- 39:15Speaker 2: Chma.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I think I will like number two. I just finished
- 39:22Speaker 1: seeing it. Because those who don't know it just came
- 39:24Speaker 1: out on Netflix two days ago and actually happened to
- 39:28Speaker 1: know and privileged to be a good friend of Lokistar,
- 39:32Speaker 1: who is the director of the Sitar's Brother and he's
- 39:36Speaker 1: also a producer on the movie. And he's here right
- 39:39Speaker 1: now and got to spend some time with him, has
- 39:41Speaker 1: some chi with him. So happy for him. He's such
- 39:44Speaker 1: a great guy. Congratulations to him and his family. They
- 39:48Speaker 1: really deserve it.
- 39:49Speaker 10: Yeah, what an incredible accomplishment and just an incredible success.
- 39:54Speaker 2: As I've been talking about here all week long.
- 39:57Speaker 10: And you know, Richma, as we were talking about here,
- 40:01Speaker 10: our community has been, you know, evolving so much, and
- 40:06Speaker 10: I always attribute a lot of the growth to people
- 40:09Speaker 10: like yourself that have really taken on the initiative of
- 40:12Speaker 10: getting involved in spaces that really need a lot more
- 40:15Speaker 10: help and a lot more in terms of resources. And
- 40:17Speaker 10: of course this is your second time doing this with
- 40:20Speaker 10: the LA Department Mental Health Department there as far as
- 40:24Speaker 10: working with them on a program called Together We Can.
- 40:26Speaker 10: And you know, you've got this big event going on
- 40:29Speaker 10: on the thirtieth of May, really dedicate towards raising awareness
- 40:34Speaker 10: and bringing more resources to this much needed space of
- 40:37Speaker 10: helping folks in our South Asian space with help with
- 40:41Speaker 10: the mental health issues that they may be facing.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Tell us about what you got going on and thank
- 40:46Speaker 2: you for doing this.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Oh, this is an absolute pleasure for me.
- 40:50Speaker 7: It is a labor of love.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I am very thankful that I work with the La
- 40:56Speaker 1: County Department of Mental Health, which is the largest department
- 41:00Speaker 1: of mental health in the country. Actually, and the idea
- 41:04Speaker 1: is May is Mental Health Month, and we would like
- 41:07Speaker 1: to have a dialogue and destigmatize the conversation around mental health. Unfortunately,
- 41:13Speaker 1: it is still a stigma in many communities, including ours.
- 41:17Speaker 1: So let's talk about it and together we can do this.
- 41:19Speaker 1: That's why it's called together we can so that we
- 41:22Speaker 1: can bridge gaps, generational gaps, and kids can feel comfortable
- 41:26Speaker 1: coming to their parents and asking those hard questions whether
- 41:30Speaker 1: they're feeling down or someone of their friends circles has
- 41:34Speaker 1: come and asked them, Hey, I'm not feeling good. I
- 41:38Speaker 1: maybe want to end it all. They don't know what
- 41:40Speaker 1: to do and there shouldn't be a stigma. So the
- 41:43Speaker 1: parents that can have resources, the children can have resources. Similarly,
- 41:48Speaker 1: mental health doesn't discriminate with age, socioeconomic status. It can
- 41:54Speaker 1: happen to anyone, so they should not feel like they're alone.
- 41:58Speaker 1: So this event is all about talking about mental health
- 42:01Speaker 1: and destigmatizing it. And also a very big initiative is PEI,
- 42:07Speaker 1: which is preventatives early intervention. What can we do before
- 42:11Speaker 1: things get not so well? And so things like you know,
- 42:16Speaker 1: going out there playing sports, music, dance, cultural activities, arts, crafts,
- 42:23Speaker 1: all these are great ways to engage yourself mentally and
- 42:28Speaker 1: hopefully have a well balanced mental health. And again, if
- 42:33Speaker 1: we can engage in these activities, and that's what it's
- 42:36Speaker 1: all about. All day long, we're going to have fun
- 42:39Speaker 1: activities including performances, music, dance. We want to invite everyone.
- 42:45Speaker 1: This is absolutely free. It's absolutely free to everyone we'd
- 42:50Speaker 1: like to get involved together.
- 42:52Speaker 15: We can.
- 42:54Speaker 10: Of course as your work with Pearl Entertainment and working
- 42:57Speaker 10: with the LA City and you know, putting a grant
- 43:01Speaker 10: to help South Asians out there and as part of
- 43:03Speaker 10: the Take initiative, the LA initiative. This event must have
- 43:09Speaker 10: taken so much in terms of really putting together the community,
- 43:14Speaker 10: and I'm sure everybody's really stepping up and helping tell
- 43:18Speaker 10: us about that effort and tell us about the entire
- 43:20Speaker 10: community there. And I know as part of rockas Avenue
- 43:23Speaker 10: Radio's month long effort right here around mental health awareness
- 43:27Speaker 10: and activate your listening program. This has been a thing
- 43:30Speaker 10: for us, but tell us about the community as a
- 43:33Speaker 10: whole and what they've done to get around really galvanizing
- 43:36Speaker 10: around this effort that you're pushing.
- 43:39Speaker 1: So one of the things I noticed, and I was
- 43:41Speaker 1: so happy to see over the years, how many resources
- 43:45Speaker 1: there actually are available to many of us from our community.
- 43:50Speaker 1: There's South Asian Networks and there's Sahara, there's SaHas. Also
- 43:54Speaker 1: there's different organizations for the Bangladeshi community, the Pakistani community.
- 44:00Speaker 1: This is open to everyone, but it's got to focus
- 44:03Speaker 1: on AAPI and AHE communities. And you know, there's also
- 44:07Speaker 1: LGBTQ plus aware organizations. So everyone is welcome to come
- 44:13Speaker 1: and have a booth here and give out the resources.
- 44:16Speaker 1: And it's so nice to see so many of these
- 44:19Speaker 1: organizations are coming forward and they do all do great work.
- 44:23Speaker 1: But hopefully this is one platformm where they can all
- 44:26Speaker 1: get together and show that we're united and we're taking action.
- 44:30Speaker 1: The initiative is take action, LA. Let's take actions and
- 44:34Speaker 1: be responsible for each other because we're all together in
- 44:38Speaker 1: this beautiful thing. Called life, and we all have to
- 44:42Speaker 1: have resources for those who may not be as fortunate
- 44:46Speaker 1: as we are and those who are underserved. So we're
- 44:49Speaker 1: working with the Senior Citizen Group. They're going to have
- 44:52Speaker 1: a fashion show. We're working with transportation companies to give
- 44:56Speaker 1: them transportation to count through and I want to use
- 45:00Speaker 1: this platform if you don't mind, rockis Avenue for If
- 45:04Speaker 1: anyone would like to get involved, please email us at
- 45:07Speaker 1: info at Pearlinc.
- 45:09Speaker 9: Dot co.
- 45:09Speaker 1: That's info at Pearl p E A R L Inc,
- 45:13Speaker 1: I n C dot co. And talking about all the volunteers,
- 45:17Speaker 1: your gorgeous, beautiful, talented wife is one of my main
- 45:20Speaker 1: supporters as you are, along with many other of my
- 45:24Speaker 1: friends who are coming from all walks of life, and
- 45:28Speaker 1: they're spending so much time, energy and effort to put
- 45:31Speaker 1: this together. So really I'm not alone. It's it's a
- 45:35Speaker 1: nice community based program organized by the community, open to everyone.
- 45:42Speaker 2: Love it, love it, make sure you show up.
- 45:44Speaker 10: It's happening here Pierce College in Woodland Hills in California,
- 45:48Speaker 10: right here in the LA area.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Head on over two thirty YEP Saturday take out.
- 45:54Speaker 10: Head on over to take Action LA dot com or Pearlinc.

- 57:22Speaker 10: And tomorrow, I'm looking forward to having the band Indo
- 57:26Speaker 10: Fusion on the air with me. Awesome cover band and
- 57:31Speaker 10: they've been releasing some original music as well, and I
- 57:34Speaker 10: can't wait to talk to them. They're just a great
- 57:37Speaker 10: duo to brothers, and I think the third member, Radika,
- 57:40Speaker 10: the female vocalist, will also be joining us as well,
- 57:42Speaker 10: so I'm really looking forward to us. If you know
- 57:44Speaker 10: anything about him Indo Fusion, check them out. I N
- 57:47Speaker 10: d O f U z O N and I'm looking
- 57:50Speaker 10: forward to having them on tomorrow. And folks, if you
- 57:53Speaker 10: watched raw and and Deka this past weekend. I want
- 57:56Speaker 10: you to do something with me. Think back to the
- 57:59Speaker 10: scenes hit you the hardest, the moments that your chest tightened,
- 58:03Speaker 10: the moments you stopped scrolling, pause, the conversation in the
- 58:06Speaker 10: room and you just watched. I bet you the music
- 58:09Speaker 10: was doing more work than the picture in those moments.
- 58:13Speaker 10: Aditya Dar shot seven hours of footage in the theatrical version,
- 58:18Speaker 10: he had three hours and twenty minutes to tell a story.
- 58:22Speaker 10: In the extended cut, he had more time, and the
- 58:26Speaker 10: part he spent that extra time on, the part that
- 58:29Speaker 10: made the cut feel different, wasn't more action. It was
- 58:32Speaker 10: more music, more breathing room for the score, more space
- 58:36Speaker 10: for a song to actually carry a scene from one
- 58:39Speaker 10: emotional state to another. The cut isn't longer, the cut
- 58:42Speaker 10: is fuller. And tomorrow on the show, we count down
- 58:45Speaker 10: the top fifteen songs from across the Duology and the
- 58:49Speaker 10: extended cut, the soundtrack the way Aditya Dar finally got
- 58:52Speaker 10: to release it, the way the music was meant to
- 58:55Speaker 10: be heard.
- 58:55Speaker 2: We'll have the voice of the Duology in the room.
- 58:58Speaker 10: If you've seen it this past weekend, great, And if
- 59:02Speaker 10: you have not, you are now unnoticed. You have twenty
- 59:06Speaker 10: three hours before I see you again. Make sure you've
- 59:09Speaker 10: seen both the films before that.
- 59:11Speaker 2: Have a great day.
- 59:12Speaker 40: Everybody, lay bug, that's just.
