Lunch with the Boys. I don't. I mean,
- 19:03we've been trying to coordinate with Brian Harold's schedule to make sure he can't attend.
- 19:07It turns out that's harder than you think. Stuff when you know,
- 19:11just got nothing going on, you know, all right, next we can
- 19:17tell then all right, all right yo. Gabble Gabbles a Bramble Jam podcast
