Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / Mitch Orval Slammed Over Croc Video, Jade Tunchy’s Baby Joy, the Racist 'Trade Wife' Who Refuses to Apologise & the Food Court Debate
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken.
- 0:04Speaker 2: It's your dose of the hottest influencer and pop culture
- 0:07Speaker 2: news twice a week. I'm Sophie Torber and coming up
- 0:10Speaker 2: on today's show, Mitch Orville slammed for bizarre video showing
- 0:15Speaker 2: son getting dangerously close to a crocodile, controversial trad wife
- 0:19Speaker 2: fired over racist video, the food court debate and Jade
- 0:24Speaker 2: Tunchi's baby joy. But first, can we be credited for
- 0:29Speaker 2: Shani Grimman's return to social media? Off the back of
- 0:33Speaker 2: our deep dive on Monday into the OG YouTuber, Sharni
- 0:36Speaker 2: said this.
- 0:37Speaker 3: I'm a little bit flustered right now because I just
- 0:41Speaker 3: got sent a podcast about me and my whole like
- 0:44Speaker 3: career online. And I was really scared it was going
- 0:47Speaker 3: to be hate. And that's why I stopped posting in
- 0:50Speaker 3: the first place, like about my personal life, because I
- 0:53Speaker 3: just get so worried I'm going to offend someone or
- 0:56Speaker 3: that someone's going to talk badly about me.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Like I just, I get so scared.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Um, But everything was really positive and actually made me
- 1:04Speaker 3: feel so just, I don't know why I could cry.
- 1:12Speaker 3: I just really miss posting. And I think it was
- 1:14Speaker 3: just like the little reminder that I needed to connect
- 1:19Speaker 3: with you guys again and be more open again. I
- 1:21Speaker 3: think I went through a lot at a certain stage
- 1:24Speaker 3: in my life and I was just really afraid of
- 1:27Speaker 3: what people would think about me and say about me.
- 1:29Speaker 3: So now I feel I just feel re-inspired again to
- 1:32Speaker 3: be more open, I guess. But I do feel like
- 1:37Speaker 3: the easiest way for me to kind of talk about
- 1:38Speaker 3: my life is on TikTok, doing all the little get
- 1:41Speaker 3: ready with me. So I'm going to do one this
- 1:42Speaker 3: week and I want to update you on what's been
- 1:45Speaker 3: happening in the past couple of months. It's been a
- 1:48Speaker 3: crazy ride.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Holy.
- 1:51Speaker 3: But yeah, feeling good and just feeling so grateful for
- 1:58Speaker 3: everything that since I first started social media, like it
- 2:02Speaker 3: was just such a full circle moment listening to that
- 2:07Speaker 3: podcast and just being reminded of the connection that I
- 2:11Speaker 3: have with you guys and everything that I've done since
- 2:14Speaker 3: I was 16, 15 when I first started. It's just
- 2:19Speaker 3: so crazy. I'm actually like getting a rash on my
- 2:25Speaker 3: face because I'm lost it.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I saw Shani's video pop up and she mentioned the
- 2:32Speaker 2: podcast and my heart dropped.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I was like, oh my gosh, what is she going
- 2:35Speaker 1: to say?
- 2:36Speaker 2: But I was so pleased to see that she actually
- 2:38Speaker 2: enjoyed the episode. And we've had so many people messaging
- 2:41Speaker 2: us saying that Shani is their Roman Empire. It was
- 2:44Speaker 2: really nice to see this response from Shani because I
- 2:47Speaker 2: think sometimes our podcast gets a bad rap for potentially
- 2:51Speaker 2: being hard on influencers. And our podcast does stem from
- 2:55Speaker 2: the fact that we really enjoy influencer culture.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And for so many of us, Sharni Grimmon, was.
- 3:00Speaker 2: The first influencer that we followed. And I'm really excited
- 3:03Speaker 2: that this might have inspired her to actually be sharing
- 3:06Speaker 2: more content. She did say that she'll be opening up
- 3:09Speaker 2: more on TikTok. I personally would like a full YouTube
- 3:12Speaker 2: return though. Yes, I want to see her back on YouTube,
- 3:15Speaker 2: but I'd be happy with TikTok videos too. I wonder
- 3:18Speaker 2: if she'll start sharing all about her period and sex
- 3:20Speaker 2: life like she did back in the day on Tumblr.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I would love that sort of content back, but I
- 3:24Speaker 2: don't think her boyfriend Jacob would particularly like it. I
- 3:28Speaker 2: hope it wasn't too awkward for her seeing those clips
- 3:30Speaker 2: of her ex-boyfriend. I think that maybe enough time has
- 3:33Speaker 2: passed that it's sort of funny now.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Well, it was around eight years ago. I think she's
- 3:38Speaker 1: over him. Yeah, definitely. Dragon the Geek ever had fantasies
- 3:42Speaker 1: about him?
- 3:44Speaker 3: You get you together. Imagine having a podcast where people
- 3:48Speaker 3: can't hear what you say. You're just laughing at yourself.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Just wait.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Just calm yourself.
- 3:53Speaker 3: And then talk.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Jade Tunchi and her husband, Lockie Bricky, have announced the
- 3:59Speaker 2: arrival of their baby boy. On Sunday night, Jade revealed
- 4:02Speaker 2: the news to her half a million Instagram followers, sharing
- 4:06Speaker 2: a carousel of very cute photos. Now, in the post,
- 4:09Speaker 2: she also revealed his much-anticipated name, writing, Hello world, my
- 4:14Speaker 2: name is Fletcher Ted Bricky. I arrived on my due date,
- 4:18Speaker 2: June 13th, so you know I'm going to be very reliable.
- 4:22Speaker 1: What do you think about the name, Amy? I... Don't
- 4:25Speaker 1: mind it.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I think it's nice to actually see a pretty traditional
- 4:29Speaker 2: name from an influencer.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I'm wondering, are they going to call him Fletch?
- 4:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought the name was pretty cute and he
- 4:36Speaker 2: is a gorgeous baby. I wonder if Ted as the
- 4:39Speaker 2: middle name is from Ted Lasso because I feel like
- 4:41Speaker 2: that name is getting a resurgence.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Our family's cat is called Teddy after Ted Lasso.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Now in the announcement post, Jade took the opportunity to
- 4:49Speaker 2: thank the midwives who helped bring Fletcher into the world.
- 4:52Speaker 2: And she also added that Fletcher's favorite activities include snuggling
- 4:56Speaker 2: with his dad, eating with mom and having his nails
- 4:59Speaker 2: done at the milk salon. And this was backed up
- 5:01Speaker 2: with a photo of Lockie cutting his son's nails while
- 5:04Speaker 2: Jade was breastfeeding him. I didn't know until some of
- 5:07Speaker 2: my friends started having kids just how sharp baby's fingernails
- 5:11Speaker 2: are and the fact that you actually have to cut them.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I'm learning so many things.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:15Speaker 2: And there's been so many disasters I've heard of, of
- 5:17Speaker 2: some friends I know, who they've gone to cut the
- 5:20Speaker 2: baby's fingernails and they've just cut their finger because.
- 5:23Speaker 1: They're so tiny.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Now, influencers were out in force to congratulate Jade. Sofa
- 5:30Speaker 2: Dofa wrote, crying, so, so happy for you guys. Whilst
- 5:33Speaker 2: Tammy said, oh my goodness, he is so beautiful. Congratulations, guys.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And my favorite, Sammy Robinson wrote, bawling my eyes out.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I always find it.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Interesting when these influencers have huge life moments. or announcements
- 5:47Speaker 2: to see who their influencer friends are yeah sometimes you're
- 5:49Speaker 2: like I didn't pick them being friends no I think
- 5:52Speaker 2: sometimes though influencers or well-known people will drop into the
- 5:56Speaker 2: comments and it's more of like an ass kissing exercise
- 5:59Speaker 2: that you can tell that they're not actually friends but it's.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Like please notice me like I want to be friends
- 6:04Speaker 1: I don't know if it's that but I think that's
- 6:05Speaker 1: just day-to-day life.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Like for normal people sharing on Instagram like you know,
- 6:10Speaker 2: when your birthday rolls around, it's almost the weirdest assortment
- 6:13Speaker 2: of people who wish.
- 6:14Speaker 1: You a happy birthday.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Even, yeah, it's those milestone posts on Instagram, like when
- 6:18Speaker 2: you get married or you get engaged or you have
- 6:20Speaker 2: a child. And what I always think is, oh, so
- 6:23Speaker 2: you guys can see my other content I'm sharing, but
- 6:25Speaker 2: you're choosing not to engage.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Hello, guys. So we are off on a family holiday
- 6:31Speaker 3: up to the Northern Territory and our flight is tonight.
- 6:35Speaker 1: So I am just getting ready to head off.
- 6:39Speaker 2: After nine years together, Gold Coast influencers Chloe Zepp and
- 6:43Speaker 2: Mitchell Orville are officially engaged. Whilst on a family getaway
- 6:47Speaker 2: in the Northern Territory, Mitch popped the question on a beach. Now, Soph,
- 6:51Speaker 2: do you think Chloe had an inkling this was going
- 6:53Speaker 2: to happen? Because they have been together for such a
- 6:56Speaker 2: long time now. Look, she surely knew it was going
- 6:58Speaker 2: to happen at some stage because they have been together
- 7:01Speaker 2: since she was 16 years old and Mitchell was 18.
- 7:05Speaker 2: They actually met through Instagram with Chloe admitting that she
- 7:08Speaker 2: was spamming Mitch's photos so that he would notice her.
- 7:12Speaker 2: And at the time, he had quite a profile because
- 7:14Speaker 2: he had launched his YouTube series, Angry Dad, and it
- 7:18Speaker 2: was exploding in popularity. I remember just how popular he
- 7:21Speaker 2: was because he was even going to clubs and doing
- 7:24Speaker 2: meet and greets. Yeah, there were so many little girls,
- 7:26Speaker 2: I think, or teenage girls who had a crush on him.
- 7:29Speaker 2: It wasn't long until they started chatting. Mitch slid into
- 7:32Speaker 2: her DMs and they randomly crossed paths at an airport.
- 7:36Speaker 2: And from that time on, they were pretty much inseparable.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Teenage Chloe, she lived with her parents on the Gold Coast,
- 7:42Speaker 2: but she quickly uprooted her whole life to move to
- 7:45Speaker 2: Melbourne with Mitch and his family. When I saw the
- 7:48Speaker 2: engagement announcement, I couldn't help but think back to that
- 7:51Speaker 2: time that they split up.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And I've always wondered, is it super awkward?
- 7:56Speaker 2: Because I've known of different friends who've had this happen
- 7:59Speaker 2: where they've broken up for a year or two, got
- 8:01Speaker 2: back together and then everyone's kind of at the wedding
- 8:04Speaker 2: and everyone feels a bit awkward because their whole story
- 8:06Speaker 2: is being told, but no one ever knows whether to
- 8:08Speaker 2: reference the breakup. Yeah. I have been to a wedding
- 8:11Speaker 2: like that and the couple are like, oh yeah, we've
- 8:13Speaker 2: been together for six years.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And you're like, well, do you deduct the year that
- 8:17Speaker 1: you broke up?
- 8:19Speaker 2: Like it would be very awkward, particularly having this Well,
- 8:22Speaker 2: it wasn't a breakup video as such. For those who
- 8:24Speaker 2: haven't seen it, it was a video where they explained
- 8:27Speaker 2: that they were moving.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Out from one another.
- 8:29Speaker 2: And it was after Chloe went to the US and
- 8:32Speaker 2: broke up with Mitch while she was there. But then
- 8:34Speaker 2: when she returned, they had a proper discussion and thought, look,
- 8:38Speaker 2: we still want to be together, but we don't want
- 8:39Speaker 2: to be living like this married couple. And that was
- 8:41Speaker 2: three years into their relationship. And not long after, they
- 8:46Speaker 2: then seemed to fall madly back in love. And then
- 8:50Speaker 2: announced that they were pregnant. Well, if you think about
- 8:52Speaker 2: the life they were living when they broke up initially,
- 8:55Speaker 2: it was a very different one. I mean, this was
- 8:57Speaker 2: before Mitch had come out and spoken about his sobriety
- 9:00Speaker 2: and his issues with drugs.
- 9:01Speaker 1: So I think.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Clearly there was a lot going on in this relationship.
- 9:05Speaker 2: I mean, even looking at them now, they've turned to God.
- 9:08Speaker 2: They are completely different people than they were back then.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I'm guessing that this proposal has taken place now because
- 9:16Speaker 2: Mitch and Chloe are very much ingrained in the church.
- 9:19Speaker 2: And being around that community, I wonder if there was
- 9:21Speaker 2: pressure on them to, you know, somewhat make it official.
- 9:24Speaker 2: They do have two kids together. The proposal video itself
- 9:27Speaker 2: was really cute. And you could tell that Chloe was
- 9:29Speaker 2: genuinely surprised. I really liked it because their son Artie
- 9:33Speaker 2: was involved. So he was just watching on as it
- 9:35Speaker 2: all unfolded. So Chloe and Mitch were enjoying a drink
- 9:38Speaker 2: and then he just suddenly got down on one knee. Yeah,
- 9:41Speaker 2: she did this little cute excited jump that I feel
- 9:44Speaker 2: like a lot of people do when they get engaged.
- 9:46Speaker 1: So it did look quite genuine. Have you heard people.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Saying that they think that they've released this video to
- 9:52Speaker 2: take the heat off all of that tiny truck tribe
- 9:55Speaker 2: stuff going on? I can see where people are coming
- 9:57Speaker 2: from with that theory. But in this instance, I think
- 10:00Speaker 2: it is just a coincidence. I don't think he's going
- 10:02Speaker 2: out there thinking, let's get a ring quickly. We'll do
- 10:04Speaker 2: it now so we can not get this heat. I'm
- 10:07Speaker 2: sure the company that have brought Mitch and Chloe over
- 10:09Speaker 2: to the Northern Territory are pretty happy with this engagement
- 10:12Speaker 2: because the place where he got down on one knee
- 10:15Speaker 2: looks absolutely beautiful. So he shared the video of the
- 10:17Speaker 2: proposal writing, We're getting married, special place forever. And he
- 10:21Speaker 2: tagged the name of the tour company.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Yeah, this tour company was tagged everywhere.
- 10:26Speaker 2: In every single Instagram story they uploaded, we saw the
- 10:30Speaker 2: name of this company.
- 10:31Speaker 1: However, they didn't seem to be able.
- 10:33Speaker 2: To find the gifted or paid promotion tool, which I
- 10:36Speaker 2: assume is what this is. I mean, we've recently seen
- 10:39Speaker 2: Steph Clare Smith go on a all expenses paid trip
- 10:43Speaker 2: to Fiji with Luxury Escapes. except she has actually had
- 10:47Speaker 2: the decency to.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Write hashtag gifted trip.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I was really surprised to discover that there was no
- 10:54Speaker 2: sponsorship deal with this engagement ring.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Just this Northern Territory company.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah, there was too much going on. Maybe they specified
- 11:00Speaker 2: that there couldn't be too many brands involved. So Mitch
- 11:03Speaker 2: shared on his Instagram story that their holiday got brought
- 11:06Speaker 2: forward by 12 days, which really wreaked havoc on the
- 11:09Speaker 2: ring prep. So He had sourced a stone, but he
- 11:12Speaker 2: was getting a jeweler called Drip City to make it
- 11:15Speaker 2: into a ring for him. I did have a bit
- 11:17Speaker 2: of a stalk and it looks like your stereotypical Gold
- 11:21Speaker 2: Coast jeweler.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I was actually quite surprised.
- 11:24Speaker 2: It was very tacky. And the stone apparently only arrived
- 11:28Speaker 2: on Friday. But they were set to leave on their
- 11:30Speaker 2: holiday on Tuesday, so there wasn't much time for them
- 11:33Speaker 2: to get this ring together. Mitch wrote on Instagram, the
- 11:36Speaker 2: most stressful week. Just wanted to say a huge thank
- 11:39Speaker 2: you to Drip City Jeweler for bending over backwards to
- 11:41Speaker 2: get it done in time.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Wait, are you sure this isn't sponsored? Let me finish.
- 11:45Speaker 2: He said, couldn't have asked for a better experience. Extremely grateful,
- 11:48Speaker 2: not sponsored, just appreciative. So he did point out it
- 11:51Speaker 2: is not sponsored. Well, normally it is a better option
- 11:53Speaker 2: to actually get the diamond brought in from somewhere else
- 11:56Speaker 2: because often it's cheaper and you get a better quality diamond.
- 11:59Speaker 1: But this just sounds so stressful.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:02Speaker 2: I was really happy also to see that this diamond
- 12:05Speaker 2: wasn't an oval diamond. It seems to be the only
- 12:08Speaker 2: ring that we're seeing influencers and celebrities get. So this
- 12:10Speaker 2: was actually a large rectangular diamond with a white gold band.
- 12:15Speaker 2: And Mitch has specifically designed the ring with a diamond
- 12:18Speaker 2: crucifix built into.
- 12:20Speaker 1: The side of it.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Well, to me, that indicates that obviously marriage is more
- 12:24Speaker 2: of a priority to him now that he is involved
- 12:26Speaker 2: in the church. He shared a close-up of the cross
- 12:29Speaker 2: on Instagram, writing, Jesus's cross is holding the stone together.
- 12:33Speaker 2: He then went on to provide what he says is
- 12:36Speaker 2: an interesting stat. So he wrote, one in two couples
- 12:39Speaker 2: statistically get a divorce in today's society. One in 1,500
- 12:44Speaker 2: couples who pray together end in divorce. Those who pray
- 12:47Speaker 2: together stay together. Now, I'm guessing if that stat is true,
- 12:51Speaker 2: it is due to the fact that strict religions forbid divorce. So,
- 12:56Speaker 2: I mean, many people who probably should get a divorce
- 12:59Speaker 2: and want to get a divorce can't because it goes
- 13:02Speaker 2: against their religion.
- 13:02Speaker 1: So I don't know if I would be preaching that stat.
- 13:04Speaker 2: He really has become a poster child for the church.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I keep seeing on TikTok these clips from a podcast
- 13:11Speaker 2: called Church Gal Podcast, which he was recently on.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I can't say that's on my rotation.
- 13:15Speaker 2: No, but he was really getting into talking about his
- 13:19Speaker 2: beliefs and he was saying how Chloe has just, it's
- 13:22Speaker 2: blown his mind how into Bible reading she is. And
- 13:25Speaker 2: it's just, as I said, it's just such a different
- 13:28Speaker 2: life that they are now living. If you think back
- 13:30Speaker 2: to when they first were sharing a lot about their
- 13:32Speaker 2: lives online in Melbourne, like they were staying up late,
- 13:36Speaker 2: Eating KFC, like I'm not, I mean, it's probably better
- 13:39Speaker 2: what they're doing now. In saying that, Chloe was always
- 13:42Speaker 2: very spiritual. So it does make sense for her to
- 13:45Speaker 2: then fall into this. Now, the Blue Tick Brigade were
- 13:48Speaker 2: out in force to congratulate the couple. Former best friend,
- 13:52Speaker 2: Sharni Grimman, wrote, congratulations to you both, so magical. While
- 13:56Speaker 2: Sophie Keisha wrote, wow, congratulations, beautiful humans, love this so much.
- 14:02Speaker 2: What does that just remind me of South Park? Megan
- 14:06Speaker 2: Markle and Harry.
- 14:07Speaker 1: My book.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Mitch Orville's mom, Sharon, she did give a bit of
- 14:12Speaker 2: an insight into the fact that the family were finally
- 14:15Speaker 2: relieved that this engagement has taken place.
- 14:18Speaker 1: She wrote, couldn't be happier. Best news.
- 14:20Speaker 2: And we have waited a long time for it. Definitely
- 14:22Speaker 2: worth the 3am FaceTime call. Blessings and love to you always.
- 14:26Speaker 2: So do we think they're going to get married in.
- 14:28Speaker 3: A church then? Oh, 100%.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I will be putting money on it at this stage.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Well, while this proposal provided some very wholesome content, it
- 14:36Speaker 2: wasn't long before a controversy struck. As we mentioned, Mitch
- 14:41Speaker 2: and Chloe are on what looks like a sponsored trip
- 14:43Speaker 2: to the Northern Territory and it hasn't been good PR
- 14:46Speaker 2: for the retreat itself. So Mitch Orville decided to share
- 14:50Speaker 2: a video of his son playing very close to a
- 14:53Speaker 2: saltwater crocodile.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I couldn't believe it when I saw his Instagram story.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I was half asleep when I clicked on this and
- 15:00Speaker 2: I was like, holy fuck, is that a crocodile? Because
- 15:04Speaker 2: in the video, which he posted to his Instagram story,
- 15:07Speaker 2: Mitch is seen walking hand in hand with his small
- 15:09Speaker 2: son and he proceeds to pan to a crocodile, which
- 15:13Speaker 2: is looming in the water, just meters from them.
- 15:16Speaker 1: And over the video, he wrote on the beach of
- 15:19Speaker 1: the retreat.
- 15:20Speaker 3: What?
- 15:20Speaker 2: So there was no actual mention to how close this
- 15:23Speaker 2: crocodile was. It's like, oh, this is just you know,
- 15:25Speaker 2: it's so normal. We're just walking along the beach and there's.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Just a friendly crocodile. Oh, it literally looked.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Like this crocodile was sizing up his son and getting
- 15:34Speaker 2: ready to attack.
- 15:35Speaker 1: And I just think the.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Stupidity to take your child that close to a dangerous animal,
- 15:41Speaker 2: it just.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I just can't get over it.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I mean, and he was also taking the time to
- 15:45Speaker 2: whip his phone out and film this. It's not like
- 15:47Speaker 2: he's concentrating on the situation and making sure if the
- 15:51Speaker 2: crocodile does come out of the water, that he can
- 15:53Speaker 2: quickly pull him to safety or anything like that. Well,
- 15:55Speaker 2: if you've ever seen a wildlife show on TV or
- 15:58Speaker 2: in person, you know just how fast a crocodile moves. Yeah, well,
- 16:02Speaker 2: prior to this post, Mitch shared a photo cuddling up
- 16:05Speaker 2: to his son and wrote off to see some huge croc.
- 16:08Speaker 2: So to me, it's clear he intentionally took his son
- 16:12Speaker 2: to see them and they were just innocently walking across
- 16:15Speaker 2: this beach and a random croc came up to them.
- 16:17Speaker 2: That being said, this island, That being said, this island
- 16:23Speaker 2: is full of crocodiles because the next day Mitch also
- 16:25Speaker 2: posted a video of the family driving along a dirt
- 16:29Speaker 2: road with two enormous crocodiles blocking their path.
- 16:32Speaker 1: And then in another video, their son.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Artie is shown just casually posing with a snake around
- 16:37Speaker 2: his neck.
- 16:38Speaker 1: I mean, it clearly was one of those shows or whatever. Yeah,
- 16:41Speaker 1: but the beach wasn't. This does not sound like a
- 16:43Speaker 1: place that I would want to venture to. No, and
- 16:46Speaker 1: particularly when you have young children.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Perth now have been reporting on this story and they
- 16:50Speaker 2: have been reporting that the Tiwi Council has been warning
- 16:54Speaker 2: visitors about croc attacks. So they said crocodiles are common
- 16:58Speaker 2: on the Tiwi Islands. You must always assume that saltwater
- 17:01Speaker 2: crocodiles are present in any water. Don't become complacent. Crocodile
- 17:06Speaker 2: danger is real and attacks can be fatal. Saltwater crocodiles
- 17:10Speaker 2: can attack people in boats and the smaller the boat,
- 17:13Speaker 2: the greater the risk. So it is quite clear that
- 17:17Speaker 2: these crocodiles do pose a risk to tourists there. And
- 17:21Speaker 2: despite the fact that I'm sure the people that they're
- 17:23Speaker 2: staying with or the company they're staying with are pretty
- 17:25Speaker 2: chilled about it and.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Saying, oh, don't worry too much. But this is a
- 17:29Speaker 1: very dangerous situation.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Well, a number of listeners in our Facebook group shared
- 17:33Speaker 2: their personal experience at Tiwi Island. So Elle wrote, it
- 17:37Speaker 2: is kind of a different world to be honest. Crocodiles
- 17:39Speaker 2: are always in front of the retreat. You'll be eating
- 17:42Speaker 2: your brekkie or having a swim in the pool and
- 17:44Speaker 2: the water's edge will only be 50 meters away and
- 17:47Speaker 2: you'll see a few crocodiles at a time usually. I
- 17:50Speaker 2: definitely didn't walk along the water's edge myself, but I
- 17:53Speaker 2: suppose what I'm saying is in that world, I can
- 17:55Speaker 2: see how they would feel safe enough to do so.
- 17:58Speaker 2: after being there myself and having the staff so reassuring
- 18:01Speaker 2: and comfortable with the crocodiles. Another listener called Cassie said,
- 18:05Speaker 2: I lived in the territory for 20 years. I've been
- 18:08Speaker 2: on a million croc tours. The crocs out at Tiwi
- 18:11Speaker 2: are massive. I could legit be a croc wrangler at
- 18:13Speaker 2: this point.
- 18:14Speaker 1: This is way too close. Also the fact that croc
- 18:17Speaker 1: looks young, it would be faster than predicted.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Now this trip, definitely is ending on a low because
- 18:24Speaker 2: Mitch and Chloe are also stranded in the Northern Territory.
- 18:28Speaker 2: So on Wednesday, they arrived at the airport with Mitch
- 18:32Speaker 2: showing photos of his kids weighing themselves on the luggage machines.
- 18:35Speaker 2: But their fun time didn't last long because it was
- 18:38Speaker 2: followed up with a photo of Sonny with the caption,
- 18:41Speaker 2: flight cancelled 12.15pm delayed to 6pm then cancelled at 5pm.
- 18:46Speaker 2: He tagged Virgin Australia and said, you owe us a
- 18:49Speaker 2: babysitter and a night out. Now, he followed this up
- 18:53Speaker 2: on Thursday with another post writing, nah, what the fuck,
- 18:56Speaker 2: Virgin Australia cancelled our flight yesterday and said the latest
- 18:59Speaker 2: they can get us on another flight is Saturday.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Is this a joke or am I tripping? The flight
- 19:05Speaker 1: was Wednesday.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Not good PR for Virgin Australia here because he also
- 19:09Speaker 2: followed it up by sharing that his inbox was full
- 19:12Speaker 2: of followers saying never fly Virgin out of Darwin. Also, again,
- 19:16Speaker 2: not really great publicity for the Tiwi Islands.
- 19:19Speaker 4: No.
- 19:20Speaker 1: No, not at all.
- 19:21Speaker 2: So you might be able to get engaged over there
- 19:22Speaker 2: on a beautiful beach, but you could lose one of
- 19:25Speaker 2: your kids in the process from a croc and then
- 19:26Speaker 2: you're not able to fly out of the destination.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I mean, a bit of a rough review there. I'm
- 19:32Speaker 1: sure it's beautiful, but gosh, everyone gives Adelaide a bad rap.
- 19:36Speaker 4: So a recent video of mine seems to have upset
- 19:41Speaker 4: members of a certain community.
- 19:42Speaker 2: A self-proclaimed trad wife has lost her marketing job after
- 19:47Speaker 2: making headlines for using the N-word in a viral TikTok video.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Lily Gaddis shared a video of her cooking in her
- 19:53Speaker 2: kitchen whilst decked out in an apron and small crucifix
- 19:57Speaker 2: around her neck. Now in the TikTok, Lily discussed her
- 20:00Speaker 2: views on women being labeled gold diggers.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Let's have a listen.
- 20:05Speaker 4: I'm sick and tired of all girls getting blamed for
- 20:09Speaker 4: or like guys, certain guys, thinking that all girls are
- 20:12Speaker 4: gold diggers. I don't know if it's because you get
- 20:16Speaker 4: your information from those street interviews in like Miami at
- 20:20Speaker 4: 3 a.m. outside of a nightclub. You're getting the opinion
- 20:23Speaker 4: of some dumb whores and immigrants fresh off the boat
- 20:27Speaker 4: looking for a green card. Yes, they are probably gold diggers,
- 20:32Speaker 4: but that's the exception. I'm the rule. Everybody I know
- 20:35Speaker 4: who's married right now, they're married to broke ass. And
- 20:39Speaker 4: they don't care. We don't give a f * * *
- 20:41Speaker 4: about money.
- 20:42Speaker 2: It's definitely very jarring to hear that, particularly because I
- 20:46Speaker 2: thought that we'd moved to a place where people don't
- 20:49Speaker 2: speak like this online anymore. Yeah, well, the video received
- 20:52Speaker 2: immediate backlash online and people were calling to cancel Lily.
- 20:57Speaker 2: And I think what shocked most people was just how
- 21:00Speaker 2: easily the N-word rolled off her tongue. And it led
- 21:03Speaker 2: many people to think, well, obviously she uses this word often.
- 21:07Speaker 2: I'm also confused how this woman is marketing herself as
- 21:11Speaker 2: a trad wife, yet she has a job in marketing
- 21:14Speaker 2: that she's subsequently been fired from.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I found that weird too.
- 21:18Speaker 2: So she does put up a lot of trad wife
- 21:20Speaker 2: content of her cooking in the kitchen, but she said
- 21:23Speaker 2: she more views herself as a traditional wife in the
- 21:25Speaker 2: sense that she does like to cook and look after
- 21:27Speaker 2: her man and she has traditional views, but she have
- 21:30Speaker 2: a part-time job until posting this video so she's a
- 21:33Speaker 2: wannabe trad wife well apparently maybe that's why she's made
- 21:36Speaker 2: these offensive comments so she can get rid of her
- 21:38Speaker 2: job who knows well the most bizarre thing about this
- 21:42Speaker 2: whole saga is everyone was expecting lily to release one
- 21:46Speaker 2: of those typical influencer style apology videos talking about doing
- 21:51Speaker 2: better and educating herself however this is what lily had
- 21:55Speaker 2: to say.
- 21:55Speaker 4: So a recent video of mine seems to have um
- 22:00Speaker 4: upset members of a certain community. And all the backlash
- 22:05Speaker 4: just really made me, you know, just really do a
- 22:08Speaker 4: deep dive, like do a soul search. And after all that,
- 22:12Speaker 4: I still couldn't find a care.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I don't know what to say about that. It's just
- 22:17Speaker 1: so disrespectful.
- 22:18Speaker 2: And she's just giving a clear F you to anyone
- 22:21Speaker 2: who was offended by that. I just hate it because
- 22:24Speaker 2: it's clear that she's trying to be purposely confrontational and
- 22:28Speaker 2: she's wanting to appeal to this right-wing market that we
- 22:31Speaker 2: are seeing emerge on TikTok at the moment.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Well, from what I've.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Read about her since, it almost sounds like she went
- 22:37Speaker 2: out of her way to make one of her offensive
- 22:40Speaker 2: videos go viral. And now she's ultimately got what she wanted. Well,
- 22:44Speaker 2: it gets even worse because after her non-apology, Lily then
- 22:48Speaker 2: argued that her First Amendment rights were under attack, posting,
- 22:53Speaker 2: if my freedom of speech is taken, they'll be coming
- 22:56Speaker 2: for yours next. She followed up by sarcastically thanking the
- 23:00Speaker 2: black community, writing, thanks black community for helping to launch
- 23:03Speaker 2: my new career in conservative media. You all played your
- 23:07Speaker 2: role well, like the puppets you are.
- 23:09Speaker 1: It makes me so mad.
- 23:11Speaker 2: And the most disturbing thing is since this story has
- 23:14Speaker 2: gone viral, she has gained over 60,000 followers on X.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Doesn't that say a lot about the demographic that is
- 23:22Speaker 2: on X?
- 23:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Well, she's deleted the TikTok. So the TikTok's gone. Now
- 23:25Speaker 1: she's focusing all of her attention on the toxic people
- 23:28Speaker 1: on X.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Well, that just speaks volumes because it's clear that TikTok
- 23:33Speaker 2: and its younger community on there would have been appalled.
- 23:36Speaker 1: By the comments that she was making.
- 23:38Speaker 2: That's why she's had to either, either she has been
- 23:40Speaker 2: banned from there or she's chosen to get off the platform. But,
- 23:44Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, it does speak volumes about the conversations
- 23:47Speaker 2: that are taking place on Twitter. And it just shows
- 23:49Speaker 2: you that any time someone says, oh, this person's been cancelled, blah, blah, blah,
- 23:52Speaker 2: like she's obviously been cancelled on TikTok, but then she's
- 23:55Speaker 2: being applauded on X. And it shows that this notion
- 23:58Speaker 2: of being cancelled is just bullshit.
- 24:01Speaker 5: I go, reserve the table at a food court. We're
- 24:03Speaker 5: literally in a winter garden.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Aussie TikToker Chloe Baradinsky has sparked a bait around food
- 24:10Speaker 2: court etiquette After getting into a stash with a 50-year-old
- 24:14Speaker 2: man over a table.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Let's have a listen.
- 24:18Speaker 5: Guys, who is in the wrong here, okay? So it
- 24:20Speaker 5: is peak lunchtime at the food court. Like no tables free,
- 24:24Speaker 5: absolutely packed. No, I've left on a table here, right?
- 24:27Speaker 5: And I was like, oh, maybe someone's just left it.
- 24:29Speaker 5: I left it as is because I was like, he'll
- 24:31Speaker 5: probably come back and collect it once he realises. He
- 24:33Speaker 5: came back with his food and was so rude.
- 24:35Speaker 1: He's like, I've reserved this table.
- 24:37Speaker 5: I go, reserve the table at a food court?
- 24:39Speaker 4: We're literally.
- 24:40Speaker 5: Winter garden. A food court.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I was like, I'm sorry, you can't reserve tables.
- 24:44Speaker 5: He was like, well, I put my notepad here to
- 24:47Speaker 5: go and order my food and I've come back. And
- 24:48Speaker 5: now you're sitting here. I go, yeah, it's a food court.
- 24:51Speaker 1: He's like, what, are these your rules?
- 24:53Speaker 5: I was like, are they your rules? And he was like,
- 24:57Speaker 5: 50-year-old man, so rude.
- 24:58Speaker 1: He was so, so rude to me. And I was like,
- 25:01Speaker 1: you can sit here if you want.
- 25:02Speaker 5: I don't mind.
- 25:03Speaker 1: You can sit on the other side. He's like, I
- 25:04Speaker 1: don't want to sit with you.
- 25:06Speaker 5: And I was like, okay, well, I guess you have
- 25:07Speaker 5: to find a new table then.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Now, Outspoken Facebook community members requested our opinions on this.
- 25:14Speaker 1: What are the food court rules, Soph? Look, I have
- 25:17Speaker 1: to agree with Chloe here.
- 25:19Speaker 2: If I was at a food court and I saw
- 25:22Speaker 2: a old notepad on the table, I would not think
- 25:26Speaker 2: that this was someone's way of barzing a table.
- 25:30Speaker 1: It kind of reminds me of when.
- 25:32Speaker 2: You go on holiday to a resort and people use
- 25:36Speaker 2: towels to barze tables, as in I think that a
- 25:39Speaker 2: towel is a recognizable way that someone is barzing that spot. However,
- 25:44Speaker 2: if I was to see a notepad, I would just
- 25:47Speaker 2: assume that someone had left that behind. If someone maybe
- 25:50Speaker 2: left their keys and their phone on the table, maybe
- 25:54Speaker 2: I'd think, oh, okay, someone has been sitting here or
- 25:57Speaker 2: a jacket or something. Yeah, I was going to say
- 25:58Speaker 2: a jacket. There has to be some big item. But
- 26:00Speaker 2: the fact is you're not like in food court etiquette rules.
- 26:04Speaker 1: That's not allowed.
- 26:05Speaker 2: The only time you can actually reserve a table is
- 26:08Speaker 2: if you have a friend awkwardly sitting there, like you're
- 26:11Speaker 2: off trying to get their food. You can't reserve a table,
- 26:14Speaker 2: especially in the, you know, the chaotic lunch period.
- 26:17Speaker 1: It's just rude.
- 26:19Speaker 2: It reminds me of when you're at a cafe or
- 26:21Speaker 2: a restaurant and all of the tables are packed and
- 26:24Speaker 2: there's like a few of you waiting around to get
- 26:27Speaker 2: the first available table and there's that awkward sort of
- 26:30Speaker 2: run that you do in order to get it.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I don't know why that just reminded me, but.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I know one of our friends, her mum has a
- 26:36Speaker 2: tactic where if it's packed and she's waiting for a table,
- 26:40Speaker 2: she will awkwardly stand there over people like who are
- 26:43Speaker 2: eating to make sure they feel uncomfortable.
- 26:45Speaker 1: So they'll leave.
- 26:47Speaker 2: I think that you have to be over 40 in
- 26:49Speaker 2: order to get away with doing that.
- 26:51Speaker 1: I remember recently we went to Yochi and we secured
- 26:55Speaker 1: our table.
- 26:55Speaker 2: It wasn't like there was a massive lineup. It wasn't
- 26:57Speaker 2: at a chaotic time. And I think there were about
- 27:00Speaker 2: four of us and we all wanted to go up
- 27:02Speaker 2: and get our Yochi at the same time. So we
- 27:04Speaker 2: were like, oh, let's just leave keys on the table.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Like that's obviously a sign that we're taking it. Now
- 27:09Speaker 2: we're sounding like this 50-year-old man. But anyway, I think
- 27:12Speaker 2: it was acceptable at Yochi. So we got up and
- 27:15Speaker 2: we returned to the table and my keys were gone.
- 27:19Speaker 2: And I was like, holy fuck, like someone's stolen my keys. Like, oh,
- 27:22Speaker 2: my God, I'm going to go back to my car
- 27:23Speaker 2: and it's going to be gone. What had happened is
- 27:25Speaker 2: one of the concerned Gen Zers who was dining there
- 27:28Speaker 2: had thought that someone had left them behind. They didn't
- 27:31Speaker 2: realise that that was the universal sign that you were barsing.
- 27:33Speaker 1: A table and they had given them to the staff.
- 27:36Speaker 2: So maybe what we are witnessing here is generational confusion.
- 27:40Speaker 2: So in this instance, it's a 50-year-old man who thinks
- 27:43Speaker 2: it's acceptable to bars a table with a notepad on.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Maybe that was the dumb thing back in the day.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Like, you know how we're thinking like, how the fuck
- 27:50Speaker 2: can these Gen Zers not realize that we're barzing the
- 27:52Speaker 2: table with our keys, our item, our property. The thing
- 27:55Speaker 2: with the notepad is that I think he left it
- 27:58Speaker 2: there because if someone stole it, it wouldn't be that
- 28:00Speaker 2: big of a deal. If you left your phone and
- 28:01Speaker 2: keys there, it might be a different story. Also, I mean,
- 28:05Speaker 2: my issue with the way that this man has handled
- 28:09Speaker 2: the situation is that Chloe has said, hey, feel free
- 28:12Speaker 2: to sit down. Like she's being quite polite, probably a
- 28:14Speaker 2: bit half apologetic, sorry, I didn't realise you were here.
- 28:17Speaker 2: And he's come back with saying, you know, it's obvious
- 28:20Speaker 2: that I was barzing this table.
- 28:22Speaker 1: I don't want to sit with you.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I mean, why would she want to sit with this
- 28:25Speaker 2: guy anyway? I actually love that she had the nerve
- 28:28Speaker 2: to say that. Well, just sit with me. The fact
- 28:30Speaker 2: he was like, I don't want to sit with you.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Oh, isn't that the worst though?
- 28:35Speaker 2: When you're at those trendy cafes and they've got those
- 28:37Speaker 2: like large tables, the shared seating, you're like sitting there
- 28:40Speaker 2: with friends and then people sit directly next to you.
- 28:43Speaker 2: And you're like, well, I'm kind of trying to have
- 28:44Speaker 2: a private conversation that happened to us recently.
- 28:48Speaker 1: And this group of dads sat down with us and
- 28:50Speaker 1: they had kids. And I could tell that like, we
- 28:52Speaker 1: were still having our quite large inappropriate conversation.
- 28:56Speaker 2: And you could tell that the dads were like, holy fuck,
- 28:58Speaker 2: we should not be sitting here.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Well, it wasn't that it was inappropriate for the kids
- 29:02Speaker 1: to hear.
- 29:02Speaker 2: But sometimes I think, you know, when you have a
- 29:04Speaker 2: really good catch up with friends and you think, Farrah,
- 29:07Speaker 2: what we're saying is pretty entertaining.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Like some of the gossip that we're talking about. So
- 29:11Speaker 1: you're thinking that they're lucky to be listening. Yeah, sometimes
- 29:13Speaker 1: I think that. Sometimes I'm like.
- 29:15Speaker 2: You know, sometimes when you get sat next to an
- 29:17Speaker 2: elderly couple or not elderly, like a couple that's been
- 29:20Speaker 2: married for say 20 years and you can tell they've
- 29:23Speaker 2: just run out of conversation. They're in that phase where
- 29:25Speaker 2: they're just comfortable sitting in silence, but you can tell
- 29:28Speaker 2: they're listening to every word of your conversation. I get
- 29:30Speaker 2: confused about that because I was going to say that
- 29:32Speaker 2: that's my personal nightmare to have nothing to talk about
- 29:34Speaker 2: with my partner. But then I also think that there's
- 29:36Speaker 2: this really nice comfort in just being able to sit
- 29:40Speaker 2: in silence, particularly when you are older and you've heard
- 29:43Speaker 2: each other's stories by then, like you're over it. You
- 29:45Speaker 2: probably do want to just people watch, have a bit
- 29:48Speaker 2: of a listen into the conversation.
- 29:50Speaker 1: We were out recently with a friend and some.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Of the topics that he was bringing to the conversation,
- 29:56Speaker 2: we were like, holy fuck, the table next to us,
- 29:58Speaker 2: they're highly entertaining.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Well, I think a lot of the.
- 30:00Speaker 2: People were confused about what the relationship was between, because
- 30:05Speaker 2: it was basically, it was a work friend of mine
- 30:07Speaker 2: who's in his late fifties.
- 30:09Speaker 1: And he was sitting with yourself, me and another friend
- 30:12Speaker 1: of ours. And I think people were like, is that
- 30:14Speaker 1: their dad? And then they heard that people thought he
- 30:16Speaker 1: was our sugar dad.
- 30:18Speaker 2: I have seen this trend on TikTok and it said
- 30:20Speaker 2: that it's really awkward when you go out with your
- 30:22Speaker 2: dad when you reach a particular age of adulthood because
- 30:25Speaker 2: you almost feel like having up a sign saying, this
- 30:27Speaker 2: is my dad, this is not my sugar dad. I
- 30:30Speaker 2: actually have never felt like that with my dad though.
- 30:32Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 30:32Speaker 2: I feel like there's enough of an age gap to
- 30:34Speaker 2: realise what's going on. Yeah, but I don't think I've
- 30:36Speaker 2: ever been out one-on-one with dad to a cafe either.
- 30:40Speaker 4: True.
- 30:40Speaker 1: That's actually a good point.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 1: But also, I mean, our friend, he doesn't really look
- 30:45Speaker 1: like our dad.
- 30:46Speaker 2: So, I mean, we have on many occasions been out
- 30:49Speaker 2: with him and people have been like, what is going
- 30:51Speaker 2: on here?
- 30:52Speaker 1: Are you their dad?
- 30:53Speaker 2: Then again, I remember, so we shared a photo of
- 30:55Speaker 2: my co-worker. He happened to be at one of our
- 30:58Speaker 2: white Christmas parties that we do every year. And somebody
- 31:00Speaker 2: messaged saying, oh my God, is that your dad? He's
- 31:03Speaker 2: a silver fox.
- 31:04Speaker 1: So, yeah.
- 31:05Speaker 2: He would love this at the moment. He's actually a
- 31:08Speaker 2: radio host. So, I mean, maybe we'll have to have
- 31:10Speaker 2: him on the show at some point. On that note,
- 31:12Speaker 2: I think that's all we have time for.
