- 0:15And here we are to the third hour The Morning Show with Preston Scott boldly
- 0:19moving forward. Wednesday, April twenty six I was known as the birthday of
- 0:26my daughter Courtney. Happy Birthday Show number forty nine sixteen Day eight twenty six
- 0:35of America held hostage on the final the fourth Wednesday, I should say,
- 0:40because there is occasionally a fifth Wednesday, and that's when we do our Q
- 0:43and A with the talent guys. But on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
- 0:47A Zeus Rodriguez is kind enough to get up very early and join us
- 0:52from his home in Arizona. He is a retired member of the United States
- 0:56Border Patrol, where he served as an agent for better than two decades,
- 0:59and he joined just again this morning. How are you, sir, Good
- 1:02morning, sir. Find yourself well, I'm doing great. I'm probably a
- 1:06lot more awake than you are at this point, but just a little early
- 1:11off here. It's only five o'clock. Hey, you sent me a note
- 1:17and you said that you had been informed that there had been on that given
- 1:22day. The day before April thirteenth was the day before a thousand apprehensions alone
- 1:30in one specific area. What's going on right now at the border, because
- 1:34it doesn't seem like the media is covering it very much. No, they're
- 1:38not going to cover anymore, I think, because I mean, it's they're
- 1:42moving on, it's it's it's still active out there. And so that was
- 1:47a thousand apprehensions in one in one entire group that they got on that particular
- 1:52day out there in West Texas. So I mean, it's it's not going
- 1:56to slow down, it's only gonna it's only gonna get worse because if you
- 2:00you know, we're in May already, so the heats like in this part
- 2:01of the country is already starting to kick up, and I'm sure along the
- 2:06southwest border's gonna think it's going to start to rise. So not only are
- 2:09going to deal with people that are coming across the legal league going to start
- 2:12dealing with people that are needed medical attention because of dehydration. What is your
- 2:17personal opinion and then what is the opinion of your former colleagues on why this
- 2:23is no longer of interest to the media. My opinion is in testing is
- 2:29if they moved on to other other news and they don't want to put a
- 2:34light on what's happening out there and then I think I mentioned it to you
- 2:37before. I mean, you know, and I tell people you can,
- 2:40you can deal with the traffic that's coming in and the people that are as
- 2:45you know, as we would call them quitters at the border, but I'd
- 2:50be very very concerned of what you're not catching and what you're not able to
- 2:53apprehend that are coming around the flanks. Who's coming in there, and what
- 2:58are they bringing? And so that's my concern is and the media, you
- 3:02know, doesn't look at that, and some of the some of the retirees
- 3:07that I speak to us and even some of the president agents you know that
- 3:09that are still out there, you know, the brunts that the guys are
- 3:14still out there, are just doing the job there. I mean, they're
- 3:17there's nothing the most more they can do. They're just doing the job as
- 3:21they're supposed to get done. And and if they're grumbling, they're going you
- 3:23know, to themselves. But at the end of the day, they you
- 3:27know, they know, they have a task to take care of. That's
- 3:30what they're focusing them. Do they feel like they can do that task though,
- 3:34because it seems, you know, I was talking earlier today about the
- 3:38fact that you know, the President of the United States, Joe Biden,
- 3:42is out there saying regarding the economy that you know, we're what we're doing
- 3:46is working. And I'm of the opinion that everything they're doing is very intentional.
- 3:52And so there's this idea that at the border, this is a very
- 3:55intentional set of decisions being made to not enforce border policy or law. They
- 4:04don't. I think they're just they're they're focused on what they have to do
- 4:11and they can't get caught up in the reason and what the what the policymakers
- 4:15and in DC are are deciding and what they're doing. I mean, at
- 4:19the end of the day, I mean, they have their marching orders.
- 4:21Like it or not, you got to you gotta do it, and so
- 4:26you know, you really they realize that they can apprehend all these all these
- 4:29large groups of people from all over the world basically, I mean from what
- 4:31I understand, it's all from all over the world. They're coming in and
- 4:34so and in places that you know, you would never have ever seen people
- 4:38from these countries come in there. Now they are. So they're just doing
- 4:42their jobs as it's supposed to do and process them as such. I mean,
- 4:46if they you know, if they get released, they get released,
- 4:47and there's really not much more you can do. You can only control what
- 4:51you can in front of you. You can't you know that policy that they
- 4:55make and decisions they make are above your pay grade. Two decades of doing
- 4:59more drive radio differently doing it his way like old Blue Eyes, except he
- 5:05has a little more hair. The Morning Show with Preston Scott talking about our
- 5:15southern border primarily, but you can also throw away in northern border issues with
- 5:20former US Border Patrol agent retired and Zus Rodriguez, what about the northern border.
- 5:26Do guys that work the south have any connection or hear anything about what's
- 5:32going on in the north. I'm sure if they have classmates or people that
- 5:36they work with in the past, I'm sure they hear here are the traffic
- 5:40that's happening there. But it's the same thing, I mean, not in
- 5:42the numbers that you see in the southern border, Preston, but you know
- 5:45the numbers of apprehensions have an increased in those in those areas, and so
- 5:48you don't have then when prior to my retirement, you didn't have the technology
- 5:56that they do in the southern border. So now I'm sure there's a lot
- 6:00more technology and they use to drones as well out there, so um,
- 6:04you know there is more more out there. So they're starting to see,
- 6:09you know, more more traffic out there as well. What is your opinion
- 6:15of Alejandro Mayorka's head of Homeland Security. You might not need to say anything
- 6:25more. I don't know, maybe a chuckle covers it. It's a it's
- 6:29a family show, fust and so I'm going to keep my my that that
- 6:31portion clean. But you know it, they're all they're all in lock and
- 6:36step in what they're doing. And like you just mentioned earlier, it's an
- 6:40intentional, intentional decisions than on what's doing out there. And so you still
- 6:44have like I mentioned prior, they still have those gaps in in the in
- 6:49the border wall. So guess what they're using. I mean, they can
- 6:53easily have closed those gaps, you know when the administration came into came into
- 6:58power, and they've left open and so you know, this is what's happening.
- 7:02You're getting all these people, like I mentioned, and all these people
- 7:04from all over the world, places that you've ever seen in before. Now
- 7:08they're now they're coming in. And so because they know, you know where
- 7:12it's passing to come on in and you know they're more likely to going to
- 7:15cut you loose and you're on your way. I've always I always try to
- 7:19give people context when I ask certain questions, and as best you can can
- 7:26you put a pie chart on the numbers that you know, we talk about
- 7:30gotaways. What percentage of the gotaways make up the total pie of illegal immigrants?
- 7:38Well, even prior to retirement person they would say that we would probably
- 7:43were only apprehending about I've always don't to say it was but half of that,
- 7:49if that, if of all that. But I think the gotaways are
- 7:55you know, it's one of thost unknown numbers of people that you don't know
- 7:58really how many you're they are getting away from you because at the end of
- 8:01the day, as you're following the footprints in the in the sand or in
- 8:07the ground, and you get to where what we would call a loadout spot
- 8:11where they would get into a vehicle, and you know they went north bomb
- 8:15from there. He only kind of guestimated by the number of shoeprints that were
- 8:20left in the in the in the soil. But keep in mind now it's
- 8:24no longer that easy, because these guys are being outfited. Was believe it
- 8:30or not. Carpet, so your standard everyday carpet that you have in your
- 8:33house. They put them on their shoes to hide those footprints. So you
- 8:37really, I mean, they're kind of guestimated. It's it's it's a crap
- 8:41to you how many things are getting away from you. It's it's almost as
- 8:45if they're raking behind themselves by wearing carpet under their shoes. Now, it's
- 8:48extremely hard, and I mean you really have to be a good sign cutter
- 8:52to pick up you know, uh, carpet sign on the on the ground.
- 8:56And if and mind you, if they're walking across sand, if they
- 9:00you get into what we would call a hardpan area or area where it was
- 9:03the ground was hard, it's extremely hard to cut them. And so you
- 9:07have to go up ahead and and you know, CB can reacquire the foot
- 9:11sign. Again, it's it's very difficult to find them like that. And
- 9:16you know, if you have air support, that helps out, If you
- 9:18have drones or you have other agents ahead of you were helping out. Again
- 9:22that helps out. But keep in mind that you know you're still having to
- 9:26deal with all these large groups out there, so they're tying up ages in
- 9:31the field, WFLA on your phone with the iHeart radio app and on hundreds
- 9:35of devices like Alexa, Google Home, Xbox, and Sonos and Ihearts radio
- 9:41station. Hey, sus Sean Riguez has spent better than two decades or did
- 9:52spend better than two decades serving the United States on the southern border as a
- 9:58US border troll agent and is kind of our guest expert now on the program
- 10:03and has been for the last couple of years. ZEUS. We talk often
- 10:07about gotaways. We talk about those that just come to the I guess the
- 10:11border crossing areas and surrender themselves. Is it fair to assume that anybody that's
- 10:20not going to the actual checkpoints are attempting to become a got away that want
- 10:26to enter this country and not be processed, not be caught, not be
- 10:31granted asylum, but just get into the country illegally. Oh yeah, because
- 10:35you you might have criminal history here in the United States. The entire deports
- 10:41my multiple reports under their belt, so they may you know, they're they're
- 10:45trying to get away and avoid apprehensive because they get caught. Again, there's
- 10:48that possibility that they have an active warrant that still they can you know,
- 10:52they can go back to the jurisdiction that they came from or that they're going
- 10:56to get. They'll get caught and then spend more time in the facility,
- 11:01in a potential facility, and then get deported again. So yeah, there's
- 11:05there, there's goals people are avoiding at all costs. Or if they get
- 11:09caught, they'll be in a certain city perhaps and they'll be turned right loose
- 11:13so and and no one's cooperating with uh you know, uh customs and border
- 11:20enforcement, and so they just get to wander around and commit crimes. Um.
- 11:24Well, yeah, it's like those ones that get caught right and they
- 11:28don't and the jurisdiction doesn't work with ice. Yeah, I mean those that's
- 11:31the possible, that's the strong possibilities as well. You've seen that happen before.
- 11:35We were talking about the many things that that hamstring those who serve on
- 11:41our border trying to help keep our nation secure. Um, I liken them
- 11:46to have in your own security guard around your your home and your fence around
- 11:50your home that if they're busy doing other things, they can't really do their
- 11:56job and and how they are burdened by the sheer numbers. Here explain a
- 12:01little bit about kind of the how that all works. So if you,
- 12:09if you, if you are dealing with with the group, a large group
- 12:13that just quits on the border, you have to go down there and then
- 12:16you have to you know, do the search of all of them, their
- 12:18bags themselves. You have to start feel processing them out there. Okay,
- 12:22give me give me some context here. Let's let's say we've got three hundred
- 12:28people, and how many of you guys are going are having to go down
- 12:33there. It depends on the shift present. It can be anywhere from ten
- 12:39agents to even five to six ejs. And so you're separating the groups by
- 12:43by gender, by male, female, and the families of the children.
- 12:48You separate those those individuals and you start off, um and with the heat
- 12:52coming on, you're starting off with the with the families, the children and
- 12:56they and the females. Okay, let me, let me let me throw
- 12:58away hypothetical at you. Because Democrats just a few days ago in the House
- 13:03and the Senate introduced a bill that would require you all on the border.
- 13:09And I say you and the you know what, I mean that would require
- 13:11border patrol to set aside another category and give them vulnerable person's status, and
- 13:20that would be people that identify as LGBTQ. Plus how much harder is that
- 13:26going to make this process? That would make it harder because if if there's
- 13:31policy in there that requires you to transport them separately to you know, to
- 13:35house them separately, so that adds more to it. Now for you know,
- 13:41you would you could you know your natural's questions, you just process them
- 13:45ass such and give them the detension stilty. And now unless someone in my
- 13:50career trust and I only have maybe one two cases that I can remember when
- 13:54someone said that they were, you know, homosexual or or anything else like
- 14:00that, by and large, they were all brought in the same in the
- 14:03same group. Now they come up with a policy like that that they may
- 14:07require the agent to transport him separately and to put them in a cell separately
- 14:11from everybody else. So that just adds to it. And so you're now
- 14:16dealing three, four or five, maybe up to ten agents are having to
- 14:20process hundreds of people. So while this is going on, who's minding the
- 14:24shop, who's out catching the gutaways, Who's who's enforcing the other parts of
- 14:31the border. If you're lucky, you have horspitral out there. If you're
- 14:33lucky, you might have bipatroy TVs. But again, it depends on each
- 14:37individual station and depends on how big the group is, how many agents is
- 14:43they gonna need to take to get those bodies from let's say, from the
- 14:48desert, out the detention or to a station or you know, a processing
- 14:52facility where you can start the processing of them. And so it just varies
- 14:56on what station you're at. And and again you know it's the heat's gonna
- 15:03plays a huge role. You you know, you got to get him in
- 15:05and get him modest quick as you can, because you go from from somebody
- 15:09who may be okay, but with a heat coming on that you need to
- 15:11get him out before something something serious happens. Now you've got another issue in
- 15:16your hand. Now you've got medical issues to deal with it out there.
- 15:18So you know, it's it's a big it's a huge headache. We got
- 15:24a lot to talk about a month from now, consious stuff we didn't get
- 15:28to. I want to talk about states sovereignty, what's to what states should
- 15:33be could be? Do they do and what's happened in your state in Arizona
- 15:37since Katie Hobbs took office as governor. Jeseus. The time goes by fast.
- 15:43Thanks for it, and I appreciate you joining us. Okay, take
- 15:46care, thank you, thank you, sir, and as always, thank
- 15:50you for serving our country. Thanks to all who served to protect our borders.
- 15:56We're being invaded, friends, twenty seven minutes after the hour
