Transcript
- 0:00Hello, there. It's time for most things
- 0:02Kenobi. Hello, everyone.
- 0:16Welcome to another episode of most things Kenobi.
- 0:19A podcast about Obi-Wan Kenobi and all things.
- 0:21Star Wars. I'm your host Leanne.
- 0:25And I'm your host Lauren in this week, we're going to take a look
- 0:29at the relationship between Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano.
- 0:36And we're going to come at it from different angles.
- 0:39I have a feeling because I think I've researched.
- 0:44So okay when I was trying to figure out what angle I wanted
- 0:48to take in this discussion, I think I took the darker route.
- 0:55Like, I don't know why. It just seems to come naturally
- 0:58to me, but it ended up being, I guess.
- 1:01I'll say I'll phrase it like this.
- 1:04I ended up exploring the more, the more difficult side of Sokka
- 1:11and Obi-Wan, because like any family, which her Anakin and
- 1:17Obi-Wan were yeah, there are ups and downs, and I look at Obi-Wan
- 1:23as a father, figure to both Anakin and her Or like the uncle
- 1:29with to unruly children in the family that he has to babysit
- 1:35and you know here you can have them back you know when they're
- 1:39done. So yeah God give them back the
- 1:42end of the day, except you never gets to give them back and I
- 1:44don't know, would even if you wanted to.
- 1:47But so I'm interested to hear. Your take on their relationship
- 1:52because it's definitely good and and I'll say not so good because
- 1:55it's not bad. There are moments where I feel a
- 2:00little disappointed sometimes in both of them for different
- 2:04reasons and it's a it's a hard pill to swallow because I Revere
- 2:11them both so much. You know, it's very true.
- 2:15You know the beautiful thing about Ahsoka is she is the
- 2:18balance between Anakin and Obi-Wan.
- 2:21Yes, I wrote that down. Oh, did you?
- 2:23Oh, of course you did it say, yay.
- 2:27I mean, it's obvious, right? Because what she becomes is, she
- 2:31has the impulsiveness and the, you know, we'll go to rescue
- 2:35anyone. In a moment's notice, you know,
- 2:38the Loyalty that Anakin had, you know, for the ones he cared for
- 2:43and then he also had the fortitude and the thoughtfulness
- 2:47and them. Hmm.
- 2:47Let's think about this for just a Split Second.
- 2:50Our than Anakin would part of Obi-Wan, you know, definitely, I
- 2:55think that's that was mostly the approach I had with.
- 2:58My analysis was the way she takes the best of both of them.
- 3:03Hmm. And she like you just said she
- 3:07has like, Anakin strength. Yeah, obviously.
- 3:10Yeah. And and the, the need to help
- 3:13people because there's so many times in Clone Wars where she's
- 3:17ready to help and open one pumps, the brakes and It's like
- 3:20if we help will make things worse.
- 3:23Yeah. Like we step back and see the
- 3:26larger picture, which is something by the end of quote
- 3:29Wars, she's able to and like Beyond, you know, well beyond
- 3:32Clone Wars because obviously, she's still going, she is much
- 3:38more like, Obi-Wan in that sense where she is able to see the
- 3:43bigger picture and not just hyper focus on what's right in
- 3:47front of her. And I think that's one of the
- 3:49coolest. Parts of Ahsoka and Obi-Wan, I
- 3:52actually both of them because they're, they're both obviously
- 3:55fucking bad asses right there. Really fucking good at combat
- 4:00and strategy. But then to also know when you
- 4:03need to step back from that, which is something Anakin
- 4:05struggled with a lot. And I think Ahsoka really grew
- 4:08into it which I mean, it's part of her character Arc, we see it,
- 4:12she matures more so than Anakin ever did.
- 4:17Yeah, yeah, into this, Very even wise character that I love.
- 4:27And sometimes, you know, she said that doesn't mean she's not
- 4:30passionate just because she's very, you know, steady all the
- 4:34time. So you could see the passion
- 4:36that she has and, and the emotion, well Obi-Wan is
- 4:41Obi-Wan's passionate. We see it in the Kenobi show.
- 4:44He's very passionate but he still holds that level of
- 4:48consistent, like think before you you know, think this through
- 4:52But still, you know, has a reason a passion behind what
- 4:55he's doing. And obviously, you see that in a
- 4:58Sokka. I guarantee you will see that in
- 5:01the show because she's more mature in the show coming up.
- 5:05Yeah. When I still like referencing
- 5:08back to our James Arnold Taylor interview, I loved when he said
- 5:12that about Obi-Wan that he as a performer.
- 5:16Sees 0, b. 1 is having a lot going on internally that we
- 5:19never see because he's always making Making that choice to
- 5:23take the steady path, the like, more thoughtful path of, you
- 5:27know, being more diplomatic not rushing in even though his
- 5:30Instinct might be to be that way.
- 5:33He has learned to behave, you know, with more control and
- 5:38that's the difference, right? Ahsoka learned and it can just
- 5:41never learned, right? He couldn't help and be like,
- 5:45what is that Meme? That, like, you can sum up all
- 5:47of the prequels with Obi-Wan going and it could wait, know
- 5:50exactly. I mean, Ireland are right.
- 5:54I have a pin right here, from one of our friends.
- 5:58She made the pin, but it's Yoda's.
- 6:00Quote. Is it an has pin?
- 6:03Yeah. Hi Anna.
- 6:05The greatest teacher failure is but I like have that up here,
- 6:08because, okay, and I can knock knock who's there.
- 6:13Failure over and over. And over in the man, still
- 6:15didn't learn until it was until the very end will say.
- 6:19Finally had his chance, but Ahsoka It just took took a whole
- 6:23long time, but he got there. You know what fashionably late?
- 6:32But Soca in all of her wiseness, her wit her.
- 6:37The what the wisdom she gained, from a young age, watching a
- 6:41mess and a hotter mess as her to teachers.
- 6:45She said, hmm, I'm gonna pick from this assortment of mess and
- 6:50take the best of both worlds. She did and there are a lot of
- 6:57really nice moments between Obi-Wan and Ahsoka in this.
- 7:02But yeah, I did notice. And when I say in this, I mean
- 7:05Clone Wars because obviously, that's it, right?
- 7:09That's the only time we see Obi-Wan and Ahsoka because they
- 7:13op1 show did not bring ass. Okay, into it at all, they can
- 7:18put half but we've covered that. Yeah, I do.
- 7:22I do notice that and maybe it's in a stark contrast to Anakin
- 7:27because it's such a stark contrast that Obi-Wan keeps
- 7:31Ahsoka a little bit. At arm's length, whereas her and
- 7:36Anakin are like brother sister. But if you take the kadavo arc,
- 7:41hiki Anakin keeps her out of his past with slavery and where he
- 7:47came from, and it's Obi-Wan, who has to talk to her.
- 7:51Yeah. And let her in.
- 7:54So, and she turns to him, when Anakin pushes her away, she
- 7:57turns to op1, specifically and Obi-Wan, is able to like, inform
- 8:02her with without disrespecting. Anakin correct privacy.
- 8:08You know, he tells her just enough so she gets it.
- 8:12Yeah. And and she knows that she can
- 8:14go to Obi-Wan for that, which I think is great because to be a
- 8:18good leader, you have to have trust and I think that's one of
- 8:21the things that Obi-Wan has Effortlessly with yeah, his
- 8:26clones, his Padawan, his former Padawan, you know, who whatever
- 8:31labels you want to put on these. I mean, he just people trust him
- 8:35because he's steady, he's consistent.
- 8:38I mean, you can say a lot of things about Obi-Wan, but you
- 8:41can't say he's not consistent. You know, that's true.
- 8:44He's very consistent. Yes.
- 8:48So I guess that leads, by example, I think that doesn't
- 8:51ask, he doesn't ask of others, what he Do himself and I think
- 8:57that's why we see so much loyalty from like Cody and you
- 9:01know, it's easy to forget to that 0 b 1 is obviously he's a
- 9:07Jedi master but if you look at his relationship with everyone
- 9:11including Anakin and Ahsoka in the Grand Army, he's everyone's
- 9:17commanding officer. Yes he is.
- 9:19He is he's the leader of the seventh Sky Court which is The
- 9:2450 First is part of that. So, Obi-Wan is actually the
- 9:27grand general of like, multiple Legions.
- 9:31That's kind of hot, right? He just it doesn't seem like it
- 9:36because he's just so friendly and you know, not imposed it
- 9:41casually. Yes, I don't know, he's just a
- 9:47badass but you're right. He does I mean there's an
- 9:49example of someone not letting a title go to his head.
- 9:52He's just You know, Obi-Wan, I can go to Obi-Wan for this, you
- 9:57know. Yeah, he can be both things.
- 10:00Yeah, right. Like he can be the Diplomatic
- 10:03Jedi Master with status, or you could just be someone you can
- 10:06trust and like turn to in a moment and I think Ahsoka is
- 10:11actually that way. Also mmm.
- 10:14She she's kind of aloof in Rebels and and man do.
- 10:20Yeah. You know, like yeah, she's she's
- 10:23not letting anyone even grow goo.
- 10:24She doesn't want to trade him, I don't blame her.
- 10:28Look at what the fuck happened. And that's what I want to talk
- 10:31about. Actually want to talk about
- 10:35Ahsoka leaving the order and Obi-Wan's involvement in it
- 10:38because it's at the very end of what we've seen as far as their
- 10:44ship and Anakin during this Arc, does Anakin things during this
- 10:51Arc. His character is exactly the
- 10:55same through the whole he still rushes to her Aid wants to be
- 10:59her friend. Come talk to me.
- 11:02This isn't right? You guys are, you know, you set
- 11:05this up as a formality for the trial and all this stuff.
- 11:08He's like how headed and and passionate and a non Ahsoka side
- 11:12and wants to see Ax and you know, all this stuff and Obi-Wan
- 11:18is surprising in that he's caught in a hard spot.
- 11:25He's all of these titles. We just talked about and he's on
- 11:29the council and he knows it. But he knows Ahsoka is, well, he
- 11:36doesn't argue against what Anakin saying either, and he
- 11:39never says anything about Ahsoka during her trial, you know, in
- 11:43the order when the order is, you know, before she goes before,
- 11:47the chancellor, he doesn't see his mysteriously quiet, and then
- 11:51he defends her in private. And he gets voted down.
- 11:56And I think he should have said something in front of everyone
- 12:02when he had the chance, when Anakin kind of stepped up and
- 12:04said, hey wait a second. You already you already have
- 12:07your mind's made up or whatever, whatever the dialogue is.
- 12:11Of all the people he could have had the most clout.
- 12:13That's thank you. Yes and so It's this thing where
- 12:20Obi-Wan is consistent, love them or hate them for it.
- 12:24He's right gonna play by that code.
- 12:27He's gonna play by the rules. Even if he knows in his heart
- 12:31like this probably isn't a Sokka Anakin's probably, right.
- 12:36And maybe we shouldn't make a harsh decision, but he doesn't
- 12:38say anything until like afterwards when they're kind of
- 12:42talking amongst themselves and then I love on the flip side,
- 12:47all the Happens, right? And then we get to season seven
- 12:51and they have their interaction in the hallway there.
- 12:53Where he's like, we gotta go get the chancellor and he's been
- 12:56captured by Grievous or whatever and she's just kind of spats
- 13:00with them. Like, oh, political, you're
- 13:01going political again is essentially, yep.
- 13:05Always the chancellor. Yeah, and it's like the clouds.
- 13:08Have finally dissipated from her eyes.
- 13:12Yeah. And it hasn't from them and
- 13:15these are her old like she went to them for advice.
- 13:19She went to them to confide in for for assistance for
- 13:24wayfinding if you will and and now she's on the other side.
- 13:28Like I don't know, it's very interesting because Obi-Wan
- 13:33says, That's not fair when she's accusing him of of going to the
- 13:41going to get Palpatine and and doing political stuff and she's
- 13:44like I'm not trying to be. They weren't fair to her during
- 13:48the trial. Yeah that was I don't know if
- 13:53ironic is the right word for ob1 human.
- 13:57Who's not fairs like? Okay bro.
- 13:59Well I wonder if they wrote it in there on purpose because
- 14:02everyone knows. Probably oh my gosh and so this
- 14:08is the this is the complication of Ahsoka and Obi-Wan because at
- 14:12the end of the day Obi-Wan is still like Master teacher
- 14:17Commander General whatever and he still like two or three
- 14:20levels above Ahsoka, no matter what.
- 14:24Yeah, and he really can't put personal.
- 14:27I also think to go with that like Satine taught him, you
- 14:32can't put personal above your duty because like he I feel like
- 14:37he did that to try and save her and of galaxies slapped him
- 14:40down. Really?
- 14:41Are she was killed? Yes.
- 14:42Yeah. You know, after that, he has
- 14:46that conversation with Anakin about it's during that Rush
- 14:49Clovis thing. That happens in the season 6,
- 14:53the like loss. Most missions or whatever.
- 14:55Yeah. And he says, you know, your
- 14:56feelings are normal but you really have got to be careful
- 14:59about putting your emotion first and it's like cuz they can be
- 15:03used against you to harm the people you care about.
- 15:06And I feel like after that, he's really got everyone at arm's
- 15:09length. Yes.
- 15:10He's just gonna do his fucking duty and stick with the code of
- 15:15the council. And well, isn't that exactly how
- 15:18Ahsoka turns out she keeps everyone at aren't?
- 15:21She's gone through these things. Same as Obi-Wan.
- 15:25And she's like, nope, Gonna Keep you at arm's.
- 15:27Length, not forming a bond. Not going to teach grow Goo, not
- 15:30going to deal with this. I'm gonna go and save people and
- 15:32peace out. Yeah.
- 15:35And I think there's a lot more similarities there between her
- 15:40and, and Obi-Wan than meets the eye.
- 15:43And I think it's a delayed very obviously on the surface, she's
- 15:47like a mannequin, right? But the delayed similarities of
- 15:50her. An Obi-Wan come later in the
- 15:52game. Yeah, I 100% agree with that,
- 15:56especially, and everything. Basically post Revenge of the
- 15:59Sith. That's where they're really
- 16:03distilled down to who they are right by that point because they
- 16:06don't have as many external pulls, right?
- 16:09Like only ones no longer General, he's not even got any
- 16:12friends, you know. He's just him at his most like,
- 16:15basic self and so, is she there both these abandoned people just
- 16:20in the Galaxy who now have to choose their path?
- 16:23For the first time and they've never been faced with that kind
- 16:26of choice before. Man, I think you're so right
- 16:31that especially at that point, you start to see how Sokka is
- 16:34very much, like, Obi-Wan and her sense of control and being able
- 16:42to, I don't know. I kind of wish we got a
- 16:47conversation. Maybe not, you know, on film or
- 16:52TV or whatever. But I would love to know what
- 16:54their conversation Obi-Wan and ahsoka's talk would have been
- 16:58had they met after all of this, maybe even before he meets up
- 17:02with Darth Vader and everything is revealed.
- 17:04Like I just want to know, do they both apart?
- 17:09Would they both apologized to each other?
- 17:11But they both say you were right to each other.
- 17:14Yeah, because yeah, it's a good question.
- 17:17I think after everything that happened, I think Ahsoka would
- 17:20look back and say, you know what, I get what Obi-Wan did now
- 17:25I get why? Yeah, and I would hope that
- 17:29well, okay. So I have a question for you.
- 17:31I heard, you know, the crystal crisis on utapau that.
- 17:36Yeah. The extra episode that was never
- 17:39finished, but it's still technically Cannon and there's
- 17:41that conversation between Anakin and Obi-Wan about us, okay?
- 17:44Leaving the order. Yeah, so there's this line that
- 17:48I have always interpreted one way and I just heard someone
- 17:51else interpret it completely opposite and it makes me wonder
- 17:55what your thoughts are on it. Okay, it's when Obi-Wan says
- 17:59that a Jedi part of being a Jedi is not letting emotion Cloud,
- 18:04your decision or your judgment. And that's exactly what Ahsoka
- 18:07did even in her moment of, like, even in her greatest moment of
- 18:12need or something like that. And I always thought That meant
- 18:15that she didn't let judge like emotion Cloud, her judgment that
- 18:19she decided to leave the order because she knew she needed
- 18:23distance and time, but someone else interpreted as Obi-Wan
- 18:27blaming Ahsoka and being like a not very good.
- 18:30Jedi she left under heightened emotion.
- 18:33She let her motion decide that she was going to leave and I
- 18:36never took it that way. But what are your thoughts on
- 18:39it? No, I can't see.
- 18:41Number one, I can't see Obi-Wan. Being vindictive like that.
- 18:46Like what would he gain by saying that especially to Anakin
- 18:51right? As Anakin was saying that she
- 18:53was wrong that? Like, she kind of let him down
- 18:57by leaving. Well, yeah, that's Anakin being
- 19:00like me. Me me me me all the way home,
- 19:01you know? So look what it did to me.
- 19:04Look how she left me. Look at what had she left me
- 19:06with, you know. Yeah.
- 19:09Yeah, I don't know. I never would have thought of
- 19:11Obi-Wan thinking that way about a Soca in such a Negative term.
- 19:17I always took it as he respected her decision because she made it
- 19:24on her own. She didn't need any adult
- 19:27deciding for her. That was what was right for her
- 19:29and she made that decision. Yeah.
- 19:31And that seems more like an Obi-Wan answer and he would use
- 19:36if Anakin's emotional and and I'm Pointed her.
- 19:39And she left me whatever, which kind of goes against him.
- 19:43Standing there watching her go. It's kind of the, I always felt
- 19:47like they left with this undercurrent of understanding of
- 19:49like you get me right and he says, yeah, but it's never
- 19:53spoken, yes, but it's always that.
- 19:57Okay. You agree to go your separate
- 19:59ways with a partner, right? And it's all hunky-dory and you
- 20:02know you're not good for each other, whatever.
- 20:04But then like a month later like why the fuck did I let them go?
- 20:08What could I do? Done.
- 20:09I bet you it's the same mindset and I can sit here a couple
- 20:12months later, like, yeah, what could I have done and why did
- 20:15she do that? And why didn't we try harder?
- 20:17And, you know, all these things that I'm trying to think like an
- 20:20Anakin think, like an anaconda, or don't, but I could see,
- 20:27Obi-Wan, taking that and trying to turning into a lesson for
- 20:30Anakin so that would fit into that.
- 20:34Not not the vindictive, but the not the accusatory.
- 20:38Right? But the well Anakin dot dot dot
- 20:42and later in episode 7, one of my favorite moments but episode
- 20:477, season 7, yes. Season 7 episode 10 is one of my
- 20:58favorite interactions between Obi-Wan and Ahsoka and that's
- 21:02when he tells her that Anakin's on this special Mission, you
- 21:06know, to spy on the chancellor. And Ahsoka says, asking me to
- 21:12help convince Anakin that the council is, got his best
- 21:16interests in mind. You're asking the wrong person,
- 21:17right? Over says, that's why I'm asking
- 21:20you. Yeah, which implies that.
- 21:22Like he also agrees with her, that this is a terrible thing
- 21:28that they're making Anakin do. But it also makes me wonder like
- 21:30is he asking her to maybe convince Anakin like if this is
- 21:35wrong for you, maybe you could step away like a soak.
- 21:38Oh, did ya like instead of turning to the dark side maybe
- 21:42yeah. Just just walk away.
- 21:45Don't do it. But you know I think Obi-Wan at
- 21:48that point their motives may be so much friction between them.
- 21:51Yeah. And enough of these moments that
- 21:55Obi-Wan thought that Anakin I'm sorry.
- 21:57That Ahsoka could be the only one to speak to to Anakin and
- 22:02that raises all these things of like what if anak, what if
- 22:05Ahsoka had gone to Mustafar with?
- 22:08Can instead of Obi-Wan and they had that fight their eye that
- 22:12would have ended badly. I don't think Ahsoka what it
- 22:15came out on top. I don't either as good as she
- 22:19was. I think that too many emotions.
- 22:22Yeah. And like the fact that ob1 was
- 22:25perfectly matched him. The whole time they're fighting,
- 22:28they couldn't even get a blow on each other they said because
- 22:31they're like perfect mirrors to each other.
- 22:33That's so poetically, beautiful and heartbreaking.
- 22:37I know we should do like a whole episode on the Mustafar fight,
- 22:40because it's fucking awesome. Actually, we should do that.
- 22:44Yes. And talk about why Mustafar is
- 22:49just awful, but systematically great for a final battle when I
- 22:56really like how it's the opposite of their battle in the
- 23:02Kenobi series. You know, it's like oh yeah, oh
- 23:05yeah, the coat. Other schemes are flipped and
- 23:08it's this Barren. Dry dead landscape as opposed to
- 23:13Muzaffar which is this like Dynamic lava burning crazy
- 23:17changing landscape you could think of the lava churning and
- 23:21burning as the emotion and then by the time they get to where
- 23:24they are in Kenobi. It's cold.
- 23:26Yeah, it's gone dead. So yeah, it's just, I know some
- 23:31people didn't like that environment, but I really
- 23:34thought it was a really nice symbol.
- 23:37What was going on in their internal landscape?
- 23:40It had to be that dramatic. It had to be.
- 23:47It just had to be. We're talking about a Skywalker
- 23:51and Kenobi, it has to be drama please.
- 23:55Anyway, we're off on a tangent now, but basically what I'm
- 24:01saying is, I don't think a circle would have made it out of
- 24:03Mustafar and I think it's because you got too emotional.
- 24:06Will people. Now when she battles Vader in
- 24:10Rebels, She's grown, she's had that distance.
- 24:14She's done all that, you know. Yeah, much different.
- 24:17Yeah. Plus there's all that, you know,
- 24:20in Between Worlds business that nobody knows anything about
- 24:25whatever. I know it's, I'm confused.
- 24:29Yeah. So, we were supposed to pick
- 24:34favorite moments, right? Yeah.
- 24:35Well, mine is. I told you mine already one of
- 24:38my favorites and it's just such as we did.
- 24:40It's just such a small moment, my moment takes place on mortis
- 24:46and it's just the tiny moment where ahsoka's fixing the ship
- 24:50and agins gone off to be evil and she's fixing the ship or
- 24:56whatever and Obi-Wan comes back and hands her a cup of calf.
- 25:00And it's, yeah, she has Goggles, you know, the working goggles.
- 25:04And she looks so badass in the she really does.
- 25:07And I kind of like mechanic Ahsoka.
- 25:10But yeah, it's just such a nice like homie thing like here.
- 25:15I know you've been working have a sip of this, it'll warm you
- 25:18up, you know, it's the sharing, he needed, he knows her needs.
- 25:22He's aware. He's you know, emotionally
- 25:24intelligent enough to see like perhaps she's distressed.
- 25:27Here's a cup of something, you know, and I like that about
- 25:30Obi-Wan He's his, his care. Level is more subtle than like
- 25:35Anakin swooping in and being, like, do you need a hug or
- 25:38something, you know, do you need me to pour salt?
- 25:43Yeah, Force hug you? I don't know.
- 25:47I just think it's a sweet moment.
- 25:49It's not a very big moment, but it's a sweet moment and I've
- 25:52always liked. It was such a little touch that
- 25:54they didn't have to add. Yeah, one of mine is actually
- 25:58from the same park because it's, there's a lot of, because
- 26:03Anakin's off doing his like tormented, you know, yes
- 26:06Darkseid thing, yes. So V1 and Ahsoka are more
- 26:09together and that Arc than another ones.
- 26:12But I love the moment where the father is making, Anakin choose
- 26:17between only one and Ahsoka and only one says save a Sokka like
- 26:21he's so selfless that he's like Don't even question it.
- 26:26Like just save your patawad. Yeah, I love that.
- 26:29It's such a, it's like one line and that's it.
- 26:32But I love that he saw on assuming with how like vital he
- 26:35is though, it'll be one. Yeah, yeah, I know he doesn't
- 26:41even think about it and but in that moment, even he is the one
- 26:46who gets through Anakin's emotional state and says, like
- 26:51the planet is the force like use that, yes.
- 26:56If you're not going to make a choice, here's what you could
- 26:58possibly do. And and I also wonder if he
- 27:04says, like save Ahsoka because that would be harder for him to
- 27:08lose his Padawan, then to lose his master.
- 27:11I don't know. And then he does.
- 27:12Anyway, oh, Star Wars, this pain?
- 27:19That's awful. Do you have another moment?
- 27:23I do I have one that's super random kinda and it's from an
- 27:29arc I hardly ever watch because it's just kind of one of those
- 27:33devastating arcs were at the end.
- 27:35It's just really sad that onderon orc.
- 27:38Oh yeah, oh yeah. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 27:43Steela and saw gerrera. Yeah, so I like there's this
- 27:49moment where steela and saw and all their, I don't know if
- 27:52they're insurgents are partisans or whatever, they're calling
- 27:55themselves at this point and time, but they go through the
- 27:58city and start kind of making a show of force and then they all
- 28:03regroup, and come back, while the Jedi are just kind of
- 28:06observing, while the soldiers are doing this, and they open
- 28:08back and regroup, and Obi-Wan turns, to a Soca in front of
- 28:13everyone and says, what did You observe?
- 28:15Padawan and she says, the people were afraid.
- 28:20And I love that moment because he already knows the answer, but
- 28:25he wants to see if she's been, you know, learning and
- 28:28observing. But it's also said in this way
- 28:31where he kind of respects her opinion.
- 28:33So it's, it's kind of like, he knows that she knows, but he
- 28:36wants her to say it out loud so that everyone else in the room
- 28:38can hear it and coming from like the younger person.
- 28:42The student, observed it even so that maybe that has more weight
- 28:46with the soldiers, listening, you know?
- 28:48I don't know. I just really At that moment.
- 28:51Yeah, that's a good one. That's that Ark is troublesome.
- 28:57It's heartbreaking, honestly, it's it's so important though in
- 29:02so many ways. Yeah, it it and it for her
- 29:05especially because she's supposed to be doing her Duty
- 29:09and this is after a bunch of other like really hard because
- 29:12this is Steve season 5. So she's already been through a
- 29:15lot and she's having to deal with Lux bonteri at the same
- 29:19time. So it's like yeah, she's it's
- 29:22like the first time. She needs to really do her Duty
- 29:24and ignore that super emotional part.
- 29:26And she struggles with it, but ultimately, I think she kind of
- 29:29overcomes that at the end. So, I still don't know how I
- 29:34feel about him and the addition of him I'm really torn on it
- 29:38honestly. Same sometimes I like it and
- 29:42sometimes I'm like I know. Is this?
- 29:45Yeah. Okay get it.
- 29:47But I don't I like when they first introduced them, because
- 29:52he is a foil for Sokka, you know, he's kind of like, well,
- 29:55I'm a separatist and I think I'm right, and you're a Republican
- 29:59and you think you're right? Or are they called for
- 30:01publication? I actually don't know, the
- 30:04people of the Republic. Yeah, but it's the first time
- 30:08she starts to question. There's only one point of view,
- 30:13you know, that there's actually multiple point of views that are
- 30:17valid. Just like you've always said,
- 30:18like even Stormtroopers thought they were doing the right thing.
- 30:21Yeah. So I mean yeah I like his
- 30:24character for that but then the whole like romantic side of it
- 30:28what was always questionable if was it was never like an overt
- 30:33thing. I guess I don't know.
- 30:35Maybe it is over it. I don't really remember it too
- 30:37well because I don't like the episodes that he's in usually.
- 30:40So I I don't watch it. I don't think it's over.
- 30:43I don't think it's over. I think I think she's just a
- 30:46child not a child. I'll say she's an adolescent
- 30:50with struggling with her emotions as all adolescents do.
- 30:55Yeah. You know?
- 30:57Yeah, yeah. Maybe you're growing up around
- 31:01Obi-Wan and Anakin and you fall for Lux?
- 31:04What. Yeah, what is that?
- 31:06Come on. Get out with that hair.
- 31:15Sorry, Luxe. My God.
- 31:19That hair is nothing to brag about.
- 31:20Anyway, what are we talking about?
- 31:23Do you have another one? Well they're all dumb.
- 31:26They're all tiny moments. There's that's good though.
- 31:29I think the small moments are the most telling sometimes I
- 31:34like when they do they land on Felucia in the bouncy balls.
- 31:39Oh my God, I was thinking of including this moment.
- 31:44Yes, I love that. Ho Lucia that whole scene when
- 31:48in the ship, the ship is crashing.
- 31:50They, they emergency pool, they land in the bouncy balls, which
- 31:55I think is a great idea. I don't know why we don't make
- 31:57something like this, you know, I thought the same.
- 32:00It's really clever. I don't know, maybe someday.
- 32:03They will come up with instead of parachutes.
- 32:06We get bouncy balls. Yeah, like I'm sure there's a
- 32:09weight equals mass something problem in there somewhere with
- 32:13the amount of force exerted if you're bouncing Cantera.
- 32:16But a scientist could figure that out.
- 32:18That's what I'm just not me. Where's my panel from London?
- 32:24Someone on that panel can figure this out but when they get out
- 32:29of the bouncy balls and they're dusting themselves off and
- 32:31they're trying to figure out where they're going and a so,
- 32:33Just kind of looking at them like what the fuck am I dealing
- 32:35with here? Yes, you know, and there's like
- 32:37animals and creatures around. She's like, ah, maybe we should
- 32:40get going like but they're so, it's so funny.
- 32:44They're great through the entire episode Ahsoka and her minute
- 32:48many interactions throughout that entire episode with Obi-Wan
- 32:52her observing Obi-Wan, you know, her adding her two cents in when
- 32:58they're trying to figure out what to do with those villagers
- 33:00and stuff. I don't know.
- 33:01It's the little moments. That kind of build a rapport
- 33:05that her and Obi-Wan have an understanding and a trust a
- 33:09level of trust and a level of respect.
- 33:13And that's why when we get to the wrong Jedi or the Jedi, that
- 33:18knew too much or whatever that whole sequence is of episodes
- 33:21where she leaves. It's so much more heartbreaking
- 33:23that he didn't speak up sooner, or couldn't win the Jedi Council
- 33:28over. Yeah, yes.
- 33:31But either both. Yeah.
- 33:33I It's, it's actually a really heartbreaking relationship Arc.
- 33:37That you think I've had, I've had people describe
- 33:42relationships that fall apart in this way, and I think it's
- 33:45actually really smart. It's like you're putting
- 33:47deposits in the bank and then the day you need all the money.
- 33:50There's no money in there. Oh, well, that's good.
- 33:55Just like, Oh, I thought we were building something and then when
- 33:58I needed it, it's not there and really good, right?
- 34:02Just really, that's it. said it is, but you know, It's, that's
- 34:09what it feels like. You know, if you look at the
- 34:11very beginning of the Clone Wars movie, when ahsoka's first
- 34:15introduced, all the way to season 7, you know, it's quite a
- 34:20painful Arc for this bright-eyed bushy-tailed, child thinking
- 34:25that there's a bright future coming.
- 34:29It's that thing, where if you knew your end, maybe you
- 34:32wouldn't even begin, you know. Yeah buts.
- 34:35I'm glad we don't know because the Ernie is what makes the end.
- 34:39Yeah. Mmm.
- 34:41Is what makes the end fill in the blank?
- 34:43However, you want worthwhile? Yeah, worth it meaningful.
- 34:50Whatever the importance of living in the moment, right?
- 34:53Because if you're worrying about the future or Reminiscing on the
- 34:56past, your, you could be in a really dark place.
- 34:59It's always safest to be in the here and now.
- 35:02Yes. And yeah, that's a great moment,
- 35:05though. I loved.
- 35:06I thought of that too, and especially that scene because
- 35:08Anakin is leaning against the wall.
- 35:11But Ahsoka is sitting at the table with Obi-Wan like actively
- 35:14involved in listening and learning.
- 35:16Yes. And I noticed that too and the
- 35:18The thing is that's her diplomatic side.
- 35:21Anakin's almost like nervous energy, but those two are
- 35:27literally listening. Trying to figure out and I like
- 35:29that. There's a parallel between those
- 35:31two instead of her, an anicut, I think it's a well-balanced,
- 35:35she's well-balanced. Yeah, I like that too.
- 35:39I said, I kind of love to the interaction and holocron Heist,
- 35:42which is in season two right at the beginning.
- 35:45Because that whole episode is her in the library on Duty.
- 35:49Well, that's true. Yeah, at the beginning.
- 35:52It's because she doesn't listen to 0, b, 1.
- 35:55And he's actually yelling at her over the Comm link, saying
- 35:58you're putting your troops at risk is true.
- 36:00You will get on this ship. Yeah.
- 36:03And she just she needs like five more minutes or so we can do
- 36:06this or whatever. Yeah.
- 36:08And it's his first like lesson to her of.
- 36:11You're not looking at the bigger picture, you're looking at
- 36:14what's right in front of you and you're not seeing.
- 36:16Yeah, that there is more at Play And I like it because it's so
- 36:21like, oh, we won and Angry Dad bowed, it is, you know, trust
- 36:27the adult. He's he knows more than you do
- 36:29kid, I've been through it and that's the thing with a
- 36:32commander. The commander is looking at
- 36:34everything and Ahsoka only sees this much of a much larger.
- 36:39Yeah. You gotta, you gotta trust your
- 36:41your general for that. Yeah.
- 36:43Well in she's a she's a child. Yeah it's one of those moments
- 36:47where I think. This is the wrong kind of person
- 36:50would be humiliated by that and Ahsoka is she's ashamed but she
- 36:55also learns humility because of it actually makes her a better
- 36:59Jedi overall. So it's it was kind of cool to
- 37:03see her growing pains, you know, that we actually get to see her
- 37:06making mistakes. Well, who can't relate with
- 37:08that. How many times have we thought
- 37:10we knew better than the person instructing us and it came back
- 37:13to bite Us in the ass, right? Right.
- 37:15Everyone has had that experience at.
- 37:17Pretty sure the Point is to learn from it.
- 37:20Anakin every now and then he did, but mostly no.
- 37:29Yeah. Me he was great except when he
- 37:31lost control. Yeah that's kind of like rule
- 37:34number one or something. I love them permanent Loose
- 37:39Cannon, don't care, love them or do.
- 37:42Yeah. Look, they're one big happy
- 37:45family, who eventually become very unhappy, but eventually
- 37:49become happy again, okay? Or just just mildly satisfied.
- 37:54Yeah, mildly satisfied. A great big potluck.
