- 0:07Speaker 1: I love this man. I have no idea where he
- 0:09Speaker 1: is and what he's doing.
- 0:11Speaker 2: I do know that he's with us on behalf of
- 0:13Speaker 2: us AA's Memorial Day Poppy Wall of Honor, Robert Griffin
- 0:19Speaker 2: the third with us Heisman Trophy winner Robert. Before I
- 0:22Speaker 2: ask you what the hell you're doing and where the
- 0:24Speaker 2: hell you are police, tell us what you're doing.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Great work you're doing with us AA.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Yeah, guys, I want to say thank you guys for
- 0:32Speaker 3: having me on and really shine on the light on
- 0:35Speaker 3: this USA Poppy Wall of Honor for Memorial Day. You know,
- 0:39Speaker 3: as a military brat, that's what they call us, kids
- 0:42Speaker 3: of military members and service members. You know, Memorial Day
- 0:46Speaker 3: to a lot of people means long weekends, you know, barbecues,
- 0:51Speaker 3: pool parties. But the true meaning of Memorial Day is
- 0:55Speaker 3: to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our
- 0:58Speaker 3: country and the fact that the reason we get to
- 1:01Speaker 3: have those barbecues and those poor parties is because they
- 1:05Speaker 3: sacrificed everything for us to have that freedom. So USA
- 1:08Speaker 3: has made it their mission to not only honor our military,
- 1:12Speaker 3: but to make it known what Memorial Day is about.
- 1:14Speaker 3: It's become my mission. Over the last fifteen years because
- 1:17Speaker 3: I am so entwined in this military community. And the
- 1:21Speaker 3: display you see behind me has sit over six hundred
- 1:25Speaker 3: and forty six thousand poppies in it to represent all
- 1:28Speaker 3: of the soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice since
- 1:30Speaker 3: World War One, and when you take that into consideration,
- 1:34Speaker 3: it really is a humbling experience. You know, they've actually
- 1:38Speaker 3: this is the seventh year that USA has done this
- 1:40Speaker 3: poppy Wall of honor, and they've actually added now stories
- 1:44Speaker 3: from the family members of the fallen soldiers that you
- 1:46Speaker 3: can come and when you visit, you can listen and
- 1:49Speaker 3: hear those stories. And part of the reason for that
- 1:52Speaker 3: is we never want people to feel in our military
- 1:55Speaker 3: communities like their sacrifices are not really being honored. We
- 1:59Speaker 3: don't want them to feel like they're being forgotten. So
- 2:02Speaker 3: this is a huge way to do that. And I'm
- 2:04Speaker 3: honored to be here with USA to honor our military
- 2:07Speaker 3: families and especially the ones that made the ultimate sacrifice
- 2:10Speaker 3: for us to experience the freedoms that we have.
- 2:12Speaker 4: That's awesome work. Robert, really appreciate you doing that. It's
- 2:15Speaker 4: also a really good location for you to be at
- 2:17Speaker 4: for a Memorial Day to celebrate anything Memorial Day. What's
- 2:20Speaker 4: the weather like around you? It doesn't seem too great.
- 2:22Speaker 4: How are you navigating all that?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, the weather is not great. I got to
- 2:27Speaker 3: give a huge shout out to the whole staff here.
- 2:29Speaker 3: They've done a great job of keeping me dry. But
- 2:32Speaker 3: they are not dry, and it is very chilly. The
- 2:35Speaker 3: wind is whipping. But it's a very small sacrifice for
- 2:39Speaker 3: us to pay to honor our military and our soldiers
- 2:41Speaker 3: that paid the ultimate sacrifice. So we're right here, right
- 2:44Speaker 3: next to the World War Two Memorial on National Mall
- 2:48Speaker 3: in Washington, DC. Obviously my old stomping grounds, but we
- 2:52Speaker 3: want people to come and visit. We want people to
- 2:56Speaker 3: share those memories. Even on social media. You know, they
- 2:58Speaker 3: can use hashtag pop and memory and share those stories
- 3:02Speaker 3: of a family member, a friend, or someone that they
- 3:04Speaker 3: knew that was in the military that made and paid
- 3:07Speaker 3: the ultimate sacrifice. And I'm gonna share as many as
- 3:10Speaker 3: I possibly can that I see on social media. But
- 3:12Speaker 3: it's really just about continuing their stories because I don't
- 3:16Speaker 3: know if you guys know this, but there's this huge
- 3:18Speaker 3: saying in the military community that there's no soldier left behind,
- 3:20Speaker 3: and how we honor them is by not leaving their
- 3:23Speaker 3: stories in the past, but continuing to propel them into
- 3:25Speaker 3: the future. So there's no better place to do it
- 3:28Speaker 3: than right here in Washington, DC.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Keep up the great work, man, and we'll ask you
- 3:32Speaker 2: about it again as we move forward here. But I
- 3:35Speaker 2: got to tell you, not many people Robert can rock
- 3:38Speaker 2: the suit with a cowboy hat make it look that good.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Holy bleap man, man, I appreciate you, guys.
- 3:46Speaker 3: I feel like Walker Texas Ranger, you know, shout out
- 3:48Speaker 3: to Chuck Norris rest in peace, but he I feel
- 3:54Speaker 3: I feel official not gonna lie.
- 3:57Speaker 5: R three. We play a game here called one Table
- 4:00Speaker 5: where the premise is the hottest restaurant in town. There's
- 4:03Speaker 5: one table left. Who gets the table? This table is
- 4:08Speaker 5: in Waco, Texas.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 4:11Speaker 5: RG three walks in and then Chip and Joanna from
- 4:15Speaker 5: Fixer Upper walks in. Who gets that table?
- 4:20Speaker 1: It depends on where we're at.
- 4:21Speaker 3: If we're at the Silos, it's definitely Chipping Joanna. But
- 4:25Speaker 3: you know, I would say, you know, I would probably
- 4:29Speaker 3: give them the table because although what we did at
- 4:32Speaker 3: Baylor University kind of put Waco on the map in
- 4:36Speaker 3: a good way for all the bad things that have
- 4:39Speaker 3: happened in Waco, Texas. What Chip and Johanna Games have
- 4:43Speaker 3: done to help the city grow with Magnolia and with
- 4:48Speaker 3: the Silos is truly something that I think every Waco
- 4:52Speaker 3: in is truly appreciative of. So I've got a great
- 4:55Speaker 3: relationship with them. Would I would be willing to forfeit
- 4:59Speaker 3: forfeit table for Jim and Johnna.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Take his to go, Rob, We're gonna play.
- 5:05Speaker 4: We're gonna play more of those one tables for you
- 5:07Speaker 4: in a second. But I got one question for you.
- 5:10Speaker 4: You have a criteria for teams at a twenty four
- 5:13Speaker 4: team playoff in college football?
- 5:15Speaker 1: What is that? Yes? Oh, dred percent.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So first, Robert, I feel like Robert, I feel like
- 5:21Speaker 2: a twenty fourteen playoff takes away from what makes college
- 5:24Speaker 2: football special, which is the regular season.
- 5:26Speaker 1: You're new getting the regular season? All right, I.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Disagree, But let me let me first explain why I'm
- 5:34Speaker 3: why I'm in favor of the twenty four playoff. It's
- 5:37Speaker 3: more about not hurting the student athletes. Because you hear
- 5:40Speaker 3: a lot of people say, hey, just cat put what
- 5:42Speaker 3: they can make. Well, that's that's going back to what
- 5:44Speaker 3: was going on between nineteen oh six and twenty twenty one.
- 5:48Speaker 3: I don't want to go I don't want to go
- 5:49Speaker 3: back there. I think the players, they've built, the brands,
- 5:52Speaker 3: they've built the industry, they deserve to share in the revenue. Okay,
- 5:55Speaker 3: So in order to not cap the market potential of
- 5:58Speaker 3: the players, you have to expect at twenty four because
- 6:01Speaker 3: college sports needs more money, and I'm very clear about that.
- 6:05Speaker 3: It is about the money. Otherwise the non revenue generating
- 6:09Speaker 3: sports are going to continue to evaporate. There's been over
- 6:12Speaker 3: a thousand programs that have been shuttered since twenty twenty
- 6:16Speaker 3: five with the House settlement because they can't afford to
- 6:21Speaker 3: spend money on those sports. All right, so now you
- 6:24Speaker 3: get past that. Yes, college football has the most impactful
- 6:28Speaker 3: regular season in all of sports period. Okay, but right
- 6:32Speaker 3: now it only really matters when it comes to a
- 6:34Speaker 3: national championship to about ten to fifteen elite blue blood programs.
- 6:39Speaker 3: So by expanding the twenty four and the criteria being won,
- 6:43Speaker 3: there's no four loss teams allowed in the playoff. The
- 6:46Speaker 3: second criteria is there's ten automatic bids for every FBS
- 6:51Speaker 3: conference champion that doesn't have four losses. Okay, So there's
- 6:56Speaker 3: ten FBS conferences. Last year, four of those conferences wouldn't
- 7:00Speaker 3: have qualified because their conference champion had four losses or more.
- 7:04Speaker 3: That opens up the college Football Playoff to mean more
- 7:08Speaker 3: to all of college football at the FBS level. So
- 7:12Speaker 3: if we have a regular season that's the most impactful,
- 7:15Speaker 3: we're not nuking it. By expanding the playoff and including
- 7:18Speaker 3: this criteria, we're actually making it a better regular season.
- 7:23Speaker 3: That means more to those teams because now they know, Hey,
- 7:26Speaker 3: if I win the MAC, that's great. But if I
- 7:28Speaker 3: win the MAC and I'm six and six, I'm still
- 7:30Speaker 3: not going to the College Football Playoff. So I think
- 7:33Speaker 3: no four loss teams should get in, regardless, Big ten, SEC, ACC,
- 7:38Speaker 3: Big twelve, none of them. If they have four losses
- 7:41Speaker 3: year out, that means your league just wasn't good enough
- 7:42Speaker 3: that year. That means your team that won the conference
- 7:45Speaker 3: champion ship just wasn't good enough that year. But I
- 7:48Speaker 3: want to see the entirety of college football get in.
- 7:51Speaker 3: It is not the power for that makes college football great.
- 7:54Speaker 3: It's all of college football that makes college football great.
- 7:57Speaker 4: Robert, you give that exact same speech, and that exacts
- 8:00Speaker 4: suit in that exact same hat. In any sort of setting,
- 8:02Speaker 4: you will convince anybody.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yeah, but especially that setting. Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 3: So, and I get it. I understand why people don't
- 8:12Speaker 3: want it to expand. And we had similar things when
- 8:15Speaker 3: it was you know, the BCS and when it was
- 8:18Speaker 3: four teams, when it was eight teams. It's always doomsday
- 8:21Speaker 3: when expansion happens. But I think it's how you expand.
- 8:24Speaker 3: If we expand and it's a twenty four team at
- 8:27Speaker 3: large bid, I'm with you.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I don't think we should do that.
- 8:30Speaker 3: I think that's terrible because it will become the SEC
- 8:33Speaker 3: Big Ten, Big twelve ACC College Football Playoff, which it
- 8:36Speaker 3: pretty much is.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Anyway, we have some more one tables. You seem to
- 8:41Speaker 2: enjoy that, and so we have some more for you.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Let's kick it off here with Taylor. He has another one.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Go ahead, Taylor, So Rgie three.
- 8:47Speaker 5: We're gonna go to the nation's capital where you are.
- 8:50Speaker 5: This restaurant is in DC, let's say Georgetown. John Riggins
- 8:55Speaker 5: walks in, and then Alex Ovechkin walks in.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Who gets the tech geez oh?
- 9:02Speaker 3: I mean it depends on who's the owner of the restaurant.
- 9:05Speaker 1: You know, the name of the restaurant is RG three.
- 9:09Speaker 1: That's it.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Yes, then it's then it's okay, listen, I love ob
- 9:15Speaker 3: I love Obi was here when I was here. You
- 9:19Speaker 3: have to be a real historian of the game to
- 9:21Speaker 3: know John John Riggins, and I do because I study
- 9:24Speaker 3: the game. Uh but I would I would definitely give
- 9:26Speaker 3: it to Ovi. You know, he might be the second
- 9:28Speaker 3: greatest uh you know, hockey player of all time. So
- 9:32Speaker 3: I think he's getting that seat over John Riggans hundre percent.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Okay, this restaurant is let's say it's in the Heisman House.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Inside of the Heisman House. That's a big place, all right,
- 9:43Speaker 4: Fernando Mendozo and Tim Tebow.
- 9:47Speaker 2: All right, So there's an RG three's in the Heisman House.
- 9:50Speaker 2: You could call who gets that seat?
- 9:52Speaker 1: There's only one seat left, Okay, listen.
- 9:57Speaker 3: First of all, I love Fernando Mendoza. I love Fernando Mendoza.
- 10:01Speaker 3: I think that he is. I think he's gonna be
- 10:03Speaker 3: great for the Las Vegas Raiders. But it's Tim Tebo guys, Okay,
- 10:09Speaker 3: Like the speech is the blood rolling down his face.
- 10:12Speaker 3: Not only are you gonna get a great leader who's
- 10:15Speaker 3: going to motivate you, he's also going to take you
- 10:17Speaker 3: to Bible study. You know what I mean, Uh, you
- 10:19Speaker 3: can travel the country with him. You're gonna go, You're
- 10:21Speaker 3: gonna go fight against you know, sex trafficking and all
- 10:25Speaker 3: the horrors of the world. I think it's Tim Tebow
- 10:28Speaker 3: gets that seat one hundred percent of the time, ten
- 10:30Speaker 3: times out of ten.
- 10:31Speaker 4: No, Fernando's probably too nice.
- 10:32Speaker 2: He'll give it up, right, Yes, yeah, right, yes, please
- 10:35Speaker 2: take my seat.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Yes, Fernando's Fernando's gonna be at the Bible study with him.
- 10:39Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. I'm gonna be right there
- 10:40Speaker 3: as well. But I think Fernando would would sit there
- 10:43Speaker 3: and say, yeah, he's and he's not gonna call him Tim,
- 10:46Speaker 3: He's gonna call him mister T. So I think mister
- 10:49Speaker 3: Tebo's getting he's getting the seat.
- 10:51Speaker 1: He's he's with us here on behalf of us AA.
- 10:54Speaker 1: We'll get back to that in just a second. A
- 10:56Speaker 1: one table neutral site. Okay, I'm taking it out of
- 10:59Speaker 1: the state of Texas. It anywhere. Okay.
- 11:01Speaker 2: RGI three's is really growing here. You're a big track star.
- 11:04Speaker 2: This is gonna be a tough one for you. Michael
- 11:07Speaker 2: Johnson walks in. There's one table you went to Baylor.
- 11:09Speaker 2: You went to Baylor, and Carl Lewis walks in, who's
- 11:14Speaker 2: getting that table?
- 11:16Speaker 3: Oh, you guys are killing me.
- 11:20Speaker 4: Friends of Michael.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I am you know what, I'm gonna listen you guys
- 11:24Speaker 3: are you guys are great? I'm gonna I'm gonna give
- 11:26Speaker 3: you my honest answer. And it's Mike Shocks some people,
- 11:29Speaker 3: but it's Carl Lewis legend one one, it's Carl Lewis
- 11:34Speaker 3: because he had an incredible just an incredible national anthem
- 11:38Speaker 3: that he's sang that one time and I would just
- 11:40Speaker 3: ask him if he could sing it again. And then two,
- 11:44Speaker 3: Michael Johnson actually probably work at the restaurant, but Michael
- 11:49Speaker 3: Johnson is a Baylor guy. But he stole the Grand
- 11:54Speaker 3: Slam track idea from me, uh and then didn't involve
- 11:57Speaker 3: me in any of the the remotion of that track circuit.
- 12:02Speaker 3: And then I think, I don't know if you guys
- 12:03Speaker 3: know this, but they bellied up and everything. Yeah, they
- 12:09Speaker 3: they kind of belled on him. So like in my mind,
- 12:11Speaker 3: it was like, you know, it is what it is.
- 12:14Speaker 3: This is what happens when you when you don't involve
- 12:16Speaker 3: people that you should. So Carlo, Yeah, it's it's unfortunate,
- 12:23Speaker 3: but Carl Lewis is getting that table. I think he's
- 12:25Speaker 3: getting that table from me and the entire track and
- 12:28Speaker 3: field community as well.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, last one. We'll get you out of here.
- 12:31Speaker 1: We'll promote you. I say one more time.
- 12:33Speaker 2: On the way out back to the Heisman House, r
- 12:35Speaker 2: G three's in the Heisman House.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I love I love this restaurant. It's Bo Jackson. It's
- 12:40Speaker 1: Herschel Walker who's getting it. Oh, oh, it's Bo Jackson.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Hundred percent bow nos ball Bo bow bow played everything
- 12:50Speaker 3: and then and then Herschel Uh.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Herschel was actually.
- 12:55Speaker 3: In one of my first Heisman House commercials that I
- 12:58Speaker 3: had a part of, and he was doing pull ups
- 13:01Speaker 3: in the doorway, which was like, so Herschel Walker. But
- 13:04Speaker 3: I think Bo Jackson he's getting that seat.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Bo doesn't no.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Waiting, right, Yeah, Bou doesn't know waiting.
- 13:11Speaker 5: No.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yes, RG three. We love you, man, I want to
- 13:14Speaker 1: do more with you.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I don't know how to get ahold of you, but
- 13:16Speaker 2: we'll have to figure that out, because we do want
- 13:18Speaker 2: to do more football with you. But on the way
- 13:20Speaker 2: out here, headed into Memorial Day weekend, please tell everyone
- 13:23Speaker 2: again what you're doing with USAA and how they can
- 13:26Speaker 2: help in terms of what you're doing with USAA.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Yeah again, guys, we're here in the nation's capital at
- 13:33Speaker 3: the National Mall usaa's Poppy Wall of Honor. This is
- 13:37Speaker 3: a seventh year that they've done it. We want people
- 13:40Speaker 3: to know that Memorial Day is more than just about
- 13:42Speaker 3: long weekends, pool parties and barbecues. It's about honoring our
- 13:46Speaker 3: soldiers who have given the ultimate sacrifice. So in order
- 13:50Speaker 3: to keep those stories rolling, go to social media. Use
- 13:53Speaker 3: hashtag poppy and memory and that'll allow you to share
- 13:57Speaker 3: the stories of a family member, a loved one, or
- 14:00Speaker 3: someone that you knew that gave the ultimate sacrifice. I'm
- 14:03Speaker 3: going to share as many of those stories as I
- 14:04Speaker 3: possibly can and make sure we keep those stories alive
- 14:07Speaker 3: because that is what matters to our military family. We
- 14:10Speaker 3: want to make sure that they know that they're never
- 14:12Speaker 3: going to be forgotten.
- 14:13Speaker 1: All right, Ben, You're great. It's a great cause.
- 14:15Speaker 2: We appreciate you joining us here and RG three again.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I want to do more with you. I'll have unless
- 14:20Speaker 2: of my people will reach out to your people.
- 14:23Speaker 3: We're going to make it happen.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I appreciate you, brother, all right, Thank you man
