- 0:00But what about Bell Maker Management Fantasy Hockey
- 0:02podcast? Whoa.
- 0:03Whoa, whoa. I was so ready.
- 0:07I don't know, I got I got hyped up talking about Meet the
- 0:11Fockers before the episode. And there would you say that
- 0:13word. Yeah.
- 0:16To meet the bleep. Actually, it's it's true.
- 0:20It is a name. Welcome in everybody to Bangor
- 0:25Management fantasy occupied cast.
- 0:28Keep me on my toes. Were you welcome to?
- 0:30This is how it feels. This is how it feels all the
- 0:32time with your favorite host, Jake, Josh and Kevork.
- 0:37I feel like we're we're recording a person today.
- 0:39So I had to say Kevork. I don't know why.
- 0:41Back like old time? Yeah, could work.
- 0:43Exactly so back, baby. Yes, big time today.
- 0:47Very, very fun episode. We are going to be doing our
- 0:50rankings for the Metropolitan Division.
- 0:54Pretty, I would say pretty standard.
- 0:56Not the most spicy of divisions still, definitely there will be
- 1:00some. Some back and forth and some.
- 1:02This is why you suck at life. Yeah, I think.
- 1:06I think this division is the easiest one in terms of like,
- 1:08you know which teams are at the bottom, you know which team are
- 1:10gonna be at the top, you know teams are gonna be in the
- 1:11middle. It's just about the order.
- 1:13Exactly, Yeah, yeah. I mean there's a clear bottom
- 1:154IN top four and then it's just messing around with the exact.
- 1:18Order would say bottom three, top four and then one of the.
- 1:26I don't know. We didn't all agree on the
- 1:27middle. 1 yeah. Yeah, before we begin, please
- 1:32follow us on Spotify, Apple Podcast, wherever you get your
- 1:35podcasts. Rate US five stars.

- 1:41description. We're new to both TikTok and
- 1:44Discord, growing Discord community.
- 1:46We appreciate everyone who's joined already and we welcome in
- 1:49everyone. Of course, it's a really fun
- 1:50time in there. We're gonna go nuts in there.
- 1:57I don't know why I feel like after I said something I had to
- 2:00look at you. Josh had a longer loaded.
- 2:04I was lost. I wasn't.
- 2:05Gonna say anything and then they looked at me and I was like.
- 2:07You know, it just, it just happened.
- 2:09And yeah, I guess we can. We can begin.
- 2:14Well, that was an think you should leave reference for any
- 2:16fans who are also fan of that. Nice.
- 2:20But I was gonna say like this is this is a special moment.
- 2:21Like this is the first time we're recording all in person
- 2:23since like. Feels so good.
- 2:27Exactly. But Josh moved away a few months
- 2:31ago, so we've been doing virtual, but now all in person
- 2:34once again for for this week and next week potentially.
- 2:39Jacked up right now. You're ready to go.
- 2:41I'm really hyper. Also, we found our draft order
- 2:43last night episode to come. Yeah, we're gonna talk about.
- 2:46It until recording so I've got a lot of pent up stuff going on,
- 2:50but let's do Metro for now and focus on that after.
- 2:53So let's start with some honorable mentions teams that
- 2:58didn't make the top 8. Hartford Whalers, yeah.
- 3:03My brain went to cities that don't have an NHL team.
- 3:07Did Lana Trashers? Yeah.
- 3:09But yeah, OK. Should we do number?
- 3:12Eight. Yeah, alright, alright,
- 3:14everybody #8. At #8 We've got the Pittsburgh
- 3:20Penguins. Last year they finished 7th.
- 3:22Me and Kevin Josh speaking both put them at 8:00 this year and
- 3:26Jake put them at 7. Notable players you may have
- 3:28heard of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Ricard Raquel, Brian
- 3:33Rust, Eric Carlson, and Chris Letang.
- 3:35Not notable players. Tristan Jones.
- 3:40You didn't mention Tristan Jarry on this.
- 3:42List Spike being awful last year.
- 3:43Last year, their power play ranked number six in the NHL.
- 3:46Shocking. I honestly I love including the
- 3:48power play ranking on these because it's so many times.
- 3:51Not so many times but sometimes they jump out at you.
- 3:53Like wow such a bad team did so on power play.
- 3:55So interesting to look out for fantasy.
- 3:57Yeah, I mean, OK, listen, elephant in the room, Crosby.
- 4:02Is he going to be a have? They like the more the time has
- 4:07passed throughout the offseason, the more likely I am to believe
- 4:10that he's going to get traded or that he wants to leave.
- 4:12I think he's come to terms. With it, my thing was like
- 4:14creeping up and up and up. And then I saw a post recently
- 4:17of him giving him being asked about it.
- 4:19And like how many times I have to tell you guys I just wanna
- 4:21stay here and retire a thing. OK, I didn't see.
- 4:23That, but that wasn't the exact words I'm paraphrasing.
- 4:26But yeah, that definitely brought me down.
- 4:27I was up to 20% likelihood and now I'm back down to like A5.
- 4:30Percent. So I did see, like they asked
- 4:32him the question of what do you think about all these rumors
- 4:34that people are talking about, like how you're going to go to
- 4:37like the hives or whatever. And he's just like, listen, you
- 4:39can't like stop the the rumors from happening or whatever.
- 4:42But he's just like focused on this year and, and doing his
- 4:45best. But like, he has nobody to play
- 4:46with. Like it's him.
- 4:47It's him, Malkin Letang. And it's the like the what is it
- 4:51the final goodbye or the last dance?
- 4:54The last dance. Yeah.
- 4:55How did I forget that? But anyways, like this lined up,
- 4:58if you look up and down the bottom 9, I'm calling in.
- 5:03The bottom line is horrible. Yeah, I I wonder what Rutger
- 5:08Mccords. Almost have bought him 11.
- 5:11Realistically, Rick Raquel's gone on the deadline.
- 5:13Rush potentially gone the deadline?
- 5:15Will be injured. Yeah, he he will be on
- 5:17somebody's IR. Yeah.
- 5:19And there's not really much talent behind them.
- 5:22Yeah. Well, Carl Singer treated
- 5:23probably, I mean like, I don't know what they're.
- 5:26Gonna still have a huge contract.
- 5:28Yeah, I don't think unless they retain a bunch, I don't think
- 5:30he's getting traded because I don't think anyone will take
- 5:32him. But it'll be interesting with
- 5:33Tang had a hole in his heart at the end of last year, if you
- 5:35remember that. Yeah, I remember.
- 5:37Yeah, I mean, I think he's healthy to start the year, but
- 5:39that's never a good sign. Like literal enjoy.
- 5:45I enjoy my heart being shot. Through the heart and you're to
- 5:47blame. Person.
- 5:52Yeah, so I think we all agree they're gonna be a bottom
- 5:54dweller. Jackie had them at 7 instead of
- 5:568. But again, when you're getting
- 5:57to like these, you know. Yeah, listen, I would be shocked
- 6:00if there's 7th like Crosby obviously going to try to win,
- 6:03like they're not gonna. Actively 7th and 8th could be
- 6:05like 3 points. Regardless, they're gonna be
- 6:07bottomed here. It's not gonna be that fun to be
- 6:09a Penguins fan. You're watching all your buddies
- 6:11get off the retirement homes. I think most Penguins fans want
- 6:16Crosby to get treated like they want him to go win the Cup
- 6:18somewhere. I would think maybe most is
- 6:19generous, but I think one of the Penguins, it would be like,
- 6:22listen, we we would not feel bad if Crosby left and went to win a
- 6:25champion it already. Got like 3 first rounders and in
- 6:28return. You think three first.
- 6:29Time I'm exaggerating, but they'll get a hall in.
- 6:31Return. They probably get like 2 picks
- 6:32in a prospect. Or something like that.
- 6:34It'll be better than it'll be better for the team.
- 6:36But then if you just stays and retires there, but I mean it's
- 6:39Crosby, you're happy if he stays and retires there for the whole
- 6:42story and him being one of the goats of all time and.
- 6:46It's just like it didn't take away from Gretzky's legacy,
- 6:49although he kind of got traded on his honeymoon and wasn't part
- 6:54of the same thing, you know? Like he's still regarded as an
- 6:57Edmonton Oiler even though he went to both the Kings and then
- 7:00the Rangers. So I feel like if Crosby leaves,
- 7:02it doesn't. It's like Patrick Kane, too.
- 7:04Like Patrick Kane is a Chicago Blackhawk for life.
- 7:07But. Like, I kind of like it that
- 7:09hockey, they're so loyal that there's something to it, whereas
- 7:11football and basketball, it's just like, Nah, man, give me.
- 7:13That basketball is really crazy, but football I would say is in
- 7:17the middle one of like people, some people still.
- 7:19Care, Brady, you know what I mean?
- 7:20Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
- 7:21Probably the best example is Tom Brady.
- 7:24But Tom really had a competitive team until the end, right?
- 7:27And then he retired, and then he came back.
- 7:29No, yeah. But I'm saying like having
- 7:30traded, been traded to the Bucks, yeah, doesn't really take
- 7:33away from. What you know if you wanna check
- 7:35with the? Box, Actually, yeah, they were.
- 7:37Like cemented is. Like ignores, like any
- 7:38questions, like is he a product of the team, the coach or
- 7:41whatever? It's gonna go dip over there and
- 7:43then do it again. Yeah, so if you're listening, we
- 7:45think you should spice it. Up and go to the.
- 7:47Hub, you come to the haves, you win the cup with us first time
- 7:49since 93. Bring it back home, whatever.
- 7:52Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
- 7:55The NHL script writers are setting this up.
- 7:57I guess so. One other thing I'll mention is
- 7:59that I think they're power plays only going to regress.
- 8:01Yeah, I'm shocked that it was actually this high.
- 8:03I was shocked when their goaltending is still bad.
- 8:06I I I'm truly. I'm willing to say terrible,
- 8:09yeah. She loves gonna be the starter
- 8:12by the end of the year. Yeah, but he's not gonna be able
- 8:15to save this team, No, for she could be in the future.
- 8:17He could be a good goalie. We saw him win the Calder Cup
- 8:19and all that, but not. This year exactly.
- 8:22So I don't really even disagree with your rankings today.
- 8:24It's just that this next team I think is slightly worse.
- 8:27But I think we do need to touch on Crosby, I think just for
- 8:29fantasy value. Like what you?
- 8:31OK, face off win league is the GOAT.
- 8:34There's no better face off winner than him.
- 8:35Yeah, Is like there isn't, right?
- 8:37He wins like 13. No, The next close I can think
- 8:39of is like Robert Thomas. Yeah.
- 8:41Sure. I mean Barkov.
- 8:42Barkov he sure. Loves will hit double digits,
- 8:44but he's the consistently the top one.
- 8:46He's gonna get you point per game.
- 8:47I wouldn't expect much more than a point per game, but I want 90
- 8:49points either. Yeah, him.
- 8:51Something like 8590, something like that.
- 8:53I'll get you the PowerPoints. Look, even if they regress from
- 8:55six in the NHL to 20th or 15th, that's the league average power
- 8:58play. He's going to touch every single
- 8:59goal on that power play. I'm looking at early second
- 9:02round. In in in our league
- 9:04specifically, he'll be like a top 15 to 16 pick it feels.
- 9:07Like but even if your league doesn't count face off, yes that
- 9:09definitely drops him a bit. Yes, shots, yes, PowerPoint
- 9:12production. He has points like he's gonna
- 9:14be. I think he's firmly second round
- 9:16pick, I think. Yeah, it just depends on where
- 9:18in the second round. Yeah, that's where he should be.
- 9:20Going I think we could agree if he does get traded, it's just
- 9:23good for his value like I'm the. Only good for his value.
- 9:26The only thing is that Pittsburgh has an unreal playoff
- 9:28schedule. They have five games in the
- 9:31Finals, which is just unheard of.
- 9:32Yeah, so that would suck in that sense.
- 9:34But if you go to another team with a good playoff schedule,
- 9:36obviously ignoring that in terms of actual team, it's got to be
- 9:38good because you can be surrounded by better players.
- 9:40He's gonna go on Power Play 1. And like, the thing for him is
- 9:431, He's one of the best players ever.
- 9:44And two, every time he's playing in an international tournament,
- 9:47like the team funnels through him.
- 9:49Yeah, this is not the type of guy that he's an exception to
- 9:52the rule of go somewhere at the deadline and it doesn't.
- 9:55Work obviously isn't the destination frame, but could he
- 9:59outdo a rod curse if he got traded to Carolina?
- 10:01Yes, cancelled but. That's true.
- 10:03Cancel did. Yeah.
- 10:04So former Penguins there. That's that's who can outdo rods
- 10:07hamper on fantasy value. Exactly.
- 10:11We'll move on to the next team, but I just, I also think like
- 10:13Raquel and Russ, these guys will provide good value like later in
- 10:17your leagues like I. Think he's being overrated, I
- 10:19think. I think he had a really good
- 10:21season last year. I think he's gonna be good.
- 10:22I just think his ADP is a bit high.
- 10:25Jose DP off top of my head but I feel like if it's double digit
- 10:27rounds like the type of guy. Double digits I'm taking.
- 10:29The guy that's like, you know, at the end of your bench or you
- 10:32know, you can fill in. Like we play in deep leagues, so
- 10:34our bench is super small. We're starting almost everybody
- 10:36on our team. But they gotta rounds out your
- 10:38roster of like you can slot in anywhere in your lineup.
- 10:41I think he's going in like 12 team leagues.
- 10:42He's going like round 10. That's pretty good I guess, but.
- 10:46Is there anyone who you want as a late round dart throw?
- 10:49On the Penguins. I can see, I can see Tommy Novak
- 10:53having like some flashes of value.
- 10:55I don't know what to expect from like Tomasino.
- 10:57Honestly like this may be crazy but I could see Letang possibly
- 11:02Jenga being some late round value.
- 11:04He's coming up the. Entry that's it.
- 11:06He gonna be PB one and he does decent back.
- 11:08It's like nothing to write home about, but he'll give you like a
- 11:1121.51.5 in shots blocks. Do you remember how hot pot?
- 11:17Multiple season last year like 2 months and then he completely
- 11:20dropped off and we were completely validated in our
- 11:22opinion and it's possible he'll go through stretches but I'm so
- 11:25not interested in. Having are you drafting him like
- 11:28maybe at ADP and hoping that you get the ability to sell them
- 11:32high again in the beginning of. The season I'm really I'm not
- 11:35drafting him unless he's like 4 rounds lower than I think he
- 11:37should be going there. Some guys just not.
- 11:39Interested. I think.
- 11:41Yeah, you really think that he can?
- 11:43Do it? No.
- 11:43But I think, I don't think any of these guys really do it.
- 11:46I just think he has the highest upside.
- 11:48He was supposed to be a stud and then when Winnipeg traded him, I
- 11:50remember I was. Like a big deal.
- 11:51I just think that it's too early, like maybe in a year or
- 11:54two. For I do think that there are
- 11:55fourth line though could have like banger implications like
- 11:59you know those guys you have to pick up just for hits or Pimms
- 12:01at the end of the week or kind of flip a cat like pick them up
- 12:03Brezo is one of those guys who was one of those guys like yeah
- 12:07they have like an enforcer 4th line so for.
- 12:09Sure, let's move on to the next. Yep, or 7.
- 12:12At #7 we've got the New York Islanders.
- 12:16Last year they finished 6th. Kevin and Josh have them ranked
- 12:19at 7 and Jackie has them ranked at 8.
- 12:22Some notable players. Matt Single, T Barzel, Beau.
- 12:27That's his full name. Horvat, Elias Sorokin.
- 12:31No, what do we have as a as the bold nickname?
- 12:34Last year we had a bonic name. He did anyways.
- 12:39Alright. We'll figure it out.
- 12:40We'll go through the tapes. We've got Ilya Sorokin, Tony
- 12:45D'Angelo, Anders Lee, Jonathan Drua, Alexander Romanov, and
- 12:49their power play ranked at 31st. Worse.
- 12:56I won't spoil it, yeah. Yeah, Shafer's not in that
- 13:01notable. I don't see him having an impact
- 13:04this year, but I should have included him.
- 13:05You're right, it's notable enough that he should be
- 13:07mentioned, but I don't see him having an impact this year.
- 13:09The only way the shipper has packed is if he's PP one.
- 13:12I think that's the only way he has any.
- 13:14Relation with the Tony D'Angelo type of player where if he's not
- 13:18running your power play why is he on your team?
- 13:20And they even got rid of Dobson and kept D'Angelo, so I don't
- 13:23see D'Angelo losing power. Play 1.
- 13:25So my biggest question, you know, fantasy implications.
- 13:28Obviously this team won the lottery last year.
- 13:30Shockingly huge water chances of winning.
- 13:34It was like less than 10% or. Something because they were I
- 13:36think 11th to last, yes. And they jumped, I think the
- 13:41maximum. Amount of spring while they just
- 13:43got blessed and. This is the second time in the
- 13:46past couple of years that in New York team has jumped up in a
- 13:48lottery for the first overall. Honestly, I'm a lot less.
- 13:54But they're they're top 6 is is not super, not super fun.
- 13:58Main asset on this team, I guess is between Horvat and Barzal.
- 14:02I like Horvat more personally, because I think he's just, you
- 14:05know, he's the kind of like pillar of that team is reliable.
- 14:08Barzal's been on and off. For faceoff wins one of.
- 14:10Those double you guys he is and I think he's low key, really
- 14:13good at scoring goals too. Obviously the ones you don't
- 14:16have a lot of opportunity to do that, but I think he's a good
- 14:18player his. Warband Barzel, obviously you
- 14:21gotta mention Sorokin. Yeah, that's classic situation
- 14:24of great goalie on a bad team. I had spoken last year, he was
- 14:28really good at the end of the season where you can see like
- 14:31this quality time. You're trying to trade him.
- 14:32There was a long time where he was not good, right?
- 14:34And it's just because the team in front of him is bad, like
- 14:37they let in high danger chances and you can only do so much when
- 14:40you're getting wins. So you guys think that the
- 14:43acquisition of Druan does anything for their offence or
- 14:46power? Play Well, I was gonna say I'm
- 14:47curious about Join and Shabana. I'm really interested in
- 14:51because. You forgot to include him as.
- 14:52Well, you know, apparently he was good in the KHL.
- 14:55He's 24. Like he's coming to the NHL.
- 14:57Like we've seen these guys like, you know, being powerful and not
- 14:59being impactful. So yeah, I'm curious to see what
- 15:02we're doing. On PowerPoint I.
- 15:03Think he's gonna get line 1P1 and that's gonna be very.
- 15:05Interesting. It's small though, at 157.
- 15:08OK, that's a small player. That's Michelle.
- 15:10That he won't help you when you're banger category that's.
- 15:14Probably a big favor for bangers leagues, but.
- 15:16Look, take him in the last round or something and see if he is
- 15:19that the Islanders are such a. Julia I feel like it's gonna
- 15:22join with no McKinnon I feel like it's chalked.
- 15:24Yeah, honestly drawn with McKinnon.
- 15:26I wasn't that interested in the fact that he's going to the
- 15:28Islanders. I have 0 interest.
- 15:30I will say the guy on this list most likely to end up on my team
- 15:33is Alexander Romanov. And I mean, everybody wants it
- 15:36for your Major League. He was a stud loss.
- 15:38Yeah, I picked him up after Jake.
- 15:39He dropped him last year and he was great.
- 15:41He was really just one of those guys you can get laid in the in
- 15:43the draft and you know, provide 2 plus shots and hit blocks,
- 15:48sorry, hits and blocks. So.
- 15:50So yeah, he's the most likely to end up on my team.
- 15:51Think of Islanders players. Are you?
- 15:52I just think they're bad. Like that's, I think that's why
- 15:55I have Pittsburgh ahead of them. They don't have a start.
- 15:57That's why I didn't mind them getting the 1st overall pick.
- 16:01I'd like for them to become an exciting team.
- 16:03It just sucks having a team that I have no desire to watch a game
- 16:06with the Islanders for the past couple of years.
- 16:08I don't know how you guys feel about that, but other than
- 16:10watching. Something they don't score goals
- 16:11when they suck. Yeah, what are we watching?
- 16:15It's like watching the halves from like a couple years ago,
- 16:17except they don't have, I mean, they have Sorokin, but it's
- 16:19still not the same as watching Price, you know, bail us out.
- 16:24Yeah, what about Emil Heineman, Line 4 winger?
- 16:27Ohe, huge acquisition. I actually do like kind.
- 16:29Of a lot of real life I. Think of a fantasy, obviously.
- 16:32Not, I mean, there's no reason to believe and also I agree
- 16:35fade, but there's no reason to believe.
- 16:37He can't be alone. One within the month, that's
- 16:39all. The team could be lined, yeah,
- 16:42that's how they don't have any. Like Kevin said, the only lock
- 16:46is really Barzal, I would say and.
- 16:48Horvat. I think the second line is gonna
- 16:50be pretty like the most fantasy relevant Lee Barzal Palmeri.
- 16:53Lee is good. You last year he was great.
- 16:55He actually was a really good shooter.
- 16:56Yeah. Shots on goal, keep an eye out.
- 16:57There was a point where I almost picked him up.
- 16:59I chose someone else over him and I regretted it.
- 17:01Yeah, but I remember it was about a couple weeks into the
- 17:03season, I was lacking some shots and I sorted by highest shots on
- 17:06goal per game and he was top of that list.
- 17:08And I thought it was a fluke. But then he maintained it for
- 17:10the whole season. So he's definitely an.
- 17:12Interesting and he was honestly one of the only like producers
- 17:14on the power play as well so. And that's why they got 31st.
- 17:17Yeah. Not 30 seconds.
- 17:20Yeah, but yeah, not much to write home about on.
- 17:23This no, definitely not in Sorokin is just a victim of
- 17:25circumstances. He would be.
- 17:27Thinking overdrafted this year, Yeah, I think cause I think he
- 17:29has the name value. Everybody knows he's like a
- 17:31quality goaltender, so I think that pushes him up draft boards
- 17:34because, you know, obviously quality is important, yeah.
- 17:36But you wanna guess? Sorry, do you wanna guess who 30
- 17:40seconds was? For for PowerPoint, yeah, off
- 17:44the top of my head. San Jose.
- 17:46No, no, no, no, no. Ooh, now looking at your phone
- 17:50quick. Guess I'm just trying to look
- 17:51at. Teammate.
- 17:52Now don't even look at team names.
- 17:54The the books, yes, it was actually, yeah.
- 17:59Like you had the wrong California team.
- 18:03Yeah, but remember the Ducks like ended up turning it up a
- 18:05little bit at the end of the season.
- 18:07Not enough. Bishop when they were like
- 18:11trying to come up with a team name and Daffy Duck was like
- 18:13that. Ducks, I thought, I just thought
- 18:16of. Space Jam, the chess movie.
- 18:21The Space Gambit, We get that reference.
- 18:27You have to listen to the previous episode.
- 18:28Of the podcast, yeah. Alright, let's move on to number
- 18:32six at #6 We've got the Philadelphia Flyers.
- 18:36Last year they were #8 this year me and Kevin, Josh and Kevin
- 18:40have them ranked at six and Jake has them ranked at 5.
- 18:43Some notable players, Travis Konecny, Matt Wayne Michkov,
- 18:46Owen Tippett, Trevor Siegrist, newly acquired Jamie Drysdale,
- 18:49slightly less newly acquired Travis Sanheim.
- 18:52Decent amount of notable players and their power play ranked.
- 18:55At Igor Samuel. 30th last. Year knows the Mullah love on.
- 18:59Here, Tortorella is not the coach anymore.
- 19:01So Samuel's power play. Yeah, who?
- 19:07Who? Who is their coach again?
- 19:09They talk somebody. Yeah, talk, it talk.
- 19:11It's been pretty good for players.
- 19:13Fantasy. Really stabilizes teams.
- 19:16He's not like the most offensively minded coach, but I
- 19:19think he's definitely a step up from Tordella and just in.
- 19:21General, he was the coach when Vancouver was amazing two years
- 19:24ago, right? And he got a lot out of those,
- 19:26those guys. I mean, I would.
- 19:27Say it was a more skilled team together, the feud of JT Miller
- 19:31realized better since. No ones been hard behind the.
- 19:33Scenes. Yeah, honestly.
- 19:34No, big time. I, I just, I would say them
- 19:37versus this next team, the the one that you guys would have
- 19:41ranked higher. I, I personally like, can we
- 19:45just say the next one too? I mean, I feel like these are
- 19:47like we have them interchangeable.
- 19:48Right, all right, if you insist. Go over them both at once,
- 19:52because like we're. #5 at #5 We have the Columbus Blue Jackets.
- 19:57Last year they finished fourth. Josh and Kevin have them ranked
- 19:59five and Jake has them ranked six.
- 20:00So essentially interchanged with the Flyers notable players Zach
- 20:04Werenski, Kirill Marchenko, Sean Monahan, Dmitry Baranov, Boone
- 20:08Jenner, Kent Johnson, Adam Fantilli.
- 20:10Last year they finished 22nd on the power play.
- 20:13That's surprising. I would expect it higher.
- 20:15Really, I think that makes sense.
- 20:16Like slightly. Below how many points?
- 20:18How many 6 point games? How risky have I thought they
- 20:21would have been higher? Yeah, so I, I think I, I screwed
- 20:25up and I, I see why you guys have Columbus, I guess the only.
- 20:30Thing you look at the lineup, he's like, oh, I made a great.
- 20:31Mistake. The only case I'll make for
- 20:33Philly is that even Columbus is a young team.
- 20:36Philly is even younger. They have a lot of really good
- 20:38players. Even this third line, Forrester,
- 20:41Kates and Brink can be a huge surprise.
- 20:43Like these are good players and you know, down the middle.
- 20:47That's a big question mark. Katori has been the most random
- 20:51kind of career trajectory ever. It's been super all over the
- 20:54place. Mishkoff, we think, can be a
- 20:56stud like a prison. White.
- 20:58Yeah. You know, so that's kind of
- 20:59cool. Connecting is always good.
- 21:00And where? The acquisition of Egress.
- 21:03Yeah, exactly. Not a bad decor too.
- 21:05And I just think that for fantasy purposes, I really love
- 21:07their team for Columbus and we'll get into that quickly.
- 21:12But yeah, and erson could be a pretty low key goal this year.
- 21:16Cause even if they finish five or six, that's not a, that could
- 21:20be a 5050 team, right? Like a 500 team.
- 21:23And if you have a goalie who's going to get all those starts
- 21:25and he was good last year. The judges where he was like
- 21:29really fantasy relevant. Yeah, there's this guys on this
- 21:32team that I feel like no one thinks are very good.
- 21:34That could surprise. To the other side, or just talk
- 21:37about Bobby Brink. Brink for sure.
- 21:39It's actually. One that I didn't list is a
- 21:41Forester, but he's coming off a surgery on the offseason, so I
- 21:45actually had him at the end of last year.
- 21:47I didn't wanna forget my vibes going into the offseason, so I
- 21:51had written a couple of guys who I thought might be sleepers for
- 21:53this year, and Forster was on that list.
- 21:55But with the acquisitions that bump, that jump him in the depth
- 21:59chart and the fact that he was injured in the offseason is
- 22:01gonna miss some of camp, he's no longer on that list for me.
- 22:04But he was really good at the end of last.
- 22:05Year don't hit the vorak either like you know what I mean I feel
- 22:08I. Mean for fantasy I do, but if
- 22:09you need face off, win tonight I feel.
- 22:11Like he just provides face off wins.
- 22:13The thing is, I'm really I think connect needs always reliable
- 22:16for fantasy right? He's like your main guy, the
- 22:20point leagues. Exactly.
- 22:21Short handed points is really good, I think is the biggest
- 22:25asterisks on this team, right? Like how high can the jump be
- 22:29this year? Yeah.
- 22:31Can you hit a point per game, three shots a game?
- 22:33I think that's the type of player that he's aiming to be
- 22:35right for. Sure, yeah, that's it.
- 22:37And you know the one thing with Devorak agreed, you have all the
- 22:39reason to believe he's not going to be very good for fantasy,
- 22:42because on the Habs he wasn't. But he was a depth player on the
- 22:44Habs. Here he's second line, centre I.
- 22:46Think they're going to say about the fact that they have such bad
- 22:49centre? Depth.
- 22:49That's exactly it. I don't.
- 22:50Think he'll be fantasy relevant but.
- 22:51Yeah, it's it's it's this is a lay around Arthur type thing.
- 22:54You know, that's what I mean. I just think it's there's more
- 22:56to meet than meets the eye to this team.
- 22:58It's really that third line bring Kates and Forrester.
- 23:01Yeah, I think that's a very exciting third line and that's
- 23:04why I put them over Columbus. But I guess we could start
- 23:06talking about Columbus. Now, we haven't touched on Owen
- 23:09Tippett. He's.
- 23:10Mentioned him in our sleepers. I think he's gonna be great.
- 23:14This. Year I really like him for his
- 23:15value. I just love his shots and hits
- 23:17combo. He could easily be a double
- 23:20double honestly if you have more as like instead of two and two I
- 23:23see him more as. Three and.
- 23:24One plus and one plus like 2.51 point five.
- 23:27Yeah, something like that. We're getting some like Philip
- 23:29Forsberg. Yeah, exactly.
- 23:30So obviously Forsberg a bit more and we'll get more points.
- 23:33But you know, I love his back cat.
- 23:35And if he's on Power Play 1 and Michkov pops off like we expect,
- 23:37I think. I mean, we already talked about
- 23:39him in the In the Sleepers episode, but we all we all like
- 23:41him as a leader. You know that they have like
- 23:44pretty much A1A1B situation for power play.
- 23:46It's not. Definitely not broken looking at
- 23:48the power play on daily phase now, but I feel like it's just
- 23:50not trip to what it's actually. Going to that's what I'm saying
- 23:51though, like if they do consolidate and put it on,
- 23:54whoever ends up there I think is gonna be good.
- 23:56My 55 good enough players to make a good prediction.
- 23:59For their power play unit is Michkov, Konecny as the locks
- 24:02and then likely the other 3 will be Tip it, Siegrist and
- 24:04Drysdale. That's what I've got is my five.
- 24:06I don't know. If they have criterias as line
- 24:091C, why would they not put him on PP1?
- 24:12I just don't see him belonging on power play one over any of
- 24:15these guys, but maybe if they want him to win the faceoff,
- 24:18obviously that's a good thing. So I could see him bumping was
- 24:20there, Yeah, but I don't see obviously Michigan connecting
- 24:23your locks and you need to have one defence in there and it's
- 24:25gonna be Drysdale. Yeah.
- 24:26So it's really and tip it. I just think he has the skills
- 24:28to to be there. So yeah, I think Tippet should
- 24:30be there. Secrets or Couturier?
- 24:32It's a solid spot. Honestly.
- 24:33I like that power play. I think it's gonna jump up a lot
- 24:35from last year when they were 30th.
- 24:37Any at all faith in like any fantasy value this.
- 24:40Year the only reason I think he might is because of again how he
- 24:45mentioned how terrible their centre depth is.
- 24:47If he can be lined on power play 1 and hang out with connecting
- 24:49image Gov, it's not like he's a bum who's never shown any
- 24:52flashes of being great, you know?
- 24:54So yeah, I think he's. Just very one-dimensional,
- 24:56right? He's not gonna hit any
- 24:57categories for your. Bangs or doesn't get you points.
- 24:59He's doing literally nothing and he's a pure C and he doesn't
- 25:02really want face offs so I'm not targeting him either.
- 25:04If it's last round of the draft and I'm scrambling for someone
- 25:08who I think might have some fantasy relevance I could take
- 25:10him but it's not like I'm gunning to get him.
- 25:12I. Think I'll be happy missing out
- 25:13on the Trevor Siegrist bounce back, yeah?
- 25:16But given the benefit of the doubt, the last two scenes he
- 25:18was heard. Before he was and change of
- 25:21scenery always. Helps pointwise, I could see him
- 25:23bouncing back, I just don't think he's around well-rounded
- 25:25enough player for fantasy to be worth, you know, taking him out.
- 25:29Wherever Zagreus or cold cylinder.
- 25:31I would like to take secrets as well.
- 25:34I think Secret has a spot on, probably one in cylinder.
- 25:36Doesn't. Well, let's segue into Columbus.
- 25:37Torah cylinder fumble Tate McRae, I mean.
- 25:40You all come back from. That yeah, he fumbled making my
- 25:43notable players list on Columbus, which is way worse.
- 25:48Listen up, Cole. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:51So obviously Columbus, I think the biggest reason that we put
- 25:55them up first of all, last year, they finished fourth.
- 25:57They barely missed the playoffs. They had a great.
- 26:00Last put like we stole the last. Spot yeah, that was that was
- 26:02super tight to the end, even when they were on like a 10 game
- 26:05win. This really stressful as House
- 26:06fan and Werenski has shown that he could be a Norris winner and
- 26:11Philly does not have anyone remotely like that on defence.
- 26:15Marchenko was playing like a pasta light and if you can do
- 26:18that, a lot of people have him regressing this year.
- 26:20Yeah, but even if he regresses a little bit, he was still putting
- 26:22up phenomenal numbers last year, so I think he still gonna be
- 26:25great. And then Monahan was showing he
- 26:26could be 1C, which is great because he can hold Chantilly.
- 26:30Spot until Chantilly really grows into it.
- 26:32They've still got Boone Jenner. Kent Johnson was a great points
- 26:35guy. Boom Jenner banger league stud
- 26:36by the way, like if you don't play in in banger leagues or you
- 26:39know he's. Also that shots face off, wins,
- 26:41hits blocks. Yeah, exactly.
- 26:43He's all of them. Yeah, Pinky.
- 26:45Drafted him like 11th round 1011 last year, which is a great spot
- 26:48to get him. He's announced like out for the
- 26:50season. Yeah.
- 26:51Jakey drops him because he got so many injuries and then the
- 26:53guy who won our league first place picked him up, stopped him
- 26:56on. I stashed him on IR, then he got
- 26:57healthy and then he wrecked us. Yeah.
- 27:00Exactly. Yeah.
- 27:01Anyway, so Columbus will be exciting.
- 27:02I don't think they make the playoffs, but that's more a
- 27:06product of how good I think some of these other teams are as
- 27:09opposed to them taking a big step back.
- 27:12Sean Monahan, where are you? Where are you, Where do you rank
- 27:14them in terms of like centres? Because last year we saw him
- 27:17like really be successful on this Columbus team.
- 27:20Yeah, he was producing like the second, third round value.
- 27:23My two things with Monahan is, one, that he's a pure C and pure
- 27:26C is a very deep position. And two, it's the injuries and I
- 27:29guess a little 3 is fentanyl. He's right on his tail.
- 27:32Yeah. So that's the big, the big three
- 27:34ifs for him. So I'm not gonna take him like
- 27:36super early, assuming he's getting the same stuff as last
- 27:38year. There's no he's putting up those
- 27:39same numbers. I still think he could be a
- 27:41really valuable asset to your team.
- 27:42Can I give you some names? Do you do drive Chantilly higher
- 27:45or Monahan? I think I take Monahan higher
- 27:47even though I know he's the future guy and if he takes over
- 27:52line on power play 1 mid year, I'm not going to be like gasping
- 27:55and clutching my pearls, you know?
- 27:57But I do think Monahan has the edge.
- 27:59He just did so well last year. Why would they rush until he
- 28:01when Monahan did so well? Monahan or Bull Horvat?
- 28:06Hmm. That's I think I'd go Horvat
- 28:08just because of the fantilli of it.
- 28:10All I I'd go Monahan just because even if he is lying too,
- 28:13I think his surrounding cast is better.
- 28:15Monaghan or Logan Cooley? Cooley.
- 28:19Cooley Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah.
- 28:22Well. We're pretty high.
- 28:23I don't think Cooley is secure to spot on power play 1.
- 28:27Not. Really.
- 28:28Yeah, I think they have. Just look, I can name off top of
- 28:30my head Keller, Schmaltz, Sergachev, Peterka, Guenther.
- 28:36Like obviously he could bump Schmaltz off.
- 28:38Yeah, bump Patrick off, but it's not like a locked spot.
- 28:42Not that Monahan. Is either I'm honestly, I wasn't
- 28:44factoring in faceoffs to that equation.
- 28:46So that that's a pretty big yeah.
- 28:48Jump in Monaghan's favor, of course.
- 28:50Yeah. I just think really could be a
- 28:51lead. No sheet to Cooley.
- 28:54Like more Monahan being good. It's also just like I said, how
- 28:57overcrowded that power play one spot is.
- 28:58I think just having that cap, if you're not on that power play
- 29:01one, I'm really not high on any points.
- 29:03Guy who's not on power play 1. Fair enough.
- 29:05Because to me, it's like there's certain archetypes of pure sees,
- 29:08right? It's like the guys that are, you
- 29:09know, have the great deployment but lack the category coverage
- 29:13and the guys that hit the categories and like also have
- 29:15good points, right? Like, he falls in the guys that
- 29:17are like, you know, Kopitar, where Kopitar averages, he
- 29:20averaged 1.2 shots in the last year, right?
- 29:23But like .83 points, .27 power play points.
- 29:26Like I feel like that's kind of like Monahan's gonna shoot more
- 29:29than that. Yeah, I would.
- 29:30But that's the archetype of if that's a question, all right,
- 29:33about strong Dylan Strome over Manhattan.
- 29:35OK. All right, let's go to #4 Bill
- 29:39and strong number. Four, we have the Washington
- 29:42Capitals. Last year they were #1 right.
- 29:45This year Josh has them ranked at 3, Jake and Kevin off the
- 29:48ranked up four. I will say my wife Eva helped me
- 29:53do my rankings. And she blamed the wife already.
- 29:58The Washington area, that was her team before I hijacked her
- 30:01and made her a Habs fan. So I'm not going to lie and say
- 30:04that didn't have slight effects on my my rankings.
- 30:07But let me get worse. They would be 4 and at best they
- 30:10would be 3. One blue, blue blown Rouge.
- 30:13Always. Exactly.
- 30:15So it's funny with this because I'm the highest on Washington.
- 30:19And I put the highest. Ranking.
- 30:20Yeah, exactly. I was shocked.
- 30:22But again, I gotta blame it on the wife on this one.
- 30:25But quickly, I'll go into the notable players.
- 30:27Yeah, we got Alex Ovechkin, obviously.
- 30:29Dylan Strome, Tom Wilson, Logan Thompson, Connor McMichael, the
- 30:33best Connor make in the league, Alexey Protis and Pierre Luc
- 30:35Dubois. Boy, you.
- 30:39And last year their power play was 14th in the league.
- 30:42Right now, go. Keep 2 defensemen on this power
- 30:46play. One, yes they can.
- 30:47Will they? I think.
- 30:49Probably, I think. I think chicken stapled to the
- 30:52P. Was gonna say, of the two
- 30:53defensemen, which one do you think is more likely to get
- 30:55bumped? John Carlson's getting bumped.
- 30:57If anything, I think this is the year they make the switch.
- 30:59Yeah, I if they do make a switch.
- 31:01I mean I feel like Dubya and Leonard can both or even make
- 31:06Michael can make a jump to. That power level adjustment, I
- 31:08said there were 14 plastic, probably they were 13th.
- 31:10Whoa, that changes everything. I just I don't want any
- 31:13listeners calling me out and be like he messed up the power
- 31:15please. But yeah, here's my 5 if you
- 31:18guys wanna know my 5. Hopefully I've got Ovechkin and
- 31:20Strum stapled there. Hmm.
- 31:22Wilson Likely, yeah. And then Chicken and Carlson.
- 31:25If one of the defensemen gets bumped, I honestly think it's
- 31:27gonna be Carlson, and I think the guy who replaces him as
- 31:30McMichael. And that's my my assessment.
- 31:32That's fair. I mean, McMichael and Leonard
- 31:36and protests are three young guys who are going to just take
- 31:39us another step forward, I believe.
- 31:40The thing is this team was weak last year and still didn't have
- 31:43produce on P2. Like the P2 wasn't like
- 31:47anything. Was strong last.
- 31:48Year but but what I'm saying is like he couldn't, the team was
- 31:52good and he couldn't break into P.
- 31:53Two. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:54So they didn't need him to. He was so unreal at 585.
- 31:57That's what I'm saying. I think he's gonna have a power
- 31:59place while those. Yeah, he'll be power play too
- 32:01here and it, but I just I don't think who cares?
- 32:03About over who? Who does he get P2 over?
- 32:07Ryan Leonard. I don't even know.
- 32:10I don't. You don't getting over to boy,
- 32:11he's not getting it over all these spot.
- 32:13He's not getting it over McMichael.
- 32:15There's gonna be a defenseman. And then the last part is Ryan
- 32:18Leonard. Yeah, that's fair.
- 32:19I guess the only way he gets it is if make Michael goes to #1
- 32:24and one of the other defensemen comes down to 2 and.
- 32:27Replaces there's no John Carlton not all gonna be not gonna be P2
- 32:29if he's not on P. One, I'm saying so, but then
- 32:31whatever other defensemen would have been on P2 against bumped
- 32:34off and then spot. Protest was 16th in the league
- 32:37last year and even strength points.
- 32:39Yeah, it was nuts. I mean crazy.
- 32:41The biggest thing? Talk.
- 32:42About 66. Right.
- 32:46Yeah. Exactly.
- 32:47Yeah, the key stat here is the tallness.
- 32:50Here's the protest she told you not to worry about.
- 32:51Exactly. Yeah, seriously. 24 years old
- 32:54and six? Six.
- 32:55Not that that makes any sense, but you get it.
- 32:58I I can't see why they would take Oh my God and plus 40.
- 33:03It was a + 40. This guy makes things happen.
- 33:06What do when he walks around with that big protest energy
- 33:08like nobody can? Nobody could stand a.
- 33:12Chance sleep, yeah. Definitely up there anyway, but
- 33:15I find with this team, they're they're good.
- 33:18I mean, just to have a guy who can do that and not crack the
- 33:22power play. The ranking like me and Kevin
- 33:25have nonstop been saying especially I think the hardest
- 33:26on this of Washington's gonna regress.
- 33:28We're going to talk down and you're like, I still like
- 33:30Washington and then you put them up for.
- 33:32Honestly think the other three are much.
- 33:34Stronger I I would not be shy. They're like really, really
- 33:36strong the other. Team, that means that you agree
- 33:38with me when I said that Washington was gonna.
- 33:39Be a while we were talking off the podcast about this right
- 33:42with the wild card situation. They obviously to me there are
- 33:47tear break from the other four in the metropolitan, no doubt
- 33:50about it. So all teams get into the.
- 33:51Playoffs, I don't think they're tear break with Columbus,
- 33:54really. I don't know.
- 33:55That's a hot take. I can see it's not and 5th and
- 33:59Columbus being 4th. I could.
- 34:00See it, I just think they have much better defensemen like not.
- 34:04Other than Werenski? That's kind of to me, what?
- 34:06And the goaltending, also Columbus, yeah, they've got,
- 34:09they've got Meekins and Jack Reeves.
- 34:10I think Merlin. Just get fedotov.
- 34:13Yeah, yeah. I don't think he cracks it, but
- 34:15yeah. Grieves was actually he was
- 34:18really fun. The name Logan Thompson
- 34:22obviously was great for fantasy last year, but he was a product
- 34:24of this team being the first seed.
- 34:25Right. Yeah.
- 34:26And well, I mean, it goes hand in hand.
- 34:28You can't say it was all a product of that.
- 34:30It's not like they were guaranteed first.
- 34:31But we saw him also like, collapse near the end of the
- 34:33season as well, like you completely fell off.
- 34:35So, you know what's the real Logan Top?
- 34:38Step above Columbus, but I'm also low on Washington.
- 34:40Like I think, I think they're gonna be a a wild.
- 34:42Card I can just see these young guys on Columbus taking a step
- 34:44up and then Washington, you know, these guys fall back down.
- 34:47Everybody, everybody and their mothers.
- 34:50Things that these guys are going to regress closer to.
- 34:52Like I think that. The lower levels.
- 34:53I think it's actually a similar situation.
- 34:54I think people are gonna regress.
- 34:56People think that both Columbus and Washington are gonna
- 34:58regress. They think both of them over
- 34:59performed last year, Yeah. So I think.
- 35:01But I think the Columbus guys were breakouts and The Walking
- 35:05was more of a product of like. I don't know why.
- 35:07She has plenty of young guys, too.
- 35:09It's true. Listen.
- 35:10Nothing beats a Jet Grieves Holiday.
- 35:14Got it. Yes.
- 35:17Yeah. Make fun joke with you.
- 35:23Yeah, yeah. So, so I I think though just
- 35:27overall there, I get what you're saying, Kevin, but I think that
- 35:32easily they're the wild card spot from the Metropolitan.
- 35:35Yeah, even though we think that the Atlantic Division is kind of
- 35:39a. Better bet, think that we
- 35:41mentioned this off. The exactly.
- 35:42It's very, very likely, but I say it's likely that both wild
- 35:47card spots are taken up by Atlantic.
- 35:49Panthers, Lightning, Canadians, Maple Leafs and Senators.
- 35:53Like, I feel like all of those teams are gonna make the
- 35:55playoffs. Yeah.
- 35:56So for the wild card spot to go. To will you play?
- 35:59You play more teams in your division and the teams, the top
- 36:02heavy teams in the Atlantic are also strong.
- 36:05So true. It takes away points from each
- 36:08other is what I'm saying. Not everybody can have all great
- 36:10points, yeah. Yeah.
- 36:11Would you guys want Ryan Leonard on your team?
- 36:13Supposed to be pretty good for for.
- 36:14Bangers I I wouldn't draft him but he's like the guy I put on
- 36:17my watch list as soon as the draft is over and you wait and
- 36:19see if he does anything relevant.
- 36:20Not. Like grabbing him as the last
- 36:21round pick. Yeah, I'm not doing anything
- 36:24like reaching he has no chance of getting power play 1 so he's
- 36:27not gonna be has a pretty low point ceiling.
- 36:30But his bangs I've heard. I mean based on last year.
- 36:33'S. And, and it's a it's a sight to
- 36:37see, you know? You could do it, his body very
- 36:40physically capable. He could be like a mini Wilson,
- 36:43like a Wilson in training. A wit, you know.
- 36:45Wilson is good because he gets the points and the goals and the
- 36:48power play along. With the right if, if Leonard
- 36:50could do the Pimms shots and hits that Wilson does even
- 36:53without the points, that's a player you want on your team.
- 36:55Sure, obviously that wasn't an elite level, so that's a high
- 37:00for to reach, but definitely someone keeping an eye.
- 37:02On this team, who's most likely to end up on your on your
- 37:05fantasy team? Wilson.
- 37:06Yeah, same for me. Wilson or different I think
- 37:10from. I want to go with produce.
- 37:13I'm pretty high on him. Wow.
- 37:14Alright, fifth round protest for Jake.
- 37:16Yeah, yeah, I just. Saw the six six and he's like,
- 37:19man, all right, let's go to. Number 43.
- 37:26Number 43. OK, at #43 we've.
- 37:30Got. Let's actually tell most of them
- 37:31so. Oh my God, it's all connecting
- 37:35the pieces, all the three. We've got the New Jersey Devils.
- 37:39Last year they ranked #3 this year I've got them.
- 37:42I Josh, should I say I should I say I don't know, Just keep.
- 37:47Saying but I'm wasting a lot of time.
- 37:51That's outside by that anyways. I don't know when I find that
- 37:59OK. I ranked them at #4 because even
- 38:02made me put Washington at 3. Jackie had them at 3 and Kevin
- 38:05had them at #1. On the island for the first time
- 38:08ever. Yeah, wow.
- 38:10Me and Jake are on on a point here.
- 38:12Notable players, notable players.
- 38:14We've got Jacques. Thank you.
- 38:18JB. ITV I didn't have it written in
- 38:23front of me as well as last time.
- 38:26Yes, for brat Brat pack, yes, exactly.
- 38:29Niko Hesher, Dougie Hamilton, Timo Meyer, Jacob Markstrom and
- 38:34Luke Hughes. Their power play ranking last
- 38:36year was #3 a lot of threes here, so Kevin's clearly wrong.
- 38:40But yeah, these guys are all super exciting.
- 38:44This is one of the ones where I'm looking at the notable
- 38:47players in every single one of them is someone I'd be happy to
- 38:49have on my team. Mire the least because of the
- 38:51power play spot and Luke Hughes as well.
- 38:53But. This is Steven Mason.
- 38:58Yeah, but yeah, I know this is super exciting team.
- 39:00If you're a big points power play points lover then you'll
- 39:04enjoy having. These guys, I'm a mother lover
- 39:06you're. Oh my God.
- 39:10Say anything. Interject please.
- 39:14Alright, listen. So yeah, I think.
- 39:20Threw me off my groove. Main thing to talk about I
- 39:24believe is obviously Jack uses health.
- 39:28If he's healthy, I think we all believe he can hit 100 points,
- 39:30right? He's going to be a fringe around
- 39:32one player. I believe the 11th person
- 39:34picked. Fair, right?
- 39:37I've got I've got my whole this again, go into this in the the
- 39:39draft order episode his but we've kind of been discussing
- 39:42our top ten and he's the clear 11.
- 39:45Yeah, and we playing in a full on bangers league that has face
- 39:49offs, shorthanded points and everything, right?
- 39:51So like, yeah, he's just so good at shooting and point and power
- 39:54play points. You guys will get you 4 plus
- 39:55shots A. Game, yeah, it's very rare.
- 39:57But the other question is I think the defenseman on this
- 40:01power play, right? I think it's between Dougie and
- 40:03Loop because I think people are predicting.
- 40:06Dict if you predict that, like if you draft Luke as late as he
- 40:10should be drafted and then he steals that power play one spot,
- 40:12it's huge value. That's insane value.
- 40:15And if you draw you where he's going and then he doesn't get
- 40:17people one that looks bad. Exactly, yeah.
- 40:20And it's almost worth taking a shot at Hughes late just on the
- 40:23off chance to get that. Obviously the tough thing is how
- 40:25long do you hold on to him if he's not doing anything for a
- 40:27while? So that's the tough part.
- 40:28But if you draft him and see what happens at the start of the
- 40:31season, it's a it's definitely a possibility that happens because
- 40:34it happened in the past. And that probably was #3 in the
- 40:37league, yeah. I don't see them regressing.
- 40:38The thing is, Dougie is so good though.
- 40:40He's like a really good player. He's only 32.
- 40:42It's not like he's aging out completely and he's like one of
- 40:45the best offensive defensemen in the league.
- 40:47I don't even know why it's a question to me, like if I was
- 40:50the coach would obviously be buggy.
- 40:52Maybe the question is because you've got Jack Hughes there as
- 40:54well, like brothers stuff. I don't know.
- 40:56But the fact is it is a question and it makes me a bit wary of
- 40:59drafting Hamilton where I normally would be super happy
- 41:01because again, he's one of those shooters.
- 41:03He gets like 3.63 point seven shots from a defence in his
- 41:05massive power play, one explode. Like a mini Evan Bouchard type
- 41:09of thing. Yeah, exactly.
- 41:09I mean mine is the goals, but like the power.
- 41:11Production for sure. And honestly, I mean, they're
- 41:14probably was ranked higher than Edmonton last year.
- 41:16So it's just that big question that makes me wary.
- 41:18I don't know. Do you guys, do you guys take
- 41:20Dougie and just hope he keeps it?
- 41:21Or I like really want Dougie on my team because I want exposure
- 41:25to the top to how do what. Yeah.
- 41:32Yes, I wanted to teach me how to Dougie, but I also wanted to
- 41:35teach me how to run that power play baby.
- 41:36But because I think he's I think he's one of the most elite
- 41:41defensemen in terms for fantasy. If he keeps that P1 spot the
- 41:44whole season, he could be like a French top fighter.
- 41:47He could. Be one of those high risk high
- 41:48reward guys because of that risk there.
- 41:49He's going to drop a bit lower than he should if it was a
- 41:51guarantee you grab him if he keeps it you you got him a few
- 41:55rounds later than he should have.
- 41:56He doesn't keep it. That's honestly do you even hold
- 41:59on to him if he's not power play?
- 41:59One, I've done that in the past, right?
- 42:01I've drafted Dougie. Was it 2, two years ago?
- 42:04And then they just straight up Luke cues on there at the
- 42:06beginning and it was always like this week I'll put dog because
- 42:08the power play actually was bad that yeah.
- 42:10And then they never did. And then it took out one full
- 42:12year for them to be like, alright, I guess we'll put
- 42:13Dougie. That's one thing to note though,
- 42:15right? Dougie was the power play one
- 42:16quarterback last year and they were third rank.
- 42:18The year before it was Luke and they weren't very good.
- 42:20So Luke is young and is developing and getting older so.
- 42:24Stuff. There's also the whole contract
- 42:25thing with Luke was right, he hasn't signed his contract.
- 42:27There's a big discussion there. I wish he had so I could say my
- 42:30catch phrase, but I can't because there's nothing to
- 42:31follow so. Follow that.
- 42:33All the potential money. Yeah, exactly.
- 42:35Yeah. So stay tuned.
- 42:37It do I I do think it's possible for them to just bump off
- 42:42Nathan, to be honest. I know he plays an essential
- 42:44role. I think it's not impossible that
- 42:46you can have Meyer. I don't I don't see them
- 42:52running. You know, one or the other
- 42:53defensemen, but I think Meyer could bump.
- 42:56Nobody's gonna draft him, yeah. Look, I same thing with, as I
- 43:00mentioned with Hamilton, if you take Meyer where he's going,
- 43:03which is later than he should, if he had power play 1 and he
- 43:05gets power play one, that's another huge draft.
- 43:06Steal. Yeah, absolutely.
- 43:08The other thing we should mention?
- 43:09Holding him and he doesn't have. Any there is like why do they
- 43:12pick Simon Nemanja 2? It's like they already have
- 43:16something. For you already have so many
- 43:20good defensemen why I guess they were just going BPA best player
- 43:22available so well, which is something.
- 43:24So they probably use them as a trade off or something right?
- 43:27Yeah, they pass Cooley. Yeah.
- 43:29And Shane, right? Yeah, you're right.
- 43:31Actually, that was this Lefkofsky year.
- 43:33So I think that the idea for them at the time was that they
- 43:37wanted to pick a defence because they were loaded on offence.
- 43:39But now that you know, quote UN quote wasted a second overall
- 43:43pick. On rule drafting a third line C
- 43:47because nobody would been nobody's bumping Heatran Jack
- 43:50Hughes, right so. Exact centre.
- 43:51Yeah, a third line C is a lot worse.
- 43:53Than they put Cooley on the. Wings I just realized.
- 43:56Is there any way, shape or form that they try to develop him
- 43:59into the offensive guy? I know it doesn't seem like that
- 44:02name, it's just Luke uses the name.
- 44:04Crowded. It's like with Byerman Buffalo,
- 44:06there's no chance because there's someone named Dolly and
- 44:08there's someone named Power. So same here.
- 44:09There's someone named Hamilton, someone named Hughes.
- 44:11He's the classic, the guy that's gonna get traded for their
- 44:14window piece. What it feels like, it's a
- 44:17really, it's like the David Ryan Baker for the Habs.
- 44:20Like at this point I feel like he's not gonna.
- 44:21Be the Logan, my youth. Yeah, exactly.
- 44:23Because the piece we are missing.
- 44:26Yeah, if you look at Hughes stats, it's actually pretty
- 44:29impressive for a young guy. He's you.
- 44:31Know 22 years old, worth picking up?
- 44:32You picked him up last. Year in the house and he was
- 44:34great because he had that people one spot dog he was out with
- 44:36surgery or that yeah this season.
- 44:38I would personally fade Dougie. Just using image and use are the
- 44:42same age like ones much. I'm also fading Dougie.
- 44:46I just feel like there's nowhere to go but down.
- 44:47And for Hughes? There's no What do you mean?
- 44:49We just talked about how we can be a top five fantasy
- 44:52defenseman. No, but that's where you're
- 44:54drafting exactly. Yeah, but if we're not drafting
- 44:57at that ceiling, you're drafting him out like way later.
- 45:00Well, that OK. It depends obviously the price
- 45:01then yeah, but I don't think yeah.
- 45:03Later, like he he's around. He's around 6-7 defensemen in
- 45:08fantasy, yeah. Then he goes to five.
- 45:10I mean, it's nice. Evan Bouchard, Bouchard, the
- 45:12defence of the board. You got around 3:00.
- 45:14So you think there's any way Doug is better than?
- 45:16Mustard, No, not saying that, but I'm just saying if he could
- 45:19be closed and that's third round value.
- 45:21What? I'm still feeding him.
- 45:22I don't like having that headache.
- 45:24Yeah, I like. The headache is.
- 45:25Definitely enough round, yeah, but around six or seven, I want
- 45:27a guy who's guaranteed power play.
- 45:28One, yeah, I just don't know. I would pick up.
- 45:31I would just pick a forward over at that point for little queues.
- 45:3514, yeah. Here.
- 45:38Yeah, I would for this reason I could.
- 45:40But it could be a 0. Yeah, I basically wouldn't want
- 45:42to draft Dougie at cost and I'd be happy to draft Luka cost.
- 45:45I would not reach on much lower. Yeah, exactly.
- 45:47Let's touch on a few other names we did mention right before we
- 45:50go to the next team, like Brad is doing what he did last year.
- 45:53What do we think? Is he a second round talent?
- 45:55Third round talent. Everything I'm seeing in terms
- 45:57of like draft rankings have him as a second round pick.
- 46:00That's not what he produced last year.
- 46:02Last year, we expect there was no part of the Brat Pack.
- 46:06This year I'm I'm I'm intrigued by the Brat Pack, but.
- 46:10Look, I think he's going to be great this year, as he was last
- 46:13year. Maybe he was a bit less good.
- 46:16It's the shots. That's the shots for.
- 46:17Me the shots is the biggest reason why I wouldn't take him
- 46:20the two biggest reason I would take him in the second round is
- 46:211 is the shots and to us he just I hate taking guys were coming
- 46:24off a career year because it could always be a blip.
- 46:27It doesn't necessarily mean that they just took a step and that's
- 46:29their career what I take him in a third or fourth round 100%.
- 46:32I think he's a great player to have on your team.
- 46:34I think you gonna love having him on your team.
- 46:35But second Rich for me. If you if you do like a, I'm
- 46:39giving you a hypothetical. Proteins into yes.
- 46:41No, but let's say, let's say you got JT Miller in our draft,
- 46:44right? Like J, Yeah, you go on the
- 46:46turn, you get Darlene third round pick Yes for Brat.
- 46:50I love, yes, Brian, that exact scenario, which is your first
- 46:52two picks were more bangers. Exactly.
- 46:53So you got him to kind of supplement your points
- 46:56production. I think that's amazing way to
- 46:57construct a team. And Timo, are you, is he on your
- 47:02no draft list or are you still intrigued?
- 47:04I'm not. I'm not like against drafting
- 47:06him. I think someone's gonna take the
- 47:08shot at him earlier than I'm willing to.
- 47:10But I think he's gonna go to ADP.
- 47:11I think he has a he's a stink around him.
- 47:13Like people. People know that Demo is like
- 47:15notorious at this point for not delivering.
- 47:17No longer team of time. I'll be there a few times
- 47:20throughout. The year, No, honestly, I'm if
- 47:22he drops, I'm happy to take him. He does have that shot.
- 47:24Hits floor. Yeah.
- 47:25So he's not gonna be putting up zeros on your team?
- 47:28He finally found some chemistry in the last year I.
- 47:29Think the worst thing with team of the past couple years is that
- 47:31is where he's been drafted. You draft him expecting to be
- 47:33that power play one guy who's also contributing in the back,
- 47:36cat someone. He didn't do that.
- 47:37Everyone's disappointed in him Exactly and he should.
- 47:41If he was powerful one, that's a perfect spot to take him.
- 47:43So if he drops a couple of rounds from that and you grab
- 47:46him and you're not expect, you're expecting him to maybe be
- 47:48power play one for 1/3 of the games throughout the season due
- 47:50to injuries or whatever, then then you're super happy with
- 47:53him. So I'm not avoiding him.
- 47:54I don't have any ill will against him but I'm not taking
- 47:57him in the 1st 3/4. Rounds he he was special.
- 48:00Nikov. Basically.
- 48:01When he was on the Sharks, he was actually even better.
- 48:03He was unreal. He was amazing.
- 48:05I'm pretty sure that picked him this year that would.
- 48:07Be the worst thing to. Happen.
- 48:08Yeah, it's crazy. I don't know.
- 48:10You. Me neither, it makes no sense.
- 48:13And they gave him a. Decent.
- 48:13I think it's a role issue. It's.
- 48:14Not even the same coach. Like they switched coaches.
- 48:16Yeah, it's. The same issue, yeah, I don't
- 48:19understand. But you're dealing with the
- 48:20actual human aspect of it. Like probably lost some
- 48:23confidence when he first got there and it didn't work out
- 48:25right away. And then you're kind of trying
- 48:26to get back to where you were. And you're also going from being
- 48:28the guy on San Jose that had no one else at the time.
- 48:31Yeah, part of the back. Exactly.
- 48:33Exactly. There's a -, 28 two years ago
- 48:36that's horrible, but last year was the first year were Sheldon
- 48:38Keefe. He was but +7 8053 points in 80
- 48:42games. Listen, it's not bad actually,
- 48:44it's just his accounts. It's the power play production.
- 48:46The P1 is so good that nobody in P2 is ever getting any time.
- 48:49Yeah. So it's like.
- 48:51Why is Nathan there? It's just because the wrong guy.
- 48:53Yeah, but Meyer could do that. Yeah, Myers is a big deal, Yeah.
- 48:56They wanna waste Meyer in that role when somebody else can do
- 48:58it and they just rather have a better weather.
- 49:00Look, that makes sense. It's not like it's doing much
- 49:02else, yeah. You know if the P2 ever does
- 49:05come out, like they wanna have actually guys that are capable
- 49:08there. He's 6 foot 220.
- 49:10That's a unit. It's a little Teach Thompson
- 49:12produce. Let's go to a foot.
- 49:20Picked before Rantanen. That's wild when that happened.
- 49:23Imagine that's. Actually, crazy Colorado missed
- 49:25out. Yeah, exactly.
- 49:28Alright, number. Two at #2 we've got the New York
- 49:32Rangers last year they ranked #5 shocking.
- 49:36Absolutely everyone. Josh slash me has them.
- 49:39Ranked. Number one this year, yeah,
- 49:42that's my spicy take. They're jumping up to 1.
- 49:44Jakey has them ranked at #2 and Kevin has them ranked #3 Some
- 49:47notable players, JT Miller, Jonathan Donathan Talisman,
- 49:52Exactly are Tammy Panarin, the bread man, Igor Chesterton,
- 49:56Vinnie Trocheck, Adam Fox, Mika Zibanejad, Alexis Lafreniere,
- 50:00and of course Will Cooley. Last year their power play
- 50:03ranked. If you guys aren't looking at
- 50:06the dock, I'd like to hear your guesses.
- 50:08If you already looked then it's fine.
- 50:09But no the Rangers. You say 20.
- 50:13What do you say? 17.
- 50:16They ranked 28th. Wow is that insane?
- 50:19Is that true? Reading positive regression.
- 50:21Big time. There's, I feel like your
- 50:24priority number one. They were like, yeah. 100% this
- 50:27is the biggest glaring. There's already enough reasons
- 50:30that we've pointed out over the past couple episodes why we love
- 50:32love the Rangers as they bounce back candidate.
- 50:34But this is the biggest glaring thing.
- 50:36They do not belong at 28. They're among the likes of the
- 50:39Ducks and Philly. It doesn't make any sense.
- 50:44Look at how many notable players I mentioned.
- 50:46I don't think there's a single player on that list I'd be
- 50:47unhappy with on my roster. This is the most obvious
- 50:50turnaround story for this year. Yeah.
- 50:52I just can't see them being as bad.
- 50:54I don't like their defence. You guys pointed out how Gabber?
- 50:57Called. Really is a good defensive
- 50:58defenseman. Yeah, which is absolutely fair.
- 51:01I. Think I'm not discounting them
- 51:04or giving any plus what him and counter.
- 51:06Miller yeah, but I think the offence is where this team has
- 51:10spread about. These top 2 lines are fire.
- 51:12They're. Talking about talismanic,
- 51:14Jonathan Tonaton also just got named captain of the.
- 51:17That's big news. He literally just got traded
- 51:19there. He gets name captain.
- 51:20Yeah, that's. Easy.
- 51:21We really like what we saw in those thirty.
- 51:22Games. Yeah, exactly like we remember
- 51:24five years ago. You're really good on this team,
- 51:26so we're gonna be captain. D's in depth too.
- 51:29I mean, I wouldn't say they're 3rd or 4th liners.
- 51:31Anything to write home about. We spoke about Gabriel Perot in
- 51:34our in our. Caller.
- 51:36Caller candidates like a fringe, you know.
- 51:40It was like if he stays in the NHL, maybe he could.
- 51:43Yeah. I don't expect much.
- 51:44There's too much sick depth in the top 6 here.
- 51:47Yeah, this is just, but that's what's so great for fantasy is
- 51:50to is to have a team that's gonna need to score.
- 51:52I would say also Igor, just a great goalie.
- 51:55Igor. I will say a lot of times we
- 51:57talk about these really good teams that have too many mouths
- 51:59to feed and what I like about the Rangers guys who are in that
- 52:04list, too many. First of all, there's just
- 52:06enough. There's also a bit of that
- 52:07aspect, too many. But the guys who are on the
- 52:09fringe are bangers, are great at Vengers, so even if they don't
- 52:12get as many of the points, you're still going to contribute
- 52:14in dangers. So they're still very valuable
- 52:16down your team. I'm looking at a Trocheck and
- 52:17Aquilian laugh. Yeah, the the main thing I think
- 52:20to talk about with the Rangers is obviously it's Mikasa manage
- 52:23AD I think we had we had them on.
- 52:25Our one trap player. #1 trap player for where he was going
- 52:28and name value and all that. And I think it's just the
- 52:31question on do you believe that he keeps a P1 spot or not?
- 52:34And I mean, I'm personally on the Cam that I think he ends up
- 52:38getting bumped off and I think he ends up missing out.
- 52:40I think it's going to be JT Miller, Panera and Adam Fox.
- 52:42Those are your three locks. I think Lafreniere this year
- 52:45gets a lock on that spot with no more Cryder and I think there's
- 52:48one spot left for Mika or Trojak.
- 52:52I think Project could easily be the net front guy.
- 52:54Listen, I wouldn't be shocked if Zabana starts there and Check
- 52:58just runs a second unit because we've seen him run the second
- 53:00unit in the past. But.
- 53:01Look, I fully agree with your 3 locks.
- 53:03Those are obvious. Miller, Panarin, Fox.
- 53:04And then it's going to be like you said, some mix of Zibanejad,
- 53:07Trocheck and laugh. So one of those guys gonna be
- 53:10the one out to me. I see Trocheck as the odd man
- 53:12out, but there's lots to think about.
- 53:15Looking at the names on the list, I think protects the admin
- 53:18out. But it's like you said with the
- 53:19role they play. I still think.
- 53:21I think they could put laugh as the net front guy instead of
- 53:23Trocheck. Yeah.
- 53:23And so that could kind of make sense.
- 53:25That's kind of how I see it. I do still think depends where
- 53:28you get taken in terms of advantage.
- 53:29I'd like as early as last year, I think he was a second rounder.
- 53:342 years ago he was definitely a second rounder.
- 53:35Last year maybe he was a second, third rounder.
- 53:37So I'm curious to see where he goes this year.
- 53:39It's like he had the best year last year.
- 53:41I'm also down on them on on him specifically because the team
- 53:45hated him. Try to treat.
- 53:46Him, I mean, he could still get treated.
- 53:48I don't think that's out of the realm of possibility.
- 53:50He also might be playing third line centre.
- 53:51The the the coach had a. Strength.
- 53:54Not much to write home. About the coach had an interview
- 53:55today where they were basically asking like Zibanejad playing on
- 53:59J's wing, how do we feel about it?
- 54:00And he basically said, obviously we're running with that right
- 54:03now and we'll see you like, you know, if that's the best
- 54:05decision moving forward or whatnot.
- 54:07Or if he basically said like hypothetically, if he was our
- 54:10third see, like I don't see any other team that has better than
- 54:13us, which is probably true, right?
- 54:14Trochaic JTS. Imagine down the middle.
- 54:16Is about being line 3 powerfully 1.
- 54:18Yep. And like but how good is that?
- 54:20Fine, but he's gonna get like no even strength.
- 54:22For that it feels like it's laughs job to lose though on
- 54:26power. Play one for now.
- 54:27I think he's a staple. I think they finally paid him.
- 54:30I think Kreider's gone. I feel like they need another
- 54:32winger there and I think he slots in perfectly.
- 54:34They wanted to take a jump. I totally, I totally agree.
- 54:37I just think if they're having some issues, he's going to be
- 54:39the first one to go. So if he does get bumped off
- 54:43power play one because I think that they're going to do that in
- 54:45favor of project before they zip off, I just think.
- 54:48That that's the way it wasn't good last year.
- 54:50No, but it was his worst year in awhile I will.
- 54:53Say, but it's also like his oldest year that he's had.
- 54:55Yeah, no, for sure. Yeah, definitely.
- 54:57I'm less. I'm probably less low on him
- 55:00than you guys, but I'm also low. I'm not drafting him in the
- 55:02second round like that's. Not a thing, no.
- 55:03His ADP is much lower this year. He's gonna be like a fifth or
- 55:06sixth round. Pick Would you take him?
- 55:07There, no, I would ask. I wouldn't take him there
- 55:10either. I just think the surrounding
- 55:11guys I like better. Yeah, fair.
- 55:14I. Little office going much later.
- 55:15I'd rather, I'd rather have laugh.
- 55:17Yeah, I, I agree. I I see what you're saying it.
- 55:21Just I'd rather have cool you. I love will cooling.
- 55:24Yeah. Actually yeah.
- 55:25And you can get willfully like 8 rounds later.
- 55:28Probably he'll be like around 1314, yeah.
- 55:31Yeah, but nevertheless, I love the Rangers and the odd one out.
- 55:36It would suck to have him. Let's say the odd one out of Zib
- 55:41and Trojak. Trocheck is my.
- 55:43Favorite. Yes, exactly.
- 55:44Because he's so good at the back.
- 55:45Yeah, I would be scared. I love short check every year
- 55:49for bangers leagues. Like even if he doesn't have
- 55:50PP1, he's just a monster he has. Over the face off wins, but even
- 55:53without it, is he still? He hits 2.5 shots, 2.5 hits
- 55:57around 10 faceoff wins and he's getting you some points exposure
- 56:00to like he's pretty good at five on five production is pretty
- 56:02good playing with Karen and laugh.
- 56:04Yeah, this is one of those guys that every time I play a game,
- 56:06but I hate it, so I want him so badly this year so I never have
- 56:09to play. Again.
- 56:09Yeah. It just depends where you where
- 56:12he goes. Honestly, and he's just such an
- 56:14asset. JT Miller is the best person for
- 56:17categories and I would say points league people are.
- 56:21People don't know how to feel about J Miller because in our
- 56:25league specifically, he's like a first round.
- 56:26Pick because undervalued and leagues that aren't ours.
- 56:30I think our league people value where you should be.
- 56:32Yeah, I mean, Kevin's debating taking him.
- 56:34I don't wanna spoil for our draft.
- 56:36Order. He could be a the 6th or 7th
- 56:39overall pick if you hit face off wins and and Pimms and shots and
- 56:43hits. Yeah, for a league like that,
- 56:45like Jaguars, it's amazing. Yeah.
- 56:47You know, the one thing it feels like it was never happy in
- 56:51Vancouver, yet he was so good in Vancouver and now he's happy in
- 56:54New York. Will he still be good?
- 56:56You know it's. Like when you get in a
- 56:57relationship you gained like 20 lbs or whatever.
- 56:59Yeah exactly. Happy you can get like lazy and
- 57:02I just. Captain, you know you.
- 57:04Just made that I don't think. I don't either.
- 57:07But let's talk about #1. Yeah, All right.
- 57:10At numero Uno, we've got the Carolina Hurricanes.
- 57:13Last year they finished second. Yeah, it's the one team
- 57:16remaining. So last year they finished
- 57:19second. Josh and Kevin have them ranked
- 57:21at 2nd, and Jake has them ranked at first.
- 57:23Some notable players we've got Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis,
- 57:26Nikolai Eilers, Andre Svechnikov, Shayne Gostisbehere
- 57:29and Alexander Nikisha. I just tossed that in.
- 57:31And then I guess you can mention their goalies, Anderson and
- 57:34Kochetkov as. Well, and I was going to say
- 57:35future calling Hurricane Carol. So, and they're powerfully
- 57:39ranked 25th. That's actually.
- 57:42Is a fantasy terrorist. And yes, the fantasy terrorist.
- 57:47Yeah. So let me ask, if Kaprizov does
- 57:49go there, are we ranking them one all of us?
- 57:53Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
- 57:54Do you agree? Probably, yeah.
- 57:56I feel like you. Can 100%.
- 57:58I mean, obviously it depends what goes in return.
- 58:00We said the same thing about Rantanen and look how that went.
- 58:04I mean, they made it to the third round.
- 58:07They always make it a third round.
- 58:08They just, they just get wrecked.
- 58:09Swapped. Yeah.
- 58:10Yeah, this is a this is a just a really good IRL team that sucks
- 58:15for fantasy. We've been through this so many.
- 58:17Times good assets, but yeah, it definitely all these guys would
- 58:19do better if they were on a different team or coach by
- 58:21different. Person the main the main things
- 58:23I think for fantasy this year are I'm seeing special because
- 58:27ADB severely lower than it was last year.
- 58:30Like you can get him in the sixth or seventh round.
- 58:32Last year he was a third fourth round pick.
- 58:33Yeah, rightfully so, though I I think.
- 58:36I mean, it was, hasn't been. Get together people are stopping
- 58:39to believe in him. I like him though there 6-7
- 58:42that's a good spot to get him for his.
- 58:43Timo Meier under specially called this year.
- 58:46I would take smash. Both of these guys were third
- 58:48fourth round pick last year and now there are 6 seven round.
- 58:50Picked simply. Takes fetching as.
- 58:52Well, the Pimms. It's.
- 58:54Kind of what sets them apart from Meijer, and at least
- 58:57there's that, yeah. That's it too.
- 59:00He does those categories as well.
- 59:01Yeah, so. And even when he has his off
- 59:04years, he's gonna get you point 6.7 points per game.
- 59:07It just sucks because it seemed with Meyer where you just know
- 59:09their potential is so much higher.
- 59:11Yeah, Yeah. But now if you don't have to
- 59:12take them at that cost, then it's a.
- 59:14Yeah, in the Discord community, one of one of the members asked
- 59:17us about Nikishin. So I will say that's worth
- 59:20talking about because it's definitely.
- 59:22Has a lot of upside. Exciting guy.
- 59:24Yeah, I mean exhausters. Bingers guy, he's gonna hidden
- 59:27block which I'm seeing which is really nice.
- 59:30I don't see him getting power play 1.
- 59:32I. Just don't see if it happens.
- 59:34It won't be until at least halfway through the season.
- 59:36The thing is we saw Ghost gets that happened.
- 59:38I'm not saying it's going to be consistent thing, but I don't I
- 59:40don't think if they're if they're seeing bright flashes
- 59:44from Nikishin, first of all, they're epileptic doctor, but.
- 59:50Also, but I wouldn't be surprised if.
- 59:52They want to, like, revel in that.
- 59:54Like development I guess. OK fine, if ghost loses power
- 59:59play. One, he's not going to be on the
- 1:00:01team. Let's just say that you're not
- 1:00:02gonna play him. And he's probably one they
- 1:00:05haven't for the power play. Exactly.
- 1:00:06So if they don't put on power play 1, they're like.
- 1:00:08OK, this is a failed experiment. We're done with him, which could
- 1:00:11happen, but he's definitely gonna get the chance to start
- 1:00:13out because his only use the team is his power play and
- 1:00:16Nikisha is also a rookie who has to work his way forward.
- 1:00:20And once. When has Rod ever done anything
- 1:00:23that's nice for fantasy? Great to get Nikisha and then
- 1:00:27becomes. Power play one in a bank he.
- 1:00:28Becomes like a most sider Mackenzie Weegar, you know?
- 1:00:30Yeah, but but when is Rod ever helped us out?
- 1:00:32So the only guys that are immune to the rock curse are Sebastian,
- 1:00:35Aho and Seth. Jarvis, like how much to say?
- 1:00:37Like Aho is still a top producer.
- 1:00:38Jarvis still a top producer. Think healers.
- 1:00:41I was going to say like, obviously Aho.
- 1:00:43And Jarvis are the safest. Guys like they also have the
- 1:00:45shorthanded production, which is really, really nice for things
- 1:00:48that have shorthanded points. Like they're so reliable.
- 1:00:50Jarvis is one of my favorite players in the league.
- 1:00:53He was like a fantasy stud for me last year.
- 1:00:55I've never had Aho, but he's 1-2 Ellers is the big question.
- 1:00:58We saw Euler's finally break out with that P1 role on Winnipeg
- 1:01:02last year and he thrived. Yeah, then he gets treated like
- 1:01:05just sign signs, two different. I'm not touching him personally.
- 1:01:08I'm also scared. Exact.
- 1:01:10Type of player that Rod suffocates.
- 1:01:11It is. Exactly, I almost feel like he's
- 1:01:14just not good. Enough to be there.
- 1:01:15Do you know what? I mean, what do you mean?
- 1:01:16I feel like if he was a little bit better, I'd be more worried.
- 1:01:19And he's just like not elite enough that maybe he could be
- 1:01:22OK. Like Stankovic.
- 1:01:23You know, Stankovic was better on Carolina than he was on
- 1:01:26Dallas. Brandon was an abomination.
- 1:01:28Yeah, you know what I mean. Like.
- 1:01:30Ranting is way too good. I almost feel like Kaprizov is
- 1:01:32better than ranting and enough that he could succeed.
- 1:01:35Yeah, you know the ranting on the ice.
- 1:01:38On the ice, who know? I think, yeah.
- 1:01:41I've got a fun. I've got a.
- 1:01:44Fun. Seth Jarvis, would you rather
- 1:01:45for both of you guys? Yeah, it's a different one.
- 1:01:47For each of you, tailored, tailor made, I'll start with
- 1:01:50Kevin, Seth Jarvis or Brandon Hagel.
- 1:01:54Give me Hagel. OK?
- 1:01:55Wow. But it's closed.
- 1:01:56They're 80. It's very close.
- 1:01:58To me, I think I'm just a believer.
- 1:01:59In the Hagel P1, yeah. So if Hagel doesn't have P1,
- 1:02:03let's say like we go into this we know is gonna be two.
- 1:02:05I'd go that Travis. OK, I'm also going Hagel out of
- 1:02:08those two. I think it's super.
- 1:02:09Close Jakey, Seth Jarvis or Marty Nagis.
- 1:02:13This will no doubt. I think that. 1 is a very close
- 1:02:16as. Well, I didn't wait to talk
- 1:02:18about Colorado. And the central discussion, like
- 1:02:21I am the surprise #0 say I started.
- 1:02:25Like now that we found out our draft positions, I've started
- 1:02:27looking. At where my picks land.
- 1:02:30And so I'm seeing different clusters of players.
- 1:02:32And so those three guys were in a cluster altogether and they're
- 1:02:34all gonna get picked within a few pics of each other.
- 1:02:37And so that's why it's like the third round, both of you guys,
- 1:02:39third, fourth round. Yeah.
- 1:02:40I think it's, I think I'm seeing that.
- 1:02:42As round. Early round 4 I'm super high on
- 1:02:45anxious though. That's a fair.
- 1:02:47Question. That's why I asked you both,
- 1:02:48because I know he's Kevin. Super high on your super.
- 1:02:50On inches but I love always sound drivers is sick.
- 1:02:53I love how drivers centre. Yeah.
- 1:02:54I mean, I think it's awesome. The reasons, all three
- 1:02:57eligibilities, Yeah, the reason I think that.
- 1:02:59This team is so good is simply because.
- 1:03:00They have the best Corp and the league.
- 1:03:02Can you say that? It's almost there.
- 1:03:04One of the best at least Carolina.
- 1:03:05Yeah, as a real like an. IRL not.
- 1:03:10Sleeping is arguably the best defensive.
- 1:03:14Sean Walker is pretty good too. Yeah, you know, should be good.
- 1:03:17Yeah. So.
- 1:03:19That I wouldn't say I honestly. Wouldn't say it's the best
- 1:03:21decor. In the team, the haves have a
- 1:03:23sick decor. It's not to be real with
- 1:03:27Buffalo, honestly, yeah. Buffalo what you've got.
- 1:03:31Darlene Power, Byram Kesselring. Yeah, that's.
- 1:03:34Yeah. So what's the one thing they
- 1:03:36paid? Samuelson?
- 1:03:37Yeah. So sick decor.
- 1:03:39Coach that wins. A lot of games you'd think it
- 1:03:41would be super great to have one of these goalies.
- 1:03:44Just which one? I think it's finally the year
- 1:03:47that has passed to him. Wow, that sucks, but it's true.
- 1:03:52It's fair. Listen, I know you guys have
- 1:03:53them at one. I have them at 2:00.
- 1:03:55I could see. Them finishing third, I have
- 1:03:56them at 2:00 as well. Yeah.
- 1:03:57So Jasmine one. Yeah, yeah, I can see.
- 1:03:59Them finishing third. Behind the two New York teams, I
- 1:04:02would not be shocked. New York, I had the Rangers
- 1:04:04ahead of them because I can just see the offence like.
- 1:04:05Not clicking properly and then like.
- 1:04:08Really liking there the power play wasn't anything like crazy
- 1:04:11either right so that was 25th. So there you go.
- 1:04:14I think that this is a very good team made-up of.
- 1:04:16One superstar who is the only superstar.
- 1:04:19I think they have a bunch of very decent players, like
- 1:04:22they're just really good, but they don't have to get over the
- 1:04:24hump day I. I will say that until I see it
- 1:04:27to win, like I don't think they're a top team in the
- 1:04:30Eastern. Conference thing is great at
- 1:04:32getting swept in the conference finals, yeah.
- 1:04:34Really good at that I. Would put them second or third.
- 1:04:36I would never put them like. As the best team here and I just
- 1:04:38like I think all the other teams have a better chance of being
- 1:04:41the best team if that makes sense.
- 1:04:43I think to be fair though, also they're just a bit.
- 1:04:45Unexciting and the fact that rod suppresses a lot of the yeah fun
- 1:04:49players so this is the one thing that lower of it them than there
- 1:04:53actually. Should be.
- 1:04:54So I get what he puts them at 1:00 because there can real
- 1:04:57life, they're consistent, they're a really good team.
- 1:04:59He's a great coach for real life, but it's a little less
- 1:05:01exciting for fantasy. But I think we should wrap it
- 1:05:04up. There was a long one last thing.
- 1:05:06Do you guys like Jackson? Blake or Stankovic?
- 1:05:08More this year. Think of.
- 1:05:10You mean P1 Jackson Blake. You mean follow that money,
- 1:05:13Jackson? Blake, I'll just think, OK,
- 1:05:14wait. One day we didn't actually
- 1:05:15mention Taylor Hall. I feel like he could be a.
- 1:05:18Good. I feel like he could be like a
- 1:05:19real interest in having on my team.
- 1:05:21He could be the guy who drives like around. 18 I would.
- 1:05:24Never do no OK my opinion on he was pretty.
- 1:05:26Good last year that. He's going to get.
- 1:05:27You 0 back cats so. All he's good for his points.
- 1:05:30And he's not on Power Play 1. And there's just so many players
- 1:05:33ahead, about just 30. Cotton Yami.
- 1:05:35No, that is. Name I'd be happy to never hear
- 1:05:37again. He makes this team next year.
- 1:05:40I think he's gonna. Get rid of it like I could
- 1:05:43already tell. He's gonna be.
- 1:05:44Playing for, like some sort of like, finished logo that I just
- 1:05:48don't recognize this year. I just kept saying, like, a
- 1:05:51bunch of players go to the sea. But I was like, what's this like
- 1:05:53Russian team, this guy. All right, now it's the Mammoth.
- 1:05:56But yeah, he's gonna he's not going to be in the NHL, I don't
- 1:05:59think, past this year. All right, that wraps it up for
- 1:06:03the breakdown of the Metropolitan Division.
- 1:06:05A real fun one, a little spicier than I thought it'd be honest.
