Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's Almost Famous podcast, and I'm here today for another
- 0:09Speaker 2: Golden Bachelor recap, and this time I'm joined by someone
- 0:12Speaker 2: we got to know and love on season one of
- 0:15Speaker 2: The Golden Bachelor, and she was on the most season
- 0:18Speaker 2: of Bachelor in Paradise. Nancy. Welcome to the show.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Hi've Ben, Thanks for having me.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Nancy. You've been up to some fun stuff recently. We
- 0:30Speaker 2: were talking about the fomo we experienced watching your recent
- 0:36Speaker 2: Girls Weekend with Joan, Kathy and Susan.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Well done.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Tell us about this. I mean, I don't even know
- 0:42Speaker 2: what question I ask, because we got to see bits
- 0:45Speaker 2: and pieces of it, but it looked incredibly fun.
- 0:49Speaker 3: It was like summer camp all over. We went to
- 0:52Speaker 3: see Kathy in Austin, Texas, and she had everything arranged.
- 0:57Speaker 3: We cooked, we went out one night, we cooked in
- 1:01Speaker 3: one night, actually ended up having dinner for breakfast the
- 1:06Speaker 3: next day, and truly just hung out with each other,
- 1:10Speaker 3: went out on a boat with one of Kathy's friends,
- 1:14Speaker 3: and then went to this really cute Austin, Texas sort
- 1:19Speaker 3: of flagship place to drink and eat in the afternoon
- 1:25Speaker 3: and we had a ball, but truly we and I
- 1:29Speaker 3: know you've heard me say this before, as probably others
- 1:32Speaker 3: have that this because of Bachelor Nation and because of
- 1:37Speaker 3: what we all went through, it's a forever friendship. We fight,
- 1:42Speaker 3: we call each other out, I tell people to stop interrupting.
- 1:46Speaker 3: That hasn't helped yet, But just saying.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I was going to say, with Kathy and Susan, I
- 1:50Speaker 2: feel like that is uh, yeah, I don't know if
- 1:53Speaker 2: that would work, but we do.
- 1:57Speaker 3: We're it's like we're sisters because we like, like I said,
- 2:00Speaker 3: we fight, we give each other advice, all of that.
- 2:02Speaker 3: But that's the true blessing that came out of Golden
- 2:07Speaker 3: Bachelor Season one.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I was going to ask if you think, looking back now,
- 2:12Speaker 2: that the friendships and the bonds that you have from
- 2:15Speaker 2: that show is the best part for you.
- 2:19Speaker 3: It is for me absolutely without a doubt.
- 2:22Speaker 2: And obviously we saw you on Paradise. Fans want to
- 2:26Speaker 2: know if there's anything going on in your love life
- 2:30Speaker 2: since Paradise. Oh goodness, perhaps we're getting quiet.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Perhaps I don't want to say too much because it's
- 2:42Speaker 3: very new. Yeah, we've been talking and we're going to
- 2:46Speaker 3: see each other in a couple of weeks. That's all
- 2:49Speaker 3: I can say because I haven't met him in person. Sure,
- 2:54Speaker 3: you chat on the phone every day.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I mean, that's just fun. It is fun. It's just like,
- 3:00Speaker 2: think the first person you've chatted with since the show.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Not chatted with But truly, I had one date in
- 3:07Speaker 3: the last five years, okay, because you know, been very
- 3:11Speaker 3: busy with Bachelor Nation since our season. I you know,
- 3:16Speaker 3: I didn't know I didn't date. So this would be
- 3:18Speaker 3: the first one that I've really wanted to And so
- 3:22Speaker 3: I'm hoping for the future. And Ben Higgins, you know,
- 3:26Speaker 3: you would be the first one I would tell if
- 3:28Speaker 3: anything happens again. So I'll call you and I could
- 3:30Speaker 3: come on again.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah, you can come on again. That'd be good. I'd
- 3:33Speaker 2: like that. So just give us I want to dig
- 3:36Speaker 2: in here. But how did you two connect? Can you
- 3:39Speaker 2: tell us that? Or is that given too much away?
- 3:41Speaker 3: I cannot tell you that?
- 3:44Speaker 2: Okay, fair enough, All right, well we'll just have to
- 3:46Speaker 2: we'll just stay tuned.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Oh, I said, you'll be the first one to know.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Thank you. Make sure you let us know. Don't let
- 3:52Speaker 2: anybody else know. You couldn't come on here today. We're
- 3:55Speaker 2: obviously going to break down the most recent episode of
- 3:58Speaker 2: The Golden Bachelor. It's Fantasy Suite week and we got
- 4:02Speaker 2: Cindy and Peg and Melt together for this week. But
- 4:06Speaker 2: we can't have you on without asking about the recent
- 4:09Speaker 2: headlines that have come across everything here in the last
- 4:12Speaker 2: twenty four hours. It's Gary and Teresa and the mud
- 4:16Speaker 2: slinging between them. I mean, I don't want to say
- 4:20Speaker 2: crazy things are being said because that makes the you know,
- 4:23Speaker 2: one of them being crazy. I don't know this, but
- 4:26Speaker 2: there's outrageous things being said, like things that like will
- 4:29Speaker 2: make you stop in your tracks and be like, wait,
- 4:31Speaker 2: what was what are they claiming? What are they talking about?
- 4:36Speaker 2: So I guess my first question to you was is
- 4:38Speaker 2: this shock? Is this a shocker to you that this
- 4:40Speaker 2: is happening.
- 4:41Speaker 3: It's not a shocker. I first of all, regarding the
- 4:48Speaker 3: two of them, I feel like they did Bachelor Nation
- 4:54Speaker 3: a disservice, both of them together collectively, and I feel
- 5:00Speaker 3: like they could have each gotten out of it. They
- 5:03Speaker 3: could have left or broken up before the marriage. All
- 5:10Speaker 3: of that and the other thing I have to say,
- 5:13Speaker 3: because it's come out. Many things have come out, as
- 5:16Speaker 3: you know, but Teresa told me verbatim that she read
- 5:21Speaker 3: a book on how to win the Bachelor.
- 5:26Speaker 2: M I remember this means so yeah, And.
- 5:29Speaker 3: She has said, you know, I feel like the truth
- 5:33Speaker 3: is sort of careless that arena, and you know, they
- 5:39Speaker 3: both the mudsling is bad. I mean they're both. They're
- 5:44Speaker 3: both I guess guilty or whatever. I'm not the judge,
- 5:48Speaker 3: but you know what I mean, the mudsling should sup
- 5:51Speaker 3: but I think she's really a lot harder on him.
- 5:56Speaker 3: He has some good points, but I think they should
- 5:59Speaker 3: both sort of stop because it sides.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Today. I don't know if you saw this, but you know,
- 6:07Speaker 2: the back and forth is it is what it is.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I agree it should stop. It's he's moved on, and
- 6:14Speaker 2: I'm hoping she has as well. But today E News
- 6:20Speaker 2: released a picture and this is a quote from Teresa
- 6:26Speaker 2: uh and she says, he said, do you see that
- 6:29Speaker 2: shed up there? And Teresa responded with I said yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 2: he said, well that's going where I'm going to hide
- 6:37Speaker 2: your body after i'd kill you and chop you up.
- 6:41Speaker 3: No, I did not see that.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Today it's out there in E News, so you can
- 6:47Speaker 2: go look. Yeah, it's it's very I mean, this is
- 6:52Speaker 2: one where I stopped and said, what is happening here?
- 6:55Speaker 2: You know, fans have wondered if he was like kidding
- 6:58Speaker 2: in that moment. I feel like maybe he does have
- 7:01Speaker 2: a dark sense of humor. This is very dark if
- 7:04Speaker 2: it was said. I also, I'm curious why this was
- 7:08Speaker 2: never brought up before. I feel like this would be
- 7:09Speaker 2: a pretty easy reason for a breakup or divorce. If
- 7:13Speaker 2: you're like, hey, this person that I got married to
- 7:16Speaker 2: is joking about chopping me up. It would have come
- 7:18Speaker 2: out a year.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Ago totally and again, she could have exited, she could
- 7:23Speaker 3: have enough. Can't do this. I'm getting red flags she didn't.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I mean, this is a big claim, like a huge claim, Nancy.
- 7:32Speaker 2: She's saying that her at the time. I don't know
- 7:35Speaker 2: if they were married, engaged, I don't know what the
- 7:37Speaker 2: timeline was for this quote. But she's saying that the
- 7:40Speaker 2: person that she was with romantically at the time, no
- 7:43Speaker 2: matter when they were, what their you know, status was,
- 7:47Speaker 2: was joking about chopping her up. I don't want to
- 7:52Speaker 2: say it's going too far, but I feel like that
- 7:54Speaker 2: is like, if goodness gracious, I don't It's like, like
- 7:58Speaker 2: I said, it makes your jaw drop. Has he responded,
- 8:02Speaker 2: I haven't heard yet. Well, have to look at it
- 8:04Speaker 2: just came out a few minutes ago, right before we
- 8:06Speaker 2: got on here. Yeah, it's nasty. It's getting nastier. Gary's
- 8:10Speaker 2: book obviously came out here recently, and that's why this
- 8:12Speaker 2: stuff's kind of picking up steam. And I mean, I
- 8:18Speaker 2: don't know if anybody on our team's read the book
- 8:20Speaker 2: yet or not. He came on here just a few
- 8:23Speaker 2: weeks ago to talk through the book with us. After
- 8:26Speaker 2: Ashley and myself have read and gone through it. There's,
- 8:30Speaker 2: you know, obviously some very vulnerable admittance to their relationship
- 8:35Speaker 2: in this book. Also, Gary's story is told in this book.
- 8:42Speaker 2: So I mean, it could just be the weekly news
- 8:45Speaker 2: cycle where these headlines will come back and forth about
- 8:47Speaker 2: what they're saying about each other. But it's not pretty
- 8:50Speaker 2: by any means, and it's not it doesn't look healthy.
- 8:54Speaker 3: No, And I'm not sure anybody would joke about that,
- 8:58Speaker 3: you know what I mean, you could make light of it.
- 9:00Speaker 3: I'm sure maybe he will make light of it, but
- 9:02Speaker 3: we'll see.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, I can't imagine joking about that. That feels well,
- 9:09Speaker 2: it feels very odd. Well, thanks for talking about obviously,
- 9:12Speaker 2: you're somebody that would be close to the situation or
- 9:15Speaker 2: at least has been a part of their relationship for
- 9:18Speaker 2: a long time. We have moved on to season two
- 9:22Speaker 2: of The Golden Bachelor. Before we kick off the breakdown
- 9:25Speaker 2: of this episode, I would love our fans to kind
- 9:26Speaker 2: of understand where you're coming from coming into this. What
- 9:30Speaker 2: have been your thoughts so far in this season on
- 9:32Speaker 2: Mel as a lead on the contestants. Just kind of
- 9:36Speaker 2: get us caught up on where you're coming into.
- 9:38Speaker 3: This at I think obviously I've watched it and I
- 9:44Speaker 3: feel like it's been slow. I feel like Mel. It's
- 9:49Speaker 3: hard for Mel, and this may be just the way
- 9:51Speaker 3: he is his personality. It's hard to extract information from him.
- 9:56Speaker 3: There's a lot of one word answers, and again it's
- 10:00Speaker 3: I know it's not a criticism, it's just a fact.
- 10:03Speaker 3: But on TV, I sit there watching thinking, come on,
- 10:08Speaker 3: there's no one in there, come on, give it up
- 10:10Speaker 3: a little bit. What do you really feel like? And
- 10:13Speaker 3: it's really hard to get to know him, and I
- 10:17Speaker 3: haven't seen him. The other thing I wanted to say
- 10:20Speaker 3: about him was I haven't seen him be vulnerable. I
- 10:24Speaker 3: haven't seen him like get emotional. I think he did once,
- 10:28Speaker 3: but not I just can't get in. I can't. I
- 10:33Speaker 3: don't feel like I know him, And without knowing him,
- 10:37Speaker 3: it's hard to root for somebody that you're not getting
- 10:40Speaker 3: to know and who's not opening up. And I kept
- 10:42Speaker 3: thinking after the first one, maybe next week will be better.
- 10:46Speaker 3: So you know, we'll see. But I think the women
- 10:49Speaker 3: are lovely. I know there was drama with Nicole and
- 10:54Speaker 3: things like that. I think it's sad to see. You
- 10:59Speaker 3: know that some people may want to be influencers, but
- 11:01Speaker 3: I think that's just the part of the deal when
- 11:05Speaker 3: people come on. Yeah, I think what happens a lot.
- 11:09Speaker 2: It does happen a lot. I was hoping The Golden
- 11:12Speaker 2: Show would kind of stay away from that, and I
- 11:16Speaker 2: still think for the most part, it will. And this
- 11:19Speaker 2: was just kind of a one off moment. The show
- 11:22Speaker 2: tried to bring somebody on that they thought could spark controversy.
- 11:25Speaker 2: It didn't really work for him. I don't think fans
- 11:28Speaker 2: reacted positively to the drama existing on the Golden Show.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I hear you, and we've agreed during this podcast that
- 11:37Speaker 2: we don't know mel so we can't like criticize or
- 11:40Speaker 2: judge him as a human because we don't know him.
- 11:43Speaker 2: He hasn't done anything wrong. He just really hasn't done anything.
- 11:47Speaker 2: And so I see this and I watch this and
- 11:51Speaker 2: I'm with you where I'm like, I'm waiting for that
- 11:53Speaker 2: moment of vulnerability. And this episode had and we'll talk
- 11:56Speaker 2: about it, moments where this could have easily happened. Hometowns
- 11:58Speaker 2: had moments where it could have easily happened. Yet he
- 12:01Speaker 2: still stays in this same kind of dry, one word answer,
- 12:08Speaker 2: direct to the point, but not really ever getting to
- 12:10Speaker 2: a point. Responses that's not on him. I know many
- 12:15Speaker 2: people like that. It's on the show for casting him
- 12:19Speaker 2: as their lead. Did they think they were going to
- 12:21Speaker 2: get something different out of this guy? Why was he
- 12:23Speaker 2: the one where they're like, yes.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Or maybe they could get it out of him, or
- 12:27Speaker 3: maybe the producers thought they could get it out of him.
- 12:30Speaker 3: But he's not given anything. And I think, you know,
- 12:33Speaker 3: he appears to be a man of few words, so
- 12:37Speaker 3: he may need to be you know, pushed a little
- 12:40Speaker 3: bit or you know, help produce a little bit more.
- 12:45Speaker 3: But I think he is who he is. Not nothing
- 12:49Speaker 3: wrong with not with being a man of few words.
- 12:52Speaker 2: You probably shouldn't be on the show.
- 12:54Speaker 3: I wouldn't think so. And I think it's also and
- 12:58Speaker 3: I don't know this, I'm saying this for my opinion.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I think it's really hard to find good quality men
- 13:06Speaker 3: who are in their sixties and above who want to
- 13:10Speaker 3: date women in the same age. And you've apologize for
- 13:15Speaker 3: all that, but I think in real life, I've experienced
- 13:18Speaker 3: that all of us Golden Bachelor women from the first
- 13:22Speaker 3: season have experienced that they really do want to be
- 13:25Speaker 3: with arm candy and you know, somebody to make them
- 13:29Speaker 3: feel young and all of that.
- 13:42Speaker 2: We are at Overnight, so we're at Fantasy Suite week
- 13:46Speaker 2: for the Golden Show. We do have Cindy and Peg left.
- 13:50Speaker 2: The episode opens up with a teaser for something that
- 13:53Speaker 2: we see in a conversation with Cindy later on in
- 13:56Speaker 2: the episode. Mel does it at the very beginning of
- 14:00Speaker 2: this episode that it's possible he could be engaged in
- 14:05Speaker 2: a week. That's kind of his sentiment through this whole
- 14:08Speaker 2: episode is it's possible. Things have to happen or grow
- 14:11Speaker 2: or progress, but it's possible. Sure, you signed up for
- 14:15Speaker 2: a show that, yes, it is very possible in a
- 14:18Speaker 2: week you could be engaged. It's also possible you could
- 14:22Speaker 2: be engaged in a week. Nancy, we never know.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yes, I agree, and he I guess Peg was his
- 14:29Speaker 3: first date. I mean, do you want to talk? Should
- 14:31Speaker 3: we talk about her? There?
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yeah, let's talk about Peg. You know, the beginning of
- 14:36Speaker 2: this episode really just falls into this first date. He's
- 14:39Speaker 2: talking about, you know, a little bit with Jesse on
- 14:42Speaker 2: why the love word is not used. I think that's
- 14:45Speaker 2: fair and fine. What I think Jesse's actually trying to
- 14:49Speaker 2: do there is pretty much get this guy to open
- 14:51Speaker 2: up about any of his feelings towards anything so far,
- 14:54Speaker 2: good or bad or indifferent. We just want to get
- 14:57Speaker 2: to know where he's at and we have no clue.
- 14:59Speaker 2: But yes, let's talk about the first date. It is
- 15:01Speaker 2: with Peg. And he pulls up in a dune buggy. Nancy,
- 15:04Speaker 2: I'll let you take it from here. What was your thoughts? Feelings?
- 15:08Speaker 2: Break this date down?
- 15:09Speaker 3: He pulls up in a doom buggy. She is effusive,
- 15:13Speaker 3: she's excited, she's very energetic. And I don't mean this
- 15:18Speaker 3: in a bad way at all, But Mel doesn't have
- 15:21Speaker 3: to work for anything. She's on she's pulling the wagon.
- 15:26Speaker 3: He can sit back in the dune Buggy or somewhere
- 15:29Speaker 3: else and let her be yay, let's go do this yay.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Isn't this beautiful? He really doesn't have to work for her,
- 15:38Speaker 3: like work to entertain her or work to he doesn't
- 15:43Speaker 3: give back what she's giving. It's not it didn't feel
- 15:48Speaker 3: even to me.
- 15:49Speaker 2: What do you think that's just the case, though? Is
- 15:51Speaker 2: somebody that is a man of few words that you,
- 15:54Speaker 2: especially in this environment, you would have to chase because
- 15:57Speaker 2: you never know where you're at, And you're like, this
- 15:59Speaker 2: guy doesn't a word, He's not telling.
- 16:01Speaker 3: You where you're at, so you sort of have to
- 16:03Speaker 3: go with you.
- 16:04Speaker 2: You got to do it yourself.
- 16:06Speaker 3: What.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean that's what I think.
- 16:09Speaker 3: So then she drives and it's even faster and better
- 16:13Speaker 3: than when he was. And I think I think Peg
- 16:19Speaker 3: was easy for him because of what I just said.
- 16:22Speaker 3: But also Peg said something like she wasn't certain they're
- 16:28Speaker 3: going to grow into this. She wasn't. She wasn't saying
- 16:32Speaker 3: I could marry you tomorrow. And I think my opinion
- 16:36Speaker 3: is when I was watching it, he liked that. He
- 16:39Speaker 3: liked that about her.
- 16:41Speaker 2: I agree. I mean, I think you can't have an
- 16:44Speaker 2: episode of Fantasy Suite week without comparing contrasting the different relationships.
- 16:50Speaker 2: And I think Peg and her mindset towards this relationship
- 16:54Speaker 2: is very much in line with his mindset towards this relationship,
- 16:57Speaker 2: and that's why I felt like they clicked. You know,
- 16:59Speaker 2: they go dinner that night, and they do have some
- 17:03Speaker 2: really great conversations, but the conversations are kind of leading
- 17:08Speaker 2: up to this. We'll see where this goes. Mentality like
- 17:11Speaker 2: this is great. I like you, I missed you. It's
- 17:14Speaker 2: good being around you, but we're not making any big
- 17:17Speaker 2: commitments to each other right now. And she even jokes
- 17:20Speaker 2: that he would have to get a prenup if they
- 17:23Speaker 2: did get married. It just felt like it was in line.
- 17:26Speaker 2: And then they both seem very excited for the fantasy suite.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I say that because later on it felt like there
- 17:34Speaker 2: wasn't an excitement for a fantasy suite, but this one
- 17:38Speaker 2: felt like it was very much like, Hey, this could
- 17:40Speaker 2: be a lot of fun. I enjoy being around you.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Let's make this.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Thing happen exactly exactly. And I think it's in the morning.
- 17:49Speaker 3: I didn't get a fuzzy, warm feeling, though, but I
- 17:52Speaker 3: don't think he's fuzzy and warm.
- 17:55Speaker 2: No, and I don't think he's comfortable with the cameras.
- 17:57Speaker 3: I agreat so we shouldn't. I guess against him that
- 18:01Speaker 3: he's a man of few words, and he you know,
- 18:05Speaker 3: isn't as effusive. But I was hoping that he'd get
- 18:10Speaker 3: a little more warm and fuzzy made perhaps after the overnight.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Yeah, you would think like, hey, this has been a
- 18:19Speaker 2: wonderful night, let's cuddle up, let's talk, let's spooch and chat.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Get that we didn't get that the only thing here
- 18:26Speaker 2: And I'm with you. I again, this is not a
- 18:29Speaker 2: criticism for him personally. He is a man of few words.
- 18:32Speaker 2: He is who he is, and he stayed firm in
- 18:35Speaker 2: what he thinks is right through this whole process, and
- 18:38Speaker 2: we give him credit for that. You're just on the
- 18:40Speaker 2: wrong show, though, Like you can't be the lead of
- 18:44Speaker 2: the Bachelor and not show us anything. Like they have
- 18:48Speaker 2: to choose people who they know we can invest into
- 18:52Speaker 2: as an audience. I also feel like the show has
- 18:55Speaker 2: done him a little bit of a disservice. They've aired
- 18:58Speaker 2: many moments where he's ell closed off, cold, brash, and
- 19:05Speaker 2: then this episode they really showed him if it was
- 19:09Speaker 2: true or not to be boring, like he's driving the
- 19:12Speaker 2: doom buggy really slow putting around. They make sure to
- 19:16Speaker 2: air that, right, They don't just air the fun times
- 19:18Speaker 2: they're having, And then they make sure to make a
- 19:21Speaker 2: big deal of him swimming with stingrays and his lack
- 19:24Speaker 2: of desire to do that.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I'm not sure why they did that, are you no?
- 19:30Speaker 2: I mean, usually they protect the lead. It feels like
- 19:33Speaker 2: the last few weeks of this season they've really kind
- 19:37Speaker 2: of thrown Melt to the wind where they're like, Hey,
- 19:39Speaker 2: we're going to show him during Hometowns not answer anybody's
- 19:42Speaker 2: questions and really not engage any of the families in
- 19:46Speaker 2: a meaningful way. We're going to show him now during
- 19:49Speaker 2: Fantasy Suite week be completely closed off, cold, and also
- 19:54Speaker 2: not invest into any of these experiences that they're getting
- 19:58Speaker 2: you that they're able to have, and they're not helping
- 20:02Speaker 2: his matter of the likability from the public or just
- 20:05Speaker 2: a public being like, oh, look at mel, he's really
- 20:07Speaker 2: having a good time here. This episode makes him look
- 20:11Speaker 2: miserable for half of it.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Yes, it was awkward. He was awkward, and I don't
- 20:16Speaker 3: mean he's an awkward person, but in those situations he
- 20:19Speaker 3: was awkward. And I'm surprised they showed it like that.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I'm surprised as well. I don't remember many seasons where
- 20:28Speaker 2: the lead has been so exposed in a negative way
- 20:33Speaker 2: so often. We talked about Mel and Peg waking up
- 20:37Speaker 2: the next morning. Comparatively, they do seem a lot warmer
- 20:41Speaker 2: with each other than what we see later on in
- 20:43Speaker 2: the episode. So I will say, if we're looking at
- 20:47Speaker 2: a comparison, because that's the only thing we can do,
- 20:49Speaker 2: it feels like Peg and Mel at least enjoy their
- 20:52Speaker 2: time with each other, and it does feel more fun
- 20:55Speaker 2: and lighthearted than what we see with Cindy. We do
- 20:59Speaker 2: have Cindy's one on what date coming up next?
- 21:01Speaker 3: Do you feel that way? Because Peg is so excited
- 21:07Speaker 3: and there's more, you know, she's all over, she's joyful,
- 21:14Speaker 3: and she's you know, like I said, he's just like
- 21:17Speaker 3: sitting there. But as far as TV like, it's all
- 21:19Speaker 3: happy and energetic. Do you feel that? I mean, I
- 21:25Speaker 3: don't know that that he his responses to her are like, yeah, okay,
- 21:31Speaker 3: this is great.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I mean I think that if we look at it, yes,
- 21:35Speaker 2: Peg is more energetic, she's more lighthearted, She's not putting
- 21:39Speaker 2: any pressure on this dude, So I think he feels
- 21:41Speaker 2: completely relaxed in this relationship. Cindy comes in and says,
- 21:47Speaker 2: I like you, mel I want to progress this thing forward.
- 21:50Speaker 2: I'm excited and committed to potentially spending the rest of
- 21:53Speaker 2: my life with you. And I think in the back
- 21:56Speaker 2: of his mind he is thinking, I never came on
- 21:58Speaker 2: this show thinking this would happen, and I'm not about
- 22:01Speaker 2: to let it happen now.
- 22:03Speaker 3: I agree. I agree.
- 22:04Speaker 2: So there is distance between them, and we don't really
- 22:08Speaker 2: see it until later on the date because the date
- 22:10Speaker 2: starts out with him going to swim with Stingrays. He
- 22:14Speaker 2: seems excited about it when he brings it up to her.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Well, and you know what I noticed, tell me if
- 22:19Speaker 3: you agree. I noticed when they were on the boat
- 22:23Speaker 3: and before they got to the Stingray City, he was
- 22:26Speaker 3: smiling at her. I was trying to look at details, like, okay,
- 22:30Speaker 3: a little any little clue where he is. He was
- 22:34Speaker 3: smiling at Cindy more than he was smiling at Peg
- 22:40Speaker 3: on the date, So.
- 22:41Speaker 2: His body language was very positive and he.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Was yes, of course it was positive, and he was
- 22:47Speaker 3: saying the same things I like you, I like you, you know, yeah,
- 22:52Speaker 3: And then yes, Stingray City didn't work well for him,
- 22:55Speaker 3: but I thought Cindy was very sweet about it and
- 22:58Speaker 3: was trying to get him like it's okay, honey, you know,
- 23:01Speaker 3: come on work. They won't hurt you. And it was
- 23:04Speaker 3: I mean, he that part. Actually he was vulnerable.
- 23:09Speaker 2: He was, but also just an odd date for the
- 23:12Speaker 2: show to set up. I mean, as as a lead.
- 23:15Speaker 2: At one time, they would have asked me, Hey, we're
- 23:17Speaker 2: gonna swim with Stingrays today. Are you nervous about this?
- 23:21Speaker 2: And I could say yes, I'm very nervous, and they say, okay,
- 23:25Speaker 2: you know this is a big week, like how can
- 23:27Speaker 2: we make it so that you have a good time?
- 23:29Speaker 2: Like those were always conversations that had or they would
- 23:32Speaker 2: show me saying in an interview I'm nervous about this,
- 23:35Speaker 2: to at least give perspective into why I am not
- 23:39Speaker 2: jumping in with the Stingrays. Mel just pretty much like
- 23:43Speaker 2: stands off to the side and makes things very awkward
- 23:48Speaker 2: for everybody involved, including the people leading the tour, who
- 23:52Speaker 2: are like they were, hey, like you get this once
- 23:56Speaker 2: in a lifetime chance, And.
- 23:57Speaker 3: It looked like they people leading the tour obviously they
- 24:02Speaker 3: have food, but they over twenty feet away, so that
- 24:07Speaker 3: so the stingrays wouldn't get near him. Now, we don't
- 24:10Speaker 3: know what happened off camera, but we know that he
- 24:13Speaker 3: was not comfortable and I think he was like, don't
- 24:15Speaker 3: get them near me.
- 24:17Speaker 2: It was just a kind of a blow date. So
- 24:19Speaker 2: we'll say that the day ended and it looks like
- 24:21Speaker 2: Cindy had a great time and Mel was miserable, and
- 24:24Speaker 2: they get out of the water is and they start
- 24:26Speaker 2: having this conversation about the future. It's where things kind
- 24:31Speaker 2: of get closed off. There's nothing. Cindy is kind of
- 24:34Speaker 2: laying her heart out there to Mel, talking about the
- 24:37Speaker 2: show and what it means to come on the show
- 24:40Speaker 2: and what a future can look like between them, and
- 24:43Speaker 2: he is has a wall up that is bigger than
- 24:47Speaker 2: any wall I've ever seen on the show. It's fantasy
- 24:51Speaker 2: sweet week. It's really where we start to see emotions
- 24:54Speaker 2: take over. He has no emotion towards it other than
- 24:57Speaker 2: pretty much telling her, I'm not going to make you
- 24:59Speaker 2: any promises. Is because there's somebody else involved here. He's
- 25:04Speaker 2: not even skipping over and trying to make this easier
- 25:06Speaker 2: for her. He's just pretty much telling her. I think
- 25:09Speaker 2: she should pretty much in this moment, ask like, if
- 25:12Speaker 2: I'm going home next week, let me go home now
- 25:15Speaker 2: because I've got people I want to see.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Ye.
- 25:17Speaker 2: It felt again, it just felt awkward. It felt like
- 25:22Speaker 2: their chemistry was really bad in this moment.
- 25:27Speaker 3: And I mean, I do think, I do think she
- 25:30Speaker 3: asked all the right questions. You would ask the same questions, right,
- 25:35Speaker 3: we all would in her situation.
- 25:39Speaker 2: She asked all the right questions. He just didn't really
- 25:42Speaker 2: answer any.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Of them correct And what does that tell you?
- 25:46Speaker 2: Yeah? I mean, I think the only thing we could
- 25:48Speaker 2: have seen out of her was for her to push
- 25:51Speaker 2: that one step further and been like, you haven't answered anything, man, Like,
- 25:55Speaker 2: I've asked you everything. I've given you every opportunity to
- 25:58Speaker 2: reassure me. You don't have to tell me we're going
- 25:59Speaker 2: to get married or then I'm going to even be
- 26:01Speaker 2: the one. I haven't asked that of you. But I'm
- 26:04Speaker 2: just asking what you see in a future together and
- 26:07Speaker 2: what you like about our relationship and those types of things.
- 26:09Speaker 2: And you can't give me anything, mel Do you even
- 26:13Speaker 2: want me? Here? Would be the question I would ask, correct, like,
- 26:17Speaker 2: put it back on him, because she didn't ask anything offensive.
- 26:23Speaker 3: No, and she wasn't saying, you know, my drop dead
- 26:28Speaker 3: date is this to get married? You know, it's not
- 26:31Speaker 3: like they're having kids. It's not like she's putting pressure
- 26:34Speaker 3: on him other than the pressure he's feeling. By asking
- 26:38Speaker 3: how do you feel about it? Is? That's a dating question?
- 26:41Speaker 3: Where are we? What do you want to do? I
- 26:44Speaker 3: don't know?
- 26:45Speaker 2: She even asks, like, do you want to get married again?
- 26:48Speaker 2: He says, I don't know, well, okay, and she her
- 26:53Speaker 2: response is insightful, which I think at this point she's
- 26:57Speaker 2: very annoyed and very concerned that this relationship will be ending.
- 27:01Speaker 2: But again, that's a very fair question to ask while
- 27:05Speaker 2: you're on a show about a proposal at the end,
- 27:08Speaker 2: is mel, I'm not even saying me, do you ever
- 27:12Speaker 2: want to get married again?
- 27:14Speaker 1: Like?
- 27:14Speaker 2: Ever?
- 27:14Speaker 1: Like?
- 27:15Speaker 2: Is that even something that intrigues you?
- 27:17Speaker 3: Right? Come on? I just felt I felt that I
- 27:21Speaker 3: do this because this is how I felt watching the show.
- 27:23Speaker 3: And I assume and I know that some people were
- 27:26Speaker 3: feeling the same way. It's like, give us something, tell
- 27:29Speaker 3: us about you. We want to root for you, Mel,
- 27:32Speaker 3: And I'm sure he's a lovely guy. It's just on
- 27:35Speaker 3: the show and you're the lead we're not getting anything.
- 27:50Speaker 2: We want to root for him.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Absolutely, we don't.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Come on this show to like ruin people's lives. That's
- 27:57Speaker 2: not fun for anybody. It's not sustained for anybody. We
- 28:01Speaker 2: want to root for you, but it's hard to when
- 28:03Speaker 2: you give us nothing. And they've really focused on like
- 28:06Speaker 2: one topic that I, for whatever reason the producers think
- 28:10Speaker 2: is very interesting. But he talks to both well really Cindy,
- 28:15Speaker 2: and he compliments her on how spiritual she is. Again cool,
- 28:21Speaker 2: but there's nothing else to that. What does that mean?
- 28:24Speaker 2: Like when you say she's spiritual? This shit else? Right,
- 28:27Speaker 2: there's no backing to that is is she spiritual? So
- 28:30Speaker 2: you appreciate her generosity? Do you appreciate her faith? Do
- 28:34Speaker 2: you appreciate her resilience? Like, we don't know anything more
- 28:38Speaker 2: than that she's spiritual, which means nothing to anybody other
- 28:42Speaker 2: than that. Right, right, we're not getting anything.
- 28:45Speaker 3: We're not getting anything. And she could tell she wasn't
- 28:48Speaker 3: getting anything. At the end of the show, I thought,
- 28:52Speaker 3: I mean you could see it. She's like, Okay, thank
- 28:54Speaker 3: you for you know, answering my questions, which really he didn't.
- 29:00Speaker 3: I'm anxious to see what happens with their overnight.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I'm interested to see if it even happens. I mean,
- 29:08Speaker 2: Cindy asks, where do we go from here? Could have
- 29:10Speaker 2: been a great moment for Mel to say, let's go
- 29:12Speaker 2: to the fantasy suite and actually have a real conversation
- 29:14Speaker 2: about stuff that actually matters, and said he said, if
- 29:16Speaker 2: there's a will, there's a way. Goodness, gracious man. Him
- 29:23Speaker 2: as a lead again is like very confusing because it
- 29:25Speaker 2: just feels like he doesn't want to be there. Even
- 29:27Speaker 2: from the interviews that he did before the show even started,
- 29:30Speaker 2: it felt like this wasn't a show for him specifically
- 29:34Speaker 2: why they went through it and said, no, this is
- 29:36Speaker 2: our guy, this is who's going to bring us this
- 29:39Speaker 2: kind of rebound season. I'm confused by to this day,
- 29:43Speaker 2: I've yet to see it. I hope we get some
- 29:46Speaker 2: vulnerability next week. We do have a preview of the finale,
- 29:49Speaker 2: which is two hours long. Cindy says that she and
- 29:53Speaker 2: Mel are very well suited for each other. I guess
- 29:56Speaker 2: I'll pause here and ask you, Nancy, you've been a
- 30:00Speaker 2: part of this show. After this conversation, we just saw
- 30:04Speaker 2: the way he communicated with her, why do you think
- 30:07Speaker 2: she still thinks they're very well suited for you.
- 30:09Speaker 3: I have no idea fair enough? How could you say that?
- 30:13Speaker 3: How could she? And you know what I have to say,
- 30:16Speaker 3: I don't think she really believes that. I think she's
- 30:19Speaker 3: trying to put the right face on it, like Okay,
- 30:22Speaker 3: let's go, it's a show or at the end. And
- 30:26Speaker 3: I love, I love, I think they're both lovely women.
- 30:29Speaker 3: But I would wouldn't you be running for the hills
- 30:32Speaker 3: If he can't say anything else. That's a red flag,
- 30:37Speaker 3: and I think she is the red flag.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I think it's going to be a wake up call.
- 30:42Speaker 2: At some point. We do see the end of this preview,
- 30:46Speaker 2: Mel talking to Peg telling her he had an overnight
- 30:49Speaker 2: with Cindy and he wants to be transparent with her.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Is this a moment where he overshares that he doesn't
- 30:57Speaker 2: actually need overshare? Is this a moment where he's just
- 31:01Speaker 2: telling her, Hey, after my overnight, I realize it's you
- 31:04Speaker 2: and you only what do you think happens here?
- 31:07Speaker 3: I would have thought personally that he would have chosen Cindy,
- 31:12Speaker 3: But after his lack of communication and his feelings and
- 31:22Speaker 3: how he feels, which we know he's not sure what
- 31:24Speaker 3: he feels, I'm not sure that he will end up
- 31:31Speaker 3: with Cindy. I don't know, obviously, I'm guessing. I don't know.
- 31:35Speaker 2: It will be the most dramatic moment of this season, really,
- 31:40Speaker 2: that conversation, I think so. I mean, I think anytime
- 31:43Speaker 2: you're talking about having an overnight with somebody else on
- 31:46Speaker 2: a day that you might be proposing to the other person,
- 31:49Speaker 2: I think that's dramatic and awkward and weird. Respect him
- 31:53Speaker 2: for being honest. I don't think it's necessarily ever necessary
- 32:00Speaker 2: to do this. We've seen it happen in the past.
- 32:03Speaker 2: It never goes overwell. I feel like this is a
- 32:05Speaker 2: conversation that should happen post show. You two are hanging
- 32:09Speaker 2: out and you're like, hey, just let you know. I
- 32:11Speaker 2: want to be clear. This is what happened that you
- 32:14Speaker 2: didn't see. This is why we're sitting here today. But
- 32:19Speaker 2: doing it with a camera in your face, it just
- 32:21Speaker 2: feels like it could get weird fast. I know, I agree, Nancy.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Do you think he's going to get engaged with in
- 32:28Speaker 2: to this?
- 32:29Speaker 3: I can't see how he can. I can't see what
- 32:33Speaker 3: he's given us, how he could get engaged and feel
- 32:39Speaker 3: good about it when he's just said I'm not really sure.
- 32:42Speaker 3: He's vascillating and I he's been truthful, which is good.
- 32:47Speaker 3: I admire that, but he hasn't given anything. And I
- 32:51Speaker 3: just don't see how you can then having acted on,
- 32:56Speaker 3: you know, been on the show this way, and then
- 32:59Speaker 3: get engaged. So I would vote no. He doesn't get engaged, I.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Would vote no as well. I don't see it happening.
- 33:07Speaker 2: I don't know. I know headlines are hinting that he
- 33:10Speaker 2: does and that he said he did, but I would
- 33:13Speaker 2: be shocked if he actually does. I feel like that's
- 33:16Speaker 2: the show trying to throw us in a different direction.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Any final thoughts when it comes to this episode or
- 33:24Speaker 2: this season so far, Nancy.
- 33:27Speaker 3: This season, I was hope, you know the goal. Obviously,
- 33:31Speaker 3: I was on the Golden Bachelor first one. I'm so invested.
- 33:37Speaker 3: I love Bachelor Nation. I love the show. I feel
- 33:40Speaker 3: like it's going a different direction. I feel like, like
- 33:48Speaker 3: I thought a difference with this new show. The Golden
- 33:51Speaker 3: Bachelor two was everybody kind of looks similarly. It was
- 33:58Speaker 3: a different group obviously than my season. But I feel like,
- 34:05Speaker 3: like I said earlier, you know, there's half of them
- 34:08Speaker 3: wanted to be influencers. They wanted to like there was
- 34:11Speaker 3: more to it, and I felt like our season we
- 34:15Speaker 3: really most of us. I would say when in open
- 34:20Speaker 3: eyed hopefully we're going to meet the guy, Yay, this
- 34:24Speaker 3: is going to be great, and this one didn't feel
- 34:27Speaker 3: that way. But I don't know if it's because also
- 34:30Speaker 3: Mel didn't give back enough. You know, Gary had.
- 34:34Speaker 2: A lot to say well, and we're seeing that now
- 34:36Speaker 2: even today as we started this show out, Gary has
- 34:41Speaker 2: the ability to, at least good, bad, or indifferent, speak
- 34:46Speaker 2: openly about where he's at and what he's feeling, which
- 34:49Speaker 2: is one of the reasons why I think America endeared
- 34:52Speaker 2: their self to him and so many of you cast
- 34:55Speaker 2: members because they felt like they were in it with you.
- 34:58Speaker 2: And this season had felt distant, and I think that
- 35:01Speaker 2: comes from the lead and moves down to thin the cast.
- 35:06Speaker 2: It does feel distant, but we're still hopeful. That we
- 35:09Speaker 2: have one more week left of the season two of
- 35:13Speaker 2: The Golden Bachelor again, it's a two hour finale where
- 35:18Speaker 2: we will see who Mel might possibly choose between Peg
- 35:23Speaker 2: and Cindy. My vote is he chooses Peg, and your
- 35:28Speaker 2: vote you said he chooses Cindy.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Right, he would be the one I would pick, but
- 35:33Speaker 3: I really don't think he's going to choose either one.
- 35:36Speaker 3: That's my I don't know how he could having said
- 35:39Speaker 3: the things he said and acted the way he has.
- 35:43Speaker 2: That's very fair. Nancy. Thanks for joining us today, Thanks
- 35:46Speaker 2: for breaking this episode down. Best of luck in the
- 35:49Speaker 2: upcoming weeks as you at least maybe have a little
- 35:53Speaker 2: fun with this new mystery person and come on our
- 35:56Speaker 2: show when you're ready to tell us all about it.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Always look forward to having you.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Thank you for having me. I appreciate it. Good to
- 36:04Speaker 3: see you.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Good to see you too, Nancy. We'll be back this
- 36:07Speaker 2: week with more Bachelor Nation news, from headlines to interviews,
- 36:11Speaker 2: to breaking down the Golden Bachelor to everything happening behind
- 36:15Speaker 2: the scenes. So until next time, I've been Ben and
- 36:18Speaker 2: we'll talk to you soon.
