- 2:03Speaker 1: Lindy Ruff as well as defenseman bowem Byrom on the
- 2:05Speaker 1: show as well with their postgame thoughts. So Austin, as
- 2:08Speaker 1: we get into this, we had a couple hours now
- 2:10Speaker 1: to digest that game this afternoon, a nice two pm
- 2:14Speaker 1: game in Boston at TD Gardens, and it sounded like
- 2:17Speaker 1: a library there tonight if you're a Bruins fan, and
- 2:20Speaker 1: if you were a Sabers fan, and there were a
- 2:22Speaker 1: fair amount of them in the building, which showed out
- 2:24Speaker 1: to them. That made the trip to Boston definitely was
- 2:27Speaker 1: an exciting one for Buffalo and now they're on the
- 2:29Speaker 1: brink of having the opportunity to move into Round two
- 2:31Speaker 1: on home ice on Tuesday.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, obviously you have to close this out,
- 2:36Speaker 5: but tonight's this afternoon's game was the epitome of kind
- 2:41Speaker 5: of what we've reiterated all on the playoff preview, on
- 2:45Speaker 5: every postgame we've done so far, and it's just quite simply,
- 2:48Speaker 5: the Sabers are the better five on five team, and
- 2:51Speaker 5: tonight was no different. It was the second period. Honestly,
- 2:55Speaker 5: Boston felt like they were sort of tipping the scales
- 2:57Speaker 5: a little bit, but because it was for nothing, it
- 2:59Speaker 5: was kind of hard to stress that much over it.
- 3:03Speaker 5: But all all any stress that could have crept into
- 3:06Speaker 5: your brain was just completely eliminated by the way the
- 3:08Speaker 5: Sabers played that third period, because the first and third
- 3:10Speaker 5: period was just all Buffalo the entire time, and it
- 3:14Speaker 5: honestly was from the jump the first the second, the
- 3:17Speaker 5: puck drop, that just buffalo was on them and they
- 3:20Speaker 5: did not let up. They were relentless on their fore check,
- 3:23Speaker 5: the same exact formula to how Game one went, but
- 3:28Speaker 5: they beat Swayman early, and they beat Swayman often, which
- 3:30Speaker 5: just didn't happen in Game one.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I think the Blade Crew could have beaten that Bruins
- 3:35Speaker 1: team in.
- 3:36Speaker 4: That first period with the way that they looked.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I know a buddy showed up to him who was
- 3:40Speaker 1: at the game Bruins fan, and.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Let's just say he was not pleased without it went.
- 3:44Speaker 1: But you know, I was not expecting them to come
- 3:47Speaker 1: out with a first period like that, to be able
- 3:49Speaker 1: to have such a dominating performance. I know Lindy Ruff
- 3:52Speaker 1: in the off day sort of talked about that game too.
- 3:55Speaker 1: He didn't he didn't really want to come out and
- 3:57Speaker 1: say how bad that they played in the most but
- 4:00Speaker 1: after they responted with that Game three victory, he went
- 4:03Speaker 1: back to Game two and said, we really just didn't
- 4:05Speaker 1: play well in that game and just didn't didn't feel
- 4:08Speaker 1: like they deserve to win. So it seems like ever
- 4:10Speaker 1: since that happened, the Sabers have been a different team,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and they've been able to score obviously in the first period,
- 4:15Speaker 1: which was nice instead of having to wait to score
- 4:18Speaker 1: into the third period like they had been in the
- 4:19Speaker 1: first previous couple of games. But just to me, a
- 4:23Speaker 1: perfect first period on the road that you would want.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And Lindy Ruff as well, we'll hear from him later
- 4:28Speaker 1: on the post game, So that might have been the
- 4:29Speaker 1: best first period they played all season, which is something
- 4:32Speaker 1: to say because they've played a lot of good ones
- 4:33Speaker 1: in the second half.
- 4:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it just it felt different the way
- 4:39Speaker 5: this game started. Like, like I said, from puck drop,
- 4:41Speaker 5: they were in on swimming early. Often there was I
- 4:44Speaker 5: think it was like a minute or two in that
- 4:45Speaker 5: scrum when Tuck and then they thought they scored, but
- 4:48Speaker 5: the net came off and there's like a pile in
- 4:50Speaker 5: front of the net. They were in his grill early
- 4:53Speaker 5: and often they were four checking again, using their speed,
- 4:56Speaker 5: using their four check, not letting Boston draw them into
- 5:00Speaker 5: the bull crap that we know Boston likes to pull.
- 5:02Speaker 5: Even later in the game when Boston tried to kind
- 5:04Speaker 5: of sort of get it going, Buffalo kind of for
- 5:06Speaker 5: the most part, just walked away from it. It was
- 5:08Speaker 5: this wasn't a game where the Bruins could use their
- 5:11Speaker 5: antics to their advantage. This was a game where Buffalo said,
- 5:14Speaker 5: we're gonna play our game, We're gonna do what we
- 5:16Speaker 5: do and nothing you're gonna like, you're just not gonna
- 5:18Speaker 5: be able to stop us. And they were right, it was.
- 5:21Speaker 5: There was nothing the Bruins were gonna do tonight aside
- 5:24Speaker 5: from Swaymen having one of us like a Swayman asque game,
- 5:27Speaker 5: and that didn't happen, and the second that Swaymen got beat.
- 5:31Speaker 5: I mean, obviously it was four nothing after the first period,
- 5:33Speaker 5: but I think you know, once the Dome goal went in,
- 5:37Speaker 5: which hilariously is not a power play goal, even though
- 5:39Speaker 5: it was as the power play expired, once that one
- 5:42Speaker 5: went in, you're like, holy, they got two by Swaymen
- 5:44Speaker 5: in the in the first period. Like that is a
- 5:47Speaker 5: huge relief for the Sabers because not only did they
- 5:50Speaker 5: beat them early, but they gave themselves a cushion. And
- 5:52Speaker 5: like we've been saying, like I've been saying, is the
- 5:54Speaker 5: Sabers score in bunches, and that first period was just
- 5:57Speaker 5: nothing but bunches. And what it takes a lot to
- 6:01Speaker 5: overcome a four gold deficit. The Sabers were in a
- 6:03Speaker 5: four gold deficit in Game two and it's deflating to
- 6:08Speaker 5: be down that early. So I know Boston had some
- 6:10Speaker 5: pushback in that second period, but there was nothing that
- 6:13Speaker 5: they were gonna do that was gonna stop them. And
- 6:15Speaker 5: when Lyon was tested in that second period, he was
- 6:18Speaker 5: up to the task.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Only the Toronto map Leaves can blow that big of
- 6:20Speaker 1: a lead in Boston, so well we'll let them do that.
- 6:23Speaker 4: But sorry, and just a shot there.
- 6:26Speaker 1: But I mean I was talking to myself saying, if
- 6:29Speaker 1: Swayman didn't start this game, it could have been seven
- 6:31Speaker 1: or eight nothing at the end of the first period.
- 6:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, like legitimately, as crazy as it sounds,
- 6:36Speaker 5: I know, he gave up four goals, but like Swaymen,
- 6:39Speaker 5: it could like you said, it could have been more.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Swaveen made some key saves in that first period, Like
- 6:42Speaker 5: I say, he's been their best player. No one from Boston,
- 6:46Speaker 5: like I said, I know, there was push back in
- 6:48Speaker 5: the second period, but no one from Boston really showed up,
- 6:50Speaker 5: no one was threatening. I think it was two shots
- 6:53Speaker 5: by the end of the first period. Maybe they were
- 6:55Speaker 5: credited with a third. I'm not sure, but it was
- 6:57Speaker 5: it was no more than three. I think it was
- 6:58Speaker 5: two plowed four goals. Like yeah, just a demoralizing first
- 7:03Speaker 5: period for the Bruins. And honestly, from a Bruins standpoint,
- 7:07Speaker 5: I'm a little shocked that Swayman was in there at
- 7:09Speaker 5: the second period, not because of anything bad that Swayman did,
- 7:12Speaker 5: but I don't know. I would have pulled him, but
- 7:19Speaker 5: they didn't. And I don't know what he was John
- 7:21Speaker 5: he was John at someone as he got pulled. I
- 7:22Speaker 5: don't know what that was about. I don't know if
- 7:24Speaker 5: he was mad he got pulled, orf he was mad
- 7:25Speaker 5: that he got pulled earlier, if he was just straight
- 7:27Speaker 5: up yelling at the team in front of him, like hey,
- 7:28Speaker 5: help me out here, because there was no help Buffalo.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Like I said, they were on them early and often
- 7:35Speaker 5: in that first period, and that set the tone. And
- 7:39Speaker 5: it basically just again like I said, when this game's
- 7:43Speaker 5: at five on five, the Bruins are not on the
- 7:45Speaker 5: Sabers level.
- 7:46Speaker 4: I think so. I think you're right.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I think Swayman was trying to wake his team up
- 7:49Speaker 1: as he was leaving the ice because they they just
- 7:51Speaker 1: did not show up to play in that first period,
- 7:53Speaker 1: and then the Sabers were all over him. We're not
- 7:55Speaker 1: gonna sit here and talk about the Bruins, but I
- 7:57Speaker 1: did find it interesting that Hagens was not in the
- 7:59Speaker 1: lineup today and they put Rikle in the lineup.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Didn't work.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought that was I thought that was a
- 8:04Speaker 5: that was a tip, like that was a move that
- 8:06Speaker 5: actually probably helped the Sabers out. Because I don't know. Again,
- 8:09Speaker 5: I'm not talking about the Bruins Hagens may have not
- 8:11Speaker 5: produced anything, but Hagens was an annoying player and he
- 8:14Speaker 5: was doing his job properly, so I thought that move
- 8:17Speaker 5: actually made them worse. But yeah, this was just as
- 8:23Speaker 5: demoralizing as Game two was for Buffalo. I think this
- 8:25Speaker 5: game was even doublely demoralizing for the Bruins because there
- 8:29Speaker 5: was no fight back from the Bruins. Say what you want.
- 8:31Speaker 5: I know it was the last six minutes of the
- 8:33Speaker 5: game of Game two, but Buffalo showed some fight back.
- 8:36Speaker 5: Brunes didn't show anything. The closest thing they got to
- 8:39Speaker 5: fight back was Zora being a scub bag and trying
- 8:42Speaker 5: to take Dolly's head off for no reason. Not for
- 8:44Speaker 5: no reason, we know, Dolleds. It gets under your skin.
- 8:46Speaker 5: But like at that point in the game, good for you, Bro.
- 8:51Speaker 1: And for for Boston, Like that was a pivotal game.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Now you go down three to one, Now you go
- 8:55Speaker 1: on the road. You've got to win two road games
- 8:57Speaker 1: and a home game in a row. That's gonna be
- 8:59Speaker 1: tough to do. But yeah, I just I expected a
- 9:02Speaker 1: lot more from that Bruins team. And I don't know
- 9:05Speaker 1: if it was just the Sabers being that good or
- 9:07Speaker 1: the Bruins being that bad or a combination of both,
- 9:09Speaker 1: but that first period was was pretty much all she wrote.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Let's let's quickly touch on the lineup here, Austin and
- 9:16Speaker 1: as I try to switch things around here, just give
- 9:18Speaker 1: me one second.
- 9:19Speaker 4: There we go.
- 9:20Speaker 1: So you know, Norris is still out of the lineup
- 9:22Speaker 1: for Buffalo, Kozak was in there. We're still without Carrick
- 9:26Speaker 1: as well. No changes on the defensive pairs as well.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Timmins has been the sixth defenseman in all four of
- 9:31Speaker 1: the games. Still, No, we haven't seen Mets, so we
- 9:33Speaker 1: haven't seen Castle Ring. We haven't seen Sheen, probably won't
- 9:35Speaker 1: see him ever. But Lion got to start again after
- 9:39Speaker 1: the after the big win in Game three as well.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Anything catch your eye there about any of the lineup?
- 9:44Speaker 5: No, I mean, the lineup being the exact same is
- 9:47Speaker 5: the way it should be. There's no reason to even
- 9:49Speaker 5: try and ticker with it. I mean, we'll obviously we'll
- 9:54Speaker 5: get into it when we talk about Lenny Rush's postgame
- 9:58Speaker 5: Glad to hear that seems like co Zach and Zucker
- 10:00Speaker 5: are fine, because obviously one of those two going out
- 10:02Speaker 5: would me a lineup change has to happen. But I
- 10:05Speaker 5: just think the way this lineup is constructed, adding in
- 10:07Speaker 5: a guy like Kozak and Oaceland nothing against Norris had Done,
- 10:11Speaker 5: because Norris and Done are also pretty quick skaters, but
- 10:14Speaker 5: like these are just two quicker, more relentless guys on
- 10:18Speaker 5: the fore check. And that's basically been the formula for
- 10:20Speaker 5: the Sabers all series is when their fore check is
- 10:22Speaker 5: going and they're not trying to, you know, run you
- 10:26Speaker 5: through the boards. Not that's the same. They're not physical,
- 10:29Speaker 5: because they are physical, but when they're not purposely trying
- 10:31Speaker 5: to run you through the boards, when they're just on
- 10:33Speaker 5: you at their forecheck and they're just like that Bensing
- 10:36Speaker 5: goal was perfect, perfect example what I'm talking about. Doan
- 10:40Speaker 5: forces a turnover because he's just hounding the puck carrier.
- 10:43Speaker 5: Benson grabs the puck, takes it to net scores. That's
- 10:45Speaker 5: the mentality that they have and the way this lineup
- 10:48Speaker 5: is constructed. Nothing again, nothing against Norris and Done. I
- 10:51Speaker 5: think Oceland Kozak are better suited to play that style
- 10:56Speaker 5: than those two are. We'll have to see what happens
- 10:59Speaker 5: when Norris is health because, like we talked about after
- 11:02Speaker 5: the postgame, rough did say, day to day. We don't
- 11:04Speaker 5: know if it's a typical when your rough day to
- 11:06Speaker 5: day or if it's a real day to day. But
- 11:08Speaker 5: if it truly is day to day, Norris is coming
- 11:10Speaker 5: back in and I don't know, things can happen. But
- 11:14Speaker 5: through two games, there's no reason to break up that
- 11:17Speaker 5: Benson Oaceland Don't line because yet again they were your
- 11:20Speaker 5: most effective line today.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Are you gonna put Josh Norris on the fourth line?
- 11:25Speaker 5: I mean, the other option is crabs, But look at
- 11:29Speaker 5: we talked about who's a breakout player who's gonna cement
- 11:31Speaker 5: themselves as a reputation player in this playoffs and not
- 11:33Speaker 5: one of us obviously mentioned Peyton Krabbs. The dude has
- 11:35Speaker 5: five points in four games.
- 11:38Speaker 4: And he scored the opening goal tonight and got what
- 11:39Speaker 4: I'm saying.
- 11:40Speaker 5: It's not like because my go to was always just
- 11:42Speaker 5: put him at the fourth line center. That's the role
- 11:44Speaker 5: he's comfortable with. I'm one of his biggest supporters. No
- 11:47Speaker 5: way I could have seen him being an elite playoff
- 11:48Speaker 5: performer and that's what he's been through four games. Yeah,
- 11:51Speaker 5: But I honestly, it's a question of where do you
- 11:54Speaker 5: put Norris when he's back, because I don't think you
- 11:56Speaker 5: can break that line up.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Either six defenseman Josh Norris, but like he's a perfect
- 12:02Speaker 1: compliment to Thompson and Tuck right like on that top line,
- 12:04Speaker 1: Like he he's perfect, Like you think of guys like
- 12:07Speaker 1: Benson and Doan that sort of do that the same
- 12:09Speaker 1: type of job that Krebs does, right, and he gets
- 12:12Speaker 1: rewarded tonight with the opening goal, which we'll get into.
- 12:14Speaker 1: But it's like it's a great problem to have if
- 12:17Speaker 1: Norris is back, But at the same time, it's like,
- 12:19Speaker 1: then then you don't really want to change up any
- 12:21Speaker 1: of the three lines because they've they've all been been good,
- 12:23Speaker 1: and even the fourth line, you know, with Kozak in
- 12:25Speaker 1: there and Done moved in for one game as well.
- 12:28Speaker 1: You know, if Krrick was healthy, he'd be the fourth
- 12:30Speaker 1: line center. So there's a lot of jockeying for position
- 12:33Speaker 1: right now in that forward group. But again, it's a
- 12:35Speaker 1: good problem to have other than saying, you know what,
- 12:38Speaker 1: guy from Rochester are gonna have to try to throw
- 12:40Speaker 1: into a playoff game like this, like the Sabers, they're
- 12:43Speaker 1: in a good problem to have.
- 12:44Speaker 5: I think, yeah, And like I said, like the last
- 12:47Speaker 5: two games this lineup is not a single forward in
- 12:52Speaker 5: this group has really stuck out as like a negative.
- 12:57Speaker 5: I mean, the fourth line kind of got their teeth
- 12:58Speaker 5: caved in a little bit today, But what do you
- 13:02Speaker 5: expect right like you're up for nothing. You kind of
- 13:05Speaker 5: just that second period, it felt like everyone on the
- 13:08Speaker 5: Sabers kind of just went into shell mode. But they
- 13:10Speaker 5: quickly turned it around. So I mean, there is probably
- 13:14Speaker 5: that is probably the tweak is we're moving one of
- 13:16Speaker 5: those players when Norris is healthy. But as for right now,
- 13:18Speaker 5: like you said, these this is a good problem to
- 13:20Speaker 5: have when you're talking about where it is your eight
- 13:23Speaker 5: million dollar projected second line center fit into the lineup
- 13:27Speaker 5: when when he's healthy.
- 13:29Speaker 1: The Sabers power play is something that continues to despite
- 13:32Speaker 1: it being approaches. Is they've got zero goals on seventeen
- 13:37Speaker 1: power play attempts in the fourteen game or in the
- 13:40Speaker 1: four games, excuse me, but they have fifteen goals. So
- 13:43Speaker 1: I know that there was a change today. We saw
- 13:46Speaker 1: Jack Quinn get moved to the second lineup of the
- 13:48Speaker 1: power play. We saw as Oaceland Get moved up to
- 13:51Speaker 1: the top unit as the other defenseman with Dahline on
- 13:54Speaker 1: that unit with the four forwards, it still continues to
- 13:57Speaker 1: be over. I know technically the second unit scored right
- 14:00Speaker 1: as the power play came to an end with Josh done,
- 14:03Speaker 1: but again, what do you see in there? And and
- 14:06Speaker 1: again the second the second unit looked better to me. Again,
- 14:09Speaker 1: and we've been saying that unfortunately for a while.
- 14:12Speaker 5: Yeah. I saw a tweet two days ago from twenty
- 14:18Speaker 5: three Sabers on Twitter, and this tweet blew my mind.
- 14:21Speaker 5: This is about the Sabers power play in the month
- 14:23Speaker 5: of April. They are second in power play expected goals
- 14:27Speaker 5: for that means they're generating the second best in terms
- 14:30Speaker 5: of quality on the power play, which just does not compute.
- 14:33Speaker 5: But they are in the month of April and they're over. Yeah,
- 14:40Speaker 5: they're over. And I like the idea of adding Ocelan
- 14:43Speaker 5: to this top line. Like I said, McLeod to Doan
- 14:47Speaker 5: was a great pass by McLeod. It's hilarious that that
- 14:50Speaker 5: doesn't count as a power play goal just to continue
- 14:54Speaker 5: that street because it was basically as soon as the
- 14:56Speaker 5: power play expired. Much like Game three, I thought there
- 15:00Speaker 5: were bright spots like it definitely felt like it was
- 15:04Speaker 5: a little bit better, but it's just those like we
- 15:07Speaker 5: say it all the time when it's bad, it looks
- 15:10Speaker 5: like pee wee level hockey, Like it's the same thing. So,
- 15:16Speaker 5: I mean, just it feels like one of those things
- 15:17Speaker 5: where until they break through, it's we're probably gonna deal
- 15:21Speaker 5: with us, and then once they break through, maybe the
- 15:23Speaker 5: one a little bit of a tear. Quite funny that
- 15:26Speaker 5: the only goal they gave up was a shorthanded goal.
- 15:27Speaker 5: It's like the power play. The power play was on
- 15:30Speaker 5: the ice when they got scored on, which is just
- 15:32Speaker 5: so Sabers.
- 15:33Speaker 4: And poor Alex Lyon.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Yeah, the Ryan Miller, the Ryan Miller shut out today.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and and Lindy Ruff was not happy about that
- 15:40Speaker 1: they weren't able to kind of close that o for
- 15:41Speaker 1: him in the final minute. Just you know, you're they're
- 15:44Speaker 1: short handed to five minute power play. Yeah, the Bruins
- 15:47Speaker 1: have mailed it in and you can't even finish off
- 15:48Speaker 1: with the shutout.
- 15:49Speaker 5: But yeah, if you're gonna nitpick and me upset about something,
- 15:51Speaker 5: I don't blame Lindy Like at that point, Lion probably
- 15:53Speaker 5: earned the shutout, especially the way he's played his two starts.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Pretty wild that that's what we're complaining about. Is uh
- 15:58Speaker 1: broken in the last forty second. But let's move forward
- 16:02Speaker 1: here quickly go over the game stats tonight, brought to
- 16:04Speaker 1: you by J and L Flooring. If you can get
- 16:05Speaker 1: a better deal anywhere else you don't know Jack, check
- 16:07Speaker 1: them out at channel flooring dot com or visit their
- 16:10Speaker 1: Nagra Falls location to being a quality flooring project. Today,
- 16:13Speaker 1: let's quickly go over the scoring summary. Shots on NET
- 16:17Speaker 1: thirty five twenty four in favor of the Sabers in
- 16:21Speaker 1: that first period. It was it was pretty wild the
- 16:23Speaker 1: Sabers being able to have I think the shot attempts.
- 16:26Speaker 4: At one point we're twenty one to four in favor
- 16:28Speaker 4: of Buffalo.
- 16:30Speaker 1: The shots were eleven to two when the when the
- 16:31Speaker 1: Bruins called their time out, and it was three nothing
- 16:33Speaker 1: at that point. So just just craziness from the Sabers
- 16:36Speaker 1: on that end. And they're still they were zero of
- 16:40Speaker 1: thirty six shots in the first period coming in. They
- 16:43Speaker 1: got four on nineteen in the first period today, So
- 16:46Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of great stuff there as
- 16:48Speaker 1: far as the shots there. You can see the giveaways,
- 16:51Speaker 1: the takeaways, everything there, anything that sticks out to you
- 16:55Speaker 1: there from from your always favorite the game stats.
- 16:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean at the first period, like I said,
- 17:02Speaker 5: was just straight up dominant. Like if you look natural
- 17:04Speaker 5: Statric has the five on five shot attempts at thirty
- 17:09Speaker 5: two four for the Sabers and thirteen thirteen against, which
- 17:13Speaker 5: is a seventy one percent shot share or shot attempt share,
- 17:16Speaker 5: and I should say, which is just crazy. Like again,
- 17:21Speaker 5: aside from Game two, it felt like the Sabers started
- 17:23Speaker 5: strong in three of the four games and they were
- 17:25Speaker 5: just not rewarded in the first you know, games one
- 17:28Speaker 5: and three, and tonight they were rewarded four times. So
- 17:32Speaker 5: it kind of felt like they hit it like tonight
- 17:34Speaker 5: more than ever. They earned it because that first period
- 17:36Speaker 5: was arguably one of the best periods of hockey they
- 17:38Speaker 5: played in a long time. And for it to be
- 17:44Speaker 5: you know, nothing like Tuck ended up getting on the
- 17:46Speaker 5: scoreboard page, had a good game, but for all the
- 17:49Speaker 5: goal scorers to be you know, a guy like Krebs,
- 17:52Speaker 5: Done Benson, a Byron who's been on a tear and
- 17:54Speaker 5: then now I's teining like those guys scoring five and
- 17:57Speaker 5: the six goals like that is huge. And if it's
- 18:01Speaker 5: something that continues to happen throughout the rest of this
- 18:04Speaker 5: playoff run, like, the Sabers are gonna be a really
- 18:06Speaker 5: hard team to play against, because we've said it before.
- 18:10Speaker 5: They're getting these with Tage Thompson only scored in the
- 18:13Speaker 5: first game. You know, Tucks had a couple of goals
- 18:16Speaker 5: here and there, but for the larger like, for the
- 18:18Speaker 5: most part, it's been their their depth helping them out here,
- 18:22Speaker 5: and that's the formula for a successful playoff run.
- 18:25Speaker 4: And they went into a shell.
- 18:26Speaker 1: As you kind of mentioned that second period they got
- 18:28Speaker 1: a shot ten four, but other than that they pretty
- 18:30Speaker 1: much dominated the game. They scored two goals in the
- 18:33Speaker 1: third period as well. So you know, you can look
- 18:36Speaker 1: at the face off percentage. It went to Boston. They
- 18:38Speaker 1: won forty of sixty draws. But we know the Sabers
- 18:40Speaker 1: have been a bad face off team minus Sam Carrick
- 18:43Speaker 1: all season long, so it's nothing new. And despite that,
- 18:46Speaker 1: and despite the power play being what it is, they're
- 18:50Speaker 1: still winning games. So again we can nippick little things
- 18:53Speaker 1: here and there, but we'll move forward to the scoring summary.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Brought to you by the Nagra Remployment Help Center helping
- 18:58Speaker 1: people find work in the Naga region nineteen eighty three.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Checkout throughout the day job board at EHC dot and
- 19:02Speaker 1: DOTC to find your next work opportunity today. And yeah,
- 19:06Speaker 1: as we mentioned on the open, Peyton Crabs gets the
- 19:08Speaker 1: opening goal four to seventeen mark at the first period.
- 19:10Speaker 1: On the turnover again, the Sabers create a takeaway on
- 19:15Speaker 1: the Bruins turnover with the puck on their stick, they're
- 19:17Speaker 1: able to get that near the blue line. Thompson tuck
- 19:20Speaker 1: creates that finds Thompson and he goes in on the
- 19:23Speaker 1: two on one and you want taatee Thompson shooting more
- 19:25Speaker 1: times than not in that scenario, but he passes off
- 19:28Speaker 1: to Peyton Crabs and makes no mistake to beat Jeremy Swayman.
- 19:31Speaker 4: And what a start on the road for the Sabers
- 19:33Speaker 4: to get the lead.
- 19:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess said, just an all round great play
- 19:37Speaker 5: like that's the that just goes to show you the
- 19:39Speaker 5: four check, right, the four check put pressure on the
- 19:41Speaker 5: boss' team. They forced the turnover. Crabs gets to puck
- 19:43Speaker 5: on the slot and you know, getting nitpicky for a
- 19:48Speaker 5: team that loves to overpass. And the guy who gets
- 19:50Speaker 5: this puck on the stick and missault like that. Peyton
- 19:52Speaker 5: Creb is not known as a shooter There's just a
- 19:54Speaker 5: great shot, a great finish by him, and he's, like
- 19:57Speaker 5: I said, he's he's been on a tear these playoffs.
- 19:59Speaker 5: Kind of of like I said, Tage hasn't scored since
- 20:03Speaker 5: the second game, but he's had an impact each and
- 20:05Speaker 5: every game, saying with Tuck, Tuck's been getting on the
- 20:07Speaker 5: score sheet though. But just a great way for the
- 20:10Speaker 5: first line to kind of set the tone and open
- 20:11Speaker 5: up with the scoring here, because it it was it
- 20:17Speaker 5: had a snowball effect, like the way that they were
- 20:19Speaker 5: playing early on truly did have a snowball effect. And
- 20:22Speaker 5: I think the first three shifts by that line, there
- 20:25Speaker 5: was quality chances on every single time that line stepped
- 20:27Speaker 5: on the ice. So all around, great goal and just
- 20:30Speaker 5: goes to show that the Sabers playing their style. You know,
- 20:36Speaker 5: people called it river hockey, whatever the heck do you
- 20:38Speaker 5: want to call it. That's the way they play all year.
- 20:41Speaker 5: We use our four check, We forced you into crappy
- 20:44Speaker 5: spots and we take the punk away from you and
- 20:46Speaker 5: then we finish. Granted, Peyton Crebs is the guy I
- 20:48Speaker 5: expect to score from the slot there, but that's what
- 20:50Speaker 5: the Sabers do.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I think that was the sixth goal already in the series,
- 20:53Speaker 1: where the Bruins had the puck on their stick and
- 20:54Speaker 1: the Sabers created the turnover, and we're able to get
- 20:57Speaker 1: a goal when the Bruins were trying to break out
- 20:59Speaker 1: like it's been. It's been a relentless fore check by
- 21:01Speaker 1: the Sabers and the Bruns haven't been able to handle it.
- 21:04Speaker 5: No, they honestly can't. And I we said in our
- 21:07Speaker 5: playoff preview, I thought that's five on five. The Savers
- 21:10Speaker 5: were the better team. I didn't think it was gonna
- 21:12Speaker 5: be as lopsided as it has been so far this
- 21:14Speaker 5: series in terms of five on five. But just shows
- 21:19Speaker 5: right here why don't feel like the Bruns are a
- 21:22Speaker 5: good team. I'm not saying anything bad about the Bruns
- 21:23Speaker 5: at all. This series as far from over, but it
- 21:25Speaker 5: goes to show why the Bruns were a wild card
- 21:26Speaker 5: team compared to the Sabers who were the division winner.
- 21:30Speaker 1: And then Josh Stone just continues to be a dog.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Took a massive hit open ice, looked like but made
- 21:35Speaker 1: sure he was okay. Luckily he was just shook it
- 21:38Speaker 1: up a little bit, goes back out there, hits Tanner,
- 21:40Speaker 1: Janeau knocks him over and then as we mentioned earlier,
- 21:42Speaker 1: the second unit comes through late on the power play
- 21:44Speaker 1: as it expired. You know, great pass from the from
- 21:48Speaker 1: the wall from from a cloud finding Josh Doone going
- 21:51Speaker 1: right to the net, going hard into the crease and
- 21:53Speaker 1: redirects that one in past Jeremy Swayman to make a
- 21:57Speaker 1: two nothing buffalo and wow, like just just a relentless
- 22:01Speaker 1: shift from Josh Stone. And we've seen that all season
- 22:03Speaker 1: long from him. But that's why he's such a fan
- 22:05Speaker 1: favorite with not only the fan base, but also the
- 22:07Speaker 1: guys on that bench and.
- 22:09Speaker 5: On that goal. You know, like two guys don't getting
- 22:12Speaker 5: the goal and the Cloud getting getting a point there.
- 22:14Speaker 5: I think we're two guys that absolutely have earned it.
- 22:17Speaker 5: The way they played these playoffs. I think, you know,
- 22:19Speaker 5: Doanes had some doones, had some highs and lows. This year.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Mostly it's been good, but there has been there's been
- 22:25Speaker 5: a couple of stretches where he was quiet there. But
- 22:27Speaker 5: to see that type of shift that just perfectly encapsulate
- 22:30Speaker 5: what Doan is and why the Sabers love him and
- 22:32Speaker 5: why fans have become so endeared by him because he
- 22:36Speaker 5: is just as Zach Benson says, a dog on a
- 22:39Speaker 5: bone and for him get to the front of the net.
- 22:41Speaker 5: You know that was Charlie knackeboy covering him too at
- 22:43Speaker 5: the front of the net, and he's able to tip
- 22:45Speaker 5: that puck by Swayon, which is huge. And McLeod getting
- 22:47Speaker 5: the assist, I think is big because he's earned it.
- 22:49Speaker 5: He's been really effective in these playoffs. He's been he's
- 22:52Speaker 5: one of Buffalo's best setup guys, one of the best
- 22:54Speaker 5: peer passers. So two guys that earned it there. And
- 22:59Speaker 5: like I said, when you go from it being a
- 23:02Speaker 5: team that is not scored in the first period to
- 23:04Speaker 5: getting two, that's huge. That goal probably would have been
- 23:08Speaker 5: nice if it was two seconds earlier and it actually
- 23:10Speaker 5: counted as a power play goal, get that proverbial monkey
- 23:12Speaker 5: off the back, but it wasn't. But honestly, it's funnier
- 23:16Speaker 5: this way, and it's just couldn't have happened. Like you said,
- 23:20Speaker 5: the way that mackaboy kind of took done out for
- 23:22Speaker 5: Doan to be able to come back and get that
- 23:24Speaker 5: tip with macaboy, all of them kind of poetic in
- 23:26Speaker 5: a way.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Yeah, And I mean for McLoud you had talked about
- 23:29Speaker 1: him being one of the sabers better players through the
- 23:31Speaker 1: first three games, he just hadn't shown up on the
- 23:33Speaker 1: score sheet. But that was a perfect encapsulation of what
- 23:36Speaker 1: he can do and why the second unit's been looked
- 23:39Speaker 1: a lot better because number seventy one has been the
- 23:41Speaker 1: center on that unit. So when you've got Josh Done
- 23:44Speaker 1: and Zach Benson as the wingers on that power play man,
- 23:47Speaker 1: those guys are going to be pesky around the net,
- 23:49Speaker 1: and Josh Done was the recipient of that one to
- 23:52Speaker 1: make it two nothing Buffalo. And then, just when you
- 23:54Speaker 1: thought it couldn't get any better or worse if you're
- 23:56Speaker 1: a Burns fan, Benson and doan on the Ford check.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Shocker there, Benson goes to four hand backhand and the
- 24:03Speaker 1: puck goes five hole on Swayman to make it three
- 24:05Speaker 1: to nothing, but Buffalo. Boston calls their timeout and at
- 24:08Speaker 1: that point shots are eleven to two Buffalo and they're
- 24:10Speaker 1: up three to nothing.
- 24:12Speaker 5: Speaking of relentless four checking, speaking of dogs on a bone,
- 24:15Speaker 5: this has kind of been the theory with Benson and Done.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Not theory. This has been the theme with Benson and
- 24:19Speaker 5: Don all year long. This is what they do. Don't
- 24:22Speaker 5: relentless backtrack four check because it was in the offensive zone,
- 24:25Speaker 5: but prevents Boston from breaking out because he's hounding the
- 24:29Speaker 5: puck carrier. Benson picks up the puck, takes it right
- 24:31Speaker 5: to the front of the net. He gets by a
- 24:34Speaker 5: sway man. Honestly, I think again the broadcast made it
- 24:37Speaker 5: seem more questionable than it was. But when Stern called
- 24:40Speaker 5: the time out, like the broadcast on teen, he kind
- 24:42Speaker 5: of made it seem like he was thinking, oh, do
- 24:43Speaker 5: we got to take a look at this challenge here?
- 24:46Speaker 5: There was no need that was just straight up, we're
- 24:48Speaker 5: getting our teeth kicked in and I need to call
- 24:49Speaker 5: it time out. And honestly, like I said, how Doan
- 24:52Speaker 5: and McLeod deserved a reward? Benson is one hundred percent
- 24:55Speaker 5: of a guy who also deserves a reward for you know,
- 24:58Speaker 5: he has been that pain in the ass all series long.
- 25:01Speaker 5: He can tell he's already under the skin of the Bruins.
- 25:03Speaker 5: And for him to get that goal and also be like, hey,
- 25:05Speaker 5: not only am I going to agitate you, I'm going
- 25:08Speaker 5: to bury you by putting the puck in the back
- 25:10Speaker 5: of the net. Huge moment for Benson and one of
- 25:13Speaker 5: the like Doan Benson should absolutely be a fan favorite.
- 25:17Speaker 5: I think he's more becoming a fan favorite. I think
- 25:18Speaker 5: it took some time for people to come around on
- 25:21Speaker 5: him because he's so small and the production wasn't there.
- 25:24Speaker 5: He's the type of kid that is built for the
- 25:25Speaker 5: playoffs with his play style, and pairing him up with
- 25:28Speaker 5: a winger like Josh Dolt, who plays in an exact
- 25:29Speaker 5: similar style is just a match made in heaven. And
- 25:32Speaker 5: for them to combine on that goal and for both
- 25:34Speaker 5: of them to have the games that they had today.
- 25:37Speaker 5: Love to see that.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Zach Benson's easily becoming my favorite Buffalo Saber, not just
- 25:40Speaker 1: because he's a shorter player. Got to love those short
- 25:43Speaker 1: guys that have no fear, and not just because he
- 25:45Speaker 1: has the same last name as my favorite NASCAR driver.
- 25:47Speaker 1: He's been fantastic and maybe that number change from nine
- 25:50Speaker 1: to six some more jerseys.
- 25:53Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 25:53Speaker 5: I still hate that, but the kids, the kid's working
- 25:56Speaker 5: at it.
- 25:56Speaker 1: So yeah, And isn't it poetic that the Sabers are
- 25:59Speaker 1: sort of developing their own Brad Marshan here in this series,
- 26:01Speaker 1: when the Bruins obviously have had Brad Marshan, you know,
- 26:05Speaker 1: being a menace to other teams for the last decade
- 26:07Speaker 1: and a half.
- 26:08Speaker 5: One hundred percent. He's he just you could just tell
- 26:10Speaker 5: with that dopey smile he's got every time there's a scrub,
- 26:13Speaker 5: it's it's so frustrated. It's frustrating to watch. But thank
- 26:15Speaker 5: got him a Sabers fan because I'm like, yeah, that
- 26:17Speaker 5: would piss me off too.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he wants to be hated and bowed in thirty
- 26:21Speaker 1: one other buildings. I love that mentality from Zach Benson.
- 26:24Speaker 1: But then shot attempts twenty one to four. At that point,
- 26:27Speaker 1: Swayman comes up with a massive cross crease save on
- 26:30Speaker 1: Benson that made it for nothing. That was, you know,
- 26:33Speaker 1: Swayman's best save of the night. But then just shortly
- 26:36Speaker 1: after the Sabers four check, once again, Byron takes the
- 26:39Speaker 1: cross crease pass and fires it from the left circle
- 26:41Speaker 1: for nothing. Buffalo Boston has two shots as Brought and
- 26:46Speaker 1: Quinn were sort of tied up beside the net. The
- 26:48Speaker 1: Bruins were sort of arguing that at first, but it
- 26:51Speaker 1: was I mean, if Swayman was mad at anybody, should
- 26:54Speaker 1: be mad at his own guy, because he shoved himself
- 26:56Speaker 1: in to Jeremy Swayman, He's what shoved them, Jack Quinn
- 27:00Speaker 1: and I should say, and it's four nothing Buffalo at
- 27:02Speaker 1: that point, and uh wow, just what a dream start.
- 27:05Speaker 1: And and TD Gardens was was a library tonight?
- 27:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it was. It was interesting because a
- 27:11Speaker 5: part of me did panic for a little bit after,
- 27:12Speaker 5: you know, Stir making the comments after last game, like
- 27:15Speaker 5: all the Sabers are hacking Swaymen and all that stuff.
- 27:17Speaker 5: And when I saw Swayman kind of get tied up
- 27:19Speaker 5: and had to dive across when the goal went in,
- 27:21Speaker 5: I was like, why did Swayvemn fall? And then once
- 27:24Speaker 5: they showed the replay and it was clearly because of
- 27:25Speaker 5: the Bruins guy, I was like, Okay, there's nothing to
- 27:27Speaker 5: worry about. But Bo and Biram, I mean, what else
- 27:31Speaker 5: can you say about the way him and Op? But
- 27:34Speaker 5: Byron is a step above Ope right now. But the
- 27:37Speaker 5: like Byron has been might might be a stretch to
- 27:42Speaker 5: say the best player from the Sabers of these playoffs,
- 27:45Speaker 5: but it's definitely not a stretch to say he's been
- 27:47Speaker 5: the best defenseman and the points are coming and it's
- 27:49Speaker 5: the way everything else is producing. But Byron is a
- 27:52Speaker 5: guy that looks like he's been on a Cup run before,
- 27:55Speaker 5: and that's huge for Buffalo because he's he's been awesome.
- 27:59Speaker 1: We're seeing glynn Is of the Colorado Bowen Byrom when
- 28:02Speaker 1: they went on that Cup run, right and you know
- 28:04Speaker 1: when when Byron came here, you know, interestingly enough for
- 28:07Speaker 1: Casey Middlestat, who's now playing on the Bruins in the series.
- 28:10Speaker 1: You know, there were times where that Bowen Byram might
- 28:14Speaker 1: have not been a Saber. There was trade talks, you know,
- 28:16Speaker 1: at the end of in the summer last year, and
- 28:19Speaker 1: was he going to be a long term solution for
- 28:21Speaker 1: this team. But he's really picked it up and it's been,
- 28:24Speaker 1: as you mentioned, probably the Sabers' most effective offensive defenseman
- 28:27Speaker 1: in the series, you know, just you know, breaking records
- 28:30Speaker 1: as well or tying records, I should say for for
- 28:33Speaker 1: Sabers defenseman. I'm gonna pull that up right here for
- 28:36Speaker 1: you guys watching on on video. You guys are listening along,
- 28:39Speaker 1: I'll read it off to you. You know, players with
- 28:42Speaker 1: points in the first well, I guess I didn't have
- 28:45Speaker 1: Bowen Byrom's up here. But Byron's goal makes him the
- 28:47Speaker 1: only skater in franchise history to register and assist in
- 28:51Speaker 1: his first four games of their playoff career. So wow,
- 28:55Speaker 1: just uh, you know, I guess that's an own power
- 28:58Speaker 1: stat so I'm messing up here. But the Peyton Krebs
- 29:01Speaker 1: stat as well, Sabers players with a point in each
- 29:03Speaker 1: of the first four career playoff games Danny Gahre and
- 29:05Speaker 1: Peyton Krebs. So just u crazy to see some of
- 29:08Speaker 1: these Sabers coming through with the accolades that they've had
- 29:10Speaker 1: so far in four games.
- 29:12Speaker 5: Yeah, one hundred percent. And I'm really happy for Power too,
- 29:14Speaker 5: because I know he's obviously a very polarizing player. I've
- 29:20Speaker 5: I've liked him a lot in these playoffs. I know,
- 29:22Speaker 5: maybe a game one or two, they're Game two, no
- 29:24Speaker 5: one really everybody was bad. Just it is what it is.
- 29:27Speaker 5: But for the most part, from a broad standpoint, I've
- 29:30Speaker 5: really liked Power in these playoffs. Like I've said that,
- 29:33Speaker 5: I think him and Byron have been their best pair.
- 29:34Speaker 5: They should be the number one pair of the way
- 29:35Speaker 5: that they're playing right now. So for Byron to step
- 29:38Speaker 5: up the way he is and kind of Power to
- 29:40Speaker 5: be producing the way he has been producing is huge
- 29:44Speaker 5: for them. Like we know their defense is they're bread
- 29:46Speaker 5: and butter, especially that top four, And I think I
- 29:51Speaker 5: thought power was really good this year. The production just
- 29:53Speaker 5: didn't meet how good he played, in my opinion, and
- 29:55Speaker 5: through four games in the playoffs he's producing I think,
- 29:58Speaker 5: you know, a couple of times throughout these he could
- 30:00Speaker 5: have had a goal. Unfortunately, he's just not a really
- 30:02Speaker 5: good shooter, doesn't have a hard shot. He would be
- 30:04Speaker 5: the first one to say that. We all know that.
- 30:08Speaker 5: But I think he's been really affected and playing with
- 30:09Speaker 5: Byram has has taken has really allowed him to kind
- 30:12Speaker 5: of flow freely in these playoffs. And just like I
- 30:16Speaker 5: said earlier, none of us had Krebs as a as
- 30:18Speaker 5: a guy who's going to break out and make an
- 30:20Speaker 5: impact these playoffs, and he's on the score sheet. He's
- 30:22Speaker 5: been one of their most impactful forwards.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And then getting quickly back to the rest of the game, here,
- 30:27Speaker 1: Arbitson took a hit. He didn't return for the Bruins,
- 30:30Speaker 1: who's been one of their more effective forwards in the series.
- 30:33Speaker 1: So that's obviously a big loss for them going forward.
- 30:36Speaker 1: No scoring in the second period. Third period, the Sabers
- 30:39Speaker 1: got goals for Malenstein and Talk just about a minute
- 30:43Speaker 1: apart to make it six nothing.
- 30:44Speaker 4: I don't know if you want to mention anything.
- 30:46Speaker 1: About those two goals, but it was four nothing at
- 30:48Speaker 1: that point.
- 30:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, just with the mallenstangle. Just in general,
- 30:51Speaker 5: the way that that line played Game three and the
- 30:54Speaker 5: way they played game four, good for them to see
- 30:57Speaker 5: them get rewarded and on the score sheet because they
- 30:59Speaker 5: definitely earned it it. Like I said, they were a
- 31:02Speaker 5: lot better in game three than they were tonight. But
- 31:03Speaker 5: for a guy like beck Bellenstein, who also has become
- 31:07Speaker 5: a fan favorite with the way the style that he
- 31:08Speaker 5: plays for all like the shop blocking work that he does,
- 31:11Speaker 5: the physicality that he brings, the penalty kill work that
- 31:13Speaker 5: he does, for him to get rewarded with a playoff
- 31:15Speaker 5: goal definitely good for them. And then, just like I said, Tuck,
- 31:17Speaker 5: that top line has been awesome and you know, aside
- 31:24Speaker 5: from like a they're doing more than just scoring, which
- 31:29Speaker 5: is really good. But it's also good for a game
- 31:31Speaker 5: like today to see you know, all of them get
- 31:33Speaker 5: a point because Tage didn't get a point on the
- 31:36Speaker 5: first goal, but he did get an assist on the tuckle.
- 31:37Speaker 5: So to see all three of your top line get
- 31:40Speaker 5: on the score sheet in a big win is huge
- 31:42Speaker 5: because much like you know, the theme of this episode
- 31:46Speaker 5: is these guys earned it, and that feels like the
- 31:48Speaker 5: way that Tage has been playing. He set the tone
- 31:50Speaker 5: in game one and he's been doing everything. So for
- 31:54Speaker 5: him to continue to produce points and a guy like
- 31:56Speaker 5: Tuck to score is big. We'll see what it means
- 32:00Speaker 5: Tuck's contract demands because a big playoff run from him
- 32:02Speaker 5: could have an impact on that, as we know, but
- 32:05Speaker 5: that's talk for another day right now. It's just good
- 32:08Speaker 5: to see literally fowards one through twelve producing.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean six different goal scorers tonight for the
- 32:15Speaker 1: Sabers and just the rest of the notes that I
- 32:17Speaker 1: had for tonight's game, Kozak and Zucker. As we'll hear
- 32:20Speaker 1: Lindy Russ say later, they both left the game, but
- 32:22Speaker 1: more for precautionary reasons that neither of them came back.
- 32:25Speaker 1: If it was a close game, we might have seen
- 32:27Speaker 1: forty eight and seventeen back on the bench. Danny Gear
- 32:29Speaker 1: had points in seven straight playoff games. He's now Byram
- 32:33Speaker 1: and Owen power now up to four, so they're creeping
- 32:36Speaker 1: up to Danny Gear for Sabers history in that sense
- 32:39Speaker 1: pretty crazy that two Sabers are trying to catch a
- 32:42Speaker 1: franchise legend like that in the same playoff run, and
- 32:45Speaker 1: then just that stupid penalty from the Zadorov in the game. Like,
- 32:49Speaker 1: if I'm a Bruins fan, I'm really mad about that,
- 32:51Speaker 1: whether he gets suspended or not. To take a five
- 32:53Speaker 1: minute major with less than three minutes left in the game.
- 32:55Speaker 1: I know you want to make a statement for the
- 32:56Speaker 1: next game, but cross check and Dhalen in the back
- 32:58Speaker 1: and taking a five minute major is not going to
- 33:00Speaker 1: help anybody on your team.
- 33:03Speaker 5: I don't even know if that was about making a statement.
- 33:05Speaker 5: I think that was just a door off being Si
- 33:07Speaker 5: door off, you know what I mean, Like I don't.
- 33:11Speaker 5: It's the NHL, so I'm not gonna sit here and
- 33:13Speaker 5: expect any supplemental discipline on the flip side. Also, wouldn't
- 33:17Speaker 5: be surprised if if there was but just a boneheaded play.
- 33:21Speaker 5: I know earlier in the third period, Castilick kind of
- 33:25Speaker 5: felt like he was going to try and get something
- 33:26Speaker 5: going to He was kind of john. They were a
- 33:29Speaker 5: little bit of a dust up there. Nothing ever happened,
- 33:31Speaker 5: but that zador Off moment was the only moment where
- 33:35Speaker 5: like it was like the Bruins are trying to be
- 33:38Speaker 5: the Bruins, and at that point in the game, it
- 33:40Speaker 5: was so late in the game and the game was
- 33:41Speaker 5: so out of hand, it was just like, Okay, cool,
- 33:46Speaker 5: he's That's just who he is, right, Like, honestly, the
- 33:50Speaker 5: way the Door has played these playoffs. Don't want him suspended.
- 33:52Speaker 5: I want him in the lineup because he hasn't been good.
- 33:54Speaker 4: It's almost like he's still playing for the Buffalo Sabers.
- 33:57Speaker 5: Yeah, he's helping Buffalo a lot. Yeah, glad to see
- 34:01Speaker 5: nothing actually bad came out of that, Like Dollings, Fine,
- 34:04Speaker 5: was it Janou who hacked Tuck over the back of
- 34:06Speaker 5: the legs late earlier the third period? Two, Like you know,
- 34:10Speaker 5: I mean, a couple of dumb things like that, but
- 34:12Speaker 5: nothing totally out of hand. It's just one, it's playoff hockey.
- 34:17Speaker 5: You kind of see this type of stuff happen all
- 34:19Speaker 5: the time. And two, this is who the Bruins are.
- 34:20Speaker 5: This is what the Bruins want to do, and it
- 34:22Speaker 5: was probably just annoying that they couldn't really be effective
- 34:26Speaker 5: at it until they were down six to one late
- 34:28Speaker 5: in the third period.

- 39:19Speaker 1: TD Library after tonight's game. Except for the Sabers fans
- 39:22Speaker 1: that were that made the trip, shout out to them.
- 39:25Speaker 1: By the way, there was a there was a couple
- 39:26Speaker 1: of let's go Buffalo chances tonight and for the Sabers
- 39:28Speaker 1: fans to travel all the way to Boston and be
- 39:30Speaker 1: able to go into a hostile environment like that, like,
- 39:32Speaker 1: good on them. The fans that have been waiting a
- 39:35Speaker 1: long time, I'm sure, but to have a strong contingent
- 39:39Speaker 1: on the road is always a good thing, I'm sure
- 39:41Speaker 1: for the team absolutely.
- 39:42Speaker 5: And for anyone, you know, if there's any Bills crossover.
- 39:45Speaker 5: Dalton Concaid was that games three and four feels like
- 39:47Speaker 5: he's gonna need to keep going to games until this
- 39:49Speaker 5: team loses because two and zero on the road with
- 39:52Speaker 5: him in the house, I think when Buffalo lost that
- 39:55Speaker 5: third second game, fans would are probably just go split
- 40:00Speaker 5: with Boston. The fact that they were not only able
- 40:02Speaker 5: to win both in Boston, but to win both the way.
- 40:06Speaker 5: You know, Game three wasn't a convincing win, but they
- 40:09Speaker 5: controlled the game at five on five and it was
- 40:11Speaker 5: a big win. And then to respond to that big
- 40:13Speaker 5: win with just a pure you know, the lack of
- 40:16Speaker 5: better words part of my language felt the ass game
- 40:19Speaker 5: like that, it was. It was awesome to see fans
- 40:23Speaker 5: on the road, you know, the Rollerblade guys following the
- 40:26Speaker 5: team to Boston, like it's it's the type of stuff
- 40:29Speaker 5: we've been waiting for for literally fourteen years, and people
- 40:32Speaker 5: are finding out how how truly good the fan base
- 40:38Speaker 5: actually is because we have a good team to cheer
- 40:40Speaker 5: four now.
- 40:43Speaker 1: And I saw Montreal had their own and I'm like,
- 40:45Speaker 1: come on, guys, like you clearly copied the Sabers, Like
- 40:47Speaker 1: let's let's let let's have something else original here in Montreal, Like,
- 40:51Speaker 1: let's let's come up with something better.
- 40:52Speaker 4: You're an original six team.
- 40:53Speaker 1: You don't have to copy the Buffalo Sabers on their
- 40:56Speaker 1: their Blade crew. But maybe if they met in the
- 40:58Speaker 1: second round, we could have a tilt between the two
- 41:01Speaker 1: Blade crews out front.
- 41:02Speaker 4: I don't know if if that would.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Be legal or not, but anyways, game stats or player
- 41:07Speaker 1: stats from from the rest of the game, we talked
- 41:09Speaker 1: about Bowen Byron met at nauseum just being a fantastic player.
- 41:12Speaker 1: He was a plus three tonight goal and one assist.
- 41:15Speaker 1: You also had a Owen power being a plus two.
- 41:17Speaker 1: For those Owen power haters out there, you know, suck
- 41:20Speaker 1: on that one for tonight. As John Gibbons would say
- 41:23Speaker 1: back from his Blue Chase days, Peyton Krebs had a
- 41:25Speaker 1: goal and assists plus two. Uh, Alex tug gol and
- 41:28Speaker 1: assists plus two. Josh done a goal and assist as well.
- 41:31Speaker 1: We're gonna We're gonna give him a de facto power
- 41:33Speaker 1: play goal even though the Sabers are still over on
- 41:36Speaker 1: the power play. And maybe this just needs this to
- 41:37Speaker 1: be a thing if they're gonna go on on a
- 41:39Speaker 1: run to the cup, maybe they just never can score
- 41:41Speaker 1: a power play goal.
- 41:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean again, when we if you know, depending
- 41:45Speaker 5: on how the rest of the series plays out, when
- 41:47Speaker 5: it's time to do a recap of the first round,
- 41:50Speaker 5: no matter what the result is, that power play will
- 41:52Speaker 5: be a point of discussion. But it is a very
- 41:55Speaker 5: funny bit for the Sabers right now in this first
- 41:58Speaker 5: round to just not score out the power play but
- 42:00Speaker 5: so keep winning games.
- 42:02Speaker 4: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 42:03Speaker 1: And the player stats in the series we talked about,
- 42:06Speaker 1: you know, those guys leading the way, you know, Alex
- 42:08Speaker 1: talk with six points Peyton, Krebs, boem Byrom Tage Thompson. Like,
- 42:12Speaker 1: they're getting contributions from a lot of these guys that
- 42:14Speaker 1: they need to right now, and it's been it's been
- 42:16Speaker 1: really fun to see just the amount they've scored sixteen goals.
- 42:19Speaker 1: But it's not just like Tage Thompson scored twelve with
- 42:22Speaker 1: the goals and he's just.
- 42:23Speaker 4: Been carrying the Sabers exactly.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Yeah, that opening game was a was a legendary performance
- 42:27Speaker 1: from from Tage Thompson in the comeback. But other than that,
- 42:30Speaker 1: the other three games, it's not like it's just been
- 42:32Speaker 1: number seventy two and nobody else. There's been balanced scoring
- 42:35Speaker 1: throughout this lineup.
- 42:37Speaker 5: Yeah, when her said, like I said, you're getting contributions
- 42:39Speaker 5: in one way or another from four is one through
- 42:41Speaker 5: twelve right now, when like that's a huge, huge reason
- 42:45Speaker 5: why teams are successful in the playoffs when that happens,
- 42:47Speaker 5: and that is awesome to see that it's happening from
- 42:50Speaker 5: round one. Like you said, Tage set the tone with
- 42:52Speaker 5: that performance in game one, and then you know guys
- 42:55Speaker 5: like like Crebs and Tuck have and even Tage like
- 42:58Speaker 5: have had big games, but they're getting on support elsewhere,
- 43:01Speaker 5: and that is obviously what you want to see. And
- 43:05Speaker 5: not only like I said, not only is it one
- 43:07Speaker 5: through twelve, but like the defensive chip again, and oddly enough,
- 43:10Speaker 5: this is all with Rasmus Dahalin not really doing anything
- 43:13Speaker 5: like we If the Rasmus Dallen that we know shows
- 43:18Speaker 5: up in these playoffs like that's going to be a
- 43:19Speaker 5: problem for the rest of the team or the rest
- 43:21Speaker 5: of the league. If the rest of the team plays
- 43:24Speaker 5: like this and Dalen elevates his game to the level
- 43:26Speaker 5: that we know we could get to.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Dahleen has one assist in the four games, and the
- 43:29Speaker 1: saving doing what they're doing right now. You know, Zucker
- 43:32Speaker 1: has no points in the four games either, and he's been,
- 43:35Speaker 1: you know, a key contributor for the Sabers down the
- 43:37Speaker 1: stretch here plus six for Tuck, plus seven for Crebs
- 43:40Speaker 1: and byrom Byram leading the way on the defensive side
- 43:43Speaker 1: with three goals and two assists in the four games.
- 43:46Speaker 1: Just has elevated his game to another level and looks
- 43:48Speaker 1: like a guy that went on a deep, deep Cup
- 43:50Speaker 1: run with the Colorado Avalanche a few years ago. Speaking
- 43:53Speaker 1: of another former Colorado Avalanche, I know we gave him
- 43:55Speaker 1: a shoutout in the last episode being Catherine's naive. Connor
- 43:57Speaker 1: Timmins and Logan Stanley continue to but you know, do
- 44:00Speaker 1: their job, and that third pair we we talked about,
- 44:03Speaker 1: you know, in the playoff preview about the X factor
- 44:05Speaker 1: of that third pair needing to be be solid. We
- 44:07Speaker 1: talked about could Metsa or kessel Wring get in there
- 44:10Speaker 1: as well if Timmins underperforms. But you know, they've been
- 44:13Speaker 1: up to the test. They've been blocking shots, they've been
- 44:15Speaker 1: doing a lot of good things, and you know, they
- 44:17Speaker 1: haven't been really noticeable. And I think that's that's an
- 44:20Speaker 1: important thing for a third pair, where they're not you know,
- 44:22Speaker 1: giving up massive you know breakaways or you know two
- 44:25Speaker 1: on one odd man rushes. They're not turning the puck
- 44:27Speaker 1: over a lot. Like I've just been impressed by by
- 44:30Speaker 1: them on the third pair being able to just do
- 44:32Speaker 1: their job.
- 44:34Speaker 5: Yeah, not only do their job, but like just not
- 44:39Speaker 5: tonight necessarily, but like have a significant impact on games
- 44:43Speaker 5: like Game one and three, like I said, like a
- 44:47Speaker 5: ton of times there, so I apologize for that. Games
- 44:49Speaker 5: one and three, Connor Timmins came up with crucial shot
- 44:51Speaker 5: blocks on the penalty killed. Stanley and Timmins are a
- 44:54Speaker 5: big part of that penalty kill, and the penalty kill
- 44:56Speaker 5: has been excellent in the playoffs, like you know, like
- 44:59Speaker 5: we had last time. As bad as the power play
- 45:02Speaker 5: has been, the penalty kill has been that good and
- 45:04Speaker 5: Timmins and Stanley deserve a lot of credit for that.
- 45:06Speaker 5: So to the forward, So like from the third pair,
- 45:10Speaker 5: going from the biggest concern I think most fans had
- 45:13Speaker 5: coming into the series, maybe aside from the power play,
- 45:15Speaker 5: to being something that I don't even know if it's
- 45:17Speaker 5: a discussion anymore, and what the third pair should be
- 45:21Speaker 5: or is going to be. Maybe if they advance and
- 45:23Speaker 5: the matchup that they have, maybe it becomes another discussion.
- 45:25Speaker 5: But right now, the way sixty four and twenty one
- 45:27Speaker 5: are playing, have no problem running them out there every game.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Yeah they've been they've been really good. And even saw
- 45:36Speaker 1: you know, z the door try to go after Stanley.
- 45:37Speaker 1: And that's why you bring a guy in like that
- 45:39Speaker 1: from Winnipeg, right because you've got a guy like Za
- 45:41Speaker 1: door Off running around and even the smaller guys are
- 45:44Speaker 1: willing to go after him. But when you've got a
- 45:45Speaker 1: guy like Stanley, he's he can go toe to toe
- 45:48Speaker 1: with the with the mead heeadlegd is a door of
- 45:49Speaker 1: and and we saw that tonight that they had to
- 45:52Speaker 1: be restrained near the end of the game.
- 45:54Speaker 5: Oh for sure. That again. You know, it's a bit
- 45:58Speaker 5: of old school mentality that I think think will always
- 46:00Speaker 5: still exist. Is if you have a guy like Stanley
- 46:05Speaker 5: who is a deterrent but can also play hockey properly,
- 46:10Speaker 5: they will have an impact. And as much as Castilick
- 46:14Speaker 5: and those guys are gonna try to intimidate, knowing you
- 46:16Speaker 5: have a guy, you know, Stanley Greenway won't necessarily fight,
- 46:22Speaker 5: but he's a big, imposing guy. Not like knowing you
- 46:25Speaker 5: have those guys who can play that role but also
- 46:27Speaker 5: be effective hockey players will help even things up. And
- 46:30Speaker 5: the mentality that the Sabers have adopted, we're sticking up
- 46:33Speaker 5: for each other, isn't really a question anymore. It's gonna
- 46:36Speaker 5: be really hard for guys, you know, zador Off, cast Lick, Janeo.
- 46:40Speaker 5: They're gonna do what they do, but it's gonna be
- 46:43Speaker 5: impossible for them to intimidate Buffalo, especially with a three
- 46:47Speaker 5: to one lead in the series. And that tone was
- 46:49Speaker 5: set in Game one when Buffalo just came out and said,
- 46:51Speaker 5: we're gonna hit everything through the wall because we're not
- 46:53Speaker 5: scared of you guys, and that's that has shown. I mean,
- 46:57Speaker 5: the only time that the brew was kind of able
- 47:00Speaker 5: to physically suck the Savers in was Game two. But
- 47:03Speaker 5: it wasn't because the Sabers were scared. It was because,
- 47:05Speaker 5: for whatever reason, it just felt like Buffalo was going
- 47:08Speaker 5: out of their way to try and show Boston work
- 47:11Speaker 5: tougher than you. And there's no more questions about the
- 47:14Speaker 5: Sabers being scared basically, and the Bruins they're gonna have
- 47:18Speaker 5: to find a new slant if they want to come
- 47:19Speaker 5: back in this series.
- 47:21Speaker 1: So let's go to Sabers head coach well Lendy rough
- 47:23Speaker 1: on the wild Bows out of repair post game, helping
- 47:25Speaker 1: customers stay safe and confident on the road in Niagres
- 47:28Speaker 1: of twenty twelve, an honor of the late William Robert Hunter.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Here's what the Sabers bench boss had to say about
- 47:32Speaker 1: his team's performance and going back to Buffalo now up
- 47:36Speaker 1: three to one in the best of seven series.
- 47:40Speaker 7: Every thing in the maturity of this club learning to
- 47:43Speaker 7: play in the playoffs. People on the outside may be
- 47:46Speaker 7: wondering about it. You come into Boston and win both
- 47:49Speaker 7: games and do it the way you played, and certainly
- 47:51Speaker 7: over the last five periods out of the six.
- 47:55Speaker 8: Yeah, like I thought tonight was that first period is
- 47:58Speaker 8: the best period we've played all year. Uh, I thought
- 48:00Speaker 8: puck pressure, scoring opportunities as well. We moved the puck
- 48:05Speaker 8: and got the puck up ice, didn't spend much time
- 48:08Speaker 8: in our end.
- 48:10Speaker 9: You know.
- 48:11Speaker 8: Uh, It's like you said, maybe at that first period
- 48:14Speaker 8: in the previous game, not the best period, but these
- 48:17Speaker 8: last five are been really solid.
- 48:21Speaker 5: And then what need that pressure is just so bet
- 48:23Speaker 5: on us?
- 48:24Speaker 10: I mean, it's just everybody is a turnover caused by
- 48:28Speaker 10: you guys?
- 48:29Speaker 7: Why it just sober love.
- 48:32Speaker 8: I just feel Paul was like the previous game, you know,
- 48:34Speaker 8: we're the next man, was right there on every pass,
- 48:40Speaker 8: you know. I think we had good legs, We had
- 48:42Speaker 8: good energy. When you have good energy, you get the
- 48:44Speaker 8: places our feet were moving. I think that's the biggest deal.
- 48:47Speaker 8: Our feet were moving, we weren't standing around. Our anticipation
- 48:51Speaker 8: where pucks were going was really good. We were back
- 48:54Speaker 8: on top of them, so most of the passes they
- 48:56Speaker 8: had to make had to go through us. And we
- 48:59Speaker 8: created the turnovers that led to to scoring opportunities.
- 49:09Speaker 11: Linda, you mentioned the NHL kind of warned you guys
- 49:13Speaker 11: and wanted to hold this series to a little bit
- 49:15Speaker 11: of a higher standard. To that end, what did you
- 49:19Speaker 11: think of the visitor of play on Dollyen late in
- 49:22Speaker 11: the game?
- 49:24Speaker 8: You know, I understand the emotion of that, you know,
- 49:27Speaker 8: because of the way the game went. I mean, you
- 49:31Speaker 8: see that in playoff games. I mean, that type of
- 49:36Speaker 8: raw emotion is you know, it's because the player is
- 49:39Speaker 8: so frustrated with a game that you know, and there's
- 49:43Speaker 8: lots of bantering back and forth inside the game. It's
- 49:45Speaker 8: it's not it's not a play you want. I'm pretty
- 49:50Speaker 8: sure that if that's a regular season that might even
- 49:52Speaker 8: be a suspension. He could have easily broke could have
- 49:55Speaker 8: easily broke Rass's arm with the crossheck, I got jam.
- 50:01Speaker 12: Then I got to ask about Tyson Kozak and Jason
- 50:04Speaker 12: Zupper noticed they both went to the room during the game,
- 50:07Speaker 12: didn't come back, and he sat as update on them.
- 50:12Speaker 8: No update, you know, there was talk of them returning,
- 50:15Speaker 8: and I said, there's no need to return.
- 50:18Speaker 3: At this time.
- 50:19Speaker 8: Just treat him, leave him in the dress room and
- 50:23Speaker 8: just for where the game was at, then you don't
- 50:27Speaker 8: get to overlooked the Elk's line at the rock solid.
- 50:29Speaker 11: Just just what did you think of his presence in
- 50:31Speaker 11: that tonight and what he did?
- 50:34Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, I thought there was a couple shifts
- 50:37Speaker 8: in the second period. We got caught one in particular
- 50:41Speaker 8: where you know, he faced two or three good opportunities
- 50:44Speaker 8: I thought the first period for most of the period
- 50:47Speaker 8: except for the one, I think he maybe faced one
- 50:49Speaker 8: chance in the first period, But he just looked really
- 50:53Speaker 8: comfortable and hate the goal that we gave up as
- 50:59Speaker 8: a as a group, as a team after how well
- 51:01Speaker 8: he's played, But he just he's really confident between the
- 51:07Speaker 8: pipes right now.
- 51:13Speaker 13: In your experience, which is the added challenge of closing
- 51:16Speaker 13: out a series when you have for three wins, what's
- 51:19Speaker 13: is it a mental or a physical thing about getting
- 51:22Speaker 13: that fourth one that makes it even harder.
- 51:24Speaker 3: I think that the challenge is the team.
- 51:26Speaker 8: That's going to come in there they hit their highest
- 51:31Speaker 8: desperation level. I think you saw some of that last
- 51:34Speaker 8: night in the Philly Pittsburgh game. You you looked at
- 51:38Speaker 8: a game between Dallas and Minnesota, you know, team didn't
- 51:42Speaker 8: want to go down three to one. The battle in
- 51:44Speaker 8: that game, that's your biggest challenge is your desperation has
- 51:49Speaker 8: to succeed there knowing that they have nothing to lose anymore.
- 51:55Speaker 8: And sometimes when there's nothing to lose, you can create
- 51:59Speaker 8: enough and enough passion that it makes it extremely hard
- 52:03Speaker 8: for the team that's trying to close it out to
- 52:05Speaker 8: win a game.
- 52:06Speaker 1: There was Sabers head coach Lindy Ruff on the Wild
- 52:08Speaker 1: Bills Auto Repair postgame Austin. A lot of stuff there
- 52:11Speaker 1: from the Sabers bench boss as always. Video courtesy of
- 52:14Speaker 1: x dot Com, Slash Buffalo, Sabers MSG, and the National
- 52:17Speaker 1: Hockey League.
- 52:17Speaker 4: What are your takeaways from what he said tonight?
- 52:20Speaker 5: I mean, most importantly, the two things that I look
- 52:22Speaker 5: at were the updates on you know, cooz Aknzucker and
- 52:26Speaker 5: that's big. You know, saying there's no need for them
- 52:28Speaker 5: to come back obviously means one they could have came back.
- 52:34Speaker 5: That's good. Interesting. I don't maybe I missed it. I
- 52:38Speaker 5: don't remember hearing anything about the league warning the Sabers
- 52:41Speaker 5: that and the Bruins that this series is gonna be
- 52:43Speaker 5: held to a higher standard. So that was kind of
- 52:45Speaker 5: interesting that popped up, that perked my ears up a
- 52:47Speaker 5: little bit. Kind of does make me wonder if there'll
- 52:49Speaker 5: be any discipline for Zadarov, Zadorov, whatever you want to
- 52:53Speaker 5: say his name. I would imagine maybe it's a fine.
- 52:55Speaker 5: I don't I can't see him getting suspended for that,
- 52:57Speaker 5: but I guess you never really know. And then just
- 53:02Speaker 5: the him talking about Lion right just lyon in UPL
- 53:06Speaker 5: when they've both been good. They've both been really, really good.
- 53:09Speaker 5: But the one thing I will say is just Lion
- 53:11Speaker 5: has that swagger about him that I just don't think
- 53:16Speaker 5: UPL has. And that's not a shot at UPL. He's
- 53:18Speaker 5: extremely good athletic goalie. He's just Lion's got that psychopath
- 53:23Speaker 5: thing that you want in a goalie. So when he's
- 53:27Speaker 5: clicking like this, that's awesome to see. He like I said,
- 53:31Speaker 5: he wasn't needed in the first period, he was needed
- 53:34Speaker 5: a lot in the second and he was up to
- 53:36Speaker 5: the task. So and understand why Lindy was mad. He
- 53:40Speaker 5: earned that shutout and you know, you give him a
- 53:42Speaker 5: short handed goal, it kind of stinks. So I'm sure
- 53:45Speaker 5: that's something that will be held there. But yeah, good
- 53:48Speaker 5: to hear that they're healthy. And yeah, that bit about
- 53:50Speaker 5: them being warned about the series being held to a
- 53:52Speaker 5: higher stand that was interesting to me because I don't
- 53:54Speaker 5: remember that. I don't remember even seeing that anywhere.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Any quick thoughts on what Andrew Raker of that earlier
- 54:00Speaker 1: this week about Alex Lyon, Yeah.
- 54:03Speaker 5: That was also weird. What nothing like whatever.
- 54:08Speaker 4: From the back Andrew Raycroft just coming out. Yeah, it's
- 54:12Speaker 4: a comment.
- 54:14Speaker 5: Weird comment, not like like, yeah, weird comment. There's also
- 54:17Speaker 5: weird weird guy to go after. I don't know, I
- 54:20Speaker 5: know Raycrofts, the Boston guy, and you know, Lion was
- 54:23Speaker 5: chirping at Bruins fans and chirping at you know and stuff,
- 54:25Speaker 5: so maybe it's just putting on for the I don't know.
- 54:28Speaker 5: It was weird. It seemed like not that I know
- 54:31Speaker 5: I Alex Lyon personally at all, but the little bit
- 54:33Speaker 5: that I've heard from talking like on a couple of
- 54:35Speaker 5: interviews that he's done, him being around the Sabers doesn't
- 54:38Speaker 5: seem like a hatable guy. And arguably, like if you
- 54:43Speaker 5: want to say he's a bad goalie, I don't know,
- 54:45Speaker 5: the numbers this year would kind of say the exact opposite.
- 54:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean he keeps winning, so.
- 54:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know. Weird weird, weird weird.
- 54:55Speaker 1: So we'll go to our Sabers feature player interview tonight,
- 54:58Speaker 1: Rocky by the Nagrident Clinic creating natural smiles in the
- 55:01Speaker 1: Naga region for over twenty five years. Here is Boween
- 55:04Speaker 1: Byron's postgame interview with Dan dun Levy and Rob ray
- 55:08Speaker 1: on MSG since.
- 55:09Speaker 10: Between periods coming back out for the second Yeah, you
- 55:13Speaker 10: know you're expecting to push from the other team, but
- 55:16Speaker 10: you know, we just wanted to keep doing.
- 55:17Speaker 3: What we were doing.
- 55:17Speaker 5: We're doing a lot of good things.
- 55:20Speaker 9: I thought we just played really fascinate and you know,
- 55:22Speaker 9: our forwards is a great job of creating and yeah,
- 55:25Speaker 9: it was a lot of fun. So you know, sometimes
- 55:27Speaker 9: those games are tough to plan. When you get up early.
- 55:28Speaker 9: You got to try to can continue to game momentum
- 55:31Speaker 9: and sustain momentum, sustained pressure.
- 55:33Speaker 5: So I thought we did a pretty good job of that. Yeah,
- 55:34Speaker 5: whatever you.
- 55:35Speaker 14: Guys had for breakfast, have it again all right before
- 55:36Speaker 14: the next game. You don't wait till dinner time to
- 55:39Speaker 14: have it. Listen, you talk about playing with speed, can
- 55:42Speaker 14: you speak to the connectivity though with a team. It's
- 55:44Speaker 14: one thing to get up ice quickly, one player at
- 55:46Speaker 14: a time, remove the puck quickly, but you seem to
- 55:48Speaker 14: be doing it.
- 55:48Speaker 5: It's never just one guy.
- 55:49Speaker 14: There's at least two guys maybe you know, three on
- 55:52Speaker 14: the attack there that's helping you make that play at
- 55:54Speaker 14: the line.
- 55:56Speaker 9: Yeah. I think it's just something you know, we've worked
- 55:58Speaker 9: on all year, you know, the just preach playing fast
- 56:01Speaker 9: and getting.
- 56:02Speaker 5: The puck up the ice quickly.
- 56:03Speaker 9: But like you said, sometimes I can get you into
- 56:04Speaker 9: trouble if you're giving it to someone with no support.
- 56:06Speaker 9: So yeah, I thought I thought we did a really
- 56:09Speaker 9: good job of that. You know, we kind of came
- 56:11Speaker 9: up the ice as five and you know, made it
- 56:13Speaker 9: real difficult on their d and they and their forwards
- 56:15Speaker 9: to kind of contain us.
- 56:16Speaker 3: Up up the ice.
- 56:17Speaker 10: How about the layers of defense you guys got. You
- 56:19Speaker 10: guys are going at them, you're buzzing the pock, you're
- 56:21Speaker 10: on top of them. If they missed the first guy,
- 56:23Speaker 10: you've got a second guy, then you got the third guy.
- 56:25Speaker 10: It's so hard, it seems like for the Bruins to
- 56:28Speaker 10: get anything going up the ice.
- 56:30Speaker 9: Yeah, for sure, you know, we talk about it all
- 56:32Speaker 9: the time when our forwards are for checking and tracking
- 56:36Speaker 9: like they were tonight. We're a really good team and
- 56:38Speaker 9: we're tough to be just allows. Uh you know dda
- 56:41Speaker 9: play aggressive, pinch the walls and really give the other
- 56:44Speaker 9: team no time and space.
- 56:45Speaker 5: So yeah, I thought we did that to a t tonight.
- 56:47Speaker 5: You're playing many to well, you're playing.
- 56:49Speaker 14: With a lot of different defense payer or partners rather
- 56:51Speaker 14: depending on the moment of the game. But can you
- 56:53Speaker 14: speak a bit to how Owen Powers handled this first
- 56:55Speaker 14: time playoff experience for him and how at least in
- 56:58Speaker 14: our eyes we've seen his game, sure, and we've talked
- 57:00Speaker 14: about that in the broadcast a few times.
- 57:02Speaker 9: Yeah, he's been on real you know it, made a
- 57:04Speaker 9: few really good plays with the puck tonight. You know
- 57:07Speaker 9: Froz the guy on my on my goal there and
- 57:09Speaker 9: then was just distributed it and all night moving his feet,
- 57:13Speaker 9: and you know, he's been a blast to watch and
- 57:15Speaker 9: then super fun to play with.
- 57:16Speaker 10: Bo You've been on fire offensively three goals in this series.
- 57:19Speaker 10: Some said here between periods up here that you snuck
- 57:22Speaker 10: downstairs to get your picture with the second greatest number
- 57:25Speaker 10: four ever to play the game, to Bobby or statue
- 57:27Speaker 10: Is that true?
- 57:29Speaker 5: I don't know, that might be rumors.
- 57:30Speaker 1: Bowen Byram Sabers defenseman on the Niger Denture Clinic feature
- 57:34Speaker 1: player interview.
- 57:35Speaker 4: Again.
- 57:36Speaker 1: That audio courtesy of Buffalo Sabers dot com, x dot Com,
- 57:39Speaker 1: slash Buffalo Sabers MSG and the National Hockey League. A
- 57:43Speaker 1: little funny funny clip there with with Razor and Don
- 57:46Speaker 1: Levy uh with with Bowen Byram.
- 57:48Speaker 4: But what did you take away from what he said there?
- 57:52Speaker 5: I just like, you know, how they asked him about
- 57:54Speaker 5: power and what they've seen from him and getting you know,
- 57:56Speaker 5: his partners perspective kind of just reiterate it's like he's
- 58:03Speaker 5: he's not like he's playing well. Has he been perfect? No,
- 58:06Speaker 5: but he's playing well. He's able to read off Bow.
- 58:08Speaker 5: They have a really good chemistry together, and as good
- 58:12Speaker 5: as Bow and Byron has been, you have to attribute
- 58:14Speaker 5: a little bit of that to how he's able to
- 58:16Speaker 5: play off of his partner. And just you know, that
- 58:20Speaker 5: was awesome to hear and the fact that we're just
- 58:25Speaker 5: sitting here you brought it up is a great point
- 58:28Speaker 5: that you brought up early the podcast is there was
- 58:29Speaker 5: trade rumors about bow and Byron earlier this in the offseason.
- 58:33Speaker 5: The fact that he's still here and the way he's
- 58:35Speaker 5: been able to step up is just kind of like
- 58:38Speaker 5: it's a crazy butterfly effect, because if Byron's not here,
- 58:40Speaker 5: I don't know what this lineup looks like. We don't
- 58:42Speaker 5: know who's playing that role. Because at times, even throughout
- 58:49Speaker 5: the regular season, you know, when Toleen had to step away,
- 58:51Speaker 5: or when Doleen was kind of finding himself given everything
- 58:54Speaker 5: he'd gone through, Byron was able to step up and
- 58:56Speaker 5: be this anchor on this blue line, and through four
- 58:59Speaker 5: games in the playoffs, he's he's done that again. And
- 59:02Speaker 5: if he keeps doing that, it's totally amount of time
- 59:04Speaker 5: before Dahlan pops off and then we're sitting here talking
- 59:07Speaker 5: about how dangerous this top four is again. And I
- 59:11Speaker 5: don't even mean that as a negative because his top
- 59:12Speaker 5: four is still dangerous. But imagine how good this top
- 59:15Speaker 5: four is playing when Dallen is clicking and Byron has
- 59:18Speaker 5: been able to kind of lift up that slash and
- 59:19Speaker 5: that's that's huge for Bronment, it's huge for Buffalo.
- 59:22Speaker 4: Yeah, and I love that he gave Power a shout
- 59:24Speaker 4: out as well.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Just continues to elevate his game, and again that top
- 59:28Speaker 1: four has been Buffalo's strength, but also Stanley and Timmins
- 59:31Speaker 1: have done a solid job on the third pair as well.
- 59:34Speaker 4: So before we get out.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Of here, Player of the Game, he got a lot
- 59:36Speaker 1: of options, you know, Bone Buyer, Malex Lion, Zach Benson,
- 59:39Speaker 1: Peyton Krebs.
- 59:40Speaker 4: Who are you going with tonight?
- 59:47Speaker 5: I'm not gonna go with Lyon because I think Lyon
- 59:49Speaker 5: was probably well also his player of the Game for
- 59:51Speaker 5: game three. I'm gonna gieve Payton Crebs his flowers. You know,
- 59:56Speaker 5: we've talked about him a lot today, but we've talked
- 59:58Speaker 5: about those other guys a lot, so I'll give credit
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: his flowers for just you know, able to descent the tone,
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: start playing like not like the player we thought he
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: was gonna be, because we thought he was gonna be
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: a much more skilled guy. But he's been able to
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: adapt that into an aggressive, for checking, relentless type player
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: and now him seem seamlessly becoming a top line winger
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: for the Savers on you know, in a huge playoff
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: series like that, that's huge for Hiaven for him to
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: be able to be producing the way he is. Have
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: a multipoint night again, tonight, I'll give Crebs his flowers.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and almost forgotten piece in that the Alex Tuck
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Jack eicheltrade right, former first round pick of Vegas. And
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: you wonder, you know, is he considered a bus because he's,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: you know, basically a four checking player. But I think
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Peyton Krebs, you would take what he brings to the
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: lineup and what he's been doing for them in the
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: playoffs as a first round pick, you know what I mean,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Like he's he's fitting well with Thompson and Tuck on
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: that top line left wing spot. And again, he might
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: not be putting up the numbers he put up in
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: junior hockey, but he's developing into a solid, useful National
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Hockey League player, a lot like a Zach Benson or
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: a Josh Stone. Just those types of players are how
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: the Sabers are finding the glue that puts all the
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: rest of their core together that we've been talking about
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: for three or four years of when is the score
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: going to break through? These other guys have been coming
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: through being able to fit the rest of the puzzle.
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: Yeah. Absolutely, And just again like a guy who was
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: a top prospect, like you said, became the fourth line
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: center in Buffalo and never complained once about it, basically
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: adapted to that role, took to that role, no complaints,
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: just immediately became a heart and soul type of guy.
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: For him to now get rewarded with being a consistent
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: top line player and to get the points like, that's
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: big for him. And yes I am biased because I
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: am one oft Crebs's bigges supporters and have been since
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: that trade, But you can't prove me. You can't tell
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: me I'm being biased now because he's just straight up
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: playing good hockey.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: So final thoughts going into Tuesday with a chance to
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: wrap it up on home.
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: Ice, I mean huge, right, like you have to, not
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: you have to, but it would just be such a
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: big moment to wrap it up in game five. You
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: have a lot of momentum coming off tonight. Find a
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: way to just carry that over. And before we move on,
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: I do want to say one final thought, not necessarily
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: Sabers related, but Ambork season is done. Be kind of
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: curious to see if anyone gets called up to kind
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: of be like a black a squad for these guys.
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: But a shout out to Don Stevens, play by play
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: guy for the Ammers. Last time on the call tonight.
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: Kind of sucks that the Amerks were done, but want
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: to give him a shout out because not that I'm
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: some big AMers guy, but it was cool to see
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: him on the broadcast of the Sabers earlier and for
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: his career to come. They want to just give him
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: a quick shout out.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: No, absolutely, anybody in the Sabers system for sure. You know,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: great to see a great career Don Stevens that's lasted
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: many decades comes to an end tonight but gets to
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: leave on his own term. So that's going to wrap
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: it up for today's episode of Saber Semantics right here
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: on the Armchair GM Sports Network as always, probably the
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: brought to by Global Pet Foods, where pets are unanially
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: part of the family and there are three great Niagaregian
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: locations and Nagara Falls, Von Hill and Scott Streed and
