- 0:02Speaker 1: Podcast Check it out, but Joe Logan experience Strain my day.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Joe Rogan podcast by Night All Day.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Gentlemen. First of all, thank you for being here. I
- 0:14Speaker 1: couldn't wait to talk to you. Congratulations on one of
- 0:17Speaker 1: the most epic accomplishments in the history of combat sports.
- 0:20Speaker 1: And that's not an understatement. I mean it might be
- 0:23Speaker 1: an understatement. I mean it's not an overstatement. It's perfect.
- 0:26Speaker 1: That was one of the greatest nights I've ever experienced
- 0:28Speaker 1: of watching anything in my life. It was amazing. And
- 0:32Speaker 1: to have you cap it off and win the title
- 0:35Speaker 1: when you're facing a guy that everybody thought was at
- 0:38Speaker 1: least number two pound for pound, it was like him
- 0:41Speaker 1: and Islam or number one and number two, and some
- 0:45Speaker 1: odds had you at six to one, which I thought
- 0:48Speaker 1: was very disrespectful. Thought. I thought, like, this is crazy,
- 0:53Speaker 1: Like six to one's crazy, Like Ily is really good,
- 0:56Speaker 1: but so's justin this is kind of nuts like that
- 0:59Speaker 1: to have win the way you won in front of
- 1:02Speaker 1: the fucking White House, Yeah, how'd it feel? Huh?
- 1:07Speaker 2: You know, it's really not really yet. I was expecting
- 1:11Speaker 2: to have like an internal sense of relief that like
- 1:15Speaker 2: I don't have something to chase because I was always
- 1:18Speaker 2: chasing this belt and I was expecting to wake up
- 1:21Speaker 2: with like some kind of natural release of pressure. But
- 1:27Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't feel that. As the days
- 1:30Speaker 2: go by, every day I feel a little bit more,
- 1:32Speaker 2: a little bit more. Two days ago, my dad was like,
- 1:34Speaker 2: you know, what was it like waking up being the champion?
- 1:37Speaker 2: And I like, I was like, I haven't even thought
- 1:39Speaker 2: about that. And then I was, you know, on the
- 1:42Speaker 2: shitter like ten minutes later, and I was sitting there
- 1:44Speaker 2: thinking about it. I was like, Wow, I'm the fucking champion,
- 1:48Speaker 2: Like it's fucking crazy, and yeah, it's just I mean,
- 1:52Speaker 2: I've just been on the grind for so many years now.
- 1:55Speaker 2: My dad dropped me off nineteen years ago in Colorado,
- 1:59Speaker 2: I knew nobody to wrestle, and yeah, to see where
- 2:04Speaker 2: I'm at now is just absolutely incredible. I mean there's
- 2:06Speaker 2: really no way to explain how or why, you know,
- 2:10Speaker 2: or like why I deserve it or I mean I
- 2:13Speaker 2: worked my ass off. I have made mistakes, you know,
- 2:16Speaker 2: I've done things the wrong way, but I've always corrected
- 2:19Speaker 2: and got back on the path. And you know, I
- 2:21Speaker 2: think the coaches, the mentors, but mostly the coaches that
- 2:25Speaker 2: I've been you know, and the team that I have
- 2:27Speaker 2: around me is a huge reason why I was able
- 2:30Speaker 2: to stay on track and just keep keep moving forward
- 2:33Speaker 2: and keep trusting that you know, I belong in the
- 2:38Speaker 2: top of the league.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Well, you've clearly shown it throughout your career and having
- 2:45Speaker 1: a great coach like Trevor, And one of the reasons
- 2:47Speaker 1: why I wanted to bring you in, Trevor, is because
- 2:48Speaker 1: you guys have a very unique relationship. First of all,
- 2:51Speaker 1: I love the YouTube series The Art of Violence fantastic
- 2:54Speaker 1: and what's great is watching two guys work together and
- 2:59Speaker 1: Trevor you being like very acutely aware of when to
- 3:02Speaker 1: pull them back, when to ramp it up, when to
- 3:05Speaker 1: push like you're you guys. Having a relationship like that
- 3:08Speaker 1: is so critical because you guys know each other so well.
- 3:13Speaker 1: You've seen him perform so many times, you've seen him
- 3:15Speaker 1: fight and perform in the gym, that you know where
- 3:18Speaker 1: he's at all the time. And having that sense of
- 3:22Speaker 1: where your fighter is at any given time in camp
- 3:25Speaker 1: because you know him so well. Boy, that's a giant advantage,
- 3:28Speaker 1: it is.
- 3:29Speaker 3: But hold on Dristine's testies. Yeah, I think that's A
- 3:39Speaker 3: huge advantage is knowing your athlete. And you know, I've
- 3:43Speaker 3: been doing this for a long period of time, but
- 3:44Speaker 3: there's lots of coaches out there that consider their fighters
- 3:47Speaker 3: their friends. I do consider them one of my best friends,
- 3:49Speaker 3: but I put myself more in like a father position
- 3:52Speaker 3: of I need to know when to tell him the truth.
- 3:55Speaker 3: And I've got myself in trouble with that with fighters,
- 3:59Speaker 3: where you tell him that truth so hard that you
- 4:01Speaker 3: have to let them go like a child, like, hey,
- 4:03Speaker 3: if we were not in the same beliefs, go live
- 4:04Speaker 3: life and see how it is, and then when you return,
- 4:06Speaker 3: I'm still going to love you having that type of
- 4:09Speaker 3: thing where I have to be dead honest for your career,
- 4:12Speaker 3: not because it helps us now and it feels good
- 4:15Speaker 3: right now at the moment. I have to look at
- 4:17Speaker 3: that from the time that we start and we talk about,
- 4:20Speaker 3: you know, what are his goals, and then my job
- 4:23Speaker 3: is to be an advisor, be a mentor to get
- 4:27Speaker 3: him to that place as best as I can, because
- 4:29Speaker 3: these are his goals and I want to support those.
- 4:32Speaker 3: And in the beginning of his careers, his goals were
- 4:33Speaker 3: to be the most violent guy out there, the most
- 4:38Speaker 3: remembered the guy that every time someone bought a ticket,
- 4:41Speaker 3: they remember Justin Gaigchee's selling that show. And then it
- 4:45Speaker 3: turned into no, I want to have this belt, and
- 4:47Speaker 3: that was hard because we did go and not get
- 4:50Speaker 3: the belt twice. And you know, it's so cool to
- 4:53Speaker 3: be in the kind of those scenarios where it's like, Dan,
- 4:55Speaker 3: you had two opportunities. Now it's never going to happen.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And that's what life is. Life is one of those
- 5:01Speaker 3: things that you keep getting up and chase your goals.
- 5:03Speaker 3: You never know how it's going to happen. And yes,
- 5:05Speaker 3: you want a dream and you want to have a
- 5:08Speaker 3: you want to have a plan. But I'll tell you
- 5:10Speaker 3: right now, through all the times that I've had championship
- 5:13Speaker 3: fighters in business, in life, the plans never work. You
- 5:18Speaker 3: always have to adjust them. But it's that dream and
- 5:20Speaker 3: that vision to get you to the top of the stairs.
- 5:22Speaker 3: You have to get up each one of those steps.
- 5:23Speaker 3: So you know, Justin went out there and wrote a
- 5:26Speaker 3: story that I don't think will ever be forgotten. And
- 5:28Speaker 3: he did it one round at a time, and that's
- 5:30Speaker 3: what impresses me because his mindset. I love the mental game.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I love to talk about the mental game. Even like illiot,
- 5:37Speaker 3: Illi is a special guy with how he uses his
- 5:40Speaker 3: mental the secret. If I see it, I believe it,
- 5:43Speaker 3: it'll happen to a point. You know. I always tell
- 5:48Speaker 3: people like, if you want, if you go down the
- 5:50Speaker 3: ice cream aisle and you're like, hey, I don't know
- 5:51Speaker 3: what ice cream I want, You're going to stand there
- 5:52Speaker 3: and go, oh, that one looks good. That one looks good.
- 5:54Speaker 3: That one looks the people that are like, I want
- 5:56Speaker 3: mint chocolate chip. You get in there, you get it done,
- 5:57Speaker 3: You grab that mint chocolate chip, and you walk out.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Very similar to Ilia's last three fights. He went out
- 6:02Speaker 3: there and he demanded what he wanted. His confidence got
- 6:06Speaker 3: him through that. But it makes it very hard when
- 6:08Speaker 3: you get that stale, nasty, rotten, milk fucking mint chocolate chip.
- 6:12Speaker 3: So you start to go, oh shit, what is going
- 6:14Speaker 3: to happen now? So I think the relationship that we
- 6:17Speaker 3: have is me guiding him, me pulling him back at
- 6:20Speaker 3: the strictly situation, Hey, let's pull back a little bit.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Let's let's focus on what's going on. I don't want
- 6:24Speaker 3: no distractions and having someone and he trusts that I
- 6:29Speaker 3: care about him, I love him to death. I love
- 6:31Speaker 3: his family, like our relationship is so strong, and I
- 6:33Speaker 3: need that with my athletes. And I'm just blessed and
- 6:38Speaker 3: one hundred year I say honored, but more and more
- 6:40Speaker 3: importantly humbled by someone who I've never worked mental with,
- 6:44Speaker 3: who chose me different ways to the mental game of fighting,
- 6:49Speaker 3: which I feel at very high level with. Is It's
- 6:52Speaker 3: something that if you put some put yourself around people
- 6:54Speaker 3: that make you better. This guy makes me better daily
- 6:57Speaker 3: and I'm very grateful for that.
- 6:58Speaker 1: You said something about Ilia about the fight about having expectations,
- 7:04Speaker 1: and you said, you don't have any expectations when you
- 7:07Speaker 1: fight that way, you don't you don't get thrown off.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's it's huge. I mean, my expectations
- 7:15Speaker 2: come from my hard work. Obviously, I expect my body
- 7:18Speaker 2: to perform. I understand that I've trained my mind too,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and you know, maybe the narcissistic tendencies in me love
- 7:29Speaker 2: showing off and performing in front of you know, thousands
- 7:34Speaker 2: of people on that stage. That's that's what I love
- 7:38Speaker 2: the most about about this, and that's what my personality like,
- 7:41Speaker 2: I'm very competitive. I want to win, but I'm never
- 7:45Speaker 2: gonna lie to myself and that's how I've never had
- 7:48Speaker 2: a coach in my entire career since four years old
- 7:51Speaker 2: of wrestling, have to pull me aside and talk about
- 7:54Speaker 2: the mental aspect of competition, because it's always been so
- 7:59Speaker 2: natural to me. I'm not sure if I'm not sure
- 8:03Speaker 2: if it's because they they see that I'm doing good
- 8:07Speaker 2: and that they agree with my approach mentally, or they
- 8:12Speaker 2: don't they don't understand what's going on, or but I've
- 8:15Speaker 2: just always been so comfortable and so content with my
- 8:19Speaker 2: situation of you know, this is the competition, it's the game.
- 8:24Speaker 2: You know, I'm very competitive, I'm very petty. I take
- 8:26Speaker 2: everything personal. And yeah, when I go in there with X,
- 8:30Speaker 2: I have gone in with expectations, and it's I said
- 8:35Speaker 2: it before the fight, you know, Alia, Like I said
- 8:38Speaker 2: so many true things to him, and I think it
- 8:40Speaker 2: was such a It's such an asset to tell someone
- 8:43Speaker 2: the brutal truths, especially someone like him, because it pushes
- 8:46Speaker 2: them farther away from the truth. You know, even if
- 8:49Speaker 2: I tell him the exact truth and exactly what's going
- 8:52Speaker 2: to happen, and you know, you're making a mistake by
- 8:55Speaker 2: having all these expectations.
- 8:56Speaker 4: And when we go to around two.
- 8:57Speaker 2: And when we go to round three and it's not
- 8:59Speaker 2: going as you putted it or wanted it to or expected.
- 9:01Speaker 4: It to, then where do you go from there?
- 9:04Speaker 2: And you know I said that exact thing to him,
- 9:06Speaker 2: and then that pushed him farther away from it. And
- 9:09Speaker 2: you know, it's almost.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Like you wanted to prove you wrong.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Yeah, he wanted to prove He wanted to prove himself right,
- 9:14Speaker 2: you know, and he was unwilling to be open to opinions.
- 9:19Speaker 2: And because obviously I don't know him, he knows him
- 9:21Speaker 2: better than himself. But you know, I, uh, I got
- 9:24Speaker 2: here because I am coachable. I got here because I listen.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I use every everything, like I posted yesterday, every person, place,
- 9:31Speaker 2: or thing that has happened to me or for me
- 9:34Speaker 2: has ultimately molded my mind and my body to be
- 9:37Speaker 2: able to deal with the situation that happened on Sunday night.
- 9:41Speaker 4: And you know I can.
- 9:43Speaker 2: I can pull so much experience from the past, my losses,
- 9:45Speaker 2: my wins, setbacks, failures, accomplishments.
- 9:50Speaker 4: I mean, there was so much to learn from.
- 9:52Speaker 2: You know, every day is a learning experience and I.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Constantly try to learn and be better.
- 9:58Speaker 2: And I don't know why I'm able to perform like that.
- 10:04Speaker 4: I think I just think it's who I am.
- 10:06Speaker 2: You know, When I when I say I wanted to
- 10:08Speaker 2: be the most exciting fighter ever, it's not that I
- 10:10Speaker 2: wanted to be the most exciting fighter ever. That the
- 10:13Speaker 2: thought of that was fucking cool to me, you know,
- 10:16Speaker 2: But I was just being me. And I've been blessed
- 10:21Speaker 2: to be able to, you know, do my through my childhood,
- 10:24Speaker 2: through coming from a small town, through having you know,
- 10:30Speaker 2: unwavering support from my my family and my friends, and
- 10:32Speaker 2: my coaches and my teachers and everybody from you know,
- 10:37Speaker 2: for it's just crazy to to be able to come
- 10:40Speaker 2: out on top. I mean, it's just crazy.
- 10:44Speaker 1: One of the things I think was a giant factor
- 10:46Speaker 1: in the fight is that you have been in wars.
- 10:50Speaker 1: You've been in a bunch of wars, and Ilia really
- 10:53Speaker 1: it only had some rough moments against Ji Herbert, you know,
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yusef Zilau gave him some problem, but it was nothing serious.
- 11:02Speaker 1: That the wars that you've been in, these just down
- 11:06Speaker 1: and dirty brawls that you've been in, you were comfortable
- 11:11Speaker 1: with the back and forth. You're comfortable with enduring. You
- 11:15Speaker 1: know that you're not going to break. You know, if
- 11:17Speaker 1: your body holds up, you're going to keep fighting and
- 11:20Speaker 1: you can endure. I don't think he'd ever experienced that before.
- 11:23Speaker 1: So when you didn't break in the second round, and
- 11:27Speaker 1: I think he made a mistake, and I think you're
- 11:29Speaker 1: correct about that. You said he made a mistake by
- 11:31Speaker 1: going to the ground and he hurt you to the body.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I told Trevor yesterday, I think you know, him hurting
- 11:37Speaker 2: to my body was the reason, one of the main
- 11:40Speaker 2: reasons I won. You know, when he hit me when
- 11:44Speaker 2: I dropped, it wasn't the first time he hit me
- 11:45Speaker 2: in the body. That was probably like the fourth or
- 11:46Speaker 2: fifth one, and he had landed some really clean shots
- 11:49Speaker 2: and he could probably sense that I was in trouble
- 11:53Speaker 2: and hurt, and I think that fact made him dump
- 11:57Speaker 2: everything because it was his last to take me out,
- 12:01Speaker 2: and he almost didn't take me out. But when I
- 12:03Speaker 2: went down in hindsight, it's always easy to make these
- 12:06Speaker 2: decisions in hindsight, But when I went down, you know,
- 12:09Speaker 2: he would be He's had way more more submissions than
- 12:13Speaker 2: he has knockouts, and so for him not to have
- 12:15Speaker 2: that belief that he's going to be able to go
- 12:16Speaker 2: down there, especially with the Kabba, especially with the Charles
- 12:19Speaker 2: Lolave verify, especially with all the negativity around my grappling there.
- 12:23Speaker 2: You know, I think he would have been foolish not
- 12:25Speaker 2: to because I would have stood back up. I would
- 12:27Speaker 2: have stood back up, and he would have charged forward,
- 12:30Speaker 2: tried to finish me. I would have jumped on his legs.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I would have pulled guard. He was gonna end up
- 12:33Speaker 2: on top of me no matter what. I wasn't gonna
- 12:35Speaker 2: sit there and trade with him again like I would have,
- 12:38Speaker 2: you know, front rolled into into grappling situations or what.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I would have made him cover me. And but I
- 12:44Speaker 2: think me getting hit is what made him completely blows
- 12:48Speaker 2: you know, Shane Carwin esk blow his tank, yeah, and
- 12:53Speaker 2: you know, go for the wind. And I think that
- 12:55Speaker 2: was the choice he had to make because it was
- 12:58Speaker 2: going to continue to get worse. I beat his ass
- 13:00Speaker 2: the first round. Like it might have been close on
- 13:02Speaker 2: the scorecards, I absolutely took the first round, but the
- 13:05Speaker 2: amount of damage that I inflicted in the first round
- 13:08Speaker 2: set up the rest of the fight.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I do think it was a mistake. And you're saying
- 13:13Speaker 3: what you're saying is so correct, but what I'm saying
- 13:16Speaker 3: is from a standpoint of him demanding it, he's going
- 13:18Speaker 3: to finish you in the first two understanding the damage
- 13:22Speaker 3: that he was taking. He took big risks. He got
- 13:24Speaker 3: in there, he kept his hands on your collar bones.
- 13:25Speaker 3: He was landing really good shots. Yeah, the two body
- 13:29Speaker 3: shots before that that left hook to deliver that. The
- 13:32Speaker 3: sound it made was crazy. That last one was clean.
- 13:34Speaker 3: It was precise and deep, but you could tell it
- 13:38Speaker 3: was already there. But if he didn't put that pressure
- 13:40Speaker 3: on his self, and this is what I mean by
- 13:42Speaker 3: a mistake, is like, when you come out, you have
- 13:44Speaker 3: to know that you're going five rounds, and he knew
- 13:47Speaker 3: that he had to unleash everything right there. If he
- 13:50Speaker 3: would have been smart in that scenario saying, hey, we
- 13:52Speaker 3: got five rounds, let me step back a little bit,
- 13:55Speaker 3: let me do some damage. But also he's like, hey,
- 13:57Speaker 3: let me get you out of there quick. Justin, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 3: can't grapple, can't do all these things with a lot
- 14:01Speaker 3: of people think, which Justin's a great grappler. And what
- 14:04Speaker 3: was so smart about you is when you get tired,
- 14:08Speaker 3: that's where the worst decisions happen. Is that's one of
- 14:11Speaker 3: my big things is coaching is we get someone tired
- 14:13Speaker 3: and then we make them make bad decisions and then
- 14:15Speaker 3: then we capitalize on that on those mistakes. Justin was
- 14:18Speaker 3: able to stay so composed here with being speared to
- 14:23Speaker 3: the body. And when you take a liver shot, it
- 14:25Speaker 3: is way different than the headshot. The headshots like taking
- 14:27Speaker 3: a shot with your buddies at the bar. It's like, hey,
- 14:29Speaker 3: let's go, you know, but you take a body shot,
- 14:31Speaker 3: you're dying. Like your liver shot, you feel like you're dying.
- 14:34Speaker 3: And Justin, all the decisions he made on the ground,
- 14:37Speaker 3: from the triangle, from the arm bar, from not being flat,
- 14:41Speaker 3: so many good decisions were made in that scenario. And
- 14:44Speaker 3: I do think it was a mistake. Obviously, There's so
- 14:46Speaker 3: many different ways it could go. But those those type
- 14:49Speaker 3: of moments and fights are what make fights great. Is
- 14:52Speaker 3: overcoming obstacles, and he had set that up. He had
- 14:54Speaker 3: said it. He's like, hey, I'm going to overcome anything.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I'm going out there, put the worst thing out there.
- 14:59Speaker 3: What do you do to be I've already been knocked
- 15:01Speaker 3: out the last second of a freaking huge fight by Max, Like,
- 15:04Speaker 3: you can't do nothing worse to me? And that mindset,
- 15:07Speaker 3: I think is something to take away for all the
- 15:09Speaker 3: fighters out there that always, I love how you say it,
- 15:13Speaker 3: expect the war always. Some of the biggest mistakes that
- 15:16Speaker 3: I've made with fighters that I had is allowing them
- 15:19Speaker 3: to think that they're going to go through this fight easy,
- 15:21Speaker 3: and then that fight becomes super hard. You think it's
- 15:23Speaker 3: going to be a war.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Then you're like, hey, wasn't as bad as I was expected.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Even if it was a little bit of a war.
- 15:27Speaker 4: They're not going to help them in that moment. Yeah,
- 15:29Speaker 4: there's no pulling them out.
- 15:30Speaker 3: And that's fighting. Fighting, Like fighting is mentality. I look
- 15:33Speaker 3: at this like, there's techniques out there and there's things
- 15:34Speaker 3: like that. What makes this sport inspirational and makes someone
- 15:37Speaker 3: that want to go out there and beat cancer because
- 15:39Speaker 3: they were inspired by a fighter. It's not the technical piece.
- 15:43Speaker 3: It's getting back up and it's okay to get knocked down.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I love I love watching people get knocked down because
- 15:49Speaker 3: my favorite part is seeing how they get up, And that,
- 15:51Speaker 3: to me is why I love fighting, is how people
- 15:55Speaker 3: get up.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah, how they endure. And that was the big story
- 15:59Speaker 1: of that second round that you figured out a way
- 16:01Speaker 1: to get through it, and the change in tempo in
- 16:03Speaker 1: the third round was very obvious because the sprint that
- 16:07Speaker 1: you have to make, like what Ilia did when he
- 16:09Speaker 1: was trying to finish you that he used so much
- 16:12Speaker 1: fucking energy. And the Great Jail sun In once said
- 16:15Speaker 1: that if you try to win by knockout and fail,
- 16:17Speaker 1: you won't win by submission. Yeah, and a lot of
- 16:20Speaker 1: times that's the case, because you know, as good as anybody,
- 16:23Speaker 1: if you fucking sprint at hard, you wail on the
- 16:27Speaker 1: bag with fucking everything you got for two minutes and
- 16:31Speaker 1: then they go time. One minute's not enough.
- 16:34Speaker 2: It's not enough even in preparation.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that was crazy too.
- 16:41Speaker 2: It was crazy to preparation for these fights, like I'm
- 16:44Speaker 2: doing twenty thirty forty second sprints at most. I mean
- 16:49Speaker 2: that was that was a two minute sprint for him.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Yes, but full out, full and there's no power everything,
- 16:56Speaker 1: full power, every punch, full power.
- 16:58Speaker 4: You don't even train for that.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Ye have spots, right, and he didn't. He was just unloading.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I mean, that's a young man with a tremendous amount
- 17:06Speaker 1: of confidence because he's a two division world champion and
- 17:09Speaker 1: he thinks he's going to go down as the greatest
- 17:10Speaker 1: of all time. And hey, he might still, he might
- 17:13Speaker 1: still what was he twenty eight?
- 17:15Speaker 2: The odds, the odds are fucking great against that right
- 17:19Speaker 2: now because.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Of that loss.
- 17:20Speaker 3: I hope he does.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I hope he does too. I hope he doesn't. I
- 17:23Speaker 2: know that he has a skill. I know that he
- 17:26Speaker 2: has the skill to be a champion again. However, I
- 17:31Speaker 2: same thing with Tony Ferguson. I didn't break Tony Ferguson's confidence.
- 17:34Speaker 2: I changed the perception of his opponents of him. And
- 17:41Speaker 2: that is a huge factor when you go in there,
- 17:43Speaker 2: like who are you fighting? What are you for? You know,
- 17:45Speaker 2: before this, he was a guy that would that you
- 17:48Speaker 2: couldn't get through, that you couldn't push through, you couldn't
- 17:51Speaker 2: survive with. And once I showed people that all you
- 17:54Speaker 2: gotta do is get through that, then nobody's ever going
- 17:57Speaker 2: to go in there with thinking that he's unbeatable now,
- 18:00Speaker 2: you know, and that that was his that was his identity,
- 18:05Speaker 2: and you know, that's gonna be such a tough task
- 18:08Speaker 2: for him to fight people that aren't scared of him.
- 18:12Speaker 1: That's interesting. That's Mike Tyson his prime, That's Anderson Silva
- 18:15Speaker 1: in his prime. Where the fight was lost. But yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 1: the fight was lost before he got even got in
- 18:21Speaker 1: there physically. Uh now, I don't know what the truth is,
- 18:27Speaker 1: but all these reports are that he has two fractured
- 18:30Speaker 1: orbitals and a broken nose. Just that alone. Does the
- 18:35Speaker 1: orbitals alone? Like anytime you've got eye injuries, like anything
- 18:38Speaker 1: severe with your eyes. Long term consequences vary, you know,
- 18:43Speaker 1: psychological absolutely.
- 18:45Speaker 2: And the body is resilient. Like I'm telling you, bones
- 18:50Speaker 2: make stronger bones like that is his, his, his, his order.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Bones will be.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Stronger, they will be Just in the orbital bone. I
- 18:57Speaker 3: had my orbital broken and for six months I'm doing this.
- 19:02Speaker 3: My tooth to move and it's right where my sinus
- 19:04Speaker 3: cavity is. You remember when you hit it with the
- 19:05Speaker 3: spinning elbow, your tooth would move. Dude, when to move?

- 20:06Speaker 3: I still feel this soft spot, but this is a
- 20:08Speaker 3: very weak area where your signings cavity is.
- 20:10Speaker 1: That's it and you you broke both orbitals.
- 20:12Speaker 3: And the nose.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Dude, I do believe that is Williams. You ever seens nose?
- 20:17Speaker 1: Have you ever seen the X ray and morobs nose?
- 20:20Speaker 3: Did it looks like a spine? Dude had thirty three verte.
- 20:26Speaker 1: It's literally fucking crazy.
- 20:28Speaker 4: I've had three broken noses. I've had it fixed twice.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I know you had it fixed. This is what there?
- 20:35Speaker 1: It is. That's that's Morob's nose. Oh my god, Oh
- 20:39Speaker 1: my god.
- 20:41Speaker 3: I mean that looks like a long cocaine binge right
- 20:44Speaker 3: there and took out the whole fucking left side of
- 20:46Speaker 3: his bothes.
- 20:47Speaker 1: So you got hit with a sledgehammer.
- 20:48Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 20:49Speaker 1: The nose is crazy.
- 20:50Speaker 3: That is crazy.
- 20:51Speaker 1: That is like, and to fix it, he's going to
- 20:54Speaker 1: have to have no contact for like a year, and
- 20:57Speaker 1: so he's not going to fix it. He's just gonna deal.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Look how that the bone.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I've had my eyes fixed and my nose fixed, and
- 21:05Speaker 2: my nose was better for quality of life. Obviously being
- 21:09Speaker 2: able to see was huge. But when your nose is broken,
- 21:12Speaker 2: like you have to understand, like getting a haircut fucking sucks.
- 21:16Speaker 2: You can't breathe your nose, your mouth open the whole time.
- 21:18Speaker 2: You're constantly breathing in fucking hair Like there's just so
- 21:22Speaker 2: much every time, every time you eat food, like there's
- 21:28Speaker 2: something missing. Yeah, sleep, I wore a nose trip to
- 21:31Speaker 2: bed for ten years now, you know.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Now, per scap because the people that thig off all
- 21:36Speaker 3: the time.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Yeah, my nose are used to it now.
- 21:38Speaker 1: But yeah, uh, when you got to fix which fight?
- 21:44Speaker 1: Was it before the Max fight?
- 21:45Speaker 2: Yeah? Right before the Max fight?
- 21:47Speaker 1: And then you can breathe out of it perfectly. Yeah,
- 21:50Speaker 1: is it still good now?
- 21:51Speaker 2: Yeah? He broke it, but he didn't break, he didn't
- 21:53Speaker 2: fuck with the cartilage he broke. He actually fractured the
- 21:56Speaker 2: bone up top, so I didn't have to get a fixed.
- 21:58Speaker 1: It's another factor that when we were talking about the fight,
- 22:01Speaker 1: and you know, people were talking about this matchup with Ilia,
- 22:06Speaker 1: I said, you have to think about what he did
- 22:08Speaker 1: to physive Phyzive is a super talented striker. And then
- 22:12Speaker 1: you also have to think about the Max Holloway fight
- 22:14Speaker 1: because he was pressing in the first round, but he
- 22:16Speaker 1: got caught with a jump, spinning back kick to the
- 22:18Speaker 1: fucking face. And when that was that's a that's a
- 22:22Speaker 1: game changer. And it happened at the end of the
- 22:24Speaker 1: first round, and from that it changed the tone of
- 22:27Speaker 1: the fight because it was just dead on. It was perfect. Yeah,
- 22:30Speaker 1: I couldn't have landed any better. And truth to.
- 22:32Speaker 2: The other matter is is psychologically I was not I
- 22:35Speaker 2: was not there. I was not prepared mentally for the fight.
- 22:40Speaker 2: When I thought Max Holloway, it was such a different circumstance.
- 22:42Speaker 2: It was, you know, a guy that wasn't in my
- 22:44Speaker 2: weight class. It was a guy that I had never
- 22:46Speaker 2: thought about fighting. It was for fun, and that the
- 22:52Speaker 2: whole experience was so different than any other fight I've
- 22:54Speaker 2: ever had when it comes to like being mentally prepared
- 22:58Speaker 2: for for a fight, What do you atue to what myself?
- 23:02Speaker 3: My and us like we took We told him to
- 23:05Speaker 3: take the she didn't want he didn't want to take
- 23:07Speaker 3: the fight, and told him that you're going to keep
- 23:08Speaker 3: the title contention fight because that's what they promised us.
- 23:11Speaker 3: That's why he was very in every.
- 23:13Speaker 2: One of you guys, every one of you. He was like, oh,
- 23:15Speaker 2: something was different. It was like, well, why didn't you
- 23:17Speaker 2: guys fucking say something? You told me the fight it
- 23:21Speaker 2: was different, but like I needed to know.
- 23:23Speaker 3: He tells me to tell me. He's like this, He's like,
- 23:26Speaker 3: I just didn't respect him, And I'm like, how could
- 23:28Speaker 3: you not respect Max? And I didn't catch onto it.
- 23:30Speaker 3: So it's like I'm always looking for flags and things
- 23:31Speaker 3: like that, and I take one hundred percent responsibility because
- 23:35Speaker 3: that's how we learned. Everybody makes mistakes. I remember then
- 23:37Speaker 3: Tony Ferguson fight. I didn't give any fucking water, you know,
- 23:40Speaker 3: like there's like things that we all learned from. But
- 23:43Speaker 3: the thing when he had told me that, I'm like,
- 23:44Speaker 3: how did I not catch that uh from you because
- 23:47Speaker 3: he's like, dude, he was a smaller guy, just didn't
- 23:49Speaker 3: and and I was like, dude, Max is like one
- 23:51Speaker 3: of the guys that I look up to from the outside,
- 23:54Speaker 3: like he is talented.
- 23:55Speaker 2: I remember thinking, what what am I looking for?
- 23:58Speaker 4: Like what am I afraid of?
- 24:00Speaker 2: I kept trying to convince myself that I needed to
- 24:01Speaker 2: be I need to find what I was to be
- 24:05Speaker 2: worried about. And I couldn't find it.
- 24:07Speaker 1: So you always need that before a fight.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, no matter how And so like I was,
- 24:14Speaker 2: I've never been as present and like, I've never been
- 24:18Speaker 2: able to retain a fight. And I, you know, before
- 24:21Speaker 2: the knockout, I was there like I was. I was
- 24:24Speaker 2: in the I was in the in the arena. I
- 24:27Speaker 2: saw the lights, I saw the people, I heard the
- 24:29Speaker 2: people like I've never been there in my life. And
- 24:32Speaker 2: I think that I can attribute that to me not
- 24:35Speaker 2: being scared and so me not you know, me not
- 24:38Speaker 2: being in a real fight or fight.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Real life or death situations. So you weren't fully focused.
- 24:45Speaker 1: You could actually hear the crowd.
- 24:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I could. I could hear my thoughts, you know,
- 24:50Speaker 2: I had thoughts, never had thoughts in a fight because
- 24:52Speaker 2: I'm so intuitive and reactionary, and that one was just
- 24:55Speaker 2: so good. There was so much and so sure, the kicks,
- 24:59Speaker 2: the ipokes. No, I think I was not. I couldn't
- 25:03Speaker 2: have beaten that night with the mentality that I had.
- 25:06Speaker 2: And that was my last lesson to learn. I had
- 25:09Speaker 2: made my lesson, you know, my lessons with OLIVERA was
- 25:14Speaker 2: like I wanted it so much. I wanted it so bad,
- 25:17Speaker 2: and I wanted to perform, and I wanted to impress
- 25:20Speaker 2: my fans. You know, Rose had a fight that night
- 25:23Speaker 2: and she fought like absolute garbage, and I, you know,
- 25:26Speaker 2: and I told my coaches, I coached, don't worry, I
- 25:29Speaker 2: won't do that to you before we're about to walk,
- 25:32Speaker 2: because I don't worry, coach, I.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Will never let you down like that.
- 25:35Speaker 2: And coaches pissed, and everyone's you know, the locker rooms
- 25:38Speaker 2: all fucked up because Pat's fucking weird?
- 25:40Speaker 1: Is that?
- 25:43Speaker 2: And I was at home and so there was just
- 25:45Speaker 2: and that was again, that was my fault. I allowed
- 25:47Speaker 2: those things to affect me and to you know, affect
- 25:53Speaker 2: my fighting decisions rather than just being myself.
- 25:58Speaker 4: And so that was a huge mistake. Another mistake was.
- 26:06Speaker 2: You know, winning two or three times in a row
- 26:08Speaker 2: and just kind of becoming complacent with how serious what
- 26:12Speaker 2: we do is and how dangerous this game is and
- 26:15Speaker 2: how much luck and chance are a factor every single night.
- 26:19Speaker 2: And so you know, I wasn't doing the extra credit.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I wasn't sitting in the asuna at home, you know.
- 26:25Speaker 2: And I don't know, I don't know why. It's just
- 26:28Speaker 2: and I made that mistake, probably into the Eddie auvaas
- 26:32Speaker 2: Dustin Porier fights lost and then I won three or
- 26:35Speaker 2: four in a row, and then I completely went back
- 26:37Speaker 2: to the same mindset of I'm the best in the world,
- 26:39Speaker 2: no one could beat me, and I paid for it.
- 26:43Speaker 2: And those two mistakes were huge, very very big learning lessons.
- 26:46Speaker 2: And then the Charles Alli of air fight. You know,
- 26:50Speaker 2: I was like, I wanted it so bad and then
- 26:53Speaker 2: I made the moment so much bigger than it actually
- 26:55Speaker 2: was because it's just twenty five minutes in time and
- 26:59Speaker 2: I can control is being perfect my preparation for it,
- 27:02Speaker 2: but then ultimately being there for twenty five minutes and
- 27:05Speaker 2: being perfect.
- 27:06Speaker 4: And yeah, those are the mistakes that I made. I
- 27:08Speaker 4: had to learn.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I had to make those mistakes. I would not change
- 27:11Speaker 2: anything about my career. I think the farther back into
- 27:13Speaker 2: my career you go, the more special this moment is.
- 27:16Speaker 2: And you know, I think in time again, this is
- 27:20Speaker 2: going to age like my career is something special. The
- 27:23Speaker 2: way that I did it, the way that I that
- 27:26Speaker 2: I lost, the way that I stayed on track, the
- 27:27Speaker 2: way that I you know, threatened retirement if I wasn't
- 27:30Speaker 2: going to get a title champ, a title shot, the
- 27:33Speaker 2: way I called my shots along the way, then the
- 27:37Speaker 2: discipline I had. I mean, it's second to none. I've
- 27:41Speaker 2: watched this sport my whole life since nineteen ninety two.
- 27:44Speaker 2: My dad showed me. I remember as a four year
- 27:46Speaker 2: old seeing it. I don't have a lot of you know,
- 27:50Speaker 2: great memories. I remember my childhood, but it's like you
- 27:52Speaker 2: have specifics. But I remember seeing it for my first
- 27:55Speaker 2: time in my dad's bedroom. We were sitting there watching
- 27:58Speaker 2: it together and I was enthralled. I was like, this
- 28:01Speaker 2: is this is amazing. I love it.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Did you picture that it would like a baby bottle
- 28:06Speaker 3: just squeezed it.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I watched it and then I was a die hard fan.
- 28:13Speaker 2: I've been a diehard fan ever since then, and especially
- 28:16Speaker 2: in two thousand and one, when it came along, I was,
- 28:17Speaker 2: you know, probably in seventh or eighth grade, six or
- 28:19Speaker 2: seventh grade and just fell in love with it. And
- 28:21Speaker 2: then you know, me and Caaul going into college, we'd
- 28:23Speaker 2: go and sit a Buffalo Wow Wings for six, seven
- 28:26Speaker 2: eight hours, spend five dollars those poor service people.
- 28:31Speaker 1: It's just amazing that you've been able to keep this
- 28:35Speaker 1: ferocious mentality for so long, because I remember when you
- 28:38Speaker 1: first entered into the UFC the Michael Johnson fight. I
- 28:41Speaker 1: was so pumped for it because I was like, get ready,
- 28:43Speaker 1: because this is gonna be fucking wild, because I had
- 28:45Speaker 1: been a fan of years when you're fighting what was it,
- 28:46Speaker 1: World Series of Fighting, and then that Michael Johnson fight
- 28:50Speaker 1: was everything that I thought it would be. Fucking crazy,
- 28:52Speaker 1: just a wild ass fight.
- 28:54Speaker 4: Crazy coming out party.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Dude. I giggled so many times in that fight. Dude,
- 28:58Speaker 3: would you go to get the cage and you were
- 28:59Speaker 3: like you like look back and you were like, Oh,
- 29:01Speaker 3: I'm looking for the shot and you're like blocking off
- 29:03Speaker 3: the thing. Did you come back with the right hook
- 29:05Speaker 3: and then you let it back in again? You hit
- 29:07Speaker 3: it with the right hook again off the cage? Dude,
- 29:09Speaker 3: there's so many giggle sessions in there.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Uh.
- 29:11Speaker 3: I wasn't nervous because just again that's the way he fights.
- 29:14Speaker 3: And I'm like, no one's gonna forget this fight.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Michael Johnson was swinging.
- 29:18Speaker 3: I caught him with that left hands a few times.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Well that's the same left hand he knocked out dustin.
- 29:22Speaker 3: His left hand is so fast.
- 29:23Speaker 1: He did so fast and Michael's power, dude, And and
- 29:28Speaker 1: he was trying to win. I mean he was going
- 29:31Speaker 1: all out that you guys just emptied out in that fight.
- 29:35Speaker 1: It was fantastic.
- 29:36Speaker 3: And I was like, there it is the three rounder.
- 29:38Speaker 3: To get off the back flip took three rounds. He
- 29:42Speaker 3: got off there, fell up there, fell out. I was like,
- 29:44Speaker 3: you can do it. I'm out there. Retivation.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Always get so scared for your knees when you do that, like,
- 29:50Speaker 1: please don't hurt your knees. After you won. The time.
- 29:54Speaker 3: We're trading for Kabib, but we're over it. At high altitude,
- 29:57Speaker 3: he's doing backflips off the off the cage cage and
- 30:00Speaker 3: I was like, stop do this after the fight.
- 30:03Speaker 4: Yeah, He's like, hey, no more.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Backfell was like today Today's day, the day'say. I become
- 30:08Speaker 2: a bit like today's day.
- 30:11Speaker 3: At that moment, he's like, you know what, I was like,
- 30:14Speaker 3: stop ahead.
- 30:15Speaker 1: That is kind of true, right when when you get
- 30:18Speaker 1: something and all of a sudden you're special, then you
- 30:21Speaker 1: started protecting it and then you won't be special anymore.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I told him, I like, so today, today's day. It's crazy.
- 30:28Speaker 3: I never want him to stop being fucking crazy. Like
- 30:31Speaker 3: everything about him in life, when you play golf with him,
- 30:34Speaker 3: he's the highlight. He does ship that you'll never fucking see.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Like it's like everything you do is the highlight. Like
- 30:40Speaker 3: his life is like his fighting. He's fucking wild.
- 30:42Speaker 1: So your mentality you've never had to work on. I mean,
- 30:45Speaker 1: obviously you've learned lessons along the way, but you've never
- 30:48Speaker 1: had to like sit down and work on this mindset.
- 30:51Speaker 1: It's always been something you inherently possessed.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, I think it's crazy. I think crazy. I
- 30:58Speaker 2: think people just complicate things so much. Like when you
- 31:01Speaker 2: can truly understand that there's there's there is things you
- 31:05Speaker 2: can't control, but it's not everything. You can only control
- 31:08Speaker 2: what's inside of you. You know, you can only control
- 31:11Speaker 2: how you perceive things, how you react to things, the
- 31:14Speaker 2: work the world. Obviously, the preparation, but it's I mean,
- 31:19Speaker 2: there's so much, you know, and I guess I always
- 31:23Speaker 2: knew that something was coming, because no matter how far
- 31:28Speaker 2: off the road, you know, like I've made mistakes, you
- 31:33Speaker 2: know I've.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Done.
- 31:36Speaker 2: I was never an thank god, I was never an
- 31:38Speaker 2: alcoholic and never le but I was. I could say
- 31:40Speaker 2: I was. I was probably a drug addict. That's, you know,
- 31:43Speaker 2: one time in my life.
- 31:44Speaker 3: And what drugs.
- 31:48Speaker 2: I don't know. I have never told my parents about this,
- 31:50Speaker 2: so I don't know all of them, all of them.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I want so but it's and I know this is
- 31:56Speaker 2: gonna sound stupid, but so I went to school for
- 31:57Speaker 2: human services. I wanted to help people. A big part
- 32:01Speaker 2: of that is helping people come off drugs. And I
- 32:04Speaker 2: lost many over a handful of friends, really close friends
- 32:08Speaker 2: from drugs. Where I come from, we're not far from Mexico,
- 32:11Speaker 2: and we had the best. We had the best shit
- 32:14Speaker 2: coming right across the border before it ever got cut up,
- 32:18Speaker 2: and it was it was my life. You know, where
- 32:22Speaker 2: I'm from is very boring and so like you Chase again,
- 32:25Speaker 2: you know, we have it so good in this country.
- 32:26Speaker 2: We're always trying to create chaos in order to feel something,
- 32:30Speaker 2: and I guess that's what I was probably doing. And
- 32:34Speaker 2: in college is when I really you know, if I'm
- 32:37Speaker 2: going to help people come off of drugs, then how
- 32:40Speaker 2: can I ever even try to understand if I don't
- 32:45Speaker 2: know what they're chasing? And so that was a part
- 32:48Speaker 2: of it, and also a part was felt good, you know.
- 32:53Speaker 4: And so.
- 32:55Speaker 2: You know, once I did certain things, I knew what
- 33:00Speaker 2: people were chasing. But then I always knew that something
- 33:03Speaker 2: was bigger for me and better for me, and I
- 33:05Speaker 2: had something to do, and so that was always It
- 33:08Speaker 2: was never a crutch for me.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I was always like, that was awesome.
- 33:11Speaker 2: You know, I'm not doing it again.
- 33:13Speaker 1: What is it in your head that where you always
- 33:15Speaker 1: knew that you had something bigger?
- 33:19Speaker 2: Well, probably my faith. I mean, I've been my parents.
- 33:23Speaker 2: The best thing they ever did for me was make
- 33:26Speaker 2: me go to church every single Sunday and create a
- 33:29Speaker 2: relationship with God through the word of Jesus Christ and
- 33:36Speaker 2: just trying to live up to those expectations. I knew,
- 33:41Speaker 2: not that I was going to be a champion or anything.
- 33:43Speaker 2: I just knew that I couldn't take the easy way out,
- 33:48Speaker 2: you know, when you're on drugs or when you're living
- 33:52Speaker 2: in a lifestyle like that, then nobody expects anything from you.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Nobody wants anything from you. And that's an easy way
- 33:57Speaker 2: to live, you know, those right, there's no pressure, no expectation,
- 34:02Speaker 2: no expectations, no pressure, And I mean it really is.
- 34:05Speaker 2: I can understand how you can let that overcome the
- 34:10Speaker 2: passion to live, you know, And I don't know. I
- 34:14Speaker 2: just think the passion to live because of my faith
- 34:18Speaker 2: has never outweighed my desire to feel good.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I want to talk about the shift that you made
- 34:28Speaker 1: in your career from being the most exciting guy in
- 34:31Speaker 1: the world, wanting to be the most exciting guy in
- 34:34Speaker 1: the world, being happy with performing to the best of
- 34:36Speaker 1: your ability, whether you win or lose, to wanting to
- 34:40Speaker 1: get the belt. What was what started that decision.
- 34:46Speaker 2: It's weird because I don't remember a time or a
- 34:51Speaker 2: day where I made a change other than I'm not
- 34:55Speaker 2: going to get hit, you know, in the dustin Pooririe
- 34:58Speaker 2: fight and Eddie Alpertz fight, I absolutely almost broke them and.
- 35:05Speaker 4: It was no different than any of my other fights.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Nobody had just ever same with the elia, you know,
- 35:09Speaker 2: like nobody had ever got past it, nobody had ever
- 35:11Speaker 2: been able to withstand the ferocity of my actions for
- 35:15Speaker 2: two or three rounds, and then those guys did, and
- 35:21Speaker 2: I was like, what happened?
- 35:23Speaker 3: You know?
- 35:23Speaker 2: And ultimately I put myself in a position and I
- 35:27Speaker 2: got hit with a shot that took me out of
- 35:32Speaker 2: the fight. And so after those fights, I was like,
- 35:35Speaker 2: I have to not take these shots. And that was
- 35:39Speaker 2: ultimately all I can say that I changed mentally is
- 35:43Speaker 2: I'm gonna I don't want to get hit. I used
- 35:45Speaker 2: to never care about getting hit because it's like it
- 35:48Speaker 2: doesn't hurt. Nothing hurts in there. You don't feel nothing,
- 35:51Speaker 2: it's never hurt. And so that was really just the
- 35:54Speaker 2: mind tails. I just need to not let them get
- 35:57Speaker 2: me in a predicament where I'm not able to really
- 36:01Speaker 2: have to stop the fight.
- 36:02Speaker 3: So the shift, but he probably from outside to Yeah,
- 36:06Speaker 3: it's definitely there. There was a shift, and it wasn't
- 36:09Speaker 3: just like an instant shift. There was the two losses
- 36:12Speaker 3: in a row with Eddie and poyer Uh, where he's like,
- 36:15Speaker 3: I'm winning these fights and I need to be able
- 36:17Speaker 3: to get to the distance. And I was like, all right,
- 36:19Speaker 3: we got to become a spot fighter because you just
- 36:21Speaker 3: drowned people and you're what's happening is you're making mistakes.
- 36:25Speaker 3: We threw a low key against Poiet. He got caught
- 36:27Speaker 3: because he based back, lazy, with his shoulders above his hips.
- 36:31Speaker 3: So I was like, all right, let's be sharp, let's
- 36:33Speaker 3: fight in spots. Then he goes on a three fight
- 36:35Speaker 3: win streak where he's finding the right spots and putting
- 36:37Speaker 3: people out from from vic to Barbosa into cowboy Seroni
- 36:42Speaker 3: and that's where he's like. And then I sat down
- 36:45Speaker 3: with him and I was like, do you want to
- 36:46Speaker 3: be a champion? And I was like, this is how
- 36:48Speaker 3: you have to fight to be a champion, is be smart.
- 36:52Speaker 3: And he never said, he never said he did want
- 36:54Speaker 3: to be the most excited fighter. The boy. He would
- 36:56Speaker 3: tell me after fights, he's like, I'm not even trying
- 36:58Speaker 3: to fight excited, but look at me and it's fucking
- 37:01Speaker 3: like it's so amazing, like it's in them. It's just
- 37:04Speaker 3: how do we how do we get you to sprint
- 37:06Speaker 3: fifty yards, pull back for one hundred yards in jog
- 37:08Speaker 3: and then sprint for fifty yards and like be able
- 37:10Speaker 3: to know your your your your red line, don't don't
- 37:13Speaker 3: cross over that red line, don't hold red line well.
- 37:15Speaker 1: That that is again the experience that you've found in Wars.
- 37:18Speaker 1: It was so critical he could do it, but yeah,
- 37:21Speaker 1: I don't want to.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Make it and it is.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I think it's crazy. I think again the fact that
- 37:26Speaker 2: they said that he had outstruck me in the first
- 37:27Speaker 2: round thirty nine to thirty two or something.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Some hard jobs.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there's years we're devastating.
- 37:35Speaker 2: I'm talking about the perception. It looks like I'm getting hit.
- 37:40Speaker 2: It looks like it's all but I mean, my I
- 37:43Speaker 2: don't have special skin. I am able to see punches
- 37:48Speaker 2: and roll with them and roll with punches. If you
- 37:50Speaker 2: watch my you know, fight frame by frame, I'm not
- 37:53Speaker 2: getting hit for the most part.
- 37:55Speaker 1: You're moving with the punches.
- 37:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's be like water like I'm I'm constantly you know,
- 38:02Speaker 2: and intuitively making these calculations.
- 38:05Speaker 3: That's the scoring that when you see that, I don't
- 38:09Speaker 3: know who's counting that, but that's like amateur boxing. Amateur boxing,
- 38:12Speaker 3: if the white glove touches you in the face, even
- 38:14Speaker 3: if it's not a clean blow, that's considered. That's how
- 38:16Speaker 3: you judge. Yes, And that's where justin I think, where
- 38:20Speaker 3: you look at it from a point system, you can't
- 38:22Speaker 3: just look at the screen. And that's why you know,
- 38:25Speaker 3: judges can't look at a screen and go, oh, this
- 38:27Speaker 3: guy landed more, this is who won. You had the
- 38:29Speaker 3: damaging blows. I think everybody knows that. Like I get it,
- 38:32Speaker 3: Like I see the way you roll the shot. I
- 38:34Speaker 3: see the way that you fade off and allow the
- 38:36Speaker 3: shot not to go through your skull and deflect it.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Still it still gets touched to you. So it's considered
- 38:41Speaker 3: that they landed that shot. But the damage is like
- 38:44Speaker 3: what you do to people by the way that you
- 38:46Speaker 3: hip through that you drive through people is so different,
- 38:49Speaker 3: like like Justin hits unlike and he's still I still
- 38:53Speaker 3: think to this day. We got to ask SEUFC, but
- 38:55Speaker 3: they did a test on him to see who has
- 38:56Speaker 3: the hardest bones of the UFC. He had the hardest bone.
- 38:59Speaker 3: He kicks me. I'm just like, dude, I'm so glad.
- 39:01Speaker 3: I feel so bad for Luke. Here's his pet on
- 39:08Speaker 3: I kick him and his nuts swallow dude. I get
- 39:11Speaker 3: blue balls, bro, and so I can't kills the nerve
- 39:13Speaker 3: on the inside. I talked to a doctor about it
- 39:14Speaker 3: because I'm like, bro, like he kicks people and they
- 39:16Speaker 3: bruise on the inside of the lake, and it's because
- 39:18Speaker 3: the shot through, but there's a nerve on the inside
- 39:20Speaker 3: of lake. I'd go home and I tell my wife,
- 39:22Speaker 3: I'm like, babe, I got blue balls, because she's like
- 39:24Speaker 3: from who like Justin? She looks at me, like the
- 39:28Speaker 3: fuck you got blue balls from Justin?
- 39:29Speaker 1: For One of the things you were doing early in
- 39:31Speaker 1: your career that I always thought was so wild was
- 39:33Speaker 1: you were leg kicking people from a collar tie like
- 39:36Speaker 1: you were leg kick Oh my goodness, Wait, couldn't No
- 39:39Speaker 1: one's doing that like you were. One of the only
- 39:42Speaker 1: guys that I saw that was doing that that was
- 39:44Speaker 1: from the clench, was leg kicking. You've got some fucking
- 39:47Speaker 1: flexible hips man, because the way you were able to
- 39:50Speaker 1: do that from like right and tight like this, and then.
- 39:53Speaker 3: And not just you pull the leg out, Yeah, he
- 39:57Speaker 3: pulls them to their lee legs, so he's making a
- 39:59Speaker 3: base on that knee and and then it's just like
- 40:00Speaker 3: you got to stump in the ground. You're just trying
- 40:02Speaker 3: to bend that tree. Yeah, man, he's very good at that.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Let me tell you something about Luke, because I got
- 40:06Speaker 1: into the octagon right after you won and Luke and
- 40:10Speaker 1: he looked at each other.
- 40:11Speaker 2: He was like, he's like, dude, He's like he was,
- 40:16Speaker 2: He's like Joe was.
- 40:16Speaker 1: So he was so happy. It was It was amazing
- 40:21Speaker 1: because seeing all those videos and knowing he's in camp
- 40:24Speaker 1: with you all the time, and knowing how much he
- 40:25Speaker 1: loved you, watching the happiness that he had when you
- 40:29Speaker 1: won was fucking incredible.
- 40:30Speaker 4: No, Luke is one of my really really good friends.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Every time before the fight, every time Lord Trevor was.
- 40:35Speaker 2: In my corner, Luke corner. He used to go uh
- 40:38Speaker 2: to Arizona with me. I had no coaches. I would
- 40:40Speaker 2: just do it in between, you know, in between restling seasons,
- 40:42Speaker 2: and yeah, he would go down there with me and
- 40:44Speaker 2: just wrap my hands and he would just be there.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Wow, he's amazing. One of the best human beings on
- 40:49Speaker 3: her Yeah, I love that man. Can you tell him
- 40:51Speaker 3: about the Sunday? So the Sunday before the fight? So
- 40:56Speaker 3: so there was one time, but I think it was
- 40:57Speaker 3: in the Cowboy fight where you were you were pummeling
- 41:00Speaker 3: with Ben and he finished with a low cake on
- 41:03Speaker 3: Ben every time and I'm like, stop kicking your coach,
- 41:05Speaker 3: and he looks at me. He's like He's like, Trevor,
- 41:07Speaker 3: he used to drag me back on the mats.
- 41:08Speaker 2: He's kick, give me this, fucking give me this opportunity
- 41:13Speaker 2: to beat his ass. So we go golfing, Joe Sunday.
- 41:16Speaker 2: We go golfing Sunday before the fight. We get there Saturday,
- 41:18Speaker 2: we go golfing Sunday, and you know it's a Sunday.
- 41:21Speaker 2: We never work out on Sundays. And Trevor not Trevor,
- 41:25Speaker 2: Luke and Ben got fucking pickled. They each had like
- 41:30Speaker 2: three very very very stiff mark uh buddy Mary's. Luke
- 41:35Speaker 2: bought like twelve beers because we got there and hey,
- 41:38Speaker 2: everything's on the president and he's like, fuck yeah, I've
- 41:41Speaker 2: never heard that before. He's on the President. I'm gonna
- 41:43Speaker 2: drink until like whole ten or eleven. Trevor's like, let's
- 41:46Speaker 2: fuck with them. Let's tell him that we're gonna work
- 41:48Speaker 2: out later.
- 41:48Speaker 3: Well, we're gonna work out, but I'm telling you they're
- 41:50Speaker 3: going to be the workout.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I didn't know we were working out put it. I
- 41:53Speaker 2: had no fun. I thought he was fucking with me.
- 41:56Speaker 2: We're out there golfing. It's hot as ship. I'm sweating
- 41:58Speaker 2: my ass off I had no We were working out
- 42:01Speaker 2: that day, and he's like, let's fuck with them. Let's
- 42:02Speaker 2: tell him we're gonna work out. I was like, all right, cool, So.
- 42:04Speaker 3: I told him I was going to text him and
- 42:05Speaker 3: give the workout because I'll get all lay out the
- 42:07Speaker 3: workout for everybody. And I told Luke he was gonna
- 42:09Speaker 3: go three rounds of sparring, full on sparring, and then
- 42:13Speaker 3: Ben's got to go forty minutes straight, no breaks, just
- 42:16Speaker 3: grap it got wrestling, just grap and the dude I
- 42:19Speaker 3: told Justin that. I was like, all right, let's fuck
- 42:20Speaker 3: to see how he is. And dude, instantly before I
- 42:22Speaker 3: didn't text it, we just started talking about it. So
- 42:24Speaker 3: we're on the way home, driving home and dude, Ben
- 42:27Speaker 3: is like, dude, He's like, he's like, I'll just take
- 42:30Speaker 3: you down. And he's like, I asked him how many
- 42:33Speaker 3: times you can take him down? As many times I want, dude, minutes,
- 42:38Speaker 3: So they went twenty. Dude, you got what seven submissions
- 42:40Speaker 3: on your coach. He drunk him back on the mats.
- 42:42Speaker 3: It was so funny because I was like, dude, you
- 42:43Speaker 3: got to drag it back on the mask because I
- 42:44Speaker 3: gotta quitness this.
- 42:45Speaker 2: It's funny because I got a video.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Uh dude.
- 42:48Speaker 2: So we get home. I go home, I go down
- 42:49Speaker 2: and take a nap for like two hours, and they
- 42:51Speaker 2: just stay drinking up. My YouTube guy filmed everything, and
- 42:56Speaker 2: they're just talking so much shit, how they're gonna fuck
- 42:59Speaker 2: me up.
- 42:59Speaker 5: Luke was Luke was like, here be it that Like, yeah,
- 43:04Speaker 5: it looks like hey, I ain't saying hey this not
- 43:06Speaker 5: me and Tim, but they're making a plan how they're
- 43:08Speaker 5: gonna team up on me, and so you know, it's funny.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Then then he got the video there and I'm beating
- 43:14Speaker 2: Ben's ass. No, actually I went with Luke first, and
- 43:16Speaker 2: that was fucking him up.
- 43:18Speaker 3: And because Ben won't jump in.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Ben's like he's like, what the fuck, Ben? What the fuck?
- 43:23Speaker 3: Man?
- 43:24Speaker 2: Now is the time and he's asking for help, asking
- 43:27Speaker 2: for help.
- 43:27Speaker 4: I beat his ass.
- 43:28Speaker 1: And that didn't have fun.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Sure, its great coaches and our whole team is just
- 43:33Speaker 3: everybody's so dialed in.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that whole week is one of my Every time
- 43:35Speaker 2: we go, that whole week is one of my favorite experiences.
- 43:38Speaker 1: You were using the sauna in between workouts as well
- 43:41Speaker 1: and before and.
- 43:41Speaker 2: So one thing that just sucked. I say it was perfect.
- 43:45Speaker 2: You say it was perfect, It was not. It was
- 43:47Speaker 2: detrimental to ours. Yes, yeah, the humidity was there. I
- 43:51Speaker 2: didn't realize it because obviously it's not you know, it's
- 43:53Speaker 2: not something I can.
- 43:54Speaker 4: Worry about right now.
- 43:55Speaker 2: But after round one I just remember thinking, oh fuck,
- 43:59Speaker 2: I am so tired right now. How how is this possible?
- 44:02Speaker 2: And the amount of the amount of fluid I lost
- 44:04Speaker 2: with thank god, probably lost like fifteen.
- 44:07Speaker 1: It was in the seventies, dude.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Yes, seventies with the cool breeze. You know, when you
- 44:10Speaker 2: go out there, what you feel is that the cool breeze.
- 44:12Speaker 2: But in the fire Man it was different.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Yeah. I hated the fact that it was going to happen,
- 44:17Speaker 1: but I'm glad it did.
- 44:19Speaker 4: I'm again I would not take again.
- 44:21Speaker 1: I think, how could you change?
- 44:22Speaker 2: It affects me, it affects.
- 44:23Speaker 4: Him, you know. Again, I grew up in the country.
- 44:25Speaker 4: He's he's a city boy.
- 44:27Speaker 2: There's no way he's not a city But I don't
- 44:29Speaker 2: know him personally, but there's no way he's not a
- 44:30Speaker 2: city boy, you know. And so as a country country
- 44:33Speaker 2: boy from the desert in Arizona, like I was hoping
- 44:37Speaker 2: that it would be hot as fun hot as fun.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Like when I was like, oh god, these outside fights, Kilby, yeah,
- 44:45Speaker 3: you know, he was one, like dude, you were shaking, dude,
- 44:48Speaker 3: he was like trembling. I was like, holy shit.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Well, it is crazy to ask people to defend a
- 44:53Speaker 1: world title in a completely alien environment that you never
- 44:56Speaker 1: have fights in. We've had how many fights outside? We've
- 44:59Speaker 1: had the Abu Dhabi fight and like, what was that
- 45:01Speaker 1: two thousand and fucking nine or something like that?
- 45:06Speaker 2: They did? Didn't what was the setting? I wasn't there.
- 45:09Speaker 2: It was when Alissania did his famous walkout in like
- 45:13Speaker 2: it was covered but it was it seemed like the
- 45:15Speaker 2: environment was outside against that.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Well, we did one in Abu Dhabi when bj lost
- 45:27Speaker 1: to Frankie Edgar. That was outside in Dabi And that
- 45:32Speaker 1: was when Anderson Silver fought Damien Miyam.
- 45:34Speaker 3: Is that with that Ferrari building?
- 45:37Speaker 1: The Ferrari building was there, but I don't know if
- 45:39Speaker 1: it was in the same place they had.
- 45:42Speaker 4: Did they have a fight in the Ferrari building?
- 45:43Speaker 1: I think they did that. I wasn't there for that one.
- 45:45Speaker 1: I only went to one of the Abu Dhabi fights.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it wasn't It wasn't that long. Ago the last
- 45:51Speaker 2: seven years.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Remember the dude in Morocco said after the first round
- 45:54Speaker 3: he was done. He was just trying to survive. He
- 45:56Speaker 3: said it was so hot. Member.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I mean that's what I remember it being
- 46:00Speaker 2: over there. And then you know, once you realize the
- 46:02Speaker 2: climate over there, in the humidity, it's like do.
- 46:04Speaker 1: You remember dog Remember bow dog fight they had They
- 46:08Speaker 1: had to fight outside in the sun on the.
- 46:12Speaker 3: Beach Caesar Palace in Vegas. Remember Caesars Palace stayed the
- 46:16Speaker 3: boxing We got to fight there.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Vernal Phillips again, Yeah, that's right. They still always do.
- 46:22Speaker 2: World fighting on the NASCAR event.
- 46:25Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that was crazy.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Duran versus Herns, they were they were great. Yeah, yeah,
- 46:32Speaker 1: that's true. That's right. At least Vegas is dry.
- 46:36Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah to Arizona, Vegas.
- 46:38Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, humidity was what I was training for with
- 46:41Speaker 3: him was heatstroke, like dealing with it where you can't breathe.
- 46:43Speaker 3: It's heavy air.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Like so you're putting water on the rocks and as well,
- 46:47Speaker 1: and so.
- 46:49Speaker 3: We trained in a hotter gym. I turned the temperature
- 46:51Speaker 3: in the gyms just so he's getting used to dealing
- 46:53Speaker 3: with a little bit more heat stroke.
- 46:54Speaker 2: We would spike my heart rate and then I would
- 46:56Speaker 2: go in this song in fifteen minutes and then I
- 46:57Speaker 2: would come out and do ten rounds. Hmm.
- 47:01Speaker 3: It was great. I'm smart, glad we did.
- 47:03Speaker 1: It, very smart, very smart because that environment he means,
- 47:07Speaker 1: it's so completely different. I just ultimately, I think the
- 47:11Speaker 1: best way to fight is obviously the way you usually fight,
- 47:14Speaker 1: controlled environment. That's how it should be.
- 47:15Speaker 3: It was cool, though, Joe, you know why?
- 47:17Speaker 2: So we went.
- 47:19Speaker 3: We went, did a rehearsal, okay, and I'm like, why
- 47:21Speaker 3: are we rehearsing? It walked through like if this is
- 47:23Speaker 3: ain't a freaking wedding, like just tell us where to go?
- 47:25Speaker 3: The camera guys are always like, all right, your mark
- 47:27Speaker 3: here three, So why are we doing this? And then
- 47:30Speaker 3: we go there and we get stuck in this locker
- 47:32Speaker 3: room for two hours because of rain, and thank god
- 47:36Speaker 3: that happened because then I started to go oh because
- 47:39Speaker 3: it's all unexpected, and how Illiot said, Hey, I'm a visualizer.
- 47:42Speaker 3: I can't visualize this this arena, and I visualized a
- 47:46Speaker 3: lot too, so I was like I felt the exact
- 47:47Speaker 3: same thing when he said that, and that's when I knew, Hey,
- 47:51Speaker 3: these are going to be some huge unknowns. And I
- 47:53Speaker 3: had told him that night because their rain was coming,
- 47:55Speaker 3: Like it was crazy how the storm split around because
- 47:58Speaker 3: it was all bright red. I was like, this is
- 48:00Speaker 3: thunderstorms and we're.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Talking about pushing the fight till ten thirty pm.
- 48:04Speaker 3: We had planned fighting part of the night. Yeah, two
- 48:06Speaker 3: in the morning.
- 48:07Speaker 2: I was staying up till like three am. After the rehearsal,
- 48:09Speaker 2: I was like, three am when we fight, I'm gonna
- 48:11Speaker 2: start staying up.
- 48:12Speaker 3: But that's what was cool, Like the walkout, like having
- 48:15Speaker 3: the soldiers, like just walking through the soldiers. There was
- 48:18Speaker 3: that we weren't able to take any of this in Joe,
- 48:22Speaker 3: and I can't really speak for him. I know where
- 48:23Speaker 3: his mind's up. I couldn't from a coaching standpoint. I
- 48:27Speaker 3: was nervous as fuck because you don't know, there's no
- 48:29Speaker 3: pattern I can take on right now and kind of
- 48:31Speaker 3: put myself.
- 48:31Speaker 1: And breathe to it.
- 48:33Speaker 3: It was very unique and at the end I couldn't
- 48:36Speaker 3: even really smile. It was just like, dude, I'm just
- 48:39Speaker 3: like blown away. Now I can kind of just look
- 48:41Speaker 3: around slowly and just try to take in everything. Because
- 48:44Speaker 3: it was very, very hard to go through that scenario
- 48:48Speaker 3: with the pressure of us fighting on this stage at
- 48:52Speaker 3: the White House. We're the Americans. We're a six to
- 48:55Speaker 3: one underdog. That gets to you that you know, when
- 48:58Speaker 3: you hear that over and over and over and over,
- 49:00Speaker 3: it's you know, your phone, dude, you you kind of Marlin.
- 49:06Speaker 3: But having uh you left, just that scenario was so unique.
- 49:12Speaker 3: And then once it was over, then it was like,
- 49:13Speaker 3: now I get to enjoy the White House and just
- 49:16Speaker 3: being here in this this this.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Look at that there you can see it. What is
- 49:19Speaker 1: he reading there? Is that the Decoration of Independence?
- 49:22Speaker 3: So we weren't in the room with him right there
- 49:24Speaker 3: through the rehearsal.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Yeah, crazy, he's in the Oval office stepping out and
- 49:30Speaker 1: then all.
- 49:30Speaker 3: The soldiers walking through. So cool, like having the two
- 49:32Speaker 3: guys next to him, and a.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Lot of people complained about this happening at the White
- 49:38Speaker 1: House and you don't think this is cool. This is
- 49:43Speaker 1: How could you not like this anyone? This shouldn't be
- 49:46Speaker 1: taking place to shot the fuck dude. Life is a fight.
- 49:49Speaker 1: World is a fight.
- 49:50Speaker 3: Like incredible to watch, creational, It's.
- 49:53Speaker 1: A wild thing to watch. By the way, how much
- 49:55Speaker 1: gold did Trump put on those walls? Gold everywhere? Look
- 49:57Speaker 1: at these fucking gold design.
- 49:59Speaker 3: When we're at the the Oval office. The first thing
- 50:01Speaker 3: I said is, I was like, this, he's small as
- 50:03Speaker 3: hill like when I see it our pictures, that like
- 50:05Speaker 3: seems so big, and I was, But the gold pieces
- 50:07Speaker 3: on the wall is the first thing. I was, like,
- 50:09Speaker 3: they dust that shit every day because dude was so clean.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Well he put that up there. None of that was there,
- 50:14Speaker 1: None of that was there. He was explaining to me
- 50:16Speaker 1: there was no gold.
- 50:17Speaker 3: I wanted to have gold.
- 50:18Speaker 1: He's got a gold cherub, like a solid gold cherub
- 50:21Speaker 1: that's above like one of the doors he goes. If
- 50:23Speaker 1: putin comes, hopefully it doesn't fall in his head. It's
- 50:26Speaker 1: like he's got gold everywhere. It's all him. He redesigned
- 50:29Speaker 1: a bunch of the things there. You know, he's a builder, right,
- 50:31Speaker 1: So that's why he wanted to do the ballroom. That's
- 50:33Speaker 1: why he wanted to keep it. You know, he likes
- 50:35Speaker 1: everything in gold. He's a gold guy.
- 50:40Speaker 3: Was Alison powers Broat.
- 50:42Speaker 1: We were just watching you look at the Declaration of
- 50:45Speaker 1: Independence before you walked out, which is also wild, like
- 50:48Speaker 1: this is never gonna happen again. This is more historic
- 50:52Speaker 1: than Rumbling the Jungle, more historic than I mean, think
- 50:55Speaker 1: about all the great fights that we've all watched as
- 50:58Speaker 1: kids that were like, remember that, this tops everything because
- 51:03Speaker 1: of the scene, because of the fact that not only
- 51:06Speaker 1: is it at the White House, but the American who's
- 51:09Speaker 1: a six to one on some books Underdog pulls it
- 51:12Speaker 1: off in spectacular fashion, and just the seesaw of the
- 51:16Speaker 1: fight back and forth, the back and forth of the
- 51:18Speaker 1: fight was fucking huge because the second round was crazy.
- 51:21Speaker 1: I was like, oh, no, it's letting it go on again.
- 51:24Speaker 3: When when it's our corner, all the coaches were like, dude,
- 51:26Speaker 3: they're going to stop it, and I was said out loud,
- 51:28Speaker 3: I was like, please let it go on. And I
- 51:31Speaker 3: just wanted to finish like a definitive ending dude, because
- 51:34Speaker 3: that would have been a point where it's like, especially
- 51:36Speaker 3: with him going, hey, I want to go in and continue,
- 51:38Speaker 3: and then we have got her come out and say.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Hey you are God from Mark Goddard. Yeah, okay, because
- 51:43Speaker 1: if it wasn't for Mark Goddard, if another lesson he
- 51:46Speaker 1: wanted referee, you think he did he wanted out. Yeah,
- 51:49Speaker 1: you don't.
- 51:50Speaker 2: You don't you know for a fact, you do not
- 51:52Speaker 2: ever as a fighter say I cannot see it's sober,
- 51:56Speaker 2: and he was counting on that. He said he had
- 51:57Speaker 2: already stated he didn't need to say it again. He
- 52:00Speaker 2: did not think there was. I don't think he thought
- 52:01Speaker 2: there was, so you think.
- 52:02Speaker 3: That he called Goddard a turkey. Internally, he was like
- 52:05Speaker 3: when he said you're gonna.
- 52:07Speaker 2: Hey, I was playing that moment. He just like, I've
- 52:10Speaker 2: don't you know, I've tried, and it might have been like,
- 52:12Speaker 2: you know, the little devil on his shoulder, trying to
- 52:14Speaker 2: get him out, and then he reevaluated and redunking and
- 52:18Speaker 2: understood that he had to keep fighting because you say,
- 52:20Speaker 2: dunkn rethunk it. I stopped them. I stopped I stopped
- 52:29Speaker 2: him twice. I stopped him twice that night. There's no
- 52:32Speaker 2: doubt about it.
- 52:33Speaker 3: That's I love it. I love it.
- 52:34Speaker 1: This episode is brought to you by on EX off Road.

- 53:27Speaker 1: Go to on xmaps dot com. Slash Joe Rogan, Well,
- 53:33Speaker 1: it was it was a big factor that Goddard let
- 53:36Speaker 1: it go on, because then we got to see that
- 53:38Speaker 1: epic fourth round which is fucking crazy, which was just
- 53:41Speaker 1: in the end when you landed that knee the body
- 53:44Speaker 1: that was like the final Oh that was.
- 53:47Speaker 3: Right now that he just starts topping it where he got.
- 53:50Speaker 1: The helmod Yeah, and then then he has to quit
- 53:54Speaker 1: on a stool. And if Goddard had just given to
- 53:58Speaker 1: that referee or that judges or the doctor's rather desires
- 54:01Speaker 1: here it is, I love how you.
- 54:03Speaker 3: Punch right here right on the spot. Yeah, oh right,
- 54:07Speaker 3: oh right, right.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Just last Yeah, he did not like that, and that
- 54:11Speaker 1: was the end. Crazy.
- 54:15Speaker 2: I mean, it's crazy, how different. So again, being a
- 54:18Speaker 2: fan of the sport, I've got to watch, you know,
- 54:20Speaker 2: I would have usually watched this from and yeah, it
- 54:22Speaker 2: would have been the most fucking incredible thing ever.
- 54:25Speaker 4: Being the fighter, you know, you're really.
- 54:26Speaker 2: Not appreciating any of that because you're so locked into
- 54:32Speaker 2: It's like golfy, like you don't know, but golfing is
- 54:34Speaker 2: like certain swing thoughts, you know, and nothing else can
- 54:37Speaker 2: come in, nothing can creep in. And so me looking
- 54:41Speaker 2: at the Decoration of Independence, I was looking at it,
- 54:44Speaker 2: but I didn't I didn't take it in as as
- 54:48Speaker 2: this being the decoration. I was sitting there, I was like, Okay,
- 54:50Speaker 2: gott to reset his feet, gotta control, gotta move left,
- 54:53Speaker 2: gotta move left.
- 54:54Speaker 4: Can't get against the fence, you know.
- 54:56Speaker 2: And then those are the thoughts I'm having as through
- 54:59Speaker 2: the whole walkout, And so I'm really not taking any
- 55:01Speaker 2: of it in as it as it you know, as
- 55:03Speaker 2: the show, or as the theatrics of it.
- 55:06Speaker 4: Of course, not watching it in hindsight. Obviously it's fucking awesome.
- 55:10Speaker 1: There was something special about you warming up with the
- 55:12Speaker 1: American flag on your shoulder to we were watching that.
- 55:15Speaker 1: There was something special about watching you shadow box before
- 55:17Speaker 1: all this with the American flag on, I was like,
- 55:21Speaker 1: if he wins, good Lord, if he wins tonight, it's
- 55:25Speaker 1: gonna be fucking insane. And it was. Is the feeling
- 55:30Speaker 1: of like joy throughout the building, throughout the grounds, like
- 55:34Speaker 1: the happiness that everybody had seen had been there to
- 55:37Speaker 1: see such an incredible event and such an amazing cap
- 55:40Speaker 1: to that event with your fight. It was just nuts.
- 55:43Speaker 3: It felt like a whole arena to me. It was
- 55:45Speaker 3: crazy for the amount of people that you could see here.
- 55:47Speaker 1: It is to back flip the White House.
- 55:56Speaker 3: I rolled out of it. Hey tell me, tell me
- 55:59Speaker 3: what was it? Tell me what did you Use's.
- 56:03Speaker 2: First law, object in motion needs to state. I just
- 56:05Speaker 2: stayed in emotion.
- 56:06Speaker 1: Stay in motion. Look at the size of that fucking
- 56:09Speaker 1: crowd that was outside.
- 56:10Speaker 3: So you could have seen this crowd, like I could
- 56:12Speaker 3: have seen this crowd, but.
- 56:13Speaker 1: You could hear them and you could feel them, dude,
- 56:17Speaker 1: you could feel the energy. I mean, even though there
- 56:20Speaker 1: was only four thousand people, did not feel like four
- 56:22Speaker 1: thousand people. It felt like one hundred thousand people because
- 56:25Speaker 1: all those people were behind us. You know, it was
- 56:28Speaker 1: how many people were in that plan, eighty five thousand plus. Yeah,
- 56:32Speaker 1: it happened so fast. The size of the group outside
- 56:35Speaker 1: was insane. Yeah, I mean, and they're watching on these
- 56:38Speaker 1: giant screens and freaking out like a concert.
- 56:41Speaker 3: We were at the waves. It was like, dude, that's
- 56:43Speaker 3: what I pictured like Woodstock being like dude, I looked
- 56:46Speaker 3: at I could not see the end of the people.
- 56:47Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it was The ways were nuts. When we
- 56:50Speaker 1: first walked out, it was like, holy shit, this is crazy.
- 56:53Speaker 1: But it just shows how hyped people were for this event,
- 56:57Speaker 1: you know. I mean it was an incredible event. I
- 56:59Speaker 1: mean the UFC production team, they just knocked it out
- 57:02Speaker 1: of the park, and then more importantly, you knocked it
- 57:05Speaker 1: out of the park. Cap It couldn't have gone better,
- 57:08Speaker 1: And the most important thing was that you did have
- 57:10Speaker 1: to overcome that. We did see a real back and forth,
- 57:13Speaker 1: and we did see the skills that led people to
- 57:16Speaker 1: believe that this guy is the number one pound for
- 57:17Speaker 1: pound fighter in the world. I mean, his fucking boxing
- 57:20Speaker 1: is elite.
- 57:21Speaker 2: It is a sharp shooter, and but I mean my
- 57:24Speaker 2: coach is a fucking genius. I mean, when it comes
- 57:28Speaker 2: to like again, it's really hard to you always sound
- 57:31Speaker 2: right in hindsight. But the strategy we had was so
- 57:36Speaker 2: perfect to fight a guy like that. I mean, if
- 57:39Speaker 2: I think if you ask him right now, which way
- 57:42Speaker 2: was justin moving, He's gonna the guy was moving right
- 57:46Speaker 2: the whole time because my head is so so heavy
- 57:49Speaker 2: and I lean over to that side, but I was
- 57:51Speaker 2: moving left the entire time. And he's so pointed that
- 57:56Speaker 2: you know he's powerful here. But when you when you
- 57:59Speaker 2: put him here, like nobody can push and spring like
- 58:03Speaker 2: He's not ever going to take off sprinting that way
- 58:05Speaker 2: as fast as he can. He's gonna have to gather
- 58:07Speaker 2: and reset and then and then point and then go.
- 58:11Speaker 2: And I constantly kept readjusting him. And it was so subtle,
- 58:17Speaker 2: And that's what fighting is. It's subtle, subtle movements. But
- 58:20Speaker 2: I mean his game plan was and then his game
- 58:25Speaker 2: plan his mind my ability, but really it's my athletic ability.
- 58:31Speaker 2: Like if people don't understand how athletic I am, and
- 58:35Speaker 2: I think that is what surprises every opponent I've ever thought,
- 58:39Speaker 2: is how you know herky, jerky, twitchy, how explosive and
- 58:44Speaker 2: how athletic I am.
- 58:46Speaker 4: And I think that's the biggest asset that I have.
- 58:48Speaker 1: Why do you think anybody be surprised by that at
- 58:50Speaker 1: this stage? Why do you think they're.
- 58:52Speaker 2: Surprised because the human because it doesn't look like that.
- 58:54Speaker 3: No, you're I justin I think you're looking into the
- 58:57Speaker 3: Patty fight. I feel like the Patty fight. You you
- 59:00Speaker 3: because a lot of people are like, hey, you look older.
- 59:02Speaker 3: You look this because the way we fought, like our
- 59:03Speaker 3: sty our game.
- 59:05Speaker 4: How sqeez is that now?
- 59:06Speaker 2: I mean, if you watch the Patti fight, you would
- 59:08Speaker 2: never expect you would only expect punches coming from here
- 59:12Speaker 2: because he would pull and I had to like wrangle
- 59:15Speaker 2: him in and this guy no shot palm strikes.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Like we need to palm strike him. We need to
- 59:20Speaker 3: keep him inside of our loop. And uh, if you're
- 59:23Speaker 3: throwing straight shots at Patty, Patty will disengage very long
- 59:26Speaker 3: with his his upper body. So he was throwing wild
- 59:29Speaker 3: shots and then long uppercuts like stay on the outside
- 59:32Speaker 3: when you're thrown upper cuts. Patty's got very good knees
- 59:34Speaker 3: coming in, so we can't get too deep with the head.
- 59:36Speaker 3: Very simple plan, but also it was like make it
- 59:39Speaker 3: chaotic as most chaotic as you could be. Uh, to
- 59:42Speaker 3: be able to do that because Patty his blitzing was
- 59:44Speaker 3: very fast. He's a very good blitzer. He'll he'll blitz
- 59:46Speaker 3: past you and almost like running type of bunches like
- 59:49Speaker 3: old v door bell for but this fight is a
- 59:52Speaker 3: lot different where it's now elbow's in. We have to
- 59:55Speaker 3: be tied in these types of positions and we need
- 59:58Speaker 3: to step to his center and get on hi his
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: back foot line or outside of his back foot line.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: And that was like a key factor to this one
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: is because Ili is very front heavy and we'll bounce
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: back and forth. So once he goes to this angle,
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: we need to attack the rear shoulder and once he
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: starts to reset, now we're gonna be able to jab
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: and stick the jab at the rear shoulder where your
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: jab was landing. Here's my favorite part is the jab
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: wasn't landing here where Ali has got a very good slide.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: We're jabbing outside, so you're not doing inside jab coming under.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: You're jabbing from outside your shoulder, which is pushing him
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: on his rear foot. And then once we started a pressure,
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: my favorite part is the jab pause right hand his
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: left foot, Justin's left foot when we go outside his
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: rear foot right there he opened his lead foot and
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: he got his foot outside, and that's also in case
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: the right hand count.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: That was a giant moment. In the sound of it was, oh,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: that was such a hard.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Do that one more time, Jamie, And watch his lead
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: foot after the jab.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Now watch his left foot after the jab outside the rear.
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: Foot boom, and that because he's got a high shoulder.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: If I'm throwing a right hand down this point, if
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: you were looking at me, Joe, if you're if I'm here,
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: if he gets his foot out and now the shot
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: is coming from here, so we're able to put him
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: on the back foot and find it. Because Alien has
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: got a very good shoulder tongue. He also dropped that
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: right hand down. Yeah, it was beautiful.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: It was beautiful, and it was such a giant moment
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: in the fun like, look where I started.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: I started with my back to us, and look a
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: left left. M hmm, left left left.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: But if you go out to the left backwards where
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: that's where Iliot to me is the best how we
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: stopped Volk where he'll throw at you and then you
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: go and then then he readjusts his lead shoulder almost
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: to us. Alpa, super dangerous there. That was one thing
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: we talk about. We cannot go backwards to the left
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: because that's where we get square. And ilia, dude, he's
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: very front heavy, so he will attack you quick and
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: he gets there fast.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Well, if he can recover from this, it's going to
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: be a big lesson, a big lesson learn. And you know,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: I wonder if he'll still have those celebration dinners the
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: night before.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: There's no way he better not. That's that's out to
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: his coaches, to be honest with you.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: It's it's amazing. Hubris is an amazing thing. Like it.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: People love that kind of confidence, They love that belief
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: in themselves and when someone pulls it off. People were
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: talking for days about the all of Verify. You know,
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: he celebrated the night before in that crazy.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: And it been it worked that time and it but
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: the lack.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Of experience being the nail, so much experience being the hammer, and.
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: He never thought he had to be here.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: But you keep saying that they wanted to go back
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: to this thing that you said that people don't think
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: you're athletic, and I don't agree with that. I don't
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: understand why.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: I don't that.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: I mean, maybe watches the Michael Johnson fight even I
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: think you got to I.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: Got to college, you know, my freshman year of college
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: and I did a uh cartwell to a backlip and
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: these guys two. One guy was like, I would have
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: never fucking guessed you could do some ship like that. Like,
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: I just don't understand. You know, if you look at me,
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: I don't look like an athlete. But dude, you want
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: no I know, I know. I just see you talking. Perception.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: No, no, no, your perception's crazy. Listen, you look like
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: an athlete. What are you talking?
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: He said. Dude, he sent me in this picture when
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: I first met him from he went up to do
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: a clinic with his coach up in Granby with Ben Charrington,
- 1:03:21Speaker 3: and uh, he sends me this video. I don't know where.
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: I open it up and he's got a soccer ball
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: and he's in this auditorium with the pads that out
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: of the ground and he's got his phone set up
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: on that the pads that are against the wall. He
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: throws the soccer ball up in the air and he
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: does one of those bicycle kicks he played, just like
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: one or two years he did a bicycle kick, landed
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: on his feet and the ball knocked the phone off.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: The freaking thing. Dude, he hit the freaking phone. There
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: was the coolest thing I've ever seen. I was like, Bro,
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: you are DUTs. This guy snowboarding. We had snowboard because
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: Iro professional when I was younger, got taken out out
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: of high school four and he this dude. He would
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: catch things so fast and his tumbling. There was one
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: time we watching him and he was in moguls and
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: moguls stock on a snowboard. He does this three sixty,
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: catches his edge, falls to his back and bounces off
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: one of the moguls to a backflip right back into
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: the moguls. And do these people on this I thought
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: you bet to do that ship they're look dude. I
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: was like, Bro, his toppling skills, dude, you're freaking nuts.
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: You are an athlete.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: I think everybody knows, well, you're not built like Paula
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: costaf that's what you mean, you know, it's like you're
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: not you know, there's there's guys that have less body
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: fat than you, and guys have more prominent muscles than you.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: But nobody looks at you fighting and doesn't think you're athletic.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: I think it's the experts after the Paddy fight saying, oh,
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: he looks sloppy, and those fights got to be sloppy.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Those people are retarded. Yeah, did that fight like like chaos.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: Looks like you were going to press him and you
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: it also looked like you were kind of disdainful of
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: his ability to hurt you.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: Then he just yeah, you know exactly.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: Yeah, once once I didn't respect his power. I was like,
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: I'm fucking walking through.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's what it looked like. It looked like
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: you were just just trying to make it as chaotic.
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: You make it sound like you had like a water boy,
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: like someone was like the water sucks, he's making the noises. No,
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: you don't know.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: But that's also probably a good thing that you think
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: about yourself that way, you know, because it forces you
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: to rise above and beyond anybody's expectations of you, you know.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: And I think one of the things about this fight
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: that makes it so important is because Ilia was so dangerous,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: you had to get like deep in this zone. You
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: couldn't have a moment like the Max fight.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Well what the Max fight got me here? Without that,
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: I would have never.
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: Been as hungry.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: I said it was gonna happen, and it didn't happen,
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: didn't happen, didn't happen, Then it happened. It's like, okay,
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: now I can I can never let my parents seem
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: like that again. That was that was a driving factor,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: like I can never let my mom. I remember getting
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: knocked out. I don't remember get knocked out. I got
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: knocked out.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: I don't remember anything.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I don't remember him getting his hand raised and had
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: to have been forty minutes to an hour, and then
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: I just my first recollection is being in the ambulance
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: and see my mom's face.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: Can I tell you that? Can I tell that story?
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: Yeah, tell me what I did because I still don't know.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: So we're in the ambulets, okay, and you never know
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: who When I came back, your mom standing outside the
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: back doors and we're waiting for the driver that that
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: there's a medic in there with us. But he's he's good,
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: but he keeps asking the same question over and over
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: that I'm worried about, Like, you know, everybody's parents are
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: different on how they react, you know, and his mom
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: was just cool, just like I was so impressed. I
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: was so impressed with her just spirit of seeing that happen.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: But just is laying there and he's like he's cool
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: and everything he does, so he's got like this cool
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: like lay like he's like he's like, you know, just
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: got stopped. And he's laying there and he's like he'll
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: look at me and he gets like his head. He's like,
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: I got knocked out. And I was like, yeah, it's
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: like like, well round, and I said last second of
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: the fight, and he goes, good for him, dude, I'm
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: telling you, like two minutes to go by and we'd
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: just be having a normal conversation and he look at me,
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: are get knocked out? And I was like, yep, dude,
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: it happened. Over it over yes, But him saying good
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: for him the way he said it every time that
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: he came back to it, like that's the type of
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: person Justin is, like if he losing competition, the better
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: man won that night, And that to me is something
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: that stands out to me. That's character character of him
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: saying when he does it that that's subconscious traits that
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: you have.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: That character is also the character that allows you to
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: reach your full potential. Absolutely because you're not being held
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: back by any bullshit ego things, not fake, because there's
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: a lot of people that are held back. As good
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: as they are, they don't ever reach their full potential
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: because they have some bullshit ego problem.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: Absolutely, they care of what everybody thinks.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: And that in that situation, losing that fight in the
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: last second of the last round and having that reaction,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: that is the truest test of character that that man
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: is ever going to go through. That is true, a
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: test of character in front of the whole world.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: But I remember first to see her, I'm all's face though,
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: saw our face, and I saw no concern. She was
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: worried about.
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: Me, but she was not concerned.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: Cho wasn't freaked out.
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: No, she wasn't freaked out at all.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: I was like, and that's when I I never I
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: never reset and asked if I had gotten knocked out
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: again after that moment, I don't think.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: No, No, it happened for probably I'd say you probably
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: asked it six or seven times and then once. Then
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: we were cool for probably five minutes before I went
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: to the hospital. They were totally cool. The cool part
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: about this, Joe is those are some of my and
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: it sucks because he's taking a shot like this. But
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: me as a coach and as someone that just loves
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: fighting and loves the inspiration and what these guys do
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: is those are my proudest moments. Winning a fight like this,
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: it was proud and and you know, take it in.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: You're going, wow, this is a cool spot to be
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: in and you have to be grateful for it. But
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: there's times where I'm caught smiling when my fighters are down,
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: like when when Tomorrow got kicked and I stood next
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: to him with the biggest smile just because I'm like, dude,
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: you went out on your shield. You were looking so good,
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: and this is the way you stand up again. So
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: important to me. Justin Sallas one time with Tim Means,
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: it was one of my proudest moments, just to see
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: his subconscious like I love the mindset.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: Hard knee dude.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: Tim Means hits him with the knee and he fights
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: through it a little bit and takes another knee and
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: he goes down and he's on the ground and his
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: right leg is still like moving and he's like still
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: punching and he's out and I'm like, dude, that's a
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: fighting spirit, Like there is no quitted like you. You're
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: fighting through being knocked out, and subconsciously he's still in
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: the fight and his body is still reacting that way
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: instead of shelling up and being like I just got rocked,
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: I'm gonna shell up. I could not wait to get
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: in the octagut, and they're like, not trying to let
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: me in. I'm like, let me just get over to
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: him and sit next to him, put some ice on
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: him back. When we stop, guys, I'm always over to
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: the other opponent first. To me, That's that's the coolest part,
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: is being able to see someone go out there and
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: do their best and then to watch them come back.
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: And that's why I'm very excited to kind of see
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: what happens with Ilia. This is gonna be a hard
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: one to overcome, but I hope he does because he's
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: he's he's that talented. If he takes the right lessons,
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: that's going to be a super inspirational thing to overcome.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: It's gonna be hard, but I I sure.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Hope we get the witness at I wonder if he's
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: going to stay at one fifty five. There are big
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: guys at one fifty five, and he's he wasn't that
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: big for forty five. You know, when you think about
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: weight cutting in the modern era, like you were, you're
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: considerably bigger than him. When you guys were standing next
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: to each other like this is, there's a big difference.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: I've also really focused on getting bigger last three or
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: four fights.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I mean, I you were eight, so he
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: was touched.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: I touched eighties.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: This fight we waited on Saturday, eleven Saturday. When I
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: went to bed, I think I was on eighty four.
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: Oh wow.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: And then I think when I woke up, I was
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: like one seventy six. That's how much WI we're flowing.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: It's crazy. Our bodies are crazy.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: Right, especially all the weight cutting.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: But I think when I got there, I was pissing
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: so much. I was actually too hydrated for the drug test.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: So I had to piss three three times. They couldn't
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: drink water.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: You were too hydrated for a drug test.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so if the piss is too diluted, then they
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: make you do it again.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Really Yeah, that's that's why you know, doing it after
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: a fight. I used to do it after the fights
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: all the time. But your adrenaline's going, so you don't peek.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: So it takes a long times, Like we've hated locker
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: rooms for hours waiting for the piss test. But when
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: you're doing it after like rehydration, that's a shitty thing
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: because these guys have to hydrate. Everybody's fucking taking as
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: much flu as they can, So that makes it tough.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: But with the weight cutting piece, with him going back down,
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: I agree with you. I think Ilia is a smaller body,
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: but he's also a big advantage for alias speed and
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: when you go up and wait, that speed is a
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: huge factor. If you see a lot of guys go up,
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: like with Max, Max kept it, kept his speed when
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: he came up. He when he went back down, I
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: think everybody was like, oh he beat Max, He beat
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: a drained Max.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: Yeah. I think that weight cut down to forty five
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: for him was bru.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: That's and this is where from like a coaching standpoint,
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: if it is hard for you to make it at
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: that weight, I care about the longevity of a person
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: and I've seen guys get dropped with jabs because of
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: bad weight cuts. Yes, and that going back down, and
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: that's to me the scariest part in this in this
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: this fight game.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: Well, I think there's two things we have to change
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: the fight game. One of them is weightcutting, and two
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: of them is your gloves. But the weight cutting thing,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: don't you think that we need more weight classes?
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: Or I should say that, I should say, do you
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: think we need more?
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: I think there's there's there's many ways. I think you're
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: gonna have to have some type of a weight class,
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: and there's different ways to do it. Like maybe you
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: have where you can't go over a certain amount of
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: weight after you make weight and you weigh in a
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: week out where you can really recover.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Because I think guys are gonna do it anyway. It's
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: gonna I think.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: I think for me, I want nothing to change.
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: I mean, we are grown ass men and women and
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: we're making the choices right.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: But you can make fifty five and it's good for
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: your frame. Now, max is for me to make fifty five. Sure,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: it's hard, No, no, no, I'm not thinking it's easy. But
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: you can make it, even made it over and over
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: and over again. But like, think about guys that are
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: in between.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Like sixty or sixty five are like in boxing now.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Seventy to eighty five is crazy. Eighty five to two
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: oh five is bananas, and then two five to sixty five.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: That's those weak classes are already watered down in a way,
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: and so you just gonna water it down more.
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: So these are my thoughts and my research that I've
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: done that that it's it's I've talked to doctor D
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: about it, and I want to get some expert, some
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: doctor who can actually talk to me about this, because
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: when I started researching boxing and why is there so
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: many deaths in boxing, what stood out to me was
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: almost every death in boxing in the last ten to
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: fifteen years, there's every once in a while it's from
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: a punch where they get dropped and they don't get
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: up and they get hemorrhagy. Almost all of them are
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: past the ninth round, especially the ones I'm talking about
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: that don't take a punch. They're past the ninth round
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: and it looks like they start to get tired and
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: they're just like, hey, I need to take a knee
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: and lay down. A lot of these guys are winning
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: the fight and not even taking a lot of damage.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: And if we're cutting weight the day before, you're teaching
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: your body to sweat and sweat and sweat. To me,
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: I believe because I've had a fighter where, you know,
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: come on, on his last fight, we were crapping so bad,
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: so scary, so freaking scary. Like I was within like
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: like minutes of call, and I talked to the whole
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: team about it. But if you dehydrate yourself, think of
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: my lips. If they get dehydrated, they crack when I smile.
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: And if you dehydrate your brain. And I talked to
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: doctor Di. I was like, could that be something, if
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: you dehydrate your brain, we cast something. He's like absolutely,
- 1:14:48Speaker 3: And then I started to research that. But if you
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: go back and look at all the boxers and if
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: we can get someone that could do their true research
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: that understands this stuff, that to me is like what
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: scares me about weight cutting because you're training your body
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: to lose that amount of weight and when you start
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: to do things in patterns, you just took all the
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: nutrients out of your body and then you're going hard
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: in a fight like that. And that was like the
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: big thing with that Tony Ferguson fight. That's kind of
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: funny now, but it wasn't funny to me. I didn't
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: give no water for five round fight. That is crazy
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: and that the longer you take your brain to that
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: point of dehydration.
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: Why didn't you give them water? You just forgot dude.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Yeah, we were locked in.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: This guy don't train with water. So it was like, dude, I.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: Don't drink water because everyone was like water for pussies, no.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: Talking about the mind.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: You don't drink any water and training at all.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: He'll drink afterwards, like we did this fight.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: They made me this day.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: So do you think that that that.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: No, because I it doesn't.
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: It can't because I'm fucking working right now.
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: I'm locked in, Like I might not get water one day.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: You know, there might I might want water.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Even when you're doing strength and conditioning everything nothing.
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: I never drink water.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Wow, So you make sure you're hydrated before you get
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: in there.
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: I drink a lot after and once.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: You're in there, you're just going that's crazy. That's me,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: you through, asshole. You know Ramadant's nuts, Like I know
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Bellall was training with no water and you know, drinking
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: no water during the day and then training again at nighttime,
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: and you know that's that's got to be so hard.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: But going through hard training sessions and no water, so
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: you do it. But so there's two things going on
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: why I would think maybe you could do more work
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: and get more round, more reps and more of this
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: if you're rehydrating. But then the other thing is like
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: would you and how much mental toughness? So you're getting
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: by no give, and the mental toughness thing ultimately won
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: you this fight. There is a lot of human beings
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: at the top top level of the sport that would
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: have folded in that second round.
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: You did look the happiest look you gave you.
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: Not once, not for one second, did I conflict that
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: I was done.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: No, I mean you, that's that's how you hit me.
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: I was like, oh fuck. Did you get to hear
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: him at the court? He goes, dude, that was a
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: good body shot. I was like, yeah, that was who
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: does that? Who's this down? Is like, dudee. The look
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: on his face wasn't like like eyebrows, like a like
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: a frame cabin.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: Well, even after you were talking about how skilled he was,
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: you were.
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: Talking about I mean I could go I could go
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: so many different ways with how I reacted in this fight.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: I just wanted to be known how disrespectful he would
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: have been if you beat me if you put me
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: to sleep. If his I mean, can you imagine how
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: shitty he would have been? And I mean it would
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: have it would have if it was, and the world,
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: the world would have been fucking I was fighting for
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: so much crazy, I was fighting for so much that night.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: You know, I'm never gonna let people, for one all
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: special what I've done is and it would have taken
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: all of it away with the loss, and I wasn't
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: gonna let that happen.
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: How about the people call it h his loaded gloves?
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: Do you see the picture that there's like rocks in
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: his head? So what aiment? Have they not watched any
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: of his fights?
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: People saying I'm juiced? What a compliment? People saying I
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: got bricks in my fucking gloves? What a compliment?
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: People are You can't read the Internet. There's always gonna
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: be so insane something.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: I know by gaining you go. I got here because
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: I was petty. I read comments. I read comments.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: They fuel you. They do they do.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: I've talked to him. I told him not to do
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: it because I'm like, bro, this fucks with so many people.
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: We had the conversation outside. It'll cause your mind to
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: go crazy. And he's like, I love it so much.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: David Goggins takes haters and he records them on a
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: loop and then plays it to himself while he runs, Yeah.
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: I mean that's crazy.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: I don't I don't need to have it that. I
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: don't need have it on video. I know, right, I
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: know what they're saying. I knew what they were saying
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: every fucking day, right, And that's you know partly why one.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Well, it's you know that Teddy Roosevelt quote about the
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: man the arena, you know, yep, that's what it is.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: It's like there's always gonna be people on the sidelines.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: They're talking.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: It's impossible to especially at the levels that you're fighting
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: because the ambusinesses you are.
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: You can never make everybody happy.
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: No, that's why it's not going to be a champion. Sucks.
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: The pressure.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: It really is detrimental to like overall, like what you're
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: trying to achieve, and it's just it's so hard.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Well, you can't make everybody happy because some people are
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: just not happy. Period. It's only you being awesome. Gona
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: want them to happen. Yeah, but some people are not
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: they're not healthy, they're not mentally healthy. Their brain isn't right.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: They they haven't done the right things in their life,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: and they see success as being somehow or another. It
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: steals their own personal joy. Other people's success is bad
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: because they compare themselves to other people. And I realized
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: that they So.
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: I love seeing things happen, good things happen for people,
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: like because when Max knocked me out, I was like,
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: good for him, Like, IM fucking imagine what he's feeling
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: right now.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Yeah, But because you have given everything you have, You've
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: truly maximized your potential, You've made mistakes, you've made great decisions,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: and ultimately you wound up winning the biggest fight of
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: all time. Now to exceed, but that's that's why you
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: could be happy for other people.
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: To exceed your expectations. From twenty seventeen, to exceed his
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: expectations from twenty eleven, to exceed my own expectations is
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: I mean, I cannot describe how special and how good
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: that makes me feel, you know, in general, like that
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: was my goal.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: To you didn't exceed the man you you. I always
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: had a feeling that you're going to do some wild
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: ship and after the Tony Fergus you.
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: Couldn't have said I was going to do this.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: There was a lot of conversations that I had with
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: people that were counting you out those I don't think
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: I think and win this fight. I mean, I said
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: it on the podcast. I even said it to Ilia
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: like Ilio was saying it.
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: I've seen that podcast and he was so wrong so
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: many times, you know, not just the whole He has
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: zero chance against Patty. He said something about how I
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: probably sleep during the day more than I do at
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: night because I party too much. And it's like, you
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: were so you don't remember him saying that. He said
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: he says something about weed, and you're like, I don't
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: care about weed, but for him to think that that's true,
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: it's fucking insane.
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: And you have five looses, he's got one lucid he's
- 1:21:36Speaker 3: gonna have.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: I was like wow. I was like wow, what a
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: fucking idiot, you know, like to think that I got
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: here by just being a guy that drinks and you know,
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: has fun all the time. Like that's fucking crazy. My
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: life is so boring. I don't go to bars. I mean,
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: I don't do any of that. I sleep. I sleep
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: eight to ten hours every single night, I was sleeping ten,
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: but it's too much and now I have to sleep eight.
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: But for this whole week, I was sleeping twelve hours
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: every single night of the the fight week.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: That's nice.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: It was so fucking nice.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: That is nice.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: You know, It's just one of those things. If he
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: wanted to watch your you have a YouTube channel, you
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: could watch well.
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: I mean, he was also something to be said about
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: how I knew he was watching. If you go back
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: to my other like we always show sparring, will always
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: show me he emits. I didn't show myself hitting mits
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: one time this camp. I didn't show myself sparring one
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: time in this camp.
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: Purposely because we were switching up the game plan big time.
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: He had no he had he had expectations, but they
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: none of them were based in reality, and I controlled that.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and then you know when I did make the
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: when I did make the comment about his wife. You know,
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: it was in a in an interview like this where
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: we're just fucking around, and I said it in jest.
- 1:22:56Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it was one hundred percent true. I was like,
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: he's so fucking annoying. I couldn't imagine being in the
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: same room with him, you know, with his pompous attitude,
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: you know, and you just trying to like hang out
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: with the guy, but he's like constantly stealing all the
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: thunder and it's irrational, and it's like I would leave
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: him too, Like I mean, if that's my part, Like
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: that's why I broke out with my girlfriends, because they
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: were somewhat like that. I mean, And so I didn't
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: mean it in a mean way, like I would never
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: dig at somebody and I would never make fun of
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: someone's personal experience. But that was like honest, that was
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: just my honest take, and I was joking, but but
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: it was true. I said so many two things to him.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: I said the so many. I told him that he's
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: gonna go to the second round, go to the third rounder.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: You're gonna be fucked because you're not gonna be able
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: to pull yourself out of this.
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: You know, with the way that you're thinking.
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: There's no possible way you can have these expectations, face
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: adversity and then come out in a positive way.
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: There's no way it can happen.
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: You're good, you could dig deep, and.
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: You could be even more of a narcis assist than
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: it might work. But you you know you're gonna you're
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: gonna walk.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: Yourself into a situation that is gonna fucking be detrimental
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: to you. And this is detrimental to his psyche. And
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: this is ninety. So again, I want to see him.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: I will see how he adjusts to the loss.
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: But you don't see how I want to see it
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: will be with himself.
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: The strategy has to change you. You can't just hit
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: the gas like that. And we've seen that with boxers.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: We've seen that with all kinds of fighters. They just
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: think they can just hit the gas. Well, obviously you
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: had to make your own adjustments.
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: You know how he overcame the Max fight. How he
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: adjusted Becky, You guys, did you play golf every day
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: every year?
- 1:24:50Speaker 4: It's six months straight?
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: Wow, every day, dude, this guy got really good. Yeah.
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: DC was braving about it. He's like, I never seen
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: anything like it.
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: He goes.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: This guy's play and golf like he has been playing for years.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: It's crazy, it's really good, really funny. It's well, you know,
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: that's the mindset that's coachable. That's a coachable mindset, competitive
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: and also objective. You know, it's the same reason why
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: you think you're not athletic. It's like you can look
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: at yourself in a critical way and then see what
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: adjustments you have to make. Where a lot of people
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: are delusional, and that delusional keeps you from getting good
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: at it.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: What you perceive, dude, you got perspective is everything, like
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: how are you seeing things? And you always got to
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: see it from the internal that's peaks and valleys like
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: this right here, Like we come home and even through
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: the airport, were like, there's no celebration. I can see
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: it is what it is afterwards, Like.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Celebration at the airport.
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: What we did. Someone was buying us drinks. Like we
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: got there, we got there a little bit early. Should
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: have been a fucking parade.
- 1:25:49Speaker 4: I know, but I don't want that.
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: I know. I know you don't.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: I don't want you don't, but I have to do
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: it because I do need to take advantage.
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: Like I am the champion.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: It's crazy, okay't fathom it, but I am the champion
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: and I need to I need to be the champion
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: and be the enjoy being the champion for a little bit.
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: And you need to look at yourself in the mirror
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: and be like, there's times to sit back and have
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: blits where you're like, man, I freaking did it. Like
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: there's times that really I thought.
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: That would come back.
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: I mean, you run down fucking yelling out different brands
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: of mayonnaise, clothes and make bad decisions. You're like, well
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: is that from ship? Dude, we did fucking three fifths
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: of fucking vodka?
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: Are you going to continue fighting right now?
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: I'm planning on it because you were doing I don't know. Again,
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: there's not there's not something natural in me that feels
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: like it's over m So that's all I can say.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: Also, after a performance like that, yeah, I mean I'm
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: obviously also capitalized because the financial financial Yeah.
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: But I'm in a I'm in a place where it's
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: like I deserve to be compensated for what I have done,
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: not for what I'm going to do, or I don't.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: I shouldn't have to fight next to be UFC three hundred,
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: UFC three twenty four, and now this. Those are the
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: biggest stages that the UFC needed somebody to to do
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: something phenomenal, and they picked me every single time, and
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: and I delivered. I wasn't the main event of UFC
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: three hundred, but Comaine Events still stole the show even
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: though I lost, And so I think I need to
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: be compensated for what I've done. That's where I'm.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: For like a next fight, like yeah, reading the book.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: No no, no, no no, I'm not talking about for
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: the next fight. I'm talking about the UFC should make
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: a company and give me equity in that company, and
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: you know, so I can build passive income like that.
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: Like I'm not saying that's what.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Have you talked to? No?
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: No, I would, I would. I've never asked. Luckily, I
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: have a personal assistant now, so she asks for things
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: for me. But I've never been the guy that asked
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: for things. I wish. I wish people that were opposing
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: me to ask for things and get all kinds of things.
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: I wish I was giving those things without asking because
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: obviously people know that it's appreciated and I like it.
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: But I'm not ever gonna like, I'm not taking this
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: truck from fucking Armon. There's absolutely no way I would
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: take a truck.
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: He never shook my hand.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Oh this is arm Saruk. We should explain that. So
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: armed Saruki and he he bet a million dollars on
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: justin his friend and one he won like five three
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: I believe seven. Yeah, yeah, seven, gonna buy me a truck?
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: But I mean I would cut a truck.
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: Well, now I just saw yours.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: Get a raptor.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: I have a I have a Shelby Raptor. But I
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: think now that I've seen your truck, that will be
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: my next truck.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Also, it has USA on the side.
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you see wrap that you didn't do that rap?
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: That is sweet ship.
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: I want that truck.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: You need that truck. Yeah, tell armand buy you that
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: fucking truck.
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: No, I'm not taking the truck, but the fun.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: If I was armed and I would force it down
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: your throat, I would. I would deliver into your house
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: and give you you wont him five million?
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: Seven around in a fucking truck. That a dude ball
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: for me every day.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: I don't know truck that we didn't shake on it.
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck. Take that guy down truck. Yeah,
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: take the truck, dude. It's first of all, it's cool,
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: and he might also be an next opponent. I mean
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: that's possible. That's the guy.
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean he's the guy.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: That's the guy. I mean, if there's anybody else in
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: the division, that is the guy. I mean, now that
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: Islam is up at one seventy, who else is there
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: that's the guy?
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: I agree?
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: Yeah? And what a division? I mean Holy Ship And
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: now Charles is saying he wants doing that be a division?
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Is being a f and the lightweight title on the line,
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: that would be crazy. So there's fights available, Yes, there
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: is big big What do you what are your thoughts
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: like when you're thinking about competing? Who do you think
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: it will be? You think it will be Arman?
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: No, I can't say. Did I have a name?
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: Do you think Elie's going to try for a rematch?
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: No, he doesn't get a rematch. He can try, but
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: he doesn't get one. Wow, he quit on the stool.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: He quit twice. I stopped him twice. What else do
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: I have to do? Plus, his next challenge can't be me.
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: He needs to fight Patty or someone like that is.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Does Patty have a fight scheduled?
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: I think yeah?
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Then was a tough game. It's a fucking crazy game.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: But it's a crazy game. It's the craziest game. I
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: mean by far. Think about where you were when you
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: lost to Max and then where you are now, just
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: like think of the highs.
- 1:30:38Speaker 2: Wasn't that long ago?
- 1:30:39Speaker 4: Either?
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: Was not that long ago?
- 1:30:41Speaker 3: Now you got the the BMF champ wanting to fight you.
- 1:30:45Speaker 6: I have every belt, Like I have three three belts,
- 1:30:48Speaker 6: three real belts, two introms, but those are fucking real belts,
- 1:30:53Speaker 6: a real belt, the BMF belt, and then the UFC
- 1:30:56Speaker 6: two fifty belt.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Yeah, the UFC two fifty belts. Cool, it's only two.
- 1:31:00Speaker 3: It's so heavy.
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: It's being a fan of this sport, Like, what do
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: you want to come in here and do things that
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: are not easily attainable? And I've done a few things
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: that are impossible to obtain attain nine bonuses my first
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: seven fights, sixteen fights in the UFC, I probably what
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: like twelve main.
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: Events, Yeah, main events, And to be.
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: Put in the main event of a UFC fight is
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: fucking huge. Like you know, you go on the poster.
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: Not many people get to experience that, and I've done
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: it almost every single time, and so I mean, yeah,
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: I mean it's I've done something unattainable. It's got to
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: feel good. It feels great.
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: It feels.
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: As a as a fan, it feels.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: Good right as a fan of yourself, of the sport,
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: as a fan of the sport, getting to see what
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: you've done. Yeah, what do you think about Cerel? Gone?
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: We didn't do it.
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: So we're in the locker room like, oh, you guys
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: are going to go to a different staging room as
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: soon as Bruce Buffer starts announcing. So they took us
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: into a room with no screens. That's probably where the
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: video of me shadow boxing with the flag. Yeah, we
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: were in there for like thirty minutes before I walked,
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: and we could hear, you know.
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: A little bit.
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: You hear that. I heard the ding of the you know,
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: the end of the round the horn. I was like, okay,
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: was that round one? Yes?
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: And then you hear nothing.
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: And then I didn't even hear the finish, Like I
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: didn't hear the crowd roared the crowd, and then I
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: heard and still yep, right yep, because he was.
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: Her name is still we were gone. We heard gone, Yeah,
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: they're gone.
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: I was like, oh fucking one.
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: And then that guy moves like a cat.
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: That's it's crazy. He for a heavyweight. I love watching heavyweights.
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: I can move like they remember the Mike Tyson era.
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: Just watching I was I love my watching Mike Tyson
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: and just watching all the guys he fought. Heavyweight boxing
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: was so good at that time people used to jump rope.
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: Now it's like like, I'm not going to say that
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: that all heavyweights are lazy, but you know, my knees
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: are bad. I'm a big person. Like those guys can move,
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: and Cereal Gun is one of those guys.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: Well, he's the most so fast, and think about him
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: as he started out as a basketball player, So think
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: about basketball. It's all these pliometrics. You're constantly changing direction
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: and moving and jumping.
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: Agility, Yes, it's all agility.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: And that translates so brilliantly to his striking style because
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: you've got a guy who's two hundred and forty eight
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: pounds who moves like a middleweight or moves like even
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: lighter than that. I mean it really moves like a
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: welterweight almost. He's fast and just very agile. And when
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: you notice it is like, because you know how good
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: Peira is and Parra getting lit up on his feet
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: like that and then drop with a jab, It's like.
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: Whoa, yeah, perfect time. And it's heavyweights like those are
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: big dudes. Yeah, like, obviously Peyer's put on some weight,
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: but it's frame size. Yeah, it said, you know, and
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: Prayer's got a big frame.
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: But it's there's levels here.
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: Your body's been that weight for a long period of time.
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: Like it's again that consistency. It's a it's it's MMA
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: guy going into boxing. Yeah, yeah, there's shorter rounds, but
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: you're hitting sprints every round. Fact, it's a different like
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: there's there's you have to do it for a period
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: of time to be able to adjust to that. That's
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: a different. It's everything that you do. You have to
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: slowly go into those positions. You can't just jump into it.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: And when you think about how big he was at
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: two o five, it maybe would have even been better
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: for him to not really put on much weight.
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: I agree.
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: It's kind of like Cyril Gon's a grappler and you
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: gotta be fast. Yeah, you gotta be Like your speed's
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: a factor, it's a giant factor. And he's got insane power.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: I mean, his power has always been heavy.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: To carry that power, absolutely, he's not gonna lose it
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: because he.
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: Was so big. He was two fifty one and I
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: was thinking, man, now, it's like even though you have
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: more power. You're also moving around with extra weight on
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: your body, like you're you're weighed down more by gravity.
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: I mean, Gone looked so light and so loose. He's
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: just like that style for a heavyweight, light on the
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: toes like that is so unusual and not allowing Paradis
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: set his feet. No, never, that's very smart. And even
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: like feigning takedowns. It's not like he committed to those,
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: but he's got them. Think about we're going to drop
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: him with the into it. Now, here's the question because
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: one of the things that Perreira is saying is a
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: lot of there's an illegal shot. A lot of the
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: shots were illegal into the back of the head, but
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: a lot of them were too in.
- 1:35:21Speaker 3: The first one when they yeah.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a two inch line down like a mohawks
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: this whole.
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: But it's like, this is legal.
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: This is legal, Yeah, this is legal.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: This is illegal legal, illegal, I mean, and.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: A couple of those shots definitely landed illegally, but there's a.
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: Don't him drop his head.
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: Down to the exactly so you're moving, that's legal. That's there.
- 1:35:50Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a couple of illegal ones, three or four, right,
- 1:35:54Speaker 3: But it's also movement and chaos.
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: It's not like he's deliberately it's like get someone the
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: iron purpose.
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: Like if I was that good, I would touch their chance.
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: Right. How was the fight stopped there on the ground?
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: No? No, kept going this is this is actually the
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: finish of the fight. That they caught him with a
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: big elbow right here and rocked him. I mean, Perera
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: was in real trouble. I mean it was he got
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: fucked up and Cyril Gon did a fantastic job. He
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: really put it on him.
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: Should you ever stop a championship fight?
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: Fet that was it? Right there? Would have at that point.
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: I looked like, yeah, I'm not saying it wasn't.
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: I haven't watched a fight.
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: Here.
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: Here's the stoppage right here.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: You can see I haven't either, and I'm just watching this. Yeah,
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: that's it was.
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: A cumulative It was so many blows. Maybe he could
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: have taken one or two more after that, for sure.
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: But Pereira is pissed off at Herb Dean and he's
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: saying Herb Dean should never referee again because he allowed
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: those shots in the back of the head.
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: I mean, you're in the moment, I mean, but that's
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: natural for a fighter to do, like, well, if a
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: situation you want to first off to bring awareness to it,
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: so they're not you know there, you have to always
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: be aware of hey, I could have did better here,
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: because that's how we all grow. So we need to
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: do need to talk about it. But from what I
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: just watched there and I haven't watched the whole fight,
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: was the fight competitive at all? Yes, okay, the first
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: round was very so that would change a little thing.
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: But from what I just watched right there at the end,
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: that was that look finish.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: The refs have such a tough job. I've been I'm
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: notorious for being really hard on these refs because I mean,
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: it's they you expect them to be, You need them
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: to be perfect. Their their main job is to protect you.
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: When I found Michael Chandler, I'm still and again I
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: only speak about it now because I've never had a
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: retraction from the referee. Whenever he poked me in the
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: eye and then he didn't get in between us, and
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: he let him hit me with a huge shot, and
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: then he doesn't give me my time to rest, not
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: rest to recover, and there was only five seconds left
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: in the round, so it turned out that I got
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: to break anyways. But he goes in there he says,
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: are you good? I said no, I'm not good. He
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: just poked me in the fucking eye and he says, okay,
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: well are you good? And so then it's like, can
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: I still fight? So that I said, yeah, I'm good,
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: and he said, okay.
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: Go who what referee was this?
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: The guy with the braid that he puts in his
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: Mike BELTRMP.
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: Mike bel Trump And so I was very upset that
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: he let Michael Chandler land that shot. And I know
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: why he was so scared of the fucking heat we
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: were throwing that he didn't want to jump in there
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: and get in the middle of it. But his job
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: is to protect me and he failed. He felt so
- 1:38:39Speaker 2: bad right there, and so like after the fact that
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: I was like, I need you to acknowledge this so
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: that you do not ever let that happen to another
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: athlete in there, because you fucked up so bad. And
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: you know, he's trying to justify it, and it's like,
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: what the fuck are you doing? How can you justify this?
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: And so that for me, that that that pisces me off.
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: And then the decision not to give me my time,
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: like I need an explanation, you know, and because I
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: need to know that you are going to learn from
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: this experience. And for right now, I still believe that
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: he doesn't think he did anything wrong, and so I'm
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: still upset about that.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: Well, once you say, petty, you know what you should
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: be in that situation. Because if you say to someone
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: you got poked in the eye, are you good, and
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: you're like, yeah, I'm good, but I got poked in
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: the fucking eye, and then you're supposed to say two seconds,
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: one or.
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: Two seconds, but are you good? I said, well yeah,
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: he says, Okay.
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: Are you good? Is not the right question. You have
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: five minutes? Are you ready to fight? Can you see?
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: Do you need to bring in a doctor. There's a
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: series of questions, but the you have five minutes it's
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: very important for a fighter getting poked in the eye,
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: you have five minutes to recover it.
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: I didn't feel like I didn't know. I didn't know
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: what the point.
- 1:39:52Speaker 4: I feel pressure in my face right now, like I
- 1:39:55Speaker 4: don't just feel.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: You're not gonna know for a couple of seconds, You're
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: gonna you're gonna blink a little bit, move around a
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: little bit. All right, I'm good, And that's when you're
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: it's supposed to be very clear, that's when you're ready
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: to re engage.
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: And that's what I'm saying. That's the mistake he has
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: to learn from because it was such a And after
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: the round ends, I walk home to him like, dude,
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: get your fucking head of your ass. What the fuck
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: are you doing. He's liked, go to your stool. He's like, no,
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: what the fuck are you doing? Like your job is
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: to protect me. You just let me get hit with
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: a huge fucking shot.
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: What is going on?
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: And he's like, go to your stool. Go to your stool,
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: and I sit down and then boom. Never thought about
- 1:40:28Speaker 2: it again. But still pissed off about that one.
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: You should be, I mean, that's that makes sense.
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: And.
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: Who's the ref that against Kobib. After the fight, he
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: corners me in the hallway and he's like, you know,
- 1:40:44Speaker 2: I know you, I know you would never never tap.
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: I was like, I tapped three times. He's like, no,
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: you would never tap.
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: I'm like I'm like, dude, if from the horse's mouth,
- 1:40:55Speaker 2: I'm telling you I tapped. And he still was like, nah, no,
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: you wouldn't. I was like, what the fuck, how can
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: we get through this?
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: Three times? And went to sleep. I've seen that. Yeah,
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: I tapped three times. You tapped one hundred percent?
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: And he's like, no, you would you know, I know
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: that you with your the way that you compete. Who's
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: the reference? I hate to I dontly want to throw her.
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: I only want to throw him on the bus, you know,
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: because it's like his his intentions were good for me,
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: you know, he believed I was.
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: He gave me a chance.
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: He gave me a chance. But like I fucking tapped, man,
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: like I did, and I went to sleep because of it.
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: And luckily there's no detrimental and chronic you know, long
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: lasting problems because of getting choked out. So I'm not
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: there's no repercussions. Yeah, there's no concussion, there's no TBI. Like,
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: it really is not detrimental at all, as long as
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: you don't hold it too long and I die, as
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: long as I wake up, I'm good. And so I
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: was like, okay, like the repercussions aren't as severe and
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: so like whatever, I'll just let this go. But ultimately
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: he did it. I mean I was even when I
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: told him.
- 1:42:03Speaker 4: He didn't believe me.
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: That was the first thing you said when you jumped up.
- 1:42:05Speaker 3: You went over to him, and then you guys had
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: the conversation afterwards. But you went over to him saying, dude,
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: what the fuck I tapped? He's like, did we see
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: him later?
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: But that was he didn't.
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: I was like, dude, I tapped three times. I tapped
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: three fucking times.
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty obvious.
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: Like you said, you know you're some kind of fucking
- 1:42:24Speaker 2: you think you're some kind of superman. Why would you tap?
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: It's like when your life is ending, you know, you're
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: a fool if you don't understand that.
- 1:42:32Speaker 4: Like I knew I was dying, and that's just where
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: I was, So.
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: That's not crazy. You are to everybody, he's in their
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: eyes are like, dude, I know you better? You do?
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: You never tap like that?
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: That's what I mean. People think the best That's how
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: he The best thing up to this moment is people
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: people don't give me credit for my intellectual abilities. And
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: I've also played into that, and I've also understood how
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: big of an asset is for people to approach me
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: like that, you know, thinking that I'm just some animal
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: that doesn't think or feel or whatever whatever people think
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: or I think I'm retarded.
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: Well, I think what it is is when you are
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: such an animal, people think you can't be smart because
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: the smart person would be aware of the consequences and
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: wouldn't have the courage to fight the way you fight.
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: That's all it is. And they and people who don't
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: have that kind of courage, they like to dismiss people
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: that fight like savages because they got a well, savages
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: can't be smart. That's not right, that's not correct. People.
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: It's like you see a really hot woman, you gosh,
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: you gotta be a retard. Yeah, Like, no, some of
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: them are really fucking smart and also hot. You know.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: The world is confusing, Yeah, and you can't categorize people
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: and put them into things little, you know, little fucking
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: boxes just to make you feel better. Yeah, that's all
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: it is, you know. And you're And the thing is,
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: I never signed up.
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: Like when we were walking out to the press conference,
- 1:43:57Speaker 2: there's like twelve fifteen thousand people all do I look
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: at the guy who was like, dude, I never ever
- 1:44:02Speaker 2: signed up to be a public speaker. What the fuck
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: are we doing here? Like I never wanted to be
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: in this where I talk in front of this many people, like,
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: that's not what I prepared myself forever, and now I'm
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: in this situation where I have to You know, every
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: single word I get I say before these fights is
- 1:44:18Speaker 2: analyzed by the world, like the whole you know, my
- 1:44:21Speaker 2: father is my dad? Like sometimes I get tongue tied,
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: sometimes I miss, I do living know what I mean?
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: But nobody if people understand, if they had to listen
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: to themselves, they would understand that they also make mistakes,
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: and so it's like, fuck, man, like I can't be perfect.
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I really I didn't mean my dad was
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: my father, even though you know it fucking makes sense.
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: And it's true. Listen, you're dealing with a bunch of
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: people that have to write a story.
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: I have to it's.
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: Writing a story because something is interesting. They have to
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: make a story no matter what it is. There their
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: job is to create content. And when you your job
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: is to create content, you make content out of nothing
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: and it's not usually it's usually not good. And that's
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: what they're doing. Good deals.
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: If I could have been mentally coached, it would have
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: been in that aspect public speaking, just like I think
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: you speak very well. No, no, it's like, uh, I
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: just I guess there's no lesson to learn, like, you
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: just have to do it.
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: It's to experience. It's like fighting. You just do it
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: a bunch of times and you get comfortable with it.
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: Or you're naturally talented like Connor, you know what that guy,
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: smart guy. Yeah, he's greatd that like, he's fantastic at
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: that ship. I mean, that's where he shines.
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: You ain't lying. You are like Tom Petty, Tom Petty
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: the Hartburgers. You are petty who cares what people think? Right?
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: I like, you know, I like to see what people
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: are saying about my our interview and the you know,
- 1:45:51Speaker 2: because I want to see the perception. I want to
- 1:45:54Speaker 2: just keep itspy.
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: But the thing is you're asking for the perceptions from
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: people that you would probably never fucking talk to in
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: real life because they're dumb and annoying. You know, of
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: the people that are most likely gonna comment, the people
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: that are most like gonna you think Michael Jordan's out
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: there leaving YouTube comments. No, right, it's not people that
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: have their fucking shit together and have big goals. People
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: who are really dialed in and really fucking disciplined. And
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: the people whose opinions you'd respect, they're not leaving comments.
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: They're certainly not even shitty comments.
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: You nailed that. That's just the reality.
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: And I'm not hating on these people. I'm just saying,
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: like I would have been one of them, if you
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: if somebody give me a fucking YouTube account when I
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: was seventeen, I'd be posting the most horrible shit about everybody, right,
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: everybody would. You're a kid, you're or you're a dumb ass,
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: you don't have your life together yet. But that's the type.
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: You can't listen to them and take that as gospel
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: because it's.
- 1:46:45Speaker 3: Just not just seeing him walk through the airport, and
- 1:46:47Speaker 3: just everybody's perception when they see you and meet you
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: is so great, dude. Like it's like people they're like, like, bro.
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: The haters you if the haters met you.
- 1:46:59Speaker 3: Yeah, but still but it's but one of those things
- 1:47:01Speaker 3: is like the inspiration on people, Like everybody comes up
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: and they're you're a favorite fighter, Like I have the
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: brand that you're the the your favorite fighter, favorite fighter,
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: Like that is unique. Yeah, that is like such a
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: cool thing. Like you just keep inspiring and very proud
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: of be you. You should be should be so proud
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: you should be. Yeah, so I asked you after.
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: The fight if you're going to fight again. You said,
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: you promise your mom you weren't going to make a decision,
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: and so it just settled in. I mean where today
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: we're here, it's Friday. The fight was just Sunday, so
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: it was five days ago. So now you're just like,
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: fuck you, how do you not after that? I mean,
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: you're the fucking champ. It would be great to go
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: out like that. It'd be an amazing cap but also
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: great to at least one more.
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll see people like to watch chaos. It's the
- 1:47:51Speaker 3: highest level control.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: You know, it'll never be that chaos again because it'll
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: never be like it's hard.
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: To understand pier Jen fly over to understand how dangerous this.
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: Game is if you don't do it right, and so
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: is impossible. Yeah, yeah, so that'll be a huge that's
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: a huge fact. There's a lot of there's a lot
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: of variables that I have to contemplate when it comes
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: to that decision.
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: Do you have a timeline in your head?
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: I do know, so you can't remember a time I
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: fought two times in six months. In the UFC, I
- 1:48:25Speaker 2: fought two times this year already in less than six months,
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: and so I'm going to take the rest of the year.
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: I need my body to heal it. I mean, I
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: have what's the fucking diagnosis? I have a severe bone
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: endema in the tip of my fibula that happened on
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: Christmas and I have been dealing with that since Christmas Day.
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: So bone bleed like.
- 1:48:51Speaker 2: A bruised bruise. Yeah, it's in the bone marrow of
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: the tip of my fibula. Tip of my tibula clacked
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: against my femur and it caused a huge, a deep,
- 1:49:00Speaker 2: deep bruise. And I cannot get at the hill because
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: I went you know, I was going through training camp.
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: It really hurt after the Patty fight.
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: When are you leaving? When are you leaving today?
- 1:49:10Speaker 4: Will you fly out of like six thirty?
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: It's three o'clock. I want to them to see if
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: I can get you in to Waste Well, let me
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: text break them and see if they can jab some
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: fucking stem cells in there before you I've got.
- 1:49:21Speaker 4: I've gone to vegas.
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: I've got stem cells multiple times.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: Waste PRP Special Place.
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: PRP put me on crutches. It was crazy. And then
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: I did a corizone shot on the Friday before I left. Wow,
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: and that that helped a lot.
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: Well, not training is really what it needs, right And
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: have you been doing any hyperbaric chamber stuff? No, that's huge.
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: I got like, you have no idea how against my
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: process you guys would be. I mean I think I
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: got two. I probably had two massages this camp. That's amazing.
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: Well, it's really funny if you look at the difference.
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: I mean Iliot Tapooria as a YouTube channel as well,
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: where it's fantastic really goes into debt. But they're using
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: like all this high tech neurostimulation head gear and he's
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: doing all these different things and it's all you.
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: See the video, it's guy him doing that and then
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: me taking a four to twenty deth.
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:50:21Speaker 3: Did you see our video where he had the dog
- 1:50:24Speaker 3: choker on his forehead every time he got straight with
- 1:50:27Speaker 3: his legs and got flat, I had bet his legs again.
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: No cover three balls at each other, trying to tap
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: into those intuitive abilities with your eyes closed, Like I
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: come from the fucking dirt. You know, my parents fucked up.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: They didn't put a golf club in my hand at
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: four years old. They threw me in the dirt, and you.
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: Know, I became comfortable with the uncomfortable.
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: That's a giant factor.
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: Though.
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: Being comfortable with being uncomfortable was a huge It's such
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: a with everything in life, with everything in.
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: My life, wrestling is definitely, definitely has is the biggest
- 1:51:09Speaker 2: variable when it comes to my success. I mean the
- 1:51:11Speaker 2: mental the mental side of it, like nobody can It's
- 1:51:17Speaker 2: very similar to fighting and the fact that nobody can
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: help you, you know, it is against all the blame
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: is on you. All the success goes to you, and
- 1:51:26Speaker 2: you can never use somebody else's excuse. Any team said
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: I played football, I played baseball, Soccer, swim team swim
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: things a little different. But you know, there's always a
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: justification for why you failed or why you lost when
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: it comes to those and you can always point to
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: somewhere else or at least a piece, even if it's
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: one or two percent somebody else's fault, then then you
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: can justify it.
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: You know, the losses in wrestling, that's never the case.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: Not only that it's a combat sport that's acceptable in
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: high school, like it's a combats or if they'll take
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: in junior high school, you take in high school, and
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: kids learn like, there's guys out there that are different.
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: They're working harder than you, they're more aggressive than you,
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: they want it more than you, they put in more
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: time than you. And that's a lesson that's very valuable,
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: cause kids get delusion about what their abilities are, how
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: special they are, who they are. When you get fucking
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: flatlined by some dude who just fucking picks you up
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: and slams you on your back and pins you, and
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: you're like, and he could do it anytime he wants,
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: And this is the reality of training with this guy,
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: Like over and over and over again, you're like, oh great,
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: he lateral drops you in front of the whole class.
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: Oh great, Like this is this is reality. Now you're
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: either gonna get better or this is gonna keep happening
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: to you over and over and over again. And the
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: mental toughness that comes out of kids that grind it
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: out and wrestling and learn how to wrestle uncomfortable, learn
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: how to cut weight at an early age. All that
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: shit's terrible for you, but the mental aspect of it
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: is fucking undeniable. Think about how many great wrestlers have
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: become great MMA champions. Absolutely, it's the most important thing.
- 1:53:04Speaker 3: Great business people like they I watched a study a
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: long time ago they said that the boxing and wrestling
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: created the best employees because accountability. Yes, you know, and
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: again the cutting the weight like you're responsible, like that's
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: this is what I love about Justin. Is what makes
- 1:53:19Speaker 3: it so nice to train him is high level people
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: Like I've had the luck to be able to train
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: some high level guys lately, and I don't have to
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: deal with any shit like you know, and it's if
- 1:53:30Speaker 3: I hold myself accountable, then there's there. We don't have
- 1:53:32Speaker 3: to have these deep conversations or get your feelings hurt
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: that we're just true to it. His accountability for everything
- 1:53:38Speaker 3: is just there's there's nothing like it. And I credit
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: that to his parents. His parents are just such amazing
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: people and the way that they had raised him to
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: hold you know, because he screwed up a lot as
- 1:53:47Speaker 3: a kid. I told him, if we were hanging out
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: when we were younger, we got a lot of trouble
- 1:53:51Speaker 3: because you remind me of myself super hyper like like
- 1:53:53Speaker 3: making super bad decisions. But getting punished, getting grounded, getting
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: not being able to go out late at night like
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: strict parents, and that being able to understand that there
- 1:54:03Speaker 3: is rules in life and you have to be accountable.
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: If you screw up, you got to deal with the punishment.
- 1:54:07Speaker 3: And that is it comes from your parents.
- 1:54:08Speaker 2: And my parents being such good people. So my mindset,
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: as always since I was a kid, I have looked up.
- 1:54:18Speaker 2: So the reason I take comments online and I read them,
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: I've always looked up and given every single person I've
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: ever interacted with the benefit of the doubt of being
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: good and whether it's what they're saying, what they're doing,
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: their actions, everybody's been in my role model. I've never
- 1:54:39Speaker 2: never looked at myself as a role model. I've always
- 1:54:41Speaker 2: looked at whether no matter what, I even strangers like
- 1:54:45Speaker 2: I trust that they're gonna that they're good. And that's
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: where I start my That's where I start everywhere from.
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: And so reading comments online, like I I truly take
- 1:54:58Speaker 2: into account what what I'm reading, you know, and I
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: don't know why because I know it doesn't matter a
- 1:55:03Speaker 2: lot of the times, a lot of these probably fucking
- 1:55:06Speaker 2: thirteen fourteen year old kids. But I in my mind
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: they are fifty year old, you know, men with experience,
- 1:55:11Speaker 2: And I just try to use as much and as
- 1:55:14Speaker 2: much of the readily available information, comments, words, action as
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: I can from a place of like I feel like
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: a child in a sense when it comes to like
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: interacting with people. And I don't know, I don't know
- 1:55:29Speaker 2: why that's how I take it or that's how I
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: do it, but it makes everything, you know, a little
- 1:55:33Speaker 2: bit better. And I'm not as disappointed as much because like,
- 1:55:37Speaker 2: once I learn that they're not that, but they're not
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: good and they can't help me, then I don't be like, oh,
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: that's a bad person. I'm just like, okay, I'm not
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: gonna have that experience again. Well that's a good perspective.
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: It sounds like you use it then, and that's listen.
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: Everyone's different. And if you can handle it and you
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: don't get mentally ill from reading comments, that's a rare
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: you're a rare person.
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: We had many conversations.
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: That's what I went to school for.
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: Human server.
- 1:56:04Speaker 2: I love to help people. You have no idea how
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: much joy it brings me to assist people, to make
- 1:56:10Speaker 2: people's life better, to live someone's spirit. I mean those
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: that is what makes me feel alive, and that comes
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: through my faith and through my parents. You know, my
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: parents are such good people. They deserve so much more
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: than most parents because of their actions and their example
- 1:56:28Speaker 2: that they show for me. And yeah, I'm just so
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: grateful to be the person that I am, because you know,
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: it makes life easier. Life is easy. Life is so
- 1:56:39Speaker 2: easy when you're not concerned about what people think, when
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: you're not worried about things that you can't control.
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: What's also easy if you're a good person.
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: Waybod, I couldn't be a good person without the example
- 1:56:50Speaker 2: of my parents. You have no idea how good and
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: naive my parents are. And when I say naive, it's
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: in such a good way because they haven't done the
- 1:57:01Speaker 2: bad things that most of us have done.
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: And I and I failed him. And the last time.
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: I ever did drugs, I woke up in an ambulance
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: and I'm pretty sure I died. And I was like,
- 1:57:14Speaker 2: I will never fucking do that again. My parents do
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: not deserve that. And that was probably twenty sixteen. Wow,
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: And I was like, I will never touch that again ever.
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: My parents do not deserve that. And that was That's
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: why I'm here.
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: Good for you, dude, that's awesome, and it's great that
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: you have such an awesome relationship with your parents. And
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: it really does seem like that attitude that you have
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: is very freeing in a lot of ways.
- 1:57:40Speaker 2: It is, it really is Youah, golf.
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: Weed, Trevor, Let's talk about those gloves. What the fuck
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: do we have to do to get your gloves into
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: the UFC. It doesn't make any sense that we're using
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: inferior gloves.
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: I want, obviously, I want to talk about this. But
- 1:57:58Speaker 2: the gloves I fought in this week were different. They
- 1:58:01Speaker 2: are they felt there. It was a different There was
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: the same same glove, the leather was different. It was
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: a little bit thicker, I think, and so it was softer.
- 1:58:12Speaker 2: And so every time I've ever thought I've had the
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: most excruciating pain in between my hands right here, and
- 1:58:17Speaker 2: I didn't feel that at all.
- 1:58:18Speaker 3: This fight thicker. So it's like if you have like
- 1:58:22Speaker 3: a thinner material going through, it's going to cut through
- 1:58:24Speaker 3: this a little easier.
- 1:58:25Speaker 2: So tighter material. This was looser because it was thicker.
- 1:58:29Speaker 2: It was weird.
- 1:58:31Speaker 3: So it was better better, better for that feeling, that
- 1:58:34Speaker 3: better for comfortability.
- 1:58:35Speaker 2: Yeah, like you have no idea how uncomfortable.
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: We are when we were always like pulling on the
- 1:58:39Speaker 3: glove to pull the back. It's not getting a hand
- 1:58:41Speaker 3: wrapped too tight, and you get those little things between.
- 1:58:43Speaker 2: Pulling on the tongue.
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: Here it is harder.
- 1:58:48Speaker 4: But this guy's a genius.
- 1:58:49Speaker 2: He can fucking make anything.
- 1:58:51Speaker 3: So Hunter reached out to me three weeks ago, four
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: weeks ago and said he wanted to ignite conversation again.
- 1:58:57Speaker 3: So we'll see where that goes. But uh, you know,
- 1:58:59Speaker 3: from first position that we were in, a lot of
- 1:59:02Speaker 3: things happened, and a great thing. I always told you
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: it was going to be timing. Timing's everything, and they
- 1:59:07Speaker 3: did the right thing and tried to make what we
- 1:59:10Speaker 3: had spoke about. You know, we had MDA and we
- 1:59:13Speaker 3: had a five year and then moved it to a
- 1:59:14Speaker 3: two year. Took a lot of great notes, and I'm
- 1:59:17Speaker 3: very grateful to be a part of those because they
- 1:59:19Speaker 3: did go out there and use a lot of the
- 1:59:20Speaker 3: ideas that I had, but they just couldn't do it
- 1:59:23Speaker 3: to the level that I could do it. And I
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: thought it was super cool that they were trying, because
- 1:59:28Speaker 3: it was a problem that they don't really see and understand.
- 1:59:31Speaker 3: So I think they're in the right mindset, and you know,
- 1:59:34Speaker 3: them helping the athletes, I thought was a great, great
- 1:59:36Speaker 3: thing to do. But during that time when I was
- 1:59:40Speaker 3: going to talk to I actually brought the gloves. And
- 1:59:41Speaker 3: it was when you were fighting on three hundred. We
- 1:59:45Speaker 3: were out there and I had a new patent that
- 1:59:47Speaker 3: I had been working on, so we could go opposite
- 1:59:49Speaker 3: direction if they wan't own it. It's a separate pattern
- 1:59:52Speaker 3: from the patent that I had that goes in all
- 1:59:53Speaker 3: of our products, the internal strapping. This was a new patent,
- 1:59:56Speaker 3: still with internal strapping, but a more dialed in for
- 1:59:59Speaker 3: it fight glove. And then we have those two options.
- 2:00:02Speaker 3: And then when we got there that Allie had told
- 2:00:04Speaker 3: me that they're releasing a new glove and so we have,
- 2:00:08Speaker 3: you know, two versions now, which is super cool, and yeah,
- 2:00:12Speaker 3: I think it'll be great.
- 2:00:13Speaker 4: Here's the conversation, though, what are you trying to fix?
- 2:00:18Speaker 3: I pokes?
- 2:00:19Speaker 2: Okaykes, that is not possible.
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: You don't think it's possible to make less ie pokes.
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: You can make less, you can make less, but you'll
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: never stop.
- 2:00:27Speaker 3: Stop.
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: Well, of course you're not going to stop, because the
- 2:00:29Speaker 1: fingers are Your issue is the athlete.
- 2:00:33Speaker 2: The issue is the comfortability of the athlete and the
- 2:00:36Speaker 2: performance of the athlete. That is where your ambition has
- 2:00:42Speaker 2: to lie when it comes to making the glove better.
- 2:00:45Speaker 2: Because the thing, the gloves we're fighting it now are
- 2:00:49Speaker 2: fucking terrible. You have noid they it's hard to make
- 2:00:52Speaker 2: a fist. You have to use your entire muscle of
- 2:00:55Speaker 2: your arm to make a fist, and so by the
- 2:00:57Speaker 2: time we get to the fight, this is already your
- 2:01:00Speaker 2: forming exhausted, exhausted, and then the pressure in between your
- 2:01:04Speaker 2: fingers is like something you can't replicate.
- 2:01:08Speaker 1: Let me ask you this, do you think it's possible
- 2:01:10Speaker 1: to make something that's like a mitten, something that covers
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: over the tips of the fingers. You would have fucking
- 2:01:16Speaker 1: eighty percent less eyepokes.
- 2:01:18Speaker 3: I do think you could do that in time. I
- 2:01:20Speaker 3: don't think that's that It change is hard for everybody. Joe, Wow,
- 2:01:23Speaker 3: that's a huge change for grapplers and things like that.
- 2:01:26Speaker 3: But you're grappler, So you're a grappler. Most people are
- 2:01:29Speaker 3: going to say, well, that's going to affect this or
- 2:01:32Speaker 3: my certain locker. Try it, But again, it's it's.
- 2:01:36Speaker 1: It is it would enhance it. The problem would be
- 2:01:39Speaker 1: like reird naked chokes, like getting the hand behind that
- 2:01:41Speaker 1: you have more thickness, Like it's regular gloves or a
- 2:01:43Speaker 1: problem already. But is it more of a problem just
- 2:01:46Speaker 1: have the fingers covered with the regular glove. I think
- 2:01:48Speaker 1: it's the same. It might actually it might actually even
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: slip in better. But the thing is, it's like covering
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: the tips with like a mitten, like those old school
- 2:01:57Speaker 1: everlast bag gloves.
- 2:01:58Speaker 2: I just I think it's a different sport now.
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: But why you can still clinch.
- 2:02:01Speaker 3: You can do everything, That's what I'm talking about.
- 2:02:03Speaker 2: You can still This is telling me so much right now,
- 2:02:08Speaker 2: Like and if you take that from me, yeah, right,
- 2:02:11Speaker 2: Like that is a that's a huge factor. And when
- 2:02:13Speaker 2: it comes to intuitive abilities.
- 2:02:15Speaker 1: Okay, like explain that to me, Like what are you
- 2:02:17Speaker 1: feeling with your fingertips that you think would be missing.
- 2:02:20Speaker 2: Well, it's not the fingertips when you it's my hand.
- 2:02:24Speaker 2: Like he moves away, he moves in any direction, like
- 2:02:27Speaker 2: I can make that wreath and now he's father, Now
- 2:02:29Speaker 2: he's there, right, And I think if you're gonna take
- 2:02:32Speaker 2: touch away from us, that would deter our intuitive abilities.
- 2:02:37Speaker 1: I wonder, I wonder how much.
- 2:02:39Speaker 2: But I also think you have to understand where as
- 2:02:43Speaker 2: a fighter. For me, it's like when I am relaxed,
- 2:02:46Speaker 2: when I'm relaxed, and if my hand can be in
- 2:02:48Speaker 2: this position when I'm relaxed, then I'm okay. Then then
- 2:02:52Speaker 2: then there's not gonna be as many ipokes. But when
- 2:02:54Speaker 2: I relax and it goes like this, like and.
- 2:02:58Speaker 1: Now I have to force your hand.
- 2:02:59Speaker 2: Now I have to do this. I'm naturally you're never
- 2:03:02Speaker 2: gonna take the human reaction and instinct a way to
- 2:03:04Speaker 2: protect yourself. And the instinct to protect yourself is no,
- 2:03:09Speaker 2: that is the instinct. It's natural, it's intuitive, and it
- 2:03:13Speaker 2: has to be that because you're trying to get your
- 2:03:15Speaker 2: your chin tucked behind your shoulders so that you don't
- 2:03:19Speaker 2: get hit.
- 2:03:20Speaker 4: But the uncomfortability and like.
- 2:03:23Speaker 2: The strenuous effort it takes to make a fist is
- 2:03:28Speaker 2: fucking stupid, stupid.
- 2:03:29Speaker 1: And this is the difference between your gloves and the
- 2:03:31Speaker 1: current UFC gloves. My gloves.
- 2:03:34Speaker 3: My gloves are one of those things that it promotes
- 2:03:37Speaker 3: a natural hand, natural position, a better grip, a better
- 2:03:41Speaker 3: fist position where I'm not when I squeeze my fist
- 2:03:43Speaker 3: and I have the rap on it doesn't pull my
- 2:03:44Speaker 3: hand up like this. And when you see guys touch gloves,
- 2:03:47Speaker 3: they're usually like this, uh huh, not like this right,
- 2:03:50Speaker 3: and it's lighting the bones up for you know. Again.
- 2:03:53Speaker 3: They they said that the last gloves were causing less knockouts.
- 2:03:55Speaker 3: Our gloves were can cause more knockouts because a better
- 2:03:58Speaker 3: hand position, better grip strength on them. Being able to
- 2:04:00Speaker 3: have holes, like if I'm holding someone's fun for your hands,
- 2:04:04Speaker 3: broken hands and internal strapping like that is a huge thing.
- 2:04:07Speaker 3: Like my goal at a certain point would to have
- 2:04:10Speaker 3: where you can't have hand wraps on, Like if you
- 2:04:12Speaker 3: have a glove that's actually protecting your hand, but you
- 2:04:15Speaker 3: have the gloves on that now it's equal one because
- 2:04:19Speaker 3: if you've got one person, that adds more more padding
- 2:04:21Speaker 3: or less padding, double layer's tape, Like there's many different
- 2:04:25Speaker 3: things that you can do. And that to me, it's
- 2:04:28Speaker 3: like if if I if one fighter has tape wrapping
- 2:04:31Speaker 3: their hands and then the other one has house wrapping
- 2:04:33Speaker 3: the hands, they're wrapping differently, which one's better for breaks,
- 2:04:36Speaker 3: which one's better for punching, Like, so having that that's
- 2:04:40Speaker 3: would be really cool. And that's that's the difference with
- 2:04:42Speaker 3: like like our gloves.
- 2:04:43Speaker 2: I've never broke my hand when he's ever taped my
- 2:04:46Speaker 2: hands like his tape job is. I can't wait to
- 2:04:51Speaker 2: show it off to the commission. Every single time I'm like,
- 2:04:53Speaker 2: look at that. Tell me you've seen a better one
- 2:04:56Speaker 2: than that tonight, And every time you're like, I don't think.
- 2:04:58Speaker 1: So you got gloves? Of course you did, of course
- 2:05:04Speaker 1: you did. They're my favorite by far, and the ladies
- 2:05:07Speaker 1: and gentlemen at home, if you're just listening the difference
- 2:05:10Speaker 1: between Trevor's gloves and everybody else's gloves. One of the
- 2:05:13Speaker 1: big differences is that you could see if you're looking
- 2:05:16Speaker 1: at it on that let's see how the curve folks
- 2:05:18Speaker 1: like the regular gloves from the UFC are not. They're straight,
- 2:05:21Speaker 1: just like this. So these gloves promote a natural punching position. Look,
- 2:05:26Speaker 1: without even putting them on, they're already in that position.
- 2:05:28Speaker 1: And then when you put them on, they're damn near perfect.
- 2:05:31Speaker 1: The padding is amazing, they're fantastic. They hit the bag
- 2:05:34Speaker 1: with they're just fucking awesome. And they and more importantly,
- 2:05:39Speaker 1: look what they promote. My hand is totally dead, relaxed,
- 2:05:42Speaker 1: and it promotes a closed fist position.
- 2:05:46Speaker 3: I was talking about.
- 2:05:47Speaker 1: So this is a he's doing the internal strapping right.
- 2:05:49Speaker 3: Now from over here, So that's going to pull this.
- 2:05:53Speaker 3: As you notice, we got pat aside, so there's no.
- 2:05:55Speaker 1: Like all the other gloves right right right.
- 2:05:58Speaker 3: Coming down on a single knuckle, and this strap is
- 2:06:00Speaker 3: going to oh yeah, this one.
- 2:06:05Speaker 1: Oh so these are better than the last ones you
- 2:06:07Speaker 1: brought here. Oh, this is fucking fantastic.
- 2:06:09Speaker 3: I've been dial in finding the right product.
- 2:06:12Speaker 1: Oh my god, you don't even need hand wraps. Well
- 2:06:14Speaker 1: you told me before that when you hit the bag
- 2:06:16Speaker 1: with his gloves, his bag gloves I haven't used.
- 2:06:18Speaker 2: I haven't grabbed my hands since twenty fifteen.
- 2:06:20Speaker 1: Piper doesn't fight with hand wraps on, which is crazy.
- 2:06:24Speaker 3: And it can get to the point if we have
- 2:06:25Speaker 3: the right protection. It's awesome.
- 2:06:28Speaker 1: This is so superior to the UFC gloves. I mean,
- 2:06:31Speaker 1: the fact that this isn't being used by the UFC
- 2:06:34Speaker 1: right now is fucking co.
- 2:06:35Speaker 3: We're gonna get it done.
- 2:06:36Speaker 1: I hope you don't try it so hard.
- 2:06:38Speaker 3: I stepped away from like the business part. I'm the
- 2:06:41Speaker 3: visionary now, so I got right people that know how
- 2:06:43Speaker 3: to make deals. So good. It's right, and the UFC
- 2:06:45Speaker 3: is going to be happy.
- 2:06:46Speaker 2: We were ready.
- 2:06:47Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, They're like, dude, you know, I don't know
- 2:06:50Speaker 3: that was me vers could be responsibility. Oh I believe
- 2:06:54Speaker 3: it that. I didn't know that you could do deals
- 2:06:56Speaker 3: all these different ways. You know, they'd say what they
- 2:06:58Speaker 3: wanted to do. I was like, yeah, that's not.
- 2:06:59Speaker 1: How feel so good. It's so better. It's just much better.
- 2:07:03Speaker 1: It's like you put it onto the want. Well. This
- 2:07:07Speaker 1: is one of the things that I love about you
- 2:07:08Speaker 1: is that you're so fucking creative with stuff and you're
- 2:07:11Speaker 1: you're constantly trying every single piece of equipment.
- 2:07:14Speaker 2: I have trained with the last.
- 2:07:17Speaker 1: These we see so many that is your training bag.
- 2:07:21Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's what I trained.
- 2:07:22Speaker 3: Nice.
- 2:07:23Speaker 4: I hit pads in that never I've never wore hand wraps.
- 2:07:26Speaker 3: Once fantast open your hand to go straight out and
- 2:07:33Speaker 3: then the pointer knuckle protecting that pointer knuckle is so big.
- 2:07:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's it right. Yeah, Oh, it's so nice
- 2:07:45Speaker 1: that you still grip right, you can still grip, but
- 2:07:48Speaker 1: your fingers hard to chokes.
- 2:07:51Speaker 3: And the and the door knocking knuckles. This is what
- 2:07:53Speaker 3: you do. You got but still it's just those are
- 2:07:58Speaker 3: your fantastic thank you and then I got you another
- 2:08:01Speaker 3: pair of X factors too, because you got big hands,
- 2:08:04Speaker 3: and I remember I give you the sixties. You're like,
- 2:08:06Speaker 3: bro things they gotta work for me.
- 2:08:08Speaker 1: Yeah, go big answer for a little dude, unusual.
- 2:08:11Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll get it done. But I mean, anytime you
- 2:08:15Speaker 3: want to. I'm so happy.
- 2:08:16Speaker 1: I'm so happy gonna get it done because I pushed
- 2:08:17Speaker 1: for it so many times. I brought it up to Dan,
- 2:08:19Speaker 1: and I brought up to everybody. I was like, listen,
- 2:08:22Speaker 1: what the fuck are we doing? You guys spend a
- 2:08:23Speaker 1: million billion dollars trying to make these new gloves. You
- 2:08:26Speaker 1: got rid of them in three months.
- 2:08:27Speaker 2: That's because this could sound bad. That's because they've never
- 2:08:34Speaker 2: thought about the fighter.
- 2:08:35Speaker 3: But they did. They tried. They tried to make me.
- 2:08:37Speaker 1: They tried, they tried, they tried.
- 2:08:39Speaker 3: They didn't fucking they did do they you know how
- 2:08:41Speaker 3: much money. I'm not going to tell you how much
- 2:08:42Speaker 3: money they did.
- 2:08:44Speaker 2: To do what to give me the same exact fucking product.
- 2:08:49Speaker 1: The people don't know what change they're doing.
- 2:08:51Speaker 3: I hired a company that works on they change in
- 2:08:54Speaker 3: their gloves, but they don't know they they took the ideas.
- 2:08:56Speaker 3: At least they tried. They did. I will give them.
- 2:09:00Speaker 1: Try, but I remember seeing the gloves when they tried
- 2:09:02Speaker 1: and going, these suck. These are not as good. I'm
- 2:09:05Speaker 1: right away. I was still uncomfortable, still said to him
- 2:09:08Speaker 1: right away, why don't you just get Trevor schoops, What
- 2:09:09Speaker 1: the fuck are we doing here? No, these are good,
- 2:09:11Speaker 1: These are good. Get the fuck the best gloves exist.
- 2:09:15Speaker 1: They already made. Like there's only a few people out
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: there that are willing to, like really get creative and
- 2:09:22Speaker 1: redesign and engineer gloves. And then when someone does it
- 2:09:26Speaker 1: to the extent that you've done it, like God, So.
- 2:09:28Speaker 3: Joe, when you think about that, that's that's where I
- 2:09:31Speaker 3: think I fit in well with this because I want
- 2:09:33Speaker 3: to evolve with the company, and if we change one thing,
- 2:09:36Speaker 3: like my first thing I want to do is help
- 2:09:38Speaker 3: a performance. I don't want someone to hurt their hand
- 2:09:40Speaker 3: where all of a sudden I hurt my hand on
- 2:09:41Speaker 3: the top of your head and I'm just left handed now,
- 2:09:43Speaker 3: and everybody just you know, there's no pay per view now,
- 2:09:46Speaker 3: but I pay to watch these fights. And now the
- 2:09:48Speaker 3: guy that I wanted to see fight can't continue because
- 2:09:51Speaker 3: he hurt his hand. Right, So we fix that problem.
- 2:09:53Speaker 3: We fix longer, better grip strength for the grapplers who
- 2:09:56Speaker 3: are gonna need to have risk control when throwing shots.
- 2:09:58Speaker 3: I want to help athletes perform, and as we go,
- 2:10:01Speaker 3: let's slowly develop and test with the athletes and find
- 2:10:04Speaker 3: out what because it's about the athlete, it's what works
- 2:10:06Speaker 3: for them. And when we can get gloves on people
- 2:10:08Speaker 3: and try something like you were talking about, that'll take time.
- 2:10:11Speaker 3: You have to train in and go, oh, I actually
- 2:10:13Speaker 3: like this better, and there's the pros and cons. There's
- 2:10:14Speaker 3: pros and cons and everything, so it would take time.
- 2:10:18Speaker 3: And that's where where I'm passionate about is let's find
- 2:10:21Speaker 3: a problem and let me think through solving it.
- 2:10:23Speaker 1: But I need to know what your gear and we
- 2:10:25Speaker 1: send anybody to your website. It's is it on x
- 2:10:28Speaker 1: O n X sports on exports dot com. A lot
- 2:10:31Speaker 1: of people spell it with gloves, the best shin pads.
- 2:10:35Speaker 1: Thank you you have the best equipment. It's fucking phenomenal.
- 2:10:37Speaker 1: There it is right there, that's the website on exports.
- 2:10:41Speaker 1: It's fucking fantastic stuff. I mean, it's really obvious that
- 2:10:44Speaker 1: it's a high level coach who's developed all this ship.
- 2:10:46Speaker 1: I mean, everything you make is top of the food.
- 2:10:49Speaker 2: The best tester in the world, the harder I fucking break.
- 2:10:53Speaker 4: Everything, I'm sure, and I can't.
- 2:10:55Speaker 1: I cannot.
- 2:10:56Speaker 2: I cannot break these gloves. I cannot break these Thus
- 2:10:59Speaker 2: I have to switch every like six months because I
- 2:11:02Speaker 2: wear the foam out so much.
- 2:11:03Speaker 4: So I don't ever want to hurt my mind.
- 2:11:05Speaker 3: But you've got two or three sessions of training every day,
- 2:11:07Speaker 3: Like that's for a typical person. These gloves are gonna
- 2:11:09Speaker 3: last well over. Corey had his shine guards for four years.
- 2:11:14Speaker 4: I had my shut guards for like three years.
- 2:11:16Speaker 1: And when you think about the amount of damage that
- 2:11:18Speaker 1: that three years and tails, that's pretty incredible for me. Foam. Yeah,
- 2:11:23Speaker 1: you're soaked with sweat. Everything's getting broken down and moisturized
- 2:11:29Speaker 1: and then trying out again.
- 2:11:30Speaker 3: Crap, Hey, that's our bags that were up there. Dude.
- 2:11:33Speaker 3: We got connectors for the shin guards and the knepads
- 2:11:36Speaker 3: on the outside, so all your equipment's on the outside
- 2:11:38Speaker 3: of the bag to dry. Oh that's really cool too.
- 2:11:41Speaker 3: So just trying to rethink how things work out.
- 2:11:44Speaker 1: So I love about the way you approach things. They're
- 2:11:46Speaker 1: always like fixing the problem.
- 2:11:47Speaker 3: I can't stand when we're not even working on kickboxing
- 2:11:50Speaker 3: and someone's kicking and it's because they're fucking geared.
- 2:11:53Speaker 2: The worst fixing my nose smelling people. I was like,
- 2:11:56Speaker 2: oh my god.
- 2:11:59Speaker 1: You know how them especially yeah, right, like the dudes
- 2:12:03Speaker 1: who don't watch their keys, those guys are that's a
- 2:12:05Speaker 1: real problem.
- 2:12:06Speaker 3: It's a real problem.
- 2:12:07Speaker 1: And those are the ones that always give you fucking
- 2:12:08Speaker 1: cooties to right, So nasty, Yeah, it's nasty. Listen, justin,
- 2:12:14Speaker 1: I just want to I'm so glad you're not going

- 2:12:31Speaker 4: This country because we're at the melting pot.
- 2:12:33Speaker 2: Yes, and I think I have done it. I think

- 2:12:39Speaker 1: it five stars. It was fucking phenomenal. It was one
- 2:12:42Speaker 1: of the greatest events that any sporting event has ever
- 2:12:46Speaker 1: put on. I mean maybe the greatest sporting event in
- 2:12:48Speaker 1: the history of the world.
- 2:12:49Speaker 4: I said it before, this is gonna be like some

- 2:13:14Speaker 1: there to see it live.
- 2:13:16Speaker 3: I was honestly really nervous. Joe. I was like, dude,
- 2:13:18Speaker 3: there's like just again being around everybody and something could happen.
- 2:13:22Speaker 3: The drones that you know that they stopped. Like again,
- 2:13:26Speaker 3: I wasn't knowing what to expect. And then till after
- 2:13:28Speaker 3: the fight because again we couldn't take it in. It
- 2:13:30Speaker 3: was a beautiful thing, and justin.
- 2:13:31Speaker 2: I was like, fuck it if I get taken out
- 2:13:32Speaker 2: in the middle of the cage. How legendary that.
- 2:13:35Speaker 1: I said to Trump. I hope we don't die, I
- 2:13:38Speaker 1: said that Trump, I hope we don't die in terrorist
- 2:13:40Speaker 1: at goes. We gotta go somehow.

- 2:14:13Speaker 3: Check it out.
- 2:14:14Speaker 2: We fucking missed our ass off. We were in there,
- 2:14:16Speaker 2: it was windy. These things do not stop moving. They
- 2:14:19Speaker 2: could see us forever and they just kept going and
- 2:14:22Speaker 2: we were on shoot. We couldn't get prone, so we
- 2:14:24Speaker 2: had to you know, your your every hunt, You're like,
- 2:14:27Speaker 2: I'm going to have a prone position. I'm gonna shoot from.
- 2:14:29Speaker 2: We cannot get in a pro position. So we're on
- 2:14:31Speaker 2: shooting sticks, trying to manipulate the sticks.
- 2:14:33Speaker 3: And take shot.
- 2:14:34Speaker 1: Yeah, we were not ready.
- 2:14:37Speaker 2: So Luke Luke misses from one hundred and forty yards.
- 2:14:42Speaker 2: This story with this thing goes to about thousand, ninety
- 2:14:45Speaker 2: three yards and Crazy hits it in the head, drops it,
- 2:14:49Speaker 2: and everyone's just like, what the fuck, Luke? How how
- 2:14:53Speaker 2: do you hit that shot and miss a hundred This
- 2:14:56Speaker 2: is a yeah, look at this, Wow, that does he
- 2:14:59Speaker 2: shoot for the head?
- 2:15:01Speaker 1: No?
- 2:15:02Speaker 2: I don't even know if you hear that.
- 2:15:03Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it looked like it was well a
- 2:15:07Speaker 1: thousand yards.
- 2:15:09Speaker 2: We're just trying to hit the center. Of the fucking target.
- 2:15:12Speaker 1: Well in these crazy prairies to the kind of wind
- 2:15:14Speaker 1: drifter dealing.
- 2:15:15Speaker 2: And they don't they can see for miles.
- 2:15:17Speaker 4: These they do not stop moving.
- 2:15:18Speaker 1: They evolved to get away from cheetahs. There used to
- 2:15:21Speaker 1: be North American cheetahs, and so North America. This is
- 2:15:24Speaker 1: all before the Younger Driest impact. So it was like
- 2:15:28Speaker 1: when somewhere around eleven eight hundred years ago, sixty five
- 2:15:31Speaker 1: percent of all North American mammals went extinct, and there
- 2:15:35Speaker 1: was American lion that was bigger than the African lion,
- 2:15:38Speaker 1: and then there was a cheetah. And these fuckers, these
- 2:15:41Speaker 1: guys evolved to get away from cheetahs. So they can
- 2:15:43Speaker 1: run like fifty five miles an hour forever.
- 2:15:47Speaker 3: It was crazy.
- 2:15:48Speaker 1: Wow, when you look at them, they look prehistoric. E
- 2:15:51Speaker 1: eyeballs are like way out here.
- 2:15:53Speaker 2: It's crazy how good a decoy works with them though.
- 2:15:55Speaker 1: Oh, horses too. Guys walk right up on them.
- 2:15:57Speaker 2: On horses, get a move a mooku.
- 2:16:00Speaker 4: They can just walk right behind.
- 2:16:01Speaker 1: Them, walk right behind them and then you can That's
- 2:16:03Speaker 1: how archery hunters do it a lot, because you have
- 2:16:05Speaker 1: to get very tough to sneak. Sneak up on them. Hunt.
- 2:16:09Speaker 1: Do you have a hunt?
- 2:16:12Speaker 2: No?
- 2:16:12Speaker 1: No, whatuld you want to learn? You would?
- 2:16:14Speaker 2: It's nothing I have.
- 2:16:16Speaker 3: I have a boat.
- 2:16:18Speaker 2: I shot an elk and did not recover it. And
- 2:16:21Speaker 2: I told myself that I will never go archery hunting
- 2:16:25Speaker 2: unless I have the time and effort to be a
- 2:16:30Speaker 2: ready Yet that shot.
- 2:16:31Speaker 4: And so right now it's just rifle.
- 2:16:33Speaker 1: Well, rifle is always going to be the most effective way.
- 2:16:36Speaker 1: It's still an awesome one.
- 2:16:37Speaker 4: Who's whitetail in Arizona is my favorite hunt?
- 2:16:39Speaker 3: Oh?
- 2:16:40Speaker 1: Really?

- 2:16:45Speaker 2: I grew up there, so my my buddies their whole
- 2:16:47Speaker 2: life have looked. We could go out there, we wouldn't
- 2:16:50Speaker 2: find ship, right, they're fucking everywhere, but they can't find them,
- 2:16:53Speaker 2: the gray ghosts, and my buddies can find them. And
- 2:16:57Speaker 2: it's such a fun hunt.
