- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Dutch with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and today we're diving into something that, honestly, we all deal with sometimes. Luna: Hi Lucas! I'm curious — what is it? Is it about food again? Because I'm always ready for food talk. Lucas: Sort of. It's about that feeling after eating too much. You know, when your belly feels heavy and it hurts a bit? Luna: Oh, that's the worst. I had that yesterday after a big meal. So today we're learning how to say that in Dutch? Lucas: Exactly. We're going to learn two important body parts: buik and maag. And then we'll practice saying 'my stomach hurts' in a few ways. Luna: Great. Before we start, I just want to say — if Fexingo has been helping you learn Dutch, maybe consider supporting us. It keeps the show ad-free and helps us keep making these little lessons. Lucas: Yeah, we really appreciate it. You can do that at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. No pressure, just if you find this useful. Luna: Exactly. Now, back to buik. So, Lucas, how do I say 'belly'? Lucas: It's 'de buik.' Let's say it together: de buik. Luna: De buik. That's not too hard. De buik. Lucas: And 'stomach' is 'de maag.' Say it with me: de maag. Luna: De maag. Sounds like it could be a character from a Dutch fairy tale. Lucas: Maybe. Now, if your belly hurts, you say 'Mijn buik doet pijn.' Luna: Mijn buik doet pijn. So that's 'my belly hurts.' Lucas: Exactly. And if it's more about your stomach specifically, you can say 'Ik heb een maagpijn.' Luna: Ik heb een maagpijn. That's longer, but I like it. It sounds serious. Lucas: It is serious. And a more common way is 'Ik heb buikpijn.' That means 'I have stomach pain.' Luna: Ik heb buikpijn. Okay, I think I can remember that. Lucas: Let's do a quick practice. I'll say a phrase, and you repeat it. Ready? Luna: Ready. Lucas: Mijn buik doet pijn. Luna: Mijn buik doet pijn. Lucas: Ik heb een maagpijn. Luna: Ik heb een maagpijn. Lucas: Ik heb buikpijn. Luna: Ik heb buikpijn. That's fun to say, actually. Lucas: It is. Now, let's put this into a tiny scene. Imagine you're at a friend's house, and you ate too much. You can say 'Mijn buik doet pijn.' Luna: And they ask, 'Wat is er aan de hand?' So I say 'Ik heb buikpijn.' Lucas: Perfect. And if they offer you some tea, you can say 'Ja, graag.' Luna: Nice. So we have the words and the phrases. Let's review them one more time. Lucas: Sure. The body parts: de buik, de maag. Luna: De buik, de maag. Lucas: And the phrases: Mijn buik doet pijn. Ik heb een maagpijn. Ik heb buikpijn. Luna: Mijn buik doet pijn. Ik heb een maagpijn. Ik heb buikpijn. Lucas: Awesome. Now, if you have a stomachache, you know exactly what to say. And remember, practice makes perfect. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. This was a short but useful episode. Keep practicing, everyone, and we'll catch you next time on Learn Dutch with Fexingo. Lucas: Tot ziens!
