- 0:14Hello and welcome to Arguing Ever After.
- 0:16I am Luke and this is my wonderful wife, Amber.
- 0:19Hello. Together we are the Lord and
- 0:21Lady who lock horns. The count and Countess of
- 0:23contention. The Duke and Duchess of
- 0:25Disagreement. And the king and queen of
- 0:27quarrels. We have been together since
- 0:30shortly after the invention of Hershey's Cookies and Cream.
- 0:33In this entertainment only podcast, we will bicker about
- 0:36all things big and small and the audience gets the final say on
- 0:39who the winner is. We do not claim to be
- 0:41relationship experts by any means.
- 0:44We will debate lots of things, many of which are submitted by
- 0:46our listeners. So if you have something you
- 0:48want us to quarrel about, send it to
- 0:50arguingeverafter@gmail.com. Perhaps it's completely
- 0:53unscientific method of letting the masses decide who is right
- 0:56can help solve your fight before you even have it.
- 1:00And so here we are with new microphones.
- 1:04New microphones, Fancy ones. We really hope sound OK on the
- 1:08other end. It should sound better than what
- 1:09we had before, which was 1 little bitty microphone kind of
- 1:12far away. Well the last episode it was
- 1:14nuns, so hopefully it sounds better than no microphone.
- 1:17Agreed. But if you think our last
- 1:19episode sounded better, that's bad.
- 1:21We've already like put a huge budget into these little
- 1:24microphones. You ever wanted to use the
- 1:26Internet for tiny Bluetooth microphones?
- 1:28You might find these and they're less than $40.
- 1:31Yes, yes. So you know, big investment just
- 1:34for for you all for your listening pleasure.
- 1:38Yeah, but it's kind of exciting to have something new.
- 1:41It is think we all like new stuff.
- 1:43We do. Speaking of new stuff, we have
- 1:46new followers. We do have new followers.
- 1:49Will you tell us where they're from?
- 1:51Well, so the first one I even need to look because I have a
- 1:55well, we have a special connection to this place is
- 1:58North Carolina. North Carolina is a beautiful
- 2:01place. Is a beautiful place.
- 2:03We went there, I don't remember how many years ago, to the Outer
- 2:07Banks. The Outer Banks is a small train
- 2:10of barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina where many
- 2:15people would know, well, maybe not the place, but what happened
- 2:18there when the Wright brothers invented the airplane?
- 2:23You know what didn't put that together?
- 2:25But you know, what I do remember is that they had wild horses out
- 2:29there. They did, but only on the
- 2:31northernmost island of Corolla. Oh, is that how you pronounce
- 2:34it? It is.
- 2:34Was I always pronouncing it wrong when we were?
- 2:36There, well, we both thought it was Corolla like the car, but we
- 2:38were wrong. Right, OK, OK, Well, it was
- 2:41really beautiful and if you're in the area, you know, get into
- 2:45it. Also.
- 2:46I remember some really good cookies we had there.
- 2:49Do you do at a little shop? And then there was this place
- 2:51that had really good. Wait, wait, wait, back up one
- 2:53second. Don't go too fast because I like
- 2:55cookies a lot. No.
- 2:56Can you describe them? So they were like smaller
- 2:59sandwich cookies with like the outside.
- 3:03The cookies themselves were like oatmeal, kind of a oatmeal
- 3:06cookie. OK, I don't remember if there
- 3:08were raisins, but the inside had a really good cream in them and
- 3:11like. Oatmeal green pie.
- 3:14No, but it was like a crunchier cookie, which I'm usually not
- 3:16into. I do remember now that you said
- 3:18the crunchy part and then it was like a it was like a cream
- 3:21cheese frosting in the middle almost.
- 3:23So good, I wish I could remember where we found them.
- 3:25Delicious. And we got like.
- 3:27We got it come in like a bag. They did.
- 3:29Well, it was. Like I remember a bag.
- 3:31Yeah, it was some restaurant. It wasn't like, or a gift shop,
- 3:35I don't know. But we went and bought them out
- 3:37all the time while we were there.
- 3:38And other people we were with were like, those were so good.
- 3:41And people had gone to the store after we had already cleaned
- 3:43them out. And I sorry, bad luck for you.
- 3:46Yeah, you can't have any also you just Minnesota that sorry.
- 3:49So why do you want? Sorry, that's.
- 3:51Canadian I know well. Southern Canada, here we are.
- 3:54Maybe I'm watching too much Canadian TV.
- 3:57Are you watching a lot of Canadian TV?
- 3:59There's a. Couple really good shows that
- 4:00I've gotten into, but I think I've.
- 4:01Actually got them. Is there?
- 4:03Yeah, Kim's convenience store. That's Canadian, Yeah.
- 4:07I did not know that. Yeah.
- 4:08And then, well, that's gonna be the only one I can't remember
- 4:11right now, but that one I really like.
- 4:12It's fun all. There was one about a rental car
- 4:15place. Maybe that is the same as Kim's
- 4:18Convenience. It doesn't matter.
- 4:20Anyhow, they have some good comedies to watch.
- 4:23OK, but I'm not talking about Canada, because Canada has not
- 4:27caught on to us yet. What's up with that?
- 4:29I don't know. Wait, yes, they have.
- 4:32Excuse me? Toronto jumped in at some point.
- 4:35Never. I'm pretty sure.
- 4:36No, I have the, I have the scoreboard.
- 4:38Oh no, I'm mad because I was certain.
- 4:40No, has not ever. But you know who did?
- 4:45Who did this is new addition. This is another new addition, a
- 4:49different country, how far away they are, and yet they still
- 4:53found us and their neighbors, which are three or four hours
- 4:56away, haven't. It's time for you.
- 4:58But this other country, very exciting, Algeria.
- 5:04That is crazy. It's.
- 5:05Wild. Algeria is in northern Africa.
- 5:11It is the largest country in Africa by land.
- 5:15Is that where Morocco is? I don't think so.
- 5:19We looked. We're not so good at geography.
- 5:21No, we're not. But what I did learn is that
- 5:23most of the country or the Sahara Desert covers most of the
- 5:28country. Is it Sahara or Sahara?
- 5:30Sahara. Yeah, probably Sahara.
- 5:33I bet that's not how they say it.
- 5:34With that, they probably say Sahara.
- 5:36I, I, yeah, I'm sure I'm very accurate.
- 5:39So. So that's pretty exciting.
- 5:41We clearly speak the local language.
- 5:43Yeah, but I was really excited about that one.
- 5:45You know, that's our second African country.
- 5:47So, you know, North America, you're losing.
- 5:52That's kind of amazing, actually.
- 5:53Really. Because we've also been to both
- 5:56Canada and Mexico. Where we had Canada.
- 5:58We don't. We don't.
- 5:59But now in the normal fashion of you welcoming people.
- 6:04Oh yes, yeah, let's, let's hear it.
- 6:06Tradition would have it. I don't think I'm going to get
- 6:11it right. That's OK, Trying is half the
- 6:14battle maybe. And I might have forgot my
- 6:17research a little bit. Is it?
- 6:20Is it? Wait.
- 6:20You tell me, and then I'll try. Oh, my God.
- 6:22I did. You forget To what?
- 6:26Yeah, that is. Wait.
- 6:28Yeah. But you got to.
- 6:28OK. So I'm going to try.
- 6:29I'm going to try. Here we go.
- 6:30OK. I apologize to everyone in all
- 6:33of Algeria, Marhaba that. Sounds right.
- 6:36It felt right. Yeah, I'm pretty sure because
- 6:39it's. They have like two or three
- 6:40national languages, I can't remember.
- 6:42The big one was. Arabic.
- 6:45Arabic, yeah. Salaam.
- 6:46But Berber is also a national language there.
- 6:50Yeah. And there was another one that
- 6:52was like, not a national language, but a lot of people
- 6:54spoke it. Well, anyhow, I'm really excited
- 6:56that we can teach you all a little bit of geography that we
- 6:59are only just learning and world facts.
- 7:02We don't even know if Morocco's in it, but I'm pretty sure it
- 7:04is. But it doesn't matter.
- 7:06I mean, it does, but we'll look at that another time.
- 7:09So, yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
- 7:12OK. But that was a exciting way to,
- 7:17you know, come on board today was to see that.
- 7:19And, you know, I'm feeling a little, maybe a little tired,
- 7:24you know, right now, which is OK.
- 7:26I kind of, although we are recording this early, I feel
- 7:30like I have a early Halloween hangover.
- 7:32For like pre Halloween. Pre Halloween hangover, Yeah
- 7:36from the. Candy, you're gonna eat.
- 7:37Well. Your body is preparing for a
- 7:43sugar overload. Yes, it it could be.
- 7:47It could be. Viewing people from all over the
- 7:50world may not fully understand the insanity of Halloween
- 7:56celebrations here in the United States, but they are very
- 7:59intense. Yes.
- 8:01Like, people go crazy to we decorate our houses.
- 8:05Not everybody. Well, lots of people do.
- 8:07We dress ourselves and our children up in costumes and we
- 8:11walk around in the neighborhood door to door or knocking on the
- 8:14door or ringing the doorbell and saying trick or treat.
- 8:16Yep, nobody really does trick all that much except our
- 8:19neighbor. Do you have a neighbor trick?
- 8:22Most people just hand out candy. Yep, Yep.
- 8:24Do you? Have like a favorite candy
- 8:25memory from when you were a kid. What I remember after Halloween
- 8:30was having like we used to go trick or treating and this isn't
- 8:33a Halloween episode or anything like that, but well.
- 8:35It is going to be Halloween tomorrow, so it's kind of Fair
- 8:37game. But not for our listeners.
- 8:39So this is, but what we used to do is we would grab pillowcases
- 8:43because those would really, really hold up and grab all of
- 8:46the candy and you could, you know, kind of really drag that
- 8:48around the neighborhood. But I remember just sitting
- 8:51there with the big hoard of candy, you know, dumping it out
- 8:56of the pillowcase and sorting, you know, until like what I
- 9:00really like and what I kind of like and what I don't want it
- 9:06all, all of that. And so me and my sisters had a
- 9:11different strategy for this. OK.
- 9:13What I really liked, I always ate right away.
- 9:15And I don't know what my oldest sister did because I wasn't
- 9:18paying any attention, but my other sister who I grew up with,
- 9:23would save her favorite candy till the end.
- 9:26So we'd be sitting there, you know, well into probably mid
- 9:30November, end of November, and she'd still be pulling out
- 9:32Reese's peanut butter cups. And I would be so jealous 'cause
- 9:36I'm like, got nothing. I got Twizzlers.
- 9:39This is disgusting. Twizzlers.
- 9:41Are not disgusting. They're OK.
- 9:43Licorice is good. OK.
- 9:45But if you have a bag full of candy as a kid, was it, what
- 9:48number were you going with that? Well, that wasn't first.
- 9:52No, that was a leftover. My very leading question that I
- 9:55gave to you because I wanted to answer it for myself as my
- 9:59selfishness would have my favorite memories of candy as a
- 10:03kid and I don't remember if I know one of them happened every
- 10:06year. This guy used to make popcorn
- 10:10balls in the neighborhood. Yes.
- 10:12They were delicious. Also, did popcorn balls still
- 10:15exist? That was like a thing back in.
- 10:16The Oh yeah, but I don't know, back in the day they were hard
- 10:19and crunchy. I never.
- 10:21Stopped not the fresh ones because the fresh ones and I I
- 10:25think he used was it caramel? I don't know.
- 10:29I was. There they were delicious.
- 10:30And then there was at least one year that we found a house that
- 10:33did caramel apples. Of course you did.
- 10:36Which was awesome of. Course you did.
- 10:38But I don't remember finding that every year.
- 10:40I never had that in my neighborhood, but we had tons of
- 10:42candy, tons of candy. So but it's just most things I
- 10:45would stick around for a while. My dad would frequently steal
- 10:50candy. He would also his favorite, it
- 10:52seemed like was the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.
- 10:55So I. Thought it was Tootsie Rolls.
- 10:57No, no, He likes Tootsie Rolls. If he was buying candy, it would
- 11:00be Tootsie Rolls, probably less expensive or what have you,
- 11:04because you know, Reese's peanut butter Cups.
- 11:05Those are like Creme de la Creme right there.
- 11:09You know, you can't be popping those like candy, but you can.
- 11:13You can. You can.
- 11:15But that would be one of the reasons why I would eat mine
- 11:16quick, because I didn't want my dad to steal them.
- 11:18And so my sister, who was such a good saver all the time, she
- 11:23would know how many she'd have. And every once in a while, one
- 11:26would be not, you know, one would be missing.
- 11:28And we all knew who did it. But I didn't give my dad that
- 11:31opportunity. I'd eat them all.
- 11:32Probably I don't steal candy from my kid.
- 11:35Because you don't need to. We, we.
- 11:38It'd be fun. We have kind of a candy heavy
- 11:40household here, so. Be on the candy.
- 11:42Yeah, all year round, so. It's always Halloween it.
- 11:46Is always Halloween. From the candy perspective.
- 11:48We try to clear it out during, you know, between holidays, but.
- 11:52I wonder how much like candy as a market share of the total year
- 11:59is sold like in the month of October.
- 12:02I bet you it's a lot. Don't know, but I did hear that
- 12:06there was some issues with like the bigger chocolate company
- 12:11brands right before Halloween. They were discounting their
- 12:14candy. I did not happen to see that,
- 12:17but they had, the prices were high, I mean.
- 12:20Maybe they were discounting it to like the stores that sold
- 12:23them, but the stores that sold them weren't discounting them
- 12:25to. Consumers.
- 12:26I don't know, I I happened to go to a larger grocery store the
- 12:31day before Halloween and they were already taking down their
- 12:33Halloween candy and putting up Christmas candy.
- 12:36Oh, and. It's very different candy.
- 12:39Very different, different color packaging went from orange and
- 12:43black to red and green. And I I was, you know, Halloween
- 12:48hadn't even passed yet. I also like to appreciate a
- 12:51whole another holiday in there personally, but a little.
- 12:53Bit of a little bit of Thanksgiving going on.
- 12:56Yeah, yeah. I mean, that's that's probably
- 12:59my second favorite holiday, Thanksgiving.
- 13:02I like the food holidays. What can I say?
- 13:04Would you like food? Girl likes to eat.
- 13:07So does a boy. Is that a boy likes to eat?
- 13:10Can you say that? I don't know, I.
- 13:12I just said it. I just was saying a girl likes
- 13:14to eat because I'm a girl. I enjoy.
- 13:16Eating and I also. Like, I think most people enjoy
- 13:18eating. Yeah, but you love.
- 13:20Eating. I love eating.
- 13:22It's my favorite thing to do. Do you remember on the Jetsons
- 13:26when they would like make food and come out and like pill form?
- 13:29I thought, I don't want to live in that future.
- 13:31I don't remember that. Yeah, I think it was the
- 13:34Jetsons. That does sound sort of
- 13:35depressing. Yeah, I don't want to live in a
- 13:37world where I can't enjoy the delicious food.
- 13:39I'll, you know, I mean, not as often as I want to.
- 13:42I. Would be OK if you could just
- 13:43request a food and it would magically appear like Star Trek.
- 13:46I don't know. I'll have to trust you that that
- 13:48had they. Did they had machines?
- 13:50They were like 3D printers for food.
- 13:52Oh, OK. But it was more magical, like
- 13:54you would say I want a this and it would it would go and then
- 13:59the thing showed up like in one second.
- 14:00OK, so you'd be like being me food, Scotty.
- 14:02Yeah, being me, whatever kind of drinks or foods you wanted.
- 14:06You're not proud of me for knowing the being me, Scotty.
- 14:08Oh, you were proud of yourself, though.
- 14:09I was so proud. Look at that.
- 14:11OK. You know, it's not like a huge,
- 14:16widely known thing. I don't know if people say talk
- 14:18about that anymore like the beam me up.
- 14:20About Star Trek. Yes, Star Trek.
- 14:24It's still sort of a big thing. Good, I'm glad.
- 14:27Me too. Yeah, so that reminds me of a
- 14:31Star Crunch Candy, Do you remember Star Crunch?
- 14:34I do remember Star. Crunch.
- 14:35It's a Little Debbie thing, isn't it?
- 14:36I think so, yeah. It had the little Rice Rice
- 14:39Krispies inside of the chocolate thing.
- 14:42It might still exist. Why am I thinking moon pie?
- 14:45Isn't that like a like a yellow? Like a cookie with like a yellow
- 14:51covering. So that, yes, but also that as a
- 14:53regular cookie. But that's a mass produced one.
- 14:56I think it's got. Yeah, we had some around here
- 14:58not that long ago. But yeah, I don't know.
- 15:02Lots of good sweets. I like the sweets.
- 15:05Tomorrow will be an epic day of sweets.
- 15:07It will, but for everybody else, it'll it.
- 15:09They'll be in their Halloween hangover.
- 15:11Yeah, you're in a pre hangover. I am.
- 15:13Because I've already started eating candy.
- 15:14You've got it. Too.
- 15:15We've been doing research for this episode.
- 15:17Yes, so much research because we knew we were going to talk about
- 15:19candy. Yeah.
- 15:20And we're, and we're talking about probably the thing that
- 15:23sells the most and is the most coveted of all the things you
- 15:26can get at Halloween, which is chocolate in all of its magical
- 15:30forms. Yes, yes.
- 15:32We had just had a bunch of people over and I always make
- 15:36sure that we are good hosts. Yes, and have plenty for
- 15:39everybody. We do and we do.
- 15:41I had a bucket of candy and there was the chocolate.
- 15:44Cauldron. OK, sure Cauldron it is.
- 15:48It's a really great cauldron. I'm very happy with my I don't
- 15:50remember where I bought it, but anyhow, apparently they a couple
- 15:54people had said all the best candy was on the bottom and that
- 15:58I had done that on purpose. And I said no, I really maybe
- 16:01just was lazy. But when I looked I thought you
- 16:04know what? Yeah, cuz 3 Musketeers were
- 16:06right at the bottom. You love that one the most.
- 16:08It's so a lot. It's it's up there.
- 16:11I like the, the sweetness of it and also kind of the simplicity,
- 16:18you know, doesn't have all that other stuff in there, you know,
- 16:20getting stuck in your teeth. Right before this, I had to do
- 16:24some research. I had a, a very local Minnesotan
- 16:27candy. I realized a lot of people won't
- 16:29know this great candy company we have called Pearson's Candy.
- 16:33That's true. But they make these.
- 16:35It's like a Maple nut chocolate candy thing.
- 16:39It's like a turtle, but it's like Maple and nougat instead
- 16:43of. Oh, a Maple nougat, caramel
- 16:47pecan. Yeah, yeah, they're delicious.
- 16:50Really good, really good. If you have any desire you and
- 16:54you're not in Minnesota, you should totally go look them up.
- 16:57Oh Pearson, sponsor us 'cause giving you a shout out.
- 17:00Definitely take some free samples of Pearson.
- 17:02'S We have even sent like boxes of Pearson's candy to friends
- 17:06who were out of state because we knew that they needed their
- 17:09Pearson's nut rolls. Who doesn't need a Pearson's nut
- 17:12roll? So good, So good when they're
- 17:15fresh. Agreed.
- 17:16If they're not fresh, I don't know.
- 17:19And then at least. I did before the episode.
- 17:21Yeah. Was also delicious.
- 17:23I had a couple of little fun. Size 100 Grand Bars.
- 17:27Oh yeah, those are good. I only recently got into 100
- 17:30grand. Oh, I think they were like one
- 17:32of my mom's favorite as a kid because she was always talking
- 17:35about them at Halloween time. She's not much of a candy
- 17:38person. No, she's and not chocolate.
- 17:40She's not much of A chocolate person at all.
- 17:43We had lots of chocolate folks in my household growing up, so I
- 17:46sure did. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:48There was always candy around, which is OK.
- 17:51The one I don't think I ever tried the 100 grand if I had
- 17:56them in my bag because I hadn't had them before.
- 17:59And. What a bummer.
- 18:01That's OK. I mean, I tried the Babe Ruth
- 18:03and I didn't like those. I like those.
- 18:05I still don't. Reminds me of Goonies.
- 18:08Yeah. When he says root baby, I
- 18:11haven't seen that. That movie in a while.
- 18:13Well, it's an old movie. Yeah, One eyed Willie the
- 18:16Pirate. Maybe one year we'll dress up
- 18:19like The Goonies that. Would be fun.
- 18:21Yeah, we'll need a Can I be One Eyed Willie?
- 18:23Sure. What's the grandma's name?
- 18:25Or the mom's name. I don't know.
- 18:28I can't remember. I mean I could be.
- 18:29Her from the 80s I don't. Red hair, didn't she?
- 18:33Or am I totally misremembering her?
- 18:35I I really don't. I haven't seen the movie in a
- 18:37very long time either. Yeah, remembering hair colors.
- 18:40Yeah, I don't know. We need a big squad though to
- 18:42really reproduce. If we could get all of our
- 18:45friends to dress up as the whole movie, that would be hilarious.
- 18:48It would be, It would be, I don't know.
- 18:50Or maybe some of our listeners could volunteer.
- 18:53That could. Be and do like an online costume
- 18:55thing. Next year, there's always next.
- 18:57Year, I don't know. Next year, reach out.
- 19:00And again, we're not talking about Halloween.
- 19:02So sad, but we are talking. About we are talking about
- 19:04chocolate. Yes, chocolate.
- 19:07Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate the best of all candy, so it's
- 19:10the most. It's superior.
- 19:13Yeah, it's because, like, I love all the candy all the time.
- 19:17That's not true. There's some candies I really
- 19:18don't like, but I really like a lot of candy.
- 19:21But chocolate is the most reliable.
- 19:24Like you kind of always like chocolate.
- 19:26There's rarely a time in my life where if somebody handed me a
- 19:29chocolate, I would say no, rarely.
- 19:32I've gone on special missions for chocolate because, as we've
- 19:36said a couple times, I like to watch cooking shows.
- 19:40So if something new is coming through the cooking show or
- 19:44through whatever medias exist out there, I'm frequently
- 19:47wanting to try it. And years ago, rose chocolate
- 19:53came out. Do you remember that Ruby
- 19:55Chocolate Ruby? Chocolate I do.
- 19:57Maybe not that many years ago, but Ruby chocolate came out and
- 20:00we were headed to a place and I researched before we went to the
- 20:04place to see if they had Ruby chocolate 'cause I really wanted
- 20:07to try it, OK? And 'cause they were saying it
- 20:10had like a fruitier flavor and it's supposed to be a real
- 20:13chocolate. I don't know.
- 20:15And then we went and we found this place and we bought some
- 20:18Ruby chocolate. I was really disappointed.
- 20:22I'm going to guess based on your rose comment earlier, it's rose
- 20:25flavored. No, you had some.
- 20:27No, I remember. I don't know.
- 20:29I've tried all the chocolates you've tried.
- 20:30We had gone to a fancy chocolate to your place and they.
- 20:33Another chocolate is that I've been disappointed in spicy
- 20:35chocolate. Like it's fine, but I don't like
- 20:40want a whole bar of it. I will say this about that.
- 20:44I think most of the time when you get that it's in a more
- 20:47darker chocolate, OK. So for me personally, that's not
- 20:51going to be like the greatest but but I don't mind.
- 20:56A recent addition to the world of chocolate, at least for us,
- 20:58that you have also discovered probably a cooking show and have
- 21:01purchased many varieties of in the last six months.
- 21:04Varieties. Different name, name brands or
- 21:07whatever. I'll see.
- 21:08Is the Dubai chocolate? No, only one variety because.
- 21:13Brand name, I said. Oh, there's only one brand name
- 21:15I bought. Really.
- 21:16Yes. Well, now you can find them more
- 21:18often, but it was the hot ticket item and like, yeah, so that's.
- 21:23Delicious. It really is, but stupid
- 21:27expensive it is. It might be cheaper now, but
- 21:31like for a bar like this and I again that's.
- 21:33A huge. I don't know what is that like a
- 21:36six inches, 7 inches, 8 inches? That's a big chocolate bar.
- 21:40Just Yeah, that's. It it's not a small bar.
- 21:42I'm not saying it is, but like a bar like that.
- 21:45I think when I was buying it, which was like kind of during
- 21:48the whole TikTok, Instagram, you know, crazy.
- 21:52Oh, it has. It has a like a moment.
- 21:53Yes, people would open the candy bar up.
- 21:56It would be wrapped in gold and then they would like break in
- 21:59and show the snap. A lot of times the candy or the
- 22:02chocolate would have oh God, I'm sure I even have a bar still
- 22:05upstairs. The chocolate would have, you
- 22:07know, like a really pretty, you know, color design on the top
- 22:10and it'd be good quality milk chocolate with the pistachio.
- 22:16And is it Oh gosh, like it's a small like wafery type thing or
- 22:23like FILO, but I don't think it is technically FILO, but it's.
- 22:28What is Filo? Filo, it's a dough.
- 22:31It's baklava. You know you have all those
- 22:33layers. Oh yeah.
- 22:34That's filo dough. OK, so it's like that, but I
- 22:37think it's like starts with AK. It's something kind of like
- 22:42that. Anyhow, it's chopped up in there
- 22:43really small with the with the pistachio paste, so.
- 22:46Long as it's not kilo dough. I I know no, I maybe is it
- 22:53Keffer or Keffer or I don't, I don't remember what's in there.
- 22:56But anyhow really good but the bar like that is at least 20
- 23:01bucks. Also, I would just like to point
- 23:03out that I remembered all the time when we're on vacation, if
- 23:06we can find new chocolate, we do.
- 23:09Yeah. And then we eat it.
- 23:12Yeah, like the last time we went to Mexico, we bought all the
- 23:15Mexican chocolates, and many of those were good, some we did not
- 23:20love. That's where I first tried spicy
- 23:21chocolate. I was not on board on that one
- 23:23because you and our daughter really like dark chocolate.
- 23:27Love it. I know, I know.
- 23:31Yeah. And then also when we were in
- 23:34Deadwood, SD. Yes, we need to give a shout out
- 23:39there. First of all, let's give a shout
- 23:41out to Oprah Winfrey, who may may watch this in her.
- 23:46Life. Why not?
- 23:47Why not? She likes a little, you know,
- 23:49something that's new and different.
- 23:52I just need to get on her radar all.
- 23:54Right. Just just Oprah's radar.
- 23:56So a friend of a friend, if you know Oprah, just you'd be like,
- 23:58hey, check these people out. They've been together forever
- 24:00and they argue about literally nothing important.
- 24:02I feel like it's harder to find some sort of relation to her
- 24:06than it is to Kevin Bacon. That's probably true.
- 24:09It's 6° of seven, 6° of Kevin Bacon, 6° of separation.
- 24:13To Kevin. Bacon to Kevin, Was that the
- 24:15theme of the movie? Of what movie?
- 24:176° of separation. I didn't say that.
- 24:20You just what? No, no, I'm sorry.
- 24:23What? I didn't.
- 24:24I don't even know what this movie is.
- 24:25The whole time you've been referencing that, you thought it
- 24:28was just a colloquialism and you were going to randomly just say
- 24:30yeah Oh my goodness you precious thing.
- 24:33What's wrong with that? I love that you can still
- 24:35surprise me after so long. Years.
- 24:37Well, anyhow, I feel like there's.
- 24:39Hold on, I got to answer your question.
- 24:41Oh, what's the question? You said, what's that?
- 24:44Oh, I stopped caring and. Then oh, you moved on.
- 24:47OK, perfect. Well it's a movie about 6° of
- 24:52separation. The theory being like there's
- 24:55six people between you and anyone else on planet Earth.
- 24:57OK, well, I. And Kevin Bacon was a theme in
- 25:00that movie and I want to see now.
- 25:02It's been a long time, 20 years ago maybe.
- 25:04I think Will Smith was in the movie playing like a normal
- 25:06person and he found out that he had 6° of separation between him
- 25:11and Kevin Bacon. I think I'm 3° away from Kevin
- 25:14Bacon, yeah. Will Smith chew on that?
- 25:16Yeah, 3 Anyhow, but we were talking about the research.
- 25:21South Dakota. Yeah.
- 25:22Yeah. So before we went to South
- 25:24Dakota, Yeah, I had and Oprah. Yes.
- 25:27And Oprah. Sorry.
- 25:28Wow. I had done research to find out
- 25:30about some of the places that we're staying, and I had seen
- 25:34the thing about this candy store that Oprah gets truffles from
- 25:40every year. You told me it was because she
- 25:43either had received it in AI think you called it a swag bag
- 25:47at the Oscars or or gave it away in a swag bag on her show.
- 25:51One of the OR both, I don't know.
- 25:52It could be both, but yeah, she received it in a swag bag I
- 25:55believe, and then gave it out. But to let everybody know now
- 25:59we've we've shouted out our Pearsons, but this one.
- 26:02It's way bigger for us. It's more special.
- 26:06That's more luxury. It's definitely more luxurious.
- 26:10Is the chubby chipmunk. The chubby chipmunk.
- 26:13Yes. You heard that right, people.
- 26:15If you ever find yourself in the area or you want to just go wild
- 26:18and hit up the Internet, they do sell it there on their website.
- 26:21We get a box of truffles every year for Valentine's Day.
- 26:25We do. We pick up.
- 26:25Because of true love. Yeah, well, it's a special
- 26:29thing. It's a special thing that they
- 26:30have that, you know, just different, all kinds of
- 26:33delicious truffles. And if Oprah is into it, I'm
- 26:36into it. So and their signature one is
- 26:39called Chipmunk Treasure and it has a dark chocolate shell with
- 26:47a milk chocolate center and then it has on the top of it, I think
- 26:53it's like little pieces of both of those chocolates.
- 26:55And is it almonds? Nope, Toffee.
- 26:59Oh, it's toffee. That's not chocolate.
- 27:00Some sort of a nut. Pecans.
- 27:04Pecans and then also gold gold dust flake powder so it looks
- 27:09very shimmery. There's a little decorative
- 27:14swoosh of probably like caramel. On top as well.
- 27:18Super. Pretty.
- 27:19I want one right now. You have to wait till
- 27:21Valentine's. Day till Valentine's Day.
- 27:22Yeah, we have put a it's, it's not a cheap thing to choose to
- 27:26do, but that's why we have it for a special occasion.
- 27:30That's true. But that's one of the few fancy
- 27:34things that I'm into with chocolate.
- 27:36For the most part I am just a plain old fashioned.
- 27:39And a candy. Sorry.
- 27:42Bar, go ahead, go ahead. My bad, I was.
- 27:45Going to interrupt and then I realized I shouldn't and then I
- 27:47interrupted, but not interrupted.
- 27:49I did. I'm going to not speak.
- 27:50Now it's not fun, but I I just really like, you know, plain old
- 27:53fashioned candy, not old fashioned.
- 27:55Well, there's some old fashioned candies, but a regular like mass
- 27:59produced Hershey's, Mars, Reese's, whoever type of candy
- 28:05bar. That's my favorite way of
- 28:07getting chocolate. What I was so going to rudely
- 28:10interrupt with was that particular item, the chipmunk
- 28:14treasure truffle from the chubby chipmunk.
- 28:17Again, love to be one of your one of your people.
- 28:21I mean, if you want me to advertise, if you want Amber to
- 28:23do a little dance, we could do like a TikTok thing.
- 28:27I would do whatever to get some some free chubbies in my life.
- 28:30But it's one of the few times you and I agree that dark
- 28:33chocolate and milk chocolate are good because that one marries
- 28:37them so well. It really does.
- 28:39It's like perfect. It does.
- 28:41They had this one that I I will never forget.
- 28:45They called it the Nugget. The nugget.
- 28:49Yeah, So if you're ever in the area at a certain time of year,
- 28:52it's a special truffle. They have apparently it doesn't
- 28:55happen to be released during Valentine's Day, but it was it
- 28:59was the best one. We have been back since we first
- 29:03went to the Chubby Chipmunk and we have gotten more, so it's
- 29:07worth it. But South Dakota, where did?
- 29:09Where's the Deadwood? Deadwood.
- 29:10Oh, do we have any listeners in South Dakota?
- 29:14Because if we don't, a lot of times when we mention a state,
- 29:17if they're not on the list, they just sort of magically appear.
- 29:21Sometimes they don't. We don't.
- 29:22Mentioned Massachusetts and they didn't appear.
- 29:24Yeah, just really a bummer for them.
- 29:27So far. But South Dakota, you never
- 29:29know. They might show up next time
- 29:30they are. Neighbors.
- 29:31I'm just trying to think though, what is the name of their
- 29:33mascot? This is really nation.
- 29:34Probably not very interesting for other people.
- 29:36That's probably true, but you know what else they had there?
- 29:39Which they no longer have because it was a limited run.
- 29:42What's up? The most amazing dark chocolate
- 29:45bar I've ever had because it's like, oh, it was so good.
- 29:52It was from a, it was from a chocolate farm and I can't
- 29:55remember South America. And the chocolate bar had a name
- 29:59and it was the Maranyon. I think that was its name,
- 30:03pretty sure. And that particular chocolate
- 30:06bar, like 1, I think it was there's like a, there's like a
- 30:09world chocolate convention or something like that.
- 30:12You would know this better than me.
- 30:13And they want like it was the chocolate bar of pick the year,
- 30:17I don't know, 2010 or something like that.
- 30:20And it won first place. Best chocolate bar on planet
- 30:23Earth. That doesn't mean you like to
- 30:27drink coffee. I'm not trying to change your
- 30:29mind. I didn't like that, that
- 30:31chocolate. That's OK That's because it's
- 30:32dark chocolate. You know what?
- 30:34I really would. You don't have a taste for the
- 30:35finer things in chocolate. I mean, I might, you know, but
- 30:39here's the thing. Maybe I just have a more
- 30:41youthful taste for chocolate. OK?
- 30:44Yeah, Yeah, that's what it is. OK.
- 30:46I don't need it to taste like coffee.
- 30:49But I was thinking when I was a kid, one of the things I always
- 30:52wanted to do. Youthful.
- 30:54Yes. Well, our youthful child likes.
- 30:57Whatever. But I was thinking of, you know,
- 31:00fantasies when I was a child. And while I disliked the entire
- 31:04movie, what I would love is to like, go down a chocolate river.
- 31:08Yes. Yeah.
- 31:10With like a, like a, like a, like a scoop, Yeah.
- 31:12And you could just lean your hand over the side and just take
- 31:15a little scoop of that chocolate river and drink it.
- 31:18What kind of chocolate do you think was in the Willy Wonka
- 31:21chocolate? River.
- 31:22You'd have to think it was melted Wonka chocolate bars,
- 31:25right? Have you ever had a Wonka bar?
- 31:27Yes, I think it's is it made by it's either Hershey's or
- 31:31Cadbury's I think owns it now. I don't know if I've ever had a
- 31:34Wonka bar. OK.
- 31:37Well, new research to be done. Maybe yes, yes, I've enjoyed
- 31:41researching so far. You're.
- 31:42Not going to get the golden ticket.
- 31:43I hate to break it to you. I don't want to go with that
- 31:46creepy Willy Wonka and his Oompa Loompas.
- 31:49I do, so it's fine. I just want to see what that's
- 31:52like. You know, the, I think of
- 31:55there's a, a buffet place around here and several years ago, not,
- 32:02you know, maybe 2019. So you can imagine the
- 32:05difference at a buffet in 2019 to now.
- 32:07But they had. Like it existed in 2019 and
- 32:11doesn't now. Probably still does, but they
- 32:13had a chocolate fountain, you know, which is it, in my
- 32:17opinion, a really gross idea to have a buffet and all these
- 32:22kids. I'm a chocolate girl, right?
- 32:23Like I'm watching all these kids just kind of going like this
- 32:26with the like swooshing out, you know, like a marshmallow
- 32:30directly in the fountain and all these things.
- 32:32And I'm like, you're not washing your hands.
- 32:34So that's disgusting. That used to be a bigger craze,
- 32:37Chocolate fountains, you'd go to events and stuff and they'd have
- 32:40them. But I don't remember last time I
- 32:42saw one. Maybe we're not going to.
- 32:43Think I would partake? I'm sure I would have until I
- 32:47saw those kids doing that and, you know, like no supervision.
- 32:49I don't. Know man, having done work in
- 32:52our garden pond and dealing with pumps and seeing what happens to
- 32:59a pump that pumps a liquid water of all the things and how dirty
- 33:03just water can get. And.
- 33:05Then you've worked in concessions.
- 33:07You know what? You know what a a soda fountain
- 33:10can look like without cleaning? Yeah, but you imagine what a
- 33:12chocolate fountain could look like if it wasn't properly cared
- 33:15for. Well, it would be, I mean, I'm
- 33:17just going to, I'm going to put the faith out into the world
- 33:19that they're caring for properly because it is disgusting and it
- 33:22would break if nothing else. But the big thing there, though,
- 33:25the big lesson there is, well, when I was a kid, I loved going
- 33:29to the any buffet without parental guidance.
- 33:33Maybe sometimes it's OK if we guide our children at a buffet.
- 33:39There's not a lot of buffets left though, I don't think.
- 33:41I don't know, I don't know. Which maybe that's OK.
- 33:44Yeah, that's OK. I mean I, I if.
- 33:47There was a chocolate bar buffet.
- 33:48There are candy buffets and things like that dessert buffet.
- 33:51Well, yeah. Within a regular buffet.
- 33:54Chocolate bar buffet that had different types of chocolate?
- 33:57I would be interested. I'm sure you would.
- 34:00Well, Luke, let me ask you a question.
- 34:03And now folks, the moment you've all been waiting for in this
- 34:07corner, claiming to weigh in at 135 lbs, currently wearing the
- 34:12maybe last of the spooky uniforms she's wearing a ghost
- 34:16sweat suit with her beautiful red hair is here yet again to
- 34:22battle me. And in this corner we have Luke.
- 34:26And he, conveniently to talk, did not talk about the wins and
- 34:30losses. That's on purpose.
- 34:32We but I'll talk about he's got this really great new hoodie on
- 34:36That is that was a heart Frankenstein.
- 34:39With stitches. Yep, Yep.
- 34:41And he's coming in hard with his beard right here.
- 34:44Oh, you must have shaved or trimmed recently.
- 34:47Oh, OK. Anyhow, but he I did not want to
- 34:51talk about the wins and losses. We've been in a really tight tie
- 34:56for a long time and I pulled ahead.
- 35:00I've got six wins into his five wins and we have tons of ties,
- 35:05which is fine. It just means that we're
- 35:07somewhere right along the path here, I think.
- 35:11But I'm winning. Yeah, I'm not thrilled about all
- 35:14that. So now the question I have for
- 35:17you Luke, has to do with that chocolate buffet bar.
- 35:22Chocolate bar buffet Sure that you were talking about and if
- 35:27there is a chocolate bar buffet? Yeah.
- 35:31You're going to have several types of chocolate.
- 35:33Sure. What are you going for?
- 35:35Well, I could get really specific.
- 35:39I'm saying like I'm. Going to be less specific.
- 35:41OK, so I'm going to stop you and give you your categories.
- 35:44OK, categorize it. So we talked about Ruby
- 35:47chocolate, white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate and
- 35:53the chocolate. Now I need to try blonde
- 35:55chocolate. There's another one.
- 35:57Isn't that just white chocolate? No.
- 35:59What's blonde chocolate? I know, I guarantee.
- 36:02You we'll see that in our house in the next 7 days and I'm I'm
- 36:06ready for it cuz I'll tell. Like I said, I'm gonna try it.
- 36:09Do you put some chocolate in front of me?
- 36:10I'm eating it. OK, my answer is actually quite
- 36:13simple for me. OK, dark chocolate.
- 36:17Now there is a broad range of dark chocolate.
- 36:22Yes. And different consistencies and
- 36:26there's all kinds of different makers and shapes you can get it
- 36:30in. So I just want to be clear.
- 36:32Well, the shapes can matter. So like we just got back from
- 36:35Universal and they have Harry Potter Land and at Harry Potter
- 36:39Land they sell the chocolate frogs.
- 36:41The chocolate frogs they sell, while I like chocolate and the
- 36:45dark chocolate they have is good.
- 36:46There's a good amount of sugar in it still.
- 36:48So you have the the sort of the bitter, smoky dark chocolate,
- 36:51but you also have the sugary sweet, but it's solid chocolate
- 36:56and it's like 2 inches thick. That is too much to bite
- 37:00through. I just, it's too like the it's,
- 37:03it's like it's climbing a mountain.
- 37:05So I'm not interested in large thicknesses of chocolate.
- 37:10So the, like I said earlier, the best dark chocolate bar I've
- 37:14ever had. You can't get anymore because
- 37:15the whatever doesn't exist. The I don't know if the farm
- 37:18doesn't exist where it came from, whatever, but I like a
- 37:23dark chocolate that is not too dark, which oddly enough, our
- 37:28child likes chocolate darker than I do.
- 37:31And I drink coffee black every morning.
- 37:33So it literally, she had one, I think it said it was 88% dark.
- 37:40Yeah. And it was like more.
- 37:42It was almost like eating coffee.
- 37:45It was it was a jarring experience.
- 37:48So I'm not a fan of that. I do also love milk chocolate,
- 37:53don't get me wrong. I don't love white chocolate
- 37:57because I think technically it's not chocolate.
- 38:00Isn't that true? I've heard that, but I don't
- 38:03know. I don't.
- 38:04Know the science in it. Yeah.
- 38:06Yeah, I think you said that you thought it might just be
- 38:08technically fudge or something where it's not.
- 38:09No Fudge. No.
- 38:11No. OK, well, in any event, I would
- 38:14pick dark chocolate if I'm at the chocolate bar buffet.
- 38:17And that's because it does give you sweetness, but it also gives
- 38:22you some smokiness if it's if it's good and it gives you some
- 38:26bitterness, but not too much There's it's got to kind of be
- 38:30like that. It's like a Goldilocks situation
- 38:32where I want it to be darker than a milk chocolate.
- 38:35So I get those additional complexities in the chocolate
- 38:39and not too far dark. So I lose out on that sort of
- 38:43creamy, buttery, sugary part that I do so love about a milk
- 38:49chocolate. So for me, it's like a dark
- 38:52chocolate that's just right. And I don't know what percentage
- 38:56that is because I haven't done the research.
- 38:59I mean, I've eaten it, I'm certain, but I don't actually
- 39:01know. Like there probably is a number
- 39:03of dark chocolate that I like. And I bet you it's somewhere
- 39:05close to the middle because I don't know what percentage milk
- 39:07chocolate is. I don't know that there is a
- 39:10percentage to milk chocolate. Tell you which one's real
- 39:13lowest. Those little things you get at
- 39:14the gas station which are disgusting.
- 39:17I like those little chocolate. They taste like sugar with a
- 39:19hint of chocolate. That's OK.
- 39:21That's not OK. It's not chocolate.
- 39:23It's like a. It's like.
- 39:24Chocolate flavored. It's like chocolate whispered to
- 39:26the sugar. It's chocolate flavored using
- 39:30Yeah. I mean, you've seen that.
- 39:32I've seen those candies where it's like chocolate.
- 39:34That's like when something says made with real juice and you're
- 39:37like, wait, I'm, I'm drinking juice.
- 39:39What do you mean it's made with real juice?
- 39:42I think it's more like when things that say that they're
- 39:43natural flavored. Oh sure, it doesn't tell you
- 39:46what it means. Right, right.
- 39:48OK, well, here's the thing. OK, do do you?
- 39:52I mean, you know my answer, but the audience?
- 39:55They're about to learn. Might want to know my answer of
- 39:57all of those things without this being my official answer.
- 40:01OK, if this was today, this very moment, I would try the blonde
- 40:05chocolate because I've never had it before but.
- 40:07So try something new is on your radar.
- 40:09I would do that, yeah. However, however, I gotta go
- 40:13milk chocolate because while everything you were saying about
- 40:18like dark chocolate has to be just right, milk chocolate is
- 40:22consistent and delicious all the time.
- 40:24Like they're not sitting there saying this is the percentage of
- 40:27milk we have or this is the percentage of chocolate we have.
- 40:30They're like, dude, this is just reliable good sweetness.
- 40:33And when it comes to candy, I don't want it my candy to taste
- 40:38smoky. Like I want my candy to be
- 40:40sweet. I don't want it bitter to taste
- 40:41like coffee. I want it to taste like
- 40:44chocolate, even if it is only in chocolate flavoring.
- 40:48I want a good sweet treat. That's why I'm going for it.
- 40:52I'm not going for I don't, you know, I, I don't really like
- 40:56those typically, although there are a couple of bougie
- 40:58chocolates I've had in general, you know, it's got to be regular
- 41:02price or even cheaper chocolate than that.
- 41:04You know, like dollar store. Well, now dollar 25 or dollar 50
- 41:07store like candy from there that's chocolate flavored.
- 41:11It's gross. It's so good.
- 41:13I love it. No, I want to get a little buzz
- 41:15from the sugar off of it. I don't need the, you know, like
- 41:18that's. Just eat sugar then.
- 41:19Well, sometimes that's, well, actually I don't have to because
- 41:22I can buy it flavored. But you like interesting
- 41:26flavors. That's the thing I don't
- 41:27understand fully about your lack of love for dark chocolate.
- 41:31Because you like spicy and you like real spicy food.
- 41:35I know. And you like like sour like.
- 41:37Candies and stuff. Sour candies.
- 41:39So it's not like you don't like an interesting flavor, which is
- 41:42why I don't understand. Yeah, but the chocolate, dark
- 41:45chocolate is really different. I don't if I'm looking for
- 41:48something sweet, you know what? That's the thing.
- 41:50I want whatever it is that I'm tasting to be reliable and to
- 41:53taste what I think it should be tasting like.
- 41:55Don't surprise me. I don't try to like throw in
- 41:58like it's fancy. So it, you know, like I just no
- 42:01thank you. No, thank you.
- 42:03I mean, it is. Sure, the dark chocolate I am OK
- 42:06with sometimes and only and I in general.
- 42:10I'm not one who says that shape matters for chocolate because it
- 42:13doesn't for milk chocolate. But the small Hershey's special
- 42:16dark chocolate? It's OK.
- 42:20I agree. Hershey's special dark is great.
- 42:22It's OK. I mean, if you were gonna pick,
- 42:23if you were gonna pick which dark chocolate is the right one
- 42:27to get someone interested in dark chocolate, that would be
- 42:29the place to start. Cuz that's a little past milk.
- 42:33Yeah, yeah. Not too far.
- 42:35It's like European chocolate. Well, maybe European chocolate
- 42:39is mostly a little darker. It could be, It depends.
- 42:41It depends. Is not the chips you put in a
- 42:46chocolate chip cookie dark chocolate?
- 42:48That's semi sweet. Doesn't that mean it's
- 42:50bittersweet? I don't know if it's semi sweet
- 42:53so maybe I don't know if it's dark chocolate but.
- 42:56It's not milk chocolate because you make those one because.
- 42:58You can buy milk chocolate chips.
- 43:01Weird. Yeah, but.
- 43:03So it's dark chocolate. Yeah.
- 43:05But usually in that scenario, like with a cookie.
- 43:07Well, you got other stuff. Yeah, you're putting other
- 43:09sugars and things like that, so it's kind of matching up.
- 43:11I love cookies. Yeah, I know you do.
- 43:13I know you do. And soon you'll be closer to a
- 43:15cookie season here soon. But right now we're talking
- 43:18candy. We're talking chocolate.
- 43:20The other thing I like about milk chocolate is it goes with
- 43:22every, you know, like all of those things.
- 43:24If you want peanut butter, peanut butter and milk
- 43:27chocolate. Delicious.
- 43:28Hold on. No, it's garbage.
- 43:31Don't put dark chocolate disgustingness around peanut
- 43:36butter. That's delicious.
- 43:37No, it's. Not it's.
- 43:38Not it's absolutely. Delicious.
- 43:40I want to eat coffee and drink and peanut butter at the same
- 43:43time. Would you drink a peanut butter
- 43:46coffee drink? Who You're just That is the
- 43:49weirdest. First of all, no coffee store
- 43:51has ever done that that I'm aware of.
- 43:53Now it might be time. Here you go, Starbucks.
- 43:56It'd be peanut butter. Flavoring like coffee is not
- 43:59going to melt actual peanut butter.
- 44:02It probably separate. It be like peanut butter syrup.
- 44:04It'd be gross. That sounds terrible, but those
- 44:08Reese's the I really like those the thins, Reese's thins, the
- 44:12little cups. They do I think sell them in
- 44:15milk chocolate now but the first time I had it was dark chocolate
- 44:17and they are delicious. No, they're not.
- 44:19I mean, the peanut butter in the middle is fine, but the dark
- 44:23chocolate, it's wrong. It just, it tastes wrong.
- 44:27But milk chocolate and peanut butter?
- 44:30Beautiful, beautiful combination.
- 44:32And then the other one that I think is also good is going to
- 44:36be, well, I can do a darker chocolate was mint, but you
- 44:39know, you can do milk chocolate was mint and it's.
- 44:42All those candies you brought back from Florida that you loved
- 44:45are dark chocolate. I'm aware of this, but that is
- 44:47not a vote because you had a. Whole Europe nostalgia thing
- 44:50happening. There's a huge difference
- 44:52between that. Plus that's like 90 but got you
- 44:54a. Question is it not true that you
- 44:57really like phaser mints? Of course I like phaser mints.
- 45:00OK, they're made with dark chocolate.
- 45:01But it doesn't mean that I would prefer dark chocolate milk
- 45:04chocolate. I prefer milk chocolate to dark
- 45:07chocolate. And every time that's not an on
- 45:09its own question. Right.
- 45:10That's like asking. Yeah, it's not.
- 45:11I mean, just on its own, but even with other things in
- 45:15general, you know, like with caramel.
- 45:17Oh, dark chocolate sounds disgusting.
- 45:19You gotta want milk chocolate with caramel.
- 45:22Yeah, yeah. But maybe have I had dark
- 45:24chocolate with roughly sounds? Terrible.
- 45:28I know I would try it. Well, you might be OK with.
- 45:30It on its own. On its own.
- 45:33Every bar. The chocolate bar.
- 45:35But you're so again, you're like, it needs to be so
- 45:37specific, like the percentage of cacao and all that, like.
- 45:40No, no, no, no, no. I'm specific that it can't be
- 45:42too too dark. Because you like milk chocolate
- 45:44better. No, absolutely not.
- 45:47Like 100 times out of 100 and pick a dark chocolate but I
- 45:51don't like the stuff that's too dark.
- 45:53I'm gonna say based on our candy supply.
- 45:57You buy the candy, that's a cheap, you're a cheap move.
- 46:01Nope, Nope. I do appreciate that you buy me
- 46:04dark chocolate when you're buying chocolate.
- 46:06I never buy a dark chocolate. Buy our kitchen dark chocolate.
- 46:10You just buy our kids stuff. Well, maybe she shares with me
- 46:12then and. Yeah, I'm sure.
- 46:14Well, I'm sure. Well, yeah, all that was the
- 46:17argument for today. And we want you to help settle
- 46:20which is clearly the superior chocolate, which must be milk
- 46:24chocolate because it is sold at such high levels like I feel
- 46:28like. It probably is sold more.
- 46:30That doesn't mean it's better. Yes it does.
- 46:32Things that are better sell more.
- 46:33That's like saying Folgers is better than, I don't know, some
- 46:37kind of gourmet coffee. Well, it's not better, just sold
- 46:39more. No, you're saying because it's
- 46:41cheaper. No, you're saying dark chocolate
- 46:43in general. So I mean, if you're saying, OK,
- 46:45well, now we got to back this up and pause for just a second.
- 46:47Back that thing up. Yes, if you have a dollar milk
- 46:51chocolate bar and a dollar dark chocolate.
- 46:55Bar I'm not going to lie, I'm scared of both of them if
- 46:57they're a dollar OK, OK, we'll. Fancy it up here a little?
- 47:01A $2.00? Wow, is candy that expensive?
- 47:04I'm sure it. Is OK a $2.00 milk chocolate bar
- 47:07and a $2.00 dark chocolate bar? What are you pulling for?
- 47:12I mean, I want to pick dark chocolate.
- 47:14That's wise. But you know what?
- 47:15Most of the world would pick milk.
- 47:18That's why they sell them so much more.
- 47:20It's more. Like apparently in Europe and
- 47:22made with many other things milk chocolate and also here.
- 47:25What if we're going to do some after episode research?
- 47:27What if actually dark chocolate is sold more and you're wrong?
- 47:30Sold more where? Here.
- 47:32I don't know sure here or globally.
- 47:34I know it's gotta be, I mean. You don't think the other places
- 47:37count? Our viewers all over the world
- 47:39might disagree with you. Whoa, whoa, I'm not.
- 47:42They like dark chocolate. Well, anyhow, that is our
- 47:46argument I think. Final.
- 47:48Well, maybe even though you're still wrong.
- 47:50I'm not. And dark chocolate is way
- 47:52better. I don't wanna taste smoke and
- 47:55coffee. No, no, you don't taste.
- 47:58Hold on. OK, so we're clearly not done.
- 47:59You don't like, eat a dark chocolate bar and go, oh, I
- 48:03taste smoke and bitter. It's like if you have a complex,
- 48:08like a dinner dish that has layers, there's a complexity to
- 48:13it. Yes, there's sweet, there's
- 48:15creamy, there's buttery. That's kind of the the feelings
- 48:18and sensations. No, no feelings and sensations,
- 48:22not like actually butter, but like those are the things that I
- 48:26would associate with when I'm differentiating the two.
- 48:29Those are the things I would associate specifically with milk
- 48:32chocolate that I wouldn't specifically say is like only in
- 48:37dark chocolate, but that's like kind of in both.
- 48:41But milk chocolate seems to sort of stop there.
- 48:44And obviously it's chocolate flavored.
- 48:46We don't need to really point that out.
- 48:47That's sort of obvious, but in dark chocolate you have all of
- 48:50that and you have additional layers where there are hints of
- 48:54It's like like when you go to a coffee store, you wouldn't know
- 48:57this because you don't drink coffee, which checks out with a
- 49:00not liking of dark chocolate you.
- 49:01Have a bottle super long It's. Super long.
- 49:03I'm gonna, I'm gonna wrap it up. I promise.
- 49:05So, but like at a coffee store when you're buying coffee beans,
- 49:07they tell you like like it's all coffee, but it says like
- 49:13cranberries, chocolate smoke. Like it gives hints of like what
- 49:19the beans aromatically smell and also what they taste like.
- 49:26So dark chocolate for me is kind of like that.
- 49:28It has complexity. There's layers to it.
- 49:31I'm sorry for the long rebuttal. I just really, really passionate
- 49:33about dark chocolate and I'd like to eat a dark chocolate bar
- 49:36right now. It's.
- 49:37Really long rebuttal. I'm all for Team Simple Joy of
- 49:41Milk Chocolate, so vote for us. How do they do that, Luke?
- 49:46Well, they can vote for us in the poll.
- 49:48In the poll, that's. On Spotify to do it, that's the
- 49:50best place. It's the.
- 49:52Best for us to track. Because we're not, we're not
- 49:55that good at tracking. Too many places.
- 49:57Especially when life is busy. But the other places that count
- 50:00are any of our social media places.
- 50:03And on most of the social media places, we are arguing ever
- 50:06after. Not on all the social media
- 50:08places. I know, but I don't think we're
- 50:09on all the social media places. That's what I meant on the ones
- 50:12we're. On fair, fair, fair, Yeah.
- 50:14So what else should they do after they vote?
- 50:16Well, they should tell their friends.
- 50:18Yes. And their friends can listen to
- 50:20the podcast if they don't want to watch the video.
- 50:22Yeah. On all of the podcasting
- 50:25streaming places. Yeah, Apple and I heart and.
- 50:29Yes, all the places. Pick a thing.
- 50:30It's there. It gets all the way to Africa
- 50:32and Russia. Yeah.
- 50:34And Australia. And Japan world.
- 50:36And the UK and Germany And this. Is bonkers.
- 50:40You know what, we got to crack a little bit, a little bit deeper.
- 50:42I know we have Taiwan. I think we got to get a little
- 50:44deeper into Asia. OK, Anyway, that's where you can
- 50:46find us. All right, so they are supposed
- 50:49to vote. Vote.
- 50:51Share. Share Vote for me.
- 50:54No vote for the absolute correct one of milk chocolate.
- 50:57OK, vote share. Right?
- 51:00Follow. Oh, and follow.
- 51:03That's really important. We need our followers so that
- 51:05you can know when our next episode dropped.
- 51:07So please get into it. Yes, please do and we'll see you
- 51:11next time. Bye.
