• 0:01
SPEAKER_00: And now it's time for the Elise Richmond Show, right here on WNAU.
• 0:07
SPEAKER_00: And now, without further ado, here's Elise.
• 0:12
SPEAKER_03: Good morning, everyone, and welcome to the Elise Richmond Show.
• 0:15
SPEAKER_03: We are conservatively speaking and saying exactly what you are thinking.
• 0:20
SPEAKER_03: We are right here on WNAU 1470, classic rock and roll, except every Tuesday at 11 o'clock in the morning.
• 0:30
SPEAKER_03: It becomes Conservative Talk Radio for about an hour.
• 0:33
SPEAKER_03: And I hope you can stay with us for the entire hour because I have a very, very special guest today.
• 0:40
  SPEAKER_03: Her name is Dr.
• 0:41
SPEAKER_03: Beverly Stubblefield, and so many of you out there know Dr.
• 0:46
  SPEAKER_03: Stubblefield.
• 0:47
SPEAKER_03: The reason that we are so excited is she has a new book, another book.
• 0:52
SPEAKER_03: And the name of that book is Letters to Prison.
• 0:56
SPEAKER_03: Now, most of the time you think about letters coming from prison going out to family and friends and whomever and whatever, but in this particular case, this is all about her letters to prison.
• 1:09
SPEAKER_03: And uh I'm very excited to get to this book because I happen to really like it.
• 1:13
SPEAKER_03: You know, there are many times that you have to interview people and you've read their book, you've read portions of it, or you've read as much of it as you can.
• 1:21
SPEAKER_03: And uh honestly, it's sort of like, oh my gosh, how am I gonna do this?
• 1:26
  SPEAKER_03: But with Dr.
• 1:27
SPEAKER_03: Stubblefield's book, it is so easy because I happen to love reading it, and it is an incredible read because you don't have to read it all the way.
• 1:37
SPEAKER_03: You can just read a few of the letters and you can look up the verses maybe if they're there, uh, in the Bible that are relating to what the author of the letter is saying.
• 1:49
SPEAKER_03: Or you can just keep on reading like I did this morning and almost be late for the radio show.
• 1:55
SPEAKER_03: So that said, I want to remind everybody that we have sponsors here on the Elise Richmond Show, the Pontauk County Republican Women are one of our sponsors, and Colonel Gannon Burton's Mississippi for America First.
• 2:08
SPEAKER_03: So we thank them for being sponsors of the radio show.
• 2:12
SPEAKER_03: Now, Bob Richman is here today.
• 2:14
SPEAKER_03: He is running the board, and he has something that he didn't get to say last week.
• 2:19
SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna make him stick with it quickly because I want the whole rest of the hour to be for Dr.
• 2:26
  SPEAKER_03: Stubblefield.
• 2:28
SPEAKER_03: Go for it, Bob Richmond.
• 2:29
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
• 2:30
SPEAKER_04: So good to be on your show today.
• 2:31
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 2:32
SPEAKER_04: Well, you're just more than welcome.
• 2:33
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, what I didn't get to last week was the fact that we were talking about the failure of the government.
• 2:40
SPEAKER_04: And it's not really the failure of the government, it's the failure of the people elected to the government.
• 2:45
  SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
• 2:46
SPEAKER_04: And how I get all these requests from the GOP on money to go ahead and beat the government.
• 2:53
SPEAKER_03: And keep funding their dysfunction.
• 2:55
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, keep funding the the dev the Democrats are fighting President Trump's agenda.
• 3:00
SPEAKER_04: Well, that's only half the truth because there's a lot of Republicans fighting the uh uh his Trump's agenda too.
• 3:09
SPEAKER_04: And uh we're let's talk about recessed appointments.
• 3:12
SPEAKER_04: Now Harry Reid started blocking appointments from the uh President Ronald Reagan around Thanksgiving of 2007.
• 3:20
SPEAKER_04: He did this by calling a pro forum session every couple of days during the recess, and this made the Senate never go into recess long enough to allow the president without the advice and consent of the Senate to make appointments.
• 3:37
SPEAKER_04: And this has never happened before.
• 3:39
SPEAKER_04: Harry Reid started this and then Harry Reid was evil.
• 3:44
  SPEAKER_04: He was very evil.
• 3:45
SPEAKER_04: And then in 2014, the Supreme Court upheld this tactic of Senator Reed as being a legitimate tactic.
• 3:54
SPEAKER_04: And they're the ones who called for a den ten days before President can make a recess appointment during a recess time.
• 4:01
SPEAKER_04: Now, in the six years President Ronald Reagan had a Republican Senate, he made 240 recess appointments.
• 4:07
SPEAKER_04: In other words, the Republicans went into recess so he could make recess appointments that the Democrats he couldn't get the 60 votes to go ahead and get them passed.
• 4:17
SPEAKER_04: So he did 240 of them.
• 4:20
  SPEAKER_04: Now President W.
• 4:21
SPEAKER_04: Bush, he made 171, and he had a Republican Senate for I think it was six years the same.
• 4:28
SPEAKER_04: Bill Clinton made 140 recess appointments with a Democrat set uh Senate during his term, and uh the Republicans never used this tactic to block a recess appointment.
• 4:41
  SPEAKER_03: Why is that?
• 4:42
SPEAKER_03: Because Republicans uh have manners.
• 4:45
SPEAKER_03: Republicans want the governor to go, usually, I'm questioning them these days.
• 4:50
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 4:51
SPEAKER_04: Now President Obama only had 32 recessed appointments because the Democrats controlled the Senate for six years of his eight years Tennessee, and the Republicans during his went ahead and they did block and go into pro-FOMA session, so they couldn't get a he couldn't get a recess point.
• 5:09
SPEAKER_04: What's going on right now?
• 5:10
SPEAKER_04: President Trump, who's had a control of both houses and the Senate for the last two years, and I believe it was four years to six years, his first term, they have never gone into a uh recess and allowed him to make any.
• 5:28
  SPEAKER_04: He's made zero.
• 5:30
  SPEAKER_04: Zero.
• 5:31
SPEAKER_03: Listen to me, he's made zero in either presidency, four years the first time, and now into two this time.
• 5:40
  SPEAKER_03: So six years.
• 5:41
  SPEAKER_04: That's where you've got that six.
• 5:42
SPEAKER_04: Why are the Republicans acting like Democrats to President Trump?
• 5:47
  SPEAKER_04: Because they're rhinos.
• 5:48
SPEAKER_04: Well because they don't like President Trump.
• 5:50
SPEAKER_04: In other words, they don't trust him.
• 5:52
SPEAKER_04: In other words, right they're giving the Democrats the advantage, just like when um our last president, prene President Deadbrain, when he Were you talking about Biden?
• 6:06
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 6:06
SPEAKER_04: When he w when he when he had to have votes and needed the 60 threshold in the Senate to pass his legislation?
• 6:16
SPEAKER_04: Well, guess who went ahead?
• 6:17
SPEAKER_04: Mitch McConnell and gave him 14 or so votes each time.
• 6:21
SPEAKER_04: And the Democrats never have given President Trump anything.
• 6:26
SPEAKER_04: So it's not the Republicans who are helping, it's the Republicans who are defeating the cause of conservative movement in our government s for the last two presidencies.
• 6:42
  SPEAKER_03: Well, for Trump's presidency.
• 6:45
SPEAKER_04: And also Biden's, because they're passing bad legislation by the Democrats.
• 6:50
  SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
• 6:51
  SPEAKER_03: It's insane.
• 6:52
SPEAKER_03: Well, it is insane because uh they should look at who sent them there.
• 6:57
SPEAKER_03: And uh just like that Save uh America Act that we talked about last week and the week before, 82, 83 percent of all Americans, including Democrats, want to save that because they want to have honest and un Oh, they want every they want their elections to be honest and to be um everybody that's an American, you have to be an American to to vote.
• 7:25
SPEAKER_03: And so that said who isn't doing that?
• 7:30
SPEAKER_03: Who isn't helping to get that passed?
• 7:32
SPEAKER_03: Oh, there's some rhinos, yeah.
• 7:34
SPEAKER_03: Now why would they not want that?
• 7:36
SPEAKER_03: Because they're still I I think they need to not be voted in next time.
• 7:40
  SPEAKER_03: That's what I think.
• 7:41
SPEAKER_04: So also um the Democrats in Biden's term tried to go ahead and get rid of the sixty vote threshold, and they were one vote short.
• 7:52
  SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
• 7:52
SPEAKER_04: One independent, two vo and one Democrat, there's two two votes short, who went ahead and voted against it.
• 8:00
SPEAKER_04: Now they're saying the next time they gain the Senate, they're gonna get rid of that filibuster 60 vote threshold.
• 8:07
  SPEAKER_04: And what's gonna happen?
• 8:10
SPEAKER_04: They're telling Republicans we're gonna get rid of it.
• 8:12
SPEAKER_04: They don't well, they do lie, but they're gonna go ahead and and they're gonna get rid of it.
• 8:17
SPEAKER_04: They're telling them the truth.
• 8:18
SPEAKER_04: But yet, oh, the Republicans, we want to go ahead and hold the uh 60 vote threshold for billibusters and dysfunctional.
• 8:28
  SPEAKER_03: It's all totally dysfunctional.
• 8:30
SPEAKER_03: There needs to be a strong leader in the Senate.
• 8:33
SPEAKER_03: Mitch McConnell has got some medical problems, I think.
• 8:36
SPEAKER_03: And I think he ought to let Thune.
• 8:39
SPEAKER_03: Oh gosh, let's get Rick Scott in there to run that place.
• 8:43
SPEAKER_03: Let's get somebody else but Senator John Thune, who is just absolutely no backbone and doing what Mitch McConnell says.
• 8:52
SPEAKER_03: I'm sure I've said that before many, many times here.
• 8:55
SPEAKER_03: It's so unfair to Americans, real true American citizens.
• 9:02
SPEAKER_03: It's so unfair to us.
• 9:03
SPEAKER_03: We voted for Donald Trump because we want him to have his and our legislation that we support passed.
• 9:13
  SPEAKER_03: Get with it, Republicans.
• 9:15
SPEAKER_04: It's it it is so against the American way of life.
• 9:17
SPEAKER_03: It is, it totally is.
• 9:19
SPEAKER_04: And the Democrats are turning socialistic communism, so they of course want to change it and they want to gain control.
• 9:25
SPEAKER_04: And once they gain control and do this, it's over for Republicans.
• 9:31
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's over for Republicans, and I don't know why they don't get it.
• 9:34
SPEAKER_03: Why don't they see that?
• 9:35
SPEAKER_03: A few of them do, but you have to have a strong group.
• 9:40
SPEAKER_03: They have to stand together, and they're just not doing that, and it's so very wrong.
• 9:45
SPEAKER_03: Conservativism needs to have a strong leader voice.
• 9:49
  SPEAKER_03: Okay.
• 9:50
SPEAKER_03: Anything else on that, Bob?
• 9:52
SPEAKER_04: No, Elise, thank you so much.
• 9:53
SPEAKER_03: Did we beat that horse?
• 9:54
SPEAKER_03: Did we get that together?
• 9:55
SPEAKER_04: Well, we need to beat this horse all the time because you need to call the Senate.
• 10:00
SPEAKER_03: You need to call the House of Representatives, you need to call the numbers that way you want me to do.
• 10:05
  SPEAKER_03: 202-224-3121.
• 10:10
SPEAKER_04: And you need to call the spineless jellyfish, who's the leader of the Senate.
• 10:14
SPEAKER_03: Yes, we were telling every telling everyone to do that.
• 10:17
SPEAKER_03: You can still do it, folks.
• 10:19
SPEAKER_03: Just bombard that Senate switchboard for Senator John Thune.
• 10:25
SPEAKER_03: And you don't have to do anything but dial the number, 202-224-3121, and ask for Senator Thune.
• 10:32
SPEAKER_03: And then when his staff or someone answering the phone comes on, just say, have him get a backbone, have him become a leader, have him get strong, have him open his mouth and talk.
• 10:43
  SPEAKER_03: That'll be good too.
• 10:45
SPEAKER_03: And get the Save America Act passed.
• 10:49
SPEAKER_04: And why would anybody vote for a Republican senator when they haven't done anything for the last two years?
• 10:55
SPEAKER_04: Yes and what are they going to tell people they're going to do to get elected for the next two years?
• 10:59
SPEAKER_04: We're going to do nothing.
• 11:01
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we're going to do nothing like we've done for the last two years.
• 11:04
  SPEAKER_03: Please elect us.
• 11:05
SPEAKER_03: This doesn't make any sense.
• 11:07
SPEAKER_03: You guys have got to get tough.
• 11:08
SPEAKER_03: So all of the listeners out there do make those phone calls.
• 11:11
SPEAKER_03: We have to make, we have to hold the Republican senators' feet to the fire and make them get tough about things.
• 11:18
SPEAKER_04: Do it for our country and do it for President Trump.
• 11:21
  SPEAKER_04: The best president ever.
• 11:23
  SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
• 11:24
SPEAKER_03: That said, we're going to take a quick break, and when we come back, we are going to be bringing Dr.
• 11:30
SPEAKER_03: Beverly Stubblefield right here onto the show.
• 11:33
SPEAKER_03: And you are not going to be disappointed about what she's got to say.
• 11:37
  SPEAKER_03: Stay with us.
• 11:39
SPEAKER_02: What are you another road where maybe I could see another kind of mind?
• 11:59
SPEAKER_03: Welcome back to the Elise Richmond Show.
• 12:02
SPEAKER_03: We are having such a good time this morning.
• 12:05
SPEAKER_03: Knocking Democrats and trying to wake up Republicans.
• 12:09
SPEAKER_03: Isn't that what we need to all be doing?
• 12:11
SPEAKER_03: And in order to do that, 202-224-3121.
• 12:14
SPEAKER_03: I forgot to say a shout-out to Montana Dave now that I know he's listening every Tuesday at 11 o'clock.
• 12:20
SPEAKER_03: Thank you for listening, Montana Dave.
• 12:23
SPEAKER_03: And I was back in my hometown, which is Anne, Illinois, right across the bridge from Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
• 12:29
SPEAKER_03: And my best friend had, I don't know why people try to call me during 11 and 12, but anyway, my very, very best friend son had a big party and fiance had a big party at their house, and I met a great guy.
• 12:44
  SPEAKER_03: His name is Russell.
• 12:46
SPEAKER_03: Russell, shout out to you for being a first-time listener.
• 12:49
  SPEAKER_03: Thank you so much.
• 12:50
SPEAKER_03: He is a coach in Southern Illinois in, I think it was grade school or something, but we had a great political talk.
• 12:58
SPEAKER_03: So we'd like to meet all of those good, solid Republicans.
• 13:02
SPEAKER_03: Even in Southern Illinois, you will find good solid Republicans.
• 13:08
SPEAKER_03: It's Illinois, but there are Republicans there, just like there are in California.
• 13:12
  SPEAKER_03: Bob's raising his hand.
• 13:13
SPEAKER_03: He wants to say something.
• 13:15
SPEAKER_04: And who was from Cape Girarde, Missouri?
• 13:19
  SPEAKER_04: Rush Limbaugh.
• 13:21
  SPEAKER_04: There you go.
• 13:22
  SPEAKER_03: Yes.
• 13:23
  SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
• 13:25
  SPEAKER_03: Okay.
• 13:25
SPEAKER_03: So the Pontiac County Republican Women, as we said earlier, are one of our sponsors.
• 13:29
SPEAKER_03: You can join the Pontick County Republican women by giving them a call at 760-409-5297.
• 13:37
  SPEAKER_03: That's 760-409-5297.
• 13:41
  SPEAKER_03: Join us.
• 13:42
  SPEAKER_03: We have fun.
• 13:42
  SPEAKER_03: We support Republicans.
• 13:44
SPEAKER_03: We get out the vote.
• 13:46
SPEAKER_03: And we have great speakers.
• 13:48
SPEAKER_03: You can also have a home cooked meal for free right before the meeting.
• 13:52
SPEAKER_03: So we're going to be firing that back up again next Monday coming up, uh, starting the season in August.
• 14:00
SPEAKER_03: And you uh are welcome to join us, the Ponot County Republican Women, always out there just working and doing a fine job.
• 14:08
SPEAKER_03: Okay, that said, I have to tell my audience before I introduce um a part of the introduction of Dr.
• 14:14
SPEAKER_03: Beverly Soble Phil is we are friends.
• 14:17
SPEAKER_03: And we met at a Republican women's meeting.
• 14:22
SPEAKER_03: So I want to tell you, you can find some of your very, very best friends in Union County Republican Women.
• 14:28
SPEAKER_03: Uh it was Christmas a couple years ago.
• 14:31
SPEAKER_03: Bob and I went to their Christmas party, Union County Republican Women, Treasurer David McCrae was speaking, and we walked in and we looked around, and we didn't try to get up to the front because I wanted people who had not ever heard um our treasurer speak, Mississippi State Treasurer speak, um be up front.
• 14:50
SPEAKER_03: And so I looked around and there was a couple sitting at a table kind of in the back and backside, and I said, Come on, Bob, let's go over there and sit with him.
• 14:57
SPEAKER_03: So we introduced ourselves, and it was Dr.
• 15:00
SPEAKER_03: Beverly Stubblefield and Bert Kemp.
• 15:02
SPEAKER_03: And you know Bert, that crazy, they're two crazy Cajuns.
• 15:06
SPEAKER_03: One of them is Cargill, and the other one is Bert Kemp.
• 15:10
SPEAKER_03: And he has Bert's Bayou blends, that Spice Company in Ekru.
• 15:15
  SPEAKER_03: So there's a little shout out.
• 15:16
SPEAKER_03: Even though he's an LSU crazy, I even wore all my rebel stuff, so did Bob, because I was sure he was going to be here, and he was unable to make it this morning.
• 15:25
SPEAKER_03: So that said, I want you to know that I'm very, very biased about this lady because she's a very good friend.
• 15:32
SPEAKER_03: So, Beverly Subblefil, welcome to the show.
• 15:36
  SPEAKER_01: Thank you, Elise.
• 15:37
SPEAKER_01: It's an honor and privilege to be here this morning.
• 15:40
  SPEAKER_01: I appreciate the opportunity.
• 15:41
SPEAKER_03: Well, I want everyone to know about your book.
• 15:44
SPEAKER_03: So I'm going to start out by just saying letters to prison, words of encouragement and faith.
• 15:50
SPEAKER_03: And Beverly Subblefield has done an incredible job of writing this book.
• 15:55
SPEAKER_03: Now, you might say, How do you talk about letters to prison?
• 15:58
SPEAKER_03: What is this all about?
• 16:00
SPEAKER_03: And you have to know a little bit about Beverly's life and a little bit about what happened to her.
• 16:05
SPEAKER_03: And I'm going to let her start right there with why you, and we're talking about Beverly was in prison here.
• 16:12
SPEAKER_03: Why, Beverly, why were you in prison?
• 16:14
SPEAKER_01: All right, let me start out by saying I had a really thriving private practice in clinical psychology in Slydale, Louisiana.
• 16:22
SPEAKER_01: Very successful, but a friend of mine made me an offer, I couldn't refuse to do some consulting work and conduct psychological evaluations for them.
• 16:34
SPEAKER_01: And the psychological evaluations were in nursing homes.
• 16:36
SPEAKER_01: And if you're in a nursing home, of course, that involves Medicare.
• 16:40
SPEAKER_01: Well, I always liked having someone else take care of the business.
• 16:45
  SPEAKER_01: I was a psychologist.
• 16:47
SPEAKER_01: God called me to be a psychologist, not a businesswoman, even though I'm pretty good at it.
• 16:53
SPEAKER_01: But I always had somebody else handle the billing and all that kind of thing.
• 16:57
SPEAKER_01: Um because they were friends of mine, I trusted them to manage things adequately.
• 17:05
SPEAKER_01: You wouldn't trust them implicitly.
• 17:07
  SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
• 17:07
SPEAKER_01: I was a consultant, I conducted the evaluations, they did all the billing, etc.
• 17:13
  SPEAKER_01: etc.
• 17:13
SPEAKER_01: Well, one day two FBI people show up at my private practice.
• 17:19
  SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
• 17:28
SPEAKER_01: Well, it turns out they were asking me questions regarding the business that I had contracted with.
• 17:38
SPEAKER_01: Unbeknownst to me, there were at least ten Medicare numbers in my name, and more hours than there are in a year were billed out in my name through all those different numbers from Medicare.
• 17:56
SPEAKER_01: Needless to say, that should be a red flag.
• 17:59
SPEAKER_01: I didn't know any of this was going on.
• 18:01
SPEAKER_01: So we went to court and everything, and I thought it was gonna be innocent, but my attorney encouraged me to take a plea.
• 18:11
SPEAKER_01: Now, you've got to know this was a federal court in New Orleans, Louisiana.
• 18:15
SPEAKER_01: The jury pool was residents of New Orleans, Louisiana.
• 18:23
  SPEAKER_03: Drunken party.
• 18:24
SPEAKER_01: At that time it was a chocolate city, known as a chocolate city.
• 18:29
SPEAKER_01: You talk about Medicare, you're gonna be guilty, is what he said.
• 18:34
SPEAKER_01: No matter what the proof is, no matter what the facts are, they hear that, and it's like there's no way.
• 18:41
SPEAKER_01: So he said, take a plea.
• 18:42
  SPEAKER_01: Even Bert.
• 18:43
SPEAKER_01: And you precious Bert said, take the plea, so you'll have less time.
• 18:47
  SPEAKER_01: And that was true.
• 18:48
SPEAKER_01: And that unfortunately that makes me crazy, Beverly.
• 18:52
  SPEAKER_03: Yes, me crazy.
• 18:53
SPEAKER_03: And you can't follow through, and you have to say you're right.
• 18:57
SPEAKER_01: It was not a jury of my peers.
• 18:58
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was not.
• 18:59
  SPEAKER_01: It was not.
• 19:00
SPEAKER_03: It was not gonna be that's number one.
• 19:02
SPEAKER_03: Now Bob's got something to say to that because we're already upset.
• 19:06
SPEAKER_04: Sounds like a whole bunch of people who were there in the January sixth.
• 19:13
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you're right.
• 19:15
SPEAKER_04: They all took pleas because they're gonna serve a lot of time, because they're gonna be forced in it, and you're not gonna be innocent.
• 19:21
  SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
• 19:22
SPEAKER_01: And you can't afford an attorney to really fight for you.
• 19:25
SPEAKER_01: We have mortgage daddy's house.
• 19:27
SPEAKER_01: But that's another story for another day.
• 19:29
SPEAKER_01: Anyway, we the company I work for, it was not Medicare complaining of our billing or our procedures, it was an attorney from the US Treasury.
• 19:45
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
• 19:46
SPEAKER_01: So I was held in conspiracy.
• 19:48
SPEAKER_01: My charge was conspiracy to commit Medicare fraud.
• 19:53
  SPEAKER_01: Oh my.
• 19:53
SPEAKER_01: I wasn't charged with committing Medicare, but conspiracy.
• 19:57
SPEAKER_01: So what on earth does that mean?
• 19:59
SPEAKER_01: And what happened is they twisted emails and messages, inter-office stuff, and said you conspired with them.
• 20:11
SPEAKER_01: It's like, no, I didn't conspire with them, not intentionally.
• 20:15
  SPEAKER_01: That was the charge.
• 20:16
SPEAKER_01: Anyway, so I have a lot of resentment against our judicial system.
• 20:21
SPEAKER_03: And and I could imagine, because first of all, the conspiracy isn't anything.
• 20:26
SPEAKER_03: You're just doing your job, taking care of the people and doing what you're told to do, and somebody else is in the background cooking the books.
• 20:35
SPEAKER_01: Because exactly, they're cooking the books, and in prison, most of the people who were office managers were in prison.
• 20:45
SPEAKER_01: Not the physicians, um, but the office managers, sure, the accountants.
• 20:50
SPEAKER_01: In our case, our office manager got off scot-free.
• 20:54
SPEAKER_01: So we believe that she did a deal with them.
• 20:57
  SPEAKER_01: With someone.
• 20:58
SPEAKER_01: And the attorney that was prosecuting the case was seeking higher offices within the Department of Justice.
• 21:09
SPEAKER_01: And he succeeded in doing that with the um the case that we were in.
• 21:14
SPEAKER_01: He got his Washington promotion and wound up in Washington.
• 21:18
  SPEAKER_02: Oh my.
• 21:18
SPEAKER_01: Which was to my disadvantage because we'd kind of formed a relationship and um through the course of time.
• 21:25
SPEAKER_01: And the new prosecutor that came in was just uh dead set against any leniency for a Medicare case.
• 21:34
SPEAKER_01: Oh my Needless to say, I served um two years in a federal correctional facility in Aliceville, Alabama.
• 21:42
SPEAKER_01: And I chose to go there because it was closer to my family and to uh bird that was kinda halfway in between.
• 21:50
SPEAKER_01: And uh while there I met a lot of lovely people and my life was changed.
• 21:55
SPEAKER_03: And that's kind of incredible, which means that g it all was sort of God's plan to get you there, I guess.
• 22:02
SPEAKER_03: And uh that and he works in mysterious ways sometime.
• 22:06
SPEAKER_03: And this is kind of the weirdest one I've heard in a long time, actually.
• 22:09
SPEAKER_03: Because when Beverly said she had been in prison, I'm like, what?
• 22:13
  SPEAKER_03: I was absolutely dumbfounded.
• 22:16
SPEAKER_03: This wonderful, mild-mannered Christian lady.
• 22:20
SPEAKER_03: Her daddy was a preacher here in Ekrew, where she grew up, and I was dumbfounded.
• 22:26
SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, oh my lens, you must tell me more.
• 22:29
SPEAKER_03: So now there are all of these things, and you can just list them starting from the very beginning that were against you.
• 22:36
SPEAKER_03: So taking the plea does sound like the thing you should do.
• 22:40
SPEAKER_03: But my question kind of in this is you got to pick what facility you wanted to go to.
• 22:46
  SPEAKER_01: Well, I requested it.
• 22:47
SPEAKER_03: You requested it and they requested it.
• 22:51
SPEAKER_03: Because you were in Louisiana where this happened, correct?
• 22:54
SPEAKER_01: But it was a federal facility.
• 22:58
SPEAKER_01: It had to be a federal facility.
• 22:59
SPEAKER_01: There was one in Florida, Louisiana.
• 23:01
SPEAKER_01: I don't know where others were, but I knew that I wanted to go to Aliceville.
• 23:05
SPEAKER_03: To Aliceville because it's there.
• 23:06
SPEAKER_01: So now And I think it's important to know I was not behind bars.
• 23:10
SPEAKER_01: I was in a federal prison camp.
• 23:13
SPEAKER_01: It was like I to me it was a military seminary.
• 23:17
SPEAKER_01: We wore uniforms, we lived in barracks, uh, we had steel toad boots, we had all this horrible stuff.
• 23:22
SPEAKER_01: But uh every night I went to Bible study.
• 23:25
SPEAKER_03: Okay, see that's the one thing I wanted to ask you was what was it like on a day-to-day basis?
• 23:31
SPEAKER_03: From the minute you arrived there and went through the door, there are things in your book that will answer all these questions, but and we want everybody to buy the book to get all of the answers and to get everything.
• 23:43
SPEAKER_03: But starting with that, what did it feel like?
• 23:46
SPEAKER_03: I mean, that's a real demo question, but what did it feel like?
• 23:50
SPEAKER_03: You're getting ready to walk through the door, and what happened?
• 23:53
SPEAKER_01: Let me go back when you're when you're there, you have to leave everything behind your glasses, your medication, everything.
• 24:01
SPEAKER_01: And our uniforms were um given to us.
• 24:06
SPEAKER_01: I mean, we couldn't even keep our own underwear.
• 24:08
SPEAKER_01: Oh my I'd like to read to you from uh about prison life that I wrote in it addresses a lot of this because I was in a prison camp, I was not locked up behind bars, chained, or handcuffed.
• 24:23
SPEAKER_01: I was never handcuffed that whole time.
• 24:26
  SPEAKER_01: That's good.
• 24:27
  SPEAKER_01: Yes, that was difficult.
• 24:29
SPEAKER_01: Uh instead, it was like being sent to a military seminary.
• 24:32
SPEAKER_01: We wore drab green men's uniforms.
• 24:35
  SPEAKER_01: Now, this is a women's facility.
• 24:38
SPEAKER_03: Is that meant to like make everybody It's cheap the government?
• 24:44
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 24:44
SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's the government making it cheap.
• 24:46
SPEAKER_03: It's also kind of humiliating to tell you the truth.
• 24:49
SPEAKER_01: And ill-fitting steel-toed boots that cause significant foot pain.
• 24:53
SPEAKER_01: Brown sheets, listen to this, brown sheets, towels, and underwear completed our ensemble.
• 25:00
  SPEAKER_01: Oh my.
• 25:01
  SPEAKER_01: Depressing.
• 25:02
SPEAKER_01: Most of our food was out of date because it was free to the prisons.
• 25:08
SPEAKER_01: So it won't kill you if you eat something out of date.
• 25:11
SPEAKER_03: I know I've always thought that people that look at things out of date and just throw it away, it's like wait a minute, wait a minute.
• 25:17
SPEAKER_01: We followed a strict routine of getting up by 6 a.m.
• 25:20
SPEAKER_01: and going to bed at 10 PM.
• 25:22
SPEAKER_01: Before lights out, we were counted to ensure that no one had escaped.
• 25:27
SPEAKER_01: We slept on narrow, stainless steel bunks with two inch foam mattress and no pillow.
• 25:35
SPEAKER_01: This was Why no pillow?
• 25:37
SPEAKER_01: This is because a pillow could be a weapon.
• 25:40
  SPEAKER_01: Like seen on TV.
• 25:43
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 25:44
SPEAKER_01: Because of the drug trafficking in prison, we were not allowed to have cards or stamps from the outside.
• 25:50
SPEAKER_01: They put drugs on the back of stamps, like LSD and different drugs like that, and smuggle them in that way.
• 25:57
SPEAKER_01: All mail was screened and letters had to be written in blue or black ink on plain white paper, no lined notebook paper.
• 26:04
SPEAKER_01: We could make three-minute phone calls in the evenings, but visitors and email recipients had to be approved before communication could start.
• 26:12
SPEAKER_01: Everyone was assigned a job at camp, and the little funds that were earned went toward paying restitution.
• 26:19
SPEAKER_01: My restitution is over two million dollars, none of which I ever received.
• 26:25
SPEAKER_01: And that's actually against the law to have fined me that much money because you're not supposed to be fined more money than you received.
• 26:34
SPEAKER_01: Oh good heaven, so how did that happen?
• 26:37
SPEAKER_01: Um this is the judge.
• 26:39
  SPEAKER_01: The judge.
• 26:40
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 26:40
SPEAKER_01: And that that um I guess amendment or law or whatever it was passed while I was there.
• 26:49
SPEAKER_01: Again, to adjudicate it, it's too much money, it's not worth the hassle.
• 26:52
SPEAKER_01: And that's what my a different attorney told me who I really have more confidence in.
• 26:57
SPEAKER_01: All right, most of the inmates started working in the kitchen, washing dishes, and I started there too, and it was a grueling task in the heat.
• 27:05
SPEAKER_01: However, since I was old and slow, I was soon relieved from kitchen duty.
• 27:10
SPEAKER_01: Since I still needed a job, everybody in prison has to have some kind of job.
• 27:15
SPEAKER_01: My friends recommended me to the chaplain to work in the childbre chapel library.
• 27:20
SPEAKER_01: And that was a 'cause working there enabled me to read and study God's Word, take classes for biblical studies diploma from Stanford University that I received, yes.
• 27:33
SPEAKER_01: And play the piano for weekly Catholic services.
• 27:36
SPEAKER_01: As time went on, life at camp stabilized.
• 27:40
SPEAKER_01: And um friends wrote then to me there angst about when I wrote them and told them that it's like that I was like, oh I can't believe that, you know.
• 27:50
  SPEAKER_01: But I survived.
• 27:51
SPEAKER_03: Well, yes, you did and and very well too, very successfully too.
• 27:56
SPEAKER_03: I um I know that this is all like kind of jumbled in my mind right now, only because I can see so many steps of what was wrong in this, and it takes money to get to to appeal to and then I can't help but say what I'm thinking right now.
• 28:18
SPEAKER_03: All of those Soros-backed AGs.
• 28:21
SPEAKER_03: Now I don't know if you were involved in any of that because I don't know where all of them are, but you can see then how stacked it can be in the first place without a lot of money to back you and get you the best lawyer and keep going and keep going.
• 28:34
SPEAKER_03: Because they're billing the minute they pick up the phone and start talking to you.
• 28:37
  SPEAKER_03: That was something I didn't know.
• 28:38
SPEAKER_03: And I thought, gosh, I ought to be doing that when I was uh investing people's money.
• 28:43
SPEAKER_03: They call me up all the time.
• 28:44
SPEAKER_03: Uh and I want to know another uh particular investment that they do you know it, do you like it?
• 28:50
  SPEAKER_03: Could we do it?
• 28:51
SPEAKER_03: And I should have been billing them that whole time.
• 28:53
SPEAKER_03: But anyway, uh you don't uh I never did.
• 28:56
SPEAKER_03: But I can see how that would be even an additional thing if the AGs have they have bias, big bias against you with the PhD from Ole Miss.
• 29:07
SPEAKER_01: Right, but also that they get their perks if they can recoup the funds, like the Medicare funds that went to that company, if they can recoup so much of that, then they get feathers in their caps.
• 29:19
  SPEAKER_01: I see.
• 29:20
SPEAKER_01: And this guy was doing well and he's I lost track of him.
• 29:24
SPEAKER_01: He's somewhere in Washington or was doing quite well.
• 29:28
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and so it does work out for some folks to go forward, huh?
• 29:32
SPEAKER_03: We're gonna take a break right now, and when we come back, there's so much to this book that we're going to be going forward with not only what did she make of this whole event, but how it changed her lives, and then we want her life and other people's lives too, at the same time, because I know that happened.
• 29:51
SPEAKER_03: And then there are some excerpts I want to tell you about that I have read that really uh made me think about a lot of things.
• 30:00
SPEAKER_03: Our lives are totally described in this book and things that we should be doing and we should pay attention to.
• 30:08
  SPEAKER_03: So stay with us.
• 30:10
SPEAKER_03: We're gonna be right back.
• 30:11
SPEAKER_03: We have got so much more about letters to prison.
• 30:16
SPEAKER_03: What are your plans for celebrating America's semi-quincentennial?
• 30:20
SPEAKER_03: Well, I've got a great idea for you.
• 30:22
SPEAKER_03: Join the Pontiau County Republican women and help them celebrate.
• 30:35
SPEAKER_03: Welcome back to the Elise Richmond Show.
• 30:37
SPEAKER_03: We are still conservatively speaking, we are still saying exactly what you are thinking.
• 30:42
SPEAKER_03: We're right here in New Albany, Mississippi, your hometown radio station, WNAU 1470, and we are so happy to be here.
• 30:50
  SPEAKER_03: Mississippi is so nice.
• 30:52
SPEAKER_03: It's gorgeous with all this rain.
• 30:54
SPEAKER_03: Oh my lands, everything is so green, everything is so beautiful, everything is blooming, all the crops are doing well, and I'm hoping that the farmers get big prices for all those great crops that we see on either side of the road when we're driving down the highways and all.
• 31:09
SPEAKER_03: It was the same thing all the way down from Anna, Illinois to Ponetalk, Mississippi, just Arkansas and Missouri and all on in to Tennessee.
• 31:20
SPEAKER_03: Uh it's beautiful to be here.
• 31:22
SPEAKER_03: I'm so happy to be here.
• 31:24
SPEAKER_03: Colonel Gannon Burton is also one of our sponsors, Colonel Gannon Burton for his America, our Mississippi for America First.
• 31:33
SPEAKER_03: And they are generous donators to sponsor and keep this show on the um on the air.
• 31:41
SPEAKER_03: And it's also um they support conservative, other conservative things too.
• 31:47
SPEAKER_03: So we have to always thank Colonel Gannon Burton.
• 31:50
SPEAKER_03: I haven't spoken with him this summer.
• 31:52
SPEAKER_03: Gosh, it's been busy and the summer's almost over.
• 31:54
SPEAKER_03: He'll be coming home and we'll have him back on the show.
• 31:57
SPEAKER_03: But anyway, thank you, Colonel Gannon Burton, and thank you, Mississippi for America First.
• 32:02
SPEAKER_03: To learn more about Mississippi for America first, just go to their website, mfaf.us.
• 32:10
  SPEAKER_03: That's mf dot us.
• 32:13
SPEAKER_03: And we thank you, Gannon, Colonel Gannon Burton.
• 32:16
SPEAKER_01: He is a great guy.
• 32:18
SPEAKER_03: He is a great guy.
• 32:20
  SPEAKER_03: He absolutely is.
• 32:21
SPEAKER_03: You're you're listening to the voice of Beverly, Dr.
• 32:23
SPEAKER_03: Beverly Stubblefield, who is our guest today.
• 32:26
SPEAKER_03: And when we were doing the intro, she was sitting here saying she wanted to say amen two or three times.
• 32:31
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, to what Bob was having to say, yes.
• 32:33
  SPEAKER_03: Yes.
• 32:34
SPEAKER_03: It's always good to have a mutual admiration society, Beverly, because uh friends are good.
• 32:41
SPEAKER_03: Yes, they are, and friends that agree with you are even better.
• 32:44
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and speaking of friends, I want to have a shout out to my Spring Aqua Queens.
• 32:50
SPEAKER_01: That is our water rubbish group that our good friend Regina Cook hosts.
• 32:58
  SPEAKER_01: There you go.
• 32:59
SPEAKER_01: We stay in shape with that.
• 33:01
SPEAKER_01: So I want to say a shout out to those ladies, and I hope they're listening.
• 33:04
SPEAKER_01: And also to my mission action ladies.
• 33:07
SPEAKER_01: The my mission action ladies from Ingamar Baptist Church supported me financially while I was at camp.
• 33:14
SPEAKER_01: And also, of course, with their prayers and financially also.
• 33:18
SPEAKER_01: So hi, mission action ladies.
• 33:22
SPEAKER_03: And that's always good to thank them because it was uh it was a a wonderful thing for them to do.
• 33:28
SPEAKER_03: I thank you, ladies, for supporting Beverly during this time.
• 33:31
SPEAKER_03: And now let's get going with our next question because we kind of need to go on in and have you continue talking about life there before we get to some of the actual letters.
• 33:42
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 33:43
SPEAKER_01: What else you want to know?
• 33:45
SPEAKER_03: Well, you've talked about how you dressed.
• 33:46
SPEAKER_03: What did you you talked about how how you were where you were working.
• 33:51
SPEAKER_03: We didn't get into that.
• 33:52
SPEAKER_03: We talked about what you ate, how you slept.
• 33:56
SPEAKER_03: So now let's talk about playing the organ, what you were doing in the library, and how that helped you.
• 34:03
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 34:05
SPEAKER_01: I was used to my private practice and working and seeing people all day long.
• 34:10
SPEAKER_01: And we also had the horse farm.
• 34:12
SPEAKER_01: And so I was used to that.
• 34:16
SPEAKER_01: So I was very active and busy with that.
• 34:19
SPEAKER_01: So when I got to prison, I wanted to sleep.
• 34:22
SPEAKER_01: It was so exhausting, exhausting, and stressful.
• 34:25
SPEAKER_01: So my first day or two there, you sleep up at the front where the guards can watch you before you move back into the barracks.
• 34:35
  SPEAKER_01: And I slept.
• 34:38
SPEAKER_01: And I remember being criticized for sleeping, but I needed that rest.
• 34:42
  SPEAKER_01: Sure.
• 34:43
SPEAKER_01: And um then you get your job and you go to your job, and we were up at six.
• 34:48
SPEAKER_01: We had to be at the cafeteria at four o'clock to get breakfast ready for everyone.
• 34:53
SPEAKER_01: So you're through with your day by ten o'clock if you work in the kitchen.
• 34:57
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so what are you gonna do?
• 34:59
SPEAKER_01: So you read your Bible, you take a nap, you read your Bible, then you get ready for lunch at eleven, and you go on throughout your day like that.
• 35:09
SPEAKER_01: Because I played the piano I played the organ actually at church.
• 35:14
SPEAKER_01: There were no organs there, but there was a piano.
• 35:16
SPEAKER_01: It was behind lock and key.
• 35:18
SPEAKER_01: As were the guitars and the drum set and all it's like I went to recreation.
• 35:22
SPEAKER_01: Why is this locked up?
• 35:23
SPEAKER_01: It's like so nobody will abuse it.
• 35:25
SPEAKER_01: It's like, well, what if we had lessons and taught people how to use them appropriately?
• 35:30
SPEAKER_01: Okay, and that was through the recreation department.
• 35:32
SPEAKER_01: So we were instrumental in getting the room unlocked so people could come and learn how to play the piano and and um the guitar.
• 35:40
SPEAKER_01: Someone else taught guitar lessons and someone else did the drums.
• 35:43
SPEAKER_01: But we got that started and then Excellent.
• 35:46
SPEAKER_03: I'm sure that the some of the prison ladies really enjoyed that.
• 35:49
SPEAKER_01: Yes, and then on Sundays the religious service was uh not something I'd been used to.
• 35:56
  SPEAKER_01: It wasn't a traditional service.
• 35:59
  SPEAKER_03: Okay.
• 36:00
SPEAKER_01: And so we kind of missed that.
• 36:04
SPEAKER_01: There were a bunch of us ladies there that really missed a traditional service.
• 36:09
SPEAKER_01: No one played the piano for the Catholic service.
• 36:12
  SPEAKER_01: Okay.
• 36:12
SPEAKER_01: So I asked if I could play the piano for the Catholic service.
• 36:15
SPEAKER_01: I had played for the Episcopal and the Lutheran services outside of prison, and so I got to play for the Catholic service, and that was a godsend also.
• 36:24
SPEAKER_01: So I taught piano lessons as well, and I taught ping pong.
• 36:29
SPEAKER_03: And that one was something I thought, how do you teach ping pong?
• 36:33
SPEAKER_01: Don't you just stand there and you with the rules and how to call the rules.
• 36:39
  SPEAKER_01: Technique.
• 36:39
  SPEAKER_01: Ping pong.
• 36:40
SPEAKER_01: I was the camp dominoes champ.
• 36:42
  SPEAKER_01: Oh my goodness.
• 36:43
SPEAKER_01: I mean that disappointed so many people because I didn't play dominoes you know at home, but um Daddy did.
• 36:50
  SPEAKER_01: Right.
• 36:50
SPEAKER_01: He played dominoes, and uh so I was the camp dominoes champ, and that just blew everybody's mind.
• 36:56
SPEAKER_01: I learned to play handball there.
• 36:58
SPEAKER_01: It's like I entertained myself in whatever way I could.
• 37:01
  SPEAKER_03: Sure.
• 37:02
SPEAKER_03: Because those are long days.
• 37:03
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 37:04
  SPEAKER_03: Long, long days.
• 37:06
SPEAKER_01: And I learned to crochet.
• 37:08
  SPEAKER_01: My lands.
• 37:09
SPEAKER_01: And let me see what else.
• 37:11
SPEAKER_01: Oh, it was very interesting how we cooked.
• 37:14
SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't remember my exact spinach dip recipe.
• 37:20
SPEAKER_01: But you take your sneak your spinach out from the cafeteria.
• 37:24
  SPEAKER_01: Sneak your spinach out.
• 37:25
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 37:26
SPEAKER_01: Add some mayonnaise to it and uh and cheese, the string cheese that you had to buy from the commissary, and heat it up in the microwave, and you had spinach dip.
• 37:36
  SPEAKER_03: There you go.
• 37:37
SPEAKER_03: And so you had that at nighttime.
• 37:39
SPEAKER_03: You could sit there and read it.
• 37:40
SPEAKER_03: Well, I could sneak out the spinach, yeah.
• 37:44
SPEAKER_03: And so that sounds good.
• 37:45
SPEAKER_03: You know, that sounds like the sorority sneaking the stuff out of the kitchen at uh at nighttime.
• 37:51
SPEAKER_03: I had a roommate that actually took the key, and we really got the good stuff.
• 37:56
SPEAKER_03: She could open up the refrigerators and the freezers.
• 37:59
SPEAKER_03: She also could open up the cigarette machines, which was not good, but we did it, you know, when you're kids.
• 38:05
SPEAKER_01: There were inmates that did that too.
• 38:07
SPEAKER_01: As long as they didn't get caught, yeah.
• 38:09
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
• 38:09
SPEAKER_03: And we did finally get caught.
• 38:11
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 38:11
SPEAKER_03: It was really my roommate.
• 38:13
SPEAKER_03: I just kind of sat there and going, oh my gosh.
• 38:15
SPEAKER_01: Now, if you do get caught doing bad things, you get sent to the shoe, special housing unit at the big facility.
• 38:23
SPEAKER_03: Oh my lands, they take you out of that scenario and put you to the actual prison.
• 38:27
  SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
• 38:28
SPEAKER_03: Oh my lands, that's gotta be terrible.
• 38:30
SPEAKER_01: Unfortunately, I never I never was bad.
• 38:32
SPEAKER_03: I bet you were not.
• 38:33
SPEAKER_03: I bet you were not.
• 38:34
SPEAKER_03: So now you had a practice there in New Orleans.
• 38:39
SPEAKER_03: You're running this equine camp for children or adults.
• 38:43
  SPEAKER_03: All and families.
• 38:44
SPEAKER_03: All families whoever is in need for kind of rehab.
• 38:48
  SPEAKER_01: Yes.
• 38:49
  SPEAKER_03: All right.
• 38:50
SPEAKER_03: And you're doing all of that, and then here comes this case.
• 38:53
SPEAKER_03: Now you're in prison, but you have a vast number of people.
• 38:58
SPEAKER_03: Your church, your community, your clients that came to you, the people that came to the Equine Center.
• 39:05
SPEAKER_03: All of these people were you're involved with in their lives, you were helping them, you were counseling them.
• 39:13
SPEAKER_01: They were dependent on me, and I was suddenly taken away.
• 39:16
  SPEAKER_03: And you were gone.
• 39:17
  SPEAKER_03: So now what happens?
• 39:18
  SPEAKER_03: Here come the letters.
• 39:20
  SPEAKER_03: Yes.
• 39:21
  SPEAKER_03: Okay.
• 39:21
SPEAKER_01: Many of them wanted to communicate with me, and many of them visited me.
• 39:28
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
• 39:29
  SPEAKER_01: Oh, wonderful.
• 39:30
SPEAKER_01: They were able to get uh with me, but some said things, some of them died while I was in prison.
• 39:37
SPEAKER_01: Some of my friends died.
• 39:39
SPEAKER_01: But one lady, and I just spoke to her last week, she's a haho hoot.
• 39:45
SPEAKER_01: She had her own issues with the judicial system.
• 39:47
SPEAKER_01: And remember, I told you that we had to write letters, they had to write letters on plain paper, and this one of my friends got special stamps to send to me with beautiful pictures on them.
• 40:01
SPEAKER_01: Of course, I never saw them because they were confiscated.
• 40:04
  SPEAKER_01: Oh my land.
• 40:04
SPEAKER_01: Because the stamps were confiscated.
• 40:06
SPEAKER_01: But I want to read to you what one of my patients wrote to me who was irate with all the rules and regulations, and she says to me, Now remember, all of our mail is read before we receive it.
• 40:19
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 40:20
SPEAKER_01: Now some mail was sent by certain people.
• 40:23
SPEAKER_01: If they were involved in the case, I never received anything from them.
• 40:28
SPEAKER_01: And my colleague that uh worked with me in my private practice wrote to me and I never got any of her letters.
• 40:35
  SPEAKER_01: Why is that?
• 40:36
  SPEAKER_01: Ask the government.
• 40:38
SPEAKER_01: I guess remember I was in there for conspiracy.
• 40:40
SPEAKER_01: I guess they were still thinking I was conspiring to get out or do something.
• 40:45
SPEAKER_03: While you were playing the organ at the Catholic service and teaching ping pong.
• 40:49
  SPEAKER_03: Right.
• 40:49
SPEAKER_03: You were oh yeah, there's such a possibility.
• 40:52
SPEAKER_03: Gosh, you've got to have a real twisted mind to come up with all that.
• 40:55
  SPEAKER_01: Let me read.
• 40:55
SPEAKER_01: This is what um one of my patients wrote in her letter.
• 41:00
SPEAKER_01: I'd like to address the monitor who is reading this before giving it to Dr.
• 41:04
  SPEAKER_01: Stubblefield.
• 41:05
SPEAKER_01: I pray for whom it may concern.
• 41:08
SPEAKER_01: Please understand and know that our legal system has erred and used its most vile ignorance and imperfection to put Dr.
• 41:16
  SPEAKER_01: Stubblefill in your presence.
• 41:19
SPEAKER_01: I strongly feel and know hundreds more who would agree that the judges and leaders behind their decisions are doing or have done more wrong than anything Dr.
• 41:28
SPEAKER_01: Stubblefield could ever imagine doing.
• 41:31
SPEAKER_01: With that said, I implore and pray that you and your peers treat Dr.
• 41:36
SPEAKER_01: Stubblefill with the utmost respect and that you will make sure the peers of Dr.
• 41:41
SPEAKER_01: Stubblefield treat her in a similar fashion.
• 41:44
SPEAKER_01: None of you can imagine the extraordinary gifts, talents, and skills that Dr.
• 41:49
SPEAKER_01: Stubblefield has given our culture and small town along with others in the metro area.
• 41:55
SPEAKER_01: Please take care to seek seek God's love and glory as I pray God will continue pouring his blessings on you, Dr.
• 42:02
SPEAKER_01: Stubblefield, and those in your facility.
• 42:05
SPEAKER_01: We also pray for Dr.
• 42:06
SPEAKER_01: Stubblefield's earliest release back to a community that misses and longs for her goodness.
• 42:13
  SPEAKER_03: Amen.
• 42:14
  SPEAKER_03: Amen.
• 42:15
  SPEAKER_03: Amen.
• 42:15
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know, um I read that, and that was one of the letters that I had marked to talk about.
• 42:23
SPEAKER_03: It was extraordinary to me that this person had the courage to do that, number one, because I would think a lot of people would be intimidated by this whole system.
• 42:33
SPEAKER_03: I think I certainly would be, and would think, oh my lands, now the FBI's gonna come to my house because I criticized.
• 42:40
  SPEAKER_01: Well, they did.
• 42:41
SPEAKER_01: Oh, good heavens! Yes, oh my lands, they did was against the law of HIPAA violation.
• 42:48
SPEAKER_01: They went to two of my patients that I know of, to my long-term Blue Cross Blue Shield patients.
• 42:55
  SPEAKER_03: Oh no.
• 42:56
SPEAKER_01: And tried to intimidate them and threaten them and all, but that that backfired on the FBI.
• 43:01
  SPEAKER_03: Well, it should have.
• 43:03
SPEAKER_03: How dare them do that?
• 43:04
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 43:05
  SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
• 43:06
SPEAKER_03: How dare them do that?
• 43:08
SPEAKER_03: Uh, you know, once upon a time, this was America.
• 43:11
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 43:11
SPEAKER_03: It was called Free Speech and the First Amendment.
• 43:14
SPEAKER_03: And if you wanted to criticize the government, hey, go for it.
• 43:18
SPEAKER_03: Now, and that was done in such um a very sophisticated way.
• 43:23
SPEAKER_03: When I read it, I thought uh this person chose the words carefully, and they did not offend anybody.
• 43:30
SPEAKER_03: They just laid out what they thought.
• 43:32
SPEAKER_01: She had worked as a paralegal.
• 43:34
SPEAKER_03: I see, but she did an incredible job of that.
• 43:37
SPEAKER_03: So the FBI goes after her and it all backfired.
• 43:39
  SPEAKER_03: How did it backfire?
• 43:40
SPEAKER_01: Did someone find out they didn't go b uh against her, but they went a seeking dirt.
• 43:48
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah, more, yes.
• 43:50
SPEAKER_01: And trying to get dirt on my private practice, which they never were able to because I ran an honest, straightforward private practice.
• 43:59
  SPEAKER_01: Sure.
• 44:00
  SPEAKER_03: Sure.
• 44:01
SPEAKER_03: So now you're in there for two years.
• 44:03
  SPEAKER_03: Yes.
• 44:04
SPEAKER_01: And did you Actually my sentence was thirty months.
• 44:07
SPEAKER_01: Okay, but I was there too and then some of the time you get some time off for uh as I say, good time, and I spent a month, I believe it was a month or six weeks at Dismas Halfway House in Tupelo.
• 44:22
SPEAKER_01: You go to a halfway house to get used to going back into the community.
• 44:26
  SPEAKER_01: Sure.
• 44:26
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I always say people go to prison, you know, to get rehabilitated.
• 44:32
SPEAKER_01: I got unhabilitated while in prison.
• 44:36
SPEAKER_01: Okay, that was my term.
• 44:38
  SPEAKER_01: Unhabilitated.
• 44:39
  SPEAKER_03: Unhabilitated.
• 44:41
  SPEAKER_03: There you go.
• 44:42
SPEAKER_03: Well, you go in now and you you're doing all this, and we've heard everything that's on a day-to-day basis, but during a two-year period, there is uh holidays.
• 44:55
SPEAKER_03: You know, there's Thanksgiving, there's Christmas, there's your birthday.
• 44:59
SPEAKER_03: Um how is it celebrated in prison?
• 45:04
SPEAKER_01: Your close friends will do nice things for you and make cards for you that are in prison, the friends that you make.
• 45:11
SPEAKER_03: They will do nice things for you and you did make a bunch, I bet.
• 45:14
  SPEAKER_01: I did.
• 45:15
SPEAKER_01: I didn't get in touch with some, yes.
• 45:18
SPEAKER_01: Some very good, close dear people are there.
• 45:22
SPEAKER_01: That like me didn't have any business being there.
• 45:25
  SPEAKER_01: But there we were.
• 45:28
SPEAKER_01: You don't get a special treat or anything.
• 45:31
  SPEAKER_01: Um had special visitation.
• 45:39
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, people could visit on holidays.
• 45:42
SPEAKER_01: You had holiday hours, like weekends, you had visitation hours.
• 45:47
SPEAKER_01: You did get a special meal.
• 45:50
SPEAKER_01: And I'm trying to remember what we did have.
• 45:52
SPEAKER_01: I think we did have turkey, but you'd get a special meal at holidays.
• 45:57
  SPEAKER_01: And you'd get a little extra.
• 45:59
SPEAKER_01: And did other denominations, uh churches come in to preach or to actually we had Cairos, which is a prison ministry, and that's a national, maybe even international, but I know it's a national organization where people come to the prisons to minister.
• 46:19
  SPEAKER_03: Yes.
• 46:20
SPEAKER_03: Be I was just um at uh Church of Christ in Franklin, Tennessee, with my friend, another friend from Anna, Illinois, and she lives in Franklin, and I was there uh a couple weeks before I went to Anna.
• 46:32
SPEAKER_03: And their church is very, very active going to a prison and taking food and taking a lot of things and uh to the prisoners.
• 46:40
SPEAKER_03: And one of the things, of course, is taking uh the Bible in Christ and preaching to them.
• 46:46
SPEAKER_03: And my friend is involved in that.
• 46:47
SPEAKER_03: She goes and she listens and is, I think, gonna be getting more involved as she learns more and more about it.
• 46:54
SPEAKER_03: But prison life has got to feel very, very not only confined, but I would think it was almost frightening in the beginning, because you don't know who those people are.
• 47:04
SPEAKER_03: Or were these special people.
• 47:06
SPEAKER_01: You gotta remember I'm a clinical psychologist, so I'm a pretty good judge of people, right?
• 47:10
  SPEAKER_02: Right.
• 47:11
SPEAKER_01: There was only one person that I had to be leery of, and and then but I had good friends there, and this one one girl, bless her heart, she looked after me.
• 47:24
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 47:25
SPEAKER_01: She was in a the bunk across the aisle from me, and she kept an eye out on me.
• 47:32
SPEAKER_01: And she could beat up that girl that didn't like me.
• 47:35
SPEAKER_01: And she could she could get she could beat her up.
• 47:37
SPEAKER_02: So I was safe in that regard.
• 47:39
  SPEAKER_02: Well, that's good.
• 47:40
SPEAKER_02: Bob, what do you have to say here?
• 47:42
SPEAKER_04: Now, did you practice when you're in prison on the other prisoners helping them and things like that?
• 47:47
SPEAKER_04: Did they seek your help once they learned that?
• 47:49
  SPEAKER_01: Some did, yes.
• 47:50
SPEAKER_01: Once they learned what I did, yes.
• 47:52
SPEAKER_01: And I remember going out on a picnic table and uh, you know.
• 47:59
  SPEAKER_01: I help people.
• 48:01
  SPEAKER_01: Again, that's a God given gift.
• 48:03
  SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
• 48:03
SPEAKER_01: I mean I have a degree, but God called me to be a psychologist.
• 48:08
  SPEAKER_03: I think it is.
• 48:08
SPEAKER_03: There's a certain um insight that you would have to have as a psychologist to understand what's being said to you and to kind of you could have training for seeking it out and know what to say, but to know how to really help is another story.
• 48:27
SPEAKER_03: Because I think sometimes there are some people that really weren't called to it, and they could possibly do more harm than good.
• 48:35
SPEAKER_03: But I see you as a person who would be definitely totally called to it.
• 48:40
SPEAKER_03: So the holidays were kind of uneventful, so to say.
• 48:44
SPEAKER_03: Now let's talk about Bert.
• 48:46
SPEAKER_03: Did Bert come all the time?
• 48:49
  SPEAKER_03: Did Bert call?
• 48:50
SPEAKER_03: What how did you continue?
• 48:52
SPEAKER_03: This has got to be terrible on a marriage.
• 48:54
  SPEAKER_01: He came.
• 48:55
SPEAKER_03: Oh, maybe that's too personal to talk about, but I know Bert and I just thought it would be I'd like to know what he did.
• 49:02
SPEAKER_01: I think it strengthened our marriage.
• 49:04
  SPEAKER_01: Really?
• 49:05
SPEAKER_01: He went to live with his mom.
• 49:06
SPEAKER_01: Of course, we lost everything and lost the farm and um and everything.
• 49:11
SPEAKER_01: But he went to live with his mom, and he would commute from Bay St.
• 49:15
SPEAKER_01: Louis to Slidell to run the print shop, Old Town Print Shop at that time.
• 49:19
SPEAKER_01: That was before Burt's Bay Blends.
• 49:22
SPEAKER_01: So anyway, um prior to me going into prison on Thanksgiving, we would go to Minnesota to visit his daughter and her grandson and her husband.
• 49:34
SPEAKER_01: And he would take his mother now that I was in prison.
• 49:38
SPEAKER_01: He and his mother and flip-flop, our dog, would go.
• 49:42
SPEAKER_01: And then it was a Thanksgiving, maybe my second Thanksgiving there that they had gone, and he came back, and they came back through Aliceville from Minnesota on their way to Bay St.
• 49:57
  SPEAKER_01: Louis.
• 49:58
SPEAKER_01: They came through Aliceville, Alabama.
• 50:00
SPEAKER_01: And he got there like thirty minutes before visitation was over on a Sunday afternoon, and I was not expecting him.
• 50:08
SPEAKER_01: My sister was there visiting, I knew she was coming.
• 50:11
SPEAKER_01: She would come on the weekends that Bert Wyden coming.
• 50:14
SPEAKER_01: She would come once a month, he'd come once a month, and I had other friends that would come once a month, and they all kind of staggered that around.
• 50:21
SPEAKER_01: So I pretty much had visitation almost every weekend.
• 50:25
SPEAKER_01: But I'm sitting there talking to my sister, and I see this man stick his head through the door and I said, That looks like Bert.
• 50:34
  SPEAKER_01: And it was Bert.
• 50:35
  SPEAKER_03: And it was Bert.
• 50:37
SPEAKER_01: But they couldn't let it.
• 50:38
SPEAKER_01: That's him when I knew I was loved because he made a special trip to come and see me.
• 50:43
SPEAKER_01: And they didn't let him in because it was there wasn't enough time.
• 50:47
SPEAKER_01: It was too late, but I knew he was there.
• 50:49
SPEAKER_01: And the guard said I would have let him in, but I just turned away somebody else from visitation, so he couldn't let him in.
• 50:56
SPEAKER_03: Well, that is the special story too, absolutely.
• 50:59
SPEAKER_03: So now I'm looking at the clock, and I want to know what you would like to say about your book, and then I'm gonna finish it up by saying what I would like to say about your book.
• 51:09
SPEAKER_01: All right, the important thing to remember about this book is a compilation of letters sent to me by people, family and friends, and the letters I selected are words of encouragement and faith.
• 51:24
SPEAKER_01: These letters kept me uplifted and kept me going when the going got tough.
• 51:31
SPEAKER_03: And I can add to what you just said that I have read half of the book and then some of some other parts in the back that I just kind of was interested in after looking at the table of contents.
• 51:43
SPEAKER_03: And I would say that this book is totally uplifting, it is very faith-based, and your friends were coming from a place of sincerity and prayer, and they would send all kinds of things that were so incredible, and they would tell the story of their life, they would also tell you, continue like a conversation with you, like they were sitting in front of you.
• 52:09
SPEAKER_03: And I found that to be very interesting.
• 52:11
SPEAKER_03: They also quote Bible verse all the time.
• 52:14
SPEAKER_03: These are not people that are just saying, um, oh, here's a Bible verse, and oh, I felt this or I read this.
• 52:20
SPEAKER_03: They actually would come in with the exact verse and they would tell you, please go to this and you will feel better about a certain situation.
• 52:28
SPEAKER_03: Divorces talked about here, marriages, illness, death, uh, how to deal with grief, how to deal with an everyday life.
• 52:37
SPEAKER_03: And then there's the joyful things.
• 52:39
SPEAKER_03: They had grandchildren, they wanted to tell you.
• 52:42
SPEAKER_03: They wanted to tell you about their farm.
• 52:45
SPEAKER_03: One lady I read all about how she and her mother would watch the eggs.
• 52:50
SPEAKER_03: She had quail and ducks and geese, and she would watch the eggs and the incubators, and she said, I can't tell you how many hours my mother and I sit and wait because it's such a miracle of how God puts creatures on this earth.
• 53:06
SPEAKER_03: And I found that to be so, you know, loving animals the way I do.
• 53:09
SPEAKER_03: She must have worked for you at some point with a horse.
• 53:12
  SPEAKER_01: I thought she did.
• 53:13
SPEAKER_01: She worked and she kept things going for us.
• 53:15
SPEAKER_01: Whenever we would go out of town, she fed in the mornings, and then I had a young man that worked for me from the eighth grade through college, and he's now a police officer in Slidell.
• 53:27
SPEAKER_01: How about so I had some very loyal employees as well as patients.
• 53:32
SPEAKER_03: Well, and she knew your dog's name, flip-flop.
• 53:34
SPEAKER_03: So I thought she must have worked for uh Beverly Invert at some point.
• 53:39
SPEAKER_03: So now uh we want everyone to know how do they get this book?
• 53:43
  SPEAKER_03: That's number one.
• 53:45
SPEAKER_03: Well, you can order it through Amazon.
• 53:48
  SPEAKER_03: Of course.
• 53:49
SPEAKER_03: So go to Amazon, folks.
• 53:50
  SPEAKER_03: I'm Letters to Prison.
• 53:52
SPEAKER_01: Yes, I'm trying to get it into some local places.
• 53:56
SPEAKER_01: If you're in the UK, it's in some bookshop over there and in Ontario and some other foreign countries, but we're trying to get it here in in Mississippi.
• 54:06
SPEAKER_01: And if you come to Lunching with Books in Pontiac next Thursday at 11 30, you'll hear some wonderful music and you'll hear me speak about letters to prison and you can buy a book from me there, and that's at a discount price.
• 54:24
SPEAKER_01: Oh, and also in Ecru at the Tanglefoot Market.
• 54:28
  SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
• 54:29
  SPEAKER_01: That's what I was gonna say.
• 54:30
  SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes,$25 there.
• 54:32
SPEAKER_01: It's you save three dollars if you go to Ecrew and get your book.
• 54:36
SPEAKER_03: Well, Ecrew, uh Tanglefoot Market is a fun place to shop anyway, and uh Beverly had a book signing there.
• 54:43
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and so do you have any other book signings scheduled in the area?
• 54:46
SPEAKER_03: Because I want you to go to Square Books in Oxford.
• 54:48
SPEAKER_03: I don't know what the procedure is to get there, but that would be excellent.
• 54:52
SPEAKER_01: So I have um August the 13th at um the Ponitock Library.
• 55:00
  SPEAKER_03: At 11:30.
• 55:01
  SPEAKER_01: 1130.
• 55:02
SPEAKER_01: I have a garden club in New Albany.
• 55:05
SPEAKER_01: Yes, Sandra Ford has me lined up to speak to her garden club here in New Albany, and then in October the 29th, I speak at the Senior Sisters group at Fridonia Baptist Church.
• 55:18
SPEAKER_03: Okay, and any church group.
• 55:20
SPEAKER_03: This is Yes, I am available.
• 55:22
SPEAKER_03: Yes, this is a Sunday school uh speaker.
• 55:25
  SPEAKER_03: Right.
• 55:25
SPEAKER_03: This is a Wednesday night speaker.
• 55:28
SPEAKER_03: You can really be uplifted and encouraged all the way around.
• 55:33
SPEAKER_01: At CrewAuthor.com is my webpage, and you can call me or um go to the website, yeah.
• 55:42
