- 0:00Speaker 1: Off the bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn. Let's go.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Let's go from a championship backfield to your morning. Driven'sday.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Hester and Hester.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Got a pat a PA, you're.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Locked in to off the bench. There's Brad Control live
- 0:19Speaker 1: from the Raising Kine Studio. Here's Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:53Speaker 4: Jazz God. When he's not here, he can't howl, y'all.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Actually is not good at howling.
- 1:04Speaker 5: Hell, we miss him, we love him. I wish he
- 1:07Speaker 5: was here. When he's not here, a man can't how
- 1:14Speaker 5: It's okay, he's new to the wolf Pack. We'll give
- 1:16Speaker 5: him that. He's the newest member.
- 1:18Speaker 6: I mean, I don't think we can call him new anymore.
- 1:20Speaker 7: Also, wasn't howling his idea could be wrong.
- 1:24Speaker 6: Honestly, Okay, No, I don't want to be that person.
- 1:26Speaker 6: But I think I started doing it because we were
- 1:28Speaker 6: talking about the coyotes and then we were doing the yoh's,
- 1:30Speaker 6: and I randomly just was like.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Oh, it was his idea.
- 1:36Speaker 6: And then we made and then we made him howl
- 1:39Speaker 6: that one time because like he was talking about the
- 1:42Speaker 6: coyotes and I was like, let me get a howl,
- 1:44Speaker 6: and he hit us with the Auga.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Yeah, oh God bless him. He's an idiot, but he's
- 1:50Speaker 5: our idiot. Yeah, you know, he's on his way to
- 1:53Speaker 5: Idaho to go fishing. Well not quite yet.
- 1:55Speaker 6: But when he was sitting here on Monday and Chris
- 1:59Speaker 6: was my was making fun of him for pulling up
- 2:02Speaker 6: Mozilla Firefox, Yeah, don't ever change. Yeah, I'm like, don't
- 2:06Speaker 6: ever stop using Firefox if that's your preference, right, if
- 2:10Speaker 6: you want to go on to Firefox and Google. He does,
- 2:13Speaker 6: fire Like on Firefox, type in Google in the search bar,
- 2:17Speaker 6: then do that. Don't ever let Chris dole You're shine.
- 2:21Speaker 6: Don't let anybody do You're shine.
- 2:22Speaker 7: Matt be you, he responded, like everybody using them as
- 2:26Speaker 7: alid Firefox. He was like, wait, what do you guys
- 2:27Speaker 7: using step.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Like normal like Google Chrome?
- 2:31Speaker 7: Why just go to Firefox and Google. What's what's the difference?
- 2:36Speaker 5: Like, you're right, Yeah, he's one of one. I think
- 2:39Speaker 5: we all know that he is. Thank God with peace
- 2:46Speaker 5: and love. Thank God.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Uh, we do have a lot to get to obviously.
- 2:52Speaker 5: Today, as Taylor laid out, we're gonna have Rhys Davis
- 2:55Speaker 5: join us in about thirty minutes from now. LSU's got
- 2:59Speaker 5: the first college game day against Clemson going to be
- 3:02Speaker 5: on campus, so wanted to have Reso on to kind
- 3:04Speaker 5: of break that down, talk about it, talk about some
- 3:06Speaker 5: off season storylines, and then Ben and Dick Arnold. I mean, hold,
- 3:10Speaker 5: the Mayo is joining us. We'll tell you why he's
- 3:13Speaker 5: Benedict Arnold a.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Little bit later on.
- 3:15Speaker 5: And then LSU linebacker Went Weeks is going to join
- 3:18Speaker 5: us in the third hour. Certainly looking forward to that
- 3:21Speaker 5: conversation as well. But before we get to all that jazz,
- 3:25Speaker 5: as we always do, get a little vibe, check around
- 3:27Speaker 5: the room. Landra at the box last night, how you doing?
- 3:33Speaker 6: So it's actually it was Entigre State. That's where the
- 3:36Speaker 6: studios entire, like where the brand is.
- 3:39Speaker 4: That's true.
- 3:39Speaker 3: So I mean I was across.
- 3:41Speaker 4: The street, but you were there in spirit?
- 3:43Speaker 3: Was there in spirit? I wish I wasn't.
- 3:47Speaker 6: The game went on three and a half hours plus
- 3:50Speaker 6: well I guess it was, yeah, like three and a
- 3:52Speaker 6: half hours or maybe I don't know, but anyway, sucked, yeah,
- 3:56Speaker 6: because I think it ended out like ten ten fifteen
- 3:59Speaker 6: is like three and a half hours.
- 4:01Speaker 3: And then the postgame show.
- 4:02Speaker 6: I didn't get out of there until almost eleven, So
- 4:05Speaker 6: that part of it I hate, and then we lose.
- 4:08Speaker 3: I hate that too.
- 4:09Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it's not like I was expecting too
- 4:12Speaker 6: much different, But I think, like every series, I just
- 4:15Speaker 6: kind of hold on to a little bit of hope
- 4:17Speaker 6: because they've put some good They've like strung together some
- 4:22Speaker 6: good at bats and some good innings before. But when
- 4:26Speaker 6: you give up back to back singles to lead off
- 4:30Speaker 6: the game and then load the bases and then give
- 4:33Speaker 6: up a grand Slam in the first inning, I mean,
- 4:35Speaker 6: it's kind of hard to come back from that.
- 4:39Speaker 4: It is, so I mean it. Look, I want to.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Find the national anthem and play it for y'all. I'm
- 4:46Speaker 3: doing that right now.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Actually, I wish that would have been tonight. What happens first?
- 4:52Speaker 4: The national anthem are the first.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Base national anthem?
- 4:56Speaker 6: Wait, I don't well, I don't remember how it went
- 4:59Speaker 6: yes last night, but I think it's national anthem first,
- 5:02Speaker 6: and then first pitch.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Okay, I don't know.
- 5:05Speaker 7: Well, that's what you gotta hope for, Jake.
- 5:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm just I'm asking whoever singing it tonight, do
- 5:10Speaker 5: me a solid and just butcher it.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Carl Lewis bad, Fergi bad No.
- 5:19Speaker 6: And then they panned to the crowd and this dude
- 5:21Speaker 6: started laughing.
- 5:22Speaker 4: That's rough. I know that that has to be. That
- 5:27Speaker 4: has to be probably, like we were talking about the
- 5:30Speaker 4: first pitch and YadA, YadA whatever.
- 5:31Speaker 5: If I go up there and I bounce it, sure
- 5:33Speaker 5: my boys are gonna give me a hard time.
- 5:36Speaker 4: You know, the nine new team's gonna eat me a
- 5:38Speaker 4: hard time. Whatever.
- 5:39Speaker 5: Yeah, Okay, if you butcher a national anthem, that's like
- 5:47Speaker 5: that's a song we all know when we all can
- 5:49Speaker 5: sing along to. But yeah, it's like, all right, go
- 5:52Speaker 5: and you're singing it. That has to be the most
- 5:54Speaker 5: nerve wracking thing in all like, oh, absolutely all of
- 5:58Speaker 5: tasks that you were asked to do.
- 6:00Speaker 6: Parker McCollum will not see the national anthem when they
- 6:03Speaker 6: ask him to do it because he's he doesn't want
- 6:06Speaker 6: to like risk butchering it and people remembering that forever, because.
- 6:11Speaker 7: First you're you're up there ten seconds and you know,
- 6:14Speaker 7: even if you have a bad one, they're gonna be you.
- 6:16Speaker 7: But you're gonna laugh and they're gonna laugh if you
- 6:19Speaker 7: have the national anthem in silence for two minutes, but
- 6:23Speaker 7: people just staring at you.
- 6:24Speaker 4: Gotta finish, you.
- 6:25Speaker 7: Know, you're bombing they you know, you're bombing. That's awful.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Yeah, no, m.
- 6:33Speaker 3: I found it. Okay, we can't play that, No, but
- 6:36Speaker 3: I want to show you this.
- 6:38Speaker 5: I'm gonna I'm gonna watch, but we can't for the
- 6:42Speaker 5: sake of whoever.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Did whoever it was, went through enough. I'm sorry they have.
- 6:45Speaker 5: They have gone through the ringer already and then the
- 6:51Speaker 5: team went through the ringer.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Yeah, but but we already knew what this season was. Yeah, Okay,
- 7:00Speaker 4: So if.
- 7:01Speaker 5: We're trying to pump some sunshine into not the baseball
- 7:07Speaker 5: right now because of where it's at, but just to
- 7:09Speaker 5: our feelings, yeah, not totally in our feels. Mason Brown
- 7:13Speaker 5: had two more hits. Serna had two more hits. Aaron
- 7:16Speaker 5: Beadie had two more hits.
- 7:18Speaker 4: So so the young players that are getting an opportunity
- 7:23Speaker 4: right now, like that's the only thing that we've got
- 7:25Speaker 4: to take from what's going on right now.
- 7:27Speaker 5: And it's not a good place to be. LSU baseball
- 7:30Speaker 5: is not typically there. They are, you know, historically bad
- 7:34Speaker 5: and wild pitches and walks and all the things and
- 7:36Speaker 5: all the metrics that we talk about. But right now
- 7:39Speaker 5: you at least have some young baseball players that are
- 7:43Speaker 5: going to be back next year.
- 7:45Speaker 4: You assume they're gonna be back next year.
- 7:47Speaker 3: I feel like there's some that you can retain.
- 7:49Speaker 6: Cerna feels like he's gonna come back, but Hunt and
- 7:53Speaker 6: I were talking about this the other day.
- 7:56Speaker 3: You need to retain those players.
- 7:58Speaker 6: But also, like the Steven Mylam things a little interesting,
- 8:01Speaker 6: and I feel like you can make a good argument
- 8:05Speaker 6: for him coming back.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Obviously, people are gonna do whatever they want to do.
- 8:09Speaker 6: But I don't think that Mylam is going to be
- 8:12Speaker 6: somebody that is immediately called up into.
- 8:15Speaker 3: The show or like even maybe.
- 8:18Speaker 6: Like not to be ugly, but I maybe not even
- 8:22Speaker 6: get there, you know what I mean. Like he'll make
- 8:25Speaker 6: it to the MLB, but I don't know if he'll
- 8:27Speaker 6: ever get to.
- 8:28Speaker 3: That level, you know.
- 8:29Speaker 6: And so I think you can make the argument like, hey,
- 8:33Speaker 6: do one more year here, stack up your nil money
- 8:37Speaker 6: and then but I don't know, Like people are going
- 8:39Speaker 6: to do whatever they want, but I would love That's
- 8:43Speaker 6: a really big ask, but I would love if you
- 8:46Speaker 6: could retain that we seen.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Look, we've seen players that we didn't think a chance
- 8:50Speaker 4: coming back, and.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I didn't think Calm would come back.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Jones, Yep, I think he'd come back when he did. Yeah,
- 8:56Speaker 5: so it's happened before. Mylem feels to me like somebody
- 9:01Speaker 5: that he'll he'll get drafted, no doubt about it. And
- 9:05Speaker 5: he's so good defensively, he's a switch hitter, like he'll
- 9:07Speaker 5: be the twenty third guy on a roster and he's
- 9:12Speaker 5: always going to have a spot and he'll be a
- 9:13Speaker 5: defensive replacement. He'll be a pinch hitter because you know,
- 9:16Speaker 5: is a switch hitter. So true, I think he will
- 9:19Speaker 5: have a career at the highest level. But you know,
- 9:23Speaker 5: to your.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Point, I don't know if it's gonna happen.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Is it high enough to not come back and make
- 9:28Speaker 5: a lot of money in no space? So there, Yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 5: I mean there's really an opportunity. But like now, you
- 9:33Speaker 5: don't have to worry about just that. You gotta worry
- 9:35Speaker 5: about that, and you gotta worry about transfer portal, right,
- 9:39Speaker 5: Like all of these players like Serna and bron and
- 9:42Speaker 5: Aaron Beattie are all going to have every single team
- 9:46Speaker 5: tampering in their ear, like.
- 9:49Speaker 7: Honestly, especially but because like as good as he's been,
- 9:52Speaker 7: he's still primarily the DH. If Aaron Beadi comes back,
- 9:55Speaker 7: does cerna want to be a full time catcher, Like
- 9:57Speaker 7: that's that's something he's gonna have to consider the he
- 10:00Speaker 7: comes back. But there's there's always the chance he doesn't, right,
- 10:04Speaker 7: I think there's.
- 10:04Speaker 3: A pretty good chance that him and Braun do.
- 10:10Speaker 8: No.
- 10:10Speaker 4: I mean, look, but you.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Never know what I'm gonna bet bet I'm gonna bet
- 10:15Speaker 5: on Jay Johnson to be able to retain.
- 10:18Speaker 6: Whoever, especially young freshman talent like that, Like they came
- 10:21Speaker 6: to l s U for a reason.
- 10:23Speaker 4: Yeah, he got certed to come here and not go
- 10:24Speaker 4: to the draft.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Yeah, if you can do that, you can certainly show
- 10:28Speaker 5: him the you know, all the things that make LSU great,
- 10:30Speaker 5: which he knows that's why he came here. And so
- 10:32Speaker 5: it's gonna that part of it will certainly be interesting.
- 10:35Speaker 5: Something will certainly continue to talk about breakdown. But again,
- 10:39Speaker 5: there's not going to be a whole lot weaken give
- 10:41Speaker 5: you from this game. It's gonna be positive. Your starting
- 10:44Speaker 5: pitcher didn't last an inning and gave up six earned runs. Okay,
- 10:48Speaker 5: that part of it. It is like Ricking actually came
- 10:50Speaker 5: in Rickon, Yeah, he.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Had five strikeouts and settled.
- 10:54Speaker 7: Yeah, he's set some moments this year. Man not must
- 10:57Speaker 7: have been midweek, but like he's he's said some moment.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Like it wildly enough, outside of the six innings you
- 11:03Speaker 5: gave up in two thirds of an inning.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Uh, you only give up two more.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Earned runs, and then you blank three straight until you
- 11:12Speaker 5: get to Maverick Rizzy, who gave up one earned run.
- 11:15Speaker 5: Because being's earned runs are runs. Sorry, we're not earned
- 11:19Speaker 5: So take the over, as you said a Landro, Yeah,
- 11:26Speaker 5: baseball's play and take the over.
- 11:28Speaker 6: I mean they're gonna score, They're just not gonna win
- 11:30Speaker 6: any how about the other team's gonna score more.
- 11:32Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I'm injured. Franke Haz brought it up.
- 11:34Speaker 7: It's still going six of your last seven SEC losses,
- 11:37Speaker 7: you've scored at least eight runs.
- 11:38Speaker 5: Yeah, yep, which was like the complete opposite earlier instant.
- 11:44Speaker 5: Look that and again, and j would tell you this too.
- 11:46Speaker 5: That's kind of what That's what bad teams do. Bad
- 11:48Speaker 5: teams don't put it all together right and to the
- 11:52Speaker 5: standard of what Jay is and what he's felt, just
- 11:54Speaker 5: this bad team, Like we know that.
- 11:57Speaker 4: So it's going to be an interesting offseason.
- 12:02Speaker 5: It's going to be a very interesting offer because every
- 12:04Speaker 5: move that's made is gonna be under a microscope. It's
- 12:07Speaker 5: going to be talked about. Ye Oh, that's just going
- 12:10Speaker 5: to be the next York or that's gonna you know,
- 12:12Speaker 5: they're going to go through that. They're going to know that,
- 12:13Speaker 5: like there's not anything. That's the thing when you have
- 12:15Speaker 5: a bad year. That's the thing that you have to
- 12:18Speaker 5: know as a player or as a coach, whatever, You're
- 12:21Speaker 5: not going to do anything that is really celebrated until
- 12:24Speaker 5: you have a first pitch because they're always going to
- 12:28Speaker 5: go back to all we heard the same thing last year, right,
- 12:32Speaker 5: wrong or indifferent? Yep, that's just the way it is.
- 12:34Speaker 5: And oh, man, I don't know. This guy's coming over
- 12:37Speaker 5: from the HICCO conference. Is he really gonna be able
- 12:40Speaker 5: to handle the SEC And that's going to be the conversation. Yeah,
- 12:44Speaker 5: Like you had, you know, players for your national championship
- 12:48Speaker 5: team coming over from Utah Valley that could handle it.
- 12:50Speaker 5: One came over from Grand Canyon this year and couldn't. Yeah,
- 12:53Speaker 5: so you've had both ways. Nobody's going to go back
- 12:56Speaker 5: multiple years. They're just gonna remember last.
- 12:58Speaker 6: Year and what that was, which is crazy because like
- 13:00Speaker 6: that just feels a little unfair to me, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 6: like you yeah, and I know, I get it. I
- 13:06Speaker 6: understand and I get that, but like it's just you're
- 13:11Speaker 6: kind of it's like a recency bias kind of thing
- 13:13Speaker 6: where you know, Jay came in his first season here
- 13:18Speaker 6: was not anything to write home about, but it wasn't terrible.
- 13:21Speaker 6: And then you go and you win the National Championship,
- 13:24Speaker 6: and then you get somebody like Dylan Cruise, you get
- 13:27Speaker 6: Tommy White, you get all these people like you are
- 13:30Speaker 6: a good recruiter, you are good in the portal. You
- 13:33Speaker 6: missed one season and you didn't get what you thought
- 13:36Speaker 6: you were going to get out of these guys and
- 13:38Speaker 6: that sucks. But you know, I'm not going to sit
- 13:41Speaker 6: here and act like Jay Johnson doesn't know what he's
- 13:44Speaker 6: doing right, And I don't think that will I look
- 13:47Speaker 6: at some of the stuff that some of the people
- 13:50Speaker 6: that were am I gonna look into their stuff? Yeah,
- 13:52Speaker 6: I'm gonna look into it, But I don't I'm not
- 13:54Speaker 6: going to sit here and be like Jay's going to
- 13:57Speaker 6: miss in the portal again, or he does know how
- 14:00Speaker 6: to recruit or he doesn't know how to like I'm
- 14:03Speaker 6: not gonna do that and I'm not gonna start questioning
- 14:06Speaker 6: him was this season terrible historically, yes, one thousand percent.
- 14:10Speaker 6: But I'm not gonna sit here and act like Jay
- 14:12Speaker 6: Johnson doesn't know what he's doing.
- 14:14Speaker 7: Yeah, because it's something like a sane fan, which normally
- 14:19Speaker 7: don't exist. Back to Jake's point, like it just it's
- 14:23Speaker 7: I think a lot of it has to do with
- 14:25Speaker 7: like this year, even with the slow start, a lot
- 14:27Speaker 7: of people were like, oh, to Jay Johnson, will figure
- 14:29Speaker 7: it out, don't worry, we'll figure it out. Oh yeah, right,
- 14:32Speaker 7: and the fact that it never came around this year,
- 14:34Speaker 7: there are going to be fans that are like, you
- 14:36Speaker 7: didn't do it last year, which, like to a Launderst point,
- 14:38Speaker 7: not fair, but that's how a lot of fans are.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:44Speaker 5: They also which you have the ability to do now,
- 14:47Speaker 5: which you never really had before.
- 14:49Speaker 4: You would get one or two.
- 14:51Speaker 5: You got to try to hold on to as many
- 14:53Speaker 5: as these high score crews as you possibly can.
- 14:56Speaker 4: You got crushed last year.
- 14:58Speaker 5: There's been years where you've been really good and it's
- 15:00Speaker 5: always a little bit of a coin flip, but now
- 15:02Speaker 5: you have more chances of the coin landing in your
- 15:05Speaker 5: direction that you want because of nil. Yeah, and we've
- 15:08Speaker 5: talked about it and verge Osbury. The athletic directors talked
- 15:11Speaker 5: about it like baseball.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Is going to get theirs.
- 15:13Speaker 5: They are going to get the funds that they need
- 15:16Speaker 5: to be competitive, and so you got to have some
- 15:19Speaker 5: of those guys that right now have gone to the
- 15:21Speaker 5: draft to come to campus.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:25Speaker 5: See if they can get that done again, it's going
- 15:28Speaker 5: to be a very interesting off season for LSU baseball.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Look at us talking sports in the first segment. Who
- 15:33Speaker 4: are we? I don't even recognize us right now.
- 15:35Speaker 5: We'll take a break more OTB when we come back
- 15:37Speaker 5: here live from the raising Kine studio. Off the bench,
- 15:42Speaker 5: all right, you know what nobody wants to do after
- 15:45Speaker 5: a long day, drag the trash cans to the curve,
- 15:48Speaker 5: then remember to bring them back the next morning. And
- 15:50Speaker 5: that's where trash Rangers comes in. Trash Rangers is South
- 15:53Speaker 5: Louisiana's convenient trash can valet service. They can handle the
- 15:58Speaker 5: rollout and return of your garbage cans every single week,
- 16:02Speaker 5: so you never have to think about it again. So
- 16:04Speaker 5: no more forgetting to have your trash out by the street,
- 16:08Speaker 5: no more forgetting to bring it back to the house,
- 16:10Speaker 5: no more angry texts from you know who. So trash
- 16:14Speaker 5: Rangers is perfect for busy families, senior citizens, frequent travelers,
- 16:17Speaker 5: airbnbe owners, for honestly anybody who wants one less thing
- 16:21Speaker 5: to worry about every week. So it is one of
- 16:25Speaker 5: the services you probably didn't even realize that they had.
- 16:27Speaker 5: And they offer what they do, and they offer that
- 16:29Speaker 5: they offer rolloff Dumpster's three different sizes to choose from.
- 16:33Speaker 4: You can see all that information.
- 16:34Speaker 5: Sign up for that pickup today at trash rangers dot com.
- 16:37Speaker 4: That's trash rangers dot.

- 16:51Speaker 1: Matt and Rouge's go to for all things Louisiana sports
- 17:20Speaker 1: a lot of girl.
- 17:36Speaker 5: You know what I forgot. I was supposed to give
- 17:38Speaker 5: you a song, but this one's a good one to.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Be on there.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I know.
- 17:41Speaker 6: That's why I played it because I was like, he's
- 17:43Speaker 6: not giving me one and I wasn't gonna like pull
- 17:45Speaker 6: teeth for it.
- 17:46Speaker 4: I got as this is a good one.
- 17:49Speaker 3: So the rest is all you.
- 17:50Speaker 4: The theme today is songs with your jeep top off.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Wait ja tell the people what we're doing on Instagram.
- 17:58Speaker 3: But this is your idea.
- 18:00Speaker 5: We are every day because you know, music's had the
- 18:03Speaker 5: reason why we all show up here. The bump music
- 18:05Speaker 5: it h we're gonna put it together. We're gonna put
- 18:08Speaker 5: a playlist together. We're gonna put it on Instagram at OTB, Underscore.
- 18:13Speaker 4: ESPN on Instagram. Huh, so it's gonna be there.
- 18:16Speaker 5: Yesterday, A Landro was the first to go expensive candles.
- 18:21Speaker 6: Well, okay, my other one was just like way too
- 18:23Speaker 6: hyper specific.
- 18:24Speaker 5: It's like, hey, what does that mean? And he howe
- 18:26Speaker 5: he was over there googling it.
- 18:27Speaker 6: Well, because it's like, I don't know, I feel like
- 18:30Speaker 6: I'd light an expensive candle and drink a glass of
- 18:32Speaker 6: wine and listen to that music.
- 18:34Speaker 4: I explained it to him.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Yeah, he got it again, like it's gonna be kind
- 18:37Speaker 5: of a you know, a deeper cut.
- 18:38Speaker 3: It's so hyper specific.
- 18:40Speaker 5: Again, so like these are songs you're gonna listen to
- 18:42Speaker 5: with the top down.
- 18:44Speaker 4: And your jeep.
- 18:45Speaker 3: I like it.
- 18:50Speaker 4: All right, let's go ahead, ay and get the show started.
- 18:54Speaker 1: It's time to get glowing courtesy of go Flow Ivy Spa,

- 19:37Speaker 5: you out and always make sure that you are feeling
- 19:41Speaker 5: like you should with a little spring in your steps.
- 19:43Speaker 5: So go see them again, go flowiv dot com. All right, So,
- 19:50Speaker 5: as Tata said a little bit earlier, we do now
- 19:53Speaker 5: know the full schedule for the New Orleans Saints. Now
- 19:57Speaker 5: a couple of different things to point out, and we'll
- 20:00Speaker 5: actually probably I would assume kind of bounce in, bounce out,
- 20:03Speaker 5: back and forth with what's going on with this schedule. Yeah,
- 20:08Speaker 5: one primetime game. Now it's gonna be a big one.
- 20:13Speaker 5: It's gonna be October. The fifth's gonna be Week four,
- 20:17Speaker 5: Uh twenty, I believe a twenty year you know history obviously,
- 20:23Speaker 5: since you played the Falcons with Hurricane Katrina. I believe
- 20:27Speaker 5: that was week three when that happened. What's gonna happen
- 20:30Speaker 5: week four? It's gonna be your only Monday night game.
- 20:35Speaker 5: It's gonna be a big one. I mean, Superdome is
- 20:37Speaker 5: gonna be electric that night. Looking forward to seeing those scenes.
- 20:41Speaker 6: But we actually have some evening games this oh well,
- 20:48Speaker 6: I guess just one. Last season we didn't have it.
- 20:53Speaker 6: Any night games.
- 20:54Speaker 7: I don't think Saints love a noon game.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Well good because they got most of them. Yeah, I
- 21:01Speaker 5: mean your first two.
- 21:01Speaker 6: We didn't get what remember last season they didn't get
- 21:04Speaker 6: one primetime spot.
- 21:05Speaker 3: They didn't deserve it.
- 21:06Speaker 4: But yeah, so you get one. You get one here.
- 21:12Speaker 4: That's it. One single game.
- 21:15Speaker 5: But look, it is what it is and the things
- 21:19Speaker 5: that stand out to me, just kind of giving this
- 21:22Speaker 5: the quick glance last night whenever it got released. And Taylor,
- 21:25Speaker 5: I don't know if you said it on air, if
- 21:26Speaker 5: you were talking to me just during the Brave, but
- 21:28Speaker 5: you're right at Detroit at Baltimore to open up your season.
- 21:32Speaker 4: You better be ready because you know what.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Those two teams are physical, they're mean, they're nasty, and
- 21:39Speaker 5: they're tough. Those aren't easy places to play. I can
- 21:41Speaker 5: promise you that I've played in both those places. They
- 21:44Speaker 5: are not easy.
- 21:46Speaker 7: No, I think the Lions are actually gonna be really
- 21:48Speaker 7: good this year. They lost both coordinators and their starting
- 21:51Speaker 7: center right before the season. Last year, they were going
- 21:53Speaker 7: to take a step back. The SAME's run defense was
- 21:56Speaker 7: terrible a year ago. Now you hope they've gotten better,
- 21:59Speaker 7: But don't forget like they got Isaya Pacheco to spell
- 22:03Speaker 7: Jamiir Gibbs, Like that's a solid number two. That is
- 22:05Speaker 7: a bad matchup, at least going into the season, because again,
- 22:09Speaker 7: like you mentioned, you don't know who's going to be
- 22:11Speaker 7: good and who's not. But that one, that's a tough
- 22:14Speaker 7: one out the gate. I think that one's tougher than
- 22:15Speaker 7: the Ravens, just because I mean jesse mentor first time
- 22:18Speaker 7: head coach, you scheme for Lamar, what's that gonna look like?
- 22:21Speaker 7: But Detroit Baltimore weeks one or two, it is off.
- 22:25Speaker 5: It is It is going to be a big challenge.
- 22:27Speaker 5: We're gonna know how much the Saints have improved right
- 22:30Speaker 5: from the get go. We're gonna see if they've taken
- 22:32Speaker 5: those steps. You get three home games after that, Vegas, Atlanta, Minnesota.
- 22:41Speaker 5: It's gonna be a tough stretch right there in those
- 22:43Speaker 5: first five games.
- 22:45Speaker 4: We don't know what Vegas is going to be.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Atlanta's arrival, who knows, it's gonna be a primetime game again,
- 22:50Speaker 5: the Dome's gonna be turned off for that one, looking
- 22:51Speaker 5: forward to the atmosphere for that one. Minnesota is a
- 22:54Speaker 5: team that we expected more out of last year. You
- 22:57Speaker 5: didn't get it. What are they going to be at quarterback?
- 22:59Speaker 5: But first five games are gonna be tough. But you
- 23:01Speaker 5: do have three straight home games. That never happens in
- 23:04Speaker 5: the National Football League. So that is a good thing,
- 23:06Speaker 5: even though you do start on the road for the
- 23:09Speaker 5: first two weeks. And so look, as I said, we're
- 23:12Speaker 5: gonna keep kind of going back and forth with the schedule.
- 23:15Speaker 5: Kind of gets some thoughts from everybody around the room.
- 23:17Speaker 5: I'll tell you this, if you don't think Detroit's not
- 23:19Speaker 5: fired up for the first game of the year. The
- 23:21Speaker 5: lowest ticket price to get two feet into the stadium
- 23:24Speaker 5: two hundred and twenty seven dollars right now, and we're
- 23:28Speaker 5: May the fifteenth, and that game isn't until.
- 23:29Speaker 4: September the thirteenth.
- 23:31Speaker 3: That's crazy.
- 23:31Speaker 5: So those fans are looking forward to this season, and
- 23:34Speaker 5: we'll break down all the tough points of the schedule,
- 23:37Speaker 5: the easier parts of the schedule, at least on paper.
- 23:40Speaker 5: As I was telling Tatane Launder before, you never know
- 23:43Speaker 5: in the National Football League because a team that you
- 23:46Speaker 5: thought was gonna be really good can be really bad,
- 23:48Speaker 5: and vice versa. But we'll break it all down throughout
- 23:50Speaker 5: today's show. Looking forward to having that conversation, just like
- 23:53Speaker 5: I'm looking forward to talking with Rhys Davis, host of
- 23:57Speaker 5: College Football's College Game Day, and he'll join us when
- 24:00Speaker 5: we come back here live from the.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Raisin King studio.

- 25:44Speaker 5: Welcome back in OTB joining us now one of the
- 25:47Speaker 5: most recognizable voices in all of college football. Every Saturday
- 25:50Speaker 5: morning during the season, he's setting the stage for the
- 25:52Speaker 5: biggest games in the country as the host of ESPN's
- 25:55Speaker 5: College Game Day, you name it, National Championships, SEC Saturdays,
- 25:59Speaker 5: everything in between. Nobody's going to do it better and
- 26:03Speaker 5: nobody's had a better seat over the last couple of decades.
- 26:05Speaker 5: And then our next guest, it is our guy, Reese Davis,
- 26:07Speaker 5: who joins us now.
- 26:08Speaker 4: Ree always a pleasure. Hope you're doing well.
- 26:10Speaker 2: I'm doing great. How are you always happy to get
- 26:13Speaker 2: a chance to talk with you.
- 26:14Speaker 5: Yeah, doing fantastic. Very excited to have you on. And
- 26:17Speaker 5: we now know the location already. I mean here we
- 26:20Speaker 5: are in the middle of May. We know the location
- 26:22Speaker 5: of the first College Game Day. It's going to be
- 26:23Speaker 5: here in Death Valley LSU versus Clemson. So one to
- 26:27Speaker 5: have you on to talk about that game and maybe
- 26:30Speaker 5: what it's going to look like in your opinion for
- 26:32Speaker 5: the twenty twenty six season.
- 26:34Speaker 4: So we'll start there.
- 26:35Speaker 5: LSU a place that you know very well, place you've
- 26:37Speaker 5: been too many times, and you know the last couple
- 26:40Speaker 5: of times it hasn't been you know, the best outcome
- 26:42Speaker 5: for the LSU Tigers, and I know they're trying to
- 26:45Speaker 5: change that because, as you know, there's a lot of
- 26:47Speaker 5: new around Baton Rouge.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Reese there's a ton there and I think the number
- 26:52Speaker 2: one reason though that we chose to come to Baton
- 26:54Speaker 2: Rouge for the season opener there is because of the
- 26:58Speaker 2: usually mild temperatures that we get in September in Baton Rouge.
- 27:02Speaker 2: So certainly looking forward to Actually, you know, the funny
- 27:06Speaker 2: thing is, I'd rather have that if it's you know,
- 27:10Speaker 2: ninety four in sweltering, I'll take that over four and windy.
- 27:15Speaker 2: You know, I'll take that every time I can deal
- 27:17Speaker 2: with a little sweat, I'll be fine. No, we're really
- 27:20Speaker 2: excited about it. I mean, the dawn of a new
- 27:22Speaker 2: era at LSU. So much of the fanfare and attention,
- 27:25Speaker 2: you know, everything that Lane Kiffen says is picked up,
- 27:30Speaker 2: and he understands that and uses it well. I think
- 27:33Speaker 2: it's a real challenge for Clemson off a tremendously disappointing
- 27:39Speaker 2: season last year. So it's a you know, it's a
- 27:41Speaker 2: great it's a great way to open up. It's a
- 27:43Speaker 2: marquee game, and it's on campus, which is you know,
- 27:47Speaker 2: much better than any of the past neutral site type
- 27:50Speaker 2: games that we've had at times, so we've opened on
- 27:53Speaker 2: campus the last few years. It's everything you want it's
- 27:56Speaker 2: a great place to come with. It's one of my
- 27:58Speaker 2: favorite stops anywhere in college football at rees.
- 28:02Speaker 5: So two teams that were certainly disappointing last year. And look,
- 28:06Speaker 5: when the first game of the year happened last year,
- 28:08Speaker 5: we thought maybe we'd be, you know, seeing a preview
- 28:10Speaker 5: of a potential playoff matchup.
- 28:12Speaker 4: It didn't go that way for either team.
- 28:14Speaker 5: And so both these teams come in with you know,
- 28:17Speaker 5: different kind of expectations, but they still are going to
- 28:20Speaker 5: be asked to win football games. And so LSU's got
- 28:22Speaker 5: all the new as we mentioned, They've got Lane kiffrom
- 28:24Speaker 5: the new staff, a lot of new players. And then
- 28:26Speaker 5: for Clemson and Dabo Sweeney right, it's a lot of
- 28:29Speaker 5: the same. It's a lot of the same players. Now
- 28:30Speaker 5: they've done some things in the transfer portal, which is
- 28:33Speaker 5: new for Dabo. But both these teams still have a
- 28:36Speaker 5: lot of pressure, a lot of expectations. Even though it
- 28:39Speaker 5: might be a different situation, both these teams still have
- 28:42Speaker 5: to win this year.
- 28:44Speaker 2: I couldn't agree more. Now there will be the fresh
- 28:47Speaker 2: set of downs feel a little bit for our last
- 28:49Speaker 2: year because I mean, Lane's proven that he can turn
- 28:52Speaker 2: things around quickly and he will, and you know, LSU
- 28:55Speaker 2: was not devoid of talent, and they still aren't, you know,
- 28:58Speaker 2: prior to Lane's rival and now certainly after he arrived,
- 29:02Speaker 2: they've acquired more talent, so you know, it's not as
- 29:05Speaker 2: if they're going to be lacking players. Clemson, on the
- 29:08Speaker 2: other hand, lost a lot of draft picks. They've got
- 29:11Speaker 2: a lot of unproven guys. But I think they're talented too,
- 29:14Speaker 2: and maybe, you know, maybe Clemson just needed some type
- 29:17Speaker 2: of you know, freshening. Now a lot of people have
- 29:20Speaker 2: questioned the choice of offensive coordinator, you know, sort of
- 29:23Speaker 2: going back to the future with Chad Morris. They'll have
- 29:26Speaker 2: a new quarterback. I thought as disappointing as last season
- 29:30Speaker 2: was for LSU, I thought it was more so for Clemson,
- 29:33Speaker 2: and not just because I picked Clemson to win the
- 29:35Speaker 2: National Championship and all that. I thought they were going
- 29:38Speaker 2: to have a great year last year and they just didn't.
- 29:41Speaker 2: So I think there's going to be a lot of
- 29:42Speaker 2: pressure there. I think more for LSU is just going
- 29:46Speaker 2: to be excitement and celebration. Clemson will have the you know,
- 29:51Speaker 2: the proverbial nothing to lose coming into it, because I
- 29:54Speaker 2: think everyone will expect LSU to win the game and
- 29:57Speaker 2: to win at home. But you know, I do think
- 30:00Speaker 2: that there is I think you're right, there is some
- 30:02Speaker 2: heat on Clemson to take a step back up to
- 30:07Speaker 2: avoid the field that you have right now that it's
- 30:10Speaker 2: gotten stale. And you know, I hate to say that.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Saw Dabbo, you know, last weekend and yeah, chat with
- 30:16Speaker 2: him for a little bit. I think they're excited. I
- 30:18Speaker 2: think they're confident, but you know, we'll see how it
- 30:21Speaker 2: goes once the season starts.
- 30:23Speaker 5: Yeah, You're not alone, by the way in that Clemson pick.
- 30:25Speaker 5: I mean, everybody, including this show. We had the top
- 30:28Speaker 5: two team in the country. They had so much coming back,
- 30:31Speaker 5: and you're right about the draft. I'm sitting there in
- 30:32Speaker 5: Pittsburgh and recovering the draft and I'm like, there goes
- 30:35Speaker 5: another Clemson guy.
- 30:36Speaker 4: There it goes another Clemson guy.
- 30:37Speaker 5: Like they had the talent, they had the Jimmies and
- 30:39Speaker 5: Joe's to be able to go out there and compete
- 30:42Speaker 5: like that, I think that's why it was so shocking,
- 30:43Speaker 5: because Dabo have been there so long and you had all.
- 30:46Speaker 4: These really really good football players.
- 30:48Speaker 5: They are going to play at the next level, and
- 30:50Speaker 5: so many times he's been able to put it together before.
- 30:53Speaker 5: They just could not ever stream together, really reached two
- 30:56Speaker 5: games in a row.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Yeah, And you know, look, I don't want to put
- 30:59Speaker 2: this all on because you know, Kate Clutton that got drafted,
- 31:02Speaker 2: and I hope he has a great career, and he
- 31:03Speaker 2: seems like a great young man out and I know
- 31:07Speaker 2: they think highly of him at Clemson, but it just
- 31:10Speaker 2: he never seemed comfortable last year. He you know, never
- 31:14Speaker 2: seemed to be able to get the offense moving. And
- 31:17Speaker 2: you would be in far better position than I with
- 31:19Speaker 2: your expertise. I don't know if it was structural, schematic,
- 31:24Speaker 2: you know, or exactly what the issue was, but they
- 31:27Speaker 2: just never seemed right offensively. And you know, by the
- 31:32Speaker 2: same token, they have a terrific defensive coordinator, Tom Allen,
- 31:35Speaker 2: but it was his first year, and it never seemed
- 31:38Speaker 2: that those defensive linemen, you know, Woods and Parker and
- 31:42Speaker 2: you know even Sammy Brown, who I love it linebacker
- 31:44Speaker 2: really ever just wrecked games. Not that they were bad,
- 31:49Speaker 2: but they just never really wrecked games the way you anticipated.
- 31:53Speaker 2: And it makes you, you know, it does make you
- 31:55Speaker 2: question exactly what it was. Is it just something that
- 31:58Speaker 2: needed shaken up? As if. You know, sometimes sometimes different voice,
- 32:04Speaker 2: different people doing it, you know, different people getting opportunities.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Maybe you know, maybe people felt stuck behind those stars
- 32:11Speaker 2: and therefore no one got pushed, you know, so all
- 32:13Speaker 2: of the little things that are hard to quantify that
- 32:17Speaker 2: can sort of make a season go sideways. I felt
- 32:19Speaker 2: like that happened to them, and then this game against
- 32:22Speaker 2: LSU will be an opportunity to turn that around. While LSU,
- 32:26Speaker 2: I think LSU fans are going to be a lot
- 32:28Speaker 2: more like they think they know what the Christmas present
- 32:32Speaker 2: is going to be like, but it's still going to
- 32:33Speaker 2: be a lot of jubilation, you know, ripping that ribbon
- 32:36Speaker 2: off and tearing it open and seeing what.
- 32:38Speaker 4: It really is, that's a great way to put it.
- 32:41Speaker 5: Catching up with Reese Davis OsO of ESPN's College Game Day,
- 32:44Speaker 5: hear on ot B and look, Reese, I don't want
- 32:48Speaker 5: to look too much into the future. We're excited about
- 32:50Speaker 5: game number one, but there's a chance you could have
- 32:53Speaker 5: LSU pretty early in the season after.
- 32:56Speaker 4: Game number one and week number three.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Now, look, I can't tell you what to wear, but
- 33:01Speaker 5: I know I might be wearing a helmet trying to
- 33:03Speaker 5: call that game in Oxford, Mississippi, as I had my
- 33:06Speaker 5: you know, myself up to the broadcast booth to call
- 33:08Speaker 5: the game. So we'll see how it goes. But there's
- 33:11Speaker 5: a good chance of both teams. And then both teams
- 33:13Speaker 5: have tough open openers, uh Ole, miss has Louisville and Nashville,
- 33:17Speaker 5: and I think the world of Jeff Brahm and that staff,
- 33:19Speaker 5: and so that's not just a role the helmet's out
- 33:20Speaker 5: there game for them either. But can you imagine if
- 33:23Speaker 5: both of those teams are undefeated a world where y'all
- 33:26Speaker 5: are not there for that game.
- 33:28Speaker 2: You know, we haven't announced that yet, as you know,
- 33:30Speaker 2: but I would say, you know, we probably have some
- 33:33Speaker 2: people looking to make a reservation at a hot yoga
- 33:35Speaker 2: studio near you. I mean, it's you know, I mean,
- 33:39Speaker 2: it's going to be the marquee game even you know what,
- 33:42Speaker 2: even if they both lose Jacob, if they I mean,
- 33:44Speaker 2: I'm not saying that we'd still go there, as certainly
- 33:47Speaker 2: other weeks maybe we would, maybe we wouldn't, but we
- 33:50Speaker 2: sort of pride ourselves on following the storyline of the
- 33:55Speaker 2: week and not necessarily just you know, teams that have
- 33:58Speaker 2: perfect records or whatever. Although certainly those two things dovetail
- 34:02Speaker 2: often that the teams are the best records and all
- 34:04Speaker 2: of that. Look, is there a world where they both
- 34:07Speaker 2: look bad? And you know, maybe, but I think it seems,
- 34:12Speaker 2: you know that that would be the leader in the clubhouse.
- 34:14Speaker 2: I think right now, just with all that, all that
- 34:17Speaker 2: has gone on and the verbal sparring back and forth,
- 34:21Speaker 2: and the way it ended last year, and you know,
- 34:24Speaker 2: Lane's departure and then to have him return to Oxford
- 34:27Speaker 2: and in some ways, as strange as this might sound,
- 34:30Speaker 2: and I know Lane sort of embraces things like that,
- 34:33Speaker 2: and if there's one guy who probably won't be too
- 34:35Speaker 2: bothered by it, it's it's him. But at least you
- 34:38Speaker 2: get it over with, you know, when and you know
- 34:41Speaker 2: there's been I still even think like Nick's return to
- 34:44Speaker 2: Baton Rouge was way different because he didn't leave directly
- 34:48Speaker 2: for Alabama, you know, I mean he went to the
- 34:50Speaker 2: NFL and the Alabama job was open, and he told
- 34:53Speaker 2: you know, it was way different. I understand it was
- 34:55Speaker 2: still emotional and you know, vitriolic and all of that,
- 34:59Speaker 2: but two years had passed and you built up to
- 35:03Speaker 2: it during the season. Right now, this LSU old miss
- 35:07Speaker 2: game with Lane returning there and the way it ended.
- 35:11Speaker 2: He didn't leave you know, an eight and fourteen he
- 35:13Speaker 2: left a playoff team that you know wasn't far from
- 35:16Speaker 2: playing for the national championship, and you know he he
- 35:20Speaker 2: left that team to go to Arrival, and now he's
- 35:24Speaker 2: coming back. At least, at least you're doing it early.
- 35:27Speaker 2: You know, at least you do it week three and
- 35:28Speaker 2: you get it over with and then every you know,
- 35:31Speaker 2: all the stories have been written and the interviews have
- 35:33Speaker 2: been done, and the people with boot and the red
- 35:36Speaker 2: stilettos have been thrown I'm sure as they are wont
- 35:39Speaker 2: to do at Oxford, all of that stuff happened, and
- 35:42Speaker 2: then everybody goes on with their lives and their season.
- 35:44Speaker 2: So I think there, you know, there's some you know,
- 35:47Speaker 2: and also, at least it's not week one, so you're
- 35:49Speaker 2: not just building up to it, so it almost I
- 35:51Speaker 2: don't know if it was planned. I don't know if
- 35:53Speaker 2: someone had the idea or whatever when the SEC schedule
- 35:57Speaker 2: came out, but at least, you know, at least it
- 36:00Speaker 2: seems to fall on the right spot of the calendar
- 36:02Speaker 2: where you get all of the drama, all of the
- 36:05Speaker 2: things that We're going to crave all of the storylines
- 36:07Speaker 2: that are going to be so juicy, but at the
- 36:10Speaker 2: same time, you know, you allow them. They have something
- 36:14Speaker 2: else to get to open the season. Then it gets
- 36:15Speaker 2: over with and everybody goes on with their lives.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Catching up with ESPN College Game Days. Rhese Davis here
- 36:21Speaker 4: on O TB.
- 36:22Speaker 5: Height Reese last one, and we certainly appreciate your time.
- 36:25Speaker 5: I'm sitting here and I'm thinking, and you and I
- 36:27Speaker 5: have had conversations about LSU coaches in the past, and
- 36:29Speaker 5: you know, Brian Kelly was here and it didn't work out.
- 36:32Speaker 5: There's just something about when LSU has let's call it
- 36:35Speaker 5: an interesting coach, right, I mean Coach Miles my guy. Look,
- 36:38Speaker 5: I named his son after Coach Miles. It means the
- 36:40Speaker 5: world to me. Eating grass and coach O God love him.
- 36:43Speaker 5: He is one of our favorites. And he's coach oh.
- 36:45Speaker 4: Right.
- 36:46Speaker 5: And you got Lane Kiffin now, who certainly, as you know,
- 36:48Speaker 5: is always you know, interesting and always going to have,
- 36:51Speaker 5: you know, something to put out there for whatever reason. Reese,
- 36:55Speaker 5: it just feels like that is what LSU needs when
- 36:58Speaker 5: they are the most successful looking coach say and built
- 37:00Speaker 5: this and he built the foundation of it, and coach
- 37:02Speaker 5: Miles and coach oh and hopefully link Kifn kind of
- 37:05Speaker 5: take that and run with it. But when LSU has
- 37:07Speaker 5: a coach, it's got a little something extra to him.
- 37:09Speaker 5: We call that land yap here in South Louisiana, Right,
- 37:13Speaker 5: it just feels like it's right, and it feels like
- 37:15Speaker 5: that's when they have their most success.
- 37:18Speaker 2: There's a thing in people talk about fits with programs,
- 37:24Speaker 2: and I'm of the opinion that there are very very
- 37:28Speaker 2: few guys, at least in our lifetimes who transcends fit,
- 37:34Speaker 2: meaning that they would win anywhere because of the power
- 37:38Speaker 2: of their coaching ability and the dynamic force of their personality.
- 37:42Speaker 2: The only two I can think of off the top
- 37:44Speaker 2: of my head are Nick Saban, who is the king
- 37:49Speaker 2: of that, and I would say Urban Meyer is probably
- 37:52Speaker 2: in that category. Grew gonna win anywhere. Maybe there's someone
- 37:56Speaker 2: I'm forgetting off the top of my head. To be
- 37:58Speaker 2: honest with you, Jacob, I w whether Brian Kelly might
- 38:01Speaker 2: be able to do that. Turns out he couldn't. So
- 38:04Speaker 2: I think that what you're talking about with that is
- 38:09Speaker 2: because of the colorful surroundings, because of the vibrancy of
- 38:15Speaker 2: LSU football. It just fits when you have a coach
- 38:19Speaker 2: who has who has a little edge to him or
- 38:22Speaker 2: a little quirkiness or some personality. You know, oo was
- 38:25Speaker 2: out of central casting, you know, less with the tortured syntax,
- 38:30Speaker 2: which I love. You know, there is a want for this,
- 38:33Speaker 2: you know, I love that. Still one of my favorite
- 38:35Speaker 2: lessisons of all time. There is a want for victory,
- 38:38Speaker 2: you know, things like that, and you just kind of
- 38:41Speaker 2: kind of eat it up. It fits. It feels like
- 38:43Speaker 2: LSU football, and I agree with you one hundred percent.
- 38:46Speaker 2: I think this is going to be a great match
- 38:49Speaker 2: and I'm really can't wait to see it get started,
- 38:52Speaker 2: opening up against Clemson.
- 38:54Speaker 5: All Right, there he is, Reese Davis good enough to
- 38:56Speaker 5: join us here on OTB Reese. It is always a pleasure.
- 38:58Speaker 5: I certainly appreciate the time. Look forward to our next conversation.
- 39:02Speaker 2: You bet my friends see you later.
- 39:03Speaker 5: All right, Reesce Davis good enough to join us here.
- 39:06Speaker 5: A lot of great stuff as always, And I mean
- 39:10Speaker 5: he didn't say it because I don't think.
- 39:11Speaker 4: He has to.
- 39:13Speaker 3: I think we can take it to the bank.
- 39:17Speaker 7: I think we even brought that up the other day.
- 39:19Speaker 7: We were like Oh, that's gonna be l s u's
- 39:21Speaker 7: second college game day of three weeks. And yeah, I
- 39:23Speaker 7: mean that's that's happening.
- 39:24Speaker 5: Yeah, look and uh, you know Reese has always been Yeah,
- 39:29Speaker 5: he's always been great. And when he said, you know,
- 39:31Speaker 5: maybe even if they lose, they don't even maybe have
- 39:33Speaker 5: to win.
- 39:33Speaker 4: That it kind of tells me that they are unless
- 39:35Speaker 4: something crazy. Yes, they're going. They are going to be
- 39:39Speaker 4: in Oxford, Mississippi.
- 39:41Speaker 5: All right, we will take a break more ot B
- 39:44Speaker 5: when we come back. Before we get to this break,

- 40:02Speaker 4: they'll do it for you as well.
- 40:04Speaker 5: They came into my house they said, hey, you need
- 40:07Speaker 5: a screen there on your back patio. Right, we put
- 40:10Speaker 5: a screen there. It is my daughter's favorite place to play.
- 40:13Speaker 5: We feel safe with the screen because it shades it,
- 40:16Speaker 5: It cools it.
- 40:16Speaker 4: Off, right, it keeps you know, security intact. As well.
- 40:20Speaker 5: And also it shades off our entire living room, right,
- 40:22Speaker 5: so we save on energy bills. And didn't even know

- 41:26Speaker 5: Welcome back in o TV here live from the Raise
- 41:29Speaker 5: of Canes Studio.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Appreciate Rhys Davis for hopping on with us.
- 41:34Speaker 5: And you know it's it's gonna be an exciting start
- 41:37Speaker 5: to the year for the Yellow Shoot Tigers.
- 41:39Speaker 4: They're gonna have an opportunity.
- 41:40Speaker 5: And again, like I am not one of those people
- 41:43Speaker 5: that's just gonna say, oh man, you got Clemson. Clemson's
- 41:45Speaker 5: gonna be down. I don't think Clempson's gonna be what
- 41:48Speaker 5: Clemson's been for a decade. I don't last year they
- 41:51Speaker 5: had really, really good players. It was evident by the
- 41:54Speaker 5: NFL Draft how many went there, and Peter Woods and
- 41:57Speaker 5: Parker and club Nick and we go on and on
- 42:00Speaker 5: with the list, right Blake Miller.
- 42:04Speaker 4: But it's still Clemson, right, It's still the emotions of
- 42:07Speaker 4: an opening game.
- 42:09Speaker 5: You've got a lot of new But I think el
- 42:12Speaker 5: su is going to handle business when you look at
- 42:14Speaker 5: the two rosters, when you look at the coaching staffs, whatever.
- 42:18Speaker 5: But you're gonna have that college game day experience on
- 42:20Speaker 5: your campus, and then you're gonna have probably Rhys Davis
- 42:24Speaker 5: kind of said, like just handle your business and good
- 42:27Speaker 5: chances we'll be there. Then you're gonna have the opportunity
- 42:30Speaker 5: in Oxford. It's gonna be two completely different feels. As
- 42:33Speaker 5: your bus roll said, but like you are going to
- 42:36Speaker 5: be on the prime time stage two times in the
- 42:41Speaker 5: first three weeks. Like we already know that as far
- 42:43Speaker 5: as the game time, but I'm talking about you could
- 42:45Speaker 5: be on college game day right twice in the first
- 42:48Speaker 5: month of the season.
- 42:50Speaker 4: You were going to have the ability to go out.
- 42:53Speaker 5: There and bring that real juice back to your program,
- 42:57Speaker 5: the one that we all know was there for a
- 42:59Speaker 5: very very long time time, and over the last couple
- 43:01Speaker 5: of years it's just gone away because you haven't done
- 43:03Speaker 5: what you were supposed to do. You haven't won games
- 43:06Speaker 5: the clip that LSU football wins them. You got a chance, right,
- 43:10Speaker 5: you want to make LSU cool again. Go out there
- 43:13Speaker 5: on college game day, beat Clemson. Go on there on
- 43:17Speaker 5: college game day and beat Ole Miss and you'll be
- 43:19Speaker 5: right back there. So it's a lot of pressure, right,
- 43:23Speaker 5: But anything worth anything has it.
- 43:26Speaker 4: If it was easy, it wouldn't be worth it. Here's
- 43:29Speaker 4: your chance, here's your opportunity. What are you going to
- 43:32Speaker 4: do with it.
- 43:33Speaker 6: I don't think Lane's doing himself any favors in terms
- 43:36Speaker 6: of like the pressure that's on him because you're out
- 43:40Speaker 6: here doing vanity fair articles, you're trolling Ole Miss, which
- 43:44Speaker 6: I personally love the trolling. You're trolling Ole Miss at
- 43:47Speaker 6: every second that you can possibly troll them. Like another
- 43:51Speaker 6: quote came out yesterday and it's just he's like, maybe
- 43:54Speaker 6: if I was there, they would have went further, Like like,
- 43:58Speaker 6: that was obviously not my choice to in the way
- 44:01Speaker 6: that it ended.
- 44:02Speaker 3: That was Keith's choice.
- 44:03Speaker 6: And maybe if I was there and I was coaching
- 44:05Speaker 6: in the playoffs, they would have went further. That's not verbatim,
- 44:07Speaker 6: but it was basically what he said. So Lane not
- 44:10Speaker 6: doing himself any favors in terms of like the pressure
- 44:13Speaker 6: that's on him.
- 44:14Speaker 4: But that's part of what the experience.
- 44:18Speaker 3: Yeah, like this is just who he is.
- 44:20Speaker 6: But I do I know Matt feels this way where
- 44:23Speaker 6: it's like, Okay, maybe win a game first and then
- 44:25Speaker 6: we can start with the trolling and.
- 44:27Speaker 5: The Yeah, Matt, Matt has definitely a more of a
- 44:32Speaker 5: slow down approach.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I think him and I are on the same
- 44:35Speaker 3: page with that.
- 44:37Speaker 5: But that's just Look, that's that's part of what you're getting.
- 44:39Speaker 5: That is the experience. And and they ain't gonna stop.
- 44:44Speaker 5: It is only going to continue, just like we're gonna
- 44:46Speaker 5: continue on now.
- 44:46Speaker 1: No.
- 44:47Speaker 4: Two coming up.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Next off the bench.
