- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on you ah, I sure will. Good morning everybody
- 0:07Speaker 1: you're listening to the voice, come on dig me now,
- 0:10Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man
- 0:15Speaker 1: o man o, man. Wow. I think about all the
- 0:20Speaker 1: things God has done for me is overwhelming at times.
- 0:23Speaker 1: And I want everybody to have that feeling and to
- 0:27Speaker 1: sharing that feeling of completion and satisfaction. And the only
- 0:31Speaker 1: reason I got this, and it's the thousandth time I've
- 0:34Speaker 1: said it, is because I formed a relationship with my creator. Period.
- 0:39Speaker 1: That's it. That's that's it. I can't tell you as
- 0:43Speaker 1: anything else else. You know, I've always had a strong
- 0:45Speaker 1: work ethic. My father put that in me. My father's
- 0:49Speaker 1: conversation with me growing up was always constantly about work hard,
- 0:54Speaker 1: don't be lazy, be a man, do what you say
- 0:56Speaker 1: you're gonna do. YadA YadA, YadA, YadA YadA. Man. I
- 0:59Speaker 1: was so tired my father at times. I was going, Man,
- 1:01Speaker 1: what is with this dude? Right here? Man, every time
- 1:05Speaker 1: we have a conversation, it's got to be about work.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It's got to be about, you know, man, doing your best,
- 1:11Speaker 1: trying hard, you know, working, being honest, do what you
- 1:15Speaker 1: say you're gonna do, but that was his mission. I
- 1:19Speaker 1: can't tell you how much I appreciate that now. I
- 1:22Speaker 1: can't even I can't even put it into words when
- 1:25Speaker 1: I think about my old man and what he was
- 1:28Speaker 1: to me, and I just, man, I'm so grateful for
- 1:33Speaker 1: that balance I had in my life. And then my
- 1:36Speaker 1: father was a fighter. He fought on the weekends. You know.
- 1:41Speaker 1: My father used to come home with his with his
- 1:44Speaker 1: clothes toe off of him. He put a fresh shirt on,
- 1:47Speaker 1: and he go back. My mom used to talk about
- 1:49Speaker 1: my father fighting all the time, slick, while you are
- 1:52Speaker 1: always fighting. You know a little bit of that rubbed
- 1:55Speaker 1: off on me too. You know that kind of got
- 1:57Speaker 1: into me, and I didn't understand that either. But then
- 2:01Speaker 1: on the same turn, my mother was a Sunday school
- 2:03Speaker 1: teacher for forty years, so her conversation was never about
- 2:07Speaker 1: fighting or anything. It was all about love and understanding
- 2:10Speaker 1: and doing another that you would have to do unto you.
- 2:12Speaker 1: My mom was a Sunday school teacher, so I learned
- 2:15Speaker 1: about faith. I had to go to Sunday school, prayer meeting,
- 2:18Speaker 1: Bible study, young people meeting, choir rehearsal. You know, I
- 2:22Speaker 1: was a church man so much. I was actually looking
- 2:25Speaker 1: as there's got to be an alternative to this, you know.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I want you know I was a little kid even
- 2:31Speaker 1: I was thinking at one point maybe I ought to
- 2:33Speaker 1: looking to Hell because there's got to be something cooler
- 2:35Speaker 1: than this going on every day. It had got that
- 2:38Speaker 1: crazy for me. But the balance between those two people
- 2:42Speaker 1: created who I am today. And I want you to
- 2:45Speaker 1: understand that the things that you are in your past
- 2:49Speaker 1: have helped create who you are today. If you view
- 2:52Speaker 1: it the right way, everything that has happened to you
- 2:56Speaker 1: in your past has happened to you for a reason,
- 3:00Speaker 1: and it's usually for the good if you view it
- 3:04Speaker 1: that way. But if you, on the other hand, are
- 3:09Speaker 1: a type of person who can't move forward because you
- 3:12Speaker 1: are allowing your past to stop you from having your future,
- 3:17Speaker 1: then you, my friend, are doing a disservice to your life.
- 3:23Speaker 1: You are not honoring God's blessings. You are not taking
- 3:27Speaker 1: advantage of the gain, knowledge, wisdom, and experience of your life. Example,
- 3:35Speaker 1: if you are a woman and you are always talking
- 3:41Speaker 1: about a former relationship what he did to me. If
- 3:45Speaker 1: he had not did this to me, I wouldn't be
- 3:49Speaker 1: in this place today. I thought I had a man
- 3:53Speaker 1: Now I ain't got no man ah llah lah lah
- 3:58Speaker 1: la lah I. You know he came along and I
- 4:02Speaker 1: was doing just swell. He just came in and he
- 4:05Speaker 1: just lied to me. He lied to me, nod, he
- 4:08Speaker 1: did this to me. Then he cheated, then he left.
- 4:12Speaker 1: All of that that you're saying can very well be true.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Have you thought that maybe maybe somewhere in God's infinite wisdom,
- 4:26Speaker 1: that he knew that you had made a mistake in
- 4:31Speaker 1: picking him anyway? Maybe he knew you had made a
- 4:35Speaker 1: mistake in saying yes or I do to him anyway,
- 4:40Speaker 1: or come on, move in? And so what he did
- 4:45Speaker 1: was based on your decision now to say yes, I
- 4:50Speaker 1: do or come on, let's move in together. That was
- 4:52Speaker 1: your decision. You ain't go to him about this one.
- 4:56Speaker 1: You made this decision based on that decision, and all
- 5:00Speaker 1: the negative things that started happening. He allowed you to
- 5:04Speaker 1: get away from it. Now how you got away from it,
- 5:08Speaker 1: it's always not the choice of ours. See, you stuck
- 5:12Speaker 1: on the fact that he left, that he walked out.
- 5:16Speaker 1: But let me share this with you. When he was there,
- 5:19Speaker 1: how good was he? Tell you? How good was he
- 5:21Speaker 1: for you? See? You got to stare at you got
- 5:25Speaker 1: to look at the blessing. The blessing is. Now you
- 5:29Speaker 1: are on your own. Now you walk in your house,
- 5:33Speaker 1: ain't nobody in there with a disruptive spirit. Now you
- 5:36Speaker 1: go home. You could take your clothes off, walk around
- 5:39Speaker 1: like you want to. Now you go home, you can
- 5:42Speaker 1: sit down and look at TV or catch your breath
- 5:46Speaker 1: if you want to. Your kids don't have to see
- 5:50Speaker 1: y'all arguing all the time. Have you looked at the
- 5:53Speaker 1: blessing in it? But now if you gonna keep looking
- 5:57Speaker 1: at the negative, then guess what. Now you can't move
- 6:01Speaker 1: forward because you keep allowing your past to keep you
- 6:06Speaker 1: from moving forward. If God has brought you through it,
- 6:10Speaker 1: why don't you move on from it? Look, you got
- 6:14Speaker 1: through it, gone, he ain't coming back. He got somebody else.
- 6:19Speaker 1: So you gonna sit there and just keep tripping couts.
- 6:21Speaker 1: He gone and he got somebody else. Hey, pick yourself up.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Thank God for the blessing. It didn't feel like a blessing.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Why you was going through it and all the pain
- 6:32Speaker 1: of him leaving and the divorce and all that messed
- 6:35Speaker 1: you up? Got it? When you get through it all
- 6:37Speaker 1: of that, you ain't the first one being left You
- 6:40Speaker 1: ain't the first one being divorced. You ain't the first
- 6:43Speaker 1: one been in a bad relationship. Pick yourself up, thank
- 6:47Speaker 1: God for the blessing, and move forward in your life,
- 6:51Speaker 1: because maybe when you quit complaining, maybe you'll find out
- 6:56Speaker 1: that God has something in store for you that he
- 6:59Speaker 1: wants you to have, but he can't give it to
- 7:02Speaker 1: you if you ain't grateful. So God gives you a blessing,
- 7:05Speaker 1: but because you don't see it as a blessing, you
- 7:08Speaker 1: ain't grateful for it. Now, guess what, You steady asking
- 7:12Speaker 1: God to do something for you, but you ain't thanking
- 7:14Speaker 1: him for what he's done for you, but you steady
- 7:17Speaker 1: wanting him to do more. How does that work? How
- 7:21Speaker 1: does that work? Man? That he should keep on giving
- 7:24Speaker 1: you things when you ain't even working with the stuff
- 7:26Speaker 1: he done gave you. And I don't know, And I'm
- 7:30Speaker 1: just using that one example. It could go for me
- 7:33Speaker 1: and too, vice versa, and so on and so forth.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I'm just using that as an example. Now, why I
- 7:39Speaker 1: laid on that one so long? You have to take
- 7:41Speaker 1: that over God, that's all just sat I ain't pointing
- 7:44Speaker 1: fingers at nobody in nothing because I've been guilty on
- 7:47Speaker 1: both sides of the coin. Who am I, But I'm
- 7:51Speaker 1: just sharing with you what I had to do. I
- 7:53Speaker 1: had to learn to stop allowing my past to interfere
- 7:57Speaker 1: with my future. You're listening to The Steve Eave Harvey
- 8:00Speaker 1: Morning Show.
