- 0:15Speaker 1: five three five forty three forty three. That's six oh
- 0:18Speaker 1: eight five three five forty three forty three. Joining us
- 0:21Speaker 1: this morning, fresh from the gym, mister Andrew Larson and
- 0:24Speaker 1: Larsen Services. Andrew, how you doing this morning?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Uh? You know, I got a good pump going on. Yeah,
- 0:29Speaker 2: and my head's clear, probably because I took three hundred
- 0:32Speaker 2: milligrams of caffeine and my pre workout. You know, you
- 0:36Speaker 2: get me after pre workout yea and lifting every single Wednesday.
- 0:40Speaker 2: So that's why I'm so talkative. I'm usually pretty much
- 0:42Speaker 2: an introvert. That is, uh, I'm kidding.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I was gonna say that's gonna say that is surprising,
- 0:47Speaker 1: but not you are. And that's you know what We're
- 0:51Speaker 1: going to talk this week about about some of the
- 0:53Speaker 1: questions to be asking a contractor and you know, those
- 0:57Speaker 1: really important things that folks need to need to do
- 1:00Speaker 1: as far as any type of repair, any type of
- 1:03Speaker 1: thing being done on your home. Some of the questions asked.
- 1:05Speaker 1: But that is one of the things that that that
- 1:07Speaker 1: I think is really important. One of the things that
- 1:08Speaker 1: I know you and everyone at our home services really
- 1:11Speaker 1: excels at is communication. It's a it's such a vital
- 1:14Speaker 1: part of what you do. Obviously, the work and the
- 1:17Speaker 1: result is the most important part, but there are other
- 1:20Speaker 1: things that are very important. And the ability to have
- 1:23Speaker 1: a good communication channel is vital in this in this world,
- 1:26Speaker 1: isn't it, Andrew?
- 1:28Speaker 2: It absolutely is. It's very, very very vital. Sorry, no,
- 1:36Speaker 2: I was good.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I was gonna say with that too. And as we
- 1:38Speaker 1: talk about, you know that having that that good communication,
- 1:42Speaker 1: is that like one of those questions like so, I
- 1:44Speaker 1: think a lot of times we think of like so
- 1:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna you know, like a storm chase or something,
- 1:48Speaker 1: asks like hail damage or something there's people pounding on
- 1:50Speaker 1: my door. I think our our our, our our eyre
- 1:54Speaker 1: gets a little up like we're ready to like like
- 1:55Speaker 1: ask a bunch of tough questions, but like just in general,
- 1:58Speaker 1: like if you're having like you know, your roof is
- 2:01Speaker 1: just due for a replacement, just run of the mill,
- 2:04Speaker 1: it's time to be doing that stuff. One of those
- 2:07Speaker 1: questions I guess you should probably really important, which is
- 2:10Speaker 1: how do we communicate? How do we know, like, once
- 2:13Speaker 1: this job gets rolling, who am I in touch with?
- 2:15Speaker 1: Who's my point person? And I know, having worked with
- 2:18Speaker 1: Larstom Services very early on, you know right away exactly
- 2:22Speaker 1: who your point person is and they are always there
- 2:24Speaker 1: for you. That communication part and asking that question about
- 2:26Speaker 1: who your point person is really important one.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Isn't it. It's communication is everything. So here's the deal.
- 2:36Speaker 2: One thing that we make a very good point of doing,
- 2:39Speaker 2: and I think that every company should do this is,
- 2:41Speaker 2: you know, our model or one of our taglines is
- 2:44Speaker 2: be part of the experience. And that's not just us
- 2:47Speaker 2: doing a good job. I mean that's a given, right,
- 2:50Speaker 2: Like it's kind of a given nowadays that with the Internet,
- 2:54Speaker 2: and we talked about this last week, you know, with
- 2:56Speaker 2: with Google reviews and stuff like that, you got to
- 2:59Speaker 2: do a good job, right, But what's the experience like,
- 3:04Speaker 2: which normally almost always boils down to communication. It's communication.
- 3:09Speaker 2: How are we communicating with the homeowner? Even from the
- 3:12Speaker 2: first time that you call, you call our office, you
- 3:15Speaker 2: know you're going to talk to one of our amazing
- 3:17Speaker 2: appointment centers that I mean they set hundreds of appointments
- 3:21Speaker 2: a week. I mean two to three hundred appointments a week.
- 3:24Speaker 2: So they're very very good at what they do. They're
- 3:26Speaker 2: very very good at getting the information and setting the
- 3:29Speaker 2: best times possible for everybody. But you know, after our
- 3:32Speaker 2: sales rep comes, when they come out, we're going to
- 3:34Speaker 2: show you who the people are, pictures of them, names,
- 3:37Speaker 2: titles of what they're going to do, and what their
- 3:40Speaker 2: job is. Because you're going to get a welcome call,
- 3:43Speaker 2: and if you decide to use us for your project,
- 3:46Speaker 2: you're going to get a welcome call from a point person,
- 3:48Speaker 2: and then that person's going to let you know, hey,
- 3:50Speaker 2: you're going to be getting a call from so and so.
- 3:52Speaker 2: They're going to be the scheduler and so the communication.
- 3:57Speaker 2: We feel it's very important to for you to know
- 4:01Speaker 2: exactly who you're going to be talking to and what
- 4:03Speaker 2: their role is. But there is always a main point
- 4:06Speaker 2: person from the office, and then the day of the job,
- 4:09Speaker 2: there's a main point person, whether it's a roof and
- 4:12Speaker 2: we've got our roofing crews there, which our roofing crews
- 4:15Speaker 2: are subcontracted. I'm actually proud of that because we've had
- 4:18Speaker 2: the exact same roofing crew since twenty eleven, the only
- 4:23Speaker 2: crew we've ever used. But we also have a point
- 4:28Speaker 2: person on site with our company, one of our project
- 4:31Speaker 2: managers there all day to work with the crew, make
- 4:33Speaker 2: sure they have what they need, make sure your home's protected,
- 4:35Speaker 2: make sure your home is cleaned up. So when the
- 4:37Speaker 2: guys are really working putting your roof on, doing an
- 4:40Speaker 2: amazing job, and you have questions, we've got someone there
- 4:43Speaker 2: who can always answer questions. So when looking for a contractor,
- 4:47Speaker 2: one of the questions to ask is who is my
- 4:49Speaker 2: point person. I mean, there's a lot of companies out
- 4:51Speaker 2: there where a sales rep will come out sell the job,
- 4:55Speaker 2: and then that same sales rep is in charge of
- 4:58Speaker 2: that job as it's getting done. Yet they're not actually there.
- 5:01Speaker 2: They might swing over in the morning and say, hey,
- 5:03Speaker 2: good morning. The roof and crew is going to get
- 5:05Speaker 2: here in a little bit. If you have any questions,
- 5:06Speaker 2: call me see a buye. We don't believe in that.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I believe in having someone there the whole time is
- 5:15Speaker 2: so if you have questions, they're going to give you
- 5:17Speaker 2: their business cards. So I mean, listen, if you're getting
- 5:20Speaker 2: a roof done, there's a lot of stuff going on, right, yes, Wow,
- 5:23Speaker 2: maybe there's a lot of stuff going on, and maybe
- 5:26Speaker 2: you don't want to walk outside at that point, but
- 5:28Speaker 2: you can just call them, you can just text them.
- 5:30Speaker 2: They're around your yard somewhere. So communications huge, and that's
- 5:34Speaker 2: something that you should know. You should know when choosing
- 5:37Speaker 2: a contractor. You know, obviously simple how long have you
- 5:41Speaker 2: been in business? And then like actually really look that up.
- 5:44Speaker 2: It's easy to say anything you want. And a lot
- 5:46Speaker 2: of contract or starting business, go out of business, open
- 5:48Speaker 2: up under another name, and they can continue to do
- 5:51Speaker 2: that pretty much forever. And it's been going on for
- 5:55Speaker 2: years and years and years about a go ahead.
- 6:00Speaker 1: As you're asked, as we're kind of asking some of
- 6:02Speaker 1: these questions of you know, potential contractors, I know, one
- 6:05Speaker 1: of the things you mentioned is, of course how long
- 6:07Speaker 1: you've been in business. One of the things that is
- 6:09Speaker 1: amazing about what you do at Largstom Services. And I
- 6:12Speaker 1: hope folks gets to the website Largstom services dot com.
- 6:15Speaker 1: When you go down to your you know, get to
- 6:17Speaker 1: you know, words from your customers and your linked to
- 6:19Speaker 1: like your Google reviews four point eight out of five stars.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I mean, that is that is something that that doesn't
- 6:24Speaker 1: happen overnight, that has done through years and years and
- 6:28Speaker 1: years of really really high quality work. That people are
- 6:31Speaker 1: people are recognizing that work.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Uh, they're everything. Does I mean, you know, Google reviews
- 6:41Speaker 2: are almost as important to us as as as as
- 6:45Speaker 2: getting another job. I mean, because it's validation of the
- 6:48Speaker 2: project that we just did. I wish I was going
- 6:51Speaker 2: to screenshot this review that we got last week, and
- 6:57Speaker 2: my marketing director took it and put it on our
- 7:01Speaker 2: Facebook page. So some of y'all listening have probably seen it,
- 7:05Speaker 2: but I want to find it because the way that
- 7:07Speaker 2: this person described our roofing crew. All right, I'm gonna
- 7:13Speaker 2: read this one. I'm so proud of it. And this
- 7:16Speaker 2: is a massive house on the golf course in Bishop's Bay.
- 7:23Speaker 2: It's just a beautiful old like tutor, almost like a mansion,
- 7:26Speaker 2: and we put f Wave on it, which is our
- 7:29Speaker 2: plastic composite shingle. And if anybody goes on Facebook right
- 7:32Speaker 2: now and looks at this, I mean, it looks like
- 7:34Speaker 2: we put a real slate roof on this house, but
- 7:37Speaker 2: it's actually more like rubber. But anyway, Eric and the
- 7:41Speaker 2: entire crew. Eric is our project manager. Three crews, in fact,
- 7:45Speaker 2: were exceptional. They executed an enormous, steep, complex new roof
- 7:51Speaker 2: installation with energy, discipline, professionalism, and focus at a top
- 7:56Speaker 2: tier like a top tier military battalion. I would give
- 8:02Speaker 2: more stars if I could. The quality of this team's
- 8:05Speaker 2: labor was second to none. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I'm not gonna lie to you, like I literally get
- 8:12Speaker 2: goosebumps reading that. That right there is what it's all
- 8:16Speaker 2: about for me, because we do what we say we're
- 8:20Speaker 2: gonna do. And I still, to this day, after fifteen
- 8:24Speaker 2: years of business, take so much pride in homeowners choosing
- 8:28Speaker 2: us to do probably one of the most I mean,
- 8:32Speaker 2: that house right there. I'm just going to go off
- 8:34Speaker 2: the top of my head, but that was probably an
- 8:37Speaker 2: eighty or ninety thousand dollars roof. And to entrust us
- 8:42Speaker 2: to put that roof on that home, it just that's
- 8:47Speaker 2: what it's all about. John.
- 8:48Speaker 1: It is pretty. And the and the pictures that you
- 8:50Speaker 1: shared up at larsenop services dot com a couple of
- 8:53Speaker 1: photos of this house. You'll see really quickly as Andrew
- 8:56Speaker 1: talks about and of course about about Elseteae, the roof
- 9:00Speaker 1: is and and how big.
- 9:02Speaker 2: This house is.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Check that out, head on over to larslarm service dot com.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Read that review. It's pretty impressive. And then it does that.
- 9:09Speaker 1: That was the thing I was gonna put out to you.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I know you've been talking about Gonado for a while
- 9:12Speaker 1: and talking about F wave shingles and the F wave
- 9:16Speaker 1: shingles on this one. Pardon me, I'm like, those are
- 9:20Speaker 1: those are the F wave.
- 9:23Speaker 2: To make different styles and I want to sit here
- 9:24Speaker 2: and have an F wave commercial, but I'm telling you these,
- 9:27Speaker 2: in my opinion, these types of shingles are probably the
- 9:32Speaker 2: wave of the future. I mean, there's no fiberglass matting,
- 9:36Speaker 2: there's no ass there's no shingle rock on them to lose.
- 9:39Speaker 2: They are like a really thick car mat They are
- 9:42Speaker 2: colored all the way through, so you're not going to
- 9:44Speaker 2: lose the color of it. Hail just bounces off of
- 9:47Speaker 2: if they get scratched the heel from the sun. Yes,
- 9:50Speaker 2: they are expensive, but with more and more people wanting them,
- 9:53Speaker 2: the price should come down. It's just general economics. It's
- 9:55Speaker 2: just how the world works. But again, making sure the
- 10:00Speaker 2: communication is right and having a contractor not just come
- 10:02Speaker 2: out and say hey, yep, you need a new roof,
- 10:05Speaker 2: like make sure it actually gets inspected. I remember this
- 10:08Speaker 2: roof getting inspected because my sales rep called me and
- 10:10Speaker 2: he's like, wow, this was this was a fun one
- 10:13Speaker 2: to get on, and we've got the right equipment for
- 10:15Speaker 2: him to do and we've got the right shoes for
- 10:16Speaker 2: them to be able to get up on a roof
- 10:18Speaker 2: like that. And having the contractor actually show you the
- 10:23Speaker 2: pieces and parts of that roof or whatever project you're doing,
- 10:27Speaker 2: showing you exactly what they're doing, where they're using them,
- 10:30Speaker 2: and how they're doing them. That's huge because you can't
- 10:32Speaker 2: hold anybody accountable if you don't actually know how that
- 10:36Speaker 2: roof is going to go, what's going where, and when
- 10:40Speaker 2: you have no idea, there's no way to really question it.
- 10:42Speaker 2: And we take a lot of pride in going through
- 10:44Speaker 2: the details.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I still remember sitting at my kitchen table with your
- 10:47Speaker 1: team and them showing me like how the pieces fit together.
- 10:51Speaker 1: It's funny to think about that, but like it was
- 10:54Speaker 1: super informative of like, Okay, here's this layer, here's this layer,
- 10:58Speaker 1: here's the flashing, here's where it fits into stuff, And
- 11:01Speaker 1: as a whole owner, you're going, this is the stuff.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I never knew, but you're like, hey, all makes sense. Now,
- 11:06Speaker 1: I understand people don't know.
- 11:07Speaker 2: But in order for you to hold someone accountable, including us,
- 11:12Speaker 2: you need to know what's going up there, where it's going,
- 11:15Speaker 2: and how much of it we're using. Because if we
- 11:18Speaker 2: don't tell you that, we could just remember I always
- 11:21Speaker 2: say we're talking about picking a contractor now I'm getting
- 11:24Speaker 2: into talking about roofing.
- 11:25Speaker 1: But it is worth This makes surprise people, but most
- 11:29Speaker 1: conversations end up.
- 11:32Speaker 2: But I always say, the most important part of the
- 11:36Speaker 2: roof is covered up. So if you don't know, if
- 11:38Speaker 2: they don't communicate exactly what they're using, where and how
- 11:41Speaker 2: much it's all covered up. Later if you're watching it
- 11:44Speaker 2: go on, there's no way for you to tell if
- 11:47Speaker 2: they're actually putting up there you what you knew. So
- 11:50Speaker 2: so communication is a huge factor. Who your point person is,
- 11:53Speaker 2: who you're working with, how long the company's been in business,
- 11:56Speaker 2: what are their reviews like? And then at the end
- 11:59Speaker 2: of the day, are they showing you what they're doing,
- 12:02Speaker 2: what they're using, and how they're doing it, because if
- 12:05Speaker 2: they're not, there's no way to hold them accountable if
- 12:07Speaker 2: they're using Actually right, So, because I'm being Honest, I've
- 12:11Speaker 2: seen so many instances where homeowners had a SCUPE or
- 12:15Speaker 2: something and they they thought they were getting one thing
- 12:17Speaker 2: and they ended up getting something else, and that's that's
- 12:21Speaker 2: just not that's not what we're trying to do, and
- 12:23Speaker 2: that that gives other contractors a bad name.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Another really really nice thing that you guys do in
- 12:28Speaker 1: Larstorm Services is pictures of the progress, so when it's completed,
- 12:32Speaker 1: you can actually see what's under those shingles and see
- 12:34Speaker 1: that the work was done right. Great day to call
- 12:36Speaker 1: Larstorm Services if you have any questions at all, they'd
- 12:40Speaker 1: love to talk with you. All I got to do
