Speaker 2: twenty twenty four. This year w SummerSlam Recap and Review
• 0:28
  Speaker 2: edition of ass R t Q. I am one aff
• 0:33
Speaker 2: the show. I Am Jeff Peking joined every single week
• 0:37
Speaker 2: from My coast on Only Not Trey Franklin, Doctor Trey
• 0:40
Speaker 2: Say Franklin is tearing up kindergarten. My friend.
• 0:44
  Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's it's a joyous and sad occasion for
• 0:48
Speaker 1: me because, uh, I'm really.
• 0:50
Speaker 3: Proud of my dude, Like, uh, no problem, No, Fear
• 0:54
Speaker 3: went right to school yesterday, first day of kindergarten. Backpack
• 0:59
Speaker 3: fully loaded down, Guess to school. Other kids are crying.
• 1:03
  Speaker 3: He's fine.
• 1:05
Speaker 1: Tears on dad's face. So this is this is day
• 1:08
Speaker 1: two as we record this, and everybody's gone. It's just
• 1:13
Speaker 1: me and the dog and the cats, and I'm bored.
• 1:17
Speaker 1: I miss my best friend.
• 1:18
Speaker 3: I'm like I was telling somebody yesterday, if you've ever
• 1:21
Speaker 3: seen Forrest Gump at the end of the movie, when
• 1:25
Speaker 3: when Forrest puts his son on the bus and the
• 1:28
Speaker 3: bus drives away and Forrest just stands there and waits
• 1:32
Speaker 3: for his kid to come home. That's kind of how
• 1:35
Speaker 3: I feel right now, Like my entire days, it's like,
• 1:38
Speaker 3: all right, when when when when a Samy get out
• 1:40
Speaker 3: of school? When do I gotta go pick him up?
• 1:42
Speaker 3: Because I got nothing else going on, recovering from surgery
• 1:45
Speaker 3: and stuff until he gets home.
• 1:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, this is uh, this is definitely probably a weird
• 1:50
Speaker 2: time for a parent, right, I mean, this is uh.
• 1:53
Speaker 2: I'm not there yet. I saw four years and eleven
• 1:59
Speaker 2: months maybe ten months until that happens. But yeah, I
• 2:02
Speaker 2: mean I saw the photos you posted online yesterday and
• 2:04
Speaker 2: I'm like, man, I can't imagine what he's going through today.
• 2:09
  Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's it's weird for me because although I
• 2:13
Speaker 3: have you know, I have my oldest Carmen, I have
• 2:16
  Speaker 3: my steps on.
• 2:18
Speaker 1: This is my first time doing this at forty seven
• 2:23
  Speaker 1: years old.
• 2:23
Speaker 3: So when my daughter started, when she started school, she
• 2:27
Speaker 3: was going through homeschooling, and my ex wife and I
• 2:30
Speaker 3: have separated. When I when I'm in my current wife,
• 2:33
Speaker 3: my stepson was already in second and third grade.
• 2:36
Speaker 1: So this is my first foray into this universe. And
• 2:40
Speaker 1: I thought I'd be like, that'd be cool cooler about
• 2:44
Speaker 1: it but uh no, Like we got to school and
• 2:48
Speaker 1: you can walk them to class. You can walk them
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: to the classroom.
• 2:51
Speaker 3: We sit there, there's some poor little boys sitting in
• 2:53
Speaker 3: front of the door crying because his mom and dad
• 2:56
  Speaker 3: had just left.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: And Sammy's just like look at him, like, what's up
• 3:00
Speaker 1: with you? Man? Like why are you crying? And Mom
• 3:04
Speaker 1: and I are there and Mom kneels down. I'mm a
• 3:07
Speaker 1: hugget a kiss, and the teacher goes, hey, do you
• 3:10
Speaker 1: guys want to get a picture? Before you know? He
• 3:12
Speaker 1: goes in the classroom and we look over and Sammy like, hey, man,
• 3:15
Speaker 1: you want to get picture. He's like, nope, I'm good.
• 3:18
Speaker 1: Wow walked into class and I was like all right.
• 3:22
Speaker 3: And so Mom and I both as we were walking
• 3:24
Speaker 3: out through tears coming to her eyes, and uh yeah.
• 3:28
Speaker 3: It's very emotional because for both of us, this is
• 3:30
Speaker 3: the last kid we're going to have that goes to kindergarten.
• 3:33
Speaker 1: And we got in the car to leave, and I
• 3:34
Speaker 1: looked at I said, well, this is the last one
• 3:37
Speaker 1: for us, but guess what's gonna happen. She goes what
• 3:38
Speaker 1: I said, when the grandkids come, I'm doing this again
• 3:41
  Speaker 1: with the grandkids.
• 3:43
  Speaker 3: So I don't I don't know where they're going to
• 3:44
Speaker 3: be at, but I'm gonna be there for first day
• 3:47
Speaker 3: of kindergarten for the grand kid.
• 3:48
Speaker 2: So to tie it all line of professional wrestling in
• 3:51
Speaker 2: summer Stam weekend, was your reaction of sadness one that
• 3:55
Speaker 2: was more Rhea Ripley or more Damian Priest.
• 3:59
Speaker 1: Oh that's ooh, well, see Dami was more betrayal. They're
• 4:06
Speaker 1: both betrayal. So I don't know if they really tie
• 4:09
Speaker 1: into it. It's more like.
• 4:11
Speaker 2: Did your Mascar run like like Rhea a little bit?
• 4:15
Speaker 3: To me, it would be more like, you know, when
• 4:18
Speaker 3: Ray and Dominic had their first tag match at WrestleMania,
• 4:22
Speaker 3: feeling like Ray like, look at where my kids at.
• 4:25
Speaker 3: How proud you would be like that kind of moment,
• 4:30
Speaker 3: just choked up, just super happy and proud of seeing
• 4:33
Speaker 3: Then when you get a note from the teacher every
• 4:36
Speaker 3: day one they're like, Sammy Franklin is such a sweetheart,
• 4:39
Speaker 3: can't wait to see how much he grows this year.
• 4:42
Speaker 3: And I took that more mental growth in our physical growth,
• 4:45
Speaker 3: because Lord knows, I don't need to get other kids
• 4:47
Speaker 3: older than me. Like just makes you really proud to
• 4:51
Speaker 3: be thinking like, Okay, I've created a really good.
• 4:53
  Speaker 1: Person so far.
• 4:55
Speaker 2: Interesting you you tied it back to a very good
• 4:59
Speaker 2: professional arrest lane analogy there. I like the team match
• 5:03
Speaker 2: from WrestleMania. It's you and Sammy and your jackets, paying
• 5:08
Speaker 2: homage to Eddie Guerrero and his former tag team partner
• 5:13
Speaker 2: and doing the damn thing for the first day of kindergarten.
• 5:16
Speaker 3: So I'm sure at some point we will have a
• 5:21
Speaker 3: custody of Sammy Franklin ladder match at some point in
• 5:24
Speaker 3: my wrestling career. So and that's Summer flam.
• 5:27
  Speaker 1: Esque as well.
• 5:27
Speaker 2: There you go, There you go, all tied in there,
• 5:29
Speaker 2: doctor Trey dropping his son off, young Sammy Franklin, our
• 5:34
Speaker 2: Royal Rumble analysts. He's like our Melchiper junior to the
• 5:40
Speaker 2: NFL Draft, he would be our Royal Rumble analyst, and
• 5:43
Speaker 2: now he is. He's in kindergarten. I'm hopeful Doctor Trey
• 5:46
Speaker 2: that come Royal Rumble like that. He doesn't Hollywood US now,
• 5:50
Speaker 2: like he's still okay with doing the Royal Rumble predictions
• 5:54
Speaker 2: like he's done every year with his toys.
• 5:56
Speaker 3: Well, he did get really excited on Monday, or was Tuesday.
• 5:59
Speaker 3: Tuesday we went to the store and he had kind
• 6:03
Speaker 3: of not been picking WW wrestlers for his new toys
• 6:07
Speaker 3: for a little bit. Uh, but he came across a
• 6:10
Speaker 3: million Dollar Man action figure and picked it out.
• 6:13
  Speaker 2: Uh.
• 6:14
Speaker 3: So because he had the it was the green suited
• 6:17
Speaker 3: one with the money symbols on it. He got really
• 6:19
Speaker 3: excited about it. Uh And I did too, because Debiosis
• 6:22
Speaker 3: one of the first guys I ever saw wrestle in
• 6:24
Speaker 3: person when I was about Sammy's age. So, uh, you know,
• 6:27
Speaker 3: I think he's adding to his collection and preparation for
• 6:31
Speaker 3: the Royal Rumbles so he could do more prognostication.
• 6:34
Speaker 2: Tuned that That is not something I've read right now
• 6:36
Speaker 2: where the million Dollar Man ted TOBIASI could potentially win
• 6:39
  Speaker 2: the Royal Rumble.
• 6:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean money talks.
• 6:42
Speaker 3: I mean everybody's got a price, and so apparently, you know,
• 6:44
Speaker 3: I mean obviously Vince had a price because he we
• 6:47
Speaker 3: sold WW to TKO. So I mean, if if the
• 6:49
Speaker 3: million Dollar Man showed up and the money was right,
• 6:52
Speaker 3: I'm sure Adam Pierceky dropped him in at number thirty
• 6:54
Speaker 3: and just see the chips fall.
• 6:56
Speaker 2: It's so funny that, like thirty years later that the
• 6:59
Speaker 2: term million dollar man is like, I guess what would
• 7:02
Speaker 2: have been like the thousand dollars man back in the
• 7:04
Speaker 2: eighties at this point because people are just we're not
• 7:07
Speaker 2: talking millions anymore. We're in the billions with a bee.
• 7:10
Speaker 2: So there you go. Lots going on in the world
• 7:12
Speaker 2: outside of SRTU here on this week's edition. My son
• 7:16
Speaker 2: not in kindergarten. He's he's sleeping somewhere right now, hopefully
• 7:22
Speaker 2: and not screaming. I'm looking for the day where he
• 7:25
Speaker 2: makes in an appearance on the show verbally by just
• 7:28
Speaker 2: yelling whether it's a typer change or he's hungry. So
• 7:31
Speaker 2: stay tuned for that. But let's get into SummerSlam. Doctor Trey.
• 7:35
Speaker 2: He actually watched it with me for a little bit,
• 7:37
Speaker 2: sat down, watched it for a little bit. Then he
• 7:40
Speaker 2: got fussy. He got really upset when the whole Ria
• 7:43
Speaker 2: Live Morgan dominic stuff went down, and then he went
• 7:45
Speaker 2: to bed pretty quickly after that. He just couldn't take
• 7:47
Speaker 2: it anymore. So let's getting the SummerSlam recap review this
• 7:51
Speaker 2: past Saturday from Cleveland Brown Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. The
• 7:56
Speaker 2: first match here Live Morgan defeats Rheo Ripley to retain
• 7:59
Speaker 2: the Women's World Championship. We both had Live Morgan in
• 8:02
Speaker 2: this one. Dom has finally turned on Rihada Ripley and
• 8:05
Speaker 2: a line was Live Morgan after an incredible build over
• 8:07
Speaker 2: the last several months. This was a really good match,
• 8:10
Speaker 2: and I enjoyed how liv Morgan was booked in this
• 8:12
Speaker 2: match prior to Dom's interference. I liked that the interference
• 8:15
Speaker 2: that led to the pin wasn't completely known at the
• 8:17
Speaker 2: time if it was accidental or purposely done until they
• 8:19
Speaker 2: had Dom pick up Live for the kiss. Great stuff
• 8:22
Speaker 2: here in the build and the actual match itself. I
• 8:24
Speaker 2: really enjoy this one is Live Morgan defeat Reader Ripley,
• 8:27
  Speaker 2: Doctor Trey. Yeah.
• 8:28
Speaker 1: I really liked it on two parts. A.
• 8:31
Speaker 3: You know, it kind of solidified Rhea as a babyface
• 8:34
Speaker 3: because you don't you don't do the lethal weapon relocate
• 8:40
Speaker 3: the shoulder for a heel, you do that for a
• 8:42
Speaker 3: badass baby face, and we kind of saw that twice
• 8:45
Speaker 3: in the match. I also liked it because the show
• 8:48
Speaker 3: once again lives a main eventor like lives super good
• 8:52
Speaker 3: in the ring. She can tell a story, her facials
• 8:55
Speaker 3: are phenomenal, so just really really kill her. Opening match
• 8:59
Speaker 3: between two. I mean this is you know, you have
• 9:03
Speaker 3: a big powerhouse and a one hundred and ten pound
• 9:07
Speaker 3: woman going at it, and you have a compelling matchup.
• 9:09
Speaker 1: So it was a good storytelling, good end, and we.
• 9:12
Speaker 3: Had a heel turn even more heel, which is something
• 9:17
Speaker 3: you really don't see a professional wrestling, So it was
• 9:19
Speaker 3: great for everybody involved there.
• 9:21
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 9:21
Speaker 2: I really enjoyed this one. It was a great way
• 9:23
Speaker 2: to kick off the show. And this is what we discussed,
• 9:25
Speaker 2: right Doctor Trey. We felt that one of the two
• 9:28
Speaker 2: Judgment Day matches was more than likely going to kick
• 9:31
Speaker 2: off the show, and we felt that if Cody, which
• 9:34
Speaker 2: we'll get to you later on, and Solo we're closing
• 9:36
Speaker 2: the show, that there would be a bigger domino piece
• 9:39
Speaker 2: to fall. Once I saw this take place and like, okay,
• 9:42
Speaker 2: we're going to see that Judgment Day implosion taking shape
• 9:46
  Speaker 2: here at SummerSlam.
• 9:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, and even the payoff on Monday was really well
• 9:51
Speaker 3: don which I'm sure we'll get to a little bit later,
• 9:53
Speaker 3: but yeah, it kind of laid out almost exactly like
• 9:57
Speaker 3: we kind of thought it was, with you have the
• 9:59
Speaker 3: first Judgment Day turn leading into the implosion later on.
• 10:02
Speaker 1: So yeah, it although we predicted it.
• 10:06
Speaker 3: It was still good storytelling and to see it come
• 10:09
Speaker 3: to fruition on TV was really satisfying.
• 10:11
Speaker 2: And what I really liked about this is they didn't
• 10:13
Speaker 2: ignore the behind the scenes stuff with a Judgment Day.
• 10:16
Speaker 2: So you have in between I think this match and
• 10:18
Speaker 2: the next one on which was Brown Breaker and Sammy Zain,
• 10:21
Speaker 2: you have Damien Priest going into the Judgment Day locker
• 10:24
Speaker 2: room being like what the hell was that about? I
• 10:26
Speaker 2: think it was right after this match. It may have
• 10:28
Speaker 2: been after the Intercomital title match, but it was definitely
• 10:31
Speaker 2: early on the show. Did Finn know about this? JD
• 10:36
Speaker 2: and Carlito We're gonna go look for domb Nobody could
• 10:39
Speaker 2: get a hold of dumb. So you still had this
• 10:41
Speaker 2: like quasi, you know, how is Damien taking this news?
• 10:44
Speaker 2: How is the Judgment Day taking this news? And I
• 10:47
Speaker 2: really really appreciated w creative doing that. Doubt true because
• 10:50
Speaker 2: I think that helped further along the storyline taking place
• 10:53
  Speaker 2: within the show.
• 10:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, and not to mention, it also helped set up
• 10:57
Speaker 3: Damien's match with Gunther where like Finn's like, look, I'll
• 11:00
Speaker 3: handle this. You need to focus on your match. I
• 11:03
Speaker 3: know you said you don't need me, but if you do,
• 11:05
Speaker 3: I'll be there for you that it does. So it's
• 11:07
Speaker 3: still kind of foreshadowed there, but like you said, it's
• 11:11
Speaker 3: one of those little small things in wrestling, and you
• 11:13
Speaker 3: know this is one of things to be knock aw about.
• 11:16
Speaker 3: Is something just happened in the ring. When you go
• 11:18
Speaker 3: back stage, don't ignore it. Tie it all together and
• 11:22
Speaker 3: create your storyline. So like, even though, like I said earlier,
• 11:25
Speaker 3: like we kind of knew, like you and I had
• 11:27
Speaker 3: an idea of how the show is going to play out,
• 11:30
Speaker 3: it's still great storytelling to see it actually play out
• 11:32
Speaker 3: on TV the way it should.
• 11:35
Speaker 2: The next match, who was bron Breaker defeating Sammy's Ain
• 11:38
Speaker 2: to win the WI Interccount Little Championship. We both had
• 11:40
Speaker 2: bron Breaker and this one putting the town on Braun
• 11:42
Speaker 2: was the right calls. Braun needs this title to elevate
• 11:44
Speaker 2: his career in a time for Sammy to enter the
• 11:46
Speaker 2: main event picture, as he is someone I could see
• 11:48
Speaker 2: winning the world. They have a wait championship over the
• 11:50
Speaker 2: next six to twelve months, I would say right now
• 11:52
Speaker 2: an early favorite for me to potentially win the Royal
• 11:55
Speaker 2: Rumbull in twenty twenty five. Going back to Young Sammy
• 11:58
Speaker 2: Franklin discussion earlier on the show, The biggest surprise here
• 12:01
Speaker 2: was how short this match was. To me, I would
• 12:02
Speaker 2: love to see an Intercontinental title picture led by bron
• 12:05
Speaker 2: Breaker and Ely dragging off for the rest of the
• 12:07
Speaker 2: year moving forward. There have been kind of inklings that
• 12:10
Speaker 2: that may be the case onto the time part. It
• 12:14
Speaker 2: later was revealed, I think maybe from Frightful Select a
• 12:16
Speaker 2: couple of days later, that this match had ten minutes
• 12:19
Speaker 2: a LOTT and it went shorter than the ten minutes,
• 12:22
Speaker 2: which is rare in wrestling. So I don't know what
• 12:24
Speaker 2: was going on there from the timing sense of things,
• 12:26
Speaker 2: but bron Breaker, as you knew Intercontinental Champion Doctor Try.
• 12:30
Speaker 3: Yeah, a little surprising on the time because the previous
• 12:33
Speaker 3: pla their match was much longer and a little more
• 12:36
Speaker 3: you know, build for both guys, and this one kind
• 12:39
Speaker 3: of I don't It wasn't squashous, but it was just
• 12:42
Speaker 3: very very quick. I kind of want to see a
• 12:45
Speaker 3: little bit more, especially if you're going to move Sammy
• 12:47
Speaker 3: on to something else, whether it's the Judgment day stuff
• 12:50
Speaker 3: or into the main event title picture. I honestly was
• 12:52
Speaker 3: surprised that he wasn't Dump's challenger for Germany coming up,
• 12:57
  Speaker 3: But yeah, I.
• 12:58
Speaker 1: Just felt like it was a little short, a little rushed.
• 13:02
Speaker 3: Great because he says a really good Frankensteiner though on
• 13:04
Speaker 3: that match, So just it was good, but it could
• 13:08
Speaker 3: have been much better.
• 13:09
Speaker 1: It's definitely not one of the better matchups they've had.
• 13:12
Speaker 2: Agreed, No, the Money in the Bank match was much
• 13:14
Speaker 2: better than what we saw at SummerSlam over the weekend.
• 13:19
Speaker 2: I really enjoyed that one, and I like the back
• 13:21
Speaker 2: and forth. This was just Braun basically dominating Samy's Ain,
• 13:24
Speaker 2: which was really surprising. But again, I think it's one
• 13:27
Speaker 2: of those things where it's like, this is we're taking
• 13:30
Speaker 2: Sammy out of the upper mid card, mid card however
• 13:32
Speaker 2: you want to look at it, and we need to
• 13:33
Speaker 2: elevate him now to the main event title picture. Plus,
• 13:37
Speaker 2: I think Sammy plays a role in what we see
• 13:39
Speaker 2: at the end of the show with the Cody Rhodes
• 13:42
Speaker 2: solo Soakoa match, because I think what you're seeing on
• 13:45
Speaker 2: Raw take place with the interactions with Jay Usso and
• 13:47
Speaker 2: Sammy Zain is part of a longer term play as well,
• 13:50
Speaker 2: and their potential roles heading here into the rest of
• 13:53
Speaker 2: twenty twenty four. Next match, Doctor Trey is La Knight
• 13:56
Speaker 2: defeating Logan Paul to win the w United States Championship.
• 14:00
Speaker 2: Logan Pol you at La Night. It was time for
• 14:02
Speaker 2: La Night to be crowning Singles Champion WI and it
• 14:04
Speaker 2: was time for Logan Pol to drop the United States
• 14:06
Speaker 2: Championship as well. Fun back and forth match that had
• 14:09
Speaker 2: some really good chemistry between these two guys. I would
• 14:11
Speaker 2: love to see at La Night Logan Paul rematch, but
• 14:13
Speaker 2: I wonder if this means we will see Logan off
• 14:16
Speaker 2: at WE Television for a bit. The I hate to
• 14:20
Speaker 2: use the word botched because they ended up saving it
• 14:23
Speaker 2: as a top rope brainbuster, which is absurd to say
• 14:26
Speaker 2: out loud. But the superplex that wasn't a superplex that
• 14:30
Speaker 2: was a brainbuster, I guess actually shook up Logan Paul
• 14:33
Speaker 2: a bit that I watched it in a livetime scare
• 14:36
Speaker 2: the crap out of me as it was happening, Like
• 14:38
Speaker 2: it was one of those like you couldn't watch it,
• 14:41
Speaker 2: but you had to watch it to see what happened.
• 14:44
Speaker 2: This was a good one. Doctor Trey La Night finally
• 14:46
Speaker 2: gets to each Singles Championship in wa Man.
• 14:49
Speaker 3: We got an MJ MGK sighting, which I don't think
• 14:52
Speaker 3: we've seen him since he got power bombed off the stage.
• 14:55
  Speaker 1: Am I wrong?
• 14:56
  Speaker 2: On that?
• 14:56
Speaker 1: Was that the first?
• 14:57
Speaker 2: I think this was the first time since the whole
• 14:59
Speaker 2: Kevin Owen stuff. Yeah, I was. I was thrilled the
• 15:01
Speaker 2: MGK was back, and so was the crowd. They would
• 15:03
  Speaker 2: nut not really.
• 15:06
Speaker 1: I was just like, wow, okay, so we're just gonna
• 15:08
Speaker 1: pull out every random person? Okay, yeah, great? But uh
• 15:12
  Speaker 1: yeah it was.
• 15:12
Speaker 3: It was a fine match and there, like, the chemistry
• 15:15
Speaker 3: was pretty solid. They had their good moments. The top
• 15:18
Speaker 3: rope super flex slash, Brainbuster slash, I don't know, one
• 15:22
Speaker 3: of the few times we've seen maybe a misstep by
• 15:25
Speaker 3: Logan Paul in his young career. Then the Raymisterio spot
• 15:30
Speaker 3: from a was a rest snow of a Survivor series
• 15:34
Speaker 3: time somewhere there. But yeah, I mean he's gonna have
• 15:38
Speaker 3: a couple of missteps here and there, but overall, like
• 15:41
Speaker 3: solid US title run and and potentially depending on how
• 15:45
Speaker 3: this whole Bloodline thing shakes out, I mean, he could
• 15:48
Speaker 3: be one of the people in line that challenged Cody
• 15:51
Speaker 3: once solo and the Bloodline transition off to somebody else.
• 15:55
Speaker 3: Cody needs challengers, and they already had one good match,
• 15:58
Speaker 3: and it would make sense to put him back into
• 15:59
Speaker 3: that pictures. So good for in great for Alla Night,
• 16:03
Speaker 3: because this was a make or break for me.
• 16:05
Speaker 1: I think you heard Corey Graves.
• 16:07
Speaker 3: Mentioned it on the on the team that you know
• 16:11
Speaker 3: he's had all this momentum for the better part of
• 16:13
Speaker 3: a year and a half. If they didn't strike now,
• 16:17
Speaker 3: I didn't think they were going to do it. So
• 16:18
Speaker 3: it was gonna see them playing pull the trigger and
• 16:20
Speaker 3: put a title on LA nine.
• 16:22
Speaker 2: Next match here is Nia Jacks defeeding Bailey to win
• 16:24
Speaker 2: the W Women's Championship. We both had Bailey in this one.
• 16:28
Speaker 2: This puts an end to an unfortunately underwhelming title run
• 16:31
Speaker 2: for Bailey, as Nia Jacks, who has had some really
• 16:34
Speaker 2: good creative and billed as of late, is the new
• 16:36
Speaker 2: w Women's Champion. Ni holding the title could potentially save
• 16:39
Speaker 2: Bailey's twenty twenty fourth They decide to still have her
• 16:42
Speaker 2: be the babyface and I a seal character moving forward.
• 16:45
Speaker 2: The underwhelming run for Bailey is totally not her fault.
• 16:48
Speaker 2: The creative just hasn't been there, and I wonder if
• 16:50
Speaker 2: fans had a tough time connecting with this version of
• 16:53
Speaker 2: Bailey turning babyface after her really really good heel run.
• 16:58
Speaker 2: I still think that hugger Bailey should return once she
• 17:00
Speaker 2: turned baby face, but that's just me. Nia is the
• 17:03
Speaker 2: new WA Women's Champion. They tease a cash in to
• 17:07
Speaker 2: distract Bailey, which was really good match creative stuff as well.
• 17:12
Speaker 2: Your thoughts here, doctor Trey's nay Jack's is your new
• 17:14
  Speaker 2: women's champ.
• 17:15
Speaker 3: So we've been doing this show for a very long time,
• 17:19
Speaker 3: and Naya has been one of my most heavily criticized
• 17:22
Speaker 3: performers during this run, but the last this second run
• 17:27
Speaker 3: of hers, has been so good. And I'm going to
• 17:29
Speaker 3: point out where I actually enjoy watching Naya in the ring.
• 17:33
Speaker 3: There are still moments where it feels like, Okay, that
• 17:36
Speaker 3: might be a little dangerous, but the stuff when she's
• 17:39
Speaker 3: talking trash in the ring is so good. You know,
• 17:42
Speaker 3: like there's a spot in there where she was just
• 17:44
Speaker 3: hammering on Bailey and yelling out, you know, calling me reckless,
• 17:48
Speaker 3: calling me dangerous, like all those things like that.
• 17:51
Speaker 1: I really enjoy that.
• 17:51
Speaker 3: And so to me, this is the right move for
• 17:55
Speaker 3: them because you have the Tiffany characters kind of the underling.
• 17:58
Speaker 3: This is in a way kind of setting have like
• 18:00
Speaker 3: the Tony Storm Mariah May stuff that we saw in
• 18:03
Speaker 3: aw where you have a champion with an underling. At
• 18:07
Speaker 3: some point, the underling has a reason to turn on
• 18:12
Speaker 3: you know, her, her leege, her person that she's following.
• 18:16
Speaker 3: So I'm really anxious to see how well this plays out.
• 18:19
Speaker 3: And you know, Hugger Bailey, uh would be great. And
• 18:23
Speaker 3: we saw tassels on Bailey's outfit and I don't know
• 18:26
Speaker 3: if you've known that when she's coming downs like she's
• 18:29
Speaker 3: got the little streamer tassels going on. We haven't really
• 18:31
Speaker 3: seen that since the Hugger days. So maybe this is
• 18:34
Speaker 3: a little foreshadowing that eventually we will.
• 18:36
Speaker 1: Get more of the full blowed old school Bailey babyface character.
• 18:40
  Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's been. It's been a disappointing run. It's
• 18:44
Speaker 2: it's unfortunate. She's very, very likable, a great in ring worker,
• 18:48
Speaker 2: one of our favorite wrestlers we've covered here in the
• 18:50
Speaker 2: history of the podcast. I just think it was a
• 18:53
Speaker 2: really hard transition Doctor Trevor people to accept that heel
• 18:56
Speaker 2: character of Bailey as a babyface. It's it just felt
• 19:00
Speaker 2: like it never really transitioned well from turning her heel
• 19:03
Speaker 2: back to babyface. I would have liked to see in
• 19:06
Speaker 2: a little bit more here, And I think that Hugger
• 19:07
Speaker 2: Bailey era is ones that the fans are kind of
• 19:10
Speaker 2: clamoring for because it's been like five years at this point.
• 19:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's really hard to take somebody who
• 19:16
Speaker 3: was so despised and turned them babyface even though they
• 19:20
Speaker 3: did the beat down angle, but the character of Bailey
• 19:24
Speaker 3: didn't really change. It was still basically the same music,
• 19:27
Speaker 3: her still calling herself a role model. It didn't really
• 19:31
Speaker 3: change it all. So it's really hard for fans to go, oh,
• 19:35
Speaker 3: I really like her now she's changed when she didn't
• 19:38
Speaker 3: really change it all.
• 19:39
Speaker 1: So it's kind of hard to really get that audience
• 19:42
Speaker 1: behind you in that role.
• 19:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, I totally agree. It was the character never really
• 19:47
Speaker 2: did anything that was like, I I'm sorry for everything
• 19:50
Speaker 2: that I did. I mean, she was such a good
• 19:52
Speaker 2: heel character during that five year run almost that it
• 19:55
Speaker 2: was like, I think she needed to mend a couple
• 19:57
Speaker 2: of fences because she was so damn good with the
• 19:58
Speaker 2: fan base. And it really occurred because the fans want
• 20:01
Speaker 2: her to be Babyface. It's just the character was such
• 20:05
Speaker 2: a really good heel. Next match here is Drew McIntire
• 20:08
Speaker 2: defeating cmpunk with Seth Freakin Rollins a special guest referee.
• 20:11
Speaker 2: We both had Drew McIntyre the fact that a friendship
• 20:15
Speaker 2: bracelet with his wife and the dog's name on it
• 20:17
Speaker 2: truly costs cmpunk. This match was interesting booking. I can
• 20:22
Speaker 2: partially get behind that due to symbolism, and I can
• 20:24
Speaker 2: partially get behind it being totally ridiculous as well. I
• 20:27
Speaker 2: really like how the an announcers pumped up that Seampunk's
• 20:30
Speaker 2: anger basically got in the wave and winning the match.
• 20:32
Speaker 2: I had high expectations for this match, and I feel
• 20:34
Speaker 2: like the execution may have felt a little flat. This
• 20:37
Speaker 2: has been my favorite w FU this year so far,
• 20:39
Speaker 2: and I was hoping for a little more on Saturday night.
• 20:41
Speaker 2: This did not mean it was a bad match by
• 20:43
Speaker 2: any means. I was just hoping for a holy shit,
• 20:46
Speaker 2: that was a great, that was great moment and they
• 20:49
Speaker 2: and instead focused a lot on a friendship bracelet. And
• 20:54
Speaker 2: I know Triple H called this match a masterpiece. Again,
• 20:57
Speaker 2: there's symbolism, but there I just have a tough time
• 21:00
Speaker 2: as a thirty eight year old male to get behind
• 21:04
Speaker 2: the symbolism, meaning thoughts of this friendship bracelet being the
• 21:08
Speaker 2: cause of so much angst and anger between the two
• 21:10
Speaker 2: of them, Doctor Trey. It is borderline silly, but it's
• 21:14
Speaker 2: also borderline makes sense. It's a very weird spot for
• 21:17
Speaker 2: me as a fan of be In. So that's where
• 21:19
Speaker 2: I'm standing on a theentire thing. Your thoughts on this one, Yeah,
• 21:24
  Speaker 2: it's real.
• 21:24
Speaker 1: Like so the match itself, everything leading up to the finish.
• 21:27
Speaker 1: I enjoyed the match.
• 21:28
Speaker 3: I mean, this is probably the best Punk has looked
• 21:31
Speaker 3: in quite some time. I mean this is his first
• 21:34
Speaker 3: match back, and you know what, nine months, ten months,
• 21:38
Speaker 3: I can't remember how long it's been since.
• 21:40
Speaker 1: He's actually been in WW since he left the aw
• 21:42
Speaker 1: but he looked really good in this match.
• 21:45
Speaker 3: The symbolism behind the friendship bracelet, as you as you
• 21:49
Speaker 3: call it, I love it because Larry may be the
• 21:53
Speaker 3: most divisive dog in the history of modern sports. I
• 21:59
Speaker 3: mean he literally cause this owner to basically kind of
• 22:03
Speaker 3: get fired for one job, and now he causes owner
• 22:05
Speaker 3: a match at SummerSlam because of how much his owner
• 22:08
Speaker 3: loves him. So Larry maybe not be the best dog
• 22:11
Speaker 3: in the world or at at the very least the
• 22:14
Speaker 3: worst good luck charm or maybe the worst man's best
• 22:17
Speaker 3: friend in quite some time. I get it on the
• 22:21
Speaker 3: sense of the way it played out, because I thought
• 22:23
Speaker 3: it was very clever how they did it, how the
• 22:26
Speaker 3: bracelet came off. Seth being the ref just does what
• 22:29
Speaker 3: the ref does and picks it up and instead of
• 22:32
Speaker 3: just tossing it to.
• 22:33
Speaker 1: The corner, put it on.
• 22:34
Speaker 3: And because of everything that had let into it before,
• 22:37
Speaker 3: with Seth saying I hate you, I hate you, calling
• 22:39
Speaker 3: you down the middle, and a couple other things going
• 22:41
Speaker 3: on the match, when he sees it on the wrist,
• 22:44
Speaker 3: he's like, oh crap, you're actually with Drew or you're
• 22:47
Speaker 3: siding with Drew against him. So I kind of understood
• 22:50
Speaker 3: the simpleness, but you're absolutely right as a grown ass
• 22:53
Speaker 3: man to kind of like, go, this whole match ended
• 22:57
  Speaker 3: over this bracelet.
• 23:00
Speaker 1: You know, it is what it is.
• 23:01
Speaker 3: You can also blame Triple H because if your no
• 23:03
Speaker 3: is Triple H and I do the same thing, where's
• 23:06
Speaker 3: a lot of bracelets. So maybe that was his kind
• 23:09
Speaker 3: of thing, like I love my bracelet. So it makes
• 23:10
Speaker 3: a lot of sense that this could cost somebody a
• 23:13
Speaker 3: match of SummerSlam. It is a weird way to kind
• 23:15
Speaker 3: of end this match, but I'm excited for what happened
• 23:21
Speaker 3: on Raw with the interactions leading into so it's like, Okay,
• 23:25
Speaker 3: we might get a rerun of this and then sets
• 23:27
Speaker 3: off on something else now to to kind of take
• 23:30
Speaker 3: him out of the picture. So maybe the next match
• 23:32
Speaker 3: they'll just do the bracelet on a pole match that
• 23:35
Speaker 3: we're all clamoring for.
• 23:37
  Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's a really it's a really tough thing
• 23:41
Speaker 2: for a guy my age to be like, oh my god,
• 23:44
Speaker 2: put that bracelet down, you son of a bitch. Like
• 23:47
Speaker 2: I can find I could be relatable to.
• 23:49
Speaker 3: This if it was a wedding ring, you know, which
• 23:52
Speaker 3: I think we've seen that done before. But if it
• 23:55
Speaker 3: was the wedding ring, like that would have a little
• 23:57
Speaker 3: more impact on you, though, could I mean, because you're
• 23:59
  Speaker 3: a married man, I'm a married man. You and I
• 24:01
Speaker 3: both have dogs that we absolutely love. We just don't
• 24:04
Speaker 3: have bracelets with our wife and dog's name on it.
• 24:08
Speaker 3: But you know, if somebody stole your wedding ring, was
• 24:10
Speaker 3: taunting you at the wedding ring, that would be a
• 24:12
Speaker 3: little more impactful, right.
• 24:14
Speaker 2: Well, you know what I thought, I agree with what
• 24:16
Speaker 2: you're saying, I'll answer that part. Yes, I think that
• 24:19
Speaker 2: would be more relatable to most people than the friendship bracelet,
• 24:23
Speaker 2: I will say. And this kind of maybe leads us
• 24:27
Speaker 2: onto where aj Lee's current thoughts on a reigniting her
• 24:33
Speaker 2: wrestling career is. I think some sort of segment leading
• 24:36
Speaker 2: into this where you know, Punk's in the ring, the
• 24:38
Speaker 2: classic w segment, punks in the ring kind of promo,
• 24:41
Speaker 2: and they cut via satellite or you know, Drew McIntyre's
• 24:44
Speaker 2: on his cell phone facetiming into w WEE or whatever,
• 24:47
Speaker 2: and he's entering the home apartment wherever seem Punk and
• 24:51
Speaker 2: aj Lee live in Chicago, Illinois. And that right there,
• 24:55
Speaker 2: you've got Larry in the in the in the mix,
• 24:57
Speaker 2: You've got aj Lee in the mix, and you've got
• 24:59
Speaker 2: like this really cool, subtle way of welcoming her back
• 25:02
Speaker 2: to WE Television for the first time in nearly ten
• 25:05
Speaker 2: years to help promote this storyline. And I thought that
• 25:08
Speaker 2: would have been a little bit more impactful. And maybe
• 25:10
Speaker 2: that's where I get behind it, because the fact that
• 25:12
Speaker 2: you don't see aj Lee and you don't see Larry
• 25:15
Speaker 2: involved in storyline is it's a little bit strange. I mean,
• 25:19
Speaker 2: they don't even run vignettes. It's just the friendship bracelet's
• 25:23
Speaker 2: the only thing. And it's like crazy to me that
• 25:26
Speaker 2: that's like what's driving so much to anger for seeing
• 25:29
Speaker 2: Punk of all people.
• 25:30
Speaker 3: It's a little bit of one thing we used to
• 25:33
Speaker 3: knock aw for, which was they would run promos on
• 25:36
Speaker 3: being or they would run stuff on being the Elite
• 25:39
Speaker 3: and put it on and then go to the angle
• 25:43
Speaker 3: on television and people like us that didn't watch that show, like,
• 25:45
Speaker 3: I don't really get this. In a lot of ways,
• 25:47
Speaker 3: they're kind of banking on the hardcore wrestling fans to
• 25:51
Speaker 3: hey know who aj Lee is be understand the relationship
• 25:55
Speaker 3: of seeing Punk and his dog to really get this
• 25:58
Speaker 3: over because you know, for a lot of that maybe
• 26:00
  Speaker 3: don't know all the history. They're just like it's a
• 26:03
Speaker 3: bracelet at about a guy's wife and his dog, and
• 26:05
Speaker 3: it's this much animosity, Like it is crazy. But I
• 26:08
Speaker 3: don't know if they can go the well with you know,
• 26:11
Speaker 3: Drew breaking into the house, because we've seen that with
• 26:13
Speaker 3: you know, Seth and Edge. We saw that with Dexter
• 26:15
Speaker 3: Loomis in the Mint and this just Oronton.
• 26:19
Speaker 1: We saw with Samoa with Joe and AJ you know,
• 26:22
Speaker 1: so like we see him like the only.
• 26:23
Speaker 2: Thing I could think of AJ styles in La Night.
• 26:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, if you want to go deep down the rabbit hole,
• 26:29
Speaker 3: maybe uh drew back and tire feeds Larry to see
• 26:31
  Speaker 3: him Punk.
• 26:32
Speaker 2: Oh God, big boss man, I'll snow all the greatest
• 26:36
Speaker 2: feuds in the world of professional wrestling.
• 26:38
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 26:38
Speaker 2: I don't know. Match was good again, I just thought
• 26:41
Speaker 2: so much being pertained to this friendship brace that was
• 26:45
Speaker 2: like obsurred to me. However, after SummerSlam, I found it
• 26:48
Speaker 2: very funny. I think the actual person who so an
• 26:51
Speaker 2: actual fan, gave this friendship bracelet to see him Punk,
• 26:55
Speaker 2: and I think either like a meet and greet during
• 26:58
Speaker 2: WrestleMania weekend or something along those lines. There's there's the
• 27:01
Speaker 2: picture out there, and I think she tweeted for some
• 27:04
Speaker 2: reason Slim Jim because that's my go to is. I'm
• 27:08
Speaker 2: almost positive she tweeted Slim Jim. I hope, well, I actually,
• 27:11
Speaker 2: I also hope I'm wrong in this looking for like
• 27:14
Speaker 2: some sort of compensation to be involved, Like the reason
• 27:17
Speaker 2: why this is this feud taking place is because of
• 27:20
Speaker 2: her friendship bracelet. And I found that funny. I mean,
• 27:23
Speaker 2: if I were her, I would be capitalizing on this
• 27:25
Speaker 2: and selling them on Etsy like like money makers right now.
• 27:29
Speaker 2: But I had no idea that an actual fan made
• 27:32
Speaker 2: this friendship bracelet for her for cmpunk, So I found
• 27:34
Speaker 2: that incredibly funny as well.
• 27:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't know that either, but it reminds me of.
• 27:41
Speaker 3: Kyle Yuex wife that made a couple of jackets and
• 27:44
Speaker 3: then all of a sudden it took off her in
• 27:46
Speaker 3: the NFL playoffs last year, and now she has a
• 27:49
Speaker 3: whole business out of it, which then allowed the Niners
• 27:52
Speaker 3: to cut his pay.
• 27:53
Speaker 2: Oh perfect, I mean that's that's typical for businesses. So yeah,
• 27:56
Speaker 2: there you go, Dream mcintar cmpunk. I think we've kind
• 27:58
Speaker 2: of run that one in the ground. Two guys in
• 28:02
Speaker 2: their older ages of life having a tough time wrapping
• 28:05
Speaker 2: their heads around the friendship bracelet being the reason why
• 28:07
Speaker 2: there was so much animosity and angs during this match.
• 28:11
Speaker 2: Next match, Year has gun through defeating Damien Priest to
• 28:13
Speaker 2: win the World of Weight Championship. We both had gone
• 28:14
Speaker 2: through in this one. The Junk to Day implosion has
• 28:17
Speaker 2: finally happened as Finn Baler turns on Damian Priest. The
• 28:20
Speaker 2: WrestleMania fifteen scenario I discussed on last week's podcast, took
• 28:23
Speaker 2: place on Saturday Night All Bit with some questions still
• 28:26
Speaker 2: love to be asked coming out of the show. The
• 28:27
Speaker 2: final ten minutes of this match was fun and compelling.
• 28:30
Speaker 2: The slap test was insane or slapfesticscas who was insane
• 28:33
Speaker 2: Between Gunthor and Priest. Go Through becoming a World champion
• 28:36
Speaker 2: WWE has been long overdue, and I expect this to
• 28:37
Speaker 2: be a pretty decent run at the top of the
• 28:39
Speaker 2: World of Weight Championship. We'll get into that a little
• 28:42
Speaker 2: bit more later on the show, but Gone Through defeats
• 28:44
Speaker 2: Damien Priest. Finn Balor turns on Damien Doctor Try.
• 28:47
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 28:47
Speaker 3: I actually really enjoyed this match, and part of it
• 28:50
Speaker 3: was the growth of Damien Priest and did the character
• 28:54
Speaker 3: development is facials Also just size wise, I'm looking at
• 28:57
Speaker 3: this guy in the ring, I'm like, man, I sometimes
• 28:59
Speaker 3: you forget how big he is at times because he
• 29:02
Speaker 3: was bigger than Gunther and you go back to those
• 29:05
Speaker 3: NXTQUK days and Guther looked like it. Guncher looked like
• 29:08
Speaker 3: a monster, and you're like, damn, Damian Priest is a legit,
• 29:10
Speaker 3: like six ' eighth orderline three hundred pounders. So this
• 29:16
Speaker 3: match is overall was it was really good. The ending
• 29:18
  Speaker 3: was good.
• 29:20
Speaker 1: They just this to match the media Like It's not
• 29:22
Speaker 1: Match of the Year candidate, but just if.
• 29:25
Speaker 3: You're looking for like what a good solid screw job
• 29:29
Speaker 3: finish match should be, this is like the prototype. It
• 29:33
Speaker 3: was legitimizing a guy as a baby face getting another
• 29:35
Speaker 3: guy over as a heel. The betrayal, the animosity, I mean,
• 29:40
Speaker 3: that moment when he dove through the ropes and grabbed
• 29:43
Speaker 3: fin By the throat was really good. The only thing,
• 29:47
Speaker 3: my only knock on it was like fin still with
• 29:49
Speaker 3: his back to Damien for almost too long selling the turn.
• 29:54
Speaker 3: I think he thought the fish was coming a little
• 29:55
Speaker 3: bit quicker than that. But outside of that, man, this
• 29:57
Speaker 3: was just a really really solid world title match with
• 30:01
Speaker 3: a screw job finish.
• 30:03
Speaker 2: Yeah. Great facials by Finn Balen this one as well.
• 30:05
Speaker 2: That told the hell of a lot of story, which
• 30:06
Speaker 2: he's always been very very good with that. So more
• 30:09
Speaker 2: on the Judgment Day implosion later on here in the podcast.
• 30:12
Speaker 2: Let's get to the next match here. Doctor Trying was
• 30:14
Speaker 2: the main event. Cody Rhodes defeats Sosikoa to retain the
• 30:17
  Speaker 2: m speed a w Championship in a blood Line rules
• 30:20
Speaker 2: match that was announced on Friday's addition to Smackdann conductor
• 30:24
Speaker 2: Trayner recorded Cody Rhodes was the pick that we both
• 30:26
Speaker 2: had in this match. The best worst thing WWE did
• 30:30
Speaker 2: was make this a Bloodline rules match. The reason why
• 30:32
Speaker 2: I say this is because I love the Wrestlemanting forty
• 30:35
Speaker 2: Bloodline rules match in the Summer Slam. Bloodline rules match
• 30:38
Speaker 2: immediately had some massive shoes to fill, which they obviously
• 30:42
Speaker 2: did not do due to the lack of substantial cameos
• 30:45
Speaker 2: like the Wrestlemanting forty match had. However, once the Bloodline
• 30:49
Speaker 2: rules stipulation was announced on SmackDown, I knew that Roman
• 30:52
Speaker 2: Rangs was coming back, and what a return it was.
• 30:54
Speaker 2: The Roman Reigns return was a lot of fun, and
• 30:56
Speaker 2: him helping Cody was a great win. Was a great moment. Also,
• 31:00
Speaker 2: shout out to w foreving Jacob Fatu sell an ankle
• 31:03
Speaker 2: leg injury because that made sense as to why he
• 31:05
Speaker 2: couldn't defend Solo from Roman Reins. I know there's been
• 31:09
Speaker 2: reports out there that it was legitimate and not legitimate,
• 31:12
Speaker 2: and that was the plan all along. And they did
• 31:14
Speaker 2: that because they don't want Jacob Fattou and Roman Rains
• 31:16
Speaker 2: to touch right now, and they want to save that
• 31:18
Speaker 2: for down the line. Where Cody goes from here is
• 31:23
Speaker 2: going to be very interesting. I feel like they've been
• 31:26
Speaker 2: teasing a match feud with Randy Orton for some time.
• 31:28
Speaker 2: But where the bloodline solo so Coo of Roman Rains
• 31:31
Speaker 2: goes from here, it will be a lot of fun
• 31:33
Speaker 2: and has me excited for a new chapter. If I
• 31:35
Speaker 2: had anything about this that I felt like was a
• 31:39
Speaker 2: bit off, Doctor Trey Is and I had tweeted this
• 31:42
Speaker 2: out earlier this week as well. If they were going
• 31:45
Speaker 2: to change Roman Reigns's music, they should have saved it
• 31:48
Speaker 2: for Friday's edition and SmackDown and had them come out
• 31:51
Speaker 2: to his old now old music at SummerSlam, because I think,
• 31:55
Speaker 2: because this is how I felt, I think there was
• 31:57
Speaker 2: a little bit of confusion as if this was was
• 31:59
Speaker 2: this going to be Roman Reigns, And if it wasn't
• 32:01
Speaker 2: for the head of the table graphic all over the
• 32:03
Speaker 2: place the Roman Reigns out of the table graphic, I
• 32:06
Speaker 2: would have never known if he was coming back. So
• 32:09
Speaker 2: I felt like they kind of missed it. Was a
• 32:12
Speaker 2: very very very good pop. I felt like it could
• 32:15
Speaker 2: have been a massive, so much bigger pop if it
• 32:19
Speaker 2: was the now old Roman Reigns music. Nonetheless, Cody Roads
• 32:23
Speaker 2: defeat Sela Soakoa and the original Tribal Chief is back.
• 32:29
Speaker 1: Yeah. So I like this match for most of it.
• 32:33
Speaker 1: The only thing I didn't like is once we got
• 32:35
Speaker 1: into I mean, because they went probably with fifteen minutes
• 32:38
Speaker 1: before anybody got involved, fifteen almost twenty minutes for anybody
• 32:40
Speaker 1: got involved in this match. It is that once people
• 32:43
Speaker 1: got involved, Solo really didn't do much and basically kind
• 32:48
Speaker 1: of stayed down for most that finished with their way
• 32:51
Speaker 1: kind of getting coming in getting.
• 32:52
Speaker 3: Involved, which I thought made him look a little week.
• 32:55
Speaker 3: At least, Roman was still kind of getting up during
• 32:58
Speaker 3: his match. But then once again, that's who's been doing
• 33:00
Speaker 3: this for fifteen years versus a guy that's really in
• 33:04
Speaker 3: his first May Solo main event.
• 33:08
Speaker 1: No pun intended. You're right on the Roman thing.
• 33:11
Speaker 3: The other thing I didn't like about it was maybe
• 33:15
Speaker 3: don't have Solo talk trash about Roman leading into the match,
• 33:19
Speaker 3: and then when Roman comes out, then he has that
• 33:23
Speaker 3: moment in the ring where Solo's standing there and Cody's
• 33:25
Speaker 3: standing there, and then he makes the move on Solo.
• 33:28
Speaker 3: When he rushed in and Solo fed right to him,
• 33:32
Speaker 3: You're like, oh, okay, this is where we're going that
• 33:35
Speaker 3: having that momentary pause where Roman, you know, you're kind
• 33:39
Speaker 3: of questioning who's he going after?
• 33:41
Speaker 1: Is it going to be Cody or Solo?
• 33:42
Speaker 3: I think could have made it even more impactful and
• 33:44
Speaker 3: made that pop on the first ram punch even bigger.
• 33:47
Speaker 3: But all in all, I am excited for where this
• 33:51
Speaker 3: goes with Roman and maybe the og blood line, the
• 33:54
Speaker 3: new blood line. We love you and I are old school,
• 33:59
Speaker 3: we love faction warfare like this. I mean, this is
• 34:02
Speaker 3: the right up our alley. And it does kind of
• 34:05
Speaker 3: leave a question, and once again with Cody is like, Okay,
• 34:07
Speaker 3: we understand he's the face of the company, but he's
• 34:11
Speaker 3: continuously being overshadowed by whatever Roman's doing.
• 34:16
Speaker 1: How do you correct? How do you course correct?
• 34:19
Speaker 3: If you want Cody to be the face of the
• 34:21
Speaker 3: company and he's being overshadowed by Romans, especially if they'll
• 34:24
Speaker 3: still end up on SmackDown, Cody's continually going to be
• 34:26
Speaker 3: overshadowed by whatever Roman the bloodline do.
• 34:29
Speaker 1: So that does make me a little nervous for the
• 34:32
Speaker 1: direction of Cody Road.
• 34:33
Speaker 2: Cody needs some good creative right now. I agree with you,
• 34:38
Speaker 2: he needs some really good, impactful creative because there's so
• 34:42
Speaker 2: many different, really good feuds that are going on in
• 34:45
Speaker 2: Wa right now that he It's like it's exposing the
• 34:50
Speaker 2: creative there. And maybe this is a SmackDown thing because
• 34:52
Speaker 2: I thought the Bailey and Iya Jack's build was not
• 34:55
Speaker 2: that great and it did not get a lot of
• 34:57
Speaker 2: attention going into the pay per view. I felt less
• 34:59
Speaker 2: comparable to the others. The raw feuds were getting a
• 35:02
Speaker 2: lot more attention and a lot more care for me
• 35:05
Speaker 2: as a fan. I mean, Real Live is a better
• 35:08
Speaker 2: feud right now than anything Cody's been involved with. The
• 35:12
Speaker 2: gun thir Damian Priest obviously drew and see him Punk
• 35:16
Speaker 2: was much better, you know, gun Thor and Randy Orton.
• 35:19
Speaker 2: I mean, he needs something right now that gets him
• 35:22
Speaker 2: into it. And I had felt like, and I said
• 35:24
Speaker 2: in my response to this was I wrote this pre
• 35:27
Speaker 2: Randy Orton challenging gun there to bash of Berlin, which,
• 35:30
Speaker 2: by the way, I think was really smart on W's
• 35:32
Speaker 2: part to do that, based on the way that that
• 35:33
Speaker 2: King of the Ring match took place. It just comes
• 35:39
Speaker 2: off as as strange that he doesn't have anything like
• 35:45
Speaker 2: emotionally encapsulating right now, and I thought that's where they
• 35:48
Speaker 2: could go with Randy Orton, and I just felt like
• 35:50
Speaker 2: they would been teasing that a little bit here and there.
• 35:53
Speaker 2: There's been a couple of seeds planted, but he needs
• 35:56
Speaker 2: he needs substantial heal, not sue you positioned. You know,
• 35:59
Speaker 2: you were saying, maybe it's it's logan, Paul, possibly we've
• 36:04
Speaker 2: we've been there, done that, but but maybe a betrayal
• 36:08
Speaker 2: of the sense of Randy Orton is one that is
• 36:11
Speaker 2: necessary as well. The Cody Rhades effect right now is
• 36:15
  Speaker 2: it's interesting. I mean, he's a guy that is in,
• 36:18
Speaker 2: you know, Wrestler of the Year conversation, but I don't know,
• 36:23
Speaker 2: it's it's he's kind of suffering from we want this
• 36:27
Speaker 2: guy to be the world champion. Then when he's world champion,
• 36:29
Speaker 2: it's either bad creative or the fans don't care as much,
• 36:32
Speaker 2: or a mixture of both. And I think he's deal
• 36:33
Speaker 2: with both right now. I think there's a mixture of both.
• 36:35
Speaker 2: He is definitely the face of the company. I disagree
• 36:38
Speaker 2: with you there. I think Cody is the face of
• 36:40
Speaker 2: the company. He is the baby face, he is the
• 36:42
Speaker 2: John Cena. I just think that he's kind of slipping
• 36:44
Speaker 2: a little bit with the adult fans.
• 36:47
Speaker 3: Yeah well, I mean, I'm not disagree with him being
• 36:50
Speaker 3: the face of the company because he's everywhere, But in
• 36:53
Speaker 3: this situation with Roman returning it, Roman's the top guy.
• 36:59
Speaker 3: Roman's the the goat of all things right now, and
• 37:03
Speaker 3: he's only been away for five months. So it wasn't
• 37:07
Speaker 3: like this is not the John Cena coming in part
• 37:09
Speaker 3: time role. Where's he's here for three months, gone for
• 37:12
Speaker 3: nine or ten or twelve and then back. You know,
• 37:14
Speaker 3: he's not that part time yet. It just makes you
• 37:18
Speaker 3: nerus because they've spent so much time building up the
• 37:20
Speaker 3: New blood Line and building up, you know, all that
• 37:24
Speaker 3: they really haven't built up anybody else on that brand
• 37:27
Speaker 3: as a top heel, like somebody getting hot to potentially
• 37:32
Speaker 3: challenge Cody, because all their energy has been focused on
• 37:35
Speaker 3: building up the New blood Line.
• 37:36
Speaker 1: That's you. I was hoping for a Randy thing.
• 37:39
Speaker 3: My only my issue with Randy challenging Gunther was the
• 37:43
Speaker 3: last time we saw Randy he was taken out by
• 37:45
Speaker 3: the New blood Line. So wouldn't that Randy Orton wants
• 37:49
Speaker 3: some revenge on that new blood line or blamed Cody
• 37:53
Speaker 3: for being taken out. Instead, they transition him over to
• 37:55
Speaker 3: challenging Gunther, which you could have slit Sammy into that
• 37:59
Speaker 3: spot based on him winning at WrestleMania and had Randy
• 38:04
Speaker 3: turn on Cody, or have Randy challenge Cody just straight.
• 38:07
Speaker 1: Up you know for that title.
• 38:09
Speaker 3: I mean that there's there's just not This is one
• 38:12
Speaker 3: thing that you and I talk about with NXT a lot,
• 38:14
Speaker 3: is they kind of go in cycles where one side,
• 38:17
Speaker 3: like the men's division be really hot, but the women's
• 38:19
Speaker 3: divisions down tag teams in the middle. It feels like
• 38:21
Speaker 3: with with On SmackDown, they just haven't built up anybody
• 38:25
Speaker 3: else underneath the bloodline to be a viable challenger for
• 38:30
Speaker 3: Cody heading into you know, Survivor series season.
• 38:35
Speaker 2: Basically, That's what I was gonna ask you in regards
• 38:38
Speaker 2: to the Randy thing, is if they do the Randy direction,
• 38:41
Speaker 2: would you be down with just like a straight up
• 38:44
Speaker 2: respect I want to get back in the world title picture,
• 38:47
Speaker 2: No real animosity, just a respectful clash between two men.
• 38:51
  Speaker 3: I don't know, well, I mean it's hard, it's hard
• 38:54
Speaker 3: to dislike Randy. Now he's almost in that where it's like,
• 38:59
Speaker 3: no matter what he does, people going to cheer.
• 39:00
Speaker 1: For me because he's rady.
• 39:02
Speaker 2: He could do no wrong. I agree with you.
• 39:04
  Speaker 1: So it's it's tricky.
• 39:05
Speaker 3: And that's where I said, they just you know, you
• 39:07
Speaker 3: have the younger guys like the Carmelo, Hayes and some
• 39:10
Speaker 3: of those other guys they've you know, put on SmackDown
• 39:12
Speaker 3: and you know, the Santos Escobar and guys like that,
• 39:16
Speaker 3: but they just haven't built them up, like Carmelo and
• 39:18
Speaker 3: Cody had a really great match when Carmelo came on
• 39:21
  Speaker 3: the main roster.
• 39:22
  Speaker 1: But there's nothing.
• 39:24
Speaker 3: I mean, it feels like a huge drop off from
• 39:26
Speaker 3: where let's let's say Solo and Logan or your top
• 39:28
Speaker 3: two heels on SmackDown. It's a huge drop to where
• 39:32
Speaker 3: you get to like number three or four. So we're
• 39:35
Speaker 3: on Raw, it's a little more consistent throughout the entire show.
• 39:38
Speaker 3: I mean, hell, they just made Bronton Reed a borderline
• 39:41
Speaker 3: made event guy on Raw Monday Night because of one
• 39:44
Speaker 3: interaction with Seth wrong.
• 39:45
Speaker 1: And we need somebody to kind of do the same
• 39:48
Speaker 1: thing for Cody but also build some credibility up to
• 39:51
Speaker 1: make him feel like a viable threat to the world title.
• 39:55
Speaker 2: Let me pause that right there, because I think this
• 39:56
Speaker 2: could bleed into the next all pun in ten and
• 39:59
Speaker 2: bleed into the next top I want to talk about
• 40:00
Speaker 2: in regards to the bloodline as well, because I do
• 40:02
Speaker 2: think Cody potentially plays a role here. Let's get our
• 40:04
Speaker 2: paperview prediction out of the way. I went five and two,
• 40:06
Speaker 2: Doctrey went six and one. I'm ninety two and twenty
• 40:09
Speaker 2: three in the year doct tray eighty four and thirty
• 40:11
Speaker 2: one Event night and excuse me, event night, event rating
• 40:16
Speaker 2: and Match of the Night. I gave SummerSlam a four
• 40:18
Speaker 2: point three out of five, and I gave my Match
• 40:20
Speaker 2: the Night to live Morgan Rea Ripley, what say you,
• 40:23
  Speaker 2: doctor Trey?
• 40:24
Speaker 1: I was right there with you as a four point
• 40:25
Speaker 1: three and I had Reha live at my Match in
• 40:27
Speaker 1: the night as well.
• 40:28
Speaker 2: Wow, you have it as Match the Night, even though
• 40:29
Speaker 2: you said Guntherr and Damian Priest was matched the Year candidate,
• 40:33
  Speaker 2: it was.
• 40:33
Speaker 3: It was the betrayal, the betrayal to kick off the
• 40:36
Speaker 3: show leading the word like You're like, okay, this is
• 40:38
Speaker 3: gonna be a fun night. This is gonna be like
• 40:41
Speaker 3: that match was just great storytelling as well, Like it
• 40:44
Speaker 3: was really for me, it was one A and one B.
• 40:48
Speaker 1: I just like give them the girl some credit every
• 40:49
Speaker 1: now and then there you go, there you go.
• 40:51
Speaker 2: So let's get into here. How do you want to
• 40:54
Speaker 2: see the Roman Range bloodline storyline play out? Now? I
• 40:57
Speaker 2: think where the Cody aspect plays into this. I would
• 41:01
Speaker 2: not be surprised right now if at Bash in Berlin,
• 41:05
Speaker 2: Doctor Trey, we get a tag team match of Cody
• 41:08
Speaker 2: Roads and Roman Reigns together taking on Solo Sokoa and
• 41:13
  Speaker 2: let's say Tomatunka. I don't think Jacoba two. I think
• 41:19
Speaker 2: they're gonna leave him off of this entire thing. And
• 41:21
Speaker 2: you get that match at Bash of Berlin, and maybe
• 41:25
Speaker 2: that is where the next member of the New bloodline
• 41:28
Speaker 2: comes in, whether it be Hiccoleo who's been rumored to
• 41:30
  Speaker 2: signed with w w W. I think I think maybe
• 41:34
Speaker 2: like Jacob Fattou's brother that is wrestles in GCW. I
• 41:37
Speaker 2: don't know him well. Forgive me if I if I
• 41:39
Speaker 2: have the lineage here or name here incorrect, but I
• 41:44
Speaker 2: could see the bill for the next couple of months,
• 41:46
Speaker 2: which I think adds to your concern of Cody as well.
• 41:50
Speaker 2: I could see Cody Rhoads and Roman Reigns working together here,
• 41:54
Speaker 2: which would be intriguing depending on the execution going forward.
• 41:59
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that is a routher to go.
• 42:01
Speaker 3: One of the things that you years ago, I said this,
• 42:04
Speaker 3: one of the things I used to miss, uh, that
• 42:06
Speaker 3: events kind of got away from the last eight to
• 42:09
Speaker 3: ten years of w W was back when as a kid,
• 42:11
Speaker 3: you'd have these weird tag matches main event pay per views,
• 42:17
Speaker 3: and we saw it.
• 42:17
Speaker 2: A little bit of where we had WrestleMania.
• 42:21
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 42:22
Speaker 3: And then we also had you know, Roman and Solo
• 42:25
Speaker 3: against Kevin Sammy and won the pay per views last
• 42:29
  Speaker 3: year as well.
• 42:30
Speaker 2: I think that was Crown Jewel Crown Jewel, and so.
• 42:32
Speaker 1: They have kind of gotten back to that where you
• 42:34
Speaker 1: could have Cody and Roman team up. So like Mon
• 42:38
Speaker 1: like Friday, I'd love to see you know, Roman come
• 42:42
  Speaker 1: out confront Solo.
• 42:44
Speaker 3: There's a beatdown Cody makes to say, but there's still
• 42:47
Speaker 3: that tension there leading to you know, a tag match
• 42:51
Speaker 3: at you know Class or Bash of Berlin.
• 42:54
Speaker 2: Well the enemy of my enemy, right, Yeah.
• 42:57
Speaker 3: And but there's those uncomfortable betfellows too, and you know,
• 43:00
Speaker 3: like you don't know if Roman's coming for the title.
• 43:03
Speaker 3: That was that that one of the things great things
• 43:05
Speaker 3: about that match at the end, there was the way
• 43:06
Speaker 3: Cody was looking at Roman. You could tell Roman still
• 43:09
Speaker 3: wants his title. Cody doesn't trust him even though what
• 43:12
Speaker 3: he's you know, he just kind of helped him out.
• 43:15
Speaker 3: So there's still that tension there going forth. I had
• 43:19
Speaker 3: loved also if SmackDown kicked off with actually solo ring
• 43:23
Speaker 3: and that Paul Hayman comes out. But I don't think
• 43:25
Speaker 3: we're gonna see Paul for a little bit.
• 43:26
  Speaker 2: I think I think he's back. I think I think
• 43:28
Speaker 2: he's back. I disagree with you. I think Paul makes
• 43:31
  Speaker 2: an appearance here.
• 43:33
Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure he will be back, but I
• 43:35
Speaker 1: mean to me, no.
• 43:36
Speaker 2: On this Friday's edition, I think, oh.
• 43:38
Speaker 1: Okay, that's the case.
• 43:40
Speaker 3: Thing great because one of the things Romans said at
• 43:42
Speaker 3: the Hall of Fame speech for Paul Hayman was you
• 43:44
Speaker 3: would not see Roman reigns without Paul Hayman. But then
• 43:48
Speaker 3: maybe also bash Berlin, we get the return of Jimmy
• 43:50
Speaker 3: Usso to help save Cody and Roman from a beat
• 43:54
Speaker 3: down post match, regardless of the outcome. But you know,
• 43:57
Speaker 3: then you can get the Jimmy factor involved into.
• 43:59
  Speaker 1: It as well.
• 44:00
Speaker 2: I think that maybe if Cody is involved in this,
• 44:03
Speaker 2: he is the lynchpin that helps get Sammy, Zaye and
• 44:07
Speaker 2: Jay usso on board with the OG bloodline. I'm under
• 44:12
Speaker 2: the belief Doctor Trey that at a Survivor Series wargame
• 44:16
Speaker 2: that was just announced in Vancouver or late November, I
• 44:18
Speaker 2: think November thirty, if that, that main event will be
• 44:21
Speaker 2: the current or the bloodline two point zero Solo Soka's
• 44:26
Speaker 2: bloodline and the OG version of the bloodline. And I
• 44:29
Speaker 2: think Jimmy comes back soon, and maybe Cody's the one
• 44:32
Speaker 2: that says like, hey, you know, it goes to you know,
• 44:35
Speaker 2: Jay and Sammy, like you got to talk to Jimmy,
• 44:38
Speaker 2: you got to talk to Roman. Like this is where
• 44:41
Speaker 2: maybe Paul Haman gets evolved. I think that where this
• 44:44
Speaker 2: current chapter is right now, and maybe that's where Cody
• 44:47
Speaker 2: plays a role into it, which is strange because he's
• 44:48
Speaker 2: still the world champion, But maybe this is how like
• 44:51
Speaker 2: Roman is on this forgiveness tour in a way. But
• 44:54
Speaker 2: everybody what's funny is that they despite it being a negative,
• 44:58
Speaker 2: now everybody is like referring to him as the try
• 45:00
Speaker 2: chief and the head of the table all that stuff.
• 45:03
Speaker 2: I think that's where we get to I think Meltzer
• 45:06
Speaker 2: said this week as well in the Wrestling Reserver newsletter
• 45:09
Speaker 2: that he is under belief one of the working plans
• 45:12
Speaker 2: is reportedly that Solo So co versus Roman Reigns takes
• 45:14
Speaker 2: place at WrestleMania. Right now, I would be surprised by
• 45:18
Speaker 2: that because I think they get to that earlier than WrestleMania.
• 45:23
Speaker 2: But maybe the Rock plays some sort of role in
• 45:25
Speaker 2: this as well. But I think in the short term,
• 45:27
Speaker 2: in the next three months, if we're looking at this
• 45:29
Speaker 2: quarterly Doctor Trey, I feel like the Roman Reigns Bloodline
• 45:32
Speaker 2: storyline plays out where Jimmy returns to be sided with
• 45:36
Speaker 2: Roman Reigns, Jay and Sammy get on board to be
• 45:39
Speaker 2: sided with Roman Reigns, and we get to that Survivor
• 45:42
Speaker 2: Series wargame match in late November Bloodline versus Bloodline.
• 45:46
Speaker 1: So are you still thinking as being four on four?
• 45:50
Speaker 2: We have the last one's been The last one was
• 45:52
Speaker 2: just five on five.
• 45:53
Speaker 1: Right, I thought there was We've We've done one that
• 45:57
Speaker 1: was four and four, We've done one that's five on five.
• 45:59
Speaker 2: What was Damian Finn Dominic, JD. Drew McIntyre was five
• 46:04
Speaker 2: on five and I think the one prior to that
• 46:05
Speaker 2: was four on four. So if we do five on five,
• 46:08
Speaker 2: so I think Hickeleo is coming soon to w W,
• 46:13
Speaker 2: so that would be five. If you did solo Jacob
• 46:17
Speaker 2: Tomatunga tungaloa Hiccalo, that's five. I think you do og
• 46:23
Speaker 2: bloodline with those four, Jay, Sammy, Roman and Jimmy, and
• 46:29
Speaker 2: I think the big build up is Cody Rhodes to
• 46:31
Speaker 2: be that fifth and maybe at that same pay per
• 46:34
Speaker 2: view there is some sort of Rock return and that
• 46:38
Speaker 2: is what starts carrying us into the next phase of
• 46:42
Speaker 2: w W, which leads us into Royal Rubble WrestleMania season,
• 46:45
Speaker 2: which I think Cody versus Rock is taking place at
• 46:47
Speaker 2: WrestleMania next year, So maybe Cody is that fifth member
• 46:51
  Speaker 2: Doctor Trey.
• 46:52
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's kind of my thought process.
• 46:54
Speaker 3: But then you know, with the Roman or the Rock
• 46:57
Speaker 3: factor comes in, It's like, maybe we do Solo and
• 46:59
Speaker 3: Roman at Royal Rumble and then you get either Rock
• 47:04
Speaker 3: and Cody and Wrestleming, or you get Rock and Roman
• 47:06
Speaker 3: at Wrestling, Because maybe you get Rock and Cody at
• 47:09
Speaker 3: Rumble like, we don't know how more mania is because
• 47:14
Speaker 3: if you have to do Rock and Roman at some point,
• 47:18
Speaker 3: and Rock's getting older, Roman's getting older, you have to
• 47:22
Speaker 3: pay it off sooner rather than later, I would think,
• 47:26
Speaker 3: because I don't know how much. I mean, as much
• 47:27
Speaker 3: as you and I love the Bloodline story and the
• 47:29
Speaker 3: saga and the family dynamics, this whole thing two year drawout,
• 47:33
Speaker 3: I don't know if they can go two years.
• 47:35
Speaker 1: I mean, that's that seems really really long.
• 47:37
Speaker 3: Adding you to the three years that's already gone, that'd
• 47:41
Speaker 3: be a five six year storyline for the Bloodline. That
• 47:44
Speaker 3: would be really impressive that they can actually pull it
• 47:46
Speaker 3: out and keep our interest that entire time.
• 47:48
  Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I agree, and I'm interested. I mean, I
• 47:51
Speaker 2: feel like they are really getting me interested in everything
• 47:54
Speaker 2: that's going on with with w WI in the Bloodline
• 47:58
Speaker 2: right now, So I think it can go a lot
• 47:59
Speaker 2: of their diferent ways. It's really intriguing. I'm excited to
• 48:03
Speaker 2: see the promo on Friday's edition of SmackDown. I think
• 48:06
Speaker 2: Roman opens the show. I think that's the right way
• 48:08
Speaker 2: to go. If he doesn't open, obviously he's closing, But
• 48:11
Speaker 2: I'd rather have Roman have the open because he is
• 48:16
Speaker 2: free reign at that point and he is not bar
• 48:18
Speaker 2: to any potential time constraints in executing that ankle. So yeah,
• 48:23
Speaker 2: I think short term, we're getting to Survivor series war games,
• 48:26
  Speaker 2: and I agree with you. I don't think that it's
• 48:31
Speaker 2: out of the possibility that Roman solos at Royal Rumble,
• 48:34
Speaker 2: Rock Cody's at Royal Rumble and then you have those guys.
• 48:38
Speaker 2: You know, now would be the time to do Roman
• 48:40
Speaker 2: and Rock at WrestleMania. I think people would care about it.
• 48:43
Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean it's really well executed stuff. The
• 48:46
Speaker 2: Bloodline Dog Trey. The Bloodline may go down overall as
• 48:53
Speaker 2: the greatest storyline in professional wrestling history. I think in
• 48:57
Speaker 2: my time as a Rustling fan, Austin McMahon is definitely
• 49:02
Speaker 2: like a top one for me. I would say nWo
• 49:06
Speaker 2: is up there, but as time has gone on, you've
• 49:08
Speaker 2: kind of seen a lot of holes in the nWo stuff.
• 49:12
Speaker 2: But this bloodline, I think is some of the most captivating,
• 49:16
Speaker 2: cinematic professional wrestling storylines I've ever seen in my life.
• 49:20
  Speaker 2: So I think I think there's a lot of potential
• 49:22
Speaker 2: there and I'm excited for it as we move forward.
• 49:25
Speaker 1: Yeah, for me, I'm a little bit older. I gotta
• 49:26
Speaker 1: throw in. So for me, it was always von.
• 49:28
Speaker 2: Erics, freebirds, ah, true true, true.
• 49:32
Speaker 3: Horseman versus Dusty and whoever Dusty ed with, and whether
• 49:35
Speaker 3: it was Staying Luger, Magnetia, whoever was around, like you know,
• 49:39
  Speaker 3: breaking a man's leg, I mean them breaking Dusty's leg
• 49:42
Speaker 3: and damn Riot breaking out plan.
• 49:44
Speaker 1: It was still pretty awesome as it did. But then
• 49:47
Speaker 1: you know, modern I guess maybe more of the modern
• 49:49
Speaker 1: era Austin McMahon nWo is always up there, even though
• 49:55
Speaker 1: there are holes. But still, I mean that was a
• 49:58
Speaker 1: three four year long program, so that's pretty impressive. And
• 50:02
Speaker 1: then in recent times this has been absolutely the best.
• 50:07
  Speaker 1: I mean it's there's so much interacies.
• 50:10
Speaker 3: I mean, how many You've already built two main event
• 50:12
Speaker 3: level stars out of this outside of Roman with Sammy
• 50:16
Speaker 3: and jay Uso either one gets slide to the main
• 50:18
Speaker 3: event picture and if Jimmy ever just.
• 50:21
Speaker 1: Kind of took off a solo, so you actually have
• 50:23
Speaker 1: built three main event guys out of this angle in
• 50:25
Speaker 1: addition to Romans. So just some really good storytelling overall.
• 50:30
Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, top five storylines of my lifetime
• 50:34
Speaker 1: of forty seven years.
• 50:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's it's it's definitely up there. And another
• 50:39
Speaker 2: good storyline right now, Doc Trey is the Judgment Day
• 50:41
Speaker 2: and I'm referring to it as the Judgment Day Implosion.
• 50:45
Speaker 2: Similar question, a same exact question, not even similar, same
• 50:49
Speaker 2: exact How do we want to see the Judgment Day
• 50:51
Speaker 2: implosion storyline play out? I've been into the Bloodline storyline,
• 50:55
Speaker 2: I've been into the Judgment Day storyline, and I'll share
• 50:59
Speaker 2: a little story with you, and this is I think
• 51:01
Speaker 2: this is cool for me because this is like how
• 51:03
Speaker 2: I felt as a young kid watching wrestling in the nineties.
• 51:06
Speaker 2: I wasn't like emotionally attached to the Summer Slam stuff
• 51:12
Speaker 2: like an old school wrestling fan was, or when I
• 51:15
Speaker 2: was a kid whatever with the Rhea Ripley, you know,
• 51:17
Speaker 2: with Dom and Live turning on Rhea and then Finn
• 51:20
Speaker 2: turning on on Damian Priest. However, when they had that
• 51:25
Speaker 2: promo where Damian Priest's in the ringe calling out Finn
• 51:28
Speaker 2: balad or Finn's on the screen and hits it right
• 51:30
Speaker 2: up against his face and they pan out and it's
• 51:32
Speaker 2: this brand new Judgment Day, I had a moment and
• 51:35
Speaker 2: I still have this moment as I talk about it,
• 51:37
Speaker 2: and silly to say, but I'll say it anyway. I
• 51:39
Speaker 2: was like, those sons of bitches. I cannot wait to
• 51:43
Speaker 2: see Damien Priest and Rita Ripley kick your ass. And
• 51:47
Speaker 2: I love that because that has been lost for me
• 51:50
Speaker 2: as a wrestling fan as the years have gone on,
• 51:52
Speaker 2: and I do the podcast, read the dirt sheet stuff
• 51:54
Speaker 2: like that, I'm like, wow, wait a minute, I am,
• 51:56
Speaker 2: I am into this and I think that's rare for
• 52:00
Speaker 2: today's adult wrestling fan. So I love that. And then
• 52:04
Speaker 2: later on in the night, when Reham made the save,
• 52:07
Speaker 2: Reve got a stone cold pop Doctor Trey. When that
• 52:11
Speaker 2: music dropped, that place went nuts and I have not
• 52:17
Speaker 2: seen something like that at the start of a theme
• 52:21
Speaker 2: song for a save since Stone Cold Steve Austin. I mean,
• 52:26
Speaker 2: they lost their shit. They were so excited to see
• 52:30
Speaker 2: her beat down Dom and Live Morgan, who were attacking
• 52:34
Speaker 2: Damien Priest at the time. Props at wa. I loved it,
• 52:39
Speaker 2: and I can't wait to see how this storyline continues
• 52:42
Speaker 2: to play out. I don't think it will be as
• 52:44
Speaker 2: long as the bloodline stuff that we will potentially see
• 52:47
Speaker 2: over the next six to twelve months. Or maybe three
• 52:48
Speaker 2: to six months, but I think it has some good
• 52:50
Speaker 2: longevity here for the rest of twenty twenty four at least.
• 52:54
Speaker 3: Yeah, so longtime listeners know of this show, know that
• 52:58
Speaker 3: Sean Michael's my favorite reservot. And when Sean lost in
• 53:02
Speaker 3: WrestleMania at thirteen, it made me sad because I knew
• 53:05
Speaker 3: Sean was going away. But what we saw on Monday
• 53:08
Speaker 3: Night when they panned out and you got that shot
• 53:10
Speaker 3: of I'm saying the new Judgment Day, you know, but
• 53:14
Speaker 3: it's basically just the newest members of the Judgment Day Finn,
• 53:18
Speaker 3: you know, Carlito, j D and Dom and Lived. It
• 53:22
Speaker 3: reminded me of when they when they when they put
• 53:26
Speaker 3: Triple h An X, Pog, Billy Gunn and a road
• 53:29
Speaker 3: Dog together to kick off the Monday Night after WrestleMania
• 53:32
Speaker 3: at thirteen and the beat down of Chainsaw Charlie and
• 53:36
Speaker 3: Cactus Jack, and you're just like kind of that same thing,
• 53:39
Speaker 3: like you son of bitches, like their back, like they
• 53:42
Speaker 3: just read they cut the head off of the snake,
• 53:44
Speaker 3: and the snake just said, no, We're just gonna keep,
• 53:47
Speaker 3: you know, biting at you. So it reminded me a
• 53:50
Speaker 3: little bit of that and like, Okay, Damien's out, Rhea
• 53:53
  Speaker 3: is out.
• 53:53
Speaker 1: We're still strong, and we're gonna call it. And and
• 53:56
Speaker 1: that line of Benn saying that in every time you know,
• 54:00
Speaker 1: it may not be right away, it may not be now,
• 54:02
Speaker 1: but every time you turn your back, I'm gonna be
• 54:05
Speaker 1: there to stab it again and again again. I have
• 54:07
Speaker 1: never heard anybody use backstabbing that way. And I was like,
• 54:11
Speaker 1: that's a really damn good promo.
• 54:13
Speaker 3: And I think this is a way of maybe re
• 54:16
Speaker 3: energizing Finn Balor his character in WWE, because I mean,
• 54:21
Speaker 3: this is the first ever Universal Champion.
• 54:23
Speaker 1: You know, he was an NXT.
• 54:24
Speaker 3: You know, he's a triple AH guy in NXT, but
• 54:26
Speaker 3: he's kind of been since he joined the Judgment Day.
• 54:30
Speaker 3: At first we thought it was gonna be his group,
• 54:32
Speaker 3: and he always kind of fell to the side for
• 54:34
Speaker 3: Rha and and Damien. So maybe it's the way of
• 54:36
Speaker 3: re energizing his career as well now that he's in
• 54:41
Speaker 3: his mid thirties as well. So it's a way to
• 54:43
Speaker 3: kind of reinvigorate Finn Balor.
• 54:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's really exciting stuff and I think again
• 54:48
Speaker 2: it's been executed really well. I've loved the stuff that
• 54:51
Speaker 2: led into it. There was those like red herrings that
• 54:53
Speaker 2: they had were I think there was a couple of
• 54:56
Speaker 2: shots where like people were coming into Raw a couple
• 54:58
Speaker 2: of months ago, and there was a on the background
• 55:01
Speaker 2: and in one shot Finn Baler walks out of the car,
• 55:04
Speaker 2: and then in the next shot later on Live Morgan
• 55:06
Speaker 2: comes out of the same car. And then there was
• 55:08
Speaker 2: stuff where uh Dominic and Live were coming out of
• 55:11
Speaker 2: the same dressing room during like backstage vignettes, and they
• 55:15
Speaker 2: had gotten away from that for a little bit, but
• 55:17
Speaker 2: obviously with fans and us as guys doing the podcaster,
• 55:20
Speaker 2: we always felt like this was the way that was
• 55:21
Speaker 2: going to go. And I just really loved again the
• 55:25
Speaker 2: attention to detail. I mean, you have some really really
• 55:28
Speaker 2: strong storylines carrying w right now, whether it is this
• 55:32
Speaker 2: beginning stages of this new chapter of the Bloodline on SmackDown,
• 55:35
Speaker 2: if it's a true McIntyre and cmpunk on Monday Night Raw,
• 55:39
Speaker 2: if it's the Judgment Day implosion on Monday Night Raw
• 55:42
Speaker 2: as well. So I don't think that this has the
• 55:45
Speaker 2: same longevity, but I think if it's if it's really good,
• 55:49
Speaker 2: it could And you know, Damien has been made into
• 55:53
  Speaker 2: a babyface. Damien's been a star, Rhea has been a
• 55:56
Speaker 2: star for years. I think Damien obviously kind of trailed
• 55:59
Speaker 2: a little bit behind. I think fans are really behind
• 56:01
Speaker 2: him right now. Agreed, we're finded a little bit of rejuvenation.
• 56:05
Speaker 2: I like that Carlito and JD McDonough are getting some
• 56:07
Speaker 2: love in this as well. Live. I would say the
• 56:11
Speaker 2: only thing that maybe I don't like Doctor Trey is
• 56:14
Speaker 2: that the Women's Champion is kind of arm candy in
• 56:18
Speaker 2: the short term. I think Live is such a stronger
• 56:20
Speaker 2: character that she doesn't need to be that like main
• 56:24
Speaker 2: squeeze arm candy around Dominic Mysterio who has been rejuvenated
• 56:28
Speaker 2: as audastardly heeled that everybody should hate as well.
• 56:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the.
• 56:32
Speaker 3: Thing with Live and this is gonna be something that
• 56:34
Speaker 3: she always runs into is just she's just so small
• 56:39
Speaker 3: that she's going to need somebody as a heel to
• 56:43
Speaker 3: kind of help buffer her a little bit. So I
• 56:46
Speaker 3: don't hate it as much. I understand where you're coming
• 56:49
Speaker 3: from with it, because she is the Women's Champion. She's
• 56:52
Speaker 3: strong enough and her character's good enough. But I think
• 56:56
Speaker 3: with this the way her her character's kind of gone.
• 56:59
Speaker 3: It makes sense to put her as part of the group,
• 57:01
Speaker 3: have Dom be around because there now you can have
• 57:05
Speaker 3: Dom help her win.
• 57:06
Speaker 1: And because she's so small, it makes sense where you know,
• 57:09
Speaker 1: God helping Riha where Hellria was like the third biggest
• 57:13
Speaker 1: member in the judgment day.
• 57:15
Speaker 3: You know, as far as size wise, didn't always make
• 57:18
Speaker 3: a ton of sense when she was wrestling much smaller opponents.
• 57:20
Speaker 3: With with Live having Don by her side, it makes
• 57:23
Speaker 3: a lot of sense because everybody outside of Alexa Bliss
• 57:27
Speaker 3: on the raw women's side is bigger than Live. So
• 57:30
  Speaker 3: I don't hate it as much because I think I
• 57:33
Speaker 3: know where they're going with that.
• 57:34
Speaker 2: On August eighth, if we were doing the award show today,
• 57:37
Speaker 2: is Live Moregan You're Women's Wrestler of the Year.
• 57:45
Speaker 1: Probably yeah, I would say probably.
• 57:48
Speaker 3: She's She's had the most character development and her end
• 57:51
Speaker 3: ring work has just gotten so much better just even
• 57:55
Speaker 3: in the last year.
• 57:56
Speaker 1: So it might be between her and Baylee and Nya,
• 58:01
Speaker 1: like the three of them.
• 58:02
Speaker 3: Ria's three or four month absence does kind of hurt
• 58:04
Speaker 3: her a little bit, so it makes it a little bit.
• 58:07
Speaker 3: You know, typically Ria one airbels from chasing her, but
• 58:11
Speaker 3: lives had the most development, you know, since her return
• 58:13
Speaker 3: at the Rumble, and it's hard to argue against them.
• 58:16
Speaker 2: Damien is Damian Priese if it was all ended today,
• 58:18
Speaker 2: is Damien Price a breakout star of the.
• 58:20
Speaker 1: Year, breakout star of the year. Hmmm uh for me,
• 58:26
Speaker 1: it's him and Osprey.
• 58:31
  Speaker 2: Okay, I think that's fair. I think that's very fair
• 58:34
Speaker 2: given some thought, I think that's very fair. I think
• 58:38
Speaker 2: the really interesting case in this entire thing is how
• 58:44
Speaker 2: when it comes to this implosion is how do they
• 58:48
Speaker 2: end it with Rhea and Damien going off on their own.
• 58:51
Speaker 2: That to me, the final execution of this all I
• 58:56
Speaker 2: think will be the most telling thing moving forward. Doctor Try.
• 59:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be hard. On one hand, it's kind
• 59:03
  Speaker 1: of hard.
• 59:03
Speaker 3: To separate them because you know, you're it's two people
• 59:06
Speaker 3: fighting five It's really hard to be, really hard to
• 59:10
Speaker 3: separate them for a while. I think what they go
• 59:12
Speaker 3: is is once this kind of dies down, you see
• 59:17
Speaker 3: Damien go back after Gunther and Rea reclaims all of
• 59:21
Speaker 3: the championship, they go on their back. They can kind
• 59:23
Speaker 3: of do the same thing we saw with the Shield
• 59:24
Speaker 3: for years, where whenever needed, you can bring them back
• 59:27
Speaker 3: together because they have this uh history and chemistry built
• 59:32
Speaker 3: between them now, but yeah, it's gonna be kind of
• 59:35
  Speaker 3: hard to see.
• 59:36
Speaker 1: Like, of course, the good guys win in the end,
• 59:40
  Speaker 1: But the.
• 59:40
Speaker 3: Other thing is do they add in and to do
• 59:43
Speaker 3: they draw people in to help them battle the Judgment Day?
• 59:47
Speaker 3: And to me, the Judgment Day needs one more big guy.
• 59:49
Speaker 3: Nobody on that Nobody on that team is over two
• 59:51
Speaker 3: hundred and thirty pounds. They need one more big guy
• 59:54
Speaker 3: in their arsenal. So I would expect somebody from some
• 59:57
Speaker 3: big guy from NXT to eventually come up, or they
• 1:00:00
Speaker 3: recruit somebody else to kind of fill out the blood.
• 1:00:02
Speaker 1: Or the Judgment Day.
• 1:00:04
Speaker 2: Then finally, the last thing I want to talk about
• 1:00:06
Speaker 2: here is now our early expectations for Gunther's World of
• 1:00:09
Speaker 2: aweight Championship. Rain he has held and this is something
• 1:00:11
Speaker 2: they're promoting in WE television right now. He held the
• 1:00:13
Speaker 2: NXCUK Championship for about I think eight hundred days, the
• 1:00:18
Speaker 2: Intercontinent Old Championship for a record six hundred plus days.
• 1:00:22
Speaker 2: The expectation here is the World of a Weight Championship
• 1:00:24
Speaker 2: will be held for probably nearly the same or close
• 1:00:28
Speaker 2: to or they're going to pump it up as potentially
• 1:00:30
Speaker 2: being that long, and that's kind of Gunther's game. So
• 1:00:33
Speaker 2: maybe we're seeing something where a world title reign is
• 1:00:36
Speaker 2: taking place for the next six to twelve months. What
• 1:00:39
Speaker 2: are the early expectations here, dot Trey Mine. I think
• 1:00:42
Speaker 2: Gunther at this point is entering WrestleMania as a World
• 1:00:45
Speaker 2: of Awaight champion. I think a match with Sammy Zain
• 1:00:49
Speaker 2: who wins to the Royal Rumble, is one that would
• 1:00:51
Speaker 2: take place at WrestleMania one year later from the New
• 1:00:53
Speaker 2: contin Old Championship match because that was a very compellit
• 1:00:55
Speaker 2: storyline in feud, and I think Sammy eventually goes over
• 1:00:59
Speaker 2: him in the next Yeah, six to twelve months as
• 1:01:02
Speaker 2: the new World Away champion, but I think this is
• 1:01:04
  Speaker 2: a dominating reign. I think it's matches that we're sitting
• 1:01:07
Speaker 2: here going this is what we expect from Gunther Match
• 1:01:09
Speaker 2: of the Night potentially. I'm excited for Gunther as the
• 1:01:13
Speaker 2: World of Weight Champion on the Raw brand. But what
• 1:01:15
Speaker 2: are your early expectations for this run moving forward?
• 1:01:18
Speaker 3: No, I'm excited because I'm a huge fan of Gunther, like,
• 1:01:20
Speaker 3: I love watching him wrestling. He's one of my favorite
• 1:01:23
Speaker 3: performers in wrestling to day.
• 1:01:25
  Speaker 1: It does.
• 1:01:26
Speaker 3: The nervousness about it for me is when you look
• 1:01:29
Speaker 3: at that roster, you could say that he's maybe the
• 1:01:34
Speaker 3: fourth most popular person, Like you look at the pecking order,
• 1:01:39
Speaker 3: He's going to fall behind rawlins Back and Tire and
• 1:01:41
Speaker 3: Punk for the immediate future. And so unless they shake
• 1:01:44
Speaker 3: up the roster when the show goes to Netflix or something,
• 1:01:48
Speaker 3: how long can you.
• 1:01:49
Speaker 1: Have your world champion be the fourth or fifth guy
• 1:01:53
  Speaker 1: on your roster?
• 1:01:55
Speaker 3: At some point, you know, I kind of expect, you know,
• 1:01:59
Speaker 3: Drew to get a shot gun the Punk to get
• 1:02:01
Speaker 3: a shot at Gunther. Wrong, some one of those bigger
• 1:02:03
Speaker 3: names is going to have to get into this world
• 1:02:05
Speaker 3: title picture. Otherwise it's just weird. It's gonna be like AWESQ,
• 1:02:10
Speaker 3: where sometimes the world title is not the most important
• 1:02:14
Speaker 3: thing on the show for months at a time. And
• 1:02:17
Speaker 3: that's that's my only nervousness about this. And it may
• 1:02:21
Speaker 3: take them shaking up the roster, moving some guys around
• 1:02:24
Speaker 3: to kind of bounce it all out.
• 1:02:25
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's it'll be interesting. I think the one
• 1:02:31
Speaker 2: thing with guntherro doctor tref I had one knock on
• 1:02:33
Speaker 2: him and he doesn't need it at all, But I
• 1:02:37
Speaker 2: would like to see it is I always have felt
• 1:02:39
Speaker 2: like that there's like a lack of compellities storyline with Gunther,
• 1:02:42
Speaker 2: and I think if there's gonna be one thing that
• 1:02:45
Speaker 2: needs potentially exposed of him going forward is as a character,
• 1:02:50
Speaker 2: he's a little one dimensional as a wrestler. It could
• 1:02:54
Speaker 2: be formulaic and similar at times. I think that those
• 1:02:59
Speaker 2: could be a little bit of a I would love
• 1:03:01
Speaker 2: to see the character catch up to the wrestler as well,
• 1:03:06
Speaker 2: and I would like to see him in an equal
• 1:03:08
Speaker 2: compelling feud storyline, one that is comparable to Drew mcatarcy
• 1:03:13
Speaker 2: and punk bloodline, Judgment day stuff, because I would love
• 1:03:17
Speaker 2: to see that area that aspect of Gunther's character.
• 1:03:22
Speaker 3: I think what you're seeing right now is he misses
• 1:03:24
Speaker 3: having Ludvig Kaiser with him, not that he needs a mouthpiece.
• 1:03:29
Speaker 3: I think you saw them start that path with the
• 1:03:33
Speaker 3: promos heading in a SummerSlam, you know, the empty arena
• 1:03:37
Speaker 3: promos and things like that. He is a little bit
• 1:03:40
Speaker 3: one dimensional. The Ring of Sacred, the rest of the
• 1:03:42
Speaker 3: ring general, that type of thing. He needs a little
• 1:03:45
  Speaker 3: bit more depth.
• 1:03:46
Speaker 1: You also saw him kiss his wife after we We'll
• 1:03:50
Speaker 1: tell you saw Jenny out there and I was like, oh,
• 1:03:52
Speaker 1: that's something new from Gunther we haven't seen. I think
• 1:03:57
Speaker 1: he does need either somebody he needs, Lackey's he needs.
• 1:04:02
Speaker 3: If you're a general, you have an army. He doesn't
• 1:04:04
Speaker 3: have an army right now, so I think, you know
• 1:04:07
Speaker 3: he'll need that at some point to give him a
• 1:04:09
Speaker 3: little more death. But plus it also creates compelling storylines
• 1:04:12
Speaker 3: if he beraates somebody at the point where they turn
• 1:04:14
Speaker 3: against him and then make a healer or another baby
• 1:04:17
Speaker 3: face out of it. But it's hard to build him
• 1:04:23
Speaker 3: when right now he's the third or fourth most compelling
• 1:04:27
Speaker 3: thing on the show. You got the Judgment Day implosion,
• 1:04:29
Speaker 3: you got Real, you got Damian Finn, Rhea, Live, Punk McIntyre, Rollins,
• 1:04:34
Speaker 3: Bronson Reid, and then Gumper's over here.
• 1:04:38
Speaker 1: It's gonna be kind of it's kind of hard.
• 1:04:39
Speaker 3: To build that character up when he's not the focal
• 1:04:42
Speaker 3: point of the show going forward for the next couple months.
• 1:04:45
Speaker 2: Probably we're seeing that with both World Champions, isn't it
• 1:04:48
  Speaker 2: right now?
• 1:04:49
  Speaker 1: Yeah?
• 1:04:49
Speaker 2: I think obviously Cody has a better chance of getting
• 1:04:51
Speaker 2: back in the focal point, But you're seeing that with
• 1:04:53
Speaker 2: both World Champions, which is bizarre.
• 1:04:55
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little bit of it, like we said.
• 1:04:57
Speaker 3: Like I said, it's a little bit of the issue
• 1:04:58
Speaker 3: that AEW's had in the past, where where you're wanting
• 1:05:01
Speaker 3: to try and build new stars up by putting the
• 1:05:03
Speaker 3: title on them, but until they really get over with
• 1:05:09
Speaker 3: the crowd, it's kind of hard when you have bigger
• 1:05:12
Speaker 3: stars off doing other stuff not related to what the
• 1:05:15
  Speaker 3: World Champions doing.
• 1:05:17
Speaker 2: Something to think about for next week's edition of the
• 1:05:19
Speaker 2: podcast as we organically sit here, because we just talked
• 1:05:21
Speaker 2: about with Cody, We've talked about with guntherro We mentioned
• 1:05:24
Speaker 2: it with Bailey as well, and I think you can
• 1:05:25
Speaker 2: make a case with it about Damian Priest. Just something
• 1:05:27
Speaker 2: to think about here. Maybe if I remember, I'll write
• 1:05:30
Speaker 2: it down here. We'll bring it up on next week's show.
• 1:05:33
Speaker 2: Is WWE Creative having a tough time booking the World
• 1:05:36
Speaker 2: Champions because some of the most compelling feuds now don't
• 1:05:41
Speaker 2: involve a world title. And this is also coming off
• 1:05:44
Speaker 2: of a period of time where the Bloodline had a
• 1:05:46
Speaker 2: world title in there and it was very compelling, but
• 1:05:51
Speaker 2: it was it because the world title. But love Cody,
• 1:05:54
Speaker 2: love Gunther, They're not a compelling storylines right now, everything
• 1:05:57
Speaker 2: else that is compelling does not have a world title involved.
• 1:06:01
Speaker 2: So I'm gonna think about Doctor Tren. I mean we'll
• 1:06:03
Speaker 2: talk about here in next week's edition to pod.
• 1:06:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, absolutely right, thanks a lot of sense.
