- 1:22Speaker 3: Too bad, but what don't you expected to.
- 1:25Speaker 4: A podcast called twenty five whist.
- 1:30Speaker 5: All right, blow up?
- 1:32Speaker 1: We don't all wear whistles anymore.
- 1:34Speaker 5: No theme song says that sometimes I don't forget mine.
- 1:38Speaker 1: We had a we had it in post from the
- 1:41Speaker 1: New York Post the age our bodies reach a tipping
- 1:43Speaker 1: point and they stop being able to bounce back easily.
- 1:46Speaker 1: M what do you think that age is?
- 1:48Speaker 6: Eddie forty? Kevin Wow, thirty two?
- 1:57Speaker 1: How old are you?
- 1:58Speaker 6: Thirty four?
- 1:59Speaker 1: Are you feeling it yourself?
- 2:00Speaker 7: Really?
- 2:00Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:02Speaker 1: Yeah? New researchers found the point of no return when
- 2:05Speaker 1: we no longer recover as well from injury is seventy five.
- 2:10Speaker 5: What so we should be like recovery. We should be good.
- 2:13Speaker 1: My boot should be off. I should be running marathons.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Yeah, dude, I cut my finger and Thanksgiving it's still
- 2:17Speaker 5: not good.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Researchers measured the health of nearly thirteen thousand people with
- 2:21Speaker 1: an average age of sixty seven, based on thirty attributes
- 2:24Speaker 1: chronic diseases, cardiovascular conditions, how they performed in activities. They
- 2:27Speaker 1: use a frailty index. Researchers discovered the tipping point for
- 2:30Speaker 1: men and women round seventy. Like, we should be able
- 2:33Speaker 1: to bounce back. Then if we do it right, what
- 2:35Speaker 1: happens is we get hurt, and we're older and we
- 2:36Speaker 1: have other obligations and we're not able to focus on it.
- 2:38Speaker 6: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 2:40Speaker 1: But also I don't heal as fast as I used to.
- 2:43Speaker 1: No chance, so I do. I guess I can bounce back,
- 2:46Speaker 1: It's just slower. Maybe it's seventy five. You just don't
- 2:49Speaker 1: bounce back. Like once it happens is permanent.
- 2:51Speaker 6: Hey, you just sit there with it.
- 2:52Speaker 1: It's permanent marker on a shirt. It's blood on a shirt.
- 2:55Speaker 1: So I saw that. I would have guessed much younger too.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Dude. My father in law he is probably eighty something,
- 3:03Speaker 5: you know, like late seventies, early eighties, and he's like,
- 3:06Speaker 5: he's got a trainer, and he sent me a video
- 3:08Speaker 5: of him doing dead lifts. One hundred and eighty really,
- 3:12Speaker 5: you know, almost two hundred deadlifts. I'm like, dude, old man,
- 3:15Speaker 5: you're gonna hurt yourself.
- 3:16Speaker 1: That's your father in law. Yeah, so Caitlin's grandfather, which
- 3:19Speaker 1: I guess would be my grandfather in law. Yes, yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 1: he's in his eighties.
- 3:25Speaker 5: He deadlifts.
- 3:26Speaker 1: He works in the farm. Still. Yeah, that's like he
- 3:29Speaker 1: just birthday calf a cow and he was talking about
- 3:32Speaker 1: how it wouldn't it was coming out the wrong way,
- 3:33Speaker 1: so we had to chain it to its feet. Like
- 3:34Speaker 1: he still gets on a four wheeler, does that.
- 3:36Speaker 5: There are just some people that like want to be
- 3:38Speaker 5: physical their whole life, like my parents, like my mom,
- 3:41Speaker 5: and yeah, she's got bad legs and like a bad
- 3:43Speaker 5: hip and everything, but she can barely walk and she's
- 3:46Speaker 5: like seventy nine, seventy eight.
- 3:47Speaker 1: He was driving a school bus until last year in
- 3:49Speaker 1: his eighties. And I think genetics has a lot to
- 3:52Speaker 1: do with it, for sure, genetics and choices. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:55Speaker 1: but yeah, seventy five. I guess it doesn't go back.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I was in therapy yesterday from my ankle.
- 4:00Speaker 5: How's that going?
- 4:01Speaker 1: I don't know. I think I'm passing with flying colors
- 4:04Speaker 1: because I'm doing all my work, but man, it hurts.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Like you look, I was looking. I look forward to it.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Then when I get there, I realized I shouldn't look
- 4:10Speaker 1: forward to it because it sucks the whole time.
- 4:11Speaker 5: It's like working out.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Its physical. Like I was on a box doing all
- 4:14Speaker 1: these lifts and it hurts because my ankle obviously is
- 4:16Speaker 1: not in the condition that it was. I'm doing you know,
- 4:19Speaker 1: have a machine where you lift your use your quads,
- 4:22Speaker 1: you lift up frontward. Yeah, yeah, and then you're so
- 4:25Speaker 1: they have me doing that because I've done no legwork
- 4:26Speaker 1: in a month and a half and they're like, do
- 4:28Speaker 1: three sets at eight and they'd put the weight on them.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Like this sucks, I'm weak. So did physical therapy, Yes.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Well, like it's I mean, you're trending upward. Your foot
- 4:37Speaker 5: still hurt. Like the other day you were like, it
- 4:38Speaker 5: hurts so bad.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Part of the reason it hurts so bad is well,
- 4:41Speaker 1: it's not all the way back. But I'm wearing this
- 4:43Speaker 1: boot that's very heavy and it hangs if I'm sitting
- 4:45Speaker 1: in a chair. It's all the blood's rushing to it.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So yeah, so numb. Yeah, Like I have it on
- 4:50Speaker 1: a stool right now. Oh okay, yeah, but I should
- 4:52Speaker 1: hopefully because I I put my surgeon tomorrow. They're like, hey,
- 4:55Speaker 1: you cannot wear the boot now you have to wear
- 4:56Speaker 1: a brace, which is different. But I can wear normal shoes.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I don't know where my li left shoes are to
- 5:00Speaker 1: like three pair of shoes right now, because I've only
- 5:02Speaker 1: been wearing the right shoes.
- 5:03Speaker 5: I totally to put a shoe on the.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Booth for like five weeks or so. It's only been
- 5:07Speaker 1: one shoe. So, Okay, we have a couple of good
- 5:10Speaker 1: guests coming up, but let's talk first. Let's have a
- 5:14Speaker 1: bunch of stuff. Hey, you may in fact check this
- 5:16Speaker 1: Kevin BYU's coach has to be Mormon. No, I think
- 5:21Speaker 1: that's true. Really, So we met him. Penn State tried
- 5:25Speaker 1: to hire BYU's coach, and he was going to go
- 5:29Speaker 1: to Penn State. And then the crumble Cookie guy comes
- 5:32Speaker 1: out and is like, I'm in. I'm gonna save him.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Crumble Cookie guy, big probo guy. They sign Stocky to
- 5:40Speaker 1: a new deal at BYU. It doesn't say that.
- 5:43Speaker 6: No, I'm seeing a couple of things to say, No,
- 5:45Speaker 6: you don't have to.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Okay, Then I heard and read wrong. Is he but
- 5:49Speaker 1: is he is he Mormon?
- 5:50Speaker 3: Good question?
- 5:51Speaker 5: He did kind of he stopped drinking beer.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And he did have to go and like speak to
- 5:55Speaker 1: the he went there, didn't he the head.
- 5:56Speaker 5: Of the church. But again, I don't think you have
- 5:58Speaker 5: to be Mormon to go there.
- 6:00Speaker 1: No, not to go there.
- 6:01Speaker 6: You don't he is Mormon.
- 6:03Speaker 1: So maybe it's just like recommended.
- 6:06Speaker 5: I wonder, I wonder if you can take that job
- 6:08Speaker 5: and tell.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Me Mormon you convert, like you when you marry somebody. Yeah, man,
- 6:13Speaker 1: because there are people I know that have converted because
- 6:16Speaker 1: the person they're marrying is a different religion.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Yeah, my wife converted to Catholicism.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Really yeah, but she didn't really have to do it.
- 6:23Speaker 5: She did classes and everything.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I know. But that's just going through the process to
- 6:26Speaker 1: prove you get the job, which is your wife like,
- 6:28Speaker 1: can't you just prove? Like you go and you study
- 6:30Speaker 1: the LDS. That's what that is, right, Mormon, and all
- 6:33Speaker 1: of a sudden you are like, yeah, I'm in, and
- 6:36Speaker 1: they're like, okay, you're the coach, and then you don't
- 6:37Speaker 1: go anymore. You just go through the process. So but
- 6:42Speaker 1: it's not you don't have to be No. But but
- 6:46Speaker 1: how many of the last coaches have been Like how
- 6:48Speaker 1: important is that to them? Historically, says a majority have been.
- 6:52Speaker 1: It has to it's just not an official policy.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Unspoken Yeah, policy.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it sounds like it's probably a policy, but just
- 6:59Speaker 1: one they can't put it.
- 7:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:01Speaker 6: It's like they'll interview somebody does not Mormon, just say
- 7:03Speaker 6: oh we tried.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Oh good. Point like, does that turned into like a
- 7:06Speaker 5: discrimination thing?
- 7:07Speaker 1: Like it's Rooney rule in the NFL they have to
- 7:10Speaker 1: interview a certain number of minority coaches. Yeah, and that
- 7:14Speaker 1: they have to interview a certain number of non Mormon coaches.
- 7:17Speaker 5: To prove one Christian all the denominations.
- 7:22Speaker 1: He almost depends date. Yeah, that was a surprise. Man,
- 7:25Speaker 1: they are, but they just kept falling. I mean it
- 7:27Speaker 1: was a surprise because nobody else that they wanted wanted
- 7:31Speaker 1: the job. They that job opened up so long ago
- 7:34Speaker 1: before any of the other jobs open. They fired James
- 7:35Speaker 1: Franklin thinking we're gonna have our pick of the litter. Yeah,
- 7:37Speaker 1: it's crazy, and there's no litter. I was reading the
- 7:42Speaker 1: grades from this sec unfiltered on Twitter and they graded
- 7:49Speaker 1: Lane Kiffen an a plus. Now he does have to
- 7:51Speaker 1: go and win a national championship. This is the first
- 7:53Speaker 1: coach I've ever seen that has to go somewhere and
- 7:55Speaker 1: win a national championship or it is not a successful higher.
- 7:58Speaker 5: What's the grade on the grade on the higher or
- 8:00Speaker 5: the great on the coach?
- 8:01Speaker 1: The higher?
- 8:02Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 8:03Speaker 3: That both. That's yeah.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I think that's why you get the grade.
- 8:07Speaker 5: I don't mean like a coach, like you give Lane
- 8:09Speaker 5: Kiffen an A plus because just for being a coach,
- 8:12Speaker 5: like he's an A plus coach.
- 8:14Speaker 1: L s U they gave the A plus because they
- 8:15Speaker 1: hired Lanky.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Okay, it's the higher then Florida.
- 8:18Speaker 1: They gave an A for John summerl which there are
- 8:21Speaker 1: some coaches and we've had Summer on the show before.
- 8:23Speaker 1: There are some coaches that shouldn't do some of the
- 8:26Speaker 1: quirky social media stuff. And I was watching a thing
- 8:28Speaker 1: where I think it was maybe to caw Spikes who
- 8:31Speaker 1: played to Florida, and he's picked up the phone. He's
- 8:34Speaker 1: like coach and it's like coach walking out of sidey.
- 8:36Speaker 1: He picks up the phone. He's like it's Sugning Day
- 8:39Speaker 1: and like that's not Sumerll's thing. It's a weird video,
- 8:42Speaker 1: Reallyrand Yeah, thank you, thank you because he just goes
- 8:46Speaker 1: it's spikes. I don't know which one of us is.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Like a bad actor.
- 8:49Speaker 1: It just is a little too corny for his personality
- 8:52Speaker 1: because he's not a corny personality.
- 8:53Speaker 5: Yeah, Like he doesn't seem like a playful guy like Save,
- 8:56Speaker 5: like Saving doing corny video.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it would be Saving or Belichick doing corny. He
- 9:00Speaker 1: doesn't work.
- 9:00Speaker 6: Blane Kiffen could do cordy.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Ye oh, that's all he does.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:03Speaker 1: They gave summer On a at Florida. They gave Golish
- 9:06Speaker 1: a B plus at Auburn. They gave will Stein a
- 9:09Speaker 1: B plus at Kentucky. I thought for Kentucky that was
- 9:12Speaker 1: a really great hire. Yeah, he's a Kentucky guy and
- 9:17Speaker 1: his offensive cordator Oregon young guy. I think he's in
- 9:19Speaker 1: his thirties. Pete Golding C minus, who's now the new
- 9:23Speaker 1: Ole Miss head coach. That was an interesting thing. We
- 9:25Speaker 1: talked about it where it was like, hey, interim coach,
- 9:27Speaker 1: and the hour later it was like, no interim, he's
- 9:29Speaker 1: now the head coach.
- 9:30Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, we talked. Yeah, we talked about it last time.
- 9:32Speaker 6: I just wonder if it's like a desperation thing or not.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I think it's probably a bit of they had that
- 9:38Speaker 1: planned in case Lane left. They just didn't know if
- 9:41Speaker 1: Lane was gonna leave, and they didn't want him to leave.
- 9:45Speaker 1: So it's a bit of both. Like who else you
- 9:46Speaker 1: gonna go get? Like Penn State's trying to find a coach,
- 9:48Speaker 1: I think you're gonna get a coach probably bigger than
- 9:50Speaker 1: Penn State. I think you like what the best option
- 9:53Speaker 1: available is. I think Penn State's gonna happen to hire
- 9:55Speaker 1: their interim coach.
- 9:57Speaker 6: Yeah, And at this point, it's like, hey, we're happy
- 9:59Speaker 6: to have you if you're because he was a coordinator
- 10:03Speaker 6: their interim code. Yeah, it's under Franklin, and I think
- 10:07Speaker 6: he's probably hoping that nobody takes the job because he
- 10:11Speaker 6: wants that job. The players were advocating for him their
- 10:13Speaker 6: last game before the season was over.
- 10:15Speaker 5: The football coaches ever take their their crew with them,
- 10:18Speaker 5: like their.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Ocst Lane took a lot. But I did see the
- 10:21Speaker 1: Office of Coordinators going back to coach Ole mess for
- 10:24Speaker 1: the playoffs.
- 10:25Speaker 6: Oh yeah, that's good.
- 10:27Speaker 5: That helps them eats something. Man, that's crazy.
- 10:31Speaker 1: They do a lot. I mean most do. Most of
- 10:33Speaker 1: the ones that they like they take with them. There
- 10:35Speaker 1: was the story of Lane given the ultimatum, if you
- 10:37Speaker 1: don't get on the plane, you're not gonna come to
- 10:39Speaker 1: l s U with me. Turns out it wasn't right then,
- 10:41Speaker 1: it was like two days later. They all came over.
- 10:43Speaker 5: That would make the movie though, right, the dramatic.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Get on the play. Well, that's that is the movie.
- 10:46Speaker 1: And Jerrem McGuire, Jeremy maguire, who's with me?
- 10:49Speaker 6: The Goldfish.
- 10:51Speaker 1: They gave Ryan silver Silverfield the Arkansas a D minus.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Dang, I know that's like that's my college grades. Yeah,
- 10:59Speaker 5: high school for sure.
- 11:00Speaker 6: High school.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I got a text from Jared Allen he's played from
- 11:04Speaker 1: the Vikings. Oh yeah, yeah, yesterday, and so he said, hey,
- 11:10Speaker 1: if you want me to connect you with the new
- 11:11Speaker 1: razorback coach. He's a good friend of mine and an
- 11:13Speaker 1: old coach of mine. So I guess they're friends. And
- 11:16Speaker 1: then he coached in the NFL a bit with Minnesota.
- 11:19Speaker 6: Oh really, well that's cool connection.
- 11:21Speaker 5: Does Jared Allen text you a bunch? So are you
- 11:25Speaker 5: watching this game?
- 11:26Speaker 8: Bro?
- 11:26Speaker 1: No, we don't text like that. We do live close
- 11:29Speaker 1: to each other. Yeah, and him and Matt Castle are
- 11:31Speaker 1: good friends. And so Jared came over, did our podcast,
- 11:37Speaker 1: and then when we went to the Super Bowl, he
- 11:40Speaker 1: was being maybe in Doug, isn't.
- 11:43Speaker 5: It it was Hall of Fame.
- 11:44Speaker 6: He's a fine, he's getting inducted this next year.
- 11:47Speaker 5: No, it was the announcement of his induction.
- 11:49Speaker 1: He's been inducted or or making the Hall of Fame.
- 11:51Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, So.
- 11:52Speaker 1: But he was there at that So I spent some
- 11:54Speaker 1: time with him there too, and we just lived close.
- 11:57Speaker 1: And so now it's like, yeah, that's cool man. Yeah.
- 12:00Speaker 1: So Castle knew that Jared knew the coach, and so
- 12:03Speaker 1: Castle was like, hey, hit Bobby. So Jared texting was like, oh,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I didn't know whatever. I thought, that's pretty cool. Yeah,
- 12:08Speaker 1: I'm not I've not talked to the we I texted
- 12:11Speaker 1: the new Arkansas coach.
- 12:12Speaker 5: Oh you did already.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Well, I have a friend that connected us on a text.
- 12:16Speaker 1: But I know this guy's underwater right now. Your first
- 12:19Speaker 1: two days it's all PRU going on. There's no free time.
- 12:22Speaker 1: He was in the basketball game last night, which we
- 12:23Speaker 1: did beat Louisville.
- 12:24Speaker 5: Yeah that was awesome, big one for us.
- 12:26Speaker 3: We needed.
- 12:27Speaker 1: So but he's doing Like signing day was Wednesday yesterday,
- 12:32Speaker 1: so like he had to hit the ground running. Penn
- 12:34Speaker 1: State got two recruits. I saw their fifty because they
- 12:38Speaker 1: only had two people signed.
- 12:38Speaker 6: That's crazy.
- 12:39Speaker 1: The big ones on with James Franklinder decommitted and they
- 12:41Speaker 1: don't have a coach, So who are you signing to?
- 12:43Speaker 5: And Franklin's with Virginia Tech.
- 12:44Speaker 6: Yeah yeah someonent there with him.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Yeah yeah I did. Yeah, So yeah, there's that. I'm
- 12:52Speaker 1: talking about the games coming up. It's an interesting weekend,
- 12:56Speaker 1: mildly like. I think number one is the Ohio State
- 12:59Speaker 1: Indiana game. To me, just what I want to see
- 13:01Speaker 1: because I just want to see if Indiana plays close,
- 13:03Speaker 1: and who knows, they may win. But I don't feel
- 13:07Speaker 1: like Indiana is on fraud alert because they did beat
- 13:11Speaker 1: Oregon at Oregon, but it's been a while.
- 13:13Speaker 6: Yeah, and Ohio State is that good?
- 13:16Speaker 1: Oh, I say it's so good.
- 13:17Speaker 6: They're playing Georgia. Alabama might be like, yeah, I like
- 13:19Speaker 6: the chances, but because it's Ohio State, I'm like.
- 13:22Speaker 1: I don't see it happening, and they get surprised us
- 13:23Speaker 1: all yeah, but I'm anxious to see they did beat Oregon.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Indiana's never won a national championship.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Indiana's never won a conference cham big Ten Championship.
- 13:31Speaker 5: It's crazy.
- 13:32Speaker 1: This might be their first time playing in the Big
- 13:34Speaker 1: Ten Championship game, but I do know they've never won
- 13:37Speaker 1: a Big Ten championship. They're basketball school man. They used
- 13:40Speaker 1: to play football with a basketball till recently.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Yeah, back in the day.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Yeah, they would ask you at a time, do you
- 13:45Speaker 1: guys care if we use the basketball for this?
- 13:46Speaker 5: They started dribbling the football.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Sc championship game. Don't only care that much. They're both
- 13:51Speaker 1: in to the playoff and also a time my teams.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I don't care. The Big twelve Championship GA is interesting
- 13:57Speaker 1: because you wonder if BYU beats Texas Tech, it screws
- 13:59Speaker 1: up the entire college football playoff because that is not
- 14:03Speaker 1: a spot that they have already dedicated to BYU. They've
- 14:07Speaker 1: already dedicated it to Texas Tech. They're gonna get a
- 14:09Speaker 1: by They're gonna be one of the top four teams.
- 14:11Speaker 1: And for them to get that, they're gonna have to
- 14:12Speaker 1: win this conference championship game. And they are a twelve
- 14:15Speaker 1: and a half point favorite.
- 14:16Speaker 6: Yeah, and Tech whooped them earlier in the PST time.
- 14:18Speaker 5: Do you think BYU has a chance?
- 14:20Speaker 1: I don't think they'll win. Has a chance. I mean sure,
- 14:26Speaker 1: but I don't think they'll win. But if they do,
- 14:27Speaker 1: it screws up everybody's, at least the committee's current call.
- 14:33Speaker 6: Do you want to see that as a guy who
- 14:35Speaker 6: loves chaos.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Yes, My short answer is yes, it sucks. Vanderbilt can't
- 14:42Speaker 1: get in. No, Texas should not be ranked on Vanderbilt
- 14:45Speaker 1: just because they have three losses. Don't lose to a
- 14:47Speaker 1: four win Florida team. Like, don't lose to a four
- 14:51Speaker 1: win Florida team. That's the answer to that. It's like
- 14:53Speaker 1: you scheduled Ohio State, Great, you lost that game. That's okay.
- 14:55Speaker 1: You can lose that game. You can lose another game.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Don't lose the freak Florida. Look at Vanderbilt's two losses.
- 15:02Speaker 1: They lost to Alabama and Texas. Yeah, like these other teams,
- 15:06Speaker 1: most of their loss. That Florida loss was terrible. Yeah,
- 15:09Speaker 1: no offense, Mike, I wish that wouldn't have happened. But
- 15:14Speaker 1: Texas shouldn't be in. And Texas shouldn't be ranked over
- 15:16Speaker 1: Vanderbilt even though they beat them head to head, because
- 15:18Speaker 1: they have an extra loss. That head to head needs
- 15:20Speaker 1: to be if you're the same and you've played head
- 15:22Speaker 1: to head, then you are up. Yeah, it shouldn't be
- 15:25Speaker 1: with an extra loss. You lost to Florida.
- 15:28Speaker 6: I mean you swap them as far as their logo
- 15:30Speaker 6: and just team school in general, and you know they're
- 15:34Speaker 6: they're gonna.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Be up there.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Big twelve championship. We're talking about that one. That's about it.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I hope Duke went. Hope Duke beats Virginia. That's the chaos,
- 15:41Speaker 1: sake up. That's the chaos that I want to see.
- 15:43Speaker 1: How about your Cowboys tonight, baby, tonight.
- 15:45Speaker 5: It's a big elimination game, big one in Detroit. Man,
- 15:49Speaker 5: I don't know, there's a lot of I was getting
- 15:51Speaker 5: the auto part the other day for my son's car
- 15:54Speaker 5: and the lady saw my caught my my hat, and
- 15:56Speaker 5: she's like, let's go Cowboys, and I go, man, it's
- 15:59Speaker 5: actually like looking pretty much. She's like, don't say that.
- 16:02Speaker 5: Don't say that. They always let us down. And so
- 16:04Speaker 5: I don't know. I'm going into this week with I
- 16:07Speaker 5: hope you don't let us down.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Here's why, here's why you're annoying. You started the season Cowboys,
- 16:12Speaker 1: don't do it all. Then you gave up on the
- 16:13Speaker 1: Cowboys and said you're no longer rooting for them, correct,
- 16:15Speaker 1: you committed to you don't care anymore. You guys suck.
- 16:18Speaker 1: You're no longer rooting for them this year.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Did you notice I stopped wearing a half a little bit? No, yeah,
- 16:22Speaker 5: I stopped wearing the Cowboys half for a little bit.
- 16:24Speaker 1: And now but now you're so back other people are
- 16:26Speaker 1: having to convince you to calm down.
- 16:28Speaker 5: I know. It's just that's the life of being a
- 16:30Speaker 5: Cowboys fan.
- 16:31Speaker 9: Man.
- 16:32Speaker 5: Like, look at the beginning of the season, did you
- 16:34Speaker 5: really think we had a chance of making the playoffs
- 16:36Speaker 5: in Week six?
- 16:38Speaker 4: No?
- 16:40Speaker 5: Week seven definitely not. Then we just started. I mean
- 16:43Speaker 5: we beat the two Super Bowl teams that I.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Think that tigans Packers is kind of the start of it.
- 16:49Speaker 5: Yeah, but then after that we fell off.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yeah, but that that gave you a little hope. That
- 16:54Speaker 1: Cardinals loss was your big punch of it.
- 16:56Speaker 5: No, dud, it's like, what are we doing? We don't
- 16:58Speaker 5: even want to win?
- 16:59Speaker 1: Like I started think you guys could play because your
- 17:01Speaker 1: offense was so good. When when Ceedee Lamb went out
- 17:04Speaker 1: and picking started to be that dude even though you
- 17:06Speaker 1: weren't winning, then you had two dudes. When Cede got back,
- 17:09Speaker 1: and that's really hard to stop. With dak Clan as
- 17:11Speaker 1: well as he is.
- 17:12Speaker 5: We got two dudes, we got a running game, we
- 17:14Speaker 5: got a defense that we keep stacking on. We got
- 17:17Speaker 5: people that were hurt at the beginning of the season
- 17:18Speaker 5: that are coming back. Now Diggs is going to play tonight.
- 17:21Speaker 5: I mean, it just feels like something good is happening.
- 17:26Speaker 1: But talking yourself into heart ache.
- 17:28Speaker 5: What's crazy, though, is after you know, Nilan committed suicide,
- 17:32Speaker 5: that kind of people are talking about that really brought
- 17:34Speaker 5: the team together to play for Nielan. You know, I
- 17:38Speaker 5: don't know how much that plays a role in it,
- 17:40Speaker 5: but it seems like this team's got more than talent.
- 17:43Speaker 5: They've got fight in their heart to win this. For Kneeling,
- 17:46Speaker 5: that's just what people say.
- 17:47Speaker 1: It's not about him. I'm not taking the death part
- 17:49Speaker 1: of it when you win. What people say. It's like
- 17:51Speaker 1: the most annoying thing when when teams are getting ready
- 17:54Speaker 1: to start their season and our fans are the same
- 17:56Speaker 1: and they're like, all we need is like this guy
- 17:58Speaker 1: to step up, Well, what do you meet step up?
- 18:01Speaker 1: That's such a generic thing you say whenever you just
- 18:03Speaker 1: are like, man, if he steps up, if it were
- 18:06Speaker 1: up to him, he'd probably stepping up.
- 18:07Speaker 6: They's men up.
- 18:08Speaker 1: But sometimes you're just not big enough, strong enough, you
- 18:11Speaker 1: don't have the skill set, you're not fast enough. There's
- 18:13Speaker 1: no such thing as man, if we just get this
- 18:14Speaker 1: guy to step up, what does that mean? Step up?
- 18:16Speaker 1: It's such a generic thing that people just say because
- 18:18Speaker 1: they don't know what they're talking about. No offense to you.
- 18:21Speaker 5: I didn't say step up.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I know, but you're kind of like the magical mystery
- 18:24Speaker 1: of the Cowboys. But if they lose, does that mean
- 18:26Speaker 1: they didn't care about him and his death.
- 18:28Speaker 5: No, it's not that. It's just that, you know, death
- 18:30Speaker 5: sometimes brings families together. I know my dad died. We
- 18:33Speaker 5: started texting.
- 18:34Speaker 2: That's way I heard someone laugh.
- 18:37Speaker 1: This is way different than your dad dying.
- 18:39Speaker 5: But man, my sister and I texted more, my brother
- 18:42Speaker 5: and I texted more my mom, Like, we just all
- 18:44Speaker 5: got closer. I feel like the Cowboys are getting closer
- 18:47Speaker 5: because they suffered a loss together. They very well on
- 18:50Speaker 5: the fields, they very well could.
- 18:51Speaker 1: My only point is if you're saying that's why they're
- 18:53Speaker 1: coming together, then you have to If they lose, then go, well,
- 18:55Speaker 1: maybe that wasn't what was happening at all.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Well, and that in the injuries and like you know, lam.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Out that's already happened.
- 19:03Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I know. But then and then our defense
- 19:05Speaker 5: was in shambles, dude, until two weeks ago. We can
- 19:08Speaker 5: week and a half ago, like that's when we started
- 19:10Speaker 5: getting players back. Over Sean came back, We got new linebackers,
- 19:13Speaker 5: We traded for Kenny Kenny Clark. Well that's from the beginning.
- 19:16Speaker 5: But Quinn Williams we got, we made, we made changes.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Listen, I hope I wrote for the Cowboys. I bet
- 19:21Speaker 1: a future on them because it was it paid off
- 19:24Speaker 1: so well, if they hit a bet one hundred bucks
- 19:25Speaker 1: twenty six thousand.
- 19:27Speaker 5: That's your bet. Yeah, I did one dollar to win
- 19:29Speaker 5: two hundred.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I would love for them just to make the playoffs
- 19:32Speaker 1: because if they have such a high high Uh.
- 19:35Speaker 7: I hate the term mine c octane nofin. Yeah, it's
- 19:41Speaker 7: stupid high power baby running. And then I say octane offense.
- 19:47Speaker 7: I'm such a loser. Anyway, Cowboys played an igus.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Is uh Saint Brown playing. I haven't seen a decision made,
- 19:54Speaker 5: but let's hope they are trending that he's not playing.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Lines are minus three Yeah. Whatever, that's what.
- 20:01Speaker 5: I've made a lot. I've made so much money on
- 20:03Speaker 5: those dumb lines where Cowboys are underdogs. I'll take it.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Oh the lines, not the Lions with the lines. Yeah,
- 20:10Speaker 1: good line, got it? Uh yeah, do you see anything
- 20:14Speaker 1: about Amon Rossis?
- 20:15Speaker 6: Says questionable still as of right now.
- 20:18Speaker 1: If he can play, he probably plays because they can't
- 20:20Speaker 1: lose this game either, because really, you don't have the
- 20:23Speaker 1: luxury to let him get back to full health. If
- 20:26Speaker 1: he's clear to play and wants to play, you're setting
- 20:31Speaker 1: yourself off other games weekend Seahawks and Falcons, we'll say
- 20:35Speaker 1: I don't care. Bengals and Bills, we do care, because
- 20:39Speaker 1: the Bengals have to keep winning and the Bills need
- 20:41Speaker 1: to win. Like both of those teams that they they're
- 20:45Speaker 1: both looking to win because it hasn't been the greatest
- 20:47Speaker 1: of seasons, at least compared to the expectations that were
- 20:50Speaker 1: set up up on them. And they both have high
- 20:53Speaker 1: octane offenses. God, I'm stupid. The game I think America
- 20:58Speaker 1: is waiting for his Titans and Browns.
- 21:00Speaker 5: Oh, it's a good one.
- 21:01Speaker 1: They should just put that on like a stream. Is that? Yeah? Yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 1: it's in Cleveland. Commanders of Vikings. Nobody cares Dolphins Jets.
- 21:11Speaker 1: That's very similar to the Titans and Rounds, except the
- 21:13Speaker 1: Dolphins are winning a little now, but still nobody cares
- 21:16Speaker 1: Saints and Bucks. Colton Jaggs on that Colts and Jags
- 21:21Speaker 1: a good game. I'm not thinking about us right now, guys.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I'm just talking about the general interest of the people.
- 21:25Speaker 5: I'm always thinking about us.
- 21:26Speaker 1: See, there's a Ravens interesting game just because it's in
- 21:30Speaker 1: the division and a division that nobody's good.
- 21:34Speaker 6: Yeah, up for grabs.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so up for grabs that the Bengals could
- 21:37Speaker 1: keep winning and play themselves back into it. Yeah, Broncos
- 21:40Speaker 1: are Raiders. That should be a runaway. Bears at Packers,
- 21:44Speaker 1: that's interesting.
- 21:44Speaker 6: It's a good one.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It's at Green Bay. Rams at Cardinals, and Texas at
- 21:49Speaker 1: Chief is a really interesting one too. Yeah. Chief, they
- 21:51Speaker 1: both that's close to a playing game for both of them,
- 21:54Speaker 1: or at least a elimination game.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It's like you don't only play your way in, you
- 21:57Speaker 1: just play to keep playing for the playoffs. Chiefs are
- 22:01Speaker 1: in Kansas City at three and a half point favorite.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Monday Night, Eagles at Chargers pretty good, so that's your
- 22:06Speaker 1: your NFL slate there looking at the twenty five Whistles
- 22:11Speaker 1: parlay presented by Draft Kings.
- 22:13Speaker 5: That's all you man, Okay, I feel like I can
- 22:15Speaker 5: nail this one.
- 22:16Speaker 3: I'm out.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I've not bet against Indiana one time. I've bet a
- 22:21Speaker 1: lot of parlays with Indiana covering. I'm going to Ohio
- 22:24Speaker 1: State minus four. Oh yeah, it's really hypocritical to me
- 22:30Speaker 1: because I've been something that's been working for you.
- 22:32Speaker 5: Yeah, you change.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Georgia minus two and a half over Alabama.
- 22:43Speaker 5: O comic con Kevin just looked down. Kevin looked down
- 22:47Speaker 5: like he didn't want to say something.
- 22:48Speaker 6: I'm looking at the link.
- 22:49Speaker 1: What's the over under on Duke Virginia? Hm?
- 22:54Speaker 5: Well, those two teams have high octane What are you
- 22:57Speaker 5: thinking I.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Might go under low octane team? I never bet an
- 23:05Speaker 1: under never it is it makes a game so boring.
- 23:07Speaker 1: It's like I'm betting to be bored.
- 23:09Speaker 5: Yes, and mostly for me, it's because I have to
- 23:11Speaker 5: watch the whole game to see if.
- 23:12Speaker 6: I win fifty seven and a half.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I'm going over Duke in Virginia.
- 23:17Speaker 5: All right, alright, O team, it's the best when you
- 23:21Speaker 5: hit that one like a halftime done already it.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And like I'm just watching the pace to see if
- 23:26Speaker 1: they're like above schedule, Like if it's the average over
- 23:29Speaker 1: under sixty and a half, but they've scored combined like
- 23:31Speaker 1: forty one points in the first half. Yeah, I'm feeling
- 23:33Speaker 1: pretty good.
- 23:34Speaker 5: And then you hope the game's close so they can
- 23:36Speaker 5: keep scoring on each other and raise it up, because
- 23:38Speaker 5: if it's a blowout, are they going to just lay
- 23:39Speaker 5: off the offense going to just sit back?

- 24:38Speaker 1: We're gonna go over now and talk to one of
- 24:39Speaker 1: the most plugged in people in college football, Ross Dellinger.
- 24:42Speaker 1: He's a senior college football reporter at Yahu Sports and
- 24:44Speaker 1: we talk about the podcast that he's on. You can
- 24:46Speaker 1: follow him twitter x at Ross Dellinger. Here he is
- 24:50Speaker 1: Ross Dellinger. Ross really appreciate the time. I want to
- 24:53Speaker 1: start first with something happening here in town where we're
- 24:55Speaker 1: seeing the Vanderbilt head coach Clark League call out, let's
- 24:59Speaker 1: play a game. You don't get to play. Let's just
- 25:00Speaker 1: play a game. Will this ever in the history of
- 25:03Speaker 1: the world happen where a college football coaches yells let's
- 25:05Speaker 1: get a game in.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Uh No, I don't.
- 25:10Speaker 8: I don't think that's the way it works.
- 25:13Speaker 9: You you can't just suddenly yell out on a Tuesday
- 25:16Speaker 9: it's it's like that. It runs by that office episode
- 25:19Speaker 9: with Michael Scott, I declare bankruptcy.
- 25:21Speaker 8: He just yells out.
- 25:23Speaker 9: I declare bankruptcy, and he thinks that all of a
- 25:26Speaker 9: sudden his financial worries will go away.
- 25:29Speaker 8: So no, that's not how That's not how it works
- 25:32Speaker 8: at all.
- 25:34Speaker 9: Coaches that think love the idea of controlling everything and
- 25:38Speaker 9: pushing a button and making something happen, but that's just
- 25:41Speaker 9: not logistically how it's going to work.
- 25:44Speaker 1: You do understand that's frustration though, right, They lost two games,
- 25:48Speaker 1: and I understand the head to head in Texas or
- 25:50Speaker 1: Vanderbilt not gonna make it, but the fact that Texas
- 25:52Speaker 1: ranked ahead of Vanderbilt, they did beat him head to head,
- 25:55Speaker 1: but Texas lost three games. So don't you do you
- 25:58Speaker 1: understand Vanderbil else like anger at the system?
- 26:02Speaker 3: Sure?
- 26:02Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, look, there's one hundred and thirty seven
- 26:07Speaker 9: FBS teams. There's sixty eight Power Conference teams, and we
- 26:11Speaker 9: have twelve playoffs. Right, the number of spots make up
- 26:15Speaker 9: about nine percent of the FBS, So nine percent of
- 26:21Speaker 9: FBS makes it to the postseason. Most pro sports and
- 26:25Speaker 9: a lot of NCAA sports too, at least twenty percent
- 26:30Speaker 9: or more of a of a field make the playoffs.
- 26:33Speaker 8: So uh, there's a lot of frustration about the size
- 26:38Speaker 8: of the playoff field, and that's.
- 26:40Speaker 9: Why commissioners are, you know, steady trying to come to
- 26:47Speaker 9: some resolution or agreement to expand the field. So I
- 26:51Speaker 9: think there are a lot of frustrated schools out there,
- 26:56Speaker 9: and Vanderbilt has a right to be frustrated.
- 26:58Speaker 8: Texas to a degree, has a right to be for
- 27:00Speaker 8: straight in Utah is ten and two.
- 27:02Speaker 9: They certainly have a right to be frustrated. But that's
- 27:07Speaker 9: the way it is right now with the twelve team playoffs.
- 27:10Speaker 1: I think the committee kind of sucks in that Miami
- 27:14Speaker 1: beat Notre Dame. Okay, so head to head, but they
- 27:18Speaker 1: still have Notre Dame ranked over Miami right now now.
- 27:22Speaker 1: But to contradict themselves, they've got Texas over Vanderbilt. Like
- 27:26Speaker 1: they're kind of saying one thing but also showing a
- 27:30Speaker 1: different thing. Does this mean we need to open it
- 27:32Speaker 1: up to more teams or less teams?
- 27:35Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 27:35Speaker 9: Well, I mean, you know there are some people out
- 27:37Speaker 9: there that think, you know, that twelve is actually too many,
- 27:41Speaker 9: right and we should go back to four, or maybe
- 27:43Speaker 9: if they should be eight or six or something like that.
- 27:47Speaker 9: You know, you talk to college coaches and most of
- 27:50Speaker 9: them will say annually that there's six to eight teams
- 27:57Speaker 9: that can win the national championship, So twelve gives us
- 28:01Speaker 9: a few more than that.
- 28:04Speaker 8: Twelve seems like a good number.
- 28:07Speaker 9: But again, when you look at other pro sports and
- 28:11Speaker 9: even other NCAA sports, nine percent of the field making
- 28:16Speaker 9: the postseason, nine percent of the sport making the pro
- 28:21Speaker 9: season seems to be a kind of a low number,
- 28:24Speaker 9: And I think that's why, you know, a lot of
- 28:28Speaker 9: commissioners and athletic directors hope that commissioners come to some
- 28:33Speaker 9: agreement on perhaps a sixteen team field, or may be
- 28:37Speaker 9: even one that has twenty teams.
- 28:39Speaker 8: Twenty plus teams.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm in for that. It's full hunger games, like
- 28:42Speaker 1: everybody in like no conference championship. We don't need them
- 28:46Speaker 1: anymore because we're seeing, except for BYU maybe beating Texas
- 28:49Speaker 1: Tech to get in, like, the conference championship games really
- 28:52Speaker 1: aren't mattering in the grand scheme. I think it's cool
- 28:54Speaker 1: for like an Indiana who has never won a Big
- 28:56Speaker 1: Ten championship to be able to play in one, But
- 28:59Speaker 1: I think the championship games don't matter as much. So
- 29:02Speaker 1: let's kill this week and let's make it thirty two teams.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Let's use this week as the week leading man. What
- 29:07Speaker 1: do you think about that?
- 29:08Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 29:09Speaker 8: Well there, you know, there's a proposal from the Big Ten.
- 29:13Speaker 9: It's a twenty fourteen proposal, and it would basically kill
- 29:17Speaker 9: the conference championship games, right it would. It would force uh,
- 29:22Speaker 9: it would force you know, college athletic leaders to basically
- 29:28Speaker 9: eliminate conference championship games and then on this week you
- 29:33Speaker 9: have perhaps you have Army Navy. You move it up
- 29:35Speaker 9: a week, and the next week you start, you know,
- 29:39Speaker 9: around to the playoffs.
- 29:41Speaker 8: That's sort of the idea.
- 29:43Speaker 9: In this twenty four team bracket, you'd have multiple AQ
- 29:47Speaker 9: automatic qualifiers for the Big Ten, four for the SEC,
- 29:52Speaker 9: four for the ACC, four for the Big Twelve, two
- 29:56Speaker 9: for the Group of five and six at low arch.
- 30:00Speaker 8: So that would that would be.
- 30:03Speaker 9: The format of how the playoff field would be set.
- 30:05Speaker 8: That's a proposal from the Big Ten. It's under discussion.
- 30:10Speaker 9: The SEC and the Big Ten have to agree Brandy
- 30:13Speaker 9: expanded playoff format to be approved and adopted, and right
- 30:18Speaker 9: now they're not agreeing. The SEC is not agreeing with
- 30:21Speaker 9: that format. They want more of a smaller field sixteen teams.
- 30:26Speaker 9: They only want to expand out probably to about sixteen teams,
- 30:29Speaker 9: and they don't want the automatic qualifiers.
- 30:32Speaker 8: They want a bigger at large pool.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Is Juice Kiffen one of the weirder stories in the
- 30:37Speaker 1: past five years?
- 30:40Speaker 8: It is, Yeah, it is the fact that I guess
- 30:45Speaker 8: Lane Kiffin.
- 30:45Speaker 9: I don't know the details except that maybe Lane Kiffen
- 30:48Speaker 9: doesn't the dog or something.
- 30:51Speaker 8: Yeah, that dogs toe the dog is with other people,
- 30:56Speaker 8: you know. It's just it's it's typical, right.
- 30:59Speaker 9: This, This Lane's or which I've followed out for a week,
- 31:01Speaker 9: who quite literally physically followed him around Mississippi and in
- 31:06Speaker 9: the Louisiana is a weird one.
- 31:09Speaker 8: The whole story is odd, and.
- 31:11Speaker 9: This is just I guess I shouldn't be surprised another
- 31:14Speaker 9: odd part of the story.
- 31:15Speaker 1: It is brilliant because I would often see Juice Kiffin's
- 31:18Speaker 1: tweets and I'm like, Lane's got a dog, who doesn't love?
- 31:21Speaker 1: A good American man with the dog must mean he's
- 31:23Speaker 1: a pretty good person. Must mean there's some depth for
- 31:25Speaker 1: love that maybe I didn't think Lane Kiffin had. Because
- 31:27Speaker 1: Lane Kevin's buncing around everywhere loving nobody, and he has
- 31:30Speaker 1: a dog. So there's that. And often during my life
- 31:33Speaker 1: I only had a dog, so I related to that.
- 31:36Speaker 1: And Juice is like killing He's tweeting out, you know,
- 31:38Speaker 1: can it be Ole Miss and Georgia in the championship game.
- 31:41Speaker 1: He's tweeting from the plane. Turns out he lives at
- 31:43Speaker 1: a kennel. He doesn't even live with Lane. It's the
- 31:45Speaker 1: most bizarre thing. Also, shout out to the person who
- 31:48Speaker 1: created that as a pr tactic because it made me
- 31:50Speaker 1: like Lane a little more because he likes dogs.
- 31:52Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 31:56Speaker 9: Yes, a lot of people were drawn to Juice. In fact,
- 32:01Speaker 9: I remember visiting Lane when he got well he got
- 32:05Speaker 9: Juice quote unquote whatever, and that was like years three
- 32:09Speaker 9: or four years ago, and I was there in Oxford
- 32:12Speaker 9: and Juice was a puppy and he was in the office.
- 32:15Speaker 8: He was in his office.
- 32:17Speaker 9: So I don't know, I don't know what to make
- 32:19Speaker 9: of all the the Juice dog.
- 32:22Speaker 1: You know, there was an email that's like Ross is coming,
- 32:24Speaker 1: get Juice over to the office cause you's gonna write
- 32:26Speaker 1: a story for sure. What do you think the lame
- 32:30Speaker 1: situation is in at LSU and Baton Rugine. How many
- 32:34Speaker 1: does he have to win a championship in three to
- 32:35Speaker 1: four years?
- 32:36Speaker 9: I think there would be a lot of disappointment if,
- 32:40Speaker 9: certainly by year four, if LSU didn't win a at
- 32:46Speaker 9: least win an SEC championship at the very least. You know,
- 32:51Speaker 9: when you get into the playoff as big as it's
- 32:54Speaker 9: gotten at twelve, and it might be in four years,
- 32:57Speaker 9: it might be sixteen or twenty four or whatever. It's
- 33:00Speaker 9: kind of a craft shoot. I think people understand that,
- 33:03Speaker 9: kind of like the NCAA basketball tournament sort of. But
- 33:07Speaker 9: just getting there is important. So just competing and being
- 33:11Speaker 9: in the playoff I think is number one that you
- 33:15Speaker 9: need to do. But look the last well before Brian Kelly,
- 33:23Speaker 9: three straight LSU coaches each won a national championship, and
- 33:29Speaker 9: I believe they all did it in their third year.
- 33:34Speaker 9: I think they all did it in their third year.
- 33:36Speaker 9: With all with all championship games held in New Orleans,
- 33:41Speaker 9: it all just kind of odd and so as it
- 33:44Speaker 9: turns out, I believe in twenty twenty eight, the national
- 33:49Speaker 9: Championship game is in New Orleans. Lane's third year, so
- 33:55Speaker 9: there's gonna be a lot of people pointing to that
- 33:56Speaker 9: obviously with.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Peek Golden taking the job at ole Miss and you
- 34:00Speaker 1: could probably confirm or deny because I don't know what
- 34:03Speaker 1: to believe anymore. There's the story of Lane being in
- 34:05Speaker 1: his office watching the Iron Bowl and Golden coming in
- 34:07Speaker 1: and being like, this is my office, now get the
- 34:09Speaker 1: crap out of here. Is that even true?
- 34:15Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Then it must not be so, but it must not be.
- 34:18Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't know. I'm not sure. I that would
- 34:23Speaker 8: be pretty crazy. But then again, we know that.
- 34:30Speaker 9: Before that game, right before that game started, the meeting
- 34:35Speaker 9: at the Chancellor's house, the oldest Chancellor's house, which involved
- 34:38Speaker 9: the chancellor and Lane and the athletic director Keif Carter
- 34:43Speaker 9: did did end, and that's where Lane sort of told
- 34:46Speaker 9: him that he intended to leave. So by that point
- 34:50Speaker 9: that Saturday night, it was it was known. So it's
- 34:52Speaker 9: possible that that that happened, But that's that's I have
- 34:56Speaker 9: not heard that.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Do you think there is any true to the idea
- 35:00Speaker 1: of if Alabama had lost that game, that Caylen de
- 35:05Speaker 1: Moore takes a job at Penn State and then Lane
- 35:07Speaker 1: ends up going to Alabama because that's a job he
- 35:08Speaker 1: really wanted.
- 35:11Speaker 9: I have a hard time believing that Kaylen Deboor first off,
- 35:16Speaker 9: would would have left Alabama.
- 35:21Speaker 8: For Penn State.
- 35:22Speaker 9: I just have a hard time getting over that one
- 35:25Speaker 9: to begin with, that that was a possibility.
- 35:28Speaker 8: I don't know. I don't know if that was ever
- 35:30Speaker 8: really a possibility.
- 35:32Speaker 9: I do know that Lane takes advice and leans on
- 35:38Speaker 9: certain people that probably believe that the Alabama job is
- 35:43Speaker 9: a great job, certainly like Nick Saban. So I just
- 35:48Speaker 9: in order for that to happen, I think the first
- 35:50Speaker 9: thing that had happened was Taylan leaving, and I just
- 35:55Speaker 9: never believed that was a real possibility.
- 35:58Speaker 1: I now have a new possibilit You had a cat briefly.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Is that a real cat? Is that even your cat?
- 36:03Speaker 1: Or are you just trying to get us to like
- 36:04Speaker 1: you better?
- 36:05Speaker 8: The cat that was yeah, that I had to throw
- 36:07Speaker 8: off my lap? That is Is that really your real cat?
- 36:09Speaker 8: That is that is my cat?
- 36:11Speaker 9: I promise you it doesn't. It doesn't spend although sometimes
- 36:15Speaker 9: I wish it would. It doesn't spend like the weekends
- 36:18Speaker 9: in other days when I'm off camera in some kennel somewhere.
- 36:21Speaker 3: But it is my it is my cat.
- 36:23Speaker 10: I don't know where she went now Juice the cat
- 36:26Speaker 10: Juice Juice Maybe No, her name is Maxine. We call
- 36:34Speaker 10: her max for sure.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Do you think Indiana has the talent to play with
- 36:39Speaker 1: Ohio State?
- 36:40Speaker 9: I think when Indiana has done looking well, I will
- 36:45Speaker 9: state the most talented team in the country.
- 36:47Speaker 8: I think they have.
- 36:49Speaker 9: Shoot, they probably have like five of the top ten
- 36:52Speaker 9: players in the country just on one team.
- 36:55Speaker 8: So it's going to be tough.
- 36:57Speaker 9: Uh, they're playing really well right now what they did
- 37:00Speaker 9: in the cold and sleep on the road in Arbor.
- 37:06Speaker 9: But I think what Indian has done and how their
- 37:10Speaker 9: quarterback is played, and how their defense, especially their defensive
- 37:14Speaker 9: front is played, I think they can hang around. I
- 37:19Speaker 9: don't think they're gonna win, you know, I think Ohio
- 37:22Speaker 9: State has too many weapons. But it wouldn't shock me
- 37:25Speaker 9: if they entered the fourth quarter that's a one score game.
- 37:29Speaker 1: If it is a three or more score game, any
- 37:31Speaker 1: chance they lose the buy I.
- 37:33Speaker 8: Would be surprised. I guess it depends on what happens
- 37:35Speaker 8: in other games. You know, if Alabama beached.
- 37:39Speaker 9: Georgia, that would probably push Georgia out of the top
- 37:44Speaker 9: four in the by If BYU were to upset Texas Tech, right,
- 37:49Speaker 9: that would push Texas Tech off the buy. So if
- 37:52Speaker 9: one of those two things happen, you would think even
- 37:55Speaker 9: with a big even losing significantly, Indiana would still get
- 37:59Speaker 9: the buy. If those things don't happen, in Texas Tech
- 38:05Speaker 9: wins and Georgia wins, it beats Alabama maybe to be closer,
- 38:10Speaker 9: but I still think pretty much, no matter what, they'll
- 38:14Speaker 9: get the buy that you know that if everybody wins
- 38:17Speaker 9: that's in the four right now, they probably except for
- 38:22Speaker 9: this game, obviously, we're talking about the three of the four.
- 38:25Speaker 8: If they win, they'll stay in the buy and I
- 38:27Speaker 8: think Indiana does too.
- 38:28Speaker 9: I think it's just where they'll slip, right they'll probably
- 38:31Speaker 9: slip to if Georgia wins. They'll probably slip to numbers
- 38:35Speaker 9: number three. If they lose against Ohio State, and especially
- 38:38Speaker 9: if it's not like an overtime game or something, but
- 38:41Speaker 9: if they lose by two or three touchdowns, they could
- 38:44Speaker 9: slip to number four, maybe beyond Texas Tech.
- 38:48Speaker 8: It's possible. I don't know about slipping to five though.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I have two final questions for you. If Duke wins
- 38:54Speaker 1: the ACC Championship, do they get in.
- 38:57Speaker 8: That's the big question.
- 38:58Speaker 9: If Duke wins, are they ranked in front of JMU,
- 39:03Speaker 9: And your listeners are probably like, what are you talking about?
- 39:06Speaker 8: JMU four?
- 39:07Speaker 9: And I'll explain because it's there's a little misconception that
- 39:11Speaker 9: the Power Conference champions, all four of the Power Conference
- 39:15Speaker 9: champions getting AQ and there's one designated for the G
- 39:19Speaker 9: five champion. That's not right, actually right, it's the five
- 39:23Speaker 9: highest ranked conference champions. So if the ACC champion isn't
- 39:31Speaker 9: raked ahead of the second highest G five Group of
- 39:35Speaker 9: five champion, which would be potentially JMU, then two Group
- 39:41Speaker 9: of five champions, the American champion either two Late or
- 39:44Speaker 9: North Texas, they play each other, and JMU get into
- 39:49Speaker 9: the playoff and the ACC would be left out. There's
- 39:52Speaker 9: a chance that that happens if Duke upsets Virginia. Now,
- 39:56Speaker 9: the Duke win over Virginia is a I mean this
- 40:01Speaker 9: ten and two that ranked the top fifteen, top seventeen,
- 40:04Speaker 9: so that would be a good win.
- 40:05Speaker 8: It isn't enough to jump Duke over JMU. Jamie was ranking.
- 40:10Speaker 9: Number twenty five right now, Duke isn't ranked at all,
- 40:13Speaker 9: So does that get them in the rankings. That's going
- 40:18Speaker 9: to be an interesting one for the committee if that
- 40:20Speaker 9: all unfolds.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Duke's had five losses, right, I mean it's kind
- 40:23Speaker 1: of hard to rank a team with five losses. Who lost?
- 40:27Speaker 1: I mean they lost to NC State and it wasn't
- 40:29Speaker 1: counted as a conference game because.
- 40:30Speaker 8: It was already lost to Yukon.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, final question for you, who do you think
- 40:34Speaker 1: actually can win? If you had to tear these out?
- 40:37Speaker 1: Who can win the national championship?
- 40:40Speaker 9: Certainly Ohio State, I think Georgia, you know, I I
- 40:48Speaker 9: think Indiana has played well enough. I'm gonna win at
- 40:50Speaker 9: Oregon tells me a lot that they should be a
- 40:53Speaker 9: contender as well. And then I look at the way
- 40:58Speaker 9: Notre Dame is playing, look at the way Notre Dame
- 41:01Speaker 9: played last year in the playoffs, and it makes me
- 41:04Speaker 9: think that they can win a national championship too if
- 41:07Speaker 9: they get in. That's another going to be another interesting
- 41:10Speaker 9: debate by the selection committee.
- 41:13Speaker 1: No Texas Tech, No Oregon.
- 41:18Speaker 8: Look, I mean Texas Tech's front seven, in their quarterback
- 41:25Speaker 8: and how.
- 41:27Speaker 9: He's played. Uh, they have the they have the tools
- 41:32Speaker 9: I think to do it. I don't think there's any
- 41:34Speaker 9: doubt about that. And we've seen Oregon just doesn't seem
- 41:40Speaker 9: to the level it was last year. Obviously, it lost
- 41:43Speaker 9: in the first game last year to Ohio State in
- 41:45Speaker 9: the weird format and the weird playoff format. But I
- 41:48Speaker 9: think to a degree, all you know, all these teams,
- 41:51Speaker 9: all these Power conference teams that make the playoff have
- 41:55Speaker 9: a good chance, you know, to make a run. And
- 41:58Speaker 9: like I said earlier, it's kind of like the playoff
- 42:01Speaker 9: expanded enough where it's kind of like the NCAA tournament.
- 42:03Speaker 8: If you get in, who knows who could happen.
- 42:06Speaker 1: On Instagram, Ross Underscore Dellinger and also check out College
- 42:09Speaker 1: Football inquirer uh the podcast and yeah, thanks for the time.

- 42:19Speaker 1: what up. Hope you guys have a great day.
- 42:21Speaker 8: Get to you. Thanks guys, one buddy.

- 43:40Speaker 1: Now we're going to go over to former NFL wide
- 43:43Speaker 1: receiver Alan Robbinson. He played for the Jaguars, the Bears,
- 43:45Speaker 1: the Rams, the Steelers, the Lions. After a dominant college
- 43:48Speaker 1: career at Penn State, where he was a two time
- 43:50Speaker 1: Big Ten Receiver of the Year, we talk about this.
- 43:53Speaker 1: He hasn't officially retired yet, but we get into it.
- 43:56Speaker 1: But he does a lot of coverage on the NFL
- 43:58Speaker 1: now and you can check him out at Alan ro
- 44:00Speaker 1: Robinson eleven. Here he is Alan Robinson. Hey, we were
- 44:03Speaker 1: having a little debate Allan, because there's a graphic of
- 44:05Speaker 1: you that we have up on the screen and it's
- 44:08Speaker 1: you as a lion. But then around the room it
- 44:10Speaker 1: was like, I don't know, should it be a jaguar?
- 44:12Speaker 1: Should he be a bear? Like what would you have
- 44:14Speaker 1: made you on the graphic?
- 44:15Speaker 4: Ooh, that's a great question. I probably would say a bear.
- 44:19Speaker 4: That's probably what I would go with.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Bear. I would say bear or jaguar. I'm kind of torn,
- 44:23Speaker 3: you know, at the end of the day.
- 44:24Speaker 4: For myself, I talk about it all the time on which,
- 44:26Speaker 4: you know, when it comes time to retire and what
- 44:29Speaker 4: team I want to retire. As you know, I'm still
- 44:31Speaker 4: kind of split down the middle.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a understand bad graphic. We like to apologize
- 44:36Speaker 1: for our lion graphic. There, Alan, listen, listen, I got
- 44:39Speaker 1: a lot of love for Detroit.
- 44:40Speaker 5: Man.
- 44:40Speaker 3: I'm from Detroit, you know, so it's all good.
- 44:42Speaker 1: And you played multiple sports too, right, Were you a
- 44:44Speaker 1: track star?
- 44:45Speaker 4: No, I was a basketball player. You know, I was
- 44:47Speaker 4: a big basketball player. I tell everybody, man just over
- 44:51Speaker 4: even now, you know, still and in my lifetime, I've
- 44:54Speaker 4: spent countless numbers of hours more in the gym than
- 44:57Speaker 4: I did on the field.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Did you think you might play basketball at the next level?
- 45:01Speaker 1: And when did it go from basketball to football?
- 45:03Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 45:03Speaker 4: I did, you know, even then, you know, having some
- 45:05Speaker 4: small offers in high school, you know, basketball wise, for me,
- 45:09Speaker 4: it shifted my junior season. After my junior season in
- 45:13Speaker 4: high school football wise, kind of when I shifted my
- 45:15Speaker 4: focus going into my senior year for myself, you know,
- 45:19Speaker 4: that's kind of I was a three star recruit, I think.
- 45:21Speaker 4: But you know, even a lot of that was from
- 45:22Speaker 4: I didn't go to any like Nike football camps or
- 45:25Speaker 4: I didn't go to anything like that.
- 45:27Speaker 10: You know.
- 45:27Speaker 3: For me, I was mainly playing AAU.
- 45:29Speaker 4: You know, I was in California, Las Vegas, Arizona over
- 45:33Speaker 4: the summer, you know, playing in these kind of tournaments.
- 45:36Speaker 1: You played at Penn and I have NFL questions too,
- 45:38Speaker 1: But I'm just generally curious about your career and that
- 45:40Speaker 1: you played at Penn State and you you know, you
- 45:43Speaker 1: lead the Big ten of receptions, and but it's cold.
- 45:47Speaker 1: If you'd have played somewhere warmer, don't you feel like
- 45:49Speaker 1: you could have just balled out so much harder?
- 45:51Speaker 3: You know, I'll say this, I mean, that's that's possible.
- 45:54Speaker 4: But at the same time, you know, I think for me,
- 45:56Speaker 4: especially my sophomore junior year, was a combination of getting
- 45:59Speaker 4: Bill O'Brien and there he was a guy who trusted
- 46:01Speaker 4: me through and through to be able to give me
- 46:02Speaker 4: those opportunities, you know, And he also was a guy
- 46:04Speaker 4: who came from New England, you know, so rain, sleet,
- 46:06Speaker 4: snow hill.
- 46:07Speaker 3: He was going to throw the rock.
- 46:08Speaker 1: You know.
- 46:08Speaker 3: It was only a couple of games that I can
- 46:09Speaker 3: remember where you know.
- 46:11Speaker 4: The elements affected us passing the ball, and like I
- 46:14Speaker 4: said before, that was only a couple of times.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Whenever you're getting ready for the draft, and I think
- 46:19Speaker 1: you in the second round, like what were they telling
- 46:21Speaker 1: you pre draft? Where did you think you'd go? Who
- 46:23Speaker 1: did you think you'd go to and then how did
- 46:24Speaker 1: it shake out?
- 46:26Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 46:27Speaker 4: Actually I thought I was gonna go to the Carolina
- 46:29Speaker 4: Panthers the week of the draft. So the draft was
- 46:32Speaker 4: on a Thursday, I believe that, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
- 46:37Speaker 4: I spent those three days talking to Carolina receiver coach.
- 46:42Speaker 3: He came to Detroit.
- 46:43Speaker 4: We spent time in my high school on the board
- 46:45Speaker 4: watching film for about three days, you know, so he
- 46:49Speaker 4: got to know me extremely well.
- 46:51Speaker 3: And it felt as if you know that that was
- 46:53Speaker 3: a viable option as far as where I would go.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Why didn't you go there?
- 46:58Speaker 3: What happened drafting Kelvin Benjamin?
- 47:01Speaker 4: And you know, sometimes how the draft works is everybody
- 47:04Speaker 4: has people a little bit different on their board a
- 47:06Speaker 4: little bit. And when I say different, I mean a
- 47:08Speaker 4: little bit different than when you have like the top
- 47:10Speaker 4: mix shades and stuff like that. Like everybody's border is
- 47:12Speaker 4: a little bit different. So Kelvin Benjamin may have gotten
- 47:14Speaker 4: taken early. You know, I think that they may have
- 47:17Speaker 4: drafted me.
- 47:18Speaker 1: But then you go somewhere warm, you go to Jacksonville,
- 47:21Speaker 1: I mean, how did that feel good to play ball
- 47:23Speaker 1: where it's not freezing cold?
- 47:24Speaker 3: It did you know, and and also for myself, you know,
- 47:27Speaker 3: that was what I wanted to do my mind. Even
- 47:30Speaker 3: in college.
- 47:30Speaker 4: You know, I would tell people that I wanted to
- 47:31Speaker 4: go somewhere hot when it came to the NFL, so granted,
- 47:34Speaker 4: I would. I would joke at everybody and say it
- 47:36Speaker 4: was Jacksonville, you know, which for me wasn't ideal. But
- 47:38Speaker 4: at the end of the day, it was hot, and
- 47:40Speaker 4: now was something that I asked for.
- 47:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I wanted to be warm, like I have to
- 47:43Speaker 1: wear gloves just to stay warm. You wear gloves to
- 47:45Speaker 1: catch ball. I hate cold weather. By the way, onland.
- 47:47Speaker 1: If you can't tell, hey, so you feel you you're
- 47:49Speaker 1: done though now right like you're done, you're done, you're retired.
- 47:53Speaker 4: I'm not retired yet, so I mean, you know, at
- 47:57Speaker 4: the end of the day, I'm a I'm a I'll
- 47:59Speaker 4: feel out to see where my body is at next
- 48:01Speaker 4: spring and stuff like that. You know, I would say
- 48:03Speaker 4: that I'm definitely closer to retirement than any other time
- 48:06Speaker 4: that I've been in you know, which also may be
- 48:08Speaker 4: an option next spring.
- 48:10Speaker 3: But I'm not. I'm not totally done yet. I wouldn't.
- 48:12Speaker 4: I wouldn't completely close the door, you know, Obviously, we've
- 48:15Speaker 4: saw receivers in other positions come back after being a
- 48:18Speaker 4: year out of ball, just as far as getting their
- 48:20Speaker 4: body right and stuff like that.
- 48:21Speaker 1: So are you training you stay in shape like football
- 48:23Speaker 1: shape that ye oh yeah, I'm yeah, I'm in shape.
- 48:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Man, I do the same trend that I've been doing,
- 48:29Speaker 4: you know, even even when I was active on a
- 48:31Speaker 4: team or playing. You know, I was on a treadmill
- 48:33Speaker 4: last week, you know, doing some high high volume sprints.
- 48:36Speaker 4: You know, I hit twenty three miles an hour, you know.
- 48:38Speaker 4: So I'm still in great shape. Man, I'm in great shape.
- 48:41Speaker 1: If a team called right now, you can take the
- 48:44Speaker 1: call right now.
- 48:45Speaker 3: I wouldn't.
- 48:46Speaker 4: And that's based on a few different things, you know,
- 48:48Speaker 4: again just kind of you know, I've been in this
- 48:51Speaker 4: situation before. When how much you have to learn of
- 48:54Speaker 4: a playbook and stuff like that. You know, I've kind
- 48:56Speaker 4: of closed closed the door on this year, you know.
- 48:58Speaker 4: But being able to possibly get on the team next
- 49:00Speaker 4: year for OTAs or in the spring, you know, that
- 49:02Speaker 4: would be a better option for me rather than jumping
- 49:05Speaker 4: on a moving train right now. That'd be a little
- 49:06Speaker 4: bit tough as far as and that's more so the
- 49:08Speaker 4: mental aspect.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Of it all.
- 49:10Speaker 1: I was listening to your analysis and then I was
- 49:12Speaker 1: also watching some of your clips on Instagram. You guys
- 49:14Speaker 1: can go Alan Robinson eleven and like watch you talk
- 49:17Speaker 1: about ball. How do you like that version of your
- 49:19Speaker 1: career now where it's you talking about it instead of
- 49:21Speaker 1: playing it.
- 49:22Speaker 3: I enjoy it, you know.
- 49:24Speaker 4: I look at myself as kind of like a savant
- 49:26Speaker 4: a little bit when it comes to football, as far
- 49:28Speaker 4: as knowing the x's and o's, knowing the ins and outs.
- 49:31Speaker 4: You know, that was something that I prided myself on
- 49:33Speaker 4: my career. So being able to, you know, speak on
- 49:36Speaker 4: that I feel very comfortable with because, like I said before,
- 49:39Speaker 4: whether that's in meeting, communicating to my teammates, communicating to
- 49:42Speaker 4: my coaches, coverages, different things up front with the with
- 49:47Speaker 4: the O line and stuff like that, being able to
- 49:49Speaker 4: have a good grasp with everything that's going on.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I took pride in that.
- 49:53Speaker 1: We talked about the Bears earlier. I want to start
- 49:55Speaker 1: with the Bears right now. If the playoff started, they'd
- 49:57Speaker 1: be the number one seed in the NFC. How about
- 49:59Speaker 1: those Bears? Like, how real are the Bears this year?
- 50:03Speaker 3: I think they're real?
- 50:03Speaker 4: You know, especially now as they're starting to gain confidence
- 50:06Speaker 4: to pick up steam, and you know, at the end
- 50:07Speaker 4: of the day, they've taken the personality of their coach.
- 50:09Speaker 4: You know, I've said since day one, Ben Johnson is
- 50:12Speaker 4: the real deal. You know from the way that he coaches,
- 50:14Speaker 4: how detailed he is. For him, he coaches his best
- 50:17Speaker 4: in crunch time and in close games, so his teams
- 50:20Speaker 4: tend to play the best at that point in time too.
- 50:22Speaker 4: You know, he's not a guy who's, you know, gonna
- 50:26Speaker 4: get tight when it comes to play calls and stuff
- 50:29Speaker 4: like that. Man, he's going to empty the clip and
- 50:31Speaker 4: he expects his players to do the same.
- 50:33Speaker 1: And I get that different humans have different personalities. But
- 50:35Speaker 1: when you say a coach is detail oriented, did you
- 50:39Speaker 1: ever have a coach that just didn't give a crap
- 50:40Speaker 1: about details? You don't have to say who you don't
- 50:43Speaker 1: have to say, who say?
- 50:45Speaker 4: I wouldn't say, didn't give a crap about details. But
- 50:48Speaker 4: I think there are coaches who are a little bit
- 50:50Speaker 4: more detailed oriented when it comes to specific splits, specific depths,
- 50:54Speaker 4: how those things happen. Because you do have some some
- 50:57Speaker 4: offenses and stuff that's more schematic, and you do have
- 50:59Speaker 4: some offenses that's more matchup.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Base, and so the schematic would be the more detailed,
- 51:04Speaker 1: like you have to do things exactly based on the
- 51:06Speaker 1: scheme more so than who you're up against.
- 51:07Speaker 4: Exactly schematics and timing rather than some matchup based schemes
- 51:11Speaker 4: are a little bit more loose and you know, the
- 51:13Speaker 4: quarterback may wait on your timing a little bit more
- 51:15Speaker 4: than more of a scheme based offense that's predicated on timing.
- 51:20Speaker 1: What about Dallas Cowboys. You're talked about the Cowboys these
- 51:22Speaker 1: last few weeks. They look pretty good defensively, they're playing
- 51:24Speaker 1: much better. You think they can make the playoffs.
- 51:27Speaker 4: They started off slow, so I think it has to
- 51:29Speaker 4: do with the other teams around them. Do I think
- 51:31Speaker 4: they're a caliber a playoff caliber team right now at
- 51:34Speaker 4: the moment. Yes, And even how we just kind of
- 51:36Speaker 4: talked about matchup versus scheme, I think when you look
- 51:38Speaker 4: at them, they have a lot of matchup based stuff
- 51:40Speaker 4: in their offense, which gives Dak Prescott to kind of
- 51:43Speaker 4: hold on his back foot, wait for George Pickens, wait
- 51:45Speaker 4: for CD Lamb and then be able to just give
- 51:48Speaker 4: those guys opportunities. And that's contested as well, because you know,
- 51:52Speaker 4: to kind of follow up on the schematic thing is,
- 51:54Speaker 4: you have some coaches and I even heard Ben Johnson
- 51:56Speaker 4: say that since press conference, you have some coaches who
- 51:58Speaker 4: don't believe fifty to fifty balls are good opportunities for
- 52:01Speaker 4: the offense as opposed to you look at a team
- 52:03Speaker 4: like the Dallas Cowboys. They'll throw George Pickings fifty fifty
- 52:06Speaker 4: balls any day of the week.
- 52:07Speaker 1: I feel like two of just those all fifty fifty
- 52:09Speaker 1: balls your thoughts, he does, and.
- 52:11Speaker 4: Within it's funny because they're more of a they're more
- 52:14Speaker 4: of a schematic based offense, you know, so you can
- 52:16Speaker 4: kind of understand how that may not play into that,
- 52:19Speaker 4: you know, into the what the Miami Dolphins are are doing,
- 52:23Speaker 4: you know, for him throwing fifty fifty balls in an
- 52:25Speaker 4: offense as majority scheme.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Base Chiefs are six and six. This is a now
- 52:29Speaker 1: that one of these teams going into this week, it's
- 52:31Speaker 1: pretty much an elimination game as they play the Texans.
- 52:33Speaker 1: You think the Chiefs make the playoffs.
- 52:37Speaker 4: They have a tough row to head, you know, again
- 52:38Speaker 4: playing against the Houston Texans this week, I mean we've
- 52:41Speaker 4: saw what their front is like and defensively what they're doing.
- 52:44Speaker 3: So do I think they have a shot? Yes? Do
- 52:47Speaker 3: I think they'll get in?
- 52:48Speaker 9: No?
- 52:49Speaker 1: When you look at the NFC, it's just a cluster
- 52:52Speaker 1: of a bunch of these teams that have three losses
- 52:54Speaker 1: to four losses, but all of them are good. Seattle,
- 52:56Speaker 1: San Francisco we talked about the Bear, the Rams. Rams
- 53:00Speaker 1: had a bad loss last week to Carolina, But you
- 53:03Speaker 1: have a lot of really good teams, but really not
- 53:05Speaker 1: a team that has raised their hand to say, hey
- 53:07Speaker 1: on that team, who do you think it is in
- 53:09Speaker 1: the NFC?
- 53:10Speaker 3: I may have to say to Seahawks.
- 53:12Speaker 4: And I say to Seahawks because watching their defense and
- 53:14Speaker 4: their run game. You know, throughout the course of the season,
- 53:18Speaker 4: their defense has continuously got better, They've been relatively healthy,
- 53:22Speaker 4: they have a good run game, they have a playmaker
- 53:24Speaker 4: in Jackson Smith and Jingba, and you know, when it
- 53:26Speaker 4: comes to teams making deep playoff runs and being true contenders,
- 53:30Speaker 4: that's the makeup for it. Obviously, you have the Rams,
- 53:33Speaker 4: who have probably the best quarterback in the NFC and
- 53:36Speaker 4: who's playing the best right now, and they have a
- 53:38Speaker 4: good defense as well. But I think Seattle Seahawks defense
- 53:41Speaker 4: is a little bit more playmaking as far as how
- 53:44Speaker 4: many turnovers they've been able to force and how they've
- 53:46Speaker 4: capitalized on those throughout the course of the season.
- 53:48Speaker 1: The Eagles are struggling offensively, would you put us solely
- 53:51Speaker 1: on the offensive line, like what's happening there?
- 53:53Speaker 3: I put it on the offensive coordinator.
- 53:55Speaker 4: And I say that because when you kind of go
- 53:57Speaker 4: back to the origin of Nick Sirianni and just him
- 53:59Speaker 4: being a eleven base personnel kind of guy and the
- 54:04Speaker 4: scheme that was originally brought there for me, Like I said,
- 54:07Speaker 4: all the time, when there's numerous players Jalen Hurt, Sakwon Barkley,
- 54:12Speaker 4: Devonte Smith, AJ Brown, Dallas Godd, when you aren't getting
- 54:15Speaker 4: even the old line as well, when you aren't getting
- 54:18Speaker 4: the best out of a collective group, I can't just
- 54:21Speaker 4: put it all on those guys to say that they
- 54:22Speaker 4: chose to not play their best. At the same time,
- 54:25Speaker 4: to me, that's more of an offensive scheme thing and
- 54:28Speaker 4: some things needed to be tweaks needing to be made.
- 54:31Speaker 3: Again.
- 54:32Speaker 4: I don't know exactly what they're running and how they're
- 54:34Speaker 4: doing it, but I do know that it's not working.
- 54:37Speaker 4: And when you look at it, everything just seems to
- 54:40Speaker 4: be off across the board on all levels of what
- 54:42Speaker 4: they're doing on offense.
- 54:44Speaker 1: What do we learn about the coaching hires? Because you
- 54:46Speaker 1: have Vrabel Patriots are killing it. You have Liam Cohen
- 54:48Speaker 1: and Jacksonville they're winning. You got Ben Johnson Chicago they're winning.
- 54:52Speaker 1: You're talking about three teams that did not win and
- 54:54Speaker 1: now here they all all performing well above what they
- 54:57Speaker 1: did last year. Like, what do we learn from all
- 54:59Speaker 1: those coaching hires this season?
- 55:01Speaker 4: Well, I'll say this, I think one thing that we
- 55:03Speaker 4: learned is last year was a phenomenal coaching carousel as
- 55:08Speaker 4: far as the options that were there.
- 55:10Speaker 3: But at the same time, I don't think every year
- 55:13Speaker 3: is equal to that.
- 55:15Speaker 4: You know, like this year as far as coaches, like,
- 55:17Speaker 4: there'll be some names thrown around, but when you look
- 55:18Speaker 4: at some teams looking to add coaches, is who is
- 55:22Speaker 4: that gonna be? You know, there may be some big
- 55:24Speaker 4: names that are fired, you know, hopefully for some guys
- 55:26Speaker 4: that are looking to make a big splash. But I
- 55:28Speaker 4: don't think that every coaching carousel is created equally as
- 55:33Speaker 4: Like last year, you had a lot of big names,
- 55:35Speaker 4: you had experience in Mike Rabel, you had Ben Johnson,
- 55:38Speaker 4: who was you know, the hottest offensive mind the same
- 55:41Speaker 4: with Liam Cohen. You know, you look at where he's
- 55:43Speaker 4: come from and his tree and what he's done, you know,
- 55:46Speaker 4: And I don't know if that is you know, current
- 55:50Speaker 4: right now.
- 55:50Speaker 3: As far as the coaches that are coming up.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Don't you look at the Titans and listen, we're a
- 55:54Speaker 1: national show, but we live in Nashville. Like to fire
- 55:58Speaker 1: Vrabel like that might have been the dumbest move in
- 56:02Speaker 1: coaching in the past five years, right.
- 56:04Speaker 3: I agree, you know, And again, where do you go
- 56:08Speaker 3: from Rabel?
- 56:09Speaker 4: And now they're back at the drawing board as far
- 56:11Speaker 4: as being able to bring in a coach, And I mean,
- 56:13Speaker 4: like you said before, you're in Nashville for the Tennessee Titans.
- 56:16Speaker 3: What are some of the names that you would say
- 56:18Speaker 3: that what kind of.
- 56:19Speaker 4: Maybe steer the boat back in the right direction and
- 56:23Speaker 4: get back on track or kind of maybe get it
- 56:26Speaker 4: to where Rabel was.
- 56:28Speaker 3: I mean, and again I think that's extremely tough acts.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Yeah, and because they don't invest here like that. There's
- 56:33Speaker 1: a reason that they call this a poverty program. Like
- 56:36Speaker 1: there's a reason that the Titans usually weren't good even
- 56:39Speaker 1: with a great coach like Vrabel had some really good teams,
- 56:42Speaker 1: but now you see those were Rabel led teams, not
- 56:44Speaker 1: Titans organization teams, like, there are certain organizations that are
- 56:48Speaker 1: just not good.
- 56:49Speaker 4: Right, Listen, that's a that's a full conversation for another day.
- 56:54Speaker 4: I think as a player, you get that and you
- 56:56Speaker 4: understand that once you go to a few places that again,
- 56:59Speaker 4: everything is not created equal in the NFL as far
- 57:02Speaker 4: as organizationally, you know, facility wise, what the standard is,
- 57:07Speaker 4: cafeteria wise, across the board. Man, everything is not created equally.
- 57:11Speaker 4: And sometimes you have those teams in a like you
- 57:14Speaker 4: were saying, in a situation where they have Mike Rabel,
- 57:17Speaker 4: they can't contend. But other than that, you know, you
- 57:19Speaker 4: have teams where if they don't have a phenomenal coach
- 57:22Speaker 4: who's able to rally some good pieces around for the
- 57:25Speaker 4: most part, you know, they're just gonna kind of fade
- 57:27Speaker 4: to black, you know, and they'll be They'll be relevant
- 57:30Speaker 4: when I say they meaning some of the teams that
- 57:32Speaker 4: you're speaking of, they'll be relevant every blue moon, but
- 57:34Speaker 4: not consistently.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Titans, Cardinals, like just see there you go. No, yeah,
- 57:39Speaker 1: I keep going on that, but like you said that
- 57:41Speaker 1: that's for another day.
- 57:43Speaker 3: Did you have even Cincinnati?
- 57:44Speaker 1: Look at they've just now got an indoor facility just
- 57:47Speaker 1: now to practice in. Yeah, all right, Look tell me
- 57:50Speaker 1: the truth. Best food. When you played who had the
- 57:52Speaker 1: best cafeteria?
- 57:53Speaker 4: Best cafeteria food, I would say it's a tall between
- 58:01Speaker 4: Pittsburgh and Detroit.
- 58:04Speaker 3: Both of those have very very good food, very good
- 58:07Speaker 3: food options.
- 58:08Speaker 4: It's funny because when I was in Jacksonville, shout out
- 58:10Speaker 4: to Jacksonville, because I always joke and say, going into it,
- 58:13Speaker 4: it was like a for me, being a young player,
- 58:16Speaker 4: I didn't think too much of it.
- 58:18Speaker 3: But and again they've made some addition.
- 58:21Speaker 4: Shout out to the con family because they have made
- 58:23Speaker 4: some changes, you know, since they've taken over.
- 58:25Speaker 3: And once I got there, they.
- 58:26Speaker 4: Were relatively new to the ownership of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 58:30Speaker 4: But we didn't consistently eat in the cafeteria. A lot
- 58:34Speaker 4: of things that took place there. Going from Jacksonville to
- 58:38Speaker 4: Chicago to whereas you have an entire practice facility, you know,
- 58:41Speaker 4: where you come in there, you see all the trophies,
- 58:44Speaker 4: you see the cafeteria, you know, so it's been a
- 58:47Speaker 4: lot different, you know, from place to place, but fool wise,
- 58:52Speaker 4: I got to give.
- 58:52Speaker 3: It to Pittsburgh or Detroit.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Let me ask you one final question here, and we
- 58:55Speaker 1: appreciate the time, But when you were playing college ball,
- 58:58Speaker 1: the hardest stadium to play in as a visitor.
- 59:02Speaker 4: Hardest stadium to play in? Funny because I only played
- 59:06Speaker 4: I played at Ohio State twice.
- 59:08Speaker 3: I won there once.
- 59:10Speaker 4: I would say possibly Nebraska, and I say Nebraska because
- 59:16Speaker 4: the time that we played there, Man, not only is
- 59:19Speaker 4: it a pretty hostile environment, but the winds were absolutely ridiculous.
- 59:22Speaker 3: You know, I know that's kind of smack dab in the.
- 59:25Speaker 4: Midwest, you know, around what you have in that area Iowa,
- 59:29Speaker 4: I think Kansas and stuff is close and that in
- 59:33Speaker 4: that kind of region. And I always hear about the
- 59:36Speaker 4: win there, and sure enough, when we did play there,
- 59:38Speaker 4: we were trying to find pockets of the field and
- 59:40Speaker 4: stadium to pass the ball. Armember before the game, Bill
- 59:43Speaker 4: O'Brien coming to me like, listen, man, like there's gonna
- 59:45Speaker 4: be some spots where we could take some shots. But
- 59:47Speaker 4: right now, this stadium is like a complete wind tunnel,
- 59:50Speaker 4: and I don't know if we're gonna be able to
- 59:52Speaker 4: air it out.
- 59:53Speaker 3: How we want it.
- 59:53Speaker 4: So that was that was something that I always remembered
- 59:55Speaker 4: and I didn't know if it was like that, but
- 59:57Speaker 4: I know the same thing going to Iowa, fine wind tunnels, rain,
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: but Nebraska was.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: A little bit more. It was a little bit more
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: turned up than Iowa was.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Hey, Alan, good luck if you decide to go back
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: and play ball again next year or you know, as
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: you continue your career and talking about football because you
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: obviously know the game as good as anybody. Like, good
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: luck and that we really appreciate the time. You guys
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: can follow Alan at Alan Robinson eleven on Instagram. Alan,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: hope you stay healthy, Hope you have a great holiday.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Thank you very much.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: I appreciate it. Man, thanks for having me all right.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: It's funny sometimes when you realize as an adult how
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: you relied to as a kid. And I told the
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: story many times about me finding out about my dog
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: that was sent away to a farm. Oh yeah, and
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: I was forty years old when I found out.
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: I was like, what, that's not what happened.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: That's not what happened.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: He died.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: Yeah, they'd put it down he bit people. Oh okay,
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: but they told me that the Arkansas Keith's friend who
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: lived like on Alice, And I thought that my whole life.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: And then one day I was telling my wife and
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: she was like, that's not true. No, you knew and
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: you didn't know. No, she just knew. It was such
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: an absurd story. They send him to like out of town.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: I never saw him again.
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: And Bobby fell for it as a kid, you know,
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: and I still was holding on to it.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: So I called him. He's like, no, I happened.
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: He was dead shot it, man.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: He didn't even know that. He didn't even know that.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: I didn't know. Dang Eddie has a similar one about
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: the Mike Didco restaurant.
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: This was like, I don't know, twenty years ago, nah,
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: probably like fifteen years old, going to a child. No, no, no,
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: I was about fifteen years ago. My wife and I
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: go to Chicago and it's our first time there and
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: we see there's a Ditkah's restaurant and I'm like, oh,
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: Mike did go the Coach and like, let's go eat there.
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: So we walk in there and it's pretty empty, but
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: the bartender's like, man, pick wherever you want to sit,
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: and I was like, hey, does Mike Didka ever come right.
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: He's like, did you just missed him? Five minutes ago?
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: He was here, sent at the bar, had lunch and everything.
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: You just missed him. I'm like, dangn, that's crazy. And
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: I thought about that my whole life, Like I could
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: have met Mike Ditka. Yeah, if you know, holy if
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: I would have gotten there five minutes sooner, I could
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: have met Mike Didka. I was telling a friend of
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: mine from Chicago. I go this story, and he goes, oh, dude,
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: they tell that to everyone like he's never there, you know,
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: But like they say that so that you can say, like, yeah, dude,
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: you missed him five minutes ago, he was here, come
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: back again. He might come back tonight.
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: That's smart, damn.
- 1:02:15Speaker 11: Or just that you tell people about it. Yeah, he
- 1:02:17Speaker 11: goes there all the time about the bar, so dude,
- 1:02:20Speaker 11: and like this was just the other day, and I
- 1:02:22Speaker 11: was like, I've thought that he was really there my
- 1:02:25Speaker 11: whole life.
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: Did your buddy give you crap for it?
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Felt you really thought he was Like I thought you
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: were a child. They're like thirty years old when that happened.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: Dude.
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: That restaurant's crazy though. They have a Bloody Mary drink
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: that's called I think Mike's Bloody Mary because Mike, Mike
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: obviously drinks it. Probably just had one for you got
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: there when he was drinking five minutes before I got there.
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: And it has like a chicken finger in it, it
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: has like a hot dog in it, it has shrimp
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: in it. It's just loaded. It's the biggest drink I've
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: ever seen in my life.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: And like, did you get one? No?
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: No, I wouldn't even drink that, got it?
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: That's too much.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: I got a couple of things before we jump. So
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I saw this clip and it was Odell Beckham talking
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: about the struggles of one hundred million dollar contract and
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: how it's cutting half and now you can't have generational
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Well here is Odell Beckham Junior talking about this on
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: the Pivot podcast.
- 1:03:14Speaker 12: Always explained this to people. I'm like, bro, you give
- 1:03:16Speaker 12: somebody a five year, one hundred million dollar contract, right,
- 1:03:18Speaker 12: what is it?
- 1:03:19Speaker 8: Really?
- 1:03:19Speaker 12: It's five years for sixty we're getting text that's twelve
- 1:03:22Speaker 12: a year. You know that you have to spend us, save, save, invest,
- 1:03:28Speaker 12: flaunt like whatever. However, just being real, I'm a buy
- 1:03:31Speaker 12: a car, I'm getting my mama house. I'm gonna do
- 1:03:32Speaker 12: everything costs money. So you if you spending four million
- 1:03:36Speaker 12: dollars a year, that's really forty million over five years,
- 1:03:40Speaker 12: eight a year, you know, and now you start breaking
- 1:03:42Speaker 12: down the numbers, it's like that's a five year span
- 1:03:44Speaker 12: of where you're getting eight mill?
- 1:03:46Speaker 8: Can you make that last forever?
- 1:03:49Speaker 12: And now you always hear the people who ain't us
- 1:03:51Speaker 12: and ain't been in the position be like, oh.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: Well that one last life time?
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: What is he talking? There ever been more out of
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: touch human?
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: What is he talking about?
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: You can make that last? Yeah, you can make that lot.
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: You gotta take that middle part out though, where you're
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: gonna spend a little.
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: Bit of me my car, I go spend a little
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: his spen.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Then after you do all the spending, like an eight
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: million levels yeah, put into uh, like there's stuff that
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: we do that we put it into these accounts. I
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: don't know what they are, and it just gets interested.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: It's not even like a bank account and all that.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: And then also it's like investment accounts too, where people
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: like manage these massive accounts and there are just ways
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: that you make money if you have money.
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: It's crazy now I understand being given sixty million dollars
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: it's tempting, right, Like I just made sixty million dollars,
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: like right now, it's in my hands. I can buy
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: a boat like I get the spending is tempting, and
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: he has. But you can make generational wealth with that money.
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: Also his endorsements, though he didn't even talk about that.
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: I mean salary Obie Jay is when he was in
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: his prime, like ten years ago, whatever it was, he
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: was everywhere.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: His cars, he's got at three out of fifty thousand dollars,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Rolls Royce A three hundred and thirty seven thousand dollars,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Ferrari A two hundred and twenty thousand dollars, Lamborghini Hurricon Spider.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: That's how you say that. So he's got Okay, at.
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: That point, you're not thinking about your generation, like the
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: next generation, right, You're thinking about you.
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: And he's got a kid too.
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: I'm sure the kid will be fine.
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: I'm sure you will too.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: But that's crazy to think. And here is the unfair
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: thing about what he starts with. Well, if you get
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: one hundred million dollars, you get tax. Well if somebody
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: makes eighty thousand dollars a year, they also get tax.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Now it's not the exact same tax rate. But it's
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: also not a clear eighty thousand dollars. It's sixty three
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: thousand or whatever the tax So it's not like only
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: rich get money taken off to everybody does. So whatever
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: you claim, the taxes come out of it.
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: But I do see. I see what he's saying with
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: you think it's this much, but it's after taxes.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: It's but it's the same things. Somebody says I'm make
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: a hundred thousand a year. They're not getting a hundred
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: thousand dollars in a year, right.
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: But when you say millions, it seems like a whole
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: different ballgame.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: But it's the same.
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: It is the same. You're right anyway, I thought that's
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: a funny.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Clip, really really really out of touch. A drunk ninety
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: year old man in California survived after crashing his car
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: into a coffee shop on Thanksgiving. The shop was closed
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: at the time. We talking about old people doing stuff.
- 1:06:17Speaker 6: Yes, I wonder if you're recovered.
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: Yeah, he's twenty return yeah, return tools. Car plowed into
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: the Los Gatos Coffee roasting company. Oh Thanksgiving night, that's
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: what that is.
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Those According to police, the driver was a ninety year
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: old man. Nobody was inside the shop at the time.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: It was close for the holiday. The driver was hospitalized
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: and now listed in stable condition. Police aren't investigating the incident. KSBW.
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: This is nothing like that. But I remember when I
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: I was at the beach, you know, and they have
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: those go cart races, okay, and we was time to
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: you know, they put the red light, like all right,
- 1:06:53Speaker 5: I put the cart back and it was like last
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: lap and I was going and everyone had already in
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: front of me. Put the cart back and people were
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: getting out of their go car arts, and like, I
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: hit the gas instead of the break. Dude, I nailed
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: all of them. People were falling out and everything, and
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: I'll never forget that. It's probably what this old man
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: felt like when I don't know what he did, but
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: he maybe hit the gas instead of the break. I've
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: been there, done it.
- 1:07:16Speaker 9: He didn't.
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: It wasn't a coffee shop.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: I didn't go in a coffee shop. But I'll never
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: forget people's face, like what are you doing and the
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: guy hit the brake, don't hit the gas.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: That sucks.
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: I'll never forget it.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: Okay, I think that's it.
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: Anything guys go cow it's a local thing. But Vanderbilt, man,
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: they're up and coming. Those recruits see him flipping.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Well, yeah, to have money, I know, it's great.
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: Who's giving them that money? Nate Pergatzi, I don't know.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: I don't know whe they're getting the I'm not giving
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: them money. It's not my team. Uh, yes, to have money.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: I mean the Arkansas guy came in and who's our
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: new coach? Sover felt and got a bunch of the
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Arkansas recruits in the state, like the top four of
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: the five that were other places, and people are like,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: manage really changing it up. No, No, he just has
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: more money now, that's what it is. People are more
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: confident in him than the last administration, so they're giving
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: him more money to go and spend on players coming in.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: So it's not about coaches giving a better speech in
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: the living room.
- 1:08:17Speaker 6: Yeah, with clerk Lee, he's legit. But they're al he's
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: getting more money because he's turned it around with Diego
- 1:08:22Speaker 6: and all that and confidence in donors.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: They got the number one quarterback the five Star Warslus
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: is going to Georgia.
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: Right down the street here.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Oh he's from a Yeah, and he was going to
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: Georgia and he's going to Georgia. I knew that. I
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: didn't know he lived here though, Yeah, what's the name.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: I saw him?
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: I didn't recognize it either. It wasn't like Willie Peyton
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: or anything. Willie Manning Peyton's other nephew.
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: When when you like give money to school, do you
- 1:08:45Speaker 5: have to give it to him right away? Or can
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: you like pledge it.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: Different? There's not a real there's still no like yeah
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: wild West. You can do whatever you want. But most
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: of the time the stuff that I've done just giving
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: them the money straight up yeah, or I've just committed
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: to doing nils outside of because you can do that.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: You can hire people. It doesn't have to go you
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: have to clear it through like the people that go
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: anything over five hundred ninety nine dollars. You have to
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: go through a board that says, okay, this is actual
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: nil money because you are using them for name, image
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: and likeness. Before that, a collector could just come together
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: and go, we just promise you all this money if
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: you come to play for us, Like there's no name,
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: image likeness, it's just we just promise you this money.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: You can't only do that the same anymore.
- 1:09:31Speaker 6: This might be in the weeds too much. And I
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: don't know if you can say it or not. But
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: like when you put when you donate into the NIL,
- 1:09:36Speaker 6: do they tell you exactly where it's going?
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: It's not really so now it's more profit sharing. You
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: can do NIL outwork there. There are a lot and
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: everybody does it differently. The policing is so different. There's
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: no policing.
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: I just know if you're like, hey, I'm giving you
- 1:09:49Speaker 6: ten thousand dollars on course, yeah this guy or this program,
- 1:09:53Speaker 6: not the basketball football.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Some schools probably do that, but I think that if
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: you're going to do that, they would want you to
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: do yourself. Gotcha give it to them directly well, and
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: then they did work their name image like this part
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: of it because players also are getting paid not through
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: an IL, through profit share with a twenty million or
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: so that each school gets now and they're committing money
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: to each person that way. That profit share equal no, yes,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: yes and no, but not for power depending on if
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: you play in like G five power.
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: Four, but the quarterback gets the same.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Oh no, no, not at all. No, no, no, no,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: I thought you meant to eat. Did the schools get
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: about the same amount of money. No, no, no, I
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: mean yes to that, but not all schools do because.
- 1:10:35Speaker 6: They'll create they don't. Yeah, right, the revenue, right, but no.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: No, if you want a great player, you pay them
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: more money.
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Okay, And I've probably said a couple of things wrong
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: and all of that depending on what school you're a
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: fan of. I just know how a few schools do it,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: and those are different ways than other schools are doing it.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: The how it's done is still so wide open, and
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: you wouldn't really win a lawsuit lose a lawsuit either
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: way because there are no real rules.
- 1:11:02Speaker 8: That's crazy.
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: You think Sam Houston State would take five hundred dollars.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: I think you can donate to the foundation or you could. Yeah,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: I mean I think there's a way to do it.
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: Yes, I mean, you know, like give him like a
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: hundred hundred bucks and I ow, baby, what are you
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: gonna get like a backup hunter? I don't know.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: Whatever they want to use to quarterback.
- 1:11:19Speaker 6: In Texas in high school right now, I'm like, hey, man,
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: you use it wise the boys Samson State?
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: All right, We're done.
- 1:11:25Speaker 6: Jared Curtis, By the way, what's up? Jared Curtis is
- 1:11:28Speaker 6: his name is the quarterback?
