- 2:06We're gonna spend some time talking to him, coming up a little bit
- 2:07later on. Also gentle by the name of Pete for Selly. He is
- 2:12an author and he's an expert on whistle blowing in the government. He's standing
- 2:15by. He's got a new book out and he's actually in Charleston to kind
- 2:19of promote that and to do some public speaking. We'll talk to him coming
- 2:22up a little bit later on. But I want to start off in the
- 2:23newsroom this morning. Chris Lawrence is here. Chris, Good morning morning.
- 2:28I want to start off with this couple just terrific stories yesterday. One started
- 2:32in Lewis County and then ended in Kanaw County. Yeah, it was a
- 2:37little bit after midnight on Monday morning. The volunteer fire department in Lewis kind
- 2:42of got a call at a remote location near Ireland, West Virginia, so
- 2:46remote they didn't even have cell service there. So when they got there there
- 2:50was a house on fire. They realized they had at least one victim that
- 2:54was killed in the fire, and as they got the end of the building,
- 2:58they realized they had multiple victim and now they have confirmed four people were
- 3:01killed in that fire, they were continuing their investigation, they found out a
- 3:07guy who lives in that area by the name of Luke Wilson, age forty
- 3:09five. He's from Walkersville, which is not far from that particular location,
- 3:15that he had family in Hughes's Creek here in Kanawak County. So about four
- 3:21point thirty in the morning, they asked the Kanawk County Sheriff's Department to go
- 3:24there just on a hunch and see if perhaps he had gone to his family's
- 3:30location there. According to Chief Deputy Joe Crawford, when deputies rolled up on
- 3:35the scene there at Hughes's Creek, this Wilson was in the vehicle that they
- 3:39were looking for, and as they got out and approached the vehicle, he
- 3:42shot himself and killed himself there in the car. So you have four dead
- 3:46up there in Lewis County and then the man who took his own life here
- 3:49in Kanawhac County. Both incidents are apparently tied to one another. The fire
- 3:53is suspicious. They continue their investigation and are yet to release any names or
- 3:58ages on the victims in that fire in Lewis County, so that continues to
- 4:01be under investigation with the State Fire Marshal's Office this morning. And then the
- 4:05other tragic story happened yesterday on the Turnpike ride two o'clock yesterday afternoon. Yeah,
- 4:10that was at the gent toll Plaza, which is down in Raleigh County
- 4:15northbound traffic. A car was coming up through there, and you know it
- 4:17is when you get those toll plazas, I mean that things start to back
- 4:20up and everybody's trying to figure out which lane you're going to get in to
- 4:24get through the quickest. Apparently this car did not even slow down. There
- 4:27were two cars stopped in the right lane of the toll plaza to pay their
- 4:31toll, and that car is full speed, barreled right into both of them.
- 4:34The whole thing exploded and three people were killed in the ensuing fire from
- 4:39that accident, and it blocked traffic on the Turnpike northbound for hours yesterday afternoon.
- 4:45Of course, it's reopened this morning, but three people killed in that.
- 4:46They have not released the names in that either. The State Police Accident
- 4:50Reconstruction Team has put together their investigation and they continue to work on that this
- 4:55morning. Still no names on that on those fatalities either. This morning.
- 5:00All right, Chris, we'll be listening and following along on the website and
- 5:02on the air. I appreciate you taking time to be here. Man.

- 5:28time talking about whistleblowers. Now, you hear about them all the time in
- 5:31the corporate world, but maybe not as much, maybe not as much as
- 5:34we should in the world of politics and government, but it does happen.
- 5:40Pete for Selly was one of the main whistleblowers with Operation Fast and Furious,
- 5:44and he's in Charleston. He's in our studio today. Also has a new
- 5:47book coming out. We'll get into that Peak, Good morning, and welcome
- 5:49to the show. Good morning, Dave, honor to be here. Thank
- 5:51you for taking time out of your schedule to be here. First of all,
- 5:56let's review what was Operation Fast and Furious. Fast and Furious was a
- 6:00case that was run out of ATF's Phoenix Field Division, and it was a
- 6:03case in which the agents that were work in the investigation allowed guns to cross
- 6:08the border into Mexico and many Mexican citizens were killed. And then in December
- 6:13of twenty ten, a Border Patrol agent named Brian Terry was killed with a
- 6:16gun that was trafficked as part of that investigation, and that led to John
- 6:21Dodson, who was an agent at group, coming forward and speaking to Center
- 6:26Grassley's office, and then that led to the US Attorney's Office in Phoenix contemplating
- 6:30indicting John Dodson. So I stepped forward because for many years before that we
- 6:33were trying to get actual firearms traffickers indicted by the US Attorney's Office and they
- 6:38wouldn't take action. And I was somewhat to palled that, Hey, all
- 6:41of these firearms traffickers you let walk. Now you're talking about in diting a
- 6:44federal agent who stepped up and did the right thing and blew the whistle on
- 6:46something in his group. It was appalling to me. What was it that
- 6:51led you to make that leap to do that. You said that you'd wanted
- 6:55to do it for some time, but what was it that finally said,
- 6:58okay, we've got to step up. Well, the gun dealers in Phoenix
- 7:00were cooperative. They worked with us. They would tell us about suspicious purchases
- 7:03happening that they knew were being trafficked to Mexico. We would invariably stop the
- 7:06cars, get confessions, refer those individuals for prosecution because they were supplying guns
- 7:12to people who were butchering other humans south of the border, and we would
- 7:15invariably be told, hey, let them go, we'll indict it later,
- 7:17and those indictments would rarely ever come. So when they were talking about indicting
- 7:21an agent for stepping forward and blowing the whistle on what was happening in the
- 7:26group that was letting guns actually walk to the border, because we stopped guns
- 7:29with the assistance of those dealers, but no one was getting charged. So
- 7:32here, conversely, this group was letting any guns walk into Mexico, and
- 7:36the thought that they were an agent. While they gave all of those fire
- 7:40arms traffickers a pass was to me a bridge too far. Give me.
- 7:44Give the listeners some of your background and as far as like your background and
- 7:48how you got involved in all this. Sure, I started as a cop
- 7:51in New York. I walked to beat you know, the old school way
- 7:54got tone, the community built their trust. Became a detective. Same thing
- 7:57that trust you built with the community helped cares. The Bronx criminal justice system
- 8:01was pretty bad. Nobody spent time in jail. My last murder case was
- 8:05a four year old kid. They got beat to death by his stepfather and
- 8:09after trial he was sentenced to four years in prison. So I started working
- 8:13gun cases to flip defendants and have them proffer and go after people involved in
- 8:18more serious crime. So we did racketeering cases, continuing criminal enterprise cases.
- 8:24So I left being a detective in the NYPT to join ATF because you know,
- 8:28I was doing it with the permission of the NYPD. Going to ATF,
- 8:31i'd be a federal agent. I could do all the time. So
- 8:33I was an agent in New York for about six years, went out to
- 8:35Phoenix and that's where I saw things were vastly different than they were in New
- 8:39York. How so, how were they different out there? Well, in
- 8:41New York, the prosecutors actually prosecuted criminals, violent criminals. And in Phoenix,
- 8:46what I saw was they weren't prosecuting people who were again traffic at guns
- 8:50to people who were butchering other humans, which was appalling because look, hey,
- 8:52I get it, it's not our country. But what was happening in
- 8:56Mexico bothered me because I'd see the pictures that came across an intelligence bullet and
- 9:00the human beings. It wasn't just cartel people being killed. It was Mexican
- 9:03cops, Mexican citizens. So when I found out that they were letting guns
- 9:07walk into the country, and again we didn't know in other groups in Phoenix
- 9:11what was happening in that group until Brian Terry died. It was appalling.
- 9:15It went against the grain of everything. I raised my hand and took an
- 9:18oath to do so again when they went after John's that's when I stepped up
- 9:22so and then after Phoenix, I spent time in various other parts of the
- 9:24country. Was the agent in charge of the Miami Field Division during the Parkland
- 9:28shooting and the Fort Lord of DLA Airport mass shooting. So I had a
- 9:31good thirty five year career with a bump in the road in the five years
- 9:35that I spent in Phoenix because they have to blow in the whistle. I
- 9:37spent four years, you know, being retaliated against and having to defend my
- 9:41reputation while under investigation by DOJ attorneys and you know, Inspector General and whatnot.
- 9:48But in the end, I prevailed because the truth is the truth.
- 9:50It's a powerful weapon. I want to talk about that retaliation, Pete,
- 9:54exactly what happened to you? Well, because in reading about this you almost
- 9:58lost everything? Yes, correct, talk about that retaliation, sure, Well
- 10:03it started actually the day I was deposed by in front of Congress, in
- 10:05front of the staffers from Senator Grassley's office, Senator Leahy, Daryl Aisa,
- 10:11who was the ranking member of the Oversight Committee, and Elijah Cummings. So
- 10:18what happened was literally as before I walked out of that deposition room and made
- 10:22it back to my office, which was a six block walk, I received
- 10:26information that the US Attorney, who was the chief federal law enforcement officer in
- 10:31the state of Arizona and who primarily his officers who I was blowing the Whistlan
- 10:35was made aware of everything I said, so before I walked six blocks,
- 10:37they had gotten a phone call and were told everything I said in that room.
- 10:41The following day, I got a call from another assistant US Attorney who
- 10:45showed me an email that was sent out by the US Attorney saying, anyone
- 10:48having contact with Pete for Selly, even if it's witnessing him and his family
- 10:52having coffee on the weekend, it's to be reported to me through your chain
- 10:54of command immediately. And it just got worse when I actually testified in front
- 10:58of the actual com made. The chief of the Criminal Division accused me of
- 11:03perjury, and then when he was subpoena to commit and testify about what he
- 11:07was involved in, he pled the fifth and resigned. So it was to
- 11:09shay how much integrity he had. So when they just continued for there,
- 11:11it spent four years under investigation. Became the US Attorney's officers was saying one
- 11:16thing which was in conflict with what I was saying. So six different times
- 11:20during that investigation, I said, Hey, if you don't believe me,
- 11:22polygraph me and each time they were like, well that's not really necessary.
- 11:26We believe you. But yet their investigation continued. But in the end and
- 11:30you're over here like yeah, no, no, do this correct. Polygraph
- 11:33me correct, which is risky to do because I mean, polygraph isn't the
- 11:35most accurate tool, and if you sail one, they're going to revoke your
- 11:37clearance. But look, I was very blessed because I had some support from
- 11:41within the agency, and I had some support from staffers from Senator Grassley's office
- 11:46because look, his passion is whistleblowing. And you know, look, all
- 11:50four corners, all four staffs said hey, when they come after you,
- 11:54if they come after you, call us. Lahy's office wouldn't answer the phone
- 11:58coming had some nice things to say, but didn't engage isis. People said,
- 12:03hey, we're tracking it. But Senator Grassley staff, without fail,
- 12:05every time I needed help, they were there. And that's one of the
- 12:09reasons why I'm here in town is because Tristan Levitt, who was one of
- 12:11Senator Grassley's staffers, who's running for office here locally, was one of those
- 12:16people who had my back when I was getting my teeth kicked in. So
- 12:18I kept my word, but it's important for folks. You know, he
- 12:22kept his word, and I think that's partially why I still had a job.
- 12:26I retired in October of twenty twenty one. I retired as the head
- 12:28of training for ATF. So I made it, you know, my career.
- 12:31I recovered my career, but it was due to help of other people
- 12:35and not being willing to let people take my reputation from me. We have
- 12:39a text here and it says, does the guests know that US guns are
- 12:43still going to Mexican or Mexico US as well as other criminal organizations? And
- 12:46this is still a concern. It is, and it's ironic because the Phoenix
- 12:50US Attorney's Office, I'm told, because I still stay in touch with folks,
- 12:54is still the worst US Attorney's office in the country when it comes to
- 12:56dealing with the problem. Look for the Cineloa Cartel, Arizona was its gun
- 13:01store. I mean, look, they also get guns from stolen from Mexican
- 13:05police, from Mexican military, from all over the planet. Frankly, because
- 13:07I mean the Cineloa Cartel is now a global conglomerate. We have an analyst
- 13:11budget, but a lot of the gun a lot of the guns are straw
- 13:15purchased in the United States, primarily Arizona for the Cineloans. They're smuggled in
- 13:18and then they're converted in many instances to machine guns down there and used against
- 13:22Mexican military and police. So it's Peter's book. Plug time. Now you
- 13:28have all this laid out in new book from Simon and Schuster, a Knox
- 13:31Press called The Deadly Path. Tell us about the book, sure, the
- 13:33book is called The Deadly Path. How Operation Fast and Furious and Bad Lawyers
- 13:37on Mexican Cartels is the subtitle, and it outlines what happened because during the
- 13:41scandal there was a lot of political finger pointing the Operation Fast and Furious started
- 13:46and under the Obama administration. But to muddy the waters, there was people
- 13:50saying, well, it actually started under George Bush and blah blah blah.
- 13:54The reality is is that's not what happened. The group that ran that case
- 13:58wasn't even formed until October of two thousand and nine, which at the federal
- 14:03fiscal years October to October, and Brian Terry was killed shortly after, and
- 14:09then Fast and Furious ended. The program itself ended when the scandal hit and
- 14:13when they made some arrests. So I mean, I just wanted to clarify
- 14:18some of the points that were very muddy back then, because look, there
- 14:22were agents in other parts of the United States who had no idea what was
- 14:24going on, and they would approach us and say, hey, you know
- 14:26what happened. So we even proposed let's have an after action report like they
- 14:30do in the military so people could learn from it, and the DOJ lawyers
- 14:33were always like, no, no, we don't talk about it. So
- 14:35I'm a firm believer that if you don't know history, you're abound to repeat
- 14:39it. So I wanted to set the record straight for the American public,
- 14:43but also for employees of ATF and for new people coming on board with ATF,
- 14:46which has a noble mission when it's done right, just to clarify the
- 14:50record. And you were in Charleston at a speaking engagement, you had one
- 14:54I think last night, Is that right? Yes, sir? Okay,
- 14:56all right? So what's life like for you now, Pete? I mean,
- 15:00you got the book and you're out plugging the book, you're doing speaking
- 15:01engage, So what's what's life like for Pete? For selling now? It's
- 15:05good. I did write the book, it's been it took a while to
- 15:07get it out, you know. I mean, I'd never realize. I'm
- 15:09not a writer by trade, so I can realize how difficult the publishing industry
- 15:13is. But I also speak at the nine to eleven Memorial Museum about resilience.
- 15:18I'm a lung cancer survivor. I was a nine to eleven first responder
- 15:20while they're getting lung cancer. Many years later, lost the right lung.
- 15:24Very lucky, no chemo, no radiation, cancer free for six years.
- 15:26Now. I speak to law enforcement executives and as a coach, and I
- 15:31also speak to law enforcement organizations about leadership and resilience. And it's funny because
- 15:35a lot of folks actually find leadership lessons in the what I went through with
- 15:39Fast and Furious, and even in the book itself. So I'm hoping that'll
- 15:43turn into something productive, so that I can you know, have folks learned
- 15:46from the mistakes that were made by ATF folks working in Phoenix at that time?
- 15:50Again, you know, just so that folks don't repeat, right,
- 15:52Well, then we have actually have a text about that. Someone said,
- 15:56how can you prevent the straw purchases. Well, look purchases what a lot
- 16:00of people don't. A lot of people want to blame the gun industry.
- 16:03The gun industry. The dealers used to call us when straw purchases were happening
- 16:07that were obvious. The problem is straw purchasing is an active deception where people
- 16:11who can lawfully buy a firearm, who can pass a background check, go
- 16:15in and buy a firearm for somebody else. And Arizona, more often than
- 16:18not it was for cartel people who were trafficking to cartels. But I mean
- 16:22the dealers were trained by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and ATF and what to
- 16:26look for. But the problem is if those if they don't exhibit those signs,
- 16:30like taking pictures of the firearms and then texting them to someone who might
- 16:33be waiting in a parking lot, or having someone come in and point out
- 16:36guns and then that person would leave, and then this person would say that
- 16:37they were for them when it was clear that someone else picked out the guns.
- 16:41You know, in those instances, the dealers would call us. We
- 16:44would stop the cars, ask probative questions, seize the guns. And in
- 16:48Arizona very few people went to prison for doing it, but we would have
- 16:52those guns in our custody. It would never be pointed at some cop or
- 16:55some kid or some old lady. I mean, so we took some pride
- 16:57in that. But there are instances is where if the straw purchaser doesn't exhibit
- 17:02any signs, the dealers they don't have esp they can't tell. So in
- 17:06those instances, we find out about it when the gun is recovered somewhere.
- 17:08And how you prevent it is by prosecuting the people that do it. When
- 17:12you have situations like what we had in Arizona where ninety plus percent of our
- 17:17cases are presented to US Attorney's office and they pass, then that person can
- 17:22continue to buy guns because they don't have a criminal history. So I get
- 17:26it. It's unfortunate because most straw purchasers are people who are down on their
- 17:29luck. You know, single moms, people who are sick, people who
- 17:30need money. But you know the end result, Yeah, they might only
- 17:33get one hundred dollars to buy a gun that they're handed off to some cartel
- 17:37guy. But the carnage that's happening in Mexico, and look, some of
- 17:41these guns are being used in the United States warrants that they be prosecuted.
- 17:45And here's the other thing. These aren't loaves of bread. They're not apples,
- 17:48they're not oranges. They don't buo the grade, they don't rot.
- 17:52They'll stay out there in the hands of evil people until they're recovered at a
- 17:56crime scene. And they look, the Fast and Furious guns are still turning
- 17:59up next to the day bodies. It's amazing. Give us final thirty seconds.
- 18:03Give me the title of the book, and so on and so forth.
- 18:07It's out from Cyber and Schuster and Knox Press. It's called it's called
- 18:10The Deadly Path. Yeah, how Operation Fast and Furious and Bad Lawyers Armed
- 18:14the Mexican Cartels. It's on Amazon, It's on stores and bookshelves. People
- 18:18can find it very easily. Know all right, Pete, I fascinating story,

- 23:22Welcome to the show. Thanks Dave, Greg glad to be here, give
- 23:26us a bio, And John Leone, you certainly are no stranger to the
- 23:30political scene here in the valley, But tell us about John Looney. Well,
- 23:33John Lavoney, I'm an engineer. I worked at DuPont In Carbide for
- 23:38many years. The last seventeen years I worked. I was a county engineer
- 23:42for the Kanawah County Commission, and I just have an interest in mad One
- 23:52of the reasons I decided to run for magistrate is that I feel like I
- 23:55have a lot of the qualifications that make for an excellent magistrate, and with
- 24:00the three new positions that Kenall County is adding, I thought I'd throw my
- 24:04hat in the ring and give it a shot. What do you see as
- 24:08the biggest needs of the magistrate's office here, and what will you do differently
- 24:14if I like then, Well, one of the things that I plan to
- 24:18do is I want to use common sense. I think that that's an important
- 24:23characteristic of a magistrate. I have a high level of respect for law and
- 24:27order. I've been endorsed by the Capital City paternal or Police, which I
- 24:34think is very honored to receive that endorsement. One of the reasons I think
- 24:41I'm qualified is I've actually helped develop several county ordinances. Particularly one that I
- 24:48worked a lot on was the meth lab Decontamination Ordinance to make sure that the
- 24:55levels of contaminants following a cleanup are low enough so that people can't be exposed
- 25:02to toxic or carcinogenic materials that are left in the pores of the walls or
- 25:08ceilings or floors. I think that gives me an up. I've been in
- 25:14magistrate court defending some of the county ordinances where I had to give testimony,
- 25:21show lab results, photo evidence, etc. So I've had experience in that
- 25:26arena and I feel like I have a lot of the qualifications that people need
- 25:30look for. And one of the things that magistrate You're an important link in
- 25:37the public safety and justice system, and I think it's important that people have
- 25:41confidence that when they come before a magistrate that they're going to be listened to.
- 25:48And one of the I think I also have the skill in being able
- 25:52to determine truth from fiction. A lot of times you'll get testimony and you
- 25:57have to sort it out. I think I have the skills to be able
- 26:02to do that. And it's a non part of some position. But can
- 26:03I ask you what your political party is? Yes, I'm a Republican.
- 26:07Republican, okay, And you know, John, I talk about this with
- 26:10nearly every candidate I have on that's running for an office like a magistrate or
- 26:12a judge or share for whatever. The overwhelming majority of crimes, most would
- 26:18say upwards of ninety percent or greater have drugs somewhere at the root of it.
- 26:23Whether it's stolen property, domestic violence, assault, shootings, you name
- 26:26it. No one knows how to fix it. But what will you do
- 26:30or attempt to do if elected? Well, one of the things I want
- 26:32to do is make sure that criminals, if they come before me, they're
- 26:37not given a low enough bond that they can easily make it. I was
- 26:40told by one of the police chiefs that there was a case where a gentleman
- 26:48was fishing without a license and because he didn't make bail, he ended up
- 26:53in prison for six or seven weeks. Whereas we've got drug dealers, they
- 27:00can make bail, they're back out. Some violent criminals can make bail,
- 27:06they're back out on the streets. And we have this person that was fishing
- 27:10without a license occupying a jail cell. That's the kind of thing that I
- 27:15think we need to relook at, and let's make sure that the criminals who
- 27:19are the biggest, the biggest threat to public safety are kept away from the
- 27:25general public. And I think that's something as a magistrate that I'm committed to
- 27:30do to help protect the public and make sure we don't did I do my
- 27:37part as a key component of the public safety system to keep those people that
- 27:42are a threat to society out of the public when they're brought before my court.
- 27:48Make sure they don't come back out. They're not. It's not they
- 27:52don't have an easy path to get back out into society. Which campaign strategy
- 27:56look like you in social media? I know you're definitely out of about I
- 28:00see your pictures all the time. You're always You're always out somewhere in the
- 28:03public. What's your campaign strategy for John LOONI going to public events, meeting,
- 28:07meeting people. I try to like I'm going to the Marshall w VU
- 28:14baseball game tonight and cheering for the herd like you should. I'm kidding John
- 28:18Well for both go teams, go both. Yeah, yeah, I would
- 28:22have. I'm cheer I'm just messing with you, John, Go teams,
- 28:26go teams, Yes, go both teams. But that sort of thing is
- 28:30so that's that's what you're out doing, right right. No meeting people.
- 28:33I went to symphony Saturday night, went to a mountain stage Sunday night.
- 28:37So I'm out and about going to different events and meeting people. I think
- 28:42that's one of the best ways to get your message out. I have a
- 28:45Facebook page. John Looney for Magistrate. I think you've probably seen him so
- 28:52and that's those are the things that I'm doing. Give me the final thirty
- 28:56watching some of ute for John Looney for Magistrate, all right. I think
- 29:00I have a lot of qualities that voters need to look for in a good
- 29:04magistrate. I have common sense, I'm a good listener. I can judge
- 29:08testimony in my opinion about whether it's truth or fiction. I have a high
- 29:14level of respect for law and order. As I mentioned, I was endorsed
- 29:18by the Capital City Paternal Or Police. I'm somebody that has developed some of
- 29:22the ordinances, such as the meth Lab Decontamination Ordinance, that is there to
- 29:29help protect the public. And I think they want somebody in there that they
- 29:33have confidence in, that can do the job and understands their role is a
- 29:42public safety and justice system and to protect the public, as I say,
- 29:48from violent criminals and drug dealers, etc. John Maloney, candidate for Magistrate
- 29:52in Gandana County. John, always wish you the best. Look great to

- 34:45on the show at some point. I used the World Championship Wrestling theme,
- 34:50and I use you've used a bunch and she used like the retro version min
- 34:52I expressed this theme at some point. I do. And I also use
- 34:55the theme to Starcade, which is far from over from Stank Frank stalone,

- 35:31the sixty eight. All right, I want to talk about the session the
- 35:35legilatives this past legislative session. Would you think bad mojo bad or over everybody?
- 35:40The two bodies don't get along very well at all some of What's more,
- 35:44the two bodies, do you mean both? Yeah? The house?
- 35:47You don't mean parties anymore? No, no, no, because and I've
- 35:52said this some people, insiders saying this all the time. And this may
- 35:53offend some, but it was easier to run both bodies, and both bodies
- 35:58are way more effective when the Martians with thinner when the House was fifty five
- 36:01forty five, when the Senate was eighteen sixty really one time when Daniel Hall
- 36:05had to flip and all that. If everybody has to be on the same
- 36:07page, your stuff doesn't pass. Everybody six together. The wolf pack stays
- 36:12together. When you have a bunch of people and they can go wild and
- 36:15you have nine or ten votes, you don't need those people start stretching and
- 36:17start asking for things, and it becomes a real issue in terms of managing
- 36:22the body. I don't know what people want with the legislation. Should be
- 36:24more aggressive, less aggressive, whatever, but it's harder to manage a bigger
- 36:29pack. Let's talk about the Republican Party and the super majority and the super
- 36:36duper majority. Now I understand there's this super duper duper majority. Well,
- 36:38I mean when we're done in November, it's going to be thirty two to
- 36:42two and ninety three seven. Maybe that's my guess. We're gonna put them
- 36:45on the chalkboarding here wherever. Okay, But I mean, is this cost
- 36:50for concern within the Republican Party that there seems to be such divisions within the
- 36:53party. Yeah, I think so. I think. I think in terms
- 36:59of managing the state. You know what, as I always tell you on
- 37:00this show, it's easy to run for stuff. It's fun to run for
- 37:05stuff and sake oppositions. The business is actually going to that capital and governing
- 37:08and doing a good job for people who aren't political is hard. And get
- 37:12what governing is. It's not sexy and it's not fun, and it's hard
- 37:15to do well, and nobody respects him you to do it well because you're
- 37:17either not far enough right or not far enough left. I agreed. Dave
- 37:22Allen Shilling five. Ay, the line broad to part by Morgan to Morgan
- 37:23if you're injured hired Morgan to Morgan in America's largest injury law firm rob ib
- 37:28was sold yesterday by a friend that I they've should be happy with the session
- 37:31because a lot of the more social issues didn't get touched. I've been called
- 37:36a country club Republican or a chamber of that. I They've should be happy
- 37:40with the session because a lot of the more social issues didn't get touched.
- 37:44I've been called a country club Republican or a chamber of commerce Republican. I
- 37:49will own those. Well, that's fine because they're interests in business and economy
- 37:52at heart. The voter, the more middle of the road voter that I'm
- 37:57prime primary voter, their number one issue is still going to be a job,
- 38:00economy, unemployment. But a primary voter who is at the very further
- 38:04right or further left string of their party in this primary is going to go
- 38:07toward more specific, harder right things. And the problem is you have to
- 38:12please them first, and if you don't, then everyone in your party is
- 38:15going to say you're not You're not far enough right or far enough left,
- 38:17period, even the Dems. You even see that this split the Dems among
- 38:21people who are not left enough for them. Kayleeng is a great example.
- 38:27You know, people people call her and tell her all the time she's she's
- 38:29not left enough. I mean, you're down to like six people or something
- 38:31over there. Better figure it out. I've heard that people say Pushkin's not
- 38:36left enough. Well, I've had people to this show that have texted me
- 38:38and said, Mike Pushkin is not far left. And the thing is they
- 38:42are the loudest voices because they text, they call right, and it works
- 38:46both ways. So you were dragged by what you think public opinion is when
- 38:50public opinion is probably closer to the middle. Rob Cornelius is here. So
- 38:55Rob, I've gone back and forth in my head on how much or how
- 39:00little I wanted to cover this story, a story I first brought up last
- 39:01week. You did, and that was courageous. I wasn't expecting you to
- 39:05pop out at the end of the show that night. I get a little
- 39:07drink of courage every now, not a drink. It wasn't a drink I
- 39:10promised. So last Tuesday night of last week, my phone started blowing up
- 39:15with a fake news site YEP, supposedly out of Pittsburgh, made to look
- 39:22like an actual newspaper, at least an online one, which it obviously wasn't
- 39:27anyone with half a brain, and trust me, I've been accused of half
- 39:30a brain many many times. Anyone could tell it was fake. Whomever put
- 39:35it together probably should have gotten in middle school or to help him with it
- 39:37because it was that bad. However, it had to do with a candidate
- 39:40for governor, and the headline was something like he could be West Virginia's first
- 39:46gay governor. Now, as I said, my phone started to blow up
- 39:51late Tuesday night in the early Wednesday morning, and I know I did bring
- 39:55it up on the show Wednesday. I think it was of last week.
- 40:00There's a lot I don't want to get into this too deeply, but I
- 40:01do want to get your take on it, because there's a lot of finger
- 40:04pointing as to who is responsible for this. Now. I know that on
- 40:08Twitter there is a guy who've I've had my issues with in the pastor's guy
- 40:14named Kyle Vass, who is closely associated with Yaclu. I don't know Kyle
- 40:17personally. He and I have battled a couple of times on Twitter. Don't
- 40:21know him personally, but he's really uncovered a lot with this story, and
- 40:25at the risk of getting both of us sued, I'm not going to go
- 40:29too deeply into it. But overall, and I'll say this, I tend
- 40:32to want to concentrate on subjects that come from legitimate news sources. Yes,
- 40:36not fake news sites. But over all, your view from ten thousand feet
- 40:42of this story, it was a hanmdhanded attempt to tarnish or shame or otherwise
- 40:47hurt one of the candidates for governor in a very sloppy way website that had
- 40:52been created like a week before. And the stuff this is this guy in
- 40:54therenet found the background. Amy's all pretty easily available, and looking who has
- 40:59servers and what and figure out who bought a website, when they bought it,
- 41:01whatever, all these things that happen. Look here here's the issue.
- 41:07It's it's been it's been tied to Some folks are extremely hard right. This
- 41:10was clearly written attempt to avoid being sued, but to the like kind of
- 41:14just put something in the air, Oh, this person might be you know
- 41:16whatever. But but on the on the flip side, you know, it's
- 41:21it's possibly tied to one or more of the other candidates. And that's that
- 41:27doesn't make sense. And I put it this way, this is afore a
- 41:30four way governor's race and the Republican side effectively, even if you're such a
- 41:34genius and you get this message out there and you tar and feather one of
- 41:37these other candidates with some unfounded or unprovable claim, you don't know where their
- 41:42votes are going to go. So tactically this is very, very stupid,
- 41:45And the question is what what do you expect to happen other than just basically
- 41:49being the guy at the party that goes to the room where the coats are
- 41:52and poops on the bed or what are poops on the coats? Like?
- 41:53Just ruins it for everybody you know that that that that that is all this
- 41:57is, and it's not going to go anywhere. And the campaign to which
- 42:00you know that reporter is saying it's tied is the one that's very month much
- 42:04in fourth place with the bullets and isn't going anywhere. I have I've heard
- 42:07again. And to dance around this thing like you wouldn't believe. How about
- 42:13we just say every candidate in the race is accused of being gay. You
- 42:17are all gay, that's it, We're all just qualified. Ah, a
- 42:22great job, guys. According to the Republican Party, that's probably what they
- 42:24would want or at least a lot of members of the Republican Party, of
- 42:28which, by the way, I'm stilly member of the Republican Well. I
- 42:30mean, I mean, check with Peter Field, check with some of the
- 42:31guys from Trump administration. Look, gay people vote, and some gay people
- 42:36just want jobs and economy and to be left alone. And I don't think
- 42:38anybody has a whole lot of beef with that. I couldn't care less who
- 42:42sleeps with who, To be honest with you, I mean, and I
- 42:44mean, that's just me, It's not it ain't my fight. I don't
- 42:45care you know, I'm I go home to my wife. You go home
- 42:50to your wife. I couldn't care less. My wife is terrifying, by
- 42:52the way, but in a good way. I know your wife. She's
- 42:53been on this show. She does a great job. She's awesome. You
- 42:57definitely overachieved, you know that by far outkicked at five hundred yard drive whatever
- 43:01as did. I did not very completely understanding. I do find it ironic
- 43:06though that And you can't damn the whole party, you know, for this
- 43:09over what a couple of people may or may not have done. But I
- 43:13will say this, you said clowns. I will say this. I find
- 43:17it very interesting though that the party of which I'm a member that screams fake
- 43:22news, fake news, fake news, goes out and invents a fake news
- 43:27site. Well again, party that's you know whatever. However, many hundred
- 43:30thousand people there o site. You can't blame everyone for you that, right,
- 43:34I said that. I said that, Yeah, no, and again
- 43:37it's fake. These people should be smart, people should be able to discern
- 43:38these things. Was clearly an attempt to do that. And the problem is
- 43:43it's people. It's coming to people that are desperate, frantic and lying in
- 43:45terms of this campaign, that don't have any shot. And this is you
- 43:50know, this is Christopher Plumber and Star Trek three. This yell ain't you
- 43:52from you know, the Doorway to Hell or whatever? Right or done?
- 43:55I mean I got a couple of texts here Texas Dave. At least it
- 43:59was a right wing person or group that came up with the fake website.
- 44:01Democrats didn't do it. Fade in the roaring applause says that yeah, sure,
- 44:06people on both guides can make stupid, fake decisions and lie in public.
- 44:08Well, the funny thing is public figures are pretty much as we know
- 44:13from all don blank ship logging up to the federal you can pretty much say
- 44:15anything you want about a public figure. That's pretty much what those cases have
- 44:19set out there for you. So this is not necessarily a problem too.
- 44:22I'm pretty sure there's a circuit out west that's actually said that calling someone gay
- 44:25is not defamatory. It's actually pretty cool. So again, that's not necessarily
- 44:30a libel libelleist situation. Not an attorney, not legal advice tech says,
- 44:34the sad part is the website creators and the other people of their mind think
- 44:37that being gay is something to be ashamed of. That's your call personally,
- 44:42you can make that decision. That's between you and you and you and your
- 44:45pastor you and Jesus and you and whomever, allah whatever whoever. Tex says,
- 44:51division just means there's debate, which is always a good thing as long
- 44:53as they don't become too obsessive. I mean, that's that's his general.
- 44:57Part of this just just manners a lot of it, this this legislature,
- 45:00and that's kind of what people are dealing with is just be good to each
- 45:04other. Whatever Jerry Springers said, being disagreeing without being disagreeable. And there's
- 45:09a lot of that, a lot a lot of blood sport to no real
- 45:13great and you can much like this website, what exactly youre trying to accomplish,
- 45:15what exactly a you're going to explain to the effect what you're going to
- 45:19effectively do when that happens. Well, I mean, and I had as
- 45:22I said, and we'll go to break with this, Jeff. I've had
- 45:24people that sent me that, I mean, like probably ten fifteen different people.
- 45:29It was an order crowd. It's people that are that are food or
- 45:31otherwise drawing in by a website. Making a fake website about a candid is
- 45:35a very two thousand and seventh thing to do, and not a good one
- 45:37at that, pretty ghost, and not a good one at that. So
- 45:40not anyone, all right. But Dave Alan Chowing five eight Live is presented

- 48:23the one and only reason that candidate's sexuality is a factor is due to
- 48:28their history of supporting anti LGBTQ legislation. Two Faced Behavior says the text,
- 48:35I don't know what candidate they're talking about, so so there you go.
- 48:37How would I know? Let's go national for a moment. Please, It's
- 48:42Trump v. Biden, a matchup that a whole lot of Americans don't want,
- 48:46and it said that they don't want. But here we are. Your
- 48:51take you can't always get what you want is more and more more more popular
- 48:55lyric. Look, it's this is the choice you have. The choice is
- 48:59going to come down to, do you want a guy who appears to be
- 49:02mostly incompetent, under whom the country's economy is terrible, or someone who says
- 49:07some awesome things sometimes on Twitter. But you were able to afford gas and
- 49:12you'd never inflation, and you know, Iran wasn't a problem in Israel,
- 49:16wasn't getting invaded and raped and all these things, like things seem more stable
- 49:20everywhere but Twitter when Trump was president. Think about it, I mean,
- 49:24this is the best we can do. Rob I didn't say it was the
- 49:28best we could do. I would trend younger on both. But that's that's
- 49:31again, that's that's that's good. It's so interesting, and our primary is
- 49:35late and irrelevant. Anyway, no one's going to show up, And that's
- 49:37true, and it's all over, and one of these two is going to
- 49:39be it's gonna be the next president of the United States. But I just
- 49:44find it very interesting that they go after Biden, who I am not a
- 49:46fan of by the industrates of the imagination. They go after Biden on being
- 49:50frail and being weak, of which he is. Have you heard Trump speak
- 49:55lately? Have you seen Trump walk lately? As both walking is really good,
- 50:01it's not good. He can bear the whole band for both. They're
- 50:05both pathetic old men, Rob, damn it. We can do better.
- 50:07Well, yeah, but you know we're beyond that stage. And the voters
- 50:10want Trump, and I don't blame them because you know why they want Trump.
- 50:14The story is interesting. Voters want to be entertained more than anything.
- 50:19Whether they like him or they hate him, they're going to keep watching.
- 50:21I've said this to you before. That's seeing the Howard Stern movie. The
- 50:23voters who the people who like Stereern listen for an hour, people who hate
- 50:27sterern listen for three hours. That's true. That was the best blimb effect
- 50:29and that is exactly it. And Limbad was brilliant. He learn't monologue for
- 50:32three hours, no virtually, no callers, none of the stupid texting all
- 50:36you Hey, he's on the stupid text man, because I've got super text
- 50:38right now. No, they're not stupid, they're still kid I'm kidding,
- 50:42they're not stupid. Text said, did Cornelius really name drop a gay billionaire
- 50:45as proof that Republicans welcome lgbt Q. How about you name a regular person,
- 50:51says a Texter. I would rather you didn't if it's a good one
- 50:52to talk at. Yeah, probably not, But I mean, I mean,
- 50:55did you guys realize how many gay dudes you've elected from both parties to
- 51:00this state capital over the last twenty or thirty years. You didn't realize how
- 51:04many are there now? That too, they just don't talk about it.
- 51:07It's not very interesting, Honestly, Texas Republicans and Conservatives think being gay is
- 51:10something to be ashamed of, yet they run to vote for someone who's admitted
- 51:14to have non consensual relations and friendships with a sex trafficker. I think Republicans
- 51:19and conservatives need to have a talk with Jesus tex says Dave. Don't let
- 51:22him lie about the economy. Ask about unemployment, wage growth, stop market,
- 51:25et cetera. Our god is an awesome guy. On the stock market's
- 51:28propped up by a ton of inflation. Dave, fact check your guests.
- 51:31The economy is better today than it's been since the nineteen eighties. These are
- 51:35what you call it what I believe Rush returns seminar textures and you guys,
- 51:37you and Hoppy like sift through these all day like we. I don't think
- 51:40we have paid people on my side that do this. They're unpaid. There's
- 51:44plenty of volunteer, but like this is very much the paid texts that bore
- 51:47me. They're paid. My textures are paid. I'm assuming that, Yeah,
- 51:50well they paid by I don't know it. Soros. Soros. Blame
- 51:53George Soros, and so everything in the world of politics that goes bad,
- 51:58it's either Soros or it's a coke. You know, you can to talk
- 52:00about sure, sure text cornelis Republicans want Trump because he's a shiny object,
- 52:06and Republicans like shiny objects. Closed with well, that's what I just said,
- 52:08I mean pure We want to be entertained again. He's he's entertaining to
- 52:12people. People want to see what he does next, just like me.
- 52:15Sometimes, yes, why what are you gonna do? I don't know it'll
- 52:17be entertaining. Someone may poop on coats who knows well? Coming up on
- 52:21the show tomorrow, Doctor Casey Sachs from Bridge Valley who will not poop on
- 52:24coats. She shall be on the show tomorrow talking about Bridge Valley. Also,
- 52:29Greg Thomas will be on the show tomorrow duweling Banjos. I'm not having
- 52:32lunch with him today. We'll plan something. I would love to have you
