- 0:21SPEAKER_04: I'll be here all week.
- 0:22SPEAKER_04: We're going to still be a waitress.
- 0:24SPEAKER_07: You know, we've grown musically.
- 0:25SPEAKER_07: I mean you listen to some of the rubbish we did early on.
- 0:28SPEAKER_07: Stupid.
- 0:29SPEAKER_07: You know, now with I mean a song like Sex Palm, we're taking a sophisticated view of the idea of sex, you know, and musically.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Hey, it's cousin Larry.com.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: Larry.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Hello guys.
- 1:00SPEAKER_05: To the O'Brien and Doug podcast.
- 1:01SPEAKER_05: I'm O'Brien.
- 1:02SPEAKER_05: I'm Doug.
- 1:03SPEAKER_05: Hello.
- 1:04SPEAKER_05: Hello.
- 1:04SPEAKER_05: Hola.
- 1:05SPEAKER_05: I'm a little less sickly the last time you talked to me.
- 1:07SPEAKER_05: What's that?
- 1:08SPEAKER_05: I'm a little less sickly the last time you talked to me.
- 1:11SPEAKER_05: Less sickly is good.
- 1:12SPEAKER_05: Yes, it is.
- 1:13SPEAKER_05: I would had uh whatever this thing that is going around, I had it all weekend.
- 1:19SPEAKER_05: It was rough.
- 1:20SPEAKER_05: Actually, it wasn't fun, but I just laid in bed and watched TV and read.
- 1:25SPEAKER_05: Oh boy, that's rough, man.
- 1:27SPEAKER_05: So that's uh doggone it.
- 1:29SPEAKER_05: That's you know, every once in a while you need a you need a little breather.
- 1:31SPEAKER_04: Well, that's that's just yeah, that's just you know, your body's way of telling you to take a break.
- 1:35SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I I agree.
- 1:37SPEAKER_05: I agree, but there is a lot of stuff going around.
- 1:39SPEAKER_05: So even my my uh my neighbor, um we went to do his um roof yesterday, and you know my neighbor, Bill.
- 1:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:50SPEAKER_05: He is always puttering, always doing something.
- 1:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:54SPEAKER_05: And if he's not doing something for his place, he's doing something for you know somebody else like he's snowblowing our driveway or something.
- 2:01SPEAKER_05: He's got this nice new tractor that he likes to use.
- 2:04SPEAKER_05: He's eighty one, eighty-two.
- 2:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was about to say he's my dad's age, and dad's the exact same way.
- 2:09SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:10SPEAKER_04: Just he has to be doing something.
- 2:12SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 2:12SPEAKER_05: So we went over there uh because he, you know, he's he's got bad shoulders.
- 2:17SPEAKER_05: Uh he has had shoulder surgeries and he had uh hip replaced and all this other stuff.
- 2:23SPEAKER_05: Anyway, so we were going over to do his uh roof, and we noticed that uh both of his vehicles were there, his tractor was in the garage, and he had not snowblowed.
- 2:34SPEAKER_05: Now we just got dumped on.
- 2:35SPEAKER_05: I mean, this was a big storm, and Bill would have been the first out there doing, you know, getting rid of snow.
- 2:42SPEAKER_05: So uh and my wife tried to call him and he didn't didn't answer.
- 2:46SPEAKER_05: So we were a little worried.
- 2:48SPEAKER_05: Anyway, they went up and started doing his roof, and uh I checked in with his daughter, and he uh uh apparently uh got some stomach bug and was staying close to the bathroom.
- 3:03SPEAKER_05: So loved her.
- 3:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I didn't have that.
- 3:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah, uh, I just had what my wife had last week, which actually what my wife still is hanging on to, sort of, and I'm gonna say she sounds okay.
- 3:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, she's she's okay as far as that's concerned, but she's just really tired all the time.
- 3:17SPEAKER_03: No, well, I totally get that.
- 3:18SPEAKER_05: She's convinced it's COVID.
- 3:20SPEAKER_05: I mean, who knows?
- 3:22SPEAKER_05: Who knows?
- 3:22SPEAKER_05: Um, but we're uh we're we're on the mend, and but we had to cancel a show.
- 3:28SPEAKER_05: We don't like doing that.
- 3:30SPEAKER_04: No, but it it actually worked out well because the roads were terrible anyway.
- 3:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so that would have sucked coming up, and it probably it probably I don't know if that much how many people were out there.
- 3:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I don't either because I mean school was canceled that day because of the wind.
- 3:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because it snowed Thursday and then it was just windy all day Friday.
- 3:47SPEAKER_04: Which causes a lot of drifts and um and of course it snowed again Sunday into Monday, and yeah, yesterday was just wind.
- 3:56SPEAKER_04: I had the worst time getting to work today.
- 3:58SPEAKER_05: Today?
- 3:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, because I had to work at Easton.
- 4:00SPEAKER_04: So I was when it closed or something.
- 4:03SPEAKER_04: Well, it wasn't closed at that point, right?
- 4:05SPEAKER_04: But when I got to the Hearsham Road, you know where the Hursom Road is.
- 4:08SPEAKER_04: I do.
- 4:09SPEAKER_04: I got there, and I could see there was like a couple cars in front of me with their hazards on.
- 4:14SPEAKER_04: I was like, okay, it was all slowed down.
- 4:17SPEAKER_04: Well, there was a tow truck pulling another tow truck out of the snowbank.
- 4:23SPEAKER_04: Off in the dist, and there was some kid with a plow truck, like a like a regular plow truck, trying to plow out this drift that was that was right there.
- 4:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:33SPEAKER_04: And then in the distance, you know, that little hill, I could see a semi just sitting there with its with its hazards on.
- 4:41SPEAKER_04: I was like, oh, this ain't good.
- 4:43SPEAKER_04: So I sat there for a few minutes and I was like, this, I'm not going anywhere.
- 4:46SPEAKER_04: I'm not gonna get through here.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:47SPEAKER_04: So I backtracked down to the White Road where the legacy ranch is.
- 4:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:52SPEAKER_05: Cut across.
- 4:54SPEAKER_05: You can do that.
- 4:54SPEAKER_04: What?
- 4:55SPEAKER_04: The White Road connects across it cut it connects across to the Westridge Road.
- 4:58SPEAKER_04: I did not know.
- 4:59SPEAKER_04: And then I went up the restwards road, went up the Brangwell Road, and then I got to work.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 5:03SPEAKER_04: And I was like 20 minutes late, but you know, nobody was there except for the uh the the the other guy.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:09SPEAKER_04: And so uh it actually but it was it was some of those I was coming when I was coming up through, some of those drifts were like up to my window.
- 5:16SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 5:17SPEAKER_04: I mean they were big.
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: And then when I was coming up here tonight, I went up the Prescow, I went up Prescow Way, yeah.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: And the top of that hill by the four corners, yeah, yeah.
- 5:29SPEAKER_04: Those drifts were probably ten feet.
- 5:31SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 5:31SPEAKER_04: Ten feet high.
- 5:32SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 5:32SPEAKER_05: I'm not surprised.
- 5:33SPEAKER_05: I'm not surprised.
- 5:34SPEAKER_04: And it was cutting off the whole passing line.
- 5:36SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: So it was down to basically just a lot of yeah, yeah.
- 5:40SPEAKER_04: But is but other than that, it wasn't bad.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: Just it was really just that spot.
- 5:43SPEAKER_04: Everywhere else was fine.
- 5:44SPEAKER_05: It's funny, you know, because driving in in those kinds of conditions um was Finn had to drive today for his for his license.
- 5:54SPEAKER_05: He took his test today?
- 5:54SPEAKER_05: No, no, he didn't take his test.
- 5:56SPEAKER_05: He but he he he goes driving with the instructor.
- 5:58SPEAKER_05: Oh, so he uh so I have to drive him over to caribou.
- 6:02SPEAKER_05: So we took because I'd heard in the past couple days that the caribou road had been closed down a c a time or two because of drifts and because of the city.
- 6:10SPEAKER_05: Oh, probably terrible.
- 6:12SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 6:12SPEAKER_05: So I didn't want to take that way.
- 6:13SPEAKER_05: So I went the the back caribou road, um, and there I mean it was better.
- 6:19SPEAKER_05: There were a lot of drift drifts.
- 6:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 6:21SPEAKER_05: And so he my my 15-year-old was asking me, so you know, what do you what do you do?
- 6:28SPEAKER_05: I mean, how how do you drive through these?
- 6:31SPEAKER_05: Do you just drive around them?
- 6:32SPEAKER_05: I said, Well, yeah, pretty much.
- 6:34SPEAKER_05: I said, if you you're obviously you're driving slower than you normally would, you know, because you know, it's dangerous to go through them really fast.
- 6:43SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 6:43SPEAKER_05: And uh I said, if there's nobody coming, you know, in the opposite lane, yeah, try and go around them.
- 6:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 6:50SPEAKER_05: You know, but if you have people coming, I said, you know, slow down and just kind of I mean it depends wh where the drifts are, but let them go by and then you go around and you know, it's just like it's kind of common sense.
- 7:06SPEAKER_05: And he says, Oh, alright.
- 7:08SPEAKER_05: And uh so I get to the the high school where the the driving instructor's gonna meet us, and he comes up to my window and he goes, How are the roads coming over?
- 7:18SPEAKER_05: I said, Well, we took the back road.
- 7:20SPEAKER_05: He said, Well, it wasn't too bad.
- 7:21SPEAKER_05: I said, It wasn't too bad.
- 7:22SPEAKER_05: There were a few drifts.
- 7:23SPEAKER_05: I said, It's funny because uh Finn was asking me, you know, how uh how do you drive through those?
- 7:30SPEAKER_05: And without a step, he he went, just barrel through them.
- 7:36SPEAKER_05: That's my kind of instructions.
- 7:37SPEAKER_02: Just drive right through them, bah, bah.
- 7:40SPEAKER_05: And I'm thinking, did I tell my kid wrong?
- 7:42SPEAKER_05: And I said, Well, yeah, of course, you're not gonna go extra slow through them.
- 7:46SPEAKER_05: Well, if you do it, you're gonna get stuck.
- 7:48SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 7:48SPEAKER_05: So yeah.
- 7:50SPEAKER_05: But you know, you can't go like lightning fast through them because it's gonna pull your vehicle.
- 7:56SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 7:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know?
- 7:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you gotta you gotta kinda You can't go slow, but you can't Right.
- 8:01SPEAKER_05: You can't go super fast.
- 8:03SPEAKER_05: I said you can't really stop either because that's dangerous too, you know.
- 8:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:06SPEAKER_05: So but I felt like an idiot.
- 8:08SPEAKER_05: I was like, did I tell him wrong?
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: Of course, uh, I mean, if the drift is higher than your hood, go around it.
- 8:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:15SPEAKER_04: If it's just like a you know, inches, of course, yeah, you can throw it, man.
- 8:19SPEAKER_05: But you know, whatever.
- 8:19SPEAKER_05: Anyway, I just thought it was it was funny.
- 8:21SPEAKER_04: I left there going, Did I really know how to drive?
- 8:23SPEAKER_04: I'm not really sure.
- 8:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, maybe I should take my driver's test again.
- 8:26SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 8:27SPEAKER_05: What am I what am I doing?
- 8:30SPEAKER_05: So uh so that's what happened today.
- 8:33SPEAKER_05: Um it's it's funny because I'm already starting to lose my voice sort of a little bit, but that's good.
- 8:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 8:39SPEAKER_05: Well, that was fun.
- 8:40SPEAKER_05: Our next is that 10 minutes?
- 8:41SPEAKER_05: When is our next gig again?
- 8:42SPEAKER_05: Next gig's not for a couple weeks, right?
- 8:44SPEAKER_05: Is it this weekend?
- 8:45SPEAKER_05: No, it's no, it's next weekend.
- 8:47SPEAKER_05: I think.
- 8:48SPEAKER_05: No, we don't.
- 8:48SPEAKER_05: Oh, hold on.
- 8:49SPEAKER_05: Hold on.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: I don't think we have anything until March.
- 8:52SPEAKER_04: Well, isn't the following weekend March?
- 8:54SPEAKER_04: Oh, no, it's not.
- 8:55SPEAKER_04: No.
- 8:55unknown: Never mind.
- 8:56SPEAKER_04: Well not this coming Saturday.
- 8:59SPEAKER_04: It's close, it's close.
- 9:00SPEAKER_04: It's gonna be March 1st.
- 9:02SPEAKER_05: Uh you're right.
- 9:03SPEAKER_05: We don't have anything until wait.
- 9:09SPEAKER_05: Until C uh CPAC.
- 9:11SPEAKER_04: 16th, right?
- 9:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:13SPEAKER_04: That's what I thought.
- 9:14SPEAKER_04: I didn't think that was till our next gig.
- 9:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I guess I didn't realize that.
- 9:18SPEAKER_05: I should change that.
- 9:18SPEAKER_05: I still have that on the 15th.
- 9:20SPEAKER_04: You should change it because it's not.
- 9:22SPEAKER_05: It's not.
- 9:22SPEAKER_05: It's the 16th now.
- 9:24SPEAKER_05: What time?
- 9:24SPEAKER_05: It was two o'clock?
- 9:25SPEAKER_05: Two o'clock.
- 9:27SPEAKER_05: Two o'clock.
- 9:28SPEAKER_05: Two o'clock.
- 9:28SPEAKER_05: Two o'clock.
- 9:30SPEAKER_05: Uh let me do that before I forget.
- 9:32SPEAKER_05: Awesome.
- 9:34SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 9:35SPEAKER_05: Um.
- 9:37SPEAKER_05: So yeah, I don't have to sing anytime soon.
- 9:39SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's good.
- 9:40SPEAKER_05: Give you time.
- 9:41SPEAKER_05: Lots of recovery time.
- 9:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's always good.
- 9:43SPEAKER_04: Um I was listening to uh Carrie uh dude from The Princess Bride.
- 9:50SPEAKER_05: Elise.
- 9:51SPEAKER_05: Elise.
- 9:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:52SPEAKER_04: He re you know, he wrote a book about the making of the movie.
- 9:54SPEAKER_05: I think I read that somewhere here.
- 9:56SPEAKER_04: As you wish?
- 9:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:56SPEAKER_04: So I got it on Audible.
- 9:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 9:58SPEAKER_04: And I'm I'm I just started listening to it on the way up here.
- 10:01SPEAKER_04: It's gonna be great.
- 10:02SPEAKER_04: I I have a feeling this is I love the movie.
- 10:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:05SPEAKER_04: And I have the feeling that the book is just gonna be equally as good.
- 10:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 10:08SPEAKER_04: Because he actually has like Rob Reiner, Billy Crystal, Mandy Petinkin.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: I know I don't think Mandy Petinkin's in it.
- 10:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 10:17SPEAKER_04: But uh he's got a bunch of people doing like parts of the book.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: Oh, really?
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: He's reading the book, but he's got other people coming in and doing parts of it.
- 10:25SPEAKER_04: That's cool.
- 10:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so it's gonna it's gonna be great.
- 10:27SPEAKER_04: I I'm really excited about this book.
- 10:29SPEAKER_05: Did you ever see that story that Mandy about Mandy Patinkin in in uh well it's an Instagram post actually?
- 10:36SPEAKER_05: It was on Mandy Potinkin's Instagram page.
- 10:39SPEAKER_05: And excuse me.
- 10:42SPEAKER_05: You know, Mandy Patinkin is is uh for all intents and purposes uh an elderly person now.
- 10:49SPEAKER_05: I think he's like Yeah, he's up there, man.
- 10:51SPEAKER_05: I don't think he's eighty yet, but he could be.
- 10:52SPEAKER_04: He's probably in his seven, he's easily in his seventies.
- 10:55SPEAKER_05: Um but you know, he and his wife um they know how to use technology, but they're like everybody else that age.
- 11:00SPEAKER_05: They're like, you know, they have somebody do it for them.
- 11:03SPEAKER_05: Sure.
- 11:03SPEAKER_05: So anyway, this this person who must run their social media stuff uh was showing them this young woman who had a question for Mandy Petinkin.
- 11:16SPEAKER_05: And it was really touching.
- 11:18SPEAKER_05: It's this woman, I think she's in Canada, and she said something about I want to know if the story is true.
- 11:26SPEAKER_05: Um because I recently lost my dad uh to cancer.
- 11:32SPEAKER_05: And I want to know if the story is true that uh if you find this on Instagram, it's much more you know, I'm just kind of kind of t relaying it to you, but it's it's very touching.
- 11:43SPEAKER_05: Um that when you were doing the sword fight and uh if you could have one thing uh the the I guess the king says, if you could have uh one thing or whatever, and he said uh uh I w I want my father back.
- 12:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you know that line.
- 12:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 12:07SPEAKER_05: Well he wanted my father back, you son of a bitch.
- 12:11SPEAKER_05: Manny Butinkin had just lost his father.
- 12:14SPEAKER_05: And so he was thinking that when he said that line.
- 12:18SPEAKER_05: And so it made that all the more powerful.
- 12:20SPEAKER_05: And of course, this had been this woman's and her father's favorite movie, and they used to watch it together and stuff like that.
- 12:26SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 12:27SPEAKER_05: So he was so she was all s all obviously very emotional, and and so Manny Batinkin, when he was telling the story that it is true, you know, that he was thinking of his father, uh, he got emotional too, and it was just it's one of those, you know, cool clips on Instagram where every you know a lot of the other stuff you see on on social media is just dumb dumb and a waste of time and dumb.
- 12:53SPEAKER_05: That was pretty cool.
- 12:54SPEAKER_05: That was pretty cool to see.
- 12:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:56SPEAKER_05: So if you ever uh on Instagram and you want a heartfelt story, go look for Mandy Patinkin.
- 13:03SPEAKER_04: Apparently it's his thing that if anybody ever asks him to do the whole indigo Montoya thing, he does it, he does it for him.
- 13:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he doesn't care.
- 13:11SPEAKER_04: He'll do it.
- 13:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 13:13SPEAKER_04: So I guess that I guess that's the legend.
- 13:15SPEAKER_05: So yeah, well, I'm not surprised.
- 13:17SPEAKER_05: Oh no, I mean that was a you know, it's a cult, a cult classic, that one, Princess Bride.
- 13:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean he uh so far he's been talking about how nobody wanted to touch that book because they said it was impossible to make it into a movie, and then all of a sudden here comes Rob Reiner.
- 13:33SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 13:33SPEAKER_04: You know, fresh off the success of uh this is Spinal Tap.
- 13:37SPEAKER_05: Oh speaking of that.
- 13:38SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, that's coming too.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: I know, I've really expected that would be awesome.
- 13:42SPEAKER_05: I didn't mean to interrupt, but this is spinal tap too.
- 13:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 13:45SPEAKER_04: But yeah, you know, you they were all everybody was like, oh no, you can never do this movie.
- 13:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:50SPEAKER_04: And here comes Rob Reiner, and now it's like and he's uh he's already said it in his introduction, he was like, Yeah, the movie when it came out, nobody really paid any attention to it.
- 14:00SPEAKER_04: Only made like$35 million.
- 14:02SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 14:03SPEAKER_04: Only.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:04SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, back in 1987.
- 14:06SPEAKER_04: True.
- 14:06SPEAKER_04: So it was like$60 million today.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_04: But uh he was like, but once VA VHS started coming out, people started buying it, and that's what it kind of like had this resurgence, and then it just like it's my oldest uh daughter.
- 14:20SPEAKER_05: Uh it's her favorite movie.
- 14:22SPEAKER_04: Oh, I believe it, man.
- 14:23SPEAKER_05: I love that movie.
- 14:23SPEAKER_05: She she actually got a like a like a keepsake book about the Princess Bride.
- 14:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 14:29SPEAKER_05: Uh for Christmas one year or for her birthday or something like that.
- 14:33SPEAKER_04: It's an amazing movie.
- 14:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 14:34SPEAKER_04: Amazing.
- 14:35SPEAKER_05: Uh speaking of amazing, we've got Well, thank you.
- 14:39SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, I try my best.
- 14:41SPEAKER_05: We got the um um well, I shouldn't say all of them are are amazing, but the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Boo has you right, has uh announced this year's crop of uh inductees.
- 14:53SPEAKER_05: Um of them have been nominated before, which baffles me.
- 14:59SPEAKER_05: Um that the ones that have been nominated before, um not that they've been nominated again, but they were nominated before before some of these other new nominees.
- 15:13SPEAKER_05: Like, for example, so nominated before and nominated again this year, uh Cindy Lauper, Joy Division New Order, uh White Stripes, Soundgarden has been nominated twice.
- 15:26SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 15:27SPEAKER_05: Uh this is their third time being nominated.
- 15:30SPEAKER_05: Um they all got nominated before Chubby Checker.
- 15:35SPEAKER_05: Chubby Checker still is not in?
- 15:37SPEAKER_05: He's he's he's not in.
- 15:38SPEAKER_05: He's nominated this year.
- 15:39SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 15:40SPEAKER_04: Well, at least he got nominated on it.
- 15:41SPEAKER_05: Um so Bad Company is going in.
- 15:49SPEAKER_05: They all got nominated before bad company.
- 15:52SPEAKER_05: I don't understand what took so long for Bad Company.
- 15:57SPEAKER_05: Hard telling, man.
- 15:59SPEAKER_05: You know, Bad Company was around longer than Rush.
- 16:05SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 16:06SPEAKER_05: Not very much longer, but they started in like 73.
- 16:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they were they were getting going.
- 16:12SPEAKER_05: Right around the same time.
- 16:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right around the same time.
- 16:14SPEAKER_05: And Rush, of course, Rush it took forever to get into.
- 16:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:19SPEAKER_05: But they finally did.
- 16:20SPEAKER_05: But so I don't know what the problem was with bad company, but they they deserve to be in a long time ago.
- 16:25SPEAKER_05: Black Crows, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, um, Mexican pop stars, pop rockers, mana.
- 16:35SPEAKER_05: Never heard of him.
- 16:36SPEAKER_05: Never heard of them.
- 16:38SPEAKER_05: This one I don't agree with.
- 16:40SPEAKER_05: Outcast.
- 16:43SPEAKER_05: Outcast had that song, hey ya.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: Hey, yeah.
- 16:47SPEAKER_05: No.
- 16:48SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah, that's the one.
- 16:50SPEAKER_05: Is it?
- 16:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: Hey yeah.
- 16:56SPEAKER_05: I guess I haven't listened to the whole song.
- 16:58SPEAKER_05: Uh that's the only Outcast song I know.
- 17:02SPEAKER_05: Not that I mean, Outcast probably has a lot of fans and they know all their music, but Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
- 17:09SPEAKER_04: Well, how many rap people have been going in, you know, Eminem and pop stars are going in.
- 17:17unknown: Yeah.
- 17:17SPEAKER_04: I think this goes back to our whole thing about it.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: Should not be the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
- 17:21SPEAKER_04: But Fish is going in.
- 17:26SPEAKER_04: Isn't The Grateful Dead in?
- 17:28SPEAKER_05: I think so.
- 17:29SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I think so.
- 17:31SPEAKER_05: Um I agree with a lot of them.
- 17:35SPEAKER_05: Uh Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Chubby Checker, they should go in.
- 17:40SPEAKER_05: Sure.
- 17:40SPEAKER_05: Soundgarden probably should go in.
- 17:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 17:43SPEAKER_05: Um I'd even put Cindy Lopper in.
- 17:47SPEAKER_05: Oasis?
- 17:49unknown: I don't know.
- 17:50SPEAKER_04: I don't know about that one.
- 17:51SPEAKER_05: Mariah Carey.
- 17:53SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 17:54SPEAKER_04: I mean, she's gonna go in, obviously, but I really could care less.
- 17:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:01SPEAKER_05: We we talk about this every year, but I'm just glad Bad Company is going in.
- 18:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 18:07SPEAKER_05: That really is.
- 18:08SPEAKER_05: I mean, Joe Cocker should be in, and I'm I'm glad to see him going in.
- 18:12SPEAKER_05: But out of out of all of the other nominees, Bad Company's the only one I care about.
- 18:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 18:16SPEAKER_05: It really is.
- 18:18SPEAKER_05: Um I agree.
- 18:19SPEAKER_05: And I'm glad that they're doing it.
- 18:22SPEAKER_05: Um Boz Burrell has passed away.
- 18:24SPEAKER_05: Boz was the bass player.
- 18:26SPEAKER_05: Um, but Mick Ralphs, the guitar player, uh, who wrote a lot of their big hits, uh had a stroke a number of years ago.
- 18:38SPEAKER_05: So he's still alive, but he's he's not in a great shape.
- 18:43SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 18:44SPEAKER_05: But at least they did it before he passed.
- 18:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 18:46SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 18:47SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 18:48SPEAKER_05: So I don't know if that's why why they did it, but I'm glad they did it.
- 18:55SPEAKER_05: And I hope he gets to be there.
- 18:57SPEAKER_05: He probably won't.
- 18:58SPEAKER_04: He might.
- 18:59SPEAKER_04: But never know.
- 19:01SPEAKER_04: We'll see.
- 19:01SPEAKER_04: Never know.
- 19:02SPEAKER_05: No.
- 19:04SPEAKER_05: So, uh, and speaking of other uh for lack of a better term, laid up rock stars.
- 19:10SPEAKER_05: Uh Ozzie is getting back with Sabbath in July.
- 19:13SPEAKER_05: And they're doing a uh you heard about this, right?
- 19:18SPEAKER_05: Um Ozzie was never happy with the way Sabbath supposedly ended.
- 19:25SPEAKER_05: So they're doing this big festival type thing.
- 19:30SPEAKER_05: Tom Morello is the musical director.
- 19:33SPEAKER_05: Um Sabbath is gonna play all the all the original members.
- 19:38SPEAKER_05: Ozzie's going to, according to this, bits play bits and pieces with Sabbath at the final show.
- 19:45SPEAKER_05: So we probably won't be doing a set.
- 19:47SPEAKER_05: He won't be doing a whole song, maybe.
- 19:49SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 19:50SPEAKER_04: No, it doesn't sound like it.
- 19:51SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 19:52SPEAKER_05: Because he's got a lot of health issues.
- 19:53SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah.
- 19:54SPEAKER_05: He's probably will be in a wheelchair.
- 19:56SPEAKER_05: Probably will be sitting most of the time.
- 19:59SPEAKER_04: And nobody will care.
- 20:00SPEAKER_04: Nobody will care.
- 20:01SPEAKER_04: No.
- 20:02SPEAKER_05: Um, but they've added Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, uh, Hailstorm, Alice and Chains, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon, Guns N' Roses.
- 20:15SPEAKER_04: Man, I feel bad for Charlie Benante.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: He's the drummer for Pantera and Anthrax.
- 20:21SPEAKER_04: Imagine me.
- 20:21SPEAKER_04: Dude, that dude's gonna be tired.
- 20:23SPEAKER_04: Guns and Roses, Tool.
- 20:26SPEAKER_04: Oh, dude.
- 20:27SPEAKER_04: They're coming out with a new album.
- 20:28SPEAKER_04: Are they?
- 20:29SPEAKER_04: They're gonna work on it this spring.
- 20:32SPEAKER_05: So they'll probably play some of it in July.
- 20:34SPEAKER_04: No, they're not they're not even started.
- 20:35SPEAKER_04: They're working on they may, I doubt it, but they might, you know.
- 20:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:39SPEAKER_04: Because Tool is very complicated.
- 20:40SPEAKER_04: But get well, well, get this.
- 20:42SPEAKER_04: So As like Mike Portnoy likes to say, it's not a song, it's a mathematical equation.
- 20:47SPEAKER_04: That's probably true.
- 20:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:48SPEAKER_05: So um how, well, like logistically, think about this for a second.
- 20:54SPEAKER_05: You know how big a band Guns N' Roses is.
- 20:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:58SPEAKER_05: And Metallica.
- 21:01SPEAKER_04: Gee, what happened the last time they were on tour?
- 21:03SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 21:05SPEAKER_05: Uh Tool.
- 21:07SPEAKER_05: Pretty sure Montreal was on fire.
- 21:09SPEAKER_05: Right?
- 21:11SPEAKER_05: But I mean like logistically, like are they gonna play like all those bands, are they gonna play like two songs?
- 21:20SPEAKER_05: Is it gonna be a multi-day festival?
- 21:23SPEAKER_04: Oh, I'm sure it's gonna be a couple days.
- 21:24SPEAKER_05: You think so?
- 21:25SPEAKER_05: It has to be.
- 21:26SPEAKER_05: Well.
- 21:26SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 21:27SPEAKER_04: And and I don't know that there's any uh And it's not to say that they'll all those bands will p you know play at this maybe maybe wherever they go, maybe these bands will play.
- 21:37SPEAKER_04: They go to another play, these bands will be there, you know, that kind of thing.
- 21:40SPEAKER_04: Like a regional thing?
- 21:41SPEAKER_05: Maybe.
- 21:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:43SPEAKER_05: So I don't know.
- 21:44SPEAKER_04: Because it seemed i that's that seems like a logistical nightmare.
- 21:49SPEAKER_04: Me, I th I thought so too.
- 21:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 21:51SPEAKER_04: Because But it sounds like it might be a regional thing.
- 21:54SPEAKER_04: You know, if we're playing in Boston, then you know, these bands will play.
- 21:58SPEAKER_04: And if we play in
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: Well, this is all in England.
- 22:01SPEAKER_05: They're only doing a s uh a thing.
- 22:02SPEAKER_05: Oh, they're only doing it in England?
- 22:04SPEAKER_04: Oh no, so this is this is gonna be a logistical nightmare.
- 22:06SPEAKER_05: It's gonna be at Wembley, I believe.
- 22:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, is it?
- 22:08SPEAKER_04: Oh well they're they're fine then.
- 22:09SPEAKER_04: I'm pretty sure you can fit like eighty five thousand people in that thing.
- 22:12SPEAKER_05: I'm pretty sure it's gonna be within Birmingham.
- 22:14SPEAKER_05: Uh is that where Wembley is?
- 22:16SPEAKER_05: No, Wembley's in London.
- 22:19SPEAKER_04: I know.
- 22:20SPEAKER_05: I've never been there.
- 22:22SPEAKER_05: I don't know! Uh July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham, England.
- 22:26SPEAKER_04: Oh we're playing that day, so I can't we can't go.
- 22:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:32SPEAKER_05: We are playing that day, actually.
- 22:34SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 22:37SPEAKER_05: Um But yeah, I th I thought that logistically that'll just be a nightmare.
- 22:42SPEAKER_05: It'll be a great show, probably.
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: Well, it'll probably be like any like any other rock fest, you know.
- 22:46SPEAKER_04: They're just you know, they just have it'll be like a multi maybe it'd be like a two-day thing or you know.
- 22:54SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 22:55SPEAKER_05: But it's I mean, I I guess it's good to put a cap on it, you know, for Ozzy.
- 22:59SPEAKER_05: Especially Bill Ward.
- 23:01SPEAKER_05: Because Bill Ward had nothing to do with the last one.
- 23:03SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 23:04SPEAKER_05: You know, so it it'll be nice to see him get some recognition as well, and kind of tie up those those ends.
- 23:11SPEAKER_05: Uh other uh aging rock stars.
- 23:14SPEAKER_05: Brian Setzer can't play guitar anymore.
- 23:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I read that.
- 23:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he's got some uh autoimmune uh disease that affects his hands, and he says I can if nothing hurts, but it's like playing with gloves on.
- 23:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah, so he can't do it.
- 23:29SPEAKER_05: So uh but he's he's trying to stay positive and he's going to therapy and and hopefully he'll get it back.
- 23:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 23:37SPEAKER_05: So that's that's good.
- 23:39SPEAKER_05: Because the Brian Sensor, man.
- 23:41SPEAKER_05: Holy cow.
- 23:41SPEAKER_05: Well, he's a very underrated guitar person.
- 23:43SPEAKER_05: Underrated is right.
- 23:45SPEAKER_05: Underrated is right.
- 23:47SPEAKER_05: Um I'm excited about uh this uh other tour.
- 23:52SPEAKER_05: Rick Springfield is taking uh some people out on tour this summer.
- 23:58SPEAKER_05: Um I don't know, like an I want my 80s tour.
- 24:03SPEAKER_05: So who do you think would go out on tour with Rick Springfield to make it a make it a um uh I don't know, inviting uh type of bill?
- 24:13SPEAKER_04: I have no idea.
- 24:14SPEAKER_05: You don't know who you would like a little surprise.
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 24:22SPEAKER_05: It's not a surprise, I guess.
- 24:24SPEAKER_05: Well, he is taking out uh two other acts and then on some b some other b uh uh bills he's having a f uh third act, and then he's rotating a third act.
- 24:38SPEAKER_05: Okay, so so Rick Springfield's going out on tour with uh with US Cellular.
- 24:46SPEAKER_05: With US Cellular.
- 24:47SPEAKER_05: No, I'm just kidding.
- 24:48SPEAKER_04: Oh I didn't even know they were a band.
- 24:54SPEAKER_04: John Waite.
- 24:55SPEAKER_04: John Waite.
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: I never would have guessed that.
- 24:58SPEAKER_04: No?
- 24:58SPEAKER_04: No.
- 24:59SPEAKER_05: I gotta imagine Rick Springfield will do like an hour or two, hour and a half.
- 25:06SPEAKER_05: John Waite will do like half an hour, maybe.
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: Probably 45 minutes to an hour, but I think of you.
- 25:13SPEAKER_04: Well, obviously Rick's the headliner, so he's gonna have the lion's share of the time, so well, so so John, so it's three well, yeah, Rick is the headliner.
- 25:24SPEAKER_05: But then you got John Waite and the other kind of big name is this one.
- 25:35SPEAKER_03: A blank wall?
- 25:36SPEAKER_05: No.
- 25:37SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 25:38SPEAKER_04: Of course not.
- 25:40SPEAKER_04: Wang Chung.
- 25:41SPEAKER_04: Wang Chung.
- 25:44SPEAKER_04: I didn't even know they were still around.
- 25:46SPEAKER_05: Yep, they are.
- 25:47SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 25:49SPEAKER_05: So you got those are the three bands the three that they're gonna be at every show.
- 25:54SPEAKER_05: Rick, Wang Chung, and John Wade.
- 25:56SPEAKER_05: John Wade.
- 25:56SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 25:57SPEAKER_05: So I gotta think.
- 25:58SPEAKER_05: And so, and there's two other bands with two other acts that they're rotating.
- 26:03SPEAKER_05: So there'll be four acts.
- 26:05SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 26:06SPEAKER_05: So I gotta think Rick does an hour.
- 26:09SPEAKER_05: Nah, he's doing at least two.
- 26:12SPEAKER_05: At least an hour and a half.
- 26:13SPEAKER_05: You can't have if it's a concert.
- 26:17SPEAKER_05: Aren't concerts only like two to three hours?
- 26:23SPEAKER_05: I gotta think that it's Rick Athens Springfield who'll do whatever he wants.
- 26:28SPEAKER_05: I gotta think that Rick does an hour.
- 26:30SPEAKER_05: Wang Chung does a half an hour.
- 26:33SPEAKER_04: Nah, you gotta give him one.
- 26:34SPEAKER_05: John Wait does a half an hour.
- 26:37SPEAKER_05: And then they give the the other act a half an hour.
- 26:41SPEAKER_05: So it's two and a half hours.
- 26:43SPEAKER_05: You don't think?
- 26:45SPEAKER_05: Seems really short.
- 26:46SPEAKER_05: What if they all did 45 minutes?
- 26:48SPEAKER_04: I would.
- 26:49SPEAKER_04: If I was if I was John Wait and Wang Chung, if I was playing half hour, I'd be insulted.
- 26:57SPEAKER_04: I think I mean they're granted, they're not as big as Rick.
- 27:01SPEAKER_05: I think John Wait and Wang Chung are happy to get a half hour in.
- 27:05SPEAKER_04: Well, I'm sure, but they gotta have at least 45.
- 27:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I would think.
- 27:10SPEAKER_05: I would think.
- 27:11SPEAKER_05: Here are the other two.
- 27:12SPEAKER_04: That would be that would be four, that would be an hour and a half, then Rick goes on for an hour and a half.
- 27:16SPEAKER_04: There's your three hours.
- 27:19SPEAKER_05: Here are the other two.
- 27:21SPEAKER_05: Don't I'm out of here.
- 27:24SPEAKER_05: Here are the is one of the other ones.
- 27:28SPEAKER_05: Paul uh Young?
- 27:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:31SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 27:33SPEAKER_04: So so what is so what is this tour called?
- 27:36SPEAKER_04: You know, Rick Springfield and some other guys?
- 27:39SPEAKER_04: It is.
- 27:40SPEAKER_04: Hold on.
- 27:42SPEAKER_04: It is called Rick Springfield and Losers from the 80s.
- 27:46SPEAKER_05: I want my 80s tour.
- 27:50SPEAKER_05: And they're getting more 80s than these guys.
- 27:54SPEAKER_05: They are coming to let's see, the closest place to us.
- 28:02SPEAKER_04: Boston or Springfield or uh Manchester.
- 28:06SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah, Manchester.
- 28:08SPEAKER_05: Actually, there's nothing in Massachusetts.
- 28:14SPEAKER_05: Bridgeport, Connecticut.
- 28:16SPEAKER_05: That's the closest?
- 28:17SPEAKER_05: Bridgeport, Connecticut?
- 28:18SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 28:19SPEAKER_05: Jeez.
- 28:20SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 28:23SPEAKER_05: I don't know a lot of other songs that Paul Young has done.
- 28:25SPEAKER_05: That's the only one I know.
- 28:27SPEAKER_05: Maybe his will be 15 minutes.
- 28:30SPEAKER_04: He's gonna open up with this song.
- 28:31SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 28:32SPEAKER_04: And then he's gone.
- 28:34SPEAKER_05: So the other act that Paul Young will be rotating with, and I say that meaning that Paul Young's gonna be on some dates.
- 28:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 28:42SPEAKER_05: And then this other act is gonna be on some dates.
- 28:47SPEAKER_05: And it's this one.
- 28:53SPEAKER_04: John Cafferty.
- 28:54SPEAKER_04: John Cafferty?
- 28:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:58SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: I hate to say it.
- 29:04SPEAKER_04: Okay, I'm I'm gonna say it.
- 29:06SPEAKER_04: I know everybody's thinking this, but I'm gonna actually say it.
- 29:10SPEAKER_04: This is not a good tour.
- 29:15SPEAKER_04: Just this is this is the uh uh this is the Timu of Tor.
- 29:27SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 29:30SPEAKER_04: Seriously.
- 29:32SPEAKER_04: You got Rick Springfield and some other guys.
- 29:35SPEAKER_04: That's that's basically your tour.
- 29:38SPEAKER_04: This is awful.
- 29:39SPEAKER_04: You think so?
- 29:40SPEAKER_04: It's awful.
- 29:41SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 29:42SPEAKER_05: So if you had Because these are all basically one-hit wonders.
- 29:46SPEAKER_05: Except for Rick Springfield.
- 29:47SPEAKER_05: Except for Rick Springfield.
- 29:50SPEAKER_04: They had a few, yeah, but other than that, I mean John Wade had a few.
- 29:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:55SPEAKER_04: I mean, unless he's gonna do some bad English songs.
- 29:57SPEAKER_04: Bad English for the babies.
- 29:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:58SPEAKER_04: Um probably will.
- 30:00SPEAKER_04: But Paul Young and these guys?
- 30:04unknown: Yeah.
- 30:04SPEAKER_04: Other than this song and that up.
- 30:06SPEAKER_05: Oh no, are you no.
- 30:08SPEAKER_05: Hold on.
- 30:09SPEAKER_05: John Cafferty, let's see.
- 30:11SPEAKER_05: John Cafferty had more than uh Well, he probably did.
- 30:16SPEAKER_04: I I don't remember him.
- 30:17SPEAKER_05: Um Well, he had like two movie soundtracks.
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: From the moment it leaves.
- 30:23SPEAKER_05: It was uh Yeah, but this is a tour, this isn't a movie.
- 30:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah, but he's known for these these movie soundtracks.
- 30:30SPEAKER_05: Running through the fire.
- 30:32SPEAKER_05: You ever heard this?
- 30:33SPEAKER_05: Nope.
- 30:33SPEAKER_05: No?
- 30:34SPEAKER_05: Uh Otender Years.
- 30:36SPEAKER_05: Do you remember that song?
- 30:37SPEAKER_05: Nope.
- 30:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you do because we we uh they played it uh when we opened for um when we opened for Oh the band at the Boston.
- 30:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah, at the high school.
- 30:52SPEAKER_05: It was uh Eddie, no.
- 30:54SPEAKER_04: Uh it was uh Frank, what was their names?
- 30:58SPEAKER_05: I don't remember.
- 30:59SPEAKER_05: They were a great band.
- 31:01SPEAKER_05: Speaking of the teamwork of doors.
- 31:04SPEAKER_05: Anyway, um the uh saxophone player in that band.
- 31:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he we he played with John Cafferty, yeah.
- 31:11SPEAKER_04: Right, yeah.
- 31:12SPEAKER_05: Eddie and the cruisers.
- 31:12SPEAKER_04: Eddie no, what was what did all the automatics?
- 31:15SPEAKER_04: Eddie and the Authority.
- 31:17SPEAKER_05: Ernie and the Automatics.
- 31:17SPEAKER_05: Ernie and the Automatics, yes.
- 31:19SPEAKER_04: That was awful.
- 31:19SPEAKER_05: So the Sax player was on Eddie and the Cruisers in the movies.
- 31:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 31:22SPEAKER_05: And oh Tender Years, they played Tender Years.
- 31:24SPEAKER_05: And they played on the dark side.
- 31:26SPEAKER_05: Anyway.
- 31:26SPEAKER_04: Well, I knew that, but I I don't remember Tender Years.
- 31:30SPEAKER_04: I don't remember.
- 31:30SPEAKER_04: Oh, tender years.
- 31:34SPEAKER_04: But I don't remember it being on the radio or anything.
- 31:36SPEAKER_05: Uh you know what?
- 31:37SPEAKER_05: You're probably right.
- 31:39SPEAKER_05: It probably wasn't on the radio.
- 31:41SPEAKER_05: Um and as far as maybe they were a one-hit wonder on the dark side.
- 31:49SPEAKER_05: It was the only song on the radio.
- 31:51SPEAKER_04: That's what I'm saying.
- 31:52SPEAKER_04: You got Paul Young and Eddie uh and John John Witt.
- 31:57SPEAKER_04: John Wa no, uh John Wright and the and these guys.
- 32:00SPEAKER_04: John Cafferty.
- 32:00SPEAKER_04: John Cafferty.
- 32:01unknown: Yeah.
- 32:05unknown: Right.
- 32:06SPEAKER_04: You see what he do you see the problem?
- 32:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:09SPEAKER_04: I mean, yeah, everybody it's basically just it's just like an ego trip for Rick Springfield.
- 32:15SPEAKER_05: That's what I was saying.
- 32:16SPEAKER_05: So I'd say Rick Springfield does like an hour, hour and a half.
- 32:19SPEAKER_05: Everybody else plays a half an hour.
- 32:20SPEAKER_04: Well, everybody else is gonna be like out in the parking lot.
- 32:23SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 32:24SPEAKER_04: You know, busking.
- 32:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:26SPEAKER_04: Basically.
- 32:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:27SPEAKER_04: You know?
- 32:28SPEAKER_04: Well, that because so that brings up.
- 32:29SPEAKER_05: Aren't you guys on tour, Rick?
- 32:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we have to play in the parking lot.
- 32:32SPEAKER_05: That brings up another question.
- 32:33SPEAKER_05: Can I have a dollar?
- 32:34SPEAKER_05: Okay, so that brings up another question.
- 32:37SPEAKER_05: Um, because I almost I kind of asked you at the beginning, I said, Rick Springfield's taking an 80s tour out.
- 32:42SPEAKER_05: Who would you put with him?
- 32:44SPEAKER_05: And you're like, I have no idea.
- 32:45SPEAKER_05: So if you Well, there's so many from the 80s, though.
- 32:48SPEAKER_05: Here's the thing.
- 32:49SPEAKER_05: So if you okay, for forget Rick Springfield.
- 32:52SPEAKER_05: Let's say we're putting together and I want my 80s tour.
- 32:57SPEAKER_05: Okay?
- 32:58SPEAKER_05: And not like 80s rock, like Bon Jovi.
- 33:02SPEAKER_05: Well, there's like 80s stuff.
- 33:03SPEAKER_05: Just 80s music.
- 33:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 33:04SPEAKER_05: I want my 80s tour.
- 33:06SPEAKER_05: What four acts would you put on there that would be worth going to see?
- 33:12SPEAKER_05: That would be worth going to see?
- 33:13SPEAKER_05: That that you would want to go see.
- 33:23SPEAKER_05: You can't think of any 80s accent right now, can you?
- 33:25SPEAKER_05: Because when I put you on the spot like that, I have the same problem.
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: Well, but you're you're just saying 80s music.
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: I would I would want to see like Van Halen.
- 33:33SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 33:33SPEAKER_04: You know, stuff I was listening to in the 80s.
- 33:36SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 33:36SPEAKER_04: Van Halen.
- 33:38SPEAKER_04: Metallica.
- 33:39unknown: Right.
- 33:39SPEAKER_05: Well, I said, yeah, I said not rock.
- 33:41SPEAKER_05: This is pop, basically.
- 33:43SPEAKER_04: I I there I don't know if there's anybody popish that I would pay money to go see.
- 33:48SPEAKER_05: Would you go see Tears for Fears?
- 33:50SPEAKER_04: Okay, maybe those guys.
- 33:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 33:51SPEAKER_04: I would probably go see those guys.
- 33:52SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 33:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 33:52SPEAKER_05: Tears for Fears.
- 33:53SPEAKER_05: Tears for Fears.
- 33:54SPEAKER_05: Who would you put with Tears for Fears?
- 33:55SPEAKER_04: Oh, you know, Dire Straits would be great.
- 33:58SPEAKER_05: That would be a nice trick.
- 33:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I don't know that they would.
- 34:01SPEAKER_04: I know, but I mean you'd be right.
- 34:03SPEAKER_04: But this is like this is our dream.
- 34:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:07SPEAKER_05: Tears for Fears.
- 34:08SPEAKER_05: Dire Straits.
- 34:09SPEAKER_05: Um Howard Jones?
- 34:15SPEAKER_05: Would you go see Howard Jones?
- 34:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I wouldn't go see Jones.
- 34:16SPEAKER_05: You would go see Howard Jones?
- 34:18SPEAKER_05: I mean, he was great.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: I mean, he had some great songs, but I wouldn't go see him.
- 34:24SPEAKER_05: I can't even think of it.
- 34:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 34:27SPEAKER_04: I mean, I I mean, you know, anybody that's worth their salt is still playing.
- 34:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:32SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 34:33SPEAKER_05: Well, the funny thing is, you said Wang Chunk's still around.
- 34:36SPEAKER_05: They're still they've still been playing.
- 34:38SPEAKER_05: They've been playing.
- 34:38SPEAKER_05: We just don't hear.
- 34:39SPEAKER_04: Oh, I'm sure, yeah, but you I I I thought they were all like killed in a car crash or something.
- 34:43SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 34:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but they're still making it.
- 34:45SPEAKER_04: Sucked into a you know a sinkhole.
- 34:46SPEAKER_04: They're still making music.
- 34:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I would never know.
- 34:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 34:50SPEAKER_04: I never know.
- 34:52SPEAKER_04: You don't hear about them.
- 34:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:55SPEAKER_04: We're too busy hearing about Kendrick Lamar.
- 34:57SPEAKER_04: Who cares about Kendrick Lamar?
- 34:59unknown: Yeah.
- 35:00SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 35:00SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 35:01SPEAKER_04: That's what I'm saying.
- 35:02SPEAKER_04: That's the problem with the 80s.
- 35:04SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 35:04SPEAKER_04: You know, now that MTV is basically dead, these guys don't exist anymore.
- 35:11SPEAKER_04: Except in, you know, in Gen X playlists.
- 35:16SPEAKER_05: Uh you just took me off on a different direction.
- 35:19SPEAKER_05: That's what I do.
- 35:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I know.
- 35:21SPEAKER_05: Um Doug in the different direction.
- 35:23SPEAKER_05: So I have Roku TV.
- 35:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:25SPEAKER_05: And on my Roku, I have Pluto TV.
- 35:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:28SPEAKER_04: I love Pluto.
- 35:29SPEAKER_05: It's great.
- 35:30SPEAKER_04: So has those video channels?
- 35:31SPEAKER_04: Yes, that's so great, man.
- 35:33SPEAKER_05: I recently discovered them.
- 35:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 35:35SPEAKER_05: So I went to like um, I don't know what was it like uh it was like an 80s channel, but it was like rock.
- 35:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you got like rock, pop, yeah.
- 35:43SPEAKER_04: They're they're showing videos I've never seen before.
- 35:45SPEAKER_05: I know of songs that I know.
- 35:47SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 35:47SPEAKER_05: But like from the back in the day.
- 35:49SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 35:49SPEAKER_05: But I'd never seen the video.
- 35:50SPEAKER_05: Like that's great.
- 35:52SPEAKER_04: It's what MTV was supposed to be.
- 35:54SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 35:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
- 35:56SPEAKER_05: I'm watching it, and my daughter comes in.
- 35:58SPEAKER_05: She's like, what is what is that?
- 36:01SPEAKER_05: So it's a music video.
- 36:04SPEAKER_04: He looks weird.
- 36:06SPEAKER_04: Welcome to the 80s, kid.
- 36:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:10SPEAKER_05: Everything was big hair and neon.
- 36:12SPEAKER_05: So anyway, I I was watching that the other day and I was like, I saw I saw a video for Play the Game Tonight by Kansas.
- 36:19SPEAKER_05: I don't know if you know that song.
- 36:21SPEAKER_05: Play the game tonight.
- 36:23SPEAKER_05: It's a terrible video, but I'd never seen it before.
- 36:27SPEAKER_05: Uh there was another one.
- 36:29SPEAKER_05: Oh, Rosanna from Toto came on.
- 36:30SPEAKER_05: Oh, that's a great thing.
- 36:31SPEAKER_04: Wow, I haven't seen that forever.
- 36:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:33SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah, but it was it was just really cool.
- 36:36SPEAKER_05: They have a country one too.
- 36:37SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, they get an RB, they got 90s RB.
- 36:40SPEAKER_04: Dude, when you watch the 90s RB, I feel like I'm I'm s at an e-club somewhere trying to pick up on Navy chicks.
- 36:52SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 36:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 36:53SPEAKER_05: No, I don't know what you mean, but yeah.
- 36:54SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 36:55SPEAKER_04: I get you.
- 36:55SPEAKER_04: You know, that that's what it takes me back to.
- 36:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:58SPEAKER_04: Because that's all they were playing in in the clubs.
- 37:00SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 37:00SPEAKER_04: You know, back when I was in going to clubs.
- 37:03SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 37:03SPEAKER_04: You'd pick it up on Navy and Air Force chicks.
- 37:05SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 37:06SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 37:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I no, but yes.
- 37:09SPEAKER_04: And I'm gonna say this now.
- 37:11SPEAKER_04: Air Force chick, Air Force chicks were always the hottest.
- 37:14SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 37:15SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, dude.
- 37:16SPEAKER_02: Ah, yeah.
- 37:17SPEAKER_02: Interesting.
- 37:18SPEAKER_04: I met this girl named Rhonda.
- 37:20SPEAKER_04: What was her last name?
- 37:22SPEAKER_04: Doesn't matter.
- 37:25SPEAKER_04: Like, from Oklahoma, and she was a redhead.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:28SPEAKER_04: It was like the accent and the red hair, I was just like, you are like some sort of like Air Force goddess.
- 37:36SPEAKER_04: Amazing.
- 37:37SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 37:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 37:38SPEAKER_05: I wonder where she's now.
- 37:40SPEAKER_05: No idea.
- 37:42SPEAKER_05: Um yeah.
- 37:45SPEAKER_05: I would go see that, uh I would go see that show, actually.
- 37:48SPEAKER_04: I would like to just see Rick Springfield.
- 37:50SPEAKER_04: I don't care about those other guys, honestly.
- 37:52SPEAKER_04: I mean, they had some good songs, but I would just like to go see see Rick Springfield.
- 37:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 37:56SPEAKER_05: I suppose.
- 37:57SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 37:58SPEAKER_05: I suppose.
- 37:59SPEAKER_04: I just I just feel bad for us, though.
- 38:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 38:02SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 38:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I do.
- 38:04SPEAKER_04: Oh, I tell you.
- 38:06SPEAKER_04: That's just gonna be a crazy tour.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 38:08SPEAKER_04: It really is gonna be crazy.
- 38:09SPEAKER_05: That's a long one too, it's it looks like.
- 38:11SPEAKER_05: There's a lot of dates on it.
- 38:12SPEAKER_05: So it'd be interesting to see.
- 38:14SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 38:15SPEAKER_05: That's one thing I like about this time of year is you get all these um tours announced.
- 38:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 38:21SPEAKER_05: You know, so you know who's playing playing where for the summer.
- 38:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 38:24SPEAKER_05: You know.
- 38:25SPEAKER_05: Um so that'll be kind of cool.
- 38:26SPEAKER_05: I don't think we don't have a whole lot of great acts coming to Bangor this year yet.
- 38:32SPEAKER_05: Chicago.
- 38:33SPEAKER_05: Well, Chicago.
- 38:33SPEAKER_05: There was another one, Bonnie Rate.
- 38:35SPEAKER_05: Bonnie Rate.
- 38:36SPEAKER_05: Uh Jerry Seinfeld.
- 38:37SPEAKER_04: Jerry Seinfeld, uh I don't know that I'd go see Jerry Seinfeld.
- 38:41SPEAKER_04: I would just say I saw Jerry Seinfeld.
- 38:44SPEAKER_04: I always liked a stand-up.
- 38:45SPEAKER_04: Oh, so I like the show.
- 38:46SPEAKER_05: Me too, me too, me too.
- 38:47SPEAKER_05: But uh you know, I don't know that I would pay to go see a stand-up.
- 38:52SPEAKER_05: Like a like a big game like that.
- 38:54SPEAKER_05: I'd go to a club.
- 38:56SPEAKER_05: You know, but I don't know that I'd pay big money to go to an arena and watch a stand-up.
- 39:04SPEAKER_05: Unless it would have to be the right stand-up, I guess.
- 39:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I mean I mean Jim Gavgan's been in Bangor before.
- 39:10SPEAKER_04: I mean, yeah, I I'd go see him.
- 39:12SPEAKER_05: Exactly.
- 39:13SPEAKER_05: I might go see him.
- 39:13SPEAKER_04: You know, we've seen we've seen Bob Marley up here a bunch of times.
- 39:18SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 39:18SPEAKER_04: So, you know, stuff like that.
- 39:21SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 39:21SPEAKER_05: But we haven't w we haven't seen Bob Marley in an arena like that.
- 39:25SPEAKER_04: Well, he was he was at the forum.
- 39:26SPEAKER_04: I mean, come on.
- 39:27SPEAKER_04: Bob Marley was?
- 39:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:29SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 39:29SPEAKER_04: Well, I saw him at a club.

- 39:38SPEAKER_04: So Uncle Bob.
- 39:40SPEAKER_04: It's all good.
- 39:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:41SPEAKER_04: It's all good.
- 39:42SPEAKER_04: It's all good, man.
- 39:43SPEAKER_04: Oh, is it time already?
- 39:45SPEAKER_04: Time for what?
- 39:46SPEAKER_04: What are you talking about?
- 39:47SPEAKER_04: Well, you're playing the music.
- 39:48SPEAKER_04: What music?
- 39:49SPEAKER_04: The music.
- 39:52SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm talking about.
- 39:55SPEAKER_04: But we gotta wait for this super long intro.
- 39:58SPEAKER_05: Sorry.
- 39:59SPEAKER_05: I didn't have the uh in the other video.
- 40:02SPEAKER_05: I can get see the tracking, you know, and know where to you know this one doesn't have that.
- 40:08SPEAKER_05: I don't know why.
- 40:09SPEAKER_05: Well, because it's stupid.
- 40:29SPEAKER_05: It is time for mixtape.
- 40:31SPEAKER_05: Alright, so let's do the past.
- 40:36SPEAKER_05: We obviously heard from our Of course we have.
- 40:40SPEAKER_04: She's always on top of that.
- 40:41SPEAKER_04: Am I ever gonna get to know who she is?
- 40:44SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 40:45SPEAKER_04: I I I I keep asking her.
- 40:48SPEAKER_04: And she's like, not yet.
- 40:49SPEAKER_04: This is fun.
- 40:50SPEAKER_05: She doesn't know me, right?
- 40:52SPEAKER_05: She knows of you.
- 40:53SPEAKER_05: Right, but I mean, like, you don't know her person.
- 40:56SPEAKER_05: I don't know her personally.
- 40:57SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 40:57SPEAKER_04: I'm the only one in the in the podcast.
- 41:01SPEAKER_04: Try to think if it would make a difference.
- 41:03SPEAKER_05: I like I mean, I like that I don't know her.
- 41:06SPEAKER_05: But I like her.
- 41:08SPEAKER_04: Apart from the I'm sure you'll get to meet her at some point.
- 41:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:12SPEAKER_04: Uh you know, just right now, it's really fun that you don't know her.
- 41:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:18SPEAKER_04: Exactly, yeah, for sure.
- 41:20SPEAKER_04: So.
- 41:21SPEAKER_04: Okay, so last the the question is what song does the Academy Awards.
- 41:26SPEAKER_05: No, wait.
- 41:27SPEAKER_05: No, no, we're doing last.
- 41:28SPEAKER_05: The past.
- 41:29SPEAKER_04: What was the past?
- 41:31SPEAKER_05: It was uh uh makeout song.
- 41:33SPEAKER_05: Makeout song, yeah.
- 41:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 41:35SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I freaking chose Eddie G.
- 41:38SPEAKER_05: I'm guaranteeing you she did not pick.
- 41:42SPEAKER_05: I think she probably picked uh uh cousin Larry's.
- 41:45SPEAKER_05: I can't remember even what it was, but I knew it was.
- 41:48SPEAKER_05: Oh you would like to think that.
- 41:50SPEAKER_05: Did she pick yours?
- 41:52unknown: Oh yeah.
- 41:52SPEAKER_05: Did she?
- 41:57SPEAKER_04: Okay, so they were all great pricks this week.
- 42:01SPEAKER_04: I had to go.
- 42:03SPEAKER_04: You said pricks.
- 42:05SPEAKER_04: Did I?
- 42:06SPEAKER_05: They were all great pricks.
- 42:06SPEAKER_05: Yes, they were.
- 42:07SPEAKER_04: Well, we are.
- 42:09SPEAKER_04: They were all great picks this week.
- 42:10SPEAKER_04: I had to go with sentimental mood.
- 42:12unknown: Oh.
- 42:13SPEAKER_04: All the songs are perfect for a lifetime makeout song.
- 42:15SPEAKER_04: I feel like jazz is perfect for a lifetime.
- 42:18SPEAKER_04: She's not wrong.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 42:19SPEAKER_04: Then she would have said yes, jazz is up there with classical music.
- 42:22SPEAKER_04: It ages like fine wine and never grows old.
- 42:25SPEAKER_04: She's absolutely right.
- 42:27SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 42:27SPEAKER_04: So she chose mine.
- 42:32SPEAKER_04: I don't like to be biased, but that was an excellent choice.
- 42:35SPEAKER_04: Okay, so now we're on to present.
- 42:38SPEAKER_04: So the present question is what song does the Academy Awards montage your life to?
- 42:44SPEAKER_05: Alright, what I I and I because I have one.
- 42:47SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 42:48SPEAKER_05: What what happens if we both pick the same song?
- 42:52SPEAKER_04: Well, that happened with me and Cousin Larry.
- 42:53SPEAKER_04: We both picked the same one.
- 42:54SPEAKER_04: So I had I I gave him the song and I chose a different one.
- 42:58SPEAKER_05: Okay, but what if like, because you and I don't know.
- 43:01SPEAKER_04: You're not gonna choose my song.
- 43:03SPEAKER_04: I'm not worried about it.
- 43:04SPEAKER_05: Okay, but what if it happens?
- 43:06SPEAKER_05: Do one of us will have to flip a coin.
- 43:08SPEAKER_04: One of us, yeah, we'll have to one of us will have to switch.
- 43:10SPEAKER_05: Alright.
- 43:11SPEAKER_05: All right, so let's.
- 43:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it happened with me and cousin Larry because we both chose the same song.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 43:16SPEAKER_04: So I changed, he I let him have it, and uh, you know, because he he technically he went first.
- 43:21SPEAKER_04: I always ask him first.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 43:23SPEAKER_04: So Okay, so this is what Cousin Larry said.
- 43:28SPEAKER_04: I thought about My Way, clearly an obvious pick.
- 43:31SPEAKER_04: Life as a Highway by Tom Crocran would be would be a good one.
- 43:36SPEAKER_04: Also thought of a couple of country tunes, Don't Blink by Kenny Chesney, and Living on Love by Alan Jackson.
- 43:42SPEAKER_04: But I keep coming back to the same song.
- 43:43SPEAKER_04: I have to go with In My Life by the Beatles.
- 43:46SPEAKER_04: Is that the one you chose?
- 43:47SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, see.
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: All three of us chose the same song.
- 43:50SPEAKER_04: Did you choose it?
- 43:51SPEAKER_04: I chose that's the one I chose too.
- 43:53SPEAKER_04: And I had so I deferred to him.
- 43:56SPEAKER_04: All right, well, that means you and I have to put our thinking caps on.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: Well I've already come up with my alternative.
- 44:01SPEAKER_04: See, I have not.
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:02SPEAKER_05: Hold on a second.
- 44:03SPEAKER_04: Well, you get time.
- 44:04SPEAKER_04: Uh I have asked my wife to play that song at my celebration of life when I'm no longer here.
- 44:09SPEAKER_04: And I said, Oh, dude, that was my choice.
- 44:11SPEAKER_04: I'll defer to the awesomeness that is cousin Larry.
- 44:15SPEAKER_05: So Uh, where is it here?
- 44:18SPEAKER_05: Hold on.
- 44:19SPEAKER_05: Do I even have it on on uh in my iTunes?
- 44:25SPEAKER_05: I might not have it in my iTunes.
- 44:26SPEAKER_05: How do I not have it in my iTunes?
- 44:28SPEAKER_05: What album's it on?
- 44:29SPEAKER_05: Oh, it's right there.
- 44:30SPEAKER_05: Never mind.
- 44:30SPEAKER_05: Sorry.
- 44:31SPEAKER_04: Yes, this was my choice.
- 44:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was my choice too.
- 44:34SPEAKER_04: All three of us chose the same song.
- 44:36SPEAKER_04: How awesome is that, though?
- 44:39SPEAKER_04: That just shows you how awesome this song is.
- 44:41SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 44:42SPEAKER_04: That we all three of us thought of the same one.
- 44:46SPEAKER_05: That's it popped out.
- 44:48SPEAKER_05: And that's what I did too.
- 44:55SPEAKER_05: But this is now Larry's.
- 44:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 45:07SPEAKER_09: Alright, I have a second choice.
- 45:11SPEAKER_05: It's kind of a lame second choice, but I have a second choice.
- 45:15SPEAKER_04: All our other choices are gonna be lame compared to this one.
- 45:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you can't beat this one.
- 45:22SPEAKER_04: Just type.
- 45:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 45:24SPEAKER_04: I agree.
- 45:25SPEAKER_04: Just yeah.
- 45:26SPEAKER_04: This is the ultimate montage.
- 45:28SPEAKER_04: I agree.
- 45:28SPEAKER_04: Totally.
- 45:29SPEAKER_04: If they were ever gonna do a song for my montage, this is the one.
- 45:33SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 45:34SPEAKER_05: Yep, absolutely.
- 45:35SPEAKER_05: And I agree.
- 45:36SPEAKER_05: And I think because we all picked it, if if our illustrious uh judge doesn't pick it, that's gonna be weird.
- 45:49SPEAKER_05: It's gonna be weird.
- 45:50SPEAKER_05: Wait, do we we can go on?
- 45:52SPEAKER_04: Big tape's over at that point.
- 45:56SPEAKER_04: New game!
- 45:58SPEAKER_05: Alright, so what what do you got then?
- 46:00SPEAKER_05: If you so that was a good one.
- 46:02SPEAKER_04: This was of course my first choice.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: But then I went with I had I had to really do some like serious thinking.
- 46:08SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 46:08SPEAKER_04: And so I went with Working Them Angels by Rush.
- 46:11SPEAKER_05: Oh, that was a good song.
- 46:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 46:14SPEAKER_04: So that was that was my second choice.
- 46:16SPEAKER_05: So I don't want the live one.
- 46:33SPEAKER_04: We'll get there.
- 46:35SPEAKER_04: Stop playing the stupid commercial.
- 46:38SPEAKER_04: Stupid YouTube commercial.
- 46:42SPEAKER_15: The McDonald's one way do the bigger than the two.
- 47:47SPEAKER_04: No, I know.
- 47:48SPEAKER_04: I mean, like I said, all other songs are compared to that.
- 47:52SPEAKER_04: You know, are gonna, you know.
- 47:54SPEAKER_05: They will pale.
- 47:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:55SPEAKER_05: So okay, so my choice, if I can have the Beatles, cousin Larry.
- 48:02SPEAKER_04: He already feels bad enough, so don't worry about that.
- 48:05SPEAKER_05: Um, so, and the reason that I I picked this is because of what what Larry just said in his answer.
- 48:16SPEAKER_05: Because it just popped in my head.
- 48:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 48:18SPEAKER_05: Because I never had a second choice.
- 48:19SPEAKER_05: So Larry said that what did what about his wife?
- 48:23SPEAKER_04: Uh he's gonna have this plate at his celebration of life.
- 48:27SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 48:28SPEAKER_05: So that when you said that, when you read that, something popped in my head.
- 48:34SPEAKER_05: And what popped in my head was what I want on my gravestone.
- 48:40SPEAKER_05: What I've always said that I want on my gravestone.
- 48:44SPEAKER_04: This is true.
- 48:45SPEAKER_04: Uh no.
- 48:47SPEAKER_04: Here lies.
- 48:49SPEAKER_04: I'm dead.
- 48:50SPEAKER_04: This is true.
- 48:54SPEAKER_04: No.
- 48:56SPEAKER_05: That would be funny, though.
- 48:57SPEAKER_05: The chorus to this song.
- 49:03SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 49:04SPEAKER_05: This is a song I wrote.
- 49:06SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 49:07SPEAKER_05: Yes, it is.
- 49:07SPEAKER_05: Uh, this is Common Crossing.
- 49:09SPEAKER_05: This is Along the Horizon.
- 49:16SPEAKER_05: And I'll just play it until the chorus plays.
- 49:26SPEAKER_10: Speaking of jobs, I know, right?
- 49:35SPEAKER_10: You'll be hard.
- 49:37SPEAKER_10: The man you wrap me blind.
- 49:47SPEAKER_05: I want this on my gravestone.
- 50:00SPEAKER_11: Give the music that I made.
- 50:06SPEAKER_05: So I've always said, Oh, I think I've said it to my wife.
- 50:10SPEAKER_05: But I've always said that that's what I want on my gravestone.
- 50:13SPEAKER_04: She's gonna listen to this codcast, she's like, he's never said that at all.
- 50:16SPEAKER_05: If you look along the horizon, you'll see my face.
- 50:19SPEAKER_05: Uh stop and cry.
- 50:20SPEAKER_05: How's it go again?
- 50:21SPEAKER_05: If you look along the horizon.
- 50:22SPEAKER_05: Play it again.
- 50:23SPEAKER_05: If you look along the horizon, you see my face.
- 50:25SPEAKER_05: You might think about all our younger days.
- 50:28SPEAKER_05: If you listen to the wind, you'll hear the music that I make.
- 50:31SPEAKER_05: People like us, they never fade away.
- 50:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:33SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 50:33SPEAKER_05: It's pretty great.
- 50:36SPEAKER_05: So I think that would be a good thing.
- 50:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that would be great.
- 50:38SPEAKER_05: You know?
- 50:39SPEAKER_05: Nobody would know it, but that's okay.
- 50:41SPEAKER_05: That's we know it.
- 50:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 50:44SPEAKER_05: Um, so interesting little segue here.
- 50:50SPEAKER_05: Your video was pretty awesome.
- 50:51SPEAKER_05: You might think about doing a lot of drumming.
- 50:57SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, late at night.
- 50:58SPEAKER_04: Well, that's what I do.
- 50:59SPEAKER_04: I mean, that's when I feel like drumming.
- 51:01SPEAKER_04: At one in the morning?
- 51:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 51:03SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, it it doesn't, it's not disturbing anybody because you can't hear anything.
- 51:08SPEAKER_04: Outside of the basement.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: So it doesn't matter what I drum.
- 51:12SPEAKER_04: I could do what it was.
- 51:14SPEAKER_04: But that's when I'm most that's when I feel like drumming.
- 51:18SPEAKER_04: So Sunday night, I I I I went through this whole entire album from start to finish.
- 51:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: And went through every song, and I was like, holy freaking crap, why is everything so fast?
- 51:28SPEAKER_05: We did play it fast.
- 51:30SPEAKER_04: I was like, dang! I don't remember playing this that was like 15 years ago now.
- 51:36SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 51:36SPEAKER_04: You know, we were a lot younger.
- 51:38SPEAKER_05: And like I think about like you and I do a couple of these songs uh in an acoustic show.
- 51:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 51:45SPEAKER_05: And I think about like especially this one, uh, the very first track.
- 51:52SPEAKER_05: Uh it's it's so fast.
- 51:56SPEAKER_05: Oh, it is.
- 51:56SPEAKER_05: It's like a punk song compared compared to the way we play it.
- 52:11SPEAKER_05: I mean, it's not that fast, but it's faster, faster than what we were doing.
- 52:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 52:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but you're right, there's all those songs.
- 52:18SPEAKER_01: I'm like you gotta work a lot of them like, holy crap! What the frick, man?
- 52:25SPEAKER_01: Midnight Girl, too.
- 52:25SPEAKER_15: We do Midnight Girl is like and we do it.
- 52:34SPEAKER_04: We do that really slow.
- 52:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we do.
- 52:38SPEAKER_04: We need to redo this album, do it, you know.
- 52:41SPEAKER_04: You know, the old guy version.
- 52:42SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 52:45SPEAKER_05: Um So anyway, uh not to digress, but uh Along the Horizon uh by Common Crossing.
- 52:51SPEAKER_05: There we go, would be my choice.
- 52:53SPEAKER_05: Nice.
- 52:54SPEAKER_05: If I can't have the Beatles because of Larry.
- 52:58SPEAKER_04: I think that's the first time all three of us have chosen in the same I all three of us chose the same zone.
- 53:03SPEAKER_05: That's why I asked that question because I figured one of us, or like Larry or you, yeah, we're gonna pick it in in this life, or in my life.
- 53:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 53:13SPEAKER_04: Because it's the perfect montage song.
- 53:16SPEAKER_05: That's why I asked.
- 53:17SPEAKER_05: I was like, what happens if we pick the because I thought you and I were gonna pick the same song.
- 53:20SPEAKER_04: Well no.
- 53:21SPEAKER_04: Cousin Larry, uh, the dark horse out of the out of the out of the nowhere.
- 53:25SPEAKER_04: So yeah.
- 53:27SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry, blowing my nose.
- 53:29SPEAKER_04: It's gross.
- 53:30SPEAKER_04: It is gross.
- 53:31SPEAKER_05: Wait, you want to see something gross or not?
- 53:33SPEAKER_04: You're really stupid.
- 53:35SPEAKER_00: I'm 12.
- 53:36SPEAKER_04: Yes, you are.
- 53:38SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 53:38SPEAKER_04: Okay, so Cousin Larry picked In My Life by the Beatles.
- 53:42SPEAKER_04: Uh I picked Working Them Angels by Rush, and you picked Along the Horizon by Common Crossing.
- 53:48SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 53:48SPEAKER_05: So there we go.
- 53:49SPEAKER_05: Uh uh.
- 53:50SPEAKER_05: Does she have access to that?
- 53:52SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 53:53SPEAKER_04: Well, it's on iTunes, so I mean she It's on Spotify too.
- 53:57SPEAKER_04: Is it?
- 53:58SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 53:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's on Spotify.
- 53:59SPEAKER_04: So it's all right.
- 54:00SPEAKER_04: So if you when she listened to this, you get you got a couple of choices.
- 54:04SPEAKER_04: So uh either iTunes or Spotify.
- 54:07SPEAKER_04: So you can find that.
- 54:08SPEAKER_05: Common Crossing.
- 54:09SPEAKER_04: Common Crossing.
- 54:10SPEAKER_05: On Spotify.
- 54:10SPEAKER_05: You should be following us anyway.
- 54:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 54:14SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 54:14SPEAKER_04: Uh before I blow my nose, I'm gonna send it to break.
- 54:17SPEAKER_04: But we have to do the future question.
- 54:19SPEAKER_04: Oh, go ahead.
- 54:19SPEAKER_04: Let's not forget this time, alright?
- 54:21SPEAKER_04: Go ahead.
- 54:21SPEAKER_04: We already learned our lesson.
- 54:22SPEAKER_04: Okay, I'll be right back.
- 54:23SPEAKER_04: Okay, this one's very similar, but it's a little more light-hearted.
- 54:26SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 54:27SPEAKER_04: Uh the theme song to the sitcom based on your life.
- 54:31SPEAKER_05: So the theme song to the sitcom based on your life.
- 54:38SPEAKER_04: So that should be that should be interesting.
- 54:41SPEAKER_04: What would we do, baby?
- 54:44SPEAKER_04: Without us.
- 54:45SPEAKER_04: That wouldn't have been done.
- 54:46SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, that's right.
- 54:48SPEAKER_05: So we are picking an existing song though.
- 54:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 54:54SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 54:57SPEAKER_04: That's a second.
- 55:00SPEAKER_04: It should be a beat.
- 55:01SPEAKER_04: Something a beast.
- 55:03SPEAKER_04: And funny.
- 55:04SPEAKER_05: We never recorded that.
- 55:05SPEAKER_04: We should.
- 55:06SPEAKER_04: That's a great song.
- 55:07SPEAKER_04: That's a great song.
- 55:08SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 55:10SPEAKER_05: Uh alright.
- 55:11SPEAKER_04: Now we can go to break because we've done past, present, and future.
- 55:15SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 55:15SPEAKER_04: We have fulfilled our mixtape mission.
- 55:19SPEAKER_04: Next song.
- 55:22SPEAKER_05: Alright.

- 57:02SPEAKER_05: Um it's got some country uh CDs on it.
- 57:06SPEAKER_05: Alright.

- 57:20SPEAKER_05: Doug's gonna read from the Beatles Point.
- 57:23SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, since we've been talking about it, we're gonna read about it.
- 57:25SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 57:25SPEAKER_04: We're gonna read about In My Life, the song.
- 57:28SPEAKER_04: So, here we go.
- 57:29SPEAKER_04: It's a long one, so uh curl up and get a cup of tea or something.
- 57:35SPEAKER_04: Although John had been writing more obviously auto autobiographical songs for over a year now, it was in my life that he felt he'd made the breakthrough that Kenneth Kenneth Alsop had encouraged him to make in March 1964 when he suggested focusing on his own interior life.
- 57:54SPEAKER_04: Recorded in October 1965, the song was a long time in gestation.
- 57:59SPEAKER_04: It started, John said, as a long poem in which he reflected on favorite childhood haunts by tracing a journey from his home on Medlove Avenue down to the docks.
- 58:10SPEAKER_04: Elliot Mintz, who was hired by Yoko Ono to carry out an inventory of all of John's personal possessions after his death, remembers seeing the first handwritten draft of the song.
- 58:21SPEAKER_04: Quote, it was part of a large book in which he kept all his original Beatles compositions, says Mintz.
- 58:27SPEAKER_04: He had already told me about how the song was written, and that he considered it the a significant turning point in his writing.
- 58:36SPEAKER_04: In a later single-page draft of his rambling lyric, John listed Penny Lane, Church Road, the Clock Tower, the Abbey Cinema, the Tramsheds, the Dutch Cafe, St.
- 58:48SPEAKER_04: Columbus Church, the Docker's Umbrella, and Calderstones Park.
- 58:53SPEAKER_04: Although this fulfilled the requirement of being autobiographical, John realized it was no more than a series of snapshots he'd held loosely together by his feeling that once familiar landmarks were fast disappearing.
- 59:05SPEAKER_04: It was the quote, it was the most boring sort of what I did on my holidays bus trip song, and it wasn't working out at all, he said.
- 59:13SPEAKER_04: Then I lay back and these lyrics started coming to me about the places I remember.
- 59:18SPEAKER_04: Unquote.
- 59:19SPEAKER_04: John Jettison all the specific place names and worked up the sense of mourning for a disappointed childhood and youth, turning what would otherwise have been a song about the changing face of Liverpool into a universal song about confronting the face of death and decay.
- 59:37SPEAKER_03: I love this song so much.
- 59:40SPEAKER_04: He later told Peter Pete Shautan that when he wrote the line about friends in my life, some of whom were dead and some of whom were living, he was thinking specifically of both Shautan and former Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe, who had died of a brain tumor in April 1962.
- 59:56SPEAKER_04: The lyric bears a surprising resemblance to Charles Lamb's 18th-century poem, The Old Familiar Faces, which John could have well come across in the popular poetry anthology Palgrave's Treasury.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_04: The poem starts, I have had playmates, I have had companions.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_04: In my days of childhood, in my joyful school days, all are gone, the old familiar faces.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_04: Six verses later it ends.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_04: How some they have died, and how and some they have left me, and some are taken from me, all are departed.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_04: All are gone, the old familiar faces.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_04: That's cool.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I can see that.
- 1:00:41unknown: I love you Ma.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_04: The source of the melody remains in dispute.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_04: John said that Paul helped out with a section on which he was stuck.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_04: Paul still believes he wrote it all.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_04: Of course he thought.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_04: Quote, I remember that he had the words written out like a long poem, and I went off and worked something out on the Mellotron.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_04: He said that the tune, if I remember rightly, was inspired by the miracles.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_04: That's interesting.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_04: He was almost certain referring to You Really Got a Hold on Me.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_04: I don't really see it.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_11: But I love you.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_04: I don't really hear it.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_04: Uh, but it inspired.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_04: On the track itself, the instrumental break was played by George Martin, who recorded himself on piano and then played it back at double speed.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_05: I was just gonna say, they sped it up.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_04: Played it back at double speed to create a Baroque effect.
- 1:01:39SPEAKER_04: John's opinion on the finished result was that it was, quote, his first real major piece of work.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_05: So oh, not George Martin's.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_05: His John's John's, okay.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, that's uh It's an amazing song.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_04: Amazing song.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_05: Um, you know what?
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_05: Uh yeah.

- 1:07:20SPEAKER_04: Well, we just say nonsensical things and we point at each other.
- 1:07:22SPEAKER_04: It's great.

- 1:08:11SPEAKER_04: I see I I'm glad you did that because I never would have got it.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_04: Um that was what was the other one I was thinking of?

- 1:08:31SPEAKER_04: That's what I was thinking of.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_05: Um I have a lot of little big town in here.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_04: Do I even have I don't know if you do or not?
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_05: Oh, right there.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_05: So A Place to Land.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_05: I have a lot of Little Big Town because I'm a big fan of the songs that they put out.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_05: Most of the songs that they put out.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_05: A lot of the songs that they put on the radio, to be honest with you, are just okay.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_05: The album cuts are much better.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_05: Alright.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_05: And I don't know why you know I don't know.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_05: Well, that's you know, that's typical music industry.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I suppose.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_05: So um I'll just I'll just kind of start with track one.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_05: This is from 2007.
- 1:09:23SPEAKER_05: It's country, but it's not.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_05: I don't know how to big chorus.
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_05: You know how I am with big mel melodic chords.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_05: This one's called Fine Line.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_13: Completely completed.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_05: I was wrong.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_05: This is not my favorite album.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_05: Completely.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_13: You just don't want your boy.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_13: I get comes from your table.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_13: You call it don't do it normal, but I call it.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_04: You know what this reminds me of?
- 1:10:23SPEAKER_04: What?
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_04: It's like a cross of Fleetwood Mac and Hootie and the Blue.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_04: I was just gonna say Fleetwood Mac, for sure.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_05: Let me just play a couple other tracks here.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_05: This was not released to radio.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_05: Fine line was.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_05: By the way, this is called Evangelina.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_12: And you don't have to be hit.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_04: Didn't Bacon Brothers have a song called Evangeline Your Heart.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_04: Oh, that Angelina.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_13: Oh denial is bolstered by your dream.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_05: Harmonies are just incredible.
- 1:11:51SPEAKER_12: It fits me eventually.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_05: This is one of my favorite songs of theirs.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_05: This is a band that I would like to see live.
- 1:12:09SPEAKER_05: Are they still around?
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_05: Oh, yeah.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:12:28SPEAKER_13: Choose a story that you tell.
- 1:12:31SPEAKER_05: As a songwriter as well.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I love the songs.
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_13: Blame the world or blame yourself.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_13: Sometimes life comes at your heart, and it's easy to let it drag you down.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_13: Yeah, I get it's a mess.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_13: It's a struggle, it's a test.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_13: But can you find a place to rest?
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_13: In a house of bitter miss.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_13: Just cause it ain't what you planned on me today.
- 1:13:20SPEAKER_13: What it ought to be.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it's only what you make of it.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_13: Yeah, it's only what you make of it.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_13: And you make it so hard on your cell.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_05: Alright, one more song from this album.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_05: And then I want to play a couple, because they have a unique sound.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_05: This one's a great one called Lonely Enough.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_05: Yes, it's another slower album, slower song, but I made a mistake.
- 1:14:04SPEAKER_05: This was not my favorite Little Big Town album, but it has a couple of my favorite songs on it.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_05: This one's called Lonely Enough.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_13: And we'll then we'll pick up the uh It's been a long time since I prayed.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_13: Let the words fall where they may.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_13: Forgive me now for what I'm about to say.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_13: Tired of being on my knees, sick of begging you, please, since the day you took him away from me.
- 1:14:45SPEAKER_13: How much more do I have to hurt?
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_13: Do you wanna see me go tell me don't know the settlements of this place?
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_13: You got the angels at the stage.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_13: So give me back.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_05: See, I mean it's just the harmonies and just the songs themselves are just uh amazing.
- 1:15:26SPEAKER_05: And you might think, I mean, they have two guys in there, do the guys sing?
- 1:15:29SPEAKER_05: Well, the guys do sing.
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_05: This isn't from this album, but they have a great relationship with their producer.
- 1:15:34SPEAKER_05: His name is Jay Joyce.
- 1:15:35SPEAKER_05: He did a Hyatt album.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_05: Uh he did um The Tiki Bar.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_05: He was the producer for that.
- 1:15:41SPEAKER_05: Uh he's got a kind of a unique um way of mixing and producing.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_05: And it's on songs like this, where the producer, Jay Joyce, really shines.
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_05: This is Faster Gun.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_05: This is from a different album.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_05: From the painkiller album.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_05: See, it's country, but it's not.
