- 0:53Speaker 1: first time that the Canadian Olympic team has ever been
- 0:58Speaker 1: shut out in forty one.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Games at the Olympics.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Canada's thirty seven and four, All four losses have come
- 1:07Speaker 1: to the US. This year's US team now three and oh.
- 1:11Speaker 1: That was a preliminary game. They will start into the

- 1:19Speaker 1: a couple of days. The US first US's first mixed
- 1:25Speaker 1: doubles curling gold medal. The Corries got beat in the
- 1:31Speaker 1: eighth end. How does that happen? You gotta hate that.
- 1:36Speaker 1: The Swedes pull it out six to five for the goal.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Mikayla Schiffrin still can't do anything at the Olympics. She
- 1:48Speaker 1: fell in a team slalom event, finished fifteenth out of
- 1:53Speaker 1: eighteen skiers. She had not finished worse than second in
- 1:59Speaker 1: any World Cup race this year, So.
- 2:06Speaker 4: I can't help you there. Let's see the Aussies one.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And what else do I have? That's probably enough if

- 2:23Speaker 1: You know now by now that Lindsey Vaughn suffered a
- 2:28Speaker 1: complex fracture of the tibia with multiple injuries, but says
- 2:35Speaker 1: she has no regrets and that her ACL injury had
- 2:41Speaker 1: nothing to do with her fall. On Sunday, a lot
- 2:47Speaker 1: of people commenting on the judge's decision. Daniel Pruitt CIRCA
- 2:53Speaker 1: judge denied a preliminary injunction in Charles Bettiaco's lawsuit against
- 2:59Speaker 1: the NCUBA, meaning as of right now he cannot play
- 3:04Speaker 1: for Alabama anymore. He played five games, averaged ten points
- 3:11Speaker 1: about four and a half rebounds.
- 3:13Speaker 4: He played against A and M.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Didn't do that great, but he's a seven foot in
- 3:19Speaker 1: the presence at the rim. Alabama will have to do
- 3:23Speaker 1: without him, and there are no number one power teams
- 3:28Speaker 1: left in college basketball. After last night, the fog did
- 3:34Speaker 1: it again at Allen field House, Kansas took down Arizona
- 3:39Speaker 1: eighty two seventy eight. I got to tell you this
- 3:44Speaker 1: shocked me. I'm watching the game last night and Kansas
- 3:48Speaker 1: had never beaten a number one team at.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Allen field House. I mean that is crazy.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Bill self is forty and oh in Big Mondays at
- 4:06Speaker 1: Allen Fieldhouse.
- 4:08Speaker 4: They're playing without star.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Darren Peterson who had the flu, and oh my gosh,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I just can't believe that stat that they had never
- 4:21Speaker 1: beaten a number one team at alan Fieldhouse.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Well, guess what now they have?
- 4:30Speaker 1: Vanderbilt is at Auburn tonight, Houston, Utah tonight, Alabama, LSU tonight,
- 4:41Speaker 1: Perdue and Nebraska a big one in the Big Ten
- 4:49Speaker 1: BYU is at Baylor. Let's see Iowa States at TCU.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Duke is a Pitt. Those are the games tonight tomorrow night.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Of course, A and M and Missouri that's an eight
- 5:07Speaker 1: o'clock game at Ried Arena. Man pitchers and catchers Today
- 5:15Speaker 1: the first workout in Surprise, Arizona for your Texas Rangers.
- 5:21Speaker 1: The Astros start tomorrow. Okay tomorrow. Justin Verlander, I'm gonna
- 5:30Speaker 1: try one more year, forty two years old, has agreed
- 5:32Speaker 1: to a one year deal with Detroit. The Tigers took
- 5:37Speaker 1: Verlander with the number two pick of the four MLB draft.
- 5:42Speaker 1: He spent thirteen years there, won one hundred and eighty
- 5:47Speaker 1: three games there.
- 5:49Speaker 4: He was a six time All Star.
- 5:51Speaker 1: He threw two no hitters, and he is back in Detroit.
- 6:00Speaker 1: In twenty seventeen, of course, was the trade to the Astros.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Won two Cy Youngs, their two World Series there. Justin
- 6:11Speaker 1: Verlander has been pretty good. Like I said twenty he's
- 6:18Speaker 1: forty two years old, so we will see what happens.
- 6:22Speaker 1: He's still got some pop left. Tomorrow on the program,
- 6:30Speaker 1: Scott Clindenon will be in.
- 6:32Speaker 4: I will visit with Steve Denton.
- 6:33Speaker 1: We're going to visit on Wednesdays this season, and it'll
- 6:37Speaker 1: be our first visit tomorrow with the men's tennis coach.
- 6:40Speaker 1: All Right, Skip Hollins, where has been with us a
- 6:43Speaker 1: number of times. He is a terrific crime writer and
- 6:47Speaker 1: investigative reporter for Texas Monthly. He wrote a book called
- 6:52Speaker 1: She Kills. This was a compilation of the articles he
- 6:56Speaker 1: has done over the years on females who were accused,
- 7:02Speaker 1: some of whom convicted of murder. There are some amazing
- 7:09Speaker 1: stories in the book and one of our favorite guys,
- 7:14Speaker 1: one of our favorite writers. I decided to replay an
- 7:18Speaker 1: interview we did with Skip earlier.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Again. The book is called She Kills. We're going to
- 7:27Speaker 4: jump out to.
- 7:27Speaker 1: The player's fund center phone line and visit with veteran
- 7:32Speaker 1: true crime author, writer, reporter. It's always great to welcome
- 7:38Speaker 1: Skip Hollinsworth back.
- 7:39Speaker 4: Skip, How are you you know?
- 7:42Speaker 5: I was just thinking, we haven't done a Aggie murder
- 7:44Speaker 5: story in a long time. Are you going on down there?
- 7:49Speaker 5: You guys must be getting nicer.
- 7:51Speaker 4: You're not trying. You're not trying to encourage me?
- 7:54Speaker 5: Are you no encouragement?
- 7:56Speaker 6: Now?
- 7:56Speaker 4: I don't want to be part of your stories.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I'm just telling you flat out, I do not want
- 8:00Speaker 1: to be part of your story.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Okay, give up again.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So in the book, which, by the way, the first
- 8:10Speaker 1: chapter was released at Texas Monthly, today on the millionaire
- 8:16Speaker 1: oil man and his wife found fatally shot at their
- 8:21Speaker 1: mansion in Wichita Falls, Bobby and Abby BYRDS, you write
- 8:25Speaker 1: that that's kind of where your interests first peaked with
- 8:29Speaker 1: this crime stuff.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Correct.
- 8:32Speaker 5: I was sixteen years old, and I was as whitebred as
- 8:35Speaker 5: they come. I didn't even know anybody who had ever
- 8:37Speaker 5: been arrested at that point in my life. And I
- 8:45Speaker 5: saw that headline on the front page of the wich
- 8:47Speaker 5: Solfall's paper and could not fathom that this was happening
- 8:53Speaker 5: within three miles of my house. He is one of
- 8:55Speaker 5: the richest oilmens in Texas. She was this beauty of
- 8:59Speaker 5: former model war name and Marcus Close. They had a
- 9:02Speaker 5: private jet that they flew from which stuff alls to Dallas,
- 9:06Speaker 5: you know, classic woman lifestyle, And I don't know. I
- 9:11Speaker 5: just began to become obsessed because no one seemed to
- 9:14Speaker 5: know what had happened. Then the medical examiner repot came
- 9:18Speaker 5: out and it was that she had shot him and
- 9:21Speaker 5: then turned the gun on herself and shot herself. And
- 9:25Speaker 5: so here was this murders suicide that bewildered, trans terrified
- 9:30Speaker 5: and transfixed everybody, including me, and never solved, never well
- 9:38Speaker 5: somebody's got to know. But fifty years later, no one's
- 9:42Speaker 5: telling me about it.
- 9:43Speaker 1: And most of those people who are alive skip aren't
- 9:46Speaker 1: with us anymore.
- 9:49Speaker 6: I'm sorry.
- 9:49Speaker 1: What most of those folks who might know something, they're
- 9:53Speaker 1: probably not with us anymore.
- 9:55Speaker 5: That's true. There's a few old people o quads around,
- 10:00Speaker 5: old woman, you know, people who know how to hold
- 10:04Speaker 5: the hide secrets. But none of them had read the
- 10:08Speaker 5: first chapter of the book and said, Okay, I'm going
- 10:10Speaker 5: to call Hollins.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Where straight.
- 10:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Uh. Lots of like stories flying around about unfaithfulness on
- 10:22Speaker 1: both of their parts, but again never quite proven, was
- 10:26Speaker 1: it never?
- 10:29Speaker 5: I mean, this is a classic example of being a reporter.
- 10:34Speaker 5: I heard ridiculous rumored about what had happened out there
- 10:39Speaker 5: and why she shot him. And you can't run him
- 10:44Speaker 5: because there's no no proof record, there's no police report,
- 10:49Speaker 5: there's no police chief saying this is what we think happens. Nothing. Yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 5: so it just goes to the wastebind, the Texas Monthly Wastemand.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I tell you, this is a story I don't think
- 11:05Speaker 1: I had ever read until I read the book. Was
- 11:09Speaker 1: the last ride of Cowboy Bob.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Oh my god, tell.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Our listeners about Peggy Joe Tallis. First of all, what
- 11:17Speaker 1: kind of woman was she?
- 11:20Speaker 5: Well, at the time, you know, she grew up in
- 11:23Speaker 5: Grand Prairie. She's feisty, She drove a little Fiat, she
- 11:29Speaker 5: loved to go to concerts on Lower Greenville and drink beer.
- 11:33Speaker 5: And she one day just got in the car and
- 11:37Speaker 5: drove to San Francisco to meet Lawrence Burlinghetti, the head
- 11:40Speaker 5: of that City Lights bookstore. And she just had one
- 11:43Speaker 5: of her friends that she just had the spirit in her.
- 11:47Speaker 5: And in nineteen ninety one, you know, one of the
- 11:55Speaker 5: things I would do with Texas Mouthley is tear out
- 11:57Speaker 5: articles from the newspapers. Yeah, to think that this might
- 12:01Speaker 5: make a story for me to investigate. Sure that back then,
- 12:05Speaker 5: when we had newspapers like that, they could be torn out,
- 12:08Speaker 5: and I, uh, you know, she got there were these
- 12:15Speaker 5: stories about this cowboy, this man dressed, this scalboy who
- 12:19Speaker 5: was robbing all these little banks. They finally, by luck,
- 12:23Speaker 5: caught him and it turned out to be a woman,
- 12:25Speaker 5: a middle aged woman named Peggy Joe Talon, the woman
- 12:29Speaker 5: who was limed up in the Dallas single life in
- 12:31Speaker 5: the seventies. Well, I could not stop thinking about it,
- 12:38Speaker 5: and you know, called around, and finally a niece began
- 12:44Speaker 5: to talk, and someone else began to talk, and now
- 12:49Speaker 5: came this story that after she spent three years in prison,
- 12:53Speaker 5: federal prison for robbing banks as a young woman, now
- 12:57Speaker 5: that she was an older, middle aged woman. Seven years later,
- 13:00Speaker 5: I think she got out of prison on good behavior,
- 13:03Speaker 5: she started robbing banks again, dressed as a man, not
- 13:08Speaker 5: as the cowboy anymore, but as a man. And I
- 13:12Speaker 5: just thought about this. Her favorite movie, her niece told me,
- 13:17Speaker 5: was Butch Cassidy and the Sun Dance Kids. Two guys
- 13:21Speaker 5: who you know, we're gonna go down in a blaze
- 13:24Speaker 5: of glory, that we're never going to rob poor people,
- 13:29Speaker 5: were never going to cause any violence. And in two
- 13:38Speaker 5: thousand and five she had hit a number of banks
- 13:42Speaker 5: in East Texas and she didn't have a car, but
- 13:46Speaker 5: she had her old RV and she drove her RV
- 13:49Speaker 5: up into a bank parking lot, got out, said, as
- 13:53Speaker 5: did the teller, knows that this is a robbery. Give
- 13:55Speaker 5: me all your money, no bake bills. Brother Taylor did
- 13:58Speaker 5: give her some bake bills, and those exploded when you
- 14:01Speaker 5: go through that red dye, when you go through the
- 14:04Speaker 5: gale to the door and she began running. She had
- 14:11Speaker 5: hit the jackpot for her for small town bankrupting, small
- 14:15Speaker 5: time bank rubber. I think she got twelve thousand dollars
- 14:18Speaker 5: for the teller. But the alarm went off and she
- 14:21Speaker 5: got popped going through the door on the red dye.
- 14:25Speaker 5: But she still got in her RV to stay to
- 14:28Speaker 5: get away, and she drove cuttered up this hill, made
- 14:34Speaker 5: a turn or two, ended up in a call to
- 14:36Speaker 5: sack and for reasons only God can explain. You know,
- 14:41Speaker 5: there was somebody there videotaping the whole thing. Some neighbors,
- 14:47Speaker 5: the police were there, so there was all kinds of
- 14:49Speaker 5: evidence of what happened that last moment when she stepped
- 14:55Speaker 5: out of her RV holding a gun and all the
- 15:00Speaker 5: police yelled, put your gun down, put your gun down,
- 15:04Speaker 5: put it down. And what happened next I'll never forget.
- 15:10Speaker 5: And if you would like to know, go buy that
- 15:12Speaker 5: darn book.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Absolutely, It's just there's a lot of sadness in this story.
- 15:19Speaker 1: As you mentioned, a free spirited lady who always wanted more,
- 15:23Speaker 1: who never quite got more.
- 15:26Speaker 5: She didn't even want, she didn't want more the way
- 15:29Speaker 5: you and I were, I just wanted enough money to
- 15:33Speaker 5: take that RV and get it to Florida Park on
- 15:35Speaker 5: the beach, or would get it to Mexico Park on
- 15:38Speaker 5: the beach and be done with her life. She cared
- 15:40Speaker 5: nothing about money, about marriage, about children, but everybody who
- 15:45Speaker 5: met her she worked at the marina right before her
- 15:47Speaker 5: she stayed her last robberies at Lake Ray Hubbard, which
- 15:50Speaker 5: is east of Dallas, and people.
- 15:57Speaker 7: Just liked her.
- 15:58Speaker 5: They liked that she was sort of an independent, but
- 16:01Speaker 5: nobody had any idea that the way she expressed that
- 16:05Speaker 5: independence was to go rob a bank. And here's the thing.
- 16:10Speaker 5: I've divided people in life in two categories. Do you
- 16:15Speaker 5: walk into a bank and you do your business and
- 16:17Speaker 5: you walk out, or you walk into your bank to
- 16:21Speaker 5: the bank and you find yourself checking out where the
- 16:24Speaker 5: cameras are just for the heck of it, Not that
- 16:28Speaker 5: you're gonna rob it, but you always sort of want
- 16:30Speaker 5: to know what that bank has done to keep a
- 16:33Speaker 5: robber from hitting the loot. Did that make any sense?
- 16:39Speaker 7: Oh?
- 16:39Speaker 4: Absolutely?
- 16:40Speaker 1: And you know so many of these are like you
- 16:44Speaker 1: always see on the news if something terrible has happened,
- 16:47Speaker 1: and the neighbors always going She was such a quiet person.
- 16:51Speaker 1: She was such a nice person. This is the last
- 16:54Speaker 1: person we ever would have suspected, you know.
- 16:58Speaker 5: And if you read one of the stories in there
- 17:01Speaker 5: is about maybe next to Peggy Joe, my favorite character,
- 17:06Speaker 5: which is Nurse Vicky Jackson. Oh my gosh, you know
- 17:09Speaker 5: her or know about her?
- 17:11Speaker 4: I mean I read the book.
- 17:13Speaker 5: Oh well, here is a woman, polite, soft spoken.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Nlcona, Nacona, Texas.
- 17:22Speaker 5: Nacona the smallest hospital in the state. It had twelve.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Beds at us.
- 17:27Speaker 4: The dairy queen every day.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Went to the dairy Queen dressed in her nurse's uniform,
- 17:33Speaker 5: which was always neatly pressed. She had twenty five nurses uniforms.
- 17:39Speaker 6: Wow.
- 17:42Speaker 5: And he was a wallflower. She was that kind of
- 17:45Speaker 5: girl in high school that you know, once you get
- 17:48Speaker 5: out of high school, you can't remember anything about her.
- 17:52Speaker 5: And yet some kids they went to high school with
- 17:55Speaker 5: her and she became a nurse, and their parents would
- 17:58Speaker 5: get sick and they would go visit their parents in
- 18:02Speaker 5: the hospital and they would get a look at her
- 18:04Speaker 5: and try to remember how they knew her. And you know,
- 18:09Speaker 5: she was always trying to find someone to love her. Uh.
- 18:13Speaker 5: Some guy asked her to dance one night, and his
- 18:16Speaker 5: hand moved down her back to it squeezed her little
- 18:19Speaker 5: round bottom, and they fell in love, or she thought
- 18:24Speaker 5: they were falling in love when it turned out that
- 18:26Speaker 5: he was just going to try to get some of
- 18:27Speaker 5: her money. It was you know, lower class white life, right, Yeah,
- 18:33Speaker 5: and uh, one day she decided to pull a carry
- 18:38Speaker 5: from a Stephen King novel. She began injecting patients with
- 18:43Speaker 5: micro curium. I think that's how you say it, which
- 18:47Speaker 5: is a drug that will stop your respiratory system until
- 18:51Speaker 5: you're until so you can intubate to someone and then
- 18:55Speaker 5: you've got to have a doctor there to revive you.
- 18:59Speaker 4: Step Aba never understand.
- 19:03Speaker 1: How in two months time at Nakona General Hospital and
- 19:08Speaker 1: how many beds did you say?
- 19:09Speaker 4: There were eighteen twelve.
- 19:11Speaker 5: Beds, maybe eighteen, maybe eighteen, she murdered.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Ten most likely killed another ten, and attempted five more
- 19:25Speaker 1: until they finally figured out, hey, maybe something's not right here.
- 19:31Speaker 5: Listen. She would escort relatives of the decease back to
- 19:36Speaker 5: their car. At one point she showed up at someone's
- 19:40Speaker 5: funeral who she had killed with a cast role. And
- 19:45Speaker 5: you know, at the same time.
- 19:47Speaker 4: I wouldn't have wanted to eat that castrole.
- 19:53Speaker 5: You know, the manager of the dairy queen was not
- 19:56Speaker 5: making it, was not making any money because he would
- 19:58Speaker 5: pay give the citizens three paper plates and utensils for
- 20:03Speaker 5: their recept receptuh funeral.
- 20:07Speaker 4: And they're running out, they're running out of products.
- 20:10Speaker 5: They ran out of product. The publisher of the newspaper
- 20:13Speaker 5: was having the time of his life because he was
- 20:15Speaker 5: running up to six obituaries a week.
- 20:19Speaker 4: I mean, it's not funny. It's it's not funny.
- 20:23Speaker 5: It is funny. You and I have the same attitude,
- 20:28Speaker 5: which is that this tragedy, these this young woman, this woman,
- 20:34Speaker 5: this nerve so you could feel a great deal of
- 20:36Speaker 5: sympathy for because people just ignored her. She took care
- 20:41Speaker 5: of them, She cleaned up their diarrhea from it. And finally,
- 20:46Speaker 5: it wasn't that she had Munchausen byproxy or you know,
- 20:50Speaker 5: she was anything like that where she was trying to
- 20:52Speaker 5: hurt someone so that she could rush in at the
- 20:54Speaker 5: last minute and save them. She genuinely wanted to kill
- 21:01Speaker 5: every single one of those people. Where did that come from?
- 21:06Speaker 5: Where did that come from? I mean, the guy that's
- 21:11Speaker 5: my wife who's trying to get in on the conversations
- 21:13Speaker 5: from the other end of the house.
- 21:16Speaker 4: Well, just trying to help.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Why did skip? Why do people talk to you? How
- 21:24Speaker 1: do you get people to answer questions?
- 21:27Speaker 5: Hold on, seem I'm on the phone doing a radio interview.
- 21:32Speaker 5: She thought I was talking to my editor or.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Somebody somebody not important. But you tell her she's talking
- 21:37Speaker 1: to somebody really important.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Okay, what was your question?
- 21:44Speaker 4: My question is why do people talk to you?
- 21:49Speaker 5: Well, I have no idea. I just think you've got
- 21:52Speaker 5: to show compassion, even to the worst of the killers
- 21:57Speaker 5: you run across, and not to be deceptive. It's you know,
- 22:03Speaker 5: an editor once told me that.
- 22:07Speaker 8: You need to.
- 22:07Speaker 5: Write about your violence villain with love, and I went,
- 22:13Speaker 5: what bees? Yeah, you treat your character. You treat your
- 22:17Speaker 5: worst character with love because there was a place somewhere,
- 22:22Speaker 5: at some time where he or she was good. So
- 22:28Speaker 5: you've got to wait and then you just have to
- 22:31Speaker 5: be patient. If you can't talk to that person for
- 22:34Speaker 5: a long time, then you're going to be in trouble.
- 22:37Speaker 5: I mean, because you can't get the story right. You can't.
- 22:41Speaker 5: You can't what I'm not thinking of? You want to
- 22:46Speaker 5: know why someone crosses this invisible line? Yeah, to go
- 22:51Speaker 5: from sanity to insanity.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I talked to you when the story on Candice Mossler
- 22:59Speaker 1: came out, and she's it's just one of the more
- 23:00Speaker 1: fascinating people in Texas history as far.
- 23:05Speaker 4: As I'm concerned.
- 23:06Speaker 1: So I don't want to revisit that because I'm running
- 23:09Speaker 1: out of time. I need you to tell our listeners
- 23:12Speaker 1: who the Gory Girls were.
- 23:15Speaker 5: Well, I was driving with my wife and stepdaughter through
- 23:20Speaker 5: Hunt School and this is when the Prison Museum was
- 23:24Speaker 5: the old museum downtown. Yeah, not a nice shining one
- 23:28Speaker 5: on I forty five, and I saw these women dressed
- 23:33Speaker 5: as del Evatts, you know, the cowgirls singing Calgary who
- 23:37Speaker 5: was staying with Roy Rogers this photograph and I said
- 23:41Speaker 5: to the man that random Musummi says, who is that?
- 23:45Speaker 5: Because we don't know much about them. But they were
- 23:47Speaker 5: called the Gory Girls, and they apparently had a sensation.
- 23:52Speaker 5: They apparently were sensation. And then they all disappeared. And
- 23:56Speaker 5: I turned and looked at Haley. Stepdaughter said, there's a story.
- 24:02Speaker 5: I hear the Sound of Money.
- 24:06Speaker 1: At one time in the early in the early forties,
- 24:10Speaker 1: the right to that movie. Seven million people were tuning
- 24:14Speaker 1: in to WBAP to listen to the Gory girls sing, correct.
- 24:22Speaker 5: That's right? Every was it every Monday night or Wednesday ninth? Yeah,
- 24:26Speaker 5: Wednesday nights in the unit where they did all the
- 24:31Speaker 5: executions back then? Correct, they wanted Why did they want
- 24:38Speaker 5: to do this so they could be known as famous singers? No,
- 24:42Speaker 5: because they knew the they could win over the warden
- 24:46Speaker 5: of their unit, the Gory unit. If you're going up
- 24:49Speaker 5: forty five and right before you get into a.
- 24:55Speaker 9: Hunt school, you don't want to be in the gory unit.
- 24:58Speaker 5: Unit called the gory. Yeah, it's now male, But back
- 25:03Speaker 5: then there was the one place in Texas where prison
- 25:06Speaker 5: Fella and the inmates were taken.
- 25:10Speaker 1: And they figured out that if people liked them, first
- 25:15Speaker 1: of all, they were able to tour. They were able
- 25:17Speaker 1: to get out of prison and go sing when they
- 25:19Speaker 1: became really famous, and then they got paroled one by one.
- 25:26Speaker 4: So the group broke up and they.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Were living just I mean, quiet lives and never sang again.
- 25:39Speaker 5: Apparently never will not to anyone's knowledge. They were not
- 25:44Speaker 5: on any marque, They didn't get a recording age, nothing.
- 25:49Speaker 6: Wow.
- 25:49Speaker 5: They wanted to disappear. They became famous to disappear. Now,
- 25:54Speaker 5: where do you hear a theme like that. Ever, yeah, well.
- 26:00Speaker 4: The book is fabulous.
- 26:02Speaker 1: It's a compilation of some of the great female crime
- 26:06Speaker 1: stories in the state of Texas.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Ever, Skip, you're not through writing, are you?
- 26:14Speaker 5: I better not be. I've got some bills to pay.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Excellent, Okay, so we're going to talk again, right.
- 26:20Speaker 5: Well, I mean I'm trying to persuade the muckety mug
- 26:23Speaker 5: bosses you know we had. This book is called She Killed. Yes, naturally,
- 26:28Speaker 5: the next book should be called.
- 26:29Speaker 1: He Killed No Doubt, No Doubt?
- 26:32Speaker 4: Thanks Skip any time. That's Skip Holland's Worth from Texas Monthly.
- 26:38Speaker 4: The book is She Kills All right.
- 26:41Speaker 1: That's the interview we did with the great Skip Holland's
- 26:44Speaker 1: Worth from Texas Monthly.
- 26:46Speaker 4: I recommend the book.
- 26:47Speaker 1: There's just some awesome stories that he uncovered for that book.

- 29:54Speaker 4: Mallory's here, I am.
- 29:56Speaker 1: I want to say a belated happy birthday to the
- 30:00Speaker 1: the first Lady of music and culture. Dolly Parton celebrated
- 30:05Speaker 1: her eightieth birthday yesterday lots of new images. She posed
- 30:12Speaker 1: with a butterfly shaped cake adorned with candles, that was
- 30:17Speaker 1: given to her by Bono. I don't think I've ever
- 30:21Speaker 1: gotten a birthday cake from Bono before.
- 30:26Speaker 4: Gus people say.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Says Dolly, Well, you're going to be eighty years old.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Well so what look at all I've done in eighty years.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I feel like I'm just getting started. I know that
- 30:38Speaker 1: sounds stupid, but unless my health gives way, which right
- 30:42Speaker 1: now I seem to be doing fine. The legendary entertainer's
- 30:49Speaker 1: sister Frida, sparked concerns for Dolly's condition in October with
- 30:55Speaker 1: a social media post, which she had to walk back,
- 30:59Speaker 1: saying didn't mean to scare anyone or make it sound
- 31:02Speaker 1: so serious. Dolly had to put out a video on
- 31:08Speaker 1: Instagram saying I'm not dying.
- 31:16Speaker 4: She missed she is. It's like, and I've seen this before.
- 31:23Speaker 1: It's like Dolly has a cell phone, but she very
- 31:29Speaker 1: seldom answers it the dream exactly, only only when she
- 31:36Speaker 1: wants to.
- 31:38Speaker 6: Is she the one who you have to contact? By facts?
- 31:41Speaker 6: We talked about something.
- 31:42Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, Bill Murray. You have to Yeah, it's
- 31:49Speaker 1: it's Bill Murray. And I believe you have to call
- 31:54Speaker 1: a phone number and leave a message.
- 31:57Speaker 4: And if he wants to get back with you. He will.
- 32:03Speaker 6: I would say that's ideal, but he's, from what we've heard,
- 32:06Speaker 6: not the nicest.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I mean, you know, but you either want Bill Murray
- 32:12Speaker 1: or you don't, and he has to want you and
- 32:16Speaker 1: apparently to get in touch.
- 32:18Speaker 4: So there you go.
- 32:20Speaker 6: So there's that. That's how I mean to live my life.
- 32:24Speaker 6: You have to fax me or leave me a voicemail.
- 32:27Speaker 1: I think I think I do that just about every day.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure.
- 32:32Speaker 6: Well that's probably yeah, yeah, Well, happy belated birthday, Dolly.
- 32:40Speaker 6: I hope you live to be a hundred or more.
- 32:44Speaker 6: You know. Let's talk about the Royals because it's like, yeah,
- 32:50Speaker 6: you know, now that Meghan has separated herself, we don't
- 32:52Speaker 6: have to talk about them all the time. But this
- 32:54Speaker 6: isn't about her. This is about Caate Middleton and Prince Williams.
- 32:59Speaker 6: A day in Scotland so.
- 33:03Speaker 4: As a walk about? Was it a walk about? We'll
- 33:08Speaker 4: find out, okay, sorry?
- 33:10Speaker 6: So as well as Prince Harry stepped out in London
- 33:14Speaker 6: for the second day in a row in his lawsuit
- 33:16Speaker 6: against the publishing of The Daily Mail, his brother and
- 33:19Speaker 6: sister in law are over four hundred miles away. Visiting
- 33:22Speaker 6: uh Stirling.
- 33:24Speaker 4: And oh no, no, wonder that what Scotland. They knew
- 33:28Speaker 4: that Harry was in London.
- 33:31Speaker 6: I know they're like, do we have any obligation, any
- 33:33Speaker 6: weird invitations?
- 33:34Speaker 4: Yeah, we're going to Scotland.
- 33:39Speaker 6: At least four hundred miles away.
- 33:42Speaker 1: They were I believe they were at the Kelpies in Falkirk.
- 33:47Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, so they are there. Yes, they're putting spotlight
- 33:51Speaker 6: on the Scotland tradition that are continuing to connect communities.
- 33:56Speaker 6: So William and Kate made a stop at the Piece
- 34:00Speaker 6: Grin Thank You. The thirty meter tall steel horse head
- 34:04Speaker 6: sculptures embodied the fusion of Scotland's rich heritage and mythological
- 34:09Speaker 6: with the power of Scottish industry and engineering. I forget
- 34:12Speaker 6: that the animal of Scotland is a unicorn. All that surprise,
- 34:17Speaker 6: it's real. Posing for photos. That's your one fun fact
- 34:22Speaker 6: not so fun or guess fun fact of the day.
- 34:24Speaker 6: Posing for photos with the structures. The couple matched in
- 34:27Speaker 6: blue ensembles, with Princess Kate sporting a long tartan coat
- 34:31Speaker 6: or jacket sorry, a clear nod to the country, which
- 34:35Speaker 6: which that means I totally probably mispronounced what that coat
- 34:37Speaker 6: is actually called, which closely is associated with the pattern.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Well, it's good to see the kids. You that, it's
- 34:45Speaker 1: good to see the kids out and about.
- 34:48Speaker 6: Oh, I agree, and I was wrong. We do have
- 34:51Speaker 6: a Megan markele star.
- 34:54Speaker 4: Make it quick.
- 34:55Speaker 6: Sorry, Well, I know y'all are dying to know what's
- 34:59Speaker 6: next for her lifestyle series, With Love Meghan.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'd forgotten she had a lifestyle series.
- 35:08Speaker 6: Well, there are no plans for a third season, though
- 35:14Speaker 6: the possibility of future specials or one off projects have
- 35:17Speaker 6: not been ruled out. So. The most recent installment of
- 35:20Speaker 6: With Love Meghan was a holiday special that did debut
- 35:25Speaker 6: and on December third. It was literally called With Love
- 35:29Speaker 6: Meghan Holidays Celebration. So she's really getting creative with these titles.
- 35:33Speaker 4: Nice.
- 35:35Speaker 6: It was a one hour festive episode. What could she
- 35:39Speaker 6: possibly do for one like if you want to torture yourself,
- 35:43Speaker 6: it's on Netflix? No anyways apparently. Yeah. So, while appearing
- 35:51Speaker 6: on Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit in October twenty twenty five,
- 35:55Speaker 6: Meghan was act directly whether With Love with Megan or
- 35:58Speaker 6: With Love Megan would return for a third season. She
- 36:00Speaker 6: did say, well, the special holiday specials coming out in November,
- 36:03Speaker 6: which is wrong. It's a really good one another, you know,
- 36:06Speaker 6: just the series. I was looking at that format again.
- 36:10Speaker 6: It is a era of learns, so we're able to
- 36:13Speaker 6: say eight episodes for two seasons. It's a lot of work.
- 36:17Speaker 6: And having done suits for seven years, I remember what
- 36:20Speaker 6: goes into production. I also recognize how much people want
- 36:25Speaker 6: context in different sizes. Part of the testing out now
- 36:29Speaker 6: is it's amazing to sit and watch a show for
- 36:31Speaker 6: thirty minutes, but how can I get a recipe? Hold
- 36:35Speaker 6: on one second, a recipe? I guess there's that. So uh,
- 36:41Speaker 6: you know, I know we're all dying to just have
- 36:45Speaker 6: more of it.
- 36:45Speaker 1: It looks like look will be the first ones to
- 36:48Speaker 1: break the news when Megan has another special.
- 36:50Speaker 4: Okay, other than that, Megan go Away.
- 36:54Speaker 6: I'm going have to watch something else.
- 36:57Speaker 1: So Pitbull gave everybody a little glimpse of the super
- 37:00Speaker 1: Bowl yesterday. He was one of the musical guests a
- 37:06Speaker 1: pre stage at the All State Championship tailgate before the
- 37:12Speaker 1: College Football Championship last night in Miami. He hit the
- 37:16Speaker 1: stage in all black, surrounded by backup dancers.
- 37:22Speaker 4: His performance streamed on the.
- 37:25Speaker 1: ESPN app was an upbeat and energetic take on his
- 37:31Speaker 1: hit track Fireball. The Bull, who turned forty five just
- 37:37Speaker 1: ten days ago, no just last week, has long dubbed
- 37:42Speaker 1: himself mister three to five in honor of the area
- 37:46Speaker 1: code of Miami. So the electrifying singer rapper born Armando
- 37:54Speaker 1: Petes has used the success of his music career to
- 38:00Speaker 1: advocate for education that pit Bull is there anything he
- 38:06Speaker 1: can't do?
- 38:07Speaker 4: Serious?
- 38:09Speaker 6: Missed worldwide?
- 38:10Speaker 1: Yeah, And like I said, isn't isn't he the halftime
- 38:14Speaker 1: entertainment at the super Bowl?
- 38:15Speaker 4: Did I get that right?
- 38:16Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 38:17Speaker 6: No, he's not. It's who is it? It's now that
- 38:24Speaker 6: you said that, my brain is hold on, I have
- 38:27Speaker 6: this in my brain. It's why can't I remember his name?
- 38:32Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, hold on, really quick search will yeah?
- 38:37Speaker 6: Bad Bunny?
- 38:38Speaker 4: Oh that's right, I get. I get the bunny. I
- 38:42Speaker 4: get the Bunny and the bull mixed up.
- 38:45Speaker 6: I kept want to say Bennie and I'm like, that's
- 38:47Speaker 6: not it.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Well, after after yesterday the Super Bowl, people should be
- 38:52Speaker 1: be calling pit Bull instead of bad Bunny.
- 38:54Speaker 6: Could you imagine that would be such a.
- 38:57Speaker 4: Fun about and bad Bunny?
- 39:02Speaker 6: Well, you never know, they usually do have surprise guests.
- 39:05Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm.
- 39:07Speaker 6: Sayingwide will be at the Super Bowl.
- 39:12Speaker 4: Piers Morgan's recovering from an injury.
- 39:15Speaker 1: The sixty year old British talk show host took the
- 39:19Speaker 1: social media Sunday to post a selfie showing himself in
- 39:24Speaker 1: a hospital bed, telling his father's he tripped on a
- 39:28Speaker 1: small step in a hotel restaurant in London and broke
- 39:33Speaker 1: his leg so badly he said I needed a new hip.
- 39:39Speaker 1: The former America's Got Tala judge shared he's recovering in
- 39:43Speaker 1: the hospital, will.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Need to use crutches for six weeks.
- 39:47Speaker 1: He won't be able to be traveling long for twelve weeks.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Morgan shared a photo of an X ray that showed
- 39:57Speaker 1: the fracture. So we wish peers a speedy recovery and
- 40:07Speaker 1: we watch those steps at the hotel.
- 40:10Speaker 6: Hopefully it was labeled Okay, I guess you can't, could you?
- 40:14Speaker 4: Oh, Sue, I hope he does.
- 40:17Speaker 6: Yeah, can you imagine anyone but Pierce Morgan? Yeah? Jeez,
- 40:23Speaker 6: well man, Okay, So we I don't know if we've
- 40:26Speaker 6: ever briefly or we might have briefly talked about this
- 40:29Speaker 6: but it's not memorable enough for me to bring it,
- 40:32Speaker 6: you know that to remember off the top of my head.
- 40:35Speaker 6: But there is and has been speculation of there being
- 40:39Speaker 6: hot water or bad blood between Brooklyn Beckham and his family. Well,
- 40:47Speaker 6: he has made several allegations against his family, including Spice
- 40:51Speaker 6: Girls icon Victoria Beckham and soccer star David Beckham. The
- 40:55Speaker 6: twenty six year old father cryptically addressed in a new
- 40:58Speaker 6: television televised interview mistakes his children have made in the past.
- 41:03Speaker 6: So during a Tuesday so basically what happened, just to
- 41:05Speaker 6: get you up to speech hip. There's been a lot
- 41:08Speaker 6: of speculation that he's not talking to his family. He
- 41:11Speaker 6: made some Instagram posts with a lot of allegations as
- 41:14Speaker 6: to why. Okay, So, during a Tuesday morning appearance, David
- 41:19Speaker 6: responded to one of the host's questions about the dangers
- 41:22Speaker 6: of social media social media all in the wake of
- 41:25Speaker 6: Brooklyn using his Instagram page to address what claims was
- 41:28Speaker 6: long standing problematic behavior on the part of his mother, father,
- 41:31Speaker 6: and siblings, all standing from his relationship to wife and
- 41:34Speaker 6: actress Nicola Okay, I've always spoken about social media and
- 41:40Speaker 6: the power of social media for the good and for
- 41:42Speaker 6: the bad. We've talked about what kids can access these days,
- 41:45Speaker 6: and it can be dangerous. This is what David said.
- 41:48Speaker 6: What I've found personally, especially with my kids as well,
- 41:51Speaker 6: use it for the right reasons. He pointed to his
- 41:53Speaker 6: own usage of social media to benefit you and I
- 41:56Speaker 6: CEF in an effort to make people aware of what's
- 41:59Speaker 6: going on around the world. For children, David continued, cryptically
- 42:02Speaker 6: referencing the behavior of his own family. I tried to
- 42:05Speaker 6: do the same with my children to educate them, he said.
- 42:08Speaker 6: They make mistakes. Children are children are allowed to make mistakes.
- 42:11Speaker 6: That's how they learn. That's what I try to teach
- 42:14Speaker 6: my kids. But you know you have to sometimes let
- 42:16Speaker 6: them make those mistakes as well.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Yeah, so so there's a additionally, there's a family spat
- 42:25Speaker 1: being aired public.
- 42:27Speaker 6: What you're saying, I don't know if I had this
- 42:30Speaker 6: specific furbiage on it. However, I will say one of
- 42:34Speaker 6: the things he alleged was that she his mom, was
- 42:36Speaker 6: going to make her his wife's wedding dress. She sacked
- 42:39Speaker 6: out last minute. Another time, they had a choreographed dance
- 42:42Speaker 6: at the wedding between him and his wife. It was
- 42:44Speaker 6: a very loving song and his mom, I guess took
- 42:47Speaker 6: over and started, he said, grinding or dancing inappropriately with her,
- 42:53Speaker 6: which that just like.
- 42:54Speaker 1: I was like, oh, okay, So do you remember Laurie
- 42:59Speaker 1: Law and Massimo.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Gnally, who could forget it?
- 43:06Speaker 1: Weren't they the ones that tried to buy their kid
- 43:11Speaker 1: a USC scholarship? Right?
- 43:13Speaker 4: Okay?
- 43:14Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 43:14Speaker 1: Well you know they split in October, and Laurie, according
- 43:20Speaker 1: to People, is still extremely angry with him. A third
- 43:28Speaker 1: insider says fashion designer Gnally has a high opinion of
- 43:33Speaker 1: the actress. He thinks she's a lovely person, an incredible mom,
- 43:40Speaker 1: and once things resolved quietly, they were married almost thirty years,
- 43:50Speaker 1: not long after the announcement that they were taking a break.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Another source told People the marriage never fully recovered from
- 44:00Speaker 1: the strain of being in that college admissions scandal, in
- 44:06Speaker 1: which they pleaded guilty to wire and mail fraud and
- 44:11Speaker 1: accused of paying five hundred thousand dollars to a consultant
- 44:17Speaker 1: who falsely designated their daughters as recruits for the USC
- 44:23Speaker 1: crew team. Remember, Lourie served two months in prison, Mossi
- 44:31Speaker 1: Mode served five months in prison, and apparently things have
- 44:37Speaker 1: never been the same. Louri feels be trade, So I
- 44:46Speaker 1: hate that for those kids. I thought that one was gonna.
- 44:49Speaker 8: Last, you know, that on them.
- 44:55Speaker 6: I guess. I guess. I guess going to prison together.
- 44:59Speaker 4: For you know, I guess it didn't help.
- 45:01Speaker 6: That could really put a straight.
- 45:02Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess it's straight in the marriage.
- 45:06Speaker 6: Especially when you've been married that long. You know. Well,
- 45:09Speaker 6: let's talk about Hillary Duff because we don't really ever
- 45:13Speaker 6: talk about Hillary Duff, So why not? Do you know
- 45:15Speaker 6: who Hillary Duff is?
- 45:16Speaker 8: Chipped?
- 45:17Speaker 4: I know the name I think she was.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Was she like a Disney mouseketeer or something?
- 45:25Speaker 6: She was a Disney star? She was, Yes, she was
- 45:29Speaker 6: Lizzie McGuire, which I know that probably means nothing.
- 45:32Speaker 4: Nothing.
- 45:32Speaker 6: That was really two thousand and then she wanted to
- 45:36Speaker 6: break out of her Disney mold and be a you know,
- 45:39Speaker 6: I'm alternative, I'm cool, one of those. But she hasn't
- 45:42Speaker 6: really released a lot of music lately until recently. And
- 45:48Speaker 6: this is you know, she performed her iconic song what Dreams.
- 45:52Speaker 4: Are Made Of Way.
- 45:53Speaker 6: McGuire movie I know, for the first time ever ever,
- 45:59Speaker 6: during her return into the stage after an eighteen year break.
- 46:05Speaker 6: I told you it's been a minute. The singer and
- 46:08Speaker 6: actress kicked off her Small Rooms, Big Nerves tour in
- 46:10Speaker 6: London Monday night and had the fans in their feels
- 46:15Speaker 6: as she sang a slew of her early two thousand bops,
- 46:18Speaker 6: including come Clean, Fly and even her ballot Someone's Watching
- 46:24Speaker 6: Over Me, which was from a movie she did. She
- 46:26Speaker 6: also debuted my Kind from her twenty fifteen album Breathe
- 46:29Speaker 6: Then Breathe Out, and a handful of tracks from her
- 46:31Speaker 6: upcoming album Luck or Something. She closed out the show
- 46:36Speaker 6: with a fan favorite, what Dreams Are Made Of, what
- 46:39Speaker 6: she previously hinted would be in her set list. Fans
- 46:42Speaker 6: were thrilled about the variety list of tracks and took
- 46:45Speaker 6: social media to celebrate Hillary's return. See this is what
- 46:47Speaker 6: these stars have to do if they want to come
- 46:49Speaker 6: back and have the serious you know, songwriters whatever I guess,
- 46:53Speaker 6: continue making music. They need to bring their roots back
- 46:57Speaker 6: because that's what your fans really want. That's what the wait,
- 47:01Speaker 6: and then you sprinkle that new stuff in and hopefully
- 47:03Speaker 6: it'll stick.
- 47:04Speaker 4: Give you give the people what they want, right.
- 47:08Speaker 6: That's probably why that Aerras tour was so I mean,
- 47:11Speaker 6: the Air's tour would have been big anyways, but you know, all.
