- 0:01SPEAKER_00: There is a famous children's book called Something Like Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: And I don't remember the author's name, but the book has been around for a long time, and I think they may have even made a movie out of it.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Well, I was thinking about that book this morning as I came into work.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: So here in the Midwest for the last couple of weeks, it's been cold and rainy and cloudy and just very gray and gloomy outside.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: And we're, I think, getting ready for the time change coming up here pretty soon, so that's going to make it even worse.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: The gray stuff doesn't really bother me.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: I just finished a client book last night, the first draft of a client book.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: I'm excited about where this is going.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: I'm excited about my podcast and my other client work and school's going well, and just a lot of things are going well right now, and I've been in a great mood lately.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: So when I came to work this morning, I came into the door, the front door of the school where I work, and uh I was in a great mood, and I was sort of joking around, and I met one of my friends uh who works here.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Uh they were on their way to somewhere, and I was joking around and I said, Oh man, it's going to be another wonderful, gray, cloudy day.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And I said it in a way where I was indicating kind of a little bit of sarcasm, like it wasn't really bothering me.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: I was just joking around.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: And in a very serious and irritable tone, this person said, It's horrible, it's horrible.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: And they were, they were truly serious about it, like they were in a horrible mood.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: And I thought of that, that book, you know, about having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: And it just reminded me that, you know, in life, we basically see what we want to see.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Some people look out and they see sunny skies, even when there's actually gray skies out there.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Uh, some people, when they're sunny skies, all they see is gray skies.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: And I'm not saying there's there's not a time and a place to have a bad day.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: You know, we all have those occasionally.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: But I think for the most part, life is a process of basically seeing what you want to see out there.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: And a lot of reason a lot of times the reason why we writers and we artists struggle is because we're not looking at things with the proper perspective.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: We're looking out there and all we see is people who don't want to read our book.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: We see we see a lack of clients, we see problems, we see frustrations, maybe we see a lack of opportunity.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: But yet, how is it that so many other people can look at it the exact same set of circumstances and facts?
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: They can see the exact same world and they see abundance everywhere, they see amazing opportunities, they see potential readers everywhere, they see clients everywhere, they see happiness and joy found in every circumstance and situation, no matter what it is.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: You know, it all really depends on what kind of glasses that we put on every morning.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Do we put on a pair of glasses that are negative, that are complaining, that are pessimistic and cynical, where we think everybody's out to get us and everybody's out to hurt us and take away from us?
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Or when we get up in the morning, do we put on these glasses that see possibility in everything?
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: They're glasses that see every person as a potential friend.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: They're glasses that see opportunity everywhere.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: They're glasses that remind us how we are in control of our life and we're in control of the things that we say yes and no to.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: And that we do have independence, we have abundance, we have opportunity.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: I just want to encourage you to put those glasses on every morning.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: It's hard right now with so much chaos here in the US at least, and really it's chaos around the world.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: I know it's hard, it's frustrating and it can be really discouraging, but you have control over your attitude.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: You have control over what you see and what you don't see.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: And I just hope that when you look at your life and you look at your circumstances, you look at the things around you, that you see opportunities because I promise you, the opportunities are there.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: They are absolutely there.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: And um they really truly are.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's how this year I've been able to get my first two ghostwriting uh client deals.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: And this time last year, I'm gonna be honest with you, I was really, really intensely discouraged.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: And I I I just thought for sure, I'm never gonna get this business off the ground.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: This is not going anywhere.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: I don't know what I'm gonna do.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: I'm just really, really uh just kind of discouraged.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: And then I got some help from people, um, not like counseling help, but not that I'm saying you shouldn't do that, uh, because I've done that before as well, and it can be really helpful.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: But uh I went through Nick Pavlitas' ghostwriting course, and it was an immense help.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: I got involved in the Total Life Freedom community that Vincent Poglisi leads, and uh been around Dan Miller and his 48 Days community for a long time.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: And man, those three things were absolutely instrumental in helping me to get a new perspective and a whole new attitude.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying my attitude's perfect every day because it's not, but because I have chosen to spend a lot of time around um high-level thinkers and really successful people, people who have great attitudes and they want to serve and they want to help people.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I spend a lot of time around people who think that way and they see the world that way, and that's really had an impact on me.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: And I hope that in some small measure, uh maybe I can be privileged to have uh a similar impact on you as well.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: So today, just know you can choose to see what you want to see.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: If you see negativity everywhere, that's what you're gonna see.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Or that if you know, if if that's what you want to see everywhere, that is what you will choose to see.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: If you choose to see positivity everywhere and opportunity and awesome things happening, then you're gonna see that as well.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: So just put on the right set of glasses today because it makes a huge difference.
