- 0:00Welcome to the RedTech daily podcast, powered by artificial intelligence.
- 0:05I'm Marguerite Clark, and today we have an exciting lineup of stories for you.
- 0:10We'll cover the latest appointments at Inrush Broadcast Services, hear from audio pioneer Bob
- 0:15Orban, and get the scoop on AEQ's upcoming webinar.
- 0:20Plus, we'll explore a fascinating fusion of golden ears and neural nets, and learn about a
- 0:25global broadcast invitation from NStories Studios.
- 0:31Let's start with the news that broadcast veteran engineer Andy Gunn is joining Inrush
- 0:36Broadcast Services as the director of project management and process engineering.
- 0:42This newly created role aims to enhance the company's ability to manage complex broadcast
- 0:47technology projects.
- 0:50Senior Vice President of Emerging Technologies Shaun Dolan emphasizes the importance of
- 0:56scaling operations without compromising quality, and believes Gunn's engineering
- 1:00expertise and operational mindset will be key.
- 1:05Gunn, previously at WAMU FM in Washington, D.C., is eager to streamline project
- 1:10transitions and strengthen support processes.
- 1:15Reflecting on 50 years in audio processing, Bob Orban shares insights from his career.
- 1:22In the early 1970s, overshoots in FM transmitters' low-pass filters caused peak
- 1:27modulation issues.
- 1:30Orban's Optimod 8000A, launched in 1975, addressed these challenges, allowing for more
- 1:36average modulation and improved audio quality.
- 1:40His work on the 8100A introduced multiband compression, further enhancing loudness and
- 1:46clarity.
- 1:48Orban's transition to digital processing with the 8200 highlighted challenges like aliasing
- 1:54distortion, but his innovations, including the distortion-canceled clipper, revolutionized the
- 2:00industry.
- 2:00AEQ is gearing up to showcase its latest offering, the Capitol IP Plus digital audio
- 2:09mixing console, during a webinar on February 19th at 9:30 a.m.
- 2:13Central European Time.
- 2:15Designed for broadcasting, this console is perfect for on-air control while being
- 2:19adaptable to various workflows.
- 2:22It boasts features like automatic monitor muting, fader start, and external
- 2:26communications management.
- 2:29With physical faders, a touchscreen, and IP connectivity, the Capitol IP Plus offers power,
- 2:36simplicity, and reliability for both radio and television studios.
- 2:42In a fascinating collaboration at Grupo Globo, machine learning engineer Pedro Leite and
- 2:47veteran sound engineer Luiz Fernando Kruszielski combined their expertise to explore
- 2:52AI-driven sound design.
- 2:54Their work focused on transforming voices using AI, maintaining authenticity by capturing the
- 3:00unique "voice DNA" of each speaker.
- 3:04This technology found a unique application in a drama series where a girl's voice had to
- 3:08transform into that of a werewolf.
- 3:11By integrating real wolf vocalizations, they achieved a natural and immersive result,
- 3:16showcasing AI's potential in enhancing audio production.
- 3:19NStories Studios in Brussels is inviting radio stations to join a special live global
- 3:26broadcast on February 13 to celebrate World Radio Day.
- 3:31As a new podcast and videocast hub launched by NGroup, NStories will host this event, offering
- 3:37each participating station a five-minute live slot to showcase their creativity and share how
- 3:42they're celebrating.
- 3:44The broadcast will be hosted on the RedTech website, providing a platform for international
- 3:50collaboration and audience engagement.
