- 0:07Speaker 1: All right, Barbenheimer. Yes, remember Barbenheimer, I did, Barbenheimer, Barbenheim,
- 0:16Speaker 1: I did, all right. Well, now that worked out for everybody,
- 0:22Speaker 1: both movie companies, both films. Everybody won with Barbenheim because
- 0:28Speaker 1: the movie companies were smart enough to let it happen.
- 0:30Speaker 1: They embraced it. Yeah, if only these people were as smart.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Some theater owners starved for big movies. I wish the
- 0:40Speaker 1: wealth could be spreading it out over time. The biggest
- 0:44Speaker 1: fantasy hero battle in Hollywood is shaping up over the
- 0:47Speaker 1: release of December eighteen, Warner Brothers and Legendaries Dune Part
- 0:52Speaker 1: three versus Disney and Marvel's Avengers Doomsday on the same day,
- 0:58Speaker 1: same day, December eighteenth. They've officially claimed same release date.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Now they've said this for months, and that means that
- 1:10Speaker 1: a time when you know theaters are starving to fill seats,
- 1:13Speaker 1: two of the year's biggest anticipated films are set to
- 1:18Speaker 1: arrive on the exact same day. Now there was a
- 1:21Speaker 1: theater on a says someone's got a move. That's a
- 1:25Speaker 1: level of overwhelm. That doesn't make any sense, especially after
- 1:29Speaker 1: the last few years. An Avengers movie and Done three
- 1:32Speaker 1: are both sure things. Sure, no matter when you release them,
- 1:37Speaker 1: no one is blinking, and Dune has already won one battle.
- 1:43Speaker 1: They managed to get smart and secure the Imax theaters first. Well,
- 1:49Speaker 1: and they've got a move. So yeah, you'll see Dune
- 1:55Speaker 1: three and Imax you won't see Doom's Day, you know,
- 1:59Speaker 1: I mean this, They could just move it. Yeah, one
- 2:04Speaker 1: of them could move. I know that they only keep
- 2:07Speaker 1: them in the Imax for what a week or two,
- 2:09Speaker 1: a couple of weeks, three weeks maybe if they're big.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I mean, I know, Marvel has Spider Man coming out
- 2:16Speaker 1: in May, and then they want to spread things out. But
- 2:20Speaker 1: this is just a no brainer. You guys. Come on,
- 2:24Speaker 1: all right, I'm gonna talk a little Star Trek here. Okay,
- 2:28Speaker 1: it's nothing but bad news. Oh no, sorry, sorry, nothing
- 2:32Speaker 1: but bad news for Star Trek. The latest Star Trek show,
- 2:37Speaker 1: which was renewed for its second season back in twenty
- 2:40Speaker 1: twenty four, the one with Holly Hunter. Yeah, it was
- 2:43Speaker 1: approved for two seasons, Starfleet Academy, which I've been enjoying.
- 2:49Speaker 1: The bros that are going to be taking over Paramount
- 2:53Speaker 1: have said, no, we're not going to continue with that one. No,
- 2:57Speaker 1: it's doing, it's not doing as well because of these
- 3:02Speaker 1: very few numbered but very loud people on social media.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Here's another thing that I don't understand why the movie
- 3:09Speaker 1: companies pay attention to these people on social media because
- 3:13Speaker 1: they are in the minority, but they're very loud. I
- 3:16Speaker 1: get that, But I guess they think they influence a
- 3:20Speaker 1: lot of people. They think they do, and maybe they do,
- 3:23Speaker 1: because these people have been screeching about, oh, it's woke
- 3:26Speaker 1: Star Trek. Star Trek has always been woke, but I
- 3:30Speaker 1: mean and it has failed to chart on the Nielsen's
- 3:32Speaker 1: top ten streaming viewership tables, but other shows have gotten
- 3:36Speaker 1: renewed with less. So you're going to see season two
- 3:42Speaker 1: and then that will be it. So in the post
- 3:44Speaker 1: sky Dance merger, they haven't said anything about Star Trek
- 3:48Speaker 1: except we're looking at a movie. We don't know what
- 3:51Speaker 1: it'll be, but it probably won't be any of the
- 3:54Speaker 1: existing characters or franchises, something totally new, to which I
- 3:59Speaker 1: would say to them, you know, there's a series of
- 4:01Speaker 1: books by Peter David that are very good that take
- 4:05Speaker 1: place on the uss ex caliber which falls where which
- 4:10Speaker 1: is more next gen timeline? Okay, but try that. Meanwhile,
- 4:17Speaker 1: you got the guy who wrote the Martian and this
- 4:20Speaker 1: new movie Andy Were Project Tail Mary. I saw it yesterday,
- 4:25Speaker 1: Project Cam you did. I went by myself and I
- 4:28Speaker 1: loved it. It was great. Okay, this makes me not
- 4:32Speaker 1: like Andy were. Oh no, what happened here? He was
- 4:36Speaker 1: being interviewed. I pitched a Star Trek show to Paramount.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I was in Zoom with the showrunners with all the
- 4:44Speaker 1: shows that spent a lot of time talking to Alex Kurtzman.
- 4:47Speaker 1: He's the guy who's behind these new Star Trek shows,
- 4:50Speaker 1: he says, I don't like a lot of the new
- 4:52Speaker 1: Star Trek. He as a person is a really nice guy.
- 4:55Speaker 1: But at the same time, the shows he makes are s.
- 5:00Speaker 1: He's a nice guy. He's a nice guy, but they
- 5:02Speaker 1: didn't accept my pitch. So you know FM oh so
- 5:05Speaker 1: he's yeah, well, he goes on. Oh. I dislike social commentary,
- 5:14Speaker 1: Like I really hate it. When I'm reading a book,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I just want to be entertained and not preached at
- 5:19Speaker 1: by the author. Plus, it ruins the wonder of why
- 5:21Speaker 1: the story. It ruins the wonder of the story. If
- 5:25Speaker 1: I know the author has a political or social acts
- 5:27Speaker 1: to grind, I no longer speculate about all possible outcomes.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Of the story because I know for a fact that
- 5:32Speaker 1: the universe of that book will conspire to ensure what
- 5:35Speaker 1: the author's political agenda is validated. I hate that I
- 5:39Speaker 1: put no politics or social commentary into my stories at all.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Anyone who thinks they see something like that is reading
- 5:46Speaker 1: into it on their own. I have no point to make.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I'm not trying to affect a reader's opinion on anything.
- 5:52Speaker 1: My sole job is to entertain, and I stick to that.
- 5:55Speaker 1: For instance, as a lifelong Start Trek fan, Lie, it's
- 6:03Speaker 1: always bothered me that there is a presumed responsibility within
- 6:07Speaker 1: Star Trek shows to talk about social issues. I just
- 6:10Speaker 1: want to watch Romulans and the Federation shoot at each other.
- 6:13Speaker 1: That's never been the show. What Star Trek has he
- 6:15Speaker 1: been watching? I don't have That's never show. It's been
- 6:19Speaker 1: about social and it's and oftentimes with a big hammer
- 6:24Speaker 1: beating you over the head with it. Yes, half black
- 6:29Speaker 1: and half white. Well he's black on the left side,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I'm black on the right side. I mean, yeah, it
- 6:35Speaker 1: was humbling you with the message. Yes, but it's always
- 6:39Speaker 1: been that. That's that was the point of Star Trek.
- 6:43Speaker 1: So Andy, where you say, you're like anybody who says,
- 6:46Speaker 1: I'm a longtime Star Trek fan, and then they say
- 6:49Speaker 1: stuff like that. I'm like, what Trek have you been watching?
- 6:51Speaker 1: I think you've been watching maybe something else. And finally
- 6:55Speaker 1: this while I was walking around Disneyland and looking at
- 6:59Speaker 1: stuff that they have for ale, and there were many
- 7:02Speaker 1: many items I didn't okay, I bought two little things, okay,
- 7:07Speaker 1: because you know I'm getting rid of Yeah, you're going
- 7:09Speaker 1: the other way. Rob found me a lego key chain
- 7:12Speaker 1: of rocket raccoon. Oh well, yeah you had to. I
- 7:15Speaker 1: had to get that, and a pin of rocket raccoon
- 7:19Speaker 1: not taking up any space. There were several things that
- 7:23Speaker 1: I was looking at. First of all, there's a Daredevil helmet.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Nearly did it. Then there was the Tony Stark has
- 7:32Speaker 1: a heart glass cube that you know Pepper gave Tony
- 7:35Speaker 1: and he pulled the thing up. I nearly got that.
- 7:39Speaker 1: And then Rob pointed to this C three p O head.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Oh the lights up. He said, well, here there you go.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I said, I'm going to pass on that. Maybe I
- 7:50Speaker 1: should have gotten it because for one hundred dollars I
- 7:52Speaker 1: could have it, not a million dollars. Yeah, they've been
- 7:56Speaker 1: auctioning off the props. The actual prop, the actual props,
- 8:01Speaker 1: and this is the show the picture there would you?
- 8:05Speaker 1: This is the light up Sea three PO head from
- 8:07Speaker 1: the Empire Strikes Back. It's the one you know where
- 8:09Speaker 1: Chewy's trying to put three po back together? Is that Chewy? No?
- 8:18Speaker 1: But this is the actual one, and it's you know,
- 8:21Speaker 1: the eyes light up and everything. Went for a million
- 8:23Speaker 1: dollars in the It's not even the whole C three
- 8:27Speaker 1: it's just a head just ahead. What's the best part.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I could have got it for a hundred but yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 1: there's They're doing a huge auction of all kinds of things.
- 8:38Speaker 1: And now this is not even the biggest Star Wars
- 8:41Speaker 1: prop that has been sold. I mean, remember Darth Vader's
- 8:45Speaker 1: lightsaber went for three point sixty five to four million.
- 8:51Speaker 1: An X Wing starfighter model that was used in the
- 8:54Speaker 1: making of the first movie, because you see kids, they
- 8:56Speaker 1: used to make the models instead of in the computers.
- 8:59Speaker 1: They actually physically he made them. That went for three
- 9:01Speaker 1: point one three five. But they've got a lot of
- 9:05Speaker 1: stuff that they are auctioning off, including Quint's remember his
- 9:11Speaker 1: harpoon gun? Yeah from Jaws. Oh carry you need that? Well,
- 9:16Speaker 1: it's already sold. It went for three hundred and twenty
- 9:19Speaker 1: seven thousand dollars. But yeah, this is a that's you
- 9:23Speaker 1: get the whole case, you get the gun, you get
- 9:26Speaker 1: all that. Anyway, I should have known that wasn't Chewi Chu.
- 9:30Speaker 1: He didn't wear a plaid shirt. No, it wears a
- 9:33Speaker 1: hair shirt. Yeah, exactly. I don't know how I misidentified
- 9:39Speaker 1: him like that. Well, yeah,
