- 1:45meltdown presents and I'm like, hey it's a good idea.
- 1:47Maybe I should kind of make a video specifically on that.

- 2:07know what you think. It's because it really
- 2:09interesting question. I'd love to have that
- 2:11conversation with you. I read and respond to every
- 2:12single comment. So do that right now.
- 2:14Also on trying to get more friends on Twitter, and
- 2:16Instagram. So if you guys want to follow
- 2:18me, I usually follow people back.
- 2:19So if you go give me a cheeky follow keep up to date with
- 2:21everything. And I also upload videos on
- 2:23those platforms daily to. So yeah.
- 2:26My Instagram and all the stuff will be around here so much.
- 2:28So autism meltdown. For Aspergers meltdowns.
- 2:31Now, one aspect is meltdown, is basically something that happens
- 2:34when someone on the Spectrum who has a condition, like, autism
- 2:38has too much overloading stimuli.
- 2:40So this could come from things. Like being overly stimulated in
- 2:44a shopping. Mall overly stimulated in a high
- 2:47school overly stimulated at a dinner table.
- 2:50And what I mean by overly stimulated, I mean that there's
- 2:53there's a lot of sounds and noises and like smells and weird
- 2:56things happening as a lot of people in the room.
- 2:58There's like the whole It's just kind of like a bit of a treasure
- 3:02Trove of sensory. Stimuli now, people on the
- 3:05autism spectrum have issues with dealing with sensory input
- 3:09because autism is a communication disorder at its
- 3:12heart. So, because of the said stimuli
- 3:14in those situations, the person on the autism spectrum can have
- 3:19the ability to become overloaded.
- 3:21And this of what causes a meltdown, now, people might have
- 3:24heard of like an automatic down. What the hell does that mean?
- 3:27That means somebody physically melts like, It kind of means
- 3:32that their brain, the way that their mind is operating, at that
- 3:36time, has a kind of like a traffic jam or like a stall,
- 3:39like, your movement of thought, can I get jammed?
- 3:43And that jam can cause so much destruction in your life.
- 3:46You see when somebody has a meltdown their body and mind
- 3:50start to kind of just crumble a little bit, so that they become
- 3:55unable to use the functions, which will normally do in
- 3:57everyday life. Like, yeah, do you know, they'll
- 4:00We'll start to shake, and I'll breathe and control of the, and
- 4:02they might hit themselves in the head, and they might cry, and
- 4:04they might just be on the floor and unable to think, clearly and
- 4:08stuff. And this is not not good.
- 4:09This is something we try to avoid with autism spectrum,
- 4:11disorders, completely. So I'm going to give you five
- 4:13tips that I would like you guys to try and follow and use them
- 4:18to your advantage. Oh yeah, I'm inside my son's
- 4:20that canvas Wigwam. It's kind of cool.
- 4:22Check it out. So I just thought it'd be a cool
- 4:25place. Start this video.
- 4:28Okay. Well Okay, that didn't actually
- 4:31work as well as I hoped it was going to work.
- 4:32But anyway, let's get one of these five tips.
- 4:34Okay, so I have had my fair share of autism meltdowns.
- 4:38What? Usually happens.
- 4:39And let's put a scenario where I'm sitting in here in the
- 4:41living room and my sons having dinner.
- 4:43And he decided to he wants to throw his dinner everywhere.
- 4:45And in my partner's, kind of like me washing the dishes or
- 4:48she's like baking a cake. And I'm like, oh my God, it's a
- 4:50freaking out. Because then I've got, like,
- 4:52food all over me. And then I started getting hot
- 4:54and then he starts crying and my girlfriend starts panicking, and
- 4:57then I start panicking. And then, oh my goodness.
- 4:59This Meltdown is about to happen and then the Meltdown goes on,
- 5:02right? And it happens.
- 5:04So one of the things that I've learned to instantly help me.
- 5:08And this is tip. Number one, is instantly remove
- 5:11yourself like on what I mean by that is simply this, when that
- 5:14happens and I start feeling like I'm about to kind of, like,
- 5:17explode on meltdown. I kind of leave the room and I
- 5:20go upstairs to our bedroom and I sit on the bed in, complete
- 5:23silence. And yes, I still have the
- 5:26Meltdown but not Not every thing about it is overwhelming, as in
- 5:32like, I started the Meltdown, but it's easier to overcome.
- 5:34Like, if I was in that situation that was melting down that
- 5:37situation while smiling down would actually make the
- 5:38situation worse like anything. You know, we think about it.
- 5:41Like if you're if you're in Sinking sound and then you start
- 5:44like rustling around and you still on the sound, you're going
- 5:46to sink deeper and it's going to get worse.
- 5:47But if somebody pulls you out of that, you know, you can like
- 5:49Shuffle around and it's not going to get any worse.
- 5:52You're still going to be yet covered in sand.
- 5:53You're not going to get any more stuck in that situation.
- 5:55I guess a bad bad representation of what I'm trying to say.
- 5:58Yeah, but you get the idea. Instant removal equals instant
- 6:02therapeutic time and I know you might be saying like, well done,
- 6:06you know, just taking yourself outside of a situation isn't
- 6:08very therapeutic but it is because you're treating your
- 6:12body and mind with the respect that it need.
- 6:14And the instant difference that it needs because by staying in a
- 6:19situation where you've got like sensory stimuli or overloading
- 6:22overloading stuff, that's going to make you way more like
- 6:26agitated, you're going to need to try and You know, overcome
- 6:29those issues and if you're not going to an environment like
- 6:31that, so you need to get yourself to a clean cam
- 6:34environment now. It is it possible that, you
- 6:37know, you are going to be somewhere where you won't be
- 6:38able to get that kind of environment.
- 6:40But I highly advise that you try to eat like if you're in a
- 6:42restaurant for instance, and you started freaking out and you
- 6:44feel like, oh my goodness, I'm gonna have a meltdown, then I
- 6:46would go to the toilet in the restaurant.
- 6:49All that, you know, the use, the restrooms are go to like the
- 6:51lobby of the restaurant somewhere.
- 6:52That's quieter just catch yourself with just a moment
- 6:55because all you need is that bit to catch yourself?
- 6:58It's case I've grounded back to square one and start again
- 7:01because we're all adults and we try to kind of like do the best
- 7:06we can and we have loads of things to do.
- 7:07So we really need to get ourselves kind of like
- 7:09overcoming very, very quickly. But this also works for
- 7:11children. I'm not saying this is video
- 7:13Just For Adults. I'm saying that this would work
- 7:15for people who have children on the Spectrum who are also having
- 7:18meltdowns and you want to help them kind of overcome those
- 7:21issues again, get them to a place which is quiet and can.
- 7:25Okay guys, so, No idea why I'm driving on this pillow right
- 7:32now. It's funny, my view right now is
- 7:33actually very, very funny because I'm looking at my son's
- 7:36toy cars. Check it out.
- 7:37Look, we have like toy car, set-up just here.
- 7:41So, you guys in the privileged living room right now, need to
- 7:45film all my videos on here, but I started to not, I don't know
- 7:47why I just buried, okay, so, my next tip is very, very simple.
- 7:52When you deal with autism meltdowns, they happen because
- 7:55of certain reasons, but things can make them worse kind Like
- 7:58that game Buckaroo, you know what you like, pie loads of
- 8:01stuff onto like a horse and then like or camel or a donkey.
- 8:07Anyway, you pile this instances four-legged creature and it's
- 8:10like bags and stuff and at the end it just kicks in it all goes
- 8:12everywhere. It's called Buckaroo.
- 8:14Now the idea is in what I'm trying to say is that like the
- 8:17more things you have on the worse, you're going to feel and,
- 8:21you know, you're going to be closer to that Tipping Point of
- 8:23an Autism meltdown. Now, one of the ways to reduce
- 8:26this and this is like Mental blockage is likely, you know,
- 8:29mental health State, blockage and kind of like, freeing up
- 8:32some not space in your mind. It's to exercise.
- 8:34Now, I don't mean go and run a marathon or do like an Olympic
- 8:37sport. What I mean, it's just go out
- 8:39for a walk. Maybe take the dog for a walk,
- 8:42maybe do some swimming, maybe play a sport, if you're
- 8:45interested in playing sports, you know, give me football
- 8:47badminton of whatever like racquetball anything.
- 8:49You think of what I'm trying to say is just a grunt, get some
- 8:52air, get some oxygen moving around that body.
- 8:54And this always reduces Stress and Anxiety.
- 8:57Which means your You're less closer to having an Autism
- 9:02meltdown because you're less closer to that Tipping Point is
- 9:04what I'm trying to say. Yes, I know that awesome
- 9:06meltdowns are involuntary in, they're going to happen
- 9:07regardless, but if you can try and reduce your overstimulation
- 9:11because you might be feeling agitated about something that's
- 9:13going on in the background and then you go to another situation
- 9:16and that's an eye on you and then are you got, you know
- 9:18you've got your concoction to create an Autism explosive
- 9:22meltdown but if you've if you're not feeling agitated cause you
- 9:24went out and exercise and I kind of went away then you've just
- 9:26got a situation that you can deal with.
- 9:28At that moment in time, which is very, very handy.
- 9:31I actually do exercise a lot, I do a lot of running and I do
- 9:34some weight, a single lot more weights, but I don't do them as
- 9:36much now but I know I do it because I know how important
- 9:40working out is for people. And I know how important like
- 9:43exercises in general just to keep you kind of like your
- 9:46mental state in your mental capacity moving forward in a
- 9:49very good and awesome fashion. So that was tip number two.
- 9:53Get some exercise. Regardless how you do it to make
- 9:56sure you get out there, get some air.
- 9:57We also Am I sitting on? Okay, so my next advice for you
- 10:04guys to help with autism, meltdowns and ask big amount is
- 10:09very simply this. Try to get enough sleep.
- 10:12Like we all have issues with sleep.
- 10:14I am no stranger to issues with sleep.
- 10:16In fact, I've done a bunch of videos, actually, I'm a playlist
- 10:19all about autism, and sleep, and I'll try and leave that linked
- 10:21somewhere above here for you guys.
- 10:23You can go check out all the videos I've done and how to
- 10:24help, you know, sleeping for autism, but my advice is so So
- 10:28simple, find something that works.
- 10:30If it's drinking tea, taking, you know, supplements, if it's
- 10:33exercising. If it's using a weighted
- 10:34blanket. If it's listen to music,
- 10:35whatever it is, do your best to get enough sleep.
- 10:39Because when you sleep again, you take huge chunk of stress
- 10:43anxiety out the equation, which keeps you lower than expected to
- 10:47have not as a meltdown. For instance, when I don't get
- 10:49enough sleep, I know that I'm like, agitated and I'm groggy,
- 10:52and I'm kind of like a guy, you know, about to explode anytime.
- 10:55But when I get loads and loads of sleep, I'm able to be a
- 10:57little bit more. Um, and I know that like if
- 11:00something takes me off, then it's not going to take me over
- 11:02the edge because I'm well rested your mind.
- 11:04Need rest, your body needs rest and when you rest a both of
- 11:07these, you come a little bit more content in the surroundings
- 11:10that you're placed in. This is why I feel like a lot of
- 11:13autistic people are very agitated because we do have
- 11:15issues with sleeping. So aspect is meltdowns, can
- 11:19happen because of a lack of sleep, but not exclusively
- 11:23because of a lack of sleep. It's just that lack of sleep
- 11:24doesn't help when you're trying to reduce those things.
- 11:28Is happening. So just like think about it.
- 11:30When was the last time I mean logically.
- 11:32What was the last time you had hardly any sleep and you felt
- 11:35awesome like never okay, you know you do need sleep like have
- 11:38you ever done a thing where you stay up all night and you might
- 11:41sleep for one hour and then you feel like total rubbish.
- 11:44That feeling is not a good feeling and that's not going to
- 11:49make anybody feeling any more secure in their surroundings or
- 11:53securing a situation that might be heightened or stressful.
- 11:55So it's important. We get enough sleep.
- 11:57I'm actually In my room right now, and it's so important that
- 12:01you make your bedroom a calming area as well, because
- 12:05overstimulation to like pictures on the walls and like loads of
- 12:08things going on and lights everywhere and stuff can keep
- 12:11you awake at night. That's why vacuum is very, very
- 12:13calming. As you can see, it's super
- 12:15monotonal, it's super coming and it should Ted relaxing.
- 12:18That's not something that like, you can have things in your room
- 12:21saying that they just think about it.
- 12:23You know, you want to have things a bit more calm and be
- 12:25more sleep to reduce that stress.
- 12:27All right? Cancel the next tip guys.
- 12:29If you think that this video can help somebody, please please
- 12:33share it on Facebook, and Twitter, and Instagram.
- 12:35And anyway, you feel. It could help somebody and also
- 12:38tag me in it because I love to communicate with you guys on
- 12:41other social media platforms. So yeah, please share this video
- 12:43because it can help somebody else and let me know and I'll
- 12:45talk to you then. Okay.
- 12:46So this tip for Aspergers, meltdowns is an amazing one,
- 12:49that helps you recover quickly after actually having a
- 12:52meltdown. So we've been through stuff or
- 12:54how to help prevent meltdowns, what to do during meltdown, but
- 12:56what do you do after you have Like, how do you recover from
- 13:00such an event? Because it's not going to be
- 13:03good. You know, you got to think about
- 13:04it, a big, big ordeal melt don't like that.
- 13:07Can leave someone feeling exhausted, sleepy, thirsty,
- 13:11hungry. I just like counting dwarfs you.
- 13:14But, you know, at the idea is that like they, they will feel
- 13:20somewhat of a compromised situation after having some kind
- 13:23of autism meltdown. And, and that's not good.
- 13:25So, this is tip. Number 4, If this tip is simply
- 13:30this, after having a lot has a meltdown, as soon as you catch
- 13:33yourself as soon as you can of like, okay, come around a little
- 13:36bit. Do the thing that you love doing
- 13:38the most, if it's playing like Minecraft pop G kind of World of
- 13:41Warcraft, whatever it is that you want to play go and do that
- 13:43game or like, watch a documentary or go to your
- 13:45favorite restaurant or like make your favorite meal.
- 13:47Your favorite snack do those things?
- 13:49Because what will happen is that your body will start kind of
- 13:52like feeling itself against that feeling, it's normalization,
- 13:56because it's kind of like, - experience can only be offset by
- 14:01voluntary positive experience. So, when you have an involuntary
- 14:04negative experience like not in a meltdown then put in a
- 14:07positive 1 that you can control, it's all about making.
- 14:11You better making, you feel more comfortable and coming around to
- 14:16the realization that like, you know, you can deal with this
- 14:19because you can deal with this. I know that you can deal with
- 14:21this. I have confidence in you.
- 14:23Okay it's not the end of the world.
- 14:24It may feel like it at the time and it may definitely stress you
- 14:27out and calls. All kinds of horrible stuff but
- 14:29it's okay because I got you back dance here for you.
- 14:32And if you are enjoying this view guys please give it a huge
- 14:34thumbs up. I really want to hit like four
- 14:36hundred likes on this video or a.
- 14:37Actually if you can get like 450 likes on this video it would
- 14:41just be amazing. Would be the most amazing thing
- 14:43ever. So thank you so much and it
- 14:45would be amazing if you could just give this video a thumbs
- 14:47up. So that being said, doing a
- 14:50favorite thing, like one of the things I love to do as I love to
- 14:52research like aliens and stuff. So if I've had like a meltdown,
- 14:55what I do is I like going like research Straight after work is,
- 14:59I don't want to think about the Meltdown.
- 15:01I think what something fun, and something I'm interested in.
- 15:03I mean, it's just like, it's like having, like, it's like,
- 15:06having something to smelling really bad.
- 15:08Like a garbage can like a rubbish, you know, garbage van
- 15:11in your living room. And I'm pushing that out and
- 15:13bringing in something that smells super nice, like, air,
- 15:15freshener something, awesome, like a bowl of fruit, that
- 15:17that's the difference. That's what you're doing.
- 15:18You're pushing out the rubbish and pulling in something.
- 15:20Awesome. So remember to do that, I know I
- 15:22keep disappearing and reappearing in different places
- 15:24in my house. It's because like, I'm just, I'm
- 15:27just cool like that. I just want to make you guys
- 15:29happy, you know, it seemed like different places in my house.
- 15:31So cool. Is this.
- 15:32This is the other side of our room.
- 15:33This is like a curved wall here. We actually live in like a
- 15:37unusual house is kind of triangular shape, but the
- 15:39upstairs, our bedroom is like this circular thing.
- 15:42We'd has a balcony side is super cool.
- 15:43Anyway, on to tip number five, this is tip number five, okay,
- 15:49Channel five's very, very simple as well but a lot of people
- 15:52don't do it. Tip number five is called
- 15:54breathing. Okay?
- 15:56Anything and and you know, you covered breathing loves times
- 15:57but As we forget breathing, if you feel like you're having a
- 16:02lot of the Meltdown or about to having a meltdown and if it's
- 16:05after a meltdown, this will always work breathing.
- 16:09No, breathing comes from different techniques.
- 16:11We breathe subconsciously anyway because it's the, you know, the
- 16:13main way that we get oxygen into our body to stay alive and we
- 16:16all need it like aerobic respiration.
- 16:18But in terms of how it can help heighten your mood and make you
- 16:22feel more comfortable and less kind of triggered is very very
- 16:25simple. See the yoga teachers the The
- 16:28Yogi's and the Buddhist always do this kind of breathing
- 16:30technique, where you breathe in, and count to five.
- 16:33So, you breathing, like, 12345, hold your breath for five, and
- 16:37then breathe out 45, and you do that five times.
- 16:40And what this does is it pushes oxygen around your body and
- 16:42instantly calms your brain. Calms your mind.
- 16:45This is an amazing technique. I challenge you pause this video
- 16:48right now and do it right now. On a bet, you'll feel calm.
- 16:51Okay. Welcome back to the video and I
- 16:52bet you feel calm if anyone's just done this and you feel calm
- 16:55right down below. So down I feel super calm.
- 16:57That was a great Tip, that was awesome because I want to know.
- 17:00I want to know how it works. If it didn't, let me know as
- 17:02well because I'm interested to know why it didn't, but
- 17:04breathing is fantastic. It's one of the one of the main
- 17:07ways you can come with us. Now, one of the main ways, it
- 17:09you can feel more like you straight after having something
- 17:12crazy happen, like a horrible negative event or something
- 17:14where you are feeling down or anxious or having an Autism
- 17:19meltdown. Honestly, this is an amazing
- 17:22tip, but I don't want to pass it on to you but that's not it.
- 17:26Guys will not stop in there. I have a bonus tip for you and
- 17:30it's very, very simple. Okay, this is a weird angle but
- 17:32we're going to go for it anyway. So my tip sort of like cushions
- 17:36was a okay. My last tip for you guys for
