- 0:41Don Armstrong: David Ainsley sleeping in, getting prepared for next weekend's Get You Ready.
- 0:50Don Armstrong: From the Katie Loopy Tortilla Text Bags.
- 0:54Jeff Dziekan: So, anyway, so we're trying to put 10 pounds of stuff in a in a five-pound bag for the rest of the day.
- 1:00Jeff Dziekan: What's the stuff?
- 1:01Jeff Dziekan: What stuff are you talking about?
- 1:03Jeff Dziekan: Well, it could be it could be uh cotton candy, could be other things.
- 1:07Mike Marrs: Or George says use your torque wrench to cram it all in there.
- 1:11Mike Marrs: There you go.
- 1:11Mike Marrs: Thank you, George.
- 1:12Don Armstrong: George was tired of me complaining about the Craftsman Torque wrench that they that they wouldn't actually fulfill their obligation that they sold me.
- 1:22Don Armstrong: And uh he bought me one and sent me one.
- 1:24Don Armstrong: I'll never forget that.
- 1:25Don Armstrong: George, we hope that you're feeling like tired of listen, huh?
- 1:28Don Armstrong: Yeah, I know.
- 1:29Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 1:30Don Armstrong: Kind of like that other wife that you have.
- 1:32Don Armstrong: Well, kind of like you, Mars.
- 1:33Jeff Dziekan: He's throwing a tantrum in the store, so he just could they go ahead and bought it for me.
- 1:37Don Armstrong: Bought it for me and sent it to me in the office.
- 1:40Don Armstrong: I got a brand new torque wrench that shows up.
- 1:44Don Armstrong: And by the way, just to let you know, I actually used it uh last week when I torqued the bet wheels.
- 1:52Don Armstrong: No, I torqued the actual blade on the lawnmower to 60 pound feet as requested.
- 1:59Don Armstrong: You know, you can come over and do mine.
- 2:01Don Armstrong: I will.
- 2:01Don Armstrong: I told you that.
- 2:03Don Armstrong: You why'd you have the blade off?
- 2:06Don Armstrong: I put a new I put a new blade on it.
- 2:08Don Armstrong: Ah the old blade was dull and dirty.
- 2:12Don Armstrong: And when you hit that cat, you know, it's it just kind of ruined it blade.
- 2:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it did that.
- 2:18Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 2:19Don Armstrong: Driving destinations, Mr.
- 2:20Don Armstrong: Mars.
- 2:21Don Armstrong: Let me take it, Mike.
- 2:22Don Armstrong: Yeah, buddy, yeah.
- 2:23Don Armstrong: Jeff, if you would.
- 2:24Don Armstrong: And the and the subject uh today is going to be seven national hot rod events to put on your calendar.
- 2:32Don Armstrong: Hopefully the summer.
- 2:34Mike Marrs: Exactly.
- 2:34Mike Marrs: Now they start pretty quick, but the idea is these are all over the country.
- 2:38Mike Marrs: And if you want to make one of these that's not necessarily in your region, you might want to have to plan a little bit to get it in there.
- 2:45Mike Marrs: So we're going to start with the Good Guys Del Mar Nationals.
- 2:48Mike Marrs: Now, this is in Southern California.
- 2:50Mike Marrs: Now, the good guys do have several events across the country, but this kind of starts it off.
- 2:55Mike Marrs: And it's in California, and it's important because they have a big turnout of Southern California cars, you know, the whole car culture that's down there and the weather.
- 3:05Mike Marrs: So it's a great place.
- 3:06Mike Marrs: They do a lot of cruising, there's a lot of showing, but you just it's not really a formal show, but apparently it's a pretty informal show, and it's someplace to plan if you want to go to California for a car show.
- 3:18Mike Marrs: Then the next one we're going to look at coming up in April is the Pigeon Forge Spring Rod Run.
- 3:24Mike Marrs: Now, of course, this is in Tennessee, and you're going to get thousands of classic cars and street rods and customs come in, and the whole town becomes this rolling car show.
- 3:32Mike Marrs: I've seen a lot of pictures of it, never made it up there.
- 3:35Mike Marrs: Uh to cruise the parkway to check out some of the vendor um places, the swap meet.
- 3:41Mike Marrs: It's just there's a whole lot of stuff.
- 3:43Don Armstrong: It's coming up in three weeks.
- 3:45Mike Marrs: Three weeks, yes, it's coming up pretty quick.
- 3:48Mike Marrs: Then uh from there, the next one would be the Hot Rod Tour of Texas.
- 3:52Mike Marrs: I picked this because I like it, and and it's intentionally a smaller event so that it could be a little more um personalized, I guess you would call it.
- 4:01Don Armstrong: But it's considered 300 cars a smaller event.
- 4:04Mike Marrs: Well, compared to these other ones where you're talking thousand plus cars, it's it's a pretty big deal.
- 4:09Mike Marrs: So uh, but it is uh it's really about driving and cruising with a lot of people that you know or or that you've met, and it's that car camaraderie as you go through the event for three days.
- 4:20Mike Marrs: And uh it's great fun.
- 4:21Mike Marrs: We've been a couple of times and uh love it to death.
- 4:24Mike Marrs: Then the next one coming up in June 8th through the 12th is one you've probably heard a little bit more about the Hot Rod Power Tour.
- 4:31Mike Marrs: Now, this the power tour, it's kind of part road trip and it's kind of a national gathering, so there's thousands of vehicles, and you travel across multiple states with each each stop, actually becomes its own event because there's so many vehicles there.
- 4:45Mike Marrs: Uh, and they move into the cities with the smoke muscle cars and customs and classics, and it's just uh uh a big rolling car show, if you will.
- 4:55Mike Marrs: Now, the next one is back to the good guys, and I picked this one because it's different.
- 5:00Mike Marrs: This is the Good Guys Summit Racing Nationals July the 10th through the 12th, and it's often called the Big One because it's one of the largest muscle and hot rod gatherings in the country.
- 5:10Mike Marrs: It's at the Ohio Expo Center, they bring in 6,000 plus cars, including classic muscle street machines, lost in the crowd.
- 5:21Mike Marrs: Absolutely.
- 5:21Mike Marrs: But this one they they do more, uh they get more things going on.
- 5:25Mike Marrs: They do autocross, they got the swap meets, and of course they do major awards like the street machine of the year that they have out under the good guy branding thing.
- 5:35Mike Marrs: And uh, so it's a really big deal, and that would be the I guess what you would call the keystone event of them for the good guys.
- 5:41Mike Marrs: Now, the sixth one that we have is the NSRA Street Rod Nationals.
- 5:45Mike Marrs: This is August 6th through 9th.
- 5:47Mike Marrs: And this is very specific.
- 5:49Mike Marrs: Um, it is the crown jewel of the NSRA calendar, and it runs up, it's in Louisville.
- 5:56Mike Marrs: They have over 10,000 cars.
- 5:59Mike Marrs: Now, this is part show, part reunion, they got a parts marketplace, and it's really got uh a lot of vehicles to do a lot of things.
- 6:07Mike Marrs: A lot of cars are driven, there's a lot of opportunities to drive them and share stories with a lot of the other people that are there.
- 6:13Mike Marrs: Now, the um Woodward Dream Cruise is one that I've always liked.
- 6:20Mike Marrs: I've always wanted to go.
- 6:21Mike Marrs: We've talked about a lot of times trying to figure out a way to get up there.
- 6:24Mike Marrs: August the 15th, this is the third Saturday of August, which traditionally is when it happens, and it's considered America's largest one-day automotive celebration.
- 6:33Mike Marrs: Historic Woodward Avenue becomes a rolling museum of horsepower and heritage with all the manufacturers having setting up displays on the sidelines, and from what I'm told, you can't see it all in a day.
- 6:45Mike Marrs: There's multiple cities across there.
- 6:47Mike Marrs: I think Jeff's got some information about how that all began in 1995.
- 6:51Mike Marrs: It was just a fundraiser, and it's really become the soul of the motor city car culture.
- 6:56Jeff Dziekan: It is a big event, and it's it's more of a sponsorship thing where you've got maybe this five city blocks are are by Ford, or the next three city blocks are by whatever vendor, uh some of the sports drink things.
- 7:08Jeff Dziekan: It's all it's a big circus.
- 7:10Jeff Dziekan: Yes, you do need more than just a day.
- 7:12Jeff Dziekan: It actually starts like about a week ahead of time and then it kind of trickles off after that.
- 7:16Jeff Dziekan: Uh it's a huge event.
- 7:18Jeff Dziekan: Um I got a friend of mine, uh, Todd Sheldon, grew up with him.
- 7:21Jeff Dziekan: He's actually going back to Detroit, lives in Colorado, going back to Detroit for this event, possibly, and he was telling me I need to meet him there.
- 7:28Jeff Dziekan: Uh, but we'll we'll see what happens.
- 7:30Jeff Dziekan: But uh it it's it's fun, it looks like a fun thing to do.
- 7:34Mike Marrs: Oh, I think it would be great.
- 7:35Mike Marrs: I was on Woodward Avenue once.
- 7:36Mike Marrs: I was a passenger in a mini, a little mini club car, and uh, we were dreaming about what it would be like to be there.
- 7:44Mike Marrs: Actually, got into a drag race with another mini down Woodward Avenue, and we thought it was cool.
- 7:49Mike Marrs: But anyway, that's some things that you can look at for the rest of the year to kind of make some plans if you really want to get out and about and go to some of these big events.
- 7:56Don Armstrong: All right, so are some of the recalls this week.
- 7:58Don Armstrong: Volkswagen, loose transmission ground wire, may cause a fire in the Volkswagen Jetta 2025 and 2026.
- 8:08Don Armstrong: Uh Chrysler.
- 8:11Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 8:12Don Armstrong: Um I don't know what Chrysler, FCA US.
- 8:15Don Armstrong: They they need to change that.
- 8:16Don Armstrong: It should be Stilantis because the Jeep Wagon here, S for 24 through 26, the liftgate hinge cover may detach.
- 8:26Don Armstrong: Ooh.
- 8:26Don Armstrong: There's something that really works.
- 8:28Don Armstrong: That person probably got a ticket back in the parking lot.
- 8:30Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 8:31Don Armstrong: Hinge cover.
- 8:32Don Armstrong: Insufficiently welded front seat frames may have you kissing the dash and the Nissan kicks and the Nissan Centra for 2026.
- 8:40Don Armstrong: That's what he'd be calling.
- 8:42Don Armstrong: Volkswagen recalling nearly a hundred thousand electric vehicles, of which some 28,000 are in Germany, citing problems linked to battery modules, according to the German Motor Vehicle Authority, or KBA's work.
- 8:56Don Armstrong: The recall notices affect only 75,000 vehicles from VW's ID series, as well as nearly 20,000 Cupra borns that were built between February 22nd and August 24th.
- 9:10Don Armstrong: According to the notices issued, modules in the high voltage battery do not meet specifications and can result in reduced range, and there is a risk of flight.
- 9:19Don Armstrong: That's the bus, right?
- 9:20Don Armstrong: ID bus, ID and Hunt ID series bus.
- 9:24Don Armstrong: Yes.
- 9:25Don Armstrong: And of course, you can't get a week without having Ford on here.
- 9:29Don Armstrong: And we were bragging about the Ford Maverick, the uh mid-sized pickup truck.
- 9:34Don Armstrong: Well, but the moon roof glass panel you need to attach it's being recalled, along with the Hyundai Palisade and Palisade Hybrid for 2026 because the power rear seats may trap somebody back there.
- 9:46Jeff Dziekan: We need a wheel behind us.
- 9:47Jeff Dziekan: We'll spin the wheel, the manufacture wheel, and and whatever it lands on, we'll give them a uh recall.
- 9:52Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 9:52Don Armstrong: Well, you this that's this is gonna be your charge for this week.
- 9:56Don Armstrong: And you're gonna you're gonna build a wheel.
- 9:59Jeff Dziekan: All the car manufacturers are gonna we're gonna spin it and see which one will get us uh we'll get uh the Bob Barker guy.
- 10:06Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 10:07Jeff Dziekan: The Bob Barker.
- 10:09Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, get him.
- 10:10Jeff Dziekan: Okay, spin away.
- 10:11Don Armstrong: Um so why don't we do the sold car roundup?
- 10:17Don Armstrong: Okay, so a fun little game that we all play.
- 10:20Don Armstrong: And uh usually uh Jeff Heisman and George Skelton can join us um online to help us, and then you're more than welcome to join in as well.
- 10:30Don Armstrong: Now, Mr.
- 10:31Don Armstrong: Morris can't play along because he's the one that put the pictures together, so you're you're out of luck, Mars.
- 10:38Don Armstrong: Just saying he's not even paying any attention anyway, and he can't do that.
- 10:43Don Armstrong: Well, he yeah, I got it.
- 10:46Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 10:46Don Armstrong: So our first topic today, um, because I'm a Corvette guy, I thought that we would find out how much the 1964 Chevrolet Corvette sold for.
- 11:00Don Armstrong: 64 Corvette.
- 11:01Don Armstrong: It looks like an original.
- 11:03Don Armstrong: Um it looks like it may even because of the price, may have original paint.
- 11:08Don Armstrong: Not sure, but that's the way it looks to me.
- 11:11Don Armstrong: But uh so what do you think that that car sold for?
- 11:14Jeff Dziekan: I'm thinking 32.
- 11:15Don Armstrong: And I failed to mention that uh David Ainsley, our chief engineer, usually tags in on this as well, if he's available.
- 11:21Don Armstrong: You're saying how much?
- 11:22Don Armstrong: 32.
- 11:23Don Armstrong: 32.
- 11:24Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 11:25Don Armstrong: Um anybody else want to uh Jeffrey says 35.
- 11:28Don Armstrong: Jeff Heitzman says 35,000.
- 11:31Don Armstrong: Um anybody else?
- 11:33Don Armstrong: If not, I can tell you that it sold for$63,000.
- 11:36Jeff Dziekan: Well, Jeff and our split.
- 11:38Don Armstrong: Oh yeah, okay.
- 11:41Don Armstrong: Yeah, because that that that would include the tax.
- 11:45Don Armstrong: Next up, a 1931 Chevrolet.
- 11:49Don Armstrong: My guess is that's not the original paint job on it.
- 11:52Don Armstrong: Uh 1931 Chevrolet.
- 11:55Don Armstrong: Um would you call that a resto mod?
- 11:58Don Armstrong: I guess it would be if it's not the original paint.
- 12:00Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 12:02Don Armstrong: No, I mean.
- 12:03Don Armstrong: Do you think that Chevrolet actually offered that color?
- 12:06Don Armstrong: I don't.
- 12:07Don Armstrong: No, I don't either, but you don't have any.
- 12:09Don Armstrong: That would be called a resto mod.
- 12:11Don Armstrong: It's restored and it's modified.
- 12:14Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 12:16Don Armstrong: All right.
- 12:17Don Armstrong: Well, you call it whatever you want.
- 12:19Don Armstrong: How much did it sell for?
- 12:20Don Armstrong: 21.
- 12:21Don Armstrong: 21.
- 12:22Jeff Dziekan: And I'm going pretty high on that, yeah.
- 12:24Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 12:25Don Armstrong: Um who else do we have online that's going to make the bigger?
- 12:28Jeff Dziekan: There's going to be chiming in.
- 12:30Jeff Dziekan: Uh Mr.
- 12:30Don Armstrong: Heideman says uh, okay.
- 12:34Jeff Dziekan: George 28,999.
- 12:37Jeff Dziekan: 289 and 95 cents.
- 12:38Don Armstrong: Okay, well, it's sold.
- 12:39Don Armstrong: The 31 Chevrolet sold for$11,340.
- 12:44Don Armstrong: See, you two can play along.
- 12:46Mike Marrs: Yeah, just those old restored cars, even if they're modified with new paint, just don't bring a lot of money, comparatively speaking.
- 12:54Don Armstrong: Well, you try putting that on the freeway.
- 12:59Don Armstrong: That doesn't that doesn't work.
- 13:00Jeff Dziekan: You can absolutely do that as long as it's on a trailer.
- 13:02unknown: Yeah.
- 13:03Don Armstrong: Next up is the 71 Triumph TR6.
- 13:06Jeff Dziekan: Oh, these are these are cool cars.
- 13:08Don Armstrong: Triumph TR6, a 71 model.
- 13:11Jeff Dziekan: Oh man.
- 13:13Don Armstrong: And um now this could go on the highway.
- 13:16Jeff Dziekan: Oh, that'd be that'd be a fun car to drive.
- 13:18Don Armstrong: It would be, but you know, trying to make sure that the carburetor and the distributor stuff is gonna work all the time.
- 13:24Jeff Dziekan: Okay, what year is it again?
- 13:26Don Armstrong: 71.
- 13:26Don Armstrong: 71.
- 13:27Don Armstrong: 71.
- 13:28Don Armstrong: So how much?
- 13:29Don Armstrong: I'm gonna go eight grand.
- 13:31Don Armstrong: Eight?
- 13:32Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 13:33Don Armstrong: Um anybody else?
- 13:34Jeff Dziekan: Jeff's got 26.
- 13:38Jeff Dziekan: And George's 18.99.
- 13:40Jeff Dziekan: 1699.
- 13:41Don Armstrong: Well, uh, actually, George is the closest.
- 13:43Don Armstrong: It's sold for 1579.
- 13:45Jeff Dziekan: Wow.
- 13:46Don Armstrong: George, uh, you and Twilight would look really good on the hot rod tour.
- 13:50Don Armstrong: But she would need to drive.
- 13:52Don Armstrong: Whatever.
- 13:53Don Armstrong: All right, next up.
- 13:55Don Armstrong: Here's one that I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole.
- 13:57Don Armstrong: Uh-oh.
- 13:58Don Armstrong: It's got pull marks on it.
- 13:59Don Armstrong: Uh-huh.
- 14:00Don Armstrong: Uh 2015 Jaguar XKR.
- 14:05Don Armstrong: It looks good.
- 14:06Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 14:09Don Armstrong: But oh my God, can you imagine the price it would cost to get that thing fixed?
- 14:14Don Armstrong: Um 2015 Jaguar XKR.
- 14:17Don Armstrong: How much did it sell for on Hemings Marketplace?
- 14:22unknown: 14.
- 14:22Mike Marrs: That's a two-door, right?
- 14:26Don Armstrong: Yes.
- 14:27Don Armstrong: 14,000.
- 14:29Don Armstrong: 14,000, Jeff said.
- 14:31Don Armstrong: Jeff Zika.
- 14:33Don Armstrong: Anybody else want to dare venture a guess on this one?
- 14:36Jeff Dziekan: They're all googling it.
- 14:37Don Armstrong: Are they?
- 14:38Don Armstrong: I hope not.
- 14:39Don Armstrong: But we're going to move on.
- 14:40Don Armstrong: And I will tell you that it is sold for$25.99.
- 14:43Jeff Dziekan: Okay, Jeff Isen's at$19.
- 14:45Jeff Dziekan: And George is at$26.99.
- 14:47Don Armstrong: Well, George, once again, next up.
- 14:50Don Armstrong: Now, this is a collector car in my mind.
- 14:52Don Armstrong: A 1965 Ford Mustang.
- 14:56Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 14:57Don Armstrong: And it's it's the old tradition.
- 14:58Don Armstrong: It's even got the these hubcaps on this car.
- 15:02Don Armstrong: Well, they're wheel covers.
- 15:03Don Armstrong: They were so cool because they were just regular wheel covers, but they had the little knockoff spinner on them.
- 15:09Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 15:09Don Armstrong: And they looked like they had kind of spoke things on them.
- 15:12Don Armstrong: And they stuck out a little bit.
- 15:13Don Armstrong: They were fancy, yeah.
- 15:14Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 15:15Don Armstrong: For 65, that was fancy.
- 15:16Don Armstrong: This looks like a stock car.
- 15:18Don Armstrong: Probably.
- 15:20Mike Marrs: The hubcaps are the precursor to those real wide ones you see going down the freeway in Houston where they stick out 20 inches.
- 15:26Don Armstrong: Yeah, that's that's it.
- 15:27Don Armstrong: That's what they are.
- 15:28Don Armstrong: 65 Ford Mustang, how much did it sell for?
- 15:31Don Armstrong: 10 grand.
- 15:31Don Armstrong: 10 grand?
- 15:32Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 15:33Don Armstrong: Jeff Heitzman says 45.
- 15:35Jeff Dziekan: Wow.
- 15:36Jeff Dziekan: 45,000.
- 15:36Don Armstrong: Well, they're pretty expensive.
- 15:39Don Armstrong: Wow.
- 15:40Don Armstrong: Okay, well, whatever the case may be.
- 15:42Don Armstrong: Did uh did George chime in?
- 15:45Don Armstrong: No, he's he's still.
- 15:47Don Armstrong: Okay, well, it sold for$21,000.
- 15:49Don Armstrong: Okay.
- 15:50Don Armstrong: Which I thought was pretty good.
- 15:51Don Armstrong: Okay, next up, the 32 Chevrolet Confederate.
- 15:56Don Armstrong: Oh that is a fancy car, if you ask me.
- 15:59Jeff Dziekan: That looks nice.
- 15:59Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 16:00Don Armstrong: I didn't even know they made a Confederate.
- 16:02Don Armstrong: I didn't either.
- 16:03Don Armstrong: But this is a 32 Chevy Confederate.
- 16:06Don Armstrong: If I was going to buy a car like this, this I'd probably be something that I would be interested in.
- 16:11Don Armstrong: Uh oh.
- 16:11Don Armstrong: Uh oh.
- 16:12Don Armstrong: You once again, Mars, you you you zipped ahead.
- 16:15Jeff Dziekan: I didn't touch it.
- 16:16Don Armstrong: No, there somebody did.
- 16:18Jeff Dziekan: The uh isn't it like a one-year model?
- 16:22Jeff Dziekan: I have no clue.
- 16:23Jeff Dziekan: Has it ever been recalled?
- 16:24Don Armstrong: I don't know.
- 16:25Don Armstrong: Any of that.
- 16:27Don Armstrong: And it comes with its own torque rent.
- 16:29Jeff Dziekan: $21,000.
- 16:30Jeff Dziekan: $21,000.
- 16:31Jeff Dziekan: Jeff Heisman says$39.
- 16:35Jeff Dziekan: And George is$219999.
- 16:37Don Armstrong: Well, uh, once again, George has won the lottery.
- 16:40Don Armstrong: I hope he's got a big garage.
- 16:44Don Armstrong: Next up, the previewed$59 Ford F100.
- 16:50Don Armstrong: Now, this look I mean, I don't think that that car ever came with wide whites.
- 16:55Don Armstrong: It wasn't even an option.
- 16:58Don Armstrong: And the grill has been painted and there's some things with it.
- 17:03Don Armstrong: It's yeah, modified 59 Ford F one Ford F 100.
- 17:08Don Armstrong: Yeah.
- 17:08Don Armstrong: 19.
- 17:10Mike Marrs: Yeah, because it's got a V8 in it.
- 17:12Mike Marrs: It's got a lot of chrome on it.
- 17:14Mike Marrs: Wide whites.

- 22:49Don Armstrong: I wanted to uh show you guys something.
- 22:52Don Armstrong: Oh yeah.
- 22:53Don Armstrong: Um and we can use this for a background.
- 22:56Don Armstrong: Maybe we could start doing that and come back to the studio next week.
- 22:59Don Armstrong: So my friend Bill Seitz, who everybody knows, I think, uh at least that watches the show on a regular basis.
- 23:06Don Armstrong: Um Bill and Sharon, his wife, and I have uh well been friends for a long, long time, since 1977.
- 23:15Don Armstrong: And um Bill and Sharon and I were in the same Corvette Club.
- 23:18Don Armstrong: That's how I met them way back then.
- 23:21Don Armstrong: So Bill is a very talented artist and he has a company called Autographics.
- 23:27Don Armstrong: And uh one of the things that he does is that he takes people's cars and he uh makes a painting of them.
- 23:34Don Armstrong: And you'll find a lot of his work at the Henny Hideout out there, uh, along with a lot of other people that are in the business, in the in the hobby, uh, that know Bill and actually have hired him to make portraits of yours.
- 23:50Don Armstrong: So he surprised me this week and came over and said, I got something for you.
- 23:54Don Armstrong: And he gave me this, and I don't know whether you can see that real well or not.
- 23:59Don Armstrong: But uh anyway, it's uh it's a painting of my car.
- 24:04Don Armstrong: And uh and on the back of it he says, Congratulations to our longtime friend, 45 plus years, love Bill and Sharon.
- 24:13Don Armstrong: And so um I thought, well, you know what?
- 24:16Don Armstrong: I need to do something really nice for Bill.
- 24:18Don Armstrong: And what I'm gonna wind up doing is I'm going to, and uh Mr.
- 24:22Don Armstrong: Mars, this is new, I mean Mars doesn't know this yet.
- 24:25Don Armstrong: I'm gonna do a little 30-second commercial for him featuring some of his artwork.
- 24:29Don Armstrong: And um maybe perhaps if you've got, you know, a friend, a husband, a wife, or somebody that's got a special car in their life, and uh he is in the business to sell these, right?
- 24:41Don Armstrong: And uh he can make one for you, and uh I'll give you all the information on how to get in touch with him.
- 24:46Don Armstrong: But I wanted to thank Bill Seitz and his wife Sharon.
- 24:49Don Armstrong: Uh but Bill's the artist behind all of this, and he does such a beautiful job, and uh he's a dear, dear friend, and I certainly do appreciate it.
- 24:57Mike Marrs: He's a gorgeous picture.
- 24:58Don Armstrong: And make a great Father's Day gift.
- 25:00Don Armstrong: Yep.
- 25:00Don Armstrong: Well, I don't know if you could turn it around that quickly, but well, you have to do a little planning.
- 25:04Mike Marrs: Oh, Christmas.
- 25:05Mike Marrs: You'd have to commission your birthday.
- 25:07Jeff Dziekan: Commission the artwork and sure.
- 25:11Jeff Dziekan: The signs that you see at auto shows and auto ramas and things of the car and the descriptions like you have you had one for your Corvair that he did for you.
- 25:17Jeff Dziekan: Yes.
- 25:18Jeff Dziekan: And it's that type of artwork, it's very, very nice stuff.
- 25:20Jeff Dziekan: Yeah.
- 25:21Jeff Dziekan: You'll really appreciate it.
- 25:23Don Armstrong: Uh a couple of stories I wanted to spit out here.
- 25:26Don Armstrong: French supplier, Vallejo.
- 25:29Don Armstrong: Now, that's not Valero, this is Vallejo, is building a$225 million factory that will provide General Motors with central compute units for the automaker's next generation vehicle architecture.
- 25:42Don Armstrong: The plant is down in McCallan, Texas, or that's where they're going to build it, near the border with Mexico.
- 25:47Don Armstrong: It'll be built in phases over five years and begin production late next year, 2027.
- 25:53Don Armstrong: Baleo North America President Jeffrey Shea said that's uh just before GM plans to launch a centralized computing platform on the Cadillac Escalade IQ in 2028.
- 26:06Don Armstrong: So big doings down there.
- 26:10Don Armstrong: Here's something that'll really tick you off.
- 26:13Jeff Dziekan: It's been that kind of day.
- 26:15Jeff Dziekan: Yeah, it has been.
- 26:16Don Armstrong: Very frustrating.
- 26:17Don Armstrong: Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley's total compensation jumped nearly 11% last year to$27,519,558.69.
- 26:30Don Armstrong: The highest total since he became CEO in 2020.
- 26:33Don Armstrong: Why he is still the CEO is a baffle to me.
- 26:37Don Armstrong: That's after the company exceeded initial quality targets, despite posting record recalls.
- 26:46Mike Marrs: What sense do I mean?
- 26:48Mike Marrs: Maybe that was one of the targets.
- 26:51Don Armstrong: Farley's non-equity incentives jumped 255 percent after the company hit 130 percent of its overall bonus targets.
- 26:59Don Armstrong: While it reached just 64 percent of earnings targets, the company reached the maximum 200 percent of quality goals, quality goals related to vehicles with zero and three months in service.
- 27:15Don Armstrong: It also hit 200 percent of its integrated services.
- 27:20Don Armstrong: I'm just baffled.
- 27:22Mike Marrs: So they're measuring quality on zero days, which means it's as soon as it rolls off the assembly line, up to three months, and it's most likely still sitting on the dealer's lot for three months.
- 27:33Mike Marrs: So, how could they find something that's wrong?
- 27:35Mike Marrs: So I can see where he would get big numbers off of that.
- 27:38Mike Marrs: Okay.
- 27:38Don Armstrong: Well, good for him.
- 27:40Don Armstrong: We're gonna take a quick break while I try to cool down and uh we're gonna wrap up today's show after this quick break here on In Wheel Time.
