- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: next to you
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:09Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Oh well, good morning.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Guess what? This is not a false alarm anymore. We're
- 0:15Speaker 1: finally back together. Hello. What did I miss for two weeks?
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm so sorry, stomach flu and all that lah. I
- 0:23Speaker 1: got no tea for you, you know, I'm so sorry.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I got no gossip. Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Finally, it's two voices and not one because we took
- 0:35Speaker 1: turns to disappear for quite some time. That's OK. But yeah,
- 0:38Speaker 1: we're back. You had a fantastic honeymoon. I had a
- 0:40Speaker 1: fantastic break and I'm looking at you to see what's changed. Nothing, nothing.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I'm just a few shades darker, that's it.
- 0:48Speaker 1: When I actually, I think I faded off a bit already,
- 0:51Speaker 1: but the moment I came back, I was actually like
- 0:53Speaker 1: at least 3 shades tanner. By the way, I might
- 0:55Speaker 1: have shed a tear or two because of you in Bhutan.
- 0:58Speaker 1: What did I do? Uh, I think you might have
- 1:01Speaker 1: shared this on air already, but I saw the video
- 1:03Speaker 1: with you and your parents. Aiyo, I. I didn't share
- 1:07Speaker 1: it on air. Really? OK, I didn't. So the, the
- 1:10Speaker 1: video of Sonia, I think you bought your parents a car, yeah, yeah,
- 1:13Speaker 1: an MG car, of course, and Ayo, your dad looks
- 1:17Speaker 1: so happy lah.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he was like, you know, you know, cars and
- 1:21Speaker 1: I don't know what what are considered like boys' toys,
- 1:24Speaker 1: you know, like for you, it's for you, it's sports related, PlayStation, yeah, gaming,
- 1:30Speaker 1: you know, your, what else, Lego, yeah, things like that. Yeah.
- 1:33Speaker 1: So for my dad, it's, you know, he has like
- 1:35Speaker 1: these toy cars at home, and then actual cars. So
- 1:39Speaker 1: like he's actually so excited. It's their first time owning
- 1:42Speaker 1: a new car. So, what's your dad's?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Well, I think it's a Maserati. No, no, no, he's
- 1:50Speaker 1: not a Maserati guy. It was his vintage like Porsche 911.
- 1:54Speaker 1: But this was when that's how he asked my mother
- 1:57Speaker 1: out lah. That was the era that he was driving Porsche.
- 2:01Speaker 1: But as you know, back then in those days, how
- 2:05Speaker 1: much was a vintage secondhand Porsche, so cheap. It's like
- 2:08Speaker 1: no such thing right now. So yeah, you can buy
- 2:11Speaker 1: a motorcycle, I think with the price. At this point,
- 2:14Speaker 1: given your dad's taste, right, I'm very sure he was
- 2:16Speaker 1: a spy.
- 2:17Speaker 1: In his, in his prime, in his heyday, yeah, how
- 2:21Speaker 1: did you end up with my mom? She's the worst
- 2:22Speaker 1: spy ever. Exactly. I see where I inherited it. The
- 2:27Speaker 1: enemies won't suspect a thing. I was just gonna say
- 2:31Speaker 1: it's scary how fast time is flying. This time last
- 2:35Speaker 1: week I was waking up to the best sunrise, and
- 2:40Speaker 1: the view of the sub-Himmalayan region over at Bhutan. Trust me,
- 2:43Speaker 1: I know how that feels. Like I, I was just
- 2:46Speaker 1: sharing with our listeners that I think.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I've had the worst post-holiday blues on earth this round,
- 2:51Speaker 1: especially because, um, I think, I don't know whether it's,
- 2:54Speaker 1: it's the kind of thing where you experience a really
- 2:57Speaker 1: impactful holiday and then when you come back, it just
- 3:00Speaker 1: hits different from the other types of holidays you've experienced. Like,
- 3:03Speaker 1: do you feel that way for Bhutan?
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yes and no. I'm getting like bad holidays, man,
- 3:08Speaker 1: even till now. I think my Bhutan was the right
- 3:11Speaker 1: amount of time, and time back in Singapore before work starts. yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I mean for a location like Bhutan, I don't think
- 3:17Speaker 1: you can do like 2 or 3 weeks or so.
- 3:19Speaker 1: It's a bit long, you can, you can really if
- 3:22Speaker 1: you're doing like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, which I would
- 3:25Speaker 1: love to do sometime. It's so funny. I saw this one,
- 3:28Speaker 1: when I was in Bhutan, they were promoting this thing
- 3:31Speaker 1: called the snow hike or something.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I think it's like during the colder season, which of
- 3:38Speaker 1: course did not clearly not obviously. I mean, I did
- 3:41Speaker 1: the bare minimum of what I needed to do and
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'm done.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Also, on the context of time flying, it's the 16th
- 3:48Speaker 1: of June 1 month as a married woman. I know,
- 3:52Speaker 1: nothing has changed, by the way, it's still the same.
- 3:54Speaker 1: In case you're wondering, is there any difference, you know,
- 3:57Speaker 1: that that's the number one. Everywhere I'm going, people are
- 4:00Speaker 1: still saying, hey, congratulations. I, I mean, it's not that
- 4:03Speaker 1: far away. I guess in wedding context it's still quite recent.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Um, but, but most people's first question will be, oh,
- 4:09Speaker 1: how's life as a married woman? I'm like, it's the same, guys.
- 4:12Speaker 1: There's zero difference. Do you get people staring at your
- 4:15Speaker 1: womb or belly? No, it's been 4 weeks. Why are
- 4:18Speaker 1: you going on about analyzing it, you know, any growth
- 4:21Speaker 1: or any movements over there? It's maybe because I ate
- 4:24Speaker 1: too much since I've been quite unhinged since wedding time,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you know. It feels good to be back to have
- 4:30Speaker 1: a friend to talk to again on air, especially.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I think um for the time that we were both
- 4:36Speaker 1: away separately, did you get listeners texting and saying like, um,
- 4:39Speaker 1: don't be so lonely, OK, or like, hey, keeping you
- 4:42Speaker 1: company while joking or Sonia is away. Yeah, I mean
- 4:45Speaker 1: the 3 days before your wedding and then 2 weeks
- 4:48Speaker 1: of your honeymoon.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Yeah, lah, a bit lonely in the studio sometimes and
- 4:51Speaker 1: you know, and I was sharing this with Sonia on
- 4:54Speaker 1: the Tuesday when I was flying to Bhutan. I did
- 4:57Speaker 1: the show with her and I said this off-air. There
- 4:59Speaker 1: was some sometimes I was actually talking to myself in
- 5:01Speaker 1: the studio when the music was playing, thinking that you
- 5:04Speaker 1: were around.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Just sharing about my day to anyone here that will listen.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I know it's like that that I wish there's a
- 5:12Speaker 1: CCTV here somewhere just to see the craziness I pretty
- 5:15Speaker 1: sure there's some hidden pinhole camera installed by Boss Janice. What?
- 5:20Speaker 1: No way. So she has a lot of dirt on us,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I guess. Either that or one of our colleagues, OK.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Coming up in just a little bit, coming up in
- 5:29Speaker 1: just a little bit. I don't suppose you have the
- 5:31Speaker 1: stomach for this right now since you've had a bad,
- 5:34Speaker 1: was it stomach flu over the past few days? It
- 5:37Speaker 1: was painful. I know you, you're not the first person. Like,
- 5:39Speaker 1: in fact, I know two people who have had gastroenteritis
- 5:42Speaker 1: in the past two weeks. Of all things that gave
- 5:44Speaker 1: it to me, it was a banana milk.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Protein drink. Yeah, that's just confusing you drank it here
- 5:51Speaker 1: in Singapore. So I'm guessing it was contaminated or dirty. Maybe, yeah,
- 5:54Speaker 1: maybe slightly expired. You see, that's why I am always
- 5:57Speaker 1: the expiry bully. I always look at the expiry date. OK. Anyway, sorry,
- 6:01Speaker 1: you will not have the stomach for this right now
- 6:03Speaker 1: because it's related to durians and and I don't think
- 6:08Speaker 1: you can stomach this at all.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Duan, no, right, not for you right now. You've probably
- 6:12Speaker 1: been eating porridge the past few days. Give me a
- 6:15Speaker 1: few days. Yes, yes, to get back into your form. Yeah,
- 6:18Speaker 1: to get everything back to normal first. Yeah, OK, well, Shakira,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Euro Sumer right here on 987. I have to say
- 6:24Speaker 1: that song started to grow on me while you were
- 6:26Speaker 1: away for some reason. Euro Summer I didn't quite like
- 6:29Speaker 1: it initially when I heard it.
- 6:31Speaker 1: But the more I heard it, I'm like, oh, OK.
- 6:33Speaker 1: You see, it says so much about Shakira's horrible World
- 6:36Speaker 1: Cup song. If Euro Summer is going on you as
- 6:39Speaker 1: compared to Die Die, oh, that's true. That's true. Let's go.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I don't know that, you know, sometimes when I say
- 6:46Speaker 1: that that song title on air, I don't feel like
- 6:48Speaker 1: it's very, uh, very hard to say that.
- 6:52Speaker 1: It's actually Italian for let's go. Yes, I, yeah, but
- 6:56Speaker 1: I don't sounds a bit ominous. OK. Anyway, um, I,
- 7:00Speaker 1: I actually forgot to say that this is a crime.
- 7:04Speaker 1: At 6:50 a.m. in the morning. In fact, while you
- 7:08Speaker 1: were away, there were so many stories. What does this
- 7:11Speaker 1: say about when you leave, the crime goes up. When
- 7:14Speaker 1: I come back, the crime rates go down. SPF call me.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Oh my God. Anyway, it's time for crime, crime, crime, crime.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And where are we going? The jaded streets of Jurong East.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Haven't been there like for B crime. What's negative word
- 7:33Speaker 1: that starts with jinxed. Yeah, OK, both are quite negative. So, um,
- 7:40Speaker 1: there's this durian store over in Jurong East, and, and
- 7:43Speaker 1: by the way, it is durian season right now, OK.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I believe that, uh, prices of durians over in Malaysia
- 7:48Speaker 1: are very low right now and there's like an abundance
- 7:51Speaker 1: of durians. So this is time for you to go
- 7:53Speaker 1: eat it.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Um, this Jurong East durian store, they, they've been there
- 7:58Speaker 1: for a bit. They recognize their regulars, you know, they,
- 8:00Speaker 1: they see people in and out, right? On the 14th
- 8:03Speaker 1: of June, which is just two days ago, at 3:30 a.m.,
- 8:09Speaker 1: a man was caught on CCTV stealing 9 durians from
- 8:16Speaker 1: this durian store, and you know what the, the name
- 8:18Speaker 1: of the store is? Ho Jia durians.
- 8:24Speaker 1: They saw him and caught him red-handed on their surveillance camera,
- 8:28Speaker 1: which is very clear, by the way, it looks 4K,
- 8:30Speaker 1: to be honest. And um they, the employees were the
- 8:34Speaker 1: ones that discovered it the next morning when they realized, hey,
- 8:36Speaker 1: how come?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Our shelf of durian, so many lobangs, like there's so
- 8:40Speaker 1: many empty spots, you know, and he took 9, so
- 8:42Speaker 1: that's a lot. That prompted them to go look at
- 8:44Speaker 1: the CCTV footage, and they finally found it, and they
- 8:47Speaker 1: recognized him as an existing customer, like basically someone who
- 8:50Speaker 1: has shopped at their store before. So they said, you
- 8:53Speaker 1: know what, they didn't do anything, hoping that he'll come
- 8:55Speaker 1: back to pay for it or something, but he never did.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Um, and the owner said actually if he had difficulties
- 9:00Speaker 1: and really wanted to eat durian, he could have just
- 9:03Speaker 1: told us, I would have treated him to some, he
- 9:04Speaker 1: didn't have to steal it. So you see, I mean,
- 9:08Speaker 1: not worth it like guys, not worth it. On that
- 9:10Speaker 1: topic about durians, I realized durians have been in the
- 9:13Speaker 1: spotlight for Singapore the last few days. I think a
- 9:16Speaker 1: recent video.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Uh, Twitch streamer, Super Cat cake, yes, yes, sitting down
- 9:20Speaker 1: with the London mayor himself, Mr. Sadiq Khan, having durian,
- 9:24Speaker 1: to which there was a comment I saw on social
- 9:27Speaker 1: media which got me thinking, you know, and I think
- 9:29Speaker 1: this came from our friends across the causeway, OK, how
- 9:32Speaker 1: is the durian Singapore's national fruit when most of it
- 9:37Speaker 1: is imported from us?
- 9:39Speaker 1: I mean, good question. It's a good question. Have we
- 9:42Speaker 1: ever called it our national fruit? Yes. 00, we call
- 9:44Speaker 1: it our fruit or fruits here in Singapore. I thought
- 9:48Speaker 1: it's king of fruits. I never knew we called it
- 9:50Speaker 1: our national fruit. Yeah, the esplanade is designed after a durian. Well, OK,
- 9:56Speaker 1: but the durian is native to Southeast Asia in general, right? OK,
- 10:00Speaker 1: you know what? For the fun of it, fruit of Singapore. Really?
- 10:07Speaker 1: Does it come out as the durian?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Durian. Really, ah? How did I not know this? I mean,
- 10:14Speaker 1: I just thought that it's representative of our region. That's it. Exactly. But,
- 10:18Speaker 1: but the question makes sense. OK, so who was the
- 10:20Speaker 1: one that decided that this is a natural food? Now
- 10:23Speaker 1: I need to find out. Can I, can I, can I?
- 10:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna, I'm gonna ask. Oh no, you're kidding me.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Who is it? Who decided that the durian is Singapore's
- 10:35Speaker 1: national food?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Let's see what Singapore's national fruit, sorry, Taiping, tying fruit. OK,
- 10:46Speaker 1: let's see.
- 10:47Speaker 1: The short answer is nobody did. Singapore does not have
- 10:50Speaker 1: an official national fruit. Huh? You see? Guys, you see? OK.
- 10:56Speaker 1: The idea that the durian is Singapore's national fruit comes
- 10:58Speaker 1: from popular culture and tourism. There was never any official
- 11:01Speaker 1: government declaration. They're just enthusiastic about the durian and landmarks
- 11:05Speaker 1: like Esplanade are often nicknamed the durian. But nobody ever
- 11:10Speaker 1: said that it was our national fruit. Guys.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Wait, how can there be no government endorsement when the
- 11:17Speaker 1: esplanade is shaped as such? OK, you want us to
- 11:20Speaker 1: call someone right now? No, it's OK. Who do we
- 11:22Speaker 1: know from which ministry? Which ministry do we reach out
- 11:24Speaker 1: to to find out? This one, I think maybe. Anyone
- 11:27Speaker 1: tuning in now that can direct us to the right
- 11:29Speaker 1: ministry to question about durian as the official fruit should
- 11:32Speaker 1: be acting minister David Neo. MCCY, yes. I think he
- 11:36Speaker 1: seems to be awake at this hour. I think he
- 11:38Speaker 1: looks very fit. He might be going on a run
- 11:39Speaker 1: or something.
- 11:41Speaker 1: OK, if anyone has info, please let us know who
- 11:43Speaker 1: we should hit up. We are very happy to be back,
- 11:45Speaker 1: as you can tell, and we're just yapping away nonstop
- 11:48Speaker 1: off-air as well. I mean, I thought I fixed my
- 11:50Speaker 1: sleep cycle in Bhutan, then the World Cup started. Oh,
- 11:54Speaker 1: this one. I'm not even surprised. I'm not even surprised.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Tell me, what was, what were the matches recently that
- 12:00Speaker 1: you caught that were at an odd hour? Once every
- 12:02Speaker 1: 4 years. Give me a chance, OK.
- 12:04Speaker 1: No, so it's, it's nice that Saturday and Sunday when
- 12:07Speaker 1: you wake up at 10:00 a.m. there's a game or
- 12:09Speaker 1: 9 a.m. there's a game. So it was back then
- 12:12Speaker 1: when I was a kid, like Kid Central Pokemon at
- 12:13Speaker 1: 10 a.m., something to look forward to. But, uh, I
- 12:17Speaker 1: think some of the mouth-watering games will happen tomorrow, and
- 12:22Speaker 1: I think also on Thursday morning at 1 a.m.
- 12:27Speaker 1: It's Portugal against DR Congo and at 4 a.m. it's
- 12:32Speaker 1: England against Croatia. you should just forget about what's gonna happen.
- 12:36Speaker 1: So you're gonna watch it for sure, right? I will
- 12:38Speaker 1: come to work with Panda Eyes only because, yes, there's
- 12:41Speaker 1: a small investment.
- 12:43Speaker 1: In Portugal and England, this is exactly what people said. Like,
- 12:47Speaker 1: literally even our social media team knew that you were
- 12:50Speaker 1: gonna do this. Hello, it's once every 4 years, and
- 12:52Speaker 1: I've been saying this for 4 years ever since the
- 12:55Speaker 1: last World Cup. My pick to win this year is Portugal, England, sorry, OK,
- 13:00Speaker 1: I picked Portugal. The football romantic will all say Portugal
- 13:03Speaker 1: because they want to see Ronaldo lift the World Cup. Oh, wow,
- 13:07Speaker 1: I mean, I just picked it because they sound good.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And they are pretty strong. They are also with Puma,
- 13:12Speaker 1: so if they win, you win. Oh, obsessed. I knew that.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Can you get them to send you a jersey from Ronaldo?
- 13:17Speaker 1: Oh yes, because he's so free, right? Autograph it for you.
- 13:20Speaker 1: He's so free, just sitting around signing, signing shirts. Singapore's
- 13:24Speaker 1: global SEA ambassador Sonia Chew requests for a jersey. He
- 13:28Speaker 1: has no clue who I am.
- 13:30Speaker 1: OK, he has no idea and he doesn't need to.
- 13:34Speaker 1: When we come back though, we got some news coming
- 13:37Speaker 1: your way involving Google reviews. If you're the kind of
- 13:41Speaker 1: person that loves to read Google reviews for restaurants, for
- 13:46Speaker 1: beauty parlors, what other things can you leave Google reviews for?
- 13:51Speaker 1: Mostly F&B, like mostly F&B, right?
- 13:54Speaker 1: Of services. Oh yes, yes, yeah. Do, do you read
- 13:58Speaker 1: reviews before you go? I mean, sometimes I do if
- 14:01Speaker 1: I'm very unfamiliar with the place, but typically I just
- 14:03Speaker 1: go and experience it for myself, you know. If you're
- 14:06Speaker 1: a regular Google review reader, you would know that there
- 14:09Speaker 1: are at least 5 or 6 common accounts that are everywhere.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Oh really? They are like the expert commenters, you know. OK, exactly.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Do they get something out of it?
- 14:18Speaker 1: Like do you get vouchers or something? Just enjoy having
- 14:21Speaker 1: their voice heard and be be critiqued, yeah, a little
- 14:24Speaker 1: bit or critique, critique something, yeah. So, yeah, I would
- 14:28Speaker 1: look at active accounts, but of course in this day
- 14:33Speaker 1: and age of technology, people can now fake Google reviews
- 14:37Speaker 1: and they can even give you a search, for example,
- 14:40Speaker 1: if Sonia owns a business.
- 14:42Speaker 1: And I'm selling the exact same thing. Like you basically, yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 1: so I want to sabo you. I will pay someone to,
- 14:48Speaker 1: you know, can you go and search Sonya's account with
- 14:50Speaker 1: all these one-star reviews. And now scammers are doing this.
- 14:55Speaker 1: They'll purposely search your business and then they will send
- 14:58Speaker 1: your business a WhatsApp text saying, oh, if you want
- 15:01Speaker 1: me to remove it, you want me to remove, you
- 15:03Speaker 1: pay me this amount. I'll do it for you. Isn't
- 15:05Speaker 1: that a crime?
- 15:07Speaker 1: Kinda locate this person or this person, they could be charged, right?
- 15:11Speaker 1: So if you can't really track where it comes from,
- 15:13Speaker 1: then I know, I know. So unfortunately, a beauty chain
- 15:16Speaker 1: was hit by dubious chain of one-star Google reviews, and
- 15:22Speaker 1: they were offered the same thing, you know, on WhatsApp. Hey,
- 15:24Speaker 1: you want me to remove this for you, you pay
- 15:26Speaker 1: me this amount.
- 15:28Speaker 1: They left it alone for a while. Yeah, yeah, and
- 15:31Speaker 1: nothing has happened has happened. The reviews are still there though. Oh,
- 15:34Speaker 1: I was just scrolling through it right now. Um, honestly,
- 15:39Speaker 1: those reviews look super suss. Like the names, the profile,
- 15:42Speaker 1: it looks really suspicious. If any, any discerning customer will realize.
- 15:47Speaker 1: That's fake. So yes, be extra careful and be more
- 15:51Speaker 1: discerning when reading reviews and always just look out for
- 15:54Speaker 1: the official accounts that leave it as compared to all
- 15:58Speaker 1: these fake ghost accounts that will leave weird comments. Well,
- 16:02Speaker 1: you know, I'm glad that it got the attention of
- 16:04Speaker 1: media outlets because they've since posted about it.
- 16:07Speaker 1: And I think that will help them with their reputation
- 16:10Speaker 1: at least, because look, businesses, man, it's damn difficult to run.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I wonder what 987's Google review. Is there even a
- 16:16Speaker 1: Google review of 987? Nothing.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Don't start the reviews. Don't start. Maybe Media Corp as
- 16:25Speaker 1: a whole. I don't know, man. I'm scared to do
- 16:28Speaker 1: this live. Wait, wait, wait, I'm scared to do this live.
- 16:30Speaker 1: Media Corp. Media Corps. OK. Nothing. Nothing also. OK, that's
- 16:35Speaker 1: a good thing. I'll take it. I'll take it on
- 16:36Speaker 1: Google about other places. I don't want to say anything.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Um, Dua Lipa's been kind of quiet since her wedding season.
- 16:43Speaker 1: I think she's having fun, maybe on her own honeymoon
- 16:45Speaker 1: and all that, but can I just bring your attention
- 16:47Speaker 1: to something that a lot of my friends fell for, OK,
- 16:50Speaker 1: and it's related to Dua Lipa.
- 16:52Speaker 1: So, I'll just let you know right now, there were
- 16:55Speaker 1: some photos of her wedding that was supposedly released and
- 16:58Speaker 1: they were really cool photos. It was very on brand
- 17:01Speaker 1: for Dua. There was like, you know, champagne, the cake fell,
- 17:04Speaker 1: you know, like her three-tier cake fell and she was
- 17:08Speaker 1: caught like.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Trying to catch the cake and she had this shocked face,
- 17:11Speaker 1: but she still looked really pretty. Can I guess? Yeah,
- 17:14Speaker 1: it was AI. It was AI. There you go. It
- 17:17Speaker 1: was AI. So honestly, like it looks so real to
- 17:21Speaker 1: the point where at least 2 or 3 of my
- 17:23Speaker 1: friends shared it with me.
- 17:25Speaker 1: And they, they say, he, her cake looks like yours,
- 17:28Speaker 1: or you know, something like that, right? And she's like,
- 17:29Speaker 1: they say, oh my God, I love her wedding photos.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I said, me too, just that this is AI and
- 17:34Speaker 1: to which my friends were like, what? I could not
- 17:37Speaker 1: even tell that this was AI. And I think because
- 17:40Speaker 1: the account that originally posted it.
- 17:42Speaker 1: was not in English, like it was a Spanish uh
- 17:47Speaker 1: art artist or something like that, or editor, and nothing
- 17:50Speaker 1: was in English, but I did go to the comments
- 17:53Speaker 1: section to check because I was wondering like, how did
- 17:55Speaker 1: other people post photos of Dua's wedding before she even
- 17:59Speaker 1: posted it.
- 18:00Speaker 1: You know what I mean? And they were really nice photos.
- 18:02Speaker 1: On that note about AI, I remember reading this when
- 18:05Speaker 1: I was in Bhutan. I think it was the makers
- 18:08Speaker 1: of Cloud or an AI software that can we all
- 18:10Speaker 1: just pause development of AI for a while? I think
- 18:14Speaker 1: it's advancing too fast. If the makers of AI themselves
- 18:17Speaker 1: are saying this, and you know what, they probably already
- 18:20Speaker 1: know more information than us, to be honest. Yeah, they
- 18:23Speaker 1: know what's up, so.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Does that scare you? I mean, it surely it scares
- 18:27Speaker 1: me a little bit, man. I've always said this about
- 18:30Speaker 1: technology and AI have a life of its own. Has
- 18:32Speaker 1: no one seen Black Mirror or Terminator? Has no one
- 18:37Speaker 1: watched the series or the movie? Come on, people. So
- 18:40Speaker 1: that the question now is, was that based on real-life
- 18:42Speaker 1: findings already? Like, do they know something that we don't.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I mean you can generate something I guess, but whether
- 18:50Speaker 1: they will really use Dua Lipa's likeness, it was, it
- 18:54Speaker 1: looked exactly like her. That's the thing it's been manipulated
- 18:57Speaker 1: that's the thing, yeah. So I think some some softwares
- 19:00Speaker 1: are quite advanced I guess because people were convinced that
- 19:03Speaker 1: those were the real.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Pictures. Oh, and by the way, you know the TikTok
- 19:06Speaker 1: trend we're supposed to say, uh, the same phrase but
- 19:10Speaker 1: in 5 different tones. Yes, yes. There is a conspiracy
- 19:13Speaker 1: that people are using that to AI your voice to
- 19:16Speaker 1: clone your voices, but something to um make sure that
- 19:19Speaker 1: you know, especially if you're a driver.
- 19:21Speaker 1: And I actually didn't realize this was going on right now. Um,
- 19:25Speaker 1: you know, your ERP gantries, right, that you sometimes see
- 19:29Speaker 1: on the roads? Do, do your, when you take like
- 19:32Speaker 1: taxis or or grabs and stuff, um, do you sometimes
- 19:36Speaker 1: try to avoid those?
- 19:37Speaker 1: ERP gantries, especially if it's peak hour or I mean,
- 19:41Speaker 1: we say, but knowing us Singaporeans, you're always in a
- 19:46Speaker 1: rush to get to somewhere. Yeah, so you still end
- 19:48Speaker 1: up the way. From the 1st of January 2027.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Those gantry-based ERP systems, they're slowly going to get phased out.
- 19:58Speaker 1: I didn't realize this, but we're switching to the satellite-based
- 20:02Speaker 1: ERP2 system, which is, I think part of the reason
- 20:05Speaker 1: why we were all encouraged as drivers to switch to
- 20:07Speaker 1: the OBU system. Um, OK, so if you're not familiar
- 20:10Speaker 1: with it, if you're not a driver, they changed our systems,
- 20:14Speaker 1: I think.
- 20:15Speaker 1: In phases, if I'm not wrong, I was one of
- 20:17Speaker 1: the first few. I got the alert to go change it,
- 20:20Speaker 1: so I had to go down and and make the switch. Um,
- 20:22Speaker 1: as of now, I think some of my friends only
- 20:25Speaker 1: recently did it.
- 20:26Speaker 1: So, the user experience of ERP 2 is going to
- 20:29Speaker 1: be quite different and how they're going to indicate um
- 20:33Speaker 1: that it's an ERP zone uh with markings on the roads.
- 20:36Speaker 1: So they're going to paint it in this really quite
- 20:39Speaker 1: nice bright blue color. Yeah, there was a period of
- 20:42Speaker 1: time they were asking the public for feedback and people
- 20:44Speaker 1: had a lot to say about it. Yeah. So, um,
- 20:49Speaker 1: they will indicate it on the road that you're sort
- 20:51Speaker 1: of like entering an ERP zone. That's the intention. That's
- 20:54Speaker 1: the intention. So.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Um, they're starting to trial it, uh, they're trialing it already. Currently,
- 21:00Speaker 1: those participating in the trial will get alerts when you're approaching,
- 21:04Speaker 1: you know, the ERP locations and all that. So you get,
- 21:07Speaker 1: once you get into the alert zone. Also, changing very soon,
- 21:12Speaker 1: the roadside electronic parking feature. I know it's quite confusing
- 21:15Speaker 1: because this one short form is REP.
- 21:19Speaker 1: There's an ERP and an REP. Yes. So we, you know,
- 21:23Speaker 1: we love our abbreviations. So this roadside electronic parking feature,
- 21:27Speaker 1: REP allows you to park in your specific location. You
- 21:32Speaker 1: have to select on your OBU like which, uh, which
- 21:35Speaker 1: street you're on just for accuracy.
- 21:37Speaker 1: And you no longer have to like manually end your session.
- 21:41Speaker 1: The moment you leave the zone, it will, it should
- 21:45Speaker 1: be able to detect like that you've left that zone
- 21:47Speaker 1: and it will end the parking for you, supposedly. So
- 21:50Speaker 1: let's see how it goes. I mean, I, I'm not
- 21:51Speaker 1: part of any trials. I didn't get any.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Any notification or any anything at all. So we'll see.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I think only about 1000 or so people are part
- 21:59Speaker 1: of the trial if I'm not wrong. I mean, from
- 22:01Speaker 1: the way you described it, this sounds like a much needed,
- 22:04Speaker 1: and a beneficial one, not like those.
- 22:09Speaker 1: For nothing must go and change something that's working, you
- 22:11Speaker 1: know what I mean? No, exactly, yeah, so it all
- 22:13Speaker 1: makes sense now, I guess we have more use for
- 22:15Speaker 1: that OBU unit. Just giving you some trivia here, OK.
- 22:20Speaker 1: The ERP gantry was introduced on April 1st, 1998. 0 wow.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Wow, OK, that's been a while, a while April Fool's Day. Yeah,
- 22:31Speaker 1: I guess it's a, yeah, like you said, a much
- 22:33Speaker 1: needed change. It's a 28 years, 28, right? Yes, 28.
- 22:37Speaker 1: It'll be, it'll be very useful for us, especially with
- 22:39Speaker 1: roadside parking and all that. Speaking of which, I nearly
- 22:42Speaker 1: got into a situation with a random driver over a
- 22:46Speaker 1: parking lot on the side. Why? So I, sorry, this
- 22:50Speaker 1: is totally off track.
- 22:53Speaker 1: we haven't seen each other in a while. So I
- 22:55Speaker 1: was on the way to Pilates class, as you know,
- 22:57Speaker 1: that area very difficult to park, OK, because all parallel parking.
- 23:01Speaker 1: If not, I have to park in a building nearby,
- 23:03Speaker 1: which is a long walk. So I, uh, I saw
- 23:07Speaker 1: a guy who was coming out already. So I, I
- 23:09Speaker 1: put my hazel light on, OK, and I'm waiting there
- 23:11Speaker 1: for him to come out. He comes out, the car
- 23:14Speaker 1: behind me.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Soups into the lot. So why, why do I feel
- 23:19Speaker 1: like you've told this story before, but it's the same situation,
- 23:22Speaker 1: different day? No, wait. So here's what happened. I turned
- 23:25Speaker 1: around and I could see him right there because the
- 23:27Speaker 1: road is very narrow. It's very narrow. So I sort
- 23:30Speaker 1: of shrunk and I gave him the like, what are
- 23:32Speaker 1: you doing kind of face, you know, like the, hey,
- 23:34Speaker 1: I was waiting here. If, how would I describe that face?
- 23:38Speaker 1: I know, but I gave that face. OK, I'm like, huh,
- 23:40Speaker 1: like why? So then I think he felt bad. He
- 23:42Speaker 1: reversed and went back out.
- 23:45Speaker 1: He, he left the, he left the parking lot. So
- 23:49Speaker 1: I was like, hey, small win. I won. Anyone see
- 23:53Speaker 1: that guys? I won. OK, that's all I wanted to
- 23:56Speaker 1: share for that one day you felt like the biggest
- 23:59Speaker 1: dog in the world. Yes, but there was no one
- 24:01Speaker 1: in my car to celebrate with me. Never mind. No
- 24:03Speaker 1: one saw that. OK, time to grill you about the trip, man.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I mean, we know what we know on social media,
- 24:08Speaker 1: like we've seen your photo dumps and all that. Oh
- 24:10Speaker 1: we've seen that giant.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Yak, which you tagged me in. Thank you for that. Yes,
- 24:14Speaker 1: very flattered. I mean, look, it's so sweet that I'm
- 24:18Speaker 1: still thinking about you and overseas, right? Actually, boss Dennis
- 24:21Speaker 1: dropped me a message saying, ah yeah, why he tagged
- 24:23Speaker 1: you in the picture? Still thinking of you got separation anxiety,
- 24:26Speaker 1: is it?
- 24:29Speaker 1: Nobody will understand our unique friendship and relationship except you
- 24:33Speaker 1: and me and Jeremy, OK, I dare say so, and
- 24:37Speaker 1: your parents. I'm just really laughing at that, to be honest.
- 24:40Speaker 1: But anyway, tell us about your trip. I mean, beyond
- 24:42Speaker 1: what we've seen on, you know, your photos and stuff. Look,
- 24:45Speaker 1: for the past.
- 24:47Speaker 1: 7 or 8 months, ever since I got back from
- 24:50Speaker 1: Spain last year, I planned this already, like, OK, I'll
- 24:54Speaker 1: give myself something to look forward to. Maybe sometime in
- 24:57Speaker 1: late May or early June I'll go somewhere and the
- 25:00Speaker 1: past few of my travels have been to places in Europe,
- 25:05Speaker 1: like 1012 hours away and New Zealand. So I thought
- 25:08Speaker 1: let's go somewhere nearby where I've not really explored. Hey, Bhutan.
- 25:13Speaker 1: So when I told people I'm going to go Bhutan,
- 25:15Speaker 1: their reaction is, huh, Bhutan, why Bhutan? But it's beautiful
- 25:19Speaker 1: and I was just sharing with Joakim that my experience
- 25:21Speaker 1: in Bhutan, although it was quite different because it was
- 25:23Speaker 1: work related, but I still felt like it was quite
- 25:26Speaker 1: Chemical altering for me. Like, exactly, like it altered my
- 25:29Speaker 1: emotions and my brain and stuff in a good way.
- 25:31Speaker 1: So the trip was beautiful, clean air, carbon negative country, yeah,
- 25:37Speaker 1: I was in the car a lot, but once you're
- 25:39Speaker 1: walking the trails and trekking, and thankfully my guide, what
- 25:42Speaker 1: up U Gwen.
- 25:43Speaker 1: And my driver Tin Ley and look, the roads are
- 25:47Speaker 1: not Singapore roads. No, not at all. They're not laid
- 25:49Speaker 1: out so nicely. Yeah, the mountain roads are, you got
- 25:53Speaker 1: to have some skill. So Tin Lay kept us safe,
- 25:56Speaker 1: you know, we were awake. There was a 5-hour drive
- 25:59Speaker 1: from Ganta Popjika Valley back all the way to Paro
- 26:03Speaker 1: where I was dreading the drive, but the drive was seamless.
- 26:06Speaker 1: It was long. It was bumpy. We stopped every hour
- 26:09Speaker 1: to make sure we were all OK, did some stretching.
- 26:11Speaker 1: We had some tea.
- 26:12Speaker 1: The food in Bhutando is so good.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I love that they love spice as well. I mean,
- 26:18Speaker 1: they call dumplings momo, but the best meals that you
- 26:22Speaker 1: will have in Bhutan, if you're going, tell your travel
- 26:25Speaker 1: agency and your guide that you want to go for
- 26:28Speaker 1: a home cooked meal. Yes, it's beautiful, and this place
- 26:32Speaker 1: that I went to, it's called Traveler's Farmhouse by this grandma,
- 26:35Speaker 1: we call her Auntie Choden. I feel like we, I
- 26:38Speaker 1: might have been to the same one. I don't know
- 26:40Speaker 1: whether it's the same lady, but we went to someone's house.
- 26:43Speaker 1: As well, so I wonder if it's the same lady? It's,
- 26:46Speaker 1: I think it was in Paro, but it's been so
- 26:48Speaker 1: many years for me, so I can't recall exactly. Look,
- 26:51Speaker 1: everything's the beef was grown in her backyard. The rice,
- 26:56Speaker 1: the asparagus, the broccoli, the potatoes, the chili, and look,
- 27:01Speaker 1: Bhutanese cuisine, Emma Dasi, it's chili cheese. I love it.
- 27:05Speaker 1: So it's, it, it quite literally is what we describe
- 27:08Speaker 1: it as chili.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Plus cheese, OK, but it works because for their climate,
- 27:14Speaker 1: for the environment, like you want that little kick, you know,
- 27:16Speaker 1: and I'm somebody who appreciates other people's religion and culture.
- 27:20Speaker 1: So I learned a bit about Buddhism, went into monasteries,
- 27:23Speaker 1: and also the Bumra Trek where you go 4200 m
- 27:29Speaker 1: above sea level, then you descend to Tiger's Nest, the
- 27:33Speaker 1: most beautiful trek I've done in my life so far.
- 27:36Speaker 1: I kind of wish that I did that Bhutan trip
- 27:39Speaker 1: in the later years of my, like, more recently because
- 27:43Speaker 1: I think my fitness level back then was really bad.
- 27:46Speaker 1: So I struggled, I struggled together with one of the cameramen, right?
- 27:49Speaker 1: Both of us our fitness levels not so great. So we,
- 27:53Speaker 1: we trailed behind quite a little bit, but we still
- 27:55Speaker 1: managed to make it eventually. You can always go back,
- 27:58Speaker 1: but also given recent events, I do want to say this,
- 28:01Speaker 1: when it comes to Bhutan.
- 28:04Speaker 1: If you're gonna do what I do and really enjoy
- 28:06Speaker 1: it as a whole, there's a certain level of fitness
- 28:09Speaker 1: that it requires because you're gonna go uphill, up slope.
- 28:13Speaker 1: You'll be breathing very quiet and the air is thin
- 28:15Speaker 1: because of the altitude. So, uh, when I reached the
- 28:19Speaker 1: summit of Boomra, I had a little bit of the
- 28:21Speaker 1: altitude sickness, and altitude headache. Yeah, one of our, one
- 28:24Speaker 1: of our crew members had altitude sickness. So bring Panadol.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Sleep it off and you'll be fine the next morning,
- 28:30Speaker 1: but always listen to your body first, then listen to
- 28:34Speaker 1: your guide. I think it's more of like if you
- 28:37Speaker 1: are physically ready to do it, you also want it
- 28:39Speaker 1: to be memorable and you want to be safe. You
- 28:41Speaker 1: know what's the one thing I hate about traveling though,
- 28:44Speaker 1: and this happened to me during a sabbatical as well,
- 28:47Speaker 1: especially during the peak period of COVID. Like you keep
- 28:50Speaker 1: yourself so safe from.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Illness and sickness, right? The moment you come back to Singapore,
- 28:56Speaker 1: you just fall sick. That's what happened to me during
- 28:59Speaker 1: our sabbatical. Like I caught COVID for the first time.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I caught COVID too. Oh yeah, we, we were laughing
- 29:05Speaker 1: about it. They were saying that despite being away from
- 29:07Speaker 1: each other for 2 months, we both caught COVID. So I,
- 29:10Speaker 1: I had a really fun time with my friends for
- 29:13Speaker 1: like 2 or 3 weeks, 3 weeks in the US, OK.
- 29:16Speaker 1: The moment I came back, day one of coming back,
- 29:19Speaker 1: I started to feel my throat starting to itch, and
- 29:22Speaker 1: it turns out I had COVID. And for me, maybe
- 29:24Speaker 1: the Bhutanese food really reset my body. It's so clean, right?
- 29:28Speaker 1: The moment I had something processed like a protein banana
- 29:33Speaker 1: milk drink, yeah, like a milkshake, stomach flu.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I think it was something was wrong with that drink
- 29:39Speaker 1: for sure. It was definitely contaminated. Well, OK, I'm angry.
- 29:42Speaker 1: We're gonna touch on this in just a bit. I
- 29:44Speaker 1: think it's our bodies's way of telling us we don't
- 29:46Speaker 1: want to come back to work, to be honest. Yeah,
- 29:48Speaker 1: we'll touch on that and hopefully you have some stories
- 29:50Speaker 1: to share. I want to open up phone lines right now, 669-11987.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I think this, this is a bit of um very.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Recent sore point for Joakim because you came back from Bhutan, well,
- 30:01Speaker 1: a number of days ago, right? And I'm guessing it's
- 30:04Speaker 1: because you want to just calibrate and get back into
- 30:07Speaker 1: Singapore time zone and your habits here in Singapore and
- 30:10Speaker 1: stuff before coming back to work, which was my intention
- 30:13Speaker 1: as well coming back from my trip, right? But sometimes
- 30:16Speaker 1: when you come back,
- 30:17Speaker 1: Your body just gives up, ah, and you fall sick.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I mean, the number one concern of us when we
- 30:23Speaker 1: travel sometimes to an unfamiliar country, we might think, oh no,
- 30:27Speaker 1: is the food clean? Will I get food poisoning? Is
- 30:29Speaker 1: the ice safe to drink or even the tap water
- 30:32Speaker 1: drink with, yeah, tap water. And to your surprise, hey,
- 30:36Speaker 1: I'm OK. Yeah. And then when you come back to Singapore.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Something as random as a bottled drink might give you
- 30:43Speaker 1: a stomach flu. Yeah, you, you never know. I think
- 30:46Speaker 1: was it a stomach flu or was it food poisoning
- 30:48Speaker 1: because those are two different things. Uh, OK, what, what
- 30:51Speaker 1: is gastroenteritis, stomach flu, right? No, gastro, you know what,
- 30:55Speaker 1: I'm not sure. Gastroenteritis is related to food. Doctor Chew
- 30:59Speaker 1: is in the house.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Dude, I'm not a doctor. IT as well, food poisoning
- 31:07Speaker 1: and stomach flu. Maybe it's related. I don't know. I
- 31:10Speaker 1: drank something contaminated. Yeah, anyway, trust your doctor. You went
- 31:14Speaker 1: to see him anyway. I don't trust me. I don't
- 31:16Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. But open up the phone lines, 669-11987.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I'm sure this has happened to the best of us.
- 31:22Speaker 1: You keep well during your vacation. You have such a
- 31:25Speaker 1: good time only to fall sick the moment you come
- 31:27Speaker 1: back home to Singapore.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Maybe it's just your body's way of saying, I don't wanna,
- 31:32Speaker 1: I don't want to go back to work. I don't
- 31:33Speaker 1: want to go back to school. That or maybe a
- 31:35Speaker 1: drastic weather change. You just got back from negative temperatures. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:42Speaker 1: it happens. And then you come back to Singapore's 32, 33. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:46Speaker 1: So give us a call 669-11987 or drop us a
- 31:49Speaker 1: WhatsApp message 90050987. Has this ever happened to you before?
- 31:54Speaker 1: You have the best vacation ever, only to fall sick
- 31:57Speaker 1: the moment you land back here in Singapore.
- 32:00Speaker 1: And if we do like your answer, hey, we are
- 32:02Speaker 1: pampering you this week. Las Palmas at Courtyard by Marriott. Yes,
- 32:07Speaker 1: so beautiful. They offer stunning sunset views and Palm Springs
- 32:11Speaker 1: is actually the inspiration. So you're in for a treat.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Way to rub it in my face, Sonia. I mean,
- 32:16Speaker 1: of course, like, you know, all our, our topics and
- 32:18Speaker 1: things that we talk about are always inspired by, by
- 32:20Speaker 1: real-life situations, right? And as you already know, the moment
- 32:24Speaker 1: Joakim landed back here in Singapore, everything was fine when
- 32:26Speaker 1: he was traveling. The moment he got back immediately.
- 32:29Speaker 1: fell sick with stomach flu, which is the irony of things, right?
- 32:32Speaker 1: You worry that you catch this while you're traveling. I mean,
- 32:36Speaker 1: I was hoping to be here with you yesterday celebrating
- 32:38Speaker 1: Hamilton's win. I know it could have been a fun
- 32:41Speaker 1: show as well, but it's all good, it's all good.
- 32:43Speaker 1: So we're asking you this question here today. Have you
- 32:45Speaker 1: ever experienced the same thing? You travel, you have the
- 32:48Speaker 1: best time of your life, you didn't fall sick at all.
- 32:50Speaker 1: So you're like woohoo, triumphant. The moment you come back, boom, flu,
- 32:54Speaker 1: food poisoning, I don't know, whatever it is. How do
- 32:57Speaker 1: you cheer again? Woohoo.
- 32:59Speaker 1: It's me. My, that's my small little celebratory noise. OK,
- 33:03Speaker 1: we got one coming in from Frederick. Hello, Sonia and Joakim.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Oh my God, I did. At the start of the year,
- 33:10Speaker 1: I went to Pu Kwok, Vietnam with my group of friends.
- 33:13Speaker 1: The trip was awesome. We had plenty of awesome food
- 33:16Speaker 1: on the last day of the trip. We had lunch
- 33:19Speaker 1: at a seafood restaurant. We had
- 33:20Speaker 1: Loads of oysters. After returning back to Singapore, a few
- 33:24Speaker 1: days later, I fell sick, vomiting and diarrhea. Had to
- 33:28Speaker 1: take about two days to MC from work. A lot
- 33:30Speaker 1: of my friends also fell sick. Oh no. So yeah,
- 33:32Speaker 1: it's 100%. You know, the funny thing was, I was
- 33:35Speaker 1: in Bali, um for a countdown of 2025 to 2026, right?
- 33:41Speaker 1: So I was quite cautious about it. Like I didn't
- 33:44Speaker 1: want to eat anything raw, you know, I didn't want
- 33:45Speaker 1: to eat oysters or like sashimi and all that.
- 33:48Speaker 1: So my friends had raw oysters and sashimi. They were fine.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Jeremy was the one that got food poisoning. He didn't
- 33:55Speaker 1: even touch the raw stuff. It's like, where does it
- 33:58Speaker 1: come from? You never know. Could have been the ice
- 34:00Speaker 1: in the drink. Did you figure out where it came from? No, no, it's,
- 34:04Speaker 1: it's too hard to identify. Maybe the avocado wasn't properly. Um,
- 34:09Speaker 1: saying hi to A didn't leave your name. You said
- 34:11Speaker 1: morning Sojo, and welcome back Crowe. Hello, A. It's been,
- 34:16Speaker 1: it's been 3 months.
- 34:18Speaker 1: His nickname. No, no, it's too funny. Stop it. Um,
- 34:21Speaker 1: he says, I think it's not about the weather change
- 34:23Speaker 1: or coming back from a different environment. It's about what
- 34:26Speaker 1: the next day or next few days bring, which is work.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Your body will say, you are sick, you are sick.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Imagine coming back from a holiday and you still have
- 34:35Speaker 1: maybe 4 to 5 days of leave. Your body won't
- 34:37Speaker 1: be sick. But my body's always telling me that I'm
- 34:40Speaker 1: sick from Sunday night to Thursday night. Come Friday night,
- 34:42Speaker 1: suddenly I'm energetic.
- 34:45Speaker 1: That's so true, by the way. That is so true.
- 34:47Speaker 1: You have a new lease of life on Friday, I feel. Yeah,
- 34:50Speaker 1: I can name some colleagues that are like this. Can
- 34:52Speaker 1: you not look at me like that when you say
- 34:53Speaker 1: that sick the whole week suddenly Friday night? No, I'm no, I'm,
- 34:58Speaker 1: I'm tired the whole week. I still come to work,
- 35:00Speaker 1: but Friday, suddenly I got energy. I wonder where it
- 35:02Speaker 1: comes from peddle and all that, you know. Yeah, I
- 35:05Speaker 1: actually sent Joakim a video while I was at another
- 35:08Speaker 1: bar on Saturday, and I didn't realize that he was
- 35:11Speaker 1: at home puking.
- 35:14Speaker 1: Hey, I had no idea. Anyway, we're still accepting your calls,
- 35:18Speaker 1: of course. We've got time for that. 669-11987. Having a
- 35:21Speaker 1: lot of fun with this today.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Um, have you ever traveled, had the best time ever
- 35:25Speaker 1: on your vacation, only to fall sick the moment you
- 35:28Speaker 1: came back home? Let us know. In exchange, we've got
- 35:31Speaker 1: a beautiful treat coming your way. All thanks to Las
- 35:34Speaker 1: Palmas over at Courtyard by Marriott. OK, so we're drawing
- 35:39Speaker 1: inspiration from Joakim's pain, because the moment he came back
- 35:42Speaker 1: from his trip, that seemed like such a fun trip,
- 35:44Speaker 1: you know, and it was very healing and all that.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Got sick the moment he came back, but I think
- 35:49Speaker 1: this happens to the best of us. It really does.
- 35:52Speaker 1: The body healed so much. The moment I touched processed food, boom,
- 35:57Speaker 1: food poisoning. Anyway, I wanna say good morning to, I
- 36:01Speaker 1: believe your name is Annie. Annie, are you OK? Are
- 36:04Speaker 1: you OK? I was in Ho Chi Minh with my
- 36:07Speaker 1: sis with my sister this March for a shopping trip.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Being first.
- 36:12Speaker 1: My first time in Ho Chi Minh, I was quite
- 36:15Speaker 1: amazed how cheap everything was and literally have this feeling
- 36:18Speaker 1: like I'm spending like a millionaire. But of course, we
- 36:22Speaker 1: are still very cautious of what we ate throughout after
- 36:24Speaker 1: hearing scary stories of food poisoning. So on the last
- 36:28Speaker 1: day after the moment the plane took off, I had
- 36:29Speaker 1: this nauseous feeling, and I thought, eh, why is my
- 36:33Speaker 1: motion sickness this bad? But the feeling never went off
- 36:37Speaker 1: even after the seatbelt sign was turned off.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Oh, I suspect it was the ice coffee I had
- 36:44Speaker 1: at the airport because that was the only beverage we
- 36:47Speaker 1: had with ice. Yo, you see, that's the thing, you
- 36:49Speaker 1: got to be so extra careful and sometimes even when
- 36:52Speaker 1: we are extra careful, um, I don't know whether this
- 36:55Speaker 1: is being paranoid on the next level, but my friends
- 36:57Speaker 1: and I were saying like, oh, we should use mineral
- 36:58Speaker 1: water to like brush our teeth and stuff, like especially
- 37:01Speaker 1: because of belly. So I did that. I did that
- 37:03Speaker 1: and thankfully we were fine, but we all know that
- 37:06Speaker 1: Jeremy wasn't fine.
- 37:08Speaker 1: He laughed at me for using uh mineral water to
- 37:11Speaker 1: brush teeth. He has an acquired stomach, you know. No,
- 37:14Speaker 1: his stomach's not great either, but anyway, we're heading to
- 37:17Speaker 1: phone lines in just a few minutes and uh we'll
- 37:20Speaker 1: find out your stories there too. 669-11987. Have you ever
- 37:24Speaker 1: experienced the same thing as Joakim? You're perfectly fine during
- 37:27Speaker 1: your trip.
- 37:28Speaker 1: But the moment you get back home, your body just
- 37:30Speaker 1: shuts down and you fall ill. Talking about how sometimes
- 37:33Speaker 1: your body just knows and it shuts down the moment
- 37:36Speaker 1: you come back from a really fun trip, you know,
- 37:39Speaker 1: and perhaps it could be attributed to the climate or
- 37:42Speaker 1: something we always say, but some people are saying, I
- 37:44Speaker 1: think it's psychological. You just don't want to go back
- 37:46Speaker 1: to real life, you know.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I mean, stomach flu isn't funny. Yeah, definitely. You had
- 37:52Speaker 1: a you had a rough weekend. So let's see any
- 37:56Speaker 1: similar experiences. Yeah, sure. I want to say good morning
- 37:58Speaker 1: to Jane. Hey, Joakim and Sonia, in 2017, my first
- 38:02Speaker 1: solo trip to India, it was also my first date
- 38:06Speaker 1: with my now husband. Oh, interesting.
- 38:09Speaker 1: He showed me the beautiful Himalayas and it was my
- 38:12Speaker 1: first time seeing snow. Temperatures were 13 degrees. It was
- 38:16Speaker 1: such a magical 10 days spent getting to know each
- 38:20Speaker 1: other more. The moment I got back home to Singapore,
- 38:22Speaker 1: my body was a wreck. I had hives all over,
- 38:26Speaker 1: bruises from falling while walking in the snow, and even
- 38:29Speaker 1: ran a high fever. What a trip. You know what,
- 38:32Speaker 1: I sometimes feel that I need to allocate a week
- 38:34Speaker 1: to recover from a trip because your skin goes like
- 38:36Speaker 1: out of.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Wack, you are not the same. You need, you need
- 38:40Speaker 1: a few days to recover. To which the question on
- 38:42Speaker 1: every Singaporean's mind, where got enough leave? Never enough time.
- 38:45Speaker 1: There never is because you need a vacation to recover
- 38:47Speaker 1: from the vacation. Another text from an Annie coming in.
- 38:52Speaker 1: My recent trip from Japan was awesome with loads of
- 38:54Speaker 1: sashimi and wagyu. The moment I touched down at the airport,
- 38:58Speaker 1: I felt my tummy churn while waiting for the door
- 39:01Speaker 1: to open. My face turned white, and I couldn't walk further.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Oh no. I had to let out a fart. Oh no!
- 39:08Speaker 1: Are you sure this is safe for reading out on air?
- 39:11Speaker 1: The fart became something else on air. OK, so you
- 39:13Speaker 1: can't read the second half of the message. I knew
- 39:15Speaker 1: what happened and I had to take a small inch
- 39:17Speaker 1: for every step I made. Oh my gosh. Yikes. Yikes, yeah,
- 39:21Speaker 1: yikes is right. Anyway, we have Jia Yi on the
- 39:24Speaker 1: line right now. What happens?
- 39:26Speaker 2: I had
- 39:26Speaker 2: an experience back in China, so I was on my
- 39:30Speaker 2: very last day and then I was about to fly back.
- 39:32Speaker 2: But then, I suddenly started getting very nauseous ever since
- 39:36Speaker 2: the moment I woke up. So, I realized um I
- 39:39Speaker 2: might have something like a stomach flu. So I started
- 39:42Speaker 2: like vomiting, and then even worse is that when I
- 39:46Speaker 2: got onto the plane, I still had like the vom
- 39:49Speaker 2: vomiting still going on. Yeah. Yes, it was so horrible then.
- 39:55Speaker 2: I was like, OK, let me just write this out.
- 39:58Speaker 2: But then I decided to go to the toilet, then
- 40:00Speaker 2: I had my last like purge, and then I was like, eh,
- 40:02Speaker 2: I'm completely fine again. I was like, I don't feel
- 40:05Speaker 2: bad anymore. I feel, in fact I feel amazing. I
- 40:07Speaker 2: was like, everything is out of my system, yeah. But
- 40:10Speaker 2: then I was like so hungry, so, I decided to
- 40:14Speaker 2: get um a cup noodle. So I bought a cup noodle,
- 40:17Speaker 2: I ate it. Yes, then I woke up in like
- 40:22Speaker 2: 30 minutes and
- 40:23Speaker 2: I had the same like stomach flu feeling all over again,
- 40:27Speaker 2: so I was back to like vomiting and purging
- 40:29Speaker 2: again.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Did you ever find out what caused the first one?
- 40:34Speaker 2: Yes, actually, looking back at the photos, I think there
- 40:37Speaker 2: was this oyster I ate that now looking back, it
- 40:41Speaker 2: looked completely not fresh. I don't know why I decided
- 40:44Speaker 2: to go ahead and eat it.
- 40:47Speaker 1: It's, it's always the oyster. I don't know why it's
- 40:49Speaker 1: always the oyster, I swear. OK, this is where all
- 40:51Speaker 1: those AI glasses will come in handy. Hey, AI is this?
- 40:55Speaker 1: Fresh. Down to our last few stories, messages and calls
- 40:59Speaker 1: about whether or not you've experienced coming back from an
- 41:01Speaker 1: epic trip, only to fall really sick the moment you
- 41:05Speaker 1: came back to Singapore or maybe even at the tail
- 41:07Speaker 1: end of your trip. Want to say good morning to Claire,
- 41:09Speaker 1: who I believe shares the same religion as all two
- 41:11Speaker 1: of us. Sonia here on the show. She's Catholic. OK, hi.
- 41:15Speaker 1: What has it got to do with this story? Morning,
- 41:17Speaker 1: Sonia and Joy.
- 41:18Speaker 1: I fasted from bubble tea for Lent. Oh, OK, so, um, TLDR,
- 41:24Speaker 1: you are supposed to sacrifice something or give something up
- 41:27Speaker 1: during this period of time. It can be like meat
- 41:30Speaker 1: or the simple pleasures in life, you know. After Easter,
- 41:34Speaker 1: I was expecting to get my first bubble tea, but
- 41:37Speaker 1: guess what? I had diarrhea so bad I fainted in
- 41:39Speaker 1: the toilet?
- 41:41Speaker 1: Wait, what? From bubble tea, you know, I think it's
- 41:43Speaker 1: the sudden sugar surge or something like that milk maybe
- 41:46Speaker 1: even Safe to say I don't drink bubble tea anymore.
- 41:49Speaker 1: My husband said I can save more money from now on. Actually, facts, man,
- 41:53Speaker 1: like we spend quite a lot of money on drinks,
- 41:54Speaker 1: you know, like even going to the cafe to buy
- 41:56Speaker 1: like a latte or something, that's what, $7 or $8.
- 41:59Speaker 1: 1 hawker meal.
- 42:03Speaker 1: How much is it now? Like, what? 8? No, less
- 42:06Speaker 1: depends depends on what you order, I think, yeah. OK,
- 42:09Speaker 1: Brandon's on the line. What happened man? OK, so, um,
- 42:12Speaker 1: I had a work trip, not really work trip, but
- 42:14Speaker 1: a trip with my colleagues, and then we went to Malaysia.
- 42:18Speaker 1: So we went to some part, further north. So we
- 42:22Speaker 1: went caving. There were two parts to the cave, so
- 42:25Speaker 1: Um, the first part of the cave was the easy route,
- 42:27Speaker 1: and then, uh, some of us decided to take on
- 42:30Speaker 1: the challenge and go to the, uh, there was a
- 42:32Speaker 1: narrow entrance, um, crawl underneath, and then, um, we, I
- 42:37Speaker 1: think we drank, drank a bit of the water in there.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Oh, because you are crawling, OK. So we went back, um,
- 42:44Speaker 1: all those that didn't go into the other part, they
- 42:47Speaker 1: were fine, but all that went in underneath and then
- 42:50Speaker 1: drank a beer of the water, we all had uncontrollable
- 42:53Speaker 1: diarrhea for about 2 weeks. 2 weeks, that's really severe.
- 42:57Speaker 1: What does this remind me of the time we had
- 42:59Speaker 1: a tan beach, the water. I couldn't explain that. I
- 43:02Speaker 1: was fine.
- 43:08Speaker 1: I think you know what, I eat too much spice
- 43:10Speaker 1: with it. Like everything that goes into my stomach dies.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Maybe your stomach is stronger than mine. I had so
- 43:15Speaker 1: many hilarious stories coming through. I told you people can
- 43:18Speaker 1: relate to this. One person's gain, or rather one person's
- 43:21Speaker 1: pain is hers or his pain gain. Are you hello,
- 43:25Speaker 1: can you? What's going on? You come to work for
- 43:28Speaker 1: almost two weeks and you can't English. Your pain is
- 43:30Speaker 1: your gain. Congratulations to your, your pain is their gain.
- 43:37Speaker 1: Wait,
- 43:39Speaker 1: Right, I mean, they were sharing painful stories. OK, OK.
- 43:43Speaker 1: So one person's pain is that person's gain. OK, done. OK. Congratulations.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Are you?
- 43:57Speaker 1: We've been away for too long. We forgot how to work.
- 44:00Speaker 1: You forgot how to work. Yes, congrats, Jia Yi. You're
- 44:02Speaker 1: walking away with this beautiful dining experience. It is worth $100.
- 44:06Speaker 1: I believe you get a wonderful view of the scenic
- 44:09Speaker 1: landscape as well of the district Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena.
- 44:14Speaker 1: They want to take you to Las Palmas, Novena's only
- 44:18Speaker 1: rooftop bar. Beautiful. We're talking a sundowner happy hour from $9.
- 44:24Speaker 1: From Tuesdays to Thursdays, 8:00 p.m. to midnight, or weeknight
- 44:29Speaker 1: twilight featuring $10 spirits with mixes and 50% off every
- 44:35Speaker 1: second signature cocktail. Sounds like this could be a post-dinner
- 44:39Speaker 1: place after a nice date if it's going well to
- 44:42Speaker 1: carry on the convo. Yeah, so congratulations. Please enjoy. It's
- 44:45Speaker 1: worth $100 or we invite our guests in. I was
- 44:49Speaker 1: just joking.
- 44:50Speaker 1: And while Joakim was away, it seems like there was
- 44:52Speaker 1: a lot of Bordo crime-related news. And if you've only
- 44:54Speaker 1: just tuned in to us, you don't know what that is.
- 44:56Speaker 1: We highlight certain incidents that we will classify as crime,
- 45:01Speaker 1: but nobody gets hurt. It is not anything severe or serious,
- 45:05Speaker 1: more like face palm worthy moments that make you wonder
- 45:08Speaker 1: why people even attempt to do it in the first place.
- 45:10Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, some crimes committed here in Singapore, it's
- 45:15Speaker 1: one of those things where
- 45:17Speaker 1: Like why do you even try? Why do you try
- 45:18Speaker 1: to do, is it? Take these five men, for example.
- 45:23Speaker 1: 5 of them. They were aged between 19 to 24.
- 45:27Speaker 1: So like maybe, you know, ITE poly or uni age
- 45:31Speaker 1: or JCH, right, you're probably hanging out at night at
- 45:33Speaker 1: 2:30 a.m. at Woodlands Close, and they see an unintended motorcycle.
- 45:40Speaker 1: What did they do? They give it a push start.
- 45:44Speaker 1: It started, started, went for a joy ride. No, no.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Did they even have a bike license? I'm guessing not.
- 45:51Speaker 1: I don't know about that one. So after going for
- 45:55Speaker 1: a joy ride, I guess the police report was made
- 45:57Speaker 1: by the owner. The owner realized it was gone, like
- 46:00Speaker 1: in the middle of the night. It was recovered because
- 46:03Speaker 1: it was stolen, as in they didn't put it back.
- 46:05Speaker 1: I don't think so. At least put it back, guys.
- 46:09Speaker 1: I mean, way to make it more obvious. Yeah, so
- 46:12Speaker 1: the police were able to establish their identities and all
- 46:15Speaker 1: of them were arrested within 13 hours. Oh my God.
- 46:18Speaker 1: There you go. How you jumpstart a bike asking for
- 46:21Speaker 1: a friend? I wouldn't know if I don't know if
- 46:23Speaker 1: I knew, would I tell you? Not on it. No,
- 46:27Speaker 1: but to my bros out there here in Singapore, let's
- 46:30Speaker 1: not be stupid lah. Yeah, this is just a moment, man. Can,
- 46:33Speaker 1: can we find better ways to spend our time?
- 46:36Speaker 1: This is an excellent use of free will, guys. Now
- 46:39Speaker 1: it's World Cup season. Yeah, it is. Anyway, uh, when
- 46:43Speaker 1: we come back, we would love to invite a lovely,
- 46:46Speaker 1: lovely couple to the studio back together after us taking
- 46:50Speaker 1: turns to go on leave. I think it's almost been
- 46:52Speaker 1: like a full month since we've had a proper show together,
- 46:55Speaker 1: aside from that one crossover that we had before you
- 46:58Speaker 1: left for Bhua. But it's good to be back. I've
- 47:00Speaker 1: missed you. I've missed work, and this is lock-in season
- 47:03Speaker 1: for me and oh my goodness.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Goodness, I am 38 in a month plus time. That's true.
- 47:08Speaker 1: The countdown begins actually quite soon. Any, any plans yet
- 47:13Speaker 1: or like, I mean, last year your mom threw you
- 47:15Speaker 1: a surprise party. Yeah, I don't think it will happen again. OK, not,
- 47:18Speaker 1: not for this, maybe at 40, maybe a big one.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Then I'll throw myself a birthday party if I'm not
- 47:24Speaker 1: married by then. Oh, so if you are, then you're
- 47:26Speaker 1: going to leave it to your wife, your future wife. No,
- 47:29Speaker 1: if I, then I'll throw the wedding party.
- 47:33Speaker 1: No, I meant, I thought if you're already married by your,
- 47:35Speaker 1: by the time you're 40, then your partner will do it, what?
- 47:39Speaker 1: Like your life partner will do it, not me, not
- 47:41Speaker 1: the radio partner. I wouldn't burden lah. Why? It's quite fun.
- 47:45Speaker 1: I mean, to plan for I mean she's a planner
- 47:47Speaker 1: and she loves doing things like that, why not, right? OK. Alright, anyway, um,
- 47:51Speaker 1: you still have time to think about what you want
- 47:52Speaker 1: to do for your thirty-eighth, I guess. You've got a
- 47:55Speaker 1: little over a month, you know, text someone to bring
- 48:01Speaker 1: you or who shall take the responsibility this year.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Just kidding.
