- 3:05Speaker 3: in with Wilson and Meadows as they began get ready
- 3:08Speaker 3: to broadcast from another exciting day under the Dome. I
- 3:12Speaker 3: got something on that I want to say a little
- 3:14Speaker 3: bit later on as well. But history was made recently
- 3:18Speaker 3: as the Kenawa County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Joe Crawford,
- 3:21Speaker 3: named Lieutenant Anna Pyle as the first female chief of
- 3:25Speaker 3: Detectives in the department's history. She joins us this morning
- 3:27Speaker 3: in the Jered Construction Studios. Good morning, welcome to the show.
- 3:30Speaker 6: Good morning, Thank you for having me, Thank.
- 3:32Speaker 3: You for being her. Tell us a little about you.
- 3:34Speaker 3: It was law enforcements, something you always wanted to do
- 3:38Speaker 3: growing up, something you got into later. Give us the
- 3:40Speaker 3: bio on Anna Pyle.
- 3:42Speaker 6: Oh, the bio. I would say, it's been a gradual
- 3:45Speaker 6: progression toward law enforcement. You know, I can give the
- 3:49Speaker 6: blanket answer. I know most police officers are going to say,
- 3:52Speaker 6: as I got into law enforcement to help people, and
- 3:54Speaker 6: that's astely, absolutely true, But there's a lot more to that.
- 3:58Speaker 6: You know. I grew up watching you know, Miami Vice.
- 4:02Speaker 6: I thought that was an awesome show. I was sneaking
- 4:05Speaker 6: in the hallway to watch that while my parents thought
- 4:07Speaker 6: I was in bed.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Were you able were you able to ascertain or to
- 4:11Speaker 3: figure out as a detective, how they afforded those cars?
- 4:14Speaker 3: Did you figure that out yet? Because you have yet
- 4:17Speaker 3: to get those cars? You're not in a cuntosh? Is
- 4:19Speaker 3: that what you're saying? You're not in the Ferrari? Absolutely?
- 4:22Speaker 3: All right, go ahead. Sorry, I had to throw that in.
- 4:25Speaker 6: And then, to be honest, one of my favorite movies
- 4:28Speaker 6: was Silence in the Lambs, so that got me thinking
- 4:32Speaker 6: along the federal side of law enforcement. Luckily, I attended
- 4:38Speaker 6: West Virginia State and I got to play softball there,
- 4:41Speaker 6: so I was there on a scholarship, so that kept
- 4:43Speaker 6: me here, and then I majored in criminal justice while there, and.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Big shout out to West Virginia State.
- 4:50Speaker 6: Absolutely it was state college back then. Obviously now it's
- 4:53Speaker 6: a university. So then I thought I want to attend
- 4:58Speaker 6: law school. So that kind of fell through. You may
- 5:01Speaker 6: or may not have gotten the best l SAT score.
- 5:04Speaker 6: And then Kinnaw County Sheriff's Office was hiring and just
- 5:08Speaker 6: thank god, I think malucky stars that I applied there
- 5:11Speaker 6: got hired, and I have now been there twenty years.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Twenty years, and I guess you've done you know, all
- 5:16Speaker 3: the things in within the Sheriff's department. I mean, you've done.
- 5:19Speaker 6: You know, everybody's going to start out in road patrol.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Sure, that's the first thing. Absolutely they throw you on. Right,
- 5:24Speaker 3: do you remember the first person maybe that you be
- 5:28Speaker 3: pulled over for a speeding and fraction of the first
- 5:30Speaker 3: person you arrested. I don't need their name, but but
- 5:32Speaker 3: do you do you have a memory of that? Because
- 5:34Speaker 3: I always thought that first one. I don't know, and
- 5:36Speaker 3: I don't know the first I mean I know a
- 5:38Speaker 3: little about law enforcement because of my friends that are
- 5:40Speaker 3: in it. But I would presume that you know, when
- 5:43Speaker 3: you go out there, you're not alone. They'll have somebody
- 5:46Speaker 3: out there with you. I would, I would guess in
- 5:47Speaker 3: your training period. But do you remember that first?
- 5:49Speaker 6: Absolutely, you're out there with training officers for your first
- 5:52Speaker 6: couple of months. Okay, so that would have occurred with them,
- 5:55Speaker 6: and they push you doing a lot of traffic stops,
- 5:58Speaker 6: trying to get as many arrests and getting involved in
- 6:00Speaker 6: as much as you can while you're on that field
- 6:03Speaker 6: training program. So to say, I remember one that stands
- 6:06Speaker 6: out no home, not at this point.
- 6:08Speaker 3: And are you a Knawk County native? I mean you
- 6:10Speaker 3: from here?
- 6:10Speaker 6: I am. I attend to South Charleston High School.
- 6:12Speaker 3: All right, you're getting all the name drops in there.
- 6:15Speaker 3: We've got South Charleston and we got West Virginia State'll
- 6:18Speaker 3: that'll make Frank Mullins the mayor, and I'll also make
- 6:20Speaker 3: Eric Cage over at at State very happy.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Again.
- 6:23Speaker 3: We're talking Anna Pyle, who is the first female Chief
- 6:26Speaker 3: of Detectives in the history of the Kanaw County Sheriff's Department.
- 6:29Speaker 3: The Dave Island Show in five Ady Live brought to
- 6:31Speaker 3: you inparted by Pinnacle Consultants. They're lead Paint Inspection and
- 6:34Speaker 3: Risk Assessment service designed to identify and to assess the
- 6:37Speaker 3: presence of lead based paint and buildings and other structures
- 6:40Speaker 3: using a three phase approach of inspection, sampling, the lab analysis,
- 6:43Speaker 3: and assessment report. To visit Pinnacle Corp. Dot in that
- 6:46Speaker 3: because what you don't know can't hurt you, So explain
- 6:49Speaker 3: exactly the role of the Chief of Detectives. I mean,
- 6:53Speaker 3: you hear that a lot. I know you know Cydnia
- 6:55Speaker 3: Charleston has one in various departments. But what's what's I
- 6:58Speaker 3: know in law enforcement, there's no such thing as an
- 7:00Speaker 3: average day, But what does the chief of detectives actually do?
- 7:04Speaker 7: You know?
- 7:05Speaker 6: At Kinnall County Sheriff's Office, we have, including myself and
- 7:08Speaker 6: the assistant Chief of Detectives, we've got twelve total, So
- 7:13Speaker 6: me and my assistant oversee ten detectives, so we assign
- 7:18Speaker 6: their cases. We get calls from our road patrol officers
- 7:22Speaker 6: to tell us, you know, I'm on this type of call.
- 7:25Speaker 6: Do you all want to respond? Or they may call
- 7:27Speaker 6: and say we need you to respond, we need your assistance.
- 7:30Speaker 6: And then the detective Bureau we primarily focus on a
- 7:33Speaker 6: lot of the major crimes, the sexual assaults, the child abuse,
- 7:37Speaker 6: the homicides, fraud cases, it runs the gamut, and we
- 7:42Speaker 6: also investigate misdemeanors. But we're definitely our primary goal is
- 7:47Speaker 6: to assist road patrol with any cases they may have.
- 7:52Speaker 6: And then so that's kind of the day to day.
- 7:54Speaker 6: You're right, it's random. We deal with lots of different
- 7:57Speaker 6: scenarios every day.
- 7:58Speaker 3: One of the things that's always interested me and I've
- 8:00Speaker 3: talked to Joe Crawford and former sheriff Rutherford about this
- 8:04Speaker 3: as well. Uh, and even to our elected officials that
- 8:07Speaker 3: cover kanaw County. Kanawak County is a big old county. Yes,
- 8:09Speaker 3: I mean it really is. And uh and I mean,
- 8:13Speaker 3: and it's a very diverse county too. I mean the problems,
- 8:16Speaker 3: some of the problems may be the same, but maybe
- 8:18Speaker 3: even the types of people that you deal with in
- 8:21Speaker 3: Cabin Creek, Tornado, New filand not necessarily what you're dealing
- 8:25Speaker 3: with in an area like South Hill, South Charles. I
- 8:28Speaker 3: know a lot of that's Charleston City of Charleston Police
- 8:30Speaker 3: Department or the various others. Uh, but uh, you know,
- 8:33Speaker 3: it's it's it's a big area with a lot of
- 8:35Speaker 3: different types of people.
- 8:36Speaker 6: You're absolutely right, lets of associate economic factors that play there.
- 8:41Speaker 8: You know.
- 8:41Speaker 6: We we've got it divided into four different areas. We
- 8:45Speaker 6: patrol the West, the East, Oak View area, in the
- 8:48Speaker 6: Sistainville area, and just I mean imagine that's a lot
- 8:52Speaker 6: of square.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Knowledge to cover it is and sometimes you're doing it
- 8:55Speaker 3: with not as many people, uh, as as you need
- 8:59Speaker 3: on the team. And that's a recurring problem in law
- 9:03Speaker 3: enforcement throughout the country. I've talked to several people on
- 9:05Speaker 3: the show about that how do you encourage people to
- 9:08Speaker 3: want to do this for a living? Because I mean,
- 9:10Speaker 3: it's a special I've always said, and that there's certain
- 9:15Speaker 3: there's the three or four or five different professions that
- 9:17Speaker 3: you got to really want to do it. Being a
- 9:18Speaker 3: teacher is one. I think being in a medical field
- 9:21Speaker 3: is one, but I also think law enforcement is one.
- 9:23Speaker 3: To how do you what do we do to encourage
- 9:26Speaker 3: people to take your career path? You said you've done
- 9:28Speaker 3: this twenty years and you thank the Lord above that
- 9:31Speaker 3: you were able to do this and make that decision.
- 9:33Speaker 3: But how do we sell this to get people to
- 9:36Speaker 3: want to do this for a living?
- 9:39Speaker 8: Dave?
- 9:39Speaker 6: If you could give me that answer, it would tremendously
- 9:42Speaker 6: help with our recruiting. It's a major problem nationwide. I
- 9:46Speaker 6: wish that I knew the perfect thing to say to
- 9:49Speaker 6: give somebody incentive to want to do this. But you're
- 9:51Speaker 6: absolutely right, you've got to want to do it. You
- 9:55Speaker 6: need a good support with your friends, your family. It
- 9:59Speaker 6: can be stressed.
- 10:00Speaker 3: It's very hard on the family. Me because I heard
- 10:03Speaker 3: an officer one time tell me that when I signed
- 10:07Speaker 3: up to be an officer, so did my wife and
- 10:09Speaker 3: so did my kids, and so did my parents, and
- 10:11Speaker 3: truthday on down the line. I mean, it's everybody wears
- 10:14Speaker 3: a badge in the family. It seems like it's very accurate. Yeah, well,
- 10:19Speaker 3: are you surprised that it took this long for there
- 10:21Speaker 3: to be a female chief of Texas?
- 10:25Speaker 6: No, and that's because there's been lots of great leaders
- 10:29Speaker 6: in that position. I mean there have. I've been surrounded
- 10:32Speaker 6: by leaders. I've I've looked up to many great leaders
- 10:36Speaker 6: in my career. And that's not to say there haven't
- 10:39Speaker 6: been great females before me. There's going to be great
- 10:42Speaker 6: females after me, and they're going to do great things.
- 10:46Speaker 6: I was just fortunate that, you know, he was Lieutenant Snuffer,
- 10:50Speaker 6: chief of detectives at the time he got promoted to
- 10:54Speaker 6: chief of the Kenwall County Sheriff's Office, and I was
- 10:58Speaker 6: next in line, and luckily they felt that I was capable,
- 11:02Speaker 6: you know, to take over the position.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Well, we certainly wish you the best of luck. You know,
- 11:08Speaker 3: you're with one of the premier in my opinion, and
- 11:10Speaker 3: I'm a little bit biased because I'm friends with a
- 11:12Speaker 3: lot of those folks, but you're one of the premier
- 11:14Speaker 3: law enforcement agencies. In the in the state of West Virginia,
- 11:18Speaker 3: you know, under under Joe Crawford's and Sheriff En Rutherford
- 11:21Speaker 3: before that. Any let's see, I guess I'll all end
- 11:26Speaker 3: up by saying, as far as the female chief of
- 11:28Speaker 3: Detectives go, I think we'll get to a point and
- 11:31Speaker 3: you said maybe long after you and I are gone
- 11:33Speaker 3: where it's just it's just Chief of Detectives. And it's
- 11:36Speaker 3: not first female chief or second female chief or whatever.
- 11:39Speaker 3: It's just Chief of Detectives period. It won't matter. Yes,
- 11:42Speaker 3: it's not going to matter.
- 11:44Speaker 8: You know.
- 11:44Speaker 6: Right now we are operating one i'll say, about one
- 11:47Speaker 6: hundred and five deputies total, and out of that one
- 11:50Speaker 6: hundred and five, we have about five females. So we
- 11:53Speaker 6: don't make up much of the department. But hopefully that
- 11:56Speaker 6: will grow and hopefully, you know, females are going to
- 11:59Speaker 6: find their niche in this profession and they're just going
- 12:04Speaker 6: to continue to climb.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Well, it's a pleasure to have you on the show
- 12:08Speaker 3: and get to know you, Lieutenant Anna Pile. Now do
- 12:11Speaker 3: you keep the title lieutenant or yes? Okay, you're still
- 12:14Speaker 3: Lieutenant Annapolo. Okay, but you're also the first female chief
- 12:17Speaker 3: of detectives for the Kenawa County Sheriff's Department. I appreciate
- 12:20Speaker 3: you here. Be safe out there. And the thing about
- 12:24Speaker 3: law enforcement, I mean, you folks have my utmost respect
- 12:27Speaker 3: for what you do on a daily basis, and I
- 12:29Speaker 3: think I speak on behalf of all my listeners. It's
- 12:31Speaker 3: just like with a military person when you say thank
- 12:33Speaker 3: you for your service. You folks, emergency services, when you're
- 12:36Speaker 3: driving an ambulance, driving a police car, whatever, you folks
- 12:39Speaker 3: are the real heroes. Keep doing what you do.
- 12:40Speaker 6: Okay, thank you very much.

- 14:06Speaker 5: but some politicians right here in West Virginia are going
- 14:10Speaker 5: way too far. They're pushing a ban on safe ingredients
- 14:14Speaker 5: in our grocery stores. That ban would jack up prices
- 14:17Speaker 5: on almost everything we buy. Banning these types of ingredients
- 14:21Speaker 5: would eliminate sixty percent of the food on grocery shelves,
- 14:24Speaker 5: hiking prices even more when we're already struggling worse. It
- 14:29Speaker 5: would cost thousands of jobs all across West Virginia. Governor
- 14:33Speaker 5: Morrissey can stop this reckless ban and veto it. We
- 14:37Speaker 5: just can't afford it. It goes way too far. There

- 15:53Speaker 3: you an example, you know, because to me, it always
- 15:55Speaker 3: goes back to sports. Everything in my life seems to
- 15:58Speaker 3: go back to sports or food. In the nineteen seventies,
- 16:02Speaker 3: it was very, very rare to have a black quarterback
- 16:05Speaker 3: in the NFL or a black head coach, and a
- 16:09Speaker 3: lot of those folks that were trailblazers back then said
- 16:12Speaker 3: I don't want to be I want to get away
- 16:14Speaker 3: from that. And I don't. And I think we have.
- 16:20Speaker 3: I think we have because no longer it's not a
- 16:21Speaker 3: big deal. I mean, James Harris of the Rams and
- 16:25Speaker 3: Chargers was one of the first black quarterbacks in the NFL,
- 16:29Speaker 3: and I think in an interview one time he said, look,
- 16:30Speaker 3: I just want to be I mean, it's just a quarterback,
- 16:32Speaker 3: no matter who they're playing for and that's where we
- 16:34Speaker 3: have become. And I think that's but I think it's
- 16:37Speaker 3: I'm kind of a history buff too. I think that
- 16:39Speaker 3: you should recognize that this is a pretty big deal.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I agree in part with what the text is saying.
- 16:47Speaker 4: I really do.
- 16:49Speaker 3: But when you have somebody in the entire history of
- 16:52Speaker 3: the Knaw County Sheriff's Department and they've never had a
- 16:54Speaker 3: female chief of Detectives, I think it's pretty dang sweet myself.
- 17:02Speaker 3: Texas congrats to her for the new job. In title,
- 17:06Speaker 3: it's our new climate. Now are we supposed to celebrate
- 17:08Speaker 3: first for different sexes and races? Seems contrary to what's
- 17:10Speaker 3: going on in our state and federal government. Says A Texture. Texays,
- 17:17Speaker 3: good interview, good story. Well, I appreciate that Texas singular
- 17:23Speaker 3: pet peeve. Any female eighteen or older is a woman
- 17:27Speaker 3: or even a lady. Angie Dickinson was policewoman in the seventies,
- 17:30Speaker 3: fifty years ago, not police female. Linda Carter was wonder woman,
- 17:35Speaker 3: not wonder female. Just say the Charleston Police deenviroment wants
- 17:39Speaker 3: more women to apply, not more female comps semantics. I guess, okay,
- 17:45Speaker 3: all right, point well taken, tex says, Hey, Dave, hear
- 17:50Speaker 3: that it's a collective sound of speakers, earbuds and car
- 17:53Speaker 3: stereos going off. Good morning, Greg Thomains. Now that's not
- 17:57Speaker 3: entirely the case. And I got stuff that we can
- 18:00Speaker 3: back that up with to tell you that when some
- 18:02Speaker 3: of these lightning rods, I call them lightning rods, and
- 18:05Speaker 3: I use that in a very very positive tone. When
- 18:09Speaker 3: we have people like it, Greg Thomas, like a Mike
- 18:13Speaker 3: Pushkin on the show, more people listen, you know. So there,
- 18:21Speaker 3: so there, oh man, text are still coming in here.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Let me see.
- 18:26Speaker 4: Texas.
- 18:27Speaker 3: ESPN fired Rush Limbaugh because he said the Eagles were
- 18:30Speaker 3: eager to seek a black quarterback to succeed Donovan McNabb. Well,
- 18:33Speaker 3: that wasn't the only reason Rush Limbaugh got fired from
- 18:36Speaker 3: the NFL. And look, I'm I was a Rush fan,
- 18:37Speaker 3: but that wasn't the only reason he got fired. But

- 19:11Speaker 4: Who you far and through?
- 19:12Speaker 8: Last week? When you said the crazy cat lady?
- 19:15Speaker 4: You remember that?
- 19:15Speaker 3: That was last week?
- 19:16Speaker 8: Man?
- 19:16Speaker 3: You expect me to remember that?
- 19:18Speaker 8: Well?
- 19:19Speaker 3: Yeah, what did I say?
- 19:21Speaker 4: How's that?
- 19:22Speaker 3: How's that called her?
- 19:23Speaker 11: What did I say?
- 19:24Speaker 8: Something going on? You said, Oh, well, it's not it's
- 19:27Speaker 8: not like the lazy crazy cat lady.
- 19:30Speaker 6: I don't know who you meant.
- 19:31Speaker 3: I don't remember either, but I have nothing against crazy

- 19:45Speaker 3: I don't. Okay, but uh point, I'll go back and
- 19:49Speaker 3: I tried to get an answer for you.
- 19:50Speaker 4: How's that?
- 19:51Speaker 8: Okay?
- 19:52Speaker 11: Thank you?
- 19:52Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 19:53Speaker 3: I honestly don't remember saying that maybe I did. I
- 19:58Speaker 3: don't remember. I remember what I did yesterday. Man, Come on,
- 20:01Speaker 3: I'm old, Tex says, what is a woman? Even our
- 20:07Speaker 3: liberal Supreme Court justice could not answer that easy question. Well,
- 20:12Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not getting into all that. I had
- 20:17Speaker 3: never met Lieutenant now chief of detective's pile until today,
- 20:23Speaker 3: I can confirm that she was indeed a woman.
- 20:26Speaker 7: She was.

- 21:15Speaker 3: They're sentencing yesterday in the court room of Judge Mary
- 21:18Speaker 3: clare Acres. They were convicted of thirty one to thirty
- 21:21Speaker 3: five counts of child abuse and neglect, forced labor, and
- 21:24Speaker 3: human trafficking and they got the max yesterday. Jean Whitefeather
- 21:28Speaker 3: got I'm sorry, two hundred and fifteen years in prison
- 21:33Speaker 3: and Donald Ray Lance got one hundred and sixty years.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Quote from Judge Mary clair Acres, you brought to these
- 21:41Speaker 3: children to West Virginia, a place that I know is
- 21:44Speaker 3: almost have it, and you put them in hell. This
- 21:47Speaker 3: court will now put you in yours. And may God
- 21:50Speaker 3: have mercy on your soul because the court will not

- 23:43Speaker 3: as I said, you know, I'd like to give credit

- 23:50Speaker 3: the party putting it together and the Democrats who or
- 23:53Speaker 3: whomever put this together. It's just a medley, if you will,
- 23:57Speaker 3: of dumb sounding things being said by certain members of

- 24:08Speaker 3: H So just it was one of those just wow moments.

- 29:00Speaker 3: tell you, I don't worry a lot about stuff like
- 29:03Speaker 3: that in West Virginia. I remember the country singer Jason

- 29:09Speaker 3: a small town, Try that in West Virginia, which, by
- 29:12Speaker 3: the way, it was you talk about a manufactured controversy

- 29:19Speaker 4: Do you remember that.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Great great and people saying he's not really from a
- 29:22Speaker 3: small town. Well, I'm sorry, but John Lennon and Paul
- 29:26Speaker 3: McCartney also were not Walrus's as they sang in you know,

- 29:45Speaker 16: I didn't have the sound on I was like, but
- 29:48Speaker 16: I saw I like, I was watching it and I
- 29:50Speaker 16: was watching the sort of subtitle things or whatever, and.
- 29:53Speaker 3: This was on the on the motorcycle thing.
- 29:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I saw it.
- 29:57Speaker 7: You know.
- 29:57Speaker 16: I think if I were a legislator, uh, I would
- 30:02Speaker 16: speak when I really knew something very well. And I
- 30:06Speaker 16: don't think a lot of our legislators hold themselves to that.
- 30:12Speaker 16: Sometimes people just like to uh talk, you know. And
- 30:17Speaker 16: there are certain people that like the sound of their
- 30:19Speaker 16: own voice more than others.
- 30:22Speaker 3: And you gotta admit. And again, I know I give
- 30:27Speaker 3: credit where credit. It's funny's funny, and I don't care
- 30:29Speaker 3: whether I even agree with it or not. If I
- 30:30Speaker 3: can admit something's funny. Whoever put that video together?
- 30:34Speaker 11: Uh?
- 30:34Speaker 3: And again you can check it out. It's on Dave
- 30:36Speaker 3: aland Radio and it's also on at dave A seventy
- 30:38Speaker 3: on Twitter on x uh that that was pretty funny.
- 30:41Speaker 3: I mean, it really was. And in the argue and
- 30:44Speaker 3: again I said earlier to show Greg. If you don't
- 30:46Speaker 3: want to wear a helmet, don't we I'm not a
- 30:47Speaker 3: motorcycle rider. If I were, i'd wear a helmet. But
- 30:49Speaker 3: that's just me. I'm not one. If you want to.
- 30:52Speaker 3: I think that if you don't wear one, maybe you
- 30:54Speaker 3: should forego your your insurance claims. You know, why should
- 30:57Speaker 3: we pay for it if you're dumbing up? I wear
- 31:00Speaker 3: What if I didn't pay attention to that debate at all?
- 31:02Speaker 3: I knew I knew I knew of it, but I
- 31:04Speaker 3: didn't pay attention to it. But I bet I wonder
- 31:06Speaker 3: if anybody did come in and say, like, what's like,
- 31:09Speaker 3: what your insurance rate's going to be like on? I mean,
- 31:11Speaker 3: I bet they're going to be skyrocketing. I mean, but
- 31:14Speaker 3: and where are we on being able to stand up
- 31:16Speaker 3: and ride a motorcycle? That was one of the things
- 31:18Speaker 3: that was being even I mean again getting credit for
- 31:21Speaker 3: credit to do Flew Hardy. Yesterday somebody I didn't see it,
- 31:23Speaker 3: but somebody played the clip in the office of flu
- 31:26Speaker 3: Hardy talking about evil and evil, and uh, Flew Hardy
- 31:30Speaker 3: said something to the effect, I'm very much paraphrasing that
- 31:34Speaker 3: since we're talking about motorcycles, if you put all of
- 31:36Speaker 3: the bad bills that they have tried that they've discussed,
- 31:39Speaker 3: that evil can eevil wouldn't be able to jump them.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Since we're talking says yesterday apparently was Motorcycle Day there.
- 31:45Speaker 3: So anyway, you know, uh, we started this new show
- 31:48Speaker 3: Greg next week, and I want the record to show
- 31:51Speaker 3: that I did reach out to you about being one
- 31:53Speaker 3: of the first guests. Unfortunately, you are going to be
- 31:55Speaker 3: out of town and you're not going to be one
- 31:58Speaker 3: of the first guests in the new Metro Metro News
- 32:00Speaker 3: mid day show. But in order to replace you, I
- 32:03Speaker 3: have names like Justice, Morrissey, and Mansion. Oh it took
- 32:08Speaker 3: all three of them.
- 32:12Speaker 4: Well, those are some pretty big names. I think. Uh, look,
- 32:14Speaker 4: I've told you before.
- 32:15Speaker 16: I mean you you do you know, I do a
- 32:17Speaker 16: lot of talk radio, and not just this market but
- 32:20Speaker 16: around the state, and do a lot of the state
- 32:22Speaker 16: wide and you do a great job with this. I
- 32:25Speaker 16: think you know you're deserving of this new show. I mean,
- 32:28Speaker 16: I'm going to be a listener, and obviously you appreciate
- 32:30Speaker 16: the opportunity to be a guest. And uh and uh,
- 32:33Speaker 16: I you know, I had some long, long, long scheduled
- 32:36Speaker 16: travel for next.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Week or I would have been there.
- 32:38Speaker 16: But but yeah, man, I'm excited about it.
- 32:41Speaker 4: I think it's you know, look, West.
- 32:43Speaker 16: Virginia is a community, you know, it's one of the
- 32:45Speaker 16: things we probably you know, back to your small town thing, right.
- 32:47Speaker 16: I mean it's one thing that West Virginians really like
- 32:49Speaker 16: to say. It's like we're community based and and you
- 32:52Speaker 16: do a good job of that here with this show.
- 32:54Speaker 16: I mean, yeah, you have some political guests like me on,
- 32:57Speaker 16: but you know, you have you know, you have got
- 33:00Speaker 16: and officials, you have law enforcement, you have nonprofits, you know, uh,
- 33:05Speaker 16: you know take you know, will you be taking calls.
- 33:08Speaker 4: On so the ship?
- 33:10Speaker 3: No, I'm asking you if you want to take them, Oh,
- 33:12Speaker 3: somebody wants to.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Talk to you.
- 33:13Speaker 16: I'll take calls. I take calls, take text whatever. Okay,
- 33:16Speaker 16: but with your show, are you going to be taking
- 33:18Speaker 16: calls in certain portions? Because you know, Amanda Baron is
- 33:22Speaker 16: an actual journalist. Yeah, she is an actual newsperson. And
- 33:27Speaker 16: sometimes with those I'll handle the majority of the calls.
- 33:30Speaker 3: I'm just saying I'll probably will. Well, I'll take care.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Because I like that though.
- 33:34Speaker 16: You know, I'm on a show in Wheeling and they
- 33:36Speaker 16: take texts but not calls, and it's okay.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Well, you know, talk radio has changed greatly. I mean
- 33:42Speaker 3: since I started doing it. I won't eve been doing
- 33:44Speaker 3: this for five years. You know, a talk radio format
- 33:46Speaker 3: and it's changed greatly because there are very like sports line,
- 33:50Speaker 3: you know, hotline, they don't they don't take because people
- 33:52Speaker 3: just don't call.
- 33:53Speaker 4: They text. Now that's what people don't call in real life.
- 33:56Speaker 4: And that's what I got. That's what the guy in
- 33:57Speaker 4: Wheeling tells me.
- 33:58Speaker 16: He was like, he was like, you had the calls,
- 33:59Speaker 16: and he was like, but you know, you've got to
- 34:00Speaker 16: set up all you know, you gotta have all this
- 34:02Speaker 16: technology to be able to do it.
- 34:03Speaker 4: And he goes that nobody calls. He goes text, Well,
- 34:05Speaker 4: we did.
- 34:06Speaker 3: The reason I was asking this because apparently someone has
- 34:08Speaker 3: a question, are you good to take a phone call?
- 34:09Speaker 7: I and do it?
- 34:10Speaker 4: Everything all right?
- 34:10Speaker 3: Ryan, Greg is ready to go? Go ahead, you're on
- 34:14Speaker 3: the air. Go ahead.
- 34:16Speaker 11: Yes, I was calling about basically a little bit off subjects.
- 34:19Speaker 11: There's a lot of bills running through the state legislature now,
- 34:24Speaker 11: and I applauded the average of your previous guests, the
- 34:27Speaker 11: lady that was the chief detective, but the Sheriff's department.
- 34:32Speaker 11: A lot of the state civil service workers are in
- 34:37Speaker 11: positions to calls of the service program, and there's a
- 34:40Speaker 11: move of the legislature to do away with the civil
- 34:43Speaker 11: service program. For state workers other workers, and it's really
- 34:48Speaker 11: kind of seems like that's a real assault on the
- 34:51Speaker 11: state employees and the business of West Virginia doing the
- 34:55Speaker 11: right thing. Civil service came along because of the nepotism
- 34:58Speaker 11: and the favoritism, and big business pushes a lot of
- 35:02Speaker 11: stuff going on in West Virginia. So you've got law enforcement,
- 35:06Speaker 11: you've got state workers of enforcement issues, and big business
- 35:10Speaker 11: say I don't like susy because she wrote me a
- 35:13Speaker 11: ticket for that, and they met them, moved out, or
- 35:16Speaker 11: they put their friends in. That's a situation that becomes
- 35:19Speaker 11: a real problem in West Virginia. Employees and teachers, the
- 35:24Speaker 11: law enforcement, we are the low run of pay and
- 35:29Speaker 11: UH and benefits as a state on a lot of
- 35:32Speaker 11: the things that we should be hired uh now, and
- 35:35Speaker 11: then they take assault on some of the insurance bet
- 35:38Speaker 11: church is a bad problem anyways. With the p i A,
- 35:42Speaker 11: the business of West Virginia is really going to be
- 35:44Speaker 11: stuck in the lowest of the lowest. We don't take
- 35:48Speaker 11: care of the teachers, the law enforcement, and the people
- 35:51Speaker 11: that make the state go and UH. I don't know
- 35:54Speaker 11: if you have any comments on matter's on it, but
- 35:59Speaker 11: but what's going on on Okay.
- 36:00Speaker 3: We appreciate the call. Thanks a lot, Greg, Any any
- 36:04Speaker 3: thoughts from you on that.
- 36:05Speaker 16: I haven't paid attention to that debate as much. I mean,
- 36:08Speaker 16: I do know. I think a lot of this is
- 36:11Speaker 16: probably a reaction to and look, I think I think
- 36:17Speaker 16: a lot of what's going on in this legislature is
- 36:19Speaker 16: a reaction to what's going on sort of nationally, right.
- 36:21Speaker 16: I mean, you had, you know, the National Democrats to
- 36:25Speaker 16: push this thing so far to the left on on
- 36:29Speaker 16: social issues, on the growth of government, on you know,
- 36:34Speaker 16: just the tax and spend liberals. I mean that you know,
- 36:37Speaker 16: all this money that the Department, you know, it created
- 36:40Speaker 16: this need right for you know, Elon Musk now working
- 36:43Speaker 16: with Trump coming in and doing this Department of Government efficiency.
- 36:47Speaker 16: You know, So I don't know how it translates to
- 36:50Speaker 16: the local stuff. What I would say to this caller
- 36:53Speaker 16: is just, you know, I think a lot of this
- 36:55Speaker 16: is a reaction to, you know, people sitting around listening
- 36:59Speaker 16: to talk rate, watching cable news and saying, oh my gosh,
- 37:02Speaker 16: look how terrible everything is at the federal level. And
- 37:05Speaker 16: I look, and I share a lot of those frustrations
- 37:08Speaker 16: and concerns, and I think what you've got is, you know,
- 37:11Speaker 16: those people that you've got a lot of new legislators,
- 37:14Speaker 16: that that's their that's their perspective, right, I mean, that's
- 37:17Speaker 16: where they've gotten a lot of their information is kind
- 37:19Speaker 16: of you know, through this, you know, kind of conservative
- 37:22Speaker 16: national media. And then they come to Charleston and it's like,
- 37:25Speaker 16: all right, how do I fix this?
- 37:26Speaker 4: What do I do?
- 37:28Speaker 16: I think there's going to be some good ideas. I
- 37:29Speaker 16: think there'll be some bad ideas, But I think as
- 37:33Speaker 16: you as you and look, and I'm somebody that works
- 37:35Speaker 16: in this for a living, right, so I look at
- 37:36Speaker 16: it and say, oh my gosh, how do I go
- 37:39Speaker 16: and educate people that don't know a lot about these
- 37:43Speaker 16: state issues? They're they're they're they're focused on the national ones.
- 37:47Speaker 16: How do I educate them on the state issues so
- 37:49Speaker 16: they're making the best decisions? And so, look, to be
- 37:52Speaker 16: honest with you, I like the fact that we're having
- 37:55Speaker 16: the debate right like, you know, we've been running you know,
- 37:58Speaker 16: the the Democrats had control of this government in West
- 38:01Speaker 16: Virginia for eighty something years.
- 38:03Speaker 4: Eighty you know, so eighty something years.
- 38:07Speaker 16: You know, Justice ran as a Democrat the first time
- 38:10Speaker 16: in one and then switch parties midway through that. You know,
- 38:14Speaker 16: I look and I'm a supporter of Gym Justice. I
- 38:17Speaker 16: think he's done a very good job since he's been
- 38:19Speaker 16: in DC. But Justice had like a handful of you know,
- 38:24Speaker 16: there were certain government agencies he really liked, right, I mean,
- 38:27Speaker 16: he was really in economic development. He was really into tourism, energy,
- 38:30Speaker 16: things like that. But there's a lot of stuff he
- 38:33Speaker 16: didn't really pay that much attention to. I think bills
- 38:36Speaker 16: like this are to address that, Like, Okay, they were
- 38:40Speaker 16: in charge for a long time. We're here, now, how
- 38:42Speaker 16: do we best run this? And I think that's where
- 38:45Speaker 16: bills like this were, you know, the concept of those
- 38:48Speaker 16: have been originated.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Fourteen away from ten.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Vaccines are your best protection again severe disease from fluid
- 38:53Speaker 3: COVID nineteen if you're sixty five or older, risk less?
- 38:55Speaker 3: Do more with his season's vaccines get started. Vaccines dot
- 38:58Speaker 3: gov paid for about the US Department of Health and
- 39:00Speaker 3: Human Services. Right, I think we have a call for Greg.
- 39:02Speaker 3: Let's go to the phones. Good morning, you're on with
- 39:04Speaker 3: Greg Thomas.
- 39:07Speaker 8: Hey, uh hey, yeah, this is built from dunbar. Yes, sir,
- 39:12Speaker 8: do a great job. Thank n I want to talk
- 39:14Speaker 8: to your guy here who purports to be a grassroots
- 39:19Speaker 8: campaign uh and launches you know, represents the people. But
- 39:23Speaker 8: isn't the Citizens Against Lawsuit of Us really a front
- 39:27Speaker 8: group for Republicans in the big pharma and the National
- 39:33Speaker 8: Chamber Commerce? And actually aren't you funded by the National
- 39:36Speaker 8: Chamber of Commerce?
- 39:38Speaker 16: Yeah, So the West Virginia Citizens Against Lawsuit of Use
- 39:40Speaker 16: is a grassroots organization. You know, in West Virginia, we've
- 39:44Speaker 16: got over twenty thousand members. Uh, you know, taxpayers, small
- 39:48Speaker 16: business owners, consumers. You know that highlights the problems within
- 39:53Speaker 16: our legal system here in West Virginia. Obviously, you know,
- 39:56Speaker 16: we are associated with the national organization called the American
- 39:59Speaker 16: Tort Reform a Ciation. You know that they have that
- 40:03Speaker 16: There are major employers, healthcare providers, a lot of different
- 40:08Speaker 16: people that support that organization.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Uh.
- 40:11Speaker 16: You know, as you know, and I know you're associated
- 40:13Speaker 16: with personal injury lawyers here in the state. And so
- 40:17Speaker 16: you know, we had a huge problem where the personal
- 40:19Speaker 16: injury lawyers ran our state. You know, labor Union's personal
- 40:22Speaker 16: injury lawyers ran the state for decades. You know, widely
- 40:26Speaker 16: known that we have the lowest workforce participation rate in
- 40:29Speaker 16: the country, you know, very low education attainment, all those
- 40:33Speaker 16: different things, because we just had the worst business climate
- 40:36Speaker 16: in the country for decades. So over the past decade,
- 40:40Speaker 16: you know, we've got we've you know, over the past
- 40:42Speaker 16: couple of decades, we've supported legal reform in the state.
- 40:45Speaker 16: You know, we we helped to fix the state Supreme Court,
- 40:48Speaker 16: creation of the Intermedia Pellate Court. We've passed dozens of
- 40:52Speaker 16: legal reform bills over the last decade. Our economy has
- 40:55Speaker 16: gotten better, right, the economy got better. We've gotten you know,
- 40:58Speaker 16: we've gotten more jobs. We the economy for every single
- 41:03Speaker 16: person living in the state.
- 41:04Speaker 4: Other than I don't listen.
- 41:06Speaker 8: I don't think that's accurate. If I could finish my off.
- 41:10Speaker 4: What personal injury law firm do you work at? Which
- 41:12Speaker 4: person injury law firm do you work at?
- 41:14Speaker 8: Really are against the people and the working people who
- 41:17Speaker 8: try to you know, when they're injured, they need to
- 41:20Speaker 8: make claims to recover from their injury. And you oppose
- 41:23Speaker 8: all that.
- 41:23Speaker 16: Name one person for me that hasn't been able to
- 41:26Speaker 16: file a lawsuit. You guys, come in here, you guys right,
- 41:30Speaker 16: you know you probably drive you drive a BMW or
- 41:33Speaker 16: a Mercedes or a Porsche.
- 41:34Speaker 4: Which one do you drive me one?
- 41:37Speaker 8: I'm either I'll tell you that I'm a working man
- 41:41Speaker 8: and I'm just getting by paycheck to paycheck, and I
- 41:44Speaker 8: know what you're afraud.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Okay, all right now, Bill, Bill, we appreciate your phone call.
- 41:49Speaker 3: I appreciate It's.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Uh, that's funny. I mean that.
- 41:56Speaker 16: Look, everybody knows, we all know what the personal injury
- 41:59Speaker 16: lawyers have done to the state. We've tried to fix
- 42:01Speaker 16: this stuff. And now that these guys have you know,
- 42:05Speaker 16: and look, these guys now are out here supporting Republicans.
- 42:08Speaker 16: These guys are out here now given to all the
- 42:09Speaker 16: Republican candidates. So this whole support the little guy. All
- 42:13Speaker 16: that stuff. You guys don't care about that. You care
- 42:16Speaker 16: about getting paid, You care about making money. You care
- 42:18Speaker 16: about you know, the personal injury lawsuit. Greed is what
- 42:21Speaker 16: drives it. You know, we pushed back, we got in control.
- 42:25Speaker 16: You know, we started to get things back on track,
- 42:27Speaker 16: had the largest tax cut in state history. You know,
- 42:30Speaker 16: grow in the economy. And you know, these guys they
- 42:33Speaker 16: weren't making enough money, right, Two houses wasn't enough.
- 42:36Speaker 4: They need three.
- 42:37Speaker 16: And they're back at it and they're giving money to
- 42:40Speaker 16: Republicans in the legislature.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Talking to Greg Thomas. A couple of texts are actually
- 42:43Speaker 3: a few texts going back to Tesla. These Tesla haters
- 42:46Speaker 3: need to leave people's teslas alone and let the cars
- 42:49Speaker 3: fall apart on their own. They're cheaply made, overpriced hype cars.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Let nature tickets. Course, that's a texture Texas Great Morrisy,
- 42:56Speaker 3: Manchin and Jimbo. So we're gonna get talked at. Greg
- 42:59Speaker 3: may say some guided things, but at least he talks
- 43:01Speaker 3: to us. Well, I mean, Morrisy is the governor, and
- 43:05Speaker 3: so he's going to have time Mansion, former US senator,
- 43:10Speaker 3: former governor, secretary of state, legislator. He's got stuff to say. Jimbo,
- 43:13Speaker 3: US Senator, Senator Justice, I should say I was just using.
- 43:16Speaker 16: They Maybe they'll take some texts don't count.
- 43:23Speaker 3: Texas. West Virginia has led the way against Tesla for years,
- 43:25Speaker 3: which operates under a direct to consumer model, meaning they
- 43:28Speaker 3: do not have traditional dealerships or service centers in West Virginia.
- 43:31Speaker 3: In fact, West Virginia legislators long banned Tesla's from having
- 43:35Speaker 3: direct sales and service centers in West Virginia. Can still
- 43:37Speaker 3: buy them online, had them delivered, But West Virginia figured
- 43:40Speaker 3: this scam out years ago, says a Texter Texas Day.
- 43:45Speaker 3: When you speak to Mansion, please ask him his thoughts
- 43:49Speaker 3: on his former party members, despicable behaviors at Trump's speech,
- 43:51Speaker 3: defending a Hamas supporter, and angry that illegals are finally

- 48:07Speaker 16: EARLIER i, MEAN i do think there's a lot of
- 48:09Speaker 16: these legislators have, this you, know need to address the
- 48:13Speaker 16: social issues because of how far The National democrats kind
- 48:16Speaker 16: of lurched to the left and kind of what we
- 48:20Speaker 16: were told over the last few, weeks right was, like,
- 48:22Speaker 16: hey we have this like pet you, know you guys
- 48:24Speaker 16: have been so focused on the economy over the last ten,
- 48:27Speaker 16: years including legal. Reform our last caller so focused on
- 48:31Speaker 16: legal reform over the last ten, years and taxes and business.
- 48:35Speaker 16: Stuff you, know we've got some pent up social conservative
- 48:38Speaker 16: bills we want to, run and that's what they were
- 48:40Speaker 16: doing in the first few. Weeks and then we were
- 48:42Speaker 16: told it was, like, well you, know now we're gonna you,
- 48:44Speaker 16: know the first month is social conservative bills and then
- 48:47Speaker 16: we'll get to everything. Else so we actually had some
- 48:50Speaker 16: pro jobs bills brought. Up we had a couple of
- 48:51Speaker 16: legal reforms brought up in The State Senate Judiciary, committee
- 48:54Speaker 16: and they were. Defeated you, know the personal injury lawyers
- 48:58Speaker 16: have given hundreds of thousands of To republican candidates around.
- 49:01Speaker 4: The, state which is a. Switch which is a?
- 49:04Speaker 16: Switch is the first time that that's you, know the
- 49:06Speaker 16: kind of the first time that that's really. Happened you,
- 49:10Speaker 16: Know Patricia rucker took twenty five thousand dollars from personal
- 49:13Speaker 16: injury lawyers earned the last. Campaign she sort of led the.
- 49:16Speaker 16: Charge you, know she kind of de facto runs The
- 49:19Speaker 16: State senate and she you, know grabbed a handful of
- 49:22Speaker 16: people that followed her off the cliff on that. Stuff
- 49:24Speaker 16: they voted against two very pro jobs, bills and we're
- 49:28Speaker 16: pretty disappointed with. THAT i, MEAN i, think you, know
- 49:31Speaker 16: we're we're hoping to see more pro job. Stuff you,
- 49:33Speaker 16: Know morrisey's got a couple of pro jobs bills that
- 49:35Speaker 16: are pretty. Good he's got one on, permitting one on.
- 49:38Speaker 16: Licensure you, know they came out and they've got this
- 49:41Speaker 16: micro grid bill that they're dealing with that would bring
- 49:43Speaker 16: in a data, center WHICH i Which i'm really hopeful
- 49:46Speaker 16: that they'll.
- 49:46Speaker 4: Do but there's other stuff.
- 49:48Speaker 16: Too that you, know they haven't done anything ON, brim
- 49:50Speaker 16: they haven't made any adjustments on PI, A Border Risk insurance.
- 49:54Speaker 16: Management there's you, know there's a lot of problems with
- 49:56Speaker 16: that and and, uh you, know we we need some
- 49:59Speaker 16: major changes, there uh to keep that program kind of
- 50:02Speaker 16: solve it and working, properly.
- 50:05Speaker 7: You.
- 50:05Speaker 16: Know and so, LOOK i think the you, know they
- 50:07Speaker 16: did the, vaccine they've done they've been working on the.
- 50:10Speaker 16: Vaccines they did the boys and girls sports. Thing you,
- 50:13Speaker 16: know there's been some of that stuff come. Through uh you,
- 50:15Speaker 16: KNOW i Know Chairman Mike stewart And Senate judiciaries you,
- 50:18Speaker 16: know been big on the child welfare stuff and bringing that.
- 50:20Speaker 16: Up so there's some other stuff that get there, Though, GREG, I,
- 50:24Speaker 16: well and that's that's sort of WHAT i was getting to,
- 50:26Speaker 16: there right is is the times now for tech?
- 50:29Speaker 4: Time the time is.
- 50:31Speaker 16: NOW i, mean they really need to make a move
- 50:33Speaker 16: on some of these sort of bigger. ISSUES i don't
- 50:36Speaker 16: really see any big home runs coming. Through but, look
- 50:39Speaker 16: these guys could put a series of doubles together and
- 50:42Speaker 16: still come out of this and say it was a
- 50:44Speaker 16: pretty good. Session but they need to they need to
- 50:47Speaker 16: double down on that to get there BECAUSE i think
- 50:49Speaker 16: as of right, now you, know this has not been
- 50:51Speaker 16: a great. SESSION i still think they could make it
- 50:54Speaker 16: a good, one but they're in danger of it not
- 50:56Speaker 16: being good at.
- 50:57Speaker 3: All really, quick and Then i'm going to go to
- 50:59Speaker 3: will And meadows at The. Capitol did you see my,

- 51:09Speaker 3: one that's done. That give me twenty. Seconds then we'll
- 51:10Speaker 3: go to.
- 51:11Speaker 16: That, LOOK i THINK i Think morrisey's gonna have to
- 51:13Speaker 16: spend some time after this, session you, know really getting
- 51:17Speaker 16: around and reconnecting with. LEGISLATORS i, MEAN i think he
- 51:20Speaker 16: did a good job of that on the. Campaign he's you,
- 51:23Speaker 16: KNOW i think that's something that he needs to. Do and,
- 51:26Speaker 16: look the legislature is gonna need to work with him.
