- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:29Let's talk about creating big. What do I mean by that?
- 0:33Well, for me, I don't like to do things small.
- 0:38I'm kind of not a small person when it comes to this stuff.
- 0:41If whatever I'm going to do, I'm going to try to do it big.
- 0:43I like to paint big. I like to create big gardens.
- 0:47I like to create obviously big groups of chickens.
- 0:51I feel like sometimes when you do things big, you have a really
- 0:55massively wonderful experience because it's something that's,
- 0:59you know, outside your comfort zone.
- 1:02So it's like instead of planting 3 plants, I'll plant 30 plants
- 1:08and I have a wiggle room if something goes wrong.
- 1:11But the thought of creating big, what I'm talking about right now
- 1:16is getting to that fact of like, what are the goals that you
- 1:19want? And are those your true goals?
- 1:22Or would you love them to be bigger?
- 1:24Would you love them to just be more?
- 1:26Would you love them to be like, you know, more robust, more
- 1:29intent, whatever that might be? And that's the the essence of
- 1:34today's talk, thinking big. So as we come, you know, through
- 1:41October, everybody's starting to talk about next year, what
- 1:44they're looking forward to, goals.
- 1:46And people often, as they start to contemplate this, they say,
- 1:50well, I don't want to push myself too hard or I don't want
- 1:55to set myself up for a disappointment where I won't be
- 1:58able to do something. And I often chuckle at that
- 2:02because you can't get anywhere unless you decide you're going
- 2:06to push yourself and make things happen and go outside your
- 2:10comfort zone and think big. Like really start to create in a
- 2:15massively different way. And that requires different
- 2:18types of thinking. And the very first step in this
- 2:21is always saying, well, is this, if I had no boundaries, if I had
- 2:26no limitations, if I could do whatever I wanted to do and
- 2:29didn't have to worry about XY and Z, whether it's money, time,
- 2:33space, people, what would I want?
- 2:37When's the last time you asked yourself that question?
- 2:39Like when's the last time you allowed yourself to be creative
- 2:42in a big, tremendous way? That's the key to this.
- 2:47And that's what I want you to think about.
- 2:48Because before we get to goal setting later in the year,
- 2:51before we get to all of these these facts and we start really
- 2:55honing in on stuff, we have to pay attention to one very
- 3:00important aspect of thinking big and creating big.
- 3:05It's that we have to allow ourselves to do it first.
- 3:08If we don't allow ourselves to do it first, we'll never get
- 3:11anywhere. We'll never never even get past
- 3:13the first step because we take ourselves out before we even
- 3:16start. We shut ourselves down, we pull
- 3:19ourselves away and we stop the whole process because we're
- 3:22like, whoa, whoa, whoa, that's too much.
- 3:24So I could tell you, you know, I have this farm, I've created
- 3:28this and now I've recognized, wow, I have AI more ideas of
- 3:31things I want to do. I have more ideas of stuff that
- 3:34I would want to create. And quite frankly, that could
- 3:38involve more projects, bigger pieces of property, something
- 3:42that gives me the place to create an actual studio where I
- 3:48could throw clay, have classes, let people come and learn, put
- 3:53up all kinds of stuff for trainings at the farm.
- 3:57And that's a big thought. That's a thought of like, wow,
- 4:00do I really want to start over again?
- 4:03And as soon as I asked the question, do I really want to
- 4:05start over again, I recognize I've gone to the wrong place
- 4:09because I'm not in a place of do I really want to do it?
- 4:13The question was, if I was creating as big as I could
- 4:15without limitations, would I do it?
- 4:18And the answer is yes, I would. I would handedly.
- 4:22I wouldn't even hesitate if I knew that I did.
- 4:25I could just like go out there and create whatever I wanted in
- 4:28any way I wanted to. 100%. I would be the first person out
- 4:32there saying I want to have a big giant barn.
- 4:36Very similar to anyone who knows P Allen Smith.
- 4:39He's a gardener, landscape expert that's on PBS, and he has
- 4:44this beautiful place in Arkansas called Moss Mountain.
- 4:47If you ever get a chance to go visit, it is tremendous.
- 4:50He has it open to the public so you can go see it.
- 4:53And I would love to duplicate what he's got.
- 4:55And he's got this giant barn where he has events.
- 4:58And I would just love to be able to do that so I could invite
- 5:02people to come and train and have all kinds of experiences in
- 5:06that world, doing that stuff with the farm, with the animals
- 5:09and everything. So I have to stop myself and
- 5:12say, so my limitation comes in when I don't allow myself to
- 5:17just create big. So as the first step, as we
- 5:20before we get into goal setting, before we get into anything
- 5:22else, just take the first step. Allow yourself to create big.
- 5:25What would you do if you didn't have limitations?
- 5:28What would you do if you knew that you had 0 limitations on
- 5:32your thoughts? That's the question of the day,
- 5:34my friends. Go create something big in your
- 5:36head. All right, I'll talk to you
- 5:38tomorrow. Bye.
